"It's no joke, comedians have been suing the Pandora streaming service, saying it's using their material without permission. Bloomberg's Joe Schneider says comedians believe streaming platforms need to pay them as the authors of jokes in the same way songwriters are paid for their lyrics. When jokes are used by streaming services, they say very infringing their intellectual property. Comedian Lewis black. It's really unbelievable. It's just not right. Is one of the latest comedians to sue. He's seeking more than $10 million in damages. Pandora's parent company SiriusXM is declined to comment on black's claim, but in responding to earlier lawsuits that included claims from the estates of Robin Williams. And George Carlin. It's easy. Tell a judge the truth. It said comedians traditionally have not collected a separate royalty for the actual jokes contained in any of their comedy recordings. I'm Ed Corey, Bloomberg radio. What is dedication? The thing that drives me every day is a day is very annoying. We call them day to day for short. Every day he's hungry for something, whether it's attention, affection, knowledge, and there's this huge responsibility and making sure that when he's no longer under my wing, that he's a good person. I think the advice I would give is you don't need to know all the answers. The craziest thing was believing that your dad knew everything. So as a dad, you felt like you had to know everything. You had to get everything right. It's okay to make mistakes. As long as it's coming from love, then, you know, it kind of starts to work itself out. I want him to be able to

"Bloomberg 99 one to Boston, Bloomberg, one O 6 one, this in Francisco, Bloomberg 9 60 to the country, SiriusXM channel one 19, and around the globe, the Bloomberg business act in Bloomberg radio dot com. This is Bloomberg markets. Hey, coming up in this half hour, we're going to check in with the Ross Mayfield. He's the chief investment strategist at Baird private wealth, get his thoughts on these markets. And Katie Greipel, Bloomberg's cross asset reporter discusses her recent piece on the ETF boom being fueled by existential crisis in bonds. That sounds kind of cool. But first let's check in with John Tucker, get a Bloomberg business flesh. All right, Paul and that's it's all about the data going forward from here more recession concerns the S&P 500 pushing lower. We have this report showing a measure of U.S. manufacturing activity weakening for the month of June, it's down to a two year low new orders contracted, so stocks are lower and that is pushing money into bonds right now. Rally in bonds pushing the yield on the ten year of the benchmark U.S. note below 3% well below 3% right now, two 72. This is down 22 basis points. But the determine the path they had for stocks, and Russell investments firmly focused on the Federal Reserve. One of the puzzles is how much the U.S. economy has weakened through the June quarter, which has been surprising given that even though the fed has been tightening, there's still not anywhere close to their neutral rate yet and what will that do to the fed reaction function going forward? Right now the S&P 500 twenty four points lower that is down 6 tenths of a percent. Dow Jones Industrial Average, down 235 points, that is down 8 tenths of a percent. But as they composite index, 75 points lower, that is down 7 tenths of a percent. The next volatility index still below 30 right now at 28. We check the markets for you every 15 minutes during the trading day right here in Bloomberg radio on John Tucker, and that is your Bloomberg business flash. Matt and

"To the country SiriusXM channel one 19 and around the globe the Bloomberg business app in Bloomberg radio dot com This is Bloomberg business week Another story that was among our most read when it hit the Bloomberg terminal takes us to Palm Beach Florida and it's sizzling retail scene It is the lead story in this week's pursuit section Bloomberg news wealth team reporter Amanda Gordon co wrote the piece and she explains that he coastal town is making the resort lifestyle Feel more full time Thanks in part to a high end mall known as the royal point Sienna Plaza All these New York brands have opened there since the pandemic started And what we find is that there's a sort of sense of community that the mull culture has always helped foster in the suburbs when they were first being developed That's kind of the history of malls And in this instance there's this big boom post maybe post COVID or at least at the moment And this mall has become a hub before the sort of dynamism that's in the community Well I also think about the community in general right You know this firsthand 'cause you've been going back and forth there I mean how many people all of a sudden have moved down there And I feel like there's been kind of a juice in term in terms of energy that's down there right A mix of kind of old money new money right There's been a lot of movement and it's playing out It feels like in the retail sector as well Yeah so there are in fact while