"Super bowl man. That's so it's like a because remember at the beginning not the beginning kind of like middle beginning. Your team was kind of beheads in early. He has and that is when you know that. It's just not the right team because as soon as we got the apples out of the office. It's our trajectory just went up so fast a big. The hard thing is like finding the bad apples. You know what i mean. Yeah and and determining. But i'm excited i'm excited skew. More details off air. Because i wanna see for when we're gonna document this startup retreat ashwin. Yes what is the deal with that. What's happening just so everybody can understand. Listen and i could just direct them for this episode. is it happening. it's gonna happen. It's gonna happen. I oh E- okay. Oh yes okay also wanted to pick your brain cow make t- think Do many people have already volunteered to sponsor so many we can be billionaire. Now they'll wait. I've literally put it out there with zero information. They're zero details about this this retreat. We already have people who are sponsoring in which is amazing like organizing that. I was even thinking this could really be like thirty minute thing where it's like. Hey guys we're at chili's that's it and then we got sponsors but fire festival. Everybody pays for their own meals to you guys got you get but i don't know yeah we got it. We got to talk about that in in brains from more you know various under normalcy. "So i recorded an episode on little black dress. Basically talked about like the things that i fear and goes into it. You should listen to it. Retold audience you and go should listen to it but yeah like so we are. We're gonna buy another location. And i'm gonna do a second startup and you know what all the things that i have learned from. The first location were just quitting. Make the second one that much better. So and i'm going to of course document the entire journey so man if you're in the middle of doing a startup let's you went together. The making of is going to be small and cotija now that yeah make news. How far is it from your actual practice in thirty five minutes. Oh cancel the is it. But i don't know what do you it's it's far enough that it pulls a completely different demographic but still close enough that it's driveable like you can listen to a podcast episode. Where are we going to document this on my ass. Black dress on the making us and i am. I'm so gung ho about like the documenting part. Because i feel like the first time around. I didn't do enough as far as like telling the actual concrete details like this is what i needed to secure funding. These were the forms that i filled out like. This is what the first bank told me like. You know all of those those steps but now that it's fresh my head. oh man it's so much content who let's do it. let's make it. Hey question about that. do you get annoyed. Still when you see people copying your name looming. They say invitations the greatest form. Father eric i guess it's annoying but i can't i mean i have to accept it it. It's it's amazing that people are finding inspiration in filing co and what we've built so i will take it as a compliment those wondering. What did somebody sue you for. The other one isn't illegal. Don't get the whole. I know technically. I could go after anybody who comes remotely close to my name but who we okay. Everybody listen we. We even saw one. That had the same spot in everything we were like. Are they for real. Happy got anyways. That's exciting super duper exciting. That you're gonna start your next. I don't wanna ask all the details yet. We can we start documenting that right mike. Now rue yom yom. Let's say okay so you need to teach me your amazing videography skills you know. I a gamble. 'cause i am. I'm going to do this right. I'm going to do the floor plan. And i'm gonna bring the video into like meetings with my contractor and with my designer like all the things it's going to be amazing. Denver gonna make a youtube channel on the whole process on my says we're gonna do a smiling core reality show. I like how you were like. All i want to podcast. But i'm opening up a second and then wanted to throw a startup But a it's a you were talking about. This won't point where you were like. I don't know if i want to be the the that one practice who just does is known in the community that's it or open up multiple locations And what made you decide to open a multiple occasions. honestly i just. I know that we've outgrown our space. And as much as i complain about your overhead and lake staff costs and everything just so expensive. I'm so proud of is just a culture that we've created in our office and i love my team. My team work so amazingly well together and the idea of giving my team in actual break room in actual space where they can relax inn where we can meet in have real meetings where they can sit down at the table together like a family. That's what i want. And this this building i was. I was with brian. Brian has a broker who was introduced to him by his partner and He showed me like this other location. Like i was looking just in folsom and mike. My plan was always to keep the original location. Because i love it. I love how cute are are smiling. Co office is so that would be like my quote unquote flagship location. And his broker. Minutes one day and we just peruse some properties and i also met with another broker and it just didn't work out but this one broker said like after he showed us one. Property said yeah. It's okay. I mean it's fine. And he said you know what else. I don't know if you're thinking about maybe a little further. But i do know this other location that you may wanna see. And as i entreat dryden. I said okay. So how can you see like killing. Go there right now at his. I let me check in. And then he ended up showing us that afternoon and michael. Oh my gosh. As soon as i saw it. I just said okay. Let's do this again. Wait are you going to get rid of your other than okay. No so we're going to have two locations and you know okay so may team. I just told them on tuesday this week. I just told them. Because because we just secured funding that long ago. And i didn't want them to get their hopes up and then funding false through or we fall out of contract right by told him on tuesday and they were so freaking ecstatic giddy and you know it was like the cutest response ever. That almost made me cry. They said so. Does that mean that we have to split up ma lake. How amazing is that right but a they love with each other so much that even though they're so excited at this growth on this new location thought of not all being together all the time with saddening. The.

"And we're like okay in so basically. She was finding an excuse to not come anymore. Yeah like i wish you would have just said you know. I'm sorry but. I really thought i could do this. Commute and i can't not like trying to make a up other excuses so so you let her go but yes so. She's she's not in office anymore than for a while. We just didn't have a third hygienists too. Now we do in. Our last one is amazing. came on board not too long ago but so far she's been awesome so you have. How many employees total there are fourteen of us. Have you lost anybody. Like like that after cova. There's i don't want to do some unemployment now. We have everybody in then hired more coveted for that one. They geneticist. Yeah yeah okay. Gotcha really quick side. Note reading the review from the guy. You were telling me you were talking about. Yeah yeah he he. He said he didn't miss any appointments on. My god says sash ally. i'd can we talk about. This can read it or no is totally against the hip he says like. I'm not gonna read aware word for because just in case but like he's the one who wrote the review so that's public record if you wanna read it. It's true because he says. I do agree however that it was time to go when i realized that business practices. There are to blame the customer when clearly it's the responsible under the iowa's four but when clearly it's the responsibility of the business to explain the policies which is actually the very first thing that the patient signs when they come in for the new patient exempt. It's like a two page like these are our policies for it. We would kindly ask you for x. Amount of time if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment it is so clearly stated there so i was gonna say like i write to him and be like you know what i mean reply. Can you do it on uber. No at a now. I feel like such a mafia dude. I don't even know i. Freeing yoke is like the bane of mine existence like they just hide all of your five star reviews. I have so many of us that are not currently recommended right so they won't show it and they're all the five star reviews that's awesome but but at least did you have an average of five on there though you know what i mean small company. So that's good so then since the last record what else is happening. I know you started a podcast. Know it's gonna be like a little bit sidetracked but like i feel like last time we spoke. You were super busy and and did you mention a second location. Plus one too because i all that and then i'm like oh man talk to you about that well since you brought it up. Thanks michael you mentioned it in the last one. No now knowing. Actually i did just so. We started a podcast in then on the latest episode. I actually just announced it but yeah we are only smokes. We've so these past four years have been amazing. Lake truly truly amazing. Lots of growing in a lot of great memories and i also think that i've just changed so much since the first time we recorded like. Remember how. i didn't wanna delegate. Anything i wanted to do all the social media. I wanted to seal the patient sake. It was a mimi meet. Had so many hands in all these different cookie jars and then. I didn't really know how i was going to react to letting another doctor seema patients. Will you did at one time. Remember and you handed. I hated it. I hated it because it was the wrong time like that was when i left for maternity leave so it was like i was forced to let someone help me but i wasn't ready mentally for that. Like my mindset was all different. Were you ready now or no. Were you still like Like how do you know when is the right time then. I think you have to just figure that out like your your minds you win. You are finally in this space where you can let go of control in your office when you are better at delegating when you hire amazing people and you trust that whatever task they're given they're actually completing it that i think is one of the first step but if you're if your idea of hiring in associated just like oh yeah you can use just want the associate there so you can play golf on friday like i think. That's i mean it works for some offices but then also there's offices are the ones that are gonna cherry pick like the cases right like i truly truly just want honesty if i could just podcast all the time would it's pretty. It's and you know. I like to talk. You know that no way remember. You've told me that. I could just like have a conversation with mice herself of even here so i think so. This whole like four years has been a complete evolution. It's been a. It's been a journey for me from wanting everything done exactly my way wanting it all to be about me me like i'm the brand. I'm the face now. I don't like it when i see on the schedule. Dr ashley only for a patient pop up. I'm like what is that. Why does that patient. Only wanna see me like i met him one time. Why are they requesting. Yeah like so so. I don't want that anymore. I want i want my amazing associates to flourish. I want them to be the new face. Like i don't want people to look for me. I wanna be hiding out in the corner. So i could just creaking recorded podcast and then plan are freaking startup retreat house. They're coming along all. It's not you know because we saw many things that i'm still trying to do right. You know how many people have asked me about it. Like hey i want. I want to do whatever i can all. I don't know it's it's all ashley like i don't know what to you. Wanna be a part of the planning obviously going to be there. Yeah yeah we'll be heard podcast sake before we get on this champion of retreats since you asked me about like where i'm at with the practice. Okay so now. Obviously we started off with just me. And i had three employees in the beginning And now i have fourteen of us and a wing. I don't know why. I get butterflies saying this out loud but i was deciding for a really long time whether or not i wanted to open another location and just over the weekend like So everything is still very much happening now. Because i just secured funding at the end of last week.

