Memorial to Flight 93 Victims Is a Moving Story

"Selena, you wrote a wonderful moving remembrance of shanksville. And the passengers that fought back into the hijacking on 9 11. It was really a marvelous column. First thing I posted, maybe one of the few things I posted about 9 11 because there's a lot of imagery, but I like people to read about it. How is the reaction to that? No, I received a lot of emails, a lot of direct messages. I really wanted to focus shanksville is not far from where I live. And it's the only place on September 11th outside of New York and Washington that was hit. But there was this makeshift memorial that began because I mean, I don't know this is a fast, but I assume this happened because the family members of the men and women that were on flight 93, each brought something on September 17th when they went to visit the site and they left it there. And all that was there was some mud and some hay that they put on top of this little mound of hell that overlooked the crash site. But within days, people started coming there, sort of like a pilgrimage almost. And they left a partisan themselves there. I'm

Why the New York 9/11 Attack Hits AJ Differently to the Other Two

"Here I am and today is 9 11 and it's not easy. When this day rolls up on me, I never feel like doing much of anything to be honest. I usually wake up, I admit, I wake up too early on this day, probably three or 4 o'clock in the morning, my head just knows, and there's no getting back to sleep after that. I just, no matter how I try, I'm up. And the second I glance at the news shows, it's all about what happened on that horrible day in New York City. I know atrocities happened in D.C. and shanksville, Pennsylvania, but I gotta be really honest. I really don't think about those other two places. I guess I'm a snob. I got sympathy for those people and their families don't get me wrong. But it's just that the towers coming down seem like it took all morning to unfold. Even though it wasn't that long in between the first and the second tower, getting attacked. But The Pentagon got hit so fast and so hard and I tell you the truth, I got a hard time even seeing the plane hitting the building. I'm not saying it didn't hit it. I just can't see it clearly enough to really feel the full impact. And as for shanksville, Pennsylvania, I like the story of a bunch of guys saying, let's roll. You know, it's beautiful. I'm a writer. I get it, but that's certainly the way I'd react if I were ever on a hijacked plane, but I don't know. There's a lot to the tragedy that I don't buy with shanksville, okay? I just don't believe a plane could go down in the field and we'd see small parts of it like a wheel 5 miles away.

