The Notorious Gold Club Case in Atlanta With Mark Sewell

"The gold club case here for just first off, give an overview of that and endless job in 'cause I'm gonna have some legal questions for you. So we'll dive in as we go here. Sure. Actually, to get a full measure of the go club case, you have to go back to the Olympics. And the owner of the go club leading up to the Olympics was two brothers, last named kirkendall, but they got an offer that they couldn't refuse literally with cash money to sell the gold club to a very wealthy businessman, a Jewish businessman out of New York, and that'll become important later. Named Steve Kaplan, and he bought the gold club in 95 leading up to the Olympics in 96 because if nothing else, if he only owned it for during the Olympics, that would be a great investment because you're going to have primarily men in to the tune of tens of thousands flocking into the Olympics. And then where are they going to go at nighttime? These are sports oriented men, young men, and et cetera. So the short term gain was to own a strip club during the Olympics. All types of adult entertainment businesses sprung up during the Olympics and then went out of business as soon as the Olympics was over with. It was make the quick money. And Steve Kaplan's case and the gold club's case, they made their money during the Olympics, and then they kept the train rolling. And used the momentum of the Olympics to build the reputation of the goal club. And by the time that our case was over with or by the time we took our case down and made it public, the gold club was the most lucrative strip club in America to the tune of about $8 million a year. Probably 6 million of that was legitimate. If not more, and then a couple million of that was illegitimate ranging from skim tax money to perhaps prostitution money, et cetera but $8 million a year for one club. And that club was owned by a man named Steve Kaplan, as I mentioned, and when he bought the club, that he's from New York, he owns numerous businesses in the New York area. He was a known Gambino associate from the Gambino family, one of the 5 New York families. The New York Gambino squad basically picked up the phone called down to Atlanta and said, hey, we want you to know that one of our guys up here in New York, Steve Kaplan, who's in one of the most powerful crews in the Gambino family, has just bought a business down in Atlanta, and you should be aware of it. And that's the way the FBI exchanges information more or less. When one office knows about crime occurring in another office or the potential for crime or a criminal moving into their area, then we have formal and informal communications where we share that information. Mark Sewell Describes the Uniqueness of Various FBI Offices

"Got there, what was some of the main emphasis of the Atlanta office? Because I've helped people understand the field perspective of what agents do. Yeah, so each office in each city is similar in many regards, but also has a little bit of difference to reflect that city. So every office is divided into squads and so for example, in Atlanta, we had a bank robbery squad where we had 12 or 15 agents who worked bank robberies and Atlanta was a very popular destination for bank robberies. Los Angeles is the bank robbery capital of the U.S.. So Los Angeles had a couple three squads that tackled nothing but the problem of bank robberies. New York is the home of the mafia. So New York had 5 squads that tackled the mafia in Atlanta. We had one. Drugs are, as you know, a big problem in South Florida, Miami had 5 drug squads, for example, in Atlanta we had one. Atlanta had no one particular problem that it focused on. It just had a little bit of everything. So we had a white collar crime squad. We had a foreign counterintelligence squad because of university of Georgia and Georgia Tech and the aerospace that technology that's in Atlanta. We had a public corruption squad that handled just that public corruption. We had a gang squad. But we just had one of each because Atlanta was just one of those cities that had all the crimes, none more than other, but enough to keep every squad busy. I would say that.

