Sheriff seeking what drove 'mad man' to shoot up dance hall

"Authorities in California continue to search for a motive behind Saturday's mass shooting at a Monterey Park ballroom dance hall that killed 11. Ellie sheriff Robert Luna says 72 year old who can tran had a rifle at home hundreds of rounds of ammunition and appeared to be manufacturing gun silencers. Tran killed 11 people at the star ballroom during lunar new year celebrations. What drove a madman to do this? We don't know. But we intend to find out. The sheriff says there are many theories. There's information out there that the suspect may have committed these crimes and I'm paraphrasing due to jealousy or some relationship issues. Tran went to another ballroom after, but Brandon Shea wrestled the gun from him. Some of these people I know personally, they come to our studio. It's a tight knit community and hope they get killed from this tragic event. Police say as they closed in on trans Sunday, he took his own life. I'm Julie Walker.

"shea shea" Discussed on Bob and Sheri

"I'm an idiot. Natasha, when it comes to things like this. Okay, idiot. Let's get to work. Baseball. Facebook, Facebook, Facebook, follow barbecue on Facebook, get all kinds of great stuff. 1 billion. That is how many active users Facebook now has. Facebook Facebook, Facebook. Facebook. She switches on her computing machine and looks to see what her friends have been up to on Facebook. The electric friendship generator. There's this thing called Facebook. Facebook. Facebook page. We have 5 likes. You name it. News channel, YouTube, Hulu, Facebook, Twitter, dot this, dot that dot everything. Store in July. Or you can follow bob and sherry on Twitter at bob and cherry. Twitter, winner. What are you tweeting? And we'd love to hear from you. DM us on Facebook or Twitter anytime. Just follow me here. No one. Twitter. So get social with bob and cherry and Facebook, Twitter, or at bob and cherry on Instagram. When I was coming up Instagram was a dope deal. You know what I'm saying? Get the tails and bob and cherry dot com. Now, let's open up the bobbin sherry, archive vault. So I've been hearing from a lot of listeners about their relationships with their own grandmothers because we talked about last week. I don't know how we got on the subject. But bob mentioned in passing that his whole childhood, his grandma Shay shake had never offered him anything to eat, which made Todd and I we were astounded because in our families, that's what grandmas do. Primary function seems to be to feed you, even if it's not healthy things, even if it's junk, like grandma's love to feed their grandchildren. And you never had that bob. And that's wonderful. I have to just say, you know, that I recall. Does that cover you unless she gives you grief in the afterlife? Exactly. Exactly. You guys know I want you. I don't want to see her coming. The bob's version of the afterlife will include Shea Shea going and another thing. I don't appreciate all the things you said about me on that show. I know. Seriously, no, I'm not even joking. I worry about that. I look over, there's my father and my grandmother, they're both shaking their heads. Well, you know that book that I read that I told you about the journey of souls, like I know you don't want to hear about the baby souls, but even though it's true. But in this book, there's this wonderful book called journey of souls, and it's this Doctor Who it's a book of case studies of patients that he has worked with who have passed life recollections, basically. So bob already hates it. But one of the things that these people and they come from all different walks of life and their stories are also different, but they're consistent. Their lives are so different, but the things they describe is happening to them are so consistent. And these people, they don't know each other, they don't live in the same cities. I mean, it's just wild. It's a fascinating book, journey of souls. Anyway, one of the things that happens to us when we die is we have what is basically a life review where we look at the things that we came to earth this time to learn. Did we succeed, you know, did we practice love and kindness and understanding? Did we, did we do as the creator would have us do? What mistakes did we make? Where do we still need work, blah, blah, blah. Life review. But not one of the case studies in this book has someone going, oh my God, my grandmother was waiting for me and she was so ticked off at all the trash we talked about. So I think you're safe. I do think you're safe there. But I don't know. I don't know where I get that because it's so bizarre if you're fortunate enough to enter the afterlife and live in Paradise with Jesus, you know, it's nobody's going to be criticizing you. But whether it was the way I was brought up, religiously or whatever it is, honest to God in the back of my mind once in a while I do think the two of them staring at me, you know, my father and her going. Oh, nice. How many stations are you on? How many people you had 900,000 people that you're talking to this about us? You know what I'm going to say to them, here's what I'm going to say to them. At the age of 16, I didn't ask for nothing. I paid for myself for the age of 16. Nobody had paid for my college, a car. Nobody had to, you know, I didn't come to you, Shea. I didn't come to uche and say, could you help me out a little bit of college money? Paradise is happy your family members criticize you while you try to defend yourself. The man who ruined Paradise. I will say who is it a comedian we had on that was talking about spending time that you see your family and he goes, oh my God, these are the people I've been spending the afterlife