That was probably the best at on the long run Last fifteen twenty laps of is where we really shining Yes i was just trying to make sure i had some tires on it for that moment and the thought in my mind at least was get two cars per per run If i can get a couple of a couple more get a couple more You know. I'll be in position to win this race and You know was able to pounce at the right times and get my sore is which is a lot of fundraising him We're friends so it was pretty cool to see and then You know being able to to maintain the lead and race. Any there at the end was nuts and they watered down the race trag ascertains. It's dirt racing man. You just don't know what you're going to have next and you're you're forced to figure something out quickly so tj spotted a good job at. Tell me where danny was. And i tried moving up but you know it takes such a different driving style to make that work. It's joey's twenty-seventh career cup series win if you can believe it. And he rockets his team into the playoffs with that win.

Business is booming for tech companies during the coronavirus pandemic

"It is the corona bursary Was a year ago minus two days where we did our last show here and i am boy at ended quick biden set at me the whole thing i mean i thought i was gonna come back next week. We had a panel book May i able to get a shot. July fourth biden says independence day yet. It we're going to be kind of independent. So i've been leading reading you know the year everybody's running recaps of this kind of stuff this dot. I have to start with that. I thought was most amazing. Jeff bezos law lost thirty eight million his divorce thirty eight billion divorced and he made it all back in a month may thirty five billion in one month. What does this tell us about america. Gentlemen it's worse than that. We've had one individual. Gdp of hungary to his net worth since the first virus. You on mosques just in time for him to peace out and moved to taxes so he doesn't have to pay taxes. We've seen billionaires go from one point nine trillion and wealth of four trillion. The dirty secret of this pandemic is at the top ten percent much less top. One percent are living best lives virus and that some be minute we see a lot of the we actually see places that went out of business by myself. Some of my favorite restaurant. Hey i drive by. And i wanna cry. Because they've been there for a log gone forever but the people who did if you're in the sit on your ass. Look at a screen business. Amazon apple google facebook right. They made their now worth twenty one percent of the whole economy. There we used we talk about the s. and p. five hundred it's the s. and p. seven there's now seven companies that have percent of the market cap amazon's since march has added more market capitalization than all of european retail. We have effectively four companies. That are so dominant. There's more we've been overrun. There's more lobbyists fulltime lobbyist in washington working for amazon than there are. Us senators there's more people working in pr and calms at facebook. Manicuring in march and cheryl's image than there are journalists at the washington post. Yeah we are so beyond any sense of balance in our economy. The eco-systems out of control. We absolutely need to break these companies up. Yeah it's almost like we're going to step ahead. I'm old school that stepping on a. It's almost like the way that you said there bill. It sounded nefarious. Almost like they plan or something you know not that they did of course but they took advantage of it but they took advantage of there's almost like an inevitability of this kind of progress. Let's let's call it. You know where how all that money just starts flowing in these these same directions. No matter what happens to the economy. It all keeps flowing that way but can ask this one question. When i read this about the amazon apple. Google facebook twenty one percent. I mean it was written. I forget where i read it. Maybe you yeah. It was written like oh my god. Twenty one percent of the economy four companies. Yeah but i was like. That's so bad. I thought it was eighty quite frankly. I hadn't read that. I mean the biggest four companies. Who really i mean this is. What's propping up. America as the rest of his goes to shit Is that such a big thing that those the four biggest companies are one fifth of the economy pennzoil. Not that alarmed at do we want one company deciding ninety three percent of the time when we type in overthrow government whether you get Instructions on how to build a dirty bomb or voter registration. Should one company control those decisions. Ninety three percent of the time should one person control the algorithms to decide the content that the southern hemisphere place. india rec- should one company effectively control ninety seven percent of all increase in value of all retail. The third and learn. I know you think healthcare is next right. Don't you think that walmart and is it is on. We're going to be battling to of course. Why wouldn't they want that. they own everything else. Where's the all the money going sick people. That's what america does best makes people look the fastest. The largest business in the world is us healthcare. it's seventy percent of gdp its prices. Keep going up. it's nps keeps going down. That spells here comes amazon but not only is it bad or morally corrupted these companies have so much power it's dangerous. the equivalent of the nasdaq and israel is down. Not up there vaccinating. Seven times the rate when the most powerful wealthiest people in the world are living their best lives. We don't show this virus the full-throated capitalist response. We are capable of if amazon amazon. Start if amazon stock had declined seventy percent instead of risen seventy percent in the last ten months when a van with a smile shows up in my driveway tomorrow morning someone with a somewhat jumped out in a lab coat and vaccinated us. We are living our best lives. This virus has not seen what with the. Us is capable of because stop. Stop at hurt so good. If you're the shareholder class but the other the other point is the every time you wanna talk. This guy's as usual. I said everything i wanted to say. No but the other side of it is providing a service that people like you know. I mean during the pandemic you wanted things delivered to you know so the. That's what i mean the confluence of them being there at exactly the right time with exactly the right service is was very convenient so i know so. Many people have signed up for amazon prime over the last five years because the all of the things that they come with it and amazon is amazing. The type of company that amazon is and how they position themselves to literally pacman. Every every type of that is out there. it really is. I don't think we've seen anything like that type that's He remember he cornered the diaper market. Lost like one hundred million. It is foggy at the swamp. We're in the fourth quarter 10 40 left to go. Ls you just picks up a big first down there up 34 to 31 R J. A loss by Florida Tonight would be their second of the season, And that would basically be it no matter what happens against Alabama next week. I don't see any two lost team getting in the college football playoffs to you. No, I was not looking at L s U Florida do not expect in a play in game for the playoffs. But that is what has broken out here, as Todd Grantham knows, But one call in the playbook and it is Madden and you know what it is. It's the engaged eight. Right. We're just gonna send everybody we're gonna We're gonna run the What are we gonna call this now? The Greg Williams that we're gonna call that now. The cover 00. Yeah, yeah, It's just It's just what we're gonna do now because even met Johnson Son of former NFL quarterback Brad Johnson, who is a true freshman, making his first start. What is going to throw it to the open, man, if you're going to send guys out, and he's gonna take pick you apart and I'm really I am getting exact exasperated, Just watching these get these kids continue to blitz and l s u quarterback that is picking him up. And when they drop back good things happen. I don't know what to tell Ty Grant them except Hey, you can't play. You can't play calling more. Stop. We're done. Just just run the base Defense, Jeff, Just run the base Defense. Gator's gonna have to have stopped here for l s U is driving. They're winning. 34 31 9 30 left to go a big completion down the field. And Ellis you again is in Florida Gator territory trying to add on to that three point lead. We will keep you posted. What's taken place at the swamp as we continue our show here game night. Jeff Dickerson RJ Young. It is ESPN radio time now for straight talk brought to you by straight talk Wireless. And then we go to Miami, North Carolina. Let's stay in the great State of Florida RJ for a moment if we can The final score in this game. No joke. North Carolina beats the Miami Hurricanes 62 to 26. I said that correctly. 62 to 26 number 10. Miami goes down against North Carolina So after a game of that magnitude, this is the type of post game press conference you would expect. Hurricanes head coach Manny Diaz the opening statements we got our kicked there. There it is, And that is true Words have never been spoken before by a Manny Diaz Dear a king of Miami quarterback. I had a couple of turnovers today. Hey, gave his assessment another blunt assessment with with bleeps. No. What happened against the Tar Heels? I mean, she's my lady. I think we gotta ask with all night. It wasn't good. Any phase of the game? I think he came on flat. We don't play is good. We can tonight. Not even close because you've got to learn from it, though. You know. It's like anything else in life. Whatever you know, if you fall down, you gotta get backup from you Can you can't let it Keep you down is there's a lot we can learn from his game. Katie to come out here and just expecting women. He supposed to speculate, But you gotta you gotta you gotta play like it. You know, you can't just throw your hands up. If you inform on thinking everything's gonna be all good. Like I said, way got worked in all phases of the game. But you guys, uh, running from it and just move on. We go. We gave you the robbers and their no bleeps says Censored was not censor. Dear King, saying we got our rear ends kicked and they did, R J And that's an embarrassing loss for Miami. They always seem to have one of these losses every year, don't they? At least one if not two, is basically since we've all been thinking of the you It has not been the you. I thought that perhaps Ed Reed joining this program as chief of staff for Manny Diaz was going to help them turn around. They got a brand new turnover chain and you know, they look good. Against All the bad teams, right? They got three top 25 opponents this year. They've won one of those games that have been today. Louisville team that should have never been right in the first place and is bad. They got stopped out by Notre Dame. They got stopped out by U. N. C and they got boat raced. Why, my goodness? Uh, Clemson. Thank you the opening statements. We gotta kick. There you go. That's how you know, man, he says you're going to deepen your analysis right there. He's getting working at it. I'm trying to find something new to say about it Got beat down, man like I watched this game and I'm seeing that we got running back started going for 302 100 yards. Russian There's not a lot of the Dallas is to give on that, Jeff. They couldn't stop the run and many D s coming in here, letting us all know what we all know the opening statements we gotta kick. Thank you, Manny. And by the way, I should I should have mentioned this. I sort of buried this. I feel bad because I'm piling on Miami, but Michael Carter in Devante Williams combined for an NC double a record 544 rushing yards. Rush 504 4, You Come on, You come on this headsets earlier tonight, and you're making fun of me because Illinois gave up 4, 11 and Northwestern. Mike! Pull that chief. Hold on there, Chief. Man is worse. 5 44. These guys combined for five touchdowns too. I mean, no wonder Mac Brown's dancing in the locker room 544 yards. Rushing Okay, let me let me let me try this again anytime soon. Manny Diaz once coach defense for Mack Brown at Texas. Manny Diaz is defense at Texas once gave up 550 yards rushing to BYU, a BYU team that was quarterbacked by Taysom Hill, for which Jeff will be the first person to tell you I don't think she'd be starting quarterback in the NFL. However, man succeeded in getting Manny Diaz fired. Bat forward to the day 554 yards rushing against the many DS defense with Mack Brown on.

Thompson has torn Achilles tendon, expected to miss season

"So it's the injury everybody's talking about but with clay sadly you gotta specify which injury you're talking about. Are you talking about the one in game. Six of the twenty nine thousand finals. The last time we saw him play a game or the one suffered earlier in the week. Which is an achilles tendon. Tear he is now out. It could be if the calendars right two and a half years between games. We're looking forward to having him back at the start of the twenty twenty one. Twenty two season knick. Fidel has been all over the warriors for years and he joins us on the shell. Pennzoil performance line nick. Good morning first thing. Just the response in and around the organization on the news zubin. Everybody's just depressed excited leading into the draft. And in the fact that wiseman was there at number two he was number one on their board and and they were just really looking forward to having steph klay draymond and then plugging in wiseman and seeing what we can give them and then they range of emotions in those couple of hours before the draft and then after the draft they really couldn't even celebrate. Everybody was so sad about clay. I mean he is the guy behind the scenes with all the star power in that locker room that sets the tone for everybody else. And that's why kerr and all those players they love it and so to know that he's going to be out again for another year which just crushing for. Everybody involved nikki. Give us an insight. Into how bob myers and company dealt with the news of klay thompson literally hours before the nba draft that make their decision challenging more challenging looking at other guys like lamelo ball considering he was going to be available. Jay bob address that right afterwards instead. Look wiseman was our guy if he was there we were taken him and obviously if the emotions involved right before the big or unprecedented we. We really never seen anything like it. Before where a star player who has won titles in an organization gets another serious injury right before you gotta make a huge selection for your future but all along when you talk to people in the organization they love what wise men could give them and they're confident that once he gets into their system playing and learning alongside draymond that he can be maybe that bridge or potentially down the line Tracey's nobody knows for sure but wiseman all along was their guy in. I don't think anything that happened with. Clay change to focus when he was number two

John Thompson took a chance on hapless Georgetown ... then worked a miracle

"Jay Bilas here because there's big college basketball breaking news this morning the death of John Thompson Junior age of seventy eight, one, thousand, nine, hundred, four NCAA championship winner the first African. American. Coach to take team to the men's College Basketball Championship his best player is now Georgetown's coach his son John. Thompson the third eventually followed him as head coach as well with Craig there in the middle giant for what he did for Eric African Americans in a giant with what he did in the game. Jay joins us on the Shell Pennzoil performance line this morning Jay good morning for those that may be too young or don't understand the scope of what John Thompson Junior meant to college basketball. How would you sum it up? He was a giant in in basketball both literally and figuratively, and he did so much for the game not only on the x No side that you did a substantial amount there. You know his Georgetown Teams especially when you got nineteen, eighty, seventy, nine, eighty through the early nineties they were a force and the best defensive coaches in the history of the game, his teams were very disciplined. Very smart and very together and that that's why they were so great defensively, it wasn't just that they were athletic. they were smart and disciplined. And almost went to the final four in nineteen eighty when John lost a a one point game to Iowa and that was lute Olson's first final four and lute Olson passed away a little earlier last week But John, Thompson. was that he was also fought for social justice before it was it was cool if you will. Think. You'll remember back in the eighties there was legislation by the NC double called proposition forty two. That put in a entrance requirements and they were disproportionately affecting African Americans and John Thompson and a game I. Believe it was Boston College got up before the tip and walked off the floor and protest with a towel over his shoulder and and you know he took a stand and took a stand on on multiple issues He was not always popular because the things that he was saying that time was really uncomfortable for for people to hear. And you can imagine I mean are people are uncomfortable. Now think how it was back in the in the late Seventies. Early Eighties one John Thompson was was setting a standard and with standing up on social issues. He he was a, he was a a great great person a man of of really high character and You know you don't want it to get lost what a great coach was but he was also a great man.

