"Other very minor trade deadline day deals from today. You guys all run through. Stop me if you've You've got something to say about them. The magic acquired James Ennis from the sixers for a second round. Pick the nuggets acquired choir Jordan mccray from the Grizzlies for Shabazz Napier. The rockets acquired Bruno Komo glow from the Grizzlies Jordan Bell. The hawks acquired Derek Wilton junior from the clippers for cash. Does he already waived. Oh they got their initial report. was that the hawks. Were sending back cash to the clippers clippers but then it was corrected cash was come in with Derrick Walton Junior. They not only do the hawks get a player who I believe. They're waving but they got some. Okay how's it was just a cash trade exchanging exchanging dollars and then the hawks also acquired scalp and two million dollars cash. I think from the Blazers for a future heavily protected second round pick I think its top fifty five protected. We descended a few times so we say one thing on scowl shirt in some limited portland. I thought he was actually decent. I thought he's athletic. He's good at both ends ends of the floor. It means he's not going to change a franchise around but I think he's he's a play. It was still some potential there. How many centers the Hawks and they've got dwayne deadman Now and obviously starting five of senators right now cadman Bruno Fernando scale and Damian Jones. I can't wait for the rockets and the Hawks looks to match up against the Senate's it's the skills challenge versus

"Was I'm the conduit, George you said it during the break, we're told this this max of LeBron I can redeem him and then few weeks later like you got to get this guy out of here. He's he's done that before that move of. Yeah. Give to me, and I'll make it work. And then Shabazz Napier was his favorite player. Best point guard in the draft best point ship. Shabazz shabazz. Napier has seven games a year. We go damn, but. Yeah, Shabazz Napier. Right. Basically. That's that is the deal. I so what do we got next? Let's get back to the Super Bowl. What are the Rams missing? That's kind of the conversation. Now as we kind of move past it, right? Like, what are the pieces that they're missing? So people are throwing out there. To redo the offense line, you may need to look and get a running back because you can't trust girlies health this that and the other that's one of the conversations they're having. So when you look at this Rams team and look at changes a lot year to year in the NFL. What are what is it glaring weakness in your opinion? So they need to upgrade to the biggest positional things. They gotta fix Blyth and Sullivan is done ofensive line. John Sullivan is that a great career? He is cooked and has been awful since the middle of the year. And just when you have that much penetration in the middle of your your offense of line of work. Blyth wasn't very good. And if if Whitworth retires, which is at least possible, right? You can't run that offense without a good offensive line. Whitworth was transformative in going from the Jeff Fisher to the first year of Sean McVeigh. That's where I would start and then Kupa Kupa cutback. Still one thing is healthy. Like what that like in a in a in a hypothetical universe? I'd love to see a rematch of that Super Bowl. With healthy Rams team out there what healthy Cooper Cup with healthy Todd Gurley. Do we get the same even without the benefit of having been there before if we somehow could rewind and just healthy players in there. We get the same performance from Jared Goff to get the same perform, he's more comfortable. Yeah. He's more comfortable that takes those guys take the onus off of him and the pressure off of a lot of ways. So I do believe that that certainly would have alleviated some of the issues. Sure. Yeah. Next. We've talked a lot about the Lakers, and we just do that Casey P thing. So one of the things that's out there right now is the Lakers have this make this deal. Right. And it's who's Ma Lonzo Ingram Rondo land Stevens, Michael Beasley, and all these picks who the hell's gonna play for them. I one name that's popped up car. Carmelo Anthony at that point you guys. Poor man's millage avoid partner where you have the actual thing. Baby. You go on with it. So do you think are if this trait happens by Thursday mean camello Anthony Laker that 'cause you need bodies at that bright you need bodies? And then by the way, interesting conversation you start to have with does Wesley Matthews. Get bought out in New York. I think he gets bought out Ramona doesn't think the Andre it's bought out because who's the de'andre boy was his boy. Kevin Durant thinking hang around for another year, bird rights, and all that. Okay. Well, the non bird rights, but he's getting making enough money where you work work. It's about what he's going to be making. I can see the pieces come together to if they're boys in Katie says figured out. Some guy gets his stick around for a couple years. They'll they'll do that for they can do that. It's interesting though, because his cap hold will kind of eat into some of that face that seventy million or whatever they go. Yeah. You know, I I don't know. I don't I don't know that the under Jordan is a keeper for the Knicks, particularly I think if you're him and you see Houston having that big hole at center, and that's a team that basically the finals for your services between them in Dallas. Why wouldn't he, you know, take a little haircut here to go? Get the extra money back over there, by the way. No, this isn't sexy radio talk state income tax in New York state income tax in Texas. Yeah. Man, I send me back to Houston. Yeah. Sure..

