"Robinhood taking investors on a joyride the stock surging as much as eighty one percent for triggering several trading halts early in the session. Robin had closing out the day with a gain of just fifty percent. It's now up. Eighty five percent since going public on thursday. So what's driving. The wild action shares. A robin hood. Let's kick things off with kate. Rooney's got the story kate. Tamerlane's yeah quite a turnaround for robin hood. The stock touched eighty five dollars earlier. That is well above where it last week robin hood. Stunk ended the day around. Seventy dollars per share was the second. Most traded name on the nasdaq. Today only behind. Amd and it was halted a few times for volatility today as far as trading volume it surpassed its ipo day with more than eight billion dollars worth of shares changing hands. The stock is still seen pretty thin trading so that thanks to some of those lock-up periods for certain investors mean fewer shares are available to trade. I'm told that brought a lot. More volatility today retail interest is another big factor. It is the most mentioned stock on read it. At least it was today. According to data from think with more mentions than both game stop and amc and momentum train is well. That is a factor. There's likely hedge funds looking to jump in on some of this action. Short interest though does not appear to be a factor at tends to be pretty expensive too short stock like robin hood so soon after nine peo- that is thanks to the lack of shares out there to borrow. I talked to s. three partners about this earlier. They say there is some short interest but it was really the long side. Driving robin hoods prices today.

"I'm vinyl backdrop. Just touch it quick for you there. You go and so what that does is. It's a way to also hide or make your space look nicer than actually release. Fortunately there's nothing behind. There is just a wall but You can customize your your livestream space your studio and make it more comfortable while. So you're gonna just option. Got a lot of other options as marco. Yes yes yes. I love this lamp. If you want to customize you can do a of these led lights. I think could be a nice option. Yeah i bring up some of those. Yep okay i think last week Talk about this for so. Let's bring them sure. By the way. I bought today. some led lights stripes so for those organizer livestream student. Make him look look a lot nicer for example. You wanna look. Let's just say you happen to have a lot of stuff behind you. One thing you could also do is you can use these kinds of led lights for example you can throw them behind you or throw them at different angles in your office. And they can create like for example. Maybe you don't put them on all the stuff behind you but like you can actually use it as a set piece to make you appear more organized than you really are. So that's a possibility absolutely. Yeah these are much margaret seventy dollars. Seventy dollars yep so so. That is an option if you want to go from a lighting perspective and you want to improve your your lighting but also like use it as again. It's a set piece so like if you've got a lot of stuff behind you and you're like you know what i don't have anywhere to put it. Let's turn off the lights so the lights aren't cast on those things you know if you don't have the shelves or the storage and then you can at least make it part of your set for your livestream studio. So that's kinda out of the way but also still functional so kind of like you have here. I mean you've got all the stuff on the background for example let's say a whole bunch of papers and books and you want to display them instead of actually cashing in that light on them. You could put the light on this center. Object while letting this stuff in the background actually be there by way. I'm gonna look up somebody who's actually recommend we check out the The ad pro actually let me see what that looks like..

"Want to start the hand number. One that i played about a month ago and i played it on a poker coaching. Dot com playing explained livestream as well so Brad's hand starts with us at a five hundred table playing five ten. No limit cash on ignition. Brad is under the gun or excuse me. We're finding five handed. So brad is in the middle position with eight seven of spades opens twenty five dollars the player in the cutoff. Who looks like a rag. Three about two seventy dollars. Everybody else folds caught off and brad are. I guess we should finish up. Ashen brad bets to two hundred thirty dollars. Oath brad and the cutoff started about a hundred and forty five big blinds effective on rag but his three about sizing was team very very small even versus a hundred big stack versus two and a half x. Open making it. Seventy is definitely smaller than what i would expect. I'd expect closer to ninety or maybe even one hundred out a huge deal. I think the more interesting. Our pre flop is your decision to four but actually don't actually think that villains throughout sizing somewhat reasonable at this depth and because they're in position. I don't think they necessarily need to go super big because they can. They can go smaller here. Then they can defend very appropriately versus four bat swallow retaining position throughout the rest of the hand. And if i call very often facing the small three bet sizing then basically. I'm gonna be out of position in a deep sack pot throughout the rest of the hand which is going to be pretty annoying to navigate so actually think villains three about sizing here is it's reasonable. I don't think it's it's definitely not a not worth nitpicking over the sizing for sure. Yeah in seventy eight. Suited is gonna be commits close to the bottom of my. Mp opening range. It's a handed. I mean again. I'm probably defending almost everything except for some alike off suit. Ace jack off type hands. I think those hands are going to get folded but pretty much fitting everything versus small three about sizing and need to find some hands to forget with for board coverage and then also bottom of range type for hands that could flop pretty well can give me some equity post flop and like i said can cover some some of the lower middling type boards that we would like to have some good hands on those boards to so because of all of that. I decided to go ahead and four about this hand if it does five bet which i don't know that they're gonna five bet really anything here even aces and kings. I think those hands might just flat but if they do five bed it's obviously pretty easy to fold the seven hundred and eight.

If they're wanting to recoup their money. It only makes sense for in the near time to release on sony at seventy dollars price tag. Because you know. Sony decided they wanted to raise the price of all games. Big fuck you. Here's seventy dollar game for your console. Pay us 'cause. I honestly still don't understand how streaming services work or game pass service works where these companies make money like and i've talked about nap police before it's like they have all these programs. Fuck how do they make. No i don't want to cut you off. Just go ahead and finish your thought. I was going to say i don't see i've talked about. I don't see how they make money paying to make all this content and it's a script subscription service and they have so much fucking content but go ahead and so to touch on that. I'm a victim of it. I do play game pass games. Okay i love my game pass games but at the same time some of these game pass games have deal seat. They have microtransactions Also a lot of the game pass games are limited time on game pass. So say you're loving the hell out of this game and you play it while it's on game pass and then it says you know what this game is leaving game pass it. You can either buy it now or don't play it anymore so not saying for myself. I mean i have done this. But i'm pretty sure that there's a lot of people that say yes. I love this game going to still play it. I'm going to buy it even if it's at a discounted rate i'm still gonna buy that game. You go and i get that. But that's just the third party games that leave so the first party. Xbox games that they're spending this money that's coming from game pass to make those one stay on game pass so it's not like someone's going to buy it if it's going to be on game pass forever granted. There are some people that do that to support that the developer. whatever. But i mean for first party First party games by microsoft studios..

Is the New Apple TV 4K Worth the Money?

"Is the new apple tv. Four k worth. It could keep this fairly simple. probably not well what. Let's let's before we get into the details. I i do want to dig into why you think this But he tukwila. What is new about the new apple. Tv for kickboxer. What what exactly is it's the second generation. So how's it different from the first one short so the new apple tv four k which was updated a few weeks ago long. Overdue update gives it a much more modern processor goes from the eight ten. The twelve biometric which was a processor found a years ago and i phone as opposed to the ten which is dating itself Back a few years It also has most notably in remote that works a lot. Better it drops. The reliance of solely using track pad now has a directional pad. Baked in with apple calls a click pats combined some of the gestures with a real functioning directional pattern that makes navigating the apple. Tv significantly easier. Yeah and i know. We talked about the remote the floor. Is that something that existing apple. Tv buyers should consider buying this box for if you have an apple tv four k already. Then i think the fifty fifty nine dollar remote upgrade. That's how much that remove costs on. Its own apple charges a lot. That's apple. I think if you have apple tv four k fifty. Nine dollars for remote makes more sense. Assuming you're happy with that. Box storage is in full Absolute pretty quickly and easily for you. Getting that upgrade is a lot better than spending hundred and seventy dollars on a new box. If you have an older apple tv hd then are actually recommend the opposite. Spend the extra money. Get the faster box will get four k support for more modern. Tv's whether it's tv currently owner the tv that you'll probably get if you don't have a four k. Tv now at some point in the i imagine not terribly distant future

