"Number. The number of children dying from synthetic opioids like fentanyl has also been rising statewide. According to the Washington State Department of Health, 11 kids died from synthetic opioid drug overdoses in 2019, and in just four years, that number jumped up to 31 kids in 2022. And win reports that, according to state legislators, the current law was updated in 2005 to address meth, but hasn't been updated since the bill passed unanimously in the state Senate and now heads to the House for consideration. A bill that would bring back the state productivity board was unanimously approved by the state Senate last week, and the idea is to incentivize state employees to find government waste. We had one until 2011 when it was disbanded because of the cost, $2 million. But it saved $20 million. So of all the things to cut, that's one of the ones you would not cut. GOP state senator Phil fortunato says state employees are the ones to identify ineffective programs or other ways to save taxpayers money. So instead of going to a boss or a program lead who may not be in a hurry to have waste identified for fear of budgets being cut, the employee goes to the productivity board. That incentivizes to him to save money for the taxpayer and gives them a bonus for doing it. If passed into law the board would be required to evaluate the potential savings and that employee could receive up to 10% of the total savings or a max of $10,000. And then they gave Russell Wilson the 5 year 161 $1 million guaranteed deal to new ownership. There's a little new owners syndrome in there. But this was the classic, this guy was so great in the mid 2010s. He was off the last couple of years. Well, we can excuse that all these different ways. Monday night, he looked like the same guy he looked like the last couple of years. He's not the same athlete. There's a couple times when I felt like I wasn't running around. He just didn't. He missed some throws. Like the one played a Judy where he underthrew him to the point that it was an easy touchdown and it turned into like a hard one. I just wasn't impressed that I thought it was pretty telling. I know it's been discussed for 5 days, but or four days, but his coach was like, it's fourth and 5. You just gave this guy a 160 1 million guaranteed. And you're trying to 64 yard field goal and you're actually like setting it up to kick a 64. What are the odds that what did you think the odds were that that was going? I would have put out like 15 very little. I think the stat I read was like two out of 42 times has a kicker made a 64 yarder or more in the last ten years. And then fourth and 5 exactly. It's like 45%. So the odds itself, even if you're just looking at it in a vacuum, made no sense. I've spoken to Broncos people and it's like, and this sounds crazy. Like imagine that locker room, you come back and you convert that because Russell got it. Or if you don't, you hold your head up high and you say, all right, well, I was putting the ball and Russ's hands. You have no questions to answer. No one's going to question you. The truth of the matter is, Bill, they fumbled twice on the one yard line. They had 12 penalties. They were 6 points. Despite being in the red zone four times, there's a lot of reasons they lost that game. They put up over 400 yards. I don't think Russ looked terrible, but I hear you on your point of like, everyone's response being like, wow, they just got Russell Wilson thinking this is 2016 Russell Wilson. I was like, as you're talking, I'm racking my brain. There's been a few of them. I'm making like Albert Pujols getting the giant deal from like the angels, right? Yeah, I was thinking MBA. It's almost like those NBA trades where you get the NBA star who's like 32. Right, like a loser. It's like, hey, you see? I'm trading Chris Webber for Mitch Richmond. Yes, but what version of Mitch Richmond am I getting, right? That's a good example. Yeah, Mitch Richmond. I would be really concerned if I was a Broncos fan. Really? I feel like I feel like you wash that game away. That was week one and a weird environment with crazy shit happening. And you say, okay, week two, we gotta use it. I get it, but if rust was still that guy, that's like a Kaiser soze. I'm burning down the house game. And he just didn't look like that. I didn't think he to me, he looked exactly like you looked at last year, maybe it'll flip. I don't know, but I'm worried anyway, all the stuff they gave up and they guaranteed contract. And I'm not positive. He's a sure thing. So there's a little new owner syndrome. So that's two mistakes. Third one, the home run swing mistake. We don't have to litigate the Lance trade again. But they gave up the 13th pick in 21. First, in 22 and 23, and a third and 22, for a guy that I have no idea if he's good. I mean, I'm going to give him benefit of the doubt for how bad the weather was and all that stuff, but at the same time. Maybe. I mean, the other guy maybe. Right, the other guy did at the end. I don't think either guy was that great in the game, but I don't know. All of this, there's so many red flags. The fact that they kept Jimmy G, the fact that okay, what's the bigger mistake though? What's the bigger mistake? The trade itself, which is whatever, or the doubling down and without him winning the job saying, he's our guy, no matter what, even though Jimmy just took you to the, because we've been down that road. I mean, this is like heath schuler's the pick by the Redskins, and no matter what, they're starting him, even though Gus fort outplayed him every single time. And the opposite of this would be like, Brady, getting The Rock from Belichick and being like, I don't care about where you were drafted and