Kick it in the sideline of Millstream three to the Patty mills better three point shooters at forty percent. This year. Bills. And then they'll go to the three guys off the bench. Most the top twelve three four shooting down the lane Harris for the curl, leaner. And it's good for Joe Harris. He's got twelve again. Chopper Hollis Jefferson now between the circles today. Napier over on the left working around the Jalan head back for the Harris. Threw it is short. No, good rebound about a Spurs. The Rosencrantz Spurs of turn it up defensively. The right to Rosen got strip to the foul. Ronda, how does Jefferson is his first free throws coming up for tomorrow to Rosen? His first free throw attempts to the game. The guy who is always made his living at the free throw line makes the first. Rosen averaged twenty three game last year, which is a Lebanon leaguers a second team all MBA player then traded going into the final year of his contract with Kawhi Leonard. Wanting out the Spurs found a trade partner in San Antonio. Toronto. Rosa makes the second free. Throw. I go up by two with five minutes to go in the third again. That's in need some offensive energy right now Napier's always been a spark as of late any provide some. Yes. Out high back today. Nature coming pushed off three missed a short. We've added by Bertone's Reseda Antonio gonna have to make your threes. That's haven't been converting the high enough level. Forbes has it out high on the right? Here's electron Aldridge screen back right to the elbow with a pull up. It's no good and Hollis Jefferson contested rebound loser. To the court Weeden through defenders flies Allen and a quarter for three and it's good for Jared. Allen for right for the bay today. I to their feet excited about Jared Allen connecting on a three that's Allen v made three in the lane. Aldridge on the other end, Mr. right hook got fouled by Jared. Allen. Now five thirty two on the season. He has made play. He's been the guy that's gotten everybody off defense tonight. He's either mates, and it hasn't been these unbelievable frozen slams. It's been some patient moves on catches some quality plays in the three right there. Halland is six of seven from the floor fourteen points as the free throws did by Aldrich. It is the eleventh made three quarter of his career is five fifteen last year. Now five for thirty two this season. He's going to get arrested his Davis in the beginning. Really enjoying Jared L? Does he goes to the benches team as high five hundred celebrating that three point? Aldridge at the line makes the second birds go up seventy four seventy three with four fourteen to go third quarter. Napier across the chord line here at San Antonio the dark gray going right to left. They give it a Davis behind the arc straight on picks up the dribble. Baker got hit in the face by Belen Elliott. A foul is called Bella Bella. They are really overplaying everything around the floor right now. Napier took a shot. Bellen fourth foul and ten minutes. You can tell pop got after him about not defending against the Phoenix Suns air defenses with our effort levels, very high. Shabazz Napier is going to go to the line. The nets attempted this free throws in the game. The only made five of them. Throw away by Shabazz is good. Purnell is gonna come into the game with our that cut. And we haven't seen him come back. No. He's back. You're getting hurdle in the game. For the first time. The now called a shawl here. All the mills to Rosen. Nager at the line free. Throw is good. That's at Napier Harris, hollers Jefferson, Carol Anne, Davis, seventy five seventy four Brooklyn four minutes to go third quarter. The Rosen top of the keys. Moves it out on the left side. Burton drive it right. Cut off the foul is back door. It goes to the corner and the three four against his own time moved at quicken and inside out got the defensive collapse. Four disheartening that soon to three point line Burs acted fraud. Carol. Left. Open shoots the three short. No, good the rebound. Who's in the three point contests here in the third quarter? Chris forge coming right? Top of the key. Jumper is. No, good rebound by Joe Harris, scripted ahead. NATO up the left side of the floor. Shabazz drive or the bass slot. Cut off by Pertile back it on the wing right side, Carol three, and he makes that one and he got fouled. It'll be a four point play opportunity for tomorrow. Carol. Great job by Carol that time boy did one of those last game. Also put up four point play. Excellent job by nape. You're combing where appropriate along the base line and hook and pass out with his left hand. Again, I think Carol might have done one of those Toy Story falls through choice. Good. Makes the four point seventy nine seventy seven three thirteen to go in the third Rosen. In the corner. Mills down the lane closure at experience. On the baseline for Patty mills at seventy nine with three minutes to go in the third. Alpi in the left. It's Napier's curls right steps a seventeen footer. It's good for Shabazz. Napier. Boy, we need some offense. You're desperate that guys as fears. Nothing. Just a second goal nine cents to Rosen. Right. Colder Bertone's pump fake pass out top mills for three of that. It's good for Patty mills. I take elite eighty to eighty one with two and a half to go third quarter with the three point shot. They're knocking them down this quarter. Now, Hollis Jefferson underlining rendezvous cuts right clumps in the lane with a shot that fall bounds out to the right goes out of play. It'll remain netball. Russell coming back in replacing Harrison, college Jefferson Janka Pearl going at it right now. They have to be separated as their jawing at each other. Eric Lewis the efficient steps. All right now, the Spurs six for