Has Giannis Antetokounmpo Earned More Respect During NBA Finals?
"Of jaanus. We have a lot to talk about what it when it comes to the greek freak because he is just one win away from winning his first. Nba finals but the two time. Mvp still hasn't gotten total respect around the league from his peers. Just last year james harden. Instead of the honest. I wish i could just run and be seventeen. And just don't like that takes no skill at all. I had to actually learn how to play basketball and how to have skill. you know. i'll take that any day. Well chris paul just last week said of his finals opponent quote he comes down there. He dunks his dunks. You don't more than he shoots a layup. I don't know about this bullshit and has earned more respect during these finals for me. I don't respect him anymore. Any less than i did going into the final. Skip for me for a guy that everybody says that he can't do and he doesn't. I think the biggest thing is to make a long story short skip. He can't shoot the ball kevin durant. He's not flashy with handling the ball. Like daimler steph curry. He shoot the then. I saw back shoes. Like james harden. He's not as accomplished or if charismatic is lebron james football. A lot of guys can't can't can't can't he's a two time league. Mvp he's a defensive player of the year and he's on the cusp of winning title and being finals. Mvp that's a hell of a carpenter for a guy that got a lot of kids.

Powering the Age of Connected Insurance with Shannon Goggin, CEO at Noyo
"Shannon really really fascinating talk to us about how exactly you guys are are adding value to the ecosystem to know you'll is the api layer for insurance distribution. What that means is we build all the infrastructure all the that make it possible under the hood for soft eric companies to connect with insurance companies and specifically software companies that are helping people understand their benefits coverage. Maybe they're helping them. Shop for benefits get different quotes about what plan options are available to them and then get enrolled in those plants and importantly make sure that they know the status of their fridge and the reason that this is important for healthcare is health insurance is really the gateway for people to use healthcare in this country. There are very expensive. If you don't have health insurance to go to the doctor get the care that you need and everybody needs really great insurance coverage but many people don't have it not everybody has access to it in this country and so the work we do is really. Let's focus on making it possible for people to take any fetching out of that process as possible to get access to health insurance that they need which ultimately. Let's get the health care that they need. Yeah interesting so there's basically that point in time where people are deciding what insurance to get how specifically to use their insurance coverage they have. It's really that whole process right so you guys are are helping aggregate data for other software companies helping people to do what they do. That's right. We really facilitate the secure data exchange between health insurance companies and any software that their customers might want to use. So you know if you think about this. In a financial services comparison and the in a sort of banking world people can use then mo right to send money to their friends after the go to meal together and then mo had next to all the different banks and all the different financial institutions to make it possible for people to have that access But there's another company between ben mo and most of those banks which facilitates the actual connections the actual sort of infrastructure under the hood that takes of the security of saying who can have access to what account and make sure that it's properly encrypted and protected and epa data is structured appropriately. We play a similar role in the health insurance

"As Diet Denisova. Apparently hosted everybody. It's like been a an Airbnb for All kinds of different eras. Denisova ins as they call them, it looks like Neanderthals. Modern humans, Denisova ins all at the same time, well, maybe because one of the things they said among the eight human fossils, they said, are the pinky and three bones from Neanderthals. Even even One from a child with one Neanderthal parent and one den, a Sovann parent, so maybe they were mixing breeds in there. The cave also contains sophisticated stone tools and jewelry at higher later levels, but no modern human fossils have been found there. That that at least gives them the idea. They said. Of course, eight fossils isn't much to go on. But they lay in the civil graduated. The Max Plank Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology teamed up with Russian researchers to figure out what the DNA was within those bone samples and to see if there was any present in the soils of what they say is a three chamber cave. They talked about basketball. They talked about family even talked about tequila, and they talked about coaching their kids over the years and you get to see Side of Kobe Bryant, and most people don't get to see because one we would never see his text messages. But we get a sense of how he was a doting father and how he enjoyed his post basketball life where he was spending time. Just being a dead yes, that included being a coach and being around basketball in a Quasi coach fashion for his Children, But he just enjoyed the whole aspect of not living his life through professional basketball, preparing for games but more preparing for his daughter's game. G, who, unfortunately is no longer with us as well. But we got to see a side through Kobe Bryant and his text messages with Michael Jordan. How Kobe was supremely focused on family. And it was nice to have that type of

