"The organization. The Patriots way postseason disappointment. Remember there was that undefeated. So like they weren't very good. They had that undefeated Patriots team that lost to the Giants 2007. I believe that first one That's copy. Only my good friends copy only once described me as one of the most painful moments of his life. And what comes out, and it's a very nuanced piece of work in a very nuanced piece of reporting, But what comes out Is a picture of an organization that certainly had all these guys. Many of these guys who respected the hell out of Bella check But we're in all of Tom Brady it off Tom Brady, Shawn Springs, the defensive back who was a D B. I think shortly after maybe when the trial was there at a great story about when he left Washington he had to choose in the Saints in New England. And when he was training in Arizona, um and had a fight to New England for a free agency visit. Sean Payton was on the flight, and Peyton was trying to talk him into the same talking about the same. Don't need to go. Don't fly to Boston baby come out of the road. I'll get your age on the phone right now makes me like Sean Payton. What a salesman. And, ironically, for Shawn Springs Saints won the Civil that year B to B Peyton Manning, Drew Brees outduel Peyton Manning in that in that Super Bowl. But the key part about this. It's a funny anecdote is Sean Spring, saying, I'm going to read this to you because it reflects the entirety of the story. Quote, but I was going to play with Tom. I knew he was coming off a knee injury, but there's like a 50 50 chance. You're going to go to the Super Bowl playing with Tom Brady, right? And that I think is one of the great Don't even if it's unappreciated, it's just he's so luminary. It is hard to fathom his his greatness at the risk of sounding remarkably blasphemous, and I apologize. Lord for for this is a believing practicing Catholic. But Any of the mysteries of the universe that you really try to comprehend, right that you really try to think through, not reject or accept just immediately. You want to think through you try to think about a belief in and I have one in a higher power in God. That is a mind boggling thing. That whatever you wherever you come down, you know it's hard to get your mind around. If you try to think about the beginning of the universe I did this The other night was my son. Henry was asking all these questions really deep questions. You know where to the Big Bang Come from. Where did God come from? But there's not a God. Where did the first energy where the first It's hard to get your mind around that if you try to think about the depth of the human soul, right and just like what it means to be alive, It's hard to get your mind around that, if like me, you joke because deep down, you're really scared off of parallel universes and alien life. It's hard to get your mind around that and not to be, too over the top. I can't get my brain around Tom Brady and his greatness and his reign and his impact and how one guy attracts random defensive backs and turns them into winners and goes to bruise. I'm gonna complain about the media Arians and makes in this classy near champion. It's amazing. It's blowing my mind. I'm not good at physics, right? I'm into God. But I struggle with theology. I feel like I know Sports, and Brady is scrambling my brain and the brains of these poor dudes Who were there who were in New England who saw the magic who are attracted to it and who weren't quite able to finish the deal. And what's amazing the magical in a normal world. Those guys would've played for a great QB. It didn't work out so well. Who foresaw that Brady was going to reinvent himself and maybe push back in a way that in the end was a deal breaker against Bill Belichick, Stranger away and fashioned for himself a championship legacy beyond what should have happened. I don't think it's unreasonable reading this story and trying to again understand one of the mysteries of the universe. Tom Brady and his accident My belly. That time. Griffin, not Tom Brady fan. The face Andrew Bogus makes when I say nice things about Tom Brady, which is the same face Andrew Bogus makes and I just talked about basically anything. It's a It's a pain face. I share that. Drew. I'm with you. I get it, but his greatness is incredible. Here's what Here's What did he mean? Here's what? Striking me. Right. He went to a bucks team that had forget Super Bowl success in a long time. Haven't had success of any kind in a long time. And you know, he turned, he turned into excellence. Is it possible that maybe there's actually three phases of New England? Phase One is the remarkable early success. The Belichick Brady combination Phase two is Bill Belichick in the game, passing him by a little bit and success get into his head. Ah, little bit the Patriots way grinding people down a little bit, and they're not being success. In Phase three that we didn't understand. Maybe we don't fully get our mind and arms around it. Yet. Phase three is Tom Brady for a big chunk of time taking what should have been a failed New England reality. Curdle Patriots way and making in a winner through his own excellence. While Belichick got the credit year after year after year until he couldn't take it and just decide to go to Tampa Bay. That to me is the big takeaway. Is it Brady or Belichick? I think it depends on the era. I think In the beginning it was Belichick and then Brady. I think in that second era that drought that's a That's ability a problem, And I think that third act we know now Tom Brady is the person who put the Patriots way on his shoulders and maybe carried it to planet to two did not deserve 855 to 1 to four..

"Two undefeated. Nationally ranked teams were also taking your questions for coach Fickle at 513749 7000 or Toll free 1 800 Big one or pounds 700 ON A T and T. Let's go to Tim in Maysville. Hi, Tim. You're on with Coach Fickle guys. Thanks for taking my call. Courage. Glad you stated, you see, is really happy. These program continue to build that there. I begged him. Ah, fun question who you take if you can pick Shawn Springs, Orangutan Winfield. Well, do they have to attack or just cover? Which one are they do both Because they were going to cover I take Shawn. And if you're going to blitz them, or they had to tackle that I would take Antoine Winfield, probably above anybody else. Okay, I'll be with you on that one. My question. Isn't it kind of goes back. How much of your philosophy did you take from Fred Pockets when you was at Ohio State and how much they form some of your defense of lot fees today. Well, I would say a lot, but I would say more that than anything. I'm in the coaching professional lot because of Coach Bug. He said something to me one time. I think at a young age because I never had any idea. He never had the thoughts of coaching. I just was not something that I had thought about. I was had all these other ideas I was gonna you know, go to med school, Be a doctor that all these different things and He told me one time you said I don't want to feel like I've ever gone to work. I love what I do. Um and that always stuck with me And he did. I mean, he was a guy that had incredible energy always loved what he did. Was was very aggressive, so the philosophies of being aggressive. A lot of those things I would say comes a lot from him. But just in general, being a coach and getting into this coaching profession because the energy that he had the fun and the excitement that he had when he said that to me it was something that stuck with me. Okay. Appreciate your Ah, your input, And I wish you the best luck Direct the year. Thanks to appreciate it, Tim. Thanks for the call. So the follow up is Do you feel like you've never gone to work? Well, the last thing that until it's filled mental this year 20 21st time You feel like home my goodness, and it's not like you're going to work. It's your waiting for results. The sea whether you're allowed to continue Goto work, so no it when you're dealing with 18 20 words in the fun and the excitement that you have the people that you're around it. That's what makes it so exciting. That's so much fun. Remember when I first started, my wife says, How could you be working for 14 hours and come home and smile and be happy and I'm like Just like coach books. I don't I wasn't working. I was having fun with a lot of guys I enjoy to be around the probably the greatest thing that I've had an opportunity to do. And that's play the game and coach the game. Love what you do, and you'll never work a day the rest of your life. Let's go to Janet in blue Ash. Hello, Janet. You're on with coach people, everybody. I have a quick question for the coach. I've been going to UC games our family has for 50 years, So we know a lot about you see football, But one of the questions I have is, I noticed that Frequently when last year in particular, and I've seen that this year on TV when the bear cats need a yard or two headed like Using like a power forward type of thing. That quarterback tosses about the ball back, and then the back move forward after being back about three yards and I was wondering what the rationale is on that type of place. That's a good question. I almost I asked the same question. I don't remember the bear cats don't it as much, but I saw it this Friday this past Friday night in a in a high school football game on on third and one Where they tried to toss instead of trying to run that thing down till I think I feel exactly in the way you feel I don't always call the plays offensively, but if I were to call the place, we would be going downhill. We might be under center and handed it to a full back. But right now, that's what I was. Yeah, it seems like it's been tossed back. I've seen it on TV, another football games that I've watched other teams, you know, type of thing, and I never understood what What's the reasoning behind was it seems like you would just want it. Kind of gather it towards you know, Abby back. He has to be in the back, You know, type of thing, But I'm with you. Power drive. Yeah, that's that's if you feel like you can overpower him, then that's what you do. But sometimes deep down inside, you don't feel like you can overpower him. So you gotta trick him so You know, you got to know what what your strengths are on go with him, so hopefully we'll be running the thing downhill. I also too. I want forward to seeing.

