"I got Sean fantasy and Chris Ryan to join me. Two parts, it is over four hours long. It was just immense amount of fun. It was the first two part rewatchables we ever did. So that is up. That is up for posterity. I'm so glad we did it. I don't know. That might have been my last rewatchables. We'll see. We'll see what happens. But I have to turn the feet over to some other people. I'm still debating. The men who have gone out on a bang with that one. We'll see. You'll find out Monday. Coming up on this podcast are old friend Brian windhorst. ESPN, NBA, guru slash 2022 summer star will go into that quickly, but we're really going to talk about this last era that LeBron is moving into. And what that's going to mean for his career, the Lakers, some predictions, and then we talked about a whole bunch of MBA stuff. But it was so much fun to talk to him. And then my daughter's always Simmons joined to update us on teen culture as we head toward the end of 2022 post pandemic. What's going on, what people care about, what are the trends and that kind of stuff. So it's all next. First, our Friends from Pearl Jam. All right, tape in this, it is early afternoon Pacific time. JK Simmons Looks to Be Working Hard For His Possible Oscar Campaign

"Point I'm trying to make is J. K. Simmons. You know, listen, yes, he looks good for a man. He's 60 goddamn 7. My father died at 61. I'm going to be 16 a few months. I can't look that way anymore without chemical help. You know, I love the guy's a good actor. No doubt about it. I think, well, I know. He probably thinks he's in line for an Oscar nomination for playing Fred marks in being the ricardos. He was very good. That movie is fantastic. And if you got nominated, I wouldn't care because it was a great movie. And I love the movie he did when he played the music instructor with the kid with the drums. Sorry, I can't think. You know what I'm talking about? It was unbelievable that movie. Oh my God. Whiplash, whiplash with Miles Teller, Jay kids, J. K. Simmons playing the music instructor. And Miles Teller playing the drummer, trying to get things right. And J. K. Simmons is not accepting any bullshit at all with the tempo and the speed. It's a brilliant movie, and it ends on such a note that, oh my God, it's brilliant. And that is much as J. K. Simmons work. That really brought him into the forefront of everything. That movie. So either way, he thinks he's been told he feels he's heard. He's in line for an Oscar nomination for being the Ricardo's. So as people must have told him, hey, Jay Kate, get out there more, show yourself. What is it you like to do? You're a health nut, getting the gym, post pictures on Instagram. I'm not much for Instagram. JK, you've got to do it. It's the rave. Do you have TikTok? No. Get to get, that's what's happening, guys. Okay, that's what's happening. The problem is, is we've seen too much of J. K. Simmons already on those God damn insurance commercials. And nobody wants to see grandpa, you know, was a tank top on ripped to shit with great chest hair, except if those men are in their 70s, like Arnold Schwarzenegger and sliced alone, both of whom probably guided J. K. Simmons on how to properly use steroids and human growth hormone to look his most ridiculous best.

Dissecting the Tom Brady Press Conference

"What did you make of the Tom Brady when he returned to the team to press conference and he just seemed like a regular 45 year old man? He's like, man, a lot of stuff happening. Like, what did you make her that? 'cause that's a Tom Brady where you never see. That's like such a real Tom, Brady, where I could understand. I could feel that every now and then I feel the same way. It felt like whatever that 40 day window was, but he wasn't playing. Trips were a book. Yeah. Deposits were made. Promises were made and promises were going to be kept. That is what it seems like it was for me. Now, here's the thing. And I could be wrong about this. You let me know because he might turn up on the mask singer. I got no idea. But. I feel like ty bones and everybody else should have just come out and been like, child's coming on this date. We told him that he could come in late. We don't think he needs it. We figured we'll keep him fresh. This is what it is. And Tom Brady, unlike probably literally every other player in the NFL, everybody would go along with it. Right? Like there's some people where that's what it will be. Like, I remember, when I worked at page two, I had pitched a story once, and they had told me that they didn't want to run it for whatever reason. I kept it moving. I look up a couple days later, and a story on a very similar theme is posted, right? And Bill Simmons had written it. And so I hit the editor and I promise you on this part. I just needed to understand, right? So I'm just like, hey, I just want to know if there was something different about the angle that he pitched or whatever. It looks similar to what I was talking about, so I just wanted to know, you know, what it was. And I'll never forget the email I got back. Oh, that's easy. Bill's got different rules. Yep. I went mad. I was like, oh, okay. Got it. Good to know. I just wanted to, you know, if there was some way that I could have tweaked my idea and made it better. But I wasn't stupid. I was perfectly aware of what I was, you know, of who everybody was and what the deal was. So yeah, you said bill's got different rules. Bill's got different rules. Everybody feels that way about Tom Brady. Tom Brady got different rules. Okay.

Warner Brothers' 'Bean Counters' Scrap Batgirl

Warner Brothers' 'Bean Counters' Scrap Batgirl

"Warner Brothers scrapped batgirl and the Scooby-Doo movie Scoob!. Holiday haunt. Which, I don't know who the hell's gonna see that movie outside of your young kids, but this cancellation by Warner Brothers, these were made for HBO Max streaming movies and they were both scrapped. And that came as a shock to the town. Then there are several schools of thought here, but this move announced to a big rejection of WarnerMedia's strategy to make original $70 million live action and animated films directly for HBO Max. So the makers of batgirl, live action batgirl, and the animated Scoob!, they found out the other day that those films were being stopped in their tracks, the timing is really weird and awkward for batgirl that directors ideal are being Bilal fala, both in Morocco for one of their weddings. How's that for a wedding gift? Your movie's not gonna be aired with scrapping, it's done. Forget all the work that you did the last year and a half. And they are expected to return to the cutting room and continue to work on this film, but no, so them Leslie grace the star, J. K. Simmons, Brandon Fraser, and Michael Keaton as Batman, all that work down the tubes. They got paid, but still. Initially, there were cries that the scrapping of batgirl was bad optics because the title role is played by a Latina. Doesn't look that when you scrap a movie with a Latina in the lead. But there were reasons for the move and in both cases the filmmakers would tell that it came down to a purchasing accounting maneuver available to Warner Brothers discovery because the company had changed hands and also changed strategies from the previous regime. This always happens. It's a pain in the ass. I hate when creativity is killed off by the bean counters upstairs.

Is Justin Simmons the Best Safety in the NFL?

"Number one, story right now at Denver fan dot com, you're looking at Justin Simmons voted league's best safety while Peterson wrote about that if you want to check that out on the website and fan dot com. It is Justin Simmons the best safety in the NFL or was he just voted the best safety in the NFL? You know, it's a great question. He's always, I think stoke really summed it up well when he said any given Sunday he can be the best safety in the NFL, but there are some guys, you know, there are some really good safeties in the NFL bayard comes to mind with the Tennessee Titans. If it's Patrick, make it Fitzpatrick is a really good place. There's a Berlin James Derwin James is an absolute that guy is a difference making. He's a beast. But again, he plays differently. He's down in the box, 90% of the time, or 80% of the time. So it's just the kind of it just depends. He's a different cat,

