"Quarter pennzoil. Great there behind him shell pennzoil oil so i mean they are at some serious serious train burgers and fries and then crushing the world fifty. That's that's what the. Us is about america. America Man was that summer of two thousand eight on there was still time to turn back y'all q. Imagine the michael jordan. Larry bird team losing to anybody by any amount of points. No it couldn't. Nobody came within. I think the closest any team ever came to him was thirty points. I mean it was the they destroyed. The rest of the world destroyed them. Yep yeah you used to think. Oh my gosh they were within like you said thirty points that that that's a victory and of itself right there for for whatever comes got that close yes and i guarantee. Nigeria never came that close. She's again we beat nigeria. The last time we played them wasn't it wasn't the time before either last time or a couple of times ago by eighty three. That was the number. I had my head. Eighty three eighty seven or something or eighty. Three and fortysomething lose do them. I was at one hundred. Twenty seven points difference in the last two games. I will say one of the players from from. Byu's basketball team Tried out for the jury team. Because he's from there didn't make it so i mean they you know they got some talent while down and they have some nba talent. They've they've actually got. I don't know five or six players from the nba. That are in a decent but they're not superstars in the nba. I just i. I don't know it's going to be. That's going to be ugly. I mean if they don't get their crap together that's going be ugly because it's just not acceptable to lose the gold in the olympics. You know it's like the soviets used to be with with hockey. They never lost it You could always count on them to win it in canada in the curling competition Okay first of all you know yeah The the men America reigning champs died loved the and i would also draw your attention to nineteen eighty. Yes do you believe in miracles. Pat believe america's else Nineteen sixty and nineteen eighty. We took the gold both those years but other than that it was always candidate soviet union. But you know we own basketball. We own it. It's our game. We invented it. We played better than anybody in the world and then to lose in the lead up to the olympics. it's embarrassing. please stop it. Maybe they're just please there. Roping them in pat to the rope. A dope thing. Yes they're like see. We're not so good. And then. When i got nothing yeah they don't really be dude but nice try. That's a nice day. Thank you all right. The nih the national institute of health. They maintain a library an online library of medical information known as the national center for biotechnology information. I love it. I read it. Now get there a lot a lot. I go all the time every day. I'm probably on the you know the center for biotechnology information. Probably keep your library card on your key chain. You have to use it so right exactly. And you find scholarly articles. Of course you have to tell you no research paper. Yep love the research papers. In fact you can find me in the microfiche section of the nih. Because you don't old school yeah. I'm nostalgic for really difficult research stuff. You like to thread that microfiche and stuff and then turn the thing the crank it well. We had the glass and you'd slide the thing and you'd be looking at the uh there is. Yeah that's how that's how i read. Tell you roll now. Then they of course have results of medical studies for most common areas of medicine lately. However the repository has been adding a number of new studies seem to be little controversial to say the least and they deal with medical issues involving transgender children. Want and what's come to be known as quote gender affirming medicare unquote couple of these. Studies are now drawing public attention because of the decidedly unscientific potentially dangerous approach. They take tour dealing with families who have minor children dealing with gender. Does for you while how dare you call it that. Who wrote this art right all. My gosh you called a gender dysphoric. oh boy bastards. An one of these reports is titled lgbt testimony and the limits of trust and it's kind of an eye-opener opener written by someone more priest the report explores the ethics of ongoing puberty suppression in transgender patients There are doctors who use puberty suppressing drugs on children to prevent the natural onset of puberty until they can decide what gender they are. If any 'cause they might just turn out and you know what. I'm no gender. I'm just i'm neutral. I'm an. I'm neutered like you know you have your dog spayed and neutered. I've been neutered. So are you like a eunuch now sort of. I'm just like a like a ken doll. you know. i'm smooth like a ken doll. I don't have any sort of detail you So the how it works. Because kim doesn't have anything. yeah. I'm just i'm listening boy. But he's really he's really gender-neutral. Have we asked how he denies. Know us but the author goes one step further insisting that. It's no longer to the doctor to make decisions for children in such matters and parents who object to this form of treatment should lose their veto power over such decisions so this research says that parents of children who are struggling with transgenderism Should have no say in whether or not their their child is has their puberty suppressed. Are you kidding me. Dark place america i. I don't understand it. I really and we got here so quickly. How did that happen if the medical community is to take this seriously. It says as they should then it's no longer the job of physicians to do their own weighing of the costs and benefits of transition related. Care assuming the patient is informed and competent then only the patient can make this assessment because only the patient has access to the true weight of transition related benefits moreover taking lgbt patient testimony seriously also means that parents should lose veto power over. Most transition related Pediatric care that is incredible at his absolutely astounding. So you have a. I mean if you're trying to suppress Puberty then you're talking about eleven and twelve year olds right. Maybe thirteen yeah. You're talking about john of museums. What you're talking about and very young kids and you're telling me that they're competent and informed enough to make that decision at twelve or thirteen years old as to whether or not they're going to have their puberty suppressed. No thank you that is insane. We don't let them make any important life decisions. You're going to let them make the decision about whether or not they want to change genders yet. But they can't decide if they want to wear a helmet or not when they go on a bike ride. That's right yeah that's right. That's so you better put that helmet on. It's the law. Oh but you wanna change your gender god but are you going to wear a helmet when you go down to the gender changing you are. You don't have any choice. i'm not even asking. I'm telling you But yeah if you wanna you want to suppress your your puberty that's cool. That's fine national. I mean they don't they don't even know that can bring on serious and life changing problems and deaths. I mean for the rest of your and that's just the physical aspect you're talking about. Never mind the the menton. that's right. Oh my goodness that's why the suicide rate with transgender chiltern zits so high it's astronomical and it's astronomical even if you decide to make the switch in fact i i think it's higher. After they make the switch boy. I wouldn't be surprised. It's s- article was published on a government. Website supposedly created to disseminate information on medical science. And this is what we get from it. They're following the sites. Don't forget that they're always following. The science and the author fully supports a use of puberty blocking drugs. Like loop run This support is offered despite the fact again that the fda has never approved the use of these go atropine releasing hormones Hormone drugs in any cases except for children.

"Keeping up with track changing conditions. Alright, that's Kurt Busch starts in the eighth spot today. Doug Turnbull. Hey, thank you, Bread and here with Denny Hamlin, who rolls off third one here in 2012. Danny, you've been I'm not going to ask you about pavement or anything like that. I want to ask you about being in a music video of post Malone and your driver, Bubba Wallace earlier. How did that come together? And just tell us about it and paint some pictures on radio? Yeah, it was a lot of fun that came together pretty quickly. I think you know the creative department that was doing the music video proposed wanted to do a NASCAR type of theme. Obviously the song being called Motley Crue, and you think Crew and NASCAR so He ultimately was the motley crew of NASCAR in the video, so it's very cool that all came together. They we went out to L A and shot at the California Speedway and It was. It was a great day. A lot of fun. Obviously, that shoot with a little more fun than the most shoots. You go to, as it was more of a party that just happened to film, but it was really fun to be involved in it. And obviously, um, you know to to have a meshing. They're two different worlds. Very cool, and you've been a lot of commercials, Domino's offer pad and in this music video again. I know you've been there since a long time. But do you feel more comfortable than maybe you did 5 10 years ago with that? Yeah. I mean, I've always been comfortable with it. You just never know where the opportunities come from, but it's um yeah. You know, when you see ones that come up like that, where you can get a lot of national attention, you always try to take advantage of it. Sure, Denny Hamlin's got his face on the hood of his car today is offered bad Toyota. Alexa von has got us another driver. Yes, some good news. Bad news. For William Byron. The good news is William Byron is really fast on the mile and a half race tracks this year. The bad news, William Got to start 19th today. What kind of challenges that Yeah, it's a little challenging. I feel like the bottom lanes a little better on the start. So, um, you know, at least growing up to speed will be good And then and then they're all fan out. And it's luckily a short run until the first comp caution So just got to You know, get as many spots as we can and try to try to get ourselves in a good spot for for pit road. So long race, So, yeah, you're knocking on the door. You have the speed at these tracks. Got to feel like that results in a win eventually, right? Yeah, I think so. I mean, we did well at Homestead, and I feel like this is a similar racetrack. So, um our first result here was okay. We're a little bit too loose, but I think we'll be think will be pretty good today. All right, William Byron looking for another win on the season, Brett Alright, joint. Logano has had some really good runs here. I see. Like eight of the last nine races. You finished in the top six here, but you're still Missing a win here in Atlanta and course I mentioned that the earlier United went thanks for reminding me, but this admit a track you've run very well at what's going to take to get that one last spot. Well, I think you know quite a quite a few things is the pretty technical race track a lot of different things going on. As far as you no longer runs tire fall off. You know how aggressive to be on the front side of Iran versus the back side, so Lot of things to think about. And as much as a track has stayed the same. The cars have changed so much over the course of time, so we'll we will see. I think I think we're all writer Teammate obviously was very fast here Last time we blame anyone in the race, so hopefully we'll learn some stuff from him and get our shell Pennzoil Mustang a little bit quicker and hopefully get to the front and when this and be a special one for me, this is Like a second home track for me living down here for quite a few years. So a lot of laughs on the quarter mile agreement of winning on the big track, So hopefully today is the day this Joey Logano starts tense today. Doug Turnbull got my pick of the litter. Here, You got Atlanta Ace to Kevin Harvick and Kyle Larson has been dominant this season, and Kyle Busch held court here yesterday in the Xfinity Series race, and you said it was significant for you in that race, Kyle. To win the last race on that configuration of those cars. I would assume a similar feeling today for your number 18 camera. Yeah, we would love to be able to win in our Skittles camera. Obviously, you know, Atlanta is a cool track. All the drivers would talk it up and talk about how much they love coming here and racing on this type of surface, but All for not after this one. But you know, we'd love to be able to end it on a high note and hopefully get our shot in victory Lane here, and he's certainly got a good shot rolling off second. It's Kyle Busch. And that Skittles Toyota guys. Thanks a lot. Doug Turnbull, of course, our time with Kyle Busch, presented by Toyota for the Ladies Toyota Racing information, visit Toyota racing dot com We will now visit with Alan Cabana. I'm down here with Bubba Wallace was just getting maybe some secrets from his friend Chase Elliott, but we've been here. The second is the second time we're coming here this year. How much is your team 23 11 race and change since that first race Find out now we've made a we made its own improvements and just to have that first race center bill know what to expect. And you know it was still early in the season. Now we feel like we have a good database. Good platform for us to go out and be competitive with, you know, we ran around 16th all day. The first race here. We felt like we could have got top 12 has some things go south there at the end, but place of stuff up through our job. Execute all day we should be on not only a race car driver, also a video music star Brett Kyle Larson. Last time we were here, man, you dominated this race, but the tires went away late. So what did you learn the first time around that you could be able to take advantage of today and finish it. Yeah, I think it's taking a little bit easier. Um, on the shorter run there like if we after games like stop like coming out with traffic. Just take it remind myself to take it easy. And you said along around left, so, um yeah, lot lot I learned then and hopefully it will be just as good today with 100 cars dot com Chevy and can lead a lot of labs and be up front of the end challenging for another.