"And maybe it was just a year to year thing, because the same exact stuff can kind of be set of ST. Who you know, has a similar Similar records. Similar trajectory in pretty much Every every other year, right? They just flip depending on who's Homer. Who's away? So then? You know, Penn State even last year, you know that they were ableto go out there and And beat Michigan the way they were. They went on the road in Minnesota is good as Minnesota ended up proving itself to be it was still inexplicable. That state couldn't come away with a win in that game. But Theyjust let Tanner Morgan Absolutely dominate them. So It is part of That mental fortitude is something that's been missing and those types of mistakes are the things that you don't see. Ohio State. Or Clemson, and most years you don't see Alabama making and that's the thing that needs to get short up. Because you just don't see those dumb penalties. Dumb plays. Inexplicable turnovers. Those are the things you don't see the best of the best teams. D'oh. And I think if you can get rid of those that would really changed the Uh, just where Michigan would be, but you got it. You got to figure out a way to not have those types of things happening, James. Yeah, I think you hit it on the head there. That's that's a big part of it. I think part of human nature, You know, they're in your head you press They're aggressive If they expect things to go their way it makesem competent and year after year. It's another brick. That way. I've seen it. I saw it the other way. You know, back in AA, you know, the mid nineties. You know, Michigan that Shawn Springs and slept next thing you know, Michigan make the play in Ohio State tightens up so Being able to reverse that I would ask you one more thing about recruiting with the big news today about the linebacker from Florida committing, I think they're up to 21. I guess he quit. I'll give you a couple of multiple questions here that you could hit on any of them. That you want. How many will they go up to? And you know, you mentioned the Omari guy? Tell me a little bit more about him. Donovan Edwards is there. Ah, timeline. Is there a feeling I I was looking at a list there, and I saw that Georgia and Oklahoma and Michigan State were on his list. Now I'll go ahead and cross out. Miss. You could stay the way Oklahoma started this season. I'm gonna cross them out. And now I feel like rooting for Alabama over Georgia. I don't know if that's the right way to do it or not. You could tell me about that. And the last thing I say, is with this being a free roll with scholarships for the players. How is this working out? Where a CZ Michigan Do they have Teo Really watch. How many scholarships can they go over It? Are people taking advantage. I mean, is there a way to take advantage of this? If you have the money, and you want to Oh, and you want to pay for the scholarship, You know, being able to go over the limit because of this particular year? I mean, how does all that work it out in your eyes? A star is the last thing I believe the way I could be wrong, But I'm pretty sure I read that he hadn't got delays, essentially said that You know any any players that holdover from this scenario aren't going because this is a three year like you said that.

"So, you know, I think it all comes back to it'll come back to the running game eventually my, but I think we're all in Namur d- with the numbers that these quarterbacks are putting up on on a yearly basis at this point had a ruse Amee for photos office guys this Mike Corbin, I'm sitting in for rich Eisen on the rich Eisen show. And I'm speaking with NFL hall of Famer Eddie, George and Eddie, Shan with us about how beautiful that draft was in his hometown, Nashville, Tennessee, but you also are in Ohio State Buckeye your Buckeye through in through you know, I love I love when I'm in that area where we go down and Ken for four the hall of fame. And and and I was with Chris Carter, and we were in the restroom using arrest. Room at the time. And there were all bunch of men, and all you gotta do is. Just your oh eight everybody in about heels it right? I mean, we're all sitting. Earner in is still yelling. I oh. That just tripped me out that was funny to me. But let me ask this Eddie as you watch your quarterback from Ohio State way asking gets passed up by the New York Giants. What were your thoughts on that? And what are your thoughts on what he could do in Washington? I saw I I was shocked. I I mean, I know Colin Murray was you know, you gotta pick up a lot of minimum toward the the beginning of the draft. Seems they'll go number one. So I wasn't a shop is that. But when you're passed on the wane Haskins, I was I was really perplexed by the fire behind the fact that here's a kid. The the most prolific passer in our schools history in the big tent history. Fifty touchdown only eight interceptions against elite competition weekend and week out. We've seen what he can do. I was really shocked at the giants pass up on. But when the with the rescue pick them up and his response was the messed up now, he's hungry. The show the world where he can do. I felt that he was slide in the Heisman in terms of votes. I think the right guy wanted, but I think he deserves more love I felt like he got slided during the draft process as well. You know, so. So I think he's gonna come in hungry. He's gonna come in focus. He's a strong family support his Shawn springs. His mentor of the cornerback from Ohio State who was with him during his high school years. So he has a strong pedigree when it comes to football knowledge and the kid doesn't get in trouble. So for him to come in with a chip on his shoulder. Now, Michael is he gonna set the legal and fire. You get the right weapons around this kid. I think he's gonna it up. M people say this again here Michael sitting in for the rich Eisen show sitting in for my man, rich Eisen and talking to Eddie, and I call eight in hall of Famer, and I said, he's all the fame on and off the football field. I know he's not in the hall of fame. So I got people hitting me on Twitter and stuff so migrated out. But I know raise going, no, I'm saying, I'm prophetically speaking this thing into existence. We all know that you are hall of Famer. That's why even ask the question about the value of the running back position. Do you feel in any way that way we see running backs now hurt guys like you in your opportunities of getting in the hall of fame? I think we lost Eddie. Oh, man. That's what I wanted to hear that. Because that's a great question to find out to ask. Right. Because I want is the way we see the way we see running backs now hurting his opportunity to get in the hall of fame. 'cause Eddie of you guys you ask the right kind of guys guys. Like Ray Lewis guys that went a guest him that are in the hall. I'm at the hole every year..

