"We've got what's this patriots scandal I I can't believe it. I can't believe whatever reading here. It happened last Monday at a a press conference Bengals head coach Zack. Taylor was asked by Bengals. Radio analyst Dave Lapham about whether quote the Patriots had a videographer up in the bengals press box area Working with an advanced scout that was taping video. The bengals sideline during the Cincinnati. Cleveland Game Taylor replied that he was aware there was an incident in the. NFL was investing later that day. The Patriots responded with the statement said the organization's production crew had been filming a video for their team websites. recites the pats website has a series. Do Your job and what they were doing was apparently highlighting an advance scout right so the Patriots are set to play the bengals. Does this last Sunday the previous Sunday they are at a bengals game. Apparently doing a documentary on an advance scout. Okay this of course could be read as a preplanned excuse because in two thousand fifteen. ESPN's Seth wicker champion. "And Secondly, assuming that the patriots won't be back again. How many times we tried to bury that team look my man Seth wicker sham best in the business. I don't know if you've got a time to get to it today. But do yourself a fate. If you haven't already and read his breakdown of the dysfunction in Cleveland, okay? But this time. But at this time last year. Last off season. Seth's bombshell was patriots relatively speaking dysfunction. So how many times have we been trying to pass the baton to another team in the AFC of the NFL and this team just will not die. So everybody's looking for the next Sean McVeigh. They got a great thing going in LA. It looks like a long with the stadium is going to be built to last. But man, I it's not that easy to get there. Not to not to keep. Sound like a broken record? We've been spending a whole show talking about why they shouldn't be there to begin with this year. Yeah. I heard say, and it's also very hard to get back. And I just don't think they can take for granted that oh, we're a young team with a young quarterback and running back that's in his prime and a coat says younger than most players that hey, we're gonna this is gonna be the norm for them with the patriots are doing. That's why it's just I love it. They're back playing the Rams because if nothing else crystallizes how improbable but damn near impossible is right. Is they're back playing the same franchise at the dynasty started with. Ties has been turned over three or four times over. Yes. The Rams again, they moved to the city. It's a cool. There's no question. Cool. Saying team. Yes. The same franchise. They did back in two thousand and one. Yes longtime ago, that's incredible. With the same coaching quarterback. Yes. And the Rams have a different interrelation of the greatest Showalter and the time that the patriots have dominated the league..

"Straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless. Best phones, best networks, no contracts because man yesterday. One thing that we learned without fail. I see Seth wicker sham Cleveland Browns. And I immediately just like knee-jerk reaction started rubbing my hands together. Menacingly like, oh, we're about to do it cause if you guys forget Seth wicker sham was a writer for us here at ESPN. One of our senior staff writers owner some great headshots we've got pulled up right now on Google, and he has got a spectacular gays. But right now when you hear Seth wicker sham. Bogin, great writer for us walk through the door. You know, something wicked this way come and I don't mean that in a bad way. But you're getting ready to have someone going start poking around in the building the way the New England Patriots found out last year, the article that documented a lot of the tension in that building ended up being a major talking point for the off season. And now the Cleveland Browns Seth wicker sham again. I'm staring at this beautiful headshot. And all I can think is that's the face that looks directly into your eyes and says I'm going to destroy you from the inside out that being said, I think Seth wicker Shamsa, good luck charm, by the way in addition to being a great writer. I think Seth wicker sham is someone that propelled. This patriot team to greatness, sort of reverse psychology Biaggi them a little bit because they needed to feel some of that heat from the outside the galvanized and now they're back in the Super Bowl. Gotta give credit where credit is due but Seth wicker sham again wrote a piece documenting Jimmy really, I think it was centered around Jimmy has lem the Browns owner. Learning more about that. Because the one thing that I don't think especially at the national level. We always give enough credence to is just how pervasive when you talk about culture in a sports team and that being set in a locker room and that being set by a head coach goes way higher than that. And you get a very clear view of that through sets peace, and the one thing I come away from is really one of the points that I've been hitting on for a while. Which is there is no greater force in sport. When it comes to building your team, then continuity, and consistency. Because when you look at the volume of turnover in the Browns organization, it's made winning at a high level impossible for this team. And that's why going forward now their ability to stick with Freddie kitchens to give this a real chance to succeed is going to be. It's not gonna be Baker Mayfield. It's not to be whatever offseason acquisition. They make. It's not going to be who. Freddie kitchens stalls the D coordinator. It's going to be can the has limbs hold there. Tung enough in all this to give anyone involved a chance to succeed. Now, Seth wicker sham joined Spain fits last night here on ESPN radio. And I thought he was asked an interesting question should Browns fans be hopeful. We'll get that in a second. But I just kind of general idea of what Seth wicker sham tried to get across in this piece. Talking about the Cleveland Browns, though, I really wanted to try to get inside. And learn what it's like to work Virginians. He has on and try to determine as best. I could whether you know, they their methodology the way that they do football is going to test the way is going to test. What a young quarterback interest sent. And so that's what I was interested in learning about and in the process of learning about a lot of things I learned the win. You know, Hugh Jackson was told he was fire. He told John Dorsey and Jimmy has to get the out of his office. I learned that general Mansur Sashi Brown was nicknamed Obama by Jimmy hasn't which you know, offended a lot of the people in the building. Even though he didn't mean it that way and. You know, I think there's a lot there including they broadcast poured ones in for. My accent in the building. I last Michael here on ESPN radio, and the ESPN my favorite part of that by far is that sound from the Dan lebatardshow hearing. Stugatz come in at the end, Stu gods..

