Warriors Reject Sixers’ Steep Asking Price for Ben Simmons
"Sixers are asking the Warriors per keep pumping, who covers the sixties for The Philadelphia Inquirer for Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, the seventh pick in tonight's draft, the 14th pick in tonight's draft. And to future first round picks. So four first round picks. Wiggins and Wiseman. Basically That's six first round picks if you think about it. 7 14 to future. Wiggins was an early first round pick, and James Wiseman was just the second pick in the draft. So if you want to say, because Wiggins played in the league for a little bit hit, and he's kind of been underwhelming. Wise, but at least they're still has that potential. Even after his first season, it's basically Wiggins And five first round picks for Ben Simmons. If I'm the Golden State warriors. I'm glad they said no. And I don't think that price is going to be met for Ben Simmons.
NFL Draft: Players Selected in the First Round
"With Aaron Rodgers wanting out of Green Bay, according to reports a night that ended with pick number 32, the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers going with AH, linebacker from Washington, Joe try on and there's a lot more to come. And there was a lot that was jammed in between those two big events. I thought it was really cool to thieve. The number of Alabama products six of them in the first round, which ties the record set by Miami. Back in 2004. I was thrilled to see Devante Smith go at number 10. Overall, The Eagles actually moved up to get in which I think is neat and they traded with E. Dallas Cowboys, their NFC East rival to grab Devante, and he's impressed me not only on the field, but off the field as well. Patrick's or Tan Hey, was sporting an incredible pink suit, though, is a lot to like about what we saw with the Alabama contingent. But also did you know it's the first time in any NFL draft that seven Players from one side of the ball were taken with the first seven picks in a row. Seven offensive players Bing Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing Bing Bing, first time that's ever happened where one side has had the first seven picks in a rose. There's a lot to

"Here? Go home already. Sunny Friday. Thanks for hanging out with us. We'll talk more about the NFL draft here in just a moment. You could always hop in 803 Oh, 5 58 85 52 5 50 will get a little bit The last time you watch Ferris Bueller Day off a couple weeks ago. It's always on. Yeah, Couple always. It's always on love it. I mean, there's so many things to love about that movie. I mean, I love it so much I've seen like the reels behind the scenes. Two hour Special on Ferris Bueller and the making of Ferris Bueller. Great movie. OK, thumbs up. Here we go. Standing by on our Western hotline is four Nystrom. He is the lead draft analyst for NBC Sports Edge And he's with us right now. Thor, It's Howard and Jeremy. Happy week before Christmas for you. We are almost there, Gentlemen. How you doing this morning? Good doing good. Doing good. Just trying to adjust like we're you know, we're dealing with here. Thor word. I'm adjusting to waiting like four hours for the bills to make a pick. You know exactly. Yeah, absolutely. Bills possibilities. I want to run some positions by you and I want to get your thoughts on the specific players. The idea of a running back where we've been talking about that at the bottom of round 12 names that are typically brought up in this discussion, or Travis Ctn and Nagy Harris, if both are on the board Who would you prefer there? And why? As a fit for the bills. For me. It was for sure Be Nauset just because of the ability to do different things and the efficiency that he brings to an offense. Just ridiculous. Obviously, the running is one aspect, but they're really cool thing about it about him. For me that transcends that. Is when you have nausea hair is you basically get it second tight end on the field when you're passing just ridiculous dimensions as far as like his wing span, you know, it's his frame stuff like that, in the ball skills are just ridiculous for her running back, so and I think you know a Zafar is Buffalo exactly what they needed. It would remind me sort of the chief's taking Edward, you layer on Lee. Harris is for sure, a better prospect. What do you think of E? T s or what? I'm sorry. Go ahead, Jeremy. No, I was just gonna say like on this topic. Thor. You know, we we've talked about these bags and you won't hear anything about ET en, um, the the idea of not drafting first round running bags, You know, it's kind of frowned upon in the smart circles, but I want your take on that in general because the 30th pick is not the fourth pick or the seventh pick. So, um, I mean for us in our conversation. I think we are approaching it a little bit differently, but acknowledging that there's there's a big school of thought out there that you just don't know generally do it. Yeah, for sure. And they're there. Most certainly is. And by the way, I mean, like it has an analytic backing. You know that that idea? It's not just like a, You know, a cliche or you know something like that. But, you know, as you mentioned What Once you get to the end of the first round, the equity is is certainly a lot less than it is, you know, higher up, and then there's certain situations where certain teams are on the precipice off. You know whether it's a championship or whether it's Get into that, you know, consistent, you know, being there, and it sort of reminds me again of the Chiefs where it was like they sort of. They didn't have a lot of needs when when they were picking at that time and that you know the apocryphal, so I don't think it's an apocryphal story that you know what they said was like afterwards. Like They went to my home and was like, you know which running back to you like, and he was like, Clyde. I mean, bill situation right now. You're in a great spot because the bills don't have many needs right like that. You know that. That the roster is an enviable lot of teams in the league. And