Some you watch his show very closely. If you're watching on CBS sports network, we always shoot behind the glass, and you look at the TI. There is a new dude dude is not Bruce Willis, I wish it were a big Bruce Willis got you know, that. Get together. The fact of the matter is my man Robert is moving on. And there is a new dude. And it's not Bruce Willis. So I will get a little bit later on since you clones already there or has promised. We are joined right now by a man with an amazing resume, but at the Super Bowl he did request that he simply be introduced as the man who will forever. Have the title of first cast on the CBS sports network jungle simulcast on top of that. He has NFL insider for CBS, sports and CBS sports dot com. He appears every Sunday on the NFL today on CBS. He is host of be more opinionated podcast. He of course is Jason lockenfora. Jason what's up? Are. You going buddy? Is you know, that was the pinnacle, and it's all downhill since Barrett's was at my man. I appreciate it. We always will no matter what they do. They can't they cannot. They cannot dad cold hands. Don't do. All right. Chelsea the draft is finally over. So say quick look back. Was there ever any doubt in your mind that was going to take Kyla Murray within pick overall? No there wasn't. And I'm hardly alone in in in that reporting. And in that conclusion, it was the worst kept secret in the NFL. It wasn't a kept secret. It was obvious. It was overt. They can talk about a process all they want. This was the guy was cast on this with the hiring of cliff Kingsbury. And it was punctuated with you know, Tyler Murray not. Coming in at five eighth and a smidge or whatever from the combine on. I don't know how many columns I wrote about this. But it was certainly more than four and maybe less than ten, but it was quite a few. Murray was going to the cardinals. Dan Schneider was infatuated by Dwayne Haskins and whether through trading up or whatever that was his guy. Dave Dave Gettleman was in love with Daniel Jones. He he said it himself since the senior bowl that was pretty widely known. Andrew off was the apple of John Elway as I it was just a matter of trade off the middle eight first round to get them or not and all of that held true. Jason lockenfora joining us. All right. So what about Josh Rosen? What do you make of the trade the dolphins made to acquire him? I love it whether it works or not if you're an organization like this that is clearly look taking the long view and is about. At that, procurement and player development, and and finding value getting the tenth overall pick twelve months later for pick sixty two strikes me as value and picking up an extra two in the process through the trade down with the saints supreme value. I don't know about the nucleus around him this year. And I think he's gonna take your lumps again. But they'll get to know him as a person they'll see his practice habits. They'll see how he picks up this system. I think we'll pick it up pretty quickly. And they'll be able to decide if he is worth cultivating the long-term face of the franchise, and it's not gonna be able to trade a twenty three year old. Josh Rosen for a mid round pick at least. And you're probably only going to win four to six games with him. Anyway. So you'll be in position that might be high. You'll be in position to take a quarterback next year. And if by chance this kid is a player. Then think about next year if it is a four or five quarterback draft. And if it is too and Herbert up top, and you have one of those picks, and you can trade out of it for king's ransom. After getting your guy at sixty two. I will sign up for that eight days a week give me that all day long. They get a real blue Chipper and Wilkins at thirteen. I like what they're doing. If Stephen Ross can leave you guys alone and commit to losing for a couple of years. They could be the next Cleveland Browns say in twenty twenty one where you turn the corner. And when you finally turn it brother, you're not looking back. Now, it's not saying Jason I can't believe that I'm about to say this. But I like what the dolphins are doing. I like it a lot Jason lockenfora my guest now back in two thousand fifteen a sports writer wrote a piece on Washington's quarterback situation and made the predation jail. See Robert Griffin. Workout right? There would be drafting another quarterback within five years. You know, where I'm going with this who was that sports writer that would Dwayne Haski. Right. And he was writing for the bullet school paper there a prep school in the DC area. And chances are that made that made its way to Dan Snyder because he had kids at the school at the same time, Dwayne Haskins mentors a buddy of mine. Shawn springs. Former all pro corner who played for the Redskins and who mentored Haskins and sort of help guide him from where he was in New Jersey playing again. Kinda lesser talent to getting him to the DMV as we call. I guess I need to explain the district Maryland in Virginia the DMV is we call in this area to go up against some some defensive backs who would be playing on Sundays one day. So yeah. Th this Dwayne Haskins was not a mystery to dance night or Bruce Allen. And when you're talking about macro level Washington Redskins decisions like that. Those are the only two names that really matter. So what do you make of that fit for him? And for the team. I mean, I love it. I I also liked that young man. A little fearful because you know, we can take it back to you know, he's Schuler or however far you want to go back. You know history has not been kind to Washington Redskins quarterbacks, you know, at least the last twenty odd years, and no one has really been able to become that ten year face of the franchise guy. You know, even cousins all the money, they paid them. He he started there for two or three years, and then he's gone. So hopefully, they can build an infrastructure around him. I really liked their draft. If people don't metal and leave some things alone. I think they have the ability of their front seven stays healthy to be Beasley on that side of the ball, and they should be able to run the football little bit. And hopefully doesn't have to do too much too soon. But the get him at fifteen fifty touchdowns eight interceptions playing against the best college teams in the land. I again, I think the kid has a real chance to be stuck. Some me up for that. Jason lockenfora joining us for another moment or so Jason on Thursday, a TV station in Kansas City released audio reportedly of a conversation between tyreek hill and his fiancee includes a conversation about hill, allegedly hitting their three year old son he'll making a threat to his fiancee. What do you make of how the team has handled this, and what do you expect the league to do when it comes to hill? I'm reading a calm on it. Actually right now. The Kansas City Chiefs a domestic violence problem. And I shouldn't say the Kansas City Chiefs. It's the owner Clark hunt because you can go back to December first twenty twelve when when Giovane belts your kills his girlfriend Cassandra Perkins age twenty two then goes facility kneels behind a car blows his brains out from that point on the Kansas City. Chiefs have continually had an open door policy for individuals with history of abuse right up through the decision last Friday to have a press conference welcoming Frank Clark who was arrested for domestic violence in college and kicked off his team. Within hours of the that Cape. You're just you're just referencing coming out regarding hill player they drafted despite him being kicked off his college team and arrested for assault. When at that time, his girlfriend was pregnant. According to police he points during the face punch in the stomach and choked her, and he was sick. So. What do I expect the chiefs to do? He playing man footballs in hey, somebody in next year's draft. And he's got a history of abuse. But we think there's value in the fifth round come on down. I mean, that's what they're action show me. That's who they are. That's what on is. You can't say Kansas City Chiefs. Because a lot of things have changed. The last seven years, the constant is the owner coaches different personnel. People those individuals with those sorts of records don't get an NFL buildings unless owner sign off on it. They don't get cut unless owners sign off on it. They don't get one hundred and three million dollars in free agency, unless the owner signs off on it. So what do I expect them to do? I guess keep doing what they're doing. In the meantime, at some point this week, he'll probably end up on the Commissioner's example list. What the fact that it got to this point? I mean to me it's quite telling. Jason lockenfora is an NFL insider, four CBS, sports and CBS sports dot com. I concur, by the way. He also appears every Sunday on the NFL today on CBS. He is host of be more opinionated podcast. Jason lockenfora GMC. Appreciate you very much. You too. Jason lockenfora. I can't dispute anything. He just said, right? We talked about this last Friday. One eight hundred six three six eight six eight six you simply cannot give them a pass for bringing this guy in. They knew who they were getting they knew what he didn't college. They knew what he did to his then pregnant girlfriend cannot be surprised at all at all. Right. When we come back, and if you want to respond go ahead get yourself in the rotation. One eight hundred six three six eight six eight six gave yourself in a few minutes because I've got Ben golfer.