what we're paying Bledsoe. You give the ball to the guy and the niners just gifted Trey and look, Trey might be the better quarterback. It was still very early, but for him to get it out of the gates and it to be a no brainer, even though Jimmy's still under contract at the time for 25 million and just took him to NFC championship game was a wild decision. That might be the mistake. Maybe you let Trey win that job or you go to Trey, but to say in February, Trey Lance is our guy. It's RG three and cousins or the opposite being Russell Wilson and Matt Flynn. Like Russell Wilson won that job and was a third round pick and Pete had the confidence to say, gosh, I got to give it to the best man. Trey Lance kind of given this job and I'm curious to see how much never works in football. It doesn't. It just does the team knows. I think a lot of points will be scored in this game so moving onto week fourteen. The forty niners come to town to take on the bengals and the last time that these two teams met was a couple years ago. Two thousand nine hundred and the forty niners won they. They dropped like forty points against the the bango so i think this is going to be an unfavorable matchup here because i do think that if the forty niners defense is what it was back in twenty nineteen you know it is going to be a long afternoon for joe borough and that offense and they are good against the run as well so i think makes sense going to struggle as well so yeah. I lean towards unfavorable when talking about this matchup so now moving onto week fifteen. The bengals go to the mile high city to take on the broncos This is a tough match-up here. Now it is late in the season if it was like earlier in the season. I'd probably say you know the broncos. This is going to be very very very tough match-up but i think it's going be a tough match up. Because the broncos defense i mean especially what it looked like in that preseason game i mean. It's like that. I mean this defense is gonna be it could be like it was in the super bowl days I don't wanna again. That's a little kind of jumping the gun a little bit. But you know they still got you know von miller. He's coming back They got briley job. you know. You got simmons. Back there ser tan. He had He had to pick six. So you know they they got some playmakers on this defense and they got offensively gotta they got some weapons there too. So you know this team. You know if. I if the quarterback position is good. This is going to be good. So i think it's gonna be interesting the key to the game. How do the bengals wide receivers matchup against the dvd's for the broncos. So i think that is really going to determine the outcome in this game. If debate at the bengals are going to be able to move the ball. You know through the air you know. I think they win this game. I think nixon could do all right here I mean you gotta deal with shelby harris coming up the middle for the broncos but i i would say you know. It's a tough match Mental middle of the road. Tough match-up I think borough will do okay here. But i don't expect anyone really to go off in this game but locked away on that then moving onto week sixteen the bengals take on the ravens. I think again unfavorable match up here. I just feel like the ravens are still going to have their number this year. So i kind of expect the same from the first match up more the same from last year. You know the ravens dominating the bengals so yeah. I'm going to say that for week. Sixteen weeks seventeen. This should be an interesting game. Okay you got the bengals going up against the kansas city chiefs okay. I like the ravens defense better than the chiefs. But i mean this is going to be a fun game. I think the bengals will definitely be able to move the ball against the chiefs defense. I mean. I don't think they're going to win. But i do think they will move the ball against this chiefs defense and even if they you know are down by two scores. I think put up garbage point. So i think the receivers do well i think mixing and do all. I think borough does well here you know. I think he'll throw between like two three touchdowns somewhere in that range You know in this game. Something like that But it should be fun game. It's one o'clock game and who knows that the bengals are in contention may be you know. This game gets bumped up to four twenty five or sunday night. Maybe who knows but You know it should be fun game so moving onto week. Eighteen final game of the regular season. The bengals take on the cleveland. Browns cleveland last time these two teams met in cleveland. You know it points. Were scored the bank. The browns they were mostly in control the whole time. You know the bengals did make an interesting but You know. I think more of the same you know. Both teams are going to put up points. You know they got the the bengals. Got the receivers to you know. Keep up with the browns But i do think the browns will win this game. I do think that you know fantasy. Wise for the the The bengals i i think they they do well Even though i do think that the the you know browns defense is going to be improved in the first match but again it's a divisional opponent so i think that both teams are going to put up points You know in this game. So that is the schedule for the bengals. And i think the really the most important thing for the bengals is keeping joe borough healthy. That is the key of this. Year is to keep joe borough healthy and to protect him because if they don't protect him i mean the bengals are going to be able to do anything i mean. I do think they are going to be a better team than they were last year. I mean if joe mixon is healthy of borough is healthy if dramatic chase in