"My sister was murdered. I need to know what happened. Saint X, new episodes Wednesdays only on Hulu. Halfway through the last hour of the Paul Feinbaum Show. I'm your host today, Roman Harper, with more of your calls. And now, AC from Bangladesh. Excited about this call. AC, welcome. Thank you so much for taking my call. How you guys doing? I'm doing good, man. How you doing, boss? I'm doing good, man. It's a different time change for me. But let me ask you a question. All right. You played in the NFL in college. What was that road experience like for you in college and NFL and on the road? Did you guys have certain restriction? Like, let's say that, for example, let's say the game ended at four o 'clock p .m. Do you have like a certain time frame you got to live the facility? Because at home, you can literally, you can literally take a nap after the game. At the locker room, probably they wouldn't care. But on the road, I'm pretty sure they want you out of here. Is there any restriction? And let's hear your best food experience on the road. I know I got a lot of good questions for you, but these are some great questions. Unlike Jim, he barely asked any great questions. Because I'm the sapient and I'm part of page 54. Thank you so much for hosting the show. My Mr. Feinbaum, I love you. Allah. Well, AC, man, thanks for your call. Thanks for your questions, too. Personally, in college, there's restrictions everywhere. You don't really get to see anything. I never saw any of these campuses. You go into cities or towns and you're at the hotel. You go through meetings. You go through dinner, night meetings, and then all of a sudden you're in bed. You wake up the next day. You're all focused. You're at the hotel. You don't get to leave. You only just go and go play football. And so I never got to see anything or two. I'll do my show now, SEC Nation, where now you can tune us in. We're every Saturday, 10 a .m., 9 a .m. Central. And we're good to go to all these different campuses. And I get to see what campus life is like on all throughout the SEC. And the NFL, West Coast games, me being my career in New Orleans, West Coast games, we go out a day early. So we go on Friday. So Friday we get in, maybe that evening that afternoon, you go get some dinner, hang out with your buddies for a little bit. But we do have curfew. And then Saturday, our normal meetings, we'll have a walkthrough, be ready to go in the morning for a walkthrough, maybe a midday meeting. Then you got the rest of the day to hang. And then that night we'll have night meetings, get everything, all the hay in the barn. And then from there, we get ready to wake up Sunday, get ready to go play us a game. Now, if you have Monday nights, meetings sometimes wouldn't be until Monday morning. And so if you have a night game, we like to push it back Saturday, Sunday, kind of taking it easy, just checking through the hotel. Meetings will be that morning of the game day. But if you have a normal 1 a .m., 1 p .m. kickoff, then we're going to have them the night before. So then the first thing you do, you hit the ground running, get your breakfast and get ready to go win you a game. So thank you, AC, for the question. All right. Next, we have Russell from Orlando. Hey, Roman. How are you doing, man? I'm doing great. How are you doing? I'm great. I'm great. I just have a question. I see you often on TV and you seem to be a Shane Beamer fan. And I just wanted to know your thoughts on the culture and what he's done at South Carolina and some of the recruits that he's getting. And if you think that they're going to continue to move forward. Well, the most important thing, Russell, is that the culture is not just the team. The culture is the people. And so when I say the people, I mean the fans, the people of Columbia, everybody involved with that program. And they're riding on a high right now. Columbia, South Carolina, what Shane Beamer's been able to do is just really infuse that team with all the enthusiasm that he naturally brings. And his X's and O's, his ability to bring in a great coaching staff and get some excitement going and making it a tough environment to win games. It was already tough to win in Columbia. But now it's really tough. And so you continue to stack talent with that toughness in the arena that you're playing in. You're going to get great results. And right now, I think Columbia is a team that's trending in the right direction. Well, before he got there, they weren't trending in the right direction. So I like what he's building there. I'm excited. The only concern I have for South Carolina this upcoming year is the schedule. The schedule matters when and where you play teams in the SEC matters. The schedule is tough. The schedule is extremely tough. That is the reason why I'm a little bit hesitant to say that South Carolina is going to have a better record. Doesn't mean they're not going to be a better team, but they will have a better record because once you have a quarterback, you're in the conversation of the game. And right now, Spencer Radler is a great quarterback. He's a great college quarterback. He has to be able to take his game to the next level, slow down, and cut out the turnovers, take care of the football. But that's not just on him. That's on the receivers catching the ball, the offensive line blocking, and also them getting better at the run game as well more consistently. Yep, I completely agree. I've been a high school coach for 38 years, and I love what they're doing. Well, thank you so much, Russell. I appreciate your call and your time. I love talking about the Gamecocks football and everything that they're doing and building down there. I'll tell Shane Beamer, like I tell anybody else, I would let my kids go to South Carolina and play for that man because I know he believes in them, the things that he talks about and believes in. It's a great program. They've got great facilities, and they're going to get some things winning, and they're going to beat some other teams that nobody expects them to. But like I said before, their schedule is a hectic one, and it's a tough road schedule as well. So thank you, Russell, for your call. Next, we're going to have a great day. Thank you, you too. Next, we got Hastings from Alabama. Yeah, hey, Roman. Good to talk to you, man. I've been a huge fan of yours on the

"Can't throw the ball if you can't block. And I think that that we're going to learn very quickly whether South Carolina can block or not. Ben Shane, the evolution of Shane beamer. This is a guy that has a very modern persona when it comes to sort of how to run a football program. I like all the stuff that he does. If you beat somebody to the winner go to the spoils, you can talk some trash on social media if you want to. You control people if you want to, you can have fun with people in the media if you want to. Does he need to evolve at all or is listening to all the noise like part of his like how he may like how he builds what he's built? Does that make that question makes sense? Yeah, no, I think that that's something that sometimes we forget with Shane is like his exes that I know his knowledge is as good as it gets, right? And I think that some of that we lose it in the sense of like, yes, there's the thing about shade wasn't a hot shot offensive coordinator when he got hired, right? He'd mostly been a special teams coordinator and in his places, but he is a guy who understands his excellent and has hired a really good people around him. I think that are that way too. And I think that also is just like one of probably the most competitive human beings you'll ever meet. We talk about it all the time and as good as sort of easygoing and as easy sort of good guy that