I am sitting next to ed set in our the superintendent of the Port Authority police department now for those around the country who are listening the Port Authority police protects Kennedy airport Newark airport LaGuardia airport the ports the crossings the bridges and tunnels coming into New York from New Jersey to New York ed said nor is the highest ranking first responder ailing from a serious nine eleven illness is such correctional the prior to me coming to the Port Authority in two thousand fourteen as deputy superintendent I was in New Jersey state trooper and on nine eleven I was sent on a specialized team of basically have rescue folks over by the governor jurors to assist the folks in New York fast forward all those years two and a half years ago I was diagnosed with stage four cancer renal cancer as a result of my work at nine eleven on the pile your fifty six years old let's go back to September eleventh eighteen years ago you were there that day yes and you were there for how long we state police in New Jersey had a posture there for days and weeks ahead of time the mission that I was I was in acting sergeant at the time in charge of our teams unit which was our swat heavy rescue on the water search recovery we're specialize unit that did all those different components for just a New Jersey so obviously we have the capability of heavy rescue so we were sent over there and then in between our mission on the pile we would be back in New Jersey executing search warrants whatever else was required of us to do our job because as you can imagine the FBI investigation that was going on right now there was a lot of things that we had to execute New Jersey also because some of the hijackers hi proximity in New Jersey where were you when you first found out what had happened that day eight. ten years ago I remember like it was yesterday I was standing in troop C. Princeton headquarters which was the troop headquarters building for our troopers assigned to my unit and somebody came up stairs and told us that a plane just hit the World Trade Center and you know probably like most people we thought it might have been just a paper plane or something that was on the air space so by the time we walked downstairs into our lieutenants office the second plane had hit the tower we knew right then that this was not you know Piper playing that this was a terrorist attack immediately and what happened then what were you thinking then we're a country at war we've just been attacked and that was before we knew everything else is going on at the Pentagon and as things continue to escalate you know things got heightened even more when you arrived on the scene what did you say complete disbelief avoid was one standing there to to structure standing there and now they were nothing but rubble during the time you spend at ground zero did it ever cross your mind this could be unsafe because week after nine eleven the EPA I could remember this like it was yesterday the headline in the New York Post the EPA says the air is safe everyone now you were already there as a first responder but everyone else went back to work went back to school went back to their lives. did you at any point thank this is really not healthy down here you know at at that point I I know that thought never crossed my mind because we were being told quite often that everything's okay and you know obviously we were entrusting the folks that were there the doctors medical staff there what we're inhaling then what you're dealing with and what you were involved with as far as touching and you know cutting stealing climbing into voids in trying to do all types of different things you know that you know what never crossed my mind at the time because it was a mission in jail and that was hopefully to recover some folks and find some people you know on fourteen may have been buried so that thought never crossed my mind when it finally hit me was when I was given the news that for fifteen years or so I had this tumor growing inside me that now has metastasized because of the contaminants down to ground zero I am speaking with dead set in our he is the head of the Port Authority police department and he is the highest ranking first responder with the nine eleven cancers that has come public because there are a lot of other people who were elves and have not come forward you were diagnosed two and a half years ago with stage four cancer what were your symptoms I got a pain one day in my left side thought nothing of it so maybe I twisted something maybe you know a muscle just a sore muscle after a couple days the pain didn't subside and I knew was just at that point different than a normal stretcher or pain or strain or something like that I went to a doctor they sent me to emergency room dating xray than they did a cat scan and then they gave me the news of what had happened absolute disbelief that you know all this time has went on and I had no symptoms leading up to and then all of a sudden it hit me and it