"This area Milwaukee becomes Shorewood Shorewood save very liberal community but one that has very high property values a lot of big houses and I think the best way to describe show what is it that it's quiet that's what it's like the lefties at all what the hell of the city they are all there all that sure what there is a police light established and was the night before in short what it wants the protesters got to thirty thirty five hundred dollars which is about the shore would lied there's a lot of police officers on the side but there are a lot with them this time to continue to move forward and as I said everything about this protest so far was peaceful so they made the decision to allow them to keep moving forward in the content or north north north north takes forever and ever and ever and they get to the big intersection the big intersection in shore what is where Oakland Avenue and capital drive meet and the police blocked up they're also blocking their blocking them from continuing further north into shore wide and they're also blocking them from going west on Capitol all right we're now past midnight so now they stop for the while they divine a horn honking and shouting and somewhat and the police had a decision to make it this is what I wanted to put you in the other guy's shoes another police involved here obviously this is going to be short would police and probably a lot of other north shore apartments that were doing assistance when I was viewing the police guys that were off to the side I saw several different jurisdictions on the island sides of the squad cars including whitefish bay.

"O'Donnell show. News talk eleven thirty w I as a couple of updates to the controversy over to kill a Mockingbird in Shorewood as the Shorewood school district has made a mockery of itself and its high school. But we can all rest easier. Knowing that the new Black Panther is are now in charge in Shorewood. According to the Milwaukee journal sentinel, the leader of the original excuse me. This is not the original Black Panthers. There's the original Black Panthers. The new Black Panthers the gray Panthers. Are they still around the original Black Panthers in Milwaukee said it didn't matter? That a threat against one of the protesters. If the group youth rising up who was arrested was seventeen years old Shorewood high school student was arrested and led to believe actually booked into the county jail Wednesday afternoon. The Milwaukee county district attorney's office is investigating as he wrote incredibly racist things on Instagram this, according to patients Phillips, the mother of one of the members of youth rising up I'm not going to say her name because I think she's a minor, and you know, what not really relevant and the the message is just incredibly awful incredibly racist. And it signed the K K K. Well, the leader of the original Black Panthers of Milwaukee. Who would like you to know that they're now in charge in Shorewood? At a press conference king. Rick said it didn't matter that the threat came from a seventeen year old especially in light of mass shootings committed by high school students across the country. King. Rick called for the student to be punished and vowed that his group would protect black children against racists and white supremacists. Who threatened violence against him? We are here to let them know that that's intolerable. It won't happen while we're on watch here. Now. I think that this is very important since the Shorewood school district has shown such an amazing lack of leadership. I believe that they must turn security detail of their high school over to the original Black Panthers. They have been so unable to keep students safe and students have been so traumatized by the mere possibility that the drama club was going to put on to kill a Mockingbird that I think we need to have original Black Panthers. Members patrolling the hallways of Shorewood highschool to make sure they can do periodic wellness checks to make sure that kids are not feeling traumatized living in this racist environment in Shorewood. You may have thought that being one of the most liberal communities in southeast Wisconsin that Shorewood would be a bastion of tolerance. It is not as evidenced by these students racist Instagram threat. I believe that we need to have a bigger. Black Panther presence in Shorewood. Hey, Brian Davis superintendent of Shorewood schools, he has abdicated his leadership on this. I moved that. We replace him with king. Rick king rip king Rick for superintendent. I will I volunteer to be king Rix campaign manager, if he launches a recall election against this Hooper intended. The parent of the student who is threatened. Meanwhile, MS Phillips says there need to be serious changes at Shorewood. She's calling for the removal of the school board president Peru Shah the superintendent Davis and the drama director Joe king because how dare this guy think that quite possibly the quintessential work about racial injustice in America. How dare he think that you could perform that in light of all the racial injustice. In america. Phillips said I want to use this moment while the students have momentum. And all eyes are on them. Philip said she's not insensitive to concerns about censorship. But we've been censored for a long time. She said we were murdered for reading now when we're able to speak people need to listen, there's a difference between censorship and human decency. And I'll be totally honest with you. If they're murdering kids for reading in Shorewood while we need the Black Panthers. More than ever to take over this school district. At his own news conference. Davis said, yes, we made an important misstep. But it was not beginning our community conversations with our district community about the production, much sooner. I knowledge and take responsibility for that miss step. You see the issue was that we didn't capitulate to the mob earlier, yet another reason king Rick needs to replace Brian. Davis says school superintendent as quickly as possible Davis is now outlining short and long term steps the district will take. So that students are never again subjected to uncensored literature. No word on whether all offending books will be burned but short term steps do include establishing a new student equity task force which involves a monthly dialogue on racial Justice. Getting. More student input on drama productions district policies and procedures as well as classroom curriculum. So this means that we are going to let the shrieking illiterates who forced the cancellation of this play to begin with. We're going to give them more power into thority over our curriculum and over our district policy of king. Rick step in and stop this madness. Now, I feel like Princess Leia right now. Help us.