Shane is and I don't think a lot of his public persona is an act by any stretch. I think that shade is also one of the most fiery and intense competitive people on the planet and I think a lot of times people take these sort of like, oh, he's love it on his guys. That means he's soft. It's really the polar opposite of that. And that doesn't necessarily answer what you were asking about X's and O's, but I do think that this is a team that there may be not going to scheme you to death, but I do think that there's stuff that goes beyond that of beliefs and all those other things we hear in college football all the time. That's, I think, part of the reason why South Carolina has been able to punch above its weight a little bit the last few years. Ben always a pleasure, my friend, good to talk to you, buddy. Go back to the yes, the best beat in America. Appreciate it. Appreciate you guys having me. All right, but of the state. Now, listen, I will say this. I'll say it loud and clear on the Paul fine bomb show for everyone to hear South Carolina, Shane beamer, I am sorry. I was dead wrong about your program last year. I was wrong that. And if I'm wrong again, I will stand up and I will say proudly that I am a cock a doodle doofus. If I get it wrong again, but I need to see the consistency out of the quarterback. I need to see it. I want to see the offensive line develop. And I was wrong last year. Many of us were wrong last year, and we are sorry. I'm apologizing openly. But I need to see a couple more things before we start talking about South Carolina in that Georgia Tennessee, that top tier category in the east. And yes, I know the score of the game between South Carolina and Tennessee. We're going to talk gambling. How about some gambling? What is going on in college sports? Should we be concerned or is gambling a good thing? Is legalized gambling helping this process? We're going to do that and we'll take your calls, all of that next right here. "Well, not only Kirby's smart Paul, but I think Brian Kelly is quickly catching up to him. I think Josh, you could argue, you know, he doesn't have the resume. I'm not sitting here saying Josh hypers got a better program necessarily, but beat him head to head last time I checked. And again, a and M has beaten them in recent history. And again, should have beat them last year despite being arguably the worst team in the SEC, and that's including Vanderbilt. So I don't know, Paul, I mean, these number one recruiting classes are great. They've been doing that for about a decade, and they had the number one class two years ago, and about 40% of that class is no longer within the program. And last off season, we were singing the praises of Texas a and M and this vaulted number one class. It was the greatest ever assembled, and then they won 5 games. So you can't sell me on we just signed number one class all ills are fixed, because Nick Saban, I think, has been caught up by many of his peers in the SCC and it was bound to happen, Paul, because he's gotten about every coach fired or every institution has fired their coach at least once, if not twice, and some, as many as three or four times, it's Nick Saban's been in Tuscaloosa. Talking to Michael Bratton in case somebody was wondering who that voice was if you're driving around the country. Michael, you mentioned Jimbo Fisher, I take it, you didn't like that play quality end of the Alabama game last year, but let's talk about what's happening now and moving forward with bob petrino on board. What do you expect out of the aggies? Well, we're less than 24 hours away, Paul from the first opportunity for Texas a and M to be a massive disappointment here in the spring game. Fortunately, they can't lose when they're playing themselves, but I kid, because I've heard you say this and I would echo these sentiments that Bobby petrino, you know, you may not necessarily trust him to do the right thing off the field, but I do trust him, coaching quarterbacks, calling the offensive game plan, and that is the last thing that I trust Jimbo Fisher with. So as long as Jimbo doesn't steal the play calling back from Bobby petrino, I really do think a and M could be one of the biggest surprises in the years you see this season, but it would only be about the fourth or 5th time someone has uttered that and they have disappointed nearly every time. So it could go either way. I could see them potentially even winning the west pole. I could see them finishing dead last again, but it is going to be fun to watch as an outside observer, no doubt. Michael, you mentioned hypomania. I know you're high on that program. In fact, we saw you last year when we were doing the show from the Alabama weekend, give us your view of this program moving forward now with seemingly the quarterback situation settling down. Right. And I think something that everyone is overlooking when they talk about the Tennessee balls going into the season, Paul, is this is going to be the deepest, most talented roster on overall, but especially on the defensive side of the ball that Josh has had. And I just think that is going to help keep them, given that Josh, well, it seems like every quarterback he works with just turns to gold. I think they'll do the same. I'm not sitting here saying Joe Milton will be the SEC's best quarterback, but given his experience, his knowledge of the system and the return. We just now Paul, we're just now getting to the point where these are Josh hyper guys that are all over the field. He's basically been doing this with players he inherited his first two years on rocky top. So I look for that to continue. I think Tennessee's Georgia's biggest threat in the east. And I think Tennessee is here to stay. Thanks in large part to lane kiffin may hate it, but I tend to see fans are loving NIL because they have one of the best NIL collectives in the game. And I think that's going to keep Tennessee here for years to come. Michael, you talk to people from every school and this is what you do on your podcast. Let's get a little bit deeper in the weeds. So you mentioned a and M, LSU, obviously Tennessee, South Carolina. I know you're high on them. What else are you looking at this year in the SEC? Because everybody is great. On August 14th. But that's not the case. Once we get to the season, who are you concerned about? You know, one team Paul that we just saw their spring game and maybe I'm just reading too much into a spring game. It's always dangerous to do that, but it's the Florida Gators to me, Paul. And all this hype with Anthony Richardson and he deserves all of it due to just his pure athleticism, the talent that NFL teams believe they can unlock within him while building Napier sure as heck couldn't do it, at least not consistently. And without Anthony Richardson, I mean, it looks like a train wreck on offense. Either that poly or maybe they've got the best defense in the SEC, which was one of the worst, but they just hired a new coordinator. So maybe that'll fix Florida's issues. They have an incredibly daunting schedule. The replacing four or 5 on the offensive line, and that seemed to be a huge issue in the spring game. And that's kind of Billy Napier's bread and butter is running the football if they can't do that. They don't have a quarterback. I mean, I think we're possibly looking at a four and 8, 5 and 7 type season for the Florida Gators. And I just can't see that sitting well with that fan base that demands excellence. I know there are living on recruiting and they picked up a big commitment yesterday, but if Georgia continues to do, we both believe they're going to in Tennessee. You've been pretty clear on that. I know you're high on Shane beamer who's picked up another big recruit in the last 