with. I tried to get away from it. It's gonna be a sizzling smoke and hot bob and cherry happy hour. Happening tonight. It's a little barbecue with slather slytherin sauce and the master of meats the people's movie critic Lamar. The only thing that brings joy to a vegan is to be able to tell other people they're vegan, okay? Gonna slather it on dot com, use the coat Lamar BQ 22 and get your own sauce that so good. I tried to burp up the taste a couple of times. I mean, not a barbecue. It's a Lamar barbecue lie from Lamar's backyard tonight. Facebook Live 7 p.m. eastern on the bob and sherry Facebook page. It's the stuff we wouldn't couldn't shouldn't do on the regular show. The oddcast podcast on the free bob and sherry app. Bob Lacey, this one is just for you. I pulled this story and decided to do it on the show. It's our gift to you. This one's just for you. This is the story. This is the story of lanfranco cirillo. He's 63. He is an Italian architect, and he is the architect who designed properties for 44 Russian oligarchs and Vladimir Putin's infamous $1 billion Black Sea palace. Well, the Italian authorities have busted him. Seizing his assets, which are worth close to $200 million. His helicopter, his homes, huge piles of cash, huge buckets of jewelry, works of art by Picasso and Cezanne. I mean, this guy had serious cash and prizes in his incredible homes in Italy. The assets were all taken by Italian authorities because and here's what they said. He has significant wealth completely out of proportion to his declared taxable income. So he would have gotten to keep this money had he just paid his taxes. But because he cheated on his taxes while designing things for war criminals and Vladimir Putin, now he's going to go to prison in Italy. He violated ladies and gentlemen. The number one rule of the bobbin sherry show, which is, don't do something illegal while you're doing something illegal. Like no. To pull back, okay? The Black Sea, that legendary Black Sea palace. It's insane. What Vladimir well, the people of Russia go hungry and have really crap infrastructure in terms of like the electrical grid. He lives in this incredible estate on the Black Sea property. Just absolutely wild. The architect said that, yes, he designed the building, but it was commissioned by a private group and that he had no dealings with Putin. But even the Kremlin said, oh, what a lie. You're a dirty rotten liar who lies. That's complete BS. And now the Italian authorities have it all. The paintings, the money, the property, the houses, all of it, and he's going to go to

Right, not for them. But I was born in Queens a mile from Shea stadium. So it was not tragic for me. But the point is, that was 1986. I was 23. And I was at yaddo, which was a huge deal for me because obviously I want to be a literary writer and I got to go to yaddle where Cheever was so it meant so much to me. But I met this guy named Alan chews. And Alan says, now, how do you describe him? Alan Woods? Well, he was a big kind of bear of a guy. He was a book critic and a professor. And he had an NPR bookshelf. And he was a sweet fellow. Oh, yeah, very sweet. And he was very kind to me because he said, hey, you want to come with me? Just in case something happened to ask, how long am I going to have to be at home? They said at least until the inauguration. This must understand that people once showed up at your grandmother's house. Tell us about that experience. I received a call from my grandmother, it's woman is my everything. "It's the bob and sherry show. It seems like a waste of time, but share it go nuts. What do I care and where to go home? With 5, is he the worst? Is he an unspeakable abomination? Does the very thought of him make your skin crawl? Laughs at his own jugs, but otherwise he's a bad and sharing. That attitude and subordination. She's not great. And now, broadcasting from the palatial bob and cherry studios, it's bob and sherry. Your body in here, come on in here. It is the bob and sherry, I'm so excited about this. I feel that I have been validated in an opinion which always makes me feel good. And you are, you are validated too. It wasn't your grandma black hair, but there was somebody in your family that would do the same thing that my mother would do to green beans. If you're a longtime listener, you know, that my mom just had a thing about cooking the heck out of everything. And especially green beans, I'd come home from school and I swear at four 30 in the afternoon, green beans would be on the stove. You know, the green giant green beans, and they're boiling away. Maybe not really boiling, but they are a simmering. And we didn't eat telek around 6 30, so those green beans, whatever nutrients were in them. Gone. Who was it in your family that used to do that? Because I have validation here. My mom, my mom thought that a can of del Monte corn needed to simmer on the stove from dawn till dusk before it could be edible. Exactly. And of course, you know. To her credit, she also cooked a pork chop for about a day and a half. And the only way you get that pork leather down was with a spoonful of corn juice, which was what it was by the time we got out of the pot. I had to put it on the floor and hold it down with my foot to rip the meat out. It was just so I saw this post on lied, it's what people have done to food. This person says, we used to always bring a bunch of side dishes for Thanksgiving, but we had to keep my mother away from them because her attitude toward everything is crooked as long as possible. That's the reason I grew up hating vegetables because they were always boiled to mush. We would take control of the sides we brought, which offended my mom because we didn't