"I really wanted to do a good year guys. I tried so hard. I watched again. And then it's not good. I did then end up just like how shopping and Provence for a while came really afford anything there yet. Some of the French property laws are a little impenetrable to me. But I did my best and I couldn't do it so I'm going with House of Gucci. Because this is what I want Ridley Scott to be doing. And I think the appeal of these mid tier movies are how do you want this just complete expert craftsmen of so many different genres to spend his time and the money that he can secure and the movie stars that he can get. And for me, not to spoil somebody else's pick, but some people may choose very, very long medieval battle. Sequence, and some people may choose a cormac McCarthy novel, and I choose beautiful people in Italy wearing Gucci, you know? I just like, it's one for me. So thank you, sir Ridley. I truly appreciate you. Well, you've effectively previewed my number 5, which is the counselor. I got no shame about this one either. In the same way that I'm like Prometheus is sick. The counselor is sick. Of course, it's a preposterous script by cormac McCarthy. Overwriting his way straight into the moon. Of course, the performances are ridiculous. Fast vendor Penelope cruise Cameron Diaz Javier Bardem Brad Pitt, Rubin blot is a number of other people who are chewing the way I'll choose his way through House of Gucci. Of course, this movie looks beautiful. Of course, the production design and the costumes, the great malkin addresses the car that she humps the bolito that strangles one of the key characters near the end of the film. Unreal. Every little piece is beautiful. It's all the same people that Chris just described we've been working with him for the last ten or 15 years now consistently. This is the same way the house of Gucci takes you in the world. This takes you into a world of high powered Devils. This is the bad place. What all of these people are doing, which is to say, running drugs working with cartels. And you know, using this fast vendor character again is kind of a POV character not unlike the Gaga character taking us into this world. But he too is a piece of shit. And if you are a cockpit character, I don't defend anything the character does. No, I don't, I know. But I think that Ridley also has a real keen interest in the dark heart of man. And that seems a bit pretentious, but it's true. But he's not the author of this movie. You know what I mean? Like it's McCarthy through and through if you've read his stuff in the performances override any of the directions in some ways, it's almost like a stage play adaptation. And he'll fucking do that. It doesn't all need to be so Ridley and my ideas and my thing. He'll be like, oh, I really like this. I really like the Martian. I really like, you know, this bottle of wine or whatever. This David yeast book. And I'll just bake it. It's not too precious. But he does so by also shooting the cheetahs galloping and killing the prey. You know what I mean? Like he's still doing this really, really high tension, beautiful, like basically American Express commercial style photography that is captivating when you have a corporate McCarthy script. So,.

Booby however long ago. And whatever bring back a high fidelity but she's going to be in a soderbergh movie and she is going to be the cat woman in batman and she's also just like the coolest person alive and huge internet star and dating channing. Tatum apparently who like twenty twenty two. We're getting chaining back. Yeah dog right. That's his that's his film. I think he directed. I think he did. Yeah but they're like three..

"Very good. The story was kind of weak. Yes, and honestly, it was kind of weak about John and John Woo is dead. Action movie directors he is so I think it's a good pic. I didn't have it. I have to a war movie if he's in a war movie. I'm going to pick it. That's our next top ten guys this top 10 war movies, and I'm excited because there's a lot of war movies. I actually I'm going to have like I'm a professional war movie critic might want to get into that one. Cuz when I was in college, I took a film studies class that was war movies from 1920 to present. Wow, where we dissected like all these different war movies and every single week. I had to write a ten-page paper on a different movie Ten page paper every week. I thought it was going to be a blow off is it was my hardest class that semester not hard because it was difficult, but it's a lot of work the amount of work you had to do. Yeah, so and I enjoyed it. I loved it but it was a very difficult class and I it exposed me to all these movies these war movies like these, you know fifties and sixties movies that I had never seen sure like mrs. Mid ever loved that movie. And well, we'll talk about it in the top 10 war movies. Okay. My number nine is probably one that not a lot of people would have on their list either. It's a black comedy. Okay, it was directed by Mister sir Ridley Scott sir Ridley Scott and it is Matchstick Men. Oh, I enjoy that movie package you got on your list. I do it has Sam Rockwell in it. And anything if you put Sam Rockwell and Nicholas Cage together, or you have a winning combination of Samsung and moon amazing. If you've never seen the movie moon going out and watch it right now. He's basically the only actor in the entire scene except for there's the guy who's basically blackballed not Kevin Spacey is the voice of Can't say that mean I'm sorry Evan. It has been is a voice of a like computer system. But but this is not a Sam Rockwell list. It's not malicious and Nicholas Cage in true Nicholas Cage fashion in three respects playing a con artist. Yes, with Tourette syndrome and OCD and OCD then like he was made for Nick Ade has to deal with his daughter. Yeah, he gets together with his like long-lost daughter and they're like pulling long..