"They couldn't even get the public performance because a couple of idiots stood up and screamed at this ridiculous community discussion about race that you foisted on the community. Hey, morons the play to kill a mocking bird is the discussion about race. It is truly shocking to me. A how many illiterate idiots there are in the village of Shorewood and be how poor a job Shorewood highschool apparently does in educating its idiots that they don't recognize this work for the classic piece of literature. It is all my goodness. There's a knee jerk reaction to the N word somewhere. So let's start screaming at each other and implicitly threatened violence and disorder. If you dare to put on this play. That says the exact thing you want it to about race in two thousand eighteen this is the original black lives matter work, and you've got black lives matter. Morons making absolute fools of themselves, and fools of the Shorewood community, and fools certainly of everybody at the Shorewood school district through their sheer complete and total illiteracy. And yes, I do mean illiteracy read a book for goodness sakes. Actually think about what it is. You're protesting. This is what happens, incidentally, if there are any liberals in Shorewood who are so upset about this. And who think that it's wicked conservatives like me who want to ban books and clamp down on learning and knowledge take a look at what's going on in your community and realize what happens when you try to. Appease these morons realize what happens when the far left in your community gains, a foothold and actually gains a seat at the table. They scream about nothing because they have no intelligent thoughts in their skulls other than knee jerk. Reactions to what they think they hear what they feel is a problem in society. And when you elevate this ridiculous grievance culture to the point where it can actually have a devastating impact on community. Because I will tell you that there are Shorewood high school kids who are devastated that they worked for three months to put on this performance. And they're going to have a dress rehearsal in front of family and crew members. Why because the moron standing up and screaming about white privilege might make a scene outside the school. This is what happens when you capitulate. This is what happens when you give into this cry bully culture, they are able to bully you into submission. And there is a distinct lesson here for you old school Democrats in Shorewood, maybe you came of age during the first wave of radicalization in the nineteen sixties in one thousand nine hundred seventies. And now you're looking on with disgust that every single value you held dear about freedom of expression is being destroyed by the generation of lefties that you raised because these people are absolutely insane. And their stupidity knows. No bounds. Tom in Kenosha. You're up first on the Dan O'Donnell show. Good show. When is the American psychological association to finally label, liberalism as a mental illness. From what you see what's going on here. These people are not. There is I don't know if they're nuts. I think they're stupid. I think honestly, the the line I opened the week by saying this when this fee Lasko or maybe this was late last week. When we first started about this fiasco, a great line from the Simpsons, and it's an aide to diamond Joe Quimby, and the mayor of Springfield saying are these idiots getting dumber or just louder? And the aid goes dumber, sir. We do. Have this Email, dear parents, guardians students the drama directors and administration agree that at this point? There will be no public performance of to kill a Mockingbird Wednesday. Ten seventeen eighteen due to mental and emotional health of our entire student body related to the production. There will be a dress rehearsal for family of the cast and crew members. Only more details surrounding this decision will be communicated later on Wednesday. Way to go. Bravo. Let's get a standing ovation for the superintendent of Shorewood schools Brian Davis for making your entire school district, the laughing stock of the entire nation. Congratulations. Well done, sir. Take a well. Deserved. Bow. Let's go to Bob in new Berlin who used to live in Shorewood. How're you doing Bob? I'm good. Thanks. I I have friends who still live there, and I like to kind of needle them because they're they're liberal and having lived there. My daughter was dating a black man who was pulled over for not having a license plate on his bicycle and asked where you're going who are you seeing? So my point is