because of that, that puts you in a situation where well, man, our biggest weakness might be a running back and Harris. If you talk about like running back to, you deserve to go in the first round. I mean, you know for me, It's actually Harrison Devante Williams. I have I have eaten and just slightly behind that. And just speaking to ET en like that, you know the idea of him and and with the buildings up. I like the fit of nausea and enjoy Vontae, but by the way a lot better for the bills. Then then MPM ET and he's a good player. He's definitely good prospect, but he reminds me so much of Reggie Bush. It was like watching Reggie Bush to point it at Clemson. Too good in the back. Right. And so like, I think you're gonna get a very similar thing in the NFL, where it's that North South explosion is his special sauce. He made a lot more people look silly in the SEC with that, then I think he's gonna you know in the NFL. Those skills will play down a little bit. If Arthur was here, you've got a lot better. He was unplayable on third down the first two years of his career, and he worked really, really hard on it. But at this point the yards he's getting it's all basically that acceleration in space off of screen passes. He's not doing Elvin Camara things which is like The common thing that people talk about it. You get that calm. Sometimes he is not his policies. The receiver is a guy like Calvin. Come on. So for me, e Cheon is more of like, you know, he would be like a mid second round pick guy to me. I want to. I think a lot of bills fans would love to hear you talk about cornerback because if you want to try, and if you could, if you look at the Bills roster, and you want to say, Where is there a hole or hold, you would point out cornerback? They don't have an every down player opposite of Trey White. So At the bottom around one. What's the What's the depth of the cornerback group? What kind of guys would be available at that spot If they go in that direction? Who are we talking about? Yeah, So the top for the classes is sort of. You know, the classic like, you know, the sort of four man and then you drop those those names. Of course. Patrick should stand J. C. Orange, Caleb Farley and Greg Newsom. I wouldn't expect any of those guys to be available to the bills picked There's an outside like, you know, a remote shot that either Newsome or Farley does. Farley could slide because of the back. I don't think he applied that if he if he got there, because of that, I would read that card it if I was the bells that Farley could become the best cornerback in this class. Newsome. I think he's just too smart and athletic and last season you get a really good cuz I just don't think he gets there..
No. 1 Alabama wins national title over No. 3 Ohio State
"BK. You guys. The Alabama Crimson Tide didn't just roll. They steamrolled Ohio State 50 to 24 last night in Miami to win the college football National championship with the victory. Bama head coach next seven, picks up his six title in Tuscaloosa, seventh all time and surpasses legendary Tide coach Paul Bear Bryant. I think coach Brian has, you know, sort of in a class of his own in terms of what he was able to accomplish what his record is, and I mean, he's the one that made Alabama and the tradition of Alabama a place where lots of players wanted to come say they've got some all time performances from his offense, including Heisman winning wide receiver Devante Smith, who said a championship game record with 12 catches Go along with 215 yards and three touchdowns, and he did it all in the first half, because you'd injure his hand early in the second half and be done for the night. His to be Mack Jones through five TDs completed 36 45 passes for 464 yards and running back now you Harris found the ends on three times as well. The rockers search for a new GM is taking a step

"Out kick the coverage with Clay Travis. I got all that sappy stuff out of the way. It's time to make you some money and the out kick six pack last week I gave you seven picks. They went three and four were having a pretty good run of it. And it wasn't a great week last week, but after going six and No, we didn't fall completely off the planet three and four in the seven picks, and I have got six winners for you right now, let's go ahead and cue the music. I was going to give me his feedback. We're going to see how this goes Ravens at Steelers. I like the Steelers minus four in this game. I just feel like the Raven offense is struggling in a big way, and that the Steeler defense is going to have a lot of success. We know we got running back issues, which puts even more of an onus on Lamar Jackson. I know the Steelers have won five games by seven or less. This number doesn't seem high enough to me. I am on the Steelers minus the four points Cardinals on the road against the Patriots. You guys know I love the NFC West. I love Cuyler Murray minus 2.5 at the Patriots. I don't think this Patriots offense has the horses to keep up with the Cardinals big statement game potentially From Cliff Kingsbury, Cuyler, Murray, DeAndre Hopkins. Everybody on this cardinal offense. I like the Cardinals to go on the road against the Patriots Get the wind chargers at the Bills. I love the Over 53 a half here, Josh Allen making a lot of play. Same thing is true of Justin Herbert. We know that the Chargers have found so many different ways to lose games that you thought they were potentially going to be able to win. I think both of these teams are going to go out and when on the offensive side of the ball a lot of yards, lot of movement. I like the over 53 a half and this one. Dolphins coming off of a tough loss to against bench they bring in Fitzpatrick. They're going on the road against the Jets. I feel like the Dolphins are going to get it done. Minus 6.5 at the Jets. I like the Dolphins to find a way to get it done in that game, the Saints and the Broncos. The under 45 In this game, I feel like again Saints with Taysom Hill. There's not gonna be a lot of razzle dazzle on the offense. I love the