That lady antebellum might not get to keep their new name lady a because. There's a blues singer in Seattle. who had that name for over twenty years and she says she's not about to give it up. Bet She will want say opponent. Yeah, so we'll see who wins. That could there be a gladiator sandal. Sir Ridley Scott is working on a script. Plans are in place those good at the time, but that was a long time ago, and didn't the guy died at the end. Oh I think Phoenix extended the king I thought. I remember. There was a big fight with the lions. I. Don't remember the. Come despite the League character maximus played by crow being dead. So we have a son or something, be born over some. New That's the whole movie was anybody to revenge son's death? They may live. They believe it's going to be thirty years or like twenty thirty years later twenty five to thirty years later. So, we'll see if they can pull that off and. I will end with this Barbra streisand. Just gave George Floyd's young daughter a gift. So not sure how much she gave little Jonah, but shares go for about one hundred fifteen dollars a pop. So. That's the rover's morning glory. Reggie you're on rover's Morning Glory Reggie. Roby. I had a question about what we're talking about. The evolution and Jesus Christ, so I'm a Christian, but also I like science, so my question would be for you and Charlie. If evolution is what took place. Why isn't there things still evolving like why isn't there? Monkeys become a new humanoids or more things evolving if ever loosened the. We are the we are the thing that evolved, and we continue to evolve, and all animals actually continued to evolve. It's just A. A slow process takes. Millions of years were here for a blink of an eye you and I might live to be eighty or ninety hopefully if we're lucky reggie. So we don't get to, you know it's not like all all of a sudden. A new group of people appear from some monkeys in Africa and we go. Oh, Hey, hey, guys! How's IT GOING Takes millions of years. Enough! That's what I'm saying so over all of these millions of years we will see new type of humans or Different things like it works. Out of the water, neanderthals came under those. Also half half height people to remember them like the Little Dwarf people. Yes, so there are people. They went extinct. So where the new people to evolve us. And I. Don't understand it doesn't you're not going to see one person? Just be some sort of a super person. They might have something totally different like they might have deformity where they have an extra finger and then. That helps them. Get ahead in life. Yes, and that and then their offspring extra fingers, and then that could happen like right now. The cats can new cats that are being out there with an extra thumb, or whatever there's the thumbs hit reply these monkeys, though the thousands of monkeys, not one that's about to change changing it to human huck Um there's no act like like a monkey just gave birth to a human one day. That's not how. Over time they changed for millions of years right so the monkeys that you're looking at today. Theater are not like the monkeys that were two million years ago. They've evolved the worst ones that change into humans. You said that what? You'RE GONNA change. You. You, eight, so there's just one species of monkeys to change on the humans. You're saying it's just one more wall. Monkeys are changing into humans. There's tons of 'em there off shoot. Yes yes, what about our appendix that we don't use? That's not an example potentially of evolution. We're using it at one point or eventually going to be used mind. Still Mind but I take it. That's my point what what does that. What are sinuses therefore? Already holds in our. No a reason the. Atmosphere changed. You know maybe a different time. When the atmosphere is different, we needed on. Off No the. Chains we. Atmosphere Damn. Son. No No. We can do this all day. I've got to take a break. When we come back, we will wrap everything up. "To the inside outside guys on newstalk seven sixteen WJAR for the roof to the basement from the street to the back fence they've got you covered you're a Chuck Bridenstine and Ken Calvert hall player have as much fun as we are we are passionate about all things construction if you have any questions comments or concerns we'd love to hear from you we get another hour can who eight eight eight six five four guys eight eight eight six five four four eight nine seven okay before we go to the phones and talk to Chuck from Livonia I've got you know we all talk about how many emails we get we get a ton of emails but every once in awhile we get email to make a call okay how do we fix this what are you gonna complain about I'm not complaining about anything it's it's let's see I believe it's Karen who's complaining but she has a right to I'm gonna read your email I have several areas in my unfinished concrete slab basement floor where a sticky yellow honey like substance has appeared about every about an area about twelve inches by twelve inches she's cleaned it it's come back it's no order it's sticky it basically it's covered top of filing cabinet other areas like a sticky glaze and she's asking us to have any idea what it is she said it was resembles a honey the way it looks and the way it and what else is in the basement it's got to be a contaminant in the air has to be yeah and you gotta ask yourself okay so no smell I'm not gonna suggest you taste it but it's sticky and it's an amber color so where where were the contaminant becoming from she mentioned she has a lot of iron in the water our yeah but I look at this whole thing it was it was located close to the drain in her floor and the house was built in the early forties so it's definitely a contaminant coming from somewhere if anybody out there is ever seen this we want to hear why here we had out I know is