borough you know are like what they were at. Lsu you know they could do whatever they want. I mean i wanna see what the tight end spot you know is gonna do because i really didn't talk about it. I actually didn't talk about it at all. I didn't mention anybody drew sample or anybody else. you know because i don't really know what to expect i mean they got cj osama coming back. I think And i think him in borough had a little bit of a connection last year and then he tours achilles. I think in week two against the browns last year. So you know. I didn't really talk about the tight ends. Because i just feel like the receivers are going to get the bulk of the targets. So that's why. I really didn't mention the spot. I think mixon's healthy. He could definitely do well this year. I think he's proven he can be a you. Know it could be a solid fantasy running back Obviously i have more so as my rb to in my dynasty league and listen. I'm not like you know excited. That i have joe mixing but i do like i do like my nixon dobbins combo but you know i think it could have definitely been better but you know. We'll see what happens with that. But really the main thing for the bengals as they have to keep borough healthy because you know if if they're offensive line was competent last year. Burwood is still bill. Burr went to play the whole season and he probably would have won rookie of the year offensive rookie of the year. I mean herbert definitely deserved to win it but Borough was in the conversation for that and then you know he got hurt and you know. Forget it you know. I think that that's really the biggest thing for borough and that's really what's going to determine his fantasy about is Fantasy season is you know him being protected because the weapons are there. It's really all it's really more. So just about the offensive. Line him gaining his confidence back. You know so he can be successful and you know sling that football around and get it to the guys that you know under steam. Because he's got a really. I like is receiving core a lot. And i like mixing in the backfield you know. He's got weapons. It's just you know you gotta be able to hold them upright because otherwise he's really not gonna do anything for you you know and that's really the key it's building offensive line. So yes so. "I think to compete with him on the special teams and we've seen a lot of different guys kind of rotating in their on kickoff return and put return and so it's interesting to see you. I really think that wide receiver is kind of up for grabs after the first war to five guys all right so before. I let you run always appreciate the time now busy. You are obviously with the season. Starting what are you looking for over the next couple of days. There's going to be a break in there and one more non padded practice before they strap them on. So you know as we get into the weekend if we get to watch a lot of the practice in the weather may dictate take that and then another practice. Monday before i i believe the puts pads on tuesday. Yeah one of the positions. I haven't been Paying too close attention to mostly. Because they're the furthest away most days is is the defensive line. And i and i think it's important to to watch them because obviously with cell going down today and the and it doesn't sound like you know that's going to be too serious of an injury according to vic fangio today but i do want to see the kind of depth. They have there because i don't think they have a ton of it and i know they have some young guys. They're that they're hoping can step up into to bigger roles like a deshaun williams and dream on jones. Obviously we know that he's a good player and we know what we're we're going to get out of a guy like shelby harris but after that you know who's going to be the next guy shimmer stephen as a guy they brought in for minnesota. I kinda want to watch him a little bit. I think also outside linebacker. I know obviously von and chubb but Is malea is military taking another step Stra nod or orchestra naza inside linebacker tosca and jonathan cooper and then obviously inside linebacker to you know i just mentioned stir not. I think he's looked really good in camps so far i know that he's been injured and i think he is pushing for one of the starting jobs. They're inside linebacker. We haven't got to watch barron browning. But i think when he's healthy he's also guy that could push for one of those spots really on the defensive side of the ball. I feel like. I've i've watched a ton of the offense. Obviously the quarterbacks is something that we're going to watch in breakdown every single day but You know. I think some of that. Front seven guys on defenses israeli where i'm gonna keep my attention. Good rain kill. You may want go grab one. Because i think it's going to be a little damp. Assuming we get to actually watch practice inside. They will let us. I think watch it. You know in the kobe world. All bets are off and maybe two only so so. The gate is they're struggling with the weight of expectation, but the expectation is that Nuggets are going to be here. They're going to be challenging. To go toe in MBA finals. For the next couple of years. And that's a lot of pressure because Windows Championship Windows windows to compete always close. Quicker than you think they will. But the window it for contention is open. For the Denver Nuggets, and it was in it was last season, but certainly in the bubble where we saw the Denver Nuggets. For the organization that doesn't skip steps They took the very next step. Which was playing for a chance to go the MBA finals. And in 2021. "Shelby. It is such a pleasure to have you back on untangle. All thank you so much for