CNN's Don Lemon Says Major Metropolitan, Democrat-Run Cities Have Become More Segregated

"Go major metropolitan areas all across this country have become more racially segregated in the last 30 years. I have to laugh at this in a sick way. Because more and more of these universities are having segregated graduations. Have you seen that Mr produced? Okay, everybody in the name of unity and diversity. We're going to have all right. The black kids, you're going to have your graduation Tuesday. The Hispanic kids Wednesday. Asian kids. Why do we have Asian kids here? The Supreme Court said We can discriminate against you. Nonetheless, they're here and the white supremacists on on Thursday, and the Jews were going to have them doing Shabbat because we can't really get the assembly room. Okay, There we are. Now this has gone on in our universities all across the country. They can't make up their minds on the left. Do they want segregation, but they want integration. They want universal unity. Or do they want separatism? They want it all and they want nothing. But anyway, when I want an intelligent explanation, I always turned to don lemon. Go ahead. Segregated, Not less, really. 81% of regions with more than 200,000 residents were more segregated in 2019. You know what I'd like to know. I'd like to know about wealth. Where do the wealthy Television hosts who are minorities. Where do they live? Were the wealthy athletes who are minorities. Where do they live? Write it and he and he also said, if if we lose if we lose it here, where do we go? And that's that's a very pertinent question, too. Absolutely. Well, Hey, I just want to make a comment. You know a lot of these guys. I remember back in the eighties, people were talking about that, you know, spike in trees and all that, And a lot of those people are hikers themselves and what they don't realize that those lands. A lot of them are federal lands or their lands that are privately owned, like up in Maine. They have the tree company lands. And these these these companies could shut that land down so you can't hike it or anything. They could patrol it, but they allowed People to go in and use it and fish. And also, here's another point to which the left. I mean, they're just ridiculous. One of the things with the federal lands is the reason Roosevelt set that all aside was not just to be left alone. It was to be used. If we needed resource is like wood, or we needed to mine. It. Etcetera, etcetera, and these people don't get it. It's not supposed to be. You know, trees just left even forest fires will take them if it's not managed, right. Well, let me look at California where they they were letting all the the the The wood, which basically is kindling would just they weren't clearing it out because they said, it was more natural. And then they having all these terrible fires, and, uh and and Trump called him out on it and said they should have cleared out all this all this deadwood. Literal dead would not, you know people working in Sacramento in the state office buildings and, uh and and they laughed at him and said he didn't know anything about it. And he was a philistine and all this stuff, and now they are spending. I think a half a billion dollars to begin a multi year project project of cleaning up the forests in California to prevent these forest fires. It's just it's crazy. You're right, Charlie. They don't seem to have any idea and they don't seem to have any idea where where is the energy going to come from mean? Now the give you a little bit about my Christian background, I became a Christian in nineteen eighty-five and it was really interesting how that happened. Wage I was working out of Missouri at a broadcast network there. And I was coming home from a meeting. I had one in Saint Louis. We were living in Jefferson City. At the same time, I tend to church. I thought I was a Christian, but I found out later on. I wasn't attending church. Doesn't make you a Christian. But always listen to Christian radio, because I enjoy talk radio, and that was the only radio you could get as far as talk in those days. So I thought I was listening to this particular pastor and he started talking about the darkness in our hearts, and it's so moved me that I pulled off to the side of the road and just wept. As I realized, I wasn't a good person..