this small has taken sort of become a hub for New York brands there is activity all over town where vacancies are being filled and new shops are coming in and one of the drivers of this is actually something we probably talked about before which is the New York restaurants And the fact is that although people are craving the new and special especially if you have decided to uproot yourself from where you'd been living and you're in a new community you also crave the familiar right And you also crave that sort of kinetic energy of running into people that you know And someone told me while I was reporting the story it's not even what it's who It's the fact that when you go to this place and there's a lot of outdoor space beautiful landscaping and it's not kind of like fancy and sort of in a formal or daunting way It's very informal which is kind of like Palm Beach but you run into people It's like as you write a country club in some ways And it serves as sort of a country club of sorts especially at a time when well people do things there that you're not allowed to do a country club so it actually have what business dinners you're not allowed to do that I didn't know that And also the waiting list that these country clubs are so long that these newcomers aren't going to be able to get in any time soon Yes there is sort of a democratic nature to common spaces It's not a public space It's not a town space like the park across the way But at the same time it's a well groomed space that is welcoming and Samantha David who had the idea to come in and revive this place that she had great timing because it all got into place Santa rose came in before in 2016 So ahead of the pandemic basically Well if you think about it right Yeah everything was set up All the foundation was laid for this to happen And one of the interesting things is that now there are now that they have sort of the basics there on and they have these galleries in from New York so there's this different kind of cultural life going on and Jeff Koons was down there for his opening and by the way his work sold for 8 million So this is a mall where a piece of art can be bought for 8 million But in any case the restaurant that's going to be developed out of a now vacant building 200 seats on the waterfront It's actually going to be the only restaurant that's public On the island because the other dining areas are in the clubs So it's just adding an amenity And it means that the Palm Beach might become more open in a way right Did you feel like when I've been down there just for work and stuff And it does feel like it's the private clubs and it's just very exclusive and there isn't a lot of or at least this is a few years ago pre-pandemic And this does feel like a very very different take What is it doing It just sounds like then it's revitalizing all kinds of retail space in the area Yes I mean there are lots of other areas where you can shop It's not that Palm Beach needs more retail Yeah But I do think that we'll see it all being upgraded I'm wondering about the sense of permanence that you got from the people you interviewed the people you spoke to Are these people moving from New York City to Palm Beach Is this permanent Well one of the things that we note in the story is that people are getting younger who are moving and they have kids And then Roman since the pandemic started at the private school on the island is up 35% So what I have learned from my interviews is that the people here the people who have moved love the fact that they can run over to the school in 5 minutes someone said I don't have to go to Randall's island to see a soccer game you know So there is this sense that there's less friction that's Bloomberg news wealth team reporter Amanda Gordon read more on the royal point Sienna Plaza in the pursuit section of the magazine You're listening to "The NASA minute. With Kevin mason. I realize a lot has changed, just during my lifetime, let alone the last hundred years. What I was wondering about coarse language, curse words, if you will, cuss words, call them what you want. I won't say them here because we keep this G rated. But do they matter as much anymore? Does it really matter if you hear a song on the radio that's got curse words in it? Reason I asked the other day I was listening to SiriusXM and they played an old prince song. A song I've owned for a good 35 years? Almost 40 years now. It was called erotic city between him and Sheila E., I've had it since like 1984 with 1985 when it came out, and it says the F word numerous times throughout. Now I've heard it many times over the years uncensored on the radio. But the other day, they censored it. They edited out the words and really made it sound bad. And it kind of threw me for a loop because I'd never heard the song that way. I realized I'm not sensitive to those words. They don't bother me if they still bother some people. But do they matter as much now as they used to? Do those words that are considered coarse language matter as much anymore? I'm asking because I really don't know.

