But listen, you know you don't want to be the Chicago Bears the last time they've had a quarterback with Sid Luckman in the 19 forties. I love the Bears bashing days. "Nearly as excited should be for this segment, giving the content that were About bad idea. I'm sorry. I need to turn it up a notch. We're gonna talk about the NFL, and we're going to go to Chicago because rookie minicamp has now wrapped up for the weekend, and that means Justin Fields. Made his first appearance on the football field at Halas Hall, the Bears practice facility. This is Game day on ESPN radio Shane Jordan Cornett here with you were presented by progressive insurance and all guests join us on the Goodyear hotline. That's what we're going right now. Because we're going to talk to our dear friend David Caplan. He's the host on ESPN. 1000 the morning drive there in Chicago has got the pulse on all things Chicago sports related and has for the past. I don't know how many decades not to aid you, cap. I'm sorry. But Jordan I hosted with Captain We're in Chicago. So we have a very good relationship with him and capsule. I know you called me after the Bears drafted Justin Fields, and you told me this and I'm interested to see if this is still how you feel. Drafting Justin Fields was the biggest sports accomplishment in Chicago since the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. Do you still feel that way? Yes. And anyone that disagrees with it. I think they're out of their mind on. First of all, it is such an honor to be on with you guys. I told your great producer If it was Jordan calling, I'd be like, No, I'm hanging out this afternoon for Shay all in 100% Get in line, man. You would everybody that we work with at ESPN feels the same boy. Take that Jordan cap. It is It is interesting, but that kind of sets the table. For what? Justin Fields in this draft means to Chicago bear fandom and what it means to the franchise. I always laugh with Shane anytime the Bears are on national television. There's a mention within the first five minutes of the broadcast of Sid Luckman, and it speaks to the struggles of the Bears of the quarterback position since the 19 forties, So there's a lot of expectation coming in with fields. Just how thirsty is the fan base? For a guy like Justin Fields to come in and be good in a position that has failed the Bears for so long. Thirsty like Tom Hanks and cast away. I mean, it's literally insane. I'll tell you a quick story. There's a breakfast place by my house that I go eat at 34 times a week after I get off the air. I walk in there a couple weeks ago, and there's an older gentleman and two older ladies sitting at the table. Turns out it's this guy, his wife and her sister. I don't know who they are. I walk in and he turns to go take cap. Thanks for mentioning my dad on your show today. I said, Who's your dad? Good luck, then. Good luck, kid. That's the last time the Bears had a franchise quarterback, and he retired in 1956 or seven. That's how Awful. Quarterback play has been in this city, and that's why the drafting of Justin Fields. There's a really good article, the athletic wrote. Adam Johnson took you inside the room the day the deal was made, and it was incredible to read that they had all these calls out there, and they called Detroit of seven, and they called Carolina date. They called Denver at nine and Dallas 10. And nobody wanted to trade their pick for the Bears thought. Oh, boy, We're probably screw to get the kid we want. They have been lusting after Justin Field and All of a sudden out. Philly trades up with Dallas and the bear start. They've only got Jalen hurts. Oh, they're taking our guy. And when they took Devante Smith They went insane in the Chicago War room because they had already agreed to the deal with the Giants. And so they just had to make the phone call. Go. Okay, we're in and the giant said, Yep. Good to go. We'll make the deal and so they were able to land what they believe. Is gonna be the best quarterback in the history of the franchise. I mean, that's a lot to put on a guy who hasn't thrown a pass for the Chicago Bears yet, but good on you guys. You know, I root for the Bears because I'm married to a diehard bears fan native Chicago and I'm a native of Cincinnati but spent 15 years in Chicago. Some of Bangles guy, you know that cap it and I've seen Andy Dalton at his best, which is pretty good. And I've seen the rest of Andy Dalton, which is kind of what you saw in Dallas this past season, But you guys gave him $10 million before fields got drafted and that anti dog sat up there for the Chicago media said I can't wait to be the guy. So I ask you this just in field. You talk about him being the best bear best quarterback the Bears have ever had. Andy Dalton's. They're slated to be the number one Does Justin Fields start week one. And should he start week one. Um okay. Here's how I would answer that. I think that the Bears showed you tremendous communication that talk to Andy Dalton twice. The day of the draft once before the draft and once after the draft and reiterated him We're not handing this kid a job. You were coming in his number one on the depth chart, And I think if you look at the depth chart today, Nick Foles is number two. Justin Fields is number three, and that's how it should be. But they also have made it clear that if he goes to camp And much like with Russell