"Joins us via the Shell Pennzoil Performance line. He's going to give a straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk, Wireless straight talk. Wireless everything for less on Lee at WalMart. See what we did Two things two spots. Kendrick. You'll permit such a big deal. It takes two sponsors to bring you on the show. I made I made. Listen, I'm tell you, First of all, congratulations on yourself, but I say has not come on here for you to run my blood person today. I'm you right now, but leave a good thought. But we even get thought. Let me tell you something right now Someone's writing a Sonny Liston biography a biopic for you to star in your own old soul. Perk You like a grumpy old curmudgeon. But you're too young you're about how do you You're like 10 years younger than you 35 35. Brother. You were born at 35 35 of the sum sum made somebody mistaking me as Morris Chestnut. I'm just saying I could have sworn I saw you beat Cleveland Williams back in 66. What are you talking about? You in eight rounds? Listen, I know your grandma watches. First date doesn't show you've mentioned that yes, she wanted all. And what does she say about the way you talk to me on first Take She said. Don't shout makes like But what? Why? Why is that? Because he actually she actually enjoy listening to you. She and George's show she enjoys first take. She watches you. She's a big fan of boxed in, by the way, those annoying Yes, she did know you for a while. So so she's a big fan of yours. That's that's what that's right. That's right. Learn some respect for your elders. Hey, perk. I bet she's considering the way you I think you're a TV star and considering the way you because there are curmudgeons in the sports media, right? And you're that and early on. I thought Well, perk is just a criminal genius. It could better the way his ever played them the way they play. Now. It's good, but you actually have real depth to your analysis and your game and everything. And the way you talking on TV. It has to make me think your grandma has personality, too, right? I'm guessing she has a good personality. He's got another personality played. Fire you. I want you to ask her to come on this radio show I want. What do you call grandma? Carlo Grandly I want Granny. I want granny on the radio show watching that granny, If you are watching, I want you to come on this show. She's a boxing fan, too. You know it. All right. You said you didn't come to get your blood pressure worked up, but that's precisely what's gonna happen. What do you have to say? You had problem with anything I said so far on the show. No, I have no. Have you been for the first for the second time? You've been dated on and I agree with you also. You've been spot on about everything you have been saying for the first seconds time I agree with what was the first time I think it was talking about something I have to do with the Raptor is some today nature finally agree with you all some way. Disagree so much. So, I mean you literally. So you mean that literally like you don't even remember the topic. But you remember that we disagree so much that this is only the second time we've agreed. Like If I say Hey, it's a nice day You're going to say no. This day is the weather is terrible like that type of stuff. Yeah. I mean, you're in New York. I mean, I mean, I mean used, so I mean, I might have to disagree, which Stealing signs while you're there. What? Why? Why do you bring that up? Just say, just say that's all of their lives. By the way, you know? You should feel some type of way as the New York Knicks watching position and the beautiful basketball that he's been playing for the Dallas I mean, if Obama, New York your number and I'm a diehard need, man born and raised in New York, I feel some type of way. The way Dallas just told him from the mean literally just told him I was a diehard Nixon. I was a die hard Mets fan and I died hard. I'm dead. I'm a Lakers fan. Now. When did l. A radio for six years I gave up the next Because that dude, James Dolan, Is so incompetent as owner off the Knicks. Perk. And then he sent his minions out to spend its beat me in the head with this nonsense about about well, we're rebuilding the team. Like what kind of an idiot do you take the fans for? What type of an idiot do you take me for? Members of the media for your trading A 7 ft. Three Unicorn, Who's Who's a monster on offense, and his offense is only half as good as his defense, and he's still getting better. You trade that do with a personality like that fit right in in the N B a in New York City on his rookie deal and have the nerve to look a straight in the eye and Perkins. You might say Fix your mouth to tell us that that you trade himto build for the future. Hey, geniuses you build around him for the future and they didn't get anything for him. No, No, they get nothing back. Nothing bad. No debate. You know what? Dallas Dallas traded jobs you've used l 3 50 got back a Rose Roy. That's unbelievable. That is. Do you agree? I say if I say if If if he stays healthy, if presented, stays healthy, given his age, given the trajectory of his career and his improvement till he got hurt. Now he's back to where he was expected to get better than this. A lot of times we see a dude or what I was going to get better and better. He never really does. But the time he gets the wisdom, the body starts to go, But I look at his age and the way he was developing and I say yet I think Porzingis is going to get significantly better than this. And this is already a damn good player like a game changing player. I say if he stays healthy, there's an M V P and a championship in his future. I agree. And you know what? Let me be the first to apologize because I actually called posing is a diva and me watching him play because I didn't know what was going on all in New York and all I kept hearing them Do Was complain about the organization and, you know, miss Exit meetings pill if I was if I was if I was playing for their French, as I would have been missed it next to the dysfunctional I wantto apologize, posing Because I called him a diva for the way that he cared themselves all started basketball for the way he had the organization, But I would have done the same way now and quick. So ask your questions. After his Davis and maybe Jochen, right? He's the next. He's the next big in line, right when you look up, versatile guy, you He's seven to He could shoot the three he got. He got turned around over both soldiers. He could put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket. And I'm not talking about a basic line. Right hand drive. No, I'm talking about actually put some jelly into crossing over euro. Step it and by the way, underrated Take I would like to see them on the black a little bit more, but that's not what the game is about. We've seen that last night. Watching Joe will be posted today. But when you look at what he brings to the table for us, every guy that could pick and pop off, mix it up in picking Roland Dynamic role a lot threaded the rim. I don't see him. He could possibly he could possibly win the M V. P And I do see him and Luca dances in the next 6 to 7 years. At least women want at least one. That's what I'm saying at least one they would beat the Clippers yesterday, Perkins Listen, Thank you for coming on the show. And I hope that hearing a lot more from you on the show in the future. "Join us on the Shell Pennzoil performance, and I think it's worth owning for everybody many, many moons ago that looked in Colin Kaepernick and said, Well, he's going to be bad for business in all of this, Despite the source of what he was doing being a cause that we could all agree now is just I think we all have talked about looking back on and saying was miss appropriate. Was inappropriately cast as something negative. Most people look back now and say, All right, What was that? The source of that police being against police brutality. All those things are a cause that we have all rally behind. We have seen a lot more people rally behind, so people looked at that said, Well, that's bad for business. And so he's going to be bleep out of luck in this situation, right? You look at this now in a mascot that has its origins in a racial slur and say, Well, we're seeing very clearly The response is bad for business. And so anyone that was for that back then should be right lining up getting ready. Hey, well, bad for business. This logo should be gone right? And that's what that's why capitalism capitalism, But like logically, you can't separate them. We never even got really proof. In the instance of Colin Kaepernick that it was financially detrimental here. You had a bunch of rating statistics that were proven to be skewed and inaccurate in a lot of those ways, and instead here again, looking at the source of both those if you were looking at that crying capitalism, look here and keep the energy speaking of keeping the energy. You know, when your dad was down there for that segment, we did plays God screen Earth on Patrick Mahomes. And I could just say our researcher, Vic has been bringing it for the last couple of days and going back to his first year as a full time starter. He had the one game 2017 last year. The season he started in Denver. The chief's beat the Broncos. These were the 1st 3 pass attempts for Patrick homes in his first game as a true NFL starter. First past four attempts. Four yards to Sammy Watkins, second past six yards of Travis Kelsey. Third Pass attempt, 58 yard touchdown pass to Tyree Kill what took him so long to score? Honestly. Like what? Why do you want to go back? I mean, why did it take three pass attempts? Oh, it is. It is amazing. I remember I called a Texas Tech. I actually called one of Cliff Kingsbury's last games. There's the Texas Tech head coach, and this was the year Patrick was going to go on to win the MVP. And so we were asking him about in the production meetings and talking about kind of that stock. When did you know? And he said very first scrimmage, said Pat came in had no idea what he was doing and tossed five touchdowns in the first scrimmage. And you just looked up. And you knew exactly that. All right? We have something special. Kind of like what we heard from Louis. Riddick, that Brett Dejan Andy Reid in everyone from that first mini camp that they had with Pat knew they had something special. Basically started drawing this agreement up back then because they knew they were handed something special. Yeah, they were on day handed him something special. Ah, half a $1,000,000,000 contract. That is that is my brand of special. By the way, if any of you were thinking, I would like to get Mike a special gift. Coming up in the future. Make it a gift that somewhat resembles that. Yeah, exactly. Right. So again, we'll see what happens. Going forward with the Washington team changing their name. And how long that internal review takes way. Also again, we've got Jimmy Johnson back and racing this weekend..

"A second segment with us if he continues on the shell Pennzoil performance he is fighting steep pay August fifteenth and this one should be interesting they fought a couple of times before you made him a Brazilian soccer player goes by one name of the pay me church and they fought a couple of times and I can I think I can say your heart was broken in one of those fights right because you felt like you had it yeah you know the first flight I I I I got a knock out thank you bye I I get knocked out it was it was awful man but it's good that now we get to fight at the McConnell we can't get to the world always great great like you know these big time flights will you get a phone call told Cajun but the one that's great you know but yeah man very disappointed with the second fight specially with the way that it started I mean I was way out ahead and then kind it kind of gave it up but we're trying to make the right collections before we enter the third flight tracking only capture the championship why might that be your last fight it's not you know they're looking and we all are it's always a good time right like there's a time for everybody I told someone that last week I said if I had to build my way back into a championship fight I couldn't do in forty one years old I prefer to go right back into the title fight with the guy that isn't her young about two thirty nine I can do that you know we could go back the plight of young I worked my way back up into a title I I I understand it was cold and you know be great champion can beat anybody on one night but that's that's it's legal finish this trilogy with Miele kitchen try to end on top forty one years old can you tell us the difference how it feels fighting at forty one verses of thirty one all so different at thirty one I was just getting started that's when I actually started fighting but you know thirty two thirty three you know god I would get up in the morning I would just jump off the bridge we'll do stuff now if the process you know I get up and I I got I got a stretch before I go to bed I have fond I have you should see my my house now I've got a song in my backyard I've got a hyperbaric chamber might all be things not usually covered Daniel Cormier with us here on ESPN radio hold on a second Daniel we got to get your phone line fixed as to god's told you DC and Awani podcast wherever you get your podcasts he is he is just been a sterling sterling example for this sport in every way it's not like literally the only thing I think that you can criticize Daniel Cormier eighty four is that you want to be entertained when the gladiators fight and it's not aesthetically pleasing to watch him smother somebody because he is such an extraordinary wrestler but the only thing standing between this guy and one of the great champions ever is bones Jones the greatest fighter I've ever seen your phone line was crap out there Daniel so what is it that you were saying I just said that I've got like a lot of recovery things I've got a phone in my backyard I'm a hyperbaric chamber in the garage at sap all these new recovery things that that I have to make sure that my body doesn't break down as I'm as I'm getting ready for the fight but that's really the only difference I don't feel I don't feel slower I don't feel like I can't work as hard I just feel like I need to really focus on the recovery when I'm done putting in the work what hurts the most on your body or body parts my back so I I heard a rustle my whole life since I was a kid in fighting hello my back was all messed up and that was part of the reason you know part of the deal going into the second flight I had back surgery in December of two thousand and eighteen control I wasn't necessarily healthy going into the last flight but I feel much better now as I start this drinking where do you place yourself I was just saying when your phone line crap that that the only thing that's keeping you from being like one of the legacy champions in that sport in my mind is the fact that bones Jones stood in your way on a couple of fights where do you place yourself when you look back at your career Daniel you say I put myself here in terms of what I accomplished I think that when you look at what I've done are you have to you know listening amongst the greatest fighters of all time you know I'm one of the light heavyweight championship twice I've won the heavyweight championship I had both of both at the same time well the first person to defend them both you know there's just a lot of things and you know I've lost three fights and I lost twice to Jones and I lost in the old church but even when we look at where those guys sitting in it he history of the sport looking back you know these are the best fighting the world so I think what I think I would be listed among the greatest but I do believe that once I'm not fighting anymore it'll be easier for people to appreciate all that I did are we appreciated now even though I find myself more deeply disappointed in you generally than I have ever been okay like I I I I you can get all you want it's infuriating okay I'm I'm with the people I'm with the labor and you will call management it is simply unacceptable and worse than that you are now countering my secret weapon which you're going to teach him how to ground and pound and my my weapon was going to be just laying on him and you've really Hey I'm sorry again I apologize ma'am let's listen all I can hope for is helpful for both come back and that's both Kamal only after the fact you can't listen even when the fights over you want to stop talking it doesn't matter what happens with these guys they don't stop talking you thought I'd prefer to just do the talking is that okay durables you you're broadcasting career has been much easier like you don't need a hyperbaric chamber not stop for recovery after talking Hey Dan and actually that's another thing right I'm sort of beef with pretty good money call it five dollars off light okay yeah it I'm going to be good for you give me a call in the fight when I get an active quite nice as a craft table there's no practical life the black one.

"Shell Pennzoil performance line tell what stood out to you from our chat with coach Mike Boynton just a transparent he is and he with the entire thing you know very no sugar coating it I love the Kevin you know me for a good amount of time now I I I don't like to beat around the bush I like want to know where I stand if you could tell right away that if he's your head coach through thick and thin he's gonna tell you straight out as I I just I appreciate that I also appreciate him not beat around the bush regarding he thought he was wrong he thought it was wrong that when the person accused does go to jail he feels like the penalty is there which I completely agree with and the other aspect to Kevin that really stood out to me is that the university didn't do anything wrong yes an employee of the university did but here's where I struggle with these penalties wire repent allies zing these kids that had zero point zero to do with it yeah that's what stood out to me talking to coach but that's also a question that you you heard me I asked him that question he didn't really have an answer for it that's my question for the in NCAA thank you really gonna punish that kids those kids that were twelve thirteen fourteen fifteen when this occurred that's where I struggle with this cabinet because now you're compounding it on individuals that had zero point zero to do with it that's where you lose me but I'll tell you one thing I was very impressed with how transparent coach Boyd was right and you know listen we're we're we're talking about a guy who has coaching at Oklahoma state here they've got a top five recruiting class and they've got arguably the number one player top three player in this class coming in he's projected already to be the number one pick in the twenty twenty one NBA draft in Kate Cunningham so I mean the stakes couldn't be higher here and and you said it perfectly immediate these are these are sins that were committed by someone else when Mike was not in charge and the university did what it could immediately and by the way look you know the I'm not one of these people that consistently knocks the NC double a right I mean this is a very very difficult task that they're in charge of but boy there are just some unbelievable inconsistencies with the way that they go after a program like Sierra college selectively what other programs are doing so many other things that go so far beyond that and you know let let's be totally fair there's another school the big twelve right now then Oklahoma state was dealt with like this what's the NC double a gonna do with them so there are issues there but for Mike to come on and address these things again I you know that my my intentional long was you know Mike is such an engaging guide you can see why he's successful and what that program is going to be successful let's get on here about that well I didn't expect to be talking about the situation that we've had over the past two weeks and he handled that perfectly I certainly didn't expect to be speaking with him about his program being put on one year postseason ban and three years probation and reduction of scholarships and recruiting he came on to face the music can you handle that beautifully and we'll be bringing that interview back here later in the show but what impressive guy again I was really really impressed with the way and have been since I've known of the way that he handled all that C. Kevin I am one that has been completely after the NCAA because after I find them hypocritical in more situations that not in in this is another example of that but I'll tease this for the rest of the show will get into this a little bit later but sign on Williams said of what happens with that situation whatever he has to say in a court of law that is going to raise some real eyebrows and that program because if if it it's a big if there was any penalty or any problem by Zion Williamson was at Duke Kevin how the NCAA handles that will be a huge huge site I think we'll answer into how they view this because you can't do it for one in Siena college and then look at Duke University and say we'll let that slide you just can't it's a huge issue facing college sports is a huge issue facing society right now and that is the subject of race drew Brees making headlines this week do you forgive his apology that's coming up next black people have been crying for a while longer and Jewish lawyers there and all genetically on her the real problem and I'm ashamed of that this.