"That about it and felt like i owned a lotta respect in the goddess. Here do a lot of teams. The we'd race every week and and i tried to race clean every week up seats. It's hard to do when we all want. So bad so yeah. Mfl garin a lot of respect from a lot of people and want to continue that this year was that criticism coming from the garage. I know so after daytona when you run the road course. You had a great television interview. Where you bluntly said. I've torn up a lot of shit and i think everybody really respected that and i'm curious because there's always going to be the trolls the critics but were some of those in the garage. Because you just said there you know everybody was waiting for when you take yourself out. Was that trolls and critics or were there people in the garage to now. We're also looking at you as you said of. He's got speed he just doesn't know what to do with it man. I never heard anything like they don't county. I don't know it's just what i what i thought people think right. I don't know I'm usually pretty honest with myself. Jeff for so good together were were honest with each other and then we can go back work right so. I don't know that that was my outlook on myself. I guess a change that list here so you say you wanted to change that. What did change. How did it change. What did you do was it working on. The trucks was spending time with the guys. Was it just a mental mindshift. How in the world from one year to another again it was completely different sheldon creed to where you're just making different moves. You didn't tear up as much stuff. It was almost like. You're racing smarter. So what exactly changed. How can you explain it to people. I think just put in more effort watch or video knowing what to watch is big honestly watching a lot of cup races in just cut videos. Seem with those guys do with the air. That's the biggest part of our racing is how to deal with air. The best whoever can do that. You can really make up for law on restarts with that with aaron in knowing how to use it and can honestly by yourself a few spots. If you do it right so doing that. And and working with josh wise law and just honestly listening like what can i learn. How can i be the best and obviously spend a lotta time with my guys out to shop like their if not the most pretty pretty close to it out of all drivers to go there and i walk around and say hot everyone Show the effort. And i think it has changed a lot from last year and i felt like i had a lot of growing to collide had just moved here in those lives. Just wasn't wasn't in in the game as good or as much so. I totally changed this year effort level and trying harder and not wanting to go home. That's the biggest thing i feel like..

"S racing is here to do a bit of reflecting on his accomplishment as well as preview the upcoming truck series season. That's gonna feature a few new things including quite a few road courses that he's excited about sheldon's championship. Season consisted of five wins. Nine top five finishes and thirteen top ten finishes. He led five hundred eighty seven laps and had an average finish of ten point. Two for comparison since we touch on what a difference. Twenty twenty was compared to his rookie year in twenty nineteen. Here are his number from that season. Zero wins four. Top five finishes eleven top ten finishes and one hundred eighty laps led however the biggest difference between the two seasons is that sheldon completed. The races going from three d. Nfc in twenty nineteen to just one in twenty twenty and we touch on that on what the difference was in his mentality and not getting himself in trouble. It's part of a great conversation that also includes how far he's come and understanding the truck that he's driving and what it takes to race successfully in the truck series the importance of dirty air and restarts and knowing where the line is to not step over it and again get yourself in trouble. Sheldon is going to be a great champion for the truck series at twenty three years old. He's going into his third full season and is very aware of how he wants to come across to the fans and those who are watching him in addition to knowing he must get the job done. Because there's always going to be a driver behind you ready to take your job and let me know that this is a return visit to the podcast for sheldon. He made his first appearance in november of two thousand eighteen which was episode forty eight as he was beginning his truck series career and at that time we sat down to chat about who he is and where we came from you can make sure to check that out to learn more about the reigning truck series champion but only after you hear today's episode with sheldon creed here on the racing writers podcasts..

That's kind of another issue with israeli on media and a lot of ways that there's not very rarely can you find that thank Newspaper which doesn't have a very clear genda that even at even there's a difference between During right versus being. I think oftentimes a lot of places sensationalized for just dramatic effected for also in an attempt to get yours. So that's a problem. A lot of israeli media she seen as someone is is paranoid and Very concerned with her image and I think there was a a moment around early. Twenty tens period Our they had regular contact with the adelson's Sarah another point accused claims that at that. Uh miriam adelson headed an affair with the editor of israel. So can you just for our listeners. Who aren't as familiar with the name. Would you be able to just give us a quick overview of who sheldon adelson is sure social nails. His was The owner of the las vegas sands hotel casino system billionaire but also brooklyn native or boston native. That grew the son of a taxi driver in kind of a little bit of a rags-to-riches story To become the the casino. Mogul that kind of we know today mainly we know about him from his contributions to the republican party on most recently to donald trump in the tens of billions and even gotten told to hundreds of millions of dollars on and then of course as well to to israel beit through threw his support for prime minister. Now but also just general causes throughout the country. Or the reo medical school in in the west bank various causes all throughout the country That he's given hundreds of millions of dollars to over the years now. Do you think that you can separate his philanthropy from his political activism or are they always sort of joined at the hip I think it's hard for most people to do that. I think that what can what can be separated is that he did give to causes again. Like you advocate sham. And it wasn't just like the to have a hall named after him or his wife miriam It was also giving funds to the to the maintenance staff at things that weren't always getting like the the the most sexiest titles or or or on parts of the yad vashem brand He was giving lots of money to for example. He paid for his hotel in las vegas. He paid for all the staff to continue getting healthcare and and and their their salaries during the during the pandemic Was publicized but again this not the typical things you might have made from when you hear about sheldon adelson on the other hand. Though most of his money was very much the vast vast vast majority of it was very very political causes And very much influencing both us in israel politics so for people especially on the center or left. It's very he's he's a very controversial figure. I mean I mean in. Israel i mean. Clearly he he. he bankrolls. israel's most Popular daily which is a free paper. The israeli yo- research paper which is Pretty controversial right It's got the nickname of beaten which is a combination of bb telling the newspaper. Because it's kind of seen by most even people on the right Neftali bennett criticized. It is kind of just being like pravda..