"That milwaukee. We have a problem agree to solve a really aggressive. Also chris twenty six free throws they make twenty five of those. You look at devon booker. He's looking at you mentioned. He's looking to get to the rim. He's looking to get to the mid range although he was one of eight from three point. Land like you mentioned. But i didn't expect to see close out chris. I expected him to get twenty twenty two points. Ten eleven assists. I did not see this type of scoring output. Now we were talking about it. And i've been celebrating up here with my duties. Baked the skill. Bailey gimme that twenty fifteen told that will happen. I won't say if somebody do teeny makes that. I got going. Think about making you want to go in partnership with the my chart. That's your look and one thing that you can have happened. Chris is holidays going to have to play better. I believe janas will play better because he would trust that more. It was his first game back in about a week. And if i'm not mistaken. He heard that last last year last tuesday because he missed thursday inside of the game so yeah so it was a week. I believe he'll get trust the need. He'll be more aggressive of the starters. He took only pj took. It took fewer shots. That can't happen. That won't happen. But milwaukee's big three can't get outscored by phoenix. Big three but twenty two. That cannot happen. i don't believe i have. I believe the sun's will win game too but they will play better. They have to play better but janas is going to have to be more aggressive and holidays. Going to have to play. Better is a simple as then or they're gonna get swift. They are going to get stuff so you turn yesterday on this show about this time. My friend chris. Bruce are pushed me. What's your tengku picking. i said. tell me if you're honest is going to play or not. Did i not say that. I don't know maybe by game three. I think chris said something about who knows. Maybe by game three. I need to know. And then i'll give you a pick. Yawn played last night. So i'll give you a pick sons in four. I i guess this i'm not the twenty twenty hindsight. This guy is sitting across from me. I i guess in a week ago. This team plays better in big games without jaanus. There's something missing in his psyche. He is not an alpha he is not that guy he does not have a killer will he is not a takeover superstar that we've seen the greats b. He has superstar ability. He can win back to back. Mvp's he can be the p. e. r. prince but when it comes to big games big moments in playoffs. He'll put up numbers that don't translate they. Don't rub off. He does not make other players better around him. He is not contagious. I can show you flame out after flame out after flame out in his playoff resume dating back to two thousand fifteen when they lost by an average of twenty one points in that series against the bulls then against the raptors in two thousand seventeen they lost by the average the average margin defeat of eleven the next year by an average margin defeat of ten. I can just keep on going all the way to the bubble last year when the heat took them all apart and games one two and three and they lost that series by an average margin of feet of nine points. He's not that guy. He's great in the regular season. I give you that. But the whole teams body language changed last night with him back in the lineup. I watched them win. Games five and six against atlanta and i watched. Chris middleton say i'm free. I'm unleashed i can go back to being an all star. I drew holiday. Say oh now. I can be a star again. I wash brook. Lopez turn back into brooklyn brooke against atlanta. Look what. Chris middleton averaged in those last two games twenty nine nine eight almost a triple doubles and simultaneously holiday. Twenty six eight and eleven in those last two games against the hawks almost a triple double brook lopez to average twenty three and four blocks. Ah game because he can defend the low post so i made two baths with this man across from me. I took those development fox without jaanus and he gave me six. And i would've won the game. I believe they would have stolen the game without. We'll never know. But i've been really good if you look at my track record on this show and other shows i've been on my upset. Specials have had a long history of connecting. And this one would have connected. And i would've won my eight and bet if brook lopez had guardian broke. All didn't guard eight last night. Guess who jaanus guarded and guess what he got those numbers because jaanus isn't physical enough he. He's not tenacious enough. He doesn't have the stature to stop him in the low post. He got those numbers he got by accident. Like he's just seven feet tall. Just dive into the rim and occasionally. There's oh look there's a lot of. I'll just dunk it question. What would you say how. Jonathan game six and seven and gives the net. Was he good with the okay. Yeah it was. Kevin durant going one on five. James harden was a shocking shell. Themselves there was no guy race. How john and joe harris. They're still looking for him in brooklyn right. I'm gonna say well how would use the performance was pretty good pretty voyage on time but who is the. The killer was milton. He made the biggest shots. But scoop. this what we know middleton hasn't been the most efficient guy holiday has had a game here there but holiday hadn't played well in all of these playoffs. Look at him against him. If he ever game here there was on a bishop just atlanta. He wasn't efficient. Look i just believe yard is is going to get more than eleven. Shot creates you can win with janas taken. Eleven shots when he average of eighteen nineteen maybe twenty. He'll take more and they'll lose by twenty next twenty out. They just lost thirteen. Janas puts up big numbers and they put up big losses. That's what happens. This is crazy. No right no evidence whatsoever. Absolutely milwaukee bucks are better without janas. They barely call it off. Team without yanni's in the east they were six and five skipping the regular season without jaanus and they didn't be one playoff regular then you'd be a an atlanta team and atlanta team. That ain't that good to begin with. That was a fifth seed and then atlanta's plan without his best player not nagoya himself knowing that atlanta roster. That's ever going to make an all star team except maybe in the future cam reddish about philadelphia. All i heard was trae young has emerged. She's a superstar. Trae young healthy trae young good to me. His trae wasn't playing they. He wasn't himself. That was just like you say hard. It was a shell of himself. Trae was a shell pennzoil. "Similar to that of like cinema and whatnot. You know you have the fall off. But you have the big braking zones like Abbott Code ourself. I just got to manage your tires, your brakes as well. Keep them on. All right. So long, because the end of this race you know whether you're racing for the position at the very end or you have caution. You gotta You gotta have something left in the tank for that battle, so All about management. All right. Good luck, Tyler. Thanks. Tyler Reddick trying to wield as Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet to Victory Lane. Kimmy Coon. Kyle Busch will be running the Skittles red, white and blue backup. Toyota had to go back up car after an incident in practice yesterday. How will that change your strategy for the beginning of the race here, starting from the back. Um, well, there's a lot of guys in the back. Essentially. So, um I don't think it'll change much, Um Not strategy wise. We knew what we were kind of going to do. We just have more cars to pass, Obviously, to try to get up there and then see how everybody plays obviously will be later coming by pit road entrance for how everybody plays the end of the first stage, whether they jump it or whether they run it. And so we'll see what happens in that to kind of make that determination. But, um, you know, Yesterday's car was fine. I told the guys I was like, Look my bed and just put it back how it was and and we'll be fine. We'll go. We'll go racing today so Hopefully, the Skittles red, white and blue cameras fast and ready for the action today, looking at the 14 turns on the racetrack. What are the most dangerous? Where do you have to watch out for other cars around you? Yep, um, the tracks just so narrow and the heat I mean, 90 degrees is it makes it really slick. I mean, this asphalt really old. It's obviously very light and color a lot of cracks. And a lot of different transitions to around the racetrack, but obviously turn 11 the King is very slick, and it's such a fast sharp turn that could really set you off. Get you in trouble over there, so Making sure being mindful of guys dipping tires off through there throwing up the dust storm that it's it's okay to go through there, and you don't plow into somebody on the other side if there's a crash, but yeah, I think that's that's kind of the story of the day. And, um, you know, we'll figure out How to get ourselves to the front. Good luck. Thanks. That's Kyle Busch looking for the sweep this weekend at Road America, people Stony Joey Logano standing by. How do you get this car to Victory Lane. Simple question, Mr Logano. The complicated answer. Um Yeah, I think I shall pencil mustangs, okay and speed to some areas that were fairly quick and there's other areas. We have some work to do. And, um, you know, probably some of that on the driver to trying to find those serious too. So, uh, hopefully we're able to do that. I think keeping this thing in one piece is gonna be the biggest things you watched his Xfinity racist. It's a slight fast and Yeah, we'll see if our cars can handle that is they're not as durable as Xfinity. Cars are. So I think we'll have to be fairly smart to get through this thing. A lot of things can happen. A lot of tire fall off as well. So it could be some strategy options as well. So We'll wait and see. I think we just have to play the race as it comes to us. All right. Good luck. Thanks. Joey Logano trying to take the shell Pennzoil forward to Victory Lane Boy. "I tell i feel like you're about like you're on the verge of crying not little kobe to man. I'm with you on the little emotional about it. But disney world where dreams come true on ought to be too corn. We also lost david stern this year. One of the most important guys that never scored a point in the nba. If lebron could do that and remember kobe's the one guy that inextricably linked michael m. lebron. There's only one guy that's done it. Kobe was a contemporary of both. I think that would be the crescendo. Of all crescendo. It it is. And that's why it's so important for lebron to finish the deal. Not just for kobe for la laker fans all of those sorts of things. And as you if you go back and you remember it was one thing. Lebron said hit. Anybody can handle whatever you wanna call adversity. He's the guy that can handle. He put it on his back in deal with the now obviously he has a d. as a sidekick and a partner they're gonna eventually get rondo back. You mentioned caruso you you. You've got Dwight howard who has a resurgence in his career. Now so it seems like everything is alive. But there's a tough road ahead. You gotta go portland and houston and like you said the clippers sitting there waiting in the wings up just waiting for the night to be honest with you. One game as as a coach would say one game at a time guys. The weight in lebron james backpack is unprecedented. Never seen somebody to carry such a low like lebron has to carry. I must not basketball. Is one thing all the things that you just mentioned about kobe. In the passing of kobe and the crescendo appease able to win title and surpass kobe as it relates to you know everything he's been able to do scoring wise but still social activism. Yes all those things that he stands for has released that more than the vote Having a a whole breakdown of a media company that he pushes out. it's unprecedented. I've never seen it before. It's incredible now. We should mention jeff. Van gundy is obviously going to be on the call up the lakers move ahead to the nba finals. He thinks there's a bigger chance at portland. Get swept in this series. Then do what everybody is saying. The trendy line is to win the series and he's got an eye on a couple of specific guys in particular right now. Their choices are Carmelo basically a four man and that collins who's a five-man You know gary trent. Is you know a little light. The two guards are smaller. So i really. I know it's It's in vogue to say that they're going to present a lot of danger. And i think portland's players are good but i think there there's a bigger chance that portland get swept. Then they win the series. That's jeff van. Gundy was on green yesterday. That's my greenberg's new radio. Show that airs at noon eastern on. Espn radio so key from that standpoint. Because he stopped. Going to key for every lakers thing with kiefer. Jeff van gundy is entitled to his opinion. And i respect jeff van gundy on so you act like you feel to me you feel like jeff van gundy coach. Van gundy is talking to you personally. It sounds like to me. No i don't think that portland now. It may sound trendy. But i've been in the portland bandwagon sister beginning like i've been to one that they went to the western conference finals. And i also said they don't have anybody that can guard lebron who does have somebody that can guard lebron. Well it's not just it's not just lebron you have to worry about all right. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the way. The game is played and the ability for portland to shoot threes. If they are hot could be a game changer if they are hot now. I'm not picking portland to beat the lakers okay. All i said before in the yesterday was how much of the tank with the lakers have to use in order to beat portland to get to the next round. And that's a big time question. If they're using forty percent of their gas tank to beat the portland trailblazers. You have to lose forty percent of your us forty percents of your gas. Thank if coach van. Gundy brought out the broom. I'm just saying but go ahead to your business okay. Burn rate is the term yesterday. We'll see that that's the fourth of four today. The clippers were in the late game last night. Their counterparts the lakers will be in the late game tonight. Nine hoaglund games off a call. It might get the house lawn. You have a house line. these day. Some room by needed around here. Young kids are like landline house. What are you talking about keyshawn. Jay zubin presented by progressive insurance. Jason wright joins us now on the shell pennzoil performance line. That's a name. You may not have known yesterday but this is a name. That's going to be very important in the nfl and all-sports moving forward especially in the push for diversity and inclusion pennzoil synthetic motor oils are made from natural gas. It gives you unbeatable engine protection. The proof is in the pennzoil based on sequence for a test using. Sat five w thirty. Great to have jason here. He went out of his way to say even though he might be the first black team. President kevin warn the big ten. Commissioner was the o of the vikings. So it's just a it's just a it's a new onto name right. It's just basically one of those things. Where it's samantha title antics so he joins us here now. Jason first things first. I think most people are interested to know how exactly this came about and the process for you to get this job. It happened in a very clandestine way. Lot of secret meetings a lot of reporting set. Yeah that's right or thanks for having me on y'all first off i'm glad to be here with you but But yeah it definitely. It definitely wasn't secretive process I think it was a little bit inevitable right. Like as a former ballplayer executive in dc and dan and tonya snyder owners at the team in dc. Eventually our networks. We're gonna cross. They just happened across at the right time where they were actually looking for an executive to help run the business and you know the series of conversations we started. You know we're surprising to me because they you know they weren't about the finances they weren't about You know the strategy and modernizing the stadium or things like that. It was about values. They talked about culture. They use words. Like inclusive transparent accountable. And we talked about it in a real way a real transparent way. We talked about each of our individual past mistakes. And you know by the end of it. We had way more commonality than i ever expected. And i was really excited to start partnering with them in the same with them and went down pretty quickly jason yesterday myself in j. wheel kind of felt like it was real convenient in given the fact that you were brought in at a time where washington football team kind of had a lot of issues swirling around him so i it. It raised my roles for one to say okay. Did they just hire jason. Come in to colleges put a face on this thing or is he really going to do what he needs to do to run the organization without anybody in the way what would you. How would you respond to the way me. Ajay mayor phil. Yeah yeah yeah. So i had to wait. You know first off The role itself is a chief executive role. I make the calls. Dan and tonya made that clear coach. Rivera makes the calls on the football side and i. I really vetted that real hard before. I took this role. But but i'll answer it this way because it's a it's a common question like oh always convenient hyder brother right now. And there's all this conversation about race and the name change and all of this stuff but i'll put it this way. Let me apologize to the white former. Nfl athletes who played seven years. Got a top five. Nba became a partner at a consulting firm and business. Transformations for the last eight years. If i took your spot my back. Wow that's a. That's a great answer..

Pennzoil performance line including the new president of the washington. Football team may history-making higher as an african american. What got lost yesterday guys is he's also the youngest. Nfl team president ever and he will join his jason right coming up here in just about nine minutes time from nine minutes to length of time. That's a little bit longer for key. Two thousand six hundred sixty nine days since los angeles lakers key of played in a playoff game. That ends at nine eastern tonight. Are you jones about this jacked up. I mean yeah. Obviously i am. This is lee to an opportunity to get a championship. it starts today. Let me ask you let me ask you. This is a laker fan. And this is something i think that really is gonna make people. It's a poignant moment but it's a moment worth pointing out the lakers playing the blazers. We all know that we've noted since saturday. They played three times. This season. the lakers won twice the blazers of one. Once the one portland victory if you remember without the staple center in the very first game they played after the death of kobe bryant so all of those emotions are coming together at the staples center. Your thoughts as the lakers look of their first. Nba title in ten years. There i fifty win season in ten years and lebron looking for his tenth appearance in the nba finals. I think it'll it'll be on some of the players minds until they actually going Because that night it was heavy rashy was heavy. It was at staple center where this game is in the bubble You don't you know it's it's a laker home game so to speak. But it's not the same environment lakers know what they have to do. They know that they got back court. That that portland has back court that you can't mess around with but we also have a front court and to a degree when the brian james and bringing the ball up the court backward and so we should get out of this thing without any major scratches but j. We'll seems to think that we're going to you. Know have a little issue here. I think it's going to be a fight. And i would counter that point key by saying you know. I think in a typical year players will remember that. Hey dame came in. They dropped a lot of bucks on us after we lost kobe. Bryant we lost that game staple center. Thanks so much has happened since then. i mean i i remember being here in brooklyn and driving across the bridge and you know doing one. The first hits on sportscenter about kobe passing away. That feels like three years ago. But i know it feels sold. Some things have happened. Here's what i would say to that though that's very true. The difference is they're win purple goat. So they're going to be reminded just like z. Teed it up for me. They're looking at this right now and their hotel room probably watching a show little tidbits like that. When you go out on the court you know how it is you go out on the court. There's a reminder inside this room let's do it for. Let's make sure we do this in. So that's all i was saying. Look i always. I was a player that had to find things to become personal for me to get angry to compete at my best. I don't know how you got to your best low every single day. I know lebron finds things to remember. That really ignites him as a player especially now being thirty five years old right you have to find things to get you motivated throughout the course extremely important to lebrons that he holds his legacy kobe's legacy heart that he finishes the deal. It's important it's important to all of those guys but in particular important lebron james and he he comes out of this on a high note. Daimler go back to the game. Dan lewis said that he was gonna cook. He was gonna take care of business and he came in the staple center and certainly did that by dropping fifty on. Lebron james is a name that everybody in the world knows. But there's a name that people need to focus on as it relates to this series particularly. That is alex caruso. Alex caruso is a guy. That's going have the task of guarding dame lillard and the way our russo plays defense will determine. How successful lakers will be young kid at a texas and keyshawn jail zubin brought to you by indeed. If finding a high impact hires a serious goal for your business use indeed they're flexible payment options being a better bang for your buck with no long term contracts. "On the shell. Pennzoil performance line including nba analyst. Tim legler coming up at the bottom of the hour legs. It's really interesting comments on. We'll get to here in just a second. We'd like to throw out our number eight hundred eighty eight say. Espn eight seven to nine. Three seven seven six the discussion this morning. Who's the real defending champion. The raptors team collectively or. Why with the clippers. Eventually you'll have a statue out in front of the arena in toronto. But he's in a new locale to who gets more credit the raptors or kawai and speaking of guys. It's hard to remember this. He was first title in san antonio key at the age of twenty two when he was the finals. Mvp now the finals mvp with the raptors could do it again with the clippers. Legler says if he does it. Three teams three titles three. Mvp's he would cement himself as an all time great. It's hard to argue. That is but even if he didn't do that the fact that he did it twice is enough for me time a time and then when you look at his position in a guy who's a three three and guy on both sides of the floor defensively. Obviously you could argue if you want. But we know what that is and then offensively. He could take the game into his own hands in a heartbeat. And i think you know. Jay is very hard to defend why he has come a long ways from an offensive standpoint from when he first got into this league with san antonio all of a sudden he looks like a totally different offense basketball player. You know what the headline would be if kawhi leonard wins his third championship on his third different team in his third finals. Mvp which by the way nobody's ever these entering the goat conversation inject his name in the goat conversation going there. Yes yes last year. He averaged thirty points per game. Nine and a half rebounds and four assists up forty nine percents from the field. Had to forty point games took a team that was on the outskirts of the nba to winning a championship in one ear implanting year and then goes to a different team and this as hasty bomber. Hey doc rivers. Let's find somebody that can partner with. Hey pg thirteen you wanna come on board come over here and if they win it again at that age and he still has more runway left to go he can only imagine team is only going to get better. They're still be in the west. The broncos is getting older. they're going to. he's going to enter that conversation. I don't like all of everything that he said. But i do like the fact that he said he is entering that goat territory and the reason that people probably would go man please is because the co is low demeanor personality. He doesn't he's not that guy who's out front if you think about all the guys in our history that are considered the goats. Whether it's a magic or lebron or kobe or or michael. Their personality was so be that they've got a plus that as well as their play on the court for anybody that wants to use the load management argument. How do we evaluate greatness in this society. Man he's nice not like he missed a fifty percent of guys. How do we. How do we evaluate great. And when we talk about tom. Brady we talk about. How many super bowls he want. Yeah michael jordan. How many championships he won. So now you're telling me three championships. The broad james has three championships but so if kawhi gets three championships on three different teams and three finals. Mvp before the bron james does that's going to be interesting. I think even if even if even if he wore leave lebron's going for four even if he did it at the same time or whatever the case you know how hard it is to get one right but to take three different teams on your back in. Finish the deal in three different locations. I mean as obviously we've never seen something like that right and also the narrative that he's a super team stopper super team stopper who today beat when he was playing the spurs super team. Right miami right right. Two thousand fourteen who. They beat when he wanted the next time. Like golden state. Two thousand nine hundred. So i'm saying if follow them then he'll if you get to this year it would be lakers probably to get to the championship. That's right keyshawn. Johnson jay williams even anti here on. Espn radio espn app. I want to ask you this because you spent so much time. Growing up in southern california worked at our. Am seven ten affiliate out there. Sometimes the story is what makes j. sort of mentioned the raptors are on the fringes the hinterlands of the nba to rosie. Nobody wants to get traded to toronto. Right they don't wanna go there popzette. I'm sending you there. You don't like our medical staff fine. This one banishing you to toronto and it worked out for him on the flip side it even better story than the raptors which is a great story. This is the fiftieth season of clippers basketball. I forty nine of knock on great. Okay they've never owner. They've never been to the western conference finals. Go obviously they've never been to the nba finals. So now he takes a team like this with the pathetic history. Who's known more. For clipper darrell than any of the actual clippers are linked donald sterling. And all that stuff you tell me. Would this be the greatest story to author of all because he would take one of the most lousy embarrassing franchise in the history of the nba to a championship. Absolutely it will be right up there with a lebron james cleveland. Cavs wow you put it up there. And i'll be right because the brian left in king left with the owner being the way he wasn't basically a slap in the face by coming back and winning a championship and says see all. Let you say and talked about me. Look what i've done for you. Can you now when you dan gilbert now when you look at kawai they quarter kawhi then. They caught a pg to come in helping paul george in at the end of the day they said okay. We got a guy here..