Wilson was drafted the same offseason that the Seahawks signed Matt Flynn to a $37 million deal and he never started a game for them. If you beat this guy out, Justin, you're gonna play man. So come in, ready to go, and you know it's interesting. There's mats system comes from Andy Reid. It's the most complex offensive system in the National Football League. Alex Miss it. It took five years before I really felt like I had mastered every single part of it. And just it feels took an aptitude test. 6500 athletes and 2012 have taken this attitude that 6500 men, women, multiple sports. Just the field scored number one number one in attitude, so he feels like he's ready to go and his comments to the media of the day when they said You've never been here. Do you have any idea what it's like? Maybe the Bears quarterback and the pressure and he looked. He went. I went to Ohio State. I'm built for this. Yeah, that's good. Talking to David Kaplan of ESPN 1000 in Chicago, Jordan. I both worked with him in Chicago. Great. Really should be. Does the morning drive there? One of us has a better relationship with him and the other, But okay, that sounds weird. Why would you say that? Okay. Cap. Anyways, many mock drafts had the Bear's taking Kevin Jenkins and 20 before they decided to trade up the Giants and go And get Justin Fields. Instead, they still ended up getting Jenkins in the second round. Do you have any inkling of how he's looking the expectations for him?.

"The host of Cage's in the morning at ESPN Radio talk about what the Bears could do here the draft. Let's get a take on that With Jeff Dickerson, ESPN NFL They should Bears reporter Our good friend Jeff. Thanks so much for being with us. You heard key there in the rejoin about what they're going to do. What do you expect them to do? They do have the 20th overall pick which would lead you to believe they had a really good season last year. I'm not sure that was necessarily the case. Definitely not the case, guys great to be with you. If we were doing a draft show and like 1961, you could still this quarterback as the big need for the Bears. It has been a position that they have not solidified since Hall of Fame for Sid Luckman retired. In 19 fifties, so obviously they would love to get up and get one of these top five quarterbacks. I don't know what number 20 if that's realistic if they stay at 20 It is a pretty good draft for offensive tackles for wide receivers and for corners. I could see those three positions all three of need for the bears being on their to do list. Think of those three. I would say Finding a right tackle. A 20 would maybe be the best move because they released body Massey, their veteran right tackle in the off season. It is a big, glaring need s so maybe someone like Kevin Jenkins from Oklahoma State, but certainly Corner wide receiver tackle. I think unless the Bears, you know, pull the rabbit out of the hat here and get in the mix for the top five quarterback prospects around one. I think that's what you're looking looking at Day one for Chicago. Jeff. What's a more likely scenario the Bears somehow moving up and trying to get into the mix with Trey Lance if he somehow falls or going after a Kellerman or contrast in the second or third round. Yeah, Yeah, Myron, I would say that's more likely. Now, obviously, the bears you know, they love to make the big splashes. I mean, sometimes the moves don't work out so well, I mean, moving up to get service key from 3 to 2. Was a huge deal back in 2017 Ryan taster. GM did pull up the move for Khalil Mack, which was also you know a big one. They have been very aggressive in the draft, moving up to try to get players they have targeted. So I know the bears. Guys. I got caught in Chicago here. It is dicey with the fan base. No one is buying the Andy Dalton jersey here in Chicago. Let me tell you so. I mean, everyone would love for the bears to get a real Start Prospect quarterback. I just don't know. Given the resource is they have, if that's realistic, they will try. But if they fail, I do think. Certainly those second tier quarterbacks and round two baby round three will definitely come into play. I think the Bears would strongly consider taking one of them. When you think Jeff about how the Dalton sighting was perceived, how much of that was hurt, knowing that they tried to get Russell Wilson Yeah, that that's um That was a blessing and a curse that that became public. I mean, it was okay. They're being aggressive as they should be, Of course, exploring every option for the fact that you know you might have had Russell Wilson. And then you have Andy Dalton who don't get me wrong. It's certainly a serviceable quarterback. But I would say that everyone would agree that his days of being labeled a franchise quarterback are in the rear view beer. You know, the Bears guys are just in this perpetual quarterback Purgatory. It is. It's unbelievable to watch whatever they tried just doesn't work long term. So I think, Dalton, you know, eyes far as, like accuracy, maybe intelligence on field intelligence. It could operate over Travis Key athleticism movement. No, it's not. So it's a little bit of a push. It seems like and bears fans are not liking that. I'm telling you guys, it is. It's a It's a very testy group right now in Chicago. They're hoping for something big on draft night because expectations going