will solve IT solution break it up or will the water solution break it up that's a good question because it might lead us to be able to tell if it's coming in from the pipes if it's a residual from back when we put drain systems around those houses when they were here sixty years ago we use a lot of tar products a lot actually yeah product yeah just thinking if they got a low water table and those we tells are not full that is possible a contaminant could come in through the area yeah potentially and that's the case of a backhoe vendor might plug some of that right yeah and I also want to know if her furnace is down in the same space in it what does she see any indication of any of that product on the furnace that would make sense of it here at our offers itself because it says it's sticking to her steel filing cabinet she's in the Dearborn heights area and one other thing issue circulating error in that space because a lot of those older homes they're not you know they've got a furnace they did not put supply and return air down in those spaces are certainly not sufficiently so yeah let's let's look into that make sure we get an answer back to our people Kathleen it is amazing you mentioned air how many of our interest come back to making sure the air moves in the house it's funny I was thinking that I'm break truly when you walked out of here you got mad at me through your headphones no I really was yesterday you mentioned moving area and I think it's critical remind people that because so many people had water issues yes all space in basements and if you just too many people try to speed up drying out process and do damage doing it but if you just keep moving air through the spaces and drive them out slowly you will generally preserve and protect the structure and a lot of the aesthetics even in the room you may save a wood floor they got wet just by slowly moving a lot of air over in those spores that are in there are going to have a harder time sticking to anything if the error is pushing them around yeah if you're moving around what's your what's going to happen is you're gonna force humidity to be displaced in larger volumes of air which will reduce the relative humidity which will reduce the opportunity for any mold to ever grow so it becomes one of those things that it is cumulative like a domino effect makes perfect sense anyone have any ideas for Karen Durbin heights let us know all right eight eight eight six five four guys equals eight eight eight six five four four eight nine seven that's talked to Chuck in Livonia good morning Chuck you're on with the guys good morning I have to bay windows that have copper caps instead of regular asphalt shingles and I was wondering they were originally lacquered so it maintains the you know bright copper shine for quite a few years but it's been over thirty years now and the lacquered wearing off in the third box today do you know of anyone who could come out in their their sound I don't want them re done it's just going to cost more money they don't leak is there anyone you know approved clout and stripped those copper taps and did let him oxidize naturally intern like a dark brown color boy that's a good question that's that's really is a specially we have to have somebody that does that and I don't have that my book with me here can't keep can you possibly send us an email because I know we've got a company that does that actually yeah I can yeah it's hard to find anyone it's hard to find anyone that can be that kind of work and it is when the when the guy did it come out wanted to redo them you know and it's it's going to cost a fair amount of money as opposed to this cleaning a lot well I wouldn't touch him if they're if they're not leaking hi how's it why would you want to redo them no a lot of times depending on who did that work a lot of the reason they don't leak is because what they did below the copper that you're actually saying but then the good copper people also mechanically can make those beautifully leak proof as well so I agree with you don't have no don't don't don't disturb them but just clean themselves yeah we'll find a company if you can give us an email and that we we've got I know we've got what we refer to in the past for the same thing so if you send us an email dated okay guys dot com we'll get that back to the next week's show will put out to the audience make sure they get it as well they work three jobs thank you very much thank you Sir Ridley preaching to call well I'm glad he recognizes the importance of not touching those I agree I agree it more there is an art form to installing metal roofs without underlayment you know I don't know how old these are he told us the don't leak you know the old churches did a really well the S. sequels and it was it was one of those points once it's done well yeah I'll leave it alone you're right you're right Hey coming up after the next segment we're gonna give you an the way that you can clean those ugly ugly oil stains off of your driveway your solution my thoughts on my solution but you know this basement problem with the yellow sticky stuff I was thinking of the potential for contaminants in the duct work in her basement right all good thinking you're right yeah we recommended amnesty yesterday for Errol seal to seal from the inside yeah doc works exactly and tell you the success we're here in the the homeowners were happy how much better the heirs get around their house once they do that but there was the and they're thrilled to death so we're gonna make this next segment inside outside guys brought to you by Amnesty air duct cleaning keeping America going and keeping each other safe at Walmart our associates are aiming to do both so we're working to support them while they do by extending our leave policy through the end of may to protect us so she it's a job that they.

