"About the nfl week. One right around the corner where you been doing. Our nfl picks podcast tomorrow. But is there any sort of early liability that you're already having to move numbers a little bit just based off of where the actions coming in. I've seen a number of small road favorites even non conference road favorites which typically red flag. But i'm having trouble talking myself into some of these dogs as a as a senior trader. Is there something you're keeping your eye on there like an eighty twenty split already that you're you're seeing so you don't like the lions and i do to live not not to win outright but san francisco strikes me as that team the forty niners that is going to ruin everyone's survivor contest. Everyone's three-team teaser. They're just it's too easy. I've been gambling for too long and al and you know as as the guy works behind the book bets like those. It's too easy dangerous showing you. I mean you're talking to guys who are considering the texans one mixture of lawrence and three point road. Favorite team was more than fifteen last year in survivor pool. You have to go those routes if you pick the same stuff everybody else that's gonna pick you're never gonna win. Need those good teams at the end of a chance. Someone all so i don't this respect. Respect the texans. But you know i think basically when you go into week one you know what sides are going to need right. We're going to need the lions to beat parleys. We're going to need bears games interesting. I think that we'll we'll see some decent sharp action that's been driven up. They still have the shawn watson we know. Travelers is gonna be good but peyton manning threw how many picks in his rookie season a little rough. So i don't think that's a slam dunk. Our road road favorite. But yeah i mean you know who are gonna need the near the bears against the rams.

How fast he is but at thirty two those of all those things and so this is just a monster downgrade. You do look at the schedule of defenses. That the texans will play its. It's bottom six overall and against the oh. There is some hope there. I guess defensively that is going to still be a problem. You're looking at a unit that finished thirtieth inefficiency. The schedule of offense is this year are going to be really good. Can be hovering around the top. Five rate in basically overall efficiency passing offense all of those key areas I i don't really know how this team's going to get to their win. We start thinking about what's next trade speculation. Who's going to go where, when free agency does open up. What the heck is going to happen with the draft? Because I don't see any way that the Jaguars they're trading the number one overall pick even with the Shawn Watson available. Andre see when the Texans eventually changed their tune on that and cave. You also have potentially Russell Wilson available. I guess I don't think he's going to get traded. So I don't see any way that Trevor Laurence is not going to go the Jaguars. I don't think that a train's gonna happen anything along those lines and you get a lot of talk on the draft. What's gonna happen with that number two spot and that number two spot. It's very compelling to me because I don't think the Jets are gonna have Sam Donald on their center Come week one next year. You have guys that will be in the M V p conversation. And I know to Sean is significantly younger being at 25, Rusty and 32. So for the next 5 to 7 years, both those quarterbacks you would think We're going to continue to be an elite spot. And right now both. They're frustrated. And I would say the Texan situation is obviously worse. Well, that doesn't seem as if that could get Prepared and fix and they could patch up that relationship because it seems over once you request that trade I'm sure the Texans would be fine if he walked it back. This isn't the league where you just go because you make a fuss publicly, and I think to start watching that every right to do that. Trade offers for this Shawn Watson 17 teams that could actually trade for the Shawn Watson and number 17 the first team that came up Or the Green Bay Packers. Now, here's what Bill has to say. Here's the proposal. Packers. They would send Aaron Rodgers to the 40 Niners. And the 30th overall pick in 2021. Quarterback Jordan Love would go to the Texans. 40 Niners would send the 12th overall pick in 2021 2022 1st round pick to the Texans 2022 2nd round pick to the Packers. And then quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo would go to the Patriots. So this would be this is a 3 14 deal. Texans would send Shawn Watson to the Packers. 2022 4th round pick to the 40 Niners. And the Patriots would send the 142nd overall pick tow the 40 Niners. Now what he writes is, he says, Listen, just a classic 14 trade with the M V P bouncing around. 