Runcie realized they didn't love their jobs at all and that they hadn't make a big change. So i think nothing of really allowing people the time to look at what they were doing and think anyone to do it moving forward. Yeah and that's i mean what you. I think this is incredible. Because you get to be yourself and annoy you do what you love. Because he saw a good at it and you can just feel it. And that's so really like a lot of us. "I think it's just important to think about that as a practice like. You can't just. I think you want to actually stop thinking you have to work at it rather than just do it on command. Okay but just just to be clear. Tim grimes is saying the exact opposite of that. He sang Out of your head. I agree with what he's saying. I guess i've never read his work or anything. But i like the idea that yeah. It's not complicated practice yet. Stop thinking just make it easy. Don't over think it don't think i think that's great too but in my experience trying to do you think when you snowboard. Oh no that's why. I do it but yet like the flow state that you get into. Whether it's you know making art or snowboarding or any of that. That's that's amazing. But even i'm just saying that you have to at least put a little bit of work into like safe. You just want to not think snowboarding your way of doing that. will you. At least have to like figure out how to snowboard as much as possible which can be. I don't know. I'm just saying it takes a little bit of work to do. I still consider that a practice Not think in. I think practice you get better at it with time and i don't. I don't necessarily agree that if you just say don't think now and it will take no work is do it. Now you'll instant success. I am more of like of the opinion that it does take work in the long run. But it is a great Goal and it's a great sentiment for sure so We've been at this for a little while. Tell folks what's going on it cosmic keys. Who you got coming up to who you're talking to where you were you planning on going well I've got a lot of interviews on deck at the moment And i've been. I'm trying to bring it kinda more back. I'm really interested in talking about astrology. we didn't really talk about astrology in this interview. But it's a thing that. I am actually pretty skeptical of at the end of the day but i would i like about astrology is just the act of of observing time it you know if you make predictions or if you make interpretations that's one thing but if you just simply observe the movement. I think that's.

"That autopilot mode. Because if you're if not stopping and observing your thoughts. Which is what you do mindfulness meditation. I don't know. I mean you might not be aware of of which of higher acting impulsively Reacting to everything around you. you're not thinking. Oh i have the choice to stop thinking about this end. Just hit mute for a second if you hit mute all of a sudden that little bursts can kind of dissolve in your at square one again. I don't know that's just what i've been recently. Kind of doing. With the stresses of this. Year the stresses of a day job and like just realizing the little things are really dragging me down. Just like the you know getting getting pissed at somebody at work or getting pissed at someone in your family for a little thing and then just letting that grow and grow. I think the mind like being mindful as much as possible in knowing that you can just stop like you're saying stop thinking for a second hit reset. I think is serving me lately at least and that's awesome so we're just shooting ideas back and forth. Oh yeah yeah so two things that that these are like subtle little things but this is like the most important fun stuff to talk about. I see kind of differently and it doesn't mean that i haven't tried exactly what you're talking about but where i'm at now is one you know like i told you tim. Grimes joy not thinking. Is that that really is an option. And i think we're so conditioned to thinking that that isn't an option other than in some super tricky spiritual eastern way of not thinking of being mindful of being centered and. tim saint. Fuck that shit to stop thinking you don't you don't have to think and when you say that to somebody do notice that they'll go like well. I can't do that. I mean what would happen. Is that okay. Stop thinking for the next thirty seconds. How about that with that totally. Fuck up your life. Would your life totally fall apart. If you stopped fucking.

"These evil forces really Can't handle it and they'll they'll go away the more people embrace love. That's there so many really interesting little things you said there that i think are so profound. I'm in one. You have to save yourself. I loved that. Because i think that's so true and i also agree with you that it is a matter of being mindful of the little things at the same time i also. I don't want. I don't want to put words in your mouth but i kind of heard us say that you know this stuff isn't really that hard in a way you know it's really not you know it's like one of my teachers. Mickey singer says it's like you're drowning and six inches of water. you know. just lift your head up. You know don't don't do that anymore. I just interviewed a guy. I really really loved. This guy's name is tim. Grimes and he wrote a book. The joy of not thinking and i found his book just going through kindle and it was in the skill kindle unlimited on like. Wow that sounds interesting. The guy is phenomenal. I love this guy and the title says it all in terms of what we're talking medics like you don't have to fuck think about everything you don't have to take everything so fuck and seriously you're not at the center of the universe you'd at the center you world. You're not even at the center of your fucking county. No it's not that what what ever is going to happen you have you know you don't worry so much about it and the other thing is just beep beep beep playful. Have fun with yourself with life. You know the joy of not thinking how freeing it is to give this. We don't have to solve all these problems. These are other people's problems for the most part that were taking on. Yeah it's it's just lately especially for me like it's it's definitely in. You have a yoga background. I just think you know when you if you put the the moralistic like christian perspective of like you know. Love love thy neighbor as thyself or whatever and all the really basic tenants of christianity which are pretty straightforward and true. In my opinion the bait like not talking about the dogma or the institutions or anything but the basics of christianity are true. But i like when. I'm if if i don't embrace some kind of let's say eastern practice. I can't do that very effectively. Because you're not mindful if you're not centered and introspective. How you you're not gonna be aware of when you're just pissed off and resentful and spewing out negative things all the time you really believe that see. I don't think you believe that. Because i think what you said before contradicts which is that. It's pretty easy. You just gotta catch it so it's easy when you're when you're spiraling down that path we all see it in. We just like we're just stuck in that group and we're like fuck. This just feels more comfortable right now to spew this yet or we've been told that hey it's a good idea to it off your chest or process and stuff like that. I go back to rewind on your dan what you said before which is just no. You don't have to you find yourself thinking those thoughts you know. Think you're stop thinking like my buddy. Tim says or just understand that. There's a completely other perspective on whatever hate you're having you know about some other person right right. I'm just saying. I was just trying to bridge the gap between you know being good and being forgiving and loving and being self aware about it in having a mindfulness practice.