trust her cooking and she was always trying to grab them and sneak them into the oven or the microwave. I remember one Thanksgiving we brought our special green beans and butter garlic and rosemary, but not cooked too much so they have a snap to them. They just needed about 30 to 60 seconds in the microwave. So we're putting everything on the table and I realized that the green beans are missing. My mom tells me she put them in the microwave. I say, how long ago? My mom says, oh, they still have several minutes to go. They've only been in their about 8 minutes. So these beautiful fresh green beans are cooked to a point that they're ruined. And then there was the Thanksgiving. I carefully packed up all the leftovers we were taking home. But they weren't in the fridge when it came time to take them. She had moved them to the top of the dryer in the mudroom, so we wouldn't forget them. They were sitting out there about 8 hours going bad. We took it all home and threw it out. What was it about those women that and it was women, at least in my case, because my father wasn't doing much cooking. That just felt there was something that del Monte or the green giant was doing that was harmful if they didn't cook it for like a couple of hours. You know, I think that if you watch that TV show, I'm pretty sure it's on the history channel. Maxfield correct me if I'm wrong. The foods that build America? Yeah, I think it is history channel. I learned you learn so much about you learned so much about like two whole generations of Americans because people like your grandparents and great grandparents. Or great great grandparents and some of our cases, you know, came up in the depression and they didn't have convenience foods. They didn't have any of those things. And then suddenly, you know, we've got post World War II and we've got like all of these things that are being invented and the invention of the grocery store the way we know it now and all of that. And all of these foods were out there, but people really didn't know like, is this can of green beans? Is it cooked? It says on the label, it's cooked and you just have to reheat it. But if you grew up like my mom grew up being taught by her mother that you bought some vegetables at the farm stand and you cook them for about a half a day. So when she dumped those beans into the pot, she just couldn't trust the label on the package. And forget frozen vegetables, those were I was told one time as a kid because I had seen some commercial on TV that looked that made it look really, really good. And I asked my mom why we never had bird's eye, frozen vegetables, and my mom said, we'll share those are for rich people. Bird's eye was? First I was rich people. Birds I was for rich people, yeah. You know, this was where we had don't mind. I developed codependency because I can remember driving specifically. I'm sitting in the back seat on my left is my mother on my right is my grandmother's Shea Shea. And they never really warmed up to one another. We're going to get a pizza. My father's driving my brothers in the front seat. And for some reason, my mother was talking about some corn, a fresh corn that she was going to boil. And she mentioned that you had to boil it for about 45 minutes. And my grandmother just quietly said, no, you just need to boil it for about 8 minutes. My mother went now. It's not enough. And they're not even looking at each other. It's not enough. It's about 45 minutes. And my grandmother plus is now it's about it's about 8 minutes and I jumped in and I just said, boy, I can't wait to get the pizza tonight to just change, I was coming between these two. About the length of time to cook corn. Holy cow. I should have said to the old man pulled over, I'm getting out. I just can't deal with this anymore. I'm pretty sure it's cooked in the can. The Four Biggest American Media Celebrities of the 1930s

"In the 1930s, the biggest American media celebrities were four foreign correspondents, Dorothy Thompson, John Gunther, HR knickerbocker, and Vincent Shea. They were household names in their day, and just as famous as their novel writing lost generation counterparts, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway. These reporters helped shape what Americans knew about the world between the two world wars by landing exclusive interviews with the most important political figures of their day, including Hitler, Mussolini and Franco, as well as Trotsky, Gandhi, nehru, Churchill and FDR. But they also went beyond state press releases and listened closely to the dissidents in Europe and heard alarming reports of violence against anyone who opposed these authoritarian regimes. The reporting made waves at home and abroad. HR knickerbocker was the only foreign reporter whose dispatches Mussolini bothered to read. Joseph gobel is called knickerbocker in international liar and counterfeiter. John Guthrie shot to fame, but the book inside Europe published in 1936, arguing that, quote, unresolved personal conflicts in the lives of various European politicians may contribute to the collapse of our civilization. In the face of increasing violence in Europe, these reporters had to decide whether they would remain on the sidelines or advocate for their readers to respond. They were the readers of the dictators wouldn't be satisfied with their territories they conquered, and the objected to the policies of appeasement and predicted the coming of the Second World War. Putting together the stories they covered, the Italian invasion of Ethiopia in 1935, the Spanish Civil War broke out the next year, the German annexation of Austria and the karma book Czechoslovakia, and made very accurate judgments about what would come next.