24 hours. I mean, we're looking at a significant paradigm shift, are we not with Florida? I mean, they are, where are they right now in the SEC east in terms of your estimation? I mean, they're battling with Missouri. And that's kind of sad to say if I'm a Florida fan. I mean, heck, you could even throw Vanderbilt in there. And I don't just jump out and say that because, heck, they lost to Vanderbilt. I mean, anytime you lose to and this is not the best Vanderbilt ever, this is a rebuilding Vanderbilt that had something like a 20 game SEC losing streak. You find a way to lose to them. I don't understand. And again, at Florida state, if Miami starts to emerge, it's going to be even tougher to recruit in that state, this is just, they're trying to do the Alabama Georgia thing, but they're doing it without the players. So yeah, I think you just have to try to do something different. That's what they're doing in Columbia, South Carolina. That's what they're doing in Knoxville Tennessee, and it's working for them. I just think we've come to the point Paul where Kirby and Nick Saban have kind of mastered this blueprint and every time someone tries to mimic it, it fails miserably. And it's far too early to say Florida is going to be a disaster. But after a season, I mean, it's certainly looks to be trending that way. We'll leave it on that happy note. Michael Bratton from that SEC podcast. Michael, you'd be well. You take care of yourself and be secure after these comments. Absolutely. Thanks, Paul. We'll talk about his career at Tennessee and what he expects in the late April NFL Draft. He's injected high right now. Adam sparks joining us in a few minutes and chase good bread as opposed to bad bread. We'll join us later about Bama spring practice so far. Mike is up next in Georgia. Hello Mike. Hey, Paul, thanks for talking to my taking my call. I really appreciate your show. Thank you very much. Paul, Bear Bryant is a referenced a lot on your show. And I was just wondering what he would think about the U.S. Congress taking over college sports. I'd imagine he would not like it. I think he would it would be, he would not be asking their intervention. He would say, that's up to us. Why didn't we do something about this when we could have? Well, exactly. I mean, I don't know how things have gotten to this point. And it just seems like, and I can't imagine the conference commissioners are interested in having the Congress tell them what to do. It seems like somebody either needs to yeah, but you know what, you know what's interesting, they do seem to be asking Congress for intervention because even the commissioners realized that the NCAA blew it and it's not as if they're trying to do away with it. They're just trying to figure out a way to do it better. Hey, thank you very much for the call. Interesting point you made. And let's check in with Dave, who was in California. Hello, Dave. Hey, Paul. Just wanted to give a couple more reasons why we're not on top of Mount Rushmore anymore. Hey, we don't go to the Maui tournament. Anymore, that's where all the blue Bloods are. And by golly, they got a mural on us in that building in the gym. Another reason is we don't play one of our biggest rivals anymore. Indiana. And yes, we do have the best recruiting class coming in, but it's probably going to be another year of disappointment for the cat. And one more thing about the ladies game, there was a lot of teaching moment. I sat there watching that with my ten year old, whether it be the officiating or the way things went down at the end, but they are kids. Our young ladies and it was fun to watch, but I just feel there was a lot of teaching moment at the end of our game. And thanks. For putting on a good show. Thank you very much for being a part of it. Drew is up next in Virginia. Hello, drew. Hey, Paul, how are you? You're welcome. Thank you. I have three questions, and I would say if Birmingham had a Mount Rushmore, you would be on it. But the question one, do you think, as I'm a fan of you freeze, do you think he gave the SEC a boost that it needed? Two, do you think the sun belt conference could be the next ACC and the third question? I like Shane beamer and I like Q three, and I know they're talking about playing teams in their spring game. Do you think that could be another recruiting tool for them? Yes. Drew, I don't think the spring game is enough to really matter. And I'm interested to hear what free says tomorrow because I just, I think the spring game is now become just an event. It's for something to bring your kids, everybody show up on hopefully a nice day. And it's a taste of the fall. I don't think playing a substandard school, whether it's in a different division or even in a comparable one is going to be that exciting because the result doesn't matter. I mean, what are sports about? Who wins and who cares? And as far as Hugh freeze, I think that was your first question. I think yeah, go ahead. Go ahead. No, I will say go ahead. Well, no, that's just how I feel about the spring games. But in relation to freeze, I think he is given the SEC a big boost because he's made auburn better. And that was the issue with Brian harsh and we don't need to talk about who he was and whether we liked him or not anymore because he couldn't coach in the SEC. And auburn suffered and when auburn, when auburn is poor, it affects big games like Georgia like Alabama and others and that's they are a critical component of the league. Absolutely. Well, you think the SEC is ready for him? Yeah, I don't think he's transitioned very well. And I think he's going to be a factor. I mean, he's an elite coach. And that's been proven. And it's not just because of two games at all miss. Those games put him on the map. But I think his body of work at liberty was extraordinary. Thank you for the call very much. Mac is in Gainesville. You're on the air. Hold on back. Hi, Paul. Appreciate you having my call, been on several times with you. Got a couple of questions and there are about Florida and die hard gator fan. Do you think with merch coming to Florida that no record will be a little better than last year and you have to understand that with Billy's first year and there was kind of subpar and then my next question to that would be, you know, I'll let you go would be do you think Florida is going to have any playoff implications or national championships? Hopefully here in our near future. And thank you for taking my call. Thank you. I love you, sis. Bye. Well, thank you. Yeah, this is a dangerous juncture in my career. As far as as far as merch, I'm not overly enthusiastic about somebody dropping in for a year, but he could be a stopgap. And right now the Gators need that. They need some stability. They need somebody that they can trust. And they need a lot more players too. And I think Napier is doing that. I'm long past knowing how successful he'll be. I know what he's done in the past. That's often a preview or a predictor of the future and for gator fans. I hope that is the case. Let's check in with Dexter in Texas. Hello Dexter. Hey, Paul, how are you doing? Can you hear me? Yes, I can. Thank you. Okay, hey, Paul, I've told you before that in the first time I called you, I called you way back when your own college force nations seem like a thousand years ago. Wow, that was a long time. Y'all followed Eddie George and I can't remember who was a sideline reporter was that they had to show with, but I called you back then. But those Collins today got a caller a little while ago, he said, in fact, I'm going to mock him. He said, when asked to have a beating Alabama and anything and your response was probably 70s or 80s. You're pretty close to correct, well, would be Alabama bears last game.

