"At each american airlines flight seventy seven took off from dulles international airport outside of washington. Dc the boeing. Seven fifty seven was headed to los angeles like the other two flights. Sarah just talked about with sixty four people on board to pilots four flight attendants fifty eight passengers including three elementary school. Children selected for a trip hosted by national geographic. All five of these hijackers were flagged by security for extra scrutiny for one reason or another including that one of them didn't have a photo. Id and agents found them to be suspicious. The only consequence of being flagged for this extra scrutiny ended up being that they're checked bags were held off the plane until it was confirmed that they had boarded three of the hijackers set off metal detectors and had extra screening before boarding the plane. The screeners didn't resolve. What set off the alarms and allowed the hijackers to board the plane anyway and this seems unthinkable today and the reason that it seems unthinkable today is because we have all been flying in recent years in a post nine eleven world and i think this is one moment to kind of flag as a way in which our our everyday lives substantially changed after nine eleven when you read about the way security was conducted. What kind of timbers were they using at the outset they were using some of the classic timbers so european spruce for example. They were also using spanish. Sega and cyprus. Cyprus was this cheap timber that was available unused in what they made. Casket boxes out of for funerals. But then around. Seven fifty seven and sixty we start to see instruments being made using rosewood and and exotic timbers have come from south america africa potentially from other parts of the world one of the things that we wanted to really get to the bottom of how they get there and why. Why was it that it was in the second half of the seventeen hundreds. Even if i've done nothing and you decided to go with somebody else if you didn't break your agreement with me technically legally. I could come after you for that commission. Reach out to them. Hey what do you think this house could rent for. If they don't know they're not the agent for you they should be able to say. I wanna zubac out for a second here and just kind of reflect on a couple of things one you guys are denigrate job with your careers. Yes stable careers and a high income. It sounds like you just kind of. You're always doing fine with your money and not doing anything irresponsible whatsoever but got again intentional about your finances. Sounds like around march and really bumped your savings rate dramatically.

"Clayton. Welcome to the bigger targets. Many podcast. i'm so excited to have you today. Thanks guys. I'm really excited to be here. Appreciate all your advice. Throughout allentown cast stones awesome. Well thanks for listening. So clayton is a twenty six year old renewable energy worker living in the midwest and looking for some suggestions on financial planning in general so that he can retire early and lead his best life clinton. Why don't you walk us through your income and debts absolutely so right now. Actually our income just got cut by about forty percent girlfriend. Travels with me for work and she. Unbeknownst us lost her physician so lost forty percent of our income. I'm sitting at a salary for diem and a trailer allowance and then some rental income from a rental property that we have totalling about seven grand a month. Can you give us some background on that. So you say salary per diem and camper each just give us enough background in your job to understand why you have predicament camper allowance. Sure yes so. With the renewable energy side. We travel all over the country so ben everywhere from north dakota colorado oregon iowa and now down in texas so pretty gives me some money in basically not sleeping my own bed. Money right and then Trailer allowance. i live in a fifth wheel while on the road so kind of a unique living situation and they give me allowance for that too. Because there's obviously expenses that come with pulling a trailer and the wear and tear on the tyres and all that kind of thing so companies generous enough to give us allowances for those kind of things and yeah ok. Great eddie other sources of income besides the salary camper allowance pretty yup so we do have a rental property. that were satirized. Well we are at home so kind of one of those ideals to were living on the road but we have a home base and house hacking that home base. So that's bringing in about fifteen hundred a month for us right now and it's gonna go up hopefully the next month or two. Once we finished some slight remodels and get another room rented so it should go up to about two thousand dollars fantastic. Yeah expense side of things fixed expenses. Obviously we got the mortgage. We do have a car loan and then luckily enough again with the company. I worked for their great and they cover a lot of expenses on the road so the living allowance. The lot rent recover my lower end from camper all that kind of stuff. So it's pretty limited to mainly just jim internet's phone bills and then food things like that. So the picture informant. My head is a really strong financial position. We talked about a seven thousand dollars in income. Let's exclude the house act. We got about fifty five hundred dollars a month in income and are you kind of abbreviating that to after tax dollars. Yes yeah that's all after tax. Okay great so you got about fifty five hundred and after tax dollars plus we got income from your house hack how much is your mortgage mortgage is about twelve hundred dollars a month principal interests. I thank is around seven fifty. Our insurance is actually a little bit higher because the house situation is kind of odd. An taxes are actually relatively low about thirteen hundred a year. So awesome so even with maintenance. You're probably sitting at no more than fifteen hundred dollars. Total housing costs. What are your utilities. You think as hard to us for now just because we do live on the road and it's relatively low because we're one twice a month so i don't know maybe hundred dollars okay. So you're housing is free for all intents and purposes through the house hack. Is that right correct. Yep awesome love it. How about transportation is that also largely free because of the allowance for the camper and that type of stuff. That's another benefit as Transportation's pretty much free. I gotta company truck and again the company. I work for their so generous to let me use that personal time to you which is awesome. We do have a vehicle for my girlfriend and we do have a debt on that as well and believer sitting at eighty five hundred or so see if a balance of eighty five hundred on that in cash payment associated with it okay. What would you kind of estimate your total expenses to be housing. We've got to close zero. What would you say outside of housing. Your monthly expenses are unrelated to work man. I'd say twenty five hundred ish maybe a month and that's going to be broken out between that car payment in a gym and entertainment this types of things normal year when it's not twenty twenty. We tended to spend a little bit more than now. It's a little bit less but yeah okay great. So what i'm seeing. Here is an ability to accumulate at least fifteen hundred to two thousand dollars a month in cash flow on an ongoing basis. Is that right yes awesome and then when you look at your financial position do you feel that. The opportunities are going to be on the income side on the expense side or on the capital allocations piece in terms of managing the money. You're accumulating i say right now are sitting pretty good as far as the income. I feel pretty solid with the income side of things granted like i said we did lose some of that coming in but i believe there is work to do on our expense side of things. 