Clutter vs Hoarding: How to Live Clutter Free

"Tracey. Welcome thanks gave. Thanks for having me. I'm super excited. Well it is. It is my pleasure to have you so it. Seems like decluttering organization hoarding. It's everywhere these days about a decade ago. The television show hoarders. I think was probably like the big flagship but Home Organization. Just seems like it's really hit fever pitch. Why do you think that is you know? I think it's a combination of our easy access to shopping. So cheap. Consumer Goods Amazon delivers in the day. You can get your groceries. I like to joke without even having to put your pants on into cardiac liver right away and then also we live in such a world of visual bombardment. Pinterest instagram facebook. That does being sent these messages of how people think our homes are supposed to look you know before it just used to be a magazine a newspaper television but now it's like you see the perfect home on instagram. You see it on Pinterest. You see it on facebook you see it on the magazine you see it online. You know there's ten different channels coming out. You and I think people are really starting to take stock of how much stuff they actually have and how. It's not really working for them. One of the things that I noticed in preparing for this show is that you really talk about clutter. You don't talk about hoarding now. Is there a difference between hoarding and clutter or de-hoarding decluttering? How do you separate those two concepts? Hoarding is an actual disorder. I am not a therapist. I cannot diagnose it there couple of great resources online. If you're worried that you have cording disorder for a long time. They thought that hoarding was a symptom of obsessive compulsive disorder. But in the last couple of years they have separated out as its own disorders so it is an actual mental disorder. Clutter is just having too much stuff. So and that's not to say that there's one way that everybody should live. You know I'm a single person. I live mostly by myself. I have a certain amount of step a family of five absolutely going to have more stuff than I do. But the way that I describe clutter. Gabe is that clutter is the stuff that gets in the way of what you WANNA do. So for instance. You WanNa have dinner at your dining room table. But you can't because it's covered with three four five days worth of mail. The kids sports equipment a sweater. You need to return to your mom or you want to get dressed in the morning without you know having to pull everything out of your closet. A lot of people just get dressed out of their laundry basket because their closet is so full of clothes that they can't access it and use it as a tool so it's really the difference between too much stuff and then that's stuff that you have the clutter you've written in emotional story about so you we have created some story about why we can't let go of it. Either what I called the seven emotional clutter blocks and we all really have at least one some of us have couple more. But everybody's got at least one and what are the seven emotional clutter blocks so clutter block number. One is what I call. My stuff keeps me stuck in the past. You know. These are my parents whose kids have gone away to college yet. They still have their bedrooms. Saved exactly as a museum. This is keeping close that we can't fit into anymore. This is our staff telling us that our best days are behind us and to a certain extent. Isn't that also where our memories come from though like how do you separate the stuff that keeps me in the past? Because they're closed that haven't fit since high school and the stuff that keeps me in the past as in family heirlooms. It's when we attach to that right when we think. Oh I'm going to get back in those clothes you know. Of course the family heirlooms are the things that you look at. You know they make you happy and they remind you of your grandmother. I'm not saying that step. I'm saying if you have a closet. The other day and her linen closet re of the shell the five. Shell were full of artwork that our kids had made in preschool and elementary school. Her kids are grownups now. Their doctors so this stuff that her kids had created which while one or two of the Turkey hands were fantastic. I don't know if she needed all Edebali Right. Like sweet memories and that reminded her of it but she had three shelves in her linen closet that she couldn't use because she was stuck in the past. She didn't want to let go of when her kids were. Little makes perfect sense and then clutter block number two cutter. Black number. Two is my stuff tells me who I am? The best way to describe this clutter block is a client. Said to me with her hand on her hip. How can I possibly be lonely? I have two hundred pairs of shoes. You know this is our identity. This is the designer labels this is. I'm not lonely because I'm out of the sale at Nordstrom's this is really using our stuff as our identity and do a Lotta senior downsizing so it helps seniors move from lifelong homes into smaller spaces and I see this a lot with my older gentlemen. Who used to fix the car? Used to do the handiwork around the house you know really identified being helper in the family and now that they're older and maybe can't get up on a ladder. It's really hard for them. To let go of who they used to be. Emotional clutter block number three. If I am correct. It's the stuff that you're avoiding absolutely and full confession. I am a clutter block number three. I have it. I go a week without opening my mail so this is not opening our mail. This is not paying our taxes. This is not doing the business of being grown up and the interesting thing