"They keep everybody. Obviously, Kyrie could blow it up and 5 seconds, but I just think, I think that's the odds are too high. I mean, at the end of the day, they lost four games to the Boston Celtics who probably could have won the championship by a combined 18 points. Yeah, most games were close in the fourth quarter. Yeah, and it's just like, I mean, look, if Kyrie plays a full season or not even a full season, I mean, he plays 40, 50 games. This team's not a 7 seat. They just kind of caught a bad break. I mean, they Kyrie didn't have the vaccine. Obviously, I mean, look, he wasn't the only NBA player who didn't want to be vaccinated. He just happened to play in a city where they had the stupid role that didn't apply anywhere else. So I think you get Kyrie and you get Kevin Durant. And then, I mean, Ben Simmons really solves a lot of the issues. So I think there are top three four C if they bring everybody back. But I mean, I don't know what's going on with the owner or Sean park. So yeah, who knows? Did you see that picture of Ben Simmons working out? Yeah. It was like right before Durant's trade request that the nets tweeted this kind of Ben Simmons snarl photo of like, I'm getting in shape, look out, everybody. But they has been Simmons was really good. If you saw this back thing, I voted for him, I think third team all MBA, maybe twice. You know? So it's not like that's a real thing. I think he's, I mean, I think his problems with the 6 were overstated. To me, Tobias Harris was worse than Ben in that series against the arks. I mean, Tobias Harris was their number two, Ben just doesn't want to shoot and now he's on a team where he is Kyrie and Kevin dree. He doesn't have to shoot. Any summer league advice for us for gambling? One of my biggest approaches to summer league is that I like to target teams who have second year players. As we all know in the NBA, basketball is a one sport in which one player can drastically impact the outcome of a game. So if you're looking at a team with a second or third year player in summer league, after having that NBA experience and F four year or two, it's like they come out, they come out to summer league and they're like minimum boys, you know, you look at the Memphis Grizzlies right now, they're playing a Philadelphia 76ers as we speak. They have ziya Williams out there. And I mean, that's a huge advantage to have a guy who is already played a full year. Sometimes even played in the playoffs. So I like to target those teams. In addition, I think there are some other things that I like to target as well. I think if you target underdogs in the summer league, you have a positive expected value wager. I mean, since 2016, according to bet labs, underdogs are 214 and 145. That's 60% against the spread. So, I mean, we all know the vig is 52.38%. So if you hit 60.

"Got another great idea from Bill Simmons. 17 picks for Nikola vucevic. You had to do it. Bill, if you get a GM job, just let me just hang out. Just let me just come to the gym and hang out. Yeah, I like the appreciate it. I just wanted to have you in a jump sit in NBA jumpsuit just kind of working with guys on the side. I want to add something into the Brunson thing, and it'll come up a little bit later in this pot, I'm sure. But this is, it's not a character, not a great character. It's just a great great trend. The trend of, who are we bidding against? And this has come up a couple times in some of these deals where I'm just like, so your dad and your dad worked for the Knicks. Who are you guys bidding against, really? What was the conversation Thanksgiving going to be like if this didn't work out for the Knicks. So in the end of the day, couldn't the Knicks maybe have shaved a couple $1 million off of this? Well, I think they did descending salaries, which I thought was smart. My favorite front loaded it. Yeah. My favorite who are they bidding against? I have co winners. Marvin Bagley, who I liked, but three for 37. I just don't know who came in second place for the three for 37 with bags. And then the Gary Harris, two for 26, second year not guaranteed, but it's basically a one for 13. I just want to know who came Did anyone have 5 for him? Four? So are they doing that? Because they want it to be a big trade chip. I don't know. I thought that was weird. Who are we bidding against is a good game show, Chris? You wonder if when the agent like text them the figure, they're like, they wait for a correction. Yeah. If they wait for the light, they wait for the little asterisk tweet, you know what I mean? Sorry, I wasn't 13. At 1.3. Yeah. Who do you have for number four, Tyler? Brian windhorst. Oh yeah. I honestly thought he'd finish higher. He probably could have, and I didn't want to, you know, because he's an unbelievable character, obviously, in the grand scheme of things in terms of effect on the league, you know, probably pretty minimal. I would say. But. Like and this is like, I'm trying to think how you set it up. Windhorst went on first take on the day free agency was due to start..

"This is a guy if Portland had said at any point September October, November. Yeah, we're ready to trade dame. Maxi is like in the trade. They're not even thinking twice. What happens to summer of Portland's like we're ready to trade dame? What about Tobias Harris? And Maxie and you can have dame. I kind of think max is more on tradable than Damon is at this point. Considering he's on a rookie contract with the arc that he's had with how competitive he is, what we've seen with harden and embiid, I think he's semi untouchable, right? Oh, and in this situation, there's no, I don't see any way they trade maxi for dame having already acquired harden, even without with harden, I think that discussion is over. But it would be interesting. I don't think they would do it even then, probably. But think about it in October if I had said, we're going to get to march and the concept of a Tobias Harris and tyrese maxi for dame lower trade is off the table because Philly wouldn't do it. I know. That's how much she's jumped. All right, pressure rankings. Number one, go. Has to be Simmons. Has to be. Oh. So I have Simmons slash Kyrie slash nets all ranked together as one big, just melodrama slash pressure situation. Can I make the case? Yeah, let's go. Yeah, go. Out of anybody we have in the playoffs. We have no idea how he's going to respond in a playoff game. In a playoff series, in a fourth quarter, with the team is on, it's the most wild ceiling basement, I think out of anybody. If you're going to build the building with the highest differential between the ceiling and the basement, Simmons is the biggest building by far. You watch the nets game yesterday and you think at Tatum's torch in the net. They have nobody to guard him except for Durant and you don't want to put those kind of miles on Durant, especially if it was a playoff series. Simmons is the perfect guy to at least challenge Tatum. I have no idea where his I don't know where his head's at. We know there was no chance he was playing that march 10th, sixers game. It's hilarious. Now he might go. I was watching first take today, Steven a was just openly calling him out. He was like, I don't know if you're injured, but you don't want to be in that case. I agree. He doesn't want to be in that game, but at some point, he's going to have to play in a playoff game. In Chicago, in Boston and Philadelphia. We need to see hack a Ben in Philly. Let me ask you this if you can Doc Rivers keep a straight face doing hack. Will he start will he have to cover his face like LeBron at the all star draft? Will he make will he be looking at Ben like staring them down? Will Simmons weep on the floor? Will one of the free throws hit the top of the backboard? Will the fans throws? I just don't even know, I don't even, I can't even imagine the scene. Will embiid laugh at him openly? It's all on the table. I need to see it. I wouldn't trust him at all in a playoff game. I just wouldn't. And that's why I think he has to come back relatively soon, so he can at least get some regular season games under his belt and take the heat. Think about yesterday, that Ned Celtics game. Celtics fans, you know, Kyrie has turned into their favorite villain. And it was so much fun to listen to them, you know, chain and Kyrie sucks all that stuff. And Kyrie, you know, he thrives on it. He was enjoying it and he was and he wants to stick it to them. His Simmons wired that way. I have no idea. What if he air balls? Let's say they're playing Boston around too. Simmons, airballs of free throw in the second quarter. And they start chanting Simmons sucks Simmons sucks, which will hurt my feelings if I'm actually at the game. Just hearing a Simmons suction. What happens to Ben at that point? Does he just melt down? I just don't know where his head's at and I've said this over and over again. I thought it was so crazy to hear people. And we talked about it when you came on my pod. So crazy to hear people being like, I think Brooklyn won the trade. You get Ben Simmons, he's the perfect fit with, it's like perfect fit. We don't know if he can play basketball. The last time we saw him, he had a complete meltdown in a playoff series. And now I'm supposed to think he's okay, 'cause he got traded. So I think he has the most pressure because there's a world in which he completely craters in this postseason and we don't know what's left. Is there just Ben Simmons shrapnel? I don't know what to think of it. That's the question. That's why I lump the nets and Simmons and everybody together is in my pressure rankings because look, there's a temptation to say, all right, this is a lost season, right? The nets are playing for next season when presumably Kyrie is back. I guess. You can't say it's a last season with Durant in his prime. No, you can't lose.

