From Domestic Violence abuser to Family Man, A.W Burgess Speaks

"W burgess how you doing. I'm doing phanom. A w burgess of course brother works and the community helping to end domestic violence. He himself has been involved in domestic violence. He's gonna get all that. And i'm just glad you're here man. I'm glad you so transparent because this is a story that can help a whole lot of people because people think that people can't change yes you hit a just tell everybody if you can change anybody could change right indeed much stories. Pretty pretty simple. I think that My store is no different than many folks but where it differs is the accountability piece and the transparency piece. I believe that children learn what you know. And from where they live and then they go on to live what they learned you know. What's the old saying. Her people hurt people. yes Well i believe that's that's a fact also believe that they hurt people because they haven't learned what the it is in. You know that's causing them to hurt others in first if almost they're hurting themselves to begin with and then they go on to hurt other other folks. You know so i. I just believe that we have to speak life into our children's lives because again is beginning in those four walls in those four walls at the house and then obviously is coming out to the halls of work school churches so currently kirk franklin and his son going back and forth. You heard about that right. No have not all men him and his son going back and forth his son put out a audiotape. A to the world of kirk franklin cussing his son out like a sailor. You soon as thirty. Three's is first born and a lot of people trying to figure out what are the dynamics. End our relationship and he was just talking about hurt. People hurt people. Kurt was really angry and his son. Said he's put hands on him before. An therapy sessions What kind of anger is that between family members. So son in a father well again. You know you're talking about agassi physical abuse but it starts with emotional abuse and again i take it back to the root cause of it. Meaning where did kurt actually get. Those methods of solving problems You know so. What did he witness child or what happened to him. Yeah did somebody do something that his parents put a family member or even a coach or maybe even a choir director someone in the choir. They put hands on him. There is a route costs for that anger. You know i'd venture to say that many men today. Bj their anger comes from a source. Meaning many men are have been molested as children at spoke at a conference. Had a gentleman literally come up to me with his wife and he said. Hey w i gotta be honest after hearing you speak i wanna i wanna get to the root of it. I'm gonna go ahead and Tell my story. This was the seventy seven year old man and he looks wife. Looks at me. Says a w have been married for fifty two years and i've been abused my wife for fifty four years fifty four years says he looks at her looks at me says honey this is it. I gotta go. I gotta get it out. He said when i was nine years old he says sixty eight years ago. My girl cousin molested lau goes on to say. I thought i was hurting her Because there were times. When i was bleeding and i didn't know i was bleeding. You know and. I thought that i caused her to bleed. Yeah and He said but the thing when she was finished with me eight w she would pass me onto my brother my other my my god cousin and he would molest wow man he's always says i'm here to tell you. He looks at his wife. Looks at me and he says honey. I'm gay and this is a man has been married for fifty. Two years abused her for fifty four and he says to her. I hate women at those days. You know it wasn't favorable for someone to come out as a gay man so he went through the motions and the facades. And i think when you when you said that about kirk franklin. I'll talk about my life. One of the common ingredients of an abuser is. You are a hero at work in the public uh-huh but you are zero at home. And i think what his son was. Probably trying to show the world like most abusers is as my daddy like i do. I don't see who he really is when he's not cameras on and so you know and so. That's why you know if you look at the photos. That i have out there. You'll see me all dressed up you'll see this mask of a wolfson and that's the hypocrisy half man half animal. You're an animal and that's what you abuser sees day. See the the wolf in you.