I agree in the problem with that is it doesn't have the power for people. I think they immediately want to turn away. Because it doesn't it doesn't give juice. It doesn't give the jolt it doesn't give the satanic ritual abuse jolt. Yeah i'm with you and When you're when you're thinking about love and the way things work in this world. I mean lately like i i think not only do you need to embrace love and forgiveness but you just need to be aware of little negative thoughts and little resentful thoughts and everything and just stop yourself and just change the way you're thinking change your vibration and then more like it's kinda like that law of attraction thing like you reap what you so you attract to your your vibration matches What's coming towards you. So if you're sitting around hateful In this this is a problem with me. I have a problem of not forgiving. People are not trusting people or holding grudges against people and who's losing at the end of the day for being like that. Nobody would me so when you talk about the only thing that's going to take us out of this. Hell is the force of love and compassion forgiveness yet because it has it has a domino effect. And it's it's more it's like you know when you shine a light into a dark room. It lights up the whole room without that one source of light. It's still pitch black. And i think it's easier than we think to to try to do better in to try to Get rid of these evil forces. That are everywhere. But i i see it as a very individualistic journey. Because if you don't look at yourself and sort of think who am i who am. I hate eating right now. Whom i hold a grudge against who am i resent full towards If you don't stop observe that then it's going to be going on in the background non stop. And it's it's it's a weird time for preaching these like spiritual love messages. 'cause so so many things are topsy turvy but i i sort think it's extremely individualistic in. You have to save yourself. You have to be accountable for yourself and know how powerful that is..

"Until i think this year but his father was One of the founders of planned parenthood. So what. I want to make sure you get my point. So let's say all the bad stuff you know is true and all the stuff assume for a minute that all the crazy stuff that we hear about the vaccine is true. Does he still take. Is he still the guy who saved the planet. Because here's my point just being real skeptical for a minute. You don't control population on the planet. You're doomed so whatever you think. The population is now eight billion. Nine billion it it okay. You can double it okay. I don't think he can double it but you double it. You're at sixteen billion kenya. Double it again. You get to thirty two billion because this can this planet really support that many people you know. China was billing those ghost cities for the longest time. Because like oh are we gonna do with our population. We've got a bit a bill. Put them someplace bill. These huge cities and spend all this money with knowing. They're just planning the growth on now do they. Just kinda given up on that is someone just is on a higher level in the big big game saying you know it's just unsustainable and we gotta figure out a way to do it. That is the most humane but eventually we gotta get to less people. Don't get me wrong folks. I'm not advocating that. I'm just saying until you put that out there until you really Try and look at it from that perspective. You don't understand the kind of logic of that argument because we're not treating the other part of that equation logically. We don't have any global plan to control the population. Because if we did we would have done it. Fifty years ago and we wouldn't be in the mess that we're in. Yeah i mean it gets me thinking that. There's i agree that the you know. The global population is a really important issue. And if you have Exponential population growth it kinda reaches a plateau in the plummets. And that's kind of nature. I think that's a a natural thing But when you hab fan i would call it..

Ultra program is your classic. Sick twisted scientists any happens to be jewish. Not that that matters although it does it. We can't help but say that it matters given the weird historical context that we went exactly like you said and picked up where they left off with all these sick 'em k. and german mind control projects and They're sidney gottlieb me other always out his. You know sidney gottlieb. I i love this. Because it's like the such skeptical thing. Sidney gottlieb is in charge of the stargate program to the remote viewing program which wellness. Oh no that's really cool. That's where we're fighting for. Freedom innocent now sydney got. It comes as yeah. Let's dawson with lsd and see what happens and yet you know we get russell targeted help us and we chatted tell sydney that wasn't a good idea and that yeah but sitting. Was your fucking boston. Sydney was your boss in. He was running all these other sick fricken programs at exactly what you said dan. That's who we had become and there's no evidence that that has changed. You know. I mean that is who we are. Yeah and it's i remember. Yeah and now. It's it gets me thinking. There was some post from cia woman on twitter and they're kind of like putting themselves out there in like being like. Oh this guy is going to be inclusive or like anti-racist so they can like apply all the woke rhetoric to the freaking c. I. a. and Yeah it's it's all of those things. And i was just kind of googling sydney shamburg who you're talking about but again even when i think about the generations like the The hippy movement. There's a lot of a lot of cia involvement in all of that. Obviously the lsd thing. The timothy leary's and So it seems so much like these big social changes kind of just Organically burst forward in. It's like oh yeah this. It's time for us to evolve or change but a lot of the times. It seems like it's it's controlled by these deep state forces. And i i really think the sixties is a huge turning point than you know the seventies and eighties and nineties are kind of like easing into those changes. And then boom nine eleven. New changing point like obama was a big changing point out. Twenty twenty s going to be absolutely huge for like the big technocratic changing point and i don't even think we've seen Half of what's going to really roll out in the next few years with like all of these Things that they've got ready ready to roll out. Is bill gates hero. Our grandkids going to be. You know god. I swear to god i was driving through la hoya california the other day and i saw a building size of. "It's in i think. Twenty twenty was a year where we're in a new phase of the long game in when i look at people younger than me like people that are like gen z or younger. Like they're calling them like the the alpha generation like little kids right now. I can only imagine how they're be conditioned right now with masks and with all these propaganda things. They don't know any better and if we're going to try to take any control back from this like techno feudalism that they have ready to roll out. It's going to mean we're going to have to d- program a lot of this social engineering. So it's it's kind of a dark thing to think about. But i think that's why the spiritual is so important because if you literally are in touch with your inner world in touch with your soul and if you have a mind full if you practice some kind of mindfulness practice you can kinda step back in Fine inner peace in the middle of this world. Wind of of chaos. Kinda late. a lot out there. i'm to try. Pull it apart because the long game the big game and the only game. That's how i break it down. Like here's where i take the long game. I disconnect the dots that you that