"Or on SiriusXM channel one 19 All right with that let's get over to David Reilly He joins us right now from blue bay asset management where he is the chief investment strategist and David I'll just first ask for your take on today's jobs report I know it's just one set of data points but what do you make of it Yeah I think you got to take it as a good report when you get almost a half point decline in the unemployment rate And I think the big picture that the report shows is that the U.S. labor market is tight And I think we're going to see the fed go ahead with accelerating hyper December meeting and the debate I think is really around how far rates get to go when the fed starts hiking probably around June time There has been a little bit of debate though that the equity markets were following what the bond markets had been telling us You're seeing credit spreads Why just a little bit And I know that within your work with an investment grade and high yield we're looking at investment grade spreads the highest now since December 2020 How is the fundamental picture Yes That's really good point because you're right We have seen quite a meaningful widening in credit spreads As you say in terms of investment grade but also if we look at for example the riskiest corporate debt So triple C rated there that's widened out to about 700 basis points So I think the credit market is an interesting place for investors to look to make the call about what is the outlook fundamentals At the moment I think what's credit market is saying is that given the uncertainty given the reduction in liquidity and the fed about to embark on a hiking cycle we want more risk compensation And I think that is sending a message to other essay classes as well where valuations are stretched I don't think the widening in spreads though is yet to a level which signals concern amongst critic investors that were going to see a meaningful slowdown in U.S. growth and an increase in default risk Yeah I keep going back to this story that was put out the other day about that corporate profit The economy is doing fairly well Certainly corporations are earning money Is that set to change at all And would it change David if the fed hiked rates once or twice I don't think it does change if the fed is hiking rates just a couple of times And then what we've seen in terms of corporate balance sheets and borrowing in capital markets is that particularly in the investment grade space but also actually in the high yield bond market companies have been mostly turning out their debt So essentially they've been refinancing looking in these very low yields and pushing out the maturity of their debt So they're not hyper sensitive to higher interest rates and cost of funding I think where I would disagree with the broader bond market and the treasury market is I think with the flattening of the curve that we're seeing the bond market is saying we're not so sure that the fed can really raise rates too far before it starts having a meaningful negative impact on U.S. growth prospects As you say right now Matt if you look at the broad range of data not just today's payroll data but for example the ISN report that we also got today The U.S. economy is growing strongly and if anything is actually accelerating in terms of the pace of expansion So I actually think the bond market is being a little bit too pessimistic in terms of the medium term outlook and how the economy will respond to higher rates And you agree that that's what 78 basis points now on the twos ten curve is too bearish to pessimistic Yes I do think that I think the flattening that we've seen I think in part at least is because of the bond market saying there's so much there and she won't be able to raise rates too far But I think there's another part of that story around why long NGO to stay so low which is essentially that we have this huge amount of excess capital excess savings trillions of dollars And that ultimately does get recycled into financial assets including treasury bonds And I think as the fed starts hiking rates as some of that excess liquidity is drawn to the excess savings decline Then I think we'll see a shift higher across the whole of the yield curve David great to get your take Thanks so much for joining us David Riley there is chief investment strategist over at blue bay asset management Now let's get over to Nathan.

"So what i witnessed in these games around athletes standing up for their mental health athletes being proud to be part of the lgbtq plus community. I mean it was a human movement way more than a sport movement for me so that probably is enough to share with. How absolutely awesome. I thought it was hopeless. Just building block for years to come up emission. Kelly and her commenting on soccer. So she's had to come out of her comfort bubble of her own sport. If you were forced to go to the summer games and comment on a sport what you could you. Could you keep your head above water with the most radically. I'm working right now. A water-polo really. Wow yeah doing some work. With water polo to support that organization to keep their athletes safe and free of maltreatment. So i have all sorts of respect for water polo and i had zero idea about that sport before it started this project. But here's the thing that like. I mean. I think anyone could probably understand this. There's such a commonality amongst all athletes regardless of their outlet of how where they play or what sport so kelly in particular has commentated. Excellent work on multiple sports fighter. You're just have to hit that common denominator of the olympic spirit. The you know the stress that they undergo the pressure how to break through and when athletes commentate. Which you you you obviously know. They are paired up with a usually a more specific sport expert in more of an expert commentator as well so Yeah i mean. The human -ality of sport is obviously crosses across all barriers. I don't think like you would also know. There's no better people to speak about. Sport than athletes are retired athletes. They just understand at a level that no one else could understand what these athletes go through all particularly ones like you and kelly who are so well spoken. Yes you make it sound easy. But at the colleen jones. I think just about everything in her broadcast slash athlete career next up as beijing winter olympics hitting home Low closer with alison. But all this talk and we see daily feedback channels about you know. Is there going to be a boycott. Should there be a boycott Take us a little bit through the athlete to mindset. Talk as you're in final. Perhaps for your big olympic games. Yes i dealt with a lot of athletes and mentor too. Few of them going into tokyo that we're dealing with With his exact circumstance of what is in. Control your control. Where do you have a decision to make what is out of your control and wears that organization gonna make the decision for you. So i've i've worked with some athletes to just create that quadrant. I don't know why i do this do this. Because i love these athletes but they seem to find me Through safe sport. But i think that what i dealt with athletes in that similar circumstance. Previous is at the core of who you are you need to. You need to respect the decision that you would want to make and then also know that someone. You may not be in control of that decision ultimately if it's a federal decision if it's country lead decision if it's your organization's decision etc. I think it takes a lot of strength to it personally. Stand up and say. I don't want to compete. Because something is not standing up to my values whether that's health or any sort of discriminatory values you know that that takes a lot of strength to do admire athletes. That are willing to do that. I would not have done that in all frankness I may just didn't believe in things enough back then but for me. You could've you could've said that the the salt lake or the torino olympics were happening tomorrow and in a completely different area that never been..