"The show appear via the shell Pennzoil performance line I'm not worried about the potential first round picks Courtney with all the restrictions now the NFL has to put in place as far as the pre draft process goes no visiting team facilities you know pro days are being canceled both first round picks are going to be first round picks but as you pointed out on several occasions it's those players in the latter rounds war with character issues I think they're going to really miss out the most with these activities not going on as previously scheduled yeah and the thing that we need to remember here is the top thirty visits that when teams are allowed to bring those players into their facilities it's it's not just for you know the work out part or anything like that it's getting to sit in front of them to see them to read their body language and see how they react to certain questions are asked and I think guys who are quote unquote those red flags players guys with character concerns you know teams are making an investment when they draft you and anybody you can think of a number of players who the supplied to over the last few years Dalvin cook was one of those players I cover him now in Minnesota Joel mixin Jeffery Simmons last year those are the type of players who I think will inevitably be hindered by the way that the coronavirus is hurting the NFL right now by the lead deciding to prohibit all in person pre draft visits involving draft eligible players now beyond that there was a really cool event that was going to happen in Miami for March twenty seventh to twenty nine this year the dolphins facility it was the H. B. C. use of historically black colleges and universities combine that's the first event of its kind it would have been really neat because it was an invitation for players who were not invited to the regular scouting combine in Indianapolis and then the NFL also has a regional combine event that would have been in conjunction with that that same weekend those are the kids who were most likely late day three prospects probably UDFA is in even beyond that like priority college free agents the ones who come to you want to try out basis that's true this is gonna hurt the most not the first round picks now the guys who are even second row second day picks those rounds two and three they have so much tape on them scouts have seen these guys for years they have their notes they know how they could potentially fit into a team it's the lesser known guys who I think are really going to you know have trouble finding spots on NFL rosters but specifically through the draft because those tests numbers don't exist for them or at least not in a database that scouts have readily available from you know current times so that to me I think it's just the hard part in something we definitely need to work on a contingency plan because you know you start to see yesterday I know you and I talked about Shea Patterson and several other Michigan players were hosting their own pro day because Michigan canceled there's late this week and then they're able to send that film to colleges will maybe there's some sort of way that these other guys who are supposed to be this regional combine in the H. B. C. U. combine in Miami maybe they can try to salvage that somehow I feel bad for those players there's there's no doubt about it perhaps though for like the first round pick guys you know maybe this could almost be like a blessing in disguise Courtney because now teams don't over think it I mean your game tape is what matters the most and I can't tell you how many times I've seen the team I cover draft guys who jumped out of pools because they jumped out of pools are draft guys because you know they have these incredible measurables the scene this guy running for three forty at the combine and then he just sucked in the NFL or you know I just think like you know or you know how can you know again like we're going to draft a guy because we we thought he was great during our visit even though he was the losing quarterback at the Sun Bowl and we could have drafted the winning quarterback of the national champion Clemson Tigers or were you referring to or a future hall of Famer yes you will have no idea totally random right there what made maybe now this will force teams to say okay we don't have pro days we don't have visits let's just draft the players that impressed us the most on the field because that is what matters how you played how you behaved in college what kind of teammate you were in college like let's let's put the emphasis back on that more than how the guy looks at a pro day in a closed environment on familiar turf doing things that anyone should do things that they trained to do forty yard dashes vertical jump stuff like that since so many workout warriors get drafted above where they should be drafted because people sometimes tend to gravitate more towards that then how these guys actually play on the field which Courtney at the end of the day is what matters the most well there's going to be a far greater reliance on summer fall all star game evaluations by scouts who you know that's their entire job they're not around the team that they're scouting for during those months that I just mentioned because they're on the road living you know the road warrior life trying to find the diamonds in the rough in in getting these evaluations and finding the players and how they might fit for their team they're bringing all of that information they gather at the end and they bring it back when they have these college scouting meetings you know once they're pull all pulled off the road I believe it's the end of November once the college football season ends so this is going to be the time yeah it's it's you're you're hard pressed I'm hard pressed to say this because I know college football okay no NFL coaches they know everything and they you know in GM's that you know everything but you've got to trust your scouts through this process because you can't be on the road during those months looking at these guys because your focus on your team and trying to win games during the sixteen game season trusting your area scouts trusting that you know your personnel department I mean you hire these people for a reason let them do their jobs make their voice matter hear their voice throughout these conversations because they're the ones who actually see these guys interact with these prospects I mean I know that at the end of the day it's usually the general manager and head coach who are either an agreement or not in I agreement but they still these players still get drafted the input of scouts I think will be as important as it's ever been this year when so much access is now limited in these final weeks to getting to you know make sure that all these players that you're looking at check the boxes and you know over thinking your board and moving guys around I know a lot of teams they will our board set by such and such date there's always last minute decisions that come into play here and a lot of those come from scouts I think that making sure that they have a very loud voice in this is going to you know show you who wins the draft and who doesn't those resource you talked about are available to everybody like you don't have to have a pro day you don't have to have a personal visit doesn't make you feel better maybe but I mean you've got all you need if you just look at how they played in college you've got the college all star game for some of these players and you add the combine so for anyone and after the draft if anyone would say publicly you know we just didn't have enough information or or wait just wait for this one forty three years from now will be a bust in the top five and that GM will be like yeah but that was the year there were no protests so how are we supposed to know no you've got enough to know okay everything's out there for you I need to now tell you that right well you know we just didn't CMR forty eight schools all sorry the bus yeah we are all playing the coronavirus let's go back to college basketball coming up Rick Pitino is the new head coach at Iona and someone who knows him really well is gonna tell us why it's a grand slam higher sticker set in hud DSP in radio and the ESPN app.

What Else Did Shel Silverstein Write?

"Decades ago in the evenings around closing time a man with a very bald head and a very dark beard used to come sloping into the mysterious bookshop in New York City. His shoulders hunched is the warding off a perpetual cold wind. The proprietor auto pens ler had come to expect these visits indeed. He looked forward to them. He would close up the shop and guide the man back to his. Inner Sanctum. A book lined study with floor-to-ceiling shelves there the bearded man would deliver a Sheaf of papers containing a new freshly penned mystery story to be added to the theology. That Pencil publishing the writer refused to take any money for his efforts. Even though pens lawyer was paying well. He craved compensation. His eyes gleamed as pennsly- slid his payment across the desk between them. It was a stack of used books containing dozens of stories written in the mystery genre later that night he would devour them one by one but first pens lawyer and the bearded man would talk and talk. They talked about books about life. Auto pens layer was just recovering from a devastating break-up and so they spoke about battling in a recent phone interview for this article. Pennsly- remembered that at a certain juncture. His guests said something so piercingly insightful and eloquent about the break up that it took his breath away Henseler said I wish I could remember what he said but I failed to write it down what I do remember. Is that when I expressed my amazement at his facility with words he just shrugged and said I guess that's why they call me a poet. He could've added among many other things because our bald and bearded man was Shel Silverstein a true renaissance man. Of course many of us know him as the author and illustrator of the giving tree a light in the attic and where the sidewalk ends among many of the other wildly successful books that he wrote Andrew for children. That's only the tip of the proverbial Iceberg Silverstein also drew cartoons and wrote plays for adults and penned numerous songs especially country songs. In fact he won. Two grammys for song. Writing one of them for the Johnny Cash. Hit A boy named Sue Sheldon Allen. Shel Silverstein was born into a Jewish family in Chicago in nineteen thirty his father and a bakery which only began to thrive in the wake of the Great Depression. After high school. Shell spent some time studying at the Art Institute of Chicago and later Roosevelt University but was drafted into the US army serving in Korea and Japan. Silverstein began working for the military periodical. Stars and Stripes and it was there that he began regularly publishing his idiosyncratic cartoons after his military service Silverstein got a job as a cartoonist. For the fledgling magazine. Playboy for his playboy gig. He traveled the world sending cartoon dispatches from Bahrein wide in nineteen sixty three Silverstein. Met Book Editor Ursula Nordstrom. Who prodded him into writing books for Children? And that same year he wrote the giving tree a book about the nature of Altruism and selfishness there would become his most famous and popular work his sense of the absurd and the whimsical cartoon line drawings that illustrated this and all of his books would become his hallmarks in deceptively simple language. His exploration of the innocence and imagination of childhood made him one of the most celebrated and widely read authors for generations of children and adults like Auto Penn's lair recall Silverstein telling him that he spent a year living at the playboy mansion as a guest of Hugh Hefner. It was there that he met Susan Hastings with whom he had daughter named Shoshana in nineteen seventy tragically. Susan died in nineteen seventy five and two. Shana passed away. Unexpectedly after cerebral aneurysm. In one thousand nine hundred two by many accounts her death utterly devastated Silverstein in Nineteen eighty-four. He had a son named Matthew with Sarah Spencer. According to Pens Ler Silverstein was a deeply eccentric. Man Pennzoil told us for instance. It wasn't unusual for him to be having dinner in a restaurant with a group of friends and then suddenly announced that he was done. Get up take a taxi to the airport and flight of Chicago or Los Angeles or Florida or wherever he felt like going on the spur of the moment shel. Silverstein died of a heart attack in nineteen ninety nine at the age of just sixty eight but in story song and image. He left behind a remarkably prolific artistic record.

"The show appear via the shell Pennzoil performance line had a great debate before the show we could we talk about it on the show and then about the Astros and I mean it's just not going to go away and people can say let it go move on move the drill but until the other Major League Baseball players let it go this will not be let go they will decide how long this will be a story because Major League Baseball the players fraternity will decide what type of retribution there's going to be against the Astros who are documented cheaters the over under right now for Astros getting hit by a pitch in two thousand twenty and it is eighty three point five are you over or under give me the over because that's about once a little more than once every other game and I've listened don't don't forget they're going to accidentally get hit too you know there will be times when it's not intentional but I think there will be multiple teams especially the teams that the Astros beat in the playoffs that when given an opportunity they look around going Hey we're winning this game is nobody on base they're probably going to pluck somebody and I can honestly can't blame when you look at the commissioner of Major League Baseball not handing out any suspensions for the players if there's a feeling that there is no accountability for the players who actually cheated so guys are going to take it in there okay everyone else on the show saying under Pat as he Chris they're all they'll have the under I know eighty three and a half is a big number that it has a lot of guys getting hit by pitch but I'm I'm good at it I'm gonna follow suit with you I'm gonna be over for this reason for this reason there has been absolutely no shrew contrition shown by the Astros like everything has been scripted nothing has been sincere as far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter how I feel what matters is how the people that are gonna end up hitting them feel and I'm sorry and it I've watched all the reaction pouring from spring training locations across Major League Baseball I haven't seen too many guys stand up there go to the podium and say you know what we feel bad it happened they feel bad it happened I know they would never do it again the Astros those are stand up guys we're going to get a free pass I I haven't I haven't heard that we've heard the exact opposite basically the players actually staying like like on the record that everyone in that Astros clubhouse deserves a beating like so that tells me that the players around Major League Baseball are not satisfied with what they're hearing by the Astros thus far yeah I agree it's it's pretty much they've almost been defiant in their apologies which yeah I know that's kind of sounds weird but it's like yeah we're sorry that our fans are disappointed let her know why you're not sorry that you thank you cheated just say I'm sorry we cheated you know where we whatever that Major League Baseball has you know planned for us as far as punishment we deserve it we take it I think people would move on but they've had a very they've had an arrogance inside of those apologies that has only made things worse and I realized that we have reached the point now in the story cycle where Astros players have said they're receiving threats and their families receiving threats thank you and I are in full agreement vats no one with a functioning brain should ever wish violence or harm anyone associated with really anything especially new baseball cheating scandal right light or air or anything like that I mean really how stupid do you have to be to do something like that that's a given unfortunately though fortunately in the world we live in now and then this happens all the time so it's not as if this is just unique to the Astros situation so while I feel that they should never have to endure this this is just the world we live in so I mean I guess if you're trying to build sympathy with people because you're making these these these you know happenings public knowledge I don't think it's going to work for a lot of people do you no I don't we all know that there are a bunch of idiots on Twitter and social media we know look I've had I I'm not famous by any means and I've had people on Twitter say some mean and disgusting things to me just because of my opinion on you know a quarterback here in Cleveland are somebody else it happens and I'm pretty sure the Astros before this came out that they've had players are have fans rather tweet disgusting ridiculous things to them in the past that social media and I don't believe that that that response from these anonymous idiots on Twitter has anything to do I mean maybe it's happening more often than it did but like that's part of it right that's part of having any type of notoriety and all sold they had people shouldn't be tweeting that type of stuff at you but to me what that has nothing to do with what's going on right now right like that that really doesn't change how you reacted to it it doesn't change the things that you said it doesn't change the fact that you accepted almost no responsibility it doesn't change the fact your honor what went out there and said that your blatant and just rampant cheating had no impact on the games that he bears no personal responsibility for what I'm saying so like and that's all that stuff don't get me wrong but but what does that have to do with how the Astros have bungled this from the very start if they wanna make sure that they're not being thrown out this year then they need to change their tune publicly a lot and make some number to make amends behind closed doors none of which admit that we've observed lease yet has happened no not at all that my question is do you think anyone gets hit in a spring training baseball because if they're dumb enough to put wholesale to the up to the plate in spring training and he deserves to get hit all right because you're gonna let some normally guy throw at you because there is no they don't care about guys like that if the Astros right mark they would just have simulated at bats and batting practice and then show up when the regular season begins and see what happens I I coming up next if the new CBA is accepted by the players how will the contract be affected your listing the Dickerson hood with M. A. Golding in for Jonathan this afternoon this is ESPN radio Roger.