"And could you believe that an entirely empty and then seating a couple at such a large table that he could have easily placed this at okay so then after she saw. You guy told her that what happened. After that. she left to or now now. They ended up saying saying. I know that would have been amazing if everybody just walked out of this with the end of the story was going to happen having drop by. You know what's pretty cool like because of social media 'cause they put it on. I didn't put them on blast like whatever restaurant was because social media so many people ask me what restaurant that was because they were visiting maui within the next few weeks and i told them what happened. None of were going to eat there. Were like oh my gosh. I'm so glad. I ask 'cause. We almost made reservations there so it wasn't just me. It was like multiple reservations afterwards. That this stupid person thought that he could just like what is even the point of that. Like why would you treat people like that. I don't know maybe he just couldn't like understand. Some people were like my brain doesn't work that way ahead already set to this. I don't know only heat. No he just had a ridiculous power trip like he was like he wanted to prove a point. You couldn't beat the system by making a four reservation on its reservation in magically. Combine them like he taught us he taught us was. That was such a long tangent. I just had to get that off. My chest is what is what is. Roy's roy is the a nice establishment. I'm gonna go just to check it out to make sure i'm just kidding. Yeah right now. Can you make a reservation for three in. it's only us. And your wife leah Do that sucks man that really did you leave a review or no no. I didn't leave a review. Oh my gosh are you serious. I should've i hate leaving negative reviews. Because i i'm so triggered by them like it hurts my heart to get a not five-star reveal so vowed that i won't be there at person that karen who lives arena. Even though this one was well deserved. Have you gotten a negative reviews Share yeah jim abuse triggered by them that actually turn off my email notifications like have such a thing about always wanting everyone to be so wowed by us you know and it's it's tough ever since ever since cova. Did i feel like the expectations from people have become crazy. I like i. Don't i think that people have been quarantine for so long that they now have forgotten manners and patients and courtesy. It's like they might only there's only four people in the world that exists. Exactly exactly why. Have patients like come out rooming or you pay. She amount of families that we've dismissed after reopening from cova has skyrocketed and also the okay so the thing that i hate about negative reviews especially i mean the fact that we are. We're bound by hibba compliance. So a patient can basically live through their teeth about what happened right. Because if you even mentioned a fee of any gravity right like you can say oh you only twenty bucks and you actually collect right or you. Demand collect in that from the patient and they don't want to that could trigger a very nasty yelp review and people all the time ryan. But you can't you can't defend yourself. You can't talk about anything that happened with patients case. He can't talk about treatment. You can't you can't basically tell your side of the story. So that's what i hate about it like i feel like we're at the mercy of a crazy person who ends up leaving review. Who most likely we didn't even want in our practice to begin with like there's this one guy who left a review that he went on and on and on talking about how he is like this He he spent so much money at our office that he was a valued client and then all of a sudden we hit him with a fifty dollar or whatever on late late fee cancellation for doing that. You do that. Oh yes we've totally done that and that is what pissing everybody off but honestly when you're already so short staffed we went from three hygienists down to two in men. Now we had no no hygienists to cover right like nobody wants to work and then We just did not have anywhere to put these patients. So we're like. I'm so sorry please word like over staff. There's a national hygiene shortage. We please be patient with us. We're trying to get you in so we have basically a wait list of hundreds of people. Michael who the girls at the front our check marketing and making sure that we're trying to get them back on the books. It's that bad so the that bad understaffed her. or what. do you mean not anymore understaffed. but we were understaffed like we just hired another hygienist. But if i were to be like okay patient. Elena's schedule haven't merged or not. I just want to schedule. An appointment like monday could i. I think the next time that we are available is like months. I were booking into next year for new patients like someway march. It's crazy okay. Go back to the dismissing of the families. Then so you're dismissing families a time because you feel like they are mainly because of the cancellation fee. Now what no. They're just rude like everyone on. Our team is so gracious. And so kind and i mean i hear how they answer the phones. I hear how they talk to patients when they're dismissing them welcoming them into our office. We deserve to be treated like crap. Yes it's an awful situation in our schedule is crazy right now but we are trying to make things work and it's the people who have zero patients okay. So this guy guy on my gosh. Every time he was the variables. What's you made it up. Every bee doo shen. He may be a douche in. Yeah you'll be d- everyday douchen this guy. All my gosh. He had already late showed or or when he does show up. He's forty five minutes late always and men he knows showed or late cancelled so with less than twenty four hours. Notice five times michael fine so then we this last time i kid you not. We have.

"Hi stranger it's been it's been. It's been six months eight days to our. Since you've been anyways is very much. It's been over the last time we spoke. You started a new podcast. You have twins now own a mansion a shat did. When was the last time we reported it was what was it. Twenty twenty like in the middle of a shot at it was in the middle of like quality. Do i think the last time we recorded. My office was boarded up to remember the brian. Yes because the looting. How did i you ever have now. Thank goodness nothing ever happened but we were ready to is crazy. Dang that was less summer and then you spoke that you hired more people honestly. I think i saw a picture of like your team on instagram in i was like i don't recognize anybody would judy anymore. Oh my gosh did you. Did you see that we. We celebrated our four year anniversary. Oh yeah yeah. And i and i have. There are fourteen of us now. For convoys in so crazy how much is your overhead percentage wise like percentage weights. Would you say eighty percent like how much Two hundred percent it to. I'm just trying to hire everybody so that we can just party all the time. 'cause we throw some kinda crazy no our overhead like i feel like i should know these numbers you have to. You have to let me do some research before. I hit record. 'cause you know i don't know any of this off the top of my head. Is that awful to say as a business owner it's awful. I don't know i like. That's what i'm saying. Like i like your your way of everything you know. George and richard in that would be like you gotta know the analytics everything. But i'm kind of your your style like manages to make sure i got money in the bank. Said yeah no we. We have like fifty cents in the bank. We have like fifty cents day. Exit your overheads over eighty percent share. It's i think our overhead is seventy percent not too bad. So then what did you do for your for your anniversary. All in some is fun. Okay so i was debating whether or not i was going to take another limo to napa to bring the girls over but then our team is so big. And they're like you know maybe we can save that for our five year anniversary. All yes a good idea so because we have a new podcast. We have little black dress pod. Of course i was like well. Let's just go out to a nice steak house and the dress code is going to be little black dresses and that was our theme. So i took the entire team to fancy steak house in midtown sacramento and we had such a nice dinner in cocktails in after words after dinner. Omegas case the You would think that a really nice restaurant would be like crank in the a c. Well okay. I think they probably were. They sat our party right next to the bar. Which typically if you have a small group you wanna have like a more private dining experience in towards the back of the restaurant which they did not so and the bar they had joe rogan. Joe rogan was performing at at the state chart. Ask you saw him no. I didn't see him okay. So where where. The the the kings play where it's called doco which is downtown commons. So the steakhouse is inside of the kempton. Boutique hotel it's called the sawyer. So it's it's shares the plaza with the arena thousands and thousands of people so the bar to the restaurant typically. They haven't closed so that they could only serve the people inside the restaurant for the event. I'm thinking they wanted to capitalize on the fact that there are a lot of people wanting to get wasted right before they go see joe rogan so they had the there. There are those Ah glass store. It almost looks like a garage type of door that will swing up also so it was nice it would have been nice except it was freaking balls hot outside so all of us ladies are in our super nice black dresses or makeup is done are hairs did and we are freaking soweto To we asked the manager multiple times. Hey can you like crank. The ac in they did and you would feel the a coming for a little bit but because we're right next to the open bar so yeah we were like fanning ourselves while we were eating revived like this is not is not sexy enemy Girls they have my words. Smells like we were. We were so hot that the seats are made of leather off. Speaking of freaking seats are like this is not cute. I know that women aren't supposed to sweat a man. We were like like literally peeling ourselves off of these chairs and you know like in the age of covert right like nobody wants to work and the restaurants are still trying to see all of these patrons because they've been shut down all the businesses are just trying to survive. Service was slow. Were now sweating our asses off and we literally like literally and they entire dinner was. We're we we almost ran late for our next reservation. Which after dinner we planned on going to the rooftop bar which which we did it's called the revival at the sawyer. It's so nice you'll see downtown sacramento all the lights. And then there's this huge pool in the middle of the rooftop bar and just ample seating. there was just so nice to connect with the girls in just talk outside of the office so that was our four year anniversary is awesome blows the risk. The i was the first restaurant is echo in rig. They didn't have like good a happening. Like knows it. The ac was fine. It was only because we were sitting right next to the bar. And the bar had their their florida's ceiling windows open the outside people. Yes so the line to get drinks. Just outside of the restaurant was so long. Said what the hell. Why can't we sit in the back. You ask a matter though. No do but who. Who does that. Who puts a party of fourteen or thirteen like right in the front.

