"A sports fan in the state of Indiana. We're going to get to the matchups here, but just tow review it. We have the state championships at Lucas Oil Stadium next weekend. We got the Colts and the Packers on Sunday. We got IU Ohio State tomorrow. College basketball get started very soon. The nerdy and fighting ours looks like they could make a run to the college football playoff. And right now, there's a certain former Brownsburg bulldog and Butler Bulldogs would like to come back home again. Shams Terranea Gordon Hayward, opting out of his $34 million deal with the Celtics. He says he wants to come home and the Pacers are in talks with Boston. The potentially bring him here. So, man, what a time in the state of Indiana. Let's get to these matchups that Lucas oil next week last six a Could be fun. When Westfield in center grow 58. You had Zionsville and Indianapolis Cathedral in class for a Hobart and wrong Cali Shit. Tard in Danville is your three a matchup. Fort Wayne Lear's out of the 26 so going against Western Boone in two way and in class one a South Adams Uncovered a Christian soul next weekend is certainly going to be busy. I know on Monday they're going to do a coaches media session with all 12 coaches that will be trying to leave their programs to state championships. Of course, you can listen to coach and I and many other network Indiana and Champions Network friends between games Games one and two and two and three. Both days Coach will have Friday. I will have Saturday for Indiana Sports Talk Game Day. I'm reading King. Welcome back. Everybody on Bob level. This is Indiana Sports talk brought to you by Indiana Donor network in six a south. So much data action number one center girl 48 13 winners over Ben Davis a very happy Eric Moore joins me, Coach. Congratulations on this win tonight. Thanks, Bob. I really appreciate it with great not to be a Trojan Great night to be a Trojan. And frankly, I would think to Great night for a group of kids who have had this As their goals since last year, playing for a championship and being disappointed clearly, that's the fire that they had the fuel that they needed to do this but still To do what you've done in the conference. You play we've talked about this before is remarkable. Yeah. I mean, obviously the back of our mind getting back to the state finals of the ultimate goal. In If you fell short tonight, it would have been probably a little bit of a tire taste in our mouth for this off season and rightfully so. But honestly, we didn't attack this season one game of time. Because of the way the year started in the spring and the summer and the football starts with classes starting later, and virtual classes and Learning and everything. You could be all the other coaches. We're going through it. We were just taking it week by week, and we just try to respect each opponent each week and But I mean, your kids don't realize this, but you you do on your staff understands it's hard to play for a championship in back to back years. It doesn't matter what sport what level being able to be back in that spot to start years is hard to do. Oh, Mercy, Yes, that That's that's the great true statement right there and again, all the credits my all my coaching staff and my administration athletic director John's wits on his way out this year and the Great Wait. Eo, you know, Yeah. Celebrate him one last time and then Lucas soul It was 20 years ago. 20 years ago Tonight we had been Davis in the 2000 states in my state for the first ever so my state win personal growth, and his son John was buying a key player there. So that's what this year. But, yeah, it's just about the kids committing themselves and you know, it's gotta be a mission. It's just a lot of work, a lot of sacrifices, but all the kids that played football in Indiana sheer sacrificed so much to be part of that. All right. So you win 48 13, But this thing is tied 13 13 at the half. Yeah. Only thing he saved Ben Davis. You know, it's still been David football. Their football school. Jason Simons is great job. He really had his kids Ray play tonight. Their kids probably You know, I played in that first half just mentally physically and emotionally and everything. We're lucky. Probably this, you know, only be 13 13. But yet we knew there was we had something left. We just had to go get physical and We just had changed the game and we just ran harder. And you just tackle better and blocked better. And just it was nothing really a halftime. You know, I guess maybe things will happen. But the kids listen to whatever I said so. Get after. Well, they came out. They came out through the ball on. You moved the ball in the air against you and I had a game. Great game plan to start the game for you. Yeah, they did. They were well prepared, and we were flat. And for whatever reason, I don't know. We talked about all week not being flat without some big plays happen. And it really helpful, honestly, really humbled, you know, and we needed that. You know, the whole year you go. You know you were 12. Weeks is the number one team and everybody's done for you. You know, I've lost nine of those in my state, so I know how it feels to lose right. But I also know I'm playing in 15 of them that we've always been the underdog so much easier being the underdog. That is a is a guy supposed to win so that that's what I That's experience I game tonight. Everybody's like 15 times. Well, how do you get a clearance? Getting experience from being on top is like no other experience. Uh, it's tough. It's exhausting. And I'm glad my kids out last Right. So the second half who steps up pond turns things around for you? Oh, our defense..

