"Which is the whole thing that switch does but it's so fucking small like die hard fan of Nintendo hardware like I collect a lot of it? I have like a GPA micro. which is one of my favorite things are showing you that seculow guy this? It's like this big. It's like the size of a Lego and you can play gameboy advance games anyway. This is that for the switch and it's like really boutique and and it just feels so good hand energizes me to you know play Zelda. It's really nice I like it. You got a small wonder I do. I don't know if I've talked talked about it but I really like a Cezanne essays like the brew like the the beer. Yeah yeah we went to a really nice brewery in Saint Louis the Alpha Alpha brewery yeah something like that. I'll have a brewing Alpha brewing brewery for real brewster's. That's a nice little selection had and nice sound nice says on there. Is that what you're saying no. It just made me think I mean I'm sure they have a nice Sesana but I I was just thinking about beers. I like consistently and like I say on me too man. I will very rarely drink more than one beer in an occasion so I want it and I want to get my mileage light and citrusy citrusy. I feel like Nice Nice stuff. Who starts this week. I think it's me I think it is you also. Why don't you start and I'll check and if it's not you and we were wrong. Then all interrupt you your hat. I'll eat my headphones way. This I go. I well well because you started way last week. Yeah last week skips but now the wonderful now. Oh Shit I have to start also wonderful. Dot website is going to be offer. The rest of its variety have to start this week yeah because you can't really summarize episode one hundred since it was itself a summary. Beyond categorization. It doesn't subscribe to labels Okay go ahead and start. It's like the goth kids. Your youth didn't reveal what my first thing. That would have been so bad. My first thing is the baseball t the baseball t everybody look at my baseball t what's with those leaves did the INS get bit off by tiger or a lion or some people thought you were initially talking about t-ball baseball t-ball people's pretty dope. It's baseball for the baseball without that pitching because the pitching scariest part the ball comes very fast which can happen when you're playing in the outfield. We need to find a way to get ball movement completely elite the fuck out of baseball don't we if you're in the outfield you see a ball coming at you that scary we have managed to erase that fear from the batting experience so no throwing the ball anybody getting the ball as c. e. and maybe when you're in the outfield. You have to run to a T. Where a ball is and so the player that just hit the ball. We'll shout out green twenty two not no rain twenty-two is and the outfielder has to run in fine green twenty raid. It's like a AH the last game in the Carmen Sandiego game show. I like that a lot or we can have two baseball diamonds and all the outfielders are in their own one and so in the ball gets shot out out. There could be an announcer like okay kids. It's going like way far right way far right yeah. That's pretty close. Let's just say you've got it like that safety but you were talking talking about the article of clothing and talking about the t shirt that has three quarters sleeve. I like it. I've always liked it is a fashion I like and that is tragic because I think it's one of the harder garments to find a good one for myself because it's just more. It's just more clothes to try and make it on my body well. I think you like a long sleeve. I feel like anytime you wear a short sleeve. You have a long sleeve nearby or over it and maybe this kind of splitting the difference for you interesting. That's an interesting hypothesis. This is like the a nice light jacket of shirts because it goes from day to night because leave can't really decide what it wants to do and I like that. It's a less common manatee design so like you go to the you know value in J. Crew can have a baseball team there most the time just GonNa have you know crew necks and v Necks which I also recently learned. I can't wear V neck anymore. I can't you also get usually two two colors on the sleeves or dot love that and I used to play baseball and I played for like little little league and I we were part of the losing team in Huntington West Virginia but I had the white shirt with the three quarters yellow sleeves favourite collar fucking loved it fucking live it for him. Really Nice t hated playing was bad at baseball except for my one heroic Grand Slam I did to save the REC center other them that hated it loved the shirt great stuff I really believed you for. It was like really anyway. The origins are okay. I found a lot of different corroborating sources about the origins of why people where these where these shirts for baseball I wanted to see like the origins of them and how people wore them for baseball why why they started doing that. And all of the sources I found the story sounded still like so apocryphal like there's no way that that is as simple as it was but anyway in the