"Me is a big question. Mark needs to be addressed you. Do they modify that zonal marking or is that something advani wants to continue to do and they just have to round out the just to make it better overall. You know. i'm kinda getting into some technical stuff. Let's break it down because you know they didn't play well last night. That was atrocious. As you mentioned five or six white shirts at the top of the goal area with with you know five or six dirk shire's right on the doorstep of crepeau it was. It was bizarre. Was benny hill. Like it was unbelievable to me. That seem blake players. They just weren't focused for whatever reason the same group of players that are eight games without a loss in. Mls just like they didn't outsider. Rheingold really want to be there right. And that is part of what i think you look at the rest of the mls's and if we're to believe that the camp is great. The players fight free each other. We see it in pittsburgh sometimes more than others I think in the game against lsd for instance. That was a team that was working hard for each other albeit defensively. If the rassi has the shooting boots on if christian rangle could find the net from six yards out. That could have been four or five. That's the truth. And i think that's what is seeing that you know. Maybe some of these draws Uneven the wins that had been you know a bit of a facade to the reality of a foundation. that isn't as strong as it needs to be three years in so then the next thing is in a game against specific is not really about anything tactical yes. I talked about the set plane situation there. But it's about who wants to win that second ball and who's going to get stuck into tackle and it was pointed out the cell count in the game. I think if i'm not mistaken was twenty six to eleven and savor pacific that means they want it or you know they're they're getting stuck in more doesn't necessarily mean although whitecaps more possession in areas didn't matter Pacific strictly wanted it more than the whitecaps did and that's where coach has to get the most from their players in a difficult situation. Because and i keep using that because they have had tough times over the last couple of years not playing at home. But you're away from home in front of a you know a good support on the island on a turf. That didn't look terrific to be honest. But that's what professional coaches do. And that's what professional players are paid to do and they didn't last night and You know mark as a big big price for that. I know you're both whitecaps. Broadcaster broadcast the mls and the whitecaps on tsn. But we talked about mark to santa's being a builder of canadian soccer. So is our guest here. Mister dole in a player coach.

National team is a pleasure to welcome back our dear friend. Mr paul dolan to secure some price. It's a pleasure to speak to you that you feel it. Well are yeah yes paul. Thank you very very very kind. I know you've been on the show before. I was engaged at a hospital at the time. So thank you for that. My friend being back just first and foremost your reaction to the firing mark to santos says the caps coach. Well let me just mute axel zoom college. He's still going. Yeah then he's just taken off training he was on the call for a little bit as well What's the reaction well. I'm surprised even though obviously throat. The last few years there have been struggles and big time. Struggles big dips where you saw that the end might be near Sooner than it was and then kind of turn things around a little bit at least if you look at it on the glass how full-sized having lost and mls play free games and a big win against l. afc actually thought l. Afc game was the most exciting game that I've called anyway in the last two or three years. So i kinda figured with that momentum and things going in the right direction. Mls wise anyway that he was safe for the year but he and the rest of the organization put such a huge emphasis on doing. Well mclean championship to stumble at the first hurdle again an honestly to stumble as horribly as they did. Last night i I wasn't surprised when i saw the note. Just now it's always a shock and i'm always Because you you grow an attachment to these people and let me tell you mark. This has been phenomenal in terms of providing insight ahead of every game. "Gelderman says i'd argue got a fair shake fair shake. I'd i'd have still play to. You're not sure what's gained right now other than fans being happy for a day or two right so right mayor right rightful right. I just want to echo. What you said about off the top about marta santos and his brother phil as well as assistant. Who was set. Let go here today. good people who put the work in love. The sport lifers port everything into it the passion we had a chance to interact with them professionally and socially over the years. I got a lot of time respect for they all say above answer teens coming in as the acting coach and was on the bench with mark and filled the santos for the first two years An extremely unique individual a thirst for knowledge and as good a people person as i've been around and he'll talk your ear off in. He'll talk your ear off like five or six languages. He has gone out and educated himself to a degree that very few people have. He's got a wonderful wonderful manner with people incredible communication and interpersonal skills. And he's going to need them here. So i can understand why you would want to turn the bench over to somebody like that. That said does not have a whole lot of experience with