gave about this one. The people who tend to be very very successful at their job almost always seem to have letter block number three that they're really really successful work but then when they come home they avoid doing their grownup stuff. I completely agree with that. I feel that my day while I'm at work is when I am an adult and my time at home is when I can enjoy life and a lot of the stuff that I'm avoiding is stuff that I know is just going to make me unhappy. We'll just go with GONNA say angry unhappy annoyed so it can wait till tomorrow right absolutely and also this is an absolute block. Because you think I'm so together at work of course got it together at home. I'll get to that stuff eventually. So it's this story that we've told ourselves but what happens with this clutter block especially you know. This is the one that can end up costing you a lot of money right. You don't pay your taxes or you get behind in fees and interest like this is the one that can really do some damage. Also when that's like just put your big girl pants on and open your mail. Just do it. You GotTa do it now. This next one really spoke to me personally because I think that I'm definitely guilty of it. So emotional clutter block. Number four is my fantasy stuff for my fantasy life. I am so guilty of this county. What what do you? What do you fantasize you're GONNA be or should be so for me? I just keep thinking that I need to hang onto certain things because I'm GonNa need it in the future for example as soon as my podcast gets on. Sirius Satellite Radio. I'm going to need all of this equipment. This equipment is not doing me any good and when I'm even going to say when Sirius Satellite Radio comes a calling. They're not gonNA want my crappy equipment but I just believe if I get rid of it. I had limited my choices. And that's really the emotional part right absolutely. I believe that this stuff is connected to my success. Even though your going to tell me that it's not and you're right by the way you're you're so right and the great thing about that example in Vancouver Sherry is that you know what Sirius Xm radio has you studios beautiful equipment. They have the best of the best so while I love that. That's a goal for you like get the fantasy part out of it. Get into the reality of it again. That goes back to. You're not living the life that you're living right now. You're not happy with what you have. You're not focusing on. This is the equipment that I used to do. My podcast and it works. It's fantastic all this other stuff. I don't use but when I look at it. I remind myself that I'm not where I WANNA be. Not necessarily in a good way. It becomes a stumbling block absolutely this one. I see a lot around fitness equipment. These are the people who go. You know what I need to be. I need to be a rock climber. My life would be perfect. If I'm a rock climber. So they go out and they buy all the equipment they don't rent it they don't borrow it. They buy all the equipment. The shoes little bags with the chalk and they get up the rock and they're like I'm scared of heights or I don't like this at all and then they've gotten all this stuff with this thing that they think they should be and they're not and then they get angry at themselves. Why should be that? It's like no if you're not a rock climber you're still a really good

Should the Saints re-sign Michael Thomas?

"So we told you yesterday couple of days ago that michael thomas it was reported is now seeking twenty two million dollars from the saints twenty two million dollars a year that would shatter the previous high for receiver in the n._f._l. set by oto beckham junior last year who's making eighteen and a half million dollars sixty million dollars guaranteed now i've said it many times before and i maintain that michael thomas deserves from his perspective from michael thomas perspective and those around him he deserves to be the highest paid receiver in the game when he sees guys like odell beckham junior getting paid that much julio jones right behind him what michael thomas has been out producing them on the field the last few seasons and frankly it's not even close another is this debate about who the best receiver in the game is well if you just look at the numbers the best receiver in the games michael thomas maybe andre hopkins so too and i don't really think you can argue otherwise talent wise michael thomas is there and i guess the projected you had the n._f._l. network best wide receiver poll that they pitched to the fans last week and michael thomas didn't even make the top four that there's a little a little bizarre so the fan perspective on the reality what michael thomas is on the field don't match now they do here new orleans i don't think they match nationally so i wanted to get that out of the way i because when i get into this conversation and i think a lot of you are going to disagree with me on this i don't want to be confused that i think michael thomas doesn't deserve the money that he wants i do think that he should try to get as much money as he can extract a new contract considering how well he's played on the field i mean that's just the reality of this however from a saints perspective from a business perspective i gotta tell you i don't think it's a shrewd business decision for the saints to put ten eleven twelve percent of their salary cap into one wide receiver it just has never worked before in the n._f._l. and in fact when teams have done that before we've seen things come crashing down pretty darn quickly It's just as happened. no highest paid receiver in league history since the salary cap bear is everyone a super bowl only one only one ever