"Doing pretty well for yourself. But also in the market. Of course. As well, New York Giants. Yeah, exactly. Thank you. If you're in a giant sprout office, you're like, hey, we ain't gotta get 40, 45, 50, 60, article came out this week that people think burrow and who else would be I just Brown another quarterback would be up. Where they could kind of look and command and say, yeah. 45, 50 million. Perches up hurts. Yeah, 45, 50 million. So you're getting a deal with Daniel Jones, but if you're the Giants, just to take away, listen, you had a great year. You ran into a bus saw, you ran into the best team, one of the best in my opinion, if not the best team in the league. And on a road to the playoffs, you got to play off one against Minnesota. This is what it is. This is the process. Get to the off season, use your draft picks, get guys back, make some different moves, and shoot back up in August, so let's go at it again. So kudos to them, but Philly man, like a machine, brother. I think Philly, I think they can win it all. I think they have that type of team. I mean, they're in the conference championship. I'm 7, 8 weeks, though. It's nothing new. There's nothing with you. Yeah, I know, man. You know what though? It really is starting to get to people with no football. Let me tell you something, BJ. It took me an hour to get up here. Yeah, tell me. What happened to me an hour from Inglewood to Sherman oaks, which I know this is if you're not in Southern California, it may not hit, but it's only 13 miles. I traveled, right? Not evolution take you by half an hour, 45 minutes, in LA. It took me a solid hour. Wow. I barely made it in. And the reason why. And if you could hear my voice and you're on the four O 5, near the pole in the past, get off, buddy, because you're going to be there for a minute. There is a woman. Hanging from the speed limit sign in the middle of the freeway. This is a 6 lane freeway going north and south. It's 12 lanes of traffic here. And you know what? Cops just sitting there with the lights on. I'm like, why don't you go get this woman? Go get her out of here. So I can get to work. Nah. Bang joined the show too. Clearly, as

"So what was it you told me, what is her statement that I wanted to analyze? Yeah. Karen Bess said something. Bummer. I got so taken in the back. Not taking aback. I got so preoccupied with explaining a liberal. I have difference. I will get back to Karen Bass, the new man. Oh, yes. Yes, she has announced you didn't tell me this. She has announced that we can't just house the homeless in non affluent areas. Did you hear that announcement? No. So when she starts forcing Beverly Hills, while Beverly Hills is not Los Angeles, okay? So encino or Pacific palisades. Or give me more rich areas, Brentwood, in LA. Bel Air, sure, well, Sherman oaks is wealthy. All right, great. All right, so that's the valley. She starts putting homeless into those neighborhoods. People who voted for her, the rich voted for her. It will be very interesting for sociologists to analyze the reaction of these people.

"Because I have certain amount of time. I like to micromanage the overnight show, so I have to prepare, I have a certain amount of time. Instead of spending a couple minutes eating lunch in a park, I spend another 30 minutes going from Burbank to Sherman oaks. So, 'cause I got caught in rush hour. Now I'm two hours in traffic. And I haven't really done. I had a meeting. That was, so I make the decision on the fly here. This is very important. So I make the decision on the fly. I'm like, but I still need to eat something because I need to break my fast and then start my next fast. So I had some food that my wife had been kind enough to prepare for me. So I then decided that I would just go to the Sherman oaks facility and I would eat my meal in my car. So I scarfed down a pastrami sandwich on the fourth floor of the parking garage, this is the life of a radio star day. This is the life. Of a radio star. By myself in a car on a hot day in Sherman oaks, eating a pastrami sandwich and having some chips. And now I did notice, and I don't see this at night when I come in there, a lot of hippie looking people doing hot yoga. Oh yeah. It was a lot of that. And some of them look swarthy. Some of them look slim, some of them look lizard. Yeah, I noticed there were a lot of very thin people that I thought, instead of going here, they should probably be eating the pastrami sandwich that I'm eating. But whatever. And there are a couple of good-looking people, a couple really ugly people. You know, whatever. It's a mix. You go to the hot yoga thing. I have no interest in. You ever done hot yoga? I've never been to regular yoga. Yeah. No, I know some of the yoga moves because they're funny. Like the double down dog or whatever that is, so those things are funny. But so anyway, I'm like, okay, I've eaten my lunch now. I've started my next fast. I'm like, okay, I'm going to prepare for the show. And I was like, I don't want to be bothered. If I go to the first floor, I'm going to be bothered. And people are nice. They want to talk to me. So I'm like, I don't want. So I said, okay, I'm thinking in my head, like there have been a lot of movement in the premiere networks facility because of there's a move that's going to happen. It's going to take a long time because of wiring and so anyway, I'm like, okay, I think we have studios on one of the floors where where and actually parked next to the George nori. So I knew that he had he was there, the host of coast to coast.