you have like you look at today in the plan damage and you go it. It's a conspiracy if at its simplest level. It's a conspiracy that there's no medical scientific behind any of these edicts. They're just they're just now edicts the and they're highly politicized. So if you're a-political like i am you just step back. Oh okay. someone's running game. That's a program that's a project otherwise it doesn't work that way otherwise there's some kind of scientific basis for these things. There's kind of a democratic basis for these things and there isn't sega. okay. I get it. I've seen that before and you've seen it before like you can go to nine eleven like i said okay. Yeah the we we have this event and the next day. There's a thousand page patriot. Act bill on the desk of congress you go. That doesn't happen accidentally. There's a list of seven countries we're gonna invade and we invade all that you just go okay. I get it. that's a game. that's a program. I would also connect this the other one. I'm going to throw on the table. I was reminded of The interviews. I did on global warming before i really caught onto it for what it was which is another game another project. I kind of looked at it from a science perspective and it pissed me off because it's like you guys are not following the science and i'll never forget i talked to one guy and you going to talk about like m. k. I'm trying to just talk about current events more. And but i do. I am really focused on the spiritual perspective so if we can look at current events from a spiritual perspective. That's kind of what i'm shooting for. But yeah i don't. It's pretty open ended for me. Anybody that's interesting enough to chat on down to chat with. And i think you know this is something we talked about on your show but i really kind of appreciated and really like the way. You've kind of done that because we talked some of the pros and cons of the talking about current events and can't even talk about him as current events. Dan because i mean one of the things that you brought to focus last time was that things are happening at a rate. Whether you're into kind of current events conspiracies all that stuff. It's been so in-your-face in your face. This year that you really can't avoid it and again. I thought you had just a great kind of perspective shifting thing when you talked about the long game what i'm calling the long game and you said if we look at the stuff that's happening right now and i'm talking about the the plan democ and the you know you can't help but talk about You know the election stealing kind of thing no matter how you come down on that. I mean it's unprecedented. If you look at that stuff and then what you said well what if we shifted that in looked at the longer game and you even went so far as and say look at my parents and what was their game. What was the game for them. And i was like jfk. And then you said you know what was the game changer. For you was like eleven number. One i throw in. There is the the global I'm sorry the The global warming Kinda failed attempt. You know so. Do you wanna just kinda riff on that for a minute. That there is if we do take a step back. There seems to be this long game. Play yet totally. Amin when you study conspiracies in general i mean you could go back to ancient times if you really wanted to But i see it. "Number one, this I want you to know has bumped the original number. One story broke just a little while ago from the playstation blog James Stevenson community director over, and it's SOM- Nick Games put up a thing called included with Marvel's Spiderman Miles Morales ultimated on an ESA summit Marvel Spiderman. remastered details is what the blog post is talking about and it's talking about, of course, the whole voucher code fiasco that's been going on of Marvel's spider man remastered being included with Marvel's Spider Man Miles Morales alternate edition coming on November twelve. The Post. Reads as you would expect, it talks about of course Oh. Hey, we're very excited for this voucher code you're going to get hey, let's talk about the graphical updates they've gone above and beyond on the city environments it looks beautiful. It's always different things cabinet you scroll down comes gotTa pulled up here I go down like Here's what it looks like in four crazy. Okay. Here's the retracing. They see Spiderman in a reflection, but then you scroll a little bit further in read some tax in what do we find Gary? What a look at this a brand new face for Spiderman They've recast Peter Parker, I'm reading from the playstation blog. This does bring us to one of the bigger changes in order to bring the best performances to players with our next generation Marvel Spiderman Games we have recast the face of Peter Parker we loved working with John Bobby. Neck. buback on the original game however, to get a better match for Peter Parker, Slash Spiderman actor Yuri Lowenthal facial capture we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the playstation five council, he looks incredible in game in years moving performances take on a new life right now, if you're a video watcher, you see the doc spoilers Peter Parker scene were docked puts on the arms for the first time. They posted this full here with the new Ben. Jordan model, and of course, jury's still dialogue talking through going through it. Can you full screen? Kevin. Can we see that full screen just to get a little bit more intensity to what we're seeing here? I don't even know where to begin because if you want to talk about the amount of things I did not see happening with Spiderman remastered recasting. Peter Parker was definitely high on something. I hadn't even considered now granted I'm not inside INSOMNIAC, getting updates on what they're doing why they're doing it but. I I am shook Gary I. AM Shuki. Cabinet. If you click on the second link there the second one that will show you a side by side comparison with that on a different one. Side by side comparison, you can full screen that tweet with the original face of course was John buback, and now we're talking about Jordan of. You're alone fall. Famed voice actor Principia a million other things is still the voice both times around first reaction. Gary, widow, what do you think of this new Peter Parker? My immediate first reaction is watching those watching that clip again makes does want to go back and replay the whole gang because it really what a fantastic game that was. Almost forgotten how good it was. I would definitely go back and play the remastered. Strikes me is kind of strange change when I it's funny when I I play the playstation for. Spiderman game. One of the things that wasn't at the top of my list of things I liked was was the cafe seed strategy. I thought it was a little bit old. It wasn't a hundred percent like everyone has their own imaging had of like what pita pocket doesn't look like Tom Holland for me really nails it and obviously does for a lot of people Andrew, golf field for example, didn't you know it's like everyone's got their own Carrots should look like and over time that face model for Peter Parker especially with the voice because year he does a tremendous job as his voice. Grooming and by the end yeah. That's pita pocket. So for them to change it again now feels like a bit of a Curve Ball I. Guess Mostly Greg, the question is why why did they? Why did they feel they needed to change the face where they not happy with it? Like what why did they explain the why of all the all we have so far as his blog post we loved working with John The original game however to get a better match to Peter Parker Slash Spiderman actor Yuri alone falls facial capture capture. We have cast Ben Jordan as to be the face model for Peter Parker on the playstation console.

