"Mayor Jenny Durkin has spoken with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and is a pretty optimistic the city is moving toward landing an expansion franchise to replace the SuperSonics. How do you feel about expansion in the MBA? Livable tourney. Uh, I would love to see the Sonics back. I think you know that team is beloved in that city. There's a certain level of nostalgia. Gary Payton, Shawn Camp that left shrimp when you think of the Sonics. David Miller. Um And those teams s Oh, I would love to see the Sonics back. There are other cities. That are worthy of hosting NBA teams. The only drawback is, you know, let's say when the league went to the bubble It. Anybody missed the teams that didn't make the trip to the book. No. Was already like one third of the league. At least that's irrelevant and this would only increase that. Is it a big deal? No, it's not the kind of thing that would make me upset. Obviously, there might be financial reasons. There's fan bases. There's um, that that could be created. There's enough talented basketball players out. There s so maybe I'm over thinking that, but that would be my one piece of hesitancy, but it probably went over by just seeing the Seattle SuperSonics back. What's that? Another one stick you with the NBA at the Toronto Raptors have gone off to a shaky start this season. They did win last night's Now they're two and six on the season. You confident that the Raptor will be able to turn things around with this current group. Uhh! Turn it around. Yes. Fully turned it around in the other direction. No, you looked.

Obviously, I'm taking a big chance by doing this. I think if there's a professional way of using cannabis, I'm the person to be able to push his products. Last week, Kemp PR team declared Shawn Kemps cannabis Seattle's first black own dispensary. Then withdrew the plane, saying it has caused great distraction to the stores and tension. "He has no confidence in it right now, and that's where all I would do is Can you work with somebody who just helps you on form? It feels like Marquel folds has a better shot than Ben Simmons. And remember what Mark L folds went through. But Ben is a very good defender. Very good passer, and it's 69 running the floor. You know? Can he be a magic Johnson Magic worked on his shot. Magic never had a jump shot. He hada said shot, but that size magic worked on it. And it made him such you know, even more dangerous player because you had to respect him taking a shot. Then you don't. But Doc takes over and You still have some openings here now they're talking about Mike D'Antoni. Maybe in Indiana. I don't I don't get the Mike D'Antoni thing. Young Hee's Offensive genius. But I got like, who's winning? Because it always feels like his teams get to a certain point, And then you realize they're not getting further than this. He will make you relevant. He'll make you fun. Can you win a seven game? Siri's with that style. And so far, that answer is no. I think they would have won in Houston if it wasn't for the Warriors Dynasty. I think that was a chance. But you can't. I mean, but that's like the teams have lots of Jordan. I mean, that team was that's a great, great, great, but they don't get credit. Like Patrick Ewing doesn't get credit. For not winning a title during the Jordan era. Barkley doesn't Karl Malone doesn't get some credit, Shawn Camp like they get the least they were in that discussion if they don't know they even Akeem Elijah 112 titles. When Michael's playing baseball and we hold it against him with rockets. Oh, yeah, but Michael wouldn't play. Think. Come on. That style doesn't advance they could have won. That game of hardened could have hit the ocean. But he didn't And that falls back on the coaching to at some point, Don't you say, how about we take a layup? Hey, how about a mid range jumper? So how about the Clippers? Is that that anything? I mean they saw Kawai and Paul George How long you going to have him for? Tyler if he takes the job, But how long are you going to have him for? And that I don't know. Because they cannot down. But you gave.

"Nothing like unveiling a brand new ballpark and No fans, no fans to be there to watch it. It's gonna happen the same way with the Ah, with the Rams charges on the Raiders in NFL as well, Yeah. And we didn't talk much about it yesterday. But how about Seattle? Getting a brand new sake? Team hockey team that they are the crack in? I like it, actually. Do you like it? Well, you know, the crack in is a Seattle deserve to have all four. Yes, I think so. I mean, look, it wasn't like Seattle didn't draw when they had the SuperSonics right? They they still drew fans. They just couldn't work out. The club could not work out a deal. Stadium deal with the city of Seattle to get a facility that they felt was going to be more up to par. So they They Actually played a game of chicken. And guess what? They didn't flinch. They said. We're really gonna We're really going to leave. And they did right. Kevin Durant. I do believe play one year in Seattle. I think he played one year in Seattle before they moved to Oklahoma City. They move the Oklahoma City. Yeah. And if if you remember where did the didn't a Sonics play? Did they play somewhere else? Before they went to Oklahoma City. No No, I think they went see Seattle, Oklahoma City. Yeah, I think you're right. But, yeah, I do think that they're due to get another n ba team. I, you know, Look, the Seattle SuperSonics were man. They had some ball in. Ball in teams back in the day when you look at Shawn Camp and Jack Sikma, and I mean, they had some guys that Or absolutely fantastic. But, yeah, I mean, I think Look, it's it's Ah, It's a giant metropolitan area that I think can support all four sports and they've been supporting minor league hockey for A really long time and they did something very similar. "Of all these players it'll be fun to see Tim Hardaway with Sacramento as a number one pick in the draft **** up but I'll take it to heart away wrap to go will win for the month now I'll go to it Tim Hardaway is March first pick in the draft out of all these guys right because it we're talking about the hardware is part of a terrific team as we mentioned in the past with Golden State with Chris Mullins and Mitch Richmond **** as in the one pick a couple weeks ago yes we did that a week ago last week I saw it with the he was the one pick in his draft and Tim Hardaway out of Chicago went to Utah out and I just think that after his career is done you can look at him and say wow you know he was a a great player for thirteen years thoughts of Tim Hardaway for skin that we drafted maybe not yeah this is very interesting it came down to two players for me I look very hard at shock camp because of Shawn camp and what I thought he brought to the table of the explosive playing playing down low and what he did for the Seattle SuperSonics we were able to see it in the ninety six finals against the Chicago Bulls quite possibly had the second best finals behind Michael Jordan in the finals I definitely was going to consider going to rise because he had just beaten Illinois in the final four so good well good yeah he was good in the final four ultimately winning a championship with the Fisher but getting you took two step definitely goals number one the Sacramento for me carvers on some heart away if you know I would say I would say about that I think you'd agree no get him on the show because I think you'd agree okay so second on the list to the clippers I thought that's why I took Shawn Kemp but we cannot put in perspective though Shawn Kemp was drafted seventeenth in this crap out of Trinity valley community college we knew that he had explosive don't we know he's going to be that kind of player for the sonics at the time right and he seventeenth but I'm taking him second in this strapless with the clippers.