"I remember the old building down in koreatown. And then they got the new building in Sherman oaks. We're not Sherman oaks. Burbank. Burbank, yeah. Yeah, I've been in the new building. The atrium is forced. All radio stations look the same to me if you ask me. They're all the same. Take your tie is open. Is tiki Thai ours? Is that what it's called? Oh, that's the one you were talking about. That's the one in LA. It's still open, closing. Yeah? Yeah. Let's all go down. You can get a tropical drink for only about 28 bucks. See ya. Okay, take care. Thank you for letting me be your personal tech guy once again. I appreciate it. Thanks, professor Laura. Our musical director was Jeremiah yesterday. Thanks to both of them, thanks, of course, to Kim schaffer, who's here each and every day with a different dog. I don't understand it. She manages to find a different pooch for every show. Thanks to you. And what's his name again? Mclovin. Mclovin. All I super bad. Yeah, no, I remember the movie. Absolutely. And he looks exactly like McLaren. So you can tell that his owner is about a 36 year old male. You can tell by animal names, can't you? Yeah. Thank you, Kim. I appreciate what you do for us. Thanks to all of you for joining us. For listening, of course, and calling in. Wouldn't be much of a call in show if you didn't. So you have my deepest appreciation. Pretty lucky I get to do this. For a living, even well sort of. Done from Southern California. Hi, Don. Hi. Thanks for letting me ask you these questions. Of course. I have a relative out of state in his late 80s. I want to loan him a Chromebook. Okay. So and I can do zoom. What a great idea. The problems I'm running into are there's so many varieties of these a range from $87 to $499. All he needs to be able to do is email, zoom, and FaceTime. Can't do FaceTime on a Chromebook, unfortunately. Okay, that's fine. That's an apple only technology, but you can do zoom in the browser. The thing about Chromebooks, you probably know this is that they only can do what you can do in chrome. But zoom because of that zoom has really don't know anything about Chromebooks. Advanced photography and video and all that on a Windows unit. But judging from what you've said, the Chromebook is perfect for him. Yeah, is he going to do anything else besides the video calls? Just email and zoom is fine. Okay. He also lives in a home with a bunch of other teenagers and I want to keep their hands off of a Chromebook is a good choice because even if the teenagers got hold of it, you could wipe it and that's my next question is I'll probably want to keep the master password giving a user account. You don't have to do that with a Chromebook. You don't have to do that with a Chromebook. That's of course what we do with more general purpose operating systems. But there is no administrator account on a Chromebook. It is his Google account. So what you'll do is you'll set up a Google account for him. If you already get Gmail, he already has a Google account, and that's all he needs..