Mint, Outdoor Pots in Winter, and Transplanting in Fall
"Where I garden in New Mexico September is a very dry month. Our summer monsoons are over, but it's still super warm and we get about an inch and a half of rain if we're lucky in September which is not a lot and just definitely not enough to keep my tomatoes. Happy. And I don't grow a lot of vegetables as you know, if you're a regular listener to this podcast, but I love homegrown tomatoes and I don't even start harvesting them until August. So September is a very important month for me and getting my watering right I. Grow in containers and I need to make sure they don't succumb to bottom blossom rot which we've spoken about in the past, and that's where my dram rain wand comes in the shower setting on the dram rain wand is the perfect setting to very gently but completely thoroughly soak the potting mix in my container. There is nothing I found that does a better job of watering my tomato Anything else that you really need to water in your garden than a rain wand from dram. So check them out at Rainman DOT COM and you'll be happy and your tomatoes will be happy. Today for our eat drink grow segment we're going to talk about keeping plants in pots throughout the winter either outdoors on their own or with a little bit of protection because sometimes container plants need a little extra help from the people who are growing them. Don't they see oh, that's right. They'd say that the soil in a container whether it's a pot or a box or a trough. Gets about twenty degrees colder around temperature. All right. We need to be thinking about that first of all, always for putting something in a container that we want to live through the winter. That means that that plant needs to be hardy about two zones colder. Than where we are so if you're looking, for example for a small evergreen to put in a pot on your porch and you wanted it to be outside during the winter, you look for an evergreen that's hardy to zones below with if you're in zone six, you would want something that's hardy zone for yeah, and the reason for that is pretty easy to understand if you stop and think about it if you're growing something in a container that route ball has a very limited amount of soil surrounding it to act as insulation maybe two. Inches maybe three if it's a really big container, but as that plant grows the amount of soil insulating the roots become smaller as the roots take up more space in that container, a plant growing in the ground that very same plant growing in the ground has much more soil insulating its root zones. Maybe even some mulch which you've laid down, and if you're growing in containers, you need to make up that difference in some creative way There are a few things going on here in terms of plants making it through the winter in containers. And we just talked on the first one, which is you want the right plan outside in order to make it, and we'll talk in a second about what if you don't have the right plant what if you've got a bunch of roses in pots and you know they're not hardy to zones colder from where you are so So there's that the plant and then there's also the pot itself and trying to prevent that pot from breaking. Yeah and also then there is the matter of if you're think it's marginally hardy trying to protect it. So which should we start? We just touched on the plants and finding the right plant. Let's say you've got the plant in the pot and we'll come back to the material of the pot later. But let's say you have the plant in the pot and you know it's probably not gonNa make it through the winter without a little help from you. There's a couple of things you can do and the simplest thing maybe just to move that pot if you have a part that's Out in the open and you bring that up against the southern wall of your house where it gets direct, Sun all day and that Sun reflects off the wall of the House that could easily keep that pot ten degrees warmer. So that's really simple if you can move your pot to a sheltered location that sunny, it's going to get some reflected heat. That's a really easy thing to do another. Fairly easy thing to do is to put some sort of insulation around the pot. Yes and people have used bubble wrap for that quite successfully This is another great use for the large smart pots if you have a big smart pot. You can put it out. You can then put your pot inside the smart pot and the area in between Your Pot and smart pot outside you stuff with leaves. I love that idea I never thought of that and not only does the smart pot contained the leave so they don't blow all around. You know it keeps it all nice and tidy. That's number one, number two, the smart pots are black, and so they absorb Shuki of. Never. Great idea. So that's a great use for the smart parts and you could use the same smart parts that you plant your potatoes in during the summer and repurpose them to help protect a plant and or potted plant through the winter. When I was working on New York City terraces. This was something I had to deal with all the time and if I had round containers do the bubble ramp thing. I'd rapped the containers in that and then I put something attractive over at like Burlap so that it had didn't look like everything was wrapped in bubble pack and another way you can do this. If you have square containers is cut pieces of that Styrofoam Insulation Board and put them along each side and then wrapped them in burlap or else it's going to be more attractive to look at because not all pots. Of insulation value in and of themselves, right. The material they're made out of makes a big difference that is true and you know even a pot that isn't going to break those often don't have insulation value because the walls are so thin and so adding something extra can make the difference between the plan barely making it and having it come back gangbusters next year.

