"Our this will hit you right in the heart. You look at our fullback position. Brad Roberts did a heck of a job for us last year, the first time in that role And I think between him and Omar Fatah, an email and Michelle will get really, really good play from from there. And then our offensive line. We have to replace all five starters. And those guys, I mean, they've hit it hard in the weight room. You've done a good job here initially in our full camp, and their guys are going to be good players, I think certainly in 2022. We just wanted to be in 2021 question. We need to wrap it now. Okay, well, we'll try as we are. We wrap up here. I I want to wish you the very best this season. I know that it's Boy, you're in the post Covid area kind of getting back to normal. And, uh And and we I look forward to the game in Arlington against Army and you've got one on 9 11 against Navy. So some special service Academy games this year. So I wish you the very best and, uh, that we can bring home that commander in chief trouble. Well, thanks a bunch, Quentin and again, do you and Dennis for the remarkable work that you do, and, uh, to promote freedom and the opportunities for everybody, So thank you. Thank you, Coach. We appreciate your joining us. We're proud to have you as a part of our team. Yes, sir Denis. Now we're going to take a moment to honor a great patriotic American who recently reported for duty at Heaven share a bit about our honoree, Josh. This week's fallen Hero report honors a Houston veteran who died of a treatable illness after he was forced to wait too long for an ICU bed due to the surge in Delta variant covid hospitalizations. Fox News reported that Daniel Wilkinson age. 46, who had served two tours in Afghanistan, fell ill on August 21st. The following day, His family took him to the ER, where he was diagnosed with gall stone pancreatitis. His mother said the doctors told her they knew how to treat him. They just needed to get him to an intensive care unit with the proper staff and equipment, which that hospital did not have. His mother said. The doctors and nurses called all the hospitals in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Colorado and couldn't get him an ICU bed. She said. Every minute that he was refused an ICU bed. He was dying. The doctor said his organs were already starting to shut down. By Sunday her son had died. His mother said. It's still unreal, and I know he's not the only person in that type of situation. And that's one reason why I have been willing to tell this story and put it out there because it could be anybody's mother, sister or daughter. They need the help and it shouldn't be put off. His mother said her son was diagnosed with PTSD upon returning from Afghanistan but otherwise had no history of serious health problems. She said he loved his country. He didn't mind going over there. He needed to do what he needed to do. Soldier, Daniel Wilkinson or set in by the loss of your fighting spirit. Man who served his country bravely. May your family find peace in their time of loss, and may you forever rest in peace. Colonel Danny Gillam. Next up..

"Adventurous. Honda accord civic. Crv pilot and yeah even the passport. So don't you dare break out that pumpkin spice latte. It's still summer and you can still save during the honda summer sales event. See your local honda dealer today. And now let's get to the tale of the tape for both of our combat. Ray please give us the details on any yasha is a half human half demon warrior who exists in the feudal sengoku period of japan. He was created by rumiko takahashi and first appeared in the manga. The accursed youth in hundred ninety six. The anime yasha is really the story of a girl named me who garage who is pulled from our world to send goku japan. Because she is the reincarnation of a powerful character from that time named kikia there she teams up with yasha find the shards of the she con jewel. Because it's an anime with his dog. Ears and sharp claws into yasha displays. His half demon side and a very forward facing way. His demonic background gives him super strength speed durability that combined with his ability with the sword makes him very formidable in combat. Fun fact despite being set in a very specific place and time enu yasha creator. Rubicon takahashi didn't bother to do any research at all into the sengoku period. At first this may seem weird but in japan this period is a very common setting in stories so it would be no different than an american author doing no extra research into the wild west time period for a story since all of us have a general idea of what that's supposed to look like anyways and also you know when you add monsters to the setting it becomes whatever you say it is at that point anyway and that is into yasha. I gotta tell you when you add monsters to historical setting it just it just. It's like adding cream like any dessert. You can pick up a good thing to do. It's just a good thing to do. Make all right here. The details per shane. She now shane. Cheaper superior marvel special edition number fifteen in december of nineteen seventy-three and was created by jim starling. And steve englehart boo man. Shoo fathered shanxi to create the perfect living weapon to accomplish his goals of conquering the world. Change spent his childhood owning his mind and body to peak condition to serve his father in any way he could. It wasn't until adulthood where he found out how evil his father truly was. Change within partner up with his father's enemies sir denis dalen smith and blackjack tar and despite the rough beginning they proved to be a strong team together they foil boom manchus devious plans over and over since then change. He is clearly plan himself as a mainstay. Within marvel's heroes having been a member of numerous teams including the avengers and cemented himself as a key player in defending the earth. And here's an interesting fact about shanxi. Did you know that the character shane ci was by drum roll. Please bruce lee is true. Remember shane schieffer's appeared in one thousand nine hundred eighty three in december a little bit. After a bruce lee died it was the same year so in the case of change. Bruce lee was definitely template. According to roy thomas shanxi design was based on bruce lee. One hundred percent he said shanxi was often drawn to look a lot like him but the similarities didn't end their original artist. Paul glassy stated. What i try to do at the time was bruce lee back in a sense when bruce lee died about the man of kung-fu comic was the only outlet for bruce lee type. That's how i saw shane chee. It was a continuation of his legacy of intelligence philosophy and moral codes and a person who tried to only fight for the right reason. And now you have the facts on both opponents prank. Do you have any questions before we get started. I suppose this is a level playing field. So the only question that i would have is more so a request to to make sure that whatever wherever they come from there's energy from that land. The question i have for you is is. Are they still able to channel this him. So the we try to present these characters at at their full power level. We don't want anybody in the door. The assumption is that wherever they are their energy from on both sides. They're going to have that energy for the battle then gentlemen. I'm very excited to see where we go with this other. I love it. Yeah absolutely now ray. This is going to be a tough fight because this is really an unconventional matchup. But that's what we do best for. Who win with all that being said. Hit us with your point number. One point number one four yasha. The first thing i want to talk about is the fact that he's a half demon. His father was a very powerful dog demon and his mother was a human great but this also means that he has some of the advantages of being a demon and also not some of the same weaknesses as being a demon. He's a little bit like blade in that regard. Who's half vampire still. Don't know how that works. But he is a half demon so he has that going for him now. What does that mean first off. He's an atom character and a half demon which means he has the jumping ability to jump very very very high in the air. He is a character that is often fighting very very large creatures or creatures that are flying around in the air around him and he always seems to have the ability to jump as high as he needs to jump from the ground in order to get up in their faces and do clause in swords and all the things that he needs to do so shanxi. I've seen fight in combat. He can jump a little bit but he cannot jump to the level of an yasha so when it comes to having the high ground in a martial arts battle which i know is very very important in asia is always going to have the high ground because of this very superior jumping ability. Also he's got enhanced strength and speed like i mentioned before he hasn't hansjoerg straight to the point where we've seen him lift boulders above his head that are roughly the same size as himself puts it in the multi ton category of strength. So it comes down to doing a strike feet. I know that shanxi can do martial arts so well. It's basically like a superpower but it'll yasha actually seems to have real superpowers superstring super speed. He's a character who's dodged lightening before that we've seen. He's also got a very cool. That red robe that he wears is more than just kind of just a piece of cloth. That's known as the robe of the fire rap and that also offers him some tough armor that helps protect him for a lot of bashing damage. And guess what martial artists like the hit you a lot with their legs and with their fists and if he can hit on some parts of the robe that's going to help tank some of that damage it also presents shipped with some regenerative properties so he could take damage and then get back into the fight without having to see the after effects of a lot of that damage which is what allows them to have some of these larger scale. There say anime fights that he likes to have on his show. This is a character who gets hit a lot. This is a character who gets thrown around and thrown into walls a lot because he's often fighting characters who are bigger and stronger than he is what he tends to win these battles and when it comes down to it he tends to win these battles pretty easily on top of the sword which i'll into my