"Remember, the Warriors were doing their double They were doing the double The war your bubble here in San Francisco at the Chase Center. They were Doing their workouts and and Clay had not been cleared at that time, toe to scrimmage and I want to say that was late September. What is that? It was like September 30th early October. They were doing their bubble and and he was not cleared to practice Yet as far as like full on scrimmaging, Steve Kerr said, We wanted to get him out there. We were pretty impressed with his is being in shape, considering you know, there hasn't been a game played. A considerable amount of time for him, but that they wanted to ramp him up that they were pretty happy with what they saw. I don't know what the status was yesterday of his being cleared to scrimmage, but he was playing a pickup game and he went down with a lower right leg injury was the initial report from Shams Terranea. Now, this isn't hockey. Right. You don't say lower You don't say lower body injury or upper body injury and then just kind of wing it lower right leg injury is like one of two things right. It's like an ankle or it's an Achilles. And based on what you would you would report you wouldn't report generally, just a rolled ankle. You might say somebody you know, sprained their ankle and they'll be out for 26 weeks or 3 to 4. Whatever it is, we see this in the NFL all the time. But generally you would not report that in the MBA to that extent, unless it was, you know, something that happened is a minor injury within a game. So you start talking lower right leg injury. I think people started assuming it was Achilles. Confirmed it could be an Achilles terror, but they will not know until they get the M R I today and so nobody wants to speculate that it's serious that its season ending But Adrian mantra, Nowitzki of ESPN reported yesterday and last night that Clay was not able to put much weight on that right leg. So Begged the question leading up to the draft. Would this change any of the warrior draft plans or or or projections for what they wanted to do last night? I think probably not probably a good plan that they stuck with James Wiseman. I would assume they were going after Wiseman anyway. But there were people and finish later even throw it out in a quick article before the draft got going, that there was potential in the world, this could move back, Move back, but maybe that they would just decide at this juncture. Maybe it's smarter to trade a piece away and get another wing. Maybe it would be smarter. Try to go trade for window Carter Jr with the Bulls and then draft yourself a wing that could supplant Clay Thompson being out this year. But until you know about how serious the injury is, you can't really make that call, right. You can't really make the decision on exactly what it is. You should do so you know how injured he is that said. This does not sound good. And so it begs the question immediately. Can the Warriors get back to the NBA Finals or win the NBA Finals without Clay Thompson? You figure most every decision you made or everything you were thinking about for 2020 2021 was predicated on the health of this guy Blakely Clinton, the health of a guy who has not shot under 40% from deep for his career. Right like that's this is this is a major blow, and Steve Kerr said as much in that that statement was talking about just having playback on the floor. Even if he's not out there running with the guys. To the extent you would hope he could eventually be out there. Hey, said, just having him back on the floor, his energy and his presence brings happiness enjoyed the team. He's one of those blue guys, and that's why this team has been so good, but it also begs the question. Have we seen the last night of the Warrior dynasty? And I think that's the question we have to ask is, you know until it's all said and done, and some people will say that's ridiculous. You've got Steph Curry. You've got dream on. And now you've got Wiseman. But until we see that in action mean wise, we're still 19 years old. I think we like the idea of him as a compliment Player to Stephan Clay and dream about and Andrew Wiggins. Now you wonder how big of a role does he have to play easy plan. Are you planning on him being out there for more minutes? And you plan on guys like like Andrew Bogut's Zaza or Yeah, I think you are. You're planning on him being your modern day, big man, and you look around the league and it's funny because I was thinking about this last night during the draft is we've been here for the last week or so. Hey, the big man in the N B A is dead. I don't think the big man is that I think the traditional big man is dead. I think the power forward is dead, right? Like you're your old Danny Ford Since those guys are dead, like you're not getting your 6869 stocky, offensive tackle looking guy that which is basically what a power forward used to be right. Like a right guard. You could have that guy. Actually, the guy who played right Part of my high school might have played right guard on the basketball team. I played a power forward on the basketball team to like that, that position you could just sort of have those stocky go up and rebound and then and then hit your outlet, man, get down court and try to grab another board on defense. Those guys were pretty much gone. It's like guards and wings and mobile mobile big men. If you look at the three of the four teams that wrapped up the NBA bubble in Orlando had you had Yokich and yet Anthony Davis. Then you have to do with Miami, blinking on his name all of a sudden. Anyway, the their big, better mobile and big men are around. And I think this is a guy who can If you get the right one. This is a guy who could match up pretty good. I think on the outside with with a jump shot. They think you can shoot from the outside. They talk to him about being a Bosch complimentary Bosch comparison player. He said. Yeah, I think that's and I think it could be that there, But I'd like to just be James Wiseman for right now, trying to help this team immediately. He even had some thoughts on Clay Thompson and we'll get into all of that. Yesterday was actually a huge sports news day. The Warriors. Of course, with the NBA draft last night, lots of players landing in spots that I think that mock draft did not have them because it was sort of an all over the place draft. We got to get into what happened in the second round two warriors taken Mannion out of Arizona, which I think is a nickel, Mannion. Pretty good draft selection. You say a one and done player. He started every game as a freshman at Arizona. For Sean Miller last year, and he was an all Pac 10 Pac 10 all Pac 12 Player of the year as well as a Pac 12 rookie. So are all freshmen team. I should say so orders making some interesting picks, and he's a guy who can shoot who can play make a swell is now getting this big man, so we'll see what the status is with Clay Thompson today but on the other side will get a little reaction from.

"We're gonna come after and get other guys realize a little man. I kind of I'm kind of lucky right now to be where I'm at. So hey, already we got our second starter. We're coming for you. And you and you and you and I don't care. I don't know who posted it. But it was a great caption on a tweet earlier with a picture of Bauer as he was being announced as the winner, it says, Look, he showed up for the Virtual ceremony dressed like a bond villain. Hey, he's on his free agency tour. Pick it up hardware. I mean, it's really amazing to think because we think it's some of the great pictures that have been in Cincinnati. In its history, including your beloved Tom Seaver that none had ever carried home. The Cy Young still baffles me, like given all the greatness and for some of it, you got to go back quite a ways in baseball history, but that that you had a big fat zero and now you add one to beautiful thing. Few tax going to stop by and kind of take us through everything going on with covert craziness, with games getting postponed and my idea of expanding the college football playoff. Let's see where that goes. But clearly, James Harden has decided. Well, let me put a fair mountain. What my finger and stick it in the air and see which way the wind is blowing. Do I want out of Houston? Do I want to stay? You know it out. Do I stay yesterday? The rumors were that Chris Paul potentially could be part of a trade and he would change locations and go to the Phoenix Suns team up with Devin Booker in the backcourt. Potentially Russell Westbrook wants out of Houston and now Shams Terranea of Yahoo reporting. He definitely wants out already the Knicks the Clippers have been mention his destinations for him. But today it was James Harden's name who was thrown out there and, according to whoever you want to listen to. Either Harden is ready to move or he's bought in, and he wants to stay with the Rockets. So either James Harden is he's ready and bees buying and wants to stay or he really wants out, and he already has his list of preferred destination. So whatever report you want these air guys with blue check marks. You know, that's how he's all in. He's staying. Here's his list of preferred teams. Yeah, just gonna play both sides. Whatever it is, Let's take James Harden here and figure out what the best thing is for him and where the best fit is because Being 31. We have seen the best of his career, but it doesn't mean he doesn't have another three or four Really good years left. Now of all these players I want Russell Westbrook. Not at all. I want Russell Westbrook. Like I want more kidney stones, which knocked what? I may have more kidney stones, so I don't want that doesn't mean I want Russell Westbrook. I may have more kidney stones, which are not fun, but I don't want Russell Westbrook. I'm okay with Chris. Paul said it last night. Look, if I'm gonna have a guy to come to New York and be a leader and show everybody that it's okay to sign with the Knicks. I'm all right with that. Now. James Harden is different because the guy is a difference maker and let's forget for a second about him falling short in the playoffs and getting tired at the end of every game. If James Harden comes to the Knicks and the Knicks are three or four seed and we lose in the second round of the playoffs because James Harden gets tired. Hey, I will take that six days a week and twice on Sunday. Are you kidding? J. I will take that 100% so hard once ago. Hey, that's awesome. But the best thing for Harden at this point in his career is it's He and Westbrook and Chris Paul like they all needed to get to Mentally a spot where they realize I have to just my game a little bit so I can win. You know, it's now I'm looking at my legacy you have I put up the numbers I've gotten paid. What am I going to do from here on out? Chris Paul is realized that which is why he's been able to jump start his career last year. Russell Westbrook is not. Which is why when you hear Russell Westbrook's name, everybody goes. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, but James Harden. His big thing is the guy gets tired of the playoff games. I mean, how many times have we seen it? The guy gets tired at the end, and he gets the idea. You can't shoot and you can't lead this team to victory because the guy's tired So as long as James Harden goes someplace where you don't have to rely on him and you can tell him Dude, don't worry about your stats anymore..