"Shell Pennzoil performance like let's talk adjustments here to take nothing away from Mike Rabal and anything he by dial up for the Titans heading into the second half offer somebody's the final thirty minutes of their season if you're that tightens locker room dean pees rapes whoever it is what do you down of what's the one thing Bobby that you feel like you have to address or change or whatever the most well you have to find a way to get pressure on the homes they do so in doing that without giving up all your coverage responsibilities of Donna did a good job early they have to get a stop here first and foremost you're talking right now coming out how do you stop we cannot let them doubles up on scores in back to back possessions we've got to get a stop you the ball back and then we've got a fine the way to give three now what we're gonna do we're gonna umbrella coverages guys gonna find a way to use force them to drive no big plays maybe get a sack of homes every now and then we can find a way to get a stripper force to turn over something like that but we cannot allow them to have these big explosive gains were short someone come through the air you know your target killed through the semen and some of them homes are scrambling around and running like that that could not happen that can do the one thing that could not happen for this Tennessee Titans defense Titans for the Titans Randy the best thing that happened was half time because this is mental like you can talk about physical adjustments will have to make it there definitely are some I think you got to find ways to make a note we talk about the man versus old maybe you have to just place a man here help you can get home against Patrick homes make a little bit uncomfortable but this is mental you need to get one stop to let your defense know that it's even capable because the chiefs have gone back to back to back drives with touchdowns good tight even think its possible right now to stop the chiefs they have to get one stop to let the bleed outlook and believe thank you because if if if the Peace Corps again right now and I said I thought the game is already over yeah bye bye bye in Dover I was using your eyes so it'll it'll just be over over is it like right now you're on record twenty eight seventeen it's over that's it okay right now on record as saying it's over but then if they need to get one stop your what because I mean honestly they need to put their own mental status Titans team is so tough mentally they need to get one and say okay we'll see if we had the ball back over to our offense and let their can re do what he's been doing we have a chance it's not and we cancel this guy down we cannot slow down this king homes will because it with you get that stuff feel what skill are you do you give the ball back to her if you get a score it puts you in the lead again it is always your winning you feel better about the situation it doesn't mean you feel like you're also going to win the game but you have a little bit conference gives you the ability to say Hey you know what we're playing with a leader as long as we can keep continue to hold them back we're gonna be okay we're going to be fine we just can't give up the big play and let them score or down the field so they can get this thing back the twenty four twenty one then it's like Hey we can share trade punches and eventually you know what though make a mistake is we can just continue to hammer the football down the field on but they've got to find a way early this drive because the thing is to there is the Titans then play along a defense the first out there on the field for about twelve minutes but you felt like the last five minutes of the get the half was all the tides on defense they don't want to be out here for a long gated possession to open up the second half either no I did you know you look at it right now it's to a point with this Tennessee Titans defense or even incompletions feel like wins and they just had one along a completion to look AT retiree hill there's gonna be a spot debate here on a pass from a patch of homes it out in the flat I I will say it now this is out of out of Robinson it looks like our tomorrow I I did I'm impressed by how much they're using Damian Williams I'm surprised it Tennessee's lack of adjustment to that it's thinking dog but I mean it's seventy yards a pop right now the second half that was John the scoring Dr that set a patch of homes is out of rushing touch wood it was the homes rushing touchdown the big play is what did it it's not these plays underneath will give him a couple drives like that you just cannot let them take the top off the defense you have to give up some again since you've seen right at that's a problem you cannot stop everything is right there they forced him into a third and three it looks now as of an incomplete pass those go to for support so that field I thought Hey when they score they're it's over and they're not gonna be able to they're not gonna be able to get the ball back in kids he's gonna have the ball there and we had to leave the rest of game yeah it's game set match you just have to force that one stop to be able to get the ball back get the lead as a looks like in your read is going to challenge this play of two feet in bounds but if that's what they have to find a way to do is to just feel that possession it feels odd it feels odd right now hi to challenge there it it feels okay their tools fifth twelve if you want to play in the third quarter and eighty res using one of these challenges but I think he recognizes just as you do feel just as you do body that if this is a scoring drive this game is effectively over and I don't know that Sammy Watkins has possession of the football with his right foot in bounces right that's the question comes down out of bounds left foot in bounds but I don't know what does not have a good day already has bad drop in this game above him squarely in one of his numbers on his chest and sit now for targets now to grab for twenty four yards but they're going to take a look at this I believe we have after the challenger from maybe read what we'll see what they decide that's not an FC here guys again feel this will go down on on your watch it's a heavy line a heavy favorite Caesar sports book as San Francisco is the eight point favorite over green bank considering the way the regular season match up went at it feels like the right number of what if anything can Green Bay due to change maybe not the overall outcome certainly what they want to just make a game this game is won or lost up front where it feels like I don't even know if the Titans imposing their will offensively and the offense of line because they have done that right the tides office has been great in terms of pass protection and also walking for Derrick Henry I don't know if it matters I just don't know right because back Patrick homes the fevers are just so good but for the forty Niners in the Packers it's a line a scrimmage game today really is can the smiths on defense get enough pressure to force Jimmy Rapallo into a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes is if they do the Packers in a couple of they're not trick plays rock gimmick plays but a couple of hitting yardage plays that really help the course of this gamer took the favor of this game into green bay's lap otherwise I just think play it and play out the forty Niners are the superior to any of you look at that I that I referenced earlier where it was thirteen nothing going into the end of the first half and then the last five six minutes I can't remember the exact even less than that services who exploded for ten points in his twenty three yeah the first have Green Bay did affect your McGraw pelo in the problem was in the second half they were able to affect Jimmy grapple because he didn't have to throw the ball because they're up twenty three to nothing coming into halftime so that changes the bat from what you're supposed to be able to do and it was all pushed on air Roger so Green Bay has to keep this thing close and then ultimately hope the Smith brothers to maybe have a huge impact play strip sacked tip deflection forces interception somewhere and then Rogers is going to have to be the Rogers that we've come to know and love over the last five six years that is making all schedule plays not three interceptions of doing some great things it's going to have the opportunity to do it he's got the offense of lives gonna unfortunately I think put him in that position against a hungry defensive line for the Niners I think San Francisco's going to the Superbowl I'd love to see my homes against Rogers but I'll see if that pans out it is the football frenzy with Anthony Salter Mike had a bomb in Enfield it's come out body man is but a lot of fun a lot of fun considering that we hardly knew each other before the season started and I know I've enjoyed it but a good time for us absolutely Sir appreciate me alright hi Chris here have done we'll turn things over to fielding company this is an operation football "Shell Pennzoil performance line will bring in another guest via the gel pens or performance live our guy who's been with us all day in Houston Scott Harrison with our final update from bill's tax since what do you what grade deshaun Watson was sacked seven times a day by the time you really need to get all you did you'll see this maybe on SportsCenter later tonight he was almost struck by a couple guys at midfield but got a passed out at high while Jones down to the ten yard line a thirty four yard pass our in overtime to hide it nineteen and then comes in and he kicks a field goal for twenty eight yards and of that gives the wind the too with the taxes and so they will move on into the next round of the playoffs so once again it is the Houston Texans in overtime defeat the Buffalo Bills final score twenty two nineteen big thanks for all the updates Scott right now we'll go to Lisa Salters live with JJ watt on the field is is is one of the two the motion sixty two this is the change four chairs the show was think about nineteen in the world did you escape that's I'll see zero the play is it's almost a display service system did you even see did you learn about your team today thank you great stuff there from JJ wanted the Sean walked on the field with Lisa Salters this is game down Greggs tells us he's been hard soccer ESPN radio ESPN out Sirius XM channel eighty were still joined by former NFL offense of linemen Alex booting guys it's time to finally react to a game that bad you astutely call drunk very early on and continue to play out in a very exciting fashion there but ultimately the Sean walked in a winner in college now in winter again at least gets his first NFL playoff win there ends up putting the Texans in a position to win that game in overtime was that the biggest difference between these two teams the quarterback the play of Josh Albers the play the Sean Watson bent yeah I think so because they they made the they both made big throws and they both made some mistakes but the Sean wants and his wings weren't as as far he just kept consistent the the thing that that is but that is going to be frustrating and I I don't want to bring in Alex ask about this is as an offense of linemen the you're going to get blamed for every sack that is a loud but the Sean Watson is the reason for a lot of sacks in the Houston they're you know they're they're they're the eighth most sacked team in the NFL this season there's so they they give up a lot of sex but it's not always offense of line and that can be maddening as a guy that's protecting a quarterback but you have to if you if you have a guy like this on Watson you have to be willing to take the good with the bad you're gonna take sacks because he's going to try to he he's gonna try to include everyone so for every time that he gives up a sack or hold on to the ball too long or or you know isn't at eight yards where the office of eight or nine yards with the offense of linemen like for him to be as they protect him you have to realize he's going to do some of those plays but you're going to get plays like the one that alternately save the game for them wins then that game in unbelievable Houdini ask move so my question for you Alex is is how do you manage that as an office of line and it can be so maddening that you know you're blocking at a point but when you've got an athletics now quarterbacking you block for Colin Kaepernick's I know you know this how do you guys manage at his office alignment up I guess we don't anymore now there we are Hey buddy hard eight we got him Alex you back you guys there can you hear me well yeah we're gonna have to move on that's right then arts Akan great scale this is game day ESPN radio ESPN app Sirius XM channel eighty when you look at the final stat lines to John Watson goes twenty to twenty five two hundred and forty seven yards about ten yards per attempt which is great number one touch down he was sacked seven times he led his team in rushing with fifty five yards on the ground conversely Josh Allen also led his team rushing dying carries ninety two yards but he was twenty four forty six for two hundred and sixty four yards only about just under six yards per attempt there he only got sacked three times for twenty seven yards but that to me is the big story of the game is the Josh yelled through the ball forty six yard field just as much production through the years the Sean Watson who throw for twenty five times so Houston the show what's a much more efficient in buffalo but ultimately bad like you talked about some of the backgrounds of these guys to show what's in the winter he won a national championship he was at Clemson Josh I was just going through the stage really for the first time in his career yeah and and deshaun Watson is going to rightfully so get a huge amount of credit for that one singular play but but the like I said earlier they they gave up seven sacks and you know I have to go back and re study the film to see how many of those should be credited to the office of line how many should be credited to Houston but but with the Sean Watson did early in that game when they weren't able to get the ball to the Andre Hopkins you don't see the Sean watts and force the ball you don't see him make errant throws or or make bad decisions you just continue to chop the wood and and the the bills are just gonna be kicking themselves because statistically they were in control of this game and it came down to something not being able to punch it in the red zone was really the difference certainly they've had issues there the entire season today they kicked four field goals for field goals they don't convert amid such downs obviously that's going to affect the game like a twenty two nineteen scorebig we could not have asked for a more exciting game to kick off the NFL playoff we gather what we just got as the Texans put away the bills twenty two to nineteen in overtime the ups and downs the drama some coaching call some officiating calls and I'm sure we'll discuss over the next couple of days coming up next we hear from the coaches of both teams in the second game is about to.

Every Team's Top Potential Free-Agent Targets After 2019 NBA Draft

"You about to be immersed in woke bombs, because it is that time of the year. Our NBA insider, everyone else joins us. Whoa. Just before we get into free agency, which is going to be interesting. We are now what twelve hours removed from the draft. Your initial takes who won who lost? Well, I thought the two teams who made the most significant trade last night. New Orleans, and Atlanta, both fared very well maximize the assets that they had Atlanta moving up into number four. To get. The hunter from Virginia. Maybe most versatile forward in this draft the best defensive player player doesn't need the ball in his hands. They've got a lot of scoring on Atlanta team. And then Cam, reddish, who is probably a top three or four talent taking a little bit of a flyer on him at ten and then New Orleans, you know, their ability to keep expanding this Anthony Davis trade. They got Jackson Hayes at center beyond Ziya Williamson David Griffin, thanks, that's going to give them in the long term. Maybe the most athletic front court in the league pick up another first round pick. And now also have nearly thirty million dollars in salary cap space to go out and free agency. And some veterans to this team that could make it conceivable that, that the pelicans could make the playoffs in their first year without Anthony Davis. And usually when you trade a player of that, caliber. From a small market, you're going into a full rebuild. But I think the winning the lottery being able to get Zion Williamson has a lot of David Griffin to go and just the opposite direction. And they're set up really well in New Orleans, talking about teams on the way up in there seems kind of scratching our heads about that would be the Celtics. What what's going on there? Well, listen, they're preparing to lose career being Al Horford in free agency. They've got in the neighborhood of twenty six twenty seven twenty eight million dollars in cap space, they could use that to go after Senator to replace Al Horford. Nicola Busa vich in Orlando's a free agent. The Lakers have interest there if they can get the cap space for him if they want to put all in one player, but which is at priority in Orlando. You know, there's I think there's motivation on both sides to get a deal done. But if they weren't able to, you know, Boston's and position to swoop in there and try to make a deal with vich Boston still has some really good young players. Now they go from team that thought they were ready to compete for championships to a team now built around Jason Tatum. Jalen Brown Gordon Hayward who still on the right side of thirty years old, and who probably will have a much better season this year than last. But they've got to address that point guard position in Boston. They obviously have taken a step back if both of those players are gone free agency and that's and that's how they feel. That's how it appears right now talking to Adrian ward NASCAR ESPN NBA insider on the show Pennzoil performance line. And something we had Brian win horse on earlier. We're talking a little bit about as teams you mentioned move things around or creating cap space right now. The idea that the seventy Sixers with some available cap space could potentially take shot or try and get a meeting with Kawhi Leonard coming up in free agency. Tell us what you think about the viability of that. Oh, I think they'll get a meeting. I mean listen getting a meeting and being a serious contender for free agent are two different things and very often the relationships in place that will allow a team to get a meeting I thought all along Philadelphia would probably get a meeting for Leonard. I think the Knicks will also get a meeting with Leonard, but the front runners are still Toronto and the clippers. But. Players and their representatives will meet often sometimes as a courtesy with other teams but their focus in Philadelphia is keeping their own. And that's Jimmy Butler Tobias Harris and JJ Rettig. He's an important part of that group too, and he's coming off an outstanding season. It's going to be expensive to keep that team together. They knew that when they made the trades for Harris and for Butler, but their priorities to keep them and also find a way to keep there. You know, I think they may get a meeting with Leonard, but I don't think they're going to be a physician to sign them or insider, eighty ask is with us right now. Whoa. What, what are we hearing? The latest on the, the possibility that there might be a sign and trade deal that keeps Kevin Durant in Golden State, while he's rehabbing. So he gets his money, and then they'll be able to get something for money moves on trade. I don't know anything about that. I think the focus and Golden State right now is to try to sign Kevin Durant to keep Kevin Durant in with the warriors. They're going to offer him a five-year max contract, just as they were before the Killys injury. You know all the options that were there for Kevin Durant before that injury are still there. All the teams that were recruiting him that we're willing to essentially offer them the full scholarship, nobody's pulling back on the book or the meal plan, he's getting full scholarship from everybody. Maximum. Allowable for years with another team five years with the warriors, and they're determined to try to keep him keep Klay Thompson. Great analogy, by the way. As far as actual galleys of free agent when you can actually talk and deal with players. Forgetting that how much of the race is going on right now in the timing issues of these teams talking back door to try and get these things done. Now I mean we live in the real world, Mike and free agency started weeks ago just did. And so it's ongoing. You cannot keep people from talking, there are different philosophies out there. There are different styles going at it. I'm not saying every team is out every free agent is out, literally to go shitting numbers. But are there, some yes there are, and that's always been the case? But I think because of how many teams have so much you have over ten I think ten eleven teams with over twenty million dollars in space and teams who could go get it with one trade. Or waving a player who's got a partial guarantee. So there's lots of moving parts in this free agency teams don't want to be left behind. but you could also you can talk to your own player all the way through boston was able to talk about extension with al horford and it didn't look like they were not close on the numbers and that's why horford is headed in the free agency he feels they have some confidence there's a much bigger offer or offers out there for