point number two. He has something called sang-kon tests and that's a claw power he's able to channel demonic energy or yokthai around him and it's he's able to channel that into his claws allowing him to rip and tear a little bit harder go a little bit deeper and cut through things that normally you wouldn't be able to cut through with big powerful fingernails. It's not quite wolverine. But it's not that far off from wolverines power either. We've seen him use that particular. Power deter demon such as mistress centipede. Very early on in the series is crazy powerful character stole may from the other dimension and brought her into the feudal japan area and he was able to once he got free and once he got himself powered up off the tree. He was able to use these closet. Just tear that creature to pieces. We've seen them used to absolutely cut down trees. We've seen them use it to cut down boulders we've seen them used all kinds of items and characters. That is just absolutely devastated. What was in front of him and the last power i want to talk about. Here's one called blades of blood. Which is by drenching his claws into his own blood which he can just do by sinking them into the palms of his own hands. He can charge the blood with that demonic energy and sling it at his enemy like a barrage of crescent shaped blades. That's that's just a powerful attack. It's a big surprise attack that a guy like sharing chee might not see coming mike. Catch them by surprise. Might be enough to devastate him. If it hits and that's my point number one is a lots of interesting facts about yasha rake character. i actually love the the the array of abilities Has the you know the ability to throw that those blood kind of crescent shaped objects. That's avenue in very original. Really really cool the wolverine type of stuff. I think that's not horribly are from being accurate you know the site. He's like a superpower being called. What it is you know being half demon so keep that. He's a leader of a shonen anime. So obviously there's going to be a lot of growth with this character. He's going to get stronger and he's absolutely going to start at a powerful level. Got it now. This character is barefoot. Correct that is correct and other than the normal durability that that he has as this half demon character he does. His rogue does not to his feet. That is correct skull. His feet potentially liability put on some shoes. Yasha we were talking about before the show shula's characters. I don't know i'd rather wear shoes. Can't handle the monkey loopy with berkinstocks. Okay with that. Not okay with that either. Okay around the same page. And then also so his hands is feet and his head are not covered by this robe. Is that correct. That is correct. Yeah those are the those are the only spots that are not covered because he's he's mostly covered by this thing. But the extremities are out there. Got it okay. And this internal energy has. It's almost like a cheat would you. Would you kind of say it's demonic power inside of him. I don't think it's drastically different as far as how it works in the world then a cheap power got me. Okay is different. I'm not going to say it's the same thing but practical purposes. It's pretty similar got it okay. Great all good stuff here. Let me get to my point number one. We're gonna to start even out that playing field real quick. So the point of this whole thing is at shane. Chea- when you start off in a baseball form. This is a peak human according to marvel standards so that means a peak human is well above and olympic athlete. But that cuban is is well above that olympic athlete in every category of physicality can think of so he's peak in strength speed durability agility reflexes intelligence all that kind of gets up that's where he starts off but that's where he ends up because now he is also a master of using his chief remember. He's been training since a child. Not just an external martial-arts but also in internal martial arts to hyper charge or super develop is cheap. That is now. His superpower is his ability to use his chee and use it in a whole bunch of different ways so he can uses g to amp up his strength. His speed is agility his reflexes You know how can how are you can all that kind of good stuff to superhuman levels. This is really really cool now when it comes to durability this is where he's hyper charged. This is actually kind of cool. What happens is when sutton attack comes soon. Hits them with that kinetic force whether it's magical supernatural energy base or just someone hitting in some way shape or form what happens is his chee can actually redirect that force all over his body so imagine thousand pounds hitting him in the face. It's actually going to be one pound here. One pound on the side of the head. One time on the shoulder it gets dispersed evenly to feels like maybe a little bit of a shove now on top of all that with his chee he can also detect other people's chee with it. That's what i was asking about that yoga energy that he has now the reason that's important because when he can detect that chee he can analyze it. You can understand it and you can feel it and he can tell okay got it. This person is a lot going on. There's a lot of power here now. I know how to kind of make my strategy here by the way this elevated. She is also a way for him to kind of pinpoint where to hit how to hit and also look for those vulnerabilities on top of the fact that he's barefoot. His hands aren't encumbrance spaces uncovered. Now let's talk about the martial arts part. Listen this person is undisputedly the top martial arts in the marvel universe but on top of that is now undisputedly the top fighter in the martial art in the marvel universe this has been stated by none other than not just iron fist. Not just black panther but the person who was formerly thought to be the best fighter in the marvel universe. I'm talking about captain america. All three of them stated that shanxi is the best fighter in the mall. There's a reason when spiderman needs to learn how to fight. He doesn't go to any of those characters. He goes straight to shane cheap. Now ask yourself how good if someone with all of these powers listed with martial arts and what have you. He's so good that just like what restated his martial arts or actually listed as a superpower not an ability a superpower. How good you have to be at martial arts in the marvel universe where you're taking on superpower deponent's of all levels where marvel wicky list your superpower as martial arts. That is crazy that is beyond ending. We've ever seen now on top of that. He's got was called nervous system control. This is something we've talked about before with other marvel characters. He controls over system. He can decrease the amount of pain he feels. Stop the blood flow from his body. And casey does get a cut. He can detect a fight off. Perfects poisons of drugs and also dead and physical pain almost a minimal amount. Also thanks was martial-arts. He's a master of pressure points where he can touch someone's pressure points and totally incapacitated him or at least hurt them badly he's done. This to characters are strong as the thing now on top of all that shanxi is a master tactician and can figure any battle plan. He needs to us at the moment. He's fighting. That person wants he detect what they can do if he doesn't want to hit he's not getting hit. He's demonstrated that with spiderman. By the way all the physicals that change he has put them. According to my calculations right up there with spiderman. That's your base forum change she. That's what his martial arts as a superpower that altogether something is not prepared for. That's my point number one. You're making some good points over here. Look shanxi is a very powerful character. He's actually very very impressive. He's he's somebody that i wish would have gotten more play in the marvel universe up to this point. I actually just found out through researching this they did make chang she. Max comics from marvel which is one of my favorite series lines out there. I did a lot of punisher. Max back in the day and i'm very interested in reading what they would. Those people would do with this character. Because there's a lot going on there. I love some of these points at one specific character. That shanxi has fought. Though that i think has a strong influence on this battle is a guy named wolverine. I may have brought it up before. But there is a quick and strong and powerful character who uses clause now shanxi has been impaled by wolverines clause before. We have seen that happen. No shame she was still able to keep fighting afterwards. That's good but when you talk about the pressure points in everything being pushed around the body didn't work with wolverines clause so well as he got impaled in fact wolverine met a random encounter with shanxi on the streets and wolverine was feral. At the time. There wasn't even in full control of his own abilities and he made quick work of shanxi there on the streets. So if wolverine can who would win style matchup in the marvel universe. That happened can beat chang. Gee i don't see why yasha doesn't do the same thing. So what else. All of that rate is that there's a couple of instances where they've actually fought wolverine and change according again tomorrow and everything. I've research change. She has won the majority of the fight the last time they did. It actually won quite easily. But i'm going to bring that up more play later on and how that kind of plays into the rat you will with all that being said. Frank heard one point from raeford one point for me. Where's your head out with this battle. Part you guys are not making his easy. So you have gone tit for tat on almost every point that i've been writing down and if we can agree right now that yokthai the energy that is inside of demon is the same source as she. That's gonna play a lot into what. I'm a westward into my decision. Making here you've got nervous system control blades of blood a lot of similarities between these two characters and after both of your first points they are so much more alike than i think. Any of us anticipated exciting out on this little adventure here. So i don't know this is a pressure points on the thing her. Yeah see. that should be possible robo. The fire rat also The bashing damage cannot can't get through a robot. The