Did you see the report yesterday from Shams? Terranea. Oh, here it is. What course? Course Yusa. Just send you home work? Yeah. You know, it is as if I if I want to finish my class my master's class they were listening. Well, that's great. Delete. Okay? I want to ask you about this Sham. Sania yesterday reporting that the Philadelphia 70 Sixers They're new management team with Daryl Morey. He's now running things with the 76 years with Elton Brand on the report from Shamsi Rania on the stadium. Is that the 70 Sixers are interested in pursuing and trying to find out interest in a trade for the Rockets star player, James Harden. So I want to ask you about this because You know, the Senate MBA season? We don't quite know what the setup is. We're still waiting to find out when this season will start when free agency will be We know November the 18th will be the MBA draft the Bears the Bulls. Are selecting fourth in the MBA drive. There's a lot to take place over the course of a small amount of time. If they want to start playing basketball before Christmas, which is like the target date, if not the week before, Like the 22nd And so if you were the Philadelphia 70, Sixers and your interested in trading for James Harden, Is that a situation where you are making both Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons available? And if so, Which one would you rather give up on? I would imagine it's Simmons right? Because when James Harden and Joel Embiid be a pretty good pairing together and then Ben Simmons is available. Is that a name that the Chicago Bulls should keep an eye on as maybe not the initial destination, But maybe as a part of a A three team trade where you could pick off a star player who's being sent somewhere? And then you could send away some young assets that you're not interested in any more. Two team If they trade James Harden would be probably rebuilding right. Like that would be the Houston Rockets. You see, that was my first thought is how could the Bulls get involved in this? They have The fourth all over overall pick. They have some young assets that they could use. And my thought was. Can you get in in a three page player deal? Would it take that fourth overall pick or would it just take other assets? Maybe you trade? You know the fourth pick Teo the Rockets, and they trade that fourth pick to the To the 76 or so they can trade that for hard and you know what I mean? Like working it somehow like that, looking at this. I just want the bulls to be involved in this stuff. And I think that the past front office never wanted to be involved in this kind of stuff. And I think now that we have this front office, I think that they are more willing to be involved. In this kind. I mean, lookit ever really look at, you know They came and what they're going to do. And I think that they have a history of also trying to improve teams. You know, they're not just gonna stand Pat and hope this team makes the playoffs and develop this young town. If they see an opportunity to improve the team, they're going to do it. So I think if you can add Simmons, I'm not really that interested in indeed, but I am interested in Simmons. You know, you probably have to move that fourth pick and one of your young assets. It needs a better player, but I think you would have to give up so much that a place a full season. That's true, And that's clearly like he's his ability to stay healthy. His ability to stay in shape are two things that it's on us questioning it. You hear shack on the TNT show throughout the season questioning it's just facts. He's not ready to play games like it's just it's he can't stay healthy. Like it's not indictment on him is in a person or whatever the dude can't stay healthy. So the question is this right? Ben Simmons, if you're a Bulls fan Here's the thing, right? We've we've been desperately looking for that next star. People didn't want Jimmy Bullard to be the guy here long term, namely Gar Forman, John packs and they didn't want him to be the main star here for a long time. I think the fan base was split. I think some people don't really see the true value in Jimmy Butler. I think we saw it in the MBA playoffs this year in the N B, a bubble..