"I really knew. Extreme w we hardly knew because so many of us really know what we're getting when we voted for and supported george w bush revealed his true self to listen and for that. We need to be grateful. We needed to be thankful that the picture of dorian gray has come out of the closet with the separating pus and the dripping is and the fangs when george w bush are you body are you body shaming dorian gray no your character shaming george bush. That's right of course that's a few ask. It's like trying to get a chimpanzee embarrassed. But i i am attempting to shame if there is if there is a human art left inside the shell. That is george w bush. There's a single flicker of humanity. I would like to summit so that i can shame it into repentance. We'll look for first of all john. We always were. Both of us are too clever by half. You're too clever by three quarters. What we need to do is very clearly. Lay out what he said the other day so the audience because a lot of people will not have heard this ladies and gentlemen. I tweeted about this. This is shocking. This is disturbing. It's actually sickening and john. Tell my audience What they've won at the service in pennsylvania for the flight ninety three passengers who took down a plane that was headed for the us capitol or the white house. These ordinary americans knew there were throwing their lives away. They charge the cockpit and brought that plane down they brought down the terrorists. "Bush. Shanksville, Pennsylvania Here is just an excerpt of what he had to say. There is little cultural overlap between violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home. But then there's disdainful tourism. In their disregard for human life. In their determination to the file national symbols They are Children of the same foul spirit. And it is our continuing duty to confront them. Children of the same foul spirit. He's talking about the January 6th insurrectionist, even though he didn't name it and what happened on 9 11. He's drawing a direct line and certainly flight 93 was thought to be aimed at the nation's capital and January 6th. Truly did attack the capital building. Um, a lot has happened in those 20 years. It has been an incredibly difficult 20 years for this country with a recession and wars and now this pandemic. Um, but the words from the former president also indicate just how much Things have changed that. What he is saying was sort of a main line idea, or at least an ideal probably not realized 20 years ago, but now it's almost controversial, at least in some parts of his own party. Yes and the but his position about domestic terrorism versus terrorism abroad is also reflected among many Americans right in the NPR PBS news hour poll. More Americans said they were worried about extremism in the United States than from abroad. And then there was an AP poll also out in August. Same thing where larger percentage of Americans said, I'm much more worried about what's going on here than being attacked by extremists from overseas. And yes to Tam's point. It is, um you know this. This moment we had in 9 11. This moment we thought was going to be unity. And instead we've seen all these big other big events. Lead us to more polarization. Solemn. Very Amy. Walter. Tamara Keith. Thank you both welcome. Saturday marked the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on that day and for weeks after first responders at the World Trade Center work to clear rubble and a search for remains. Many were stricken with debilitating illness, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD. I'm going to bars has more on the challenger's first responders are still facing, but let's start by hearing from some of them in their own words. Brought to us by the Dorney couple Foundation. It was very, very bad. It was like a sandstorm. I've been in sandstorms. It was like that you couldn't see three or four ft. In front of you. It's a two weeks. For that bus to get out of my work boots. I went home and my teeth felt like I was had send in my mouth. I was blowing my nose for weeks and blood was coming out of it. But I just kept going back. And then I was every night for three months. After the twin towers went down. That area was a disastrous area, and it wasn't enough. Uh, for the people they were living or working there, and I was there every day. Your quality wasn't When it should have been. We all knew it. In spite of what we were told, we went in anyway, I think the environmental Department of Environmental Protection came out and said to the air is fine. It's healthy to breathe. Don't worry about the air. They told us the I was clean. That it was okay. They so everything will be all right, you know, and everything wasn't all right. We all knew the site was contaminated, No matter what. What Government agency said it wasn't it was safe. That was not true. We all knew it all. The first responders knew it. And all of us just knew that we weren't safe, but, uh, you know, we did our job. It took a few years. I started to notice that I couldn't um, go as long Like, say, walking or running because I love sports. And, uh, I should. I noticed that my breathing was slowing down. Then I was fooling myself because I think there was nothing wrong and I just take some time off from work. A year later. Two years later, I started to realize that it's not going away. It's not getting any better. When the doctor told me your COPD as what's that I had no clue what it was and to explain it to me. I can't even wash my own cars Now. I used to wash my own car. I used to rake my own leaves. Keep my house nice and neat. I can't do any of that. Now, if it's under 20 degrees out, I can't go out to like my house because it feels like I'm inhaling broken glass. I can't. I can't play sports no more. Seeing people in and around, bypassed by See him on the field from the football around. Run. Uh, One day. I'm hoping to have grandchildren. I want to be able to do that with them. But who knows what it holds? There's more information about those suffering from this disease at COPD. S O s dot org. A COPD is just one of many illnesses plaguing first responders since the attacks of 9 11 among the initial first responders and those who worked or lived in the area more than 4600 have died since that day. It's still not clear how many of those deaths were linked to exposure at the attack sites. For weeks and months afterward, since 9 11 more than 80,000 responders have sought medical help for a closer look, I'm joined by Dr Steven Markowitz for eight years,.