being here. Thank you for having me patricia. I love talking with you. Yeah you were one of our first. Meditation teachers asleep experts and you did our sleep. Basics course on meditation studio and now just come out with your first book called. The women's guide overcoming insomnia for storm. So proud of you. Thank you so much for writing this book we needed. That's for sure and let's start with this question. Why did you decide to write this book. There are books out there for just general insomnia treatment overall but i work with so many women of all ages from teenagers to older adults. And it's like women oftentimes either suffering silence or they don't appreciate what is treatable and what isn't treatable a lot of times think. Oh this is all just hormones. And there's nothing i can do about it and sometimes there are things that can't be done but a lot of times. There are things that can be done and they wanted a book that really addressed that women in particular. And how has it been received so far. Is that a silly question. Because you know this book so desperately. It's been fantastic. I am so excited with the reception. Overall it's funny. I have colleagues and patients who will be reading the book in like a coffee shop or something and then they'll tell me that other women will come over to them. Where did you get that book. I need so it's really just venus. The most surprising to the honestly about the whole thing is that men have come up to me and said things like is this only for women can help me to so men thinking that there were secrets in there that rank being kept from them but yes other than the hormonal chapters and all the women who is a lot in there that's applicable to. Yeah i think so too uae. Are we such a sleepless bunch of peak ball. I think there's a few things. So the biggest thing i think is that we're just distressed society. We just don't know how to put an end to the day anymore and there are some days that were going going going. We have our phones on us nonstop. We think that we can just put things down and crash and sometimes we can crash and go right to sleep. Oftentimes we wake up a few hours later opening up early. Whatever was on our brain right when we crash right there other times. We just can't turn off because we're going going going right until bedtime. And i think that's the biggest factor the other big factor for women especially or torments. That's a big thing that happens throughout the lifespan. So whether it's just performance -tuation women tend to have really poor sleep right beforehand or when they're pregnant or just after having a baby. There's a lot of anxiety and depression. I can happen. And that's for men to but paramedic pause. I think distressing variety depression or emotional shifts. There's a big firestorm of reasons why we're having a lot of insomnia one of the first things you were talking about just now with just about how busy we are and how our nervous systems are on high gear all the time. Do you think that it is really hard to sort of. Shut down our bodies before going to sleep so that were it's almost like we're in shock like our bodies are moving so fast so fast fast. It's like if you look at a poppy. That's it takes them a while to calm down. I always describe it to patients when they always the patients. Fight me all the time just allowing for. I would love our of winding down before bed. I that's even not enough but patients will fight me for a half hour an hour. But i always describe it as sleep is not an on off switch. If you think that you can just turn the light switch off and just go right to sleep. You likely are sleep deprived person if it really should be a process of a dimmer switch. Way or slowly dimming. Your body demeanor brain to wind itself down to land the plane gently so that you can men glide into sleep that makes so much sense and a lot of people use television as a way to mine down. But you're saying that that's not really a great way to wind down. There's reason so one thing the reason. We don't love screens staring it's like it's one thing if you're an hour before bed. You want to do a meditation. I totally all for using meditation now before listening to something. Put your phone down. Not staring at it. The problem is staring at a tv or screen right before bed for a prolonged amount of time is that it's too so one. Is that the screen. Your brain reads the screen the light from the screen just like a son and our brains do not like the sun to be able to go to sleep so we have. This thing called. Melatonin are brain's melatonin a hormone of darkness and it makes us sleep. People take pills of melatonin but we have in our brains naturally and melatonin comes out when the light goes out or the sun goes down. If you're staring at a screen your brain thinks the sun is still out. And that's the problem so you're making your sleepiness hormone melatonin surpressed and we've seen in data that it can actually take an hour longer for some people to fall asleep. "Shelby. It is such a pleasure to have you back on untangle. All thank you so much for being here. Thank you for having me patricia. I love talking with you. Yeah you were one of our first. Meditation teachers asleep experts and you did our sleep. Basics course on meditation studio and now just come out with your first book called. The women's guide overcoming insomnia for storm. So proud of you. Thank you so much for writing this book we needed. That's for sure and let's start with this question. Why did you decide to write this book. There are books out there for just general insomnia treatment overall but i work with so many women of all ages from teenagers to older adults. And it's like women