"Yeah it's creepy. You don't know what he's going to do like you've already known that he's a really bad guy and then all of a sudden they start singing. You've got the whole world in his hands and he's holding this child. It's disturbing that's in your like. Is he going to murder this child because you assume he would do that because of how bad they've already like propped them up to be and then this other bad? Guy Nicholas Cage or Cameron Poe. You think he's the bad guy but he ends up saving the plane saving all these people. He's a good guy because he was in the army before this. It's like I'm like King. You know I mean Nicholas Cage can be a good joe exotic but because of this role. That's why exotic. I think you're right. I don't know I loved it. I watched it all the time. I think it's really great. It's a fun movie. It actually is a pretty good movie. They're not going to disagree with you. Who's this other guy? I'm Michael Karp. Dunkin was more. Yeah he's in it too but there's the other guy that was the cop and I can't remember who it was. Let me see. Everybody will know him when I find out who it is. Shoot the Jerry Bruckheimer movie by the way. But I don't know this is when Nicholas Cage was like yes. John Malkovich John Cusak in elementary thing. Ramos. Not Michael Clark down. It was being rame. Sorry Right Danny Trae. Oh yeah forgot Dave Chapelle PELS in it yet. Tons of people are in this movie and it is so good at gross over two hundred twenty four million dollars on a production budget of seventy five million tells you it's not a bad movie. Definitely I loved it. It's on my top ten. It will always be in my top ten for ninety movies because it is Sochi. Perfect number was up for you. Sorry Seven summit so my number six series. Yes Oh this is one where I might get a an okay. I want to throw some out there real quick because when I was talking about Desperado jumped in my mind like Quentin Tarantino one of my favorite filmmakers of all time and then I thought about on like well I base my list off of. Imdb just how. We did it for the eight movies based the nineties movies. Stop the top one hundred. I M D movement. Imdb movies so he didn't base it off of like what you like. No no I looked at the top one hundred and I picked my top ten out of that on my own. Oh Yeah but you know I looked at it and I don't. I didn't put any Quentin Tarantino movies on my top ten because I don't really consider them action movies right and there is a specific like I don't know there's like a specific thing that we considered action movies. There's a I don't know why. But like Quentin Tarantino movies to me. Don't feel like action movies so I didn't on my list like pulp. Fiction is one of my favorite movies of all time. Jackie Brown of my favorite movies action. Yeah so I didn't throw them on but I thought that was odd when I started thinking about it because I threw Robert Rodriguez movie an which is very similar to Quentin Tarantino movie but anyway two point. Yeah I just want to throw that out there. Do we already did Gwen Tarantino List. At one time in this podcast but we. It wasn't an official. We can do it official one anyway. My number six is a movie that a lot of people might not even remember honestly came out in one thousand nine hundred nine. It had George Clooney Mark Wahlberg and Ice Cube in it three kings yup one of my favorite movies of all time. And I'm not even kidding about that really. It's a Spike Jones movie and it isn't during the Iraq war and they're like basically on a heist to steal. Yeah but it was the first one. Oh Desert Storm. Now they are on a heist to steal gold from one of Saddam Hussein's bunkers. Like for most of my young life up until probably. I was in college. This was one of my favorite movies of all time. And probably even still is still is one of my favorite movies of all time. Yes it's not really. I don't know if it's really an action movie. Although I think it is yes. It is absolutely unbelievable movie that I think a lot of people probably haven't seen I have. Yeah so I think you should go out of your way to check out everything George and Mark Wahlberg and ice cube. All three of them work very well together in this movie they are. It's kind of. I think it was like an independent movie but gross two hundred seven million dollars on a forty dollar budget. Spike Jones. Obviously is a huge. Yeah he did like a lot of movies. What's one this jumping in my head to spike Jones's did spike downs? I know he did where the wild things are but I think he did. Yeah being John Malkovich. He did adaptation which is one of my favorite movies of all time with Nicholas Cage. Have you ever seen adaptation? I have basically everything Nicholas Cage. He One Academy Award for that movie anyway. He he did her to with Joaquin Phoenix Anyway. So three kings great movie George. Clooney love it. That's number six mine. Number six is not anywhere close to yours but it's another nostalgia pick because that's what I do. I pick movies that I remember from the nineties that I watched all the time right. Yeah because there are things that I love these are movies that I love and this involves Kiana raves. Okay movie that would be Point break speed. Oh yeah okay I know I know I get it. No it's fine actually wrote it down here just not most people's top ten for action movies like it's not necessarily like actually made me all that made me think about is the fact that point break is not my role right What a great movie though so I get. It's not like something