"Have just wrapped up the week with a pull back on the latest reading on consumer confidence, showing its holding near a 10 year. Low financial storm clouds gathering in China's massive real estate sector as well as credit markets also now getting investors attention. We're also watching what's happening in Washington, with worries about higher taxes weighing on the market all week, but now came in for closing loss of 166 points. And down the 0.1% for the week sliding, though for the third week in a row, the NASDAQ gave back 138 points in the S and P 500 slipped 41 coming up later this hour. I'll talk about the latest dramatic developments in China involving their real estate giant Evergrande reported to be on the brink of collapse. With China expert Gordon Chang joining us this hour. My club and bar owners in Los Angeles among those facing new mandates requiring proof of covid vaccinations for patrons and employees all discuss the latest with Angela Martin. Local small business hero, owner of the Pineapple Hill Saloon and Grill in Sherman Oaks, but first on the markets and the economy Bitcoin kryptos China retailers consumer confidence all the hot stories this week with us now John Nigerian Doctor J as he's known on CNBC co founder Market rebellion. It's got the laser eyes on two following Kryptos closely, John to Jerry in. Thank you very much for joining us here live to cap off another eventful week, and I know you've had a big week of conferences and broadcasts and schmoozing and so forth. How are you doing this evening? No. Well, thank you, Frank. Yeah, I've been at the Salt Conference, which is that alternative asset conference in Washington Army rather than New York City. And of course, I had this squeeze in Mo Tech on money every single day, because I never miss it, Frank. Thank you for that. You are Prince were coming on this evening. Live with us to cap off this eventful week and certainly, uh, the markets and focus pulling back a bit this week and concerns about taxes and, of course, this China Potential meltdown scenario next week. Give us your view of the latest market action here. Well, I think a lot of it is, uh, a little more, Uh, Just salacious than it is substantive. Uh, by that, Frank, I mean that, you know, of course. Uh um Macron pulling back various Uh, what? Diplomats from the United States because the United States sold nuclear, Uh, submarines. I'm sorry. Nuclear submarines. Thank you, sir. To Australia vs France Selling those nuclear subs. There's still going to be made in Australia. Regardless, um I think a lot of that is like I say, rather salacious, but not really. That different from what it would have been had France been building those submarines and so as far as China and their reaction to it I think they're probably a little concerned only because they thought that they had the French deal that probably would have taken longer to get nuclear submarines and just so everybody in the area knows, of course. This is not a nuclear armed submarines. These are submarines powered by nuclear energy, and France is an expert at providing that, as is the United States as his great Britain. And this sounds like it'll be the United States and great Britain supplying that. But you're exactly right when you mentioned crypto and laser eyes and all that sort of stuff, Frank. At that Salt conference in New York City this week again, they call it salt. It's the Skybridge Alternative Asset Conference in New York City. Um, first time ever in New York. It was great to see so many people face to face instead of just Masked up and or over zoom calls and so forth. But crypto was definitely top of mind there, Frank. The, uh folks like Sam Blankman freed the creator of FT. X Which has become one of the fastest growing largest crypto exchanges on Earth, and of course, they have the naming rights for the Miami Arena. They used to fall to American Airlines. Now it's the F T X Arena. Um, there's just a lot of interest in this space from Ray Dalio all the way to every single person that got on stage. At the event. They were talking about crypto. So the fact that you mentioned laser eyes and crypto that is a big part of what's going on, Frank. Thanks for highlighting that and also regulation of kryptos making news again with the SEC chair, making some comments again. What do you see a head on the regulatory front and Mike that pull the rug out from under what we're seeing. Well, for instance, Ray Dalio, the head of Bridgewater, one of the largest Asset managers on Earth. Blackstone, of course, are a Blackwater rather is one of the largest, but, um, the fact that Dalio over at Bridgewater Was talking about crypto and saying it becomes even more successful. The government could go after them. You can't really shut it down, though, Frank. I mean, the thing is about crypto that you'd have to shut down the Internet to shut down crypto. Various jurisdictions have tried to block it, and it is only caused it to become even more, uh, interesting to the populist in that particular region. Whether it's Korea, Japan, India Every place that's tried to stop it. Um, it has continued to grow at a faster pace. Because people are then all the more convinced that they're right. That the government doesn't want them in this particular asset, which may or may not be a currency. But it's certainly an alternative asset to gold or real estate or stocks, And lately it has been outperforming, and the markets just kind of trading sideways. And I've got some reasons for that. I believe very interesting. And we also heard from the Black Rock of fund managers saying he's cut gold holdings to almost zero, uh, saying that there are better hedges against inflation in the equity market. Uh, is, uh, Bitcoin considered a good hedge against inflation. What are your thoughts about using a kryptos as a hedge against inflation? I think