"Over geo show G out sick today. The draft day for round tonight from Nashville as we continue to go through that will take your calls all morning, Mitch Yankees as well one thing, and we were just talking a little bit in the break. Just quickly on the tyreek hill thing with Kansas City menaces again, the details are sketchy other than we know that something happened to their three year old him and his fiancee that is and the three year old broke on. Right. So I had his arm broken. Now, the prosecuting attorney or the district attorney, whatever it was came out and said that they do believe a crime was committed, but they can't get all the evidence to support it enough to where they would without a doubt be able to convict the one thing. You don't like I don't know how you're supposed to answer this question. But did you see Andy Reed's comments, quote were full steam ahead? I'm not here to judge them here to coach how about just no comment. I don't know. I don't that reads bad when you got a kid that's hurt. And what's going on? They believe something happened. And just say that my initial reaction is to exploded this because it's just so frustrating and because tyreek hill does have a significant past of domestic violence with his current fiance. He was warned he that's why he fell in the draft because of his off the field problems that he had in college. Everybody thought that he had turned it around and everything else. And now all of a sudden this comes and the police had been called to their house twice. How many times the policeman call the house? They haven't been many times the policeman called your house zero. I've called nine one one though when other people, and I see things you when people don't put their garbage way or recycling. I know about you know, never I mean, so this is like been an issue between these couple has fiancee's in him, and they have a three year old. It's children raising a child, and I know that I think child welfare services are involved out there in the county out in Missouri. Now the NFL's going to do their investigation. Now, the NFL has a different set of standards again. And we're gonna find out about those standards. I'm sure Lisa Friel. Who's the, you know, we'll be the lead investigator for the NFL. We'll go in there and try to find out as much information as they possibly can if they find that tyreek hill is not truthful to them. They can go pretty heavily on a suspension or with think that a lot of child advocacy advocates out. There are going to. We're gonna wanna power Fleischer. They are they are. And this kid is basically teetering on either leave losing his entire career. It's close has to be there can't be there's no they can't be an understanding. You know, the police are called twice to the house the young man, the kid, the three has a broken arm. The DA says we believe a crime is committed. But we can't get the two witnesses to turn on each other. Why because they're protecting his contract for sure. And from their standpoint, you understand that remember the NFL does not have the same the same standard of evidence here or proof as a quarter of law does and they can come down pretty heavy on him. And if he says anything to them in their investigation that could be used against him and his fiancee in the court of law out in out in Missouri. And that's why the court out there is basically saying look this case is not closed. They said it's not they will be invisible formation that comes along. Then we'll use that information to our best ability. But yeah, it was. That was a sad sense. I don't know why you just wouldn't charge both of them. And then see what happens. See if one of them roles on the other to save themselves. I've watched law and order, I guess, I don't know. I just it just doesn't seem right to me. Here is adamant Selden. I this hour on the fan and CBS sports network, boomer and geo it's up Adam from this studio my home. The NFL draft tonight so excited for the day. Yeah. It's like. Okay. We got the window thriller. Later on my on my lawn mower. And if I got time, I might show much no with, but anyway, joking aside, all you hear the topic. Yup. Jets. Given the current Roger situation swimming, all three players equal on paper. They're all going to be pro bowlers top at their position. Who do you take based on position alone? Given that we're going to run a three flow at Greg. And I so here's the deal. Greg Williams won't we'll have a guy a player in mind that he'll go to Mike macaques. Look, if if you asked me, which I would want this is who I would want obviously all reports or pointing to at all which is fine with me, by the way. I mean because I think that kids junkyard dog. He was one of the top picks starting the college football season. And did not do anything to take away was performance on a field. Did not do anything to take away from a very high draft pick being worthy of that. But I by personally believe that Quinn and Williams is the best player. I don't necessarily know that they feel like they want him in three or four configuration. I don't know what these play end or whatever. But Mike mcalinden string of having. Maybe the best player in the draft falling to them could continue to happen for them. But I also know that they need players, and they they would like to recapture some of the draft capital that they use last year to get Sam. So they they will look they're going to they're going to try to trade out whether or not they can find the right partner or feel like there's going to be a guy there when they do select that will be an impact player for them. If they have to go all the way to nine ten or twelve only time will tell but I I would hope that they come out of this with either Alan Quinton Williams or at Oliver. That's how I feel. Let me ask you Haskins Hoskins Haskins Hoskins go, which one comes to mind. I task ins Haskins, Dave and Florida next up with boomer and Jerry on the fan and CBS sports network. What's up, Dave? Hey, guys, always big fan. That's the first time call, but I just kind of curious about this so much hype on Atkins all the time when you look at the history of Ohio State quarterback and urban Meyer's list of quarterbacks to come up with the name of Alex Smith, and Bobby holier over the last thirty years here, though, I mean why? Why not put a little bit more investment in the research? The mother quarterback they can get deepened around of like bringing or maybe like a Brent Rippin who has a pedigree, or you know, garner Menchu out of the way. Look there may be a guy out there. I don't know. I, you know, you just never know. This whole thing's a crap shoot, you know, that I know that everybody in follows the NFL draft realizes that for me when I see on film, and the performance that I saw from Haskins is the hype around him that I created back in on January second grease worth. It is worth it. Absolutely worth it. And make no mistake boomer created the hype because I know whole lot about this kid until you came in that day and when all in on Dwayne Haskins. Honestly, I mean, you watch highlights here and there, but not put it this way before you came in that day. I never in a million years thought top five pick until you went all in on this not we did this the other day because of the amount of time. I spend on the NFL on Sundays. I spend very little time on college football. I don't know from. Time to time. I'll sit down and watch a game. I'm not spending twelve hours on a Saturday. Like Eddie does. And so have you heard of them short? Did you know a lot about him? No. I really didn't. And then you were all in on him. You start looking good player. Okay. But top five pick that morning you came in. No, I also read a lot of the comments from the people around him is high school football coach is high school principal. His Shawn springs his mentor, the people at Ohio State urban Meyer. I talked to him. Personally, you read about what is he made say about him. So all of that stuff is really key. Yeah. Is he pudgy? Okay. Yeah. Is he slow foot maybe a little bit? I got saquon Barkley in the backfield. He's got the feet the run with it. That's in this quarterback has basically been again, I say this. And the reason I say it this way is because this was the mindset that he has he's been playing seven on seven football year round since he was eight or nine years old. So in seven on seven football. What do you do? You don't run with the football. You stand back. There you read coverages and you try to put the ball where the defender isn't. And where you're wide receiver tight end running back and make a play for you. And that's all this kid has been doing for the last twelve years was groomed for bright. So when you watch them on film, what you see is a a very fundamentally sound. On football player who does all has all the characteristics of a big strong armed well oiled quarterback that stands in the pocket. And I would say probably thirty of the thirty two teams in the NFL like the play football that way. And that's the best way to play football. And I think that that's why this kid I believe does have all the characteristics of what I think is going to be great NFL quarterback. One more before the break. You've been hold on a while. Mike in Brooklyn. What's up? Yeah. Monning dies money. I want to say something about the morning until they say like the show this show on WFAN or something, but they should say something more positive like the most efficient or most incisive like that. That's what I'm talking about. Mike make it more positive grief. Fifteen minutes most efficient like that. I went to the Mets game yesterday with my son. Oh, man when that guy hit that home run, my ninety year old grandmother could Iran around. It was sending a message Mike, you know, that look this thing. I like what the pitcher said though. Because in that sense. We don't really have to worry about anymore retribution. It might be over because they say, you know, he got me and he did. And you know, what you know, what I'm type of hits with soon is that run scores. The homerun goes everyone based stadium that was one of those things. So when he was pouring into some way up in the Senate. They will be okay. Let's go Philly louder than the men like it was in bad, not bad. But you don't have to three two three. It was six nothing. You understand the point of view a met fan? I would've left to we had our fifth starter on the mound. We're not thinking we're gonna win. Unfortunately, no, he did on his fault. But I will say this Vince Velazquez started for the Phillies. I would not have expected to get shut out last night. That would be the one thing that you don't like. And there's there's a bunch of articles released a couple that I saw and I find this comical, and maybe it will prove to be true that Jacob Rame woke up a sleeping giant by what he did to raise. It was one nothing in the eighth inning last night. And the Mets had chance after chance after chance to score sleeping giant was lying down all night until they had an opportunity late quickly..