9.6% of West Virginia's population have received first dose of Covid vaccine

"Many cities and states across the country struggle to get vaccines to those. Who need them. One state that has been a relative success. Story is west. Virginia nine point. Six percent of the population in west virginia has received a first dose of the vaccine. That's among the highest rates of any state in the country. Dr clay marsh is west. Virginia's corona virus are. He's been leading the state's effort to fight covid nineteen she wanted to beginning of the pandemic. Vaccines became available. We talk with our governor and decided that we were take control of all of the vaccine doses. So we're working with. Our national guard reformed a joint interagency task force and we decided that pharmacists in west virginia should take control the vaccine so we initially have the vaccine ship to five hogs in the state that are outfitted with ultra cold storage. In case i get the pfizer vaccine. Also with generator backup. And then we transport from those five hops which are located at various strategic areas around the state to be able to kind of by the state so that you don't have to move vaccine very far between an individual hog and any place of the state and we have pharmacists received those vaccines when we distribute them for vaccination doctor marsh and his team in west. Virginia assess the federal plan for early vaccine distribution that plan put forth by trump's warp speed relied on a partnership with cvs and walgreens to distribute the vaccines in west. Virginia though marsh says that he and his team saw a better way we started to look at west. Virginia like every state has their own unique attributes. We knew that one of the first targeted populations that we wanted to vaccinate was nursing home population. We looked at our own data and fifty percent of our dust from the nursing on population average age. Somebody dying of west virginia. Seventy seven years old seventy seven point. Five percent are dozen and west virginians over seventy years all so as reluctant and them really wanted to rapidly. Get vaccines in the arms of these residents. What we that. We had a large number of small pharmacies located all over the state around two hundred half of which were privately on so as we look at the federal program with cvs walgreens. We knew that m west. Virginia that wasn't going to be able to reach all our all over the state so we decided to activate that sort of independent network and talk to operation warp speed. And they said good idea. So that's really the reason why we started to work in this particular way. This was really about us determining for west. Virginia what we thought the most expeditious inefficient hatheway was to be able to quickly get vaccines arms nursing home residents. And i'll just follow up by saying i think we're the first state to give the first dose and all of our nursing home and assisted living residents arms which we finish before the end of twenty twenty and this week will finish the second doses.

Business Is Booming At National Parks

"Standing outside the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park in Gardner Montana you could tick through about two dozen state license plates in the time that it takes you to drink a coffee. That is normal in the summer. What's not normal is the people driving those cars doing stuff like this we rented a van and it has a Florida license sag but I put a sign in the back window that said we are not from Florida. Lynn Hunter and her family are from Kansas, your that Kansas, even grandson, Noah will tell you. Don't want anybody think we are same goes for just about any place that's been in the news recently for having spikes in Cova Cases Families like the hunters are driving national parks like yellowstone in droves right now, king to escape from wherever are trying to salvage a summer of stress and they know that it comes with risks we were scared to come really we've been planning it for a long time. So here they are at one of the country's first national parks and they're happy they did thing is the same is true for about one point five, million other people since mid-may Ricarda, raise, and his family are from North Carolina. Made. It will be a kind of a little bit but a lot of people out there over the last couple of weeks the number of cars entering the Gardner entrance at Yellowstone National Park are higher than they were at the same time. Last year restaurants have long waits rafting companies are struggling to find workers and fly fishing guides. Richard Parkes owner of parks fly shop says too bad anglers. There's just as many people casting for Yellowstone Brown or cutthroat trout as there's ever been before I. Think we're getting some people that are just refugee ing Outta those places that's great for his bottom line park says he makes between eighty and ninety percent of his annual earnings between June and September. But at seventy seven years old, it's also a bit worrisome. I'm official old. Flood. Is. One of the people inherently more vulnerable than others and I get a little nervous when? Some mob of people running in. No Mash, no apparent care of how many people showed in the place but that's the dance he's having to do yellowstone brings in more than six hundred, million dollars to its surrounding communities every year most of that in the summer nationally visitor ship to national parks generates more than forty billion dollars annually, and so even while there are concerns particularly around rural parks like yellowstone that outsiders may be bringing in more than just. Their pocket books during the pandemic it's a risk that many are willing to take and so foreign yellowstone it seems to be paying off definitely get for the business community I think that you know in May they may have thought that they might not make it through the end of the year, and now they're seeing record breaking numbers juries. PETKOFF is the executive director of Garner's Chamber of Commerce so far she says only. Two Park employees and three visitors have tested positive for COVID. She sure some have gone undetected, but the numbers thus far are encouraging. Typically visitation goes way slower October. So we only have more months to make it through. So I think everyone has kind of holding their breath and just hoping the community spread doesn't happen I. Don't think I've ever been in a summer that I wanted to end as quickly as this one. Camp Shali Superintendent of Yellowstone National Park. There's not a day that I come to work where fearful of multiple employees testing positive for having symptoms yellowstone like many national parks around the country is limiting its services this summer to try and protect employees and visitors closing campgrounds in some cases or visitor centers. Social distancing and masks are strongly encouraged outside of the post office yellowstone's headquarters to mask bear statues serve as a reminder. But the National Park. Service overall has not mandated face coverings. Charlie says most visitors are doing a good job of protecting themselves and others, but not always. So He's urging people if you're sick. Are you have symptoms or you're not sure do us all a favor and don't come to the park or anywhere else for that matter Nathan Rot NPR News Gardner Montana.