"But really stop in and congratulate yourself because every stage that you're in is always a hard stage if that makes sense like when i when i first opened i just wanted to get x. Amount of patients. I just wanted to hit these numbers for my first. And i never celebrated the fact that my overhead was still low because my team was small. And and all of that and the now that i'm in this stage i'm trying to think of okay. Do i get another location. Do i build again. Because we're at capacity. But i also think like oh shoot. My payroll is amount every two weeks. My overhead is out of control like we tend to never really be happy where we're at and And it's important just to appreciate it for what it is every every every stage that we're in we should celebrate the milestones that have that we've achieved so that is my one. I guess that would be my my thoughts. were today. yeah what elebrate have you thought about how far you yes i have and it's it really is. I mean it's been amazing. Like colin texted. A group picture of our last baby shower. So one of my girls is leaving Today your last day for maternity leave and then collins texted i. She's like whoa our last maternity. Our last baby shower was for bianca which was two years ago and there were five of us in the photo and now there are fourteen of us in through. Yeah you you've thought about it right like how far you've grown like ashley's grown right not so much smaller co but you. Yes and i'm. I'm giving myself more freedom and flexibility to just do a lot less and be happy with doing a lot less because it's not always about the next big thing we should be content with where we're at my i think Do you feel like that's what. When did you start seeing that recently. When i started therapy which was a skier. Oh really so during the we're still technically during in the pandemic but cove. Ed i think covert really forced us to think about what we want in life and what was making us happy in what was causing a stress. It was a really good magnify here and during covid. When i really thought that mike. Hey i don't wanna be practicing so much. I only want to do what i wanna do. And that. that was my first decision to hire other dogs. Yeah the truman like to be content satisfied to know when there's enough more isn't always better. You know what. I mean in a lot of times. That's the easiest thing to do. We tend to try to throw more at a problem and hopefully it gets fixed right. Whether it's more money more employees more whatever right ran like why is it not fixed but in order to figure that out you have to do a lot of analyzing yeah absolutely and that's hard to analyzing you know what i mean. 'cause then you don't want to blame yourself either even though it probably might be your fault a lot of the times you know. That's good man. That's really really good. Awesome so with that being said ashley. I don't know where we're going to record again. Maybe next week maybe the following week. No hitter miss. I know but If anything siamese out thanks guys for listening to a very inconsistent episode of the making of yeah let us know what you want to hear in terms of smiling co if you want any more details join our group. "Just say you did have the time and you started reading a book. Could you even do that or eventually. Would you be like i'm gonna grow something else. Now i'm gonna make something happen. You know what. I mean right. I know my mind always like wanders to the next thing you know like. I don't know that's such a good question. And on the other podcasts. That i do george like one of the questions was like. What's your idea of success in like. When is it enough i. I don't know 'cause it's so interesting seeing where we've come these past three years like if you would have told me that three years from now you're going to be in a very. You'll have a very large team you'll have to doctors. You'll be thinking about your next location. I would have said. There's no way like not not in our area not in our demographics. I can't imagine that kind of growth that fast. So it's i really haven't allowed myself the opportunity to sit in reflect on on how far we've come which i think i told you. I'm like seeing a therapist and it's been one of one of the best decisions you told me this ever any. Are you being facetious. I can't tell. I'm no i'm serious. One hundred percent an time. We should have been talking about everything you've been talking about what therapists and now. Oh my gosh. Yeah it's it's been so it's been so nice to have an hour to talk to. I mean she's not a stranger anymore. But just someone who who doesn't really know anyone or who doesn't know anyone in my life. And i can just have a conversation where don't feel the need to sugar coat or like worry about being judged. It's like such a safe zone to just speak your mind. Which has been amazing and for her. She's she's been on almost like a life coach. I would say like she asks me a lot of questions like very similar to what you're asking me now. Like where would you see yourself and How much alone time are you devoting to yourself i. When was the last time you sat and just thought about way you've come and all of that. So yeah it's it's been a lot of introspection which has been so nice and I think it's been such a. It's been such a pivotal role in me letting go of smile ago. Not that i'm letting letting go but you know me like before i. I had to have my hands in every cookie jar. And now it's like. I didn't really know how i would respond with. Having two other dogs seeing my patients and the first time i had an associate i was not ready for that. I was not ready to share. I wasn't ready to have her. Takeover might treatment plans. Everything was mimi like. This is what i diagnosed. I should be doing this. And it's a mindset shift when you hire other doctors and they're you know producing in making money off of case acceptances that you have closed. And now i want them to be closing all the cases i want them to be successful because if they are then it's less stress on me and now because i have judean colin running the show. They don't even tell me when problems are arising. They've just figure it out. It's been like amazing to not know every single detail that's happening my practice. Yeah you had that honestly that's I think it's amazing now like when you started. I think that that can be tough right like. Why don't you tell me why what the heck i should know everything right and then i remember when you was cody Cody when you came back and things were kind of running smoothly but differently for you. You're like what the heck is happening. And you kind of flipped out. You know what i mean. And i don't blame you 'cause like i would've frigging toward the heck you so that's a whole thing man like you even. How do you even do that. How do you even. What really quick. Like if you're right like one of the best things anyone can have that many people hardly anyone doesn't have is enough right when to say like this is enough. I have enough and w- to find that your therapist is right like you literally have to self reflecting and be alone with yourself and think about these things like you never get accustomed to how quickly things can grow. You'd never do and so to take the time to really hone in on. That is serene kind of nice. But how did you change your mindset to to do that to not micromanage like. I'm sure everybody wants no. But i just really want to know too. How did they get there. How did i to to say like. Oh my gosh. Why didn't you guys tell me about this problem that happened. You know what i mean and and to know that maybe it didn't get covered the way you wanted it to get cover but it got covered that make sense. Yes i think a lot of it is just. I have so much trust in collin. Judy i have no doubt that whatever they say they're gonna do they do it themselves and that was the biggest thing like. I can't even tell you how important that is as the practice owner to have your right hand man or woman next to you because it was it was hard it was. It's extremely hard to relinquish control. But that's one of the levels of leadership because he can't do it all. You can't do it all alone and it is just so nice. It's such a breath of fresh air to not be involved in all the day to day minute. That was and it's so interesting because my personality type. I'm not good with details. Like i'm not an integrator. I don't do checklists and and follows through unfortunately like my goal is visionary so it didn't make sense for me know all the details if i'm not gonna do anything about it anyways so would kind of have to know the type of personality. You are all absolutely no what we are usually if you're doing a startup if you're opening your own business you're usually the visionary of the practice i think it's very rare to have a visionary who is also an integrator. Yeah so judy balances me. Colin bounces me. I think i think almost everyone in my office is not like me. Good yeah i'll man. Okay let's really good dude. This has been i know. You gotta leaps in so. This has been really good episode. I feel like there's a lot. There's so much in your life happening right now that it's exciting. You know but anything else. You wanted to mention i. I will say that whatever stage you're at it really is important to really. Just think about how far you've come and i know it sounds so cliche and we're always trying to move to the next great thing.