the big whistle in competitive situation. So that surprised me a little bit that you would go from an assistant on the bench with marked santos to coaching The twenty three d you twenty three side to now being repatriated to the big club. I this is temporary Obviously how temporary though is that's that's we don't know i mean it could be very temporary will see again. You just have to look at the talent. What did mark this antos feel comfortable plane. Look at the first half of this season. He used the same starting eleven. That's right like almost. He used the same thirteen players every game and the substitution made were late because he didn't trust anybody outside of those twelve thirteen players. That tells you everything you need to know. No i 'cause i asked you several times. Why are the substitute all of them. So late doesn't trust anybody. Now i've heard both greg kerr foot. The majority owner axel shoes were quite upset at the game last both at game and both quite upset. Yup yup there was Oh please tell me. Please please tell me that. This was given sober. Second thought today with cooled emotions and not simply a function of being embarrassed or angry at what happened last night. While there's some reporting the kazakhs acts of schuster has given his post mortem on all this I'll say this. There are reports. That schuster was a bat outta hell out of the owner's box or the management box At the end of game Is on the ground suggested that There was a very loud departure from the pitch for mark to santos in terms of a gate and its usage Shuster is this long ago. Do you think mark knew that. That was it for him. If he might have. I was asked about it last night from person in the sport and i said no i think he gets a few more weeks to see. If there's eight game unbeaten streak continues and see what they do with the mls. Play like no one thought. He was on thick ice. But i thought he was going to be able to work off of his eight..

May i was ready to be writing this prices right the marco santos or in early to mid june to that to me would have made more sense on june twenty third with a loss to the galaxy. The caps were to six and one out of the gate in this season and had lost five straight matches the last couple of which we would end our broadcast. Paul dolan and i look at each other and kinda shrug like. We knew it was a matter of time. Even though it wasn't entirely fair. Allie adnan had never arrived. And by the time. Former Producer and Program Director at WJOX, Pat Smith, Reminisces About the Show's Infancy

"Pat is The program director. W j. o. x. and of course he He's part of the global system trouble. I'm as i've assisted. Pd in co host. Because our good friend ryan heins program. I i'm always thinking. I had but i apologize but i'm always trying to to do things that i'm not supposed to be doing but it's really good to have you those days. I wanna i wanna go back. Because i ended up moving to a station where you. I think you were an intern But it wasn't too long after that that that you became a producer on the program. And i'm gonna let you kind of tell the story of how all of that ended up to where we are. Now oh wow Kind of a cliff. Notes version Basically like you said you're at another radio station. I think your contract had had come up and and you had Looked elsewhere and i happened to be at a news. Talk station which the sports talk. Show followed rush limbaugh's program and all the sudden you showed up Along with bob walked me at the radio station on that On that fateful I think it was a friday night after had done a show and then Just so happens. You guys came on the air on monday. I happened to be at the right place at the right time. And i was finishing up school at uab. And and you know you. And i developed a quick relationship and and decided from that point in time to kind of try to take the show to the next level and a few years later were able to get syndicated throughout the state of alabama and then mayor obviously sirius xm and then ultimately espn and where you are today at the sec network so just very blessed to be part of it from day one. I want to go back to that moment. Where we were on the affiliate in we are on the station in birmingham. And and you really started thinking You know bigger picture. I i was. I was at the time doing local television. I was still riding a newspaper on. So i i wasn't that the forward thinking but You thought to show could go beyond that area and what was so interesting about it. Is that once. it did There were a lot of people that that thought. Your idea was was insane. Now you're right You know it's so hard and difficult to tell people about this. Because i remember paul when the fax machine became you know a prevalent thing and offices and i never forget when we started getting stuff backs to us like before you came to the radio station because typically you would either be at the newspaper finishing up a column ridgetop by tv station. Then he committed the radio show and people around the south east would be faxing us newspaper articles because we didn't have internet internet was not invented yet. And so it was fascinating for us to be able to to get information from outside of the state of alabama and so that kind of up some different topics that we could do on the show and the one that started thinking. Well you know what you know. People outside of birmingham. We're on a five. Thousand watt am radio station and more people need to hear this program because we're inundated by voicemails and people you know would communicate