"College, I think it's the biggest under 22 show since I have known my daughter, Zoe Simmons. I would say over 22 as well. Yeah, but especially like, but I mean, this has hit people of all age ranges. So what happened? Do you think it was the pandemic started it? And people caught up to season one and we're ready. So much bigger. It did have the advantage of having the pandemic and allowing people to catch up with the episodes and binge them. But I also feel like Zendaya has become probably the biggest actress in the world because the Spider-Man, the new one came out, and that was ginormous. That got more streams views than Avatar. Yeah. Which is insane, because avatar is one of the biggest movies ever. So Zendaya being the lead character in the show definitely helped. And I think people caught up on HBO Max. I heard from a friend of mine at HBO that euphoria's audience was like 80% HBO Max because your generation doesn't even know when things are on. They just know they go on the streamer. I mean, it's unfair that life we live. So leisure filled. Unfair, fair. I'm fear for everyone. No unfair for everyone else I mean, because I could just enter any app and watch whatever show I want without having to wait most of the time. That's what was great about euphoria. You could just binge through it during the pandemic. So why did the show hit? What happened? What made it go to another level, explain it to us? I mean, I feel like the majority of our viewers are people in high school just out of high school in college just out of college. And through the pandemic, we were really robbed of all experiences of high school, so having a TV show as we're reentering the real world, that basically explains everything that goes on in high school and in college to the fullest. Wait a second. I mean, I would hope this does explain everything. Oh, it does. The show's insane. It is insane. And you could say that a lot of it is exaggerated, which it is. But the premise, like the true core of this TV show, is completely accurate to the way that high school is. Explain. I mean, I feel like parents are so oblivious, even though everyone was kids at some point. Now that we have technology, it's a whole new wave of being a teenager, everything is different now. Everything is more accessible to people who use drugs like rue. I mean, that's more of an old style thing where she has her dealer and she goes to fez and he has this little shop, but nowadays it's like you SnapChat your dealer and he's at your house in ten minutes. "Find it hard not to place some blame on Kyrie. I don't think we get here if Kyrie Irving is a full-time fully active member of the Brooklyn Nets. I just don't think that happens. I don't think the frustration levels reach the way they do. I don't think the losing streaks reach the way they do. Maybe it's unfair to place the blame solely on him 'cause there's obviously more complicated factors in play here, but it's tough to read the situation whether you're looking at hard inspires or more so the net spires are more so however you want to panel it. Kyrie has to be a central figure and a central figure to receive some blame in exactly the way things have gone down that said. Maybe the nets won the championship with Ben Simmons. I don't know. He's kind of exactly what they need in very different ways. Yeah, and I want to talk about that in a second because the Ben Simmons piece of this is so much fun. The Brooklyn thing. I mean, we just haven't seen Ben Simpson's play basketball Chris. Do you think this was the equivalent of Katie is two years out of college living in Austin? And if he's in a three bedroom apartment and he's living with Kyrie and harden sick and moving to Boston and he's like, you should move in. Only there three nights a week. Yeah, it's like Henry's cool, man. Yeah, he's not there. He's never there at all. You love it. No, you should get this bedroom. It's a great place. No, you'll like Kyrie, I swear to God. He's the best. And then Hardin gets there and, you know, it's a disaster from the get go and he's trying to figure out how to sublet his room on Craig Claire's list within like 5 minutes. It does feel like it has that feel where Duran is like the only person in the last 5 years who is truly bought in a Kyrie. Who are the other people. It's really just him. Yeah, I mean, I think that they're kind of idea that they were going to go to Brooklyn that Nash is going to show up and that they would essentially be the figureheads for the franchise was a pretty enticing idea, because not a lot of players get to have that kind of that kind of ability to shape something exception of like LeBron. But to me, it's like Durant's voice is the one that I think is the quietest here. And everybody made note that he liked an Instagram post that done where it was basically like Hardin wants out. He just doesn't want to do a public trade request. And then that Kevin liked that photo. I'm so kind of over reading the tea leaves of this. I think it would be really interesting to just candidly hear from him about how he feels about it. Because it gives him something as a podcast. He did an episode last week. We could have heard from him. But it's like, I want to hear about, it could be something as simple as what you're talking about, Bill, which is that guys who are friends who see each other 6 times a year, maybe also don't want to spend every waking moment with one another. You know what I mean? And that what they thought was going to work out, even if it had a lot of potential, that harden wants his own team or wants to be kind of like in a zone where he's playing for somebody in Daryl who totally knows what he's buying. That's the one thing I have confidence in is that Daryl morey has been down this road with James Harden? Yeah. For long enough, that if there's anybody who knows how to handle James quote unquote, it's definitely going to be more, right? Yeah. That makes it sound kind of sweet. Like two people who accept each other for all their flaws, making eyes at each other across the room after all these years. It's like Leo and Kate Winslet. Just had a magical time on Titanic and they just love working together. You know, KFC Mahoney brought up the what if factor of this, which, you know, definitely is hanging over all of this. What we saw from the nets in that first round and how we watch that and we're like, oh my God, this has a chance to be the greatest offensive team we've ever seen. It's interesting to me that Hardin's been involved now in two of the biggest what ifs of the last 50 years of the league, right? Because the hardened trade was the first one, which we certainly got enough mileage out of at grantland and all over the place. Maybe a third one with the rockets warriors. Chris Paul and Chris pollan, yeah. That's like in that what if so and so didn't get injured? Can't different bracket. Yeah, but still a valuable one, right? And we've had a lot of those too. This one is more like, what would that team of been like? And in the OKC case, we only saw that one year, but it was a really young version of harden and I remember at the time writing that I thought Hardin had a chance to be like Manu ginobili two. He's clearly transcended that and all these different ways. But we did get to see these guys together. And the Boston series ends up becoming like a 30 for 30. I remember watching the Celtic fan being like, this sucks. We're done for the decade. These guys and now it's over, but do you think if harden doesn't hurt his hamstring?.