"The aspect of it but the the debate here is in in your mind is doing this. Or i mean pulling the trigger on this or dealing with the debt or it's or it's just a small office taking less patients. Yeah so what. Why would you do that one doing the small office. Why did that one. Why is that an option. Because it's less stressful. I i mean. I don't have to worry about increasing my debt load And we can maintain profitability if we just dropped a lower paying insurances. It just seems like less stressful to. I want you wanna do. Because it's less stressful. Yeah and the other one you wanna do because it increases our capacity to grow okay so the other one you wanna do. Because it's i feel like it's kinda like what you want but it's it's harder i think either way you look at it. It's harder because if we eventually take ourselves out of insurances like it scares me to think that we're going to be losing patients. If we're out of network with their plans so then let me ask you what does small and co need right now to be better. I think we need more space more parking. Okay space bar and the guy next to you has moved out right now he built. He built his office. I think they're open now. I sell cars parked in his property. Might god it's been like what a decade he's barely open now generally. yeah basically. Why shouldn't be like the number one fan of this podcast now. He's listening stuff. Okay so then you think you need more space to be better right. I would like more space. Yeah that's it. That's the only issue. I think our our customer service is amazing. If we had more space would just feel like less cramped. We have so many people in our little space. And i barely have a break room. You saw it and we have no parking. But i think from a patient perspective. I think i have an amazing team. A i can't imagine having anything else change when it comes to that. Okay so everything you've been telling me about right like the patient. The business what they needed to be better and things like that which is great right. Let me like you're not now. Let's get a little selfish year. What do you want. Where do you see yourself in a happy place in happy mode. Maybe ten years from now or five. I mean like honestly like realistically like you know. Let's just say like ten years from now. What do you want not so much thinking of the patients. Because you've you've you know the patients are taken care of right now as we speak as we're doing this interview your patients are being taken care of. So what do you want. I want to practice. Clinical dentistry may be two days a week. Only focused on the pas. Medics and invis- line and i would love to be a fee for service practice where we're getting the fees that i believe we deserve and i want to. I want patients who value what we do and know our worst. Okay that's the business side personalize what do you want. I want to take a step back from the practice. Know that it doesn't need me. I can run without me. You're still talking business. Actually what do you mean personal side personal side like personally what you want like. Do you want a you know what i want to. I don't know like some people are like. I want to make a family or i want. You know what i mean. Look like that at all personally. I want to take more vacations. No i really do. Who doesn't want to you know what i mean like. I'm now i want to I wanna feel i. I just wanted to be healthier focus on my health. I want to sit and read a book an uninterrupted like me time so i just one more time to space out and think about what i want. Okay so one when you when you think about you right which is good because like without you. Obviously none of this would happen. I wouldn't even be interviewing the you know what i mean. Nothing nothing smaller cohen. And be here right so think about it. Everything you said for. You is the small fee for service or boutique type of practice. That you know what. I mean that you were you. Drop insurance As you take on more. I guess high quality patients. And then you're like you have more time to yourself it. It's it's there when you think about the business you think about growth and you're like okay. I need to make more space more things more all these things now in ten years. When you're thinking about this let's say you went with the growth side of it. You decided to open up another thing. Do you think you finally be able to satisfy your personal accomplishment. Like i me like i just want to relax to more vacations. You know what i mean and do all these things if you were to do the other thing like have another practice grow more and things like that or now. I think as long as i have a team in place setup yes to the team is right if the team is there and if the systems are in place in yes but i mean it's always harder than more you you have to manage eight to manage in tartu losing change in transition and all that stuff the bigger you get so honestly like i don't know man to me and i know listeners can tell me and be like michael a stupid. You're wrong to me. It sounds like you kind of want. you're leaving a little bit more towards the you know what i mean like the fee for service type. I don't know. I don't know it sounds a little bit like that like but at the same time. You gotta the entrepreneur side where you to could you even could you even just.

"For the year. Right yeah like our. Our collections have been pretty consistent about the two hundred k. Okay okay. that's good so then you you've done the numbers and everything like that right and you're like okay. We can bring on someone else. Yeah well honestly. I'm not a numbers person as you know. I just higher in highland hire as many people as well no but We were pretty high volume now and And i also know that. We're in grossman. And i'm not su- yeah so one of our girls is going out on maternity leave. Actually today's her last day. So having an extra set of hands in the back i think will be less stressful. I think that's the predominant reason why looking for another assistant got okay. And so how do you even bring like. How do you even think about that. The clinical manager thing like. Where does that come from. How does that look if somebody's like he would. I need a clinical manager now while all of our different providers because it's not just the docs and the genesis i also to e of tooth so they're essentially their own provider in the scheduling. Because they're able to handle a lot. Were we're running so many columns of patients. And if i don't have a dedicated person just managing that aspect managing back office. Everything's going to slip through the cracks because you can't always just be in people's mouths and expect the day to be organized and run swiftly so collins main role now instead of being so much chair side. She's taking a step back in an her goal is to organize organiz back to make sure everything's running smoothly. Basically right yes. Gotcha pretty cool to have something like that. And then judy her and judy kind of like oversee like the team leaders right. They're the ones who gets and then right now. How many sincere in growth mode. What are your patients looking like a month right now. You patients We've had anywhere between sixty to eighty six new patients You're gone. It's going good at growing and we're not. We're not doing any marketing. Which is kind of crazy. I mean we haven't really ever done marketing. In fact i'm trying to figure out how to get us out of insurances planning to go a whole well best the plan like i really want to remove myself as an in network provider because one that will make it will definitely fill the associates schedule. More and to like i really. I only want a dentistry. That i wanna do like. I don't wanna. I just wanna do the cosmetic cases in like the full mouse we have cases. How many would you say you guys. You have a like a month. Those cases only have currently like about one case a week which is awesome. That's all. I wanna do what you said you wanted to do. Remember that you're like. I just wanted to dude. You're exactly at where you wanted to be at one point. Remember your whole team. Yeah be happier. Ash is getting no. But that's really really cool like i remember in. I think it was a lhasa. The last before that you were looking at a bigger place to have you found not always looking for a bigger place. Oh man you haven't found it then. No i haven't in. Brian always keeps telling me like you need to figure out what you wanna do. Like is your goal to manage to locations and have an even larger team or is goal to figure out how to remove yourself from the equation. Figure out how to drop insurances and just have a smaller smaller staff and and less less patients coming through the door but still maintain profitability. So i go back and forth depending on the hour that you asked me I really do. And i really do go back and forth between do i increased my hours because i wanna i wanna see more patients again because now i have all this wealth of knowledge in my head that i'm not utilizing more like we just want to focus more on the business in spend more time with my kids. What what do you feel like. You're leaning more towards in in those decisions. I in my head. I really do want a second location and i want the second location to be a bigger location. Because i want my general dentistry to be done there. And i want to use my first location as my smile boutique with because merit a cosmetics. And then hopefully we start incorporating fillers in both talks and i wanna photo studio and yeah so. That's what i want okay. So that's right now. That's what you're you really want right. That's the main thing you want right. Now that's why don't you do that. Well good question. I had looked at buildings and in my area. Buildings are ridiculously scarce. Which makes them ridiculously. Expensive under is something on the market. The last place. I looked at it was about. It was okay. So it's a single stand. Single is a free standing building and it has tenants in the the entire property. Is i believe it's eighty six hundred square feet but i wouldn't occupy all of it. It would only be half of it but the way it set up is we would have to move one of the tenants. Over in order to make a cohesive four thousand square feet otherwise it would be like diagonal from each other which isn't a good workflow. And and so i'm looking at purchasing the building but the building like the purchase price was like i think they were asking two point five two point six and that does not include actually building out a dental office. So you'll know that building a dental office is not cheap so that's my hesitation Because do i really want to increase my dad again. Take.

Brian four thousand square feet sixty today eighty six hundred square feet Ash first location both about one case a week Single second location single stand two hundred k. one two eighty six new patients one point one of girls half

"Differently in your practice. Now it's amazing to me. How just even a chip in the front two tells a big story. I is this person. Constricted how how are they are they. Are they grinding at night. Are they even a grinder. What what got this person tab where they are and before like i'm i'm and planning i know how important the bite is. But not to this level not to the extent and even tackling cosmetic cases like you sink. Like if a person isn't happy with their smile. I can just put beneath errors on anyone and it'll be okay and now it's like well do you have have to open the by you. Have to open the vertical. Do you have to change the faisal position. Like there's so many things that i'm considering now that i just you just don't know what you don't and i didn't know a lot. How so. what does this increase when it comes to like the bottom line or urges what increase in total like do you think. This helps with closing cases with Like emotional currency or or just financially. Like you know what i mean. Oh my gosh now we can diagnose more because of this or or what is with. I would say all of the above But most importantly it changes your confidence. And when you're a more confident doc you that that comes across your patients like your patients can sense whether or not you can take on their case in confidence. Is everything to just the way we present our treatment plan the way we communicate our beliefs with our patients. So i would say that's huge. I saw interestingly enough. I just had this discussion with judy in collin now that they have all this information in my head is calling someone you nick. Colin is not new. She's better with wing for over two years. She's now might clinical manager. So judy is my office. Manager comes my clinical manager so collins era of everything in the back like she runs the schedule she tells people were to go. She's doing my invis- line with me. She's ordering guess she should. She handles everything that i need for her to do in the back. But i was just having this discussion with them. How i've invested all this time and energy and money in zoo taking courses but at the same time i've taken a step back from seeing new patients because i want my associates to thrive so i've limited my schedule so i don't know if i told you but i'm pretty much clinical three days a week and So mondays. I'm there from seven to one tuesdays wednesdays and they're from seven to three and I have not done an exam really Because i want my associates to get to know our patients so that they will fill their schedules. So yeah it's been tough. Like how do i balance that. How do i balance wanting to do The exams and and you know potentially treatment plan these bigger cases. But i don't. I don't want patients to meet me and then want to stay with me if they're doing crown and bridge and we're not really doing a bigger south when they could be meeting with one of my amazing associates. So it's like a learning curve a show. Gotcha okay so then. Men really quick rewind a little bit. I didn't even know the clinical manager. How many employees do you have now. I'd believe there are fifteen of us. O okay fifty. How many associates associate Docs total lipscomb. So there's three doctors. There are five assistants Eight and i have three front and three hygienist thirteen fourteen fourteen. And i'm currently looking for another assistant actually looking for an can i ask you it a month. How much are you are you pulling in Like actual numbers worries. Yeah you can give me a range. Some between one in a million. Oh so so specific. Thank you for that. I appreciate a tighter range. Kimia tighter range we are. We're on track. I'll just tell you we're.