Svechnikov scores twice as Hurricanes beat Predators 5-3

"I'd raise venture capital over two goals and an assist as the hurricanes handed the predators their fourth straight regulation loss since the all star break for nothing it's been a tough games for us loves dancing and the it's important you know we gotta remember game special before blouse you know get the get that mentality noted in a game and the you know I moved again to the plow but I know it's it's going to be far still but you know that's what we're gonna do right now Brady Shea and Jacob Slavin each had a goal and an assist for Carolina which is to to into since the all star break the predators got back in the game by scoring twice with the net empty but so that's the kind of clinched it with an empty netter Frederick Anderson stopped twenty eight shots for the hurricanes who moved into a tie with Pittsburgh for the metropolitan division lead I'm Dave Ferrie

"Separated from some of these other teams. The only thing. I will say there's a russ acquisition. We could talk about this more when we get it. We should save this for the that. Part of the podcast. I'll open the question. I mean i think russ was more of a regular season edition than a playoff addition. So we we kind of leave that out on the table. But let's go to the bottom of the conference. Russell westbrook two teams that he's played for. I'm guessing are involved in this bottom five year. So what was your fifteen. And i guess. That's through eleven so missing the plan entirely headed to the lottery. This was tough Not the bottom two. But i- fifteen. I okay. kc fourteen. I houston thirteen. I went with the spurs and then twelve. I went T. wolves eleven. I went elegance. Okay so i have the same five teams. Although i had minnesota in the plan and i had a new san antonio in the in the thirteenth sacramento. Yeah so i. I had okay seat. Fifteen houston four. Cain sacramento thirteen san antonio twelve new orleans. Eleven so i mean. Let's just start off here. I mean. I think he's going to be worse than houston. Are you on board with as well. Yeah i am for sure. I think the talent for the rockets is far more superior than it is up the okay see at least four. Quote unquote the The crappy win now teams. I think the rockets have more or win now between the bottom crappy teams if that makes sense. Yeah no me. Too i mean. Are you concerned at all about a full year of shea. Gildas alexander healthy and what that could mean for. Okay see you know. They seem to be well coached at any chance that they surprise and kind of win more games than expected baby. Who's a second best player. You think of this on thunder. That's the biggest question for me. I'm not. I'm not sure to be honest and i don't know either. Obviously as like a significant drop off so the next player for for the o'casey thunder. Look i think the biggest question for. I think both of us is in for other. Nba people that analyzes. Where are they going to. Cash in on their other draft picks yep because they have so much draft capital at a point. Where if they don't get the number one. Pick this in the upcoming draft and start building because shea shea still young these years of not being competitive by the time they're able to compete he might be twenty six twenty seven years old. I mean selling his prime by again. You pay them a lot of money. God forbid he. He has a huge injury that puts out for the season. But i think it's gonna come to the point where we need to figure out okay. So he's second best player and where they're gonna cash on all a draft capital. I fifteen as well. So i agree with you. Okay okay sees win. Total at twenty three and a half right now rocket at twenty six and a half. So we're on board there. So i went sacramento san antonio new orleans in terms of worst to best. You had minnesota there. So what was your order. I had so. After that. I had the spurs at thirteen at the t. Wolves at twelve. And then pelicans at eleven. So i'm higher on the on the kings this coming season i guess. The new are on then minnesota..