into the season or not through the roof here in town. I don't necessarily mean this as a joke. But you said they've been looking for a quarterback since Luckman. So where does Andy Dalton rank right now before even taking a snap in terms of bears, quarterbacks of all time? I mean, geez, I got I mean, when you're talking about like when Jay Cutler's You're one. I mean, where does he go? From there? You'd have to put Dalton so I mean, I'll stop my head. I would say Cutler won No. Jim McMahon won the Super Bowl, but it was always perfect won the Super Bowl, So he's up there, you know, Rex Grossman took them to a Super Bowl, but perhaps his career kind of blamed out quickly. I mean, don't gotta be top five. And is that amazing? I mean, really, He's probably a top five quarterback for the Bears all time before taking a snap out, So I'm gonna go drive off the road. A Jeff so obviously there's a lot of talk about your risky We all know what happened there. But how did the Nick Foles signing with the guaranteed money attached to it complicate everything that they were trying to do? A deposition? Well, you know, he's not making much this year, Myron because he had to hit certain benchmarks to avoid that contract out which you thought he was going to do so is only making six million this year. Last year, the money they negotiated. It wasn't terrible money, but it was definitely he was making quite a bit more than travesty. I just think last year you saw that Matt Maggie's preference all along was pulled. Everything that happened with covert. Late training camp. No off season program. It made it very difficult for him to go to him and weak one. But you saw guys how quickly and week three he pulled. The trigger is like Stravinsky, you're gone. And both comes back in and pulls get hurt His mistress he takes back over. Yeah, it was. It was a mess last year, and that's what they're trying to avoid. You know, Dalton in Cincinnati was a pretty durable quarterback. They really don't want to have to ping pong back and forth. I'm not saying that would preclude them trying to grab the young quarterback. They need a young quarterback. They know that They kind of feel like your boy hindsight that they could Elektra Biscuit sit in 2017 for the whole year. That would have helped, But they signed Mike Glennon, who was a disaster, so Everything with the Bears. Guys at quarterback is complicated. I wish there was an easy answer for anything. There's just not. Unfortunately you have takers and ESPN NFL Asian Pears reporter. Thanks, Jeff Appreciate it. Guys take care. Obviously got to solve that quarterback issue you do and you know that, But it's interesting because this Bears team in which Robiskie last year and fools Uh, Went ate and ate and made the playoffs, okay?.

"JAG walls. David Montgomery had a six yard touchdown run that gives Chicago a 27 and 10 lied. So that would be Montgomery's fourth rushing touchdowns in four games, So he's had a rushing touchdown each of the last four games. Now it is late in the third quarter. And then Mike Glennon just threw an interception. Right to Roque Want Smith, his old teammate. That's a second pick of the day. Well, yes. Oh Chicago Ball now in Jacksonville territory, so Chicago Hope. Hopefully, Hopefully that's what I'm looking for here, hopefully now starting to pull away against Jacksonville, it's a must win situation for Chicago, as we mentioned to Chicago owns the tiebreaker over the Cardinals. The Cardinals just lost yesterday. And so now Chicago's gotta went out in order to secure a spot in the playoffs or at least have the same record or better than the Arizona Cardinals to get in. I never I get confused with how the tiebreakers work, Jordan. I don't know if it was so strange to disguise your schedule. Okay? Yeah, straight. This guy's That's how you or or had the head of the Jags would have. The tiebreaker is able to softer schedule, right? And you're talking about the draft, though, that you have a tight right. I'm talking about the playoffs, but Yet Still I know where you're going with this. The Chiefs also have now kicked a field goal. So they lead the Falcons 10 to 7. What an atrocious score Okay for a chief's offense that has Patrick Mahomes under center. And all those weapons. They only lead the Falcons 10 to 7. At the start of the fourth quarter. You know what's gonna happen Those shakes whatever is bad is the chief's look for his bad as the chief's look, they'll find a way to win the game. The larger conversation becomes Well, they run into a team that's good enough to close the door on them. Again. It's purely projection. Obviously, the rest of that game is to play out the cheese and the Falcons, but the Chiefs have a pension. For pulling out the close ones because they have Patrick Holmes in in uniform there in Kansas City. But is that enough to give you the confidence to say It's the cheese versus the field of postseason. I'm not of that belief. I think they're very vulnerable and, most importantly, not playing their best football the most critical time. Don't forget the chief's overcame what a three touchdown deficit against the Texans last. Yeah, that's what I was saying. Last segment, like other quotes, gonna be what the Texans were last year? No, I think the culture more competent team. That will close out a lead like that. They're more veteran group and they're built to win