Retired FBI Agent Mark Sewell on His Time in Atlanta

"All right, now you get to Atlanta, your new agent, of course, you got experience. You've had that going on. You get to Atlanta and for those listeners here and again, listing all over the country in the world. Atlanta at that time, talk about it from your perspective coming in new. I was born and raised in Georgia. So I was just 60 miles north of Atlanta. That was a really heady time for Atlanta because the Olympics had just came and gone. Of course you had the bombing. You had a lot of things going on. Talk to us about hitting that field office at that time. Yeah, good point. There was plenty of agents to include my training agents that were there or had been there already before the Olympics and as well as the early 90s. And they would tell you and they would tell me that they were there when they saw Atlanta transition from a medium sized southern city to a more of a metropolitan city that could that didn't represent necessarily the south anymore because it was just a little bit of everything. So by the time the Olympics had been completed and the building and the infrastructure that came with the Olympics was completed. And then the world's attention was on Atlanta and Atlanta grew in reputation. And all of these things factor in and the low cost of living by the time I arrived in 97, Atlanta was the New York of the south. It was also referred to as the black Hollywood. Because of the influence of rap music and black entertainment in general. So it was, I think you might have said it already. It was a very happening place in

"Thanks for being part of the Doug Collins broadcast. We're glad you're back. Got a good one for you today. And we're gonna jump right into it. For those who know me very well, it's not the last few years have been a little interesting for me in the FBI. If you talk about the Jim Comey, you talk about some of the top level. We've not probably had the best of worlds going on, but the field FBI agents are some of the best in the world. I truly believe that. And they have done some incredible work. And tonight, as we get started in this podcast, we start, you're going to really get a kick out of this because we have Mark zuhl here who is not only a marine. He's an FBI agent. He now trains. He's been all over the world. But he has some really cool cases. So Mark, let's just jump right into this. "Or do you maybe get some of the things done that you like early? And then that way, if you run out of time, it's magically for the stuff that you didn't want to have to do anyways, or do you just take it as it comes? Yeah. I've kind of a funny setup on this in that I don't really run my schedule or my tasks at all. I don't have any say in what gets done. I have so many people that depend on me for little things. And so they just get to put on my calendar and then I do it the order at they tell me to do it in. It's kind of funny. I'm sure I could do stuff, but I just find I'm so bad at doing anything. I will lay in bed and watch TikTok if given the opportunity over anything else about how important it is. I will just do nothing. And so I have to hack my life to be and I know David you and I are very similar in this. I have to hack my life so that so that so that your own weaknesses. Yes. That's why Jerry shows up at my house to teach jiu-jitsu. That's why Adriana shows up my house to do my massage. Because I need that thinking time. I will not take that thinking time unless somebody's at my house going, well, you got I'm here. And I love get a massage every week. It's the most profitable time I have because it's my thinking time. Plus the hour in the morning, you know, like the miracle morning stuff helps. But I still say the massage helps. So anyway, I don't choose what I do, I guess. What about a few years back though, Brandon, before yeah, before I had that, you could afford to hire those people. You know, that's what about them. Yeah, it's a good question. Yeah, you know, I think I mean, I know that when I eat food, I'm always a veg I ate the worst food to the best food in that order, always. If there's steak and there's broccoli, I like the broccoli first, then move to the steak, right? I think I do that in my own life. I think I did that as well. So I would always do the annoying work first. Eat that frog, like the phrase goes in the book goes. That's a really good book by the way everyone listening eat that frog by Brian Tracy. It's productivity book. Anyway, yes, I will do that first, but yeah. Well, here's why I asked because the pattern of how business works once you get to be pretty successful is that as tasks come in, they get bifurcated into a decision has to be made and work research logistics have to be done. Usually it's sort of like the work research logistics is lining up the bowling pins. And then somebody has to come in and roll the ball. And the skills that we teach on this podcast are mostly decision making skills, analyzing a property, how to raise the money, how to get the money coming in. Which property are we going to buy what ways are we going to add value? That's really what Brandon you call the cut that Doctor Oz would make. That's what a good investor is really focusing on..