having lived there. I can tell you this that Shorewood is a bastion of white privilege where a bunch of rich white liberals live in security because they have a police force that is hyper vigilant toward black people. And that's just one example. There were many many examples I could give you a bicycle was stolen out of a garage. It was returned to us the four we even knew it was gone because the police onto black kid with bicycle and he came to our house and said, are you missing a bicycle and? My wife said, well, we'll check and sure enough. We were we we got it. We didn't even have to call the police together Blake back because they are hyper vigilant, and it's an island of white privilege that he's hypocrites live in and live in comfort and there, it's an island, basically. Well, thank you very much for the phone call Bob, it is it is what happens when liberalism gains control over anything incompetence and capitulation to a mob mentality. And that's what this is. This is what we saw at the Cavanaugh hearings writ somewhat smaller in the community of Shorewood. This is what I call zombie politics. These are brainless people clawing at the doors. This time of the Shorewood auditorium, demanding whatever it is that they think has wrong to them to. He rectified, let's go to Greg in Waukesha. You're on the Dan O'Donnell show. Hey, how's it going? Good, greg. What's up? You know, I just kind of generalizations about people being your literate and whatnot and Sherwood. I think it's a little over the top. And Likewise, I think this guy that just called and saying that, you know, it's bashing a white privilege over the top as well. I mean, no question they got a liberal bias in Shorewood. And no question that the minute someone do you think anyone who is protesting to kill a Mockingbird has ever read the book? Okay. I think I think the administrators at school or spineless too. And I think that's a recurring theme that we've seen a minute. There's a little bit of heat. They backed down. You know, obviously, if they're educators, they probably have a little bit of a liberal violence by two. So they're open to that. You know, what we need to have people stand up and say, no, we're going to do this kid's worked hard. We're gonna have this thing. We're gonna put it on. It does say the send the right message. What would you call somebody? I want to get back to your original point. Yeah. I want to get back to your original point, though, that it's that it's over the top to say that people who don't understand what it is that they're protesting, and they essentially want a book band, they wanna performance band. They don't want this. What would you call them? If they didn't read the book, if they have no understanding of the work that it is they want to ban. What would you call them? I'm just saying that it's not a inappropriate to say that but the generalize for the whole community. Generalize. I said the people specifically who are saying they don't want this performance to be played. They don't want this performance to go out. Okay. I accept your apology. And I understand what you're saying in Shorewood is a bastion of white privilege. I mean, the the demographics don't lie the statistics don't lie. It is overwhelmingly white, and it is overwhelmingly liberal. And so I guess I sort of get the complaint, but I think it's a sort of knee jerk reaction. I stand by that if you are looking to ban, a work of art that you have not read I will call you a literate because I think you are. In fact, I would actually if I wasn't so sure that any of the people who were looking to get this production cancelled, which is go on my radio and scream like a bunch of band cheese, and possibly swear. And ironically enough probably used the very language that they're looking to protest. I'd have them on. And I would just quiz them about the book. I'd seriously love to know how many people have read it. And the fat. I understand that. There are always going to be the dumbest ten to twenty percent of society. Who? Will raise I always go back to the Simpsons here. They they furrow their brows in a vain attempt at understanding that I believe is a line from principal Skinner, and they're going to protest. They're gonna scream about what they don't understand simply because of their misunderstanding of it. There is. I'm not even going to say that this is willful ignorance, that's the only way I can describe this willful ignorance not wanting to hear the other side. But just wanting to scream more of your phone calls coming up next. You're listening to the Dan Donald show..