has even made the super bowl that was julio jones a couple of years ago it's not like there's this long track record while you just pay these guys what you want and then you're going to have big time success on the field this position is highly dependent on everybody around them in the offense again i'm not diminishing what michael thomas is done and i don't think michael thomas production is just a product of drew brees for his fantastic as he is we've never seen wide receiver this productive in new orleans michael thomas's men and drew brees has had some really good receivers but if you're any organization whether that's an n._f._l. team whether that's a radio station whether that's a salesforce whether that's a fast food restaurant whether that's restaurant down here in the quarter a club Throwing those kind of resources. at one person who is highly highly dependent on everybody around him to be good doesn't really make a lot of sense i'm just telling you it doesn't make a lot of sense now from safes perspective again this is also a lose lose why use the term yesterday I don't really see a win coming out of this for them. because if they don't recycle thomas again t. what's going to happen we're gonna have these call screens all it up we'll have eight collars for for two weeks on this program saying what a terrible decision by the saints how can they let this guy get away this is the best receiver in franchise history a guy that's beloved by the fans a guy who seems like he really loves the city in new orleans But I know Mickey Loomis knows this. i know sean payton knows this that the history of paying wide receivers that kind of money it just hasn't worked it just hasn't worked maybe michael thomas and the saints will be the first one to disprove this notion perhaps that'll happen but i gotta think it won't especially when you consider drew brees is on his way off into the sunset will that's this year next year couple years down the road you could have a twenty million dollar receiver catching passes from quarterback who hasn't started a game a meaningful game in the n._f._l. either ever or in multiple years ever in the case of tastes and hill multiple years if it's teddy bridgewater i like teddy bridgewater i've said that before but he's not drew brees you think michael thomas is going to get one hundred passes a year From teddy Bridgewater. Day one seamless transition. I don't think so. the writing's on the wall here i'm not debating what the saints are going to do the saints from all indications sean payton said in that press conference What Mickey Loomis is said, on Sirius XM radio last week. this deal's going to get done it just a matter of is it twenty million dollars to twenty one is nineteen how much guaranteed money what's the link that's what's being debated right now the steals gonna get done but for the saints to continue success after this drew brees area which is quickly approaching its end they've got to have extremely extremely shrewd salary cap management which in the last three years they have been remember all the the trouble salary cap trouble the big odd in Four or five years ago. there's a lot of it they led the league in dead money because they had to cut these guys thanks for four straight years you don't want to go back to those days you don't want to go back to those days in fact they've never really paid a receiver that kind of money whether it was marcus colston or brandin cooks they traded him before he was up for a contractor whoever it was in the sean payton mickey lima sarah i hope they don't regret this decision and i understand why it looks like they're going to do it like i said it's a lose lose for them but in my mind i'm telling you if i was running any n._f._l. franchise and this is just the the brutal reality of this industry i don't care if it's the saints the patriots the falcons the cowboys whoever it is across the league if i'm running any n._f._l. franchise i'm not paying a receiver that much this position and it's unfortunate it's unfortunate for the guys who play the position just like it was unfortunate for the guys who played the running back position for so long the running back position has become so devalued it's a surprise when running backs or even drafted in the first round anymore specially in the top after the first round and it's shocking if a running back gets anywhere over ten million dollars a year i mean people still think this levian contract and i'm one of them it's a huge mistake what they're paying levian bells especially since he sat out a year we'll see what happens

We're going to survive Lima change private money and entrepreneurs have to get game from American public media. This is marketplace tech demystifying the digital economy. I'm Molly would. We're continuing our new series on marketplace tech called how we survive about. How technology can help us adapt to climate change. And here's the thing about that. It's expensive the UN puts the total cost to society at fifty four trillion dollars at a minimum by the end of the century. So arguably what we need now is money to create innovative technologies to help survive. The worst effects of warming Jayco is managing director of the private equity firm light Smith group, a firm that's hoping to find an invest in some of those technologies, and he says there aren't many others like it. I think it's one of the earliest attempts to try to look at of teaching resilience as an investable opportunity. Most money so far has gone toward mitigation trying to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency or toward recovering from disaster. And the bulk of that spending is driven by governments