"That's why I could see somebody reading echoing. You call that low fantasy. Jesus Christ James Order. You kidding me. You know that's it's lower it's lower and it's not that much different than like a gnome tinker or something like that in dnd game. I would assume but it could be any. It could be affected by the race. There are races in the low fantasy gaming and I don't remember what they do because almost everyone. I've only have people play humans in every class character that I made for my one shot. Games are humans but there's different Cultures in the Midlands that give You know different aspects of the characters that is is pretty cool and I mean you can add that stuff. It exists in there but It feels more like the concept of Mosser's are truly monsters except you have the bee's men the scorn that exists which are kind of can fulfil all of those other things ORCs knowles. It can fulfill all of those you can have him. Look however you want we talk about low fantasy for me and Sean. I've had this discussion debate on the show before and other people weighed in. Sometimes when we say low fans people are looking agitated is what you really mean there. Sir Yes rump. In in this case magic is scary. It's not that common and when I looked at you know the healing being the match the wizard the magic user spells and so forth the other thing I liked within the the free version was reading his like. Hey look you're potions and stuff. You're one shot one. Use Magic Items Those. You're gonNA find more often than the. Plus Three flame tongue blade. That's not common at all. You're gonNA find more one shoddy type stuff. Is that how you're again? I have not read the Deluxe version. You have that is that does that carry over to there and is that how it plays. When you're when you're running at same same type of feel yes I have not used any magical stuff at all other than like the equipment that comes with the classes I have I have not given any magic. Weapons No wands rods or staves. Because is your stingy liquors because probably a little bit. But what measures need it though? The thing Dallas gas because when I read it on my It's it's telling you basically when I read it like you don't need a lot of this stuff and this this is these are fun to have kind of trash keys or there. It's a big damn deal when you find a big thing. But I didn't see partially through like I said the free version. I'm like Oh there's nothing must have magic. Weapons to hit must have plus better. I don't see anything like that so to your point. You don't really need it. You don't need heat. He does he did. Put out the companion book He's added like masterwork stuff and some different things like that. That it's sort of you know you can consider. Ataman tight weapons. I don't know if that's in there but it's the same kind of concept from other. Dnd Games that use masterwork or high quality. That would give you a bonus or something. It's not magical but it's finally made of meteoric iron or something crazy so you get the data deal got it okay. So that doesn't that feels like that would play in pretty well to the low fantasy. Feel right where you still you fantastical things happening but this is not a not calling. Notions are calling lightning. But I'm not something you free. There's I'm not wish spelling. I'm not summoning Neil. The will the gods. There's big blast of turning on dead and some of the epic if you will perhaps as a good phrase some of the Big Bang Magic's in your Dandy and pathfinder some of those deaths just not here and you don't need it for House working it does He. He has like in a deluxe version. Changed the name of the spells to be have more of a kind of narrative flair to them like magic. Missile is called like unlit unerring leash shift pain or A Arcane a guess is like a shield spell and there's a slumbering type of spell for sleep and to be honest. I haven't seen a lot of that used at this point so I don't I don't really I don't know that deep I haven't looked at far But like in a couple of things you say. Dc has it's like hey it it has it's gone so magic components in charts and lists of. Hey you tried to cast a spell you turn into a chicken. I mean crazy crazy. Wildness can occur. Look jetson battles all sorts of what I would call very gone. Zoey stuff which is fun. It's it's crazy fun. This is again a different type of fund where you're not going to have that earthshaking magic and if you do ever shaking magic it feels to me like that would remind me of the older sword and sorcery that original kind of appendix feeling. That's the thing I'm fighting. I'm trying to stop the evil priestess from unleashing the horde. I'm trying to stop this thing from happening. You know Blah Blah Blah. That's where Oh my God. It's it's a big damn deal in you. Don't sit there and go Hakko Morton. Canaan has just wish him away what why? Why do I shit right? Yeah so it does have the dangerous darkened dangerous magic aspect to it right so every time you cast a spell you're gonNa roll what your dd am is. It starts at one and so every time you say I'm going to cast a spell you're GonNa roll a d twenty and if you hit that or below it then you roll on the dark and dangerous magic table and every time you cast a spell that's going to go up until it happens dear threshold will go up and then when you hit it now you roll on the table and some crazy ass shit can happen Like in the play tests for the adventure that Sean went through it was tim's Shane Courtney. Campbell I can't even think of who else maybe lert. The beautiful was in that game. I don't know if you've played with you or not but anyway there were some guys who played in that. When Courtney cast a spell a like this demon came out through the Vale is what they use and then they ran from it and then