"On the east coast. They're bringing back. The question. has anyone unbeknownst. You giving you any gifts packages people but notes to me. Don't give me gifts and doing the right mind. Is going to accept a gift. A package from someone in an airport of all places whose unbeknownst to them never been twenty four and some guys. I st- early. This this gift is for you thank you. That's very nice no memorial. Don't open it now for everyone to see. That is very nice of you know. I didn't get your name. Of course you didn't. That's because i'm unbeknownst to you. Tsa has a new slogan. If you see something say something right so if you see something out of the ordinary you're supposed to report it. So i went up to the girl at the ticket counter and i said my flight's leaving on top. Comedians burly check it out on our website b. o. b. s. h. e. r. dot com. The other day gave me an idea they have to go to the top drawer of my My bureau in my bedroom and get out that gag gift. I got for christmas couple of years ago. The old posing pouch start my own only fans chandola lissa golden them nar hells. Yeah i gotta tell ya as written about this one couple and they were knocking down three hundred thousand dollars a month. Allegedly and i'm thinking i get on some bikini underwear you know. Let the ladies talk. Who's better at given the ladies. What they want than me. Normally that is a car. Houses are vacation the caribbean but I'm used to the women telling me what to do. And i think i could work. I think when. I look at myself in the mirror right now after a shower. I think we're looking at seventeen dollars and fifty cents a month easy. Hey that's that's that's that's era. You're darn well. Almost almost lunch at premier. What has has only fans. I've never been on any only fans thing. Have they've what i was reading. Was there couples that are making or women that are making like one hundred. Seventy five thousand dollars a month and Only fan said we're gonna banned being adult content that i rented band they're not banning nudity. They're banning pornography because they're trying to clean the site up from exploitation trafficking and abuse. Because you know you can't have nice things we can't just have you know like we can't just have some naughty nece it has to descend into depravity bill phil so form is like y'all can not behave song turn this car around and we will allow nudity but that's where we're going to draw the line. So there's there's no if if you discount nudity as being Posing like as a model if you discount that. There's there's no sexual activity that's going to be allowed at. Evidently it is now. That's the that's the plan but you know these things are leak leaky boats. So i'm sure some stuff they'll get through They'll just softcore up lake cinemax after dark but yeah they're trying to. There are some like anywhere on the internet. there's some really agree just content and they are trying to clean it up before the site loses any respect ability that it has. It is amazing. How times have changed with just a you know two or three generations. I just don't see my grandmother shea shea getting involved in the only fans situation if if she did she would she would require everyone to call her missus George slicer which. I which i think would take some of the spin out of shays whole thing. There there are there was bound to be somebody in your childhood neighborhood that would have had an only fans There's there are people all around us. Have these accounts. There's so much like amateur. Diy adult content out there on the web. Somebody i'm knockin in. I know some of your childhood neighbor names. And i'm not going to name them for fear one of them is listening. And here's rousse. How about conney know who would be i would be. I think there are people. I think we all grew up with that one house in the neighborhood where anything was possible. That was mrs smith. Her real her real name was actually. Mrs smith I think if your name is miss might as well get up to something big pot is it makes check mix checking into hotels out of town much easier. Because you've got the id that was that was. Her name is the smith. Yeah and All of the. I was like seven years older younger all of the women. I didn't understand what was going on. But all of the women My mother Vard lane next door and other women in the neighborhood when they got together. They're always talking about her because she was the one where one of the local doctors would come by fairly often while mr smith was at work. And you know the jokes started. Oh she must really have a problem with that bronchial Deal you know and And she wore. She wore Bermuda shorts in the fall with those niece nia stockings. That not stocking socks in a that was a look like on the love boat. Wow it's hard is sexy zone in time. I think no bermuda shorts with like schoolgirl socks catholic. Schoolgirl sucks right. That's gopher on. The love boat wore shorts and knee socks. Yeah it's the further. It's like the most unsexy thing i can imagine but i'm trying here with mrs smith over. A guy may be but for a woman. Yeah for a woman definitely. The women in my family talked so much. Unbelievable smack about jenny next door that i was in high school before i realized her last name wasn't actually next door that she had a completely different name. It sounds it. Sounds like the title of iraq song from some guy in canada. Go ahead at wha- what they didn't think that poor woman was getting up to if ginny next door had any idea what her legend was. She probably be thrilled. Nobody was living a life is interesting is they thought she was living but today. Yeah jenny janine next door be a great name for an only fans wouldn't it it would be. It's in pre cooked chicken nuggets in the air fryer every night bra. There ain't no contaminating pasta okay but That's actually one of the funniest. There's like a template that a lot of elementary schools and preschools us where for mother's day you fill out the kids fill out these things and it's like i love my mom the best because she and people say like plays whatever with me and did that and a few of the moms in our friend circle all posted and it said like my mom is the best when she cooks me and like three different moms had toast as the answer so like shea shea in a few other kids all said. My mom cooks me toast. It's like oh great there's track. We're the child neglect parents over here. Anyway give me credit. Because i do in the moment say to myself like fuck that the meat that that knife is like serrated or whatever whatever is gonna use it again but i do think of how good how are you from the sink. Giants' Scouting Director Michael Holmes Comments on MLB Draft

