"I'm talking about Chris heats article in esquire that is about the Whitmer kidnapping this is a very eye opening article. It's called the militia men the governor and the kidnapping that wasn't. Even the title is really good because this was a kidnapping that never actually happened. Now at one critical point in the trial, Chris heat says the government is putting on this evidence and they're showing that these guys, you know, they were, they weren't just talking about kidnapping, they were, they conducted a nighttime reconnaissance on governor Whitmer's Elk rapids vacation home. So they were kind of call it casing the joint because they were looking, they were doing a sort of rehearsal. And so this truck with 5 people, it was such a Chevy Silverado was now approaching Whitmer's Elk rapids vacation home. And then Chris heat goes, but I began to then look at who's in the truck. And he says, of the 5 people, there was Fox and craft two of the defendants, they happened to be sitting in the backseat. Craft is in the middle next to a man who has it turns out as an FBI informant. That's FBI informant number one. The truck is being driven by the owner, a guy named Dan Chappell. Dan Chappell is also an FBI informant. In fact, he's the guy who suggested the trip. And sitting next to Dan chapel is another man who is not only an FBI informant, but an FBI agent. So you got 5 guys in the truck three of them are either FBI informants or FBI agents. And so Chris heath is like, what kind of a reconnaissance is this? In which the majority of participants are, in fact, FBI agents are informants.
Joey Hudson Amazed by High Prices of Cars Right Now
"A premium right now. Right before the end of the year, I traded in my 2012 Chevy Silverado. I thought it was about time to get a new one. I was amazed at the price of new cars if you could find one. So I tried it in my 2012, which looking back on it, maybe I should have kept it. I had just over a 100,000 miles on it, I thought, well, this is a good time to trade. And I was just sickened. When I went online and I saw the price that they had listed, my used car app. It was within a $1000. Of what I paid for it. In early 2013, again, as 2012 model, I bought it in early 2013. It literally, as a used vehicle with a 108,000 miles on it, was within a $1000 of what I paid for it. I usually vehicle. That was a nice one. It was a nice truck. Joe Biden does not have a clue, though, when he tells you and me to have a little piece of mind. You know it's bad when you have the

"Combustion engine. It just seems like a subtle hint of inferiority towards the EV version. So anyway, max range, they say the zero to 60 will be less than four and a half seconds. D.C. fast charging up to 350 kW and max towing capacity up to 10,000 pounds and 1300 pound payload. So of course none of those except for the charging rate would be comparable to what we expect from the top of the line. CyberTruck. As for the timeline, they say that in spring 2023, they'll debut the Silverado WT. I think that would likely be for commercial customers. And then they say in fall 2023, a fully loaded RSD first edition model will debut with an MSRP of $105,000 plus destination and freight charges. So a bit more expensive than the Ford F one 50 lightning tops out at, but this does have 400 miles of range estimated versus at 300. GM definitely loves to just pack a lot of batteries into their vehicles. Anyway, that's the high end they say that after production ramps, they will unleash a full Silverado EV portfolio, including the WT with the starting price point of 39,900 four. And then that the lineup will cover kind of the whole price range from high to low. So as far as I can tell, GM, not announcing any of the specs on those lower end vehicles, very intentional and not surprising from GM because then all the articles are just going to say, oh, 400 mile range truck. $40,000 gets people all excited and then, well, that's actually the $105,000 version. So I think that's all we know right now about this over auto EV as far as I can tell. No word on any targeted production rates. GM today also announced electric versions of the Chevy Equinox and Chevy blazer SUV, both of which they said will be available in 2023. Now specs on those vehicles, GM just says that the estimated MSRP for the equinox would be around $30,000 in the U.S. and then they did have a few renders of that vehicle as well. All right, next up here we got some pretty interesting news from Amazon today. They announced a partnership with Stellantis saying that it will be quote a series of global, multiyear agreements that will transform the in vehicle experience for millions of Stellantis customers and advance the mobility industries transition to a sustainable software defined future..

"So maybe part of the logic is that if Tesla's getting another temporary permit, then maybe it's still going to be a little bit before that final permit is granted. Tobias does also note that the German government has received all of the documents that they need from Tesla, so there were some stories. I don't know when exactly maybe a couple weeks back, but some reports that some of those documents had been received yet. At least currently it doesn't seem to be the case. So that's where we're at with Berlin still just a waiting game as for Texas, kind of the same boat there. Some people expecting an announcement later this week. We shall see. I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla just throw some sort of an update into the Q four earnings report. That'll be in about three weeks. Then we do also have an update on Giga Shanghai. This is from Wuhan, who does the drone flowers there. He writes that, quote, according to the news, Tesla Shanghai factory internal transformation has begun. The current reservation is small and scale and does not affect production. At this stage, the main production is exporting Tesla and the working hours of employees are 12 hours per shift. So from my understanding, this is the continuation of a previous report that Tesla was going to be expanding from December 2021 through April 2022, adding a fourth General Assembly line, going from three to four lines, simple math on that. That could facilitate an increase of 33% or more in production. As for that 12 hours per shift component, it had previously been reported that Gigafactory Shanghai workers were working in 11 hour shifts, so who was actually saying this is an increase from 11 up to 12. Could possibly see increased production from that as well. Next on the docket, we've got a status update on the lawsuit of Tesla by Nikola motors. This was a $2 billion lawsuit in regard to the design of the Tesla semi. I say was because the lawsuit is no longer both Tesla Nicola filed to drop all claims and counterclaims against each other on this action. However, it was dismissed without prejudice, which means that the case could be pursued at a later time if things change in either company decides that they do want to end up pursuing it. I won't expect that. This is probably the last we'll hear of it, but that is a possibility. No updates on if Tesla decided to change anything, I would really doubt it. I think it's highly likely that Nicola just decided to stop pursuing. All right, next up here we've got an update from redwood materials and this actually is directly related to Tesla as well because redwood is going to be working with Panasonic for materials for the Gigafactory. Redwood materials writes quote by the end of 2022, Panasonic North America will include redwoods copper foil, produced from recycled materials back into new battery production at the Gigafactory. This will be the first time batteries will be recycled, remanufactured, and returned to the same factory and a closed loop. So kind of cool to see that. Obviously, redwood materials founded by JB straubel, former cofounder of Tesla, former CTO. Nice to see you a little bit of a reconnection there..

"It's been a really rough two days for the NASDAQ. And of course, Tesla has also talked about that. We do also have some Tesla specific news in terms of Giga Berlin, Giga Shanghai, resolution of a lawsuit. We've got some updates from redwood materials GM, Amazon, and Sony. All right, so looking at the markets Tesla today, rough day, down 5.3% to $1088, 12 cents, and after such a strong Monday after that Q four delivery report, Tesla is now down 9.3% over the last two days. Let's bring in some more context here, though, the NASDAQ today obviously down three and a third percent. That is the worst day for the NASDAQ. And nearly an entire year the last day, the NASDAQ was down more than this was February 25th last year. Of course, yesterday was pretty tough too. So if we look at the two day change, the NASDAQ actually down about 4.6% over the last two days, that is the second worst two day period for the NASDAQ since the beginning of last year. The only worst two day period was March 2nd to March 4th, when the NASDAQ was down about four and three quarters percent. So what was Tesla's performance over those two days in March last year? Well, Tesla was down 9 and a half percent. And remember this year during this stretch, decile down 9.3%. So I think these last couple of days perfectly illustrate how big of an impact in the short term the macro environment can have. In my view, that's probably 95% plus of the move that we have seen in Tesla for the last two days. So in terms of Tesla on its own, don't panic, must of course you are concerned about the macro environment. Someone just asked me recently, what are my plans if there is a recession? Well, recessions create great opportunities for long-term investors to buy into really great businesses at discounted rates. If Tesla falls a lot, Tesla, it's going to be under that category of being a really great business. Tesla's got a great management team, a great balance sheet, great demand, great margins, great competitive advantages. There's no place I'd rather have my money in a recession than in Tesla. Now obviously, you got to be careful with the leverage. That's how people get burned and can't recover, but if you hold a great business, you're going to see the other side of it. Just look at Apple through 2008. The stock lost 60% of its value recovered back to the peak in less than a year and went on to then double. And of course, since then, it's up a nice little 75 X so that's basically my general plan just kind of always making sure that I'm not leveraged to a point where I couldn't survive something like that. I'm certainly not going to be the type of person to try to go into all cash and then buy the shares back at a huge discount if a recession were to happen. I don't have enough confidence in my ability to be able to time the microenvironment in that way. Now, I don't really expect a major recession, something like 2008, but who knows? So that was kind of an aside. Let's take a look at what was actually going on with the market today. The fed did release their meeting minutes from their meeting on December 14th and 15th. So it recognized that there is a fair amount of latency with this information and things do change pretty quickly right now. But The Wall Street Journal reports that the minute showed that, quote, officials believed that rising inflation and a very tight labor market could cough or lifting short term rates sooner or at a faster pace than participants had earlier anticipated. End quote. They also note that, quote, some officials also thought the fed should start shrinking its $8.76 trillion portfolio of bonds and other assets relatively soon after beginning to raise rates the minute set. End quote..