it ended up attacking some other stuff and but it was a lotta crazy stuff can happen on the dark and dangerous magic but it's all dangerous right. It's not like wow. That was a super huge benefits. I act- I accidentally cast a four times damage fireball. No accidentally summoned as a thaw. Who came through in Torpedo? Solway or something. So yes yes. The other thing that this reminds me of when I when I think low fantasy I think really and so forth The injuries and setbacks in the way you die in this game one thing that I found very interesting was like look. If you're down you check to see if the PC is dead after the fight is over you see. You could be lugging around. You know I can be lugging around. Hobbs characters body you know for the rest of the fight went is finally done we go over there and Sean. Okay Check Shit. He's dead now that we can do. It's kind of like the role the body in dungeon crawl classics again. Which a lot of people like. And but when it does it's not it could still be bad like your arm could have been chopped off or the character is not something you're going to be able to play after this you've got every on the twenty at here and the free one you've got like I. Injury FESTERING WOUND HEAD. Injury Muscle tear Damaged item damaged armor. The you know. Minor scar system shock sprained ankle. It's all stuff that's bad it. It Shit you've gotta deal with. It's not like you. Well thank God. I'm not dead you pop back up at one point. You're ready to rock you pop back up with a problem broken ribs. I've had broken ribs. That sucks right and does suck guys on. Everything's fine with breathing breathing. Talking moving any you know looking at people sternly at all hurts. I the other piece. I found that I liked about again. The low perspective it takes away the high-powered magic. It takes away. The rapid healing. Great Envy hurt or something bad happens like a bad magic happens and makes you think twice do I do. I CAST SPELL AGAIN. Have Been Pretty Shitty night do it. For God's sakes would you do I suck it? I can see that argument at the table when you beat down. And you've been in sixteen fights that that session and the fighters like I'm done. I have a festering wound. Got A head injury muscle tear. My ribs are broken Eh. My swords busted. Fuck fuck is going down. You know you have a reason to go back you know. It's it's lower in that regard which I think is is then speaks back to the title of the game which is really cool. Yeah it's a greedy. It's a it has a grittiness to it. But it's not overdone from like a a shits on of critical hit charts or It feels like it would play very fast. That was a piece that Sean mentioned to me. When I asked about the first how how slow how fast it blaze in Sean. You said no it moved along you know it does get bogged down in a lot of nuance and and you know. You're not rolling. Yeah and a lot of crazy table so critical if you roll Twenty you just do Max damage right then in there and it's right on your character sheet as soon as it rolls a twenty. It just puts that damage right in there so in nineteen. I'm sorry. Nineteen nineteen it gives a like whatever weapon you're using does special things it's a monster for natural nineteen does special things. Yeah that's another. That's a cool point right. Your Natural Nineteen National Twenty. Both of those numbers have something cool. Which makes me smile because nineteen is. Oh so close to the twenty even though it's just a one in twenty chance every time but it's still feel like you're right on the costs something you'll should happen so close yes something cooled. Us happen. I like the fact that when I look at the skill list which is not a really old school of us are thing that there's no skills right or You did the original boxes and stuff didn't have this but when we start looking at it's a it's a short list and one of the things I like. Is that the attribute numbers matter talked about this before other people have to wear in the number of games. You basically you're attribute stat just chasing the plus right so I've got. I've got a seventeen so I need to get nineteen in nineteen gives me a plus for why do I worry about the seventeen to.

"Moving through that. I realized that that was a really big thing for me. Was these these relationships that you had no idea if there was real foundation and you had no idea who to trust. Was that more from the second time that you played or did you have that from both strays enough. It was from both times and I think to go back to what you said about. That guilt is like I remember coming back and like really feeling so proud of the way I played in like Shane who I was pretty close with like I remember how much Shane gave me. A hard time You know about winning and how now such Dick for doing it and As interesting time please. I hope you know I'm not saying that. It wasn't amazing experience. I'm so grateful for anybody's getting that. Yeah I just wouldn't I just don't have any interest in returning to that. It was a hell of the second time was not nearly as much fun. And maybe that's because I don't think I think I think it was just like an in. You can speak to this to rob is like the second time you play. Everybody knows there's Cameras Jon Ward Camera. People are are. It's less about kind of that. Swiss family Robinson Adventure And or about like playing this game and then playing up your character camera. Listen I definitely didn't have as much fun the second time that I played. So you don't need to hear me. You know I have heard this phenomenon. I see this phenomenon where that the cast of the different seasons seem like they're all getting together like on a zoom call and having like these unofficial reunions. Has there been any talk about the survivor. Panama cast having some sort of