fifteen Colin fifty collin Eight three doctors five assistants three mondays over two years a million thirteen fourteen fourteen wednesdays three front three days a week seven two a month tuesdays Kimia

"Guys recording now. So how's it going. Hey good good. Life is good. Can't complain right before this. We didn't know you. How much more minutes do you have left. No i'm i'm good for a bit. We can record for our okay. Okay so really quick. We're what's life like right now for you on your end. Well i've been traveling back and forth to seattle which is not a state right. Michael i had to tell you that i can't believe you. State your like mike. Whatever seattle seahawks like that ashley. Cheese sometimes been travelling back and forth to seattle taking courses at koi centered. You know police heard how. I've heard about the talking about that. How is that. It's amazing so choice. John choice is pretty much. One of the godfathers of industry. I feel like he and speer and christianson they have set the stage for everything else to come with full mouth rehabs and you know just comprehensive diagnosing and the i've always want so i i actually heard about coys a few years back from one of the docs. I used to work with and He said like it's my. It's my goal to eventually take a choice curriculum. And i was like. Oh what's that and he basically told me And it's not cheap like one courses channel seven grand of a yes repackage or just like. Oh no. that's just for one course. Yeah so it's it's a significant financial investment and it's a significant time investment. Like the first course of. I took a week long course in treatment planning inclusion. And you're there you The course starts at seven o'clock. Am on the dot and in finishes at six pm every day And you break for an hour for lunch. But it's it's it's a long eleven. Our day in the first course was monday through friday. And since then i've taken two more courses and it it really. It's like a game changer. I don't i don't look at the mouth the same treatment. Plan the same So you've taken three courses in total three courses in the past. Three months took thirty thousand. Well the other courses that i've taken. They haven't been a week long so the last one i took was Thursday through saturday and that one was seven. Thousand six thousand. I forget i try not to look too hard at at the numbers because yeah it'll i mean it's an investment but it's been amazing. Does something always really respected you about. I remember when we would go to like events Your oil go to events back in the days. And i remember like you know some people would come out. We'd mess around like whoops some podcast. You're always paying attention all the time. Twenty four seven when there was a break. You're like it's lunchtime. I have time to do a podcast. And then we can go back in. You're always paying attention. And i was like ashley not all fun and games. She has oh. I'm actually a nerd. Like i love this stuff. So then what were the courses you took four corner so the first one was basically the intro to treatment planning and on how we do facially generated treatment plans which is basically how do you. How do you know where to put the length of the teen. How do you know what position in the in the mouth. How do you know if you need to open up. The bite changed the by and the processes like the risk factors involved in treatment planning that particular person and then the second one i took was perreault which was a lot of hands on crown. Lengthening yeah it was. It was really cool. Even suturing we dead and then this past the last one i took was just a deep dive into advanced inclusion. So now that you know that you want to change the vertical or change. The bite like why. What did this person do to get to this place in life like. Why is there. Where why is there chips in the you. Know in the enamel all of that stuff and then we also We also did like partner work with evaluating tam j. so That load tests immobilization tasks like what's your maximum opening. How how far can you move laterally Yeah it's been so nice like seeing this whole other side of dentistry. It wasn't anything that i had learned donald school or even residency for that matter. I feel like i'm a different dentist now is why like. Why is this so so different now because his philosophy so all of what he teaches is evidence based so a meaning. They are his reading research. Research papers i think. He says he reads twenty eight journals a month just to stay on top of a wide. It's crazy So quick who is this again. John cleese john kosher. Okay so if john were to happen to john right would it continue because it or does. It depend on him when when he's learning it's it's mostly him out ninety percent him and that's actually another reason. Why i i really wanted to take curriculum versus spear because i know spirit is really big and but he he sold spear education. And when you go to a course it isn't spear you're getting anymore some one of the adjunct faculty not to say that. They're not as amazing sphere but how many times in our lifetime can be taught by the person who is the godfather like one of the godfathers dentistry. And i i don't know how old courses but i certainly wanna finish before he calls it quits after my. He's that old he's that old him. Well he's been in practice. He's been teaching. He's been in the industry for forty plus years man so he knows time. Yeah that's good. There's a lot of experience behind that. So then these courses have taught you. What are you seeing. How are you doing things.