fire ran right. Just clarify it tempers at least ten ten percent. Okay all right that each of these characters bring to this fight in different ways but there's again a lot of similarly when you talk to super strength when change. He uses his. She got comparable super strength. We talk about speed agility. What have you effectiveness if there's a lot of similarities here in terms of overall capabilities but again. We don't make this easy frank. So that's why we do this whole show. Let the judge decide this. I will say setting out on this. I really thought it was a regular human with some human abilities versus the supernatural batman versus memora- who knows but then again i mean if batmans wallet can be a superpower so can the ability of knowing martial arts in the way to channel chee who knows anyone's ballgame so raise as a french says it's a ten attack even this is exactly where we both want to be. I'm pretty sure go ahead. And his with your point number two point number two for. I've already brought up. How he's physically stronger than shanxi. Because shanxi has to think about it real hard and focuses energy in certain ways and do all this just to get a fraction of the power of new yasha. who's naturally coming in with strength speed and durability. He doesn't have to think about it. He just does it. And i think if you don't have to worry about it you're already in a better place in this combat yes. Janki is a peak human who has the potential potential to get himself up higher in moments when he needs to but for yasha. That's turned on all the time. And i think that makes a difference but what separates them. How about the fact. That isn't just wolverine. He's actually gonna be bringing a powerful sword to the table in this battle. It's a sword named tat saiga and that is a sword. That was i believe made for his father and it channels demonic energy in a way that allows you to focus it through the sword and allows the sword to get very very large once you figure out how to use it. It becomes an imposing anime. Sort at that point one of the things that this sort has done and then i kept researching it over and over again. It cuts people in half cut people in half a lot. It cuts powerful people at have when he meets shang cheap. He's going to cut shanxi in half because that's what he does with this sword to characters similar to shang cheap he also uses special abilities now one of the cool things about this anime as it falls very anime structure of you get to introduce all the characters where they're coming from and then it like one hundred episodes of monster of the week he has to learn new powers. He has to master himself and he has to learn new sword abilities and get more shards as it goes on. And that's just a beautiful way to keep a story ongoing forever which often felt like yasha did but it will some of the things that he learned to do with. The sword is of the wind scar. Power the khazei kizu which has been known to knock down buildings. He essentially shoots it entire blasts with it knocked down. Buildings people have tried to fire energy blasts at him and he's able to cut through those energy blasts with the wind scar ability. In fact he's hit demons. These demon creatures with this wind scar and basically vaporized them torn them into pieces. I think it's great. That shanxi can separate some items to be certain pressure points at his body but if it's coming in with enough strength it's gonna rip him to ribbons if it hits him. We're not talking about one hundred pounds of pressure. We're talking about so much more. He's also got one called the backlash wave which he often uses as a finishing technique. It's a very important thing that allows him to reverse attacks coming back at him and he is able to reverse them back onto the person using them in the form of a twister which is very very cool but if shanxi she's gonna shoot anything mystical if he's going to come up with something very very hard he's going to be able to use his sword. Redirect that attack and shoot it back tenfold. Additionally we have one called the red tent saga which cuts barriers. He's able to cut through giant boulders magical barriers. we've seen him cut through all kinds of barriers with it. Why would shang cheese body be a problem. Heck he's got one called congo which launches diamond shards very very diamonds known as being very very sharp one of the hardest things in the world. Well he's shoots shards them through the sword at his enemy again tearing them to ribbons if he needs to add two more things here one. The sort offers a certain amount of protection and that you could take a lot of more damage when you're wielding the sword. The army is going to help him. The sword actually helps a lot more with the taking damage ability. I've seen them at one point. In the anime people like throwing things at him rocks and skulls. And what have you. They just hit him in the head and they hit him in the body and he doesn't even flinch like that happened and that happened and this is a demon throwing it adam and it did absolutely nothing because sword offered him a certain modicum of protection. But also zanga susha. I think pronouncing that right. It opens rifts and portal's key has the ability to open riffs and portals. And we've seen it time and time again on the who would win show if you could open riffs and portals to move around the battlefield or off the battlefield key can get shanxi in a position that he's not gonna wanna be an openness surprise portal and you will see up that's battlefield removal and that's a win for into yasha and that's my point number two okay so a couple of questions about the sore because the swords actually really impressive. So i one. How long does it take for new yasha power up. The sort is an instant. It's there does it take a ramp up. What's the deal with that you know. When he first started wielding the sword he didn't really know what to do with it. He didn't understand it. He thought the sword was garbo. And so he wasn't really even trusting the sword but he's learned through the going on that he has to trust in the sword and he has to feel the sword and he has entered sort. I will say it's always there to the point where we're talking about today. He knows all these techniques. He knows his sword back and forth. The sword is not going to be a lie ability in that particular case. Got it but it'll be a ramp up. It's not like the pulls out the sword any ability. He wants his right there instantly. He's gotta say something. He's got a process corrective. It's like it's not a very involved process. Honestly i've seen him just do a lot of things and i've seen him go through. People occasionally very quickly. I like that. I want that quote. I've seen him do a lot of things. Perfect okay so the question. I have is does he is he. You know have any mechanism where he can't lose or drop the store i we've seen. We've seen various things where he has been disarmed in his head to go. Get the sword before. I'm not gonna say that hasn't happened. Got it okay. That's what i was wondering because you know again. I i have a familiar with the character but you never know. Who's got thor likability you know. Just put their hand out and it comes back to them. And what have you okay. So he has been disarmed on occasion. That's cool now. A couple of things that need to bring up first of all shame. She doesn't need to focus his chee that way. It's always there. It's like a muscle that just needs to be flex or activated that. She is always there because again he's been developing it. His whole life in this fight actually reminds me of like a master martial artists versus a brawler because josh fights very strong opponents no doubt about that but he takes damage whereas shanxi is again. He's a martial artist. Who's also the top fighter in the marvel universe. That is something that's really really cool. It's you don't always have to be the most powerful fighter or martial artists to win. You do martial arts overcome braun that kind of a raw power. What have you okay. Let me get to my point number. Two let's talk about weapons. You brought up the store. Great point ray. Now shanxi on the other hand is a true weapons master to the highest degree. I understand how to use every weapon you can think of literally ranging from typical firearms knows how to use guns. He needs traditional martial arts ours. Weapons like nunchucks and source of all types. But he's also proficient in weapons usage in two other really cool areas of the first. One is improvised weapons. He can use anything as a weapon. Literally anything whether it's a fork iraq or even a tree trunk that he picked up a huge tree trunk. And you can use that as a weapon beyond mastery level. He has this innate ability to pick up talked about this before. There's a style from the philippines called collie and a lot of people say stick. Fighting style is not actually. It's a style where you can pick up anything and based off. Its weight it size shape. You instantly know which angles us whether you're gonna hit someone with it someone with that. Put that for every type of object you can think of including weapons. And that's where shane. She is never fighting type of force environment. Which i know any ashes typically in. There's going to be a lot of improvised weapons for him to use one of my favorite examples of this is when he was fighting spiderman and byron. Like how you've got nothing there change. He's like no problem. He starts ripping bricks out of a brick wall and throwing them at high speeds connecting with spiderman. Kinda hurt very badly. This is someone who has no problem finding a weapon and using it. The second area is everyone. He knows how to taking opponents weapon and use it against them listeners. Examples of shanxi. And this kind of speak to where. He's not just dodging bullets. He's dodging the bullet now z. Dodges it catches it and in mid-flight whips it back at the person at full speed the same speed in which the bullet was shot at him. He improvised what dodge the bullet caught it. And through a back another time someone with a missile sword. Actually yeah it was. A very powerful sword was coming at him. And why did you decide to do. I don't know why he wanted to put on a show like this. He caught the sword with his teeth and just to show how good he was. He then took a bite out of it right then and there now why they