40 Niners finally get Rogers after drafting Alex Smith, the head of him all those years ago to sending out two first rounders in the second round there and getting 1/4 rounder back from the Texans. That seems like a lot, But we know the 40 Niners are willing to go over the top the land of player when they really want them. They would have to be considered Super Bowl favorites of the next two years that they get Rogers and if they win a Super Bowl, nobody will care about the pics they gave up. They also get 1/5 round pick for the from the Patriots for Garoppolo, who has a no trade clause in his deal for 2021 can limit where he goes. Garoppolo is motivation to accept the trade would be financial as the former Patriots backup is unlikely to get to $25 million, doing his current deal in 2021 if he's cut, so Basically, the Texans would ship out Watson and then getting a pick hall. In return, they would get three first round picks, including the 12th and 30 selections in the 2021 draft. And really Houston. Doesn't have much picks because of the whole Bill O'Brien fiasco. So it's an interesting scenario and I know that for a lot of Packer fans at first glance, you look at this and say no way. In fact, we just had a does that a text from the 262 that said, not a chance. It's dead on arrival. Consider Shawn Watson is considered. One of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL. He had a very good season and I'll read off the stats in a little bit. Get a very good season for a team that had four wins and really bereft of talent. He's 12 years younger than Aaron Rodgers. Now listen. If this were five years ago. I don't think there's any way you would ever consider this. But in 2021 Aaron Rodgers at 8 37. Who will most likely be named the M V p this year. Who's still performing at a high level. This could guarantee Green Bay. Just like in the transition from from farm to Roger's. Not far. Excuse me. Rodgers sat for four years. Four seasons under far Just like you had that transition from from far of the Rogers You could have a transition to a 25 year old Top five quarterback who's not yet in his prime. And while I think to show what's it look, He's one of my favorite players. He reminds me a little bit of Michael Vick. He's not as fast as vague, but he can scramble. Well. He's got a big arm. Anyway, one of my favorite players to watch and I've watched a lot of them because of that, because I've been supporting the Texans, whether being pigs or bets or whatever. And while he is a terrific player, I don't think he's a top five quarterback right now. In the NFL, and people are going nuts about what it would take to get him and all they need to get him and in particular with the Jets and the jet fan and the media. About going on. And now I get that they need an exciting player specifically offensively, it would be nice to have that type of quarterback, but it doesn't mean that all of a sudden the Jets are gonna go from what they were a year ago or what they have been the last 10 years. Two Super Bowl contenders because of the Shawn Watson doesn't work like that. You need to build through the draft bottom line. And giving up a ton of draft picks to get one player. I don't know if that makes sense. In their case it happens to be. They have a surplus of picks because they've been giving up trade Jamal Adams and you bring in these pigs and Um The more you know they're trying to trade in and acquire these topics. You know, now you have them. So maybe they have a luxury to where they can trade from a new area of surplus, But still, it doesn't mean That is going to work out. Look it what to Shawn Watson is done in Houston. By the way, the Texans yesterday said that they're not, um, they don't want to trade him. They've got weapons on offense. They have a great running back and David Johnson It always hurts some of the year but still They traded Hopkins, but they saw tons of wide receivers. Making plays down the field for Watson and what Was at times. And should have been probably Maura and explosive offense even go back to when he had Hopkins. Still where they went one playoff game, and they were lucky to win that they probably should have lost the Buffalo a couple years ago. I'm not knocking to show Watson. I love him as a player. I don't think he's top five quarterback in the league like everybody saying, I don't mean he's top 10 Top Knot Top five. That's a bit of a stretch. What the idea of going and trading three first round picks plus I'm not so sure that that's the answer. It seems like a quick fix and exciting move to make. You might be federal. And look, I know. One of the reasons why it's being brought up is because Watson said the Jets would be atop his list because of the hiring of Robert Saul. I don't know if that's the right answer. I think I'd rather be patient and whether you draft a quarterback, whether you try to go with Donald the model would be similar to what San Francisco did. Will you build a team that can play defense? You build an offensive line and a ground game? And then you Figure out what you're doing with the quarterback. You might be able to win with Sam Donald and you keep all those draft picks and you know, obviously, if you can keep the draft pick, you have to hit on those players. Or if it's not Donald somebody