"Lott, Eric, Right, Dwight Hicks, you name Tina Turner. And in the five games into that season, Bill Walsh made a trade which you don't usually see, and he traded a second round draft pick for The 1983 2nd round draft pick to the San Diego Chargers for the disgruntled, defensive, infra Deena was not getting paid, he said. Getting paid lower than a truck driver by the Chargers came and absolutely revolutionized. The 40 Niners defense became A one man wrecking ball just to kind of make a picnic. But Nick Bosa and Aldon Smith would be the guys that the young kids today would know. I would say that Dean, maybe just cause he got to the mountaintop twice, even better, even better, And but those guys, of course, obviously pretty darn good themselves and There's all sorts of incredible stats. I can give you coax that they play the Cowboys in 1981 the regular season. It was his first game any absolutely dominated the game. Have those numbers again that you give me so I brought him up in. Fred Dean said. I'm ready going well said Wait, we wait. I'm going. I'm only going to use you on passing downs for things like Wait What I'm on every down guy and bills like I know what I'm doing. I'm keeping your legs fresh. We're going the distance here and And Fred Deans. Like whatever coach, whatever. And he brought him in copes for only 31 snaps and that sorry 1 2.5 sacks. Okay, right out of the gate. Nine. Quarterback pressure's Okay, So Danny White was absolutely terrorized seven of them quarterback hits and twice he threw holding penalties from the desperate Dita offensive tackle. Who couldn't stop him. Bill Walsh is quote after the game quote. He might have had more sex, but the fellow blocking him kept grabbing his face mask. That was the only way they could block him. So I love when, when you Khun give credit to a lineman like that for because, like You said he forced two holding penalties. There's a lot of times we just look at the offensive line and we can all man and committed a penalty when something has no choice like that's what he has to do. He impact is like a forced error. In tennis friends, You make them make the mistake Niners win that game 45 to 14 changed Ever easy on then, of course, all the way through the Super Bowl and then all the way through the Superbowl again in 84 in 1983. The year they lose to the Redskins in the NFC championship game, 17.5 sacks that year for Fred Dean. So what a great great player we had him on the show back when he was inducted. I think he did some Super Bowl radio row in the past and 17.5 of the season. I mean, that's always in the hall, but itself anyway, a great memory. Hopefully, the 40 Niners Do something for him and our condolences, of course to his family and all his teammates who, some of whom you know, are listening right now. Ronnie Lott. Those guys too. So you listen to the campy our morning show on camera and can be RFM San Francisco. The sports leader. So, yeah. Fred Dean, We'll talk to Maddie Miyoko about that. Just a second. But you're ready for this. It might even be worthy copes of a little of a little Michael. A fox news alert. Here. Dial that up here. You're down with the shamans, Terranea. We talked about him as the as the As the sort of the wonder kind. The superstar beat guy who's pattern his life after won't even the get the guy who broke that the president had Covad? Yes, that was insane. But he has a report this morning that the Warriors are interested in acquiring that a doo doo doo doo. Laker Big man, Dwight Howard. Once again Shams terranea of the athletic reports. The Warriors have interest in Laker Big man, Dwight. Howard, who, by the way, played well this year for the N ba champions, so So if we're talking about this during the break he he elicits a visceral response for a lot of warriors like you. People are a lot of warrior fans just heard that wouldn't know absolutely not Don't want that guy and I'm like, bring that Diane Dude, he's almost a foot her disguise a Hall of Famer, whether you like it or not, mostly because of the embassy. Everybody gets into this guy's led the league in rebounding like five or six different times, and he's a good bench player, right? Is it mostly personal what people don't like about maybe I think part of its who's remember He wanted to be a Laker back in 20. 11 12 13 somewhere in there. He like went there and then wasn't really the impact player they hoped would be And I think you got a pretty good year but averaged a double double for his career. He's a multiple time All Star. I think he needed a role in some of these guys like your most spaces. You're you're Andrew Bogut's become better role players when they've got the tools around them so 12345 different times. He led the league in rebounding and blocks before I think he's done legal blocks twice. He's been all defensive player Newman's tumors liver In his older days, he'd be broken the league Four's a 19 year old by the way out of high school and then has played all the way up until through this year's a 34 year old three time defensive player of the year. You want that guy's mind, but here's what he was this past year. 19 minutes a game only took four shots in the game, you know, but but still grabbed seven rebounds a game 7.3 rebounds a game. So I mean, in 18 minutes, grabbing seven boards, you'll take the average 7.5 points to mean this's your Steve Kerr. You start this guy and he plays the beginning in the first quarter, and he's gonna play with the beginning in the third quarter, and then you probably won't see much of them again. Or you put him in for defensive sets near the end of service. I mean, he's out there because, well, now you're getting late in the in an N B a game and there's there's no position. I'm all foreigners, No center zone. I mean the warriors. As we know it's not exactly the deepest roster. It ain't ain't all Leandro Barbosa and most Bates out there any more to Murphy's think about all the big men in the West. You're going to have to defend your going to go up against Yokich. You're going to go up against Anthony Davis, who's likely to re sign with the Lakers. These are these are pieces you're going to have to square off against the Warriors are lacking in size. Plus when you face the heat the finals, you have to go. It's Bama idea. Eso Anyway, Listen, bundling. If Shams reports it, it's true. OK, so as we've no member, I read this story on the kid. He started doing this in high school in Illinois. We want a new tree or high school, which is that Really famous Chicago Suburban high school John Hughes film the Breakfast Club and Ah, and he was like in high school contacted world She's like I want to be you. "I don't know how up to date I am on it. I sold that the Lakers and Clippers of voted and express their feelings tonight that the embassy season should not continue. And you know, I don't know how old exactly you are events. But I'm 34 years old, and certainly I've never seen anything like this in my lifetime. And I guess the thing that I kind of keep coming back to is that It's about time that we see something like this. And it's about time. I've seen something like this in my lifetime. I think that that what you saw play out across multiple sports today. It's exactly what the concern was with athletes. Once they resumed, you know, play after the Corona virus, it was. We don't want the focus to leave the issues and what's important today, players across baseball and basketball made a decision to put the focus back on issues. In this country that are extremely important. And I commend them. You know, it's it's something that I feel like the word unprecedented has been thrown around a lot lately over the past few months, But this is It's an unprecedented situation with what we're seeing with these athletes taking a stand, making their voices be heard trying to evolve, change and and I think that it's courageous. I think it takes a lot of bravery, and I think it's something that Keep the conversation in playing above all else. That is so critically important right now that we continue to focus on these things, What else our country and the issues that exists and anything that that Forces us and makes us look at these issues and continue to have these conversations, I think is a positive. Yeah, and Bob I'm totally with you and well said, And thanks so much for your time, Bob Wankel of crossing Broad. Appreciate it. Then back now, talk talk to you soon. So there you go. There's Bob checking in. And yeah, he touched on because here's the thing. This is an evolving situation here. And what we have. I'll get the exact tweet up. But Shamsher Urania just in the past, I want to say 2025 minutes or so. Has come out and said that we could have massive changes here when it comes the MBA in the next couple of days. And what are we seeing? Well, quote from Shams, Terranea sources. Every team Besides Lakers and Clippers voted to continue playing LeBron James said in meeting he wants owners to be more involved, slash