or nonprofits if you look at the global tracking of climate finance lists and five. Two six percent of all finance in the climate universe can be tributed what's called agitation or climate resilience. And so far the private sector has almost no skin in the game. But co says the need for funding is staggering three hundred billion dollars a year by twenty thirty in developing countries, alone and only growing so on the one hand private money is going to have to step in without being able to harness the flow of private capital from the private sector. We're going to face a much much more challenging experience with the effects of climate change flowing through over the next several decades and potentially the next several generations. And on the other hand, there is money to be made from companies that can come up with great solutions and scale them. Our rule is to find companies like that with great management teams already growing that can then be excel rated in their growth that will generate better returns for investors and also a better outcome for society. Okay. So but next question, what do you find co says he's looking at two possible catego-? Oris for investments, which he calls. Macgyver. Maclay? Macgyver used what he had to get out of jams. Looks like it might be Thurmond, Bob. So that's climate intelligence. Like, we talked about earlier this week or things like artificial intelligence for modeling risk to buildings and real estate. Then there's taking technology. We already have transferring it to different parts of the world, and scaling it. Up like, drip, irrigation or drought resistant seeds or cheap. Internet connected sensors for water metering but more available and cheaper. Now. Marnie MC fly from back to the future. Could use tools from you know, the future to change things. And so that means investing in entrepreneurs with crazy, moonshot ideas or materials, we haven't invented yet or just innovative ideas. I say distilling clean water from the air at any house or school or building anywhere on tomorrow show will look at a little macgyver and a little MC fly. And now for some related links. If you are not already you should totally subscribe to make me smart. The other marketplace podcast that I'm on with KAI Ryssdal. We did a crossover episode this week about climate adaptation with Solomon Hsiang, a professor of public policy at firstly who studies the economics of climate change adaptation, and in my opinion. It is a great episode. Jane brought up this really interesting idea of opportunity cost related to add up tation and resilience. He said that basically because of climate change the cost of just survival is getting higher, whether that's hardening infrastructure or disaster recovery or building new seawalls or AI sewer systems, and that leaves less money for other things in our society, like schools or firetrucks or the tech innovations that will need to make life easier or even possible over time other interesting reading on money and climate change last month to central. Bankers wrote an open letter about climate related financial risks. And how in fact climate change is a severe threat to the global economy. And I just learned there's a Sirius XM radio show called knowledge at Wharton, which probably also makes you pretty smart and on the most recent episode two professors from the university of economics and business talked about that letter and the potential economic impacts long term, and I really want this series to be focused on solutions in kind of a hopeful way. But in slightly bummer news earlier this week. It was confirmed that global carbon dioxide levels have hit their highest number in human history at four hundred fifteen parts per million. Scientists say that was probably last the case around three million years ago when sea levels were at least fifty or sixty feet higher and the Greenland and west Antarctic ice sheets. Probably did not exist so solutions, then I'm Ali would. And that's marketplace tech. This is APN Patrick in Santa Cruz. California wrote to us to say marketplace is an essential element in his life. "And Sirius XM radio with subscription for year have had the driving assistance package, which has acted blind spot monitoring as well as lane departure wanted. But if you bought a BMW, if you bought a German vehicle, you know, you can then go an option these things up. So this one even has the driving assistant. Plus, so if you look at the video posted on wwl case Facebook page in my auto inside of Facebook bay. You'll notice the vehicle driving as video. Show of me hands off the wheel for good, forty five seconds almost a minute. This vehicle had the driving assistant. Plus, and what that does it allows you to set the cruise control set the speed. You wanna drive the distance? You wanna keep from the vehicle in front of you. And then the own board. Computers. Follow the lines on the roll and keep that vehicle center in his laying around curves. And what have you if brings the car to a complete stop and stop and go traffic, and they will resume its speed that you had said when the traffic breaks up, and I will tell you. I was impressed. It was impressive the way the driving assistant, plus work. It also has parking assist package which helps with you parallel parking active park, distance control review camera, and the surround view three d camera. Anybody about an SUV crossover, especially if you got kids great kids a family. That's a great feature to have because even on this. Because even though it's a SUV type vehicle has a really low sloping rear roof line. So it does kind of. Impair your rear vision when you're back in the vehicle up. So that three D camera