"I think certain people close themselves off emotionally to the world because they don't want to be hurt, and they think that's keeping themselves safe, just like the person that dies with a $100 million in the bank, but no Fred, so I don't know if that answered your question, but that's how you spend your money at speaks, right? And how you spend your time speaks. It does. I just finished a book while I since I finished. I'm almost finished with it. It's a short book. It's called the treasure principle by Randy elkhorn. It's a Christian book about being generous with your money. But he makes this fascinating point in there. I thought was so good. He said, if you were to go buy, let's say you had a $100,000 net worth right now. You got about a $100,000 number. You're going to drop 90% of that on Dell stock. In Dell computers, right? Guess what you're going to be focused on. Every newspaper article, oh Dell, okay, I got to read that one. He said you're giving doesn't follow your interest, your interest follow your giving. So whatever you put money into is what your mind's gonna focus on, which is one of the reasons we all think about real estate a lot because a lot of our money goes into our real estate deal. So we see real estate in the newspaper. We're going to perk up. So he's like, look, if you have, if you're like, oh, I really wish I was more into, you know, I wish I was better at education, helping kids with education. Put a bunch of your money with kids in education. And you will naturally be more interested in that thing. I thought that was such a great point. Yeah, our interests will follow where we spend our money. And our show me your bank account and I'll show you your heart. I think they've said where your treasure is your heart will follow. And I think that's great about what Whitney's doing is by adopting children from a place where they likely wouldn't have had as good of a life as he's going to be able to give them here. It tears your heart away from the intoxicating elements of what wealth can do. And it keeps it grounded and something else and Brandon, that's something I've seen you make very intentional is investing your time, not just into business, but making sure that you're putting it into your family and into the people you influence..

Definitely today me and David put ourselves in that spot by sitting there talking with Whitney. You're going to hear just how wildly intelligent and ambitious this guy is. He's something I think he's somebody I definitely look up to and I think you will as well. So with that said, let's jump into the interview with Whitney sewell. Mister Whitney Sue, welcome to the bigger pockets podcast man in honor to have you here today. I am honored to be here Brandon. Well, this will be fun. You know, you and I know each other a little bit we hang out there and the Colorado mountains for a few days back last springtime. And we got to know each other a little bit, but I never got to hear your origin story. Where did the famed Whitney school come from? So what are we getting to that? How did you get into real estate? And what were you doing beforehand and what sparked your interest in real estate investing? I'm going to go way back Brandon because I feel like it's very valuable to your listeners. And I go back to march of 2001 and in March is when I decided to join the military. And if you can remember in 2001, what happened 6 months later, you know, at that time I just knew it was the right thing to do, but of course I had no idea that in just a few months that our country would be at war. And I'd be spending a year of my life in Iraq toting around a machine gun. Obviously praying every day that I get to go home. Yeah. Unfortunately, not everyone in my squad made it home. Thankfully, lord protected me and allowed me to make it home. But one thing the military taught me, Brandon, and I feel like as an entrepreneur, he almost just have to have this one way or another is to have a never give up mentality. And it's just not an option to give up when you're in combat. I mean, other people are depending on you to perform. It doesn't matter if you stumped your toe or you hurt your arm or it just doesn't matter, right? You get knocked down, you have to get back up and more than your own life is online there..

"In your store and so now like that's change you can get customers from the internet can get patients from the internet. I mean right now. Like i don't even unless somebody i knew i don't take any referrals. I do everything from the internet. Essentially you know. Basically what i find is that it helps build a journey into helps you kind of educate people before they show up so when they do show up they understand like you know you may not have the physical time to spend an hour with. Each patient is impractical financially. Just doesn't make sense know with insurance persons etc. But like now. You have to to do that. Educate people when they show up there in educated consumer ready to go in. They have a few questions. And you start to build that interest sequence not only that you can hold their hand through treatment protocol and what i mean by that is not use. The word protocol. But whatever your customer journey is you'll for me on medicine so we have a series of treatments people better during that time. I want people to be educated to know like. Hey you just had step one. This is what we didn't step one. This is