games like that. More so. Then that team was last year in Texas. I don't know. The chiefs are just so good. I just feel like when there's a team like the Chiefs who can score points at such a high clip. Why aren't they doing it? Like why aren't they putting up the point that they were able to do last year? Is it because teams just bring their a game and their defense is play better against them? Hey, I know the Falcons D has gotten better consistently over the last few years. But to hold the chief's toe only 10 points in the fourth quarter. Doesn't that seem odd that just there's something off about this chief's team right now. They're just not putting up points the way they are accustomed to doing it. And I know at any point you don't rule out any reading. Don't rule out Patrick Moms, You go down the list. They don't have quite Edwards. He later now you thought you'd see a little bit more from Lady Um Bell today, not the case. Have not seen a lot from Libyan bell. In fact, Bell has only 30 yards rushing on seven carries. What do you do? Who cares? I don't know the vulnerable team. What's that bear score? I wanna teach you the bear stat for go to break. Bears for hold on 27 to 10, 27 and $10 if the Bears hit 30 in this game. It'll be the fourth straight game they scored over 30. It'll be the first time The Bears have scored 30 and four straight games since 1965 wait. What's of 1965 the Bears have 27. They lead 27 10 over Jacksonville currently if they reached the 30 point threshold. That'll make it four straight games where the Bears offense has generated 30 or more points. That will be the first time they put together a string of four games with 30 plus points. Since 1965 Okay, and that's just Wow. That's just goes to show you how bad the Bears offense has been my entire life. I'll tell you every time A bear's broadcast comes on the national broadcast. Sid Luckman gets mentioned is the best Bears quarterback. I taught you that did not Where you taking credit for something I had nothing to do with what I said that to you, sir. Here comes to Sid Luckman mentioned because they don't have that franchise quarterback. It's eluded them for so long. We talk about the Bears. About their linebackers. Talk about the big uglies up front. You talk about defense has been a whole lot offense in Chicago. But this is a welcome sight with them, threatening again in the Red zone about to add on more points, potentially leading 27 10. Just under three minutes left in the third. All right. We got more from Game day coming up next more scores, and we had to Vegas. So coming up next game day and ESPN radio.

"Trouble. It's a stripped the ball was out inside the 10 yard line is strip sack, and it's recovered by the Lions. John Dempsey, were you watching your state? By chance? I decided to spare myself the pain and I did not watch. So I turned on the game at the beginning of the game, and I watched, you know, maybe seven or eight minutes of it, I guess. And we did the same thing. I did the same thing. I just switched over to golf just to watch the quarterbacks. He was happening. What Soldier Field looked like anybody there, You know, just kind of get Layla and the body of mine came over. And we both like to smoke cigars and last my wife is out of town. Yeah, I can't smoke cigars in the house. So we we journey to the garage. You know where the garage is right? It's a bit of a walk. Yeah. Just sounding detached garage went down there. We sat down there and talked about a lot of different subjects. Basically home security how the neighborhood's going right the hell but more on that later, perhaps, but Spent the day putting up some bring cameras, by the way, but but anyway, so he spoke their cigars and spend some time out there, and I had a little lunch and everything else. You know, we're gonna probably take a look at the game came back inside. There's a route by 10 by 10 by 10 with, like, three minutes to go. Bad they say. Well, this could still get away from them. This guy this Patrick or not, Patrick, What's his name? Matthew Stafford. Cross bag drills, one of the end zone. That's on extra point bears. They're still free, and I turned my buddy Eddie and I said I predict Mitch. True. Pesky is gonna fumble this ball and they're going to lose. And he said Why you keep their card. Why are you so Excuse me? Can I still use the phrase chief Dark out in 2020? I don't think I should be the one to say I'm not gonna I'm not gonna comment. I want you to use your own judgment. Debbie Downer, he said. Why are you such a Debbie Downer? And I said, Because I've seen this movie before, and Eddie is in his eighties. Believe me, he's seen a lot of their games. And so, uh, Poor man. Poor man. Well, he saw few. Good season. He was around for 63 85. He saw Sid Luckman. Okay, so he's been around for a while. So anyway, we're sitting there and now they're up by three and I said, I predict he's gonna fumble. I did. I didn't say just turn it over. I said. I think it's gonna be a formula. I think it's gonna be. He's gonna hang onto it too long, and they're telling him not to run, which he should just run for it, but he's not gonna run. And sure enough, here comes a fumble. So now now the lions or what? Within the 10 yard line within 10 yards of scoring a touchdown. I so well. I'm pretty sure they're going to score a touchdown on second down Peterson again. Adrian.