Buffalo, New York officers leave emergency response team after two cops suspended

"Is the buffalo police emergency response team which were among those individuals in the riot looking gear with shields with batons they resigned from that special a special position this is a report at a buffalo New York from earlier today at this special squad of buffalo police department officers this emergency response team they resigned from their posts according to the B. P. B. eight do you know what the B. P. B. A. is that would be the buffalo police benevolent association and this comes the day after the officer push this elderly guy down and two of their members wore suspended without pay so now they're quitting the squad fifty seven resigned in disgust because of the treatment of the two members who are simply executing their orders said John Evans the PBA president see this is where things get interesting because you have the PBA wraps which go to the wall for police officers and I understand that I get it it's like even though you committed murder even though you committed a heinous crime you still have a defense attorney whether it's a paid for defense attorney or whether it's a a P. D. a public defender they still don't regardless of how heinous your crime is they still defend you to the help they still give you the best possible defense and in many cases that's what the PBA does they stand behind their cops I am very pro police because the bulk of the police that I know whether it's local state or federal the police that I know are fine upstanding individuals members law enforcement that serve their communities and country that's my experience with those that I know in law enforcement I support law enforcement but I will call out bad behaviour and what I saw in buffalo that's just itching for a **** that's just actually looking for all our problems so in this sign a unity the fifty seven members they resign well I think deep down they know that the officer probably should not have pushed the seventy seven year old a seventy five year old guy over M. "Seventy seventy seven years after the murder of our only piece president. That's how we always referred to John Kennedy as our only piece president. He said, do you know that? According to the Harris polls, only eighty one percent of all Americans believe the war reporter, believe us. Well, did it alone and I said, don't want Mr. garrison with everybody feeling that way. Why why isn't more being Saturday done? He said, because you'll be shocked by the second question on the poll of what is that? He said they asked people if they would like another thorough investigation that did not involve the FBI the CIA being involved in an investigation, and he said, only twenty three percents, they did not want another investigation, and it said to me, what does that tell you, and I said, Mr. garrison, what it tells me as I know what my mother and father did on the pool table or in the rumble seated, the car in the back, galley wherever they did it to conceive me. But don't ever tell me my mother's, not virgin, bats for the title of the book came from Garissa. Said to me in a Mark Twain said a century, the decades ago, he said it's easier to convince easier to fool people than to convince them they have been ruled, and I'm telling you something Chris way have been fooled. Since November twenty second nineteen sixty three now that does bring us to real people. But what does it brings us to the truth about Jim garrison? Okay. So before we get into more, Jim garrison story, and what he and covered while investigating the assassination of president Kennedy. Let me take a quick Bennett here to talk with the gift. I'd want to receive Father's Day, if I hadn't already had it shipped to me talking about Omaha Steaks have been going on about this for a couple of weeks..

"They have been around for about seventy seven years. It's a voluntary chorus of about one hundred fifty singers. They focus on three areas. They look at coral works. They look at operas that they do in concert. And then they also do music theater, and they perform all over New York City places like Carnegie Hall and city center, the artistic director, Ted Sperling described the group to me as the art of musical storytelling. So what they're doing with lady in the dark is this is a show that first premiered on Broadway in nineteen forty one. And it was quite a big success. Danny Kaye, the actor this is where he made his Broadway debut when they sold the rights to this Broadway show to a movie became the highest some that was ever paid at that time for something like that. So it was a very popular show. And the thing is this is a really put yourself back in nineteen forty one. This is a really unique show about psychoanalysis. It is a woman who is the editor of fashion magazine and through analysis. She kind of finds at what's going on inside or head and part of that involves these three really surreal dream sequences. In the first one, it's the glamour dream she dreamed. She is the most glamorous woman in all of New York City. And then in the second dream, it's the wedding dream that she has this very confusing dream about who she marry. And then the third one is called the circus. And she is the star of the circus, and she is on trial before a jury of peers who do you think that would be and most clowns? I think that's that's ten twelve clowns judge, but she has to dig deep inter psycho analysis and figure out what is going on. She finds this. This is a time. I don't know if you know, the movie by Hitchcock's spellbound also had a dream sequence came out around the same time that was done by Salvador Dali. So this show is the music is by Kurt vile, the lyrics, I reverse when the book and the direction is by moss Hart and reportedly the show is inspired in part by his own experiences. And psycho analysis I'm looking at the press release here. That's interesting is the three different. We're going to get that close in jumped out at me. Well, so this production..