Wet Notes - 4-23-21
"This is wet notes for april twenty third. Two thousand twenty one here on scuba shack radio. I up just after i recorded. The last episode president biden released his two thousand and twenty two budget. Well if you're a fan of the national oceanic and atmospheric administration or noah. You'll be happy in the budget. Proposal released on april ninth. The president proposed a record budget of six point. Nine billion dollars for knowing now. How does that compare well. This year knows budget is four point. Six billion wow. that's big increase. This budget really supports taking action. On climate change protecting marine mammals the ocean great lakes and coastal communities. If you recall the previous administration has proposed cutting knows budget only to have it restored by congress. Now this is just a first step in the budget proposal. It has a long way to go to get congressional approval. But i think it's a very good first step now. Here's something that's really interesting. I read this in the cayman compass online. It's about a grand cayman. Northside family found a message in a bottle. Yeah on easter. i think it was. The family was out walking on a remote part of the island. A place called the parrot sanctuary. I think this is on the east end. Well that's where patricia dacosta her family recovered an emerald colored bottle with a handwritten message inside the note said thrown into the ocean on six december. Two thousand and seventeen somewhere between the bahamas and florida. If you find this drop us a line and let us know where it ended up. Signed by darren and shannon from evansville illinois and it gave them their email address so patricia them with the news and now darrin shannon are planning to visit grand cayman at some point as for the bottle. The dacosta family's planning to put their own note in the same bottle and send it back out to see what an incredible journey. It's here the second quarter edition of the journal of diving history magazine. It arrived in the mail just after the last show. This latest additions cover story was written by chris. Cole and it is about the divers who worked on the edgewater disaster. It was one of the worst maritime disasters in us history. I'll leave it at that and you can do some of your own research but it was a really interesting article. There's also an interview in the edition. Done by michael newdow with dick rakowski and he's dubbed. The father of nighthawks again. Some really interesting stuff. I highly recommend that you take a look at the historical diving. Society's website if you become a member you'll get the journal mail to you every quarter a pleasant surprise in your mailbox. I received an email from a friend a few weeks ago with the subject line serenity so who can't use a little serenity how about serenity now well it turns out that my friend was asked by our son to watch him cameras for a school project. These live cams were from the monterey bay aquarium so i went to the link and it took me to their landing page for nine different cameras. I'm not going to list them all right now. But you can peek. In on their penguins. Sea otters were moon jellies. There's even a camera for monterey bay itself personally. I like to observe my sealife while diving but these live cams from monterey bay aquarium can fill in and provide that little bit of serenity. Now here's something interesting. That came in from shearwater. You know the makers of the dive computers. They have a contest. It's going to be starting up. In may called the spring shopping spree and the winner will get four thousand nine hundred ninety nine dollars shopping spree at the dive shop of their choice. And here's how it works if you purchase the shearwater in april or if you buy one in may you can register for the contest with their online portal with a proof of purchase. But you don't have to buy a computer to participate. You also be able to register by completing a short fifty word essay on why you like shearwater computers. The lucky winner will be selected at the end of may. And it's another great way to support your local dive shot. Thanks your water for doing this. And finally there was a short article from patty on april twentieth about their meeting with the maldivian government to confirm the protection for sharks. There was some speculation out there that the maldivian government might be lifting the shark fishing ban in their countries waters. Well this can't be good over ten years ago. Patty along with others helped to establish this current protection so the patty staff met with the moldavian ministry of fisheries marine reserves and agriculture's lead zaha wahid. Well here's some good news here at the meeting minister while he said that they were committed to sustainable and responsible management on april twentieth the ministry released a statement that said the maldives does not intend to permit a targeted shark. Fishing in the mouth. These great job. Patty in great job maldives for protecting these critical apex predators. Well that's it for wet notes. For