you would acclaim as the best acting in the world. No sure you wouldn't but nick is phenomenal because it's early in his career. He's doing a like as much as he possibly can. Most good is that Sandra Bullock Movie. Sandra bullock is fanning. The best. Yes Andy Bullock. Is The one driving the bus folks? Yeah and if you don't know they have to keep it above fifty miles an hour fifty five miles an hour or they'll all blow up. Spoilers that's nerve wracking yeah it no it is there's GonNa Reeves is like busted. Open hatches in the bottom of the bus hanging underneath. He's fighting that one guy. I think Jeff Daniels is the bad guy. I don't remember. I think he know Dennis. Hopper freaking Dennis Hopper is a bad guy you mean Dennis Hopper from waterworld. All the time walled. Don't even get me started waterworld because waterworld is one of my favorite. That's was that an movie. Yeah definitely List now I should have put it on the Postman's list either so we're GONNA have to Redo this anyway. Dennis Hopper is like the ultimate bad guy every time you see him even if he's acting as a good guy you assume he's the bad guy he looks like a bad guy. He is a bad guy in this movie. And Cana ribs defeats him. Because he's the best and Sandy Bullock Anne. Her name is in the movie Knows how to drive a frequent bus man. That's right I love speed. Watch speed right now. All right I'M GONNA go with my number five. Which is another one top top. Five here folks. Here's a film that a lot of people might not even remember or think about but it is a a nine nine hundred. Ninety eight action thriller directed by the younger brother of Sir. Ridley Scott Mr Tony Scott famous director produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Because it's the ninety. Yeah Starring a little a fledgling star called Will Smith. Oh and also a veteran actor called Gene Hackman. Is this enemy of the state. You're correct sir. It is and the State Jon Voight Lisa Bone on Jon. Voight great great movie. I have loved this movie ever since I was a kid. I've it's been always in Mike. My top ten or twenty movies of all time yeah. I don't know why I gravitated towards this movie that everybody else in the world forgot but no. I didn't forget it. I absolutely loved this movie. I think it was first of all it was one of the first I will. Smith is fantastic as his phenomenal knack. Really Great in all movies and this I think was probably post Independence Day. Which was probably his but it was. You know this is gene. Hackman is amazing. This movie as well freaking good. I just absolutely loved this movie. I see on TV now. And I stop and watch the entire thing. Yeah if I see like on. Tbs Yeah that's where you're going to see sa enemy the estate absolutely love it. That's my number five. My number five is a again like all of my picks are things that I have enjoyed in my childhood and remember watching from the nineties like the nineties for something that I grew up in right so like. That's those of the movies that I remember are from the ninety so they may be different than like critically acclaimed movies. This movie I picked as number five because it was like the Modern Day James Bond to me and I watched de and the mission impossible. Well that's not James by it is it's like the modern. Dame's like the modern James Bond movies all through the nineties. I understand a little Guinea. What's his name Pierce Brosnan? Yeah Pierce Brosnan. I get it a movie called Goldeneye. I understand we'll get to that. The world is not enough. I'm saying it's a modern day. United States version of James Bond. Like it was a newer take on a character similar to that plus. I mean age and dreamy a thriller that had to do with crime and You know a secret agent type person it was a new take was the different than James Bond but my mom announce James Let's change. What does the donor. No No. No I think you're on that do not let's change. What's the song for mission impossible? You were on it like it's bomber mamone. Now that's James Bond to quit. "Joining me will be talking about the Buckeyes the all big ten teams all of that stuff coming up throughout the hour you can be part of the show many of you have already I betta at Matt McCauley radio on Twitter you have a comment or question we'll get to some of those Tony the week that was the the win over Illinois the lost to Michigan state I feel like it even though yesterday got away from there was there was more good than bad over the past week winning that home game against Illinois and there's really no shame and I guess losing to the conference champions on their floor on senior day for Cassius Winston will matter I agree with the I think the the key when the key part of the week was the way to get solved all of and not just because of retrospect they wanted it was a game that I think Ohio state really had to get solidified spot both the big ten tournament and it's with a five spot C. H. R. but you know trying to trying to think you're gonna go to Michigan state beat Michigan state on their senior night it's kind of like buying a lottery ticket I'd be disappointed if you don't want a lot of really read more Sir Ridley gonna win the lottery probably not and you're probably not going to win that game especially with Michigan state play yell I think for your good basketball for such and you know so I think I was the one to go in there and I think realistically as fans as people and once you see what we wanted to see was the employee well and I think we saw them play well for.