Looking Back: Toronto Raptors Win Game 6 in NBA Finals

"So now we're past the NBA finals. Congratulations. At around raptors there, the champions of the basketball world. Now, the real fun begins involving that team Golden State Indian BA. Let's bring on Howard Beck was a terrific, terrific senior NBA writer for Bleacher report. He said, thanks to shell Pennzoil performance line. I'm going to go back to the finals Toronto Winston six. What word or words would use to describe that series? And what we all experienced and what we also with all due respect to the raptors 'cause they don't want their championship. I don't use the tip of their, their championship because their championship deserves all the plot. It's all the praise that, that they've earned that you're asking me just to describe the series weird. I mean. You know, and that was from the beginning, by the way, we roll back to clock McAllister a couple of weeks here. I said, even we're going into the series that this was going to be possibly the strangest or these the most unique final. Dive of are covered up covered eighteen or nineteen of them now. And the reason is we've never had a final start where the superstar each team was both in both cases possibly leaving. Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant that was unprecedented tone that these guys were so much in play remain. So, but then bigger than that was just the, the fact that Kevin Durant was not starting the series but was not necessarily out either. He was this spectre looming over the whole thing. And so even as the raptors one game one even as the warriors sweet out game to the real question was not. Well, how's it going, how matchups going to go? What's the moves and counter moves? And who's the better team? It was no Wayne is Kevin Durant coming back. And if he does that change the entire complexion of the series, and that alone made this series this finals, absolutely unique, and then all the other layers on top of it, the intrigue over, what he comes back the frustrations that have been reported about the with the warriors team. It's about not knowing when he was gonna come back is coming back Klay. Thompson misses a game on looney misses the game. Dread does come back. And of course goes down with that terrible achilles. And they somehow manage to, to be a game in a game six where they could have extended this thing. And Klay Thompson goes down with the ACO. We've just never ever ever seen anything quite like this NBA finals. I'm always a big believer that even if it's something is not a positive even if it's a negative is going to help sell it's going to get a lot of attention. How much do you think with all that going on really not only help the NBA, but further the NBA going into the future going into the offseason with free agency from the NBA is not having any trouble getting attention? These days ratings are generally great, tennis, great their credibly popular period. I think the NBA is fine regardless what I do. Think is positive coming out of the series. I mean, let's, let's go just the fact that we've got free agency coming up first NBA free agency, NBA transactions have become like its own season in its own its own category of story. So there's the basketball in the NBA is very proud of the quality about four knows. I think they should be there's all the other stuff in the NBA is more than happy to have all the other stuff the transactions in the rumors. They're they're fine with all of that. It's, it's, you know, teams may not like speculation about their player and the player may not always like a is kind of sitting there going, you know, it's fine. You know, people are talking about a lot the tweeting about us, and they're speculating, and it's fine. But in terms of the finals, and how it impacts NBA popularity I think it can only be good for the league to have the raining. Super team. Not just lose as the warriors did. But all of a sudden very moral because Kevin Durant is probably not gonna play next season even if he stays. And I don't think he's staying Klay. Thompson may not play all next season if he stays, and I think he will stay, but the warriors won't be the warriors next season. So after all, these years of people saying it's a fatal complete the season is meaningless. We're just waiting for the warriors coronation. Well, that's not going to be the case anymore. There's no you know, we have warriors Cavs for four straight years. And then we had warriors Toronto next season next June. We're going to have a completely different finals, Leonard leaves, the raptors will have a different entrance from the east also. So if you if you're a fan of restoring some equilibrium, or not wanting a super team that just dominates too extreme measure than we're gonna good place where things stand right now because there's gonna be

"Shell Pennzoil performance line. The timing of this is the biggest thing, why let the man pick the coach draft the teams spend one hundred ninety million signing players, and then oust him. That's a great question, I- employees with you. I think if McCain were fired with Todd Bowles after the season. I think most people would have said, okay, you wanna start with a clean slate the bring a new general manager who hires his head coach? But the fact that you said he allowed mcalinden not only to participate in free agency and the draft. But remember, mcalinden was the one who hired Adam gays and to allow your general manager to do all of that. And then fire him after the draft just speaks to an inexperienced owner remember, this is a guy who is basically a placeholder for his brother Woody, who's the UK ambassador for the Trump administration, and it's a guy who hasn't navigated through the workings of leading a NFL franchise. So I think that it's party and experience. I think it's a really speaks to Christopher Johnson's in indecisiveness, and there might be some other elements that play too, because I was told in no uncertain terms over the last several weeks, that Christopher Johnson told people in the building privately that Mike mcalinden was safe, and he was not getting fired. So obviously he had. How about face he said in the past few days, but he's all in with Adam gates in we'll find out ultimately that was a smart decision or not. We're talking to many Schmidt, who covers the jets for the new York Daily News, Minnie's. How did Adam gay skit vis this much sort of power in this amount of time. I wish it had an answer for Jason. I don't quite understand it. He did have control the fifty three man roster when he was head coach in Miami. He had a losing record in Miami. Took into the playoffs and had some conflict with people in the building now. Well, say about Adam gazes that he's for the most part. I know there's some players who have come out against the, you know, his methods but for the most part, Adam gay strength, dealing with players on a one on one basis that being said he wants to have control. He wants to have the, the autonomy to pick his players have control the ninety man roster in the off season. The fifty three man roster in season. He did not have that. I just think it's a for lack of a better word of the thing for a. Guy to really. You know, for lack of a better word again backstabbed, the guy who hired you four months into, you know, your relationship, they have not even had a full practice yet let alone played in in a game. So we're talking about the middle of may. He was hired in the middle of January and he obviously got in the era of the owner. The owner today said this wasn't about Adam gates and I think you're incredibly naive. If you actually believe that this was absolutely about Adam gates. He he in effect backstabbed just general manager Minnie's. It's basically like he said, you have a terrible character. Thanks for hiring me now. Get out of here, which makes no sense whatsoever. Spin and fits talking to Mitch Schmidt covers the jets for new York Daily News. So we've already heard that. There's a favourite to land the job in eagles vice president player personnel. Joe Douglas, why would someone take on a job for which there is very little to be? Done and lots of blame to be laid it is interesting because there's so many different elements to this. If you're thinking about who would take this job because, again, the players that were brought in free agency and the draft from the previous regime. So you may have a different outlook. Let's say for argument's sake Joe Douglas is going to be the next general manager. And I will say this Joe Douglas has a pristine, reputation around the league for being an excellent town..

"Phone guests on the shell Pennzoil performance line junior. You've given me a bum rap here because let's be honest you, and I are going to become mortal enemies soon to the playoffs play out over the course of the year. I've been big on the bucks. Although yes, I've been so big on the bucks. Eventually, they did send me a little boxes which very appreciated. That's. Nothing. I did not make up praised the bucks you've been praising the raptors all year. So, you know, we're no different in that. It's just the buck sent me for some stuff. The raptors haven't sent anything don't try and make me like you think I'm going to beg anybody for anything. All right and don't try and kiss up just because Nick nurses, waiting to join us soon enough on the shell Pennzoil performance on here. The head coach of the Toronto kissing up giving you an opportunity to get all the praise for being a head of the kerm on. Hey, the raptors are gonna take step forward. That's all. I'm just asking you to give me the same respect about the bucks. I give you about the risk for clo- did not show for close openly praised the bucks to the point that they've then decided to send me. The wrong dog in this fight the raptors way better color scheme. Oh ski man you could have gotten some really great. We we've north to. It's all all the north to now here here the deer. So you're going to go up against the team, whose mascot is an actual dinosaur with your dear all day long. I understand raptors have taken a big hit in the public sphere to that. They're essentially painted his glorified chickens now and being extinct. There stink and be in modern interational raptors one of those inflatable costumes that you wrote around campus looking like an idiot in versus dear was go into anything. Take one of my God, that's ESPN. I was trying to give you all the crate called vamping. Give them a little bit of. Let's go to the show Pennzoil performance line now where raptors coach Nick nurse joins us coach. Thanks so much for some time and congratulations on the series win. This point once the biggest difference between this raptors team today versus the Rafter seems we've seen in the playoffs in the past. Teams in probably one of the you was we got got our focus mindset effort squared away and started playing some really solid defense. And. You know, it was it was good for four games. So that's that's biggest difference with this team. Now big win again for you guys over Orlando last night, and the the seventy Sixers they take care of business against Brooklyn. Luckily, I appreciate what you guys did end the seventy Sixers I didn't have to use that last part mill awful lot. Another shows. I wanted to watch because man you guys both took care of business. So in the regular season when you play them does that matter at all can you go back to anything in the regular season that gives you any kind of indication of what can go on in the postseason. I don't think there's that much. There's some things Mike. But I think you know, the teams are really different. I don't think we played once with Butler number with Harris. You know, we have to all now. And and so two different teams things we can look at you know, but I think it's played basketball different animal. Anyway, we're going to see the ball goes up. And then you know, it turns into a chest patch little series of making adjustments and changing Magics and changing coverages, and they haven't seen and all that kind of stuff which makes it which makes everybody talking Toronto Raptors head coach Nick nurse on the shell Pennzoil performance. I coach I know and his presence on this team has been such a big difference year to year but for this series. I look at Kyle Lowry a guy who's been there in a guy that you know, well who between game, sir. Certainly had some variants in his performance offensively especially game one to game to what your conversation like within going through this as a guy who's been around for some of the postseason struggles in the past few years. The biggest difference for Kyle is. I mean, his natural instincts are to lead the team, and and just be tough out there. Right. He took nude played art, and and he's really smart and our team leader. And I think you know, any makes three every now and then or scores fifteen eighteen points energies icing on the cake doesn't really have to do that. With this team. I think the burden of having to get us twenty or twenty five past you know, it's tough in the playoffs to score twenty or twenty five or anybody. So I think we got him back to more of a playmaking leadership role with this team. And and you can do that tonight out for sure we're talking to raptors head coach Nick nurse on the shell Pennzoil performance line, golden window coach earlier, you mentioned mentioned the chess match of playing a series when you're talking about a best of seven series with Philly. What's the most difficult adjustment? You'll have to make after familiarity comes into play. Well, you know, I guess you don't know. I mean, you don't know what the adjustments will be even even after you play a game or two. You're you're speculating, right? You know, you think they might be this or or you might change this, and they might react this way. And you just kinda throw out a whole bunch of different scenarios prior to the game and see which one of them hitting which one of them don't. But you know, they're going to be a hand full, man. That's a that's a big big bodies out there starting with the, you know, the the biggest center in the league and the biggest point guard at the one in the five so gonna be handful to to really good teams should be a heck of a series talking to Nick nurse, head coach of the raptors who was assistant there since two thousand thirteen so in general picture of this one of the constant certainly when you've been since Yuban with the raptors and even before that was in the east whatever team LeBron is on ended up going to the finals. Now he's out in east now. So has there been? A different mindset or a thought process since he has not been in the eastern just how competitive is east has been. Sure seems to be. I mean, I think everybody loaded up pretty good, you know, off season. Even at the trade deadline is kind of seemed like a almost an arms race. You know, everybody just got adding players and four teams that I think I think almost in the past everybody was like, we'll just nobody's gonna be Cleveland. Just nobody looked like they were gonna threaten them. Even though they got a little bit last year. Nobody could still pull it off. So I think it's great. I think therefore really great teams here, and even even more than that as depth in the east continues to grow from confide, the ten even eleven and twelve I think it's exciting that was four really good TV bottle here. We're talking to raptors head coach, Nick nurse. Golic and wingo. Coach, obviously, you're you're in the moment right now it's impossible with what we do. And even for fans, not to think about the future at the same time, particularly with coli, given the situation that you. You have there. How do you balance sort of the right now with Kawhi? But also what whatever his leanings gonna be this summer. I don't think about too much only because he's handling it. So well too. I mean the way he's playing right now, and and kinda in this playoff mode, and and you know, you guys appro and cares about winning every conversation. I ever would have about anything always comes back just wanna wear, you know. So I just focus on that. And I think we can do that and win and you got a lot of good things to offer. Here. We know that a winning team on top of that was attractive anybody. I think coach speaking of winning. I we know you kinda on the internet the other night at home, the terms of what trending is at this point in are you, okay? With the way that you became a viral sensation. I'm not sure what like is there a number. You gotta get to the to your fishery. I don't. I don't really know that or or what that is. But a lot of talk about it. And I don't know, man. I don't ever look back and say what they what the hell were you thinking? On your back. Hey when it says United States trends, and you're one of the top ones. It doesn't matter. How many need just you go there somehow, someway, exactly for good reason good reopen? So always take that one. Did you catch any flack in the locker room from that the vet make its way to the guys in the game players said too much to me about it? But you know, I just like, you know, but he made in the way and second speeding, man. They anytime check it even though, you know, your whole life your shock. He goes in there and ribbon around, and I just thought it was quick deprived. Grant, outta me. Quick thirty seconds. And the players haven't said too much. That way we can get onto the next playing. I'm just saying coach on behalf of every man and personal relationship ever. Thank you. Because now that is you can send that every time you want to to your significant other. It's perfect take you so much for your time. Congratulations on the win. Best of luck in the next round. Thanks coach. Talking to you. Thank you again. If you didn't see that he got called for a three second violation, which you just heard him say that such a rarity, and he just stood there with his delight jaw dropped for a long period of time. And it ended up trending with that had no idea after what he's talking about. You know is this good. The parlance of our time, he became a caption this moment and the responses were very creative. Torture report shows progress in Afghanistan, but much more needed