Because i was the only parent that had not picked up the stuff to be able to sell the cookies and and i don't want to bother people needed that cupcakes. Shannon publicity okay. We'll know so. I didn't do anything publicly. This wise. We had ten days to sell cookies so myself and my sister jacqueline. We were like ferocious. And what the half continue was but we were into it like so into it. We were obsessed with pushing cookies like they were drugs or something. I mean i. I'm embarrassed we asked all of our friends and family and lucy made a little video when we put it on facebook again. I didn't put it on any of my like during the morning. Stuff just for privacy purposes but Lucy had a meeting last week. The cookie sales are done for her troupe and she was told that she sold the most boxes of cookies in her troupe. You would have thought that my sister and i won the mega millions through a party. We are so excited. Oh those random things like you know your competitive until you do whatever it is and for for for me. I'm throwing my sister into this as well. It was the selling of girl scout cookies. Which now it's kind of different. How they do it. They don't really do the paper like your girls would come into the studio and they had like a little checklist and you can still do that. But now they i don't know if this is the first year but they have the online digital cookie selling platforms so they want to give friends and family the link. Yeah they can be sent directly to their home. They built years ago to kind of because they realized one of the biggest excuse like kids can have a lot more sales to bother. They're out of town. Relatives really came in useful this year because of the pandemic. but it's amazing once you get a taste of like oh. I got to the top of the list. That's what happened to natalie. When she was a girl scout she had no interest in selling and then came in here once sold around my building. Everybody bought from her. She got the most sales and got the big prize. We and then the next year she had two top authors. Like lucy doesn't care that's the funny. She's like my sister jacqueline. And i we care and that's how i asked her after her girl scout meeting. Do you know what you get do. Because don't they have like there are some. Yeah there's different levels based on how much you sell prizes if we if we see shannon wearing a candy necklace to wear next week cookies. That's what you've got a kitty necklace. Remember the thrill of those prizes though and looking back i feel bad at every single boomer parent because i used to get screaming monkeys as our prizes and they were slingshots and they would scream through the air so essentially there were like five hundred of these in my neighborhood outside. You would just hear this screaming. Monkeying every thirty seconds. Yeah i mean and tell us what you're competitive about because it always is the parents not the kids. Eight four four mo jo live. I know in this area. I've experienced something. I've never experienced before. And that is parents who are working in the big three or auto suppliers and then they have to help their son with their boy. Scout pinewood derby cars to design a car. Great family brothers. Did you boys hold onto those. Yeah well it's like a little memory of your childhood something that you know memory of of father son experienced together except sometimes the sun doesn't get to doing them because the father get so competitive because he knows the arrow dynamic of this car and he's going to wait it down in the front with lead droppings underneath the front axle. Like dads get so into it. They forget to let their son help. Make the little cars and then get mad and start arguing when their car win the race in the boy scouts. People are saying cookie. Sales are not done for lucy's troop they are done selling. I think you can still order off of the girl. Scouts digital platform just in case like people are screaming at me on tax. No her troupe is done and then soon the outdoor stuff will start. And i don't know this year with kovic how they're going to do it but we weren't allowed. She's salt lake in front of kroger blaming stuff this year. And that's why like yasser. i understand. It is supposed to be a learning experience for the girls by it. She can't really do any of the online stuff so i told her she the people who opted for the home delivery. She has to do her but she has to do. All of the home deliveries. That's her her piece Jenna has an idea. I think for selling the most or is it something you saw other parents doing. Yeah hello hi. You're on the air. Tell us what you were thinking about. The girl scout cookie sales. Okay so like. I work for a michigan state facility trimming marijuana like okay saw they would bring the moms. The parents like the mom and dad were always come to like the dispensaries of eight mile and they would set up shop outside of the dispensaries in the spencers would let them and they would sell out within like literally like twenty minutes. All the whole entire law which is totally forbidden by the girl scouts. They're not allowed to do that. Like they're assigned certain chain stores like box like home depot and walmart and stuff that they're allowed to. They're not allowed to sell in front of those but the parents do it they set up an al say are going to do it anyway because they know people coming out of dispensaries are like oh we you know. I'm gonna have the munchies later. I'd better and what's funny is a lot of the dispensaries have girl scout cookies strains of weed inside like they sell a thin mints. We eat and they sell. You can go by samoan blunt. So it's Maybe there's a perfect pairing there. I don't think the girl scouts would appreciate that either but it's fine wife. Hey mom and dad that comes with them you know. I've only a couple of times. And i've only seen that certain dispensaries. I don't smoke weed but I have card. So i don't 'cause i i have to have my card for work 'cause i worked for the state of michigan trimming facilities that are state license and i work for two of them. So like it's funny that when you go to dispensaries. Oc like they kind of won't be up in the front. They'll be like hina in the back like the back of their car. Yeah everyone that like literally. Leaves buys like boxes and boxes. And i've gone there just to by girl scout cookies.