else. Um, nothing. You can't win with Shawn Watson. But you were taking from a strength and now changing that tol turning it into the Shawn Watson. If you're thinking that, that all of a sudden is going to elevate you To a legit playoff contender. It's not look at the Houston Texans. So I think we just need to calm down a little bit on How much you'd be given up for dead Shawn Watson. Three first rounders, Even with the excess that's a lot Especially for a team who is not as closes. Let's say Miami. So I'm trying to think if I'm the new GM. Yeah. What's that long term play and isn't giving up like three drafts. Basically the Ricky Williams trade but three times over for someone like the Shawn Watson and then you gotta pay Watson so complex. Um, is it then? You know, Trey, Lance? Yeah, There's a question marks all over the place. But he does have that upside, potentially right. Um, and then the other tricky things as well. If you wanna punch on lock you say, let's get Vanja lock another year. And then we'll see what happens next off season and look at that 2022 draft. That's why in the pool I said hope for 2022 because this 2022 quarterback draft, so we're projecting two years out. Loss is going to change. But it's gonna It's not. What tear does that guy have to be in for you ticket because you said Shawn Watson, Top five quarterback, and there's very few people are gonna argue that and I think everybody would love to have a top five quarterback. But again, there's 32 teams so all 32 teams won a franchise quarterback, but not all 32 will ever have them. How high up Do you have to have a quarterback where you consider him? The franchise quarterback? Oh, man. Um, uh, That's a really great question. I think It's so infamy to me. You can friend his quarterback without Sorry, e guess I'm dialing stuff with my face here like an old man. Create no to me. You can be a franchise quarterback win Super bowls. On and still warrant that name without being a top five guy. I think the Sean Watson's the kind of rare opportunity of getting a top five quarterback in the league and I think if I'm projecting out for the next three years He's there aren't so many other opportunities of take him big swings at guys who are potential talks. Five pins, eh? So just to clarify there's a slight difference for me and how I qualify that. But to me, you can be a franchise quarterback in and warrant the kind of money that comes with that. And then this one to the Niners is a really interesting one for me, because I I love that coaching staff over there. But We see roster building work in the NFL wher that quarterback on his rookie deal. Allows a GM to go all sorts of crazy guys like Khalil Mack or Robert Quinn or other things, even Alan Robinson to a certain point. And I can't help but think that if if I had my just riffle Ricana word if I had my druthers Try and build a team that way with the rookie quarterback that I really like and can and can supplement the roster around. Shoot if you got the Shawn Watson out there yet Franchise definer, but you have well and here's the problem. You didn't have the rookie quarterback contract you have the quarterback. Texans don't want to trade doing a C team. So maybe the Bears can hopscotch a few teams. They're gonna take the best deal. I mean, I know what they're they their wish would be not to see him in the FC. What if the best deal or deals that are on the table are from the Jets or whomever. Miami. They're going, They're going to take that. That's a franchise changing. Deal so you can't sit there and say, Well, I just wanted my conference. You have to take the best deal. It's on the table. Well, we also know is that he's very unhappy with the way the organization has proceeded this off season and his look back at some of the organizations. Prior actions. What we can see here is that not only can be Sean watching requested trade, but he also could decide to withhold the services and because of the no trade clause in his contract. The Texans have very little control here. Essentially, this is like an MBA situation. This is the Shawn Watson getting to pick where he wants to go. This is an MBA style trade if and when the Texans get to the point that they are ready to make it, which they're not right now, but I believe in other people around the league believe They're going to be forced to get to eventually and because that no trick clothes exists. If they said Hey, we want to trade the show watching to hypothetically Chicago and he said, I don't want to go to Chicago. I want to go to Miami. I'm not going to report Chicago or I want to be traded to the Jets. I'm not gonna report to Chicago, you could begin to go through any of the variables in any of the hypotheticals in your mind. My list is I don't want anybody off the Patriot Street and I want whoever did Shawn Watson once. That's it, That's it. "Know, watching in So many ways is at least you know what we've seen in the first four years. Roughly of his career is a lot of ways. A complete antithesis of Carrie Irving agreed. Who was, you know? Did Shawn