"Couple of classic works that the Shorewood school district should be banning. In addition to. To kill a Mockingbird Romeo. And Juliet cannot be performed in Shorewood because of its insensitivity surrounding the issue of suicide. Homer's the odyssey. Performed because of its glorification of imperialism. Similarly, the Iliad for its glorification of war. The great Gatsby cannot be performed because of its improper worship of the top one percent and unfettered capitalism. Little women. Cannot be performed because under no circumstances are women or women's issues. Little. Your phone calls Therese on Milwaukee's south side. You're on the Dan O'Donnell show. Good morning, Dan. I am outraged. And I'd like to make three point please. Do there is a body of research that demonstrates the correlation between academic achievement and student involvement in the visual and performing arts. This is how you build self esteem. Secondly, what a missed opportunity to not missed opportunity to have a panel discussion regarding this topic and to process, the performance explaining the context of language and the culture of that time. And lastly, why at the eleventh hour, this is outrageous. It's a dumbing down of America. You just lifted another a list of books. What are we doing to American literature to the classics? This is outrageous. It is a disservice. It is disgusting. It is the most disgusting thing in education that I've heard in a long time. Thank you very much. Theresa those are all excellent points. And I. I hope from from your mouth to the Shorewood school districts ears here. I mean, it's not too late folks, if you want to do the right thing and allow these kids to pour their hearts out on stage allow your community to come together. Around work that celebrates diversity that celebrates social Justice that celebrates all of the ideals that you claim to support that you claim to work towards it's not too late to cancel that show. And I guarantee there will be standing room only crowds. The local media will be there. I'm sure the Shorewood police department will ensure that the protesters are doing so peacefully. I am sure. That this would send a strong message to the Shorewood community all of southeastern Wisconsin. And really the entire nation which is watching. Now, this story has been picked up by national outlets. And in fact, I forwarded it on to the editors that I know at Fox News. So take a wild. Guess what's going to be covered tonight? If there's time on Laura Ingram and those sorts of shows. There's still time put the play on let those kids. Let those kids show their community their talent, isn't that the whole point? In arm in the producers room chanting. Let them play let them play. Let them play by the way, we've come up with another couple of works that the short would school district needs to ban immediately. Tom sawyer? Because Tom kissed Becky Thatcher without her consent and that, ladies and gentlemen, promotes rape culture Dante's inferno. Because obviously, you cannot mix church and state in public schools. And would this be since dotty, obviously prefers Paradiso over purgatory. Oh and inferno. Would this be would this be an improper improper embrace of God and spirituality in our schools. Our friend Perfecto Rivera who hosts velour Latina heard every Sunday morning right here on W. I S and great friend of the program on the phone Perfecto. What's going on my bud? Well, Dan, I was listening to the show. And you know, I believe what you just said. I cannot believe that there are so many ignorant adults in Shorewood to kill a Mockingbird. I will tell you. I saw that movie when I was in junior high school for the first time, it has been and still is my favorite movie Volk. My kids have watched it by grandchildren have watched it, and it's all for educational process for them to teach them tolerance to teach them love of people, regardless of their color and a good looks like was it the young man of Donna that you said in Shorewood. Yes, we'll Donna. And I wanna I wanna play a Perfecto his quote again because he gets it. He's in this performance. And he was saying the N word as you know, part of a script here. He is. It was difficult for us to say because.