"Activated respect we need your help. Scotty, oats tweets in in reference to these Seth wicker sham peas documenting Jimmy and Ford or June Defoe, Lord that's a fine Jimmy in D Ford. I dunno. If there is a Jimmy four d Ford, I know he can't stay outside. I know that much. Yes. Sick burn Scott tweets in in reference to Jimmy and d has lem. The has limbs are a joke. They try to ruin the Tennessee volunteers by trying to show Greg Jeanniot down Tennessee's throat before the recently removed Davenport vetoed that the fire curry and higher Fulmer funny. She didn't get a look in Cleveland, obviously, part of the and I think maybe the most interesting part about Seth wicker Shams, deep dive into the Cleveland Browns into the has looms and that front office is you get to learn more about the people that are running the team and for the outside world who may not be as well acquainted with as I forget who I heard on around the horn, call them Jimmy and d from Tennessee who is not familiar with. How these billionaires not only come to their money. But also, then the other circumstances that drive them to be the types of owner that they are. And you hear that Jimmy has lung is ever present in that building. And not always in a way. That is helpful. But generally in a way that is toxic that induces a fair amount of paranoia in that building. And ultimately with a decision making process is really undermined the success of that team. Kevin bickford tweets in remember how much crap you gave Al Horford last year in reference to the NBA all star game the starters that were announced there. Yesterday in the eastern and Western Conference, and we know the draft televised for that this year. I did give I've apologized to Al Horford numerous times since then I'm biggest member of the Al Horford hive, and the is the most important player the Celtics have I'll never doubt him again through the rest of human history. This one is interesting.

"Golick junior fifty seven. Guys. It is that time of year right now Seth wicker sham sinking his teeth into yet. Another team. Like, I got to imagine at this point with Seth wicker sham walks in your building. Everyone's gotta be on edge because you're getting ready to find out something for those who you don't know Seth wicker sham. One of our ESPN senior writers guy does a great job for us. If you remember back to last year this last off season he was the author of a piece on the New England Patriots outlining the friction and the tension between Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, rob gronkowski. And the like as they all jockeyed for credit amongst the patriots wealth of success and led to an entire offseason discussion about Tom and Bill Belichick and everything that had happened with Jimmy Garoppolo. And is this the end of the patriot dynasty and now they're in the Super Bowl. So conversely, maybe if you're the Cleveland Browns who are the subject of the lake. Piece by Seth wicker sham. Maybe just maybe you look at this and say all right Super Bowl or bust for next season because it worked out well enough where the patriots man Seth wicker sham is like human thanksgiving. You find out a lot about your family at thanksgiving that you are not ready for Seth wicker sham. You find out a lot about your organization, but you might not have known you might not wanted to have known. But it's coming your way. Anyway, hurricane wicker Shammas in the building. And he is ready to leave his Mark. So we will get to it was a great article by Seth wicker sham documented what it was like inside that organization through all of the regime changes that we've seen in the last few years number of different head coaches GM's all of them and how like we always talk about in sports, especially the closer and closer you get to a fan base. There always gonna point directly to the top at ownership when problems persist over a long period of time. So we'll those problems be done in this new regime. We will wait. And see. But in addition to that, we also had news in the world of sports yesterday Tiger Woods teed off at Torrey Pines for his first round of two thousand and nineteen. And we had the announcement the all star game in the NBA the captains and the starters announced. And I am ecstatic that we righted what could have been an agreed GIS wrong. Because man. For any of you that we're listening here earlier first and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio on the ESPN app..