"We ought to have a period of three or four years where the market's reasonably tight and not fifty five dollars tight sixty five or seventy tight and the question will be. Can we control it to the upside or could it break out on us and get away And that could happen. But in a market where. Oil trades closer to seventy than fifty. The valuations are cheap in the companies are returning the capital and so all of a sudden that will start to matter and will we see billion dollar equity offerings. Probably why because there's a bunch of non traditional or non normal owners through all these restructuring of debt guys have become equity guys in a ton of of restructured companies and will see them. Get out. And so i expect i expect they'll dribble some of that out but their offerings and will new money generally come back to the space i think it will. I think you know sixty sixty dollars to seventy dollars. Oil and three times cashflow companies will make folks say while this is real and you add the inflation trade to to it as well and Long only guys are gonna come back. They'll i've said they'll slink back. Nobody's gonna say i own exxon chevron they're going to just own it very quietly and by a little bit more on the margin and they may start to sneak into devon or diamondback or pioneer or slumber. J. and so i think that's how it happens in because we're coming from such a place of overhang peak demand is coming energy transition etc because of that it takes a little bit longer than it has historically usually it kind of gets a bit asymptotically On the upside. I think it'll be much more linear so i think we got two or three or four years. Where you just sorta grinded out. It may not be as good as forty percent a year but it might be and we might have one hundred percent year in there. Somewhere but I think we've seen this playbook and the realization is going to be a really long energy transition. Means.

Sit around the house and clip newspaper articles or something to send to the grandkids. You gotta be joking. Life's too much fun. There's too many things going on. There's too much to do. There's too much to plow through. Plus i got a great kick out of fight with the irs on a constant basis. Yeah it's it's a blast and that for for the for the non-professional that's that's a real task. Because i had one took nine years to solve you just have to keep plowing it and plow in it and in it and and moving on an appealing it appealing. It appealing talking person after person after person writing letters. It's you can't give up you give up your loose in life you give up you lose. "Do you think this is going to be more complicated than people would hope. It would be well. Complicate is the right word. chris. And that's what i ask that he heard in the post fight press conference. How complicated you expect this to be now. He's not going to say publicly. It's going to be extremely complicated. That would serve probably no purpose for him but he knows as well as anyone does that. It is going to be complicated. I don't think that it's going to be anything. That will prevent the fight from happening. Because caleb plan is simply not going to walk away from this type of payday this type of opportunity because as much as everyone talks about canelo alvarez going for the undisputed super middleweight championship that same opportunity presents itself for caleb plant who could win three titles from canal wild roots and it's an enormous amount of money life changing money so i can't see him walking away from it but i do think that it'll be complicated in the sense that Kayla plant has a lot of leverage here canal. Alvarez made has made no bones about the fact that this is only fight that he wants next when you repeatedly say that publicly you're giving some leverage away to the other side plant and and al hinman and louis cuba stay. No that can nilo needs that. Now whether the fight winds up on disown or sports paper or both because they've shown canales Fights on pay per view as well so i could see it being available both ways still. Don't quite get people pay seventy dollars for something that you could pay eight dollars or twenty dollars for but there are people doing that but nothing nothing. Nothing in boxing. I like more than like network. Nuts like the ones that are like. It's gotta be on paper view. 'cause i insist on paying eighty dollars forward instead of subscribing to that damn zone. You know what it is. Chris and it's weird because the way it's been explained to me by people i know who are doing. It is that they're older people usually that don't wanna be bothered with learning the technology and i try to tell them. Look i'm not the most tech savvy person in the world. I mean you know that as well as anyone right. But i could figure out zone. I it's not really all that complicated. And what i would and these are not people who are stealing the signal or anything stealing pay per views. These are people paying know. It's a little less because it's on zone. Also i think it's been like sixty sixty five bucks. These are people paying more than three times. The amount that they would have to pay to watch a fight. I don't again. I don't know why you would do that but there are people doing it so a lot of people doing it. The last time. This last paper view kc billy joe saunders. They did a pretty healthy number. I i hear bayview. It is amazing that you hear people complaining about pay per view and then you have people paying three times the amount to watch on something on pay view. It's crazy but there are people doing it. So i think it'll be on both. I think it'll be the reason that i think it could get complicated because al hinman is not just going to try to get canelo alvarez to fight kayla plant. He's going to try to get him to fight gala plant next. And then david ben evita's and then jamal You know he's going to try to offer he's a free agent. He's not.

Chris twenty dollars seventy dollars jamal david ben evita Alvarez eight dollars chris eighty dollars canelo alvarez both three times louis al hinman both ways billy joe saunders three titles middleweight sixty sixty five bucks more than three times

A Review Of The New OnePlus 9 Phone

"Okay so One plus announced the phones. This week they've been teasing these for a long time. I mean one plus the king of not spending a dollar on advertising and just using the power of their voice on the internet to To let you know about everything so the one nine series is the oneplus nine. The oneplus nine pro. You guys know that For for prices we have seven twenty nine starting price for the oneplus nine and then it tops out at eight twenty nine hundred bucks more That gets you eight gig ram and one hundred twenty gigs storage at seven twenty nine and then for another hundred bucks you could ask for more gig rams so twelve gram double the storage certificate six for the nine pro. Which is this guy starts at nine sixty nine. And that's also the eight gig one twenty eight gig combo and then this model i actually have is fully specked out so another hundred bucks which takes us over the thousand dollar price point to one thousand sixty nine twelve gig to fifty six storage. It's kind of what they've done for a couple years so it makes sense but we are at another increase the The eight pro last year started eight ninety nine and then topped out. I think right at ninety nine ninety nine I can't remember offhand with the eight price. Was the april five ninety nine. Six hundred ninety six ninety nine seven ninety nine have been six nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine. Yeah because we're up to seventy nine so kind of a thirty dollar increase in a seventy dollar look. They packed a lot of specs. And we'll get to that so anyway if you want the top of the line one plus nine pro we are whoa well over a thousand but were over thousand bucks now so were ridiculous as far as specs go you know oneplus. Didn't really hold back. They kind of gave us everything and everything you would expect from a modern phone. You know they they haven't done headphone jacks for awhile. And s d cards i. I don't know that they've ever really done those in there. Really cheap phone so i. I'm not gonna waste time complaining about those. But they added the newest of the new. Obviously the cameras going to be a big focus with the with the hassle blah partnership But like this nine pro has hd one hundred twenty hertz. tim's lower lesser of a phone much Ten eighty p but also still hundred twenty hertz. They both have staff in eight eighty eight. I talked about the ram and storage configurations On the camera this has a quad camera. Yours has triple camera. Believe so the big thing. There is the hospital vlade partnership so. This camera is the sony. I m x seven eight nine. Which most people doesn't mean anything. But it's just sort of the newest sony sensor. They said they they developed it in custom with with sony. And so you've got that. And then it has a fifty megapixel wide angle lens.

Prices for Nvidia RTX 3000 Graphics Cards Are Getting Insane on eBay

"Prices for the invidia. Rtx three thousand graphics cards are getting insane on ebay bc. Meg is covering this article. If you're wondering what's going on with prices on even prices are getting kinda crazy Scalpers our in house charging people two thousand dollars to own in videos. Rtx thirty eighty. Unfortunately the ongoing shortage for the latest pc graphics card is causing the prices for the usa. Too disturbing new heights on ebay. Since mid-september scalpers have been reselling the rtx thirty on ebay for around thirteen hundred to fifteen hundred dollars which is almost double. The original seven hundred to eight hundred seventy dollar cost depending on model but in recent weeks the pricing for the in demand graphics card is only got more insane and actually have a graphic kind of showing the graph prices are all over the place but seems to be general medium to understand the full scope of escaping chicago based data engineer named michael driscoll has been tracking a gpo sales on ebay using a computer script on tuesday. He told us the medium price for the rtx. Thirty eighty has now reached two thousand and seventy dollars the median prices for ebay for all the rtx. Three thousand cards began to balloon in february in the case of the thirty eighty costs. Shot up to around twenty four hundred. The rtx thirty seventy any other hand in a high of over twelve hundred dollars. Us and it's like no world is going on. Numbers only began to drop last week. During the same time invidia lodged most affordable entry in the rtx three thousand series thirty sixty which starts at three hundred and thirty dollars. Prices stopped going up exactly when it launched. The i can't be coincidence. Driscoll told us not a huge drought significant by us meaning. Pc not meet for the increases. I have no way of confirming. But i know many employers give out bonuses in february and people are starting to file and receive tax returns which could be driving some of the price increase. The insanity has also carried over to the amd's latest rate on graphics. Cards scalpers on ebay are now hockey enough for about double the normal cost. It's like a grant allowed guys One factor they do mention is the surge in crypto currency mining which might be creating more customers scars on ebay. Still imagining someone to pay two thousand dollars for a single. Pc graphics card is mind boggling ultimately as a dark time to be a pc builder but you can find ways around. You don't have to get the latest and greatest graphics card can still work with what you have or you can forget buying a pc and building it from scratch and just get one prebuilt to some extent. Probably help you out