"So shannon so shannon you and tell everybody about what You ended up getting on your. your car. Had swim lessons with kids yesterday. The lessons even though. I should probably take them get back out to my car. Was loading them in all my stuff in and i noticed that i had a ticket under my windshield wiper and i was like how in the heck am. I getting a ticket in a parking lot. That's like public. You don't have to pay parking lot in front of the swim squad. I was so confused. I looked at the ticket. It was from last thursday of knowledge. That is how long it has taken me to notice. I had a ticket it flapping under your wiper offense. I was gone all weekend. So i wasn't using my car in biodefense. Isn't that bad. Did you when you got has been paid when you got the ticket. Did you get the ticket in a place like that. You knew that your meter expired or whatever like did you. So i was at a restaurant on thursday night and i my meter probably just ran out. Yeah pay with an app on my phone out during the lead. The was it dark or something. Just notice that that time right and then you're driving. Did you use your wish while it wasn't so that's the thing we were just talking about windshield wipers. Wouldn't you use your entire windshield wipers. Its ryan it's rained over the course of the last. I am telling you. I didn't notice. Oh maybe it was from last thursday night and you're defense. Maybe when you use your windshield wipers maybe it just kept pushing it down and pushing it down pushing it down in there but it's under the white are wise. It would have blown away. It didn't go anywhere that's kind of funny. It was last thursday night. What happens with the ticket. Not i was not an happens if you like. Never see it then. That's not an angie. They'll send you a reminder. The fines increase. That's why i hate going. I hate going imagine telling the cops. I'm sorry didn't see the ticket in in under your wipers. I hate going to places cities that do these meters and stupid things like that. Like that stuff like you know the worst park in the world's grand rapids like everywhere you go. You got to pay for parking downtown grand rapids worse because the city owns all the garages you for the amount of money they charge compared to other cities and then Downtown toledo or two royal oak birmingham. There's our that bad. Plus we get really great open hours in the middle of the day to because they want to support local businesses. So you get free. Parking in the middle of the day to go to restaurants and small i hate. I hate the parking. Lots to where you have to go up to a box to sit there and put money or your space number. It's like they didn't wanna put it in front of your space. And now i gotta go it's crappy weather and got walk up to a box and i gotta sit there and deal with all that credit actually saves you time with wait for everybody to go up to a guy in a booth and pay. It's dragging time people. Never have their tickets. Have their money ready or not. It's come on now as soon as you pay the machine you go up to your car you leave you pay on your weighing usually or you guys sitting there and you're going to a game or something well for game. Yeah for an event. I'm talking about regular garages in the cities. Where you don't pay the same. If you're going to be there for twenty minutes or three hours i but here's the campaign advanced. I hate the whole idea of paying for parking like already pay my taxes. I'm not paying for your parking unless it's a private guys parking lot which i don't wanna parking on. The street city should never shouldn't charge for parking. It's so stupid stupid. Cities have to find a way to get income somehow so they'd rather income charging taxes on my windshield. You live in that city state do sales tax but if you live in that city shannon cities beautiful. They have all kinds of cool events all summer in the park. All that stuff that what do you think. How do you think that's paid for. I don't enjoy them. I don't live in that city. Exactly why they charge for parking. They're charging visitors instead of resident. And then instead of you who live there have to pave everything. They're getting people to come to shop. Royal oak birmingham or other cities to actually pay and then the person who writes the tickets like their goal in life is just to be miserable. So they draft. Who's going to be miserable. Because i'm hearing someone right now. He's the one that got the ticket day. Drive around. i've gotten tons and tons of they drive around in these little like golf carts in this. Pull up next and I gotcha you know the guys like you know four hundred pounds getting out of the damn thing. The royal the biggest a-hole ever ever ever ever for doing his job. No he's just the whole. He's like literally waiting around that one minute that you're over the worst. Is that my kids all night long for him. Would you do as soon as my mom came over last night to help me with them. Should they were like mama got hick. It nam like cheese. I don't like to pay for parking. But i'm sensible. I realized they just two giant new garages in that neighborhood. How do they pay for it. They can either charged. If neighbors that live in that neighborhood they could charge you for parking. Parking garages or fine. I have no problem with parking garage. Yeah i go to the first two hours or free if you. I have the door. Arcane in having to pay for three parking way quicker to park on the street it's not about the pay. It's the fact that you just pull up on the street as opposed to having to go through paying for convenience it's just like mojo you pay for convenience with door dash instead of driving out to the restaurant to get your dinner. You're paying someone to bring it to you. There's no can you want to be lazy and park right in front of the store. You got paid of delays. They don't make given the businesses that are in downtown. That don't have parking. Lots at you have to pay a city to go give business your money. I have a hard time with that guy. At my favorite clothing stores toledo own store. And i have to pay for parking to the city to go give a local business. My money is inferior and a lot of times. You're in there for two seconds. But you gotta sit there and put in the money that you know and i'm paying taxes on clothing items so i'm giving doing over infrastructure and how cities run. They have to pay an entire fleet of cops and trash people and people that those parking spaces for you. And how do they pay them. How come i don't buy it. I don't talk about it on pay for parking in west bloomfield. I live because what's the destination where people going. You're a strip mall there are. There is no downtown. They wanted to charge. They charge for parking in the parking lot. There at the lee owned a lot that that planet fitness pay someone to clear their lot because they charge you membership to the gym. I don't pay for parking when i'm in bloomfield hills. That's a very buji nice place. You're arguing apples and oranges. Somebody's private business with their own personal last and dime you to death. I'm gonna invest in just buying like parking lots and then selling for just under what the other Other parking lots of charge. It's just stupid argument. If you choose to go to that town you know you have to pay parking and you can't get mad at them.