"Correct me if i'm wrong but if you look at our team the last day that newfield existed and today tyler's basically the handing me do glove mcdougal's gone mcdougal mcdougal's gone beach is gone. I'm gone right and so a lot of people. Cooley moved onto completions in several people move to completion. They're still inventive. But in terms of drilling people between newfield and encana once as the last man Who cape may cape reservoir slash production or one do and then she came now. She's drilling manager. Gosh this is a saw grumman. Even even like the younger generation over there like georgia's griffin sailing those catholic. He's good good people and can't a bought a great company man. I looked at field. And i still today. It's like that's best company. Ever man. I'd still be working for newfield today still field but what transpired transpired. What so. how'd you into silverado. So in encana came in and in canada doesn't have lead drilling in years right so they have of basically senior engineers and managers right so they have to bump me up or bump me down and they bumped down known sean which is cool but that put the ball. Oh right so now. The decision is okay. John since we it change in control rules. If we changed your job title you can stay here or you can take your baggage enroll. I'm like i'll take package role and take my chances right in and literally the day or two after i put my notice in the boys from silverado called right and y'all newfield and they're lulu like right down the block pretty much. The same building yet. Weren't saint building so different floor and actually the event of people have have. So i sat down with their twelve. Twelve guys led by larry sorrow and we're backed by an cap and and we're often running man. We're looking for an asset. Yeah go so. Tell me about now. So you've been over there for two years or two years. Yes so y'all i mean every time we meet your like dude. There's we're looking. We're looking like you and i talked recently. And you're like man's exciting right now. there are some. how are things going right. Now they're good man. Were you know we lost the year. Basically 'cause of cova hours right and so the market the a and d market was crazy and bad for year because oil obviously went negative and You know not was selling anything is actually more lucrative. Yappy warnings bankrupt versus sell to us. Do not talk to disarray about that. Like he's on a while ago he was like man. It's just it's it's it's unfortunate. Because like i mean all these companies that could go bankrupt or or no they could sell their decided to go bankrupt and hold onto the acids like. We're doing it to ourselves again. Yeah yep exactly so so a lot of people say like oh well you guys missed the low while you know. We didn't really miss the low trying like hell but you know no one really wanted to talk to us. But now the times of change right oil prices back up in the value of given assets is up and now people are starting to sell tear joan tier three stuff..

What's the future of auto show is because really. This is the first like major proper world auto show as jerem since since cova and the automakers out just super-quick to build on that you know. The vast majority of our audience is not are not automotive journalist. And we kind of want to give that peek behind the curtain. What is it like. "Classless to me. I'll come on. Black on red is timeless. No it's not. I think covers all of the cars. They did though a underlying statement here. Mercedes-benz is going electric and they're doing a very rapidly. The germans in general pushing on this very hard. If you're one of the people that tells you hate electric cars forever. Never you're going to have to get over it because they're not plans for them to make a combustion engine for the foreseeable future if not ever again and what. We've said it many times on this. Show me personally. I'm fine with it electric there. There's no reason to not like electric power. There's no reason to not like from an enthusiast standpoint to not like the instant thrust that you get there's no reason to not like the simplicity of the design I mean how many people really relish taking their car into the dealership poor expensive services We gotta go in and get the timing belt done. We gotta go in and get the oil changed. I we gotta go in The water pump is leaking. We gotta get the water pump fixed by the just going down the list of stuff. My mazda recently You don't have that with electric cars you don't you. Don't have to worry about the radiator springing a leak you know it's just Bring it. I bring it on mercedes No end in. I agree with you simply because in. It's the same reason that the save the manuals brigade kind of bothers me there are going to be for your and my lifetime at least millions of vehicles with an internal combustion engine available that if you want that and if you wanna keep that on the road that you're going to be able to it's I brought this up before. And i'm sorry to whatever author mentioned it but it's the same thing with horses. There was a time a century ago. When horses served a function that they were a real life work. Animal now their pets you can. You can still ride your awards you know. You can do whatever but it's not an animal that you need to like they're gonna get some hate mail from the amish community. You know if the amish communities watching this. I want to get their hate mail. 'cause i'd love to hear from them but horses don't fulfill a work element anymore. Pets you can still ride. You can still dressage or race or whatever you're gonna do with them but that thing exists and that's going to exist with the internal combustion engine as well that it might be a small community than it was whatever time ago but you're still going to be able to buy that vehicle and you know what if you go back in to say the very late eighteen hundreds early nineteen hundreds just as this crazy thing called. The car was coming about. You know i will bet gazillion bazillion dollars flaw. That there is some guy with his horses. Saying you'll never get me in one of those stupid mechanical fangled cars. That machine doesn't have any soul like this horse does right How many people are now talking. You'll never give me into one of those quiet electric cars. Because they have no soul like my. Va does gee sounds kind of it. Sounds kind of familiar. Doesn't it and to build on that. Mike grandfather he owned a horse. This was in the one is. Yeah he he. He was super super proud that he had a horse that can outrun a model. Turkey like that was he. He had a story that he told me multiple times like he had this horse. That could outrun a model. T like and i bet he did because malti wasn't especially fast especially on dirt roads in west virginia. But you know the times have changed and the same thing is going to happen. Electric cars are just look at a model plaid. Look at a taken turbo s. And it's only going to get that levels only gonna get lower and lower. Electric cars are faster than internal combustion vehicles. But they're still going to be this group of a group of people out there that are going to love their internal combustion vehicles and that. That's fine i i love mine. I'll probably have one. I love the sound Clint there's one other thing that i wanted to run by you You kind of touched on it. Here about mercedes dislike going. Full speed ahead on electrification. We saw that in a major way at munich But it's really isn't really a full on german thing because i'd be worse. Bmw at we're gonna what it'd bmw have at twenty munich motorshow aside for their vision concept made of recycles. I'm but in fairness mercedes' excuse me. Bmw our colleague. Jeff says driving. The i accident. I four this week to electric cars. That are adding to their sir. I guess i bring it up. Because i was shocked at mercedes taking such a big step at really their home show. Yeah cities is build so many damn cars that makes sense. Yeah turn all the damn cars into electric damn cars. An hour just didn't have quite the same presence. Audi didn't have quite the same presence. Audi has grand sphere which is going to show off elector. We've seen mockups of electrified. A sixes and stuff. Yeah i say the germans because they have rolling eady's on the road right now. Toyota the biggest carmakers in the world is just starting to flirt with a full battery electric vehicle in their production line. I know that they've done hybrids and plug in hybrids better than most for a long time now but in terms of full electric vacation the japanese have like look at honda. They know plug in hybrids none of that stuff. I mean they're they're slower to come to the table. I think they're trying to get their engineering right in doing it. Right asta or subaru. Japanese have been very slow. Yeah yeah so we you know we'll have. We'll have a taste of toyota. The the fax machine car the be easy for whatever the algae called An honda has plans for his. I d i think in two years so i think nissan to their credit gave us the leaf years ago and since then there hasn't been another japanese. Ev you sold in the us. The muslim very wrong Mitsubishi ibm. I'm fine being wrong without forgetting that one. Yeah you're right though. Correct correct Yeah electrification is coming..