what we're expecting. You is going to be this. And so they know before they come in and decreases. The anxiety decreases that confusion and people feel this continuity of care. That was never possible before. I don't think it just has to be in medicine. I think he could be an any fields because the day what is click funnels really do it enhances your ability to build relationships in a way that was not possible before i love that document our. Cfo clinton adams. Like you know. I finally starting to figure out this clubs saints. I actually can now see. I haven't got this whole kobe thing. I actually could build my own practice as a cpa across the country whereas again he's resides. Appear in a smaller town in. Idaho says just never make a difference out if you though tidy clients. He's our cfo. He's like. I could actually see where i can create my own product and i teach educate other. Cpa's other accounts how they acted years a platform to them. Go find additional class. More poorly gift. Those referrals as you mentioned where they start coming to you because they're educated and they already know exactly what it is that you do now. They want your services and so decreases the barrier of entrance and especially for a cpa clinton's. I the last thing. I wanted to talk to somebody. And so selling a worsening the world. I don't wanna do that. But he said there said i can. Now see how you actually use this to educate them to where they would actually come to me. And i wouldn't have to sell them. I actually would be the very best. Vpn world war and now provide that service for them absolutely. And i think more than anything is it allows you have a reach that you never had before but not only that like you can build that relationship so well and then identify subsets of people. So kind of what i saw before in had pretty large Pain management practice in the past. And so we don't pain management Like we're always tasked with you with anybody who's had surgery and they have pain afterwards because usually the surgery that they're kind of dominated by saying oh you still you're still hurt like go to this guy. He'll fix it. Yeah one of things that i saw was that there was a lot of people who had a lot of knee pain after replacement surgery and one of the things that you wasn't too happy with was like some of the results that i've seen with some of these patients because many of them had never had a chance to try anything else and so i was able to develop a protocol over many years that will allows us to basically take somebody who has severe arthritis in basic is simply get them back to the ability to walk participate activities in the past by done that i would have to go to drug company. Who didn't approve that in basically say like hey i need to fund a study that has no patients you know now i can reach out and find a way to make this work through insurance. Bring people in treat them get them better and then have them to bring more people in and you know you're basically you're impact is so large remember russell many times as you don't. Hey this is about increasing the size of jury impacts and. I don't think that. Click me until i really started doing kind of the things that we're doing now with some of the arthritis treatments because i realize now it's not even necessarily about sales or getting people in the door or you know getting well-known rethink. This it's like when you have somebody who couldn't walk in. Now they're doing the electric slide in your office like there's no money. Does that feels like good. You know so then. That's all through the ability to kind of learning and learn the principles that russell teaches. Yeah so what are the things he'd been doing. Actually help other doctors in your practice to really get out outside of that. Normal comfort zone of reaching out to people seeking have that kind of impact education. Absolutely that's a great question so one of the things that we continue education company and that's a grown very very large kind of as a A set of helping people learn new skills and new techniques. Because you know in the past would happen if somebody with graduate from medical school or graduate from her training you know these things and then on the practice that skill said forever and yeah you're supposed to do continue education in these things but it was never the same as a new graduate and so often you like even beijing will tell you. Their doctor was very old. Didn't know about the treatment. New doctor knows on new treatments I would often have that. You know when i started. It was a new young doctor into like. Why did i never hear of any of that stuff. you know. because they've gone through doctor who was unfamiliar with it and they were on unknown will now we can reach build networks of physicians. Who actually want to like you know treat patients in and teach them. These skill sets. Help them We do the same thing for nurses on an we're able to work together and coordinate artillery in our research these kind of things to find new solutions to the problems in much much faster way than was previously available. I love that. i think If you don't mind kind of explain to people why dec- see is so important. Because i think. I see a lot of opportunity for newest listeners. To if there is a vertical or niche especially professionals. They only get continued education. They all need to get to see and get whether that's a doctors..