Watson is the ultimate definition of steadiness? Um And with Irving, there's there's an erratic nature to his not not in terms of the law, so I wanted to, but But just in terms of which Kyra is entering the building today, what's carry thinking what car is going to do? They show Watson is like Kyrie great, but shows up and a steady and is a no galvanizing force for that team. But he's ticked off, and he's ticked off for a couple of reasons the hiring process whether it's the GM. Apparently he wants the enemy. It doesn't look like the Texans will go in that direction. It all in there if you want, I know And that surprises me because I thought I think that was the destination that I predicted that Eric. The enemy would wind up and if you were called looking and explain a great quarterback And potentially scheming into a great offense. If you don't necessarily have the talent around you, I'm very surprised by that really surprised that surprised and disappointing. That's actually that that's baffling. But what we do know is that what least as per the reports to show Watson not returning the coals of Texans management. And and that's fine. That's fine. I wouldn't call him back either because you stopped over the coach who was you know all over the place for a couple of years got rid of my best weapon. It's traded away all the premium assets. No first round pick No second round pick, Salary cap l I mean, my defense things 33 NFL. I mean, you've done nothing, that's all. Really, that's all. That's what you paid me so I can't be too mad. He did pay me 100 53 million bucks, but Where do you think this goes and the responsibility of the Texans Toe Watson to lean on him for the hiring process. So first of all, I think about how odd this is. It's very rare than a displaying athlete. Gets asked or or even given the opportunity to be involved in the coaching search, or, in theory, even the general general manager search And I think that's what we can look back at that cryptic tweet that he put out or maybe was so, uh, instagram, whatever it was where, he said some things never change because maybe he wanted to be involved and who was going to be the general manager, and they went with a guy who followed the same path that Bill O'Brien did. That is the guy from the new world in Patriot. So some things just don't change. And maybe it made him think. Well, you're going. You went around me already. The higher the general manager. Um, now you're probably gonna go around me toe higher the head coach, especially because I wanted you guys to interview at least give him a cursory interview. Eric the enemy and we know that they didn't do that. So he's upset about this, but I have to take a step back first bt up and wonder the prudence. Of asking a sitting player, even a guy who you played paid a lot of money to who's likely to be a part of this franchise for the foreseeable future, if not his entire career, giving him the authority and the found of The voice, a voice a say, and who you hired to be his boss. And what about a voice? Not not authority. But voice Forget that think about that. He you're asking someone who's going to be I think about this dynamic. You're asking someone who's going to be underneath. The boss to help hire that boss right. So even that boss now also feels undermined right because he could. He's answering to a guy who helped who gave him the gave the team be okay to hire him. It's just It's just weird. It's It doesn't make sense again. I'll go back to what I was saying when this guy Reed Irvine conversation. Is a hierarchy of authority that's being distorted by the Houston Texans. Now it's one thing to give. I think Shawn Watson and I d like to say, Well, I want this kind of coach. We need an offense of mind. I like I'd like I'd like a guy who uses motion and misdirection and whatever you know, go find that guy. As opposed to do you like this guy and him? What if he says no, And they hire many ways, because I think that's it was the issue with the stereo that he didn't necessary one because stereo to be their general manager and the heart of anyways. And so it's just an odd It's an odd set up. I know that this happens post career. John Elway is the perfect example. Guys get back into the front office. You know the kid the guy up in, uh, in in Detroit right now, Bill, Man of Spielman. You know you get back into it, but why you're while you're playing. It just feels a little odd to give a current player. Front office power, especially in the NFL. Wher the contracts are basically worth the weight of this this piece of paper right here large part, but not that well at will employees. Listen, I would have a little separation. I would make the and I hear you, but I would make the distinction between Ah, player. Even somebody is great and as qualified as the shore Watson to, you know, contributing and add to the conversation with the process. If you will, I would not invite their opinions on the general manager. To me. That's a nonstarter like green. You will have no bearing who we hire is the GM. That's right.