"I think a lot of people are going to be mad like a little bit of because it's only on. Ps five and there's a lot of people that can't get ps fives right now. So it's kinda kinda wack get his own final fantasy seven remake and i'm very big final fantasy seven fan don't have a ps five yet The other thing is it's like the deal sees only for this. Ps five version right. So i'm pretty sure that you can't play the lc on your ps four version. So basically you'll be buying a seventy dollar game that you have already bought once to play. Dlc unless i'm mistaken about any of anything that i just said I thought that was kind of weak. But i'm super excited about the dlc though if he's a super cool character. The final fantasy seven remake Can lead to anything with her character. The characters any characters from the original that may have died. Anybody can come back. Anything can happen in this It's going to be amazing. The remake was absolutely incredible. Final fantasy seven remake. Integrate will be released on june tenth for seventy dollars. Those who bought the ps four version of final fantasy seven remake will be able to upgrade the plus place fishing five version for free a separate cost to integrate by the game for free on. Es five but you still have to pay for like the deal. See like i will. I did see. It's weird. Because i just read an article that said on march second. I guess they're doing the final fantasy seven remake on ps four nps. Five for free. But if you have the. Ps four version. You can't upgrade to the ps fibers. Yeah if you got the free plus version okay but if you own the game then you can upgrade. Yeah well that's awesome. Glad to declare that. Don't don't be too mad. It sounds like you'll be able to get there. It didn't say anything about that being able to play on. Ps four though. So i guess it is playstation five exclusive right so you'd have to upgrade and then i guess by the dnc. Okay well seventy bucks. It'll cost you six hundred dollars to play. Don't have a playstation five hundred and twenty true. And if you and if you don't have a ps five that might be what you're upset about their hard to find. Still just as a side thing i saw today was that the current administration is going investigate. Why we're having such a hard time getting like the diodes and shit to make these systems.

The Robinhood stock app restriction on GameStop and others, explained

"The past two nights here on free talk live. We've talked in great detail about this robin hood situation Which was originally the game. Stop situation but then robin hood. The stock trading app decided. It wasn't just robin hood. It's it's been a bunch of stockbrokerage websites and apps and such. They have locked down people's ability to trade certain stocks. They've decided that they know what's best for you. And the shaun be able to. Trade rob skirts. Sorry robin shop able to trade game. Stop you shop able to trade. Amc and like a dozen other failing business now. Apparently the accents cryptocurrency. Now as well right. That's the latest news. As a matter of fact yes. So that's what i wanted to talk about here. Tonight was how now the very same app which apparently is forty percent of its revenue. I got the the clarification on this nobody because last night We were wondering are they owned by the hedge fund. That got hit the hardest by this whole game. Stop thing so the turns out the hedge fund is like forty of robin hood's business so there are big client apparently of robin hood. And so i thought it was that the company that owns robin hood also owns the hedge fund. Well that's what i had heard originally. But now i've read that they are a big client is apparently of hoods. Probably their largest client that forty percent of their revenue comes from said hedge fund now for listeners selling that hedge fund or i don't know how they're paid for don't they don't their fee free trading right. That's that's what their day are for retail investors. They may have a different level of -til tier of service for other people. I don't know. I don't know exactly what they're arrangement is with this company tied in deep with them this hedge fund that they're talking about has taken billions of dollars apparently in losses because of their short positions on the game. Stop and that's what. The news was two days ago. Was that these hedge. Funds were being taken for a huge ride and losing billions because they had short at game stop and what happened was a reddit. Community called wall street. Bets decided to organize just decided to self organize. And say well. We're gonna go and buy up this failing company game stop this physical media distribution location. And we're gonna put money into the stock and that resulted in the short sales having to be liquidated but they couldn't They couldn't get the short sale stock back because the guys who were buying the stock the the people in this group weren't willing to sell it so the price of the stock shot up insanely because there wasn't much available on the marketplace for these for these hedge funds to actually buy up so as a result of that the price of the game stop. Stock has gone up tremendously in the last month. It's gone up from like thirteen for fifteen bucks to over three hundred seventy dollars at point. I think it'd even crashed through four hundred dollars a couple of days ago now since gone down a little bit into the lower three hundreds. I believe as of yesterday. And i haven't checked today to see what happened to it so then yesterday the news was this robin hood. Stock trading app had told its customers that no sorry. We won't be letting you buy games game up or amc or some of these other failing businesses because protection. We're protecting you are our clients. They would only allow you to sell said stock if you had them in your inventory. Then at the end of the day yesterday they put out another press. Release reneging on that previous restriction and saying that okay Starting tomorrow we are going. To let you buy these stocks but in limited quantities.

Click that button and it's it it gets tedious. Yeah but we'll see. We'll we'll see ultimately i just you know. I wish things were different. And unfortunately they're not things are spiraling out of control in this. Were not at rock-bottom yet. But it's hard for me to keep being excited about things when i see the state of where the game's at in especially on the collection side of it so and i know that i've had this conversation you know with from lert up in you know it's just it's just. It is where the clicks at and it's unfortunate that the clicks are their down. And just just it's a lot of like. Hey look i can tire case. Hey look i got an entire case right. Hey look. I'm not trying to say anything negative but like it just seems out of this world where i mean i guess if you have tons of money and you can just be like. I'll pay like seventy dollars for each elite trainer box. I'll pay one hundred twenty one as so which means they're hurting everything because because they're feeding the scalpers they're giving them money but then also creating you know the market for them to profit even more from so. It doesn't help anybody or make anything better. It's it's it's gross in it sucks and like i. I know. I put a tweet out saying like anyone who collects replace appointees g. Bethesda Announces Indiana Jones Game