a virtual reunion. There has not been I mean I. I can't imagine that ever happened with our cast. Neither there are certain people in our cast to get along great but it would be really hard to imagine getting more than four or five people together and it all being copacetic. Yeah Yeah it because it was such a divided season. Yeah I mean divers I could see. Yeah I mean like you just have some really big personalities right. Like chain Courtney and Serena Room together. We'll he's actually a really calming force. You put Shane Courtney and who who else by Bob dog in a room together. And you're going to get you're GONNA get fireworks that gets going to happen. It's going to be great season. Exactly exactly I wonder though because I think that some of these seasons where you know. Oh where like one big happy family this season. Do you think does that have anything to do with is it? The winner is at the conditions. Is it like the the overall twists in the game? Do you think that there's one factor in particularly I do and they actually shared this with me? My second season is that so much of the jury is related to the first person that gets to the jury. Okay at person really sets the tone for like the level of bitterness. The mayor of Ponderosa sets the tone for the season typically. Yes if it's a really bitter jury I'm sorry but you're not getting a zoom meet up in two months after the season hold on now. Does that mean that we are getting a survivor? Blood vs water. Meet up then I I mean I could see that happening. Yes you're the you're the mayor the jury right. Yeah I could see that happening. I think we all all get along pretty well. I just don't think again I just don't think like even in that season I just don't see any of US needing to connect. I love all the people I was out there with. But I don't need to sit with everyone in relive what it was like on the island when we were like intentionally designed to not get along together because this set of personalities will be toxic. And that's the job of casting right like that's what they're supposed to do like figure out how to create a toxic situation Mac drama. It's GonNa be fun to watch. Grab our popcorn. Sit on the couch and think At least at least my life's not like that. Yeah I mean I. It's hard to imagine i. So maybe it's not just the mayor. Maybe it's also like maybe casting did a bad job and that's an maybe like the the the the season that all get along. Maybe it's because casting a bad job. Yeah maybe this gets really well because they all got that family visit like I don't know but I do think that the first person in the jury definitely decides how bitter that jury is going to be. Yeah it makes me a little bummed out that I played on a season. That is not particularly close. Like I I got this more when we went to the ten year anniversary. And we're you there that night for the third and felt like Oh look oh look this whole group of people hanging out together on this group like they had dinner before and we had like four people there Yeah no I felt the same way like when I see the dirty thirty. I'm like man that would be amazing to be really close with with but I'm not I'm not really I don't want to like pretend you know. I am close with certain people on my Casper. Sure but not everyone. Okay let me ask you about this. Extortion advantage which came up This week for came in from the edge of extinction. Did you like seeing something like that in the game ours You know what like at this point yes I I would just like to see them play survivor and see who can play at this. Like the way they've set it up with so many twists and turns. Can you really tell me that? Whoever wins this game cannot say that they directly one from luck and circumstance at this point Like every plan in any of these castaways strategy is foiled by all these strange twists and turns from abuse perspective. It's really fun but the to be out there playing. I mean Jesus it's like he at a certain point you just gotTa surrender and what was so great about this week's episode where that for the first time in. I don't remember how long that we had like a legitimate like big move. That happened in the game that had nothing to do with idols advantages or anything and yes we had the extortion disadvantage for. Tony played but it really ended up just being more of like a character seen for Tony more so than something that directly affected the game play too much and I it was just really really fun to watch how that all came together without any sort of like Trinkets being used in the banks. Yeah it was great. It was a great episode. I mean it was an amazing episode. Also I have a question about this episode that I'm really unclear about yes. How did Tony Play? Repaying his tokens. We don't know we don't know did he did he. Give the Tokens to. I didn't see the problem. I think that his debt with Jeremy Is Square. I think that it wasn't score when they got back to the island from the challenge. Yeah Yeah right so like Tony or or Jeremy. You'll pay up. What is telling you do or like did someone not ask them to pay up right away. Like I'm really curious how that all went down because I feel like that would impact your ability to move to vote. The person that you stole the fire token to Matt's I was thinking I was like. Let's move Sandra exactly. Yeah but I'm curious as to how that played out but I guess we won't know until the end of the season okay. I want to ask you about one of the things that we saw in this week's episode where I think a lot of people wanna hear you away in on. We had our very first ever. I guess they must have known you were coming on the show. This week. The survivor fashion show was here. Let's hear a little bit of a wear a Sarah got the idea for launching her own clothing line..