"Is it's time to draft Lester l wall for twenty twenty lesser is. I mean, and I got his slogan. He's a wolf in old man's skin. That's a great slogan. So he'll be aggressive. He'll get you your socialism, Lester l Wolff for twenty twenty. He'll be one hundred. It's great. And one in twenty one. Now, we have the campaign art made up post this on glennbeck dot com. You're good looking man. You're kidding me. Now, they couldn't get him to look up into the lens of the camera for this shot. Using. But he's he's. This guy has what twenty thirty years more experience than some of these democratic challenger. He was closer to the new ideas. Yeah. Yeah. He was there. He was there. He, you know, he's probably is I president. He's remembering is like Woodrow. No, no. One. Well, maybe maybe as his first memory, you might have. Then he went through all the FDR stuff. Yeah. This guy is a guy who has real experience. Not like these young candidates of today who have like Joe Biden, Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders. Snapper, those whippersnappers don't even know. I know I want Lester l Wolff for president into thousand twenty. So please tweet we'll give you we'll we'll start this really, you know, we'll have all the campaign materials for you by Monday. But we'd like you to tweet Lester l Wolff draft Lester l Wolff for twenty twenty W O L F F, right? W O L F F. I've been looking at some of his VP candidates, by the way, I've got some good nominations. There's a guy in Connecticut who's ninety nine. He's gonna be one hundred soon. So he's like right on on the tail of at Lester l Wolff. Can you imagine? I think his last name is Grabowski. Did he serve or ski twenty twenty in the congress? Yeah, he has less Terrell wolf actually had a pretty long career in each. He hosted ask congress on PBS for many years apparently. And he's a he was a pretty accomplished guy. I like this guy Grabowski though, because I think he served one term nineteen sixty seven. So like, you just bring them back almost an outsider does have experience. Yeah. Well, it's been an outsider for a long time. Forty. So he's not part of the Washington. You know, swamp swamp. He's coming in from the outside. He's worked in the private sector for all of. You know, it's electric when you hear him, you know, when he swing he he when he feels up to say. That's what fires me up every time. It gets me every I get chills. Chills. Just from here. Waiting to hear the real audio him saying saying that it's it's great. So Lester l Wolff for president for president in twenty twenty. This is a real game changer. Look everyone else in the Democratic Party is already running. He's the only one currently in the race. Can I tell you who would like this idea because there's a possibility if you get one of these old timers in again spring chickens compared to LeicesteR, but if you get somebody like, you know, Biden who is our world is Biden seventy seven years old, seventy seventy seventy nine games. There's a there is there's a there is a realistic chance that he doesn't make it to the end. K now he might he might be one of those guys that lives to be eighty five. But there is a realistic chance that you know, he just doesn't make it all the way through. So the person that's really. Into this is somebody like Biden and anybody not by Abeto anybody who is supporting Beto all they need to do is get him in as vice president. I think Beto would be a guy who would want to draft Lester l Wolff. Running running running mates. I think Lester might step down. He might step down after getting the, hey, I don't mean to be somebody. I mean, he's a picture put a picture up again of him. He is the picture of health. Yes. And. And but he probably make it to terms. Oh, I think he definitely would. Yeah. Oh, let's just go to one eight you know, he is technically. Way by the end. Yeah. I am of the opinion that he will never die. That he really yes. And his in the movement that Lester l Wolff is starting right here on this program today. Yeah. And that movement is that that movement will live live on way past Lester, and we should point out. This is a grassroots movement. Sure, we created all the campaign art for it. But it's only going to succeed if people really get behind the candidacy of Lester l Wolff in two thousand twenty people really need to get behind a tweet about it. Could we tweet the art workout right now? So you have access to that art work put up on Facebook. Because when you see them, you know, you think you yourself. This is ridiculous. Please. But when you see them, and you see the artwork you're like this could be the next candidate for the Democrats. And I think all the haters would say this is ridiculous. Only all the age of jobs. We all know, we all know, we live in a different world. It's not the same. And that's why the Democrats are giving you the option to really make radical change by electing an old white man because that is completely different than.