"Think a decent one. I think between what we've seen from James before he started sitting out this recent stretch of games. We saw a version that was a little more close to his all NBA self, a little bit closer to his superstar self. A guy who could on this team in this context be an anchor for a team that could go to the east finals and beyond. And I think the key to understanding that the key to understanding his fit with embiid and all these pieces, like he's just a phenomenally talented creator that's going to change so much of what the sixers do and what they have to do and what it beat has to carry. He recontextualizes their whole team, even if he's not the exact player we saw three, four years ago in the MVP race. The exact size player. Chris Ryan, it's time. Die hard, Philadelphia, 76ers. On so many ringer podcasts, we really treat ourselves to Chris Ryan and parents are in the BS podcast. You know, you're all over the place. You're like one of those a list rappers that just hops on other people's tracks all the time. I'm always afraid to book you. You can't afford me. My future fee is way too high for you. So Ben Simmons quits on your team during the Atlanta series. I recall that Bill, thank you. I don't know if you remember that part. And doctor rivers hurts his feelings. Clutch gets involved, and he just decides I'm not playing anymore. I'm going to take my ball and go home. At any point, did you think James Harden was going to come out of this? No. Absolutely not. We were talking about like Dijon Murray and jacopo and some pick swaps. We were talking about CJ McCollum and Robert Covington. We were talking about 80 cents on the dollar, but dealer Darrell, you know? And let me tell you this bill, I defy you to go back through my last ten years of written work or podcasting. I've always loved James Harden. I think he's commitment to his teams is unquestioned. I think his MRIs are always just they look like rainbows popping out of a meadow. I'm sure that his left hand is fine. His right hamstring is fine, whatever. Yeah, this is why you move mountains to get Daryl morey because Daryl morey can move mountains. Because this is the kind of tree that he can make. I probably at various points had talked myself into bonus or talk myself into CJ McCollum or talk myself into Dijon to Murray. But James Harden is an objective upgrade over Ben Simmons. He got a better player for the player he traded. Well, so KFC, you assume Ben Simmons is never coming back, right? If you're feeling you're making this trade. So really the upgrade is Seth curry to James Harden would be the upgrade unless there's a scenario that the trade deadline passes and then Simmons never, you know, he basically was like, all right, fine. I'll play. I'm costing myself too much money. And then you have the Simmons curry situation. You have Simmons. Being interjected into this weird season, the impede stuff that Doc river stuff so on paper on paper, harden is much better than Seth curry. With that said, I really like the way Seth curry and Joel embiid played together. And I thought Seth curry was really valuable for them and he was able to move and we've seen him be. We talked about this little Sunday Night, the little dribble handoffs and B can do all this stuff. I don't see harden with a lot of movement. So I guess we've never seen hard and he's been saving it. He's been saving it up. But James Harden with the center, I assume we see point guard James Mahoney. I'm gonna come to you after this, but what version of James do we see with Joel embiid? So with James Harden, you're not going to see the motion, you're not going to see the movement of Seth curry. It's just going to be something different. You're going to see Joel embiid doing different things as well because then bead, he's never had a playmaking point guard like James Harden. And that's why I've been so excited about the idea of this Hardin gets to play with a big for the first time that has the impact and the ability of Joel embiid and B gets a playmaker like harder. You're going to see those guys run a lot more pick and roll together. I mean, to me, that's the first thing Doc Rivers in that coaching staff needs to integrate is like, how can we design pick and role plays to maximize this harden and be combination? So you're going to see less hand off actions, maybe more pick and roll. I think that's the way you'll see it distributed. But Mahoney Mahoney is that good to screw with how incredible and beads spend this year. I mean, if the season ended today is the MVP and now you're bringing somebody who embiid has to adjust it. I think he has to adjust to him, but there's nothing wrong with diversifying a little bit of what indeed does just because there's so many possessions where he has to catch it 1820 feet from the basket and just make something happen. Those are now James Harden possessions, or they're pick and roll positions involving them both. And we've had so much time to stew on what these two guys could look like together. I keep coming further and further toward the idea of Joel embiid as just like 7 foot Chris Paul basically as a James Harden partner. The idea that these guys, they intersect. They're a big and a guard. They're going to run pick and roll. But the sixers are going to be defined by how dominant those guys can.

"Dump Allen and temple to get a late first from the Cavs. And with that old depot thing is like some weird Miami Brooklyn swap. So we were just talking swaps. I don't see any scenario where if Kevin Durant is healthy, that those swaps will come into play with Houston for the next two years. Today you're just talking about a bunch of picks. Now, you could say, well, this is how Boston got Tatum. I don't know. The Boston got Tatum partly because brokerage for whatever reason was like, whatever strategy we had, let's do a one 80 on that. And fire sale and basically torpedoes the team. And that was a gift from God. I don't know if that happens again. KFC, I still don't like what Houston got. Have you changed your mind at all? Would you rather have Ben Simmons if you're Houston with everything that's happened and how he might be in a situation where they're losing in there and there's really no hope. I mean, in that scenario, who's to say he wouldn't be pushing his way out of Houston so quickly like harden might be now with Brooklyn. I think the picks are the safer the bet and they give you the ability to be flexible during the off seasons. In any event, any player might become available or if there's a player you want to trade up for and target. If they end up with the fourth pick. And this year's draft. They now have the ammo to put together and say, okay, we're going to trade up the two to get the guy that we want. I think that's where the true value comes into play for the rockets. But wasn't that Simmons? It wasn't just Simmons. It was Simmons and a bunch of picks. They were going to catch throwing in picks from their end, but Simmons was such a bigger Trump card than. So I would have taken Simmons. I just think that was the better offer and that's why someone for titter thing. Do we know that for a fact that he just wouldn't deal hard into mori? As a fact, I don't think it helped, but from what I heard harden and Durant wanted to play together. And lobbied Josiah pretty hard. What did you hear on that Jackie, anything? Yeah, that's what I heard too. But who knows? Everything gets changed around now because of the way things have gone. And you talk about the picks and you just never know with picks because one catastrophic injury changes a franchise's situation entirely. And then all of a sudden that pick that you thought was never going to be worth anything is really pretty high pick. Well, it's also a great thing if you're a GM trying to keep your job for multiple years. Look at all these picks. Well, we won't know till the picks can't seem to become a GM. Straight for a lot of first. You can just point to them. 2025 pick swap. You'll never know. So Katie and Hardin are the other interesting.

To the sponsors, Democrats, of course, says the bill seeks to boost racial equality in the criminal system by eliminating drive by shooting as a basis for elevating, first degree murder, the first degree, aggravated murder. Under the current Washington state law, drive by shootings can be charged as aggravated first degree murder, under certain circumstances, such as, when it fatal. But they want to abolish that. Spider-Man: No Way Home Review

"Eventually. What else do we have to see, sunny? Well, so the big movie out this weekend, and the big movie of the year really is Spider-Man: No Way Home. I mean, this movie is going to be an enormous enormous hit. I thought yesterday with a packed house at the Alamo drafthouse near me, audience loved it. Spider-Man, no way home, of course, our Spider-Man, it's got Tom Holland as Spider-Man. And if folks remember the end of the last movie, his identity had been revealed to the world by J Jonah Jameson who was playing a kind of Alex Jones like figure kind of conspiracy theorist, doing a very funny, very funny turn by J. K. Simmons. But this movie picks up right where that one left off. So everybody knows that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, Spider-Man and Peter Parker. He's got to try and figure out a way to get the world to forget about him and he turns to Doctor Strange, who has played by Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Cumberbatch, cashless spell that tries to reverse the race the knowledge that Peter Parker is Spider-Man from. Yeah, Doctor Strange should be smarter than this. You would think. He was warned not to cast the spell by his assistant slash sorcerer, the new sorcerer supreme Benedict Wong. And he does it anyway. He cast the spell in it. It messes up the very fabric of reality, villains from previous iterations of Spider-Man movies start pouring into Tom Holland's Spider-Man's universe, the green goblin, doctor octopus, the lizard electro. Hello, Peter. That's a great trailer, by the way. Hello. It's a really good trailer. I'm not giving away anything that's not in the trailer. I'm careful not to either. These are no spoilers here, really. And Peter's got to get Peter's got to get them back to their universe. That's all I'll say about that about a lot.