really comes in handy on this X four has premium package as well with the heated steering wheel heated seat. Heads up display. Heads up display shows you everything going on your dashboard on the windshield. So you don't have to look down to a radio station, your own you look down to see what the speed is all the displays on the windshield. I will tell you though, we're heads up displays on vehicles those windshield. A lot more expensive to replace when they get damaged by rocks on the row. So that will probably be the only knock I would ever have for a heads up display. Heck, I said it has runflat twenty inch tires ambient lighting in minicars. They got a line of BMW. I think does it as well. Or probably better than any of them. You could put on a light show for your friend. You spend six thousand dollars on a vehicle like showing the inside not bad to have has four panoramic roof so front and back. Everybody gets a view. The one thing that had that. I really like. But I think is another knock I don't understand. It does have apple carplay, which means you if you have an apple smartphone. You could connected to the vehicle and your apple phone screen mirrors own the seven the navigation screen in the Senate in the center stack. So all your controls from your phone are there on your dashboard, but it doesn't have the Android auto. So most manufacturers now have both this export only has the apple carplay. So if you're an Android owner that might be one of the things that you won't like about it has wireless charger for your smartphone. Needed care cordial around you drop your phone right onto.

"Start a March fifteen. When astronomers look at the universe stuff often gets in the way from clouds airplanes to asteroids, and the operators have an extensive new survey of the sky have something else to avoid the satellites that broadcast Sirius XM radio the sky survey is using the very large array a collection of twenty seven radio antennas in New Mexico to make the most detailed radio maps of the sky ever. But the satellites broadcast at some of the same frequencies, the V L A is studying in fact, the satellites produced so much energy that they can swamp the observations so operators have to be sure to aim away from the satellites over the next few years. The LA survey will scan the entire sky three times the radio telescope. We'll stare at half of the sky at a time more than a month of observations per scan that will reveal objects that are. Painter and farther away and ever before millions of targets in all the lists will include exploding stars. And the mergers of stellar corpses. Known as neutron stars. The survey also will examine jets of particles blasting away from the black holes at the hearts of many galaxies. The jets can zap clouds of gas that might form new stars shutting down the process of starburst. The survey also will map magnetic fields in space and peer through clouds of dust in our own galaxy to help map at structure.

"To at the races with Steve Vic on Sirius XM radio. We're back in the races. Talk about the the sale for a minute before. Todd Fisher joins us and wanted to get a couple of the other. Highlights out of that sale at Chica, boo. We mentioned fairly early on before we got off the air anyway off to Japan. And of course, this gives me the opportunity to punch the punch the whole in the in the balloon the the old chestnut. The rest of the world doesn't want our bloodstock except for K Japan that paid three hundred thousand for Chica, boo. The biggest lie out there that the rest of the world doesn't want our drug addled bloodstock that's a lie and they're not drug addled. It's pretty funny. And here we are again. Bloodstock distribution all those broodmares that. Head off to AustralAsia. Yeah. Decide Chica boo. The next the next top seller around the broodmare front was five star, mama and Silverton hill. Feeling good about adding to their operation hundred seventy five thousand for the five star day mayor she's actually Barron. She was so not. Now with a baby kitty panda hundred sixty thousand friend her trick. And of course, is powerhouse operation. The nine year old sky Mesa mayor she's in full to blame. Just talking that. Brookdale consigned and Justin Cassie bought one hundred sixty thousand for the midshipmen six year old and didn't see what the plans were for her. And then mighty fine hundred fifty thousand. That shepherd equal bought for Larry Hirsh, she's in full to run happy and on the short yearling front. Two hundred thousand intimacy just raises all boats and. This a Philly the Irish meadow stable, I think a lot of these are pin hooks. Of course, that'll be turned into. Some cases fall yearlings or to your old in training sale purchases. Notable that McMahon in hill. Mike McMahon, Jamie hill bought another frosted, and they they bought a frost. Baby. Previously jumping Jack racing bread this Philly. She one hundred sixty thousand the into mischief Philly, the Newtown aner bread was two hundred and Irish meadow and the frosted Stewart Morris consigned the frosted hundred sixty thousand and what else we got here. How about how about it is now Colt, Pennsylvania, Brad, Blackstone, farm Solta JK bullets that hundred twenty thousand. And an or hundred twenty thousand these are both colts. Read by China worse club. Dunham farm bought bluewater. Consigned? So I think there were I think there were thirteen six-figure sellers the numbers the overall numbers. Pretty much ahead of of last year's first session. And there about forty minutes away from. About forty minutes away from starting day to and once we wrap up this session today. The focus will turn to two year olds in training, right?.