"Science gotten Morocco. Warplane with the boys man, man. Dangerous so go and see it up three games to one. Blazers. Against that in a minute. But as promised which would right now by a quarterback from Ohio State and all American third in the Heisman voting little house to a big ten title. He led the nation with more than forty eight hundred passing yards and fifty touchdowns. He appears courtesy of old spices all new fresher collection, featuring five new body washes with real benefits forged by real ingredients. My guest is Dwayne Haskins. Dwayne great to have you on. How are you? Good. Good. Good good talking with draft prospects is I can't before the draft. And I kind of started off the same way your few days out from the draft. What is the entire process been like for you? And how eager to find out where you're going to live and where you're gonna work. Eager to find out where I wanna be you wouldn't be able to pull out, and you know, it's been a long process, but today's a blessing as looking forward to get over with. I see working. So we go back a little bit. There's this famous video view from eleven years ago when you're walking around Ohio State saying I'm going to go to college here. Now, a lot of young kids savings like that. But they don't have the chance to follow through. What do you think? Now when you see that video, and the fact you actually made it a reality crazy. Best. They can do things put them into this put the work into this. Biggest thing for me was a making sure that they possibly could to at least try to live the dream in the play Quebec unstated whether that was the the scholarship or even have to start as blessed to be able to to the university to Wayne Haskins joining us now, it's one thing to say you're going to go there, but you actually made a huge impact on the school as well. If you go back a little bit when you were being recruited the thinking was maybe go to Maryland. And then Randy Edsall was fired. The story goes in correct me if I'm wrong, you actually texted urban Meyer about visiting and his response was who is this is that how that went down. So tutor wanted to visit the school in the what was it? Thing say seven that's what he calls me. So. Back at seventy. Well, we have let's get to expand. Toady of activists were active Yoko visit visit campus elastic visit. So. Got started. So this thing was not easy. Now, you had to wait you had to learn. What was it like when you first got on campus was what you thought it would be what was that process? Like. It was a lot of fun. Definitely be able to be with classmates would be able to today spurious college for the first time going to class limited the dorms at a grateful spirits. Don't ever forget the had -able. We're talking to Wayne Haskins get right to the NFL draft. So you get your shot this season. And all you're doing your first year as a starter is one school record after another one conference record after another. So what's it like when you see that? You're breaking ten passing records set by guys like drew Brees crazy of those records presented for twenty years though. So for me, the biggest thing was that this take one game at a time and just keep playing visible that I can prepare the best that I could reach team that those records fought out of the way they did was put in all season ready for that first year starting a lot of fun to be able to do that twin Haskins my guest, excuse me. I was gonna say you put the time in your prepared. However, it's you never really know. Exactly where it's going to be like when you're under that microscope, and you have that kind of. Scrutiny. You did all of that in your first year as a starter? But you held out like a pro given all the attention and all the scrutiny. There was placed on you. It looked like it didn't bother you at all how able to deal with all of that. So well. Football at the day the game. So for me to be able to realize that play the sport because I love it. It's bigger than just a winter a loss or for me to throw a touchdown or enter sensitive. I had to have fun with the most importantly, so, you know, of course, have all the conversation to be stated all the other cave with that story this trying to find half what with that as a day. So that's what I did was a great great experience for be advised me at all to be under the away was because I just wanted to people are there. Watching to Wayne Haskins is my guest, he's gateway for the NFL draft and working with all the spice, which I'll get to in a minute. The combine you said quote Dwayne I knew before the season. I had the talent to play in the NFL. I know I'm a franchise quarterback in quote. I respect the attitude a lot. So what is it that you've seen and experienced the let you know that you are. In fact, a franchise quarterback. Being able to be around NFO guys of trading with bombs new place for the falcons and Watson. And just guys like that. And I knew that I was capable of play NFL. Because guys our I was working with Philip can compete with them. And and be save be just good about better as that was working out with so biggest from us. Do what I could do on the field is okay might tell the best buy abilities to make sure that have opportunity fell crazy, though broker records. To do the whole time. It was this crazy crazy thing for me to be able to speed position to even be traffic. Yes. He does what you do on the field. And this what you off the field watching your breakdown film. It's actually really impressive. When did you first start breaking down film? And they have was that in making you who you are right now. I was about ten years old. And that's something that I enjoyed have prided from Boeing coverages civilian protections to know how to redefine this is something that has to be to be great after be settled at quarterback. If you don't know what to look at look pretty foolish and make sure that prepare for everything I could see on their field. So do do a lot of studying of the guys playing a lot of the type of caliber facie in the this bigger that I could see out there on the field. Talking twain Haskins for a few moments. You mentioned the NFL guys you worked with right now. But how legend Shawn springs who played in the league? His also played a role in your life. How did the two of you first meet? And then what was that like? Football campus this apparatus, I was there to support kid crazy to be that. I saw you saw that personally. But this off of mad at as like that. And you know, the biggest thing for me to be able to pick his brain audio everybody else. It was fun for me to be able to to meet him. He's done a great job to over the years getting getting to know him and what for? Football players asking him. How guys like how Brady where does he play with? It was cool to be able to have order. Great tweet last week, the tweet read simply don't over think it trust me. And quote, what's the message that you want people to take from that? And who was that directed towards whoever has doubts or second guesses by ability where I can do on the field and things of that nature of there today. Go through good in my good. Is that gonna be great quarterback? And it takes a lot for me to do that. But I've been with every level of played at and I know that a lot of work to do. But you know, gripping bovi is that I know that I want to work out of that wanna be better. I have a lot of stuff to get better. At it. A the biggest thing is I was going to give me opportunity that I'll give him the best to have a lot of football games. And the trust Dwayne Haskins my guest, and then you're not going to be in Nashville for the draw. But you are going to have a draft party. So what was the thinking behind that? And how eager are you? Or how much you looking forward to that party to behold, it gets you base thing is enjoying that time because you'll get drafted would. So looking forward to the opportunity. It's people that I love people that have been with throughout this process. That's gonna be great night. You cannot show up Jones row party smelling rank, you know, this. So. Spice in their new refresher collection. It's a brand new fresh collection. What do you like about the body washes? Great. I definitely like you say the greatest momentous ozone spice, you can get that at all. Growing up. Those all the time have all refresher collection. Like you say with a real benefits, greedy. It's like Bush rise shave butter, relax, lavender body washes. It able to be a part of such a great brand. It'd be Representative of the highest level of football is every opportunity for me. I'm looking forward. So use it going into the draft the rest of the season stay include. There you go. Tell me once again where can they pick it up if they want to? Get it at WalMart Dwayne Haskins form Ohio State quarterback at an American getting ready for the upcoming NFL draft Wayne very much on the show. Good luck with it. Talking to you. Well done. Got me little Mr. Rome at the end twin Haskins like his attitude a lot especially like, that's we don't over think. It don't over think it trust me. For him to have the one year that he had put up those numbers. And when I mentioned, the film study have you seen him breakdown film. It's really really impressive. One eight hundred six three six eight six eight six and then of course, the top draft all sorts of smoke signals in what is going to do are. They are they're not gonna take Murray or they get out of that spot of they're gonna keep that pick. Nobody really knows at this point. In fact, I stopped listening to that speculation a long time ago because you know, if somebody's talking if their lips are moving this time of year, they're probably lying. Everybody is playing poker this time of year. I mean, some of the speculation about Murray's first or is going to drop out of the first round. Okay. Gonna go. I always gonna go undrafted. One eight hundred six three six eight six eight six curious what you think when you hear that interview from Dwayne Haskins? But this guy is in at Levi pants seven tweets as a Michigan grad. I absolutely despise Ohio State. However, I can give nothing but respect to Wayne Haskins after he completely obliterated as last year. Some NFL team is going to get a great quarterback. a really good tweet or special week. But then again, he did obliterate you and your defense. So how can you show up with anything other than respect unless you're absolute bag? You're lucky. He didn't hang eighty on you.

And of course, Shawn springs was one of my mentors played for the Redskins is a solicited DNV area. So of course, being able to spend time over in the Redskins and beating Doug Williams. What would that be like as somebody who's from that area? It'd be it'd be fantastic going to go to high school in Maryland and be able to play for Washington Redskins close to home in the said to have a lot of my supporters in the area in a lot of the kids. Go to me to be able to go to manifold games. It'd be great not being able to go to Maryland definitely something that I took pride in going house eight represented the DNV area. So now that if I were able to get by the Redskins all deathly ill, make sure whole that whole that standard not doing one of your other mentors is defense. Gets wide receiver. Muhammad sue how did that happen? And what are you going for him? So MO was my youth. Coach at eight nine ten years old Tahu best firm homage abbey was not made and motives happened being high school, and he would he come after practice. He would coaches practices, and I've known MO for ten twelve twelve years now, and he's been a great guy as far as Megan..