"Carbs per 12 ounces. All right, two more teams, then we're gonna go. We mentioned the blazers in the previous segment, but just quickly, if you're gonna look at a team in either conference that could potentially go in a tailspin where guys could become available. I don't think Phil is a tailspin team unless indeed gets injured, so I'm just, but if indeed, you know, he's missed a ton of games over the course of his career. There is a world in which the Simmons thinks the disaster, and bead has another injury and all of a sudden we're like, wow, are the sixers going to be a play in team? Really though, but see, I just think guys like, again, I keep mentioning this breakout guys. Tyrese maxi, another breakout guy in my mind. Like that guy could be something really special. You don't agree. I just think if embiid has had multiple situations in his career where he'll just miss 20 games. And if that happens for them early on with the Simmons thing, I think it could be dangerous. These days better, Portland is clearly all the teams the only other one I would say is the clippers just because I think people are kind of forgetting the Kauai's not on the theme part of this. And then it's like Paul George and a bunch of role guys basically. But the Portland thing, you know, I like their starting 5 potentially. They still have two small guards. They still don't have a backup point guard. Their bench looks really iffy. And it's one of those things that if they start out 6 and 9, 7 and ten, it's going to start. The damn stuff will start. Are you ready? Starting already because they had such a bad preseason. I mean, remember, this is a team port of last year. I'm pretty sure this. I think the average like 11 turnovers a game built, they were number one in the league in turnovers. And in a positive way, they gave, you know, they turned the ball over the least of any team in the league. The first their first three, you know, the first three preseason games they were they would turn the ball over like 20, 24, 26 times a game. What is that? Where did that come from? And the whole thing has always been about Portland at least the last couple of years. Yeah, we know you can score it. Will you even bother to stop anybody? And again, very little evidence of that in the preseason and Chauncey talked about it being a priority and all that, but, you know, I don't know, man. I didn't really see it. Larry Nancy junior, that's why you brought him there, right? To show up your defense and stuff. I think. Isn't it? And the new coach thing, you know, sometimes the new coach comes in and it's like the guy's never had the job before, maybe it's not gonna be that good. That's frustrating. I know for a lot of the boys are fans, but had a lot of success too, and they made Conference Finals with them and stocks was creating. Because that's a great a MBA coach. He just was prepared, newest players, as players trusted him. He's one of those underrated guys that, you know, blazer fans could be frustrated all they want. They should have been frustrated a little more with the front office, perhaps. So if you had to pick somebody to tailspin in the west and your choices were clippers, nuggets, warriors blazers. Well, definitely not warriors, and nuggets know because I think Michael Porter junior is going to do a nice job of keeping things in flow. I mean, Jamal will be out quite a while, but I like their team. I like the way they draft. I like the way they do things. Jokic is going to have another great year. So no, I would never vote those two. So, you know, I think you could sign me up for the blazers. I just have questions about their defense. And, you know, and CJ McCollum, he had a decent preseason, but I think Anthony simons wasn't he the leading scorer in the preseason for them and I mean, well, now they're trying to get that necessarily little thing going. And the Portland always has some guy in the bench. This is the year breakout time. Right, right. So maybe he's one maybe isn't, you know, nurkic, can he stay healthy? If he can, he's. People forget how helpful he is, but he hasn't really been healthy since what? 2019, not really. I'm more dubious of the clippers if I had to pick. Really? Yeah. Because I just think that that.

"That he doesn't want to sit out again. I mean, right. Well, and then Westbrook, we just have no evidence that this guy can be on a team that wins for four straight rounds. We don't have the evidence. We don't. So I think the west is a little more open than people think. And at that Phoenix was best positioned because if shamming can give them some shooting with the cam Johnson bridges combo, if campaign can be a decent backup for them, if they get anything out of jaylen Smith, anything, right? Right. Well, the camps, the two cams were great, little, you know, that's why their team was, I thought so good was because they could go to their bench and get some ins. We campaign at one point when Chris Paul was out. You know, people forget that. He was really good. He had some big games for them. They're deep. Well, and then my guy Booker that I've said that jokingly sons fans because they thought I didn't like him fears, but he did he did Team USA. As you know, I love when people with Team USA always feel like they have a little like 10% bump the next year being around all those guys. But I just thought they were the safest bet. Now they're compromised in that. 8 seems like a good guy. I don't think he would go Ben Simmons on us on anything. No, I just created the verb. Yeah. There we go. Simmons, he won't Simmons. No, I don't want to, I can't be Simmons. I don't want to be attached. It's got to be defensive. But I think he'll probably put his head down and feel bad about it, but I was surprised, Kristen didn't say anything. He might, he might. Remember, he's the head of the players, the Players Association. Although he isn't anymore, is he? Isn't it? No, right? CJ McCollum, grant Williams ticket. Okay, but it's really still Chris Paul in my mind. And I love grant Williams. Just saw grant Williams at a charity event. Kid's amazing made all sorts of dogs. Yeah, he's good kid. I don't know if what his future is in Boston, but he's a really solid kid. It's going to be waving a towel this year. Do you think Chris any of this is Chris saying don't give this guy the max? No. I'd be shocked by that. I shocked by that. Yeah. I don't think that because what would he care? He wants them to spend money on whoever. Yeah, and plus, that's not Chris Emma, really, I don't think. I didn't know if maybe I'm just trying to it's so nonsensical to me. I'm just coming up with every possible answer. But the answer is right in front of you. It's Robert cyber. Come on. Don't make this more complicated than it is. So I did over unders with racial and house last week. We get the over under win total from Vegas for every team. And a week later, I have two regrets and they're kind of tied to each other. Okay. Portland's over under was 44 and a half wins. I like that I went over. Golden State's all right. Well, wait, Golden State's over under is 47 affluents. I went under. A week later I would flip that if I could do that over again. I would go over go on state and I would go under Portland. I have a lot of regrets. We were texting about stuff we want to talk about and you really want to talk about Golden State. What do you hear and what do you like? What's the buzz? Yeah, so I've been talking to people there. We've been in training camp and they're just so excited about the vibe. And that's not surprising. I don't think because they're, you know, we talk about the heat culture about the Golden State's culture's pretty good. Again, remember you and I were talking about draymond green, what's the fallout? No fallout. It's three months green. It's stream on being draymond on we go. I'm sure they weren't happy about it. But who's talked about that in weeks? Nobody. But people are watching Jordan Poole. You know, everyone's talking about wiseman, which I understand. Like Jordan Poole, we keep talking about this little group of players, right? He's another one to me that could just take off. And just 6 man of the year possibility of a 100% 100%. So if he does take off, just think about how that solves a lot of things for the warriors. Steve Kerr apparently it's just been really energized with these guys. I think part of it is seeing clay back now. And what we won't know, clay looks good by all accounts, but it doesn't matter till he actually gets out there. So but they just need one of those young bigs to kind of make it happen. So I think people are sleeping on Golden State. I really do. I think one of the things I saw had them ranked 13th in the league. I think that's I think that's low for them. I mean, because are we forgetting about Steph Curry or what? My fear with them was I was dubious of the clay return until understandable. Maybe mid January and then it's like when he comes back is he a 100%. I just felt like people are factoring that in. So when I saw the 47 and a half, it's like, all right, they're gonna go 48 and 34, but we know they're getting 50 games out of clay. That seems ambitious..