"All the standards that mercedes benz has for their fast as g models. Now at the the announcement said that out. An old clinton. If you're gonna offer some clarification. Am g has has worked on the electric motors. the dual the says do electric motors. Right that's right what what exactly is doing to electric motors. They had lunch with them and they asked how their feelings were they. I had no idea no idea. They're coming from the same plan. I mean they just turn up. I mean the juice on the electric motors. I mean we know i mean. Am gm and you can sit down and fiddle with an internal combustion engine. You can change parts you can do the but electric motor is. I mean electric motors pretty much. I agree with you. I mean. I i would really like to know what. Am jesus doing special to these electric motors. They're not gonna let a car. They're not gonna let it car out of the factory that says. Am jeon not handle so they definitely were a part of that But yeah it's pretty much bang on with qa interior. It has seven hundred fifty. One horsepower like the launch control function zero to sixty in three change. And it won't be as fast as a model as plan. I don't know if you really needed to be. This should be on paper at least a good competitor to taikang turbo s. This car is a lot bigger than tycoon. Turbo it's a. It's a big car. So it's it's a lot of car to throw around corners but you know it's cool I think we have a an l. Wwl teepee range of four hundred and like seventy some miles. Yeah that's not be on cars. Yeah we know. That's that's probably going to be lower when you know for united states did mercedes give any sort of taste on what that's gonna be because not that i remember off the top of my head. I don't think the battery capacity is increased. Emma wrong on that i. I don't have that insulin front of me. I just know. I i saw the four seventy mile range and i was like well that that sounds really really good but we know the probably is really generous. I think what knock a hundred off of that. And you're probably in but i mean that'd be the i mean that's still three hundreds of three hundred seventy eight if you knock if you knock one hundred off of that. I mean if you're still talking like three hundred fifty mile range. I mean. I still think that's pretty good i. It's gonna be less than that for what it's worth four car with us with this kind of performance o. I mean it'll charge quickly. It will do all those sorts of things there. Eight hundred volt architecture isn't coming for a few more years than that'll be a big deal for all their cars. But i think that that's a future thing that we don't have just yet. Can we talk about the qb pretty quickly. Because i think it is a pretty quickly. 'cause i'm not certain that it's coming to america. I kinda doubt it. Yeah i think it is didn't Didn't our colleague brad evans right. This up here. Yeah he did on. Let me and. I've got it right here. I got said that yeah. Us sales confirmed it's coming to america the q. a. is the one that's not confirmed yet. My accused is not coming here. That's the one that's been on sale in europe for a few years but this is kind of cool because just i mean i sat in germany. It's a carbon copy of gop car that fricken love Just electrified the interior is the same same size. Mba screen stuff like that. No hyper screen. Nonsense a mess. I mean what do we what do we know. I haven't had much of a chance to look at this. When what do we know about our range off. Because i mean the am g. e. s. is needs And then of course the might have a larger mainstream audience. But i think the qb will be probably the most mainstream of all of these electric offerings right now. So i'm looking at it now. You're getting front and rear electric motors or sixty six point five kilowatt hour lithium ion battery that wwl teepee so again. You've gotta take this number down but in that Estimate four hundred nineteen kilometers. That's two hundred sixty miles so it should be two hundred well. everything. I'm reading including our stories saying about two hundred and fifty two hundred and sixty miles every day. They can do it. I mean i think my problem with the car is none of them. Look as good as their gas counterparts dodge. I think that's a perfect segue. bruce do you have the my back so handy by chance could. Can we talk about that for a second. We can because i've got pulled up here but everyone says it looks bad. Does it looks that bad. It does it. Looks like it's bad it. No okay. So it's like this right. I find it. Looks like one of those prank couple videos where the guy just filled his girlfriend's shampoo bottle with superglue and he's hiding in the other room grinning his ass off about you know over what's about to happen. I mean i mean look at the front of look at the front of this thing. It's bad that's got a lot of face. That's my bod. Version faces the yeah. This is the the mercedes my back e. s. suv that got wrecked crack. So this will come. This is my bach form as a concept will see a non. My balk form aka just iki. Suv next year and then the production car will be on the road. Twenty twenty three the earliest Have a lot of face to face and now think about this for the regular each. Us suv. that's just going to be a giant three point star in the middle. That is way too much face. The my bach grill streaks. Yeah okay you're fully. I mean twenty four inch wheels which could be the first on any production are but i don't know who in the right mind needs twenty four on an electric car. Gotta be range steelers. Yeah that's always bugged me about large wheels. They zap power. They look good. In some instances others not really the interior. It's it's close to. Of course it's going to look nice. You don't have to see the face from in there. I don't know whatever. Whatever i look at that concept i think okay if jim carey ever did another mask movie definitely drive at. This is what he would drive. It is the two tones bad to to turn shouldn't be on. Ekg either for it's where they get a little rambunctious with the two-tone thought. The two-to-one looks classy. I really liked it. I would like to see more with tone as bad. I think if you did a black on silver it would be okay. Black on red is.