"Morning a little small indie company by the name of edessa decided to wake up in chooses violence. They've announced a new indiana jones game. I'm pulling directly from their twitter Kevin i have the twitter link. Create a poll up. If you wanna show the teaser that they tweeted out this morning for the indiana jones game between a follow up tweet reads like this. A new indiana jones game with an original story is involvement from our studio machine games. It'll be executive produced by todd howard in collaboration with lucasfilm games. It'll be some time before we have more to reveal but we're very excited to share today's news on those your reaction confusion because they didn't look rebrand yesterday and they're already like coming out swinging like i remember everyone thinking. I wonder if this means like indiana jones games like. Yeah maybe when they do movie sure but like i did not expect the day after they did. The rebranding like yeah. No lucas like indiana jones as well and machine games really good. Pick i would. I am excited for them to stretch our legs a little bit like get into different. Ip it like really see what they can do with this game. Yeah this looks. I'm very excited about this. From the perspective of i would not have expected this announced it and for them to come out and be giving it to machine games. I think is very exciting Because beijing games obviously known for the wolfenstein game the recent style games that i've been really excellent. This seems like an entirely new project for them. In the way that. I'm really curious and excited to see them. Stretch their legs and try out something new. Because this this very much reminds me of the same or similar as guerrilla games From zone in creating horizons zero. Don you know and like kill zone obviously like not wolfenstein in terms of how those things are. it's like wolfenstein. The new colossus vary excellent game. But what games in wolfson cost new colossus and. We'll send the order. I feel like if showing off a skill in terms of. Hey we can make blockbuster story like we can make We can have great dialogue and great cut scenes and really have you engaged with what's going on in the story of this game and so to see them tackle indiana jones game. I think is really exciting for that. Machine gave such a perfect pick because they're not afraid to just like if they want to do something that doesn't necessarily like jive with game and sarah and i'm not saying that's bad but like if they want to create some distance they will do it like we just colossus. Start off with you. Feeling all powerful. It's with you feeling like real shit like that. You start off extremely weak in that game. You literally start off in a wheelchair and then like before you really get. You know the new die. In a couple of hits. It is a difficult game at the beginning. I i can definitely see them. Having gained more quiet and contemplative at times indiana jones game that sometimes gets really lower action packed. And i think they're they're great at doing those balancing those two things so yeah. It is super cool to imagine what that game is right now. of course peach on dot com slash. Kind of funny games where you can go to ask questions for this show and most of the questions were all about this exact news and i have two questions that pretty much encompass what most people were asking So i'm gonna pull mitch crass in who wrote in and asked what is the most likely version of the in an indiana jones game. You're getting machine games. Third person first person tomb raider or horizon. Gluten full also wrote in and says good. Morning sexes with indiana jones. Being announced how do you think the game will fall into the microsoft acquisition. Xbox exclusive gain if third party and its success will microsoft. Continue making them. Thanks for all you do. 'em ron start from anywhere. I'm i'm gonna let you pick where we start in terms of what this game is going to be in house can be released. Could actually we're up to these things together is does does this game exist as an xbox version of mater are not charted. And that's like that. Is i think the most important question to me. 'cause like if like are they trying to go for. Hey why bother with dime store idiot joseph. Every jobs were here like drake become the. We have indiana jones at home. Kenneth i who knows. I think that would be an interesting for microsoft but the fact that acquisition was announced through ago as as the more than three months ago like four months ago. I'm gonna guess. His games deals deals with this game. Were asked before that but it is also worth noting that xbox responded to this tweet already. They've the xbox account. Sony has not as far as i know. Maybe it's correct me. W but does that indicate that this exclusive or does it like the fact that it's a external ip in the case that is supposed to be everywhere like this does give us a little bit of an idea or not yet but it will give us a little bit of idea of what does microsoft plan to do with the are they going to for example the star field on ps five. If so like was an ordeal for that or are they going to have startups five. Four seventy dollars and free on a free quote on game pass like that would be a hell of a contrast to make so. I'm curious what happens with within. Yeah jones because if they do make it they're like you can only play like spiderman. You can only play indiana jones on xbox that is a compelling do

Like how much right asked probably five hundred dollars for a dining room table. Jessica set intrigued. Ryan asked her to teach him how she painted their table. She did and within a week. Ryan was restoring an old dresser. They purchased for thirty dollars off facebook marketplace. The restoration involved ryan putting on a new coat of paint which only took a couple of hours as well as fifty dollars in supplies. This included a ten dollar paintbrush amazon along with the paint from lowe's although he had no previous refurbishing experience ryan realized. He loved the task when he listed the dresser back on facebook marketplace. It's sold within two hours for one hundred and fifty dollars. He and jessica were shocked at how quick it happened. It wasn't much work for a seventy dollar profit and even better. This was the first time they tried my able to replicate or even improved results. So for the next piece ryan refurbished up to the sale price. It sold in less than a day bufton polish with success. He started searching for more pieces of furniture at garage sales auctions and on facebook. He didn't have a truck at the time so he would borrow one from family or friends in order to source multiple pieces in a single day after refreshing them with paint or stain he would list them online with each one profit between one hundred and fifty to two hundred and fifty dollars since you've listed solely on facebook marketplace and didn't advertise ryan didn't have to pay any costs for marketing is. He began to scale up. He would work on several separate pieces at once. He devised a rotation process in his garage which allowed him to apply three coats to three or four pieces a day. You got even faster once. He learned how to do. Stained wood tops. This feature increased the value of his furniture still further. It allowed him to take a fifty dollar dresser and sell it for up to three hundred dollars in fact. Here's a fun anecdote. Brian purchased one particular piece from a garage sale. For fifteen dollars. Hit looked on. Its own so he ended up selling it as for two hundred dollars not a bad return on investment for practically no work the most challenging part of this project was learning the technique of making furniture reflect that farmhouse style. He messed up a bunch of pieces because he didn't apply the paint or stay in a certain way. Sometimes he could recover them sometimes not sometimes he would distress the coats of paint too much but through trial and error ryan perfected the skill. The furniture flipping continued part time for several months. Meanwhile he was growing more and more than happy. It is corporate job so in august. Two thousand nineteen jessica convinced him to quit and try flipping furniture fulltime. He finally got his own truck and focused on the furniture. Business bringing in between two thousand and three thousand dollars a month. Although this was less than he made it as corporate job he was much more content. Ryan did this for about nine months. Also helping out with jessica's wedding photography business earlier this year. He got a chance to go back to work in call center management but with a twist. This time he found a dream job working remotely as a supervisor. This rule enables him to be close to his family also getting a regular paycheck with benefits. He's quick to note that the furniture flipping business will always be one of his reliable income. Sources it's not mentally taxing and he rebels in the opportunity to be creative. Best of all it serves as a solid backup plan so check this out. This story is a wonderful example of something that anybody can do. And when i say anybody can do like let me just kind of break this down because you might think. Well i'm not handy. I'm not either just just to be clear but it's not so much about being handy. Renovating is a lot like reselling of any form so reselling. I sometimes say one way or another. Everybody can do it. So maybe furniture isn't your market. What about computers or cameras or cars or high end kitchen blenders or upscale fashion items. These are just a few markets in which it's possible to make a good profit by acquiring items on making some kind of change or improvement and then selling those items to a new owner now. The chain improvement can be something substantial. You could be like overhauling the entire car. Let's say it can be maybe somewhere in the middle like a lot of furniture renovation is. it can't be purely aesthetic. In some cases you do run into situations like the dope from ryan where he found something and then thought about making a change to it but decided it's actually pretty good as it is in that case he paid a pretty low price borden was able to resell it for for a fantastic profit margin. So that doesn't happen all the time of course but you know as you kind of delve into this. Sometimes it does so. It's one of these things that everybody can do. If you're trying to figure out what's my next. How can i create a source of income. That is a good back-up plan for me. Something in this direction is worth considering. So i'm gonna leave you with today. Inspiration is good but inspiration with action is so much better.

This is what winning looks like

"I have a few people to sink. But i want to start by talking about two stocks facebook and general motors. Why those two you may ask. Because next week we'll be market full res tenth anniversary this show turns ten and the first two companies. We talked about on the first episode of this podcast. January fifth twenty. Eleven were general motors and facebook. Now in the case of gm they had just announced some really good sales numbers and we talked about whether that would translate into a good boost for the stock facebook was still a private company and the latest valuation put their market cap at fifty billion dollars and we talked about whether the social network was really worth fifty billion dollars and you hear from time to time. Well if you bought this stock at this point in time than today you'd have you know. And i i just thought well. What does someone actually did. What if someone listened to the first episode of market foolery took three thousand dollars and decided to split it. Three ways put one third into an and five hundred index fund. One third into general motors one third into facebook. How is that person doing after ten years now. Facebook was still private so they would have to wait another year and a half or the ip l. But you know in this scenario they just wait for that and on day one they say great. I'm in on facebook since january. Fifth twenty eleven here are the numbers s and p. five hundred up one hundred ninety two percent. That's good. that's real good. That is an above average decade. General motors less good. Gm up nine percent. I know of nine percent in ten years not gripped. Facebook goes public mid may of two thousand twelve and through today. The stock is up. Six hundred. Eighteen percent market crushing returns for facebook. So every ten years the market foolery day one portfolio. That started with three thousand dollars in cash is now worth more than eleven thousand dollars and i know. It is tempting to look at that portfolio in thick boy. If you just taken the money from general motors and put it into facebook. You'd be up so much more. That's not the point the point. Is this person this person who did this. Market full day one portfolio. They're doing great when it comes to investing. This is what winning looks like someone who doesn't invest in individual stocks like you and me someone who sits back and methodically puts money into an s. and p. five hundred index fund. Make no mistake. They're doing really well. Three thousand dollars in an index fund over the past decade. Now worth more than eight thousand seven hundred dollars. That's really good particularly when you think about all the sudden downturns the market has had over the past decade staying invested. No matter the environment takes discipline and i applaud that i celebrate that but three thousand dollars in an index fund over the past decade does not get you north of eleven thousand dollars today and yes i know that. Gm has not been the most inspiring business over the past decade. but it looked. at least. They're still here. Talked to any investor who owns shares of any of the many businesses that went bankrupt in the past ten years they will happily trade that stock for shares of general motors that end up in the plus column barely in the plus column. I know but they'll take those. Gm shares up nine percent along with the dividend payments. They will take that trade in a heartbeat. Facebook went public at thirty eight dollars. A share in may of two thousand twelve. That stock is now north of two hundred seventy dollars a share but remember was pretty rocky early on just a few months. After it went public. Facebook stock was below eighteen dollars. People bail people absolutely got in early. Saw the drop and bailed but those who held on. We're absolutely rewarded and again. I know no one actually did this. But i actually think it's a pretty good illustration of the approach. We talk about the motley fool on our podcasts and to a much greater degree in our services this is why we talk about allocation and mindset. This is why we talk about building to a portfolio of fifteen to twenty stocks with a long time horizon this market re day one portfolio is kind of a microcosm of what a market beating portfolio. Looks like you've got some laggards. You've got some companies that are keeping pace with the market and you've got some winners and a couple of those winners are up so much that they make your laggards irrelevant in the same way that facebook is up so much. It carries general motors over the finish line at the end of the decade to make this market beating portfolio. This is what winning looks like