"You know what a fox actually put together a Its own book label. And they had some ideas floating around they came to me about this Idea of women. In the bible which i immediately said yes to i'm somebody who My faith is the most important thing to me. I grew up in church and we started hearing women together so we ended up having eight pairs of women to see the parallels in the live their lives the lessons we can learn and hopefully that'll be encouraging people right now after we're coming through chaotic year and it looks like we're going into another at least the start of this one is challenging And listen i thought i knew these stories and i do it for them at sunday. School and church for all these years. But i learned so much about every single one of these women and super energized and encouraged by them thinking about some of the really frightening moments. They found themselves in any rose to the challenge and some of them. You know struggle with things that that You know people today to have the same issues of jealousy and infertility feeling left behind and being left in terrible situations and how god worked in every single one of them and clearly their stories are important. I mean that's why they're moving into the bible the old and the new testament and i just found it to be really inspiring and encouraging and i certainly hope that's what it'll be two other people i was gonna ask you before that last line. What what you want people to take away from it but what were Who who was a woman of the bible that maybe you didn't know as much about that upon the study you said well. She's really important. You know what deborah who was a leader of israel and she was a judge in old testament and the funny thing is. I was working on editing. Her as i was sitting in any conybeare at hearings on capitol hill And i thought ooh that's an interesting parallel That Women you know can have these important positions of power and deborah was seen as somebody who was so wise and the israelites actually deferred to her. And we're thankful for her leadership and so often we think of the bible as being about a bunch of old guys and profits and leaders that you know maybe other people feel passed over but debra was clearly the one who led them into battle she actually went to her general and said god's told me we're supposed to go in and engage in this battle and he said I don't really want to do it. But i'll do it if you come with me. So she said because of your hesitant this The victory for this battle..

"You see her every night on. Fox news shannon. Bream a face in a name that i don't have to introduce to you but she's written an interesting new book called the woman. The women of the bible speak the wisdom of sixteen women and their lessons for today which will be released in march. We'll talk about that in a moment. But first it's been a very busy time in the new shannon when you see a news story like what developed yesterday and you're preparing your show because you have the whole day of the perspective of lots of different people whether it be rusher sean or mark or brit hume. You have a lot of different inputs before you start deciding. How do i cover this story at that. Unique day part. What is your approach. What is your strategy as to. What can i add to this story. Most days i start really early as soon as well early by my definition. Because i go to bed at two am But once i get up. I have several sources i like to read into and get running and yesterday i had some things to do around the house and i thought once i get my initial no doubts my team after a couple of hours of reading impressive I'm going to just put this on. Watch it on c. span the whole electoral college thing. We'll be covering it tonight. And i'm gonna do some other things and i was watching it and my husband works from home now too and so i said to him at one point. It looks like some people are running off the house floor And then they were back in and they were leaving again and then of course we saw what Played out for the entire country the entire world to watch and it was one of those days yesterday where it was hard for me to do that. Compartmentalizing too personal and professional. Because i feel like most stories you gotta take your emotions out of it and you gotta just do what you do. When reporting the news yesterday was one of the few days. It was super challenging to do that..