"Let's go for it we. It is the second biggest sedan. It debuts they i think crappy two hundred eight horsepower though they say because of the torque figure. I think it's still gets to sixty five and change or something like that but the us has a good amount of juice. I think this thing is down on power but Still though they'll make faster versions of down the line. I think they're badging this one. A three fifty an e. s. is four fifty and five eighty. So i think this is just the entry level car Other headline on e is. It has hyper screen. Which is the one single pisa glass. That floats across the entire dashboard. I got to see it in person for the first time. It collects fingerprints like i collect jolly ranchers throughout the day fe by still has nowhere because of the we talked about before. I get these big screens going to look when they're shut off and everybody's been touching them all day. I could germaphobe getting there and being a little uncomfortable. The the thing i haven't done yet has been around one of these cars at night and you guys all know it from the amount of mercedes cars right about the ambient lighting in these cars truly special and the cabin looks really really tricky at night so i'm excited to see it. I also think it looks a little better than the us which the bars on the floor for that because our car is a giant rolling egg. Don't things that bad not bad. This one has a trunk. Us has a hatchback. That's weird right. I i would take the hatchback in an instant. I'm a hatch me man me too and that doesn't look bad. That's a decent looking car. Hyper screen on. The inside is very cool. The name is confusing to me. And i think sounds pretty bad q. E. that's not a pretty name for a car when we have cars that are named stelvio and other things but like you know it's it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. But i mean no i mean it is what it is has signed on to go iki with their electric vehicles and for the sake of symmetry. Yeah you're gonna have the iki which we the e. class the u. s. which will be the s. class. The ekg which will be the class do we. What do we want to segue ekiji. Which can't hold up cluster. Ekg concepts they. They told us a few days before he left for germany. Like hey this concept is under wraps. Here's an nda here's another. Don't talk about it dream about it. Don't look at it and then we get there and they show off these pictures. These are the live pictures that we shot out show floor. It's g wagon with a lot of extra spice going into that design. Work twenty two inch wheels. That kind of mano block adjacent grill. Yeah if you look at the grill. Chris you can pick up the picture. That has the the blue stuff in it. It's basically the screen screen. There's grill there. It's just a screen that lights up than it has that That sort of three d. effect going with the three pointed star. I i mean. I dig it. I'm trying to wait. Wait wait wait. I feel as though in twenty years. This is going to get mocked to lake the digital dashes of the nineteen nineties. Get mocked. am. I wrong hair no. I don't think you're wrong. i don't at all. I think you're totally wrong. Really this feels gimmicky is held on me. I don't think the concept car. The production car will have that for what it's hard i hope. Sure as hell hope not. Yeah people don't mock the dashes digital dashes from the ninety s. When did this start happening. I have done it before. I love them. But they're dying this you live in nineteen ninety-two so you would know exactly about honestly you could go either way either way y'all ninety two the now debris because i'm a little bit older than that they did previous some of the powertrain stuff with us. So it's going to have four electric motors very cool torque vector at each wheel this should off-road better than the gas geog and i don't care hate electric cars or not. This will be a monster. Offroad and it has a two speed gearbox to mimic a low range on the gas card which i think is very cool Now that he's on the back picture. You don't get a spare tire anymore. You get a little square compartment where you can start the charge cord. That's which is interesting. Because i realized that electric vehicles apparently will no longer need spare tires. Yes yeah sorry robbers rakes with alexa just plugging in the tire and interior. I don't think is near production. You can hear me. say that. Because no hyper screen. None of that crap. This is an actual g wagon that they just gussied up. Because that's still has the command system this card debuts in three years they're not gonna put a command system in no way while. It's something that you just said that it's important touch on. I mean this is a concept but mercedes they did say this is near production so it i mean the the ekg when it comes out. I mean it's it's gonna be fairly close to what we're seeing here. This is their baby. Geog is their baby. It's still going to go through all of the austria tests. That they put the g wagon through. They still wanted to be a monster road. I'm excited to see this production for him. I'll say that bruce you have the The standard mercedes media photos handy of invader zim as shake. Give you any sort of context on what they're up there. I do i do. I do those whole video when the car damage courses. Yes so those space aliens have names and it's going to be part of this big marketing campaign that they're doing those space aliens at explains his hair. I call them space aliens. That what the hell is that like. That's mercedes iron man standing next to the gar. That's that's for future world in the background. I just want to say like guys. Imagine getting off of a flight across the world with no sleep going straight to this event from the airport and they start showing this crap and they expect you to like not think your trip in. I mean these are some great bruce. The these will go into our classic autostrada. Blame automaker photos of of all. These are my press photos of the year. I will say that hands down. I can't think of anything that comes close to this stuff. Yeah i mean they certainly grab some attention with those with those media photos. But there's little. I look video that i shot there in person. Feel free to check it out. It gives you a quick run around of the exterior design of close. The the video is better in our article here. I'm and then you can also of course go to motor one com on on youtube where we have all of our first look videos and all of our other videos that That were doing. We're doing a lot more video work clinton's just nail it director video trying mugler my hair done on that one right now. Who has too much of me on screen. We should move on to something else. How 'bout g. a. m. g. s. That's exciting. They told us they told us that. we're talking about right now. I was talking about sorry. I was thinking. Okay sorry no. This is also difficult. I know we're probably going in circles of people. Listening are saying what the hell but there are going to be. Two cars mercedes. Benz lineup called e. q. S. the sale. Now they do the sedan. I guess technically hatchback beano the car is on sale now that e. q. Ass suv is going to be the g. l. s. but electrified so the biggest suv with batteries in it. Both called e. s. Let me let's be honest. The option was confusing people. A little bit with eek. Us suv or iki. Us and e. g. l. e. l. e. q. Us yeah i've no idea he. V l z yet. So we saw. This is the car so this is going to be fast version of the q. ass sedan. It's called e. q. Fifty three in europe. It's not an america. They next added just called a. m. g. e. s. It's not a sixty three because this car does not pass..

"Wonderful though. They did a great job with that car. Mean the economy is going to be great. I get to see along tra- end this weekend for the first time so end. Products from hyundai are very good. Don't don't get me wrong on that but civic type r has the best manual gearchange. I think i've ever felt a car. it has incredible breaks which the velocity doesn't have it as the brembos and i'm one of the few that likes the styling. Civic type bar touched an oath to go with your in. Clint to copy out mine. If i personally had to own it on civic type r below sir and you can get with that dual clutch which is phenomenal. And that's the thing. My wife can't drive a manual. If i actually had to put down the money and buy one as a married man below sir would be the one i would if it was just me out fourth door to it now would probably have to okay. So that was our comment. Section again Thank you very much for your comment smith. Did you have a comment. I'm sorry did you have one that you pulled out. We did get one on email that It's super long. But i i just wanna touch through it because it's something that we don't. We talked about last week a little bit of. We don't talk about much on the program. You're gonna edit that one yet. We were talking about camper vans and cool. Diy vans we. We were talking about like major buses. Yep the the sleds up. When i think we were talking about Saw this email comes in from jessica and just full disclosure when email pop data was like. Wait a minute. I recognize that name. This is actually a somebody that i know out here in south dakota so she says hi chris s and hello christopher b. Who haven't met. I finally got a chance to check out your podcast on the most recent episode. Great fun even though. I normally don't spend much time thinking about cars. See folks we are reaching everybody. That's really rambling about cars And jessica thanks much for sending this in wanted to tell you that idea wide. My hyundai santa fe into a mini camper for boondock and trips. I think that's him about this. All my work was reversible. My big dog. And i drove to rhode island's when he through new york city just out to dc dog. We'd love to see him. Yes we're all about dogs and all about dogs rambling about dogs. I have stayed at walmart.