"The Shorewood school district has pulled the plug on the high school's production of tequila Mockingbird. Just hours before the opening night performance last night students say it was like being punched in the summit sadness is the first reaction three hours away from us opening and just to hear it's hard. Why was the performance canceled because there are racial slurs in the script the drama club had warned the audience online with the description of the play from the Shorewood school district's website saying that the play is set in Alabama in the nineteen thirties. It was first published in nineteen sixty and reflects it difficult and ugly time in American history. The issues of racism and segregation are prevalent to accurately and honestly complete the narrative the N word will be used in the production. The fact that our society still struggles to truly embrace racial equality symbolizes that our work is not done that. Harper Lee's Mockingbird is as relevant in twenty eighteen as it was in one thousand nine hundred sixty when the story was published. However, the school district cowered in the face of planned protests of that production and issued a statement this Shorewood drama production of tequila Mockingbird has been canceled for all three nights of production. October eleventh twelfth and thirteenth due to concerns regarding potential protests related to the production. We've concluded that the safest option is to cancel the play. The district should have done more outreach to engage in dialogue about the sensitivity of this performance with the Shorewood in Greater Milwaukee community moving forward. The district will continue to encourage staff and students to engage in meaningful performances. Surrounding contemporary issues with the appropriate amount of outreach and dialogue. So the only way. To ensure safety. Is to kowtow before the mob, and is that mob getting louder or dumber dumber, sir. As it is impossible. I believe to more thoroughly missed the point of to kill a mocking bird. Then these social Justice morons have done the play which is based on the novel by Harper Lee, which won the Pulitzer prize and made Li an immortal even though to my knowledge he never published anything else during her lifetime that was her first novel. And the only thing the only story she ever really published until a sort of sequel was published posthumously, and there was a big legal fight over that a few years ago after Lee passed away at the age of something like ninety six Harper Lee's novel was the original black lives matter movement. I don't think it can be underestimated the power that that novel had during a time of deep segregation and deep resentment and at the beginning of the civil rights movement in this country to push people towards acceptance. In fact, the entire message of the novel and the movie, which I believe won the Oscar I'm fairly certain Gregory, Peck, won best actor for his performance of Atticus Finch, the whole point of it is to promote acceptance the entire point is to point out systemic injustice in the segregated system of Justice in the deep south for those unfamiliar with the story, including I'm assuming the overwhelming majority of idiots who plan to protest, and I'm assuming the superintendent of Shorewood public schools and anyone else involved in this decision to cancel for those unfamiliar with. The story it centers around the Finch family Atticus Finch, the town attorney and noble man, and a widower is trying to raise his two young children JEM and scout both. Obviously, he is appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man who is falsely accused of rape Atticus realizes this almost immediately. And even though the town comes to Lynch, Tom in his jail cell Abacus stands up for him and his kids JEM and scout actually dispersed the mob by reminding them of their humanity. Which in turn gets them to reflect on Tom's humanity. Well, as the trial progresses, it becomes increasingly clear as Atticus works. His magic in the courtroom that the victim is lying weirdly enough. I was told that rape victims never never never miss identified their attackers. This of course, is work of fiction and in this work of fiction. The young woman is friendless, and she makes advances at Tom her alcoholic father gets very upset with this because it's. Inappropriate in his eyes and in truth in many areas. It was illegal to have a consensual relationship between a black man and white woman. So he along with her concocts this story that Robinson forced himself upon her willingness plea to the all white all male jury Atticus Finch during closing arguments reminds them that the race of the defendant and the race of the accuser is irrelevant. That Justice is in this great nation blind, gentlemen. This country. Courts of.