"And last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. It is downright despicable. What I had to watch last night because I love the Pro Bowl skills challenge. And I know it really it's a great derivative of the NBA all star game that I think is always done a really good job with the skills contest. They're the NBA announced their all star game starters for each conference. Lebron James captain of the west as the leading vote getter Janas onto the Gupo the captain of the eastern squad as the leading vote getter for there. I was happy James Harden's a starter over Derrick rose because. I don't know how that was even in question, but it's two thousand nineteen I shouldn't be surprised by much anymore. But the one thing the NBA all star game has done really. Well is the three point contest the skills challenge as much as we try and fix the dunk contest. All the time. I think the rest of that weekend operates. Really well because it puts you in competitive situations that are a little outside the norm. We're doing better. In the Pro Bowl the skills challenge. I think has come a long way making it fun and creating a competitive environment for these guys. And that's what we want to see. But there's one big problem. One big problem with that. You cannot make Kyle Williams push that sled that far for anyone watching last night. They had an obstacle course as they often do to finish off the competition and the first leg of it involved a sled push. You had the captain of each team. They Emmett Smith was the captain of one of the NFC team. Jim Kelly was the captain of the AFC team. So Kyle Williams the longtime Buffalo Bills defensive tackle more neck than he's got anything else on his body is tasked with pushing a sled with Jim Kelly on already precious cargo like Jim is fought through so much as Kyle Williams said he goes, I had a pretty good career in buffalo. I think if I kill Jim Kelly. I'm not going to be welcome back out there. So already precious cargo on board. And he gets up there. And he's pushing up the Gare this'll be good. They'll do it for ten fifteen yards. They made him push damn near forty yards. Kyle Williams is exhausted. He looks miserable. He's retiring this year. So it's gonna be the last football game. He plays. And that's how you want to do. It's despicable. So we're going to fix that. We got a couple of other solutions couple of other tweaks that are really gonna take Pro Bowl weekend to the next level. We're gonna make it something special despite all the criticisms of this modern game first and last here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app right now, it's time for straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless. Best phones, best networks, no contracts because man yesterday. One thing that we learned without fail. I see Seth wicker sham Cleveland Browns. And I immediately just like knee jerk reaction started rubbing my hands together. Menacingly like, oh, we're about to do it. This patriot team to greatness, sort of reverse psychology. He argued them a little bit. Because they needed to feel some of that heat from the outside the galvanized and now they're back in the Super Bowl. Got to give credit where credit is due. Seth wicker sham again wrote a piece documenting Jimmy. And really, I think Senator around Jimmy has lem the Browns owner learning more about that. Because the one thing that I don't think especially at the national level. We always give enough credence to is just how pervasive when you talk about culture in a sports team and that being set in the locker room and that being set by a head coach goes way higher than that. And I thought he was asked an interesting question should Browns fans be hopeful. We'll get that in a second. But I just kind of a general idea of what Seth wicker sham tried to get across in this piece. Talking about the Cleveland Browns, though, I really wanted to try to get inside. And learn what it's like to work on and try to determine if best I could whether you know, their methodology football is going to test the way is going to test what a young quarterback can crescent. And so that's what I was interested in learning about and in the process of learning about a lot of things I learned to win. You know, Hugh Jackson was told he was fired. He told John Dorsey and Jimmy house them to get the f out of his office. I learned that general mantra Sashi Brown was nicknamed Obama by Jimmy which you know, offended a lot of the people in the building. Even though he didn't mean it that way and. A lot there including