Saints defense, its gonna be low scoring close to the vest style game. I like the under into Saints Broncos and finally, big game chiefs going on the road against the bucks. I understand some people out there. Who believe that box they're gonna bounce back. I am not one of them. I like the chief's minus three to take care of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road in Tampa are a W just heard them all. Let's hit him all for you and let you give your a pick Your opinions on the out kick six Pack will start with Ravens Steelers Steelers are four point favorite. I got to disagree with this one. These two teams played not too long ago and the Steelers They got the win, but the Ravens out game them by a substantial margin. I think the Steelers were a bit fortune that game. Lamar Jackson. I believe that three or maybe even four turnovers. So if you could just keep the ball in possession. I like the Baltimore Ravens Chance back against the wall. I mean, this is a must win game if you're the Baltimore Ravens, so I'm gonna have to take the points there. Yes, See, I just think with Dobbins out and with the issues that are at play on this team, I just think there's some sin severe division related issues for lack of a better way of describing it. And so I feel like there's not Ah lot of positive vibes coming out, but I understand it. By the way NFL picks updating you on what we have done. We are 38. Let's see 38 23. On the year in the out, kick six pack, So we have done pretty fantastically well, 38 23 is where we're going there. Cardinals on the road against the Patriots. What do you think? I don't have a good feel for this one, and I don't really have a good feel for the Chargers and bills over, But I do. Strongly disagree with Miami going on the road lay in 6.5. I think the Jets this is the one game. I think the Jets can win this year to avoid going. Oh, in 16. The Jets have actually been pretty competitive the last two games. They almost beat the Patriots a couple weeks back in this past week, they had a chance with the ball in their hands down eight a chance to potentially tie the game against the Chargers. I think this is the week for the Jets, they finally get it done, they finally get a win. This could be the week that the Jets win and the Steelers lose. That could be a fun little Thanksgiving weekend parlay for some of those that would be so inclined Saints and Broncos under 45 Chiefs minus three at the box Chargers bills over 53 a half any of those games standing out. I love the New Orleans Denver under 45. I think the Saints defense is playing really, really well right now in the Denver Broncos offense is not the greatest. I think states play conservative, so I love this under here. There you have it. Break it all down. I want to thank you guys again. Encourage you to go download the podcast. We have had an.

Seattle Seahawks preparing for 'unique' experience of virtual NFL Draft
"Glitz no glamour at this year's NFL get together it will be a most unusual and unique draft tomorrow originally slated for Las Vegas but the corona virus pandemic because the league a plan instead of virtual graph from the homes of GM's and coaches for the Seahawks GM John Schneider coach Pete Carroll they've done this draft thing a time or two or ten and Carol says the experience they have will be key yeah I think there is we have a lot of familiarity and and obviously we've been through a lot so many scenarios and all that we feel pretty comfortable at right now we've been doing for so long with the staff and all that junk to work out of these guys though this is this is not uncomfortable for so long we've been we've been doing it you know we've had we've been practicing a whole lot because Randy meeting with the players soon in the same format the always unpredictable Seahawks have the twenty seventh pick in the first round as of this point yesterday the officially signed tight end Luke Willson defensive end Brandon Jackson at left guard Mike Iupati

It's the Panthers have traded up with the Seattle Seahawks now, and they are picking number thirty seven in the draft. And we will know who they picked shortly. Join us lie. Adding that to boom, boom, boom. You know? I will I'm going to warn you guys listening in. Now, I'm going to warn you if we trade it up to pick will Greer I'm going to die of laughter. I'm going to cackle and how and die. Oh, no. My brother just text me that there you go. I'm not sure if he's still at the draft or not. I mean. Some of making report what it is Jesus. Yes, soon as you know, let me know. So I can tell Walker because he's writing the the pick article. It's Greg little is it really. Yes. I'm just I'm trying to figure out what the compensation is. Thank you for telling me who it is. So I could let Walker now. I'm somewhat looking. Oh my God. Someone please tell me are you? Sure, it's little I'm hundred percent positive. Steve Regis reported. We're good there. But he, but no one knows what they traded up with. The Panthers traded pick forty seven pick seventy seven. Seriously, field Yates, what are you serious? Yeah. We traded. We traded to our next two picks to move up. Oh my God. I get forty seven because we had to swap second rounders that makes sense. But seventy seven is a steep price on hold on. Are you sure someone's saying it's a hundred? Field Yates say in it. I don't know. Guys like the pick. I love the pick. I don't know if I like the trade. Dude that is awful. Okay. Well, instant analysis of this is I I love the selection of Greg little I think it's a very good pick. He's a true left tackle, we need at least a left or right tackle. So we can keep Cam Newton safe. Depending on what the trade is. I don't know if I like that or not already trade gates is reporting that we gave up the seventy seven th pick as well. My god. Are you fucking kidding me? Do they gave it up? I'm looking at the SPN. The Panthers traded up to grab Greg little offense. Tackle my God. No, not a fancy hawks received pick thirty or traded pick thirty seven forty seven seventy seven..