I just wanna run away too. And quick. Davin it. Ah! George Landa. Is that the Is that the guy who is the other bears? No. Said lock. Okay, the great Sid Luckman, who Who was quite the cat about town when I first got here, and he was He was really he was. He was glamorous in a way, you know, I mean, he was of a different time, but he was You're a hell of a guy and I'm in some crazy way. I'm kind of proud of that. You know, I hung around a long time, but I can't have I kind of get great advice from it'll bread of it. And you know what? One time we were up. You know, I haven't had a you know a stake in in mobile one. And anyway, somebody said, how long you gonna play? Dan and I said, I don't know it, you know, turn to him, and I said, What do you think he goes? You need to play 12 years play your butt off for 10 years and then you could get a couple of years. That's a slider, and that's exactly what happened. But, hey, you know, in my in my 12 years, I think we made the playoffs a time. So that's pretty good stuff. No kidding, by the way, blander Also in three decades. But just not with the Bears remember at the end of his career with the Raiders when he was he was well into his forties and coming off the bench who kicking and playing quarterback On pulling out these games late, the formatting went there. Well, I guess it's Ah, It's the best opponent. The Berries have faced yet Sunday, isn't it? Dan? Absolutely. You know, bears are three and oh, boy, Here we go, and we finally I have a pretty worthy opponent. Now. All the all the football marriage that, you know, buy into all this new defensive metrics stuff, the video and all that tells us O. This is the best defense that there is in the football early. I'm not so sure. You know they played, uh what they played the Vikings, The Jaguars the Jets, really? You're going to count those guys. It's You know real NFL offenses. So I'm just saying, I really like the way the Bears are stacked up. Now we all know about the decision to go with Nick Foles has the haircut. I'll just tell you, you watch some of the tape of these coaches to their press conferences. They remind me of a guy that flies to Vegas and instead of the car rental place getting a Ford escape. They give you like a real shining Silverado. What will drive you know, there are like they're giddy, Giddy. They finally have Quarterback to understand what they're talking about. When they're saying, you know, we needed to know Attack defence is so, um, I in the same way I'm getting. I'm very excited about it, but but I think the hidden hand part of this game is everybody's talking about in Annapolis. His defense will I think of teen Gates and coil Mac and And the rest of those guys were going to say Wait a minute. Wait a minute. If anybody's going to be going, Wow, look at that defense. It's going to be about us. So I think our defense really Is going to hit their stride and get after Mr Rivers this weekend. When you look at the Bears defense Hamp there have been times since you only have to go back to last week in Atlanta. On DH find some of those instances where they didn't look like the Bear's defense we expected to seek, but then they turn around fourth quarter They were great game's on the line. They've They've been able to close it out, even with Detroit on the goal line in that first game, So yes, is this may be going to give us a better indication of Or is this the week that we see the Bears defense we expected to see Again. No preseason, No offseason. Okay. All right. Well in our secondary, you know Gibson is the new safety got the game. Ending interception this past week. The jail in Johnson is it's going to be a terrific player, but he's a rookie. And you can't run a bunch of, you know, banjo and in amounts and all these different calls with rookies that just don't figure it out for a little while. So now going into the fourth game, they should be much better. Um Dan excavated, looked lost and slow the first couple of weeks. He's gotten a little bit better kind of gotten up to speed. But the main difference is that the The line of scrimmage. McCain Hicks started slow last week. He was dominant. He was the guy that we remember Khalil Mack will on ly feed off of that, Robert Quinn. Had one game one play against, UM other Giants two weeks ago, and he's been AWOL. So if we get everyone show up in his and invariably, I remember, you know, for many years we were the number one ranked defense. But would goto Cincinnati are Dallas or whatever. And would hear people Like, you know, other players, people on the silent going. Oh, yeah. You think you're number one word? It's It's kind of a big deal, and it's a source of inspiration. And you take pride in it that you want to be the show Pony defense. You want it, and firstly, little Max. Not happy that everybody is going to be talking about. But they're in the Indianapolis told me since this weekend. They want to be the defense that it's where your cloth everybody's doing. Wow. Did you see that defense and they're not talking about the colt? We're talking about the bear so We've had. We've had fits and starts where we played pretty good here may be missing some things there. I think Madonna will have him ready to go. Come Sunday. More from Dan Hampton. Sponsored by Chevy Dr Chicago dot com. Come and.