Here's a first look at Apple's $549 AirPods Max headphones

AppleInsider Podcast

Here's a first look at Apple's $549 AirPods Max headphones

"I wanna talk to you about the airpods max. There was many rumors this fall that these were coming and being mid december. It looked like maybe we're not gonna get it before. Two thousand twenty one but no early on tuesday morning apple announced and released the airpods max. They went up for sale. I think it was like eight thirty in the morning and to everyone's shock and awe and let's just talk about now five hundred and fifty dollar price tag for the airpods. Max i would love to have your initial thoughts not only on the price tag but on the name. Because i kind of wish. They went with studio because the rumored codename airpods studio because they're over the your headphones with the cups. Noise cancelling airpods max. I don't know it sounds a little funny. What do you think william. I did as she laughed when i saw the name but only because apple keeps used to keep everything secret and now everything seems to come out but they hit us with a new name. We weren't expecting and that did the same with the apple a. m water. It is like there's a naming department that can keep a secret. I agree studios san sense better so these headphones they're very expensive. They're five hundred and fifty dollars despite that they're basically sold out until march if you try to buy a pair now it'll say twelve to fourteen weeks shipping time so even despite the price very popular you can actually go and watch him hd. And i just actually have these. They did initial videos unboxing and some initial thoughts. I'll put those links in show notes as well just kind of a quick specs. These are over the ear cups headphones controls on these. It is all physical controls. There's a large digital crown on one of the earcups that you'll use to adjust volume or you can press it down for siri. And then there's also another button to go from transparency to noise cancelling mode so they have a lot of the features of the airpods pro. They have spatial audio. They can do dolby. Atmos and seven point. One surround virtually in the headphones. So that's all very cool but a couple of the noticeable omissions will say no power brick in the box so with your five hundred and fifty dollar headphones. You do not get a powerbook to charge you. Do get a cable. You get a usb c a lightening cable so you can charge it with one of the twenty usb c charging that apple will sell you but it also does not come with the cable to physically connect these headphones to an audio source. If you would like that you have to pay an additional thirty five dollars for a lightning. Two three and a half millimeter cable to plug into an audio source and again the fact that they went with lightning on instead of usb bbc. I'm not sure i feel about that. But those are the omissions and again on that price tag at least put the cable in there. I don't know that's just me. What do you feel wind. Packwood's and i agree with you. That seems wrong. I know we got loose. Packers have old ones. So i don't know how much use they would be i. It never occurred to me to think about a physical connection with this their wireless headphones release anything else. But actually yeah. If i am a musician pro use a full who. This is a bargain but a worthwhile cost. I'm likely to want to better connection wireless bluetooth so yeah on quite taken aback. Especially if you cross into that audio file realm and one of things. I'm going to do with it I did order a pair though becoming tuesday. So i'll be able to talk about him on next week's episode personally but i'm actually a classical music fan. I don't think i've ever share this with amish on the podcast. But i'm a classical trumpet player. That's my wife degree. yes i love. Actually listening to classical music. Believe it or not and so. I'm very curious to see how these sound. On some of those mozart requiems and brahms symphonies at to see the audio quality is really up to snuff. But for five hundred fifty dollars should sound amazing. You know per se. Obviously this is in comparison and in competition with headphones. Like the sony w.h. Xm fors which usually cost like three hundred. Three hundred and fifty dollars was like attuned dollar premium for these and the bose noise cancelling headphones seven hundred are very popular. Those are around three hundred and forty dollars. So you're getting two hundred to two hundred and fifty dollar premium to pay for these airpods. Max so i really hope have to imagine that the sound quality is excellent. But you're also paying for apple's features like the h. One chips the ability to the noise. Cancelling connect your devices seamlessly switch just like other airpods and airpods pro another cool feature to the cups. The ear cushions that are on the headphones are actually connect magnetically. And so if you want to replace the earcups for whatever reason they come off very easily and attach very easily as well and hd shows that had his video looks pretty satisfying and you can also get replacement ear cushions again. Not cheap but seventy bucks on apple you can actually order them now in the apple store and on their website but you can get replacement cushions for seventy dollars again in the future if you need them and you can mix and match colors. There's actually a cool chart you know if you will have to get the space gray headphones and put some blue cushions on it. You can be fancy like that if you'd like but again you're paying a premium for all these. I don't know. I'm curious to try them. But these don't tempt you at all as i once used the bose actions that you mentioned don. I was very impressed on. I do like us. I'm more of a malla guide. The mets on no. It doesn't tempt me. Except there is one thing this one specification you've just kind of lewd to skipped a very good. That is crucial. What color did you buy on. I won't with space gray because the size of these. I mean they're large. They're over the ear headphones. And i like to be discreet when i'm around other people the rare times that happens and so white white was tempting. But i don't have so much you know every other airpod is white and i didn't like the green or the pinkish red color. Blue was the only other one that tempted me. But i don't know. I just went discreet. I want black now. You wouldn't touch. That's what it is so next day. Jiang at a party somewhere. Nobody's gonna notice because she didn't have blue headphones. That's what i would have gone full blitz. Obviously the blue did look very nice. i was tempted. Also attempt to engrave these. I've actually never engraved an apple product. I don't know why i just have never done. It and i was very close to engraving these. But i had a moment of. I don't know what to put on them. And i know shipping. Times are gonna slip. So i just four went the engraving and just sorta without. But i'm curious william. Have you ever engraved an apple product. No because of always thoughts. And i'm gonna pass it on somebody else or might resell it to somewhere right. So it's been like having a set to somebody on their name. Just you break up with something. It feels wrong in a weird way. It feels like it's studies the the pristine finish of the device as well especially if you wanna resell it. That definitely makes it more difficult but I know you have tons of tattoos. You have sleeves don't you. Have you have tattoos all over please. I'm not illustrated unless you know what you said about coming up with something to say. I know whatever. I had written on me. I would change my mind magic instantly and want to me. I did work with a young writer. Who said she was aiming to have some text for every significant part of her life tattooed on and i wished to long life and much fatness so that you have room okay. Well staying on the grieving for a second. I saw that in addition to letters you can actually engrave emojis on apple products. Now you can choose emojis if you'd like. So here's my question to you william. If you could engrave any emoji apple device what emoji do you think you would choose. Would it be the winking smiley face sticking out the tongue or would it be money flying away. What do you think is the money involved here with page to do this. I give you twenty bucks. Yeah i need more need more. I need a lot more needs to pay for the hedge funds and then i feel that's nice cost parlance I'm i'm a writer. I can't bear emojis next. Particularly i had a message from a singer songwriter. I profoundly admire but it was all in emojis. And i have no idea what she was saying. It was just. I think it's gonna start communicating with you william. I'm gonna do all emojis from now on well good by sending emerges did not sending me pat. That's where you're going wrong. You sending the wrong listen. Listen we'll see when that when the next ipad comes out the battery life on my ipad. I don't know what's going on but it is I don't know. It's a little rough. When i edit podcast. It's great at any at any other time. So that new model comes out. I don't know we'll see you keep playing this long game gas lighting me. I'll just send it off without even thinking about it.