take action. This following a tweet where, he said. Basically, the Lakers and the Clippers are voting to not play this season, They voted to boycott the MBA season. And when you're talking about LeBron James, the Lakers and the Clippers, those are I mean one. It's the biggest star of the league has. It's the biggest franchise. The league has its the second favorite if you will in the Clippers, one of their other big stars Kwai Leonard, like there's so much That goes into that statement, and we're gonna have a lot to unpack here. But I mean, we're talking about LeBron James and the Lakers, possibly not playing any more playoff basketball, even if the MBA wants to the Clippers, not playing any more basketball. And what this is going to do to the league and what it's going to do to the bubble. There's there's a lot of things here, and I'll say this. For LeBron James. I'm not surprised. I'm not surprised. LeBron is doing this for LeBron James. For all the criticisms that the guy gets That guy is active. As you can possibly ask for me. He goes out. He builds schools. He donates money all the time he's had shows committed that shows social justice or at least having discussions. He He started a voting organization in the last couple of months. And right now he's spending a lot of time trying to get volunteers in certain areas. Ah, I forget all the exact details on that. But he's trying to get people out to volunteer to help a voting like that guy. Has been incredibly socially active, so he's not a guy that just talks that he shows up. He walks in, and he's been very public invisible about it. So now you got LeBron James. And the Lakers, and it seems like they're not going to play and I don't know what that means. Odds are just just my gut feeling right now. Here in the moment is if LeBron James is saying he's not going to play and the Lakers air with him and they voted, it said they're not going to play and the Clippers have voted and said they're not going to play. It looks to me like this is the end of the bubble. I don't know how you just write out the Lakers and the Clippers. When that's your one and two seeds, you can do it. But the other question is, are the other teams going to follow suit? And that's the thing that I wonder about. So Keith Pompeii. The Philadelphia Inquirer just just tweeted out a few minutes ago that Doc Rivers in this meeting At the end, beheld the bubble told the players that Whatever they have to say whatever they feel needs to be heard. Would be heard and would be much louder if they stayed and played. He basically said that their power is their talent, and if they stay in play, it'll help get the message out further. And you know, he's got a pretty good point. Because think about like for Doc Rivers to say that after he spoke post game the other night, and he talks for about 2.5 minutes in the video's everywhere, it's easy to find talking about being Ah, the child of I believe his dad.

There's also I saw on Twitter that Brody bandwagon and is going to speak to the media on a zoom conference coming up on a little while and then this one that I think is gonna have. I guess I don't really understand this. I don't know where he's going. But I guess you know Shams Terranea from Yahoo Sports. I guess he's not the clinic. Yes, big but he's a good N BA reporters. He says the Nets are very interested in their next head coach being Gregg Popovich may Of course. Where is he going to be leaving the Spurs yet? Because he wants Becky Hammon to replace him now? Yes. So his runs over and he might be the next minutes And he knows like every other coach in the MBA knows the only way you could win a championship is if you have superstars and guess who has superstars the Nets? Well, at least they have Guys who have presentations of being superstars now, whether or not with Francis the store. Stop it, Kevin. We'll be outstanding. He has a four years all right time out. He's coming off of a very serious injury. I know. Alright. They paid him $40 million to do not play. I've heard that all right, so I want to see him on the basketball court doing Kevin Durant thinks I look up. I tell you, I love the guy's a player. I've never had an issue with him as a player plays hard. Aye. He's phenomenal with 7 ft. Doing what he's able to do, and he's incredible. I'm not. Look. I wanted him for the next site. I told you that, but the moment he blew out his Achilles. I was like man. If he comes in the next will probably play. I don't know a total of like 110 games in four years. You know that That's probably the case would have been the case with the next So you know, you guys got him and I could tell you as I'd like to see him play. I think you're going to see him play a lot. This year. He's had a lot of time off added time off seasons, not going to start till December or January. It's just interesting to me that that's I mean, I understand why you would go in that door and he's not a dope. No, he's going to go somewhere where you can win. I get exactly and add to his legacy. No question. I just I was surprised by that. I probably shouldn't have been on those coaches that had all these great players. You know and benefited from all those great players, much like Phil Jackson did, you know, say ah, little different. Everything. Obviously Sean Marks came from San Antonio. So he has a relationship with About what? Why is it different? Because he knew he never had the two best players. Maybe Kevin Durant. He had the Admiral Lee had Ginobli. He had Parker. I mean, come on. He had a ton of great players. When did Gregg Popovich of Kevin Durant? So he will now well, if he if he comes here, I mean, Phil Jackson at Kobe and Shaq Kwai Leonard. I mean, he had Danny Green on, you know, it was like a six man or whatever the hell he was for that kind of players. I'm just telling he's had and he's made some of them Grant loves. Look, I'm telling you We all know what the N B a is about? And quite frankly, you know, would Kyrie and Kevin Durant want bright Popovich? I don't see why they would certainly think they would love to have miss head coach. Yes, of course. Like I said, I was just surprised by seeing I'm not surprised at all by that. And and then the reason for that is, I think, twofold one because he knows he has really good players here in Brooklyn, at least on paper and number two Look, maybe maybe Becky Hammon becomes the head coach of the San Antonio Spurs First woman head coach, replacing Popovich, who hired her as assistant coach. I mean, all of that stuff is legacy things. And you know, when I think of Gregg Popovich, I think that you know this is the way that he would be thinking. Yeah, and she has coached them in Summer league, So it's not like it's something she hasn't done before. Of course, yes, yes, She has the chops to do it. There's no question about it. And this is on me because I meant to look this up when I forgot, But al sitting there looking like waiting The Karl versus Mark Jackson thing. What was this? The Twitter feud Was this realizes this weekend or was this something that goes back to last week? I believe it was this past weekend. They were talking about them. I guess. Mark Jackson criticized him on the broadcast, and then he went at him back at him on Twitter. Criticized who? George Karl. George Karl. Why would he? I guess he was pretty self. Oh, he was criticizing Carmelo Anthony's defense that nobody talked him out of play defense, including George Karl. And then George. Karl went to him. And And who said something to the effect of how does it feel that when you after you left the job in state Golden State area? Yeah. Then the dynasty happened. So two old guys fighting on Twitter? Yeah, I like you. You know, I know you do. What's amazing to me is somebody has to teach somebody how to play defense. No defences. Effort effort. Yeah, that's why when they say in the hockey anyway, they say, there's a guy that's a 200 ft player. What does that guy? What does that mean? That means that guy plays both ends of the ice. And he shows up and he plays every single day. And that's one of the reasons why, you know, watching the other night with Lakers. I'm not shocked because I think Jeff Van Gundy does a really good job, and I think he is critical and will be critical. And this is probably one of the reasons why he can't coach anymore is because he'd be too critical. They would drive him crazy toe watch players like LeBron James. And Anthony Davis not hustle back on defense. Like we saw in Saturday night. Yes, when they did now, In fairness, the players they would have been defending was that they were with but you're right. They did not move and Van Gundy called him out for it. It was actually pretty funny to see when they showed the replay that they were just standing there watching play at the other end, as I think back to embarrassing Dig. It was Carmelo on a 211 with McCollum. I don't remember. It might have been Lillard. I'm not sure. But they were going down the flight..