"We'll have to be some measures taken by the government to address torture. We are seeing some Pennzoil impacts of the steps taken by the government over the last two years. But while it's good to see that. There's some progress the oval big as will torture and treatment of conflict related detainees. Still disturbingly high in the sense that one insert sorry to interrupt. But in the sense that one in three detainees six hundred plus detainees who you? Nominate contacted the UN mission in Afghanistan. One in three say, they tortured in what way would they tortured, please they were tortured principally by beachings mainly by eating with hikes in payables, including on the feet, which is very painful, but doesn't leave any mocks now in some pick your location, they were all other forms of kickback even more serious including with. Electric shocks is expensive from ceilings very hot to stress positions for extended. Periods of time. Pulling genitals reported threats of death and other forms of sexual violence. And also, a very common form in particular. Locations in panda included being suffocated, eighty the tactic digested ahead or your Walser for throats, and one common form was be covered by a blanket people sitting on Thursday and back and being also maintains except potatoes, especially the okay, so that sounds absolutely horrific. And yet, you NAMA is saying along with the office of the high commission of human rights that this is an improvement since the last report, which I think was in two thousand sixteen and do you? I started reporting on this in two thousand ten in the previous record. And if report it quite right thing debut stock and plenty time. Time is actually being some improvement in that it's disturbing wanting three and keep the down. However from thirty nine percent four out of ten in the previous two years ago. And the that in in twenty eighty there was some progress in the among those into twenty eighteen twenty seven to say because the real treatment. So yeah, I think how headline is that some progress is very long way to go. There was also at the normative and the negatives. If no in that in twenty eighteen Afghanistan exceeded the optional protocol eventually they'd still and that these why because today seventeenth today because one year since the optional protocol was exceeded to near encouraging Afghanistan too. Establish a national preventive mechanism as they're required to do. So can I just jump in Richard just to us? What is the state's ability and capacity to actually help improve this, obviously, there's a willingness to do. So, but how capable is it of actually achieving what it needs to? Yeah. All post anti-drug commissioned nationally ups yet eight legislative began store Jerry metro check, nor so they became being Orage taking some sticks at a high level it needs to do more. And they have been training have been establishment of mechanisms you've been the key agencies responsible for torture, including bagels and ESPN. She's been candidates agency, the police and the military, so they're awesome steps in the right direction to develop capacity, we have found however that what we call key procedural and other legal safeguards that'd be Parke's often failing to uphold them lose, for example, access to lawyers. I contacted the family medical screen and information of rights for detainees as well. Proper investigations to follow up when are complaints. Go turn treatment buying the perpetrators held to account or if they are the measures. They can be such serious such an serious crime, very light. And that victims are really told about progress or up of cases, which remain mainly opaque. Can I also just ask and sorta to interrupt about accountability? Because it doesn't sound like what it was certainly one of the features of the report and High Commissioner of human rights. Michelle Bachelet said there must be accountability. Otherwise, this kind of thing will never stop. But that's not particularly new messages it. So what are your main hopes having released this fifth report? A main hopes that the commitments made the normal given negative level internationally domestically actually in. Lamented in practice 'cause you're not seen enough of that yet. We we have seen some signs of accountability. Would apparently Trump people removed from positions, according to the government response to the report, but be seeing very little if any serious investigations or prosecutions still carry now a crime in this country, but many fits me to take him on accountability. At the criminal Justice never would also found that nearly all of the Chinese the report for chapter saying that the total ill-treatment stops. Once they confessed. And this kind of culture is very concerning. Confessions obtained done before share essentially worthless. And they are illegally excluded as evidence in court. And so that is another thing. Yeah. Much change needs to take place needed to use torture to obtain a confession do. Those who are perpetrating these abuses actually realized that is it a case of educating everyone in detention centers that it just went hold water in a court of law. It connected, and I think you're right -education training are absolutely necessary. That has been among standing practice of using torture to the pain confessions, and I think that making that issues unacceptable amigo country to the penal code. They have better results. I think we are starting to see better results in twenty eighteen particularly with the intelligence of the NBS and note that they have new UCF introduced better training and policies on torture. Yeah.

"shell pennzoil" Discussed on ESPN Chicago 1000 - WMVP

"R, and we'll go from the college game to the NBA. We'll go out to that. Shell Pennzoil performance line, and our friend all young Masuku who is in LA, and he covers the NBA Lakers clippers he's at the clippers game right now. They're of sixty eight forty six in the third quarter on Memphis and before we get to the NBA game. I was looking at your Twitter feed, which is a tremendous a handle at notorious OH AM, and you're a Michigan state Spartans. So I will allow you sixty seconds. No more to gloat about his own in the final four. There will be no gloating. These guys, I'm always superstitious. So it's kinda what I haven't said much the entire. Tournament. So I just wanna let it be and Oatley, you know, they take care of business in the final four last night. They went to the final four probably is a favorite. I think was against Butler and Gordon Hayward they lost that game. But three Mon green, though, I am definitely wary affects the second of trying to enjoy what happened today still in a state of shock. Tell us the story in L A as it. Lebron told Luke Walton in the Lakers that he's shutting it down or was Luke in the Lakers, the ones telling LeBron LeBron you're shutting it down. You know that last game. Lebron played a he had a dunk where he got up. I mean the ball was well above the rim. And I remember thinking to myself man, that's probably the highest I've seen LeBron jump this season after that it growing injury. So I was like, wow, he was playing pretty free and loose. And I remember kind of thinking that. And then the next day. I think he was he was shut down. My, you know, I I'm thinking the Lakers are probably the ones that want to seven down and really not take any chances with them. And to me, it's probably the smart move. Lebron has been very cognizant of knowing that, you know, there's a lot of people that pay money to see him. And he is four you never know what kid is going to come to the arena to watch him play. And that he's somebody else hero. So LeBron to me properly would want to play and finish out the season. I think the Lakers are trying to be cautious as possible and make sure that he's going to be one hundred percent healthy going into next season. On youngest who've joined us from L as the clippers game. But he covers the Lakers as well for ESPN into the night with John London. Larry Krueger on ESPN radio. And it's it's interesting. You say that because my initial thought was will Jordan never would have done this in Jordan said something similar during his career. Steve Kerr's told us before that the Jordan said while there might be somebody who hasn't seen me play. And I know that LeBron takes his place in the NBA very seriously. But I agree with the Lakers on this one. There's no reason. And if you blows a knee or something happens or killer, whatever it is that he does then they're going to get criticized for this or criticize for that. So there's no it's a no win situation. So I'm on the like, I'm with the Lakers on this one. I mean, look the way the Lakers season is gone this year. And then it's been an absolute catastrophic disaster. It's probably really in their best interest to keep LeBron out because it really don't want to risk any type of injury with him at his age. And that was one thing going in when they signed with Ron they were cognizant of trying to keep him healthy, not just participation, but really the whole long-term at this contract is four year deal he signed, and that was one of the thinking behind the reason why they went after guys like land Stevenson Rajon, Rondo, Michael Beasley, they were basically trying to say we want multiple ball handlers around him that can handle the ball and take the load off because they felt like they really did not want to add more mileage too. And so at this point now, there's no reason to play LeBron James, I know he wanted to keep playing, but really think the Lakers are doing the right thing, and he is going to travel with them through the rest of the regular season. You know, it is interesting. The Lakers missed the playoffs in the first sixty five years as an organization they missed the playoffs. Five times. They've now missed the playoffs in six straight postseasons and LeBron is not used to this. Last time. He missed the playoffs was oh five just to put that in perspective. Apple didn't have an iphone use YouTube was founded and Netflix was delivering DVD's back there. They were roughly five hundred this year with the Brian. What is the what are the Lakers going to do? What's what's if you had to gamble and say, okay, they're going to land this player and that player in in the summer. What's the best hope of of superstar players that they hope to land? Oh, I think you know, the hope would be to get somebody like Klay Thompson. Because that would mean, you're kind of hurting the warriors by not letting the warriors get Thompson back, and you're getting a guy who would really fit in well with LeBron you know, what do read guy that can defend. He can also hit the three. He's a great shooter. He would just fit in seamlessly. And then you probably want to be able to get another guy. He's a an offense guy who can really really five well with LeBron maybe off, and maybe a scoring type point guard who's always kind of been a formula success for LeBron. So perhaps that you know, a career reading or Kemba Walker or, you know, something like that. But what you don't want to do if you're the Lakers and Magic Johnson. I in my opinion, is that you don't want to get impatient. If you strike out with the big guys, you don't wanna be like I have to get somebody because we don't want to waste another year. Lebron James, totally understandable. But then. Invest a ton of money and a big contract guys that you might end up overpaying, and those contracts might end up hurting you in the long run. So I don't know you wanna go and say get like Jimmy Butler, and then overpay for somebody else. Like, maybe if you pay a ton of money and DeMarcus cousins with been great and come back, and he's doing very well for Golden State, but your investing a lot of money and a guy who is trying to make his way back from the injury. And if you go with those two guys, it doesn't really say similarly guarantee, you the Lakers are gonna win championship with LeBron James and those two guys. So I think you know, you kinda gotta be careful because there's a lot of pressure. Magic Johnson linka to strike it big again this summer, but you also gotta be careful with who you invest your money and long term on young Masukus joined us from LA covers the Lakers for ESPN into the night. John london. Larry Krueger on ESPN radio. We're gonna talk about this next. I want to get your professional answer on this thing. You talked about pressure on Magic Johnson. Who's who's got more pressure on them? In this off season. Magic Johnson to get something done or LeBron James because time is running out if he doesn't get a sidekick or to magic. I mean, listen LeBron does need to help recruit recruiting wise, but it's kinda really on magic. Because magic is the guy that kind of put this roster together this season, and it didn't work. And I I understand they're thinking, you know, it's kind of like a football team that you know, you had a coach that was defensive minded and maybe kinda hard on the players. And then you fire that guy, and you go in the opposite direction and get an offensive minded coach. He's like a players coach the Lakers kind of looked at the Cleveland Cavaliers last year and thought they were too many one dimensional guys too many shooters that could really help LeBron even though they made it to the final. So they went and tried to get all these like multidimensional ball handlers who could basically try to take some of that load off LeBron James, but they couldn't shoot and that didn't work. Well, and yes, there were a lot of injuries. And there were suspensions and drama and things of that nature. But it. You know, if they would all stayed healthy weren't quite surf. It was really gonna work because it did show over time the Lakers needed shooting. So now imagine comes into this summer, and he's going to have to revamp this roster because it didn't work and to see what he can do and try to get another star. And listen to match is one of these facet. You get him in a room with anybody. He is probably the most magnetic personality and all the sport. But it's gonna be it's gonna remain to be seen. If he can give another star. Because there's certainly as this narrative out there that guys don't necessarily need to come to the Lakers, and they don't need the relief with LeBron James to win the championship. Magic is going to have to prove people wrong and proof that narrative. Oh, great stuff. Thanks for the insight and again way to be humble about Michigan state. I I didn't think we'd see that. But that's a that's a smart way to go. I don't want to jinx the Spartans though. I I you know, I thought the Jaren Jackson junior actually before the game about this. And he basically was like, yeah, we surprised the world. We're not done yet. We're not done yet. I just you know, I'm trying to be held on unlike my my good friend, and and Michigan state to Mel hill who will talk a bunch of trash. I just stay quiet and make sure that they do. Well, 'cause I don't want to go out there and see them lose. I wouldn't gloat either Texas town on Saturday. Maybe maybe too much. We'll see great defensive teams. So, but you know, is oh this might be is those finest job. Yes. No doubt about it owned. Great insight. We really appreciate it. We'll talk to you again soon. Thanks so much. Thanks, guys. Got a young is joining us and again ESPN good insight into the Lakers, which leads us perfectly into what we're gonna talk about coming up next. We just talked about a certain free few free agents. He actually talked about it, and who is under more pressure LeBron or magic and one thing he talked about there as well. Which is the Lakers still have it. We'll get into it next into the night. Knicks Snap 18-Game Home Losing Streak with Win over Spurs to Avoid NBA History

