"Is that they don't high um and this can happen over and over and over again and it bothers me in a basel above there's a lot of us were activists in this area and you know we have really really four to make people understand how you know this is a discrimination against those who've done at time who've come home who want to give bat who have these great abilities to be able to offer a company something that they have not given the chance so just so and believes second chances and you know we believe that although the interviews are done onebyone that yes we may hear some things that are uncomfortable but we're willing to give a woman a chance today and that's the reason why that saw import and what is it fits changed i feel like you hear a lot more about helping the formerly incarcerated and helping them with jobs programs and reentry programmes why is the public's thinking on that changed so i think that as so okay so let me go back a little bit so i've been home i've been let me just throwing one more question i mean i think there's a lot more information now about mass incarceration of people in the unfairness of all that do is it all these things combine right i think that it is or combined and going back to like when i first came home because i've been hamam was eight years i can remember what it was like around the time that i got arrested opposed to all the things that i've heard while i was incarcerated about all the fine people that were out and doing all these great things and then i came home and then i got to actually experience it myself and i think that what's happening now is that more vow stories are getting out right more of us are.

"A idea round the preservation of life and what actually took place between myself and my abuser and you know life moving forward and all of the pain and suffering that you know um was caused from this relationship and and how much aldrin's suffered because of a choice than i made arm so i'm a huge on you know taking responsibility you know and it's really really hard sometimes because as domestic violence victim and the whole cycle of abuse it can be easily said well all that person deserve what they got look what they did to you i really really look at it in a different level arm and i take that very seriously so now that you're out of prison and running your multiple companies you decided that you wanted to give back and help other people who were facing what you faced when you've got out of prison so tell me what it's like for a woman who gets out of prison who's trying to find a job and is just facing discrimination after discrimination right so someone coming home from prison and that this this doesn't have to be just a woman it could be a male person laws that you only higher we're not only in iowa right now um and because less because we're trying to empower women and women's them times i was four by the way size so right now which is trying to create a women base organization um so but it's really really difficult when you come home and you have a certain crime especially a violent crime and when you go for an interview uh you may have all the qualifications you can have your associate's degree abacha's gree amasses agree and um this company may in fact really really want you and then they do a background check and i found out that you've been incarcerated and what happens then.

"Advertising dollars that those chains have is that an issue in the brassica i wouldn't say so i like their such a strong community of people who want to support small businesses that i don't remember the last time the i even went out sought a chain restaurant you know i just you have your path uetake and you have the places that you go and i think the you can live a very happy life in nebraska without having to frequent those are have them become a problem for your business so that's good to hear yeah so you move back you start this blog you discover you have some dietary restrictions you start making your own baked goods to you know so that you can eat kind of what you want and your blog kind of takes off yeah and do your blog becomes a bakery that most bloggers just continue blogging yes so i felt s it's almost like when you start a blog as somebody who's like like i said a little bit introverted it's like oh almost feels a little vein to tell people about yourself and talk about what you're doing and so i finally worked up the courage to start sharing my post just on my personal facebook page and i realized that people actually did curate so you were like blogging in secret oh i was blogging and secret big time yeah so it was like a diary yeah i mean i knew that one day i made free brownie exactly i knew that eventually one day i would want to publish it but i didn't really know when that would be your how that would be um and so eventually one day i just said fine whatever i'm just going to publish this and people actually cared and were reading it and i started taking orders and i as far as working my fulltime job and also baking forty or fifty hours a week and what was your fulltime job i was working for a biotechnology company in international marketing so just that i wasn't like fully fulfilled obviously which is why is started blogging and um were did you have recipes.

"In nebraska for my situation and i think the nebraska's early special place and i think that some people consider it like a flyover stay but i have found a lot of happiness there and i alternately made the decision to invest myself and my business in a place that feels very special expand on that a little bit the part about how you found happiness there because i i know some people think that they have to be in a big city how especially if they want to start a business or something like that what um tell me how the happiness manifested itself so lincoln nebraska specially it's at a city of about two hundred fifty thousand people and i think it's a very unique city because the people who live there really want to see business owners be successful so am i feel like the the city structures itself economically twos to help business owners succeed and i feel like the um the people who live in lincoln really wanna see business owners succeed so um i just think that it's important to be an advocate for places like this that are small but they allow you to do what you wanna do so i think that you know maybe in a a bigger city or someplace where the cost of living as a little bit higher i would have to kind of alter what i want to do and what i'm selling but i feel like i was able to do exactly what i wanted to do and lincoln i've driven around not hold our country but a fair part of the country and i'm really heartened by all of the the the young women out there opening their own businesses because i think they're really is something that's going on and people are going moving back home moving to smaller cities where the out the business environment is more hospitable to someone like you but the bummer is all the chain restaurants oh my gosh you drive around the shas so many chain restaurant the air like pushing these really cheap prices on people and you're like god how did a small businesses succeed when they have to fight this and fight those.