you're exactly right. And it is, I think Kryptos in particular Bitcoin a limited, uh, supply causes it to be more deer as people look for assets that can't be made worth less again. Not worthless, as Warren Buffett is famously said, but worth Less going forward, And I think a lot of people really focus on the idea that kryptos and in particular Bitcoins with that limited supply. Could really be, um, and alternative asset class. Many of us believe it is already and certainly the interest has really never been higher. And so I'm looking for Significant gains through the end of the year in particular, Frank if next Wednesday when the Fed meats I suspect on the 22nd of September, they will not increase. Uh or not increased rates. Of course, they won't do that. But I do suspect that they will Put off the decision on the tapering as far as the number of the supply of assets that they purchase. Um I think they will start. Uh, that process in November, not September. 22nd. So they'll ask for more time to evaluate how employment data is shaping up as well as inflation and retail data. Retail great this week. Um, Michigan sentiment. Not so great last week. Of course, it was employment. Not so great, So I think there's a lot of focus by the Fed. And a lot of those members of the Fed would like. At least one more, uh, bite of the apple, and I think they're likely to since we do not have an October fed meeting. That means that the focus is really on November, not September. 22nd. You're absolutely right to highlight the big event next week that Fed policy meeting and the statement on the economy and the decision on interest rates and then a full blown the news conference from the Fed chairman Jerome Powell. That'll be a big event in the week ahead. As far as the kryptos are concerned, we see Bitcoin right now I see hovering above 47,003 about 3400 does 24 cents as some of the other coins. And of course, that list keeps getting longer and longer had a big week like Adam Cosmos. For example, which I That was mentioned on the CNBC as well. What? Uh, All those names are maybe more which are getting your attention these days. Well, I sat down with one of the founding team at Hadera, which is, uh A crypto. That symbol is H B, a. R and, um, that's a coin that is up from two cents to now 58 cents or even higher. I haven't seen in the last couple hours, but It has made us spectacular run to the upside. That's not uncommon with these kryptos. If indeed they have use cases that extend beyond just, you know, sports memorabilia or in FTS, even though those are extremely popular areas, and FTS, of course, helped drive Solana Along with some of the high frequency trading that you can do on S O l. Solana. Um I think a lot of folks are really focused on the real use cases for these top 10 or top 20 kryptos. Of that. That is one of the ones that we were trading a lot this week. Uh, Hadera hash graph or H B A R, and I think it's got a great future. Looks like 42 cents here. Just pulled it up..

You showed up physically but you're not here. You're know not if you don't if you're not willing to play. Then i think they would have the right to withhold or not. I mean you could talk about whatever you want. Was aaron rodgers at training. Camp day one. Great he was there. He's still not totally happy but he's there a practicing with his teammates. He's playing you wanted the other. What you're retiring chris. Retiring could you don't wanna play there and they hold onto your right for the length your contract and after that's up you can go play somewhere else or you gotta play ball. That's just how it is. That's what you signed the contract. You gotta play ball twenty six years old rob. They have his rights. Until these thirty. What i mean they. They don't have to trade him now. Obviously he's an asset if he gets through the legal issues fine. he's able to play. There are no concerns about his future. He's an asset. So yeah you you might wanna just trade him and get something for him but they don't have to do that like is he willing.

I feel like because it's $5000 it. It's glaring that they have no idea what real people have gone through in the past year. I mean, like it's condescending, it Z tone deaf. If you just look at Perry's businesses, she owns two bars Sherman Oaks in Hollywood in the last 12 months. A bar like this has been allowed to open for a quick periods of time, right? Just for a few weeks at a time at the same time, $9000 in rent that has to go unpaid. I'm sorry. You're right, 90,000 and rent that goes unpaid simply because they don't have any money coming in. She was able to open indoor dining at 25% capacity and The income has doubled since then, from what it was, you know, basically just dripping in, but she's so far. Behind on rent and things like that. That $5000 Doesn't make any difference here some more perspective Woman by the name of Atika and Seaso, owner of a studio blow in North Hollywood. She opened it. About three years ago, She went to bring an upscale salon to the area where she grew up, and in the first two years she saw stable growth. This is her life investment. And everything obviously changed when the outbreak hit, she says. Sales plummeted from $165,000 a month to $20,000 a month. She's accumulated 80,000 in debt she had to downsize. She had to move to a new location after dispute overran and all of that is just Making it worse, adding expenses for the businesses that was for her business, which was again deemed non essential and told to close for nine months the optics of somebody at City Hall, who has spent his entire life as a rich kid and politics in a political family, saying that he's going to give a business that is Down, you know $100,000 in debt $5000. The optics are horrible because you're basically standing at City Hall with a megaphone, saying, I don't know how real people live. That