"Couple clippers contracts and that's it for Ben Simmons. Is that are they looking at like 20, 25 cents a dollar? I just don't think Dara would do that. I think you'd rather just bury him and do a steering contest because the thing is, I've been waiting for this to happen with somebody where the player who thinks he has all the leverage who's already getting paid who just thinks he can decide what to do. Actually picks the wrong fight. And in this case, it's the wrong fact. Is Doc Rivers certainly doesn't care. He's been in the NBA for four decades. He's not gonna back down to this guy. Sixers owners don't care. Darrell had all of China coming after him. He's fine. And then the Philly fans, there are the same way. So it's like this is the one situation where I think the player picked the wrong battle. Even the Kyrie thing, there's people will cave in the Kyrie thing. It'll happen. I don't think there's going to be caving in this Philly thing. Well, and the one thing, too, that we can't stress enough is. You know how tough Philly fans are, even when you're trying and you're struggling a little bit, this kid can not I mean they'll destroy him. And he was already and I learned this from the piece I did on Ben a couple years ago, already a little sensitive to what Philly fan said about him and thought about him in this whole idea of they like Joelle better and all this other stuff. I mean, they'll destroy him now, because anyone that was maybe on the fence, which I can't imagine there are many Philly fans left that that's the case. After this today, how can you possibly even do anything that suggests any inkling of empathy or humanity regarding him? Because he's basically thumbing his nose at you, your team, your coach, your TM, your franchise player, everybody. And showed up to collect some paychecks, which was pretty transparent. And that's not going to play well either. Well, now, so now you suspend us. So here's my question. I go back to this again. What if? And I don't have no inside knowledge. This is just me projecting, which is what we like to do. What if Ben Simmons is cam comes out and says, Ben Simmons has some mental health issues. He needs to take some time away. This is no different as we've said over and over and over in this league than a torn ACL. A broken mind is just as important as a broken leg. He needs to take a leave of absence. And the sixers would have to pay him, wouldn't they? Yeah, if that happens, which I think is a real possibility, I would hope it's genuine because I think that would demean the people who actually battle. I couldn't agree more. But I would say, based on everything we've seen that's gone on with mint Ben Simmons, I think there's some stuff going on with him. Legitimately, there's stuff going on with him. And there was some stuff in that even in that Ramona piece about this situation with his family, which we knew and we've talked about a load on the pod. But yeah, it seems like there's a lot of burdens with this dude. I think he has some real family issues. And I think it's like the stuff we talked about in the past, the difference between fearful and fearless and janus how fearless that guy is. That guy is unafraid of everybody and everything and every situation. And if something bad happens, he's on to the next play and Ben Simmons is just the opposite. And it seems like something changed in him between senior and high school and LSU where he became fearful instead of fearless. Right. But yet, we have again examples throughout history. You know, Magic Johnson came out as a rookie in 1980 and he was fearless. He played all 5 positions you want him a championship. And then, you know, in Boston garden, four years later, three years later, he dribbles out the clock and misses free throws and everyone's calling him tragic magic. And then within a year he's wins a championship again. So it's at least he had the baseline of he had had some real success. I guess the issue that fans I talked to are like, what are Ben Simmons wins? What are the things we can point to where it's like, well, he came through that time. It doesn't exist. So when you combine that with all the stuff that's happening now, and we've seen, I mean, you really, you don't have to go back to the cocaine era where you see guys who just tail off. Right? But it was always drugs, or it was always some sort of terrible knee injury. Like, you know, what happened to grand hill or what happened to it? Right. Yeah, which is a shame. But you go back to the 80s and you go look at some of the basketball. Go look at like John drew, go look at John Lucas. Go look at microwave Richardson. These guys, Michael ray Richardson so on, you know, everybody always says he was going to be the missing piece for X, Y and Z, you know, all those guys. Hey, go all the way back to Spencer, Hayward. Who tells who tells his story very plainly that he should have won three championships with the Lakers? But he's too busy being coked up. And God bless him. He's clean now and he's a great he's a great cautionary tale and is so eloquent it telling it. But but I don't think that's what's going on here. I'm not saying that that's what's going on. I know you're not over the course MBA history where Elgin bail is another one, right? Everybody says LJ heard his knee at some point in the mid 60s. Right. It was just never the same. And that's it. So we've seen it with injuries. We've seen it with drugs. We've seen guys get a little funky like latrell sprewell. I think people forget he was first team all in BA and gold state midnight. I would say he was probably the third best two garden the league when he strangled PJ. Looked at his career was over, but he came back. I don't I'm really starting to wonder as Ben Simmons come back in a way that this doesn't that it doesn't drag this around. Now you could say sprewell did. It's pretty well choked his coach was a pariah and was a hero for the Knicks within a year and a half. How about Ron artest, destroyed the league with malice in the palace? Get some counseling. Thanks his psychiatrist on the podium as he beats the Celtics in Boston for an NBA championship. Happens. So I guess the difference with this is we've pointed to all these different things. It's like injury. Some sort of terrible incident drugs. I don't remember just this guy doesn't really like it here situation. Snowballing like this has. But I guess I would push back that I think there's more to it. That's why I'm arguing this mental health, just look between the lines. Some of the things you're talking about, I just think it's a bigger issue. And if it is, it's one that no one will be sympathetic towards, but I will, if.

"Chris Ryan, Paul Newman, Tom Cruise Martin Scorsese. It's a really good one. Fun talking about Newman. I don't remember if we'd really dove into Newman before. So we did it on that one. Also, we did a bunch of basketball coverage today in the ringer. We used the green room on Spotify, did some live pods that bring our NBA show, the mismatch, had a whole bunch of pairings in there. Did an after show tonight after the Lakers warriors came, so keep an eye out for all that content as well. I'm really excited for the basketball season and have a basketball and football together. It's just beautiful. Coming up on this podcast, I'm going to talk a little bit at the top and then Jackie McMullen and I we taped that earlier in the day, but we covered Ben Simmons in the season itself. So that's happening. And then Ben sole act terminator. Relatively new ringer employee hire addition, free agent, whatever you want to call him, but he's been killing it on Warren sharp's Wednesday show in the ringer game show in the ringer and her first show as well. So he came on to break down a little 6 game report of what containers we should be watching, who's in trouble with two and four teams could be a little sneaky dangerous, maybe and a whole bunch more. That is all coming up in one second. I wanted to talk about some of the sports tonight before we get to the rest of the podcast. So I'm taping this part of the pod. It is almost ten o'clock, Pacific time. Just went through another Red Sox roller coaster. You knew they weren't going to win all three at home. I was really trying to be realistic about that. These games, 8 o'clock, 8 o'clock, 5 o'clock.

"I brought up this trade because i think the most likely scenario by far as phillies staring contest them may have michael rubin. Who's one of their owners. Who has is in good standing with the league in the players that have that they had doc rivers one of the most respected coaches. Whether you want to bring up his three one stop for not and they have embiid. Who's one of the best players in the league. And i just having known daryl for almost two decades and having watched how he is run basketball teams. He is never made the three. The dollar for three-quarter straight. He just doesn't do it. He's always trying to get the better guy he's always trying to get the best thing in the trade and now's last stick with the george. It makes more sense to me that he would overpay for paul george then then he would do some stupid minnesota trade and get de ngelo russell. Back that he's never made a deal with that in his career. Other than the westberg. Chris paul trade which should be at thirty for thirty. Because i still don't know. Nfl with that trade. I don't know who wanted to do it. I don't know why it happened. It was the most uncharacteristic trade any. Gm has made for what they more normally make. I will never understand what it was. 'cause hardened credit and chris paul cohen co exist anymore and harden wasn't going anywhere that why. Why are you throwing in packs but except hardened did go somewhere but yeah but that was just built. Your daryl's already gone by then. Yeah it was weird so anyway zach. Do you agree with me on that. That it seems unrealistic. That daryl's just gonna do a cheers fifty five cents for my second best player trade. I haven't liked any of the trades. Really that that. I've done on the trade machine for that reason and i do think that the sixers are trying their best to wait out. The damian lillard situation. I don't know how long they can wait. Maybe they're waiting out bradley beal situation. Which seems to have quieted down. And maybe the wizards have a good year this year and he signs an extension and there is never a bradley beal situation. I think they're trying to play that waiting game. But you know they're gonna have competition for all those guys and everybody wants them. And i think too that the difference here was simmons is. He just doesn't have the leverage you know Which paul's done this past. Obviously with his clients with a d. and others But this is different. I mean he's at his lowest value ever ever and and he's and he's he's locked up for a bunch of years so it's not like was he gonna do hold out for four years. Well that's the thing. He's got four years left on his contract. You obviously the league office is going to watch this very carefully. You know philly handle it. Is he actually not going to report. The camp is like it's easy. It's still like. I know. I know we had the news today that he doesn't intend to port. Camping doesn't intend to we'll. I'm sorry. I think will not report to cam right. Not intend to play another game for the sixers to me. He's keep keep that hasn't happened yet until it happens. Like i still need to see him actually not show up and if he shows up week late that still counts to me is showing up but you better believe the league is watching because like you said. Jackie what is he's got four years contract now he's actually just gonna play. Does he have an obligation to play. Those are really tough questions but this is a scenario that is going to be really interesting to watch but i know the sixers are like you can say whatever you want. Seven days in advance. We know how much money you make. We've never seen a players. Say you know what. I don't wanna thirty five million dollars this lab cool like i'll take. I'll take zero in like we've seen versions in football. We'd never seen somebody who could make this much. What bell lebanon bell did it levin now for thirty five million thirty whatever. Whatever and let me on. Bell wasn't a former number one pick. Who just as disintegrated before our eyes. It's just it's it was stunning to watch. It's still stunning for me to watch. Because i you know. I just hope ben i. I wish ben simmons. Well i want him to find himself into you know but this is. This isn't gonna fly. It's just not so we'll get fined right. It'll be insubordination. You're right the legal. Come down at some point. I i don't i don't know what they'll do. I don't know what the sixers will do. I mean i just. I think that. That's what simmons and his team. It clutch are counting on is like i don't know we don't know what they're gonna do. I think they picked the wrong teen to mess with on this one. That seems pretty that team's going to be pretty resolute of not being pushed around. I think if it was a you know maybe fifteen other franchises would probably fold pretty quickly. I don't see the sixers unit it. we're take one more break..