ten from three point land in this quarter. Ten of twenty four in the game. Russell runs into four to out. Now, he went into the shooting mostly despite being about thirty two feet away from the basket, they're not gonna give shooting shots. But because they're over the limit is gonna get free throw. He'll get two free throws rather than three. Replayed. Like Russell makes the free throw. Stirs had made fifteen or more threes consecutive games for the first time the franchise history, they've made more four straight. That's the second longest franchise issue. They've made ten tonight is Russell MRs that free throw. Gametime at eighty two to eleven to go with the third Rosen. Stand underneath back it out forge corner. Long to no good rebound about Hollis Jefferson. Mark of the third quarter game tied at eighty two. Russell less shy three. It's good for tomorrow. Carol. Carol hitting a three his third of the game that great minutes by coming in here in the third top jumper by mills in and out. No, good, Hollis Jefferson for the rebound. The mid forty to go with a third. That's the ball ups. Three. Russell. Out of the right wing trying to find a shot for Carol Carol got it working right to the rim. Runs into a wall of stirs. Missed the shot got his own miss at a foul against the scourge. The foul against Fords. Third foul on Brin Forbes could put tomorrow Carol at the free throw line. That's just nine to fifteen from mind. We throw by the marae. No. Yeah. You're talking about Chris becoming a storyline right now. Their inability to convert from the line. And yet great minutes of again, how many times you said that this year? Demari Carol coming in providing us boost. "We haven't seen Moussa much, but Kubrick's is looking better. And he was the second round pick new category for this year since we're doing this this show now in two parts every month, not executive of the here, and my number one nominee here is Gerald Maury with one arm time behind his back by Tilghman for today's cheapness. So that that combination? I mean, a gun with the rockets being such disappointment pretty much all the moves that they've made so far have not really worked very well. They did do well to get clink cappella on that contract for cheaper than we thought he was going to go. He'll Chris Paul. They at least didn't give him the five year deal. They had to give him the max for four years any as a player option, but the mellow deal whoever whether that was Chris Paul and hardened pushing that whether void thought he would work out or not that was obviously a disaster that cost themselves a bunch of gains by playing him early. He's now not even on the team anymore. But of course, still has to be taking up Rosser slot because no far be it for Tillman for today. Just pay the guy and try to win games. With the roster spots at the desperately need. Instead of just waiting now until he can be traded at the summer fifteen or until he gets waved and maybe picked up by someone or whatever Michael Carter Williams, those deciding we thought was absolutely terrible to begin with. They were clearly counting on them. They needed to do something more at backup point guard. And yeah, they wanted someone who could be in their switching system, but you know, Shabazz Napier Shabazz Napier Shabazz, a, Hugh it shouldn't folks me as much as Shabazz Muhammad is now out of the league. But you know, he went to Brooklyn for the minimum. Basically, I'm guessing that if they wanted to give him a guarantee contract just someone to like give them an NBA player at that position. You know, so to be relying on him, then they've had a love youth missed one other important move while maybe I was going to get the right? Yeah. Yeah. The the Ryan Anderson. Yeah. I mean, that's another. Okay. Another solid and be player that. Yeah. You know, they save some money for next year. Basically, they they brought in Markey's Chris he clearly was out of shape and injured and he. He just has not been contributing. They just have so many completely dead roster spots on the team or not. And maybe you'll be able to salvage it may be will be able to salvage it. You know, they obviously made the decision not bring back a result an involved Mugabe as well. So they have really struggled at an. Yeah. Harden and Paul not playing his wall has been part of that. But the bigger part of it. I think has just been that slots like eight through fifteen in the roster of basically provided zero production whatsoever. Did you do well with James Ennis? I mean, I think he's had a solid your overall getting getting him for the minimum with a player option for the second year. Yeah, I'm happy with that. But the rockets so they made the they did it the big long-term moves. I think they got those pretty close rhyming Capella at about seventeen seventeen and a half million a year. Even if he's not as good as he was last year that's still a reasonable contract to be sure not having to give Chris polythene. We're really helps. But Houston's window was the president. Always. We everybody knew that. I mean because Chris Paul he we didn't know how long he was going to be healthy. And all that. And yes, Mauri had a hand tied. His dak. It is an important part of the story to tell. But in terms of maximizing present value, even given those constraints. This didn't work out. Really? Well, I mean losing Ryan Anderson and not getting back anybody who could even be a regular season player burning all these roster spots in they might be able to deal with some of it through buyout guys. I think Houston isn't incredibly desirable by out destination. But I wanted to take some time to talk about some of the other general managers these executives they could be considered. So I'm not putting these in any order..