"G santi willan suba podcast playing in when they did the clippers outlasted the mavericks basketball's back at one thirty pm eastern today with perhaps the back toback. Mvp johnson action and then for the first time in more than two thousand days keys lakers are gonna play postseason game against dame and the blazers two thousand and make you sound you. Just make it sound so agree ges. Well let me just fax. It really is true facts. You know what i'm saying. Would you prefer two thousand six hundred sixty nine. Which is the exact now and there's anybody who knows numbers zucchini keyshawn jay williams zubin. Cpa style brought to you. Progressive insurance guest joins us on the shell. Pennzoil performance line that includes coach cal and coach k. This hour plus the history-making president of the washington football team. Jason right will join us in our final hour as well. It's time for straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless. We were speaking about two of and prospects in the nfl and key. You just think the body type is not exactly what you need. And maybe the coaches around him aren't exactly what he knew succeed either. Look here's what i was saying. Guy did a terrific job at alabama at the quarterback spot. But so has a ton of those guys have come a long right you think about we had greg mcelroy won a tiny one a title but i also have a history with the offense that they ran in alabama. I look at our quarterbacks that we head out west whether it was mark sanchez where there was matt liner. Had esi at sc under steve sarkisian and lane kiffin carson palmer was really the only guy that kind of took the nfl grabbed it and may do of it. I you coach chan gailey office coordinator down in miami. If you told me coach caldwell who was the former office coordinator who had to take a leave of absence because he got sick a year ago if he was the office coordinator down their quarterback coaching. I probably would feel different about to prospects of becoming something special in the national football league when you look at coach gailey. It's like who has he ever coached. How did he all of a sudden. Get this tag as a quarterback expert off. It's a coordinator. Just look at the history of his stops. I'm not talking college. Football georgia tech. I'm talking the buffalo bills dallas cowboys to kansas city. Chiefs pittsburgh steelers. I'm just looking at that as saying how did he all of a sudden. Become this quarterback experts that worries me. Especially when you don't have pieces around you to help you out. You young quarterback let me ask you this. There's probably no franchise in the nfl. That's been looking for replacement since dan marino rights. So if this one doesn't work and clearly they think it will. We're are you as an organization. We're coming up on off. Think is going to work when they draft you true. Think about it. They all no matter if this organization or another one they all say to themselves. We got the right guy. So you're saying you don't think too is gonna work. I don't necessarily know. I'm kinda awaiting major. Wait and see approach because i also look at the players that he was with at alabama which is a factory. Ok there's three four five dues drafted in the top fifty picks every single year and especially at the skill position again. Jerry jeudy henry ruggs smith. Is there right now. Who's going to be a first round. Pick waddles there right now. Who's going to be a first round. Pick nashi hair is probably going to be a late. First round pick an offense industry talk. Only offense not include moseley on the defense aside in thirteen. And it's just a different situation for me. When i value way alabama quarterbacks and i know these are keys ian does a hell of a job. Qb's in college from an injury standpoint. J it's not akin to yours but this was one of the most catastrophic injuries we've seen on a football field. The dislocated hilltop of an injury did alabama. Medical staff is unbelievable. There are some people that say that could have been a career ending hit. Had he not gotten the right surgery and recovered the way that he did. Take us inside the mind of somebody. That's had to recover from that in as you've said a brutally violence i've never i've never had a hip injury. I don't i don't know what that is. I've had a lower extremity injury. I don't know how a hip injury no. I've never been a quarterback so. I don't know how that hinder your mobility in the pocket. Especially when you have to have quick bursts but anytime you have anything wrong which allure body when you have to plant and you have to rockets step you have to slide the pocket you have to throw. You have to wait. Wait what to rocket step main quarterback so iona noticed it. I can't demonstrate it but something in the pocket has to make sure he. He hits his backflip. Plant slide up in deliver the football. That is going to be hard for any quarterback so when you first talk about the lower body injuries on. Qb's the first thing you say is. Are they able to stand tall in the pocket. Still do what. They did that before they got injured. We don't know you've seen him run around and do some stuff saying conversation. You would have with alex. Smith saint conversations with tom brady when he tore his acl when people start to mess around your legs. It's a little bit different in so this'll be the first time that he's back in action since college and it was a long layoff now. Medical experts say. He's a good to go so they drafted. I'm.