thought that was a good idea. I don't know but he did it. Spit it out. Broke the guy sword with his teeth because he could catch it. That's what he does. But when he was facing ares the god of war within marvel comics marvel universe. You know part of that. Greek pantheon of gods he disarmed aries. He disarmed his sword within a second. Aries is facing off against them with his this mystical sword. The god of war. He's going to have as bravo sort and change. He just looked at them and within a second bush took it away from is here. He threw it to his friend. Who knew here. You take it and said all right. Let's go to war. That's the level that he is at. That's again a super powerful level. Now he's not credit for this but change she's also a master marksman so he picks up anything he wants to use it enterprise weapons. He's whipping at high speed. He's gonna figure out that road is offering a high level protection and it's going to start going for the is again. He's one of the top marksman in marvel comics. People just don't associate that with him because he's not usually carrying a gun. If that was enough he actually has some weapons on them at all times now. Tony stark made some tech for him to and a projection through his body. So he's got these gauntlets that kind of act like wonder woman gone. It can block magical swords. Greek in a pantheon stuff you know. Areas got a war swords. He can block that bullets. High-powered energy miskel energy. God like energy and he can also use that to enhance and further kind of promote his cheek. It actually doubled. His power is speed his durability everything can do this chee it doubles it and then if that wasn't cool enough. He's got a dual pair of metallic nunchucks again designed by tony stark. And they act with repulses. At the end he hit someone with it is getting hit or blasts would like a repulsive blast on top of that. They're super strong and he can smash people with them very very in a very very powerful way. They also act as another focusing point for him to channel his chief. That's all he's got coming incident. That's a lot when it comes down to it. Not only to shanxi. Have the weapons use against. He can find the weapons from out of nowhere or even use any ashes stored against him. Put all that together. That's my point number two. You're saying some good things. Like i'm a big fan of the shame character. I wasn't too familiar with them when this calendar year started but boy if i may a point to learn as much as i can about him and there's a lot going on with him but a few here based on your point number two if he tries to pick up a tree trunk and attacking new with it. I've already established with his claws. He can destroy a tree trunk in like one second and then tear it to pieces with his claw abilities. So what good is wielding. A tree trunk or improvised weapon of any size. It gets into yasha somebody who can just stick his handout. This guy who's punched. Who's punched swords as a perry. Move guy saugus sorted. He punched the sword as a perry move. So what does a tree trunk gonna do. We just destroy it in this thing with the with the sword in his teeth and he's trying to show off this guy seems to be a showboat and let me tell you there's a character that you do not want to be show boating against its yasha who is absolutely going to be coming for the kill at any given time. And if he thinks he's going to start messing around doing circus tricks with this kung fu and he tries to put that sort in his mouth. That is a one way ticket to de tocqueville. The other thing is that sort you talked to and be able to take the sword and use the sword. I'm maybe i'm not doing justice to the size of this sword. He has the ability. The sword looks like nothing originally what he channels his power and he starts actually using it in battle. That sword becomes absolutely gigantic. We're talking cloud strife from final fantasy seven sized sword. It's not something shake. She is going to want to wield. It's not something he's going to know how wheeled because it is naturally unwieldy and requires super strength in order to even keep it under control but it takes a while for the store to get that size a reading about that as well and it's not improbable that change. He would kick it out of his hands or knock it out of his hands at the very least again. He's done that to the god of war areas of marvel comics. If i can say who's got who's got better control of a sword news knows how to use their stored. Better god of war ares or who's awesome. I'm going to have to say god of war now with that being said rat the turning point you've heard two points from ray hurt two points for me. Frank this is where you tell us who you think is ahead and what the other side has to do to pull out the win. Oh boy guys. I'm sorry my mom's calling me. I gotta go thanks. Thanks well well. You made it harder. However i think i do have a path of victory for for either of you really at this point. I mean you've got the backlash wave that redirect tax but then you can also redirect she and take any opponent's weapon. Shanxi has fought mystical. Swords and in yasha has a mystical sword but has also punched swords where shanxi as bitten swords like. There it is the is. It is a tennis match here guys. I think part of one is part of what is going to push me either way is. Is there mentality. Because they seem to be pretty evenly matched i mean. I'm not sure if one can redirect the she or the demonic energy of the other into yasha. Yes he's a brawler but if we are going if we're looking at inertia by the time he can do all the things that you say he can do ray. These already learned how to use that sort. He's pretty skilled. He might not be shanxi skilled but he's pretty skilled by this point if he's already shooting diamonds out of it right so i'm assuming that if shanxi is going to be at the point on his time line where tony stark gave him magic nunchucks then we have to also go and look at yasha by the time that he has already mastered all these techniques areas is also a supernatural creature so in yasha only son on his father's side but is in yasha a good person and will shanxi want to defeat him. I i don't know. I think right now. I'm i'm i'm on intent to these guys are pretty evenly matched so prove to me. Who wants it would you wanted. I like it. I think it's pretty clear that we both want this. Pretty bad ray. We've been here a lot of times before right where we're kind of neck and neck here. I think i got a good strategy to get the win. You think you've got a good strategy to get the win. I'm ready for this. Throw your knockout punch. Give us your point number. Three point number three in one of the big things that separates into yasha from shank. T- is that shanxi tends to fight people that he might fight some super powered people from time to time. But he's fighting people roughly the same size as himself however however the variety of enemies and the size of enemies that enter yasha has faced down is to appoint so much larger than anything. Shang chee could even dream of right there. I talked earlier. He fought a gigantic centipede. Lady demon and she was absolutely huge. She was ripping people apart with just using her body to smoke and right through him and he was able to bring down this flying right there. He fought his brother cecil maru. Who at the time of his first battle with him transformed himself into a gigantic kaija size. What looked like from the video game commie this giant white fire wolf thing and he was able to cut his arm off. He was able to cut his arm off during the battle. Something that he never really healed from over the course of the series it was absolutely fantastic but the fact is he's fighting gigantic creatures. It's one thing to fight an army of like ten humans ten tr well trained humans. But it's another thing to fight monster of the week which italy austria did for a hundred episodes of his show. He had to show up in what was extensively who would win battle and fight every single monster and demon from japanese folklore week after week after week and kept beating them over and over again. It's just a whole different level than what shang she is talking about here. Heck later on into the series one thing that he got hit with a regeneration increase so even if she's able to land a whole lot of damage that regeneration is gonna kick into high gear. It allows him to recover from poisons very very quickly if shang chief thinks about being dirty and additionally life threatening injuries. It's just something that kicks in and allows him to get up and then keep going in fact when he was actually kinda powered up. He was incapable of feeling pain. He was incapable of feeling fear. But he was also in capable of feeling compassion. or mercy. So when you talk about who's gonna wanted more if shanxi really pushes into yasha to the limit and it feels like he might. It might start to break down that demonic entity inside him. His blood might start boiling over and he go into a little bit of a blood. Lusted state hack. It worked for wolverine. I don't see why. I can't work for into yasha. This is a guy who literally rips demons. Apart with just his claws not even talking about the massive sort abilities. I've talked about before he also goes for the kill. We've seen it time and time again. He's not there to mess around especially with these other earthly creatures especially with people who seem intent to take him out at the end of the day. One of the things that i think talks about. Intense is yasha a good person. Yes is the answer to that question because he was originally tried to get all the pieces of the shards of the stone in order to turn himself into a full demon so he could be the most powerful version of himself but by the time he completes his character story arc. He's decided that being a compassionate person and caring about the people around him is more important and he wanted to instead use the stones to become full human so that way he can be the best person he can be not necessarily the best fighter he can be. And the last thing i'll talk about. I mentioned the portals before. I wanna make sure. I'm really hitting these. Because he's been able to use his sword to create a portal to literally absorbent energy blasts. That was being shot at him and an energy by saturday opens up a portal or rift. And he's able to redirect it somewhere