he and I don't even care to find out the idea that the mayor Hi. Listen, there is a finite amount of money available to the mayor to do something right? So that that I understand, But the smart thing would have been to go get those women that we just highlighted and have them with you at City Hall and say, Listen, I know that she has down from 200. They're a firm $170,000 a month to $20,000 a month. I know that this woman is $100,000 in debt from back rent. We need to figure out what to do. I'm listening. I want to hear what would help Businesses. How? How can I get you back on your feet as soon as possible? That would mean more to me than saying Here's $5000. Be happy recovery from something like this is expensive because it's not. It's not like March of last year, doors were closed. Everybody went home and stayed quiet and there were no expenses, if even if that was the case Reopening would cost money. But we're talking about reopening with tens of thousands, if not more, added debt to something that you were already struggling with. Restaurants allowed to increase their capacity and they can continue to operate outdoors. So the cost for employees continue to climb. Right. You're gonna have to hire more people to come back at a time when you simply do not have the capital to do so. And a $5000 check Is going to pay for a week, maybe of the new employees and their payroll. It's just it's I don't like the idea of requiring the government to get involved with this sort of a thing. Parents outraged after maskless child actors seen at film shoot at Los Angeles school despite campus closure

"Local parents in Sherman Oaks were surprised this week. They saw kids on campus at Kester Elementary School. The school was serving as a location for an Apple TV commercial. That's been confusing for some parents since L. A unified has kept all its campus is closed during the pandemic. Jenny Hans is a mom and the communications director for a grassroots parents workers that organization called Speak up. She told CBS to that other parents in the neighborhood were shocked to see the school's hallways crowded with kids. L U. S D is allowing dozens of kids on campus to work and do a shoot for Apple TV, But they say it's unsafe to have kids on campus to learn what on Earth. This is completely insane, says she doesn't understand why the district can't open back up since they have universal testing and contact tracing in place. Response. L U. S deep says filming falls under different government health standards than in person learning. That's why the state allows for filming on school campuses.

And good morning on a Saturday Bill Handel here as we start the legal show with Phone number as always, 100 5 to 01534. That's the phone number of the top of the hour, and it's always the best time to call. And as I always tell you, I'll either be asking for phone numbers in the next 20 minutes, because I just don't have enough coming in. This is a caller driven whole show is, you know it's kind of hard to do this show without people calling in During the week. I never take phone calls, because, frankly, it's exhausting abusing people. Five days a week, one day a week. It's not so bad. And so it'll either go from okay here. The phone numbers Please call where I don't even talk about you calling for two hours because I have the line so full, so 800. 5 to 01534 is the number to call on the Saturday S so you don't have to do I have any announcements to make. I do not. Um, No, no, that's all right. All right. Show's over. Thank you. Everybody so much. Thanks for listening. Here we go. This is handle on the law. Marginal legal advice Where I tell you, You have absolutely no case. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma! Yes, Uh, a house bill that was introduced this past week by a representative Justin Humphrey. Wanted to draft rules and dates and hunting licenses and fees s Oh, it's effectually expanding hunting licenses. To create a big foot hunting season. I am not kidding. What Humphreys wanted to do is because you could only bag so many big feet. Is that it? Bigfoot's What's the plural Bigfoot big feats? Whatever. In any case, Uh, let me think of my dad just like mice and Meese. Big feet. It's I think it's feet. Sorry. I think it's really no feed. Okay. God. Thank you. A little, uh, It's well in any case just for this laughter off in the background and So I mean, for real I you would think that you know, it's like salmon fishing is like deer season. You could only bag so many and there's a limit. I think I don't know I haven't read the bill yet, but I think you could take no more than three in any given season s. Oh, why would he do that? Well, actually, I think it turned out that hey, just wanted Tonto cause attention to be given to the hunting licenses, and people just wanted to look at it and how that's done. I can't think of Yeah, I can't think of any better way of doing it. And the reaction on social media has been mixed. Actually, someone wrote, this could be a very clever way to provide more funding for the wildlife department cause you have to buy a permit. And when you think about it if there is a Bigfoot hunting season and the chances of someone actually bagging a Bigfoot or big feet pretty slim, yet the money still goes to licensing. So that was pretty clever, Incidently. The season becomes effective next November. 