"I got a question for you. Are you doing fan. Bob dylan fan. I'm okay with them. But i'm not a hardcore you bet. If you're if you don't like dylan you better get ready. Because you're going to hear a lot more dylan. I'm telling you why. After i tell you about shed concrete this homeowners and builders out there you know what i'm gonna tell you. My brother-in-law greg at the folks that shake crete they have a huge selection of pre cast concrete steps. You got to check this out. There's a tv commercial. Would meet in it and you get to see all the great steps that they have to offer but you can do that on the website you can stop by and see whether you're building a new home where you need to replace an old staircase. Shay has great vibes with designs for any home. They're veiling concrete. You can customize your steps with beautiful stone granite or brick. New staircase can dramatically upgrade the front entrance of your home. Maybe that's tom brady. Inches el ni. They can't seem to unload. There's little bungalow thirty three million dollar home. Maybe they have to upgrade the steps. That's how you do it. Most cases can remove your old stairs and heavy walking a new set of front steps within hours. And just like that. Your host looks better houses worth more and maybe trying to sell it. Maybe it helps you sell it. It's new steps they can. They can really help you move that old home and make it look better and so quicker you can learn more about chase pre cast concrete steps steps at a concrete dot com to stop by one of their four state of the ad for scillies. All over new england. I bob dylan. And i love these stories because this this is what the taylor swift it. Which means that they will wake up and actually have some interest in this topic. Talking about my girl taylor. Swift sold her music catalog to what's his name scooter braun. Oh yeah and then complains. After bob dylan sold his music library for three hundred million dollars. That's right And by the way He sold is popularly. Seventy eight which is another one of those amazing miracles. The bob dylan still around still kicking. Well did you hear what he said about this jerry region. But here's what's going to happen you me. We'll be watching You know football game. We're watching wednesday night football thursday night football tuesday night. Football game mini mini games That around these days and there's gonna be a commercial for flow or he'll be commercial for you name it Gimme gimme some tv for apple apple. Lot of apple commercials. That's a good one apple amazon target. And it'll be Some of my friend is blowing in the wind blowing in the wind or something blue. What's blue some blue jet blue. And they'll be tangled up in blue. You'll go what bob dylan. His stuff is going to be of vera readily available companies to put in tv commercials. Because bob dylan sold out. It's bob dylan's if you don't like it if you think you know that he's Not that kind of guy that he wouldn't ever seventy-nine by the way he sold out. He took the money. God bless him his family's gonna why he needs the money but his family is going to be fabulously wealthy for generations but companies like target nap bullen and whatever flow what is flow sell insurance. Press gress yes i defense. They're going to be able to play. Dylan's pay whatever the going rate is and they could play it and you'll hear it all over the place just like you here. You know the rolling stones in some cases or taylor swift and other artists who was amazing. When i read the story it was about some of the other artists of fleetwood. Mac sold theirs for like. I get the number here here. It is eighty million dollars they sold. It wasn't even the whole catalog eighty million dollars. Fleetwood mac and dillon skate. Like columbine could probably name more wallflower songs and he can bog way. Bob dole i. It's right over my head. I have no idea i look. I'm surprised he got three hundred million. Based on the fact that that ship has sailed a long time ago dylan receives a lump sum between two hundred and four hundred I'm not sure what the what. The stevie nicks sold their publishing catalog for eighty million dollars. The dylan portfolio six hundred songs while other bands who have sold their catalogs sold. You know taking the money. Blondie barry manilow and the estates of john lennon and kurt cobaine. I believe john lennon the beatles. Paul mccartney bought them for like a ridiculous amount of money Like eight hundred million. Paul mccartney owns well. Didn't jackson by michael jackson and then mccray jackson and a falling out story there. But there's only one to look up jerry. Three hundred million eighty million two hundred to four hundred million. What did what did brian. Wilson's father sell the beach boys catalogue for another against the wishes without the kids. Even knowing and i think he sold it for like seventy dollars and a coke or something new never spoke to his father again obviously but if the beach boys is the one you would want because of the catchy jingles. Yeah that's true point and that the father sold it for nothing. He had no idea what he had. And what the value of wasn't a guy goes. Hey i'm gonna dig deep here. I'll give you five hundred dollars. Whereas i sold and brian wilson was never the same after it happened. It's a good point. But i think dylan's got a lot of those you know catch even though they you know might be whatever. The revolutionary songs at times they are a change in blowing in the wind and songs like that which will which will fit nicely in commercials. And we'll be sick of them all with and i'm sure he had control over it and limited the exposure but i guarantee you. He sold the rights to some two songs to some commercials. I assume right Yeah i guess. So i mean i don't blame me if you're gonna die soon and you wanna take care of you. Offspring kids grandkids. You say. What the hell. What do i care if not be capitalizing on all the different changes that are going on in the music industry. I bet it's like a five person team that he has controlling the catalog right. Like it's a he. He owns time. Bob no one said a need the money for anything the the couple couple of years ago. Long before covid were dylan on went on tour and performed at three hundred nights in a year three hundred nights in one year deal and he was like seventy five and i don't know anyone that went to see him. He wasn't playing the big rooms anymore but he's just addicted to performing and singing his songs and i must have just an insane amount of money already. I mean just. But it's like what bob cousy sold all his Collectibles always memorabilia. He said what do i need it for. This is going to pay for my grandkids education. And can you blame him for that. I wouldn't. I'm a big lira. Guy when it comes to rock and roll. If you consider dylan rock and roll and dylan for what i again. He's not my bag particularly. I don't have any bob dylan on my phone. But his his lyrics. If back on my i always think that you know if you get ten best lyrics of all time. You don't need a whether they know which way the wind blows is one of the great lines right and i'm with you. I'm a lear. Emma word man to and i love you know singing along to whatever tangled up in blue and he. He won the nobel prize for whatever writing. Poetry didn't show up for the award. You know. I believe. I believe greta thune. Berg was second so she'd go toward for him but no he won the nobel prize. I think he blew the market and show up to get the thing and these the only singer or songwriter to win to win it

Google Photos now charges, so what to do?

"Dot com slash talking. You may have heard many people ranting this week about google which chains its plans for google photos for five years. Google has told us. Hey upload everything for free and the will not charge you well now that they've got four trillion of our photos. They change their mind on that in june. It's going to start charging a minimum of the dollar ninety nine per month. Probably a lot more for folks to be able to upload and access their photos on google photos. i'm mad. I assume you are too. And i'm not gonna use google photos anymore. I'm done the question for many people is so what now. Well let's run through the options. Amazon photos is probably the next best. Step anybody paying one hundred and nine hundred dollars. Yearly for prime membership to get the faster shipping and entertainment also get free unlimited photo storage now. Amazon photos is not as easy to use as google photos. It's not as easy to use. His icloud for prime is a good place to go. My recommendation though is created albums. So that you'll be able to find the photos. Don't just throw everything up there. Apple icloud over. A billion of us have iphones. And we're taking zillions of pictures and we're getting next from apple all the time saying that we've run out of room They can do something about that but they don't want to because they want to sell you this online storage program which starts at only a dollar fifty gigs. Which is really tiny. Three dollars for two hundred gigs or ten dollars. Monthly for two terabytes. I've got forty terabytes on my desk. So that shows you where i'm at. I don't know about you. But i do not like getting nag messages from apple. So i'm not an icloud. Fan dropbox very simple. They're not they're not trying to sell you advertising. They're not trying to sell you other products very simply ten dollars a month for two terabytes which is great microsoft microsoft. Three sixty five seventy dollars a year for one terabyte which is not enough but you also get access online access to word excel outlook and powerpoint back to google. Here's how much. Google charging ten dollars a month for two terabytes or fifty dollars monthly for ten terabytes. And don't forget that your storage also includes g mail. Google docs google drive all of it. I believe that my g mail is forty gigabytes. And i don't have the years to be able to sit there and start deleting like a madman. So i pay and i'm not happy. The best deal in town. Best deal in. Town is smug and flicker smug mangas aimed at pros and photographers. Who are really into it. And flicker is for the general. Crowd flicker is sixty dollars a year. Unlimited photo storage. Smug mug starts at fifty five dollars yearly unlimited photo storage. So again apple is and twenty dollars. A year for two terabytes smug magas fifty five dollars a year with unlimited photo storage. Does the best deal in town. They need to do a better job of letting people know about this. Now if you don't wanna do online storage there's always hard drives. That's good and bad. You get a lot more room on a on a traditional spinning disc car drive but they will eventually fail. You can pick up an. At drive for about one hundred fifty dollars