early eighteen hundreds there was a guy named Fitzroy James Henry Somerset who was a British army officer was in the battle of Waterloo and lost an arm and we have a name one more time. It's Fitzroy James Henry Somerset. I've already decided next time I play. Dnd Fitzroy is going to be the name of my character. Just an incredible blamed bucking amazing name. Fitzroy can sure have you want hey. This is my friend fits. This is my friend. Roy is my friend. Anyway lost an arm. I'm in about Waterloo and for his service in the army he was awarded a castle an area called Raglan and so he became the first baron Raglan and he had trouble like dressing himself and so his Taylor designed a shirt where the slaves were were attached which was not like the style back then a- and it allowed him to dress himself but it also gave him some cover while offering you know some flexibility so he could pull the sword and dress himself and all this stuff and that is why these are also called Raglan sleeves or rattling tease. didn't know that that's fine okay. Here's a seems Apocryphal after Lord Lord Raglan died his Taylor apparently immigrated to the US and began marketing two baseball teams saying that the flexibility of the shirt would allow them to swing a bat or throw a ball and then the Yankees like adopted adopt the style and so did every other team in the country. That seems weird to me that part like Oh. I made this dope shirt for my for my Bud Lord Raglan so he could dress himself and hold the sword. I Bet The New York Yankees would love this. How did you get their picture. He was wearing shirts himselves and walking by like a kid's baseball game picked up. The ball was like oh here guys I got. It broke a really realized. This is an incredibly comfortable sleeve throwing yeah. I guess so I guess so I yeah I like him so you wear this under your Jersey Baseball Jersey other. The style is changing. It's not it is not the norm now first of all you have a short sleeves with baseball vests. Which is the wildest gang? You don't fall that. It's like the Jersey is a vest best over your I forget the teams. There's not many teams do that's no good but even like the the three quarter sleeve is going away because of the compression sleeve that is coming being in and becoming a thing and you can't really wear a compression sleeve with a with a raglan sleeves always trying to compress thing in sport and they really want 'em pretty compact if they can get them there but I just think sleigh cool or a raglan sleeve. I just like got one from Austin city limits. I we're all the time like I can. Oh I can wear a watch with it. This is huge and not have to like pull up my sleeve to check the time he perfectly David. You seconds each day. I mean it's it's comfort and it is. I don't know I just love it. I've streamlined all my shit. I love it. It's perfection the Raglan t- what do you got well so- I alluded to it in a previous episode. I thought thought it deserved a feature of its own lays gentleman yogurt yogurt one of these days. We're going to have to go to a school to learn how to make that noise. You think you know like my own. I love it. It's it's way better than my ooh because that's nothing but I do feel like we could go see you know t- Esto or something and he'll be like no let me for for one hundred and fifty dollars. There's I'll take you through a four day class at night. Get a babysitter. I it's just getting the right yeah. You have to put your head inside of a speaker. That's making the noise you have have to be basically erased and start from scratch in the noise but not of the noise and then you'll be with the noise like me yes no but he would actually they do it and it would sound good but I can't as we've discussed. Can I tell you how yogurt is made. This may be one of those things where I don't need to. I WANNA know. I don't think it's disturbing hug him. Living -biotics in there milk is heated to about one hundred eighty five degrees so that the milk proteins don't become Kurds make sense after heating it is allowed to cool to about one hundred and thirteen degrees. The bacterial culture is mixed in and that temperature is maintained for four to twelve hours to allow fermentation cool. Where did the bacterial culture you skip to to step there with your dear and then we dump a bunch of living organisms into it and then I think the the description of reading is is for modern time I am so I imagine that you know it's kind of like a yeast packet. They have like a little. CIC A LAPAC soil out of people make it now and they're inside pots. Oh fine now because it just has to sit for four to twelve twelve hours. So you know you get constant. Temperatures ready go. I love how the instant I think somebody actually posted about this and the facebook instant has a little four digit readout display so it'll have like rice in there or it'll have the time or the temperature or whatever and then there's just a yogurt setting where machines just like yogurt. That's so good good. That's really good. I know what I'm doing in there. Hey Hey hey hey over here. Quick Yogurt