"Debris introduced you my dear friend out of suhl dr adam soule who has the guy. I'm just always so impressed with. He's so humble never ever since it thinks i'll give you a little bit grittier. This guy basically win from middle school straight to college just skipped highschool at all. I need to thirteen starts. High school graduates of the university of florida. Eighteen goes to med. School is triple board physician and gets a massive practice built and all of a sudden wife kind of changes in go. Wait a second. this should be happening. They should be going this direction. But finds russell's member inner circle and has now taken this to actually scale and growing not his business but other doctors and things and we're not a lot of fun kind of exploring click donald poorly really exploring all things he's done so adam. Welcome to the show. My friend thank you. I'm honored to be here building. Any any holes i. I skip over to fasting. Heat your whole life experience in two seconds there. So what are the party. Real people understand Well thank you. Yeah basically you know not gonna wear star. But i'm a medical doctor and so i'm a triple board certified anesthesia pain management in addiction medicine. And so i did the classic thing that we all told like marquette. If you wanna be successful become a doctor read And so did the twelve years of studies all kind of stuff to do that. And then did additional training beyond that to get the extra board certification anti i in my mind. I kind of reached the peak of what it was like. What did they tell you to do. And i've found that like it ended up just kind of being kind of routine ended up being kind of cookie cutter away. And that's what you see when you go to physician writes like you're the insurance telling you can do this or that or you know the government tells you this or that and so what i found was that you know. Basically when i was practicing i found that started studying to russell. Brunson funnels and that allowed me to get the technology to basically pull in large numbers of patients pretty easily mainly through. Educating people like not even consider like sales but just providing information to them. Educating zooming you might say to somebody like if you meet on the street i would try to produce that and then get out to large of a number of people through social media or the internet and what i found was like educating people had so many benefits number one you help a lot of people even if they never come to you. Your education walston prompt them doctor about things would have not known about but also helps you educate the market. So they know there's other alternatives out there and in medicine. There's so many things that people do people know. But it's not communicated clearly to the average person and the average person doesn't know about it and using technology click funnels like we're able to reach out and do that on a mass scale and do like russell call one to mini selling able to educate people in then let them know that there are things they can do that. You know they don't have to suffer with you. Know illnesses that they can use to help them. And so that was kind of like the. I kind of click in my mind of about that. And then what i found was that i was really excited about that and use that to build several clinics and then Like what i've learned from that is also. The physicians are like ver highly trained. In like i consider you know news. Ideally like some of the smartest people go into medicine. But then you get out there and you're kinda like doing the same thing over and over but with the technology funnels it allows you to develop new protocols new technology new treatments for people and then bring them in because you can reach out to them and so you can get the patients you need to build things that would normally not impossible in the past unless you were busy backed by large pharmaceutical company or something like this and my love it again. Congrats on our maria de tacoma. Come award winners as well. It's super excited to see all that success. You're having i think the part. I'm most excited about those guys you're listening you're going one not doctor. I don't know how this is gonna work for me. Please understand The gracing for me. Is i take all atoms done is. He's now skilled. Created this amazing skill for marketing and education and We're talking to you about this. Whole protocol thanks for those guys are listening. I force understanding boards of education the importance of creating your own format of anna platform to teach and educate and draw people to our talk here just about a few minutes about why that's important for a physician and so if you know many festivals all that would never work made. This is the she definitely wants sent to them. But in addition that. I highly recommend as you're listening to this. Think of how you can actually apply that to your business so you know. Let's talk a little bit about this whole idea as far as protocol. What does that really mean. Why is it important for you. And how did you use. All you learned working with russell and click falls actually have success at. I think there's gonna two things one is that you know. The world has changed a lot Especially with the kobe. Nineteen but with technology. Click funnels you can build a relationship with people online and you can. You can basically like have to the technology to reach like you're basically Made you like a webinar. Somebody's interest and then you send them more information then you can send them automated text messages to further. Educate them in the past. The only time you'd be able to speak to a patient or to one of your customers if you're businessman will be like win. They're.

"For people listening to this that want to work on fostering a more inclusive community actually in real life. What are some advice for people. Listening that are gonna hopefully take this back into their workplaces. What are some things that you think are some obvious. And some not so obvious. Things that can promote change and inclusivity especially focused on the plot community. Will i think the most obvious right off. The bat is not expecting that someone is going to sit. There aren't educated. You on everything. I think the second part of that. Let's maybe a little bit less obvious or maybe a little bit less of a initial behavior or response is seeking out the media that you wouldn't necessarily think is quote unquote for you for example them. I think a lot of people. Just say oh that's lgbtq outlet like that's not necessarily for me or something that's like mind to be a part of life and actually you know the more informed you are the more you read the more you take in on your time. The more you actually engage with the issues on again on your own time makes you that much better of a friend door part of someone's community because you at least have some sense of what's going on and what's maybe affecting them were impacting amendment in their day to day lives. And while that doesn't mean that you're the best speak on it or or you know does always be bringing up conversation about those things. It goes a long way and then another obvious one. Is that when say something happens. That clearly is event. That is impacting whether it's equipment any black community. You know asian community. I think the initial reaction from a lot of special. Ed white folks or folks don't identify in that group is to check in and i think the ways in which you check in also important to consider night with love to hear more about that. They are sure. Because i yeah i know a lot of folks. Get the ten texts than it's it's like you know that that is well-meaning at its core but even at that experience can be a lot so one thing i will say as it doesn't always have to be like this media kind of strange knee-jerk kind of reaction text. I thank you know. Consider your relationship at the percent. Don't be weird about it. I think a simple thinking of you or like you know even asking like if they wanna like do something later rather than bill like. Hey checking in. Like i think goes a long way what i like the advice stuff like..