"Four yards and thirty five touchdowns in only seven picks, but number two consistency. Wise only busted twenty five percent of the time which compared to the rest. Perfectly. It's totally fine compared to not Pat Mahomes and then seventy five percent. Good games. Forty four percent. Great games. He was he he was outstanding the season. It was weird because you got off to the worst start and say beware week one. Yes. You're not not only was this week one. But this was game one. This was the NFL opener kickoff game where everybody's eyes were on how bad Matt Ryan was to start the season. Michael Keaton was even watching that game. I hear you you add in how bad the falcons perform this. Yes. You know, they had all the injuries on defense. If for some reason, you don't believe that Matt Ryan really had a great year. But number two quarterback. I wrote him in our dynasty league to a championship. He and he's the type of guy that he didn't go in the first ten rounds. No look at this. If you throw out that first week, and you look at weeks two through ten he ever is the same. Or did you see it all hold on? The average the same amount of fantasy points as Patrick Mahomes, including seven you on performances. So from weeks to to ten you had the same thing as Patrick Mahomes production-wise and he killed bad defenses. Thirty two fancy points of games a game against bottom sixteen defenses twenty points against this Tom defenses now. Holy crap. Unbelievable all on hold on. Oh my gosh. It's everything I've ever dream all right is derailed. Man. Ryan, Matt take a bag seats. We can get back to Matt Ryan bring us in Brooks. This says to hide his face. This is unbelievable. Oh. Oh, this is great. He's on the set with us. Oh, can you? Put it down. Michael keaton. Join us. Wow. That is that is humongous. It's life size. How it looks fantastic. Oh my goodness. You and keep them. All right. So I don't even know for Matt Ryan we haven't we have another offensive coordinator change with Matt Ryan I now have to do the entire show looking at Michael Keaton. I'm better. So we've seen Matt Ryan struggled the first year. He has an OC when he had cautioned him when he had Sarkisian bad years second year in the system. He was ready to go. That's going to happen again. How are you? What's your comfort level Jason knowing that Matt Ryan's your your quarterback? The nice thing about Matt Ryan's offense coordinator, switch that you. You know is where you hope he's not going back to the wheel. And you've got to wait two years before he performs is that he's been with with this offense coordinator before this is not. Hey, let's just let's reinvent the wheel. I think is going to be great. I think Matt Ryan's gonna have a great. A year. I will say this part of in. This is this is part of Patrick Mahomes success and and every quarterback that has great touchdown success. Sometimes those touchdowns can swing the next year to the rushing game. And their loss of devante Freeman scares me a lot more for Matt Ryan future than the offense coordinator switch I think that when devante Freeman comes back. He will he will score eight plus touchdowns if he plays all year and the running game was putrid for touchdown scoring for Atlanta's Matt Ryan is not going to be in my top five one. But I'm still going to definitely top ten. Yeah. He'll-he'll be near the top ten and I'll he'll be a guy that still despite finishing number two. He will be a double digit round drafted guy. No one is going. No one's falling over themselves to get Matt Ryan. I think Keller really helps his floor immensely Kelham rarely come into year to a very talented player inconsistent. Yes. But that's just the product of being behind Julio Jones on the depth chart. But in terms of if Julio misses again, if he needs somebody else the capability to have a game three touchdown game for Calvin. Ridley it changed the equation for Matt Ryan. So I think bringing in a superstar like that makes all the difference in the world and we've seen what happens the Matt Ryan in years past when Julio Jones is gone. Matt Ryan just absolutely turns the dust for fantasy big been now Jason is left the room..