"Wrong luca ron luca's number. One russell westbrook is number. Two and damian lillard is number. Three but ben simmons is number four. Think about it. He comes in the open floor. He pounded into the paint. Everybody falls a dishes out boom. They hit threes. So if i'm steve bomb like okay okay. That's good that's good but then my analytics guys say oh. Yeah we should tell you this. He made three hundred twenty five field goals this year and three hundred fifteen of them were in the bay. Think about that guys. that's outrageous. That's outrageous eddie. Was the worst free throw shooter in the price and also like zero of those field goals. We're in the fourth quarter of seven game playoff series. But but the thing that i think is interesting. People are really focused on the three point shooting. It's the mid range shooting. He only took twenty one mid range shots all year. How is this possible. How is this possible. So if i'm sag bomber that makes my head explode on. I'm vomiting and i'm saying man that guy. Bill simmons is nuts zach. This is a stunning. He'll turn by jackie. Who is been on this podcast. Many times talking about ben. Simmons i do like he's who i know you you're the best of the he cares too much. Ben simmons defense. He wants to be perfect. He died shoot. He doesn't wanna miss. I believe that it has to be unafraid to fail. I i still believe that bill. And i'll tell you he took ten three pointers. Is this past year ten. He made three of them so he shot thirty percent. Okay thirty percent. That's not good right. But if you shot fifty. I guarantee you would have been thirty five percent and then he'd just be like everybody else but the the part like i told you this i don't know what's been happening with ben simmons. I have not talked to him. Or i have not talked to his people about him in in several months. But if i were in charge of ben simmons. I would have done a couple of things i would have immediately. Got him into mental health counseling because he has a mental block with this game. Much like the yips with steve. Sax or I can name a bunch of nba players. That i think would have been. If darren williams was another guy that i always thought what was going on there. Someone should have been working with a you know a mental health coach. Or you know a positive self talk coach or whatever. You want the heck all summer doing that. Aside from in the gym shooting threes. Or whatever else. And then. If i were ben simmons i would come out and say look. I'm not reporting to the sixers. 'cause they tried to trade me. Yeah and then they tried to make it like everything was fine. And i'm not stupid. And i've been trying to roll with this so-called process but let's be let's be real here. Y'all want joel. You don't want me so just let me go. That was that's perfect. That was my advice for him on this podcast a few weeks ago. Come the heart. No the heart and trade really screwed with my head and i lost my confidence because i know and they know that they try to trade me and then trade fell through basically. Yeah that's my favorite. Everyone's looking at me going. No no we love you. We still love you. Ask right and it's like you guys. Try to trade me to mess of my head. It's like ray allen it except for it didn't was when the celtics tried to trae ray allen that yet. Yeah that that was different. He was dumb with them. He didn't mess with a set because he's way too self-confident and pray that you just got ticked. And and that's why no matter what the celtics offered him. He wasn't stay in the next year. And i don't blame him. Yeah i realized. I think one of the reasons bill you and i both liked the theoretical minnesota fit. Even though the wolves wolves fans are like what can we get him for like. Alex rodriguez memorabilia and mcdaniels ads. I think because. I think there's a natural appeal to now simmons edwards. I think there'd be some stuff sort out there but susan's an and one of the greatest shooting big man of all time. Who actually kinda wants to shoot ten threes. A game in the break again call. Towns wants his posters too. But he doesn't want to twenty five times a game get the ball on the left block and you know jab step into all the stuff that embiid does even though we can do it. I think there's a natural appeal to that. And that's a team. That badly needs any semblance of defensive identity. Is there deal there to be made. I don't know but one of the first deals. I thought of when the minute that that simmons pass that dunk up is minnesota for russell beasley and a whole boatload picks russell whatever and a whole below two picks. Daryl that's i. Both sides seem to hate that deal so maybe nothing to it. Maybe a three team deal. But i do think you take simmons to a team. That doesn't have a post up center. And and his life begins to look a little different. The problem is most teams. Have one guy in their rotation who can't shoot whether it's or there's already mongering it's hard to find that environment. Yeah i mean. I still think i always thought golden state would work even with draymond. I still believe that. But i'm in. I'm in the minority. I know that i still believe. Ben simmons what can i tell you i. I kinda still believe in him too. I think this is salvageable. But this is. I mean we so many incredible skills. He was sickened in defensive player. In the voting and to be honest should have won. I liked the thought of him on the clippers. With all those shooters got pretty interested in me. The more i thought. Here's george paul. George is too big. I get i get it. But here's thing with darrell. And this is the reason..