He's got he's got zack. Wilson on tv right that the niners trade happens so they trade up. So we're talking about the niners trade. he's watching. The monitor was zack wilson. Also kind of juggling. I look i got my computer open. And i see the eagles website tweet that they have just traded with with to go back from six to twelve. So he's got one trade. Zack wilson. and i'm on my laptop. Seeing another trade. So while he's talking. I turn my laptop. You're all the way across the table. Because a social distancing. I like slide my laptop across the table so he can read it that. It's the verified philadelphia eagles account saying this trade and son of a gun never stuttered or anything and he just kind of. He swallowed all that information and then boom. "We approach it. Let's be positive. No negative everything. Not so serious okay. There's nobody life or death issues here whereas watching guy role left and throw right. It's fun we're allowed to do that. All right anything else. You guys want to add before we jump out of here. You know spirited condo. Let's let's let's budny back because we started with basketball. So let's finish basketball. Let's talk a little bit about jalen Hitting the shot not only about him hitting the shot but the fact that he was a very decorated and accomplished multi sport athlete. I mean this is a guy who was. I think we stayed clear. The football and basketball in minnesota a four star recruit as a football player and five star in basketball. What we think about the multi sport thing and how does it relate to like what we're going to be talking about over the next. It's getting ready for the draft particularly some of these quarterbacks. My my first thought was do the three sixty series. Which is we're going to have a episodes coming up here shortly where this year. We're doing fields wilson. But when we do that we go back. And we talked all these coaches you know. We did with herbert last year. He talked to is basketball coach. We've done with these guys And we've learned a lot about just you know majority. These guys have all played multiple sports and we see it with suggs being this phenomenal basketball player. Gonzaga big time. Big time quarterback recruit offered by everybody in the country. But you know what got me thinking. And wasn't it it. I think it was haskins. Right where symbol. Seven yay quarterback because he was playing football year round. And i thought you know what that's that is interesting man like it's to me the the kind of the. What do we call that specialization. That we're kind of. It's not good man. This is a success. Another example of that like he's he's done okay didn't hurt. His basketball career is playing football in bucky. Didn't didn't your in your interview with john. Becton john talk about how justin fields in how they benefited from his baseball background. A little bit after louis. so so. here's the thing. Not only that. I think the conversations and getting ready to put together to three sixty which you guys have to check out Not on justin feels bizac wilson. So justin feels. Background is in baseball and Man look i think he played in the middle of the info. Or maybe there and we talked about. I think we talked to david. Cut clip where debbie cutler talked about. He want quarterbacks in e called middle filled their hands. Meaning when you play shortstop and second base you always have to be able to make these transactions in terms of turning to and scooping in flipping and all this other stuff so it allows you to do a bunch of different things without looking at the ball hitting your hands and then zag wilson being an accomplished basketball player we've taught klay others about i mean pete carroll is always talked about basketball envisioned and being able to see and being able to process and do all those things and so. I don't think it is a coincidence. That when we look at the top quarterbacks in the national football league they have other sports as part of their background. Pat mahomes wilson being baseball players. Some of the other guys being big time players in other sports. I think it matters. And i would like a quarterback that has done more than just play seven. Seven quarterback his entire upbringing. I think it's i think it's important man. I think it is good in You know wilson was a really good ball players. We talked to his basketball coach for this upcoming sixty. You guys will enjoy that..