"Night in the Rams did not the eagles are never more dangerous than when they're underdogs. Ask injured safety Roddy McLeod, he came out of the tunnel before that game and a ski mask normally injured players are seen and not heard. This guy was seen heard and wearing a ski mask and he set the tone for the entire team and the entire night. But it's not about him. It's about Nick foles. And a question that I keep asking how many times is this guy going to save the eagles? How many times does he needs to bail them out before you believe that this guy's legit? All he did was lead them to a Super Bowl. And then win the Super Bowl last year. But then he gets the start last night. And everybody is clowning this guy all over again. Best example is this when the news came down? The Carson Wentz was out. The busted back the line. The line went from seven and a half to thirteen and a half. In other words, Nick foles was a two touchdown underdog. Again, that guy moved the line himself the wrong way, just by showing up clown. This guy all you want. But do so what you own risk because this it can play. He's been playing with the practice squad most of the year, but then just shows up and lights to Rams up. One clutch throw after another time after time he goes down, Sean Jeffrey and time after time in fact, eight straight times it worked perfectly and those two TD underdogs one thirty twenty three in the second. Biggest gambling line of set of the season. Meanwhile, we're exactly the Rams they're struggling Jared Goff. Especially is now. Struggling the guy who lit the league for most of the year has not been the same since he torched the chiefs in the last three weeks Goff has one TD and seven picks. That is the definition of struggling one TD seven picks. And you may never see a worse one. Then this off under center.

"What's up? Tony. Thought on the Heisman? I know you've been until you think it's going to be a runaway. Should be a runaway. I think calamari is gonna win it. I don't think he should. I don't know. How I don't know how you would give someone explained to me how he would be a better choice. Well, his his you gotta take it with a grain of salt because he's playing in the big twelve but his stats are actually better than to played on the team and did something that had never been done. Never lost a game in his career. Never team. Not no team in one hundred years did what Alabama. Did he led every game was won by twenty points in the regular season every single game? And he never played except one game. The Auburn game in the fourth quarter of game this year until and he got hurt in the SEC championship game. He set the all time quarterback rating in the history of the NCAA here. The highest quarterback rating of any quarterback in the history of the sport. How would he not win the Heisman Trophy? I think that the Heisman voters are going to fall in love with the fact that Kyla Murray put up astronomical numbers in terms of three hundred yards in the air and the only quarterback in history to have three hundred yards in the air and sixty yards on the ground league. That is a joke. They're fourteen point underdogs to Alabama in the play in a championship game. I think the two is the better pro prospect. Quarterback. I think he's going to win the Heisman, Mike. I think I think Colin Murray gonna win the s because people don't wanna give it to Alabama. I mean, that's the only reason you could ever use to his stats are better. Stats aren't better better quarterback rating tire. He didn't play in the fourth quarter. Did you want him to pile up stats in the fourth quarter against these teams? They're beaten by forty points. Of course, not. Well, that's. That's what they thought. He would have had to do to is stats will unbelievable this year. It may be because of the defense, and I'll give you that. But you look up calamari I'll give you the stats right now. And I'm telling you, do you think there's a lot of differences not to Murray's got bit of running stats. But who cares? If he runs for. He's got more three hundred yard games. And he's got better passing fat. The other guy didn't play in the fourth quarter Yahnici is a meaningless statistic completely meaningless statistic. It means it isn't your on each means. Absolutely nothing in college football, nothing. It has it has zero. Meaning to is that you're basing it on tour getting hurt in the Georgia game is what you basing it on to it stats for the season are. Are. He's got a quarterback rating of two hundred two point seven. He completed seventy four point six percent of his passes. Let me give you the whole thing. And I got to give you the touchdowns as. Thirty nine touchdowns in two picks. Have more touchdowns. I mean, I don't know what you know. What is it like to difference playing in a league that is three times as hard? I mean, if you're to judge this on their stats when one guy plays in a league that is an absolute joke with not a team that plays defense versus the SEC, which if Oklahoma's in the SEC, they'd be seven and five I mean, it just shows me that people who would vote and give him the Heisman have no idea of what they're looking at because the difference between the competition they play against is. So stock and then numbers are. You know, virtually virtually the same. I mean the kid runs for more yardage is really what you're looking at. That's really the only thing you know, he had a better championship game. He's playing against Texas. I mean, I just think you're gonna find a lot of voters that don't know what to talk about that. I listened to the first time I begged them to pick the Shawn Watson they didn't for two years. They wouldn't pick him. He won the national championship beat Alabama. They still didn't give him the Heisman Trophy before that. He should. He was the best player that year. Then afterwards. I said, you know, what a lot of guys say he should have won the Heisman Trophy really should have won is majority. Absolutely should have one is been trophy. I mean, that's the bottom line is. As murray. Completed