How to Manage Cash Flow Through Uncertainty
"Well as your company grows or looks to save money especially people expenses. It's always good to look at the best tools and process run your business. The right tools and processes can help you either scale, your business, or running more profitably hit help and Tony Ward with the President of zero for the Americas. He has twenty years of experience in senior leadership positions with global technology companies including Microsoft Australia linked in spark, serving monkey and dropbox Tony Welcome to the show. Bearing talking. So first of all, tell me how you doing doing this pandemic you and your family. Yeah, it's actually we moved here from Australia in January? So my twelve year old my wife Celts in. I would say, pretty easily the worst time deposits. Hundred Years So. One Thousand Nine Hundred Eighteen Exactly, it's all upside from your very I would agree with that. Well, a lot of small business owners right now are trying to figure out how they can more effectively run their business with better prices with cost-saving apps where do you start? On The first thing I would say is that cloud technology I think has been we'll be seemed to be a real. Savior for a lot of businesses particularly through coded and. I give you an example I think everything from the front end of Your Business. So you know looking appointments things like timely. I can see a of people using figuring out new ways to market their business like your facebook and Google. In fact, if you'll get facebook's recent results that added a million new advertisers, a lot of those are going to be small businesses trying to figure out how to get more people in the door and then things like zero put back. Then to figure out what is actually going with your business and I know everyone is all talks about Cash is king and casual super important. But when you have a shoebox little receipts, it's very difficult to figure out what's happening with cash flow. So and I, kind of you don't running out of cash is almost like. An Iceberg and the sooner you could see coming the sooner you can potentially avoid it and so things like that. Help you do that are really really important always. But in this time, even more important to figure out what's going on your business and just automate as much as you possibly can to free free up your time to work on the business versus in business I think too many small businesses. Honesty that they're gonNA try diy everything and there are certain pieces of software that you can use action at free up to do things in your business. So Tony and your point of view where you actually start because I always say that you can't do everything at one time. What's really the tip of the spear? We'll the first thing that I would do, and this is a really interesting stat when you compare the US versus other markets that were unlike strapping young candidate UK in the US around thirty only thirty percent of small businesses have an accountant or bookkeeper. It's very much a diy mentality and what I would say to people is look we we get personal trainers we get coaching all the time and our daily lives. Yes. Seventy presenting small businesses don't have a coach don't have someone to go to and really talk about their business. And when you think about it, it's a lot of small businesses of debt their house on their business yet they don't necessarily see the value or having thought about getting our coach. So I would say getting a calendar bookkeeper, get a businesses visor it's going to be the best money era we're GONNA stand. So let me ask you a question about that. Why don't people do that? Because I agree with you so many people have no idea what's financially going their business why don't they take that step? Is it that they don't think they need it or they don't want to know what's really going on. Inching. Research over the last six months in their research. It's something to do the pioneering spirit of America where people believe I can do myself do it yourself and what we're trying to say, we tried to move people from Diy d I t do it together and so our research shows us that if A small business ties zero, and they're using an accountant bookkeeper, their survival rates, Shuki sixty percent higher over five years so. Logically. You think I should do that I think part of it is people get so passionate about their dream of writing because they just get into it and usually take some sort of compelling events tax issues or whatever, and when the most secret lies are I would think you know. Clan up from what you're GONNA do and you're probably enemy our data shows you can be more successful Malaga. So that's the first thing I do. Then you're kind of bookkeepers probably GONNA look how you're running your business and and work out with software like zero and others where you making money where you're losing money record to save money. You know and right now what you should be doing is you know renegotiating with your landlord if you can't if you have physical space figuring out of their other avenues, other ways, you can actually get your product to market that maybe aren't a traditional retail sense. So you seeing things like shop with Wind Amazon just explode 'cause you know businesses are trying to figure out how can I sell more product or service in the virtual world because physical world is so challenge that Obama. Tony I wonder if these are the same people that don't balance their checkbook. I don't have the date on that, but you'd argue, yes, I think that's probably true. You know what? They say the penny look after the pennies. The dog themselves. So yeah to it's probably reasonable. It's because we're not really taught these kind of financial concepts in school. Actually it's hard to understand what the profit and loss statement says. The balance sheet says the cash flow statement says and many times there with the wrong accountant that really doesn't take time to explain to them. So they kind of keep their distance from this stuff. I think it's been a chicken and egg I think a lot of our accounts into the paper is there really they want to get into advisory services? That's all they see the growth and Really are passionate about the small businesses that they look after. Talking to some of our Council peepers, curious cove experience, they're really struggling because they're talking to small businesses who are potentially business potentially losing her house. So I think small accountants want to do this, but they kind of need to be invited into the Party needs created a couple of products lately to try to help on accounts to give a reason to actually have that conversation. So something called the business sack shot thirty castles state and our new. Features inside zero where you can literally see in real time what's going on in your business and the thirty day cash will actually give you some insights as the white new should do Ingram plain English for a small business like collect these bills. Hey, this you're gonNA run into cash unless you collect these deals unless you delayed payment of these other bills so. And one thing zero does really really. Well as we we talk in Layman's terms. I think about my Mama's a hairdresser right Sheila Ramos along for twenty five years. She didn't get a peer now or anything like that. Say