"I'm john shea national baseball writer of the san francisco chronicle and it's a perfect time to welcome the giant scouting director michael holmes to break down the players. He selected in the three years. He ran the giants drafts. Who's looking good. What's up with the top guys taken in this year's draft. And how does the giants versatility at the big league level. Translate undrafted so michael scouting director of the giants after a long time. Stints with the oakland as you've been with farhan zaidi. The past three years leading the drafts. And there've been some intriguing draft draft. So far i mean you had the full forty in two thousand nineteen and then because a code you only had five picks in the twenty twenty draft and then this year twenty six and the draft was wrecked during the all star break held in denver so every year is a little bit different for you in a wondering. How how you adjust from year to year and Because the game has changed and everyone has to change with the game. But how how did that. Make your job different. Well i think this year was an insecure navigate just because One coup the challenge of cova players over the last calendar year. Not having played as much Not as many reps at bats innings on the mound Us not maybe being able to build some of the history. We've we've been able to in the past with some of the players But i i thought it was a whole art. Staff overcame those obstacles. You know really well and we were able to able to get a lot of looks on on the players that we had interest in. I also think it a challenge of the draft being pushed back from date standpoint You know having the introduction of mlb combine was a new a new twist to the draft. Which i thought went really well. And they'll be a really nice job putting that on putting together Thought we got a lot of benefits from being there intending

"Is. That's a that's just side by most people ain't got problems that's autumn that's Say right there so wait you said you were pregnant otani. Her right manage time will win like i. I knew not. I saw my way. Give light man. Women are super zoom. Ran like that should really is. You don't really know until you situation but the childbearing thing in in just you know. Isn't that mental toughness though. I think that's the thing that drives us for the moms that return. I think about Allyson felix serena williams. You know were you just. It is what we've done so much of our more of our whole life. We've been playing our sport in at the top of your sport is really hard to stop in. Think like you're done because you're pregnant is like oh yeah. No other women have gone through this. I'm not the first mom like let's figure this out. We don't have this baby and nursing nursing under locker room you you know you've got a really is the thing that we go through so much in our bodies went through so much but the leverett a gaming Figure find a way to get back out there. We just we just got up to the dunkin. Kobe go to the hall of fame. How was your holiday fame experience when you got the call. You when the spurs were you flew. May i i was there so it was great to see Kobe Going into the whole thing as well k. g. was outstanding. Tim duncan and all all those men and women bigly cheese. Who else was in there. There was a the coach can. Mochi catch was amazing so anyway was so great. I'm so happy to be a part of that whole family of hall of famers. In to be really honest. I never even knew anything about the hall of fame. It was never anything on my radar at all When i retire. They're like you know it takes five years. In five years you get to be inducted. Bid on all the awards adding really get it Until you really go there and you see like hang out like this. It was major. And i was really thankful you know probably hardest things. What are you wearing but each school. You know i. I just said a speech that it was titled. I didn't get here. I didn't get your by myself. Is you know how to get along. It was just so many people my mom my sister gosh. My husband is the whole process. All my teammates. I've had some amazing teams. That has an amazing coaches and so to be inducted into the holiday. I know it's an individual reward but it really is. You can't get there without all the amazing people who support you. So i really give homage to everybody coaches in all other hall of famers said When they get in they really realize is kinda hit. Them is like they rewind from the first time. They grabbed the ball from our coaches teammates. All the way back to this point with it like kind parents for you like you. Just just go back to banda early days. All the way to so now the ups and downs. Yes i think. The biggest thing i think about is a my homegirl. Shea shaves her name. Says we play ball. I went to junior high compton and My first time going actually. I wasn't even abolish so listen. I played double dutch every day. And i was in drill team so i was like shaking dancing in the streets and jumping double that seven seven grade. I go and i'm like six. This is ridiculous because my daughter is six months she thirteen. I was six foot at twelve. So i go into middle school. Yeah was up. They're always going to middle school. An ear shea. You everybody calling shane. I'm like tangles shea. Like evaded hurt me like shea shea on the basketball team i'm like okay. Dad moment for me. Although god was pay attention. What but i'm like. Dan ought to be like saying like everybody basketball. No saying the guys the man. I was like man i wanna be. I wanna be that right. But between that in e saying i want to be the go to person. I want people to ball when the basket i seek its planet but it's just. It was shade for me so shared houses day and shay was such a nice girl like she was she was a baller like she was but she was kinda played. Like Do you think about. She was kind of like a person who you think. Kind of like a a strong carmelo. Anthony like like in the way