seventy percent of his passes forty touchdowns seven picks forty and seven right? So forty seven. He passed for. Four thousand fifty three yards which means nothing and seventy point nine. And then I'll give you. That's that's Murray. I'll get to is. Two. Thirty seven touchdowns four interceptions. Thirty three hundred and fifty three yards. And completed sixty eight percent of his passes. So what status to a veteran? What what thirty seven four forty seven. Which rather have as a quarterback? I'd rather have thirty seven touchdowns and four intercepts then forty touchdowns and seven intercepts. I'd rather go with you. Okay. So the stats are almost passing wise are almost identical. And are you going to try and tell me did to lose any games? The answer is no did Murray losing games. Yes. Who plays in a Honda league? Once you answer that, and that's your that's that's the best case. So all this up. How would you possibly how would anybody possibly tell me? Looking those statistics one guy lost a game? One guy didn't lose a game. How would you possibly how would anybody possibly give the other guy the Heisman Trophy based on what basic it on? I'm being honest. What what would be the determining factor? They both have quarterback ratings over two hundred. Thirty seven in four versus forty seven. And that's because he was he was thirty seven and two. Remember he played Georgia game with a bad ankle from the first three two interceptions. Only thrown to in the regular season. Was two hundred and fifty before the game went down to two hundred two point to the at the highest one of all time the before his quarterback rating was to seventy six point five. He didn't lose a game. He played in the league that isn't even the same stratosphere as far as toughness not one league plays. Great defense top five players in the league. All over the league the top ten players on defense. Six of them in the SEC who were going to be picked in the pros. They're all in that league. Everybody knows that league is twice as hard as every other league. He plays in that league. Every week. He throws thirty seven touchdowns in Florence assets. Netherlands the game. Comes off winning a national championship. And you're going to give it to the guy who lost the game plays league with there is no defense. And so it's forty touchdowns and seventy intercepts and he's going to win the Heisman. Hey, I'm not gonna lose any sleep. If two it doesn't get it. But I wouldn't understand how somebody gave it to them. What would possibly be the thing that Murray did better? Sloughed their league lost. The game stats are basically the same. So I mean the level competition and just to show you Alabama's a flat point favorite over the other guys team. Bob and summit. What's up? Mike has the giants stocks fallen sulfide? We're actually going to talk today about what a shut in how many wins they should have versus. How many they really have? Let is the bottom line is listening could easily. More fun. The not championship team this year. That's what caught the great parcel championship team this year. Bob, sorry. They're just not they're not every year. Team. But I mean at six and six you'd have at least you have something to be rooting for. I understand that. But we have to really dig in. And why did they only have four to six not even happy costs because they're not a very good team. Understand. But you're talking to you. I like where they lost on a sixty three yard field goal. Okay. Mic. I can't like normal play. You're gonna tell me that there should be in the non championship team that can do. Michael change three plays in case three and they don't have one Super Bowl win. I mean. So what's the point? The season will be more exciting. That's the reason. I brought it up. All right. We know that we know that look good. I don't care. Then don't watch what you gonna tell. You don't watch them kneel and Oregon what's up? But if they were six and six that is the point. Hi, mike. How you doing? What's happened? Thanks for taking my call. Yes. Couple of NFL questions for you. I'm not going to happen that Mike McCarthy was fired. I don't think there's any doubt about that the thirteen years. Are you surprised to happen now? Now, not in the least probably wanted to be fired. Well, it was probably an Aaron Rodgers winning Powerball long. Is always wanna turn it into a fight here. Here's why it makes sense. Now, the Packers can do what they want out in the open Mike McCarthy can feel phone calls from prospective people want to hire him. And he also can start to put a staff together without game planning without acting like he's not doing his job without thinking about whether he's coming back next year. It's freeze them up. To go about his business. It was a courtesy. Do you think he gets the head coaching next year? Fifty fifty. I don't think there's a lotta head coaches out there could I see him getting a job. Absolutely. How many guys who in the league current can can? One Super Bowls are going to be available next year. Yeah. You're when you win a Super Bowl, and it always gives you a head up. You know when you're looking for another team. Because he's not a bad coach. One eight division titles in a Super Bowl. I mean. Like, I said, he's not a head coach. I got another question is Tampa Bay. Hi, I'm Mike McCarthy. Yes. Absolutely. I agree with that question for you just out of curiosity. You take the sum total of their careers. Who would you say the better overall quarterback? Dan Marino, drew Brees. Two different worlds. Dan Marino was a better player. I agree. I have different world. It's not it's apples and oranges. Drew Brees is playing in passing league that damn, you know, didn't play in Trump different world. Drew Brees does not have anywhere near the ability of Dan Marino. I agree. It's going to be a slight on them at all. Let me doesn't Dan Marino complete quarterback with anybody who ever lived. Do you think he's the greatest pocket thrower ever? I think he is. I listen. I don't I think I don't think he's much better than