we use terms like money owed money owing inside zero because like okay I kind of that because I get money all money that's oats me I don't really get profit and loss credits and debits into council I think. Financial Literacy to your point area in small business is is not great because people just want my mum's London runner hairdressing Salon. She didn't WanNa do the books and I think making it easier for people to run their business and having software advisers that that do the boring accounting stuff is really critical to successively small. Wanted to brag about financial literacy because when I sold my last business in one, thousand, nine, hundred, nine told this toward many times before I lost a million dollars off the sale of the company because I send my balance sheet nine MBA for northwestern university. So that's nothing to be proud of. It's it's really really challenging running a small business. You brand businesses I've had small businesses you spend so much of your time and effort certainly some people think are GonNa start a cafe a lifestyle. It's a lifestyle business. Alright sixty seventy, eighty hours. It's it's really really challenging. So anything that software due. To free up some your time to have more time with your family or to grow your businesses is really what we're trying to achieve. This idea of the three day cash flow because again, every business goes out of business. The exact same reason they run out of money and during the recession cash definitely slows down what suggestions would you have for small business owners for managing their cash flow during this period of time. The first thing I would do I would be really really hard core on any money that's actually ot you to collect that to be the squeaky wheel because a squeaky wheel gets the oil in this where we are right now there's a lot of money owed and certainly there are the ones that are actually really persists. are the ones that are going to get it. I'm I would be as I said before I be trying to renegotiate any kind of a large expenses that I have either get more favorable terms or reduction in order to protect your cash flow and then I would be thinking really creatively how I could get on routes to market for my product or service. So if I could I sell more online, there's really creative things that people are doing like I was talking to somebody today who they got a haircut for the first time in you know since March since the lockdown started. Your hairdresser had a physical salon. She wasn't able to have people in anymore. So she was literally going to people's houses and she said now that she probably wasn't going to reopen her physical business that this is really going to be the future of her business and then she was selling product, which you know is generally high margin she had that on. A website where she was promoting products and All the same time. I think you're gonNA see more and more of that sort of creativity. My Wife's still you know getting a personal trainer she's doing it over soon call right so she's not physically going to see this personal trainer personal trainers still making money, but they're doing it over in know a virtual environment versus a physical environment. It's really amazing because there are things that we're doing now that we never thought could be done remotely like my wife again, it's teaching Yoga classes remotely and I'm taking karate class remotely. It's really quite amazing what you can get used to. Yeah I just think it's the Sunders. Certain the research that we have is they're growing they're actually seeing this as as an opportunity and you know there are other business I really feel for you know Pasta Taliban businesses retell the that are doing it really really tough with someone are figuring out new channels new ways to do. So for sure there's GonNa be winners and losers. Like. There isn't every single economic downturn. Feel like it's kind of like a game of musical chairs things are going well in the economy. Excuse me. Things are going well in the economy and all of a sudden the music stops you don't know if you're gonNA have a chair. Yeah and I think you know the really smart service savvy entrepreneurs out. There are going to figure out ways to be successful, and there's going to be just like integrates recession. This is going to be a whole bunch of starting the kind of the hypothesis that we haggas. Particularly millennials every Neil you talked to, you seems to have some side side-hustle right and what's happening is is a lot of people are losing their their jobs, their side hustles becoming their main hustle. So you're gonNA see a whole bunch of new businesses come out of this, and some of them will be really successful on some will some won't make it, but you're definitely seeing green shoots in new businesses starting out. When should people actually choose zero? Of course the elephant in the room is always quickbooks. Why do people choose zero over quick? Book Solutions. I think one of the main reasons they choose it is very easy to use. It's very simple. It's very non accounting language. It was you know we created the category of small business cloud accounting. So we we don't have a desktop business we've always just had a class business so. It's it's built for the cloud doesn't it's not coming from the desktop and moving to the cloud. So I think ease of use. And just. Talked about being Hashtag. Beautiful. It's really nice piece of software to use very intuitive. and. One of the things I find that small business owners make as far as mistake is they don't set up a separate accounting system for their business. They just do it as an extension of their personal accounting system, which really is a problem. Yeah sickly sole-traders when they start out a lot of rooms are mixed kind of discolored business and pleasure or their personal encounter banking account. I would say that that is you know five starting a business. The first thing I do is I would set up a business bank account right and I would basically get some sort of accounting software whether it's you know zero or what have you I would look for the line of business software that is kind of the market leader in the category that I in. So you know in construction, they'd be Pro Gore finding you know running a hair salon. Be Timely find getting all my kind of soft were sorted out, and then I would find a really great accountable infect around flights ten percent of our accountable keeper channel. The people that are zero advisers are almost acting like managed service providers were there. Basically providing a stack of software plus advisory services to small businesses for a monthly fee. So the small business doesn't need to worry about. Well, what should I choose choose? Their their adviser is basically saying if you're in this particular industry, this is the the bundle of software that you need to run your business and all manage it all, and I'll help you with coaching. You run your business and I want everyone to hear what Tony is saying because to many times we don't spend any time setting up the infrastructure for our company and that's really easy these days with these cloud. APPS Tony. It's interesting. You know long time ago when Islands University announced doing. It. Guidance was eighty percent of your time. You're doing it should be planning twenty percent doing and I don't think that's much different for business I think, generally some small. Rush out and getting to it, and they don't think about the planning side of it. But if you don't build the foundations thinking about building a house with the foundation isn't rock-solid. You know, how are you going to build that twenty story building? If you have aspirations to grow your business, you gotta get the foundations down. You GotTa get a coach just set it up right from the start in your our research shows you're going to drastically improve your chances of being successful. We'll Tony I appreciate you joining the show where can people get more information about and that's spelled x. e zero? Zero DOT COM and check it out. Monocle 24: The Globalist