"To have you with us crews producing the show today and always do you know what it is. To be a sanctuary city Not. Totally that's an honest answer because I'm not exactly. Sure what, that means either and the reason is, because it means different things to different people and different communities there are also, consequences for being a sanctuary city for example if you are a true sanctuary city it, is possible that you might lose access to. All sorts of federal funds which is, why, the, Milwaukee county board passes a resolution. Saying that they're a sanctuary city but then win that puts funding at risk they quickly run in and they say oh no we don't care what we're saying we're really not a sanctuary city in its, most pure form. To be a sanctuary city means essentially that you will not cooperate with the federal government in trying to deport someone who is in the country Illegally that is in it's most purest form if you are in the country illegally don't, worry come. Here and we will give you sanctuary we will not cooperate with the. Immigration people we will direct our law enforcement personnel to say that if you are. Picked up on another crime we will not contact. You will, not contact the federal authorities you will, not honor federal detainers detainers is where somebody ends up in the local jail, or the county jail and the immigration people come in with a whole saying look at, the person bails out or the person is. To be released contact us the taint, him, we, will come then pick him or. Her up in a purest form that's what it means to be a sanctuary city essentially you will not cooperate with the federal government when it comes to trying to deport elite people in this country illegally I think around here The probably the only real community that comes close to being a so called sanctuary city is sure what People's Republic of Shorewood Shorewood says that we will comply with our legal duties, under applicable federal law but we won't work with customs or ice or border patrol beyond what the bare minimum is that. We're supposed, to do for example Shorewood says it police officers are not to detain a person for civil violation. Of federal immigration law the policies also say that no individual should be held based solely on a federal immigration detainers unless the person has been charged. With. A federal, crime okay so that's that's the closest we have around here to, a true sanctuary, city but, some places. New York San, Francisco they just say we're not. Going to cooperate period and if that means that We have arrested somebody for a serious offense and the feds want him and he's. Due to be released we're just gonna release him and if he kills someone well we're going to be willing to live with that like I say there are consequences for being a sanctuary city including and, it's an ongoing series of lawsuits is to how far the federal government can go in cutting off funds I think would. Ultimately is, going to happen is you might see a series of laws that are passed making it very clear. That if cities do not cooperate with federal law enforcement agencies that it's very clear that they can lose funding right now though that it's a matter. And. Working its, way through the court now why do I talk about sanctuary cities, because Walla tosa, Walwa tosa, of all. Places is apparently, getting ready to have a conversation. Considering jumping in to this Mess there is a new older woman Heather that keel cool who was elected in April and she is proposing that woah tosa adopt a sanctuary city ordinance all right she says that she's been watching what has been unfolding and feels, that the community needs to step up this is you folks, out, in Warwick tosa he says there's been so much fear and. Division, around this she sees this as an opportunity to share information, can other words let's make Warwick tosa a haven for people who are in the country illegally She says, all right well this is the idea I want. A commitment that the police in Warwick tosa is. Not gonna work, in partnership with the immigration people and the FBI to identify in custody aliens We're. Not going to, prosecute people for crimes they were. Going to, prosecute, people for crimes they commit and their immigration status should matter etcetera etcetera. The wall Walworth tosa police chief berry Weber who's been there forever he says like. I'm, not in favor of this he says look we don't normally, check the immigration status of people come into, contact with I see. The role of our department to enforce the statutes ordinances of our cities however, if, we come into contact with violent offender ordinance or not we would take. The appropriate. Law enforcement action which means all, right, you, know if this is somebody. That we've determined in this country illegally well yeah. We're going, to cooperate with the federal government to get the person, deported all right let's thi, this up, four one, four, seven nine nine one. Six twenty that is the accurate mortgage talk and text line now again being a sanctuary city means different things to different people but in its purest form It, is you do not cooperate with the federal government when it comes to. Immigration enforcement if it is something that you are absolutely required to do by law. Maybe, you will do it San Francisco backs off on that but, it is this is this something that's good, for while the tosa. Now again if wall would tosa were to do this my guess is they, would, be putting at least potentially at risk all sorts of dollars that they. Might getting. Either from the federal government or, from, the, state government but you know. Maybe they can win a lawsuit about that maybe. They, can't, four one four seven nine nine one six twenty should, Walla tosa become a sanctuary City would that be a, good idea let's discuss. I will tell you where I come down on?.