Xbox Doesn't Need Bethesda on PlayStation

"One is one that was breaking as we went live from a little boy named Steven Tolo over a cocoon. He has a giant interview with Phil Spencer, covering all manner of xbox series x the future game pass you name it but he also talks to him about Bethesda. I'm calling this one xbox doesn't need Bethesda on playstation. We will start in progress than jump a bit further during our forty eight minute chat. We covered those machines, of course, the next gen ones and a lot more ballooning game file sizes, the Bethesda deal and how Microsoft plans do enable next Gen gaming on current Gen Consul first let's talk about xbox series snl. Going to talk that now, joining them deeper for the things of course, Stephen does great work. This is a fantastic interview Phil. You should go check it out in Kentucky. But jumping into the Bethesda stuff it's ought to talk to a console maker about launching two consuls at once, but it's even stranger to be talking to them about a game company they just bought for seven point, five, billion dollars such are the peculiar times we live in in September Microsoft said it was buying cinemax the parent company of Bethesda in software and other top-flight studios that makes the likes of fall out of that might make the likes of fallout the other schools in doom. The planned purchase Amelie bolstered Microsoft's roster of internal studios. The deal will cap off the company's generation long shopping spree in attempt to counter the reps of rival Sony and unintended Oh which have both been long regarded as having stronger internal game making operations. The expanded roster of games also gives Microsoft a lot more content to bundle into their popular netflix style game pass subscription service in offer the via. The company's game streaming service, which lets players access games remotely in play them on their phones tablets devices. Spencer. That said in previous interviews that existing deals involving xanax Games would still be honored suggesting something like the time traveling game death loop will still come I. Two five is previously announced beyond that though fans have been beyond by have been wondering whether it's a Max Games would go xbox NPC only in other words they've wondered if playstation would stop getting fall-outs in miss out on the sequel. I wondered that to quote, is it possible to recoup? A billion dollar investment. If you don't sell elder scrolls six on playstation I asked says Stephen Yes it's been spencer quickly replied then he paused. I don't WanNa be flip about that. This deal was not done to take away from another player based like that nowhere in the documentation that we put together was, how do we key players other players from playing these games? We want more people to be able to play games, not fewer people to be able to play to go play games but also say in the Model I'm not I'm just answering directly the question that you that you had when I think about where people are going to be playing the number of a and the number of devices that we had and we have cloud and. And Game Pass and our Council base I don't have to go ship those games on any other platform other than the platforms that we support in order to make. An order to kind of make the deal work for. US, whatever that means end quote. We do know that Microsoft has made big studio purchase. has made a big purchase and kept his new franchise multi-platinum formed before that's what they did with Mo Yang and it's game minecraft. So it wouldn't be wild to see at five on playstation five period for now Spencer said the platforms for future is games will be determined on a case-by-case basis, and even if they make the Games multi-platform, Spencer's team can still boast in advantage cinemax games could be sold at full price on playstation, but offered at a large discount on the xbox platform is part of the ten dollars a month game pass subscription, a killer deal that already grants players launched a access to every new Microsoft published game. That was lots of read only. I'm sorry to make you just sit there and listen, but it's context to argument. We've all been having on a variety of podcast what this deal actually means. Elaine, what do you think do we see Bethesda Games the CINEMAX games now xbox games on playstation five in the future I would assume. So just because of the like logistical crap. Back End. Anytime money is involved with anything games. You are guaranteed that there's GonNa be some exclusivity of some kind. So that's what I would assume but as a game developer like. Like how Abbas many platforms as our games can be on the better us because that means we're reaching the most people. I have heard you know people who are so vested in the xbox ecosystem. Danny on earlier I've heard him talk about I've heard Paris talk about it effort all manner of conversation about this, and it's interesting to see the different sides people go to. Of course, it'll be multi platform, and then of course, it won't be you have this investment you seven point five, billion dollars right? Like why would you ever give that up and I? I. Find Myself Torn because I can make a case either way if I was a betting man right now at the, we're not even into the next generation. We don't know how these systems are going to run away. We don't know who's going to be the industry leader in how game pass nuts out. So and so forth. I would say that, yes, you will see the Bethesda Games you think of your big ones you're fall-outs your sky rooms, the ones with giant fan bases on other platforms being in that being playstation of course, because I do think that what Stephen Hits on at the end here is so powerful that if you are a fallout fan, if you are Sky Room Fan in, you are die hard for that franchise. Wouldn't you WANNA play it in the best place in the cheapest place to play it like I. Feel like xbox is making this argument that even if they put it on. And it was coming to playstation five and it is seventy dollars or you can pay fourteen dollars game pass ultimate stream it wherever you want play all these other hundreds of great games do all these different things. Again, this is the C. B. Unabashed in your marketing. This is the council we designed it for. This is where there's bells and whistles and were able to make use of all the teraflops and everything else the xbox series x can do like. Even though your advertising than it is on playstation for me that makes sense to hey, this is why you need to buy an xbox. Am I wrong? I mean, from my developer standpoint I, don't like to be honest I don't. I don't care. Side. Please listen listen like when it comes to studios making games like regardless, we need to buy developer kids for all consoles. And to like look at it from the perspective of studio whether they are owned by a parent company or not. There is financial conversations any to be had what if cool you have seven billion dollars by being an exclusive of Microsoft right because of that whole transaction. But what if you have the door open for another seven billion? branching off from other different console. So why wouldn't you take the fourteen billion and just go with a seven? So like to me like a as a developer that's what I would think of That's all executive decisions by the way US developers have. frigging say in any of this. But I could definitely say from the developer perspective having franchises that have already been established like scarring and having a the ability to understand how they work in different consoles than. Or even importing that stuff to a very specific console that has very specific hardware and perhaps very specific requirements. That's definitely GONNA be a challenge for of studios and that happened with a PS three actually that I recently found out. That the PS three, that architecture was so difficult. Was Terrible. Exactly. It was so difficult that like games like there had really tough time studios making cancer, the PS three, which is now what makes sense that we can have backwards compatibility specifically with three because it was a frigging nightmare to to deal with on the back end so i. Was a great example of that. If you remember. Sky. Room. Right was incredibly broken the longer. You played the way that game watch compiled information eventually made it unplayable and drop the frame rate and it took them forever to fix. That wasn't a quick fix but it wasn't you're talking about of working with different architectures and trying to figure all this out. Yeah. So let's To me in my mind that is number one concern when it comes to all these franchises like is it possible to to do the franchise and Change Architecture of the entire game works so that it works on that council specifically or can we what we call re factoring, which is reusing things that have been done before can reactor so that we can continue to stay on the next generation of the councils that we work with before So it's it's a lot to. Think. About. Nearing, like. Many Kudos in the engineering teams all over the Games industry because they definitely have to deal with a lot of crap that they are not given credit for when it comes to figuring hundred. These Situations Making Games is incredibly difficult and I think all of us is fans. Yeah. You know it as being a developer eighty line meteorite like you see it from side that I only interview people talk over drinks with people about like I hear these horror stories and can't imagine a day to day, and then not even a removed the horror stories from it just in general making magic from nothing like making games is a magical thing and we totally take that for grant. We totally don't give that credit, take it for granted. Yeah, and sit there like, Oh, well, why did they just hit the button in Puerto over and make this work and how hard could it be to go between the PS five in an xbox series x Can Be the difference of the night and day Ryan because I terry. Systems are to hardware. So