"At the point of the press. Release where. I'm reading through the really really random stuff and i'm trying to like maybe something that we missed. Twenty eight percent increase in torsion rigidity. That's not a bad thing. That's thanks dinner. Platform here is a for you. You boys ready for this fun. Seventy five percent. Increase in suspension mounting. Point ridge yeah. I actually made a note of that. Designed okay well. I think about this though. I don't know how much i don't know how much time you guys have spent any aftermarket but like guys. The goal is to work for it and they'll put the put frame connectors under their car. They'll put the put strut mount braces. I i mean. I think i think those were kind of making a little fun here. But i think those those rigidity points. I think i think are valid. It's it's a thing to point out the new platform underneath those car. It makes me excited alone to drive it. And with a two hundred seventy one horsepower. Yeah sure i mean we could. We could always have a little bit more power. But i don't crucify out. Think you need to crucify subaru for not just blowing up the wrr. Chris keep your hopes up. Maybe they will surprise as the sti and give it nine hundred horsepower horsepower. I just want a respectable upgrade. The i don't need the the. Wrx has never had stupid amounts of power. But we've been saying the same thing about the z. That only got twenty year over forty horsepower. More that people are excited about that. It's not necessarily the power. It's actually aspirated. engine though. Like with a turbocharger. You expect more. I necessarily it's always. It's it's about the power band. Like i said i'm not even i'm not even joking here. I've i'm very interested to learn more. About how the new engine in the wrx stacks up to the oldest. In the way it's using its power I mean the we had the same thing. Go down with. If you remember what was it. How a couple of years ago with ford's ecoboost mustang with the performance pack or the like. Yeah we've got the engine out of the focus. Rs mustang now. It's like you doing all of this work. And all of this effort to make like five or ten more horsepower over the regular echo booze. Why don't you just put a cold air kid in two on the stand and the standard engine. Save a lot of money in. It's it's it's how that power is used that engine the irs engine had a different power band a goes to the ground. A little bit in that in turn affects the performance of the vehicle. I i respect that. And you know what i'll just like with chevy talking to smith. Hey subaru you guys wanna talk to me you wanna send me on the wrx drive and prove me wrong. Let's go. i'm fine with that but let's let's get to some questions of last week's episode. Because i think we've kind of exhausted. This i think we have. This is all brand new brand new information. The silverado the subaru. We did have some. We did some comments To talk about from last week and we have some emails. Do you wanna start bruce. I do so. I want to start with one that came in via email. And you know what i. I didn't lose it. Ha this is from our buddy jo di. He came up with actually a really good comment on our youtube. That i want to expand into a full topic at some point smith where he wants us against the original vehicle and the vehicle that revived it. So the first one that came to my mind was beat overseas new beetle That late mid nineties late nineties camaro versus revived camera. Stuff like that But we kind of don't have enough time for that tonight since we have three of us. Joe zaia also sent this question and it's just fun it's quick. You guys have to pick one of these. I'm gonna go lasts for mall. Since i'm the one asking so clint smith so you get to pick one of these vehicles or the other. So ferrari four eighty eight or lamborghini. Her on for eighty-eight oricon also hurricane. Wrong now right along. Ferraris prestigious lamborghini is just way to saudi. But that's just me okay. tesla model s platt. Porsche tycoon turbo turbo. Also tight turbo. Everybody can taikang kaikan ticon. I had that beaten into my head at the debut. All that's all right you you were at the debuts in front of niagara falls yes i remember that everyone agrees icon turbo okay mclaren f one ferrari enzo f f. One also f. one okay. That one wasn't hard for me. I was delayed. Because i'm jet lagged or gt re mac navarra or navarra. I'm not sure how you say it remax. Yeah you're right gt now. I'd have that routes. I'll i'll take the gt. Hell no that this new electric that. Oh my god. I'm so intrigued by dot car. It's epic in every way possible. I'm not thinking. In terms of sheer performance. I decided gt. That's going to be the end of an era. i'll take the end of the era mercedes and g. g. t. or mclaren seven twenty s mclaren's. I'm all day long mclaren. Angels though the mclaren was the first car to ever properly scare me and i mean if you want to be scared in a car i guess cool man i i kinda wanna enjoy my time. The seven twenty s was a car where i thought every single aspect of this car is better than i am and you have to respect it. Accordingly you also rev it in the whole car shakes when you read the engine. That thing has so special. it's so an end to go back to the first one. I'd have the mclaren over that ferrari and the oricon as well that's awesome. My neighbor has a pickup truck that shakes when jeff. Okay wait we gotta go through this quick because we have a lot of second mazda miata honda s two thousand. Sds two thousand also two thousand easing all done Reseda spends g class bentley. bentayga bentayga what. I don't like it fuss. I've met a notorious g-class hater dump the button. "I can't say they didn't specify that those are the same screens but the fact that the sizes are the same suggests me. those are the same screens. yeah i think they. They must be. And i think that's running the new generation of infotainment for them which is a big deal and that's going to really modernize things and probably improve processing speeds and all that too so i told you right before we started the podcast. I cannot believe that the chevy tahoe and suburban missed the boat without that infotainment setup. But because they're such high profile high selling cars for them. But i guess they need to make a statement to and putting into silverado. I is in a bad way to do that. And the other thing worth their while to other things worth noting trucks with the bucket seats like you're seeing here. They get this new electronic shift by wire gearshift and the high country which is the range topping model. They get all of this open poor. Would that you're seeing soon. I mean they're they're definitely trying to aim the bar little bit higher ever since ram came out with their current generation. I mean i think that raise the bar of everybody else and then four to respond now. Finally chevrolet is responding with the silverado But i don't know guys. My my father is going to hate this. Because he's had silverados for several years and he really likes his but i mean it's still number three on my list. There might even be number four beneath toyota. In fact it's definitely number four beneath toyota as far as full-sized trucks i would take despite their best efforts with this with this new offering. It's just i. I'm still not happy with the front end. Look it just kinda has sort of the. i mean. it doesn't have quite the same broiler pan grill that my wife used to call it when it first came out. It's like a list. Look broiler and he put it in the oven. This kind of just just very very awkward in in your face The styling here is a little bit better but it still just it looks. It looks both awkward. And like it's trying too hard at the same time in my in my mind but with the toyota. You just mentioned doesn't have that we're showing here. Is that the high country which is again. The range topping model it will be available with optional. Chevy's Advanced driving system. Subaru's thank you. It's just fun to say it is. It is super cruise. So you will be able to get super crews on the range topping model as an option and that will actually come with a trailing system that will be able to figure out how much mass your trailer ways behind you and we'll be able to adapt braking distances. It will also have an oscillation system that if your your trailer starts to sway back and forth it will be able advise the driver and tell them to take control because apparently super fruits isn't smart enough to do that. But this is the first truck to have supercrew. So that's a new piece at tap unless i'm mistaken in the escalate has that but i'm not certain that it does because i think you can tell with an escalator is going to have that upgrade. We covered that Sharing announced it like a month or so six weeks months or month or so ago We also already know because of that. Same announcement the gmc. Sierra is going to have the same tack once that's refreshed debuts. It just cracks me up that we saw suv occurs a couple of years ago. We got the test that this is fantastic. This is a nice really industry leading or at least on par with industry leading kit and nothing in the last model year had hit. They put it to sleep and then revived it with the escalate. But it's amazing to me that entr. Gm farm they have this wonderful attack and then they put it to sleep another just starting to roll it out widespread in the lineup. It is cool that you can tow it now too because you know when you talk about your escalade your silverado. Sierra stuff like that those are vehicles that a lotta people are telling with them and so being able to have that functionality an have your super cruise. That's free cool agree. Four ford is rolling out blue. Crews they're starting to These acronyms in these names are gonna get a lot. Funnier beheaded another future my friends but they're ready to get ready to cruise in as many different ways as you can. I am i showing my age. Here in saying that i'm not comfortable super cruising while towing a trailer i do. I just feel like that requires a lot more attention behind the wheel. It's i mean if you're i voted untold trailers. I mean. of course. I think i generally try to pay more attention than on a lot of people on the road. Arrogant and saying that But why be. When i'm telling a trailer or in a bigger vehicle i'm just i'm paying more attention. I'm not. I'm comfortable. But i'm not relaxed. If you understand what. I'm saying. I feel like i feel like we super crews towing a trailer. It would just be very easy to kinda zone. Forget your toy freaking house behind you and then see super cruise. it's just was s it. Let's see how it does. But i mean we can't. We can vouch for how well the software works. it's end the hardware. I guess the whole system. When i got to do it on the highway for a little bit and it is true hands off when appropriate and it starts to tell you one is no longer handoffs. I mean it does those things the right way. So i believe in this system. They did a great job of it. So i'm not sure if the ford system actually mentioned anything about telling that something i have to look up. I don't think it does. I haven't heard that i. yeah. I don't know right now the same with blue crew's whether you can tell with it so that's a good point and also smith. The thing is a chevy. If you're listening. Invite smith on whatever drive you guys are doing pursue convince me and show him 'cause you know he'll come on the podcast and tell us. Oh yeah. i'll find a car that let's see south dakota. I'll find a cool car over like in virginia. Maybe thirty five hundred dollar show. But i'll pick up a no wait if it's gonna be chevy A c. three corvette project car. I'll go. I'll go across the way pick it up. We'll tow it with a new silverado super crews and i'll determine if it's smarter than i am horse it smarter than i am but Technology the last big upgrade for the silverado is involves two of its engines so the base two point seven liter turbocharged four cylinder. It now makes four hundred twenty pound feet of torque. It made three hundred forty eight hundred feet before..