else. In fact he had one very very special attack. That allowed him to essentially shoot these shards from his sword. And if you got hit by even one of those shards you immediately got transported to hell. You got taken to hell. That's off the field of battle. That is a victory for yasha. At the last thing i would posit. He's he could open up a portal because an energy blast is coming adam and transport it somewhere else if shanxi does one of his attacks a jumping attack a flying. Kick a punch anything like that. What's stopping yasser for just opening up a portal and letting shanxi fall into it while he's trying to attack the answer is nothing and that's why is clearly our winner and that's my point number three. Wow okay you're getting desperate here when when you're relying on the battlefield removal disinterested erin. I'm gonna use it. That's fair okay. Now how long does it take for him to initiate the opening of a portal. It seems like it happens pretty quick because he was being shot at with an energy blast and by the time the energy blast those ten not to move slow he was able to and it was able to take care of it so i have to say it happens pretty fast. What was that sound exactly against. You only get one game. I just like your sound effects pugh. That's pretty cool. So it does. I do remember does take a little bit. It's not just like an instant thing you know. That's a great thing about a sorta. It's really versatile by you got to kind of do something specific to activate very different types of functionality. Not a bad thing. But it's not an instinct doesn't take forever but i don't think it's quite inside a couple of things i got to say. You know there's one power that shanxi has and i was kind of going back and forth whether or not to use it. I'm going to use it and there's a reason why now the energy of enu yasha is something that not only will change change. He'd be able to understand and recognize. They'll be able to tap into it. He did this with another character tapped into someone else's energy in that area. And what he did is he actually cloned himself. He did this over. I believe in three different comic books and he actually cloned himself and it was like tiny little neuro. These were full on additional shang cheese with full knowledge. Same weapons everything going on. That's what he can do. You can actually tap into people's chee and clone himself it's like a clone jitsu thing and nardo accept everyone of his clones is a hundred percent bad ass duplicate copy with all the intelligence and fighting skills of shanxi. That's something that's gonna be kinda crazy hard to fight. But here's my point number three. Let's talk about this. So let's talk about some People that he's beaten some big feeds. And what have you. So he's beaten Shanxi's beaten wolverine a few times and now in his current integration most recent form. He understands covering so well that when he fights them. It's almost like an instant win. Because he knows how to avoid what he's doing because wolverine goes into preserve commode and that plays into shane. Cheese tactics let them lose control. Wear them down my take awhile. Wear him down. And eventually you know. Inflict some damage. Take them out. It's that easy that's simple so he's pot spiderman and beat him and then that fight spiderman said if shanxi actually wanted to and hit me the way he could he'd splattered across the wall that's a direct quote from spiderman. He killed a character called the ghost maker. Not a big deal. You might say because you know. Who's the ghost maker. What's the character from the seventies from oval comics whose little superpower was that he couldn't die ghost maker couldn't die until he shanxi and figured out what to do and killed him. We've never seen him since 'cause he stayed dead pretty weird thing. He's also fought superpower ninjas in groups of twenty and over. he's of course he's gonna take on inches he's changed. He has what he does. He fought the red hulk wants and kicked him into the side of a mountain. That's right. He kicked him sent him flying into the side of mount. And that kind of hurt the red hulk who made a mental note of like got it. I got to be really careful around this guy shanxi. Let's see he rip the head off of a dragon. That's a fun. you remember. This guy goes for the kill. He doesn't promptly believes he's just he will kill whoever is facing fodder dragon. Got it by the head and ripped its head off. Pretty impressive compete a large group of what we're called fire goblins. These are super powerful. Goblins demon kind of creatures that invaded earth from literally hell in marvel of course house only spelled with one l. Still a big deal. Speaking of dragons there is a godzilla sized supernatural dragon with crazy powers. That was on the island manager. Poor the spatial island marvel so of course he weaponized pym particles figured out how to do that bruce about half the size and started beating the heck of the super powerful super strong godzilla sized dragon still being half the size of dragon with nowhere. Near the super power bills natural -bility he beat name more marvel's equivalent to man. That was really cool and he did it with technique called the sword fist where he analyzed name what he could do and you fight underwater. He's great can't breathe underwater. If i puncture both of your lungs they fill with blood. Nudge nudge hint. Hint uses sort of his technique. Double punctures name or takes another fight instantly. Now let's talk about impressive feats there's this character called a hero in. This is a character during world war hulk that the whole brought with him from that other planet who's part of his crew and hero with someone who could lift one hundred tons super powerful. So he's taking on someone you i guess. He's upset shane cheese brands. He's like i'm taking you out. Throws a big haymaker overhand right. This is a one hundred ton presser. This is going to be bad for this person change. She jumped in caught the punch caught it. It wasn't easy. He wasn't comfortable but he caught it. That's how strong he is. That's how we can focus g. He easily destroyed. Doom bought a really powerful one at that. He destroyed an alien super robot. Called alif alif was part of the story line where the avengers get the signal for mars. They go to check it out. And it's about these tear forming aliens who then captured the avengers and the tubular capitalise to alad robots. So a new group of interest comes in shanxi. Be one of them. He faces the robot who was like. I'm going to rip you apart and change. She's cute and thrust his hand through the alex legs taking him out and then just totally destroys them. Let's see he also took on ares the god of ores previously mentioned. This is a really cool time. When he had the phoenix force. The phoenix force came to earth. Instead i'm looking for a new bearer of my power. They had this mini tournament so he had to face high. In the superman equivalent in marvel so high period superman had the phoenix force and he also changed also had the phoenix force. What did he do with it. Well he's like this feels like a type of key. I'll focus it and channel at the phoenix. Force overtook hyperion. Who couldn't handle it so easily. Beat him that's how good he is with manipulation using other forms cheetah power himself up and do all that kind of gets up. Let's circle back to how he took out wolverine that last time again wolverine went cavs slowly. Zirk change he just like grails out of your way. I'll hit you here. And there and there i'll let you burn out. Take all the damage. And then he grabbed hug him out to oversee upside down over a building with one hand and said. Hey you're gonna come down. Finally condom down. That was cool. Why is that important. Because what ray i think you may have forgot to mention. Maybe is that the more powerful that becomes the more out of control. He becomes so sure he might become more powerful than these bigger forms. He might be able to do more powerful things sword but all of a sudden. He's not in his right mind. There's no co gami. There's no romantic. Lead there to kind of get them back on the role. He's all of a sudden just losing his mind. Doing whatever it is. He's not even sure what he's fighting anymore. I mean you could be angry at a tree iraq or whatever it is. The wind is blowing this air. Let's fight the wind. He literally that much out of control. That is something that he will easily take advantage of. He's done that a million times. Look when you put this all together and you get out of control superpower change which is where you're going with this and all of a sudden technique and everything he's learned out the window versus the top fighter from the malvinas was all these cheap hours weapons and all these accomplishments. It's a really bad day for new yasha. That's why changji winston now. I like what you're trying to do here james. Look i'm looking to say a few things right here. At the end of the day we are talking about as frank. I don't think you had it wrong. And your initial idea. We're talking about a regular human versus a half demon fighter. Somebody who were talking about somebody who is who has normal human weaknesses so absolutely you know you could flood the arena. You can do all kinds of different things and shanxi doesn't necessarily have an answer for it but enu yasha does. He doesn't have any kind of overly protective clothing. Like new yasha has. I haven't heard any talk of mystical weapons like yasha has. I haven't heard any defense for the portals whatsoever because yasser could do all of these things at the end of the day i also have heard of victory condition for shanxi in this matchup other than james saying over and over again. He's really good at fighting. It's okay to be really really good at fighting but when you look at the amount and size and power level of the opponents that faces at has faced much more often than shang g. It's easy easy to see. How has several different paths to victory. And i don't think james is laid out a clear one percent chee in this battle now. Frankie heard three points from ray. You've heard points for me. This is where you got to make the decision kind of figure out who is going to take. Your process tells a story and give us a clear winner between shanxi and yasha clearly star screen flies overhead and kills them all the in battlefield.

Gee i.