We are going to continue with your phone calls a number of guests. We've already had John chalte on talking about the Saban situation with basketball in Alabama. Your phone calls continue right after this. You are listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. Head coach fighting. Tough guy boxing. MMA, UFC, Shane beamer in an interview said there's a few coaches that he wouldn't mind fighting. I'm not going to say a name he added. There's a few in particular that would be a priority at the top of the list. I wonder who it could be. I just think about some of the battles that Shane deemer has had in his brief head coaching career. Let's get back to the calls here. And chaplain Mack is up next. How you doing, Paul? You're doing all right. Yes, sir. That's good. That's good. You know last week some of the callers were kind of talking to you about some kind of promotion and getting on a big show and being a big analyst and all that kind of stuff. And you kind of played it down, but I saw a couple of times how good you and Charles Barkley would be together. Y'all love the same things. He sees it from us. A player perspective, you see it from just a great fan perspective and how I don't think y'all would compete. I don't think you would be so different that it would be obnoxious or like a Jerry Springer show, but I sure would like to see you and Charles together talking about some of the same things and seeing the perspective that y'all would bring out of each other. Well, Mike, thanks for saying that. I think Barclays is in a completely different league. But I will say this, I've spent a lot of time around Charles in the past. We used to play golf occasionally when he would come to town and just spending four or 5 hours with Barkley on a golf course. The times that we have done it is remains one of the, some of the most memorable times of my career. He's such a different person. He's so natural. And really a much more thoughtful person than I think he often is portrayed to be. Ryan, he's like, hazel a lot better guy than most folks know. Most folks are, they just have this persona this public persona and it's not them really, they just doing it. And it draws people to them. But he is a really nice guy. Thank you so much for what you're doing, God bless you, buddy. Thank you so much. Wonderful to hear from you as always. Let's check in with Sean in Indiana. How's it going, Paul? Sean. Thanks for taking my call. Appreciate it. Before I talk about saving I've tried to get on a couple times, you had a caller who basically said that you got them. And there's been plenty of these calls where people have said, I've been in the hospital and you got me through and. Just down on themselves or depressed and you got them through it and I just, I couldn't believe it. And I've never actually heard anybody say that about anybody like talk show before. So I just, I hope you know how great your show is and how much people really appreciate you. Thank you, Sean. I think yeah. Well deserved Paul, well deserved, you know, I try to listen to your show as often as I can. I'm from Indianapolis, but I actually traveled this out. So I'm in Birmingham and all these SEC states all the time and I listen on 94 5 a lot. So it's truly incredible what you've done. So I can only think of maybe one other person and that would be Rush Limbaugh. Somebody like that, who is a hugely popular like yourself. But I wanted to talk about Stephen and this NATO saying, I think what statement did today was truly separate himself and show why he is one of the greatest coaches in college athletics. Tony Mitchell made a mistake. And he made no bones about it. I loved what he said, you know, when there is no wrong place at the wrong time. You know, you have an opportunity to make choices and no choices

"Grade and Greg sankey's office. We probably think I'm crazy saying what I'm saying. But you know, I do think that there is something to it, right? To having a scrimmage or a lead up game. And maybe that takes a shape of something in August where you play one of those games earlier in the year as a true preseason game as opposed to in the spring. Or something along those lines. But I do think that when you look at it, I mean, South Carolina, for example, last year played its spring game. It was barely even really a scrimmage, some of that because of injuries and they're just really weren't enough offensive and defensive line them to go around to run a full game. And at that point, you basically had the offense going 40 yards and in, did that for a little while, and then it turned into some red zone drills and things like that. So it's really kind of shifted away from an actual true game. Now there's a million reasons for that. Like you said, some of that you don't want quarterbacks getting hit. You don't want guys getting injured in the game that truly doesn't matter on any level imaginable. So I think that's part of it, but I do think that there is something to be said about, is there a way to make these games a little more interesting or spice it up? Or can you actually get a real match up or something along those lines? At that time of year. I mean, look at high school football, right? Across the south, there's all sorts of jamborees and things like that that go on during the spring. Is there a way to bring something like that to college football? I don't know. Maybe not, but I do think it's at least an interesting thing to kind of kick around. I'm glad you did. Speaking of spring, Ben, let's talk a little bit about what to expect. Beamer coming off of really an incredible year. I remember seeing you in Columbia on a cold Friday night and it seemed like the season was about over. The game cocks had just lost to Florida, I believe the week before. They went out and beat Tennessee the next day and then Clemson the week after that and everything has changed. So what's it look like for the upcoming gamecocks on the field? Well, you know, it's funny. I think when you and I were talking then in Colombia, I think at that point, I had just put in a prediction for South Carolina to lose something like 55 to ten to Tennessee or something along those lines. And I was joking with beamer after the game, but I think now the last three or four times I picked them to lose by four touchdowns. They've gone and won the game. So I don't know what it is with that, but I do think that folks are excited and you look at this team and this program and where things are at. I mean, it's hard to argue with the upward trajectory. I mean, they started 7 and 6 a year ago and one 7 games beat UNC and the duke's Mayo bowl in a season that frankly I and a lot of other stuff South Carolina might be lucky to win two or three games. You come off, you get to 8 and 5, beat Tennessee and Clemson and really had a really good shot to win that gator bowl. What was kind of lost in the shuffle of bowl season, but was a really great game and kind of a wild game. To get to possibly 9 wins. So I think that if your South Carolina, that's the range you want to be fighting for right now, right? If South Carolina is winning 8, 9 games, maybe not ten 11, but that's a standard that hasn't really been consistent here in Columbia really ever outside of Steve spurrier. I mean, obviously there were some good seasons in there and the 11 win seasons, three in a row, but outside of that, I mean, this is a program that hovers basically around 500. So if you're winning, even 7, 8, 9 games, like you're in a really good spot. And I think there's a lot of excitement around Shane beamer. I think bringing Spencer Rattler back, getting juice wells back and receiver. There's a reason to be excited. You're going to learn a lot about this team quickly between North Carolina, Georgia and Mississippi and Tennessee and there you go seeing the schedule right there, Florida as well, really, really quickly. So South Carolina can get through that first half of the half of the schedule. It's somewhere around even three and two if they somehow get through it at four and two. I mean, they're sitting pretty heading into that back half. I'm going to slap myself for asking you considering the last prediction you gave us. You just got through expressing wrong, of course. So having said all that been, and nobody got that game right. What do you think? You laid out the first half of the season. What's realistic for the gamecocks? I mean, I don't think it's crazy to say that South Carolina can win 8 games next year. Excuse me. I think that this is a team that on paper they lost in pieces. I think they return about ten starters, so you're gonna have to replace about half the starters there, but there's a lot of experience. There's some pieces that I think are going to fit. They've got to figure out running back. They've got to figure out the defensive end. But I think when you, like I said before, when you look at this schedule, I mean, if South Carolina gets into the back half of the schedule with four wins, you feel pretty good about your chances against Missouri, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and even Clemson. And as we've got Jacksonville state and a and M there, who's after a lot of beat last year in Columbia in the Aggie. So I think that there's a world where this team's winning. 