"Launches a bunch of new electric cars chevrolet launches a new silverado and we launching the diatribes about all of them and later on. We're also gonna talk about some future exciting stuff that's going to be going on the podcast. So stay tuned for that fanatic fans. It is podcast time. i'm. Christopher smith crossed the ways chris bruce. And there's another person in the house today. Yeah we have. Clint simoni with us again. You guys let sides to let me in. You didn't lock the door this time around. No we forgot their locks on the doors canal. Not as far as i can tell you just kick the white open boy could get dicey. Let's get this show on the road so as we're recording right now. Technically the i two things were be talking about are still under embargo So news yeah. We know more than you do but So let's get this show started and we will talk about the refresh. Twenty twenty two chevrolet silverado. I want to stop you for a second bruce. Do we really know more than they do right now. Because we're kind of getting this. I mean this info is like coming to us pretty fresh today. It's a it's a couple of days ahead of everybody else is gonna learn. It hasn't leaked anywhere from what i've seen. Either i mean. I mean i i know bruce has all the info because he already he wrote about silverado. I attended the background. I wrote up our story. It's all as you can see here. It's all set to go But as of right now yeah. It's still technically under embargo. So we'll get this thing started can can stay that way because look at what's better. No actually let's let's let's. Let's give our listeners here. A little a little dope about what's going on. Tell them what's new new chevrolet silverado. It's refreshed four. Twenty twenty two bruce. Tell us all about a man so all models basically get a new front facial and a little bit of a new grille thank god but really. The upgrades are for the lt trim and above The big news is that there's a new jersey to model and Chevy is positioning that as their flagship off road silverado It is don't kinda. Get your hopes up. This is not a raptor. This is not a ram trx. It still gets the six point two liter. V eight naturally aspirated that are in other versions of the silverado. So you get four hundred twenty horsepower. Four hundred sixty pounds of torque. But you know some you know it's weird to say that four hundred twenty horsepower in the modern world up kind of performance. Pickup is impressive. Because that's still a healthy number but you do get Forty millimeter diameter multi-ethnic d. s. v. i. Dampers you Springs that allow for extra wheel travel at the front and back you get front and rear eli lockers and you get kind of a modified body different bumpers that allow four and improved approach and departure ankle. So if they're not going for raptor it kind of sounds like they're trying to go for raptor or or at least they're trying to build something that people might say instead of rafter. I'll get this. I mean you were because you were on the backgrounder you tell us. That question came up. Didn't it did see someone specifically asked. Does this compete against the raptors. Trx end chevy. They the people that were speaking. They kind of pooh-poohed that they were like no. This is its own thing. This is a medical works well off road but is also works well on road. That's because they know we wanna do comparison tests with the trucks and this thing would probably be taken out to lunch but they also chevy hasn't had a seat at this table. They haven't had a raptor competitor. They haven't had a trx so they put together an offered trim and they say this is the closest you're gonna get for a while good luck. I'm sure they can shove a bigger engine in this. Where would they source. That engine from you guys are smarter than i am with this. You don't need a bigger engine in this the raptors four hundred and fifty horse power. This was what i'm sorry. This is this is four twenty. I mean this is celeste. Yeah i mean that segments aside from the ramp people that are just obsessed. Yeah i mean. That's gobs a power and they're more interested in the kind of early off aspect you don't need. You don't need to be pumping a lot of horsepower into ziara to to make it a raptor fighter. You just need to upgrade the suspension which some some beefier tires which they did already three inch mud terrain tires on eighteen inch wheels. I mean i don't understand why they're a little gun shy. Unless clint like you said it's just yeah they upgraded the suspension. But it still just not quite the same level but it isn't there their bureau footage floating around now. There is unfortunately because of the embargo and because of our site. I can't show it yet right. I don't have. I can't show it yet. But but but they're they're basically comparing it to some of their efforts which Where have we heard that before. Raptor i just so. I'm not offroad geek. That's going to be really excited about all the kit. I'm more excited that they've brought the interior to a point where it can compete with the other trucks in its segment. These are big changes. Remember like we've been driving off for the last few years the infotainment was about yea big and it was felt completely behind the times you get into an f. One fifty or any new ram and they feel sensational. They feel like luxury products and the silverado. As far and away behind. But they took the infotainment. And really really beefed up and you can see the little thing on the steering wheel. Super cruise is finally here. Yeah so i'll say it looks much better inside than outside. I mean i'll give him credit there and so clinton raises some very good points. So on the lt tram and above. So that's your l. That's your news. Er to your high country stuff like that you are getting a new Kind of a completely new digital instrument cluster and digital Infotainment screen that even see here. The looking at the numbers now. The instrument cluster measures. Sorry i believe it's twelve point. Four twelve point three inches and the infotainment is thirteen. Thirteen point four inches. Both of those diagonal and if those numbers sound familiar those are the exact same figures that the new hummer evey are going is going to have..

If they're gonna allow Spectators at those events, any Spectators, Japan is trying to tamp down a wave of infections and they're talking. About. They don't not want to have mass gatherings with cheering fans. Public opinion is already against holding those Olympic Games at all to starting July, but they're working maybe towards a zero spectator Olympic Games coming up. If you are choosing violence, you probably shouldn't choose to. Do it on the 91 these days because it is saturated with CHP officers because of the Oh, I don't know 80 different shootings that have been going on in and around the 91. The latest was about 10 42 Saturday night. Chevy Silverado headed west on the 91 Freeway, just west, just east of Adam's gunshots were fired from a nearby Burgundy Honda with a driver and a passenger inside, the driver of the Chevy was able to get off the freeway McKinley Street for help from the highway Patrol. He said He saw the handguns muzzle flash and he heard the gunshots but did not know if the bullets hit his car. He wasn't able to get a license plate. On that on that Honda, but they were able to find the Honda quickly. Yeah, they pulled that thing over further down on the 91. They found a loaded nine millimeter. Loose Amma. One use Shell casing also found during a search of that car driver and passenger questioned after an investigation. They determined that the driver was the one responsible for the shooting. They don't believe that this was connected to the recent rash of freeway shootings involving both handguns and possible BB or pellet guns. Though this was isolated incident Friday, about this time we started getting word of a shooting on the 55 freeway down in orange. And it was more serious than any of the others. I mean up to that point last week, we talked about people with their windows being blown out. In this case, there was a child that had to be airlifted from the side of the freeway. And we now know exactly what happened. I have a really hard time. Um She obviously has a opportunity or a right to be heard if she wants to talk to the media about what happened. I just have a hard time with, you know. National news organizations running in getting an interview with this woman, I just don't know how I don't know how you would say anything I don't know either could speak, but it feels kind of like, I don't know. It feels distasteful. You know, I can understand when they're trying to get the word out locally about who did this and all of that, but that every all these media outlets are running to her trying to get an interview. After her six year old son was shot and killed while she's driving the car. I don't know. She was on the North bound 55 between the 22 Chapman said she was driving Joanna Cloonan, his mom's name. She was driving eight into school about eight o'clock Friday morning when a white Volkswagen with a female driver and a male passenger cut her off and she said as I was merging away from the car pool Lane. I heard a loud noise. I heard my son say how and I pulled over as soon as possible and he had been shot. I tried to save him by calling 911 but he was losing a lot of blood. He didn't deserve that. No one deserves that. This is what she said on Saturday. This is not okay whatever. And whoever these people are and for whatever reason. This is not okay should never happen again. So whatever.