so win when you get Pasteurized Yogurt is yogurt where the bacteria has been killed but then with probiotic yogurt they add the bacteria back skin plus seems now but it's the good bacteria. It's that good bacteria yes. The OSMO says Jones's so says it's made from milk. You know there's a lot of protein in their calcium potassium. some yogurts you can get as much as sixteen seventeen eighteen grams of protein in which is like thirty percent of your daily value well. That's Your Pepperoni Yogurt as your Jerky Yogurt Edo Ito. You're thinking about it. Aren't you got peppered. The bottom dig for it. I'm thinking about Turkey yogurt for some reason maybe because I'm thinking gravy and thinking Turkey oh only exclusively this constantly referring the gravy Turkey for the rest of my knees until I pass my final words in the hospital bed. We'll be gravy CRAVEY's now. Turkey Oak Jesus so probiotics are as I mentioned friendly bacteria that naturally present in the digestive system part of the reason people got so hot on yogurt. Is that antibiotics when you take them yeah they kill all that friendly yogurt because they're killing all the bacteria correa they do not discriminate between the good and the bad right yeah and a lot of people get sick because they've all their good bacteria has been killed and their immune system is ruined. "Your mom last last just giving down cobblestones warnings and welcome to dishing up nutrition brought to you by nutritional weight and wellness. We have the topic today. That may make you want to stop and think you may want to even take some notes today. We are discussing eating to maintain a strong body body and mind as we age. I'm not sure how many of you have ever considered the fact that what you eat every day day in and day out out affects how well you've age. I'm joanne right out. I'm registered and licensed dietitian and for someone who graduated from high school many years ago in the seventies this this topic is near and dear to me in fact. I feel a lot better six years later than i did. When i started working here i feel the same way joann yeah yeah. There's that great so joining me today. In this discussion is caroline hudson. You just heard her who's also registered and licensed dietitian and i think she may have graduated from high school. Close to the time i did well. I did graduate from high school around the same time <music>. I'm as you did but let's just say we are both seasoned licensed dietitians good good so the information we will be sharing. Today is something we strongly believe in and also practice first of all. I think it's important to keep strong muscles. I learned that decades ago from my mother who is ninety. One years young. I like to say course record high. She's still kayaking on lake superior and she also hikes the trails around our cabin. So what should you do to keep healthy ace jong muscles of course i'm sure many of you are thinking resistance training or strength training because we need exercise is to maintain our strength and yes we definitely do need exercise and that recommendation is out there strongly but also to to build and maintain your muscles. You must supply your body with the building blocks. It needs so if you don't you can exercise an hour or more every every day and nothing will happen so what builds muscles the simple answer is quality protein so what type of protein gene is best for building and maintaining muscles animal protein is actually the best that means you can have eggs or cottage cheese or way protein powder yogurt beef pork turkey chicken lambs food and fish. You know i i've noticed who says many of my clients age over the years. They seem to lose their appetite for protein. <hes> you know i sometimes that really baffles me so <hes> they start cutting back on the amount of protein they eat and then they cut back even more and more so they're really only eating a few ounces announces every day. I find that they're cutting back their protein but you know having more carbs right and i've seen that too so eating only three. We are four ounces of protein. Each day is just not enough protein to maintain your muscle mass. I remember in the eighties and nineties when people were eating low protein because it was also kind of connected to that low fat. That's simply not true. I often tell clients to think about a bodybuilder under who is trying to build his or her lean muscle mass. They eat protein of course they eat little to no processed carbs sir sugar so protein helps make muscles and sugar and process carbs make the fat that appears on our bodies so yeah in the past eating eating about nine ounces of protein daily recommended for most women but recent research has found that as we age we actually need more protein protein then at the very minimum we recommended <hes> at least twelve ounces of protein daily or about eighty four grams <hes> of protein however most older adults do better with even more than that dread. That's rams a protein or about fourteen ounces of meat. That's right and because quality protein is so important to maintain or