We were all watching the nba and as we mentioned big spot for the mavericks they lose questionable call. It was the second technical on porzingis. We just mentioned it off the top. Lebron weeden ticky tack. You had dirk. As i mentioned the all time mavs legend saying the same thing. What are you guys. Think about it before we hear from. Kp himself it was ticky tack fake. They're completely right with the defend his teammate. Basically and you know in the nba nago doing any real fighting biggest gain each other's face a few pushes here and there and that's pretty much it. He just let him know. You're not gonna do to my teammate. He came to his defense what she should. Now look the first technical foul that porzingas scott. You can debate that okay. Because i thought it was a legitimate block. I thought it was clean. It tempers flare up. I hear people were talking about but the referees at this point of the game when you have the dallas mavericks key versus this team the clippers. Yes this is how the clippers operate they get under your skin. Morris holds him at gets luca a little bit flamed up. Porzingas has the right to defend his teammate. And they were really. He wasn't really even defending to the level where you felt threatened. It wasn't one of those deals. He stepped in between two guys in. I don't know the words that he uttered but whatever that was no purchase stone. He didn't cock back at him. So what's the point of a guy especially one of your top twenty five stars in the nba. All i'm saying is fan. I want to see a team. A lot of fans don't know who the third best player in the mavericks are right. Now who that their best player on can you tell me who the best player in his key. I just looked at the sky ally so you can't take one of the two best players on this team. You can't take them out of the game against a star studded clip baby will maybe the nba. You tell me. I didn't play any. Oh you're about to say what about say. You're about to say something like there's some kind of conspiracy. What else about. Maybe they wanna see this clash with the lakers and the clippers. I don't know well. So i've been leading reading you know the year everybody's running recaps of this kind of stuff this dot. I have to start with that. I thought was most amazing. Jeff bezos law lost thirty eight million his divorce thirty eight billion divorced and he made it all back in a month may thirty five billion in one month. What does this tell us about america. Gentlemen it's worse than that. We've had one individual. Gdp of hungary to his net worth since the first virus. You on mosques just in time for him to peace out and moved to taxes so he doesn't have to pay taxes. We've seen billionaires go from one point nine trillion and wealth of four trillion. We have effectively four companies. That are so dominant. There's more we've been overrun. There's more lobbyists fulltime lobbyist in washington working for amazon than there are. Us senators there's more people working in pr and calms at facebook. Manicuring in march and cheryl's image than there are journalists at the washington post. Yeah we are so beyond any sense of balance in our economy. The eco-systems out of control. We absolutely need to break these companies up. Yeah it's almost like we're going to step ahead. I'm old school that stepping on a. It's almost like the way that you said there bill. It sounded nefarious. Almost like they plan or something you know not that they did of course but they took advantage of it but they took advantage of there's almost like an inevitability of this kind of progress. Let's let's call it. You know where how all that money just starts flowing in these these same directions. No matter what happens to the economy. It all keeps flowing that way but can ask this one question. When i read this about the amazon apple. Google facebook twenty one percent. I mean it was written. I forget where i read it. Maybe you yeah. It was written like oh my god. Twenty one percent of the economy four companies. Yeah but i was like. That's so bad. I thought it was eighty quite frankly. I hadn't read that. Ash. How does the coach of the South University pleasure bringing me in to talk about the late great John Chaney on ESPN Radio coaching your Twitter handle? Coach Ash Howard you put If you see it, then you can be it and a lot that was growing up in watching Coach Chaney having chance to be around his program. What kind of words can you put into words about what? John Chaney will always mean to you? Well, I mean, you know, he's an iconic figure. Um, on so many levels, right? You know anybody who knows Coach knows it. You know he was who Woz and he was always No teaching. He was an educator. And and and he made an impact on the lives of so many people. Um, but, you know, you know, the thing that stands out to me is I coach stood for something, you know. And any any thought for Um, you know, the right for you know so many underprivileged, underserved, um young student athletes to get the opportunity. T O go to college to his efforts we was fighting for proposition 48. You know, I know so many guys that plays the coach who will prop 48 that you know, went on to graduate from college. And be, you know, extremely successful men and And you know, that's that's just one of the many things that he's done. You know, outside of just, you know, you know, his win loss record is his number One team in 1988 is Elite eight Finals Eyes Elite eight. Sweet 16. All the great things he accomplishes a coach, You know, he helped change the lives of so many people, and I think that's why he's such a significant figure in the Philadelphia area on and across all of college basketball. You were born in Philly coasted Nova and obviously now, LaSalle. When when? What is John Chaney? What did he mean? What does he still mean? You feel it, not just basketball, but to that city when it comes to basketball. Well, you know, I was a temple ball boy Growing up, and coach Chaney and my grandfather were We're really close friends and went to high school together and And they were they were really close. So I had the privilege of Being around Coach's program when I was when I was a young young fella, you know. You know, Like, like what coach meant for Philadelphia. Like he was everything like he was the model. You know, he was the standard of coaching knows like every high school coach, I read Every youth coach like they were fans of coach. So you know, in silly like we all grew up playing, learning how to play the game. Really? Pretty much how Coach Chaney taught it. You know, Asgard, you take care of the basketball. Don't turn it over. You know, play play with poise and composure under control, And I think That became, um That became synonymous with like what Philadelphia basketball player was right. You know, you're tough. You played composer, intelligent. On guy. I think you know, like Coach Chaney was was the person that lead that foundation in terms off? You know, you know that being a standard with how you know guys, and so l see you play the game, so Um, you know, so I mean, it's just so much, man. It's an emotional day. Think about You know all the different Um, you know memories that I have a coach like Dan, a camper at his champion. No, man like you know, I was a knuckle hair when I was a little kid back Coach got only so many times that I remember my best friend and I Um You know, we had a powder fight in our room at his camp, and they called it He called the fire station and And my grandfather and coach Chaney showed up and you know they thought of the smoke. But it was his power. Me and my boy way had a powder fight, not room and and and coast and coach told my grandfather get your grandson. For mop the floor up with him, You know, and I was scared to death. Nick is like, you know, Coach at the head that personality in that way about him and you know you love them. But you, do you Better not mess with. You know what I mean? Uh, And and and then to go from those days, too. You know, becoming a head coach and have an opportunity to talk with coach on the phone on multiple occasions and You know, and no one that he was following that was doing and In the multiple times. He told me he was proud of me and what I was doing and the man that I've become. You know, Coach is a very significant um, you know influence on my life, one of the most significant influences on on my license in the reason why I coach today. "Of Famer Bruce Smith a little later today as well with the Buffalo Bills back in the playoffs and playing well. And a whole lot more coming up. But next Next subject. I think you're going to love this. And I must give credit for it to your pal. My pal Sal Pal Antonio. He sent me to e mails that I think were fascinating. So we all know that the baseballs were juiced. Right? Baseball juiced their balls. Ah, couple of years ago in an effort to get more home runs with these somewhat, I believe, misguided impression. But that would make the game more interesting. It actually did the opposite A devalued the home run and managed to make the most exciting thing in baseball something very commonplace and unexciting. But that was something that I think, despite what anyone would tell you, the ball was juiced. And it was just a simple is that well, you know what? Pro football. Has juiced it, sport. It was 1000 allergy, and it is the right one. You are regular season numbers. There was a record year for scoring in the National Football League. There were more points scored in the NFL this year than any year before. That's despite the fact they didn't have many camps and training camps and preseason games and all the rest of that. And you know why they did. There were 430 offensive holding penalties called this season. Year before there were 724. Was decreased over 40%. The result, Records said. In touchdown passes, Records said in touchdowns record set in scoring and a record five teams averaged over 30 points scored per game. They just don't call holding And if you're wondering, did that carry over to the playoffs? The answer is, yes. 24 quarters of postseason football so far, 24 quarters There were seven offensive holding calls seven offensive Holding's called in six games and three of the games. They called none. Indy Buffalo zero holding Baltimore, Tennessee zero holding Bear Saints zero holding They don't call holding in the NFL anymore, And the result obviously has been record setting offensive numbers. And can I tell you I love it. Love it. There's nothing more frustrating that want a great play in a football game is called back by a questionable holding. They go back and they watch it in the Detroit and say, Well, I'm not sure I really see that one there, Joe. Whoever it is that's doing the game. You know what I'm talking about. It's insane. There's nothing more frustrating than that. Questionable holding call. Now I know that all my friends who play defense in the NFL are screaming at me right now. Really? They hold on every play. You can't let them get away with it. Well, guess what? Yes, You can. Yes, you can. You can let them get away with it. It's better for the sport. They juiced the sport and it worked. Thank you to Sal Pal Antonio for pointing those notes out to me and thank you to the NFL for making the game even more entertaining to watch. Greedy with you. Presented by progressive insurance. My guests on the shell Pennzoil? No, no, no, She's me. My guest this year are on the Goodyear hotline. My apologies. That was the previous year. Thompson has torn Achilles tendon, expected to miss season
"So it's the injury everybody's talking about but with clay sadly you gotta specify which injury you're talking about. Are you talking about the one in game. Six of the twenty nine thousand finals. The last time we saw him play a game or the one suffered earlier in the week. Which is an achilles tendon. Tear he is now out. It could be if the calendars right two and a half years between games. We're looking forward to having him back at the start of the twenty twenty one. Twenty two season knick. Fidel has been all over the warriors for years and he joins us on the shell. Pennzoil performance line nick. Good morning first thing. Just the response in and around the organization on the news zubin. Everybody's just depressed excited leading into the draft. And in the fact that wiseman was there at number two he was number one on their board and and they were just really looking forward to having steph klay draymond and then plugging in wiseman and seeing what we can give them and then they range of emotions in those couple of hours before the draft and then after the draft they really couldn't even celebrate. Everybody was so sad about clay. I mean he is the guy behind the scenes with all the star power in that locker room that sets the tone for everybody else. And that's why kerr and all those players they love it and so to know that he's going to be out again for another year which just crushing for. Everybody involved nikki. Give us an insight. Into how bob myers and company dealt with the news of klay thompson literally hours before the nba draft that make their decision challenging more challenging looking at other guys like lamelo ball considering he was going to be available. Jay bob address that right afterwards instead. Look wiseman was our guy if he was there we were taken him and obviously if the emotions involved right before the big or unprecedented we. We really never seen anything like it. Before where a star player who has won titles in an organization gets another serious injury right before you gotta make a huge selection for your future but all along when you talk to people in the organization they love what wise men could give them and they're confident that once he gets into their system playing and learning alongside draymond that he can be maybe that bridge or potentially down the line Tracey's nobody knows for sure but wiseman all along was their guy in. I don't think anything that happened with. Clay change to focus when he was number two
John Thompson took a chance on hapless Georgetown ... then worked a miracle
"Jay Bilas here because there's big college basketball breaking news this morning the death of John Thompson Junior age of seventy eight, one, thousand, nine, hundred, four NCAA championship winner the first African. American. Coach to take team to the men's College Basketball Championship his best player is now Georgetown's coach his son John. Thompson the third eventually followed him as head coach as well with Craig there in the middle giant for what he did for Eric African Americans in a giant with what he did in the game. Jay joins us on the Shell Pennzoil performance line this morning Jay good morning for those that may be too young or don't understand the scope of what John Thompson Junior meant to college basketball. How would you sum it up? He was a giant in in basketball both literally and figuratively, and he did so much for the game not only on the x No side that you did a substantial amount there. You know his Georgetown Teams especially when you got nineteen, eighty, seventy, nine, eighty through the early nineties they were a force and the best defensive coaches in the history of the game, his teams were very disciplined. Very smart and very together and that that's why they were so great defensively, it wasn't just that they were athletic. they were smart and disciplined. And almost went to the final four in nineteen eighty when John lost a a one point game to Iowa and that was lute Olson's first final four and lute Olson passed away a little earlier last week But John, Thompson. was that he was also fought for social justice before it was it was cool if you will. Think. You'll remember back in the eighties there was legislation by the NC double called proposition forty two. That put in a entrance requirements and they were disproportionately affecting African Americans and John Thompson and a game I. Believe it was Boston College got up before the tip and walked off the floor and protest with a towel over his shoulder and and you know he took a stand and took a stand on on multiple issues He was not always popular because the things that he was saying that time was really uncomfortable for for people to hear. And you can imagine I mean are people are uncomfortable. Now think how it was back in the in the late Seventies. Early Eighties one John Thompson was was setting a standard and with standing up on social issues. He he was a, he was a a great great person a man of of really high character and You know you don't want it to get lost what a great coach was but he was also a great man.

What Else Did Shel Silverstein Write?