"Of today's news. Here's dr sebastian. Gorka and i watched this may choose a not. One person spoke about the fact that three days ago we fled afghanistan and we left americans behind and others to and was eighty five billion dollars worth of the best equipment ever made to ever thought of this. A five year old would have said the military goes out last. And that's what they wanted. They couldn't believe they were leaving. Gross incompetence gross incompetence and a five year old would have done better that was president trump on the twentieth anniversary. September the eleventh. He didn't go to the democrats. Only commemoration with biden with obama with clinton where biden made no speech. He went to see the people that matter. He went to see the f. d. n. y. And the nypd. Let's talk to our first guest of the day. The author most recently of the sex novel in the kelly term bill series. It's cold split. We call him. Colonel k townhall dot com senior contributor. Cut short del. Welcome back to american. I thank you dr gorka here. I am in my my law cave. You're you're in your bat cave. You are decontaminating tanks as we speak. he's taking a break. He didn't come to our town hall yesterday. Shame on him no seriously he had family business to take care of next time he will be that. We'll talk about california the big decision tomorrow. But i i gotta get your reaction just the juxtaposition of these mosques. Democrats in this circle fast together with no republicans. Invited rudy giuliani not invited and then mild boasts going through the nypd man. Did they love him or what cut. Oh well that is very refreshing to see the actual heroes of nine eleven Honored as opposed to a bunch of people honoring themselves and i'm not sure what they were honoring themselves for since they have pretty much an unbroken track record of failure But you know doctor. Gore guy was less angry at the three democrats than i was at Alleged republican george bush. Okay okay hugely important. Let's let's play this. I wanted to get to it later. Let's do it right now. So this is the man who i don't know he he he he's meant to be a conservative He was a republican president. He went to shanksville pennsylvania to the field where flight ninety three crashed off to those brave brave men took it back from the territory. Terrorists to save lives in dc and this is what he said on the twentieth anniversary of nine eleven. This is the man who was president. When nine eleven happened cut to play cup little cultural overlap between violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home. But then there's disdainful pluralism in their disregard for human life in their determination to defile national symbols. They are children of the same foul spirit and it is our continuing duty to confront them. Children of the same foul spread so nine eleven bin laden and maga- supporters are the same but lemon antiques. Don't get a mention your action cuddle. Why are they got was the most disgusting thing i i. I've seen in years. You know. I supported that guy. I had his back when he wouldn't defend himself because he was a gentleman. Dr gorka and is soon as it became clear that he's useless brother. Please clap. jeb. Of was not going to get our support because of his unbroken tracker failure George bush discovered his voice and decide to use it against the very same people who supported him. What i'm the marxist. But it's becoming clear that class that is the guys who hang out at the country club seems to take priority over actual policies. I i'm so disgusted by this guy. This is so bankrupt. Guy went off to war for his father. I deployed under him I was a loyal supporter and be charged with his blood. Libel this disgusting slander. Because you know he didn't have to say we all knew what he means. You can see the giggling liberal blue checks on twitter knowing exactly what he that was just appalling. I would like to see this guy go away. Maybe go back to taxes. Pay more crappy watercolors. The guys helped maim through incompetence. I don't care what he does. But if i never see him again it's to him and haunted by it and can do a portrait of each other. We're talking to follow him at kerch. The author most recently of the split and also the nonfiction work the twenty biggest lines about donald trump. and you. can. I not trying to spin this. But i'm thinking of another angle is a positive way to look at that truly disgusting un-american dispe that's what let me just be clear here that's worse than hillary clinton and the basket of deplorables. She didn't actually. She didn't call half america terrorist like bin laden. that's what bush just did terrorists. Children of the hateful ideologies. Is this a good moment in terms of it allows everyone to see who the gop establishment. Really i'll cut well dr gorka. We're seeing a lot of moments of clarity. We saw long in a clarity in afghanistan. We saw a moment of clarity about a week or two ago when biden or whoever you know. The japan does polling this. Pinocchio strings fired everybody on a bunch of neutral boards of like they Military academy this right. This is supposed to be a bipartisan. We all work together thing now. He fired a ball. And and then this into becoming harder and harder to pretend that There's there's that we're back in the old days that the old rules still apply in that. There aren't a whole set of new rules. Now i look at this. And i i i. Frankly see an opportunity. I don't want it. I prefer not to have it. But i think it's important that we enforce them. I think it's important that it'd be because there's no chance on getting back to something like we allegedly had before Which was never as strong as we thought. It was evidently If the people are rewarded for breaking the new york's networks. So i i look forward to the next president whether it's president trump president to santa's or someone else On january twentieth out. One o'clock firing every allegedly nonpartisan of biden employees or nominee uncut on every board then. The generals take channels. You you fire them at twelve a. One yeah cut. We're gonna keep you ever for one more segment but we've got ninety seconds left urine california. I was in california yesterday. What's your gut about tomorrow's ga- gavin. You simmons nancy. Pelosi is nephew in trouble or not It's important to go out and vote and make your voice heard. If i had to bet i would bet that gavin newsom gonna win. Is it because of mass cheating. Now it's because california is a plus twenty nine democrat..

"Over the weekend if you watch the solemn proceedings and shanksville. Your concerns grew about the infirmity of president biden. And i believe that. Those concerns are now feeling concerns. The effort to get americans and afghans allies out of afghanistan will falter because it draws attention to the president. And they're doing everything they can to get attention off of the president. Do you think he's infirm. One eight hundred five two one two three four. I do not believe dementia. I do not believe alzheimer's. I just think he's very much evidencing. His almost seventy nine years and that this is hurting america. Badly the news out of afghanistan with terrible all weekend long that toledo's announced new rules for female students. Republican Governors Infuriated by Biden's Vaccine Mandates

"The new vaccine mandates that president biden announced last week will affect about one hundred million americans all told and while it seems that many americans agree with the president. There's also been a significant backlash with some gop. Governors vowing legal action and other top republicans calling for a public uprising. Margaret talev is managing editor for politics. At axios hi margaret hi. How striking is this reaction. We've seen especially over the past few days from republicans. The republican governors in states like florida and states like texas. They're responding to the gop base that is strikingly on the side of the the freedom not to be vaccinated the freedom to work in a place where your boss can't tell you what to do and it is that question. Mark about the most vulnerable districts for democrats that is really driving this push by republican politicians to jump all over joe biden for these mandates. The argument is that it is an issue of personal freedom or of medical choice. Of course americans who aren't comfortable with taking a shot have the right to speak out against it and have the right to resist. The question is what's the breaking point between free speech. You know civil disobedience and a threat to the nation a threat to national security violation of the law right and former president bush compared those threats to national security that you're talking about with the terrorism that took place on nine eleven at an anniversary ceremony and shanksville pennsylvania on saturday little culture overlap between violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home. But then there's disdainful pours in their disregard for human life and their determination to defile national symbols. They are children of the same foul spirit and it is our continuing duty to confront them.