I have LeBron's Hollywood Lakers winning forty seven games and finishing seventh in a loaded west, especially loaded at the bottom. And I'm gonna say this one more time. It is mind boggling to me how the Portland Trail Blazers finished third in the west last year and now are picked by most people to finish out playoffs. But tenth eleventh from third, plummeting, and they law Shabazz Napier, and they added Seth curry, not Steph curry, but Seth curry. Okay. He's not bad. And this happened and I gotta think Portland tonight is like watch this man. I think it home on Thursday night, national TV. There are three point favorite. I think they're going to do a number on LeBron company's losses. Last five there in LeBron's debuts and Miami, and in his return to Cleveland, he had eight turnovers and both those games. They lost it Boston. They lost at home to the Knicks when he went back to Cleveland the second time. So I just I don't like this matchup tonight for this young and old team LeBron goes, show you remember. Okay. Okay. I know he's gonna show me because I am with Chris on this. He will win the MVP and he will lead this league in scoring and I will not be surprised if he gets. I do thirty two again. That's what I think you'll ever. Shot that's going to take, what did I tell yesterday? He's gonna, have the greenest lights this side of Christmas, it's going to be all Christmas lights all year long. Maurienne green one. Seriously because the pieces don't fit to me. They have four point guards in the best point guard on the team. Is that guy? He's still the best. There's no, he's the best passer in basketball. I mean, he threw some passes in the preseason shanty Schroeder, Schroeder right? right. He's like, he's the best. He needs the ball. I get what you're saying. I know the your heart says, Owen this team. I need to post up more whatever you in play off the ball. I get that. But when push comes to shove, it's just going to have the basketball. 'cause he's the only guy that can have the ball on the Lakers roster that you must get the ball out of his hand. They're not trying to get the ball out of Rondo and they're not trying to get the ball out of Lonzo van. They're trying to get the ball out of LeBron hand, and now he can kick. But what's he going to kick it to? That's not cover? That's not JR. That's not a Mike told you the hardest coaching job. I've ever seen going into a season as what Luke Walton faces because I don't know how the pieces fit and he's gonna have to mix and match and find some way to finish games and when it's time to finish games, I know what coach James is going to tell him. He's going to say, I want Lance in there. I want Beasley in there. I want. I want the guys who've been there and done this. I went javale all. Want the vets in they're going to have to run to go. Yeah. And you know what I've already told him. I was more bullish through the preseason. You're this is going to be the most fun team to watch in basketball because they're going to push like crazy now, will they play much defense? I'm not sure. I agree. Brandon can play it if he wants to Josh heart compla- defense. If he locks in one soon by the way, LeBron's going to love Josh heart. He'll be there, glued guy, he'll play a lot. Put it like this. You say they got young guys, you say they got kids and they got cast on will hairs. What LeBron Chicago loop won't as you call them guy. Because if you can put all these pieces together and big at work because you know macgyver be stranded somewhere..