"silverado" Discussed on EV News Daily - Electric Car Podcast
"The tests the cyber truck and reveal with the i won t and the s the suv. But we're talking about trucks today The new electric silverado will not be a modified version of the gas and diesel versions with batteries. Kind of tucked the places. Instead it'll be engineered from the ground up as an only truck and that's great news because it's the way to make a really really good. Ev a blank sheet of paper. And start with what you need. The battery the electron ix the motors converters. And things like that. It's the best way to make an any of course you can do it. You can have platforms have space for either at engine or a plug in hybrid electric powertrains but inevitably that consequences whilst it can be done. I think the best way to do it blank. Sheet of paper. It uses the same technology the ltm cells though it used to be the name they gave that batteries but increasingly they calling the kind of power train. Everything like the platform the altium vehicle engineering. That will be underneath things. Like the gmc hummer ebay. The cadillac lyric now. The company didn't immediately say when the silverado will finally be on sale. Gm's president muck said. Yesterday the company will make a commercial fleet focused version of the silverado again. All electric gm's been teasing this vehicle for a while now but now it's confirmed previously saying that it may not release pick up until the middle of the decade hadn't officially announced. The truck was coming until yesterday. According to the verge who say the electric silverado will be made at factory zero now. Factory zero is the name given to the recently rebranded. Detroit hamtramck plants dedicated to vs and The 'cause the gm is currently retooling costing about two billion to retool plant. It's the same one where gm's building the hulme. Suv and pick up the silverado as important gm because it's currently selling versions of the truck. The missing a microchip that helps improve fuel economy. Thanks to the global semiconductor shortage. It's that important to get these vehicles out of the dole an- with customers like the ford f one fifty. It is just a money making machine these trucks so important to these comedy because truck makers really when they make electric versions it just absolutely must nail it and be right. Shares of gm closed a new record yesterday on tuesday off. They confirmed plans for the all electric new silverado previously being the big investments in the next generation of av says. Cnbc thirty new. Ev's globally by twenty twenty five locos china as well but gm will have thirteen new full electric cars by twenty twenty-five spending twenty seven billion dollars in electric and they were going through their autonomous technologies in that budget as well the company plans to sell at least a million annually by twenty five which is a big target and almost a standing at the moment or as good as so big job to do their gm. If i get to do it there's some good things coming out of. Gm like why see this. Been some confusing things like they're they're intense to partner with nikola. Nikola motor took about how well the hydrogen stuff is amazing. Then weeks later. That whole kind of thing fell apart and you know what is nikola now. So they've made some questionable decisions which makes me cautious just tapping the brake pedal a little bit in my them for what they're doing as always. We wish everyone the best. Let's get these causal on the road game reviewed and let's see what they're like but now making all the right noises at least of course. There are plenty of companies who actually have got on the road. One of those pollstar volvos sporty bit of their electric and it has the pure electric all-star to its lineup. The post on one was a hybrid combustion and battery affair. It's about as close to rival the to a tesla model three performances. We've got on the market at the moment and that could be changing though with a new aggressive performance version of the pollstar to. Is this. what we've seen in the ceo of post to my single life posted on his instagram page. Some pictures of the pulse dots. Who and one of them. Well let's look a body k. on it or it's been choon because it's definitely sitting lower than the car. The dates next to the front grill looks different as well. The wheels different. The wheels borrowed from upholsterer. One the front bumper is different. The lower pies painted body color. The plastic cladding around the wheel arches. That's also in body color as well. The black wheels that visibly lower ride height does this. All say it's going to be a more aggressive pollstar to coming into the market. No announcement just putting two and two together and maybe getting five. We'll wait and see it would be about the right timing for that call to come onto the market to highlights. Early adopters buys get it. Get dot com and now they come with maybe a new version or an updated sportier version with a bit more performance. Now they've learned about the car they can eke out a little bit more performance of the battery and the motors. We'll have to wait and see. Vw had that power day a couple of weeks ago and during the event and in march of said it was moving ahead at ensuring. That's all of its emmy be based calls as the platform and that is the underpinnings of the car is not one single bowl that you plunk body on topic you can get longer and chaucer and it's modular but it is the basis of the engineering for all of their cars all fully electric all from the ground up. That next year is going vehicle to grid which sounds amazing. I have some questions. Let's work out Vocal said it was moving ahead with vita g and bidirectional battery charging technology. Now it's official official at the the power day in an interview yesterday with handles blast. Volkswagen board member tomas oberg said the test vehicles running. We are in the lost face of preparations and quite now clean. Technica said the beginning january next year every every electric car from the volkswagen group that uses this platform so audi with the q four h. On skoda with the any act and more say at with the coupe rura l. bone. No it's elbow simply boom mccoubrey born like the elbow nine but the court of l. a. They will not be able to charge. Obviously levi's do from the grid but put energy back on great as well over explained that expanded business models relating to the battery a one component of a much more fundamental change in the automotive industry triggered by falcons as itself monetize all of that stored electricity making it to utility companies and grid operators. How balance the great. Some of the income would go to owners of the cars says this article now. Handelsblatt said in the final analysis. The comic is may have the upper hand when it comes to battery storage. They provide the warranty coverage for those batteries. And goodness no we. We want a good warranty on area vase because if the battery goes wrong. That's an expensive thing to fix but comic is going to just those warranties to favor the use of their own network. So what do you think of this a couple of things. That weren't clear when they said that the platform is going to great. What does that mean there are caused that you can get battery that you can get out of the battery. The home to a will poll two point. Something kilowatts gonna plug socket in the front where guests would be between the driver and passenger. The ionic five coming from hyundai will three point something kilowatts like three point. Five six kilowatts is go to plukett plug sockets on one inside one outside same for the The six from kia. The hummer is coming from the gm. And that's going to have a six kilowatt ability to power so is that what gm talking about all gm talking about. We're going to plug on the you can if you go camping or you go to work and you wanna plug in a tool or you wanna plug in something that you can. They will enable that cars to have a domestic plug socket on like that is one interpretation of the phrase vehicle to grid Hyundai cola vehicle to load will be too l. Is it that all our what volkswagen talking about him. A much more beefy. If you like. V two g connection. And that's the thing that despite all my research. I just can't find a definitive answer. It seems to me that what they're suggesting. Is that second option that your cows. We'll be part of a bigger ecosystem. Where if you have sixty hour battery you say hey look. Thirty of is available to the local energy company. Or whatever in order to use it when the grid is expensive and tia and then we'll recharge overnight. Just make sure that. When i leave for work tomorrow morning go eighty percent or ninety percent or certain mileage. That is in theory berlin the execution of it is fabulously hard to get right now. Won a harry a one country around the world with different regulations and power grids etc. So we'll wait and see it's easy up because it's being done right now plucky on your car and call your vehicle to grid and that would be it would be a big step and that is where i see those two big companies that being tessler and vw on a fundamental level elon. Musk has talked about a battery day. How he doesn't believe in vical to grade from cows cows use energy. There are big energy store but you don't feedback into the grid is something that he's mentioned countless times. Almost how he's got no interest in vehicle to great. Of course high tessler will sell you a big battery for your house and these days you even by the battery you gotta by with sola. So yeah tesla will be involved in that side of it. But i will you about tree house whereas volkswagen talking very much about how calls will become integrated into energy lives in terms of hating our homes when it's cold and and cooling them when it's warm supporting national grid's enabling more efficient use of energy storing renewables talking about all these lofty goals that if they can achieve it if vw can be part of our life just life energy usage on the planet. Well that puts them in a whole different league kind of type of company but like i say fabulously hard to get right this one. I'm going to watch really really closely next. Sales of nissan z power vehicles have surpassed for million in japan nissan announced the cumulative sales of vehicles with a power powertrains supposed five hundred thousand units at the end of march e. power systems use a petrol engine to generate electricity for charging a tiddly. Tiny battery then is used to power. An electric motor. The car is any of a move to buy the electric motor. It's why innocents marketing over here and they started to launch this technology recently They called it like one hundred percent electric power driven and just go absolutely killed on social media. Just hundred people going No it's a petrol powered car. There's no plug sake on it yes. There's an electric motor driving the wheels. But it's not an easy anyway. Miss say it delivers ev. Like excitements quietness and smooth acceleration. Bus with the confidence of having a field they say without the need to plug in and recharge and this is where once again. I've got two years on this podcast. It's an impossible situation for these companies. Like