"sir denis" Discussed on As It Happens from CBC Radio

"Four years ago we spoke with sarah dennis coochie. She was part of a group of indigenous students calling on ryerson university to remove the statue of its namesake and changed the school's name edgerton ryerson is considered one of the architects of canada's residential. School system that statue was removed after being toppled during a protest in june and yesterday the school agreed to scrub his name from the university and adopt a new name. Next year sir denis coochie is still a student at ryerson university. she's a member of knipling first nation. We reached her in toronto. Sarah what went through your mind when you learn that ryerson university was going to finally change. Its name. I was actually really excited almost equally as excited as when the statue came down. Remind us what happened. When when you and a group of indigenous students called on the school to change its name knows what four years ago now. There were quite a few calls to action that the indigenous students rising and the black liberation collective had written an open letter and sent off to the president's office and it was very intense. There was a lot that happened on social media with ryerson student union. There was a lot of acts of racism that were happening and it was you know it was pretty traumatic in a lot of ways but i think it was one of those necessary evils where you know the pot just needs to get stirred more and more and just got messy but now good things are happening. It's interesting to look back at that time because there was this sort of galvanization around the idea. But you know the statute didn't come down. The school didn't changes name after that. Work what he thinks. Cain very frustrating. I think a lot has changed. We've gone through a pandemic and people had basically have had to put their lives on. Hold on a lot of ways. People are beginning to focus on things that actually matter like social justice and it's taken a lot of people in dire straits and a lot of very strong willed people coming together to you know make necessary change in hold people up back then when you guys were i pushing for this you spoke with with as it happens and i'd like if i may to play just a short clip from that interview. Let's take a listen here. People have been occupying this land for the better part of thirteen thousand years and none of the the names of our institutions or or any or a whole lot of things that are reflected in in our popular culture and structures really reflect that. And and that's the problem. And i really think that it's a problem that should be addressed and and that people should not resist change when it comes to that because it's not hurting anybody and it's actually helping people feel like they. They belong because we do belong here. I wonder what it's like for you. Sarah to to hear that to hear it now knowing what we know today law i mean it's great to hear that. Thank you for that. Because i think that's like a really important mesh message. That still needs to be you know. Held up like one institution changing a name will hopefully start a trend but one institution changing a name can also be seen as very tokenistic. And it's not. It's probably not gonna translate to the way that folks interact on a day to day basis because racism has a long way to go before it's completely unlearn from our core beliefs. There's a lot of upheaval about You know from alumni that their degrees are no longer valid that they will have a popular name on their degree It's in my opinion. It's like a pretty mundane issue compared to actual social liberation and contrary to a very fragile popular belief like our degrees in the work we do to achieve them are certainly not being made invalid with this name. Change you know they. They seem quite willing to change the name now. What was the argument back. Then in two thousand seventeen th that that seems so impossible. The time i well it was similar to the reason why they didn't want to take down the statue. Their argument was like you know the whole issue related to marketing and people's degrees. And you know ryerson. Was you know it should be named to be proud of. Because he started the public education system and it it was just a lot of very sort of wishy washy reasons to uphold you know basically the name of colonizer who is implicated in acts of genocide through education and lack of health care to a lot of children who died in that clip. You also talked about how changing the names of buildings and of landmarks could be seen as tokenism but it will also help indigenous folk feel like they belong that that's present. What will it mean for you. Walking the university and and walking campus with a knowing that there's a new name attached to this now honestly like despite you know the bitterness of it being somewhat tokenistic. I also am going to be proud to have graduated from university that was once quote unquote popular for colonizers name and also popular for actually living up to its mandate of valuing social innovation inequity this day and age so powerfully driven by social media trends in influencers like siding with White supremacy is not hot. so i'll be happy to receive my degree. As opposed to wanting to hand it back saying changed the name on it. I also think of some young student who's going to step onto campus for the first time. That won't have to go through what you went through thinking about this and having it way on you and having make you think about well. What is this institution to me. If it's celebrating this name. Well it will be one less thing. That's for sure. Because like epidemic. Violence is real is just like a part of the plethora of things that Indigenous racial and any um person that identifies as a member of a marginalized group is going to experience in a colonial institution. So it's certainly one less thing to have weighing on your mind. I don't know if you've had a chance to think about this but do you have any ideas for for what the new name of ryerson university should be. It would be cool if it was named after a prominent indigenous figure or even a name that is in our local indigenous language like neutral beam away dad or any of the Uncle languages that definitely is not something that i as one indigenous person feel comfortable suggesting because i feel like it should certainly be a collaborative event that is held by community has been quite a journey from the last time we spoke to and i'm sure glad we're able to get back on again today. Yes thank you for asking sarah. Dennis coochie is an indigenous student at ryerson university. We reached her in toronto. And you can find more on that story on our website. Cbc dot.

This is the races in East Windsor on New Jersey. One on 1.5. Is it? Danny? Sir Denis? Dennis Dennis. I'm sorry. My mama's smile and then exploit they spell it. Oh, like that is Leary. Oh, yeah. There you go. I knew that. You add vanishing everything you know. I gotta let you know the reason. Uh, part of the reason I was calling everybody has Theo, listen to the replacements. You were talking about a great topic a little earlier. Oh, yeah. Before Raymond Raymond was my wife looked at me and she gave me those googly eyes after his rand Ishan of Frank Sinatra's drive Me to the moon. Oh, yeah. Get this could be a good night for you, Dennis. Hey, was killer, but the replacements were amongst the best. Bands ever to never make it commercially, according to Rolling Stone, They say that they were the number one band to like. Kind of self. Implode. So take a look at the replacement and Paul Westerberg in particular when right now, why did that happen? Well, there's a book right now called the trouble, Boys. New York Times bestseller. Really? I'm looking at it now. Yeah, it's an interesting book. Uh, Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson. And Mars on the drums and Obstinance in those guys put out some of the best music ever. 1979 like 2000. Wow. Yeah. Take a look at the book Trouble, boys, and in particular you could look at Call Western birds 14 songs with independent stuff. But if you're gonna listen to one album by The replacements. Listen to let it be. Just like Beatles song. They did let it be like the Beatles. All right, I'll check. You know they didn't do it. They named their Oh, I got it. They named their album fourth album as far as I know that I believe is the fourth album after announcing called Hootenanny 83 84. Wow, I got into traffic. What's your category? Uh, I'll go. At the time of recording including your homework which was twenty thousand. Mark Wahlberg hit broken city. What does everyone think of broken city? I loved it loved it. I love it. I love Mark Wahlberg. I love everything about the Wolfsberg. He could do anything in fact. I'm convinced most films. Starring Mark Wahlberg documentaries Mark Wahlberg around Every single say he sees the same in every single film. And there's a really sort of warm nice feeling that you know exactly what you're GonNa get he's GonNa be talking about some fuck guy is it. We're talking about a fucking guy gets rid angry. I think of all of Hollywood. He does the Best Lustral. Work not always. Yeah when he was looks like exasperated he's flaring up his nostrils and can read that. He's a really good actor just in his nose is phenomenal. The Best News Acting Waldberg is actually all in Dutch Zeiss. And they call him the iceberg because ninety percent of his acting is not visible to the naked eye without specialist equipment. Yeah Yeah Film. Trivia Essay was about puff