you know, they broadcast poured one and I. Accident in the building personalized Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. My favorite part of that by far is that sound from the Dan lebatardshow hearing. Stugatz come in at the end. Stugatz. This bass Joel bastion of morality on that show coming in and making the clarity by accident. They brought broadcast the porn by accident in this situation. But it's all a testament to. Being too involved. And we hear the nature of ownership in the NFL all the time. When you think Jerry Jones versus Robert Kraft, Robert Kraft is present, but not overbearing Jerry Jones is present involve he's the GM. He's the everything, and we always talk about what you actually need to have success. And with Jimmy has them. I it's fascinating to watch the way his life outside of football influence that behavior. Because we always talk about these owners, this is usually a side project for a lot of these people. Well for Jimmy has them that went haywire pilot flying j truck stops was the family business that he inherited and turned into a billion dollar enterprise worth like two point seven billion dollars. But when all of a sudden, the FBI and the IRS are rating, you're building because of a five year fraud scheme that had been going on? And all of a sudden that part of your life is in ruin you saw the extra attention paid to the football team wasn't exactly a good thing. Coming around here. It's endearing won an owner. And you heard is trying to ask questions is trying to learn more about the thing that he owns. Which to me? Yes is endearing on the surface. But when it seems like every conversation that he had in the building was used a pit others against each other. When it was almost sounding like the culture of fear that the patriots organization we talk about with their team that works because you've got people to stop solidly build on at the top in Bella check. And Brady you didn't have any of that foundation in Cleveland. Instead, all you had is the fear of being fired that constantly loomed over this place, and a lack of continuity, and that lack of continuity will undermine everything else that you're trying to do. Now. The other question is should the Browns have hope because Baker Mayfield seems to be the thing sitting in the middle of this that resembles hope through the years of draft mistakes through the years of bad front office decisions as far as hirings and firings there, quite frankly, the inability to even as an organization that came in wanting to value a forward thinking approach to the NFL that when it hired. Sashi brown. When it hire Paul Di pedestrian when it brought in Hugh Jackson wanted to commit itself to trying to spin this forward, lack the intestinal fortitude to see it through in the way that was necessary and for everyone in that building. Now, the refrain has been the same for so long. They mentioned in here the staffers around the building that when Jimmy has lem d has them stand in front of the room to tell them about yet, another round of firings. It almost follows the script. It sounds exactly the same. And that's so disheartening for a group of people can Baker Mayfield alone. Be the thing that drives this and gives people enough hope that gives the has looms enough courage to say we've got to stick this out because we finally have the one thing we've been searching for and it's in our grass now. And that was the interesting question asked to Seth wicker. Shame on Spain and Fitz last night was should the Browns be hopeful. Because the quarterback hasn't changed. She's only gotten better. I think the question will be can they keep him getting better? And can't they keep him. We're going to have a year study him it can they keep him ahead of the game. And you know, that to the is going to be vital. But again, it's like whatever reason it happened. Whether it was telling the flood. Day ended up with a guy who looks like he could be a legit franchise quarterback. It guy is a player. And he could be a fixture and icon in that city. An injury that could get his way is history. That to me is good. Appealable fascinating thing.

And can't they keep him. We're going to have a year to study him. It can they keep him ahead of the game. And you know, that can be is going to be vital. But again, it's like whatever reason it happened. Whether it was the bloodshed. Today ended up with a guy who looks like he could be a legit franchise quarterback. It guy is a unique player. And he could be a fixture and icon in that city. Any? Injury. His way is.