"He is a very good player in. I have ranked as the top offensive tackle but that grading process in historical grace is certainly should matter when it comes to given out there great and talking about him when you have an opportunity to move off of him in favor of. Let's say like piss who you guys are saying. As a generational talent the value would be over him. Because you're talking about someone who we're saying is a gold. Jackie got like that should be the standard. When we're talking about those guys in the top and in the last thing i'll say on is like if not the bengals then wear like you're looking at maybe ten to the cowboys. You're looking outside the top. Ten at that point. Yeah i think so. I think i think he gets on greece bowl a little bit and he gets down into that conversation the cowboys the giants the chargers he somewhere in inattentive ten fifteen. I mentioned look. I have him as a twelve player but found the chargers. Picking at thirteen east gets to ten nine ten. I think you know it's almost later guy. But slater could very well end up playing inside the chargers. Have that whole at left tackle. I i would probably still lean towards later but i wouldn't hate it at all if the charges were sitting at thirteen and traded up to nine or ten and took pennzoil. Let him protect his old buddy there and just in her. But i think that's a. I think that's a smart move. Math i think is i think it's really smart movie if he's there and i think if you're the charges you obviously know Doing a lot of working contributing there. It is all about for me protecting the keen. We'll take a chess referenced. The first thing that you learned in chess is all about protecting the king. So if just in. Herbert is what we say is in. He shown to be an elite level player. I wanna make sure that he is protected so he can do what he does from the pocket and as a playmaker and so pervasive was there. And i think you run the card up no i. I wouldn't think he would get by them i. I'd be curious if they would triangle up and get him if he did start to drift a little bit That's interesting it's interesting conversation. There's a lot of these kind of inflection points in the draft as we look at anything else Buck from the From the pro circuit that That stood out to you. I thought one thing. You mean. johnson of indiana. Yeah we're we're going to devote a whole show to that next week. Oh did you see the rashaad bateman. The he was listed at two ten digi said was wrong. he's he's one hundred ninety pounds like dj good player. But that's like i was like whoa whether if first-rate me right because in here's the thing we don't get a chance to go on the road and no one could get on the road we couldn't go to real games in him and so when someone is listed in the media gada six to two tin and then you watch him. Play the comparisons. I was making based on these gambling. Same a j brown. Michael thomas this with him when he shows up at one hundred ninety pounds and he rise like that whenever comparisons go from those beasts physically to now we're talking about like I think next gen stats was kenny. Steals and justin jefferson and those things. That's a huge difference in terms of as rebuilding the basketball team style of play. Yeah like we we now. Where from fat lever the post up shooting guard dude out there floating around like alex things like it's completely different deal and i know the one..

"Which is two desperate teams yellow quarterback that pick right behind you. So not only am i going to have a bidding war between teams. I'm still going to more than likely. Get the player. I would have picked if i wasn't going to take a quarterback at seven eight or nine. There's exactly what i'm getting to is at detroit is picking at seven. It makes no sense if if they take a quarterback. I get if they're not going to take a quarterback it makes zero sense for them to stick. Because i would think at worst you could just call carolina and say. Give me a three and you can come up one spot. Take your quarterback you. We're yeah just flipping just his first year. Because that'll be fun. The team in this. That i think has probably more the desperation i think. The carolina panthers are more desperate than had never broncos. I think the denver broncos even though george band comes over to general manager. I think he'd be like you know like okay like we want to upgrade. But how much do we want to mortgage the future to upgrade. I think the carolina panthers basic kinda boxed himself. he's been in on everybody in india everybody. They boxed themselves into a corner where they're going to get a quarterback some way shape or form and so i think they're the team with the owner saying out on care. Give up whatever we have to give up so we can get the guy that we want. And if one of those guys trae lance justin feels the sitting right there within range australia. I expect i expect him to make the move. The question then is does detroit. Wanna play or detroit. Wanna stick the quarterback that that to me is what gets fast because the other thing. I'm thinking of you know what i'm saying. Hey this is. This is how the phone call could go. Hey brad. hey. It's matt scott federer here we we wanted. Just we wanted. Just move up one