hit me hard and what it did to the inside of my body now I'm what I'm dealing with every day I've been lucky I've been health. in my entire life I was very active doing what I had to do and you know with the mindset that I had to you know always you'll be strong continue on fight fight fight and this was just an obstacle that now I've been confronted with that I have to continue on with and it's life impacting not because there's there's no hair hiding the fact that this is very very serious so I continue on every day doing my job and you know hopefully protecting men women of New York and New Jersey and the people that come through here and the men and women of the Port Authority police department so I'm very passionate about not only this because of with nine eleven in continue remembrance of the families in the sick folks that continue to come up each and every day myself included that we can never forget and that's the big and can never forget the sacrifice that everybody has made how do you live your life differently knowing you have stage four cancer you know that that's a great question because people ask me that all the time all the same why do you still work and why do you do this and you know a sense of normalcy there's a purpose and you know I consider myself very lucky to be in the position I'm in and to do something I'm very passionate about and you know I have good days and bad days but you know I persevered I keep pushing throw in you know I'm very optimistic that I can we'll continue on I'm doing very well right now with my treatments and you know I just continue on like you know put as much normalcy in my life as I can and we try to live one day at a time and not look too far forward but it is very very it's like faltering because the family knows you know there's only certain things I can do and I can't do right now for between fatigue in your treatments and things like that so we do the best we can to continue to move on as normal as possible are you scared more in shock of what I'm going through and the unknown of what's going to happen because what I have right now my. the cancer statistics are not favorable but I look at it as okay maybe I could be the one maybe I'm not one person that you know this treatment will you know help me and give me long jeopardy in my life and that's what I I look at longevity in my life and quality of life are you angry or do you have regrets about doing what you did at ground zero never never date was you know wouldn't change anything would not change that as you know as a police officer as a state trooper at the time and as an American that was my job that's what I was trained to do and I was sent over there to do a mission and I led a group of men over there that you know we went in there we knew our capabilities as having rescue personnel what we had to do and anytime anybody asked me a question my emphatic answers now yes am I going to pay the price absolutely I'm gonna pay the price probably sooner than I would have expected but yes every single first responder I talk to says to me now and this is changed over the years because I've been talking about this issue for ten eleven years it's not a question of if I will get ill it's a question of when I will get ill and they are great fall if it's only a respiratory illness or if it's only a digestive issue because everyone who was there feels like you're looking over their shoulders thinking that cancer is coming along and and what's so scary is that I'm hearing your story over and over again that. at the time of diagnosis it's already stage for these nine eleven cancers are cancers on steroids statistics correct me if I'm wrong. there are currently two twenty two hundred Port Authority police officers. there are two thousand Port Authority police officers both retired and current who are currently ailing from nine eleven illnesses yes that's in this downloading figure and I hear the same thing from the New York police department and the FDNY the fire department of New York it's astounding number and like the numbers you said you know the Port Authority is charged with protecting obviously the World Trade Center that's responsibility of our police department and the men and women that both right now active and retired that were there during the nine eleven as you said the numbers keep growing and you know we've lost several more since that day the police department unfortunately holds the record of losing thirty seven officers in one day that's a record no police department ever wants to have and you know unfortunately folks as they continue to move on with their disease or whatever their illnesses you know we're starting to face more more people that are reaching you know their demise but the support network things that you do things that you know Jon Stewart is done just unbelievable what people do for us and we cannot thank them enough for reminding people that there are still hundreds of thousands of people out there that are very sick as a.