"It's an opportunity to get to know a city, not just living like a local but doing things like them. I'm big fan of it is something that's forcing me to kind of step out of my comfort zone, and try things around the city like I was looking at the website and LA you can do all sorts of things you could do like a tour around LA in an airplane. There's one guy that was offering for you to ride in his motorcycle sidecar. So there's a lot of experiences available in L A. But the experience that I chose was to play with rescued horses myself, Shane, Courtney and another co worker we all went there. The lady greeted us right at the front, and she's like, well, let's go meet the horses. There's a lot of horses that it may be been abused in the past, and they basically rescued these horses. So now they just get to eat and play and, and be cute. Cute. Little. Title equestrian boys before we played with them, we actually got to take care of them got their food. We cleaned out their pin. I got the feel like a like a farm boy for maybe about thirty minutes. And then we actually got to walk the horses out. And the, the lady, there was kind of watching and seeing, which horses melded with different people like there's like a weird connection with humans and horses. I don't really know the, the whole science behind it. I got along really well with this one horse. Josh me and him are best buds. And it was it was pretty cool because I was like this horse can definitely kill me, but he was super chill than we walked him out into the pen. They had some like giant soccer balls the horses kinda just like kick it around their role in all around in the dirt, and we just kind of like ran around with them and pet them. And it was a good old time. I enjoyed myself and I wouldn't have done that if it weren't for Airbnb experiences. So that's sounds interesting to you, guys, you guys check it out. "So this sponsor is Airbnb experiences. That's right. Not just regular ole Airbnb where you're living in people's houses, this is experiences, which are one of a kind activities hosted by locals. It's an opportunity to get to know a city, not just living like a local but doing things like them. I'm big fan of it is something that's forcing me to kind of step out of my comfort zone, and try things around the city like I was looking at the website and LA you can do all sorts of things you can do a tour around L A in an airplane. There's one guy offering for you to ride in his motorcycle sidecar. So there's a lot of experiences available in LA. But the experience that I chose was to play with rescued horses myself. Shane Courtney and another coworker. We all went there. The lady greeted us right at the front, and she's like, well, let's go meet the horses. A lot of horses that it may be been abused in the past, and they basically rescued these horses soon. Now they just get to eat and play, and, and be cute cute. Little equestrian boys before we played with them, we actually got to take care of them got their food. They had some like giant soccer balls, the horses kinda just like kick it around their role in all around in the dirt. And now we just kind of like ran around with them and pet them. And it was a good old time. I enjoyed myself, and I, I wouldn't have done that if it weren't for Airbnb experiences that sounds interesting to you guys. You guys check it out. Airbnb..

"Comfortable, I'm left handed and that was gross. Let me let me thank you for the listeners that aren't watching on video tweet a really bad handshake. But we fixed it job to use those contexts class Nur's. Yeah. The smaller guest's really making you work for the visuals that are going on right? Yes. So anyway, I worked at your company, and you you consulted us a few times on our channel. I did. Yeah. So basically in the early days of YouTube, not only was I kind of using my own channel in the background and learning and kind of growing on YouTube that way, but I was also a digital video expert. I was an analytics guy, I was using the learnings that I was coming up with off of my own work on YouTube to help other channel creators grow their businesses understand their analytics, and basically try to grow faster was I there where are you working there in twenty one how long were you working there? I was there for so I was. In kind of that M C N space for about two and a half years. And that was because I started working defy on in twenty fifteen were you there? No. But I was part of the conversations that were leading up to wait in twenty-fifty actually twenty fifteen you might have been coming in right? As I was kind of like, wrapping things up, but I was a big part of the conversations about the whole smash rebrand. How'd you bring in? How do you bring in new characters melodies? And is that a good idea can the channel survive without an Anthony. How did you feel about that? How did you feel about them wanting to bring in new people and changing stuff? I really wanna know. I mean, it was it was one of those things that like the the ability to succeed was slim. Yeah. Like making changes like that is and you have tons of examples in the past on YouTube of channels who had tried it. And it never worked right? Like, john. That's probably the best example out there where you know, he tried to hand off hosting duties of equals three, and none of the hosts ever really caught on. And so the the smart thing that you guys did. And the thing that I think all of us internally who are talking about it, we're recommending was you have to make it a very slow right Rasual extended. And the thing is like we wanted to make it a slower thing we wanted to make a more natural thing. Like, we we get to know Shane Courtney Livia Noah Keith we wanted to get to know them better before putting them in more content. But defy was so adamant about like, no, you guys need to put them in all the videos immediately like whoa this. That's not how you works. Like, we need like we need to make this a real thing. We actually need to forge real friendships. These people before we start putting them in all the videos. So I think the transition would have made a lot more sense to the viewers if we would have been given the real time but defy obviously, they're like. Well, we're we're paying the money. So we need to have them in every video and not just forming friendships with you guys as a cast. But also like us for fan. Yeah. Exact forming friendships with the community around the channel the audience because so much of YouTube is built on this idea of like, I know who these people are I haven't established relationship with them because I'm seeing them week after week after week, and I know their likes dislikes the personalities what you know, what they find funny. And so for all of a sudden, they're to be like where are the new guys?.