Chromecast with Google TV can finally take on Roku and Fire TV Stick 4k

"Veiled the guys last week and got a little lost in the shuffle with the nest audio and Pixel. Five debuts. So what's new what the chrome cast? So the big thing with the crown cast is that it now has a remote and an interface. Those are two long awaited features. You no longer have to rely solely on your phone or tablet or computer to take Netflix's Surg, Youtube and put it onto your TV and I mean, talk a little bit about some of the features on that remote, as well as the interface what what is new about it and is it was it like to us? So I guess we'll break this onto two things we'll start with what's new a google system is very present on the new chrome cast. There's a dedicated assistant button it actually is in a different hue on the remote stands out. It's Pretty active as far as being the interface as well, and you can actually control most of the chrome cats functions with Google system, which is great it really it does a nice job as far as what else is new beyond the interface remote that really covers the bulk of it. There's also Dobie vision and they'll be utmost if you have a compatible TV and sound system. What about that Google TV experience I know it's a revamped version of what they previously called Android TV what's different about it like how and how does it work? So it's kind of new for you page. So the big the big push with. Google TV is a new interface it a new layout that looks more like a Amazon's fire TV. than the old way, which had you basically scrolling through each apps now there's Content in the four as opposed to each APP having it's own separate. Column. Ero-. and. It makes it a lot easier to use it. It's designed to help you find things to watch. As. Opposed to mindlessly scrolling through. Netflix. And then scrolling through prime video or HBO or any of the other many streaming APPs that are available a lot. This seems like upgrade or anything you don't like about this thing. So I had a couple moments where it lacked it wasn't as fast as say Amazon's fire TV, stick four K., which is a similarly. Priced. Streaming dangle. That has Alexis Google Assistant. Random issues where assistant where if I asked to watch them a big marble and so I'd asked to watch avengers infinity war and it would start playing on. Youtube. TV through TBS which has the broadcast rights or the cable rights rather as opposed to recognizing that I subscribed to Disney plus and playing it in four K. on Disney plus subscription. So it just doesn't assistant doesn't always know right now what the best way to watch a particular show movies. It also had a weird issue where unofficial. Weird issue. But you can't actually power this or I wasn't able to power this off of the USB port on my television. I had to use the included seven and a half. Watt Power after which I don't know about you, I like plugging these things directly into the TV running off the USB power it's less cables to see it's easier to to install not having to find an empty outlet. And the fact that this at least with my lg Ola that I was testing into couple years old the old lead, but it's still a fairly recent TV. The fact that wouldn't power and function off of what was provided from the USB port was a bit surprising. Yes. Someone who has his roku plugged into the USB poor of his TV, I can definitely appreciate the need for something like that because it cuts down on the number wires behind your TV. And living in a household with multiple kids you WanNa have as few wires as possible. So that's kind of annoying. Setback. But you know that that that's not the biggest deal you talked about Google assistant and how it's front and center in this Did you find when you were using this? You're using Google system a lot more or were you reverting back this year? The traditional way you'd use remote control, right just the using the standard volume channel of Buns or like how how did having assistant on their control changed the way you interact with this change in the couple is so. Big in the ANDROID. Google TV. Sorry interfaces for you page which I guess it's a personalized page based off of shows and movies that you like and. Content that you traditionally watch and what is recommending was actually pretty good. That's the default homepage. Ties in necessarily to the assistant the ties to some that personalization aspects I find that to be pretty useful as far as what Google is doing there, and for the assistant director part the voice portion of it. I found myself constantly using assistant to open APPs or two. I was using TV and fan. So just to switch between football and the Yankee game saying. Okay Google the key game in having automatically switched to the right channel. Was Super Helpful and it was doing this regardless of whatever APP was in. So I was watching something on Netflix are on regular youtube and I wanted to see what was going on the Yankee game I'd say Okay Google hold the button down okay Google go to the Yankees game and it would do that. Sometimes it took a few seconds to do that at one point I timed. It knows over ten, which for live TV is pretty bad. Ten second wait between when you want to go somewhere say you WanNa go somewhere and when it actually appears. that needs to improve tremendously, and it wasn't that I had a bad internet connection I have couple hundred megabits per second more on testing. So that needs to improve at otherwise the assistant has been great to use an pretty surprised to say that because voice assistance on these streaming devices. Has Been At least in my experience a bit more hit or miss. So taken together with all these new features, their control and just to clarify. Cost, fifty dollars and that's that's more than the previous rate it is. Go to models previously, there was a chrome cast macroom castle tre. So this does pretty much everything. The chrome cats ultra does the higher end I believe it was seventy dollars model that now's only available in a stadium bundle for now studios actually coming to. Chrome cast with Google TV, this new device, but it's not coming until sometime officially in the believe first half of twenty twenty one. So sometime, next year. So this is actually cheaper. The matter is more expensive than the HD, only chrome cast but that for I believe it was thirty dollars, lacks the interface lacks a remote lacks four case for twenty dollars more you get all that plus the ability to run all these APPs without having to rely on your phone computer tablet. Got It. So taking all together, the price, the new features, the remote control, how does this stack up against similar option from Roku, Amazon through its fire TV line so that's a great question. It really depends on what world you live in. That's how look at this. If you are somebody who has a lot of Amazon devices, I'm not gonNA say the word because I don't want to trigger things. If you have a lot of those devices and you're very much in the Amazon World The fire TV stick four K. is excellent. It's faster than this. The election degration sorry said that word is not as strong as Google, assistant. But it is a very capable, very impressive device. If you have a lot of apple devices roku streaming stick plus which is forty dollars is an equally compelling option especially when it has play which roku announce, the other week is coming at some point soon. So it really depends on where you you find yourself if you just want all the APPs and this has hbo Mac, which is something that Amazon, Roku currently lack. This is not a bad option. Yeah. That was the fault question there because there's been a lot fusion about which streaming services are available on in which dreamers. The generally, the chrome cast is pretty much covered for all your services, the croome cast with Google TV, because they're still regular chrome cast being sold. This one has I would say out of the major ones ninety, nine percents of is missing. Apple. TV plus. Is available on Roku Amazon, and of course, the Apple TV if you want something that currently has everything you have to get an apple TV. Apple TV. For K., but those I think the Apple TV fourcade currently hundred eighty dollars or so. So you have to pay a sizable upgrade plus some pretty old hardware at this point has been rumored to be prepping new boxes of some kind. Were to do that for a while maybe comes out your maybe it doesn't through kind of all over the map there. But that's the only one that has every major streaming service Google has everyone but apple TV plus roku Amazon have everyone bought Hbo Max so it really depends. You S reviewer I'm just curious how you put these things which pesos what is the review process look like especially when you're doing this at home It's a lot of watching. TV. And a of watching movies and seeing how it performs. In a variety of different settings. So different TV's different picture options with different content sources so Disney plot for example, on the Google TV doesn't stream currently until be vision but Netflix does have some content available in dolby vision and will be. Available on the chrome cast with Google TV. So it's it's comparing different things. It's comparing the performance of those content sources to how a roku streaming stick plosser Amazon Fire TV stick for K.. Would handle playing back that particular movie or TV show or piece of live. Content TV's sports. And just comparing and contrasting to watching that sounds like a really tough job. Ultimately is worth. Fifty dollars I think. So if you again keeping in mind that. The exact situation will vary if you like Apple TV, this is not the option for you. If you have a very big Amazon household you wanted to tie in. Really. Well to your rings. And to some of your other Amazon devices. This isn't the option for you. if you want to do airplay, this isn't the option trio. But if you want something that's simple that has a solid interface that has really good remote and isn't that expensive at fifty dollars is a pretty good choice.