"Run. Sheldon congratulations. First of all, this has to be everything you've been dreaming of short of winning a championship to get to this point. Absolutely I mean the beginning of the year we talk about winning races and and how many you WanNa win and trying to get to the final four. But the be here now for the season. and locked into the final four it has. Everything we want. Everything we've ever wanted all year and and we worked hard for it so. Yeah. Just really excited to two thousand a week early and have stress free this week. Realistically, other than the stress level going down that you just mentioned logistically what does that mean for you being able to not worry so much about Martinsville not that you don't want to compete hard because I know you do. But logistically, what does that mean for you in terms of how you and the team can allocate your time and resources looking ahead? Yeah absolutely. We've been. We've always putting. This weekend and next week we're going to focus on Phoenix Obviously, we still WANNA go to to Martinsville the fast track and and you know not forget about it but yeah, we can. Turn out resources in in our time more towards Phoenix in Affleck that'll be. A little bit of advantage there to. To put more time into it than others and not have to worry about this week. That being said when you do raise for the championship at Phoenix, it's Definitely. A different track than we see a lot people call it a short track even though it's a mile in length describe how that happens that you guys race it as short track but other people call it a bigger track and intermediate sized track. Yeah. I mean it is. It is I guess bigger, but it drives like a short-track just. Light, break or hits light break into one and two and enroll in, and then slowly back to the gas and then and the three you're you're pretty hard on the brakes. So it's more three and four is is short track issue and then wanted to just just Kinda Roland. So. A Fun track I love Phoenix ran their ran good there at least the last time the van but. incompetent. We have good notes in put the other good truck for next week and Like I've gotten a lot better the race car driver also this year so. Going to try to put all that together and and. Shot, now you're the twenty eighteen Arca champ. I wonder how that experience compares to this experience of racing for a championship in the trucks. Obviously, the format was a little different but what did you take away from that experience that that might be helping you now? Yeah, I mean just just lapse honestly Looking back now I feel like I. was clueless and. had. A ton of speed and I feel like that saved me a lot of the year. This was so fast but didn't race well It worked out where we haven't to be consistent. So. had a lot to learn Coming on the truck season. Yeah.