8, 9 games next year, know whether that happens. We'll see. I think the floor is probably somewhere around 6 ish, maybe 7. I think it would be a really big surprise. And frankly, a big disappointment at this team doesn't go to a bowl game, but I think Shane beamer is expressed it and folks here in Colombia have expected it, whether publicly or privately, that there's some excitement and they think this team can go. And I think even still, despite last season, can still sneak up on some people as well. Ben, port and I always fun conversation, bam, be well. Thank you for making time for us. We will hopefully see you very, very soon. Great stuff from Ben, one of our favorites. And we head to the break. We have a lot to do today. We'll update you on the NCAA term, not a whole lot happening right now. When near Cinderella story has gone down the drain with our kennesaw losing to Xavier, that was a close game and in fact it looked like it was Xavier was beaten. But other than that, not much happening compared to yesterday. We'll talk about yesterday and look ahead to tomorrow right

"I think it's probably manageable, maybe more than if you're playing in the west. This year, at least. But Missouri has never beaten Georgia under drink, which they've never beaten, it never beaten Tennessee. They've never lost a South Carolina. So even though I think Shane beamer's got his program, maybe ahead of schedule compared to where Missouri is right now, Drake, which is undefeated against the gamecocks. At some point, I got to break through and beat Kentucky again, they beat him his first year, but they've lost the last two years at game is always close and competitive. Case states that they got pounded in Manhattan last year, but that game is in Colombia this year. And maybe case states not as good as they were a year ago and they won the big 12. Does it read France? Give her credit. She did a good work moving that Memphis game. That game was supposed to be in Memphis, and she got it moved to St. Louis, where at least it's on more of a neutral side. You'll have a lot of Missouri fans downtown in the dome to see that one. So they've got to make some headway. I mean, 6 and 6, three years in a row in the regular season, four years if you go back to Barry odoms last year. At some point, you've got to see this program turn the corner and have a winning season in the regular season. And then you just let whatever happens in bowl games. I mean, half the team doesn't play in bowl games. These days, but the regular season, I think it's time that, you know, to expect Missouri to make some progress and be something more than just 6 and 6. It would be nice. They matter joining us from the St. Louis paper. Thank you very, very much. We head to the break more on the Jalen Carter news of earlier today. We'll talk to Nicole Arab back about what it's like inside a committee on infraction hearing. And your phone calls.

"They're loaded there. He's a guy who's probably going to get some reps and get a chance to. I still like Georgia coming out of the SEC as a guaranteed layoff thing. Brad, before you go, I mean, there's so many intriguing matchups. There's just so much to unpack. On the final day of February, but we've talked about the Alabama situation, the Georgia situation. Give us someone to pay closer attention to. Who are we ignoring right? Or maybe not ignoring, but maybe not giving enough attention that could, I don't know, maybe be that Tennessee, be that surprise team that give us give us some inside dope here. Yeah, I think depending on how The O.C. works out for Shane beamer at South Carolina, the gamecocks are a team that could possibly go even better than last year's 8 and 5 finish, lost another name in that bowl game. Look, this is a team that really didn't have any kind of offense for two and a half months. Then they scored 63 points on Tennessee beating a top 5 balls team. Beat Clemson on the road to end Davos 39 game home winning strength on this in the country. And now Shane beamer is let's face it ahead of schedule heading into year three. He got Spencer Rattler back through NIL. He got juiced wells to return a guy who's probably going to have a thousand yards 15 touchdowns type receiver as wide receiver one. The biggest question for me for South Carolina is can they withstand that early September schedule? They're going to go to Georgia as an early huge game for both teams and spends a rattler can't have another situation where through 8 weeks of the season, he's just a Ho home quarterback. If the gamecocks want to be a team that legitimately contends in the SEC has to be the former 5 star that he showed at Oklahoma. So I think South Carolina is capable, but still some questions there. And Brad, who are you most worried about in the SEC? I'm most worried about Missouri. Quarterback situations up in the air right now. I know drink was just got an extension last season. That was kind of puzzling to me, but you look Paul, it's one of the SEC toughest schedules and Missouri has a chance to be an underdog and probably 6 to 8 SEC games. They have a very tough non conference schedule includes big 12 champion Kansas state. They have to play Memphis on the road, another tough game. Middle Tennessee. I mean, Missouri Milton AC last season went into Miami and score almost 50 on the canes and won that game. So drink was a guy that I think has to put together on both sides of the ball a respectable team this season and I kind of have that SEC opener at Vanderbilt circle because if Andy wins that game in Nashville and build on last season's late season momentum Vanderbilt team that maybe gets to both season and Clark Lee's third campaign. We're right. They have some home games that they have to win and that's a really interesting point and those road games, they all look treacherous. Hey, thank you so much, Fred. It's a pleasure to have you on. As always, we look forward to seeing you soon. And come back. Yes, thanks, Paul. God bless man. You bet. So what a great fantastic guest there, Brad, Crawford. We take a break, much more to come, right after this. This week on life out loud. It's