"Guys. We have a guest here obviously on the shell Pennzoil performance line. And it is oh guy. Our guy Bagley get your bag. Ian, how're you doing? In. My three favorites out there tonight. I'm very excited. Yes. ESPN New York. Knicks reporter also does the nets and basically holds the upper east coast down in did you know that the Knicks made the Oscars they pretty much won an Oscar did you notice this? Yeah. We got wind of it on social media after the game. And we asked a couple of players about if they hadn't seen a year for too excited to just see the clip Samuel Jackson, and Spike Lee. Not every not every year that the Knicks could have mentioned on the Oscars deserves rightfully so. Because the Knicks would at home first time that happened since December one twenty eight and I'm talking about last year folks, twenty we're everywhere. Number one two thousand eighteen they won. They beat the Spurs one thirty one eighteen and I even saw the icing on the cake who threw off the backboard pass for the dunk like it was just wild. How important Dennis Smith? Well, of course, it makes sense. Usually he's on the other end of the dunk rape. How does this when in Madison Square Garden me? What was the field? Was it like a sign of relief for coach physio it felt like a weight off everybody's shoulders, you know, coach FitzGerald would tell us that they don't think about it. They don't talk about it. But then the players afterward joking around the locker room, it just felt like a much later lock home. Now, they knew about they were one loss away from Batasuna longest losing streak ninety history set in ninety three ninety four by the Dallas Mavericks. They know that they have the longest losing streak in franchise history. This so they're aware of those numbers. They don't want to be a part of that history. Tonight, especially the team like the city until you're Spurs. It's not easy, especially for this. And we've got a twenty two games left would throw out the record. We know where we know where we are twelve hundred forty eight what should be the goals over the next six weeks here with this team wanna see consistency. I think so Kevin Knox. You'd wanna see what Frank ntilikina as you're still trying to answer that question. You know, one one and a half almost two seasons. Enter France career, he should get healthy at some points to from this point. I think it was the next to kiss him significant minutes trying to answer that question to try to see if he can be elite guard. What did he do off the ball and where he used offensively so between seven and Saint not some consistency. From those guys. I think the next like what they've seen recently from young player in literal Robinson who who's really played well, especially since the Andre Jordan has come over from Dallas Jordan has done a good job mentoring. Mitch robinson. So I think it's it's the young players on your team and being able to project them forward who is a keeper who can you pencil in for next year? And who do you think won't be around piggybacking off your point there? What's the the Knicks recruiting pitch this summer? You know, who they Bill that around is it around, you know, playing with somebody like Dennis Smith. Knox. Or like what how does that play out? Jordan because you have the two max slots. Pitches almost hey, come come here and tell us who you wanna play with right twenty nine hundred she class, we get that you wanna play with and Kevin Durant. Also simple. You want to change the narrative around. Golden State to win those titles. You come here. And you have success in New York you wanna title in New York. I mean, that's a forever thing doesn't staffers outside of Madison Square Garden and no one. We'll talk about how joined that Golden State to win your earlier title simple message. Anybody else? It's tell us who you wanna play with. We'll try to bring that guy in. That's the voice of in Begley are ESPN next report. And that's reporter upper east coast. Reporter you're listening to insiders. I'm Bobby marks Jordan Schultz ESPN radio ESPN app and Sirius XM channel eighty now. Talking about obviously, the potential free agency this summer. Those are all big question marks largely because of the trade deadline, sending Kristaps Porzingis opening up two slots, but tell me how worried were Knicks fans watching Duke UNC this past week in. Knick fans are still watching the Knicks games. I give them a lot of credit assume most expensive watching every night. So. A big sigh of relief. I think I'm this fanbase when you found out that that sign injury wasn't that serious that he's going to be okay. Because this record twelve weeks at this point. And they're just looking ahead towards the trash and like every other bottom. Feeding MBA franchise. They're looking at nine what you've seen how he can impact their roster. How much he can change the fourteen organization. So, you know, certainly everybody around here was relieved when they found that he was okay. The interesting thing so Zion and wherever the Knicks end up in the draft in the top three. They hope is could that pick then help them creed. With the woman's Francis us, I think that's something. That's that's certainly on the fan bases minded. I'm sure the front office is thinking about different permutations packages. They could put together including that twenty nine team first round pick to try to entice New Orleans Detroit. And before we let you go. What do you think Zion playing in Madison Square Garden would look like do you think it would be just the new coming up LeBron or even even bigger based on his highlights in his dunking ability. I remember the Jeremy Lin Ron and how much energy was in the building night in and night out. How much of the event every home game was your masters. I think it would be just like that. But even more so sign Williamson was here. Because you know, he getting the franchise all three player people talk about him as a prospect the same way, they talks about Davis to bring that kind of talent into this building would give this reasons for optimism something they haven't had in a long time around here in. I look forward to our shared slice of pizza. I know we've been pushing off that day for a long time. He's been the best pizza apparently in New York. But before we let you go last, but not least we have awards given out for the MBA insiders and honors of aren't Oscars. Have you been watching the Oscars tonight? Because I've been at the. Is your feed though, you saw here. A little bit here and there, okay? This has been a Mahershala Ali love fest on the show, but we actually have awards given out today on MBA insiders throughout the course of the night. I want to get your vote for the last category that we're trying to push best leading man. Are you ready for this vote pleased? The nominees are Janta Takubo of the box. PG thirteen Paul George of the thunder James harden of the rockets and Kawhi Leonard of the raptors who is your best leading man right now. I would go right now with John giving Milwaukee's records they're standing in the conference in the role that he plays on that team. I think he's most deserving of that honor at the moment all of Georgia's a close second. Given what he's done for the thunder

"Joins us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Well, you know, you build things up, and you hope they lived expectations. Sometimes they do sometimes they don't and sometimes they don't for the wildest of reasons. Mike to use the old thirty for thirty one. What if I told you oh man that the reason that the Duke North Carolina game would fizzle was because of a faulty sneaker? You would have said get outta absolutely amazing. Thirty seconds thirty six seconds, anxiety has a ball back to the basket right around the free throw line, and he's planting with his left foot, and basically the side of the shoe just from the same on the side, right by the soul in the bottom of the shoe just destroy disintegrates in his foot comes right out of the shoe, his right, leg, buckles and kind of bands. And that was the actually sprained slipped with his left foot. Sprained his right knee got up under his own power limped off. Off the court then limped into the locker room. It's been called a mild spraying, they'll do an MRI and see where it goes from here. But thirty six seconds in this. Great anticipation, and let's be honest. Listen do Carolina speaks for itself without as far as rivalries, I concern. But when you add the show that Duke has been and his been the show because of mainly Zion. Williamson that's what everybody was there to see. That's why I take it was gone for ten thousand dollars. That's why people were packed in that place paying so much money. Do it and thirty seconds thirty six seconds at a blown out sneaker cost you watching Zion for an entire game, Duke, North Carolina will always be a must watch event it will. But what made it via vent was I on here and to see that go away. And let's be clear even ROY Williams in victory knew that this one comes with a little bit of an asterisk beyond everybody beyond. When the big fella goes out of the game. It changes a lot of stuff for them. Zion. Williamson I've never seen anything like him. And that was a huge blow for them. And having that happened during the course of the game. You don't have time to prepare for it. So hated that part of it because I think he's such a wonderful kid. But that was a huge blow for them at that time. There's no question. So for all those saying, well, it's completely unfair that there should be an asterisk or something against what North Carolina did ROY Williams is saying, no, no no understand it changed the game completely. Yeah. But I'm not putting an Astra Sarah player standpoint. They don't care, you know, who is out there won't care down the road who is out there or not. And by the way, did we mention North Carolina light start to finish. Correct. In this game end up winning by sixteen points. Luke maye who is a senior now. But seems like he's been there for so long scores. Thirty Cam Johnson scores what twenty six in this one? They absolutely dominated Duke, especially in the paint with outscored of sixty two to twenty eight sixty two points in the paint. But there's a reason because Zion was there so understand that as we go down to Raleigh for our guys that were there at the game Jason Fitz and my goal of Junior Seau Fizi. I know you think it's. Unfair to North Carolina to say this qualifier. Roy Williams says I get the fact that there should be a qualifier. Well, I mean, what else is he going to say all honest, but I'm still gonna go back to as much as we talk about what happened for Duke. Let's also acknowledged that as shell shocked is the arena was his shell-shocked as the fans were let's at least keep in mind that part of this is Luke maye ability as a senior that seems so much basketball to come in. And really be a calming presence at a calming force. I I'm giving Carolina credit trae ROY Williams is being honest. The same way cliff Kingsbury was being honest when he said he'd take Cuyler Murray number one overall before they went against Oklahoma. You go out there. You be deferential the other team in there other coach he's celebrating that wind. Just of course, he is. But I'm glad you brought a comparison because as we get closer and closer to the draft young, man. Don't be surprised if that happens. I'm just telling you that. Right. Oh. Let me ask you guys. Oh, because that's why you were there for we wanted you there for the atmosphere of it. So take us inside that that arena when that happened. Just just how quiet it wasn't just what was going on. You know, it was so loud and so- raucous leading up to it. I don't know that I've ever really experienced what that atmosphere was leading up to the moment and the Cameron crazies where everything that there's ever been promised times a thousand. I mean, just standing in it and seeing it it was like a wave of emotion coming into the game. And then you have this moment. And no exaggeration. There was a lady behind us. Did just kept saying oh my God. Oh, dear God. Oh, dear God over and over again. And it started it really loud. And then it got to quite like a whisper. It was like she'd seen a family member go down. And that's what it felt like silence in the Zayed's in the room was palpable. Like the room just felt gross in that moment because everybody was. Both sides of the gentleman that was sitting right? Was a Carolina fan. And he even said at the end, he said, this isn't how I wanted to win. I wanted to beat Zion. I think there was a moment for everybody where you're looking at it saying, oh my God. What just happened? And what does it mean? It was hard to just let that be the moment without thinking about what it means moving forward. Yeah. I thought it was interesting. I I was fortunate enough to be at the Alabama LSU game for football this year. And it was a one three match both still in the national. No, humble, humble brag. I've had a good year. But. In that game. At least at the beginning the same environment. I mean LSU death valley it's so famous and the first couple of third downs. When Alabama was out there. They struggled a little bit crowd was able to influence the game. And the team was still competitive at that point before the tide. Turn this one got robbed of even that initial wave of energy just because this happened so quickly and all of a sudden, I know Sean farm was talking about everyone's scrambling from the players to the coaches, but the crowd was scrambling to and try as they might to will themselves back in with a couple of plays stretch. Duke was never able to string together enough plays to make that at all viable. So it was really weird. It was almost kind of a spooky atmosphere because you weren't sure. How to feel you were worried about Zion? You wanted to see the game start to come back. Then you got the news seeing the news of Zion being out for the rest of the game trickle into everyone's phones around the arena was also interesting too. Because that was I think the second deflation point of the night again. The boys are in Raleigh. My son Michael junior Jason Fitz. They were at. The game Duke, North Carolina. So the question now coming out there's five regular season games left in the ACC tournament the NCAA AA tournament as well. So Mike I'll start with you Zion. Williamson should he play anymore. Will he play anymore? I don't think you will play anymore. I mean, you don't. I guess it would depend on the severity of the injury. But for him to go out last night. There's enough of a concern where you wouldn't put him back on the court in a rivalry game. That matters a ton for you and ACC play. It all these things I think being overly cautious. You certainly wouldn't see him for the rest of the regular season. And then you that decisions his to make and I get it. I heard boozer on before saying the Diane's going to be the number one pick no matter what. Well, you're not the number one pick more than likely if you blow out an ACL and are going to be ready to go in for weeks for the first year of your MBA career. I have to imagine that might change some things and with this injury already on his body right now with that as a part of his background. You're at more risk for injury going forward. If you were to step back on the court. So I think that would be the advice. I would give him what he does with his obviously his decision. Yeah. Go ahead Jason. And the other part of it is I'm not willing to say, even if he doesn't play another second of basketball do can't still win a national championship. So I I don't think as much as we want to look at it and say what's ion gonna do? And what's it mean for his teammates? This is still RJ Barrett. I continue to remind everybody RJ bear was the number one prospect in the country coming into this year, not Zion and RJ Barrett. While he didn't have a great night of the defensive end of the floor when they get the adjustments made that they need to make this is not there's no clear cut number one in my mind in college basketball. It's going to be clearly better than Duke even without Zion going into it. So I still think they could win without him. It's a win win for everybody for him to get healthy. Well, listen, they certainly didn't look like they could win without him last night. Obviously, they'll get more adjustments. But I was shocked how they found. No way to do anything without him out there considering as you said, they have all these prospects. And they do have the winningest coach in the history. College basketball. Yeah. Listen, that's certainly a part of it. But I would like it into this. I played an offensive line was Martin and Zack Martin went down in a game protection changes for you. Like, you have this luxury of knowing. All right. We put one guy over there. And he's going to lock down that side of the line. If we have Zion and the pain he's going to lock down a certain area, and we can count on him for x y and z all of a sudden when you've got to adjust to that on the fly, even if you've got other talented first round picks lottery picks on their your role is changed the roles of the guys coming in that don't have as much expected of them, especially on a cheap. Not extraordinarily deep coming off the bench, and they don't have to be with these guys this talented. But when the roles all the sudden change that drastically with a guy off the court in a way that you're not prepared for in that moment, I can understand there being a little bit of a correction period. I mean, I hear you. But Mike, I think it's a it's a little different. I don't think it's apples to apples because an offensive line is so tied together. I mean, that's the most tied together unit on a football team. I don't think it's the same as losing. One of the starting five on a basketball swat. Well, I think it is when it comes to defense trae. I mean everyone's tied together. You saw the amount of guys wide open in the middle of the court for North Carolina on the offensive end in the half court sets like to me that's reliability that's dependability in that spot from a guy who not only, you know, you communicate with you can talk about all that stuff, but you can count on to check people you can count on as a guy..

"Guests on the shell Pennzoil performance line. I agree with that. Like, I hate that. This thing is going to just kind of fade away with no details. You know? Why? Why what do you think your what do you think? Anything's. I've talked to him. I think you're going to get out of this. I want to know what the NFL admitted I want to know if the NFL came and said, you know, what? Yeah. I mean, there was some of this. And you know, look, we don't want to admit it. And here's what we're going to offer you so that we don't have to admit it because it's a really bad look for us. It's a black eye on the league. You know, we just don't know or or did somehow some way the capper Nic read side become convinced that this isn't the reason they were not playing for so long and in caps case still not playing if there was collusion if the NFL admits any guilt in this. It's it would be wrongdoing collusion is absolute wrongdoing. If there is collusion, I think we all everybody that watches the NFL should know. And frankly, those who don't should know if that was happening, and we will never know what the NFL actually admits to or on the other side if cap and read said, you know, what we really thought this was happening for a long time. Let's just get our names out of this thing in it, which I doubt that. But let's I just feel like we should know more. That's all they agree to a deal that they felt happy with and comfortable with and it was a business decision. As far as I'm concerned as far as individual team has to make a business decision. Whether we bring in a player or we don't and there's thirty two teams they can all operate independently on that, I don't have any collusion and the ravens at one point. It was reported. They had an interest in capper, Nick, some things happened that prevent it.