"Didn't tell him anything. Catchily he told me and he described the person. I she really wants. What sort of person washy she. She was a very nice person. She worked here for quite a while we. We'll go tom very well together and she was very happy to work. When did she die at twelve months on the nineteenth of may now. That was the twist. Yes i was walking this little psychic choppy before what he's like and i knew who it is bought. There's a worker at the firm hussein yet. Described to eighty. She died twelve months ago and we all got on like a house on fire. It does make you think. Why would this be the president. Who's freaking out. Especially if she's now strong she can form this ice wall and make people freeze at the spot but for me that excellent i particular firsthand anecdotal evidence of a medium. Getting it right and a genuine haunting. Do you believe in ghosts. And do you believe that. It is her who's haunting factory. I didn't and in fact. I've really laughed and joked about it but as mr higginson described the person to me. I'm thinking again. So they go that. Ladies and gentlemen is the ghost of the pottery ghost in stoke-on-trent and mr higginson doing everyone a favor the paranormal community by combating someone from skeptic to believer by literally saying no it is. Your former friend. Didn't give a name like your former friend. Yes you dad. Twelve months ago is around fifty five sixty s very happy person but now she goes. I'm building walls of ice. And making all freeze to the spot. Because secretly she hated you all yes. Isn't that amazing though fantastic. So that concludes are looking at workplaces in the nine hundred seventy s which featured posts and were featured on television. Back in the day and like. I say i'm possibly going to do like if you youtube videos or a series of about ten minutes long just with what. You've had there but with visuals because you have missed out on so much comedy. Due to these interviews you know just being audio not being up to see the full fact because some of them are just laugh out loud like the some haircuts doing the rounds in the seventies there that make you fall off your chair and so much think. I'm going to do that myself. There's one guy he's got like a line of gray going round his hair. You don't see this days. It's like he's died from the bottom up to this line and then left the slime and died the rest and genuinely thinking. I might do this. it looks like uncle fester. That's amazing. anyway. Why are we all here. Why we all at the end of the show wife. So many people skip the entire episode. Just to get to this point. You may ask well. That's because we're about to spin the magical wheel of ishra. Yes the wheel of justice to find out. Just who is the winner of assigned book. Well let's click that wheel and find out. I've now got the wheel or recording at the same time or no monopoly. The recording this video at the same time as i'm doing the patriot episode so that we can all check this legit and we can do all sorts of stuff anyway. Amount to click spin on the wheel. I'm clicking spin oats making a sound. Let's see who's who's in the book it's corinne wilson. We have a winner. Well dan corinne you have yourself assigned book of the book that were released boop boop boop boop book the we need to talk about about books the we need to talk about ghosts through listen to go stories on kareem wilson. Well dan corinne so there you go. Thank you ever taken part. We'll be doing another quiz in a couple of weeks time and yet that's end of the episode. Make sure that you all look after yourself. "Going to make any difference mine. I'm hoping to gone but then again he's been a good friend to us because it's become fond impossible. Everyone is being quantitive. Untreated it i just but now the jokes gone. Say what we're going to do now. I don't talk about a mixed message so well. Everyone likes him. As part of the family you know and he he makes everyone feel good rarely so we got an exorcist then to get rid of him but that was sad because if he's lomb we all treated them as a joke mr best it we teach them as a bit of joke and now the jokes gone. So we'll have to employ someone with sense of humor so i don't know i don't know bbut was a wonderful little tale that in your knitwear factory amazing. Let's have horn more. This one is. I think it's the oldest of the lot. This is one thousand nine hundred seventy two and a pottery warehouse in stoke-on-trent it is so let's see what this has got to offer footsteps weird. I i came the full length of cardiff. They stopped the car and we sort of shadow. Dark shadow then. The footsteps continued won. The footsteps stuffed. It was then the run and for me sell to this. What was there or any net. New noordin couldn't continue because it seems audit this block of ice. I would stone cold and for few seconds. I just couldn't move now. I don't know about you but thought genuinely gives me shivers by as one of the best little descriptions of place ghost on what the hell is this block of ice the into you know you just couldn't move. This is amazing in terms of an anecdotal first-person anecdotal ghost experience albeit from nine hundred. Seventy two i mean. How do you can't mistake that it's not called the art phenomenon is it. You run into an icy cold and being able to move pasta amazing so then we hear from her friend who stood next to. What about you mrs. How did you feel same. As i say i couldn't move. I just couldn't do anything to what you rooted to. The spot couldn't move no carry-on working here now. All you're going to give jobs. They can late taught every day or forty two p slack missing him said yes we continue but if we thought we got to see to hear no. Isn't that interesting. it's people going on record. I mean you. I wouldn't do that now if somebody said to me. If this on tape if this changes in your workplace will you leave. If it doesn't change. Sorry i wouldn't say yeah i'm gonna leave. I'm gonna leave if that out. Because i wouldn't want the managers seeing it and being like. Oh my god this feller gonna leave. If we don't pull our weight. I wouldn't do it now. In two thousand and twenty one this is nine hundred. Seventy two where you could get sucked at the drop of a hat for nothin' full in some way and these ladies are on tape for the news report going. Yeah if you don't get rid of the ghost. We're not going to work here anymore. It's amazing it's such a good story. Where the comedy comes into this is what about to hear from a guy who's a self professed medium and he's the most well-spoken english medium dressed full in seventies finery that you could imagine. Listen to these fantastic higginson. What have you found out today. When i first came coming along i was not so sure. We're gonna be a genuine manifestation because minute brought are to refined the rally figment of the imagination. Where you can pay some calls or natural means. it's makes it was not quite genuine. But when i got here I was aware That certainly was a manifestation. It was not a sort of evil thing you to some of someone certainly wanted to communicate and i had tried to impress people that she was here. But she's a lady that worked here on us pulsed away and i knew who to so they share his very well spare can man bit of a cad. He does now. He's got down into the nitty gritty. He's just said there and he has a big smile on his face when he says this he says quite clearly. I think we can all agree. I know who it is. I know who it is he. Now let's see. I don't know entirely toll name but i do know that It's elated. At worked his pasta with pulse. Very very suddenly. I mean i could ever stopping the dark. That was a former employee. Generally means i wouldn't be doing a big grin again. I knew who had tears really. Who is it. I i don't know with the name i know. They used to care and they died very suddenly. Most people die very suddenly these days. No one goes well. He was shot in the leg and he bled out on the floor over the course of three hours. It's most people. Death is thing isn't it rarely anyway. I'm probably being a bit facetious with them. Let's see what more this very very polish medium has to say and Was a happy person and while roundabout fifty five to To sixty advantage but this is the twentieth century. Can you honestly expect people to still going believing in ghost in this day and age. Now there's a question and a half isn't it. I mean fabulously the journalist because he could have very easily been like. Whoa done up to the nines. You're clearly very icon question. What you do for a living of course but it didn't he was like don't you think it'd be silly to believe guests and this answer is actually very good very good. Well i think we perhaps believe not in actual guests but the man survives the grave because the too many of us that it's true and things over three million people in great britain believing it There must be something in it and of course there is. Well done mr bosch psychic. I do like that answer. Not necessarily the well. We don't necessarily believe in ghosts part. But i do like that. We believe that man survived the grave. very good or woman. Of course sexist. Little boy in the seventies ammonia. You confirmed what mr higginson fold. What did you tell him. I.

"Yes yes that's right This guy thinks scary than the exorcist would be. If selectors pops into the exorcist film will remove the demon possessing reagan and the student activism and poltergeist activity to the nth degree people being mad by demonic forces will remove all of our and instead the exorcist will be a few footsteps few milk bottles clanging and of course the toilet flush. I think we can all agree. These this activity here does make the acussed. Look like mickey mouse being facetious on it. But it did over satellite disney. Let's be honest okay. Anyway now he gets a one of the employees stories. And i like the employees stories because the it seems to be women in these little interviews they seem to be very authentic and the men. Just be well. I don't believe in it's all you know. As long as you've got right and closing down the number bothered brennan way. This is one of the employees stories. And i had a footsteps behind me. How can i stop knows nothing. Nobody there and that kind of that. Continue to up to the top of the stairs so stood for me to you now and then only automated some of the things that i had had to and i thought who could get pushed down the stairs headmaster little miniature to and then i felt a presence suspect somebody quite close to me. Didn't touch me. And then i just started downstairs and i look back again. But they're still. I didn't say anyone until now what you will see. She's a lovely lady and what you will see when the video thing together is when the bit where she says. I could be thrown down the stairs. She as a massive grin on her face like she was really disappointed. Really excited to the fact that she could have been thrown on the stairs. It's like look could it be thrown downstairs thought ground dear then i'll insult the devil himself and see if you'll choke me downstairs full lami working day. Now what you'll hear next is this guy's clear obsession with absolute paranoia and fear about toilet flushes ereli. Most because he's already said that. That makes it scary than the exorcist. The fact that the toilet worst and he just can't let it go other people talked about. Laboratories flushing face when i opened warm. This boy must have Came in here on the scene plus and plus catches stuff on the floor. The party like this on the pane of glass which was across in there. Which is you could see. Very bigness has been smashed across the core. Here it would have to fall down there. You'd expect to just all this was out with everything cleared out of here onto the floor now but anywhere else that goes into this office. I will say they're stuck. I was talking there. He seems genuine and he seems genuinely scared. It's like he's a. He looks like a caretaker a guy and he's clearly in his takes office and is gonna look up fearing faced when the guy says like can anyone else get any and he's like no just many he looks genuinely scared so he's an bit difficult to make out what he'd be saying there. I think party was accents. Part because of the recording equipment in the seventies bought yeah. He's quite convincing. If being perfectly honest now you're going to hear one of the bosses now and talk about someone trying to give like an absolute corporates answer to xs zoom questions. It's amazing listen to this administration to exercise this year. I understand the same. We have a problem that of course that we probably got about fifteen religion the factory. So do we get fifty ministers in. Did we get all the religions to agree on one minister to the exercising the more corporate answer to the paranormal. It's amazing i mean we got an place all the time not to do with exorcisms but it's kind of like can i take days holy next week. Well you can. But there's a lot of people want today's holy if you have to give you a day's holiday then give everyone a day's holiday and therefore what you want to do. Ask everyone if they can all agree. Who should have the day's holiday that's basically what he's gone there with the paranormal. So hats off to that. Ceo of that company there fantastic okay. Let's delve back into the seventies yet. Another interview okay. So next we're going to a knitwear factory in nineteen seventy three years now unlike the swimming pool guy. Who's like i'm going to star in this from. Start to finish in my coffee in my swimming costume baby this one just jumps inventive with staff and stuff however it does have one of the greatest former owners of the companies names. Listen out for it. It will be obvious when it comes on. 'cause i'm going to jump in and mention it but it's amazing anyway. This is one of the employees stories thrill one morning about. What's right into the factor. I'm ooh talking about to sell and one of the guys you stop talking. And i said what's the matter to just live jessica walks in and we're just sorta turnaround in this salt missing. Nothing you cannot say you think of that. Justice rather went down smoke now like i said the elliott. The two women in these interviews seem to be more authentic and what i love about her little speech there is the fact that she doesn't try and like embellish issues and say those a man in the left or there was a figures she's like it wasn't a figure we couldn't make out what it was. It was a shape. It was a shape of smoke and it just went up. It's so authentic shiva saying because it's like she's just literally saying what she's seen it's catchphrase. She's just saying what she says. So yeah she rarely She made me a believer of this little story. We're not going to hear the the boss of the time of that knitwear factory. Tell us a little bit about the history of the place which is very interesting and then we lan obviously the name of the former owner. Well this story goes the in the day it was a knitting mill was one of the largest in the trunk in eighteen nineties j w was recalled nuts mr starr. It was the end of this. Did you get that's right. The former owner was cold. Mr bastard or mr start if you will please please pronounce my name properly. It's a start you don't get many bus styles about these days. Do you know not since the court did you change your name. Now you'll hear on the next part. Unfortunately he met an untimely end. The poll starred committed suicide on the premises in which is now our knitting room. And how did he commit. They only himself in the offices and seemingly overlaid on the same and he's never arrested. All polka. paul starred killed himself over. Lady how very eighteenth century well nineteenth century very like ero. I shall live anymore. I wonder if she said. I can't be with you. Pass start for our sons and daughters will all be starts. Maybe he's like oh right even if we're married before birther be passed our odds perhaps by the way. That's sad isn't it. yes it is. And then you're going to hear next. Is another description of axes in terms of the fact. They've got an existential power in this place and it makes me think in the seventy s accesses must've had no free time because these seemingly everywhere and every northern factory the must like an on-call accessed and as happened in this place they also got an accident can been cold and he's out the next offseason fifty. You really think it's.