"Fought back Trump today speaking at Shanksville, Pennsylvania the field where flight ninety three went down when yes they did fight back. They knew what was going on. They knew what the stakes were. And they fought back. Of course, it is nine eleven I'm asking the question eight I wanna hear from you about what have you learned since then in seventeen years on? Our our our footprint, not carbon footprint, but our footprint militarily has gotten bigger. We're now in places we never thought we would be and we as a country have given up certain things in hope that we're going to be safer. What have we learned one thing that I think a lot of people started to wake up to is that that that there's radicalism that is very real. And I've said all along it is a it's a culture clash, you know, just culture clash and culture, clashes are very very, very real. Well, the people want to believe it or not they're very real. And in our politically correct world that we live in. Will you can't say anything to anybody about anything because the social jihadis will come out of the woodwork, and they will attack you at just it's time. I'm gonna attack you because you said this because I can now label you because the first thing they any of these groups do they label you right? So you're a racist. You're Islamic phobe or nationalist. You're a Nazi your fascist. Your whatever it is that they can throw at you, right, homophobic, transphobic because then they can what do they do at that point in time. They feel they've painted you into a corner, and then they can surround you with their posse. And then just unload and for a lot of people. It's the Alamo, right? You're just you're trying to defend off all of this stuff. Now, I look back, and I've said along it's a culture clash the west is going through a culture class, not just America. But. France. Gentleman's right. The Italians the British. Sweden, norway. Right. Most of Scandinavia is going through culture clash right now. Because of all of the things that have happened. We've seen a flooding of people coming over some of them running for their lives and just one a better opportunity, but a majority of them coming over, and they feel disenfranchised and at the same time they want to be who they were. They just want to do it in other places. You know, we look at the Scandinavian model for socialism. It's the model for socialism. It's the greatest thing in the world. This is what it is. We should be more like them there. You look at them. They talk about a non diversity, right? Talk about you look at that. So you should be less diverse monolithic society where it's just pretty much. You know, what's wonderful, all these great things. A natural. Again, look at them. We we are amazing in many ways because we're diverse. Right. But I always look at diversity weird way. Tucker Carlson got himself into some hot water with laugh, which is not a shock because you open up your mouth and your anywhere on the right? You're gonna get yourself in hot water because they're looking to to catch you in something no matter what it is. And and he came out, and he said something, which is just outraged outraged the left how precisely is diversity our strength. Can you think for example of other institutions, such as I don't know marriage or military units in which the less people have in common? The more cohesive. They are do you get along better with your neighbors. Your co workers if you can't understand each other or share no common values. I still scream right? First of all diversity should be first and foremost organic force diversity for the sake of diversity doesn't work. It doesn't. Secondly. And I think this is something vitally important that a lot of Europe is finding out now. It's not you. It's them. They have to want it. They have to want it. If you don't want to assimilate into a culture, you're going to struggle. The problem is the west in the political correctness has now tried to say, don't worry. You don't have to assimilate. You don't have to do any of those things we will bend over backwards to make your stay here as comfortable as possible. And if you dare say anything like this is ridiculous. Why do I always have to press one for English? You get labeled. There.

"Look, I'm not gonna do a minute by minute hurricane update here thing. But for people in the in the line of fire, this thing, believe me don't doubt me every morsel of information matters it helps determine whether they're going to leave. Whether they're going to stay any any number of things the latest is that it's slowing down. And is now going to not make landfall till Friday. Now that could be good. If it dumps a lot of its strength over the ocean. Dumps a lotta rain over the ocean. If that stall, if it if it actually stalls over the ocean, would it be a great thing as a hurricane expert and veteran that would be fabulous. If it dumped its load offshore if at different stalled there. And in the process weakened that that would be pretty good thing to to hope for. Nine eleven. I'm wondering, ladies and gentlemen, if there be any NFL players or other celebrities today kneeling. Anywhere. Do you hope not? What a day to speak up for social Justice nine eleven New York. Reading the names of those who died Pentagon Ditto the protest the flag. And who is it that died in many cases, it was policemen and firemen of all races sexes. Creeds religions planets. Do name it. So I don't know if Nike has a special commercial to hit the day probably would have heard about it by now, if they did as I mentioned, President Trump went to Shanksville, Pennsylvania. This is where flight ninety three was commandeered by the passengers and flown into the ground. It was due to head back to Washington. The believed target was a little White House or Capitol Hill. But the passengers bravely took control the plan got in a fight with terrorists aboard and successfully crashed it into a plane into a field of western Pennsylvania. Which is where President Trump was today have to tell you his speech has been getting rave reviews from across the spectrum. We have two soundbites here VR me piece of America's heart is buried on these grounds. But in its place has grown a new resolve to live our lives with the same grace and courage as the heroes a flight ninety three his field is now a monument to American defiance. This memorial is now a message to the world America will never ever submit to.