"To say it is deplorable what the Pro Bowl dead last night during the skill challenges. First and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. It is downright despicable. What I had to watch last night because I love the Pro Bowl skills challenge. And I know really it's a great derivative of the NBA all star game that I think is always done a really good job with the skills contests. They're the NBA announced their all star game starters for each conference. Lebron James captain of the west as the leading vote-getter Janas onto Gumbo. The captain of the eastern squad as the leading vote getter for there. I was happy James Harden's starter over Derrick rose because da I don't know how that was even in question, but it's two thousand nineteen I shouldn't be surprised by much anymore. But the one thing the NBA all star games done. Really? Well is the three point contest the skills challenge as much as we try and fix. The dunk contest all the time. I think the rest of that weekend operates. Really well because it puts you in competitive situations that are a little outside the norm. We're doing that better. In the Pro Bowl the skills challenge. I think has come a long way making it fun and creating a competitive environment for these guys. And that's what we want to see. But there's one big problem is one big problem with that. You cannot make Kyle Williams push that sled that far for anyone watching last night. They had an obstacle course as they often do to finish off the competition and the first leg of it involved a sled push. You had the captain of each team Emmett Smith was the captain of one of the NFC team. Jim Kelly was the captain of the AFC team. So Kyle Williams the longtime Buffalo Bills defensive tackle more neck than he's got anything else on his body is tasked with pushing a sled with Jim Kellyanne already precious cargo like Jim is fought through so much as Kyle Williams said he goes, I had a pretty good career in buffalo. I think if I kill Jim Kelly. I'm not going to be welcome back out there. So already precious cargo on board. And he gets up there. And he's pushing up the Gare this'll be good. They'll do it for ten fifteen yards. They made them push damn near forty yards. Kyle Williams is exhausted. He looks miserable. He's retiring this year's this could be the last football game. He plays. And that's how you want to do. It's despicable. So we're gonna fix that. We got a couple of other solutions couple of other tweaks that are really gonna take Pro Bowl weekend to the next level. We're gonna make it something special despite all the criticisms of this modern game first and last year on ESPN radio and the ESPN app right now, it's time for straight talk. Because if you guys forget Seth wicker sham was a writer for us here at ESPN. One of our senior staff writers owner some great headshots we've got them pulled up right now on Google, and he has got a spectacular gays. But right now when you hear Seth wicker sham again, great writer for us walk through the door. You know, something wicked this way come and I don't mean that in a bad way. But you're getting ready to have someone go and start poking around in the building the way the New England Patriots found out last year. The article that documented a lot of attention in that building ended up being a major talking point for the off season. And now the Cleveland Browns Seth wicker sham again. I'm staring at this beautiful headshot. And all I can think is that's the face that looks directly into your eyes and says I'm going to destroy you from the inside out. That being said, I think Seth wicker Shams a good luck charm, by the way, in addition to being a great writer think Seth wicker sham is someone that propelled. This patriot team to greatness, sort of reverse psychology Yagi them a little bit. Because they needed to feel some of that heat from the outside the galvanized and now they're back in the Super Bowl. Gotta give credit where credit is due but Seth wicker sham again wrote a piece documenting Jimmy really, I think it was centered around Jimmy has lem the Browns owner learning more about that. Because the one thing that I don't think especially at the national level. We always give enough credence to is just how pervasive when you talk about culture in a sports team and that being set in the locker room and that being set by a head coach. No it goes way higher than that. And you get a very clear view of that through sets peace, and the one thing I come away from is really the one of the points that I've been hitting on for a while. Which is there is no greater force in sport. When it comes to building your team. Then continuity, and consistency. Because when you look at the volume of turnover in the Browns organization, it's made winning at a high level impossible for this team. And that's why going forward now their ability to stick with Freddie kitchens to give this a real chance to succeed is going to be. It's not gonna be Baker Mayfield. It's not going to be whatever offseason acquisition they make. It's not going to be who. Freddie kitchens stalls of the coordinator. It's going to be Kim. The has limbs hold their tongue enough in all of this to give anyone involved a chance to succeed. Now, Seth wicker sham joined Spain and Fitz last night here on ESPN radio. And I thought he was asked an interesting question should Browns fans be hopeful. We'll get that in a second. But I just kind of a general idea of what Seth wicker sham tried to get across in this piece. Talking about the Cleveland Browns, though, I really wanted to try to get inside. And learn what it's like to work on and try to determine as best. I could whether you know, they their methodology the way that they do football is gonna test. The way is gonna have to what a young quarterback can. And so that's what I was interested in learning about the process of learning about a lot of things I learned to win. You know, Hugh Jackson was told he was fired. He told John Dorsey and Jimmy house them to get the f out of his office. I learned that general mantra Sashi Brown was nicknamed Obama by Jimmy with you know, offended a lot of the people in the building. Even though he didn't mean it that way and. You know, I think there is a lot there, including you know, they broadcast poured once in I. In the building personalized my duty here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. My favorite part of that by far is that sound from the Dan lebatardshow hearing. Stugatz. Come in at the end, Stu gods? This bastion bastion of morality on that show coming in and making the clarity by accident. Because we always talk about these owners these usually a side project for a lot of these people. Well, for Jimmy has them that went haywire pilot flying j truck stops was the family business that he inherited and turned into a billion dollar enterprise. Some each worth like two point seven billion