Proud of has a lot of fans that come with that number over and get back into trillion obviously come from the dirt World Tony Very involved in the dirt road and sprint car racing midget racing. What was your initial attraction to Tony? Yeah I. Think for me. You know Tony was the only Nascar guy that you can live in watch on Sunday within I might go to local dirt track. Race in there you know with the Chili Bowl he was running there. So growing up I was just was pulled to him because he was always recent dirt sprint cars and dirt midgets, dirt late malls, and all these things and I knew he was from Indiana right down the road from me and my dad raised together. So I think that was a lot of the reason why just you put all those things in and he felt like he was one of us So that was always kind of that natural. You know all throughout my career I always looked up to him. That's how he always gave back spur hurry sing he always would would have her guys. In Usak Always Levi Jones j drake and all these guys at work some of my favorite drivers drive for Tsr. So I don't know there's something about that was that was really need. It's crazy. Those guys are so good over there. So I'm looking forward to the challenge I'm definitely in San Juan went eight races that's for sure but yeah, I think for us if. We can go and just make the playoffs in. You know run a front a couple of times that's going to be a big deal. Yeah. That's that's kind cold did as what I've tried to set eibar rs only does need to try to do that or a little bit better and in Columbus to set the bar high and getting the win this year so. I think the scheduled. For next year, boats welfare made between the dirt race. Now party road forces and seems like some of the tracks struggled out on on aren't on the schedule anymore young you want so. Going forward but yet certainly going to be a big step. "Back in March Congress passed the cares at it sent two hundred ninety billion dollars directly to Americans and it created a loan program for company struggling to meet payroll. It was sold as a lifeline for unemployed people and small businesses suffering from the pandemic but it also turned into a back door bailout for oil companies. Bloomberg News reported that three dozen large oil and gas companies made out with billions of dollars in government tax benefits corporates like marathon petroleum. An oil refiner worth nearly a hundred billion dollars. Marathon is at the front lines of attacking climate policy. The company is still funding climate denial groups and lobbying against any kind of federal action in January. A group of Democrats in the Senate asked marathons corporate shareholders to pressure the company on climate that included Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse. But not even Senator. Whitehouse realized the extent of the bailout for companies like marathon until it was too late. I didn't know it existed until I saw the I report on it. By the time we actually got built text. We had half an hour before the vote. So in a decent world with coronavirus pandemic and an economy in freefall as people had to shelter in place you would have thought that the better angels of our nature would have come forward and we would have rallied around projects legislation programs that really helped people so under the premise of helping struggling. Americans out of Work Senate majority leader. Mcconnell helped push a tax provision giving one hundred thirty five billion dollars in tax benefits to the top one percent of tax payers plus a couple billion more dollars to oil companies that included four hundred and eleven million for Marathon Petroleum Mitch. "The f. b. I. schwartzman offensively is is walk to strikeout. Ratio has always been good in the minor leagues. I get up zucca flirting learn arm. <unk> stolen cut stealing rates thirty three percents for his career so <hes> i really talented. Did i mean i can't breath flow across the league's of two-way thread up both sides of the baseball if any catcher in the minor so <hes> <hes> definitely nice up in the big leagues in a kind of a tough year. I had a knee injury <hes> three twenty in vegas but it's skin sporadic times farsi abet so it's nice for him to be up there and does limit on the east. It's as far as the talent don on wor yeah. He's really an exciting player. I i think <hes> you know it's probably fair to say he somebody that could potentially be an everyday catcher for the space at the big league level at some point in the next few years correct yes dumber monster as far as timetable and that'll be we'll see what happens i mean i'm not in vaguely start really the other way so just a matter how he starts out we're independent race as far as long term potential our all star storks long-term really exciting yeah so i about murphy. It's almost like there's always crazy stories and you know the big leagues remember stephen vote. I mean he's a career. Three hundred hitter in the minor leagues start off cold has been star for tampa bay eggs wheat traded forum and he didn't get hit first ten at bats so he was like oh for twenty eight starters career and he's like a two time all star in a in a big time earth contributor for the as in giant so that's how you start back there were race for set the come up not scared for him to steam the ball right away like you said leases old-school junkyard step our so yes not a surprise i mean honestly i mean that bigly call up a lot of different ways but it definitely <hes> is not a free cursor start. The long-term shoulder noisy comes with that. I think quite a pedigree obviously a he was a second round. Pick of the national news involved in a very significant trade obviously to sean too little trait with the nationals gets. It's off to a little bit of a slow start after get scholar again. Another guy called up before september polyps. What have you seen from him. So far and what are your impressions. You've obviously seen him for a long time time now. 