1 If and when this thing passes, I kind of like it. I really do. Okay, let's do it. Guys. We have lots of phone calls to take. And we start with. Get this over here, Tom. Hello, Tom. Welcome. What can I do for you? Um, I have a friend who owns a property in the West Valley. He entered into a real estate purchase sales agreement in September of last year selling his house. It's a for sale by owner and as his condition he got the buyer to accept 120 Day Escrow, which was supposed to close The second week in January. But do though I think, he said it was even doing a title or junior lean. They weren't able to get the paperwork in, so they both agreed to extend it. And that extension is coming up in a couple days. His question is is that if that day comes and pass it does he have to renew that or that agreement just done that's done That's done. He has the option to renew it. But if you have a contract any kind of a contract, and it has to be fulfilled by X date Spent real estate particularly and if it isn't off you go Now. There are some exceptions where in the contract escrow will be in the sales agreement, Escrow will be extended. If And then there's the whole Syriza's of attention. It doesn't Yeah, and it doesn't say anything. That's okay. He could We actually go back and re negotiate with fire that, of course. Okay. That was all the time. Say, hey, Hey, The price just dropped $10,000 or went up $10,000. What do you want to do? Otherwise, I'm walking away, and then the issue becomes who is more anxious to sell or to buy. And if you have a seller who realizes that the property has gone up in value during the course of the escrow to the time, the escrow, uh, praying that escrow doesn't close. And, uh, yeah, And likewise, it was the other way. I'm sorry. Well, you hear a lot of I mean bidding wars in the valley, everything that bidding wars usually happened during the course of the sale. But the answer is, yes. A fast. Crow doesn't close on the day that it's supposed to. Yeah, contracts over as that's one of the big big terms of the contract Sales contract, Andrew Hello, Leandra. I bought Hello? Yes. Yeah, I can hear you. Okay, Great. So I bought a 19 panel four stone with initially one battery back up, and they just had it a second one. As the one that they told me what should have been enough. It wasn't but since day one that they put it in its nest up the electric from the house as far as when that goes into battery backup. During the PS ps, the public safety power shells which we just had here and see me. There's certain things that don't want. My computer's UPS won't run the battery backup for them. And my stove, which has electronic the power of the oven. And they've been out here a bazillion times and can't fix it. Do we have the case? They say Hey, you know, we're gonna have to hire someone else to do this. Make the paper and make him take the whole thing off this. It's worthless. No, Here's here's what you look read the contract and the part that says if you purchased this unit, we guarantee it will not work and everything you have in your house will break And if you have one of those, then there's not met, But there's no place you could really go..

Six dollars? Ticket dollars can you actually hear the Beatles because? I HAVE THEM IN DC and said, the girls were screaming so loud that she couldn't hear the Beatles from where she was sitting in the stadium Yakking you know here and there it wasn't obviously crystal clear. You did have screamed grounding out of most of the time, but you could hear your somewhat mind blown dude, that's all I wanNA say or I'll deal mind-blowing. Well, that'll be a great entry into rock and roll life for anyone. And Talk to us a little bit about the book you were taking pictures around the L. A. Seen for quite a number of years in have some stunning captures in this book in all, it was going to concerts as a kid I used to play around with little Brownie camera when I was nine and ten years old and so eventually when I was able to graduate up to actually getting a decent camera which was. Like nineteen, Seventy, eight, seventy, nine, eighty at one. I really started pushing myself into the into the scene as best I could. It's all proven yourself in the beginning paying your dues you know you're not getting paid when you start out, it wasn't the solely for the money was the for the love of the whole thing. I always had a visual of capturing a great moment. You know whether it was in concert or meeting. Somebody in a hotel room that's what I started doing. Did you build a black and white dark room in your house? My father had a black and white dark room. Yeah. I didn't my house. I had a friend that helped me out a lot a couple of friends that end our rooms and I would bring my films as soon as I shot it the next morning I was there almost at the crack of dawn. We gotta get this process you know right away. That's awesome. You know would do the proof sheets and then big out of print I'd have sometimes I'd have to send something out right away most of the time in the beginning, it was just doing it and getting it done. So I could actually look at what I shot. That's all part of the beginning anyway trial and error is how you learn from a day to day thing you know 'cause I'm self taught I didn't go to school for it and I just I always wanted to do that. You know just take pictures because my father. Was, a newspaper man you were for hearst for the Herald, examiner in La A., and that's how I of got into it. When I was a kid was he would always take me down to the office I used to look at all the photos and the photo room with saga offers, and then I go to the pressroom and watch the paper roll off the presses at night with the greatest greatest experience you know the newspaper game sets how I got into want shoot black and white for falls. What was the first concert? You Shot Elvis Presley Whoa. Seventy six year before he died he he never he didn't come to L. A. and seventy-six closes. He came Long Beach Arena and I had tickets through a friend who is very well connected into Elvis and getting good tickets. So we had some really good seats and that time I think I'd be twenty five bucks to see John a few pictures. They didn't really come out that well. So that's why nothing has really been seen on that because I nothing came out that good at all.