John Gonzales of ABC seven in D. C tweeting working my sources, but apparently changing the name will be old news. When a bombshell report is expected a surface from the Washington Post. There's growing buzz that unflattering news about the organization could come out in just hours will be live with the latest Mike Freeman, Long time NFL columnist. You might remember him from being a guest here on the D a show and then getting into a Twitter spat with more as And so he's never going to come on the show ever again. Tweeted. This is why all of the minority owners were abandoning ship on Dan Snyder. This is going to be bad. Mike Freeman Wass, formerly of the New York Times and The Washington Post. So would have been great to have along the show. But of course, he doesn't come on the show anymore because Mariah's decided to pick a fight with him on Twitter. Sile you want. It's true. He hasn't come on in four years. Well before there was any Twitter fight's picked, which is why I felt fun about it. He blows people off. But you definitely set fire to whatever chances we may have had to have a guy that used to work in The Washington Post and covers the NFL. From joining us on the show to actually talk about a Washington post story about the NFL that could Iraq the sports landscape. Sure if I took it from 2% 0% then I own that. Yes. So we're waiting to see monitoring when this story is going to come out. All things that are swirling around the social media and twitterverse are all very damning. Who knows if that will be that bad, But what we know is this. There are two parts of the sports landscape that desperately wants something to be really bad about Dan Snyder. Number one. The people that have worked for him or covered him that can't stand him from a non football standpoint. He has just made a lot of enemies from his tyrannical approach. Being a Richie rich of sorts that pushes people away that is defiant that it's egomaniacal that is stuck in his ways and refuses to give anybody else credit. Dan Snyder has a lot of enemies a lot. People don't like working for him or working with him. The other side of the people that are hoping something befalls him very terribly is fans. Washington football fans have been stuck in a state of despair for 20 years under his reign, his reign of terror, his reign of a new coach every couple of years, his reign of keeping his cronies employees that even if they are clearly doing a poor job of them excuse away all of the losing like Bruce Allen. Ah guy that has been incompetent in terms of building a winner or a stable franchise. Football fans in the Beltway desperately want something bad to be in this report. To get him to sell and let me tell you GIF in one fell swoop. We get the team name change. It's been offensive for years and riel owner Instead of Dan Snyder Boy that is a W upon a W for Washington football fans. And the NFL in general, if you can wipe clean Dan Snyder's smudgy fingerprints all over that franchise and the league if you can wipe that out and get the name changed. Oh, boy, Is that a win? So this is a huge week, potentially for Washington football fans and the NFL and NFL Without Dan cider is a better, stronger NFL. So we will monitor this. If the story comes out in the next hour, obviously will address it. We'll talk about it. If not, we will wait to see if it comes out later on today. Now from a college basketball standpoint. Another win for the G League. The number one ranked recruit. In the class of 2021. This is the number one kid Jonathan, come. Inga five star prospect. Was looking hard at Texas Tech. Has decided to forgo college basketball. And instead go to the G League. Another big name going to the G leagues Select team. This has become a very enticing option for blue chip recruits. They said it going overseas or playing college because they get to make big money the same money they would make by taking under the table payments in college basketball, get paid. Legitimately and good cash and you don't have to go overseas to do it. A lot of these kids want to get paid, but I didn't want to go to China where Israel didn't wanna go to Greece. You go have to do that. I don't want to have to go to Australia to go get paid. They want to play stateside. They want to get paid, because that's what they're worth college basketball programs paying him onto the table. I'd rather get the cash and play stateside will now they get both the best of both worlds. Get to stay stateside. Get to get paid. Now. Is anybody gonna be watching Julie games that arena? Maybe. Maybe not. It's certainly not going to Cameron Indoor. What You get exposure on TV? Certainly. Dominga saying quote. With the G League. It's going to help me get to the end of a a lot more than college. They'll teach me how to get open on the court and reach my goal to be drafted in 2021 potential Top five pick in the N B. A draft and The athletics shams Terranea. Reporting that his deal is worth about 1/2 mil. Whoa! Really cash I remember Jalen Green also Projected Top five pick in next year's end a draft also going to the D League. You've got players going to the G league instead of going on to college campuses, and this is really really bad for college basketball. That two top five picks or saying we'd prefer to play in the D League and go to the college campuses. This is one thing that college is always worried about if there was ever.