'cause i am as scattered. I'm even before the trade. Yeah i mean shelling noise. He's a tough kid. Kinda like max months for a dislike awesome stands at his body type. <hes> he's a very deceptive athlete am so quick in small spaces especially very nimble feet that hands <hes> strong on closing college intouch night bob miles an hour but now he can he can definitely really defend is a plus defender at third base. He's got about fifteen games over there. Now i can be a solid defender second base if not doc. It's not above average so sheldon came over to us. He's a career right at three hundred in the minor leagues the ball to all fields. He has power and does baseball player now. Paul blackburn comes back up. I think especially in the bay area people who policies you know he's from cod kost county his out from <hes> from brentwood out there <hes> you know he's i've been up and down a little bit and if you look at the numbers without kind of understanding what the p. c. L. is all about las vegas. The ballpark has turned into you might not go like okay. That's a great season but given the fact that las vegas is clearly playing like a hitters park and the p._c. L. is notoriously a hitter sleek. What do you think echina- season that paul blackburn put together <hes> paul. He's definitely pitch well this year. I'm not deaf p._c._l. Homerun rate up there is <hes> <hes> the numbers are pretty insane so really don't judge is either here. It is more strikeout-to-walk ratio and when you give up home runs one okay now you still could make a few more moves here in september and i know you've you've seen a lot of las vegas hate. Seuss's ardo is a guy who's he's obviously everybody gets excited about. The stuff is phenomenal. We've seen it during the spring left handed. What's <hes> you know. He's come back from injury yet. I had the a shoulder injury and he said a couple of other things. What if your impressions ben and what do you think maybe he might add. If he gets called up i mean he's he's a master. You go back to left handed starters that can though upper nineties with the dynamite scenes breaking ball will it plus command. It's twenty one years old <hes> along with sean murphy in the long term standpoint the chance to to be you know above average so lazardo. I've seen kitchen highschool tough focused. Is that a couple hiccups this year out of his control but when he gets that opportunity i mean who knows how he begins but the long-term stamp point. I'm pretty positive it up jason. <unk> has a chance to be an all star caliber. That's the major league level and same traders noisy which is really really astonishing and blake train and that was a that was a truly astonishing trade. When when everybody looks back on that one trade i mean still yeah sean doolittle still young people totally at the time especially matson what's and had did well for them to a great trade for both sides but yet really <hes> for the future really looks great for the as <hes> an interesting potential wildcard at las vegas agass. Matt harvey is there now. I think people remember him from the mets. He was an all star with the mets. You know working his way back from what was very disappointing season with the angels. Have you had a chance to see him and it could be do you think he maybe could be an option and relief. He's he's now pitching their differences interesting case. You've only had an awesome. <hes> starts as clear up the mets hit a bump in a road in anaheim but yes i saw it start in albuquerque top out at ninety five a couple of change up so so we'll see what happens new stolen in relief right now in business phil variety of roles next transition point career but as we've seen scott emerson is luck best. They did coaches out there. I think that the best out of <hes> pretty much tape.

las vegas mets baseball sean murphy Paul blackburn vegas schwartzman las vegas agass tampa stephen sean sean doolittle Matt harvey sheldon scott emerson cod kost county anaheim brentwood Seuss blake

"Today's guest is two thousand eighteen Arkham Sheldon creed children is running final four races of the truck series this season with GM's racing kind of still making that move some off road to payment and going in circles. So I wanted to catch up with jeld. I appreciate GM s offering him. And I'm really really glad I did it. I have to admit Sheldon is not somebody that I know berry. Well, of course, I've heard of him since he's been running Arca. He's run a few Canaan races. He's made and -tunities star. Of course. Now some truck starts, but I really didn't know Sheldon's fullback around, and I left this interview really really excited because it was more than I thought it was gonna be Sheldon was a great mood was very talkative. I really learned a lot about just how extensive was back rounded EMMY, listen on it is. He's been in stadium super trucks. He's competed against Robby, Gordon. He's won a gold medal at the X games. He's competed in auto racing. He he he's just he's kind of done it. All of course, he started in in carts and things like that. So it was really exciting. I'm really glad I did it wonderful conversation. When through a lot of racing stuff. He's going to tell you why he thinks that watching you know, off road and stadium trucks a little more excited in watching NASCAR. So I thought that was interesting kind of has a point, you know, it's all about that. Attention span we kind of fight over pineapple on pizza once once we get into some personality type question. So a lot here too tight jest with Sheldon once again, just wonderful conversation. I appreciate GM s and for setting this up for for offering him up. And yeah, he went out and ran martinsville. If you're listening to this Sunday night yesterday, and he's gonna run Texas Phoenix and homestead and who knows what's going to happen. For that. So he definitely wants to be a NASCAR. And he is on his way to doing that. So still getting used to the pavement stuff. So getting used to going in circles. So let's get to it's again, really really really good in review wonderful twenty one year old. That's another thing that will come up. He tried to make myself and Ashley his PR Raphael old.