dollars. But when all of a sudden, the FBI and the IRS R rating, you're building because of a five year fraud scheme that had been going on. And all of a sudden that part of your life is in ruin you saw the extra attention paid to the football team wasn't exactly a good thing. Coming around here. It's endearing one an owner. And you heard is trying to ask questions is trying to learn more about the thing that he owns. Which to me? Yes is endearing on the surface. But when it seems like every conversation that he had in the building was used a pit others against each other. When it was almost sounding like the culture of fear that the patriots organization we talk about with their team that works because you've got people to stop the solidly build on at the top in Bella check. And Brady you didn't have any of that foundation in Cleveland. Instead, all you had is the fear of being fired that constantly loomed over this place in a lack of continuity, and that lack of continuity will undermine everything else that you're trying to do. Now. The other question is should the Browns have hope because Baker Mayfield seems to be the thing sitting in the middle of this that resembles hope through the years of draft mistakes through the years of bad front office decisions as far as hirings and firings there through quite frankly, the inability to even as an organization that came in wanting to value a forward thinking approach to the NFL that when it hired. Sashi Brown when it higher Paul Deepa Desta when it brought in Hugh Jackson wanted to commit itself to try to spin this forward, lack the intestinal fortitude to see it through in the way that was necessary and for everyone in that building. Be the thing that drives this and gives people enough hope that gives the has looms enough courage to say we've got to stick this out because we finally have the one thing we've been searching for and it's our grass now. And that was the interesting question asked to Seth wicker sham on Spain and Fitz last night was should the Browns be hopeful. Because the quarterback hasn't changed. He's only gotten better. I think the question will be can they keep him getting better? And can't they keep him. We're going to have a year to study him. It can they keep him ahead of the game. And that is going to be vital. But again, it's like whatever reason it happened. Whether it was lock telling the flood illustration day ended up with a guy who looks like he could be a legit franchise quarterback guy is a player. And he could be a fixture and icon in that city. And the only thing injuries that his way is this team history. That to me is fascinating to watch the.

"Welcome to Spain. And fits the podcast. Sometimes you find about out about dysfunction in championship culture, and it rocks your world, but other times, you can still find out about this function where it already exists, and you knew it existed, but just reading about it still shakes you to your core. That is where Cleveland Browns fans are right now. Spain and Fitz on ESPN radio the ESPN app. Siriusxm channel eighty Sarah. Spain Jason Fitz. Look, there's one reason everybody wants to talk about the Browns ad nauseam and has because there's this feeling of hope or around the quarterback situation. And there's this feeling that things have gotten better. But there's also this reminder that is much as we want to believe in the hype around Baker Mayfield in the future of the Browns. There is a level of dysfunction that has gotten the franchise to where it is right now Seth Wicker's from does a great job breaking it down. It's on the dot com right now. And when you read the inside story of the Cleveland Browns dysfunction is. Even worse to read than I thought, it would be in my mind yet, you know, I think talking about the dysfunction of the Browns was a bit like rubber necking a car crash over the last however long because it was apparent via their record the turnover at the coaching position. The the the flubs whether they be getting fined for texting on the sidelines or the amount of money that they owed coaches that they had let go mid contract all of it. Now, it feels like this is a particularly interesting dive into an organization because there is hope and because looking at having a resource like Baker Mayfield and looking at having a coach who managed despite all the overwhelming weight of failure. There to look competent to bring them victories to make good on the talent that they had all of those pieces then make this a hopeful time for Browns fans until you question whether or not they can really overcome. What is still a management and organizational? Head that has brought upon himself. And this franchise so much failure of late like has them still there. Right. And so if this what you and I have been talking about we were trying to figure out whether this was a good coaching position that people would want or not sure it looks like it draft picks, Baker, etc. But it's really still a poop Sunday with just a cherry on top until you can figure out whether that stench is gone and whether they've moved into a fully new era. Well, and I think the ownership portion of it is the most defeating portion of it because you we've joked before and really tried to educate people before you can really despise your team's coach your team's GM the players you cannot like your favorite your favorite teams quarterback. You can go across the board and be mad at any of these positions. Knowing full, well, there's an opportunity that it will change. You can't do anything about ownership being bad at their job. And that's what we what I think the deep dive Seth wicker Shim does such a nice job. And he's the guy that sort of broke into so much information around the patriots. And it was it was I opening. It's still I opening when you see what the has the ownership group of the Browns is incapable of doing and sort of the repetition that they go through the cycle. They go through of repeating their own mistakes to appoint that it falls on deaf ears. I mean culture has to be fixed. And I don't know how you fix a culture where the ownership assertive tone deaf to the issue and continues to make the same mistakes. Well, the thing is though fits if you look if you sort of read between the lines here, the aren't the exact same mistakes. What's what's continuous there? And what's consistent is that has them is not willing to see anything through long enough. He's willing to buy into a plan, but not patient enough to see if it pays off an I, of course, totally related when it got to the point where he said he was reaching out to other people who had helped turn around failure or had used rebuilds in in a in a beneficial land. One of them was the with the cubs when deal obscene came in. And and cubs fans knew there was going to be a rebuild. It was inevitable that midway through that a year to win when you're looking at a..