"You're tuned to after four you kind of. Okay. You're not really sure what do you do with the quarterback? Well, if you're like she should go to the playoffs. And then then you jettison your quarterback that took you to the playoffs. And then you hand it to the young kid. But again like, that's why this combine is so important. And that's why the pro days will be so important, you really gotta get to know these kids, and you've got to find out whether or not you believe that you can handle billion dollar franchise to that quarterback to be your leader. No doubts. And that's where you have to excel in the meetings. You have to excel in all the different interviews that you go through and there are certain things physically that they want to see you do. And I and I'm telling you right now there's only one quarterback since the merger that started in NFL game. I believe that was five foot ten or shorter. Doug flutie? That's right and Murray fits in that category. It just doesn't happen. Going back to what you're talking about. The combine though, isn't it really more all? These guys have great skills. I mean, we got this. Af they've got great talent more the leadership though in the head game more so than anything. I mean, honestly, you could go back and find first round talent that just implemented. But this is why I liked Wayne Haskins. I really believe that this kid thinks he belongs in the NFL who your point though, they have to get to know if he can lead a team and see the physical attributes we see the stats, I do it. But I read all about his past coaches and everything else and what they're saying different than anybody else. They can strike really read it, and you really hear it. I'm just telling you what I hear is a guy that loves the spread the ball around. That's highly accurate that is not overwhelmed, and he believes that he's going to be great. All right. So then there's the question does Odell Beckham junior help or hurt a Dwayne Haskins. He could hurt him. Let's go to Dan Eaton down. Dan. What's happening? Oh my gosh. Hey, I can't believe I got through. I've never called any radio show. So this is the first for me. I I a lifelong fan. Okay. And. Dislike you so much. So much the point where I couldn't listen to you just because of my, you know. Immature hatred. About a year ago? I decided to give you a chance. Jio star. So I sat you is. Not there today. And then all of a sudden my gosh, you know, like I would avoid NFL today. Just because you, thanks. I appreciate that. You would watch because the coach cower I could see that. All of a sudden now is your later. And and I like I said I've never called anyone anywhere. But I want to call them. My gosh, you you're the man I enjoy all of your opinions you're spot on with most stuff. Can't turn. You. The Phil Simms yet. I grew up. I'm stealing New Jersey. So I grew up wattage. I can't watch him yet. I'm not that mature yet. Oh, yeah. It's hard. It's hard to deal with them. I know. Anyway. So I just wanted to say thank you, you take my ride to work every day. Very well all Europeans are are strong. And and and you spot on most of the time. And when it's not it's just opinion difference. I appreciate that. Very nice. I'm glad you're maturing. You know, what he's talking about two one for me Phil Simms. Like one of the worst days of my life. Why? Because I hated the man growing cowboy fan such a lovely guy. He really is. He's. This is one of the nicest guys. And Phil just not screw Phil Simms. Phil Simms might be one of the nicest men I've ever met in this business. I mean, you can't I know you can't stand them internally. But he is you tell me a little bit. I can't. Dan simms. You had enough of him on understand something. I got the whole contract for CBS sports network. There'd be put on TV and everything. And in the contract that says I have to have a picture Phil Simms over my shoulder. Do nothing. But he's just I understand the caller's point. He used to look at you. And here, you know, Kyle Simms. I'd be like oh, God this number eleven. Oh. And then you meet them. And it's like, no, I don't wanna like you had such a nice, man. He had such an uncool face to limb. He's a quarterback is better than the Jim Plunkett one. Didn't he didn't Plunkett where the one bar or no thighs men were the one bar that was a horrendous. Horrendous helmet was a horrendous. Look. Yeah. Horrendous he was another one too met him at the Super Bowl a couple of times. I can't ditties such a another nice guy. All right. I'm a little annoyed. This stiff white thing. Let's go Chris in new Rochelle quickly. Chris what he got Bouma. Why not? Because he just as immobile as. Let's take Murray. The right now, we have no offensive line might not have a like number here. But Chris Cameron or he doesn't run. It's two different. He lies not capable limit. I'm telling you just go back and watch the tapes Dwayne Haskins he can run he runs if he has to he's not gonna run. Lamar jackson. He's not gonna run like Mitch Trubisky is not gonna run like that. He's gonna stand in a pocket, and he's highly accurate, and he's not going to be overwhelmed. That's that's two of the attributes. Right. Do just because he doesn't doesn't mean. He can't he's twenty one years old. I'm sure he can run and he's big he's strong allies. Ancient he's not physically capable of Ron Chris just try not to be so negative. I mean, I I'm. Look at the tapes of heritable of Dwayne Haskins. Okay. So I look at the tapes. I looked at throws. I see left hash Mark right sideline right on the money. I see a guy that can roll out put the ball right on the money. And then on top of that. I start reading about, you know, the character assessment coming from his headmaster at the bolles school down there and Potomac I listened about from his coach I listen about from Shawn springs. The former Ohio State star who ended up getting him down two boys. I listened to the coaches talking about him at Ohio State. I mean, everybody is all in on this kid from a character standpoint. Right. All we always worried about that. Yes. So everybody's all in on. This get all of his coaches all the people around him, and that's kind of the due diligence that you have to do if you're thinking about you're going to go draft this kid. And then I watched the physical attributes of how he holds the ball all of his ball of is what I would call the fundamentals applying quarterback, everything looks great. So now, what am I gonna look for the one? Tenth of his game. That I don't like is that is that really what I'm gonna do here. I'm gonna try to figure out. Why reasons why people do that because you can't be wrong as you said if you miss on the quarterback it sets you back ninety nine teams, and look there's there littered year and year in year their teams at just the right guy, get it. But you know, I don't know. I felt like the same thing about Josh Allen last year. You know, I was all in on Josh Allen from Wyoming all in on him. You know, I thought that kid was got our or for an arm, and he's an unbelievable athlete, but he was raw and he was on tested, and he had to learn the NFL game and to be fair the book still has to be written. Sure. But at the end of the day just like Sam darnold late in the year. You can see that the light started to go on that. They started to believe that they belong there were there were you know, whatever the indecision was going into the season. And while they were playing during the early part of the season you could see that dissipate as the season went on. They didn't get worse. They got better and him sitting as he said was also a big. Thing for him in the middle because it kind of. Josh Allen because he got hurt as well. Right. So we'll find out seven twenty on the fan. CBS sports..