"Golden oldie have not played it in how long ago was it that Kylie did the guess what's in the dumpster I don't know maybe maybe she would know because I don't remember now I introduce Kyleigh hello Hey how long was it I want to say it was October twenty eighteen but that is based on a year and a half wow yes it's been awhile yeah I was just so impressed that after that horrific bruising wound that you got from the dumpster diving that you would do it again but I am still **** about the bruise not real you're not a little naira anyway will be given out cool prizes later on and I believe it's some calling cultures into their prizes yes can I get some of those tickets just for participating in the game no I tried to turn their owners now dammit you get nothing you lose okay you got it you got to quit I tried the other day we can't control any of that stuff we give it away but I think it's it's a good price okay I'm gonna hand you a piece of paper on this piece of paper and no pressure no I just want to see this is a story about a counterfeit bill that made the news and they have a front and back image of this counterfeit bills I'm gonna slide this over to you and I want to see how fast you can identify the counterfeit part of the bill okay okay way three two I'm so nervous one gov okay under the our bill huh it says for motion picture use only okay okay where's the other one what about the other yeah the other time it says most about all right yes yes you pass you pass with flying colors but you know who did not pass this guy at the gas station is a clerk at a gas station in Middlesex counties south Brunswick that's where the police call was is this guy hands him a phony hundred that was literally a movie prop for motion picture use only but other than that it looks very much like a hundred dollar bill and the guy looked at it I assume any disorder pocketed it and the guy drove away but then not sure how they tracked them down but detectives tracked down the twenty year old guy from Somerset County who handed it to the gas attendant and it does not say if he is or is not being charged but he told the cops when they caught up with them no surprise the guy took the money yeah he tried he tried yeah so he so he can't pretend like it was a joke what a dumb thing for him to say yeah he's that that's an admission he knew it was fake he could pass this off like I thought this was real I got it from some guy I'm just as stupid as he is exactly that's I would assume that's all you gotta do it would help right but no you did well you did well thank you I think more gas station attendants need you over their shoulder saying can you find what's wrong well you knew going in to look for something right they don't you never seen you've never come across a bill that you thought was counterfeit that you now have you this is a frequent thank I had a bill once that was sold before all the changes for the security purposes right and it was sold I was at a target and oddly enough it was the one in south Brunswick risen with friends whatever but they they bring a manager over the brunt of the clerks over they were thinking it was counterfeit issues are washed out not even so washed out just because it looks so different yes it looks so different because it was such an old school bill Walker and it was before all of these enhancements that they've made over the years it was just that old but it wasn't all that tattered which was odd you would think it would be and I started getting questions and then in the end they finally realize no this is real this is just old but I was like we sweat bullets I would be nervous you know it was odd because like I'll get nervous about everything but I was really nervous about that because I I I knew I had no knowledge of it being fake okay so I I didn't really think that if the cops came if it got to that point I didn't think I'd have any issue I would get so nervous that I would convince myself that I was doing this knowingly maybe I didn't do I'd say so what you have you ever had something like a close call the county building I can't remember ever having a counterfeit bill or even suspecting at a counterfeit bill but I truth be told I don't look that closely at my money I just take it and go you know that's the thing too I don't either and I don't know how many people do probably very few you just kind of assume it's good to go mmhm actually when you're being handed back change from you know a store there's almost always somebody behind you you don't to be a pain and just like stand there and look at every bill before you stuff away right you know once you take it it's yours yeah yeah all right so listen we would like to know what one eight hundred two eight three one a one point five what would you do if you found counterfeit money if somebody paid you with it and I guess you know this could be any kind of scenario I mean like you could be the store clerk or you could be the customer at the store or whatever what about those people get from a bank and they're supposed to know better and it has they're the ones who handed you fake money good luck in that exchanged what I hear about that correct me if I'm wrong anybody but I I hear that if you walk away from that counter like if you do it the old fashioned way out at a teller window mmhm that that's it you leave the bank it's going to be yours right that they don't have to honor anything and even as they know even if they remember you from two minutes ago and they can just say that well too bad you switched it out yourself and here's the thing I know what you're supposed to do I know that you're not supposed to use it but if you got duped and you didn't notice it and catch it later and maybe you don't even know where you got it especially I want most of it's going to be tempted to just pass along the same way that somebody passed along to you maybe not knowing now you didn't know now you've got it and yeah probably a lot of people just think you know I'm just gonna keep the chain going yeah the your first thought is certainly going to be I don't want to take the loss you know what I did nothing wrong why should I be punished but then again if you get caught you will be the one who gets punished if they make the case in the court believes it that you really did it knowingly yes yeah you could you could get really nailed for it I just think it's a highly really prove it have a really prove you I mean if you're the counterfeiter if you've got like an operation in your basement and your crank in the mail that's really really really want if you're just the guy that's got like one or two bills and you're not really trying to prey on society and you just kind of trying to pass it along I don't know how the authorities are really going to prove that you have the knowledge and have the intent I think they prove it when you say I was surprised he took it well that in this in this case at the gas station yeah Sir Ridley stupid move earned yeah and I don't know why it doesn't mention if it's going to be charged or not they just they do not know yet maybe this is mulling it over I don't know yeah I got to admit and I no longer don't take this as advice because this is doing the wrong thing this would be breaking the law but I would probably try to claim ignorance because I wouldn't want to take the loss on it if it's a twenty okay maybe but if it's like two or three hundred dollar bills you're not gonna get the money back no you're not you can write it off on your taxes what I understand right but that's not the full amount of course right it's just like if you do just get a little bit back so yeah so if you ever if you were ever in that situation let us know what happened but even just in theory what do you think you would do if you.