"Poem murray is out for for the extended run here. Oh you know. Ben simmons and yokich have a little. I could see a chemistry. There is jamal. Mount murray like fair compensation for benson is like he was pretty impressive in the bubble and denver wants to make a run right. I don't think. I just feel like they care too much about the chemistry stuff. That's a really close team. I'm bentsen clutch on that team. All right all right. i'm it too right. We have to see who work where clutches whereas got his clutches. I think ben. Simmons needs to be on a team where somebody else's in charge of perimeter ball handling shot creation. He's moving that eight. His bag like we kept calling him like magic johnson lebron as meaning like dudes that run the offense for the lion share of the possessions there on the floor for their team. They're initiating offense for their team and doing it. Efficiently generating quality looks all over the place. Ben simmons eight that play next to a guy that can actually do that so he could be free up to be the crazy athlete that he is a denver. Re-signed austin rivers. Can we do a little. We do a little role play. It depends. I'm going to be dennis schreuder. Ub my two agents. Oh god hey guys at standards again. i'm really starting to panic here. we have. We heard anything. What's what's going on anybody anything. What are we doing dennis. I gotta tell ya Toronto has great hotels with great five star. Lotions i think toronto look your slide. Right kyle lowry is i know. It's cold but they have a very wonderful and diverse food culture up there. You're able to get fantastic. carribean food. syrian food. Have you ever tried syrian food. That is but look. It's a short flight from from from toronto down down to floor. I mean look. Toronto just played a whole season in tampa. They know that flight pattern exists dennis. So just think about it. "The knicks and you believe in what you have to offer to a superstar as far as your market as far as you know just all the amenities that come with being a big deal in new york city then you should be operating this way right and treading water address. Seven seat isn't the ended a world because playoff basketball in. Msg is a thing and it's a lot of fucking wealth and they they've the culture all the guys they added that helps the cameras of renowned. Great guy i would say one of the five or six most popular guys in the entire league that him people like for think and celtics stint with short but there was good feedback about him and just in general like the culture is in place which is the biggest they needed repair. They had hit a situation where major free agents word even meeting with them like durant never met with them in two thousand sixteen. You know when you when you hit that point yeah. It's it's dark well. Here's the concern that i have. Bill simmons there is a scenario under which both of our beloved basketball teams may not make the. We're going to be the the playing. thank god. they're bringing back to playing game like the east got better. The east is better. These improved quite a bit. I mean you you have to You have the brooklyn milwaukee philly triumvirate at the top and you if you assume that phillies going to work out. Ben simmons thing at some point get something of value in return. It's that those big three and then miami took a giant step forward with with lowry and then the next class is atlanta who made the f. conference finals and his running it back. They brought john collins back. They knicks the knicks. Just improved and the pacers essentially. Are you know getting back. Guys that were injured last season at the functional equivalent of getting. You know brand. New players and tj worn and and levert right and and the bulls just made a significant improvement as well god. Damn what's washington and boston. Supposed to do. And by the way matching charlotte. Well you're in more trouble than i am. I think is here just a just a bit more. I have to agree. But i'm just saying i have that sparks drop sixers. He dropped hawk. Celts drop both pacers knicks. That's nine and all of those teams have reason to think that they could get to a four seat. Yes right again. One injury somewhere. You're a little better than you thought. And then that hornets raptors wizards thing. I liked what the hornets did And then now. There's marketing rumors with him with them. Which i still think you know we. We could see but the the Really the only three that you're writing offer the magic and the cavs and the pistons. The raptors are kind of cool. I don't know what they are. But i'm not going to write them off right. No no no. They're too smart especially especially since they just made a messiah jerry. Czar freak in the. Oc raptor yeah. That was crazy. He basically gets. I refuse on so guys. Role is to first refusal at adam. Silver's jobs like you rigor. If he wants we should look into the whatever point The book start putting up odds. Toronto has a dark horse candidate for ben simmons. I could absolutely see that as a destination. Because of the stability over the organization masai and nurse and like a what an opportunity for him to rehabilitate himself in the town would would absolutely like tons like portland and toronto. That have a nurturing relationship with with the team. I could see ben simmons in toronto. I would not shock me yet. We should probably mention them with. Ben simmons teams. 'cause they they it. Crm siachen plus plus. Yeah i've seen. I've seen that out there. Obviously ben a loss. If you're if you're feeling you're not you're like wow. This is what we turned. We got siaka who got suspended last year and went off a cliff for a little while other. That's what we turn bed. Simmons it is certain point. You gotta start talking yourself into cj mccollum if you're gonna do that what i can't believe back on segments. What's the most fun simmons trade. 'cause i feel like just the one v one him for levin is the most fun trade where we would have the simmons reinvention chicago the third biggest market. We have and then. We'd have levine on a really good team with good players around him on a team that actually needs all the things that he's good at. You know coming off. The olympic experience as house does i love trading for guys after. They've been in the olympics when they've worked with all the Stars and gotten the You know little tips and little tricks in watching so and so waking up at five in the morning and all that stuff like they always say naveh goodyear year after that were we going to say was me. The most fun would have been him or portland with dame though and allowing him to be the draymond to dame's staff right where whenever teams put two on the ball on the picket role You can just give that past. Ben simmons at the top of the key and he's going downhill with a head of steam. You know three onto. And that's like that's dangerous. That's fun that's like players who actually complement each other in an ecosystem that makes sense for anything. You're talking portland daimler. Not olympic embarrassed dame lo. You go with the slander. Nba or the table. I'm not letting of a four-game.

"We see some stock up. Stock down stuff happening. Ben simmons is value just in this hawks series has pushed him until a the level. We were talking on green room. We're just. kfc was. I was like i know you've been on the trade machine. Kfc and he's like. Oh yeah we started around and it got to the point where it was like. Ben simmons for zach levine. And patrick williams. Chicago wouldn't do that. It's too much. I to lead gash. Kaga wouldn't do that. So it's like all right would they. Do zac levine. For ben simmons. Then we're like I don't know. Like wow ben simmons who was the focal point of a james harden and trade five months ago and now we're wondering if chicago would trade zach levine. Straight up for him and it comes down to like he's a forty four minute guy you know and sometimes this happens with basketball. R- you have you forty eight minute guys. Forty four minute guys. The shock was a forty four. Minute guy you wanna title with him because he always had kobe or wade he always at somebody for the last four minutes. Simmons might not even be a forty four minute guy. He might be like a thirty six minute. Guy in the fourth quarter. He's just he's not only out of the loop pitas seem to want any part of it and i don't know how that can be your second best guy in title team. What do you see was second best. Say okay i've been off. Ben simmons basically. It's like year two or three when it was so obvious that he just was not going to change or prove what he did. One and to your best player. He takes away from from him optimizing all of his skill set meaning. You're always hanging out at the paint. And that's where i'm best at and i did it. Joel is stretching his game out to accommodate dude who is way worse than him. Instead of the other way around. That's crazy it would be like. If lebron was accommodating cow coups mma cow coups made himself into a garbage pail type of hustle type of god because those are the guys that fit well against next. Lebron you spot up you get the garbage points. You d up good wings. that's the ideal fit next lebron. While he's orchestrating offense. This i did at joel is developing jump shots. Further and further and further away from the basket to accommodate his quote unquote running mate. It's ridiculous and again offensively. what has he added. Has he added a little post game of florida game. A mid range game but crazy. Nothing has been added since his second year in the league. It's you telling me zach levine. Excuse me zach levine. Beasts people wanna would be makes free throws zach. Levine is an excellent shooter. And he's added to his game he's added to his game yes. He's a civil defence. We know that. But i'm sorry. Zach levine has easily identifiable playoff traits. What is ben simmons. Doing for me. And i'll ask you guys this because i- been kilobits simmons for like two weeks now. I asked you guys this big of somebody like mikhail bridges who nobody would ever consider him like in the ballpark of being some second best player on a title team. The way you just mentioned with simmons would team in their right mind would swap those two under any circumstances for what especially at the simmons. Price like bridges extensive. He'd probably go get to one hundred mil who probably get a twenty. Five year is in the thirties to do what to do. What for you i object. I'm sorry i've been offered his kid. And i'm going to regain off until he shows me an aptitude to do things that matter offensively in these big spots you see the god gives the ball ability standing two feet from the basket the whole possess you. He's a standard row guy. You basically doubling up anybody who wants to go near the basket. Well then they say when he does. The screen arose and atlanta's just dropping twelve feet back. They're not even near marcus. What do you think. Where do you stand on the benson and say i'm the more people are often the more get on his. I see. I see the potential in a year right of shopping for talent. Baby what is he. Twenty twenty two twenty three dollars probably about twenty four now these twenty four now. Yeah yeah so. He's like four years in the league. I i think he needs to change of scenery. The the the the reason. I feel. Good about ben simmons because i think what bothers him has been so i think he might be adding onto game. He has never using. He's ever used it right. I could see this do ball. It like la an off season right. Got all this stuff. Everybody's like yo wires you do it right because something is up there. He needs to change of scenery a he clearly needs a roster around here right like he needs he needs he needs way or space I still have hope for is not in though. It's not affiliate at all. He's got to get off the court you've gotta take a bus to the games that that excludes him for being a top three player on the team championship team. It literally takes you out. You got to take them off the court but put it with the right news like if you put him with staff and clay and the the problem is driven by now. You've got two guys like that. But unless drones in the trade let's trade. You eat yogurt about the can saw so this superstar alleged superstar big time talent this one specific instance in the whole effective orleans. If you don't trade cj but you got dame c. J. he's that third three. i mean. Look you gotta keep it wearing his. Lots andrew wiggins for a year right. I feel like it's possible. I feel like there's hope for players like you know say i feel like there's a rehab that could be done. That could kind of us got it. Forget about the money you gotta like put out the window and figure out how you could use them on. Still been usable. I just. He's not that he's not that do he. He's not the dude that we thought he was and the faster. Everybody realizes that the better off he will be. I wish that he had had two years on. Like how devon booker had a couple of those years on phoenix where he just had to worry about scoring twenty seven game and not having to carry a team. Do too much like the team was going nowhere. I wish instead had a couple of years where he was just the doodo guy for crappy team..