The NFL. I don't think you do with the N B A is doing because the players only play once a week. You're not going to live in a hotel for a week just to play one. You know, they're gonna be traveling so The NFL's also can't Can't really do a bubble, either. Um, I just think Because you saw the way you see their report from Shams Terranea for Sean home. He went wild, like five feet out by you to get food aren't particularly like Yeah, like, if if if it's stuff like that is going to prevent players from playing. Then you guys my guys minds will not even play because if you think guys aren't going to be sneaking out to do whatever on their own time when they think nobody's looking and your teammates are going to cover for him. You might as well not even play. Yeah, Yeah, I on its premise. I understand. You're asking the MBA specifically, you have these players who are going to be within the confines of a very small bubble within the hotel they're staying at for upwards of three months. It's an impossible task for you know, if you were younger athlete who's wealthy, who's you know wants to have a good time? I mean, you know is a different mindset. Then then you know someone who's older. Who's you know who has a family. So I A. I'm trying not to think of it that way, Joe, but you certainly have a point. And I think so. I just think I just My bare concern is, actually are these guys going to be Ramped up enough to play in an empty gym. When was the last time any of these guys played an MP Jan? A real game high school? Probably like their freshman year at high school, You know, I mean, like, a legit, competitive game. Yeah, you go. I mean, it may even be before high school. It may just be, you know, Peewee league. I mean, they get a lot of these guys get Teo get together in the off season. They have full court games. But it's For with everything on the line to your point. Yeah, you could be going back to you know, middle school years. Yes. So that's my They're concerned that these guys are maybe gonna like the newness of it is going to be there for about a week. Then, after about a week to these guys are going to say, I think I'm over it. I'm good. I don't need to play any more in front of an empty arena for nothing in my team has no shot. That's that's my bigger, worried and Somebody goes 10 feet outside the bubble. That's my bigger worry. You know, but I think I look like everybody else. I'll be watching when it first starts. But that's that's my bigger fear that these guys are just going to say. Well, listen, I don't need this. I'm good. You can keep the rest of my salary. I'm good. Yeah, no, I It's possible, Joe. I appreciate the call is always Yeah, the more when the Sixers officially arrived in Orlando, by the way, Matisse Sybil Sixes Rookie is you know his profession is basketball player but his hobby his love. Is film and photography. Aunt. He has created his own YouTube channel to document life inside the N B a bubble, and he put out his first episode back on Saturday, and he put a new one out. I believe tonight. I wish I haven't seen you at which you know, after you watch that, and you see the protocol and what their limited to then you you could always paint the picture in your head with the video. Really? Um Makes it more clear. Wealthy or not. These guys are being asked to stay in a standard hotel room. Nothing is anything wrong with that, But it's a very small room. Ah, whether you're there or in a game room, which they have or at a pool. If you're not doing that, you're playing basketball. Oh, and fishing. But remember, that's all well and good for maybe a week. Then you're going to weeks, three weeks. The Sixers don't play a game of meaning for three full weeks. Three weeks of being quarantined is before you even play anything that matters. And then you have eight games and then you have his star of the play offs. You know, winning. This might be the most difficult, eh? NBA title TTO win in the league's history. Because of that..
"shams terranea" Discussed on 94WIP Sports Radio
"So 2020 just keeps getting weirder. Because I woke up today seeing a bunch of tweets about Whoa, JJ, Adrian! Whoa, DNA rosky, who is the preeminent basketball scoop guy, You know, he's always He just knows everything first, like Sham's Terranea is the other guy. He was a won't disciple. You know, it's just it's won't like. Whoa, JJ is the king of this stuff. And I'm like, Okay, well, what did won't do now? Clearly he's dropped some great basketball news. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Hey, gave the F bomb to a senator in an email and that story blew up now. I don't think it's a big deal, frankly, and I don't want to dig into the politics of it all, but it was funny and so 2020 If you will to see that become a story, at least for a couple of hours. It's just It's such a ridiculous time that we're living through and you know, it's hard to picture world using that kind of language. But, you know, he's speaking his mind. He's an adult. I wonder there's some sort of previous his previous history. Between him and that senator because I've received a lot of things that annoy me from strangers. Whether it's email text whatever. I've never felt the need to respond in that way, like 99% of the time. You just ignore it, don't you? Yeah, especially because you got to think about too like that's won't you know, like that's a guy with a lot of status. And you have so much to lose from dropping an F bomb on a guy and for him to do it, you know, bleep youto a senator, and then that senators like well and one. It's It's kind of lame for the senator to just go. Oh, well, you know, he just he said, a bad word to may, like, Come on, man. Are you really going public of that? But He decided to it so now Whoa! Just in the news for dropping a bleep it a senator. So, you know, fun times fun times in 2020 or so. Outside of that, a couple of things here that have been going on so One. I thought this was a little bit weird. But the Jags did announce that they're trying to have 25% capacity at their games. Just given everything that's going on with Florida right now, I don't get the point of that. You think of the discussions that are going on right now, with trying to figure out safety protocols for the NFL, it's It's just a A weird time for that. It seems a little tone deaf, but they did make that announcement. We'll see if there's any merit to that whatsoever in the coming weeks here, But they did say that earlier today, nothing want to get Teo is, um and you know, let's let's get on this in a little bit in depth. So what happened a couple of hours ago is the Eagle's released a statement. Onto Sean Jackson. And so what I want to do is I'm going to read a brief portion of that statements. He can actually get an idea of what they said. And then I'll walk you through the punishment and where that's at so First A bit of a statement. Quote. Philadelphia Eagles do not tolerate hate towards any individual or group. We believe in respect and equality for all races, ethnicities and fates. We as an organization want to help be an instrument for positive change. This can only occur through strong delivered actions in a commitment to learn and grow. We have had a number of construction come or constructive conversations over the last few days, not only with Sean Jackson but also with many other players, members of the organization and leaders in the community. That has led us to the point where we and he are ready for the next steps. So what those next steps are is that to Sean was penalized. So the team find him and they did it for conduct detrimental to the team. So that's going to be the punishment to Sean Jackson. He's not going to be suspended. He's not going to be cut. He's going to stay with the team and they they find him. However many dollars, so that is going to be the extent of the punishment. And what they've also done. Is they have gotten them in touch with people within the Jewish community, and he will be speaking with them. The whole idea's he's going to learn about wise comments were just so intolerant and hateful and ridiculous. And hopefully he learns from this now. Obviously there's a range of opinions on this Sean Jackson and what you think, he said. Or rather, it's clear, but he said, it's what you think he was trying to say. And what kind of person he actually is. Now I've never met to Sean Jackson. I haven't had any conversations with him, You know. So everything I know about the Sean Jackson is the same that you probably know about the Sean Jackson. You watch press conferences. You see how he is on the field like That's about as far as it goes. He had a rap album. You're a couple of songs like, I don't Know. I don't know what to make it to Sean Jackson. I've no idea what kind of guy is it's very surface level exposure, but My general takeaway is I think he was a guy that was trying to make A point that that has merit and he did the absolute worst, dumbest, ridiculous, possible way to try to make that point. And with that, being the case he needed to be punished, and the Eagles are doing the right thing by punishing him whether they should have suspended over find him. I don't know what the fine is. I just think it's important that you got punished and they made that decision. And now you just got to hope that it goes forward in the best way possible that he actually is willing to learn from this from the meetings. He asked questions. He you know, embraces the things that are being taught because the path that he's on now the role models that he has all those things are bad. And he's gotta change. And if he doesn't and the Eagles know that whether it's from observing him in these meetings that he has or things that he does behind the scenes than you know what they should come. Whether it's a public post or not of him putting out something ridiculous. It doesn't need to be that. But if he does some behind the scenes they don't like and he's on notice. Then, like you know, you gave me enough time You've given him a chance. And if he doesn't learn from it, then he had his chance and you move on. But that's the status of things right now with Sean Jackson. He did get fined and he's going to be with the team and that's that's pretty much it. Well, we'll see. You know how the rest of the learning process Goes for two Sean.