Dan. Fouts. Tremendous. I think he's I think he threw he was prettier. He had the release that name of had. He reminded me a name more than anybody else. He also lacked the mobility he had no mobility. I mean zero. In the pocket. He hated it. When you could get to him early. I mean, you could frustrate the heck I remember the giants when they were great. He came in. And they shut them out. I mean, he he the pressure. They put on a man, listen know, quarterback likes pressure know, quarterback likes pressure. But if you couldn't get to him he was gonna cut you to ribbons. He you can't listen if you wanna make the statement that nobody ever stood tall in a pocket. Suitable and Dan Marino, you can make that statement with confidence you can say guys through it as well. Nobody's ever thrown at better. Nobody I agree and the waiter guys who you got to put in there, you know, name it through it like that. Fouts threw it like that Sony Jorgensen through it like that, you know there before my time. Yeah. I mean, there are guys who could throw it like that. I mean, there really are I'll tell you who is a great thrower at a ball. He wasn't a great player. But it was just a pure throw the ball. Vinny Testaverde was a great thrower 'table now through a lot interceptions because he did not have the instincts of some of the other quarterbacks. But if you're just talking pure put him in a seven on seven drill and have a seven on seven drill. He might not lose anybody who ever lived. I mean every pass. Yeah. Look how we came to the ravens and the jets. I mean, he's thirty five interceptions of the bucket near. He was. Sells the Fairwood Postles. He was almost pita league. When they went to the NFC AFC championship game. He only eight interceptions that year. He had thirty touchdowns eight interceptions. He had a great year. Vinnie? Could throw it with anybody. Now didn't have the vision was in din of the instincts or some quarterbacks was not a great quarterback. He was a good quarterback. Not a great one. But you could throw what anybody make any throw throw. He couldn't make. John and Connecticut, what's up, John? Hey, Mike, thanks for taking the cabin. Well, listen, you know, I agree with your your your position is the Alabama quarterback get the hype. But what I heard about passer rating, I rooted people. To compare the two against each other. What else am I gonna use? Well, you use your new people. They couldn't use passer rating. I don't like gossiping, we're not talking NFL. Anyway, was his college. First of all, okay. They they play completely different schedules. My point is that they both have very high passer ratings. They both have outrageously Gordy numbers. But one is undefeated ends playing in a much tougher league than the other. I really don't understand. How anyone could not give it to the undefeated player? Who all you saw? Last year was him come off the bench in the last game of the season..
Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears quick thoughts
"Next up lions bears. It ain't Trubisky. Chicago's defense is number one in the NFC. Okay. Number four in the NFL. They're number one in turnover differential. Listen, it's a little like Dak wins last night and everybody freaks out. They had the running game and the defense, and they had the lead bottom line in Chicago. Matt Nagy is the less well-known version of the ram Sean McVay McVeigh's got stars offensively left tackle running back quarterback receiver. What the bears are doing right now with Mitch Trubisky to me, it's the story of the year. I talked to people inside the NFL year ago that thought maybe the kid was a bust Trubisky. This year twenty two DS seven picks and a quarterback rating over one on one. I don't think it's him though. Next up bills jets. Bowls fired yet. The jets have lost four straight Sam darnold left. It wasn't Sam darnold. Josh mccown came in and he was awful quarterback rating thirty nine listen, the parking lot got empty by halftime the team quit. You gotta remember Buffalo's fourth quarterback this year. Matt Barkley came in and dropped a forty burger on them. This was about effort again, I feel bad for Todd Bowles and Steve Wilton Arizona, but these young defensive coordinators feel like flip phones and twenty eighteen they and the GM should go with Bev. No offensive players left tackle need, a new one, right? Tackle need a new one center. Average running backs below average tight end. Good should be third tight end wide. Receivers a bunch of dudes just guys. Next up falcons Browns. Woke up dangerous. Listen, it was a perfect setting for a rookie quarterback played with the lead against the bad defense. The running game was humming for Cleveland and Baker Mayfield. Who's got a lot of swagger only. Add to throw the ball twenty times tied for the least in the NFL. Never forget when Big Ben came into the NFL. Remember that first year? Big bend didn't fill the football member. Philip rivers. I here in San Diego. Didn't tell the football. He attempts seventeen throws. This has how you manage a rookie quarterback Duke Johnson. And Nick chop are tremendously talented running backs. They got a lead that defense is the real deal. They had very few third downs. They didn't ask a ton. And they asked him to be accurate this play right now, you're watching was his best of the day. But after the game he was all fired up. When I woke up this morning. I was feeling pretty dangerous. He is good behind the mic. A next up cardinals chiefs. Lights camera action. Join I disagree on this too. I understand celebrating. I get it. The NFL wants free social media buzz. I totally get that. But at some point second quarter ask Andy Reid if he loved this. That's a fifteen yard penalty have to have rules mine. Knock on celebrating is ultimately it will become taunting or penalties. So how about a new rule? You can celebrate all you want inside the end zone. That's already a roll. Well, he got he got. Well, I mean, they're not going to the penalty for the lambo leap, but he got penalized because he used the prop.