reelect documentary mark Wahlberg tomatoes. This description comes from. That's how you say words in a broken city right with injustice X. Culpability Taggart whose Mark Wahlberg seeks redemption and revenge after being double crossed and framed. So what is the mystery of the film? What is the mystery a mystery? Is you think you're going down one route with Russell Crowe's characters wife played by Catherine Zeta Jones having an affair but then underneath all that and more is actually happening is far bigger and far more sort of socially wrong. That's that's the boring bit. Let's face it. Let's face it was a cop. He's now he's he's seven years ago he was a cop. He killed a young man who got off from some pretty heinous crimes on a technicality. Reis Book carried out. Some vengeance left the force but didn't go to prison because the man Russell. Crowe helped him out seven years later michaels and back in in both appointments. Both Appointments Russell. Crowe's Mary's drinking sculptured about eleven in the morning. The amount of scores down in this between those two seven years does he look seven years the worst of age today. That's the crow effect the extra list yet like the apple juice budget for this film. Must've been absolutely mega so anyway. Crow pulls a minute says look. I think my wife's been sleeping with someone. I want you to find out who offers him. A loaded shotgun in the office. Yeah dog wandering around wearing pretense for the this. We tried hunting. He says Warburg's out of the fourth year uses a camera. Really these days low. I need to find out who this guys wife. And as you say Catherine Zeta Jones Talent onscreen. I've never seen a phone with such massive disparity between the acting talents green. The results right should've been multiple. Oscars you you and Colin are. Tomatoes are birds of a feather because his his one star review said Stefan. Get too big name actors step to add nothing else. Big Name Actors this. Everyone else is Jeffrey Roy. In it as well. He's amazing he's got Barry Pepper. Who is the best named actor? He's he plays the rival candidate. Yeah because there's an election coming up in a few days time and crows very worried about his wife sleeping around because if people find out as well as sleeping around. They won't vote for him. Which is the thing. Ever like. They've elected they've elected racist sexist but never like the guy who's yeah what she really. That's really strange motivation. But okay. It's got eight. Creditors produces and ten credited production companies on Wikipedia. The first one minute and twenty seconds of the movie is just Lagos. I always production did keep thinking I was thinking. This is a an interesting thing. That big little. Highly futuristic turns out. It's another production today. It also didn't do very well critically or commercially. Made thirty four million on a production budget of thirty five million dollars. But also that's not counting for marketing so actually probably lost about twenty million or something so didn't set the world on fire like that but do we think it fits the category of being a gritty mystery. Oh yeah it's the mean streets isn't it's dark. It's constantly all the time. Yeah time and say pre sexist. You know they've got some nice generalizations going on their favorite liner had from the whole story. Which was the bulldogs in up to his neck very very thick neck and he chief of police. The chief of police is threatening warbucks character and he says by the time of the election the mayor is going to be in a cage like a monkey. And if you help me you'll be in with him sucking on bananas to the Pretty Clear Tree prison relatio- but that's not how you eat a banana. Monkey would know better. Doesn't suck on a banana. No one's ever sucked on. The worst line is amazing. Amazing work. I don't even remember this thing just has a fight. There's no context toll in the street. But he's always customer show some guys Christie and that's very grits. Yes very good. I mean the best puzzle film. Is The actor. The guy that girlfriend is sleeping with the actor guy and his felt hat extraordinarily felt trilby that the lobby. Wanka Sir Denis people around the table to them wearing felt job easy thank God way too. High proportion fell sixteen trophies thirty. Am EVERY DAY. This is great. He to pray and walk. "He saved almost three hundred dollars a month so that's another option that you have all right my producer tells me that we have another call if you want to get a hold of a loan officer just get their name and cell phone number they're all in the office their eight hundred number is three two one five five five five let's take our first caller I want to just prove to you I'm not I'm not infommercial here hello little Michael welcome to the underwriters corner. thank you and thanks for the all the information to you in your program I appreciate very much terrific I was I was just curious I've I've heard the term under writer and I it's always been a curious Sir Denis and I wondered if if you you should either under and over twenty five years where the where the term comes from what does it mean well I'm like I just I here's what happens the loan officer takes your application you're playing for a mortgage and you know he gathers up the information with his processor and basically I just review the paperwork to make sure that they followed the guidelines of FHA or Fannie Mae and that they didn't make a mistake you know of we're all human and the process of maybe inverted a number all our did in use all your income that was allowable and so I basically review that they have done everything according to guidelines and that they've there's no big mistake there that's the first thing I do I also can make exceptions you know FHA and Fannie Mae have guidelines okay well depending on the rest of your loan and what I mean by that is what is your credit score how was your rental history you know if you pay you know if your new mortgage payments going to be two thousand dollars a month but you've been paying nineteen or eighteen hundred dollars a month in rent that's a compensating factor I could break the rules a little bit though did not rules guidelines and and push your ratios of I if I so choose or maybe you have a good savings pattern you know it may be a rents only a thousand but your your new mortgage payments going to be two thousand okay but I can see that you've been saving all a thousand dollars a month so that's another compensating factor so my role is to make sure that everything is correct but also they come to me to as an underwriter to say can you push this a little bit. can I get a higher ratio here is there anything could I make an exception you know the the rules of the guidelines of FHA says that you have to have at least two years since the bankruptcy. well what if you have a year and ten months again it depends on the whole package I can make an exception. and that's what my role is circus so you superintend that process to make sure that happens happens correctly and also you you have you add some us flexibility into it if they still in your judgment your experience look at and I appreciate that and appreciate that explanation what word is. it's just always always seem to me that the term under writer under what you're writing under what the writing I am under the the guidelines of FHA and Fannie Mae and VA they have guidelines that. I'm just in the I'm writing an approval I'm writing their approval based on their guidelines and I do have a lot of flexibility now I can't just violate and say I just feel like that this morning when I got up. I have to write it up and say why I am writing this approval and I'm stretching their guidelines right. really have nothing they make you less of well if you want if you want the definition of an underwriter I suggest Webster but I I don't know any more than that my role wonder where the hell that we're at with the origin of the term is what I was curious about the access is now I will do exactly as you suggest so check it out that way very good thank you very much thanks for calling call anytime all right I don't know the origins of our our of underwriter but my role is to help the under a processor and the loan officer get their loan approved and sometimes I can stretch things sometimes I can and I will write up why I can't and that's my role is to find a look at and basically that's what we're looking to do you know another pair of eyes looking at your loan application and I can ask for letters of explanation and and get this I'm looking for a way to approve your loan I am certainly not looking for a way to reject your loan and sometimes people have to wait a couple of months and fix their credit or a couple of months to get past the bankruptcy or or off on old for closure or they got a show me that whatever their problem was and don't let anybody tell you know whatever your problem was all you have to do is for the past year show me that the problem is over and you're back on your feet paying your bills as agreed so you don't have to go back or you know six years ago I had this five years ago I lost my job that's you know what I'm looking at are you back on your feet paying your bills as agreed so that I can approve your loan all right they tell me I take another break this is a good time to call the office and find out about whether a refinance is beneficial to you when we come back from the break I want to talk a little bit about purchasing a home because with these interest rates you can purchase a home and keep your payment very close.