I thought jeffrey was making really strange. But he's such a good actor that i must be the one. That's doing it wrong. So i kind of in a rehearsal brought myself down to his level and was like started talking to him like this and all of a sudden. They're like no no no no no. Don't do that. you just like you go. Staccato and jeffrey goes llegado okay. Like that's how they got me to continue to kind of keep it up here are you. Sure human reminder. Yeah they didn't wall. I didn't know that he people. Yeah anyway that was funny. Yeah that It just i. I just i mean i love just just the whole digest conceits of that show just just Just everything about it. I really. I was just i loved the initial part of it And also i think it's break neck. Nobody gives a shit about westerns anymore. So it's kinda yeah. It was such a big fan of the first movie in like. I'm such a sifi pre-quake. I had such a blast on that show especially like i'd never done something where they had that kind of money. Where like this sets are really there and it's not green screen and show up and be like wow cool. I guess just roll. 'cause i believe it right right there. A weary desert buggies and weird machine guns shannon. You have all these robots and they're all yours to swear lot just like talk shit. And i was like great. Sounds good to me all right. But then you're like oh but it looks so good because they're like can you put an x. On the key right there and then they never move. There is like oh. That's why you look like you're really good. Intents like those are the things that like. You don't teach you learn at work and you can watch people's careers you can watch like actors became movie stars like kinda just like really raw the beginning and then later all of a sudden. They're doing the movie star thinking you're like 'cause they learned about all the islands growth they learn where it looks. Good when you look and lega all those little also secrets. I was in a movie and it was right. As i was leaving colin the first time i did a a movie that richard gere was in. We had a scene where we were hunting me in two other guys were hunting to. He was hunting. You know not no. No no no we were. We were his pals. We were his golf out. Yeah i know it sounds pretty good would be where you were. Hunting other guys and richard gere was hunting me a lot of rumors about i wish but we were at opposite ends of a log. We were sitting on a log and we're having a scene. That's kind of like a you know more kind of emotional serious confessional scene and i could not hear word that he was saying like. I could just kinda here. The burma and i couldn't hear a word he was saying. And i would say they'd like i can't hear him to the script person or something like and i just wait till he was done talking and then after a while i was like all right. I'm going to wait till he's done talking. I'm gonna say my line but then of course when the cena's when we see the dailies he looks like richard gere. He's recently we gotta we gotta move this log casing. Yeah he's saying it. Adding them on sunday. And i'm yelling like i'm at the other end of the log yelling because i'm gear 'cause i'm treating it like i'm sitting. I log and talk to no. I'm not sitting on a movie i can't play. This is if i'm talking to a guy at the other end of the log. I play it as if i'm you know. Anyway that's my acting lesson. Yeah there's a lot of little things like that where like when it cuts together. That's that's the other thing too..

"Together. We had over two thousand RSVP's to get together this year in Las Vegas, we had to pivot and do it online and we had even more people from all over the country participate. So again, I think it goes to show how inclusive, how in how equitable these technologies are and also how important they are to stay connected. You know I think during this time of isolation covid people want to reach out another socially, but also as activists. So I think gun violence has been a little bit less sort of present in a lot of people's thinking. Lately, because of the pandemic, we don't have quite as many visible, highly visible mass shootings although of course, there are still mass shootings happening on that. As you noted, it exacerbates gun violence in in different kinds of ways. How do you make sure that people's would have keep this at the forefront of their thinking and and what are the ways that the pandemic has has changed? A little bit the nature of what gun violence looks like in this country. First of all, we've seen a historic number of gun sales since Kobe crisis began and we know that that is exacerbating gun violence. women are isolated with abusers who have easy access to guns, kids and teens are at home, maybe with easy access to unsecured firearms or they're struggling with suicidal ideation. That was for adults too. You know we are now estimating at least five to seven thousand additional gun suicides share.