"I tease the NFL's all time highest average yards per pass attempt. Number one on the list. There's a name from the past. I'm going Take a shot is an older guy. If it's from the past years and well, I like older, older guy. Yeah, they're Lamonica from the no raider who Auto gram. Oh, yeah, really old old. Second on the list. Patrick Mahomes. Third on the list. Sid Luckman, another old old quarterback. Fourth on the list. Another old old quarterback, Norm Van Brocklin. Fifth on the list is dish on Watson. Which I found surprising. Mahomes second. This is a minimum of £1000 attempts all time highest average yards per pass attempt. Shawn Watson, his fifth on that list. I'll have my Super Bowl prediction coming up on Thursdays. We get ready for the start of the NFL season. 11 poll question. Okay, I'm gonna give you three groups of quarterbacks and you tell me which group is most likely to win the Super Bowl without revealing your pick. I'll give you the old guy's Tom Brady, Drew Brees and better office Burger, the young guys. The home's Lamar Jackson and Shawn Watson or the medium guys, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson. And is there anyone? I'm leaving out of the medium guy's list? Feels like they're the two. They're not older, die young. But they're Super Bowl possibilities. Dak Prescott. I? Well, there are a lot of young guys went in Prescott. I didn't know if they belonged. Carson Wentz in Dak Prescott today and the young guys, are they the medium guys? I would say Dak is medium. What about Kirk Cousins? That's a good team. You know? Why is he in that elite? I've no got the names here. It's Mahomes, Jackson Watson. But I have to look at the team as well. So I can't I can't take out a quarterback from a team that has a chance to win the Super Bowl. True, and Dallas has a chance to win the Super Bowl. I mean, they all have a chance. But who better than average chance Minnesota has a chance? What about that group with the old Corps back through the box states and Steelers? Are they in the Super Bowl picture? If everything goes well for Pittsburgh, and that's saying a lot. They could win that division over Baltimore. My opinion if everything goes well, but it never does. Um Saints and Buccaneers. I feel like Everything has to go well for Tom Brady. And everything's got to go well for Drew Bree. I mean at that age, it's It's the degree of difficulty is already tough and pretty high. And braiding. He's got weapons there and they were better at the end of the year. The Saints. I'm just I'm just not sure. Camaro and got to get that contract situation figured out. Yeah. You know, the clock is ticking on these guys. And they added, even more prey is this breeze is last year. Is it going to take the TV job at NBC, so that pressure Did you see where Taysom Hill is now the number two quarterback on the depth chart in New Orleans over Jamis Winston I don't get it, I think were fascinated by potential and I think we look at Jamie's Winston is damaged goods. He's still very talented. He just doesn't make smart decisions sometimes. And can you learn that? Can he learn to be smarter with the ball, not force it in there. This isn't Florida State. You got to think your way down the field. And I didn't think he did. Certainly with Tampa Bay. But if you said Drew Brees is not going to play weak, too, is Taysom Hill going to be your quarterback? I would say no. I would think I would think James Winston would still be your quarterback Taysom Hill, who is the back of quarterback, and I think he's also on the kick return team as well. I don't know how many times you got a quarterback would be the backup quarterback, but also he would be on the kick return team, but Taysom Hill is a and look. There were times when I guess you could say in that game against Minnesota. I was the best player on the field, but I don't know if he's a every down every week, Quarterback I mean, I love to see it, but I I just don't think he is a club. But remember, the Saint reporter Jeff Duncan said. He's a Steve Young to Joe Montana. We've had to say to reporters tell us that it's Sean Payton has this idea. Steve Young could throw the ball. Steve Young completed 70% of his passes. Taysom Hill was not a great college quarterback. But where the Saints reporters getting that from Probably from Sean Payton. I'm guessing he should. Sean loves him, but I don't know. I don't get it. He wasn't a great college quarterback, and that was four years ago. Is he one of those guys that can you put him on the field? Can you keep him on the field? Can you find reps form? Maybe, but I don't think he's the second coming of Lamar Jackson. But I don't think he's even Colin Kaepernick. By the way, Juicy Floreal had article he said. Zero interest and Colin Kaepernick. Memory. It felt like there was a push by the commissioner that Hey, teams. They're interested in him and I let him okay. I said at the time, and I firmly believed it. He'd never play football again. I don't know if that's And his Floreal points out. Why doesn't somebody just call Colin Kaepernick's bluff? Because everybody keeps saying the same thing that Kaepernick's not going to play unless he's a starter? Why not?.