toyota who had an only move advantage with hybrid technology nissan of this pretty good technology. The uses an efficient petrol. Engine generator charges a small battery. So these companies can't get batteries. The world is battery supply constrained. So what do you do if you get batteries. But you've got all these factories that can make engines. Well an engine to charge a small battery like one or two kilowatt hours powered electric motor cooler navy battle confuse everybody bingo bango. They make a lot of money but the problem is with a pal. It's just not an av because there's no plug sake on it. So if you want the carter move you've got to drive it to a petrol station and then the minute you do that you burning stuff and then we pump out of exhausts at the high of babies in pushchairs let me push kids around exhaust heights and wonder why they've got asthma and people are dying of lung disease. They push this technology. Because it's it's what they've got to make money with. The problem is again this with the leaf. They've backed away from saying. Hey we're going to be an all electric company. We lead the well to some of those say that world leaders in innovative technology but that pushing e power in february this year they launched the nissan cashkaro great little vehicle big seller with this power technology following their mild hybrid models. It's not electric power it's combustion technology and it's dirty and we can't carry on doing it. It's the impossible situation for these companies. They talk about how great visa but then they sell you a petrol car and they talk about. Well why would you buy a petro com o because of the convenience of not plugging in and the the confidence of having a fuel tank but in the same way they have to then sell you. Electric car like the lethal the new area. Well why would i buy the you just told me the plugging in a hassle and the petrol gives me confidence and now you want me to buy the area. Well which one is. It can't be both these companies again themselves. Twisted up and i just wish they'd go all in on a vase. Nothing i can do apart from make this little show educate people around the world about ev. Technology don't get sucked in by buying what do not let your friends and family by one of these. It's not if they think that. Buying an navy to patrol car by leaf instead great elka and price reductions for both versions the forty and the sixty two kilowatt hour version of the leaf have been announced to ensure that the qualifies under the threshold of our plugging. Cobb ground the money off the car. Here in the u. k. must have been revised now going to be below thirty five grants to access it Pricing now starts at twenty six thousand pounds on the road says fleet news and actually loads of other companies that have revised their pricing down on the only ones with the leaf per joke that it with e two eight the eight to eight apoyo followed vauxhall in reducing the price of its maka and varo a sta landis reduce ciccio brand pricing of the full. Bmw did it with the i ss. Well we'll coming onto thirty five grand to make sure you get the extra two and a half thousand pounds a free government money off. Don't buy power go and test drive a leaf all white for the new area much better than this sounds than this terrible piston technology that they're gonna try and hawk for a little bit longer but then get out. Okay a couple more stories in the av registrations continue that rise new car. Registrations grew for the first time since august last year but remained way down year on year because yes cove and the shift to new technologies continues with plug in vehicle demand reaching its highest ever volume in the month of march here in the uk awesome knees battery electric vehicles and plug in hybrids took a combined market share fourteen percent up from seven percent this time last year the number of models available to customers increased to a hundred and sixteen different cars and models available on the market with plug socket on registrations of pure electric cars because we cabin more about those increased eight percent to twenty two thousand units and finally in the us. This is just a room but we'll bug it in the show at the end to. Us federal government is currently looking to include a ramp-up of investments and electric occasion as part of the infrastructure jobs plan. It's unclear how the money is going to be spent but says electric The wedbush analyst. Dan lives one of the big analysts that follows the v. wells says the rimma flying around washington now is the incentive is coming back the tax credit for those that have lost it so gm and also tesla but the incentive be ten grand to ten thousand dollars of next year's tax bill the tax credit could be returning which would be enormous for tesla's there are about to bring out the cyber truck and the model why is has had it stride as well. That would be huge. News is of course. It's still applies to anyone. Else selling ebay. Bwi eighty four and hyundai and kia etcetera. But they haven't lost it. GM going electric
"Starting things off talking about general motors engines. And the reason we're doing that are two very interesting in pieces of news. We've got Last week gm announced that as of twenty thirty five th they are going to stop offering internal combustion engines in their light cars so basically you might still be able to get a va in your silverado. Twenty five hundred or something like that but vast majority of their vehicles probably even performance stuff like your corvette if the camaro still around then those are all going to be e vs or maybe plug in hybrids but basically gas a purely gas powered engines are not in their future and so i wrote up the road up the story last week and it really got my gear. Spit on that. You know g. m. is one of the oldest auto makers in the world nerd. They've got over one hundred years of history and there are some absolutely fantastic internal combustion engines in that town at also. Interestingly this week. I'm this is a story that you wrote about it is at you know. Cadillac announced that the new cto four. V black-wing c. T. v. black wing. Those are going to be the last v models from cadillac with internal combustion engines and so it really seems like gm serious about this at least for right now So yeah it's it's a weird time. Jim anything to add about the cadillac part of that. Well i mean yes. And no. I guess the bigger question is whether or not gm can actually pull this off than our commenters brought up as well as you know. Twenty thirty is a long time and time away make makes promises that doesn't necessarily keep so they they sometimes don't always follow through most of the all of the time. Maybe i i. I don't wanna sound too harsh on gm. Because i mean they're they're they're going forward and and i mean frankly they have to go for it right. The whole industry is moving in that direction. And we're we're faced with a gm lineup right. Now that is pretty much almost completely devoid of any electrification Damning they have some Just wanted just a couple of vehicles right off the top of my head. Of course they've got the the gmc hummer okay. i. I don't know if a hundred and ten thousand dollar luxury electric pickup truck is really going to be the the mainstream savior but yeah fourteen. Years can get there and cadillac. I mean these These amazing looking sports sedans. That's going to be the the end
Alive: The Drew Robinson Story
"Jeff where does the story of drew robinson began. The story. Drew robinson begins on magic moment lane in las vegas jeff passan is in mlb insider for espn and his work on the story of drew robinson is up now on espn plus it was just all those those little tiny amazing details down to the name of the street that he grew up on that drew me to him. As a person has a character and his story and he was precocious. What's the first thing people think about you guffaw. I did my best to try to lighten the situation with people. I tried to make people laugh. And i thought that i was good at that. He was the kid youngest of three children who would go next door and sneak through his neighbors doggy door and steal their treats so he could bring him back to this menagerie of animals that he had in his house. There were dogs that were cats. They had a pet in a cage and drew is the kid who would tape his feet to a bicycle and go on a trampoline in his backyard and just bounce around without any care his sister brittany used to hate having him around because drew would take off all of his clothes. Run outside and start riding a bike and her friends would say your brothers naked again. He was also an incredible baseball player and from a very young age even though he wasn't big even though he wasn't strong he had the actions. That coaches look at. And say this kid ever fills out. He is going to be something else but when drew was at that age where he needed to tell his feelings to someone where where he needed to explain that he had this. Lingering doubt in his mind that would never go away regardless of the situation. Whether it was with baseball whether it was with school with friends with family there is always something air pushing him toward this negativity that he just could not escape from can think back to. When i was twelve years old playing little league. I was a kid every single time i struck out i would come in and slam. My bad slammed my helmet kreil time. Because i thought that i had to be perfect in every aspect of my life in terms of the scouting report on drew robinson war his best attributes. He had a lot of power. you know. he's left handed hitter. He ended up hitting that growth spurt. Six foot one hundred ninety pounds. Just a beautiful swing gap the gap power. That was gonna grow into something more if his body filled out and when it did man like he was an actual prospect. I fly all get to right field at that splashdown run for drew. Robinson being a prospect in las vegas in two thousand ten pablo was no small thing. There was a player who had left high school and gone to play junior college ball named bryce harper. Yup and there was a player at bonanza high school. One of the rivals of silverado were drew named kris bryant. So this was a pretty historic high school class and drew wound up making all state. Shortstop and teams were really intrigued. Not just by the power but by his versatility to he played shortstop but they thought he projected his second baseman third baseman. Maybe an outfielder. The possibilities of what drew robinson could be as a baseball player were endless. So scouts were noticing the power versatility and in two thousand ten drew graduates from high school and get drafted. He gets drafted by the texas rangers in the fourth round. And it's a huge moment for him but it doesn't translate in the end jeff too. Big league play what happens. Well he took a while to get to the big leagues. And you know we've seen bull durham and we understand kind of on a surface level. What the minor leagues are like. But for drew it was truly agree. I knew i was beard. Don't get me wrong. But in the moment i was still like. Don't mess this up. I wouldn't allow myself to understand. That mistakes are just mistakes. It doesn't define who. I was