"There was the green man, the glowing ghost of a man who was electrocuted in the area and continued to haunt the grounds, all these stories me, for Halloween, Tales and urban legends. But Tragically, Shannon would now be added to the law of Zombie land because on Wednesday afternoon, the body of twelve year old Shannon Lico was found. Saw It on the news. It was a news story about a girl young girl who was missing and they found remains at just like super young and I was like what? I saw. I saw the snippet of news and I thought God I need to find out what happened. When police arrived at Zombie land what they found was something right out of a horror movie. Shannon's body was lying face down near an abandoned railroad line. She had many visible sharp force injuries she'd been stopped and it seemed as though her killer or killers had tried to conceal their crime by attempting to burn Shannon's remains. The investigation into the disappearance of Shannon Lee costs had now switched gears. Shannon had been murdered in brutally at that and who could be responsible for something. So horrific. Shannon's face was all over news. TV segments and newspapers and police hope that tips would start pouring in. Police processed the scene hoping that some physical evidence was left behind. That could point to a possible suspect in this case. An autopsy was conducted and it was revealed that Shannon had been stabbed forty times in the neck and torso, and the police believe a large knife had been the murder weapon. And based on the level of decomposition believe that she had been killed somewhere between forty and seventy two hours before she was found. And like we said. Of Her body had been burned. The community was reeling from the news of Shen's death. But no one was more devastated than her family. and. They made the following statement to the media. And here's what they said. Quote Shannon was bright artistic girl whose life became troubled within the past year. For reasons, we are still struggling to understand. We made many attempts in cooperation with her school through counseling to help her. Little victim blaming and it it feels to me. This is two thousand and it's almost like they were anticipating criticism I. Think it almost is setting up that they believe that Shannon might have. died by suicide. Yeah. Maybe they didn't know yet when they made the statement, the circumstances under which because it just seems defensive something. Exactly. Cases like vests were not common instructors and understandably everyone heard about this was shaken to the core. Who would do this to a twelve year old girl? Detectives were determined to answer that question, and luckily as they hoped, tips did start role in. Someone who had driven by Zombie land area on the night after Shannon. Had disappeared reported seeing a ninety four dodge shadow parked alongside the road not far from where Shannon's body had been found the police went back to Shannon's friends and this time they started to open up about some of Shannon's activities in the weeks prior to her murder. In some of those activities involved a much older boy that Shannon had been seeing a boy named billy Monday. And when we older, we mean significantly older because billy wasn't a boy billy was a man. He was twenty one years old and he had been quote unquote seeing Shannon for about a month and remember Shannon's twelve. So. Billy was a local around town. He was a bit of metal head and he hadn't really done much since high school and obviously police are going to look at this man who was hanging around with twelve year old girl when they found out one detail about him they knew they had to bring him in. But what was that detail? Well, Billy's mom drove in one, thousand, nine, hundred, four, dodge shadow one that matched the description of the one seen near where Shannon's body had been found. So, once his connection was made billy was brought in for questioning obviously, and it wasn't long until two more billy's friends were also brought in to the police department to be interrogated. Their names were Dave Garvey and Perry Riccardi, and both were twenty years old. And then a tale started to unravel back tober fifteenth. All three of them had been arrested for killing twelve year old Shannon. And Billy's Mugshot. He has a thin moustache short spiky hair and a hollow dead look on his face. Davis Mugshot depicts a man with a mustache, a goatee and swept back here. And another glazed look over his face. Both of these guys look literally dead inside and the police believe that Shannon had fallen into a trap set by the man who planned to rape and murder her they said quote we believe that these three guys planned to rape and kill her and that this was a kill for thrill. We believe that sometime between when they picked her up and when she was killed, they decided that they are going to rape and kill her. When LESHICA had heard about the murder of the twelve year old girl she was disturbed. Of course who wouldn't be if you heard of such a horrific crime being committed in your own backyard. But when she found out who was arrested for committing the crime. She was floored I. Really didn't know what happened I. Didn't have I. didn't feel like crying I guess into what was going on then I came more attention when it was like, okay, this remains found the viscount and it's lead. You know the suspects are. These. People I was just like Whoa the they just superior Cardi late. In the Steve Garvey Billy money I just thought they have the wrong person there's no way carry would be involved. LESHICA actually knew all three of these men. In fact, she don't billy Monday since she was Shannon's age. I laced in middle school he was heavy. But he was good friends with. My best friend's over brother, and so he would always be in the neighborhood he a couple of streets down we lived in these apartments. There was also a certain level of distinction with all the families. We kind of what I call one, another boyfriend girlfriend, but it really wasn't. Just the fact that he would come over and I would it's hair or Just hang how like I thought that was being girlfriend but you never like went out on dates. I was way too young to date anyway. Billy. Monday and Dave Garvey best friends. In fact Dave living with billy at the time the murder took place. They were all friends I. Think they were like a little bit of a click and. They were kind of like he outsiders they weren't like Gothic but. The allied heavy metal. They liked university metallica or insane clown, posse year. Dirk music's but..