with us anyway. They could until it's how much they love the show and more and more of the show and so at the time was able to go to to management and and pitch the idea of potentially getting on a few stations in the state of alabama. And that just kind of steamrolled and for many many years we kept adding stations and at one point we had. I believe in the mid thirties before we got on sirius. Xm so it was just a it was a great time in radio and we were very fortunate to have the people that believed in us. Just like you believed in the idea. So it will. And i'm gonna come back to some of the early stories but but i think for i want you to comment on this. I'll never forget. I was in pasadena We're actually newport together for the rose bowl national championship game between alabama and texas. And because i think a an illness in your family with I think your wife's mother or something you weren't able to make the trip and called me out there and you told me that You had gotten a call from somebody at sirius. Xm and i really. I thought you were kidding Because they wanted to run the show as a regular in an in an afternoon time slot in. And i want you to go back to that moment because there was a buzz around our Our crew at the time. And we you know. We have a fairly big crew now because of television and radio. I don't know if even matches the number of people that you had working with that particular moment in time. Because they were they were producers. They were Exa- they were assistant producer. They're dedicated phone. Screeners that That had their own contracts. But i did but i mean would you would. You agree That was the moment that things really started to change. No there's no question about that. And i'm glad that you wanted me to tell about this out of the story because i thought you were going to publicly remained me again for putting you outside the rose bowl at a outside party music. Play okay No no i was. I got i gotta call the blue Someone that are not you know. Never heard of before and they just said you know we'd love to show We want to talk to you about this show going. You know. Nationwide siriusxm You guys be interested in that. And i are you kidding me absolutely and then i remember calling you in pasadena and said you'll never believe this phone call and of course a lot of times like you would whether i'd call you and say hey. We got this coach on today or we got this happening today or whatever the case may be you know you a would you know i can picture you rolling your eyes going. Yeah whatever you know but then it finally sunk in it. You know. Once i told you exactly the full conversation and i think at that point in time you realized that we had we had a bigger entity on our hands than we thought. We did back then

Morgan Wallen apologizes for racial slur as backlash grows

"Tonight. The career of a country music star quickly going south morgan wallin facing fallout after using a racial slur. The publicize moment now forcing the industry to confront a truth. Here's nightline's auction sing. Tao guinean verbs. Morgan wallin embodied country music. His songs like seven summers ago. A celebration of small town living good friends and good times. The tennessee native rose to the top of the charts in two thousand eighteen with hits like whiskey glasses and never left at twenty seven years. Old wallin is one of the biggest stars in all of music now. A racial slur has stopped his meteoric rise in its tracks. A video obtained by tmz shows wallin and a group of his friends coming home early sunday morning after a night. Out on the town in nashville a neighbor was recording. When wallen said this his use of that racial epithet led to swift fallout his two record labels announcing in the wake of recent events they write big. Loud records has made the decision to suspend morgan wallin's recording contract indefinitely republic records. The second label fully supports big loud decision and agrees. Such behavior will not be tolerated. Top radio chains of stopped playing his music including cumulus media iheart radio siriusxm and several others and tonight variety reporting his agent dropping him the academy of country music announcing that he is no longer eligible for any awards at their annual ceremony in april. This time i can think of really in any genre where somebody just went from being the biggest star to having zero airplay almost in the course of one day now. The country music industry finally forced to confront the issue of racism head. On what type of message is the industry sending by taking these stances. The message that is being spent right now is that the n. word is a no. I think that has been made clear. Can we get to the point now where we are also uncovering or working to undo the culture that supports artists. Like how do we even get an artist in this space who is essentially on top of the world instill talks like this. How did we get that. Why does he feel comfortable here. Doing that wallin apologized the statement to tmz. Saying i'm embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that i wish i could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word i promised to do better but for some the apology was too little too

Documentaries having new life thanks to streaming