"shams terranea" Discussed on ESPN Chicago 1000 - WMVP
"In the MBA Shams Terranea reporting that wizard star Bradley Beal will not play in the restart for the MBA season due to a shoulder injury. There were concerns about bill suggesting he wasn't going to play because he wasn't comfortable with everything going on with Kobe, 19 to begin with. What a shoulder injury. The Wizard's star won't be there. The Wizard's not expected to make the playoffs anyway. To me, it's that's not a huge idea. But he is a star. Victrola Depot being the first Bradley Beal being the second that won't be a part of what's taking place in Orlando. Victory Depot, by the way, hasn't played this year. So again, another justifiable guy not playing right like it's not like this is LeBron who's fighting for a championship. Johannes fighting for a championship. These air guys on teams probably not going to be there in the end. One who hasn't played and another who who's injured. So do you know when the deadline is where MBA players have to say they're they're tapping out or a question. I don't I don't know that. I think there was a deadline to say whether or not you're going I think Bill said he was going to go now. Whether or not they play because there's I read something yesterday that he was going to go all along, But whether or not he was actually going to participate was up in the air. So it sounds like the Seinfeld episode of reserving the car. Anybody can reserve the car. Got to hold on to the red. Keep the reservation. Yes, Absolutely. Chris Black Pap oil sitting in for David Caplan today, here on ESPN 1000 and the ESPN Chicago app. Let me ask you this pat. Are my eyes lying to me when I think I've seen the best quarterback who have ever seen play football and that that quarterback is Patrick Mahomes. I don't want this to come off as a a hot take because I've thought about this at length. I feel like when I watch Patrick Mahomes play football. You said it about what 15 minutes ago that we've never seen something like this on a football field the way Di Elice tickly. He brings something that we have not seen at that position. Now, if you factor in the success he's had on top of that. With not only the team being very good getting a Super Bowl win this last season. Personally the MVP and in two seasons as a starter, having 76 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Am I crazy to suggest that He may go down as the greatest quarterback we've ever seen Play that sport of football. I don't think you're crazy, but here's I think you may have fallen in love. After a handful of dates again. It's just The sample size is not. It's damn impressive. It doesn't get any better than an M v. P on a Super Bowl, right? But It isn't a huge body of work. I I feel like you're following him falling in love after kind of a prisoner of the moment, so to speak, you know when when she's right. She's right. I mean, and you look at on the first site three point shooters in the N B A. You know, you see what Steph Curry did initially and you say, Okay, this is this is the best three point shooter I've ever seen My life. And then you continue to watch. And then it continues to prove out that you're correct. I feel like You could take the angle that it's on ly a handful of games, But if you look through the history of quarterbacks in the National Football League, they usually at this level, the best of the best all time. They hit pretty early on. Like Dan Marino in his second year was an M V. P in 1984 his first full years. A starter combined with the second year did 78 touchdowns. 38 interceptions and more touchdown passes than Mahomes. But he had more interceptions. Mahomes really took care of the football last year, five interceptions Pretty incredible. The one thing is Marino never got that Super Bowl homes already has That's Super Bowl. You can run through all the names. John Elway, Joe Montana, Brett Farve, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, which he is the greatest quarterback to ever play the position. Because of the Super Bowl rings, the six Super Bowl rings and in his 1st 2 full seasons as a starter, he threw 46 touchdowns and 26 reception. So like Brady. It took a little bit of time to fully click to fully become an M V p in 2017. There's only one name that really the moment he got on the scene. He became one of the best players in the National Football League. And that was Kurt Warner. Kurt Warner won the M V P in 1999 and in 2000 won And won a Super Bowl. And in his 1st 2 seasons as starter, he had 62 touchdowns and 31 interceptions. And we remember those Rams teams being so impressive the greatest show on turf. Really? It's Dan Marino, who didn't get Super Bowl. It's Kurt Warner, who didn't have quite the stats that Mahomes has had. Those are the two names that stack up when you look at the 1st 2 seasons. Off someone's career because otherwise you're looking at guys like Montana, who won back to back M v PS, but he didn't win those until his later later in his career, right. He didn't want those until 89 90 Elway Gun MVP in his fifth season, but then, when Super Bowls until later on, Profar won three straight MBPs 95 96 97. Boy his first couple of years. He wasn't playing at that level, and he led the league in interceptions in his second season. So you know you go through all the night names that we have in football history. And and I think we could stay at some point, you know, maybe at the end of this contract 10 years. Holmes may go down as the best we've ever seen play the position. There's no question he may. I'm not just ready to anoint him that right now. I also think it's fit. When you look at what Kurt Warner had, and the greatest show on turf. You know, he had Orlando Pace He had Marshall Faulk e. I mean he had pieces around him. That were Hall of Fame level players. Torry Holt. Story holds Andi, you look at.