Martini celebrates the festive season with a limited-edition Negroni chocolate collection created by Paul A. Young
"The beloved Italian Coktail Negroni is one hundred years old this year and the Shuki pull a young has been asked by Martini to concoct brand new chocolate to mark the occasion. Well Uncles Ben. Ryland sat down with Paula. littler Elliot to talk about the creative and practical processes of marrying chocolate with such such a famous drink. Plus they enjoyed a little bit of tasting along the way I have the great privilege of being approached by fantastic brands And a half to love the brand and all I have to love the product that the brand of created and for me it has to be natural. Ashby pure and ask interesting. And I've known the Martini brand for for decades. I remember adverts in the nineteen eighties with a particular on roller skates. trae Martini and the any time any place. Any were to have a Martini so so it was. It was always a happy memory for me. So when they approach and said we've got these new reserve special and brought on Rubino for Moose my East pricked up because I'm not a beer drinker. Call volume alcohol drinker. Let one night champagne and spirits. But I like Negroni old-fashioned says bitter sweet flavors because you can have them over ice on their own stop blending them and for me. Obviously I have to blend into the chocolate. So the challenge for me was taking the two commutes on brought her which is a a number color and the Rabin which is this ruby color from youth and taste them dilute pair them with chocolate. Let's try and find a combination that celebrates negroni because the centenary celebration of Negroni without the chocolate distorting the flavors and characters in the botanical in the two Moose but also the vermouth are very complex. And they've got that distinct bitter sweetness to they can easily distort the chocolate as well so it was actually an opportunity for me to work with them on getting that balance. Absolutely right Let's take quite a long time. We always think about the delicacies Kasese that can go with a glass of wine for example. What it it's fairly common knowledge that certain foods should go with a glass of wine? Don't sit down to a lovely gloss of red wine and then and and then tuck into a box of chips not good idea that we often don't think about that same sort of methodology when it comes to pairing something something we chocolate. How do you know what goes well with chocolate? It's a really good question in two parts to it. When I when I first started in chocolate a quite few years I would be guilty? If you've ever analyzing and I think it it's the way some people take chocolate which is if you're doing it professionally or academically you do have to have a process of pinpointing and finding all of us delicate compounds flavors and tastes to the point where you're deciding whether this chocolate is fine. Quality with beans have been fermented well of picked well or and so on and so you really digging in Bolt for me when it comes down to it. I have to take it back to base level when I smell it smell texture to like the taste from beginning middle and end and Roy after the after taste does it work with ingredients and now you get people who will say what wine and chocolate hard to pair. I find it very easy to pair. That's because I've tasted a lot of chocolate and a lot of wine and I can think about those flavors starting out and you taste piece of chocolate. How would you know which one to pick their hundreds if not thousands of them on the shelf to boy Oy? It's really difficult and all I say is by and tastes and eat what you like. Try It if you think it doesn't work. You're probably right because you own your tongue on your taste spots. And if it pairs well great. An I have always with all my tastings and events set to people if you prefer eating or milk white or dark chocolate with a cup of tea fantastic few think it works for you. It probably does but when it comes down to do you like if you do great no matter what anybody else says because you a half to want to eat again and again and again I'm almost runner of the cadbury cream egg at with the woman dipping hurt chips into a cream egg. Yeah well salty and sweet is massive business. The chocolate industry tree lady is not as crazy as she looked. She has no But I I do have a box of beautiful chocolates in front of me and you just pulled me a gloss of the move which was very kind of you for this time of day. A little SIP exactly Tell me tell me first. What vermouth measuring? This has gone brought us. This is the amber colored very light fresh smell wise. I've got fruit and it has to me sympathy botanical. Medicinal that's not meant to be a negative Tiv- term. I remember as a child having buttercup Syrup as a medicine and Dundee Line serapis kind of things those botanical can pass over very successfully into a Moose yes and drinks and this has that element of bitter sweet to it which if you think about bittersweet flavor dark chocolate is bittersweet already got a really good foundation and having having having a taste It's light on the tongue but the aftertaste is really really long It's beautiful sweet as well. But not over not overpowering only switch cleverly made it very sweet not overly sweet at the beginning and then this kind of botanical bitter dryness comes in the end and the chocolate made with it is the blue and gold marbled finish which represents the best colors on the buttocks. It's a beautiful bottle. Ferry Italian design obviously and sticking with Martini brand absolutely. I think if you are familiar with the Martini a line of Vermouth e you probably would be impressed by this particular RESERVA SPATULA pull. Educate me on how I should be eating the chocolates with the truth. We've had a drink of Mussa. Still got the flavor. There have a bite of one of the chocolates list. It's the blue and gold when it has a very soft center of white chocolate. We've got some Bombay Sapphire Gin. We've the VERMOUTH in there. Got Some Madagascans chocolate. which is thought delicate fruity chocolate? And very little else the predominant ingredient in that is the vermouth because I wanted that flavor to to last on the tongue. And it's it's a gorgeous balance. The dark chocolate is just bitter sweet enough like the vermouth. Once you've had the first bite and it's melted and swallowed. I have a bit more. Vermouth just passed me. A A glass of Rabin now I suppose that means that well to be polite I would have to try some of this. You would have to try that one as well this