"The NCW turn was going to save it anyway because everybody gets excited about the NCW tournament casual fan hardcore fan bracket BUSTER, knob bracket, bus, whatever that is. But college basketball was just wasting along going along until he came back from that injury and got people excited about college basketball. He got people excited about college basketball from day one what they did against Kentucky during football season when he came back from that injury, everything just completely change. There are plenty of people that were printed a basketball God saying please bring him back. And when they did it was glorious and not just. Duke basketball. That is true. Let's take a look at the whole thing though, when we talk about Zion Williamson and because there's such a spotlight on him. I just think that more so than Duke, and it's it's a rare time that we can take a look at an athletes that plays in college basketball and not look at the uniform. I when I when we mentioned Williams, I don't think about him being with Duke. I I think about the individual. I think about the player because anytime that you see someone like that. And when you look at a player like Zion Williamson all the intangibles that he has. And you can't come up with a cop. There's been people on social media coming at me like, you know, the the hybrid of Shawn camp or and play Griffin and players like Charles Barkley and things like that. But let's try to piecemeal description. If you can't come up with a conflict tells you all you need to know Zion. Williamson the player comes first and then him playing Duke. Because before that, what are we talk about, Freddie? We're talking about players that didn't necessarily captured the imagination college basketball. We're talking about what the jimmer is the the atom Morrison's Derrick rose. At Memphis, Steph curry Gordon Hayward, there's some names there but not quite like this because with Zion. It's a total package and a total impact because the casual fan wants to know his name, and what he's all About Eve, my daughter who does not follow college basketball at all. She was talking about with the people at work that she works with. And she says Zion is, but I wanted to watch on Friday, and she's able to do that when they played against North Carolina in the ACC semifinal game. And a lot of people were watching that game and paying attention that game last Friday, and that was not even four championship. Just these two rivals getting together. But having a chance to play against that team for the first time because he never had a chance to do it. But the energy that people talked about Zion Williamson like Seth Greenberg. ESPN college basketball analyst energy giver. I mean, you can see the enthusiasm the joy he plays with. He's magic ask in terms of the smile on the joy that he plays with. And that's exactly right because people see that irradiates and even when he said killers kill responding to the answer about how were you able to come back out there and play that way with your teammates? He's a killer skill all of a sudden, I became on t shirts all around the area during the ACC tournament. Any other player said something he says, so the and it becomes a marketing campaign, not just for Duke. But also for college. Basketball because we see Williamson. It's not like, oh, there's another Dookie or there's another guy or already putting a stamp on him because he played for Duke now supersedes that because of who he is. And then the sound bites. I've heard a lot of his press conferences, Freddie. I mean, there's a guy. Intelligent kid knows what he wants to do. He was talking after he came back from his injury. And said, you know, like a lot of people are not very smart people thinking that. I'm just gonna just leave a lie team. I mean, I I enjoyed what he said there because he was well thought out after a game number two. He knows what he wants to do. He wants to win a national championship with his teammate. Because he says that team was important to him. And so for those in the unit talked about this too is the idea that he should be able to quit just because he should save himself for the NBA again. It's so easy to quit. And for quitting was not is not what he wants to. Do. He wanted to continue to play and be under the helm of Duke and Mike chef ski John hood for infant Simmons with me, Freddie..

