"Only verse eight so deeply do we care for you that we are determined to share with you not only the gospel of God. But also our own selves because you have become very dear to us. This is the word of our Lord. And let us pray gracious. God we give you thanks for this day. Lord. I pray that the words of my mouth, maybe pleasing in your sight that the meditation of our hearts may bring you glory and honor the Lord we also trust your Holy Spirit. RA speaking to us already molding our hearts to hear the message that is for us this day. Holy spirit. We welcome you. And we thank you for the work. You're about to do think Christ. We pray. Over the next four weeks will be preaching from themes based on our all trickery living the gospel in the gray. And the book is for those of you that have started to read it or have it ready yet, you realize that the book is about evangelism. And really redefining what it means to share the gospel and really just to dispel some of those inadequacies or fears that we might have about sharing it. And what it looks like what it feels like, you know, as followers of Jesus Christ. We know that sharing. The gospel is important our faith is really grounded in the concept that this is good news. You know in ancient times emperors governors. They would send edicts that were called the good news of Herod. The good news of Easter Caesar Augustus. And really they were edicts that declared that one of the few things a military victory had been accomplished land had been cleaned. A riot or something had been quelched and any time that they saw the people in the cities and the town saw the messengers bringing the gospel. The good news. People will be excited because they knew that something good had happened either in their community or for the empire and the early Christians used that word gospel because they also saw that Jesus had done a very calculated victory and they use military terms. He had victory over sin yet victory over evil. And so when people in the ancient times thought of the gospel of Jesus Christ. They thought it in that same way, this is stuff. That is exciting. Those who hear it who see their messengers coming forward. She'd be excited because something good has happened in the church has historically been convinced of the value of the message and convince of the person of Jesus Christ. And so for centuries, the church is actively evangelize pretty much all over the world at one time or the other. Scripture reading that sharing right for his highlights. This for us that there is an active in ongoing sharing of the gospel. And it's really an ordinance or in order something that you are to do. But over the last decade, the church has probably taken a pause and has had an opportunity to reflect on not the value of evangelism. Because we still believe that evangelism is valuable. But really we have begun to ask a different question. What does it mean to make a disciple of Jesus Christ's, not a convert? Is he for many years when I saw the verses that Sharon Reid for us. I actually just right on go. Therefore and make converts that's about numbers. Right. It's about the amount of people. You can get in discipleship, though, as the churches reflecting on. This is really something. Much more dynamic much more intimate requires time intention -ality. And so in many ways, we are rediscovering the great commission at its truest in its most faithfulness. Discipleship? And that's where we pick up today because evangelism for many of us perhaps today or in the past has normally meant a formula, a method or a prayer. You know, you can think of it as four steps, you know, you're interacting with someone. You know, step one check step to check to three check. And if you get to step three, you're in it, get the stat four and you're done. And we've seen evangelism mainly programming. I've got two stories. I wanna share with you their stories about my life because my life is so interesting just as yours. My first story is really a story of zeal that I had in my early twenty s you know, I had this great seal I really believed and still do, but the seal is different nowadays that I wish to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, and.