she got buckets from everywhere. Six blocks your rebound. Yeah girl sears. Amazing but just seeing her was like i want to. I want people to know my name. I won't be able to be like who is that. There is like funny like that man. zoom you. This is the one of sophie's back as it is imagine. That's the big three coach of the year shelf. Like tell me how that experience. Because i as you know we played against doc. I played in the league and co's lieberman nasty while loved. Death was my coach. Seems the i wanna do you. Coaching men and women. No we'd love caused the minute. I was extremely proud to be part of that team. Is she coast in the help her be when a championship and of the house. Your experience coaching joan. All of those guys are already know kind of what you say. But it was great. It was great. The experience was great. You know again. I learned a lot Because i had never really been a coach right. I mean like i'm just trying to think i hadn't really coached before maybe a little bit a few times here and there but nothing like this right but i realize it few things as a coach have to be a good listener. You know you can't come in like your dictator but you also have to be competent. Which is very important. I'm a student of the game. I love the game. I understand game. I see the game. I see things before it happens. You know the same way in the hooper does a so for me. It was like what. Can i do to help my team win and is really just about bringing that edge right the edge of every player that we're about the face i'm going to watch and scout of digger with they like to do and getting my players that edge and then the other thing was about our plays execution of what we're doing and so it was a lot of fun i love every minute of it. I think i challenged you know my is to really step up in to be available. Be ready be ready for change. And i challenged them and i think i challenged him in a way where they were kind of like. You know filling the out a little bit. I but leadership was important. I think i heard their respect Joe obviously has the leader in a captain the gm of the team. I had jim rats which was great. My guys loving. Jim and you know like i told him. Don't don't have do it if you will do right. Let's not do it at all. Don't put my name on it. Because if i could play i would play. You know what i'm saying like that's just how passionate i am about it and i'm gonna approach it the way that i would as a player i'm gonna give you my all so my all is somehow i coach my scouting. My you know just that little edge that you need to be better in common place. So i think the biggest place that we had Some friction one was losing when we lost to your team. I didn't know because i was out. I lost in our only loss but when we loss at didn't realize as a coach like losing feels like you played. You know what i mean. I was just a whole week. My family was like i'm hot like last. Jbc now and i didn't know that so And i didn't like that but it was cool. Low key a little disrespect for you know in the win. So that was about that. You know like okay. They didn't even get our hands. I that was real real real reuss. I'm like okay. We need to see that scene again. That's for sure. But at the same time i i loved it i love the fans. I love the process. I loved all the competition. I love the games. man. I wasn't i was so into it. That's how i became a coach. Actually i sat next to cuban came to watch you guys like the year before he came to my indian and i was there i was over there. Coaching men take a roll cut to the basket. Acute was leg looking right. Like that's not how you can do that. You know so. I was just talking to us because i like the fact that we have jobs and talk about basketball and get paid is ridiculous. It'd be doing anyway so it was kind of like it was sweet. It was a poetic for us to win a championship again. Ansi who loves you know..

Indianapolis Colts' T.Y. Hilton to Miss Start of Season

"T Y. Hilton expected to miss the start of the regular season after re aggravating a neck injury. At practice last week earlier on ESPN radio are Courtney Cronin in Shape Peppler. The Colts need to let go stage their locker room like they need to take a page out of the Baltimore Orioles and what they did there in breaking a 19 game losing streak because it just feels like injury after injury for them Now, next on the list is T Y Hilton, who's got a back problem. They don't know the diagnosis with That, But I know Courtney, you've got some more insight as to what the deal is with T Y Hilton in Indianapolis. Yeah, Apparently he was injured in practice on Wednesday. This didn't come from the preseason game that they just played on Friday. That happened early, and then he came back out and he was able to finish practice. But now we find out Shea that he has a back and a neck injury and he's out indefinitely and that comes on the heels. And, like 24 hours, they find out that and then Sam Ehlinger, the backup quarterback as a knee injuries out for 4 to 6 weeks. I think that this Indianapolis team for all the steps forward that they were able to take in the last few weeks, getting Carson Wentz back at practice, the good at least, you know, positive news that they got with Quentin Nelson, who had the same foot injury that Carson once has. That it's not going to be the end of his season, either, And then they're dealt this blow the big one here, though, as I look at all of these injuries and trying to figure out which is the worst one is probably Ehlinger because you don't know when Carson once is really going to be ready to play. Is it going to be weak? One? They haven't put that timetable on him. Yet. That is still two weeks away. Your backup quarterback right now is Jacob Eason like it was supposed to be Ehlinger. But now he's out 4 to 6 weeks. That's something that I don't think is a should give them any confidence. That's a Big below Hilton, Like many