"It's not it's like there's something to be said about a big play wide receiver in football if a guy's picking up four yards a carry in football and beating you it doesn't get the cloud crowd lathered up but if you go deep durante moss and he won hands it everybody's inside and you plan a dome the place explodes and i almost felt like that when i was a kid growing up member shawn kemp yes i'd go to a sonics game when shawn camp would dunk it it wasn't just to point it was like worth six because on the defensive end the crowd got into it and i think to your point when curry's doing his thing golden state's ridiculous it is a su nami of emotion and oracle and you just can't overcome it and the team gets more engaged defensively yes and that's what happened yesterday you see houston at one thousand nine hundred overs yesterday and go to stay turn it into twenty eight points and you can't turn the ball over against golden state you have to take care to basketball you have to maximize every possession you have and want that you can't do is play how they're playing the game one and game three just pound to air out the ball for fifteen seconds you got to move the ball and move the bodies that's the only opportunity you have to be golden state you have to keep everybody engaged because what happens is if you just pound into ball you give a clay break defensively you give andrey mono break defensively you give a k d break defensively and whoever else is out there four golden state wears you out chasing them around the floor on the defensive end and a lot of times when they have you chase it that's all just fake gas it's all just a make you look over here smoke and mirrors but the play is really going on here just keeping you engaged to create gaps in create spaces for guys say either get to the whole and finish or create for their teammates celtics tonight game four they win they're up three one probably the series who do you like.

"Does it not it right right we didn't see that with brady i'm just taking up the last thing we saw brady brian right bill o'brien washington against the redskins person at one another on the sideline rapper that that was that was awesome efficacy and but he's also got into it with mcdaniels you hit upon l brady's but one of those guys have been fiery and feisty guys is different if you're telling the guys sit on what yeah it did look like that yeah that's look why is he allowed wise lebron allowed to bury if this is true on his rep coaches and it'd be a coach kilowatt because ownership looks at lebron as he's a point scoring machine so that's why he wins game singlehandly time so that's why i know you know this i'm just saying you know that's why he's allowed to do that he has that entitlement because now let's say i think i think for example like lebron i think i seventy sixers right so i think that's i don't think he's going west i think he's gonna fill this so let's say that happens so right now what are the guy like like the head coach which they brown brett brown what does brown thick right now thank you while you play to your point is is that it's a players league right it's all about the players if you have the talent it's all about the it it the coaches plays a role it's not as big of an integral role as it once was it's a star driven league used to have two stars to win the nba ninety three and the golden state warriors have got four so it used to always be the case i've got one star who's the next guy that's gonna join right michael and scotty go up and down the line karl malone and john stockton even though they didn't want championship gary payton and shawn camp up in seattle with the supersonics go round the league was always to stars to stars they could never find that guy for patrick ewing with the knicks.

"One of them seems to be almost a foregone conclusion that Seattle, we'll see their SuperSonics return, and then you have team, you know, places like St Louis Louisville, Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh and a number of other studies included in the expansion process. So yeah, it's fun and it does. The NBA is at a point unlike the NFL where the NFL expansion at this point would be. A scheduling nightmare, but the NBA's at a point where they can just adopt the NFL you know, four divisions in these conference model and you can do it pretty easily at going up to thirty two teams. I'm excited about this and I'm very excited to see the SuperSonics back. One of my. One of my favorite playoff series of all time, and I was, I was very young man at this point was the Shawn camp, Gary Payton, Seattle SuperSonics against the Tim Hardaway, Chris Mullin, Mitch, Richmond, Golden State Warriors, love, love, love that series. So much fun. And you know, Seattle fans deserve a basketball team. Obviously that stadium, there's going to be need to be a new arena built, but. I'm excited for Seattle potentially get a team again. Sure. I mean, you know, I've issues with the Seahawks, but not not their fans by any means. I think that that's if that's all on the table. Obviously, I think he had the SuperSonics or more than deserving. I think the other thought to me would be, you know, it's only a matter of time. We keep hearing that it might happen to it or what happened at some point. But one is when you start thinking about, you know, international expansion. Mexico City was on that list. You're absolutely right. Yeah. So let's go city is a natural next up, possibly another team in Canada, and then Wendy start thinking about going overseas. So that's those are all very, very interesting ideas that are probably a little bit further down to play one. But a lot of sense to me and it's, I mean, basketball. There's been a lot of talk about how the NFL's ratings are down, but basketball. I mean, it seems is ready to maybe step to the floor as far as you know, being big ratings or obviously we're getting a new CBA in part because the teams or the the money is there so much of it, and it's getting split up and reallocated in hand over fist, all these, these owners of these teams are making tons of money now. So you know, the TV deals are Intel and it's very interesting. I mean the NBA in a really interesting spot relative to football, I think, and and it's only gonna get more and more. Popular as warriors, try to win that title and the Cavs defend their crown, and there's the NBA amazing stuff. I live the best we've seen since you know Jordan era. It is, you know, there's some fundamental problems with the sport on some of them are unavoidable given despite in the salary cap. But you know what? I don't. I'm not an advocate for super teams. It's going to be, don't get me wrong. It's going to be a lot of fun watching Durant and Steph curry, and Klay and dream on play together. But it also feels like they're, it feels like a foregone conclusion that we're going to see Cleveland and Golden State in the NBA finals. Again this year, which is cool for you know a rivalry reason, but also sort of deemphasizes the rest of the regular season..