"It has nothing to do with his decision making, but sometimes fun things work out like that. Apparently former Oklahoma Titan in Austin stagner had a big hand in making this happen. He was transferring he is transferring to South Carolina. And his him and his parents were like, hey, you should talk to Spencer. Spencer, I think might want to come here if he knew if you talked to him, but Shane beamer went talk to him and make it happen. And here we are, Spencer Rattler is now going to South Carolina, which is going to be fun and I just got to say like, I'm excited to see this. It'll be really cool to watch and play at the SEC and I would like to see South Carolina continue to build their program. I really think I'd be fun and exciting and I'm excited I spent a rattler play there. Okay, I haven't acknowledged it yet, so let's do it now. Alabama quarterback Bryce young won the Heisman Trophy. He through for 4322 yards, 43 touchdowns, four interceptions. He also ran for three touchdowns. Alabama's team is 12 and one. They are in the college football playoff. To win the heist and trophy, he beat out these other top candidates he beat up Michigan DN 8 and Hutchinson, Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett and Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud. I don't know if much more to say than that. When I was watching George ever, Alabama in the SEC title game watching Bryce young shred that Georgia defense having the best performance anyone's had against Georgia all year. I was like, yeah, it's pretty clear he's gonna win the Heisman Trophy. Not a surprise, but hey, great job well done to Bryce young good for him. Here's a crazy story that I think is a lot of people are saying it's going to change recruiting forever. I don't know that that is true. But I would like that to happen. It'd be very cool if it did. And I think here it is. Travis hunter, a 5 star recruit and the number one recruit in the country, a cornerback. He flipped his recruitment from Florida state to Jackson state. An FCS HBCU school. And it's very cool. It's probably, I think best for him too. So a lot of people are saying this is gonna change recruiting forever. He chose an SCS school that's ever happened before an HBCU school. Oh my gosh. And Jackson state is a very unique situation that is not going to be very easy to duplicate by other small colleges. Their head coach is Deion Sanders, which means that the best corner in the country Travis hunter. He's the number one recruit and a lot of places ESPN on the cast and actually at number two. I don't really carries. He's amazing. He's the best player ever to go to a school like this. He's going to get coached by arguably the best corner of all time, Deion Sanders. Sorry, I love eastern Washington. I spent a lot of time there in college. They're not going to get Jerry Rice to be their head coach to recruit a lot of top wide receivers. So it's not really duplicatable, duplicatable. Is that the word? Whatever it is, I go to Jackson state. I don't even have a degree..

Pm available at any bar that you want to go into. Let's continue with more phone calls. Here and steve is in arkansas. Steve good afternoon. How are you. I'm doing tom. Paul you very well thank you. Listen i heard. You mentioned something earlier in your program about the texas recruits maybe in the next couple of three or four years Texas will recruit the plan. Nancy see At arkansas welcome down to the sec. As well as they did the other night. What is the difference between the four star players. Texas's recruited now the four star players. That the sec has which arkansas doesn't know that many but they have some good ones. But what is the difference between now and then coming. Texas does recruit probably higher than half sec does at the moment. Yeah no. you're right. I mean i mean player to player Texas would match up with most sec schools. But they just have to do more of that. And i think they're capable of it They've lost some players to really good schools like alabama house state in recent years. That they simply can't do if they're going to be dominant. I think it's going to. It's going to be a process to use a cliche. i hate and i don't think after two games you can completely value. It wouldn't have been surprised if texas had lost a louisiana in the opener challenging first two games. I first couple of games. But i was surprised by arkansas because i just think that was a i mean. They were walking into a situation. That arkansas had been priming for for at least a couple of years or at least since sam pippen got there but i think it's an impossible question to fully answer but i i feel like texas. We'll be ready though so so actually you don't think there's a whole lot of difference between the four stars that each team has got is just a matter of your. There's this league this league. I mean we if you're playing alabama. It's going to be difficult. But i mean jacksonville state. I doubt they had any two stars and they went into florida state which has plenty of four and five stars. Hey thanks for the call. Appreciate it very. We've talked a lot about the razorbacks big win. We had bobby bones on earlier. We've had greg mcelroy shane. Beamer will head to kentucky next and find out about that. Big win over missouri chris rodriquez. Junior you probably saw him do quite well.

"Richard of course spencer. Let me start with you. Spencer on the news that klay health and gets fired after two games. Yeah it's week three paul. It's week three already. Keihin clay elton. They had enough. They took one step out of the bill tug and just threw even though i would say that substantively. This isn't much different than the milk's been for at least three years under klay held now. I don't know why the stanford losses any worse than any other laws that. Us's had underplay. Hell i guess they just had it but by the way if you get fired this is how to make sure they issue a press. Release okay because that thing looked copy edited ready to go polish. Richard just check. He's not even on the coach's roster anymore on the website. He's been nuked from the website. They already have the interim up in the roster. No they were. They were ready to rock here. This was this was a top down scrub. I think we understand that when you lose to the stanford team that played like stanford did week one. It's going to raise some eyebrows spencer. I think what's interesting. Here is the fact that you know heritage hall. Which is what we call the firm behind. Usc is always this sort of wildly unpredictable place. I think it's become even more unpredictable now. Given them my bone who was cincinnati's former. Fbi director is now the athletic director at usc. Because he's the first outsider so to speak to take over athletic department basically in my lifetime. It's always been inside guys now you've got an outsider here and it appears that the outsider has made the heavy handed move by taking control of the situation. At least that's my read on it by firing clay. Helton this quickly. Let's talk about where they go next. They have plenty of time. I mean usually if you fire somebody maybe an early november to give yourself a chance. I mean they have a lifetime to look for the next coach. It used to be that. Urban meyer was top top of the list. Jacksonville fans may want him to be top of the list but spencer. Where are they going. I don't know why you mentioned urban meyer. He has a job sir. He will be staying with job. Rumor-mongering will not stand. There's an interesting question here because he is an outsider. Chances are my bones going to have to satisfy some internal tensions inside the program by considering. Usc allom maybe. If not i but at least make them part of the process. I think somebody that they're going to look at may already be on staff. They may like what graham harrell is doing it offensive coordinator and then may stay internal especially because you said they have time now. Time is also a chance for everyone else on that staff to audition for the job. Underlie fire in real time so i would not be surprised to see somebody hired off this staff. Yeah i think so first of all. It's a usc coaching search. So jeff fisher jacked worn down. Come on i know that. That jeff fisher at least is a helping. Eddie george out of tennessee state. So get up to nashville. See if he'll take the job. I joked kid trust me know. I think the obvious one to one connection is gonna be luke trickle mike bone cincinnati guy. We know what luke vehicles doing cincinnati. I would imagine. That's one of the first call he makes. We'll see if he ends up coming on down to la fit but you know winnings a cultural fit. So maybe you should try that for a change outside of that. It's the hot guys. I mean you know jane. Franklin at penn state. He's probably going to be on that list. You know that there are some other coaches. Usc man and i know that you see has not been usc in the last ten years. But for god's sakes it's usc and they can swing a pretty big stick when it comes to to coaching search here. I don't know. I don't know why i why jeff fisher always gets mentioned for the job. I mean i know he went there and play there but I'm wondering if fisher could get a job anywhere right now. Listed that is uc..