"Bears first two games of the season. Two weeks from today, we'll be getting ready for the Bears and lions they played At Ford Field in Detroit. Noon. Kickoff on Facts 32 September 13th bears lions, and then after that, a week later, they play back his soldier field against the Giants. Now, if in fact even Montgomery's out 2 to 4 weeks. That means he could be ready for the opener. But The guy's got a groin injury. I don't know how quickly you want to have him rush out there because we re injured it or is that 100% healthy in Vegas hamstring hamstring and that was August 3rd. And yesterday crossing the street light was starting to change while I took a half up to the curb, and I could feel that is still not ready yet. But then again, I'm not getting the old airplanes or pain, right? Yeah, I'm not getting electric stem, and I'm not. You know that putting ice on it every day and usually the you know, the only thing called is the beer in my hands. I'm not worried about that kind of stuff. You could still sit on the couch with you. No good form and But I got a really nice ice pack that works wonders. It's really good. I just had to be sitting there. Which you again. Today's till Sunday, So maybe I'll have a nice back with me. But I don't think the Bears can beat the Lions and the Giants it with Cordero, Patterson or Tariq Owen is running, especially when we don't know what the quarterback situation is. Goingto look like I still need to run a game either way up to the point where I don't think it matters. I will take one. I don't think ones that much better than the other. I really don't And I know bears fan you want to jump in. Do you really think that your son is right and shoulders above the other? No, I agree with that. I don't think that I think you know when one needs to get pull the other one better be ready and the other one will gotta recoup, you know, gather their thoughts and get back into it and there it is going to be a platoon things back and forth. I think the thing we heard J. J say when he joined us cover minutes ago. Why's that This is going to be an ongoing thing. He said he would not be surprised if it changes. Late in October, and then again, maybe in. There's not going to be a defined winner of this card. This is the guy well, hey, has improved it proven it and Matt Nagy basically said Nagy said something which is interesting. He actually said that They're going to do it inside internally, he said. But it won't be done publicly. Solace like we gotta wait. Watch so we should start talking about that whole kicker thing. So basically land a big smokescreen. Anyhow, I heard Did you hear? I think it was Podian cap. No, He was a lot on Sylvia talking about how they thought that maybe they signed that kicker so that we could start talking about kickers and quarterbacks. You don't realize that there's never It's never going to change a CZ. Long as you're a bears fan. There will always be quarterback talk. Is there always has been since Sid Luckman. There has never been that one quarter. And if we ever if we ever get in there, not Aaron Rodgers himself, But Aaron Rodgers type of franchise quarterback homes, watch any of those guys will be talking about that one person. Dad nauseam. We never just going to settle. We're not in the DNA of Ah, really bears. Let's see if they can get there. If they could get close to that, maybe that would happen, Nagy was asked..