"Dot EDU slash equine. Now back to at the races with Steve pick on Sirius XM radio. Just. Won't that love? Backwards. Love doing the pedigree work on these these bayton races and get to be the end of January, which means time to go for. Particularly the main track hopefuls and in addition to that that turf race. There's the fourth at Gulfstream on on Saturday as well that needs to be. Have some attention paid to it? Go flat mile. The boys, and there's some there's some things that are hinting at at quality, including Saint Meranti the violence. Call for Chad Brown and Samaya US this violence. Call seven hundred twenty five thousand dollar yearling bread by hill, Dale out of holiday birdie. You've got. You got the Todd coming back with. The spendthrift Starlight for samurai gelding. This is that may fall ranger up. And just so happened that ranger up found himself in the maiden race with cave run that nice, oh and hearty maiden winner. That ran okay behind win win win the Cape run third. I think right. Was he third in the Pasco ran, okay? Ranger up comes back in this spot. He was five hundred seventy five thousand at Keeneland yearling. Chad's got a second one here. Little less expensive than the Samaya runner high amplitude for Steph klaren, this is Bernardini coal hundred ten thousand dollar Keeneland yearling. There's a little bit of a little bit of everything in here. Bill Mont with jug Mont home bred has the debut from the rail down the chute, that's a little tricky. But. Joel Rosario in town, and he gets the call hidden scroll. This is a hard spun out of the empire maker mayor Sheba Queen. So there's a lot going on. Jorge Navarro has a has a horse for Galvin Stein, a creative 'cause Cole. Who's just keeps running second is run. Second three times. He ran into lucky lead any rain at the cutting humor and then come on, Jerry. And he's he's run three very solid racist. But. Got nothing to show for it. And he's got. Earnings, but. Should also mentioned baba pinta. Who's got a union rags Colt. They beuing with Todd vibe. I man. Forging oaks bread that was bought at Saratoga. Union rags out of a pulpit mayor. So that fourth race is going to be. Closely watching or the problem, the problem with a daylight like this Pegasus day is that there's so much going on that it it just gets, you know, the racist. Like that kinda get lost in the. In the haze. There's a very good the the south beach. I mentioned came up really good with Kaplan temptress and Dina del sewer and more. Conquest? Hard candy us now with Tonio say known. So it's gonna be fun. It's gonna be fun Saturday. And of course, in addition to this card. There's certainly no shortage of. Of nice racing. We talked about Saturday Akwa duck with Andy, and we talked. Or at least hinted at the rest of the. The Saturday activities. You've got Santa Anita has got kind of a mixed bag of we'll talk to Tom quickly. We've got a mixed bag of. Sun, sunshine, million remnant. As well as a couple of Calcutta races and more. So what was the unusual heat? Four stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday Pete for and it tells going to join shortly got a couple of pieces of news, I want to weave in as the morning unfolds, son. So little little personnel note that I wanna mention did you see that Tom, greedy. Of course is handling exclusively. The the bloodstock advice for Michael Stinson, but facing Tipton has signed on mcgreevy to. Basically lead the or at least joined become a prominent member just by reputation of the yearling inspection. Process. And of course. The the very. Untimely? And and sad passing a Bill graves last year last last may or June and. The the loss of Bill graves is one of those people that. I really possible. To replace. And just the fact that that somebody at the level, you know, the reputation of mcgreevy comes in gives you an idea of of just what Bill graves. What he meant to the operation to have to reach out and bring in mcgreevy. Bill graves was as you heard from void Browning that at the time just. Historic import on the on the sale seen. So I thought that was interesting mcgreevy joining up and another personnel note the. The Evans family Ralph and daughter, Lauren. They've said diversified Jonathan Thomas. Thomas whole get started to slowly no, no early plans, yet ver- diversify. But..