"Live from the studio. It is former G lot fan across the country on CBS sports network. Purry twain Haskins and forced Nick close as the defensive lineman from Ohio State are all going to be for -ticipant. According to latest reports for the NFL combines the NFL combine will be February twenty six March four now that's interesting because Kyle Murray spring training starts for the as I think February fifteenth now if he doesn't show up for that. Does he four fifty four point six million dollar bonus that be as gave him when they drafted? I believe that is the case. Yes, if he does not report their spring training than that money is gone. And that means he's going to be going to the NFL, and he's going to try to make up that money as a first round pick because he'll get a lot more that route right away. And it's good news Ed Haskins and here both participating as of right now. And the combine because there will give the NFL scouts say a real firsthand. Look as to what they can do, and what kind of people they are what their backgrounds all about whether or not they love football. Or, you know, this is something that, you know, just kind of a passing fad for them. Although I think both kids seem to have the personality that they want to be the man, and especially Haskins, you know, I just feel like he's a kid that just is ready to go. I he just wants to leave Ohio State, and he wants to get into the NFL because that's where he belongs. I feel strongly that he could be perfect for the giants showing grow up here. Shawn springs, basically got him to go down to. I guess school outside of Washington DC and football dairy, ends up going to Ohio State, probably due in large part to Shawn springs, helping him, and you know, kind of directing him towards Ohio State, and Sean is basically said nothing, but great things about the kids. So going into the compound, I think there are high hopes for him. And hopefully, he lives up to what I believe is going to be a high first round pick, and maybe even higher than number six if somebody falls in love with him much like the guys fell in love with Jared Goff. And Carson Wentz. Nobody really knew much about those two guys all of bought that they were going to be first round picks. But who knew that the Rams and the eagles were going to be so nervous about getting a quarterback that they would trade up to the first and second picks in the draft in that draft to go. Get those two guys. Dave Gettleman did not like the quarterbacks enough last year to take one of those guys number two ended up going saquon Barkley, you know, he's coming over all the tape but twain Atkins, but if he does not have a favorable opinion of Dwayne asking if he's not gonna take a at six or trade up to get him. He's not gonna take a quarterback for the sake of taking a quarterback. He told us that marked by words this kid completed seventy percent of his passes through for forty eight hundred yards. Fifty four touchdowns and only eight interceptions his yards per attempt for nine point two. And he sits in the pocket and throws the football from where it's supposed to be thrown from. And it looks like he has all fundamental skill sets that you want in a big quarterback, especially in the northeast and he will run with the ball little bit. There's no question about that. He's a good athlete. I just get the sense from listening to his a lot of his interviews around the bowl games. And all that other stuff that he seems like he really is comfortable and has high expectations for himself to play in the NFL, which is a big part of this thing the way I look at it as the giants. We thought missed a huge opportunity last year by not taking your quarterback. This guy is there for them this year, Wayne Haskins either meaning they have to go up to three or make a deal with the jets are take a bit six thing. You better not let that opportunity slip through your fingers two years in a row, right, especially because you know, the Washington Redskins are going to be looking for a quarterback. The Jaguars are going to be looking for a young quarterback. They're they're blaming. There are a number of teams that I think would try to trade up to go get him that that I do believe that's going to happen. Think somebody's gonna come away from the combine just blown away by him. And also Daniel Jones from Duke actually raised his stock level bit. According to a couple of the scouts that I've spoken to at the senior bowl. So he's another one that's probably going to be a first round quarterback draft pick. And so will it looks like drew lock at a Missouri? Yeah. A lot of people think that those two guys could be on the patriots radar at some point either end of the first round or whatever because they need to now find that quarterback in waiting whatever Tom Brady decides to finally hang it up. Let's go to Colorado on Staten Island. What's happened in Colorado? Hey, what's going on guys? What's up? Now the March I was listening before. And I know you guys are talking about the QB's in the league now running I find it hard to watch. Sometimes especially like, I would tell an out who picked up the phone Lamar Jackson in that wildcard game. I mean, I don't see that running the ball ineffective route to take in in the NFL. It's just not college. Yeah. You know, short short term short term, Colorado. It's okay. Because teams now have to get ready for something that they don't normally see in the run pass option has become such an influential part of the NFL, and it's good. I think I think Lamar Jackson said all the right things after the season was over. He's gotta learn the game. He's gotta learn how to play the game at a pro level, and he's got to do things differently. If he wants to survive. So I think he recognizes that but there's still not going to take the RPO's out of the game. However when you take a look at the two teams that made it to the Super Bowl. They don't run our PEOs. So I will say I would say, yeah. The running quarterbacks it's a little bit of a passing fad? It does happen. There's nothing wrong with like being a Mitchell Trubisky and taking off every now and again, but you can't live like that. Well, Lamar Jackson zig. I think of all the time that Baltimore Ravens now are fully committed to Lamar jazz. Josh Allen, Josh Allens monster arm, though, too. We weren't ever talking about his legs during the combine and leading up to the draft who was all about as big arm, and he ended up that came out of nowhere, essentially how much you ran so. Yeah, he needs to see what Lamar Jackson. He just doesn't have the as they say arm talent, the same type of armed talent that Josh Allen has he has to be running the football in the way that he does. And you see him in sort of compromising situations for Lamar though like any of the young quarterback. Sam darnold included don't come back next year, and they'll be better. Yeah. I mean, but do you see there won't be overwhelmed? They they come in as rookies these guys it's nonstop for the guys right now coming out of college everything right now is football football football football. They're working on their football skills or getting themselves in shape for the combine. They've got to go through a lot of interviews is going to be pro days that they're going to do this going to be individual workouts that they're going to be asked to do. So it is nonstop from now until the end of the season next January. So when you think about that in light of Baker Mayfield Sam darnold, Josh Allen. Josh Rosen and Lamar Jackson those guys played. And there was a lot of pressure on them. And this is the first time that they have ever felt pressure quite like that. So now, it's break time, they're relaxing a little bit. And when they come back not a start for them. They'll feel hell of a lot more comfortable this year than it did last year to catch twenty two with a guy like Lamar Jackson because you want to use him on the ground as much as possible. But you also want him to stay healthy. If you're going to have Lamar Jackson. In the pocket and throw the football time. There's no point of hand. Lamar Jackson on your team, which is gonna be interesting to see what happens with Joe flacco. And also Nick foles guys of that ilk where whether or not teams want to have a stopgap while they draft the young quarterback, and hopefully let him sit. The question is is whether or not the fan base for that particular team that say may draft one of these kids and sign like Nick foles or Joe flacco if the fan base is going to be willing to allow the older player to kind of play through some the ups and downs. Yeah. Or is it going to just be a massive fan pressure to get the guy on the field? I do think though Nick foles brings a little bit more excitement to a fan base. Because it's so recent that he did what he did. I think flacco is a tougher sell on a fan base because he it's been a while now since they wanted and Super Bowl, and he when the when the ravens offense was bad, and he was at the helm. It looked really really bad so foles I could see it fan base getting excited about he's such a good, dude. Not that flacco is in. But it's. I still have. I'm Nick foles. I don't go anywhere. I really he he talked about that. When he came back to Philadelphia at all the stuff that went on. And how he was a preacher somewhere out in Kansas. Or whatever the hell was he was just happy doing what he was doing it. Now, he's sitting on now potentially a money man is true. Downs. Does Carson Wentz even want him back on the Philadelphia roster? That's the other thing you have to ask what what happens if they do bring them back, which they're not going. It doesn't look like they're going to. I don't know what the market is going to be for him. I am I giving Nick foles three years sixty million. No, my give him sixty six million. I mean, my that desperate as a team to get a guy in there. No. I think he gets a case keenum deal is what he gets. That's what he should get six million twenty should get. I don't know if his agents say, well, wait a second. Look, you're a Super Bowl, MVP, whatever. But that's what he should get. It's the type of player is Ronnie in Tom's river, New Jersey. What's happening? Hey, guys. How's everyone doing good, man? What's up? I thought my way I saw your your call GIO in great gold call in that was that was also a really good job. I was really proud. Thank you. Awesome. Thanks. So do you think that both GM's jets and giants you put their differences aside and the giant swap the six the third verse three second round draft picks or do you think? What's his face? And the jets is going to be kind of a nozzle and. What's the name of the jets? Mike mccann. Yeah. So that that's interesting. I know if I'm the judge jam and less there is a game changing player. They're at number three. And when I say game changing an Aaron Donald type player, I think I have to trade out of that spot because I have to recoup some of the picks that I use to get Sam darnold, and this is the best way of doing it, especially if somebody really has their eyes on one of these quarterbacks do the jets and giants have that relationship like the Mets and Yankees do where it's borderline impossible for them to make a deal with one another..