I don't think we're too keen on on getting his head but I'd certainly would talk to them on behalf of you folks. That's a really bad idea. Why is that what would happen? You don't want him to know you've been talking to us in wise that because he'll kill us in your against him and he finds out he'll do something I don't know then I'll have to get his head out. Sounds like a deal then should we. I wish you didn't get rid of that spoon. That just gave good food. "This is fresh air I'm Terry gross let's get back to my interview with New York times reporters robin poker bin and Kate Kelly authors of the new book the education of Brett Kavanaugh they cover the Cavanaugh confirmation hearings after the hearings the related FBI investigation and Kavanaugh's confirmation polarize the country poker bin and Kelly continued to investigate allegations against him they report what they found in their new book note to parents we'll be discussing the sexually related allegations. let's talk about the Deborah Ramirez story she is a woman who came forward and had our own allegations about Brett Kavanaugh would you describe her allegations. yes her allegations were that at a party freshman year in the freshman dorm on old campus switches the quad where most freshmen live she recalls being part of a drinking game with a rather small group of mostly guys with drinks being passed around presumably beer where she was continually and repeatedly targeted to drink kind of drink drink Debbie drank. which she did to access and she had never had alcohol on in any meaningful way before coming to Yale and that at some point there was a kind of a fake **** in her face she swatted it away and then subsequently there was a real **** thrust in her face and when she looked up she saw Brett Kavanaugh pulling up his pants and laughing and all of his friends who were also in the drinking game laughing as well which she found on incredibly humiliating and an experience that stayed with her she also told me she remembers somebody yelling Brett Kavanaugh just put his **** and then his face that's right someone yelling down the hall. so different marriage was never called to testify at the hearings out why not. that was a real subject of interest for us is that this was a story that kind of never got its due it ended up being kind of lumped in with other allegations that were. Sir Ridley less corroborated as kind of a piling on of Cavanaugh you also had the Republicans in charge of the process and they clearly have no interest in adding yet another story and another of potential victim to sit at the public dialogue and giving her the legitimacy of sort of a public forum so although she was made available to the Senate Judiciary Committee and then her lawyer is ultimately gave the FBI a list of more than two dozen potential witnesses who could add credence to her story ultimately see Judiciary Committee determines that her allegations were not relevant to the process what do you think is the importance of her story to the larger Brett Kavanaugh story. I think it's a really important point I'm glad you asked which is you know there are plenty of people who you talk to about the Ramirez allegations and to the extent that they are aware of them they kind of say what's the big deal a and you can see from the outside how that perspective is conceivable I mean basically someone exposing himself to her at a at a drunken dorm party you could dismiss that as just so much kind of drunken juvenile find boys being boys if she were made of stronger stuff maybe she would have just said get that out of my face and gone on with her life what's important in and what my reporting really revealed was that it's essential to look at the background of a person like Deborah Ramirez and indeed anyone who comes into a place like Yale that has made me sort of newly sensitive to this idea that not everyone comes into college equally equipped to navigate situations like that she was raised in working class Shelton Connecticut her father was a cable splicer she was in a very kind of strict kind of Catholic upbringing did things by the book academically distinguished not at all experienced sexually or in terms of alcohol and also somewhat at a disadvantage financially sh her family had to scrape together money for her to get through Yale in addition to getting loans she worked in the college dining halls so that is sort of the background she comes to Yale with and she's also has Porter Rican heritage and as we know now there is a lot more sensitivity to the experience of people of color but at the time there were jokes on campus that she experienced of people saying you know how to get in here is it because you're Porter weekend even something as callous as like hide the knives when she came into the room and also frankly making fun of her clothes her kind of knock off air Jordan sneakers the fact that she had joined the cheerleading. squad so she already felt behind the eight ball Gail had a real deep sense of inadequacy that maybe she didn't belong there and wasn't to be able to hack it so this experience with cabin on only confirmed those insecurities in a way that was formative. she said the dumb she had never touched a **** before this was like the first time and it was unwillingly and she had expected the first time this happened and it would be with her husband this is one of the reasons why she found the whole incident just so upsetting. yeah I mean as I talk to her really struck me Terry that she could not recall these events and we count them of thirty six five years ago without we thing and I've done enough of these me two stories to see that even with a spectrum of experience sometimes it's kind of verbal harassment all the way towards more sort of sexual aggression that these experiences stay with these women and continue to resonate no matter how very no matter whether they told people are not at the time they don't go away and that is clear with this experience that for her the humiliation of it was almost as bad as just kind of the sexual experience itself that just having people laugh at her is really what actually stands out in her mind the most which is interesting because it dove tail so much with what bloody Ford said about kind of remembering the laughter in the room when when she was allegedly attacked do you see our mayor is a story as lending more credibility to bless you for its story. I see those lending credibility in this picture of you know now how we start ups have come to understand this young man which is that he grew up in this Migliore that was largely male he went to an all male high school it was kind of he was very much associated with athletes there was a currency that was kind of jocular and disparaging of women in a casual you know perhaps only