What are you still paying for the never never never use my landline? Yes. Me too. Bundle with my cable and internet. Bundles can be cheaper though, like if you were just to do cable and internet and no home phone that would be more expensive than the bundle. Right. What are your salesmen? But you know, what I know a lot of people don't have the landline. We still have the landline at our house, and I always think if the cell towers went down or something like that a landline. Nine one one can't find you. Well, if now you're you're breaking it down because you have like a ATT Uber is having to which is not on coffer that's going over like your computer signals, a VoIP. I think or something so. On ninety one thing comes into play. If that went down, they can find you. Because of that if you called from a landline that particular landlord because it works off of your computer modem. Oh, jeez. Yeah. There's a lot of a lot of things at play that about my pay grade. It came out of oral state yesterday that urban Meyer is getting a three-game suspension. Gene Smith is getting two weeks spend and other than the report for all of us digest the page will be turned there in Columbus. What are your thoughts. Last night. It was. Yeah, it was difficult last night I for somebody who let's put it this way. I have a unique perspective on it to the fact that I was a college coach and I messed up and I found a way to deal with the consequences and be better. But I've had been asked the question lately, like if somebody offered me a coaching job again, would I take my answer is I don't know if I deserve it. Right. I don't know if a parent could trust me with their child because of my past mistakes. And those are consequences to that coaching in college is not a is not a right. You know, it's a privilege and I'm not really. The the investigation and everything that comes out with them not necessarily to involve with that, but what. What the program stood for what they said. It stood for was a marketing campaign. Essentially, it wasn't what he believed because he stepped up on big ten media day simply told the world ally, and hey, coaches, light of the media all the time. It was what it was about that he lied about. It's the problem for me. And essentially he told all those kids, he coaches that it's okay to lie because you'll just get a slap on the wrist and essentially victim shamed..

"Where do you see this going where is so big in too big like i don't know like yeah i and i think it's still i still think it's just infancy stage or at least early adopter stage right because how many blogs are there i mean there's probably a hundred thousand times many blogs as there are podcasts but still you know they're people you know going to blogs i think we're we're really it's funny there's when you ask a student you know what's a podcast ask him what the pod means that my youngest are eighteen and twenty one and i asked him one time you know what's what's the pod being podcast they roll their eyes and said i don't know what's it made they they've never known of a life without a smartphone what is up came from ipods right the original ones you had to download it and put the court in there i mean you had to be techy to even listen to those and so it comes from there so and sometimes i'll ask people to listen to podcast in they're like no but then they're listening to like sirius xm radio which is a lot of that is repurpose podcast a lot of am radio is repurpose podcasts to me it's more like radio ondemand talks describe it gm cars in in the in the states here i think are coming worth where you can download a straight to the dashboard and now last summer i got a call from a couple of buddies from the navy and they're like hey i didn't realize you were in town you know let's get together tonight for dinner and after i got the second message i called him back and i'm like why did you think i was in town and they're like well we heard john morning drive this morning and i started to pieces together found out it was a podcast interview that i had done whatever six months before.

"Why the ratings are going down so by the way since we're talking about qualifying about talking about qualifying do you like that this weekend martinsville we're not doing a shortened weekend we're not doing a two day race weekend but we're doing an enhanced race weekend listen if i can act it enhanced oh god it's terrible man i don't why are we don't get it they're like if we continue to use marketing words like catching marketing words people will come in watch they will it makes it makes people give less of shit than they usually did really throwing out the profanity this week i it doesn't matter trust me i've spent the majority of this week listening to the listeners at sirius xm radio they don't get fancy marketing words it makes it has no about what any smart fan i would enter sport fan dig only people i think would be fine with fancy marketing words golf fan and tennis fan money sports because those people are in those industries exactly in that team industry that uses these buzz words that makes sense to them however for joe schmo out there just wants to have himself see cargo round circle five hundred laps they don't care about activation anything like that they couldn't care less about that stuff but nascar still shoves it down their throats which like brian france and that whole family needs to leave just debate the sport because they're screwing the pooch and they're screwing the legacy of their father who built it years ago they totally.