spot. You know you're not taking a quarterback will flip you a three round say non not doing it. Oh we'll flip you to not doing. I'm going to stick and pick okay. Well you taken. Well i'll tell you what. I'm taking justin fields by the way. What will you give me for jared. Goff you don't have a quarterback like not only. Am i not treating with you. You're going to have to trade me. Something to get. Jared goff now because i just took your quarterback i mean that's a good one jared goff over what they haven't carolina take jared goff over teddy bridgewater. He's an upgrade man. Jay golf like he's over two houses in europe. That's not is that crazy it's crazy. Isn't that crazy but for him. And maybe maybe she stole the rental market. Sell down a bit. anything. I think that that trade that jared goff was a good. They're happy about jared goff but that trade was about getting once you know that will entry matt stafford getting in. Who's to say that. "The only other time Iowa State put nine wins together. I was surprised they even play 10 10 games that year back in 1906. Remember doing research on Minnesota who had a successful season last year, but their last win of elected last year they won 11 games was back in 1903, and they played a couple of high schools. They're all counted right. The old record books. There is no longer for Iowa State Drive started. 42 takes it up to the 45 yard line. Nick, we be with tackle on the clock's gonna roll under three minutes to go. It's really only for friends and family inside of Mammoth 72,000 seats, State Farm Stadium. In Glendale School had about 900 tickets to the game. Both quarterbacks are Phoenix area natives. When theory could just head right back home with their parents they want to after the game. Rock party waiting on second down in seven. It's a gift. Founders transition excuse me transitioning to the role of CEO and the in sort of sounds obvious that founders would do that. But. They struggle with that kind of thing. Why is that? Initially it's this mindset that being able to go from. It's my baby to the business right you start off and founder mode and you know the market you know. The product or service your customer you had this idea it was your blood sweat and tears and all of a sudden you Kinda have to step back and say it's not about me the. Achievement and success of the business are not necessarily mine. It's business and it has its own reis and it has its own people and as you grow team etcetera and so it's just mindset shift that I think founders struggle to make, and maybe because many of them are execution type people and they're not best manager leader type of person that takes. A transition and skills as well. senior that's interesting. It is It's tough to remove that emotion. From. Neil being founder owner. To. Having to make unemotional decisions a CDL. Exactly I'm in, you'd think about companies having the pivot right. Now you're the founder and you had this idea and just been working on five years and it's released your baby. It's what you're attached to me. You have to bet and completely go in a different direction and you have to let go of what that idea may have been. Hopefully, it's just an iteration of it, but you have to let go at that what's best for the business maybe not exactly what you want to be doing or where your energy and passion exactly sets. Yeah boy. Okay so a lot of founders Go through burnout when they're actually trying to scale their business. What? guess ensures, but what leads to that and what they could be doing differently. I think out framework around this scaling and moving into a CEO. Yes when you're founder everything is within your domain and you're wearing many hats and you're working very hard and as you transition to see you know the role changes and the problems become more complex and the team is growing and you become and manager, and there are moderates how the role of changes which we can may Chad about in terms beds burn out I think that. Founders, get stuck in the weeds because they have a hard time letting go right as you grow your team, you have to be able to delegate. It's one of the most important things you can do give up some control and trust that you hire the right people and empower them, and so you gotta be able to delegate and I think for founders giving up that initial control or any amount of control is very hard. To do I also think we have this mentality that the media certainly sewell's that you know to be successful founder you have to work twenty four hours a day. That's that stressed the game everybody who's been successful does it and that's the only way to go about it and you know even if I got my own business I felt like well, any free time I had I should be working on the business why why wouldn't I? You know what else was I doing and there's always something more you can be doing, and so you know I got caught up in that mentality as well and I think it's easy to and the media certainly plays into that the great stories of sacrifice and. Dedication and all of these things when it's not true and So I think we have to change the story a little bit in the mindset of bit but I also think it's giving up control and delegating to people that you've hired. It's a big piece.