verbal way serve ironically that that Brett Kavanaugh is not like a ladies man he he kind of didn't really have the moves he didn't get the girls and that's kind of why he seems to have relied on alcohol conceivably to kind of make himself feel a little more socially relax because you know he wasn't necessarily that adapt and so there's kind of this ham handed quality of let's say you know pawing at Christine bloody Ford's bathing suit or if you know if this thrusting his **** into Deborah marriages face that is sort of all of a piece with a certain kind of juvenile behavior that said you know we did find after considerable taking that in the thirty six years since these allegations he he basically grew up he he he you know in our view became a better man either because he sort of consciously sought to reform these ways or he just simply matured into a person who actually ended up promoting women in terms of his own practice the hiring female clerks to a notable degree and and promoting women in the profession and being a family man and having daughters of his own who's basketball team he coaches and actually being an individual who people speak highly of in terms of character and and professional just behavior on both sides of the aisle. are there other women who have come forward since the Cavanaugh hearings. you know basically what we have this one other allegation that has never been reported it surfaced at the time where there was another incident at a Yale party it was a different party but was also freshman year where everybody was strong cabin always with his friends in a group his pants were down and his friends brought him over to a woman named Traci Harmon her her married name is Joyce so she's now Tracy Harmon choice and that a classmate named Max dire. now what kind of works in nonprofit good government organization in Washington remembers seeing Kavanaugh's friends put his **** in Tracy's hands Max tire brought that story to the to members of the Senate at the time he also made the FBI aware of it and neither pursued it certainly the FBI didn't in any meaningful way and Max Steiner has as a present as a result decided not to speak publicly about it kind of feeling that he did his part and in trying to make the appropriate authorities aware of what he observed at the time and they didn't pursue it so he had no interest in and resurfacing those allegations but they came up in our reporting from a number of different directions and they clearly do add sort of yet another layer to that kind of college experience that that the Ramirez story describes. my guess or New York times reporters robin pogo bin and Kate Kelly who covered the Brett Kavanaugh hearings their new book is called the education of Brett Kavanaugh our interview was recorded last Thursday over the weekend the times published an article pogo bin and Kelly adapted from their book that led to calls for Kavanaugh's impeachment the article included the new allegation we were just talking about based on the statements by cavernous classmate Max dire dinner times later added an editor's note that the female student the alleged victim of the incident declined to be interviewed and friends say she doesn't recall the incident that information was included in the book but not in the original times article or in our interview we'll hear more of our interview after a break this is fresh AIR. WNYC.

"You mean to go on? It has how you mean it's funny, my I think people, you know, you, it's very, very far from Hollywood. And I think they expect you to come and be like, you know, this kind of Hollywood star, and it was, like I was like, dude, I grew up on a fall. I grab it onto my nails. So I feel like I'm going back to my roots of it. And you're also, you know, you're, you've approaches just recently announced with Vicky juiston with whom you worked on close as well. And so you're finding knees. I love of working with the same people growing digging deeper. I was texting with Daniele Spinoza yesterday, who's a good friend of mine with the child for four. We want to do something else. I you know, I, I like to come back to people and I like when he can be rude, you know, and you have a shortcut when you don't need to do this kind of polite fans of getting to know each other. Yeah. I really liked to, to, to have relationships. They you've all with you grow with the he I wanna get old with people that I know you know. Cut devotion this three before. You come full me, and is it different when you find a director that you wanna work with again? Then I mean, I in, in the best thing is when you have a director saying you, my muse, you know, you inspire me and, and, you know, when they can see you adopt into different characters and become different personalities. And you know, I can be that can be skinny can be, you know, I can't be told about. Try we're still in someone. Actually, at some point that I could play a man can be can be avoi-. It could be a man. Look quite boyish. So I mean, and, and it's it feels like it's, it's an amazing thing when you have relationship with someone that, that you can grow with basically 'cause they, you can just go deep. It's like it's like an onion you peel off more and more layers than really go into the core of everything to find the actors get better as they get older totally. Yeah. Yeah. Why is that? I mean I experienced. Yeah, and we keep I mean is also, you know, every movie I saw I saw it from zero. You never you. I mean there's one thing you like, yeah, you do know. You get older. You have more knowledge, you have a body of work. You know you have a whole library of things in you. But at the same time you need to be humble because it doesn't matter, you know, if I don't do it, if I don't find the honesty in this specific character, it doesn't matter what I've done before. So is this kind of constant, like someone's like a terra balance between knowing and not knowing you know, and I love that, anything, you know, that's why you meet a met, Susan serandon in, in LA, and I was totally like blown away by her beauty, and her intelligence and she's so so beautiful stunning. And I'm like, you know, she felt so h less, and I, I've seen that with actors, you know, like, we don't really it's almost like its own breed. You know, because we keep we like kids, like super excited and terrified. Job calls for you to be different things different times. And every job, visit challenge, you know, something that you haven't done before that was interesting. What you said that the release said to you Ridley like Noam. Ridley say to you, sir. Ridley that said to you, you know, you, you don't need to prove anything to me, right? I mentioned that for most actress still whenever the starting a new project to prove something to themselves..