"Decades ago in the evenings around closing time a man with a very bald head and a very dark beard used to come sloping into the mysterious bookshop in New York City. They talked about books about life. Auto pens layer was just recovering from a devastating break-up and so they spoke about battling in a recent phone interview for this article. Pennsly- remembered that at a certain juncture. His guests said something so piercingly insightful and eloquent about the break up that it took his breath away Henseler said I wish I could remember what he said but I failed to write it down what I do remember. Is that when I expressed my amazement at his facility with words he just shrugged and said I guess that's why they call me a poet. He could've added among many other things because our bald and bearded man was Shel Silverstein a true renaissance man. Of course many of us know him as the author and illustrator of the giving tree a light in the attic and where the sidewalk ends among many of the other wildly successful books that he wrote Andrew for children. His exploration of the innocence and imagination of childhood made him one of the most celebrated and widely read authors for generations of children and adults like Auto Penn's lair recall Silverstein telling him that he spent a year living at the playboy mansion as a guest of Hugh Hefner. The Nissan VR Engine
"VR. Thirty Eight D. E. T.. T. is an all aluminum. Twin turbocharged v six to great motor. That's right every engine is assembled hand cleanroom and only the most experienced Nissan mechanics are allowed to work in this building There's only four dudes that build these motors. There's with one hundred years of experience between them in the coolest part about it. Is that every single. One of those dudes are every single. Engine that comes out is signed by the guy who makes it. Yeah so cool so shouts to sell it. As Soon Emmy Yama Nope Mitsukazu zemeckis almost had zoom zoom e Sharia and Takumi Kerala those dudes that no one just named make every tr engine that has been sold so every time you see a gt are on the street or on the Internet. You know that one one of those guys built the motor. Yeah they're responsible for Creating car youtube by powering every. Gtri ahead some Bikini Babe trying to reach one hundred dollar bill during a launch. So these guys that get her none basically fan basically do they just get earned an account allow it the VR thirty eight initially really made four hundred eighty horsepower which wasn't I mean? It wasn't super powerful at the time because like cars the Zonda and stuff from making like seven hundred zonders a two million dollar cars. Actually this thing I think was sixty no eighty ninety The VR we are was hooked up the VR. Thirty eight rather was hooked up to an updated version of the TAZA. all-wheel-drive that prioritized rear grip. This time around the combination of great power lean by rear grip so not sliding it out. Yeah you had me until you got to. The board out. Part hurt the combination of awesome power and great all-wheel-drive made the GT are one of the hardest launch and cars in the world achieving zero to sixty in three point point two seconds. That's fast for Backman. Yeah was faster than all the expensive competition and the Gtri wasn't just good at streetlight. Straight line performance either. The new are thirty thirty five. Every Team's Top Potential Free-Agent Targets After 2019 NBA Draft
"You about to be immersed in woke bombs, because it is that time of the year. Our NBA insider, everyone else joins us. Whoa. Just before we get into free agency, which is going to be interesting. We are now what twelve hours removed from the draft. Your initial takes who won who lost? Well, I thought the two teams who made the most significant trade last night. New Orleans, and Atlanta, both fared very well maximize the assets that they had Atlanta moving up into number four. To get. The hunter from Virginia. Maybe most versatile forward in this draft the best defensive player player doesn't need the ball in his hands. They've got a lot of scoring on Atlanta team. And then Cam, reddish, who is probably a top three or four talent taking a little bit of a flyer on him at ten and then New Orleans, you know, their ability to keep expanding this Anthony Davis trade. They got Jackson Hayes at center beyond Ziya Williamson David Griffin, thanks, that's going to give them in the long term. Maybe the most athletic front court in the league pick up another first round pick. And now also have nearly thirty million dollars in salary cap space to go out and free agency. And some veterans to this team that could make it conceivable that, that the pelicans could make the playoffs in their first year without Anthony Davis. And usually when you trade a player of that, caliber. From a small market, you're going into a full rebuild. But I think the winning the lottery being able to get Zion Williamson has a lot of David Griffin to go and just the opposite direction. And they're set up really well in New Orleans, talking about teams on the way up in there seems kind of scratching our heads about that would be the Celtics. What what's going on there? Well, listen, they're preparing to lose career being Al Horford in free agency. They've got in the neighborhood of twenty six twenty seven twenty eight million dollars in cap space, they could use that to go after Senator to replace Al Horford. Nicola Busa vich in Orlando's a free agent. The Lakers have interest there if they can get the cap space for him if they want to put all in one player, but which is at priority in Orlando. You know, there's I think there's motivation on both sides to get a deal done. But if they weren't able to, you know, Boston's and position to swoop in there and try to make a deal with vich Boston still has some really good young players. Now they go from team that thought they were ready to compete for championships to a team now built around Jason Tatum. Jalen Brown Gordon Hayward who still on the right side of thirty years old, and who probably will have a much better season this year than last. But they've got to address that point guard position in Boston. They obviously have taken a step back if both of those players are gone free agency and that's and that's how they feel. That's how it appears right now talking to Adrian ward NASCAR ESPN NBA insider on the show Pennzoil performance line. And something we had Brian win horse on earlier. We're talking a little bit about as teams you mentioned move things around or creating cap space right now. The idea that the seventy Sixers with some available cap space could potentially take shot or try and get a meeting with Kawhi Leonard coming up in free agency. Tell us what you think about the viability of that. Oh, I think they'll get a meeting. I mean listen getting a meeting and being a serious contender for free agent are two different things and very often the relationships in place that will allow a team to get a meeting I thought all along Philadelphia would probably get a meeting for Leonard. I think the Knicks will also get a meeting with Leonard, but the front runners are still Toronto and the clippers. But. Players and their representatives will meet often sometimes as a courtesy with other teams but their focus in Philadelphia is keeping their own. And that's Jimmy Butler Tobias Harris and JJ Rettig. He's an important part of that group too, and he's coming off an outstanding season. It's going to be expensive to keep that team together. They knew that when they made the trades for Harris and for Butler, but their priorities to keep them and also find a way to keep there. You know, I think they may get a meeting with Leonard, but I don't think they're going to be a physician to sign them or insider, eighty ask is with us right now. Whoa. What, what are we hearing? The latest on the, the possibility that there might be a sign and trade deal that keeps Kevin Durant in Golden State, while he's rehabbing. So he gets his money, and then they'll be able to get something for money moves on trade. I don't know anything about that. I think the focus and Golden State right now is to try to sign Kevin Durant to keep Kevin Durant in with the warriors. They're going to offer him a five-year max contract, just as they were before the Killys injury. You know all the options that were there for Kevin Durant before that injury are still there. All the teams that were recruiting him that we're willing to essentially offer them the full scholarship, nobody's pulling back on the book or the meal plan, he's getting full scholarship from everybody. Maximum. Allowable for years with another team five years with the warriors, and they're determined to try to keep him keep Klay Thompson. Great analogy, by the way. As far as actual galleys of free agent when you can actually talk and deal with players. Forgetting that how much of the race is going on right now in the timing issues of these teams talking back door to try and get these things done. Now I mean we live in the real world, Mike and free agency started weeks ago just did. And so it's ongoing. You cannot keep people from talking, there are different philosophies out there. There are different styles going at it. I'm not saying every team is out every free agent is out, literally to go shitting numbers. But are there, some yes there are, and that's always been the case? But I think because of how many teams have so much you have over ten I think ten eleven teams with over twenty million dollars in space and teams who could go get it with one trade. Or waving a player who's got a partial guarantee. So there's lots of moving parts in this free agency teams don't want to be left behind. but you could also you can talk to your own player all the way through boston was able to talk about extension with al horford and it didn't look like they were not close on the numbers and that's why horford is headed in the free agency he feels they have some confidence there's a much bigger offer or offers out there for
Looking Back: Toronto Raptors Win Game 6 in NBA Finals
"So now we're past the NBA finals. Congratulations. At around raptors there, the champions of the basketball world. Now, the real fun begins involving that team Golden State Indian BA. Let's bring on Howard Beck was a terrific, terrific senior NBA writer for Bleacher report. He said, thanks to shell Pennzoil performance line. I'm going to go back to the finals Toronto Winston six. What word or words would use to describe that series? And what we all experienced and what we also with all due respect to the raptors 'cause they don't want their championship. I don't use the tip of their, their championship because their championship deserves all the plot. It's all the praise that, that they've earned that you're asking me just to describe the series weird. I mean. You know, and that was from the beginning, by the way, we roll back to clock McAllister a couple of weeks here. I said, even we're going into the series that this was going to be possibly the strangest or these the most unique final. Dive of are covered up covered eighteen or nineteen of them now. And the reason is we've never had a final start where the superstar each team was both in both cases possibly leaving. Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant that was unprecedented tone that these guys were so much in play remain. So, but then bigger than that was just the, the fact that Kevin Durant was not starting the series but was not necessarily out either. He was this spectre looming over the whole thing. And so even as the raptors one game one even as the warriors sweet out game to the real question was not. Well, how's it going, how matchups going to go? What's the moves and counter moves? And who's the better team? It was no Wayne is Kevin Durant coming back. And if he does that change the entire complexion of the series, and that alone made this series this finals, absolutely unique, and then all the other layers on top of it, the intrigue over, what he comes back the frustrations that have been reported about the with the warriors team. It's about not knowing when he was gonna come back is coming back Klay. Thompson misses a game on looney misses the game. Dread does come back. And of course goes down with that terrible achilles. And they somehow manage to, to be a game in a game six where they could have extended this thing. And Klay Thompson goes down with the ACO. We've just never ever ever seen anything quite like this NBA finals. I'm always a big believer that even if it's something is not a positive even if it's a negative is going to help sell it's going to get a lot of attention. How much do you think with all that going on really not only help the NBA, but further the NBA going into the future going into the offseason with free agency from the NBA is not having any trouble getting attention? These days ratings are generally great, tennis, great their credibly popular period. I think the NBA is fine regardless what I do. Think is positive coming out of the series. I mean, let's, let's go just the fact that we've got free agency coming up first NBA free agency, NBA transactions have become like its own season in its own its own category of story. So there's the basketball in the NBA is very proud of the quality about four knows. I think they should be there's all the other stuff in the NBA is more than happy to have all the other stuff the transactions in the rumors. They're they're fine with all of that. It's, it's, you know, teams may not like speculation about their player and the player may not always like a is kind of sitting there going, you know, it's fine. You know, people are talking about a lot the tweeting about us, and they're speculating, and it's fine. But in terms of the finals, and how it impacts NBA popularity I think it can only be good for the league to have the raining. Super team. Not just lose as the warriors did. But all of a sudden very moral because Kevin Durant is probably not gonna play next season even if he stays. And I don't think he's staying Klay. Thompson may not play all next season if he stays, and I think he will stay, but the warriors won't be the warriors next season. So after all, these years of people saying it's a fatal complete the season is meaningless. We're just waiting for the warriors coronation. Well, that's not going to be the case anymore. There's no you know, we have warriors Cavs for four straight years. And then we had warriors Toronto next season next June. We're going to have a completely different finals, Leonard leaves, the raptors will have a different entrance from the east also. So if you if you're a fan of restoring some equilibrium, or not wanting a super team that just dominates too extreme measure than we're gonna good place where things stand right now because there's gonna be