eighteenth century fifty ministers jessica next week nineteenth century two women today eighteen nineties nineteen seventy three years this year disney one seventies one minister paul starred fifty one morning fifteen religion a brennan

George lutz is cutting wood and it goes on for about six minutes because in the seventies and early eighties. It was allowed. That could long suedes of dead tv. When nothing much was happening these interviews would like that of how to edit them down and i jump in with my comments on wednesday. The twenty for example. There's a very funny name of a former owner the knitting warehouse which will here shortly which is very funny She was really good so maybe think probably going to do in the upcoming months. I'm going to put together a little series videos. Where i'll show you these actual video so today's just the audio from them but it still got but i'm going to put together a series of videos with me on the videos commenting about the videos in a bit of a joke style. But some of the stories as you'll hear actually really good rarely got unruly scare array. Okay of course as well today. we're going to spend that will spin the wheel spin that wheel. I'm find out just whom or who has One the signed copy of our book of all true goes listen story ghost listeners story to listen ghost stories book that we brought out last year. We're going send one of your wonderful patriots. A signed copy of that book. Yes we will. We'll get that in the post to whoever wins it and we'll be doing the draw that end of this show. Yes we were exciting and the of the video of that opened facebook page as well just so that everyone can see that. It's been done fairly legitimate to do is like the post which is a few posts below this. We're going to do with one in a couple of weeks. I think maybe for the same price. Maybe something different. I just don't know but yeah so that's what we're to do today. We're going to look at some of these otd interviews. I think the really good you now and this site op. Al divulge what the site is next week because he needs a check something on a first before a stock given out. I'm sure can. I just want to double check with the people who set it up because it looks like it's a college or university like project to sort things so i don't know i don't even know whether can share them. Share them on page on because doubt that people who set this up our patriots of the show and if the are may i wiped and sued who knows anyway. Let's have our. I wanna we're going to say rees format so there's going to be about. There's about five that we're going to look okay. So this first one then is from nine hundred seventy eight and it's ghost of silver hill colliery if you don't want to call you. I'm not even saying that rights but a quality is the now anyway. it's coalpit. it's what we call a coal pit here in the uk. So this is the hills colliery ghost and it's an interview as all these are from atv now. Defunct channel think and in the midlands area or central england and this is the interview with the people who work at the colliery about that coaxed usual over the years that been reports and legends of ghosts very various pits particularly older ones. It's hardly surprising when you consider the conditions minds with enough to alone and indulge in this Illuminated only by the lots of that couplings in six sensors the imagination complete tricks on. Do you think it is all in the mind. There may be some element of practical joking until him. won't count say categoric categorically. What is the case in every particular incident but certainly skeptical to tell them goes now has an interesting thing. this pops up on all these interviews. Anyone who's in like position of authority within that company. There's like some form and the some manages. The overall company owners getting interviewed on these clips. Put the all kind of like go. But i don't believe in stuff like that and stuff like that and it's really interesting whereas most of the female. Where is that all mail these fellows. Obviously because it's the seventies but all the female workers seem to be like yet it's body real going to die anyway. Let's find out what actually happened. Is the story of the ghost. What exactly happened at silver hill connery. Well it nineteen year. Old man went into work with two other men. He stopped at his point of work and the other two men went towards the coalface off to his among came from the direction of the goldfish and said that he left his smut by the coalface. So the woman said he'd called a military man to man for them to pick it up but when he call them on the communication system. They said they not past anybody. The inland says he tuned to the minute the inquiry and he disappeared and not that you can human became quite distressed and left the pit and i understand to seat shock now. This is why. I love stories from like places in the seventies and stuff like that because when nowadays you hear someone say they seen a ghost ghost and they required treatment for shock. Yes they ghosn it so disturbed them. They had to go get medical assistance to get through it not me. But there's a legend anyway attached to the colori. So let's have a listen to that but isn't there a legend of a ghost at silver hill. Colliery yes i think. He's a bit of a jew. I supposed to be a ghost. Gold flood capped. Well he was down there. It'd be breached regulations. And certainly the couldn't go seems to move properly equipped with you. How the hell amazing well done say. Yes if you will burn a copy and breach at regulation to adapt to that ridiculous. It's amazing well done this. The seventy line well or you ghost did he have unregulated. Commitment didn't have a hard hat on. Well i'm afraid if you see him again you going up to send in to me it. Just fantastic. I love these. So that was the ghost of silver hill colliery is it was call researcher. Very interesting thing this some appear in the northwest. Obviously there's quite a few actually mainly round the talon slash wigan sorts of areas dad. The we still all go. And before the tories got rid of them in the eighties and we said he used to drive past particular. Pit coalpit in saint helen's and he said there was like there was a specific way that they'd set the set on the haunches. Like i can't really describe it but you know kinda like if you just squat right down to bombs like two inches off the floor if our and that's how did set like ours like the because he had to sit on put developed sorry to develop this of sitting like a weird tibetan sort of monk. I suppose so yes. That is a ghost from the colori silva hill colliery. Let's have another one a now. I love this next one. Because it's a ghost called old. Said yes and he horns causley swimming bats. This is from one thousand nine hundred seventy eight bought when you eventually see the video that apple together. You need to look at this video. It's amazing it's like a proper seventies news clip you know where these roving reporter in the field because the guys proper bought into this story so like. that's what it down. it's like a two minute long clip. Where he's not he's not do which is in these things. There's a lot of these sort of long gaps with nothing happened in it. So what it it down but in this one is a long like three minute to minute. Three minute source of period where we just getting change to swim bats. And he's whistling away and the lights go off and he's like says that out no goes back into the changing rooms. The lights go back on and off again. And then there's like the rattle of some of the hangers in the changing rooms. And he's really bought into doing this like the other in the go and look at it will in due to report. Okay well let them go. And i'm going to make it oscar worthy so it's fantastic to but this is the ghost old said of crossley baths or causley bats. Now i've included the first step because it's amazing. Listen to him. Just go in. And i'm paying to get into the baths place right out of a scooby doo thing firstly. It's twenty to go for the swim. Which is just ridiculous prices. Five pound twenty now anyway. But then not take a bunch and he like looks at it as if to say where avenue undisclosed chatty without speaking. Our eyes are saying more than ever we could say. Take her launcher. And he's basically what she's not saying 'cause old sits around and he's gonna freak you out. Anyway what transpires next on this amazing interview is. He's in a strong now the reporter and he's got a towel around his neck and he's standing at the pool. There's no one else in the pool. And he's dipping his tobin and then the manager comes along to discuss the ghost. Now talk about someone who's trying to buy into this like winning performance. It's like pizza k. And if you don't need pizza k. is and you guys in the states. He's like a northern comedian. You there's a lot of northern sitcoms and east. Berlin is dead phony but this is like a pizza cake. Character is fantastic. Egypt buys into this whole dramatic effect. That's going on like a what. Why you e- i as opposed to just in my name's trevor and on batson as a ghost it's amazing. Listen to this lovely. I in today's yes. Monning the you know. The i really what i did seat ghost cozy best girls ghost we have a golden ear best. You know that amazing. He's like me new favorite pass in the wealth manager of the bats. We have a ghost tinian. didn't you know. didn't you know we ghost. We've been child. Where have you've been anyway then. We continue to talk about what's going on funny. You should say that should've because some strange things have been happening to me in the in the changing room over there is going up doors banging all sorts of children and all but why do you think is attracted to a swimming pool. It seemed to be strange isn't it. Nobody old isn't this visit. No it's not easy old. The wall you know ain't never swim shower when he want. Now things like this know. What is it all. He's very active everywhere. Yes always a good swimmer. The ripples of the water we get on the night and the morning you know. I mean this is Listen this other thing that expection. Wow i think we can all agree that this guy is amazing in all of my research of and all of your stories that you've sent in in everything that we've probably all collectively locked up. Never in the history of the topic of ghosts has anyone when asked. Why did you think this place is haunted. Ten around and said well. It's lovely and here. We go swimming pool. It's wall you can swim. You can go about his day. He's not cold jeremy. This guy's going to open a hotel. Forgo i think and if he does i want the penthouse suite. Pretty please but it's just amazing. This guy is fantastic. He does eventually get serious. I think we're going to go into that business shortly but he does eventually say exactly. What's gone on but not before said makes an apparent now of course he doesn't put this just puts the shine and good. This interview is they clearly throw shot in the pill and then go what was that was that said i said that. He's having a splash. Move around so this is that part. Timing bores as well. I've never seen could be old said. Of course you never know what came in at about plus eleven. Walk down the chain. You put the lights on the dual sudeley float. And i d line fell to me the day and then i went down to the end and the lights went off. Course charged out. You know thinking somebody there goes. Nobody told me it's not just use it. I mean everybody else. In this place things goes most of the staff. Yes one of my staff went down to clean the toilets and moaning about our seven. It was dako obviously know. And of course the ac knit aston find him to death. Jump old said well. Oh sadism shop. You know we don't really know. Is it passes. Oh tolsey eighteen so fast. So you don't really get a vision of what it looks like you know but the female attendants is also seeing him. Three you all time. Do you believe in ghosts rooted I'm beginning to do. Yes yes i am. I'm beginning to wonder this the something. About how about the amount the job really. Yes i am. It's not a you know. nothing really happens to one. Is it all of the popular where he is what he looks like any jumped right. And he's a big guy and he's like goes well whole. No one really knows what he looks like do that. And then there's a fantastic komo up now honestly. I cannot wait to put this video together to show because the reporter and this wonderful new favorite guy of mine the start walking away from the pool and it ended the interview bull then he implies that said this is the reporter implies that sid has pushed him into the pill. It's comedy genius and just deserves the best actor oscar. Here we go bill. It's not that on account. I think i'm going to have a screen today. I i think. I think just lasts to you. Don't you come on. come on get out. build sade could el-sayed comes in for warm and honest to god. He's amazing. This guy is really a kind of eerie watching these videos though. Is that when you see them. Interview an old fellows on it like all oled women like on this interview. Where the tokens of my new favorite person in the world. He's clearly now as horrible as that is that was like what one thousand nine hundred seventy eight or seventy four one of the two. And so you looking like what. Thirty years would be two thousand fifty years between forty and fifty years ago. This guy's in the sixties there so it might not be that there's a good chance the majority of people you're gonna listen to on our data which is a little bit eerie. Don't you think anyway. That guy is a legend in east. I'm getting a poster on definitely. I'm going to get his face blown up. Can't get out swimming pill. Let's sit up some lengths. So he's great. Let's have another right. This next one is an interview from a cattle factory. In nineteen seventy four and they're haunted. Also that all workplaces these by the way and this guy again is a bit of a legend. Listen to how he explains how he's always salts about kettles if you're looking for someone to segue kettles into ghosts. This is the perfect way to segue a kettle. The you just make a cup of tea. Cup of coffee. This is guay a kettle into ghosts. Replace this isn't it or perhaps like you've always associated kettles with the clanking of metal. Weird whistling sounds now. Listen i've watched many episodes of family fortunes or family feud in american anyway many episodes of that where they said we asked one hundred people if they said we asked hundred people. What you think of when you think of a kettle. I guarantee you if you said it. Clanking metal to go. No no of another go. Is it weird whistling noises. Are this this guy. It's perfect segue talk about crowbar in. There's no way on earth that that's what he thinks of when he thinks about kettles anyway let's get back to his interview but things here rather different. In fact the kind of goings on in this office make the exorcist looked like mickey mouse. Sorry had to jump back in. They make the exorcist. Looks like mickey mouse. So you bracing yourselves to something that is in this guy's mind scarier than the devil himself possessing a young child and killing few people in the process. You ready for that k it clearly. It's going to be much more scary than clanking sounds. And we'd whistling noises. Let's see people have heard weird footsteps along the floorboards rattling milk bottles and believe it or not. Even this kind.