oftentimes either suffering silence or they don't appreciate what is treatable and what isn't treatable a lot of times think. Oh this is all just hormones. And there's nothing i can do about it and sometimes there are things that can't be done but a lot of times. There are things that can be done and they wanted a book that really addressed that women in particular. And how has it been received so far. Is that a silly question. Because you know this book so desperately. It's been fantastic. I am so excited with the reception. Overall it's funny. I have colleagues and patients who will be reading the book in like a coffee shop or something and then they'll tell me that other women will come over to them. Where did you get that book. I need so it's really just venus. The most surprising to the honestly about the whole thing is that men have come up to me and said things like is this only for women can help me to so men thinking that there were secrets in there that rank being kept from them but yes other than the hormonal chapters and all the women who is a lot in there that's applicable to. Yeah i think so too uae. Are we such a sleepless bunch of peak ball. I think there's a few things. So the biggest thing i think is that we're just distressed society. We just don't know how to put an end to the day anymore and there are some days that were going going going. We have our phones on us nonstop. We think that we can just put things down and crash and sometimes we can crash and go right to sleep. Oftentimes we wake up a few hours later opening up early. Whatever was on our brain right when we crash right there other times. We just can't turn off because we're going going going right until bedtime. And i think that's the biggest factor the other big factor for women especially or torments. That's a big thing that happens throughout the lifespan. So whether it's just performance -tuation women tend to have really poor sleep right beforehand or when they're pregnant or just after having a baby. There's a lot of anxiety and depression. I can happen. And that's for men to but paramedic pause. I think distressing variety depression or emotional shifts. There's a big firestorm of reasons why we're having a lot of insomnia one of the first things you were talking about just now with just about how busy we are and how our nervous systems are on high gear all the time. Stephen A.: 'I'm embarrassed by what I'm seeing from the Pittsburgh Steelers
"Me let me to just a little bit allow me to express to you the alarming level of frustration that I on questionably feel at this particular moment in time. I cannot put into words how disgusted I am. That the Pittsburgh Steelers ended up losing this game. I can't even put it into words. Ben Rothlisberger four hundred sixty two yards passing wasted. James connor. He's no Le vian bell. Juju Smith Schuster, thirteen receptions, one hundred and eighty nine yards wasted. For two reasons above all else. Big Ben Rothlisberger leading the league in red zone interceptions. Do another one yesterday was Shelby Harrison defensive lineman getting blocked in the coverage. And ultimately Ben Rothlisberger throwing the ball right to. Now. We can make the argument that it's the freakish interception that Ben Rothlisberger may have ever thrown as he so eloquent it in the aftermath of their twenty four to seventeen loss to the Denver Broncos yesterday. Denver Broncos team. That's now beating the charges in the Steelers in back to back weeks, by the way, we could go that route. All we can state the obvious. If you watched it throw, ladies and gentlemen, it was an interception. No matter what. Whether it was Shelby, all whether it was Roe. I'm sorry. Shelby. Harris. Oh, whether it was Roby who had. Antonio Brown completely covered. I don't know what the hell big. Ben Rothlisberger was thinking throwing that pass made absolutely positively no sense. Whatever you can point to that specific interception. But it was going to get into septic. It was going to get into septic. There is no doubt about that. There's absolutely positively. No doubt about that. Yet despite case keenum only one hundred ninety seven yards. Despite the fact that Denver didn't have the most formidable run a game to speak of. They still ended up winning the game. I mean Lindsay did have one hundred ten yards on fourteen carries. That's almost eight yards per carry. I got it. But the real culprit and all of this was bent. It was turnovers from Connor. It was a drop touchdown pass from Washington. I mean, I'm just looking around right now at the Pittsburgh Steelers. And I can't even express. The level of my frustration. Because you see regardless of how. But thank Pittsburgh secondary looked earlier in the season. They had got things together. They were looking a little bit better. But now, I'm of the monster. They lost that game yesterday. And I said, dammit, they just lost a trip to the AFC championship game. Now. Now, I'm not saying that laser gentlemen, mama's saying that it's a very simple explanation. And you know, what that explanation is? It's the fact that the Pittsburgh Steelers now dropped to what is it a fourth seed. Or at least a three seed in the AFC that means Kansas City and New England both ahead of you. That means to get to the AFC championship game. You're going to have to be one of the other one a row, and I don't think they're going to do that. Now had the Steelers and all likelihood possibly fighting for birth to the AFC championship game at Arrowhead stadium against the kids City Chiefs. You know, what if you had home games prior to that one could stand the believe who knows what kind of upset could transpire maybe I'll get lucky. Now, it's no way in hell.