"Shell Pennzoil performance line. We are watching the Chicago Bears and a big penalty. Here is giving the Philadelphia Eagles. Pretty good field position, ammos, let up Zakar it's on the sideline, but they're calling it a personal foul. So we'll see if the eagles can convert here. Six to three the Chicago Bears lead the Philadelphia Eagles eight fourteen to go in the third quarter here. This has been a great defensive game. Bobby carpenter, obviously, everybody knows you've played it Ohio State yet along hopefully lucrative for you NFL career as a linebacker. When you watch this. Could've been better. What do you mean radio pays really? Well, no, I kid, but you played in this league along time as a defensive player in playoff situations. Like this. Why are you nervous? Are you anticipating like what do you feel like an games like this? Well, when you're seeing flags come in like that on Ron Smith right there. And it's it's so hard right now to play defense in the NFL. And it's some that Ryan Clark. We're talking about in the war room your earlier today. Just how do you try to tackle receivers anymore coming across the middle? And these guys, you know, they get up and they dance because no one ever gets hit anymore. There's no freer of anything happening. It's difficult in a game. Like this. These are the games that you love to be a part of is a defensive player because your your your office might not be scoring a lot, but they're not scoring lots. So the onus is all on you. You know, you have a great ability to impact this game and affected in a meaningful way. These teams have great defensive lines there secondaries are playing. Well, the linebackers are flying around and it's been very very enjoyable for me. To watch these games because I don't think it's really bad offense. I just think it's both teams playing defense and a very high level time for the straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless. The best phones best networks, and no contracts. From straight talk wireless field Yates, let me ask you straight up. These two teams look very well coached and it to me when you look at these. And some of the other situations around the league today. Lamar Jackson, maybe the SE onside kick. Are you surprised that the experience level one? You have a guy in Philadelphia who's won a Super Bowl. And you have a guy in Chicago is a rookie head coach. Are you surprised that we're seeing really good football right now. Well, I think really good football might be a bit of a subjective. Obstinate offensively though defensively. Good football, aided by some bad bad. Cordial said pathetic pathetic on a couple of years. There have been some bad for Nick feels gifted Adrian Amos one in the end zone. Mitch Trubisky has tried to gift a couple of interceptions to the Philadelphia Eagles. But I'm not I'm surprised by how close this game is only because I thought. There was a chance that the bears could wrap this woman up and do so with relative ease that has not been the case with twenty one and a half minutes left in regulation between these two teams. And they've yet to find a group offensively either one of them, and that's probably I'm not saying, it's bad or good for sure bad football. It's just a different style game than I expected so far today. Well, and thank you to the Chicago Bears for completely torpedoing. My question is just got a too many men on the field penalty, which is a lack of discipline. But the reason I asked that question directly like that. Because I think we're seeing the playoffs. Now, get started and really carry on. Now, we're seeing a lot of coaches under fire for decision making you you clearly have front office experience, you know, how to build teams and whatnot. But so I ask you how much preparation goes into Pete Carroll's onside kick situation. Something Fridays are spent going over situations. A lot of it is the most obvious situations. Ton of goal line work zone work you progress. A week. But I think a good coach is preaching situational football everyday in practice. About. And so, but the thing is like, I don't think you've spent that much time working with your punter. Yeah. Handling on Hicks. I don't feel that's a fault of Pete Carroll. I think we've probably seen a kicker leave a game and not returned like on three instances all season hasn't happened regularly. So calling it some sort of major flop by Pete Carroll. Feels to me like a bit of a stretch. Yeah. And I would agree with you that I I don't think you can anticipate that situation. And if you didn't see last night the Dallas Cowboys get a twenty four twenty two win over the Seattle Seahawks. And a lot of it's centered around what happened at the end of the first half, Sebastian Janikowski, clearly swung his leg. Probably as hard as he's ever slung it and he pulled his hamstring. He was out the rest of the game so Dixon the punter for Seattle was actually kicking off. He did a drop kick kick off at one point. And then at the end of the game as they cut the lead the to they needed to do an onside kick, which went sideways. It was not executed as they wanted p Carroll said after the game. So. Just a little awkward and Pete Carroll. Took a lot of heat for that after the game. But Bobby I ask you about situational planning in games. Like this in these playoffs situations as a player. How do you anticipate things that? Well, frankly, you can't anticipate. Well, I'll say this when I was every place I've been Bill Parcells Jim Schwartz in Detroit. Bill Belichick we practice situation football. We we went over things that were crazy crazy out wire stuff where you look at. We had onside kick after safety where you had actually punt the ball, but you need to get it back somehow. And I'm thinking like how many times are we gonna use this like my seven years, we never used it once, but we still practice. It never. Did you have to try to figure out? How to onsite with your backup kicker because it's just something because it's your punter usually or random position player, and it's not something that you have enough time or men on the roster to really work with their work on. I don't necessarily put all that on peak here. I think the execution of it was done poorly is obviously the way too. Down the field. But outside of that, I can't really pin a lot on peak. I think they try to pound the ball the way they've always done. Dallas just beat them at their game. Maybe open it up and third down. And let Russell Wilson do a little more. But then that opens him up to a whole new level of pressure from a very good Dallas front football frenzy, ESPN radio and the ESPN app as we update you in Chicago. The Philadelphia Eagles have taken the lead ten to six. Let's get Miguel Flores in Chicago with an update on bears and eagles. Hey guys here at Soldier Field. Nick foles ends up leading the Philadelphia Eagles in an eight play eighty three yard drive with a little bit of help from the bears defense. Give them a couple of penalties to keep their drive alive. Nicole Zach earth the ten yard touchdown reception. Indians on Philadelphia on top of Chicago ten to six with five twenty left in the third quarter. Thanks, a lot flora is at Soldier Field in Chicago. And guys what set this up were that personal foul that we talked about on Amos, and then prince amukamara gets a pass interference penalty down near the goal line. And then I I mean really on nice throw thereby Nick foles. That's more of what you expect from Nick foles. There was that. I thought that was really good throw there to go to the two thousand eighteen big play down the field. Now, we're just going to throw it up. Get some. Seems like that. That's that's the way the NFL is right now. Chuck it up used to be as you throw the ball two out of three three things can happen to now. It's hey, throw the ball up. Probably maybe some illegal contact holding in their thank you can even catch it. Maybe what you saw right there on the touchdown. But that's a little bit more that you saw about Nick foles in this week. Putting her picks in forget up on Friday. And I'm looking at this like everything tells me to take the Chicago Bears everything I look at. But there's something about Nick foles. And then he looked like he may have been the double in the poll in dynamite in that they play really well with them. I can't get past. Like, I don't know what it is. And then you see him through the bad picking. Okay. Maybe finally, Nick foles is is playoff. Magic has run out. And then you see him do this. And all of a sudden, they take the lead you thinking. Okay. Well, maybe there is a little bit more pixie dust left in that little packet. Yeah. I am not a big fan of the way the NFL officiates things right now. I think that that idea that you're just throwing up balls in hoping for a yellow handkerchief that drives me crazy because I think it happens a lot more than we think it does..

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson played a high-stakes match that was simply missing good golf

"Channel eighty. We bring in now golf writer for ESPN and ESPN dot com. Bob Harris was at the match today with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in Las Vegas. And he joins us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. It's Aaron and Ari if you had to give today a grade overall from the experience to the golf to the whole nine yards with this. I ever pay per view golf match the day after thanksgiving. What grade would you give it? Well, I would probably give it a b minus. You know, I I happen to think that the match was a good idea that a lot of the negatives that will flip fourth or somewhat unfounded. But you know, at the end of the day for it's a really really work and be good golf has to be really good at. I didn't think it was that good tiger struggle for good. The today certainly the front line still had a chance to really build a lead on them because tiger was struggling. And and and wasn't able to do it. You know, the course played a little harder than I expected. You wanted. These guys make fun of birdie chances for eagles, and you know, have their this up and down back and forth. And it didn't really happen. Like that. There was some drama at the end, certainly. But you know, at the end, I think what you saw was to champion guy who won a lotta tournament really fighting hard to not lose. Either guy wanted to lose their wanna came down to the end, and they were trying with all they had, you know, and and obviously took it to four extra holes. And you know, I I know for fill this was day. He really really put a lot into trying to accomplish this and was able to get it done. Do you think Bob there's an element of you know, these are big competitors? And and just the mentality the psychology of getting ready for a major too so different. I mean, do you think that's why the Gulf was was was the way that it was just because you can't lie to yourself in that regard. Well, I think that's certainly part of it. And also, you know, look, I'm not making excuses for them. But in Tigers case, no, I don't think he was prepared is is he would normally wants to be you know, he he had a long season this year come back from back surgery. Played a lot of golf and after the Ryder Cup. He shut it down for a while. Understandably so still tiger really really been the last three weeks. We're sort of trying to gear up, you know, for something like this with all that on the line. And you know, that means, you know, you're kind of just getting back involved a couple of weeks ago, and then you're testing. Wittman and then you're working on your short game. And and and you know, I'm not sure it was just all it was just all there for tiger. You know, I just don't I still don't think that he he quite had everything that he needed. And you know, he didn't practice at this venue as much as spill did. And you know, again, I just think that's part of it. You know, it's a long year. And and he wasn't gonna go overboard getting ready for for one tournament. And yet, I think we saw some from them. Harry is our guest ESPN senior golf writer was in Las Vegas at the match between tiger and Phil today, which fell one for nine million dollars. Bob, you are one of only a few hundred people who is allowed on the grounds. So just kind of take us through your day. What what was it like getting in there? How much does what kind of stories can you tell from being able to actually physically be at this event, which was not open to spectators? You know, I was actually surprised how fluid the process was, you know, this is not a place that that hold public events or or even big events. It's a very exclusive and private golf course. It's meant for high rollers, you know, people who come here, you know, and want to play golf and are spending a lot of money to do it. And you know, there's there's some infrastructure. That's required to put out a golf that you know, when you're gonna have TV and media, and then, you know, even though the the number of spectators was relatively small a couple of hundred, you know, it's still you gotta park, and you gotta have you know, concessions, and they had some hospitality. And and you need to have you know, restrooms and all that sort of stuff. So, but from my standpoint, I thought it was fine. I mean and the atmosphere was good. I mean, they were these were clearly golf fans, and and they crowded around all the all the green. Liens and all the holes. And and you know, and that's frankly, this is why there was no there was no admittance for general spectators because they just they couldn't accommodate the places not equipped to hold that many people. And and obviously you've got it that have parking form. You gotta have this. Ability to be able to have that many people. And but I thought I thought they handled it well for the amount that they had and what they were

Nick Bosa: Withdrawing from school to prepare for draft

"Way, when you know, what's coming down the pike as far as the NFL draft and the type of contract that you'll be able to secure for yourself and your family. So football is big business and these players have to make business decisions for themselves as well analyst Damien Woody with us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Get triple action protection for optimal engine performance with Shelby power nitro plus premium gasoline, wood, man, we were talking about this the last hour before you came on you, right? We've all known this is a big business forever. It feels like the players are finally in college football specific. I'm talking about are finally realizing, hey, we are the big business and they're beginning to understand, especially the top players how much leverage in power. They actually have. Absolutely tray. Because I mean understand this. You're talking about college football now where some OT billion dollar business. Do the schools everyone is making money in this in this whole deal except the players the school the administration the head coach athletic director, everyone is making huge amounts of money except for the player. So I think we're finally starting to see awakening from from the the, quote, unquote, labor out there that you know, what without us. There would be no multi billion dollar enterprise that is college football. And he's got a starting to make smart business decisions for themselves. Talking to Damien Woody with us. Former first round pick ESPN NFL analyst on the shell Pennzoil performance line. And with that in mind, Damian because I almost like invest to what ends up being a contract holdout, Joey Bosa knows what he's worth and is going to wait until he's on the other side before he's going to put his body on the line again for we talked about a do you does it? I'm not going to risk it by playing any games during my final season in college. Well, I mean, listen, I bought don't think you're talking about, you know, a select few type of guys it's not like we're going to see just as onslaught of the onslaught or a tidal wave of guys that want to opt out not playing. We're only talking about the league of the elite type guys debut on clown Nick Bosa those type of guys. So I don't think this is going to be something where we're, you know, we're going to see a whole got pulled his tug move off going into the NFL Damian that we have certainly

New York Giants waive young QB Davis Webb in shocking move

"The New York Giants cutting Davis Webb. Now Gordon, I know we. I heard on the national side, but locally was the talk is serious last year when we had UI manning getting benched and the giants talking about eventually taking saquon Barkley at two in the draft. This idea that Davis Webb could seriously be the quarterback of the future. Was that a serious conversation around New York? It was not just fans of brought that up. It was media members that brought that up. There were people who consider themselves insiders who felt like no Davis Webb has a legitimate chance to be ally. Manning's era parent, which was strange because even at the time it was said that ally manning was going to play the expectation barring injury for at least another couple years. You're talking about a guy who would be going into twenty twenty without really seeing any significant time who you drafted in the third round and still then maybe he might be the apparent. But no, that was absolutely brought up as some by some that that was a reason why the jets were not gonna take a quarterback in the first round of the draft that they like Davis Webb and they thought of him. He was a third round pick. And that's not something to sneeze at so. But no, I never worked out that way and it was always kind of puzzling. I think to a lot of us that that Origene that did not draft. A guy is now going to put this faith in this guy, especially when he did not have good preseason this year. I mean, anytime you, you know, when he really got a bit of a chance in the preseason that first preseason game where he got a significant run, he was not good. So I think that the news is still kind of stunning that they decided to cut them essentially decided to go with the thirty year old Alex Tanny over him when he was just a third round pick a year ago. But the I know that talk about him at least within some circles in the media was out there talking to Gordon Damer on the show Pennzoil performance. Does that make you at all hesitant looking back now, even as great as we all think saquon Barkley is going to be this idea that in a year worthy quarterback class was considered so stellar and understanding. It looks like that talent is going to drop off in the coming years. When the guys we're seeing coming out of college. Does that give anyone pause now, looking at the fact that maybe even with a great running back giants could have passed on a quarterback that could succeed succeed, Eli manning that narrative is already well established in this town. Yeah. I mean, people are already hopping on that bandwagon might be the only exercise some people get, but that is the that is the exercise they're getting right now is jumping on that bandwagon because that's one that you can easily foresee right saquon Barkley could go out this year and as a running back, have a sensational season. But if the giants don't make the playoffs, go deep into the playoffs another year off the calendar for thirty seven year old ally manning and in the very same stadium, you have this young twenty one year old quarterback who very well could be making strides to show that he is the real deal and at least so far, right. We're talking about all these quarterbacks taken in the first round. He's the only guy that's going to be starting week one of those guys, all these guys that we talked about and we're dreaming all these scenarios before the draft Sam darnold. The only guy and he's still playing in this town with the along with the, you know the jets facing off against the giants who decided, no, we're not gonna go, rebuild. We're going to do quick fix. We're going to plug in a running back who's certainly going to be very talented now that that narrative is certainly out there. Well established and people are just looking for more and more evidence to kind of support it right