It started for Tim Lambert is an overwhelming news day. A friend had called him at home, waking him up and he said, Tim, get up and turn on your television. Something's happening in New York. After glancing at the images of the twin towers, Tim rushed to his car and headed to work. He was just starting out as a part time reporter at Wptf in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The same station were several years later. We became colleagues and friends when I went to work there, too. During that, Dr Tim listen for updates on the radio and I might have been around the Dell Zberg, your county area. And I heard that a plane had gone down. In Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Other reports but the crash just outside of Shanksville. Tim knew Shanksville. In fact, he owned land there passed down from his grandfather to his father to him, but he didn't have time to think about it. He spent all day chasing local angles. It was past one in the morning when Tim finally made it home. He saw that his answering machine was blinking. It was his dad and I got a message from him on my voice mail. That's a give me a call. Tim's dad said he had been watching the news All day about the crash near Shanksville. He'd studied the video of the smoldering crater and the burnt line of trees over and over. And then he said, this I think those trees are ours. Tim wasn't convinced. But three weeks later, the phone rang. It was the Somerset County coroner. And I'm actually going to have Tim tell you in the next part of this story, because, as a journalist, he was facing a pretty unique situation. So Yeah, I was relatively new to W I t F And when the corner Wally Miller called, he confirmed to put my dad already knew. Our land was part of the crash site, and it was considered a crime scene. In the interest of disclosure. I told him I was a reporter. His reply still makes me shake my head. What are you going to do? Report on yourself? And I was like, Well, yeah, maybe I'm not really sure. He simply said, You can do what you want. I'm not going to stop you. It's your land. A few days later, I drove to Shanksville bringing along my dad to family, friends and another Wbtv reporter. I also packed my audio kit. When we got to the crash site, I got out of.

And I will say that is a similar theme to what we heard in the pre recorded video message that President Biden released yesterday. It's certainly what we heard in former President George W. Bush's remarks, but I also I guess, interpret in this appeal to unity kind of indirect reference to the disunity in the country. Right now. "Stones to stand up to china if they suddenly decide. They're going to invade taiwan. This is also where the biden family and specifically hunter biden. And and this is where it really starts to matter. Because they're just symbolic. I think well more than that. There at the with hunter biden if they could argue there at the center of it but of the betrayal by the elites of america the betrayal of the american people in order to have access to chinese markets. And let's be honest access to chinese communist party cash in one form or another. This has been a standing story. It has been a sell-out of folks who are just working doing their jobs paying their mortgages sending their kids to school and try to enjoy this place. We know of his america. They've been sold out by the elites of their own country to china more than any other country on earth. And we're just now. I think in that early stage process of waking up to it and understanding what those long term implications will be. I just think of it this way. One point four billion people. This is what xi jinping is saying This is a country that knows. It is ascendant and it's politics it's shorts authoritarian but it's also unified. You're not gonna have anybody. Standing up represents china at the olympics. I can assure you. And turning their back on the flag or saying china and this is a country with actual concentration camps operating. you'll have no athletes over there talking about the lack of freedom or anything else and we all know why there's no doubt and and by the way. Let's play that eleven. There would never be anybody as we get ready. For the olympics there would never be a hammer thrower like gwen berry. Who by the way you saw. This book had a picture of herself bathed in the american flag just a few years ago now. She was the one who was so angry about the national anthem. Being racist. listen to this. She would never be allowed to say this about china history. If you know your history you know the full song of the national anthem. The dr paragraphs sleeps. The slaves in america are blood moon slang and pilfered all over. The floor is disrespectful and it does not speak for black. Americans is obvious not surprisingly. She got the history wrong in fact if you talk to most historians who have analyzed francis. Scott key's majestic poem there. He was talking about british impressment of american soldiers not slavery in the united states. But it's not a surprise that she would fall victim to the predominant view that has spread throughout social media and happens to be wrong.