"Three lowest scoring Super Bowl in history history. Also being made Tom Brady the only individual to win six Super Bowls in NFL history. Charles Haley has five or bunch of other guys that have four. Brady, stands alone. And the this is certainly a dynasty knowing Lynn patriots winning six Super Bowls more than any other team. And the fact of the matter is they do it with a different personnel almost have to over a course of an eighteen year run. So I don't know if we'll ever see anything like it again. The president gave an interview yesterday to CBS. We'll get into some of what he had to say political from a political standpoint a second. But he was asked the question whether or not he would never want to see his son, Barron, play professional football, very tough question. That's a very good question. If he wanted to. Yes. Would I steer him that way? No. I wouldn't. I just don't like the reports that I shake coming out having to do with football minister dangerous sport. And I think it's it's really tough. I thought the equipment would get better. And it has the helmets have gotten far better. But it hasn't solved the problem. So, you know, I I hate to say it because I love to watch football. I think the NFL is a great product. But I really think that as far as well. I've heard NFL players saying they would let their sons play football. So it's not totally unique. But I have a hard time with it. And yet knowing everything that we know about the. Cautions. And the brain damage that can come with, you know, consecutive or concurrent or perhaps even multiple concussions. Frank. Little boys to continue to strap on helmets and and played little league football high school college. And if they're lucky enough to make it to professional football knowing full, well, what the risks are is dangerous. Yeah. When you play a game involved with players of this is that they can run faster than ever before then are stronger than number four the physical violence of the contact. And there was a call the game last night where one of the defensive backs made a tackle on a wide receiver and got flagged fifteen yards because there's some new rule that that once they once they catch the ball. You have to give them a space to run before they become a running back before you can actually tackle them with a helmet to helmet hit. I mean, this is where the game is going. And it's difficult now because of the rules. I understand that protecting the quarterback. They're trying to protect the players, and there are people like Shawn springs defensive back for the Redskins and the Seattle Seahawks have companies that are developing newer, safer helmets. But I don't know if it's ever going to be one hundred percent safe. You're always gonna have injuries. And it's it's a violent sport. I've been watching football and then going back to the days in the late forties of the Baltimore Colts. When they were wearing green and silver uniforms and the all America conference with why tittle at quarterback. And, you know, then the course of progressed into the modern day Baltimore Colts. And now, you know years later we're talking about twenty five or so years later over that period of time over the past. I'd say sixty years or so it seems like you said, you know, like the players are stronger than ever before. And they're taking advantage of that strength because I have never seen so many injuries in a given season as we now see and it, and I think it has to do with the strength to the ball players. How they're being you know, they they don't just they're not just there. Tried to tackle any more narrow literally trying to put you out of the game. Any other son? But there were always been people like that. The, you know, again member Jack Tatum the guy that called the hammer. There were guys it, you know, you didn't Chuck Bednarik would would as we used to say knock the mucus out of you on a regular. So there were guys it would you know, it's a violent game. There's no question about it. Just as violent. There are other sports have more injuries than than football soccer is one of them because more people play it and very little padding. And the you get injured any sport. But, but I think you look at this and you want to but, but here's the thing. Nobody's forcing someone to do this. They don't wanna do you voluntarily sign up to play the game you accept the risks. And again, I think the rest of us, can, you know, lose sight of it because you know, we we enjoy it. I I enjoy watching the game. I played through college until I got hurt a career ending injury and back in the late seventies. So things have changed. You know, see these guys now are basically conditioning them. So. Selves, you know, twelve months a year. It's no longer like it used to be where many of the ball players, including the great, Johnny United's and others. It was almost like a part time job for them because they had other jobs in the off season other than just playing football. And so they weren't conditioning themselves. The way the ball players are today. I'm not saying they were soft or anything like that. But they they the they just weren't as strong. I think my own personal opinion as the players are the day because these guys I mean, you look at you look at a guy that does one hundred and eighty pounds, and that would be an average weight of a person, and these guys are just solid muscle. Yeah. Well, I mean, you might be right about that. I think strength training has changed conditioning has changed. But you still can't convince me that a guy like Jim Brown running over people. I mean, you know, you don't really see that as much anymore. I mean, they're incredible individual. Achievements. And sometimes they were they they did it with guile, and you know. Athletic skill and wasn't such brute force in brute strength, but I still the game is always going to be evolving. I understand the president's concern for his son, Barron. Neither my boys played football. They played ice hockey and lacrosse, which can be those are violent games as well with checking an ice hockey, and you're doing it. On fin blades of steel. And that's another thing. You're you. I've seen some graphic or horrific injuries with people have been cut by skates. So in any sport, you can have this. But the president again, he loves the game. And by the way, he's a big supporter of the pats. I don't know if you know that or not but the president Bob Kraft and did you hear the game? I tried to pull the sound up having some issues with some of our PC's this morning. But there was at a point in the game where the quarterback Brady called out. Reagan. Reagan audible that the line and sure enough it was a run to the right and even and even Romo and Nance pointed that out during the game. Speaking of Romo, this guy is really refreshing as a color analyst is unbelievable now, you got the I think he started off kind of weak, but he's coming to his own. Is he is the best? And now they're putting him at all the best games to five forty four times. WCBS traffic and weather first and in for Chuck Whitaker. This morning is Mark Williams. Looking good on the west side. Outer loop of the beltway down through woodland Caitlyn's Ville and the inner loop through Pike's fill in good shape from seventy five to the J affects overall the northeast interloop. We've got the ramp to Harford road down with an accident right now not causing any delay. "Los Angeles. Nathan would you want tickets to go to the Rams game with the Cowboys in root for the Rams on Saturday night? Nathan. I would take him who would you root for Nathan? Well, I'm a giant fan. So I can't possibly for the guy. Okay. What do you call it in four days? What's going on your mind? Well since I am a giant fan. My most hated player. I have two points on. My most hated player is verse. I will tell people until the end of time except for maybe the eighty sixteen. The eight team seven not the eleven Super Bowl team steel eight team was the best we ever had. And we lost. We went eleven. And now we had beaten a lot of great teams through that stretch. And then he goes and shoots himself in the leg and our season ends with a whimper Twenty-three eleven to the eagles and the playoffs. Well, Nathan two things one. He did. Catch the touchdown pass for you. When I was seven that's two one and two is that. He did go to prison for it. So I don't know if that's any sort of, you know, consolation prize for you that he was he was a miserable incarcerated human being. But I don't know if that matters. Well, but we'll take the tyreek. Well, well, well, thank you for the for the Super Bowl. But we'll think Terry for making that plausible. Moving onto Josh mcdaniels. We're quickly give me a little wrote. I don't know if you were Star Trek. Next fan. Boy. Okay. At one point. There was an episode where commander Reicher it's revealed that he was offered multiple captains positions. On other ships. And he took us them. You gotta bring it home. Nathan. I gotta be honest with you bring it home brother, Josh mcdaniels wants only one head coaching job Nance the patriots. That's it. Never forget. Stop hiring them. Stop asking him. He will stay there until. Kills over or walks away. And that's it Nathan live long and prosper. Thank you for the phone. Call. That's true. I mean, you can't argue with that. That was a good giants team started the year eleven and one lost three the last four one and done in the playoffs by the eagles in Columbus, Ohio. You're here on the rich Eisen show home of the Ohio State buckeyes what's going on there. Teddy. Hey, unforgiveable, certainly John Cooper during the nineteen nineties. He had some incredible football teams just looking at the ninety five team alone. That was the BI of a two year. But Ohio State at Eddie, George Orlando pace. Mike gravel Shawn springs. Lovey Smith on their coaching staff. They had a plethora of big time huge talent throughout the entire nineties. John Cooper unforgivable. Ted. Thanks, the call Rackham. You know, the the I I've told you this before, but the reason why Ohio State hired John Cooper. My freshman year of college at the university of Michigan. Jim Harbaugh guaranteed victory over the state university. And he got it. They want it. They go to the Rose Bowl by freshman year. I Rose Bowl and we lost to in Arizona state team. Trace Armstrong always reminds me that because he was on the team. Oh nice. Jeff Van rap Horst was the quarterback bless, you know, never forget that name because it was my first Rose Bowl loss of many. And. The Ohio State buckeyes took note as to who beat Michigan. Head coach that Arizona state team was John Cooper. Love that guy. The thing.