"Thanks for coming on the podcast. New book is the assault on american excellence and i i came across this in your work in that <hes> up ed you did for the wall street journal that was in that saturday review section one of my favorites to read every week <hes> because they do excerpts and this is one way i find out about a nonfiction books my specialty my beat here whereas non nonfiction books that are that are new mostly science books so i have to say. I really enjoyed reading your book. It's not a science book and and and most of the science books i read are not that literary a few are like by richard dawkins and steve pinker. They're they're very stylistic in the writing but most are cutting cut and dried died meat potatoes kinda get just the facts ma'am your writing is very heavily influenced by your your humanist i think training and tradition in in <hes> in not just the law but in all of history and so on i really appreciated that and also in in i had to do a quick reek because i didn't get this till saturday okay so in my opening lecturer in my freshman sorry first year students at chapman university re. We can't use that phrase freshman anymore. Either as you mentioned in your book <hes> i teach them how to read a book which is of course they read but how to read a book strategically you just turn to the first basis reading and in a you you start with the cover and i always appreciate nice covers your covers very striking the red with the you know the the shatter kind of greek greek pillar there of representing excellence and so forth and there's no subtitle your years one of the few books i've come across in many years without a subtitle so my rule is all books should either have descriptive title or subtitle one way or the other you've done it in one so congratulations on that and then i always say so you you start with title or subtitle and who who is this person well says right there on the cover the dean of yale law school okay no fooling around here. We got the head guy and then of course you read about the bio. Who is this person so you know we're person's coming from and then you look at the table of contents excellent speech diversity memory four chapters. That's it okay so you've really broken down into four categories which will do when we go through this book and and then and then then i always do the kind of the first and last paragraph of each of the chapters chapters in i skim through and look for any graphs or charts or pull quotes. Sir denis quotes that stand out just to kind of get an idea of where you're going and then you start reading. That's kind of my my quick and dirty guide. You missed one critical step so if you're an author yourself after you oh yes yes a little a little bit about the the author of the book you look at this. You look at the the footnotes in the index. Yeah i was in the unfortunately i'm not you missed my federal the laura lark by one book. I wrote that kind of touches on. Although actually i wrote the moral arc just i'd finished researching the moral arc right when the problem started though i missed that the problem problem being <hes> that you're addressing that also jonathan height and greg lukiana addressing their recent book the coddling of the american mind heather mcdonald is addressed and in others that i it really appeared to have started. Maybe twenty fourteen thirteen two thousand fourteen a win. There was this shift in students attitudes attitudes about free speech diversity or free speech political correctness that sort of thing so i thought we might start with what i did when i had jonathan on the podcast asked. Is there really a problem if there is what is the problem and and by way of background. I mean like i teach at chapman university. If you walk around campus it's its bucolic in in peaceful and nice and kids are just hold up in their dorms reading or at the starbucks or whatever i've been on yale campus a couple of times. You don't see protests. You don't see you know big. Disruptions in a mostly college seems like it was when i was in college yet cumulate enough of these incidences that have happened and you have have to do is watch fox news and and tucker carlson has his weekly campus craziness segment. It seems like to an outsider who would walk on campus. Yep is like it's insane. Students have completely lost their minds if you're walking campus. You don't see any of this. The question is what what really is the problem. I'm that you're addressing in your book that we should all be concerned about yup. Well you know there there are from time to time visible notable disruptive corruptive moments episodes of speaker shouted off the stage students marched around declaim were proclaimed as that which for the most part campus life is as you describing things go on as they have from day-to-day in their quiet ordinary way in what is really different today from a decade ago is is a change in the culture in the atmospherics atmospherics of academic life which i feel in faculty meetings were discussing <hes> perspective appointments to the faculty in the classroom when i'm studying attacks with by my students in casual conversations around the campus <hes> with students and faculty there is a a settling fork of of <hes> of of i would describe it as of discouragment of <hes> <hes> of some a <hes> of <unk> of suppression of ideas and speech which doesn't manifest itself often certainly not regularly in the sorts of explosives explosives. Events were so dramatically prominent on our campuses in the nineteen sixties. It's quieter. It's more pervasive but but i think in many ways it's more damaging because it strikes at the very hard of the academic enterprise of inquiry truth seeking free free expression testing ideas measuring strength with your own ideas in the back and forth with faculty and students and that enterprise has been compromised it has been <hes> <hes> <hes> it has its it sits in a shadow now of censorship and self-censorship which i think is very damaging to the culture of academic life. That's that's the problem and what i wanted to do in the book. Of course you know a lot has been written about free. Speech issues was on campus and the debates about renaming memorials. We had a big debate that kind of yale a few years back and then finally about diversity and inclusion. What does this mean. What does it require. What are its effects. The cultural lot of discussion these incidents separately and a lot of complaints about the especially on the conservative side of the political spectrum spectrums <hes> there've been lots of commentators and pundits who have wag to fix finger of disapproval and said this is ridiculous it shameful shameful and so on and sober i wanted in my book to dig a little deeper and see if i could identify a common root from which these various areas phenomena all spring which they all exhibit or manifested one way or another and what i propose in the book is he's very briefly this and i'll just stated and then we can continue the conversation <hes> our colleges and universities <music> shake should do the very best job they can of making sure they admit the most talented and qualified lied applicants regardless of their background and if some kids are coming from backgrounds disadvantage maybe they should be given is a leg up in the process an extra look at a minimum. Maybe even up a preference of some kind or other. I'm i'm all for fairness and admissions and even redressing the the the the historical balance where it has worked in a particular direction against the members of of certain groups. I'm all for that that is <hes> you might say it prone equality a pro democracy idea fairness of opportunity in the admissions process but when once the kids come through the turnstile and they are on campus once they are actually engaged in the process of studying and learning and debating they are are members of the community which is not itself by its very nature egalitarian at its heart. It's a community unity which is devoted to the cultivation and transmission of excellence in a whole host of different disciplines and to the pursuit of the truth which is not a democratic vad. We don't decide what's true in any field by a show of hands or vote so yes ask fairness in admissions <hes> ah process open to talent two kids from every corner her and walk of life all races ethnicities backgrounds and maybe as i say a special boost for kids coming from disadvantaged backgrounds but once is there in once they're on campus sitting in the classroom debating were their professors they should be. They should be introduced to the culture of excellence and truth seeking which the school itself represents and embodies yes you're distinguishing the selection process for who gets into taylor harvard or whatever and then after that then let let the meritocracy begins but of course jonathan hyde had that lecture he gave at that was kind of a useful heuristic of of the tea hilo of university. Are you after truth or you. After justice and you have to pick one well but social justice activists they would argue that they're not two different different things that if the truth is we want. We want equal opportunity for everybody. Some people just you know grew up in impoverished homes single angle mom homes in poor neighborhoods. They went to crappy public schools. They can't they're not gonna do good at on their s._a._t.'s. They got up saturday the morning and the mom said you're taking your s._a._t. What's an s._a._t. Versus the you know the harvard kid that goes to a private school and he takes all the training courses. You know he's gonna do three or four. Hundred points points better just by that alone so i think that's what you know. Many of the social justice activists system is not fair already from the get-go and that the point of affirmative action in general and then more point colleges is is this diversity of economic situations sion's as an race as a proxy for that. Let's say yes lander stand all of that and i'm sympathetic to up to a point but those considerations it's bear on the admissions process of the the the sorts of factors you just describe what to be taken into account up to a point in deciding deciding who gets into the selective college or university that we're that we're imagining now they apply fly so to speak at the entrance point and i would go even a little bit further than what you just said and if a if a kid kid from disadvantaged background does poorly on the <hes> on the <hes> the s._a._t. And has low scores on <hes> you know the various subject matter matter test but has strong letters of recommendation from his order teachers who say this has real progress but comes from a broken home. It just hasn't had the running room yet to show what he or she can do but they've got the brains that got the grits. They've got the soul to the do it. I'm inclined to say let's give them a chance and a an applicant like that in my view gets a boost how big a boost is a is a is an open question and not an easy to answer but bruce in the process and and i would go a step beyond beyond that once you've admitted if you take the risk of admitting them and say well they don't really want the papers look quite a solid is the other kids were admitting but we have reason to think there's a real spark there. Maybe they need a little bit of <unk> extra help at the at the beginning in their freshman year to come up to come up to speed all of that is fine but none of it really lake bears directly on by central klang which is that the the work of the college or university versity itself consists at its core not in the advancement of this or that program of social the justice but in the advancement of learning in the various fields of study and in the cultivation action of those habits of of mind and spirit which in a in a in a rough and and cumulative way we describe describe as human excellence they the <hes> the the excellence of being a human being not just a a.

W. yeah dark web devil devil may yet double that of the evening yeah go to double back the people of Sir Deanie are very angry with tourists that steel shells and sand because it's Baft from future generations and it also puts a delicate environment and said the officer page two Sam fears are usually picked up at airports because of bag searches by scanners there's a Facebook page it's written in Italian so I don't know it Sir de Niro bottom looking here yeah that's the translation is what year it says thirteen year robbed and plundered this was set up by a group of security officers from the island's airports they have campaigns about the depletion regarding certain use beaches so obviously it's very it's a very very serious matter in Sardinia I I understand that and you're right if everybody took just a little bit of it where would we be but one of six years in prison and thirty three hundred dollar fine seems very stiff to me it does but I think I read that they have like three million tourists each year so if three million people took St even a little bit there'd be no beach right so true all right we will take a quick break when we return it is tech Tuesday so we'll talk to Bridget Carey from scene and find out what's going on the world of technology but first Wendy this it's summer in the Midwest your air is on your windows are open your sleeping with sheets and a vase that are just a.