preserve river muscle mass caroline and i would like to give you some basic ideas on what you can do to successfully put that plan into practice eating enough protein eighteen to build or rebuild or preserve your muscles. You may want to grab some paper and a pencil and jot down. These ideas are first recommendation is is to eat real meat. Caroline just referred to that earlier. Preferrably this real meat comes from grass fed animals and as often as possible abol so. I'm sure many of you are thinking. Why do i need grass fed meat. The answer's twofold grass-fed meat actually contains means more healing nutrients and contains far less toxic hormones or pesticide residue and other undesirable chemicals nichols and it's also best to eat wild carp fish and not farm raised fish at all times so i always say to my clients protein protein builds muscles and supports energy as well as a good metabolism so here's a suggestion for both the protein pack breakfast vest and a morning snack so breakfasts. I suggest cooking to eggs and a cup of vegetables in butter. You know real butter of course and that meal has about two ounces of protein now. If you get up really early in the morning then about three hours later you might need a snack right and then i would recommend about two-thirds cop of plane full fat yogurt. I like to stir in a scoop an extra scoop of way protein powder and at a handful of walnuts and some blueberries about a half a cup of blueberries. That's great snack. That sounds good. The two-thirds third cup of <hes> full-fat plain yogurt has about nine grams of protein and that one scoop of way protein powder has about seventeen eighteen grams of protein for twenty six grams or total of like four ounces. I add i add walnuts because of course is there really healthy fat and are considered great brain food. Have you ever noticed how much the walnut resembles. The shape of the folds of your brain. Joanne does interesting. I and i suggest the blueberries because they are very high in antioxidants and are also considered the brain food additionally there easy and they taste really great especially this time of the year right right that sounds like a great snack and then after after that snack about three hours later. You may be ready for lunch often. I make up <hes> chicken chili couple of my i two favorite recipes from our cookbook are the are the chicken chili and the chili. We make with ground beef also yep. I love those those are great recipes. So i make up the chicken chili. I then store it into cup serving size containers so that i can just heat them up and have an easy tasty protein packed lunch so i generally make that recipe at the beginning of the week and packed those lunch containers so that every time i run out the door and go to work. I've got that container keener bet freezer right. If i have any extra i throw them in the freezer so it nutritional weight and wellness for abacha chilly we said just using about two pounds of ground meat to one can of beans yeah. That's what makes our recipe different right joanne right that is a lot of people make chili with with one key one pound of ground beef in a couple of two three cans of beans right and then the protein ratio is not quite high enough and it ends up being too high in carbs so so for this chicken chili recipe to make it creamy. I out of canada coconut milk and so i have my healthy fat. That's going to help me mesa satisfied for the next three hours or so so one and a half to two cups of chile is another four ounces or so of protein so if you had breakfast and morning snack you're up to about ten ounces a protein already. Wow day yep yeah. We're getting there right we are some of my clients really liked to have a light late afternoon snack. I think afternoon snacks for me. I i know i can't get through the day without my afternoon snack but this can be someplace something as simple hello half a cup of full-fat cottage cheese with a few berries and some p. con sprinkled on top and some some of my clients <hes> have a little salmon salad alad or chicken salad and a few carrot sticks. This comes to at least one ounce of protein so now you're up to eleven ounces of of protein and i think it's time for a break time from break. Ask you are listening to dishing up nutrition. This may surprise you but drinking. King water is one of the secrets of successful aging our bodies are composed of up to sixty percent water and if you are dehydrated your sells just won't work properties properly. Even if you're mildly dehydrated it can lead to fatigue headaches a lack back of mental clarity constipation and wrinkles so severe dates dehydration can impact your organs and we recommend drinking about about eight to ten glasses of filtered water daily and drinking herbal iced tea can also be included in that total. I make up a delicious herbal not and serve it over rice with a twist or ice sorry did that's on like with a twist of lemon. It's very satisfying thing in helps. Keep me hydrated and supports my memory and with that we'll be right back. Kings awaiian buns a dinner roll. I'm with fan.