"Field goals. That was what i saw. What i'm thinking is is a lot better than people are giving them credit for. Which means that tennessee because they played too so tight and have actually better teams. Chuck chuck i agree with you but hold on a second Pity maybe better than we think. Tennessee maybe better but the schedule is still the schedule. And i see four or five games on the schedule. They can't win. So they have to figure out how to get victories To have a good season. And that's the challenge for them right. Now yeah what i would say. Is you read off the schedule. If they play like. They played saturday and clean up these penalties. I mean let. Let's put it this way. Nick sabin would have that left tackle out of the game and he would have probably been on the second team next week. This coach didn't make that adjustment. You can't leave a guy in that costs you to fill positions. But i think if they play hard as they did against pit they can beat missouri. I'll almost make a prediction or they can beat missouri. So i'll give them that one I don't know Chuck thank you. I i thought missouri Played pretty well. The other night Even even in losing. We'll have more on the firing at southern college. It is worth remembering. Mike bone the athletic director. came from cincinnati where he Believe higher luke fickle. That's a name. I would keep my eye on. Although i think you'll hear our i mean bob. Stoops will throw for that job as he gets thrown up for every other job. I don't buy that one. You'll you'll see campbell's name You'll see all of the usual suspects that you see for every big job mentioned It is a prime job though. There are not many jobs in college. Football like southern cal. We'll talk to the guys about that. When we come back.

"Late this afternoon. Clay helton has been fired at usc. His team non lost to stanford which is a pretty bad team but was she milly. Aided and the big concern was that the program had no direction the bigger concern was that there would be nobody at the next couple of games once they got back home. And i think this is smart. There was no way he was going to survive. The cat calls were beginning and we talked to mike bone. I think about a year ago on our program. And when you're when you're not letting director and this is not your guy you're better off just getting you know just cleaning it out. Don't give that guy chance to to save his job like he did a couple of years ago. Just fire him make a change. But it's it's also interesting to think about this dysfunctionality of southern cow which is one of the biggest names in college. Football history After pete carroll left lane kiffin Was there He was fired on the tarmac. In september of twenty thirteen at owes you're on came in as the interim coach got let go at the end of the year but even though many felt like he probably should have retained the job. sarkisian comes in. He went down in flames and was fired and now hilton has been fired all in a relatively short period of time so who will replace him. The names the possibilities will be endless until a year ago. The hot name was urban meyer. I think you can scratch that off the list. Not that anyone really want meyer right now. But you'll hear everyone under the sun mentioned for this job. Let's get back to the call today. Eight five five to four two seven two eight five and danny is in lake charles. Hello betty how are you doing great. You've probably talked about this Already you know during the season but this is my first time Actually watching the show during the season but My question is do you think that coach joe will Survive of this season at lsu or do you see A token chains like Midseason coaching change or something and With the news of john. Emory not being able to return. You know for the season. The thank that'll have Some kind of impact on On just future we'll video. I think i think john henry leaving for whatever reason and i'm still not sure i understand what the explanation was is a big deal. He's a significant blue chip player as far as co. I think it's difficult to answer your question. And this is not one. That i'm dodging because i don't have enough information yet I think every game becomes very important to the fan base and so far. I think they're a little bit. The next critical game is mississippi state on the road You know if he can get a win there i think he quite everyone down But if that game goes the wrong way then suddenly he has lost two games. That fans and media did not expect him to lose before the season in. That's before you take a look at the schedule which is brutal We're talking about issue Hosting florida you have. Am you have alabama auburn and ole miss so The possibility is is very difficult. So i just cannot make that call right now i think This is not quite helton. Who has been on the hot seat for three or four years. I mean it owes. You're on two seasons ago when the national championship. Thanks for the call. Appreciate it very very much. Let's check out. Mike in knoxville tennessee. Hey paul hope you're doing well today back your mind just a quick comment and first off with quite help me and fired. Oh miss battery careful. Everybody knots knows the. Us the play kitchens dream job. Just kidding have any type in lane. Kiffin go to go to southern cal is my question. I'm kidding i'm i'm very well. Listen wanted to talk about volunteer really quick. I thought this past week was one of the biggest games in for ut. This season just based on the trajectory the program. Do you see any way that you get to sixty six this year I think it's very difficult now. based on what we saw saturday and i i'll i'll see if we can. We can call the schedule up here in memphis tennessee schedule and and try to evaluate it. Because i think there were a couple of games and those ga- in pittsburgh was that was that was a fifty fifty game that i felt like tennessee. So okay one game. I don't think florida. I think florida missouri losses. So that's if you start adding it up. That's three losses Alabama's four georgia's five. So then we move around and come back and can South carolina. that's a tossup. Game ole miss i don't think is a toss up game but it's still a game. Tennessee could win at kentucky There you go. I think i may have missed the last time around. So i see two three four five. I think it's going to be very difficult. Okay thanks possible but difficult Tennessee is going to have to beat somebody. They're not supposed to Whether that's a kentucky whether that's Missouri ole miss. Somebody like that. But they can't There's not enough gas. That was the game. They had to win to two breath easily and they let a getaway. Thanks for the call appreciate it. Chuck is up next in south carolina. Hello chuck hey paul. Thanks for taking my call. And i'm your bird dog in tennessee We enjoyed our weekend there with the granddaughter and take a little different take on the game. And i'm also born and raised in pittsburgh and i follow the day to day sure and i think Tennessee played them even and even outplayed them. You wouldn't believe it. Paul but tennessee has more speed than those that means they should have won the game but Bilton missed about three wide open by five or ten yards open receivers and then there's one of your professional caller said earlier. They had fifteen penalties in that game. Two of 'em paul came from the left tackle on the one in three yard line when they had first and goal on the one and three in ended up getting pushed back to the twenty or.