No, it's not. Some feelings that I don't know. I don't mean in that way, but people that dismiss it because they think, Oh, it's just a game. It's sports. No, no, we're talking about professional sports. You there are billions of dollars on the line. There are thousands of jobs on the line. It's an entire industry. I know you can. Summit down, Teo says sports. No, it's not. This is a massive industry so Well like this. It is amazing how we how much value we put on it. It isthe. And I mean, isn't it like silly to think OK, and I think everybody's had this thought like a guy getting paid $20 million a year to play a game. It is where the industry is that it's not not saying there's anything wrong with him getting that because they're getting their piece of the pie, and they should. They're the product in the day, but like where we are, and I'm thinking about everything, Carm, how do we get to a spot where a guy playing baseball is making 2030? $40 million a year? Because we love it are obsessed with it, and we'll pay lots of money, a lot of money for it, so Devotes W yours Truly. Without the car and KP. I'll give you another one. The Chicago Bulls. Okay, let's just pick them. Their first season in existence was 1966. 67 Okay? So it was the 50 year anniversary. Just a couple of years ago, there were 53 years of Bulls basketball. Now 53 years. Now, let's think about The entire history of the world, and how short that 53 years is like It's it's not even like three. It's nothing. It's a speck in time it Sze, right? Nothing. And yet Somehow, in that period of time, it climbed Tio just an enormous level of importance, right? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense when when did when did football. You know you were talking about the forties and Sid Luckman. I mean, it's just not long ago. How are we gonna live without sports? Well, actually, for literally for all time, we've lived with that sort of except for this little small period in time, and there's something I do think that competition is It's instinct, right? I think I think that actually comes with its built in or DNA. I do so competition and then people it's it's snowballed into what it is now. I'm not again. I'm not saying anything is necessarily wrong. By any means. It's just like How are you kind of not thinking about everything right now? Yeah, I get that a little deep here car. But if we're trying to unravel like the years, your central question was, did I miss sports the way I thought I would write and not really. Right. I thought if I had to go three or four months of that life sports, I'd be when I lost my mind. But it's almost been. The opposite is also Hey, Kevin. Hey, Kevin. Here's the deal. Okay, Carmody gotten on Wednesday. They announce there's going to be no baseball the season. They're not going to do college football. And baseball right now is indefinitely postponing playing until they have a proven vaccine. This is a hypothetical we're going right and we don't even know if there will be a 2021 season. Well, what would be your reaction? I think it would feel a little different than the way it has over the past few months because the past few months was saying it's thinks we don't have sports but deep down. There's hope. There's hope that it hasn't been completely scraps. I think If I did get the finalized It's done within 20. I think that would I think that would be like a punch to the gut. You know, because you For the past few months. The hope is that we'll figure we'll figure it out. We'll find a way we'll find a way we'll find a way. And then if somebody told me no gone, That would be devastating. I think, okay, I think so. I finally hit pay dirt here. 2021 no baseball bat that that that that I have been up with the panic button. 312981 72 100 Baseball coming back. How much have you missed it? "About you Mr President? When that didn't work they started comparing baseball to Roosevelt Square deal? You know what's more fair than a batter facing a pitcher you know. It doesn't matter your circumstances in life. It's a real fair transaction and this continues you know nineteen to one two two three four but then Roosevelt wins reelection and baseball really kind of ups the ante at that point. It was nineteen zero five ban. Johnson was the president of the American American League he gets a meeting with President Roosevelt And this is not that unusual Roosevelt. was you know pretty open door especially compared to the White House today. He was interested in hearing from leaders. There's of different sorts and so bad Johnson comes to the White House. He has a meeting with Roosevelt and he explains to the president. You know why why. The national pastime is something that that the president should be a part of and this is where baseball gets the first hint that the president's absence from Baseball Games might not have been an accident. Roosevelt does mention that baseball's always been a struggle for him personally and he mentioned that he was not good baseball as a kid. And really what this boils down to. I think his Roosevelt has really poor eyesight. He gets glasses in his early teen years. And that certainly helps. But Roosevelt can't see very well and of all sports I mean. Visual Acuity is key to baseball right still. The president of the American League and the President of the free world have by all accounts. A pleasant conversation and as things are wrapping up Ban Johnson Presents President Roosevelt with a golden ticket. kind of sounds like Willy Wonka right. I mean it's very intricate. It's got golden lace. This kind of emboss. Very fancy very ornate very serious baseball very serious about itself through much of its history so they give it to Roosevelt and basically what Ben Johnson says says is that this ticket allows him entry into the senators ballpark or any other American League ballpark.