Torture report shows progress in Afghanistan, but much more needed
"We'll have to be some measures taken by the government to address torture. We are seeing some Pennzoil impacts of the steps taken by the government over the last two years. But while it's good to see that. There's some progress the oval big as will torture and treatment of conflict related detainees. Still disturbingly high in the sense that one insert sorry to interrupt. But in the sense that one in three detainees six hundred plus detainees who you? Nominate contacted the UN mission in Afghanistan. One in three say, they tortured in what way would they tortured, please they were tortured principally by beachings mainly by eating with hikes in payables, including on the feet, which is very painful, but doesn't leave any mocks now in some pick your location, they were all other forms of kickback even more serious including with. Electric shocks is expensive from ceilings very hot to stress positions for extended. Periods of time. Pulling genitals reported threats of death and other forms of sexual violence. And also, a very common form in particular. Locations in panda included being suffocated, eighty the tactic digested ahead or your Walser for throats, and one common form was be covered by a blanket people sitting on Thursday and back and being also maintains except potatoes, especially the okay, so that sounds absolutely horrific. And yet, you NAMA is saying along with the office of the high commission of human rights that this is an improvement since the last report, which I think was in two thousand sixteen and do you? I started reporting on this in two thousand ten in the previous record. And if report it quite right thing debut stock and plenty time. Time is actually being some improvement in that it's disturbing wanting three and keep the down. However from thirty nine percent four out of ten in the previous two years ago. And the that in in twenty eighty there was some progress in the among those into twenty eighteen twenty seven to say because the real treatment. So yeah, I think how headline is that some progress is very long way to go. There was also at the normative and the negatives. If no in that in twenty eighteen Afghanistan exceeded the optional protocol eventually they'd still and that these why because today seventeenth today because one year since the optional protocol was exceeded to near encouraging Afghanistan too. Establish a national preventive mechanism as they're required to do. So can I just jump in Richard just to us? What is the state's ability and capacity to actually help improve this, obviously, there's a willingness to do. So, but how capable is it of actually achieving what it needs to? Yeah. All post anti-drug commissioned nationally ups yet eight legislative began store Jerry metro check, nor so they became being Orage taking some sticks at a high level it needs to do more. And they have been training have been establishment of mechanisms you've been the key agencies responsible for torture, including bagels and ESPN. She's been candidates agency, the police and the military, so they're awesome steps in the right direction to develop capacity, we have found however that what we call key procedural and other legal safeguards that'd be Parke's often failing to uphold them lose, for example, access to lawyers. I contacted the family medical screen and information of rights for detainees as well. Proper investigations to follow up when are complaints. Go turn treatment buying the perpetrators held to account or if they are the measures. They can be such serious such an serious crime, very light. And that victims are really told about progress or up of cases, which remain mainly opaque. Can I also just ask and sorta to interrupt about accountability? Because it doesn't sound like what it was certainly one of the features of the report and High Commissioner of human rights. Michelle Bachelet said there must be accountability. Otherwise, this kind of thing will never stop. But that's not particularly new messages it. So what are your main hopes having released this fifth report? A main hopes that the commitments made the normal given negative level internationally domestically actually in. Lamented in practice 'cause you're not seen enough of that yet. We we have seen some signs of accountability. Would apparently Trump people removed from positions, according to the government response to the report, but be seeing very little if any serious investigations or prosecutions still carry now a crime in this country, but many fits me to take him on accountability. At the criminal Justice never would also found that nearly all of the Chinese the report for chapter saying that the total ill-treatment stops. Once they confessed. And this kind of culture is very concerning. Confessions obtained done before share essentially worthless. And they are illegally excluded as evidence in court. And so that is another thing. Yeah. Much change needs to take place needed to use torture to obtain a confession do. Those who are perpetrating these abuses actually realized that is it a case of educating everyone in detention centers that it just went hold water in a court of law. It connected, and I think you're right -education training are absolutely necessary. That has been among standing practice of using torture to the pain confessions, and I think that making that issues unacceptable amigo country to the penal code. They have better results. I think we are starting to see better results in twenty eighteen particularly with the intelligence of the NBS and note that they have new UCF introduced better training and policies on torture. Yeah.
Knicks Snap 18-Game Home Losing Streak with Win over Spurs to Avoid NBA History
"Guys. We have a guest here obviously on the shell Pennzoil performance line. And it is oh guy. Our guy Bagley get your bag. Ian, how're you doing? In. My three favorites out there tonight. I'm very excited. Yes. ESPN New York. Knicks reporter also does the nets and basically holds the upper east coast down in did you know that the Knicks made the Oscars they pretty much won an Oscar did you notice this? Yeah. We got wind of it on social media after the game. And we asked a couple of players about if they hadn't seen a year for too excited to just see the clip Samuel Jackson, and Spike Lee. Not every not every year that the Knicks could have mentioned on the Oscars deserves rightfully so. Because the Knicks would at home first time that happened since December one twenty eight and I'm talking about last year folks, twenty we're everywhere. Number one two thousand eighteen they won. They beat the Spurs one thirty one eighteen and I even saw the icing on the cake who threw off the backboard pass for the dunk like it was just wild. How important Dennis Smith? Well, of course, it makes sense. Usually he's on the other end of the dunk rape. How does this when in Madison Square Garden me? What was the field? Was it like a sign of relief for coach physio it felt like a weight off everybody's shoulders, you know, coach FitzGerald would tell us that they don't think about it. They don't talk about it. But then the players afterward joking around the locker room, it just felt like a much later lock home. Now, they knew about they were one loss away from Batasuna longest losing streak ninety history set in ninety three ninety four by the Dallas Mavericks. They know that they have the longest losing streak in franchise history. This so they're aware of those numbers. They don't want to be a part of that history. Tonight, especially the team like the city until you're Spurs. It's not easy, especially for this. And we've got a twenty two games left would throw out the record. We know where we know where we are twelve hundred forty eight what should be the goals over the next six weeks here with this team wanna see consistency. I think so Kevin Knox. You'd wanna see what Frank ntilikina as you're still trying to answer that question. You know, one one and a half almost two seasons. Enter France career, he should get healthy at some points to from this point. I think it was the next to kiss him significant minutes trying to answer that question to try to see if he can be elite guard. What did he do off the ball and where he used offensively so between seven and Saint not some consistency. From those guys. I think the next like what they've seen recently from young player in literal Robinson who who's really played well, especially since the Andre Jordan has come over from Dallas Jordan has done a good job mentoring. Mitch robinson. So I think it's it's the young players on your team and being able to project them forward who is a keeper who can you pencil in for next year? And who do you think won't be around piggybacking off your point there? What's the the Knicks recruiting pitch this summer? You know, who they Bill that around is it around, you know, playing with somebody like Dennis Smith. Knox. Or like what how does that play out? Jordan because you have the two max slots. Pitches almost hey, come come here and tell us who you wanna play with right twenty nine hundred she class, we get that you wanna play with and Kevin Durant. Also simple. You want to change the narrative around. Golden State to win those titles. You come here. And you have success in New York you wanna title in New York. I mean, that's a forever thing doesn't staffers outside of Madison Square Garden and no one. We'll talk about how joined that Golden State to win your earlier title simple message. Anybody else? It's tell us who you wanna play with. We'll try to bring that guy in. That's the voice of in Begley are ESPN next report. And that's reporter upper east coast. Reporter you're listening to insiders. I'm Bobby marks Jordan Schultz ESPN radio ESPN app and Sirius XM channel eighty now. Talking about obviously, the potential free agency this summer. Those are all big question marks largely because of the trade deadline, sending Kristaps Porzingis opening up two slots, but tell me how worried were Knicks fans watching Duke UNC this past week in. Knick fans are still watching the Knicks games. I give them a lot of credit assume most expensive watching every night. So. A big sigh of relief. I think I'm this fanbase when you found out that that sign injury wasn't that serious that he's going to be okay. Because this record twelve weeks at this point. And they're just looking ahead towards the trash and like every other bottom. Feeding MBA franchise. They're looking at nine what you've seen how he can impact their roster. How much he can change the fourteen organization. So, you know, certainly everybody around here was relieved when they found that he was okay. The interesting thing so Zion and wherever the Knicks end up in the draft in the top three. They hope is could that pick then help them creed. With the woman's Francis us, I think that's something. That's that's certainly on the fan bases minded. I'm sure the front office is thinking about different permutations packages. They could put together including that twenty nine team first round pick to try to entice New Orleans Detroit. And before we let you go. What do you think Zion playing in Madison Square Garden would look like do you think it would be just the new coming up LeBron or even even bigger based on his highlights in his dunking ability. I remember the Jeremy Lin Ron and how much energy was in the building night in and night out. How much of the event every home game was your masters. I think it would be just like that. But even more so sign Williamson was here. Because you know, he getting the franchise all three player people talk about him as a prospect the same way, they talks about Davis to bring that kind of talent into this building would give this reasons for optimism something they haven't had in a long time around here in. I look forward to our shared slice of pizza. I know we've been pushing off that day for a long time. He's been the best pizza apparently in New York. But before we let you go last, but not least we have awards given out for the MBA insiders and honors of aren't Oscars. Have you been watching the Oscars tonight? Because I've been at the. Is your feed though, you saw here. A little bit here and there, okay? This has been a Mahershala Ali love fest on the show, but we actually have awards given out today on MBA insiders throughout the course of the night. I want to get your vote for the last category that we're trying to push best leading man. Are you ready for this vote pleased? The nominees are Janta Takubo of the box. PG thirteen Paul George of the thunder James harden of the rockets and Kawhi Leonard of the raptors who is your best leading man right now. I would go right now with John giving Milwaukee's records they're standing in the conference in the role that he plays on that team. I think he's most deserving of that honor at the moment all of Georgia's a close second. Given what he's done for the thunder
Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson played a high-stakes match that was simply missing good golf
"Channel eighty. We bring in now golf writer for ESPN and ESPN dot com. Bob Harris was at the match today with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in Las Vegas. And he joins us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. It's Aaron and Ari if you had to give today a grade overall from the experience to the golf to the whole nine yards with this. I ever pay per view golf match the day after thanksgiving. What grade would you give it? Well, I would probably give it a b minus. You know, I I happen to think that the match was a good idea that a lot of the negatives that will flip fourth or somewhat unfounded. But you know, at the end of the day for it's a really really work and be good golf has to be really good at. I didn't think it was that good tiger struggle for good. The today certainly the front line still had a chance to really build a lead on them because tiger was struggling. And and and wasn't able to do it. You know, the course played a little harder than I expected. You wanted. These guys make fun of birdie chances for eagles, and you know, have their this up and down back and forth. And it didn't really happen. Like that. There was some drama at the end, certainly. But you know, at the end, I think what you saw was to champion guy who won a lotta tournament really fighting hard to not lose. Either guy wanted to lose their wanna came down to the end, and they were trying with all they had, you know, and and obviously took it to four extra holes. And you know, I I know for fill this was day. He really really put a lot into trying to accomplish this and was able to get it done. Do you think Bob there's an element of you know, these are big competitors? And and just the mentality the psychology of getting ready for a major too so different. I mean, do you think that's why the Gulf was was was the way that it was just because you can't lie to yourself in that regard. Well, I think that's certainly part of it. And also, you know, look, I'm not making excuses for them. But in Tigers case, no, I don't think he was prepared is is he would normally wants to be you know, he he had a long season this year come back from back surgery. Played a lot of golf and after the Ryder Cup. He shut it down for a while. Understandably so still tiger really really been the last three weeks. We're sort of trying to gear up, you know, for something like this with all that on the line. And you know, that means, you know, you're kind of just getting back involved a couple of weeks ago, and then you're testing. Wittman and then you're working on your short game. And and and you know, I'm not sure it was just all it was just all there for tiger. You know, I just don't I still don't think that he he quite had everything that he needed. And you know, he didn't practice at this venue as much as spill did. And you know, again, I just think that's part of it. You know, it's a long year. And and he wasn't gonna go overboard getting ready for for one tournament. And yet, I think we saw some from them. Harry is our guest ESPN senior golf writer was in Las Vegas at the match between tiger and Phil today, which fell one for nine million dollars. Bob, you are one of only a few hundred people who is allowed on the grounds. So just kind of take us through your day. What what was it like getting in there? How much does what kind of stories can you tell from being able to actually physically be at this event, which was not open to spectators? You know, I was actually surprised how fluid the process was, you know, this is not a place that that hold public events or or even big events. It's a very exclusive and private golf course. It's meant for high rollers, you know, people who come here, you know, and want to play golf and are spending a lot of money to do it. And you know, there's there's some infrastructure. That's required to put out a golf that you know, when you're gonna have TV and media, and then, you know, even though the the number of spectators was relatively small a couple of hundred, you know, it's still you gotta park, and you gotta have you know, concessions, and they had some hospitality. And and you need to have you know, restrooms and all that sort of stuff. So, but from my standpoint, I thought it was fine. I mean and the atmosphere was good. I mean, they were these were clearly golf fans, and and they crowded around all the all the green. Liens and all the holes. And and you know, and that's frankly, this is why there was no there was no admittance for general spectators because they just they couldn't accommodate the places not equipped to hold that many people. And and obviously you've got it that have parking form. You gotta have this. Ability to be able to have that many people. And but I thought I thought they handled it well for the amount that they had and what they were
Kyle Busch burns it down after winning at Phoenix
"Nascar's second to last race taking place on Veterans Day, just outside Phoenix. Arizona USA radio's Timberg at the event. Kyle Busch won the canny I'm five hundred which is held that. I assume raceway just outside of Phoenix, Arizona. I had a chance to catch up with joy Lugano driver of the number twenty two Pennzoil Ford and ask him what it means for him to be racing on Veterans Day weekend. Military. Recognize military. From raceway for USA radio news. I'm
Nick Bosa: Withdrawing from school to prepare for draft
"Way, when you know, what's coming down the pike as far as the NFL draft and the type of contract that you'll be able to secure for yourself and your family. So football is big business and these players have to make business decisions for themselves as well analyst Damien Woody with us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Get triple action protection for optimal engine performance with Shelby power nitro plus premium gasoline, wood, man, we were talking about this the last hour before you came on you, right? We've all known this is a big business forever. It feels like the players are finally in college football specific. I'm talking about are finally realizing, hey, we are the big business and they're beginning to understand, especially the top players how much leverage in power. They actually have. Absolutely tray. Because I mean understand this. You're talking about college football now where some OT billion dollar business. Do the schools everyone is making money in this in this whole deal except the players the school the administration the head coach athletic director, everyone is making huge amounts of money except for the player. So I think we're finally starting to see awakening from from the the, quote, unquote, labor out there that you know, what without us. There would be no multi billion dollar enterprise that is college football. And he's got a starting to make smart business decisions for themselves. Talking to Damien Woody with us. Former first round pick ESPN NFL analyst on the shell Pennzoil performance line. And with that in mind, Damian because I almost like invest to what ends up being a contract holdout, Joey Bosa knows what he's worth and is going to wait until he's on the other side before he's going to put his body on the line again for we talked about a do you does it? Get more uncomfortable for you, all of a sudden this guys who like we hinted that would you'd avian cloudy are healthy, scratches that decide going into their last year, you know, what my stocks at its highest point. I'm not going to risk it by playing any games during my final season in college. Well, I mean, listen, I bought don't think you're talking about, you know, a select few type of guys it's not like we're going to see just as onslaught of the onslaught or a tidal wave of guys that want to opt out not playing. We're only talking about the league of the elite type guys debut on clown Nick Bosa those type of guys. So I don't think this is going to be something where we're, you know, we're going to see a whole got pulled his tug move off going into the NFL Damian that we have certainly
New York Giants waive young QB Davis Webb in shocking move
"The New York Giants cutting Davis Webb. Now Gordon, I know we. I heard on the national side, but locally was the talk is serious last year when we had UI manning getting benched and the giants talking about eventually taking saquon Barkley at two in the draft. This idea that Davis Webb could seriously be the quarterback of the future. Was that a serious conversation around New York? It was not just fans of brought that up. It was media members that brought that up. There were people who consider themselves insiders who felt like no Davis Webb has a legitimate chance to be ally. Manning's era parent, which was strange because even at the time it was said that ally manning was going to play the expectation barring injury for at least another couple years. You're talking about a guy who would be going into twenty twenty without really seeing any significant time who you drafted in the third round and still then maybe he might be the apparent. But no, that was absolutely brought up as some by some that that was a reason why the jets were not gonna take a quarterback in the first round of the draft that they like Davis Webb and they thought of him. He was a third round pick. And that's not something to sneeze at so. But no, I never worked out that way and it was always kind of puzzling. I think to a lot of us that that Origene that did not draft. A guy is now going to put this faith in this guy, especially when he did not have good preseason this year. I mean, anytime you, you know, when he really got a bit of a chance in the preseason that first preseason game where he got a significant run, he was not good. So I think that the news is still kind of stunning that they decided to cut them essentially decided to go with the thirty year old Alex Tanny over him when he was just a third round pick a year ago. But the I know that talk about him at least within some circles in the media was out there talking to Gordon Damer on the show Pennzoil performance. Does that make you at all hesitant looking back now, even as great as we all think saquon Barkley is going to be this idea that in a year worthy quarterback class was considered so stellar and understanding. It looks like that talent is going to drop off in the coming years. When the guys we're seeing coming out of college. Does that give anyone pause now, looking at the fact that maybe even with a great running back giants could have passed on a quarterback that could succeed succeed, Eli manning that narrative is already well established in this town. Yeah. I mean, people are already hopping on that bandwagon might be the only exercise some people get, but that is the that is the exercise they're getting right now is jumping on that bandwagon because that's one that you can easily foresee right saquon Barkley could go out this year and as a running back, have a sensational season. But if the giants don't make the playoffs, go deep into the playoffs another year off the calendar for thirty seven year old ally manning and in the very same stadium, you have this young twenty one year old quarterback who very well could be making strides to show that he is the real deal and at least so far, right. We're talking about all these quarterbacks taken in the first round. He's the only guy that's going to be starting week one of those guys, all these guys that we talked about and we're dreaming all these scenarios before the draft Sam darnold. The only guy and he's still playing in this town with the along with the, you know the jets facing off against the giants who decided, no, we're not gonna go, rebuild. We're going to do quick fix. We're going to plug in a running back who's certainly going to be very talented now that that narrative is certainly out there. Well established and people are just looking for more and more evidence to kind of support it right