The line recruiting takes over as far players wanting to live and play in austin and represent the long horn tech. Staying up. wait i do. I don't think this is cataclysmic to the texas program We're we're talking about a coach. That's two games in and while it was a bad loss and while everyone's asking the question d- do you think they know what they're getting into. Of course they know what they're getting into. And it just happened that they lost to arkansas versus alabama next year. Which is on the schedule. I think steve sarkissian is a really good coach. Who's who can only do so much In the transition. And i believe he is going to recruit the type of athlete that they need I certainly hope so i. Thanks for the call appreciate it. Let's talk to shannon. Who is up next. A hello shannon. Hello paul week. The football wasn't it was fantastic. Thank you all have a simple question for you. Maybe can help me out. Why is it that the best quarterback for the florida gators is always the one coming off the bench. Well i think the thing sometimes. It is not accurate. I think in this case The richardson mania started a few weeks ago. And it just simply has been building to a crescendo. And emory jones has not lived up to the billing that We all told that that he would he would. He would adhere to so. I think there are some there. Are some pretty serious question marks. So so this is my question fall because you say something earlier about imrie. Jones lacking confidence that he's lacking in confidence and i would argue that police say france is lacking in that same area. And i'm just curious. If mullah's the quarterback whisper that the sports is proclaiming the be. How come as best quarterback something one. That's on the field. And how come starting quarterbacks always for confidence. I don't know Because as our fourteen year old told us a minute ago you know he he he. he was slow to understanding. kyle trask. a. I mentioned an old story the about that and Should've mentioned that. The kyle trask. Frank story as well because what would have happened. If we pay franken been hurt. I stand on it. That is david. If lupe franks would not have been hurt. It kentucky cal. Trask without seeing the field. And and and my question is are we really evaluating our talent and putting the best kid on the field. I mean it's you know and then molin tries to play it off when when he was asked about it by cole cubelic you know you know what he's talking about and tried to be recalling and everything but the obvious thing here is the best the best kid not on the field and i can't believe that's only again the games anthony here I didn't hear that answer. But i thought the answer he gave today. left something to be desired in terms of em. You try to compare it to a neurosurgeon over chance hospital. I mean come on. I mean. Dan mullen has been down this road a couple of times already not not too far on the not that far in the past so i thought it was kind of a a snarky answer but ultimately I think we're going to see a lot of richardson on saturday Thanks for the call. We talked to you. Friday or on the field for the game and there were some there. Were some challenges there for hanes king and his first start. How did you see the game from the sideline. Well you know you said challenges and hanes king. I was impressed by his composure. He threw a couple of interceptions came to the sidelines. His are fist bumping am. I mean they still had a lot of confidence in him and he never looked flustered. I mean i was right. You know walking right behind him and He never looked flustered. And so i really thought that was huge Also when he made some of those big plays his teammates were so excited he scrambled one time out of the pocket and was running and everybody on the sidelines. Was like that's our guy that's our guy so the excitement about hanes king and the composer that he showed also paul. He's got a lot of skill guys around him. Isaiah spillers devante chain. Had that big run. They've got some. They've got some talent. And i think they all really really support hanes came in. Obviously you saw the. We'll let us show on the sidelines in lexington. We're about to talk to coach stoops. what was the. What was it like being there. And what are your impressions of kentucky. Yeah paul it was sort of an out of body experience at times because we're standing on the sidelines and were keeping up with the amount of passing yardage kentucky's adding and adding and adding a we're in the three hundred and then we're in the four hundreds and i'm looking down like I'm in lexington ray. Like i'm in lexington kentucky and they're throwing for over four hundred yards so it was very exciting for fans. I will say what. I'm more looking forward to coming up this weekend. Having seen kentucky week one they're taking on missouri this coming weekend and liam cohen went into this game telling us that they really only had eighty eighty five percent of the offense installed so we didn't even really see most of what kentucky's going to show throughout the season this year. We got a little taste of it and that little taste went really well against you obviously in similar to what you said about am. You've got one del robinson. You've got josh ali. You've got a stable of running backs in kentucky that really makes them an offensive threatens gonna give them the opportunity to potentially pose a threat to the sec east here in just a couple of dates. Exactly let me Before you guys get ready for your show. What is What's on deck tonight in an hour and thirteen minutes with kentucky. I spent some time with kentucky. I know laying spend a lot of time with them as well. But i spent some time with chris rodriquez and the running backs there and had a lot of fun kentucky. So we talk that we got some hyper. Nah hyper naza big thing. I don't know if you've seen it. We'll yeah some hot takes. Paul will have to join us also. Shane beamers going to join the show. Thank you for the call will is in colorado springs. You're on the air. Hello will time listener. First-time caller wonderful. If i wanna make one statement. And then i want your opinion on something else So a couple of weeks ago you other caller call in and basically i agree with the gentleman. He said that this coalition or conglomeration. Or whatever you wanna call this pac twelve. Acc big ten thing was kind of a half hearted effort to do something in response to oklahoma and texas. Going to sec sec as a football entity only getting much stronger. I agree with him in that regard. But i would ask someone. What else could could these conferences do. And comes the punch line and i'm gonna make enemies but you know. Those conferences maintain some degree of academic standards. And the fcc is not known for its academics. Let's be honest here T to validate my point. Acertain certain extent. Or at least to show that i don't get much of an argument traveled around the country a lot. I have quite a few. Sec for the lsu auburn fans alabama fans. And when i bring that up academic wise that aspect. I'll get well. Hey we're talking football or we're talking the playing field in the classroom. So in that regard. I don't see much more that those conferences can do. I agree was half hearted effort and no one really knows what their intentions. I think they kinda jumped into it. And it's like the government figure it out later..
