"The Kobe Bryant helicopter crash. Damages for negligence, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress. As you may recall, some deputies took photos that they were not supposed to, and then they shared them. And sheriff Villanueva's response was seen by many as kind of lukewarm about it. He basically said, if you gather them all and destroy them, then you know nobody's going to get in too much trouble. But I didn't realize as this story says that there certainly is a policy of crime scene photos not being shared. There is no policy about accident photos not being shared. The cops, at least according to this story. The cops may not have been out of policy. When this happened. So I mean, that's certainly going to change and the public interest in this is it. People just this is what they do. This is a car crash that you cannot pass without slowing down and looking. Does this blur the lines, though of ethics codes, their own they have taken? Yeah, I mean, they'll change well, Ethics. Thanks for gathering codes, you know? Codes. Oath, Probably not their oath is to follow the rules. "Wait. Ron Hernandez. He's with a Lance. We put him on Hold here. We've been trying to get the sheriff on for little while and we finally got a hold of him. He's a very busy night. Everybody in the country wants to talk about this horrible incident that happened in Compton. And he's with us. Sheriff Villanueva. How are you, sir? Yeah. Good. How you doing, Tim? I'm good. Thanks. So, where were you When you found out that this horrible shooting happened? We at home. How's that again? Way at home when you found out about the shooting? No. I was at South Station just about 10 Miles away. We were there for the protests that are going on there. So We roll Code three to the hospital. The check on the welfare of the two deputies. You know, I've never seen in the video. I've never seen so many cops show up so quickly. It looked like it was LAPD. Sheriff Highway Patrol Gardena. I mean, it seemed like every cop car within 20 miles of Compton was on It was on its way. Yeah. When a call like that goes out on the radio. It every drops what they're doing, and they're going to go out there. They're going to roll this leaves and help on which any which way they can write. And I was talking to Mr AnAnd is with a lads. And what really boiled my blood are the people afterwards and laughing at these to share these two deputies that were injured and not offering him any help. I've never seen that before in my life. That they're just one step removed from the coward that actually did the ambush assault on the two deputies. One step removed. I think you're right. So how are the deputies? Are they recovering? Are they still in hospital? They're still in in the I C u there in stable condition. They're recovering from the surgery, and now it's about recovery and therapy and see if we can get him back to full. You know, full duty. It is heartbreaking to hear the female deputy trying, Teo, you know, call for help, but she's just been shot in the jaw, and she can't utter the words we've been shot. Yeah, that no that that was definitely got wrenching and hearing her and see what she tried to do and play in the tourniquet and then the her partner. He got the word out, let more clearly because he could speak with and he's obviously got a wound to his head. He's dealing with. And she took them both to cover behind that column because they were not knowing if there's gonna be another assault on them. So very admirable for two rookie deputies in in the worst circumstances possible. I know that the reward is up to $135,000. And I think it was somebody from the sheriff's department. And if it was you I'm sorry. I didn't read exactly who made the challenge but challenged LeBron James to get involved, and maybe double that reward. Yes, I put that challenge out of him. I had another private donor who pledged another 25,000 just a few minutes ago. So This is very encouraging the community coming together to get these cowards to justice. And let's see if it works out and it'll compel. Somebody do pick up a phone and do the right thing. Timmy Hey, Hey, Sheriff. Good. Good evening. It's Steve Gregory With Ko Phi News. Thanks again for your your availability on Saturday night. I wanted to thank you for that first, because I know it was very preliminary. But can I ever find me? I have to ask you two questions. First of all. Can you talk a little bit about anymore on the description of the suspect, And is there a second person involved and do you have it tracked down to kind of a vehicle you're looking for? Well, The initial information we have is that the black, the older, four door sedan, Mercedes Benz. Had a partial plate. But from that point forward of the investigators are very tight lipped about what they're doing. They have some promising leads there. Following is developing ah, very positive fashion, so I think they're going toe. Be able to wrap their arms around this thing and and having a suspect identified soon Great. And then the other question I had and I know Tim and I were going to talk about it earlier this evening, but it was thesis. Quint issues after your press conference, the protests that happened And then the arrest of the reporter. Can you clarify a couple of things with that? Because I know a couple other outlets today have asked you about this is well, I listened to the entire interviews you've done. And I know you arrested this reporter because of because of she was interfering What you say interfering with police business if for lack of a better word, But can you explain a little bit if the deputies thought she was a reporter knew she was a reporter? Did she have a microphone with a mic flag and was there in order to disperse given There was no Ah, she had no obviously equipment of a reporter. She didn't have a press pass. And the deputies were in the process of arresting the main instigator of the people who are obstructing the egress and ingress of emergency room at the hospital, which was their main concern. And she ran from wherever she was at two right in the midst of the deputies is arresting that person, and that's how she got involved and then becoming the second person arrested. But then what about the order to disperse? Was there ever one given I believe there was okay. And then I'm finally Timmy thinks I appreciate his, by the way, Tim. The final question, And they have is that at this point, will it be up to the district attorney whether or not to drop charges against her or not? And then the video that came out about her being arrested. A lot of people are making an issue about how she was treated on. Do you stand by the deputies and their actions? Well, I think their actions were appropriate for what was going on at the time. If they knew that she was a report on things she would have been arrested, But you got to realize that in the heat of the moment we have people chanting for the death of the people, and that's their partner's inside the E R being treated It's their human. Anybody who think somehow they're going to be able to separate. Someone who doesn't identify themselves properly doesn't have the credentials and gets right in the midst of the deputies trying to arrest somebody. You're not going to believe that person's a journalist so you can understand why the confusion is there It meets the elements of the crime, so therefore they did make the arrest will present at the district attorney, but we're also going toe. Look at our pulses are practice and see if there's something we can do better to prevent this type of incident and happen in the future. Thank you, Sheriff. I appreciate it. Thanks, Tim. Thank you should really appreciate coming on. I hope they find this guy sooner than later because if he's going to do this Two deputies. He's nobody in L. A is safe. No, I mean they were minding their own business, keeping the transit people safe. And There's not enough negative wars I can conduct this are attached to this individual for his actions. You think there'll be a change in policy where the windows have to be open? If the cops are sitting outside the station like this I don't think they're windows were rolled down. Oh, I see. I thought they were I believe the windows were rolled down and remember, the weather was warm. And a practice of deputies working and patrols that keeps the windows rolled out so they can hear that's run out there. Yeah, well, that's why I'm not a deputy, You know, I don't even know that during the window on or off, up or down. I really appreciate coming on and I hope again..