"The pandemic has sent us all home without access to gyms, hair salons movie theaters. So what's a documentary into do? Peter Spier Academy Award nominated producer director has been making films for several decades dock. He says the documentaries are now finding a renaissance in streaming. One of the unexpected side benefits were filmmakers and peters going to tell all about it Peter. Yes thank you very much a pleasure to be here with us. To tell us about what's going on in streaming. So right now. Because of Covid people are staying home. Fortunately, streaming has really picked up since that time and their reports for the strenuous got up between thirty five and forty percent, so people are now. Using streaming taxes, all of their content Bluefin's shows the Netflix. We're talking about Netflix. Talking about Amazon Voodoo Fandango Comcast Cox. All of these platforms are doing very well. You've got a bunch of different. Movies are out there right now. Summer old summer newer. Tell everybody about what you've got in what what you've seen it. Is it been easier to get them up there? So let's start with telling everybody about some of the titles. Right, so I have a couple of club rugged entertainment. We have three titles right now. A film that I got back from a distribution company called Doug's more which we now have on Amazon Voodoo and Fandango? Probably a few others Newfield called the Sharm hate about the OT. PT Community and that film is currently on all platforms. And we're what's called transactional video so for your for people out there that don't know the difference. There's a transactional video which means you have to rent the video there s Vaud or Day. which subscription video which would be services like? Netflix and Hulu at Amazon and Yeah, so those are the two main. Video. in demand on demand services. Are You finding? There is a bigger thirst for documentaries from the buyers right now than there was before covert. I think with the emergency. Some big documentary programmes tiger king right now out of control in terms of popularity Are you know the jinx? That was another one that kind of broke through and we're looking at documentaries that. Are Not only one offs, but sure. I have what's called a one off. which is just single episode, but. They're also you know episodes. Alike limited a limited series for it's. One two I mean would say three to five or six episodes now. How are you finding the documents as Documenta? How're you finding as a documentarian? Being able to shoot right now when we're social distancing and we're wearing masks, and you're not supposed to be going out and doing these things how you're getting stuff done. It's almost impossible I you know. I think the industry is trying to come to terms with how we are going to move forward shooting the biggest issues insurance so being able to cover, not only the liability. But to protect the crew, that's a whole thing, but you know what it's easier with documentaries and doing a full on production so I think you. Wall Street documentaries because of the cost and the. The smaller impact with the size of the crew well, you could always interview people outside. You don't have to interview them in their office and that has to help right. Well people are doing those kinds of things and then there are you know because people are getting accustomed now to save zoomed interviews, there are documentarian making. Documentaries using zoo. Which is pretty interesting so They're just setting it up and you know you do your interview it. Routing out with other kinds of clips and archival footage, but yeah I mean. People are doing all kinds of work around to make this. If you watch the local news or the National News, it's now become the reporter introduces. As Zoom interview basically and they they cut back and forth between the reporter, staring this computer, his or her computer, and then there's zoom interview. So how do you? You Always WanNa, take documentary docu documentary and take it to another level. So how do you make that more instinct? Well I think in those cases. They're using just the. presets of that look. I think if you're doing the documentary yet more time to creatively do with that particular interview, but you bring up a good point, and you only have limited resolution and quality to zoom interview and. you know unfortunately you have to deliver to the platform, and the platform may reject it based on the quality, so it's definitely something that's going to have to be navigated. Okay finally, tell everybody, but does more. This was the film that you did several years ago. It's been lost lost for years, and it's now back alive again. Thanks to streaming, so plug it in television, yes! Dunn's more features. wwl Brown could name. Harbison Talia Shire a Barry Corbin. Some really cool actors. It's kind of who done it I call it You know a small a town film. On steroids and it's very cool, cool film. And I've got disarm hate about the LGBT committee that's got documentary out now. Streaming narrated by Harvey Fierstein and we have our latest film. Michael Debar. Who Do you walk me? Be About? His kinda zealot type character who was in the film shirt with love and also performed of a billion people at live aid. And why is there a documentary? Why is there a documentary about him now? Well. He's also currently DJ Little Steven's underground garage his second. Biggest DJ that's to Howard Stern, so he's very popular on Siriusxm but He's got an incredible life I. Mean you know it's? It's also a story about recovery. And I'm telling you no matter what you've been through in your life, it will not compared to what he's been through. You can't even imagine the stories the sky half well you. You'll get to see in the film so if you're going to go off and watch documentaries on streaming this weekend.