"It sunday. Call me a little bit. Unawares here. Because i've just scared the cat because she's scared me. So what's happened is of into the recording room and the corner of me. I i see this little thing. Move an eye shriek. It's the cat tile so my shriek makes the cut ron so we skirt each other and now what you're staring at each other as if to say who's in the wrong here. Let me tell you my feline friend. It's me i'm definitely in the wrong. I apologize cat. Do you accept my apology. Take that's slow. Turn away as a yes. How are you all doing guys. I hope you're all doing wonderfully well. It is sunday. It's a bit of a different someday. This week or patrons know why that is because i to say that i'm ramped at work and snowed under is a complete understatement. That's no information of any use to us at all but it is for the next part because we're going to say now is it means i just don't have time to record an episode today. I really wish i did if i did. It means i'll be doing it literally up midnight after work in solidly for about maybe eighteen hours. Something like that and no one wants to be honest. Nobody wants to fund a little bit of downtime to record a bit of an intro which is this and also record a patriot episode for our wonderful patriots. So i thought to do instead. Guys is doolittle intro for this. And i will play instead a patriot on episode. One that you want if you're not a patriot and obviously if you a patriot don't because you still get a picture on episode today so we will all be patriots for this very special day and it's a one off and i hope you forgive me for having no standard episode out but if you're a patriot is still going to get an episode. And if you not. John is still going to hear an episode that you've never heard before so everyone's a bit of a winner. Petty does yawn. That's right breakfast. And yeah and if you've signed up the patriot. I won't be singing your name in this show of course but obvious reasons but i will in the next show and if you signed up to patron to see what all the fuss is about what you're about to find out rarely go to pitch dot com forward slash. Because she's the most intelligent person. I've literally have matt. So when she was like every other time i was like. Oh my god. It's something i know that you don't and it's a very short lived and very cheap victory. But i do hope that you're all staying. Well stay till next week. When will give full improper episode in the meantime. Please listen to care from the past the past With an old patriot. Episode to fully boots. Because i will still always inevitable content out. Even if i can't physically do it myself and for patrons you lucky things will have a normal episode anyway. I'll catch you next week. I love y'all tatty.

"Hosts, blackjack Brad and Kansas City little, Brighi Blue Eyes, and now baseball together. Welcome Baseball family I am bread, and as always I'm joined our Guy Brig. So baseball family. and. We are here this week. With actually a surprisingly active week of baseball outside of the world series there were some things said something's going on and we're GONNA get into it. You ready to get into a break dude yes I'm so ready. All right. Let's get into first things. First Reggie. Jackson. Has decided to chime in on how things are going just in the playoffs in general about the home runs backflips and quite. Frankly. Brig. October wants you to get off his lawn. Simply. Okay Well. Say that. Sorry. There it is. There it is. You were all thinking it. Okay. We were thinking that. Was Yeah but he thinks. He. Thinks players did settle down there needs to be a line drawn with a celebrations. He's like, yeah, it's fine. It's fun to. Go out there. Do backflips hit home runs and stuff he's put you shouldn't be disrespecting the team it's like. Nobody's disrespecting anybody. The only people who are being disrespected the ones who feel like they're being disrespected because they're giving up on runs or they're sensitive in the moment which it Every pitcher they know as soon as the ball hits the bat that it's going out right yet they turn around some of them don't even turn around, but they all cuss kicks dirt and get the ball. The celebration is not directed at anybody. It's directed to. The team's dugout right this moment. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah so I saw this and I was like. Man Somebody's getting out of touch with baseball I mean. Do you how much do you agree disagree with this break? Do you think do you think Mister October is a little out of balance here? Why Reggie. Jackson's been out balanced with a lot of competitive sides. You know his career for a long time. which is caveat is part of what makes him spectacular Right. He's great for the same reasons you. All are that way so I don't know if I could disparage him for it and is, but is he out of touch as this old school? Yes and I wonder if maybe the biggest point of disparity. is his perception of his influence. That's that's what. To me, it's like so when Griffey speaks we all bow. Still, right? Yeah. But but I feel like Reggie has been outside the spotlight for just long enough and the you know the generation that idea idolized him. Is less active quite honestly I mean they're they're losing faith in the game and it's indicative. you know through the fan base, and now you know some of these older players are speaking the same same ways that some of that fan basis feeling I guess the best way to put it. So yeah, I don't think he's off base I. Think He's speaking for on behalf of his constituency if you will is demographic. and he's he's the mouthpiece for a Lotta People's feelings. I just think he is a disproportionate opinion of his influence right now. That's a perfect way to put it. Yeah. Yeah. It's just Old School meets new school old school doesn't like school. Old School tells new school to settle down. Br and that's just so reads the history books. Yeah exactly right. All of them yes. No. Yeah. I mean I. I always say, and this is not me that's still listen from somebody..