I thought maybe she, you know, make a change. Maybe we needed a change. But you know, when I heard them Wilson. Dr. Is it Wilson Trumper? He was voted for Trump and devoted around her. What does he want to exchange for her? Now, he said yesterday at the news conference that he said he has not asked Louis light last has not asked Lori Lightfoot for a single thing. That's Toni preckwinkle said he asked her for permission to appoint certain heads of agencies and committees at cetera and ask her to help him pay off her his campaign debt and exchange for his endorsement, he said he has not asked Lori Lightfoot for anything who do you believe? I don't know. Who would you believe? I mean, why would she wanted his endorsement I mean, everybody knows that it feel about Trump. I mean, there's bits bits bits pretty simple why she wants his endorsement he won fourteen wards. I mean that that that's reason enough to seek his endorsement if he if he can transfer any of his support in those fourteen African American Ward's. I mean, man that's worth it's weight and go let me tell you if he can travel that support I like like foot, but I gotta tell you that turned me off his into. Yeah. I got to start thinking about Perry. But look, I mean, I'm not gonna tell you how to vote, but I'm gonna tell you, you know, you can't judge Lightfoot by endorsements. You just can't you can't judge preckwinkle by endorsements. I mean, I think there's some endorsements does that mean more than others. But. I mean Wilson Wilson the unions back breaking winkle, most of the unions Lightfoot who won. I mean. Really Wilson who won fourteen wards backs Lightfoot? I don't know how they I don't know the balance between the two I know one thing I know that that both preckwinkle an Lightfoot after do considerably better in those wards were they didn't do very well in in the February election, they had they only gained about thirty percent of the electric. They got to convince the other seventy percent Volker them, and that's a tough job and five short weeks. That's what I got to say. Okay. Okay. Thank you. She ate it. Let's go to Matt man. What's up? Hey, matt. It's been a while. So yeah, I can give you the exact reason why there's a double standard. Okay. Aaron schock and Jesse Jackson junior. Jackson unions, black Aaron. That's that's that's my point. That's right. There's a double standard of Justice in this country. And there always has been racial inequality. And the Justice system. Go ahead. No. I mean, I just I don't know why we're surprised. It's got off Scot free. Well, some people are asking why good? The biggest surprise since they found out that Donald Trump actually have that meeting. Our? Donald Trump junior. Either one. Okay. They're all the same. Okay. Is is that there's always going to be double standard. Why are we surprised by this? There ought not to be a double standard. And and I think it's I think it's a fatalistic to say there's always going to be a double standard. I think that we get the right people in office. There can be change. That's what I believe. Maybe I've grown a little pessimistic under the current administration. Yeah. Well, I mean a lot of people have. Okay. Just everybody take care of yourself. Dick run for mayor Daley. Thanks have a good day. All right. Thanks. Thanks, man. We gotta take a break. Right. We we're running over on the break times. And let's take a break. Right back to your phone calls..

Last year or few me last time he ran for years ago. Well, three years ago, well, actually four years ago, the campaign started or maybe five years ago. You know, Joe Biden said that age was was a very very valid question and a very very valid criteria. And Bernie Sanders, I think in response to what Joe Biden said said, yes. Yes. It has to be part of the question has to be part of the equation has to be part of the evaluation. So announced today Bernie Sanders said well, I'm seventy seven years old. But don't make that. What you judge me on? And I think the difference is don't make that. The only. Thing that you you know, you used to evaluate don't make that the only criteria used for candidate. He said, you know, don't be. Judging people on sexual orientation or skin color or age. Seventy seven pretty darn old. I don't know off the top of my head. What's the oldest president we've ever elected to a first term? Seventy seven has got to be close. Same time. Bernie Sanders is not your average seventy seven year old at least. I I have a seventy seven year old Potter. Racehorse in their prime and. This healthiest my father is seventy seven years old. I got on the right like that.