array of full of flavor for me I get kind of a smell of time leaves and herb Leary is very very very smooth. A little a bit Rich in feeling flavor and that's represented in the chocolate as well. We've got that lovely Madagascar chocolate again. But they could nash the filling inside. I just heavier more full needs a bit more impact. Bit more strength to it. So it doesn't get lost in the Renault so now that we've had some of the redeem we should be tasting some of the chocolate or I'd have made the chocolates a half dome a very smooth surface and a dark chocolate can inside Very very different indeed this one. Yeah very dock inside and a much more pungent hit it take. It took a long time to find the right chocolates to work with the to the most because Kosta so complex for example. If you choose orange which I love chocolate and orange you instantly got. I honestly know which chocolate to put with it to get that nostalgic fail. I love chocolate orange. What this it was? Try again try again try again. It's absolutely fantastic. The opportunity to have something that is quite unusual all to work with both familiar. It's funny how I haven't had either the Vermouth to start with but the familiarity and some of the botanical in. I don't know where that's from. I'm from my many years past of tasting and eating but there is something in them and all my team who tried to. There's something in recognized but I don't know what it is. I think a lot of people might say I've I've never had vermouth on its own. I've had a Martini Shaken oster Martini or I've had it as a mix of had it in an aground. Have I had it with chocolate would would I tried it if it wasn't in the chocolate maybe not so my job and my responsibility is just to inspire people to try something different. Because that's what I've had the opportunity. It's due to create the chocolates. I think you've done very well. Thank you so much. That was really

CEO of Israeli spyware-maker NSO on fighting terror, Khashoggi Murder, and Saudi Arabia
"We look specifically at a controversial Isreaeli company called the NS. Oh group valued at nearly a billion dollars. That says it developed a hacking tool that can break into just about any smartphone on earth. NS oh licenses. This software called Pegasus to intelligence and law enforcement agencies worldwide. So they can infiltrate the encrypted phones and apps of criminals and terrorists problem is this same tool can also be deployed by government to crush dissent. And so it is the Pegasus has been linked to human rights, abuses, unethical surveillance, and even to the notoriously brutal murder of the Saudi Arabian critic, Jamal kashogi. Headquartered in the Israeli city of hurts. Leah NS oh group operates in strict secrecy, and I said to them but co founder and CEO Shalev Julio has been forced out of the shadows. And not into a good light accused of selling Pegasus to Saudi Arabia despite its abysmal record on human rights and the word is that useful Pegasus to them. And then they turned it around to get kashogi how she'll get murder is horrible, really horrible. And therefore when? I I heard they're accused nations that our technology been used on Jamaica Shuki or on his relatives. I started an immediate check about it. You yourself sold Pegasus to the Saudis fifty five million dollars. Don't believe newspapers. It's that a denial. No Pegasus is so expensive because it lets thirties do what they long couldn't break into smartphones remotely making everything in them completely visible all emails contacts and texts new old encrypted or not Pegasus allows detectives and agents to track locations, listen into an record conversations, basically turning the phone against its user in the company's eight year history. Israel's Attorney General Moves To Indict Netanyahu On Corruption Charges
"Israel's attorney general is taking steps to indict Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on corruption charges Netanyahu has a chance to respond to the allegations in court, which could take months before an actual indictment is filed, but this has jolted Israel just six weeks before an election in which Netanyahu is seeking another term NPR's Daniel estrin joins us from Jerusalem. Hi, daniel. Hi, ari. Okay. Described these corruption charges what exactly is the attorney general accusing Netanyahu of having done. Well, there are three separate cases. Here they all involve Netanyahu's relationships with businessmen. The attorney general says Netanyahu did favors for a Hollywood producer and received a quote frequent and continuous supply of gifts. The attorney general also says Netanyahu is suspected of discussing a potential deal with a newspaper publisher to help him undercut his competitor in exchange for positive press. And then there's another allegation probably the most serious one is that Netanyahu used his authority to give lucrative favors to a powerful. Businessmen and exchange the businessman's news website gave Netanyahu favorable media coverage. So now Netanyahu gets a hearing in court. He's going to try to convince the attorney general not depress these charges, but I spoke to legal experts who say criminal charges are pretty much given here we've been getting regular news updates on this investigation. Is this move towards an indictment. Surprise, right. No. We've we've known about this for a while. Now, the police have investigated and now the attorney general has deliberated for months, and he's given his answer today, and what's Netanyahu saying in response today. Well, spoken Hebrew. And you can hear him say the word fake over and over have listen to this and if combined fickle Buttler team for shooting, unload them hut will Ludd liable fulsome Shuki lies scandalous a witch hunt. He blamed the media and the left and Justice officials. So a lot of the same language. President Trump has used to discredit investigations he's facing. And Netanyahu says this is a blatant interference in upcoming elections for the attorney general to rush to announce this before the elections, basically his message is the same message. We've been hearing Netanyahu say for months, which is the left-wing is trying to topple me interesting to hear him take a page from Donald Trump's playbook there. Well, what is the opposition saying about this as the elections approach? Well, his main centrist challenger who is an army chief a former army chief for us to serve under Netanyahu. He gave a speech right after Netanyahu did and he called on him to stop attacking the Justice system to put the country's interests over his own personal interests. He said, you know, Netanyahu can't handle the affairs of of a state while also fighting in court, and he called unintentionally to step down. What are the chances are Netanyahu doing that? Well, well, Netanyahu's vows to stay in power for many years to come. That's what he said tonight and by law. He does not need to resign. He could fight his case in court and still remain in office, and that whole process could take years, but I must say that today his future looks a lot more uncertain than it's ever looked over the last ten years that Netanyahu has been in power. This is going to be a very close election. He's neck and neck with his centrist challenger, most of his right wing political allies say that they will support him for reelection.