So that's what i mean. So here's the ninja. Turtles were never about big explosions. No a strike. You want explosion michael. Gi joe he will give us the gi joe movie of our dreams. He was going to transform. Because transformers was a lot of blow. You know hardening soundtrack lots of explosions bam. The turtles were about the camaraderie. And the where. They all had to work together to solve the problems of their city while still doing it undetected and trying to not be deemed vigilantes. I mean these guys were saving the city. And they still live in the sewer. It wasn't like the mayor was out the red carpet. Right you see that. did you see that. Did you see that crossover. They did what batman go russia. "All donald never worked with him again. But no several times though. Yeah yeah absolutely. I want to go back to when altmann saw you. Did he see you at american conservatory. Theatre in san francisco's doing a play by jules pfeiffer called little murders oh shades of elliott gould. The shea shea go and i all i knew was that the director was coming up to see a wonderful actress. michael did who went on to play shara walton. And eddie how we were playing opposite each other and they'd come up to see her for the part of lieutenant dish. The part of the joanne fluke eventually Took over with and afterwards we all went to the local bar and and got to know each other and he was. He was very easy to talk. And i went home. You know wishing michael every success. I hope that she got the part. Well she didn't get in the movie. But i about a week later i received a call asking me to look at the part of of Oh he oh scherz. Parts scares yeah. Yeah they had a They'd offered to a guy by the name of burt reynolds contract player at fox. Who turned it down. Oh and so the part was open. I read it. I didn't think i was right for it. I which i told him and he said well thank you very much. And then he called back Forty eight hours after that and said how about panelists. Would you like to do painless. And i said who's at is that well. He's the guy in the army with the biggest long another gilbert gottfried connection right. I know what it anyway make something long very short that would be mind delusion of glandular. I took the part very good. Very good were you. You were underwhelmed by the script. I heard you say i was well. He he had first movie script. You've ever read it. Was i kept falling asleep. Actually wow but that was the end of a season and we were doing like ten plays at the same time. So you'll forgive my fatigue but it was very episodic and In each episode finished and then the next one would start in each episode and the initial assemblage of the film wanted what had been shot was as ring had written it and it was a real sleeper and nobody was happy and that's when altmann genius went to work and he did a couple of things He chopped up sequence completely for example at the end of when i have been revived by. Joanne flew as a shot of her going away in the helicopter. Yeah that beautiful smile. Yeah while that's because she was leaving and that's what allowed hot lips to come in to replace her. But you would never know that in the movie you think. They're there at the same time type of magic that that he did. And then what was really brilliant was he acted the added. The character of the loudspeaker. Oh wanted a device used for years in the series yes exactly yeah and so that That's how that all got put together. And the difference was magical. They previewed it up in san francisco. And i flew up there and got to the theater and movie called. Butch sundance a butch cassidy and the sundance kid was just wrapping up before hours and the audience went crazy about that then. Rightfully so so. Our little picture begins all the fox suits are there you know sitting behind me and i little nothing the first five minutes. There's no reaction. And i forget what the exact moment was. Maybe when they steal the cheap that all of a sudden jazz subtle shift in energy and that grew and grew until we got the first operating scene. And that's this vein that's been broken. Blood spurting out all over the place. And i thought the woman in front of me. We're going to throw up shit And then so the real we had the realism of the first operating scene. And then the whole place took off this energy just built and built and built and while the end of the picture they stood up and cheered for ten minutes and never seen anything like it and all the suits are looking at each other like. Hey we got some pretty good here and your first movie. Right out of the boxer. I remember and mash elliott gould. I think-i punches. Robert duvall us. Yes he he goes to. After after donald donald goads him at breakfast into Right right what what i remember about. It is the first time like in movies. You know people throw punches and every but it's the first time it showed like throwing a punch can be really paint. It was a good one. And he's like no yeah. He's in great pain after punches. Yeah clocks on the top of the head and after he humiliates court he makes bud court right feel that he was responsible for the death. Yes yeah it's it's terrific really different kind of part for duval to yes. He's never done another one quite like that. No and he Unfortunately i think he was done in two weeks. Maybe even less They did that sequence. I but Wonderful fellow in. Turn join my my time with them. Yeah well shout out one other podcast guests that we've had on this show. Who was in that movie with you. And that's karl gottlieb. Yes yes also notice. Iron balls mcginty have got lee has this passion for mustangs. The ford kind. Lisa did then yes. Every time i saw him in the over twenty year period he had a new ford mustang convertible usually. He's a fascinating guy. Did you did you read Marquesses terrific book about mike nicholls. John no i did not should it. It's it's a great read but notable is that nichols who was obviously making catch. Twenty two around the same time went to see mash and became depressed because he realized this was the movie he should have made. Yes well he's right. Yeah we we call attack catch zero. We never that. That joseph heller book was so fantastic great book and then you books. It's stupid it's just. It's hard to make a bad movie as it is to make a good movie. But what a cast and nationalist one of those movies of like one of the first times people are talking over each other. Yes that was the beginning of that overlapping dialogue. Which at that. Time was the bane every audio person. You know little separation all the close up to you. Were not allowed to overlap. That was a cardinal sin of movie making and that technique was then used in brewster mccloud. And.