"And i like that because i think the top seven notice i said seven in this draft the top seven picks in this year's nfl draft are going to be absolutely fascinating and here's the reason why and and more fascinating than in years past and the reason why is because there are arguably arguably now three players and maybe even four if you wanna look at quinton nelson the guard from notre dame there are three to four players who should be taken before any of the cornerbacks any of them if you're just looking at pure talent and the ability to walk on the football field in the nfl and play right away sukwon barkley quinton nelson bradley chubb and for my money i would even extend it to five in say derwin james and mingka fitzpatrick to me those five guys should be drafted before the quarterbacks if we're going by talent but everybody needs quarterback and the browns of screwed the pooch for years on getting a quarterback then the jets moved up to presumably get quarterback and we know the giants are going to do because if you even want to whittle it down to three absolute plug and play players right away even if you wanted to go to just the two best they would both fit the giants in sequential barclay and quinton nelson the guard is there gonna be a quarterback on the board at five four denver draft and let's just say for example that in the top five picks in the draft all four of those big time quarterbacks in kwan barkley are gone what does then indianapolis do at number six honestly there's a chance indianapolis might be able to slide down to make a trade now are they taking themselves out of contention getting one of those plug and play players.

"Or peterson dean dot com c s l b four six eight one one seven pick out by yourself gone well i mean the era van tissa pation not only here but a lot of places we wait for the other shoes to drop i want to get you take first on the trades the went down yesterday with the yankees in the white sox and the diamondbacks say and the tigers say jd martinez was a guy i thought would have been real good for the giant even after he left the astros and then he turned duty to the player i don't think anybody saw coming but that seems like a real good fit for arizona yeah i agree with you and i agree with you with everything you just said that cata bat the giants lineup has been missing had you would have just fit perfectly a day att in your water to be and then of course you'll he really wasam with detroit you'll good job by the tigers scouting and identify him there's a guy that could eat away dubbed doing well you know what he did uh great get for is under diamondbacks i mean as much as jd martinez hit in detroit urb gone into that that dinner air in the desert is basket are really help arizona and yell they wanted to slap a couple of weeks ago looks like the dodgers of all but sealed up another division title opening up a big lead but either way you'll diamondbacks uh they're they're almost certainly gonna be want a wildcard team your martinez bad gives them a nice different weapon i saw that there are one of the worst in the majors against a lot these include said with paul goldschmidt in the lineup and he hasn't been head over heels against lefties that's kind of a weird development this year and to do a doubletake when elected martinez numbers against lefthanders and regretted it's not that many had bats talking about forty plate appearances but he's gotta sixteen sixty one ops so that sounds like just what the doctor ordered yeah yeah that that a pretty good ops check no question about it you know that yeah yeah they they they're going to help them against la is no question about it the yankees may still be looking for starting pitching but they kind of attack this from the.

"Second there a second that's three number two fix a number seven picking julius randall right i mean they've picked high up in the draft for a bunch years now golden state warriors are the warriors because steph was the seventh clay was the eleventh andris mangas at thirty fifth devon booker was in the draft kristaps porzingis was in the graf you didn't take those guys right they need to hit on their number two overall pick period that guy's got to be a star we don't know about brandon ingrid so far they haven't found a store of the draft were even really an upper echelon rotation glare upper echelon so that's actually produced that way so the pressure you're absolutely right is on the lakers but i don't i think box office will follow double use they need a guy could bring them some w's so most people understand or at least think they understand how number one is going to go and number two is going to go what pick number three is intriguing because people are saying the celtics may trade that pick what are you see them doing if this more they'll go and get jimmy butler they'll find a way you're hearing that you know what the the the celtics turned down an offer for jimmy bilateral accurate that is they need to give jimmy butler they need to gig gordon haywood and they need to stop literally say we're planning for the future we plan for the been doing f use is tom this stepped into the into the fray illegitimately compete for conference crown getting those two will do that i totally agree with that if they can figure out a way to fit under the cap gordon hayward and jimmy butler and forgets about a balloon up next year in terms of salaries a deal right now but i only caveat i'd say if.

"And he's going to be on in a minute steph curry and mark jackson because because steph curry was the seventh pick klay thompson was the eleventh pick dream on green was a thirty fifth pick before they ever had kevin to rent and steph curry was the kind of unselfish player the player development got all these lower picks up to the point where they were a juggernaut an and and mark jackson his coach with steph curry created a kind of atmosphere on the team were guys sacrificed for each other and as a result of fat kevin durant wanted to play with those guys and if you really want to talk about why the cavs are in his predicament it's because it's because steph korean them created the kind of atmosphere that kevin durant wanted to join and it was a rap and i'm not going to insult lebrun or any basketball knowledgeable folks out the by acting like he is less than the great play that he is i'm simply saying that way your debt great i don't hear individuals who have been that great way until coach van gundy comes here way until more jackson comes here and as i have you ever heard a champion a champion that's one of the greatest players in the world sit up there and go like this well look i'm doing all i can i'm average in the triple double who says that while you're playing over yes you don't say it when you got games to win asked them when they come from anybody gets in there that's coming up next dry.