'cause i don't accurately track it. Everything i do is rough estimates. So i know what my phone is monthly. I know what the car payment is monthly but the food and all that stuff who knows i mean sometimes we go out and have fun and go out to local italian restaurant or whatever it is so perfect so i think we're gonna have a phone with this because your expense the way you've just described your situation. We don't housing expense. And i see a path forward here. Where if for example if your path that over the next year to you don't have to pay for housing and you don't have to pay for vehicle at least in the short run. I mean you get to that point and you have a thousand dollars per month is what i understand per diem. Is that right. Roughly a thirty six days. So depending on when i'm work that worked when i'm at home so about thousand

I think is probably my favorite Element of this sort of new virtual fashion show. Because you have to do we had to do something and normally we don't have swag bags with these things. We have gifts and stuff that you bid on that. You don't necessarily at something with your ticket price so it's gonna be exciting. And how much are the tickets. Do you know offhand dancing. How much the tickets. Because i don't know offhand. I don't know either. We won't be with that anybody. Make sure that we keep everybody. I don't know when people there all the it's gonna be at the library so they can go and buy tickets so bad parts going to be like a chinese raffle each basket will have a walks and you put whatever basket you wanna put your raffle ticket in type of and menu. Also get the swag bags so you get a lot lot now. Will you be doing the play by play for the models and stuff like that. Because because what you're wearing no no no no i'm just. I'm assuming you're glowing personalities. Going to be the one explaining all this stuff. You don't want somebody that doesn't understand what you have for sale. There was absolutely true. Why We Think We Need to Hire 2 More Salespeople
"Why we think we need to hire two more sales people in twenty twenty one americans olsen and i'm days join us on our journey to building a one hundred million dollars company. What's happening it's eric. J olson kevin. And i have concluded that we need to more sales people at array digital in twenty twenty one to achieve our revenue goals for the year. So let me give you a little bit of background here. We ended the year with about two point. Three five million dollars annual recurring revenue. We want to get up to three point five million of annual recurring revenue by the end of twenty twenty one which is only about eleven months away and by the way if you start taking out things like two or three weeks for the holidays. It's more like ten months away. It's amazing how quickly you lose time throughout the year but we didn't analysis and what we concluded was that every single month at a rate digital our overall monthly recurring revenue increases by about two thousand seven hundred fifty dollars every month. So we sign on more deals than that but we lose. Some class may have lost. Some old classes have been with us for several years. In general on average about twenty seven fifty and what that meant to us was that if nothing else changed right now we would go from two point. Three million to about two point seven million by the end of the year. If we didn't do anything different now also. We have recently hired a second salesperson. Joe if joe doesn't those numbers the two point three two point seven that doesn't factor joe because he's just us recently started to actually sell after a period of training and having a couple of small deals if he gets up to quota the way we expect him to with a bunch of factors filled in he'll bring in about another five hundred thousand dollars of annual recurring revenue. That takes us from two point seven to about three point two. We are sort of our three point five million dollar annual recurring revenue goal. How do we go about filling that. Well there's a couple of ways we do it one is. We could just hope for the best. We did that last year and it didn't work so hoping for the best is not a great solution to this problem to. We try to run a ton of ads and get inbound traffic while running. Ads has never really produced. Anything russ which is interesting. Because we're digital marketing agency. We run on is for our clients. Most of our clients are be to see whereas we are b. two b. and we have an arguably complex and somewhat long sales process is a lot of explaining that has to happen in. A lot of reviewing auditing or whatnot is not just like buying something on amazon where you just click and and you're done. This is a much more significant commitment. That people are making on as have never really worked for us as a b. two b. company ourselves. The other way is we could market ourselves to this doubt. Marketing is what we have historically done to bring in new business. You know we do podcast. We do lunch time. Lives we do a whole bunch of in person networking events which may not come back for another year because of covid but we do a ton of marketing and brand awareness. There's really yes we could do more. Of course. it could always do more of that but we do a ton of that already. What we need to do is you know. That's an option. But it's not a great option. So you know what are already listed are not wonderful options hoping for the best advertising away out or marketing your way out the fourth option really is hire more salespeople so we concluded that's probably the best way to get this additional revenue that we want imagine that hiring people to get more revenue. Yeah that's the way business works so we want to hire at least one salesperson. We decided to hire to too because like there's a really good chance that one of them won't work out so well we want to do is bring on a couple of people at once. Train them both at the same time. Look if we hope for the best with these two people will far exceed our sales goal right if both of them are just amazing then We'll be way past three point five by the end of the year. But you know history shows that not every salesperson or even every person in the company works out. Well we don't want to do is just hire one and bank. All of our hose injuries for this resolution and getting up to this revenue goal on that one additional higher and then it just doesn't work out for some reason so we're going to hire to was basically music the backup plan so we have a job ad out on envied right now. We'll probably run it as a linked in job at as well but if you are a sales person anywhere in the united states preferably near the east coast just to align with the rest of the team's time zones.