"Bodmer. Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you, I think it's really cool. What you're doing because I would have loved something like this when I was in Asian American teenager. So I'm pleased that you know this generation of young Asian Americans will have that. Maybe they can grow up without some of the baggage that we have. Baggage and should but yes. I wanted to talk a little bit about you. Know your upbringing in your memoir, which is called love loss and what we ate. You talked about growing up in new. York and L. A. and I had no idea you. You grew up in in Los Angeles. Where did you grow up in L. A.? And what were your experiences like? I grew up in La. Puente which is in the San Gabriel, Valley Yeah. Winter Workman, highschool my mother got transferred from Sloan Kettering Hospital in New, York, to city of Hope Hospital in Duarte or are Katie I. Guess, and so that's why we moved and I went to High School in San Gabriel Valley, so yeah. I mean I consider myself such a New Yorker, because of the New York's along. It was my first point of entry into the United States when I immigrated here when I was four in. So you know that's what winds up getting a lot of play in my personal history, but I have very slowly formed deep memories. Of My years in La Pointe. Day, and you know my mother still lives in the house. I grew up in so whenever I come to La I always wind up going there, of course. Did you like growing up in L. A.? Did you like growing up La Puente? Was it a cool place to grow up, I, did not. Bad at my mother for moving to Los Angeles for years I, really? How's it against her? My poor mom, she's a single mom, and she's from south India and so she couldn't take the cold. And you know expensive to live in Manhattan, and so I understand as an adult, and as a parent all the reasons that she, of course you know moved us across the country as a child, it just seemed hugely inconvenient and down because in new. York I was much more independent because everybody walks, and you're in a very densely populated metropolitan area in Los Angeles says you buy as no like there's no center. There's no downtown in especially in La Pointe Day I was in a suburb and you need a car to get. In so, I felt like my independence was with stifled drastically, just moving cities, and then I was also I was in La Pointe Day I wasn't in like Sherman oaks or something. So you know in the eighties. When I was in high school, there were a lot of gangs in la, Puente and other than South Central. La It was a very seriously dangerous place we had. Had, Mexican. Gangs. We had a lot of Tolo and SCHOLLA's. And some of them are friends, but some of them also bullied me, and so I had my little conclave of friends who were mostly Filipino because our school did have a lot of Mexicans a lot of Filipinos lot of African Americans probably the most Mexican, and also Caucasian, but from my freshman year my senior. Senior year, you could really see the population of the schools you much more ethnic, in Brown and so I found it hard. You know because I'm Indian, and my skin is Brown on face value you could think I was Mexican may be, but then once I opened. My Mount was obvious and I don't think they were enough Indians at my school for anybody to form any. Any kind of opinion about me except other you know actually I'm curious. You mentioned that you were not super happy about the move to La for a while, not happy that your mom made that move and of course. That's a huge move from New York. New York is a huge move from India. Where much of your family is? When did you and how did you? come to understand your mom's journey and your mom's reasons for moving both of you so far well I understand that those moves were born of necessity. I understood why she didn't feel totally comfortable in New York, but I'm different than my mother, you know my my mother is is not as curious about being in the world, and just traveling and bumping up against other people, whereas that's all I wanNA do. You, know so I knew very very early on even when I was four that the reason we were leaving India is because it was very taboo for my mom to be a divorce. A divorce just didn't happen in Indian culture in growing up and going back to India I still don't know I know one person in India. WHO's divorced? You know, and so I knew that we were leaving to have a better life, you know. My mother left when I was two and I lived with my grandparents, and I didn't see my dad so I had no recollection of my real father I didn't even know what his face looks like. Because they had ripped up all the pictures so from two to four. I didn't see either of my parents so I literally was so excited to come to America, because America to me, meant being reunited with my mom.