"Okay. The boys are, I think, at Davis was a huge loss. I think Shabazz Napier was a important loss. I think panic, Pat contin is going to end up looking like a battle because I think he's going to do well in Milwaukee players. They added Steph, curry, have to hope he's healthy because they're gonna need help from him to do all this year. Nick style skips scratching my head on that one. But hey, the boat, this coaching staff has taken players kind of on the edge of the NBA per free and kind of turn them into something if Simmons, as I thought a great draft pick where they were drafting me watching him live at summer league, I was creditably impressed with how NBA ready he is. He really knows. We've do already. And must have been wonderful. The dwell of it academy or whoever he was working with did well, because he looked like an NBA player from the first minutes us all out on the core, Gary Chan, junior solid addition there, but I'm not sure me really makes it this year. I'm not sure how much scientists slides this year, but I think people might be surprised that he plays more than a guy that basically was not even one and done, you know. So I have fifteen players on the roster now. And so just the two roster spots, they don't have the either of those filled yet last season. Forty, nine, thirty three. Third seed. The Western Conference players since swept in around one versus the pelicans, very ugly ending to what was during the regular season deemed quite successful. The matchup could not have been worse for them really of all the teams that landed four, three, eight drawing the pelicans was unlucky. But something we always talk about here is is make use of the feedback loops. That was a feedback loop that was should be a mess of feedback. Loop that up at four-game sweep hidden to the pelicans in, but they've largely run the same roster back with less talented guys in some of the role player spots. So I and we'll get into, they were sixteenth office of rating. We think about having a team that's supposed to have one of the most on a course in league finished, sixteenth on offense. Something's not right defensively. They got up to eight. So they made a lot of progress on defense last year we'll talk about whether that's sustainable and beyond the regular season net rating. Eleventh. Again, if it's a rating improved from twenty first two years ago to eight last year after struggling with should man the rotation spots at the four and five positions for a number of seasons. They kind of melted last year the regular season with Nurkic. I mean, you and Davis was sometime from that Collins to quite well considering how young he is Ben was exposed in the playoffs is the guy that you're not going to be able to use at a playoff matchup that we kinda talked about. Brick lope has been that guy. Why? Okay. He's on a one year contract at basically if I recall it veteran minimum, not much more than that, you just paid to talk about that. So interesting thing that I think a guys that can help you in the regular season in the postseason that contractor look a little bit more like brick Lopez now nurtures lot younger. We had. That's a huge part of that evaluation there, but they give. Nervous four year contract last year team option. I believe I don't think there's a partial guarantee. Ethic is full team guarantee are nuts on team options. All right, but the details are still kind of slowly be communicated, and reportedly that Davis came to the blazers and said, if you offer me the room exception, the way the nets did, I'll come back in the blazers said, no, thanks. I don't understand that at all. So we'll stop there quick, not many changes to the roster, but I think the losses in the downgrades and some role spots are noteworthy. So Dane out kicked us when I see your thoughts about my thoughts on the just how their off-season went..

"A lot of holes in the immediate future like shooter rather than holding onto a drastic and twenty twenty two that you know may not really make much of a difference to them in terms of drafting in the twenties or the twenty five range or whatever it might be. Yeah, it's a trade that I, I'm not like particularly thrilled about it if I'm either team, but I could be satisfied with it. If I'm either if either from either perspective and boy, I, you know, this is I can't wait to see how how the hawks are next year. And I don't mean that like they're going to be terrible and lose a lot of games. I can't wait to see how trae young is. Because I've, I've said this before, say what you want about Travis. Lincoln that trade. I'm not gonna. Pretend like from what little I've seen of both. I would have taken probably number one in the draft amid thrilled about it, but I don't know much about these guys relative NBA players, but you gotta say this, that trade took enormous balls because you are a first time GM and the safest thing to do is just take Dutch. He falls to three. He's the the smart NBA fans favorite player. He's the most. Well, he's in a lot of ways more well known than trae young. Certainly people are more excited about him. Nobody thinks he's going to be a bust, which some people think trae young, right? Be the safest thing you will never get fired for taking Luca dodge number three ever. You will get fired for trading down to five and taking trae young of trae young as good and dodges. Awesome. You will get fired. It's just a matter of win if it may not even matter if you nail some other stuff that will get you fired and it will mar the rest of your career and that is a ballsy balls move. The one thing I wouldn't. By the way, the Lynn one I would've just done like forget just do the Denver trade that the nets did like take take Denver's guys in your cap space. Take Denver's first round, pick top twelve protector whatever it was just like signed Shabazz Napier as a placeholder for the minimum or Shane Larkin just name point guard who's available at the minimum. And like just like all Germans gonna do accidentally. When you another game or two next year maybe you want. I can see the argument for you can't view the world in those icy cold terms like these young guys need a competent point guard, but maybe more like maybe the competency gap between Jeremy Lin and Shabazz Napier is like meaningful. In that sense of setting up John Collins and helping all those guys develop. I just would rather have the Denver first round pick. That's that's my main quibble with the hawks other than being wildly interested in how trae young turns out of oil boy because that that that that is not the safe pick? Well, if we're talking about trae young, I I like all objectively to be able to discuss him in a reasonable because I'm already, I'm all aboard I've been. I've been standing for trae young since he was a sophomore in high school. So I love the kid. He's a, he's a great young man. And I, I mean, I'm a believer again. I'm not the most objective person when it comes to talking about him, but there are a few things that summer that I was a little bit. I hate to draw conclusions about summer league, but I did expect him to beat people off the dribble with a lot lot more regularity and a lot easier than I.