"Everything is thing for my things. The problem is what you're saying is you kinda made a generalized versus Eric Dickerson. And as top of the segment used that Kurt Warner Andrey rice jokes drilling the point about what Jerry Rice, that making it Ajay right for Eric Dickerson not a Kurt Warner versus a current one nj. Right versus Eric Dickerson. I mean, it was Kurt Warner, Jerry Rice in number of other former players. Like I'm pretty sure my dad, my goal senior who you're gonna, hear ongoing wingo coming up, had a pretty strong reaction to this is well, which is the same across the board for a lot of these guys so it everyone knows Jerry Rice versus Eric Dickerson. And I said, the names Jerry Rice and Kurt Warner being, I won't say a line against this, but at the same time, speaking out, not the same message as Eric Dickerson sorta. Undermines the cause right away in a lot of this. So no, everyone knows it's not a Jerry Rice versus Eric Dickerson thing, but it's a lot of people apparently looking at Eric Dickerson like we weren't consulted in the way that your purporting with this some sort of hall of famers board. That seemed to be what both Kurt Warner and Jerry Rice were disputing was that they were a part of some hall of famers board or that they weren't somehow on board for health insurance and all this for all players. Not just a hall of famers now right now time for straight. Talk brought to you by straight talk wireless, best phones, best networks, no contracts. We'll get back to that. But we also had an interesting developed development taking place yesterday in O'Connor. ESPN senior writer got a book, got a book chronicling, the New England Patriots of all things. And we are a lot about New England this off season, a lot of things going on behind closed doors there, and a lot of them Seth wicker sham wrote that great PC year ago about a lot of the things going on behind closed doors and Ian O'Connor, sort of expanded upon. One of the thing that became. Came the main subject, the main storyline through the offseason, which was the friction between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, which seemed to be Oduh, but we get a little further explanations. He joined Scott van pelt last night on sports center. I think the first thing, Scott, it's remarkable took seventeen eighteen years for any fracture to come into public view, right? It's a testament to them really that it didn't happen for so long. But once Bella drafted Garoppolo in two thousand fourteen and said that night, he cited Tom's age contract status and said, I'd rather be early than late at this position. It made it inevitable and it happened last year, our very own Seth wicker Shanta a masterful job, aided portraying the escalating tension between those two. It came down to garoppolos presence and also seventeen eighteen years of being coached in an unforgiving way by Bella chick war Brady down. And then of course, the way Bella check marginalized. Alex Guerrero, his business partner in life coach, and it all sort of came together to represented last draw. I was told by a number of sources that as. As late March Brady wasn't sure. He was going play again for Bella chick first and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. And that was the source of a lot of controversy surrounding this patriots offseason and always go back to. It makes an overwhelming amount of sense, right? Like if you look at any great company, any great business, any great tandem, how whatever you wanna look anything that successful eventually. Feeds enough of the human ego because we all want to feel validated. We all want credit for what we believe we're doing. That's one of those interesting things about Golden State to me is Golden State. We hear about all this. Well, you know, you have no idea what's going on behind closed doors here. We don't know what it looks like, but we're sold on the outside this selfless brand of basketball, a guy like Kevin Durant coming over and agreeing to play for less and do all these things in order for the team to have success, and we wonder, all right, what takes down Golden State. And I posted this yesterday when I was doing sportscenter on Snapchat, which is could just personal greed. Could those very human emotions just play into this after awhile? I don't feel like I'm getting enough credit for the thing that we're doing well..

"He's like you said he's a trendsetter as far as the social media world influencers, he's famous for non football things. Yeah, I would say that. Yeah, I would say he's some of the stuff he doesn't wanna be famous for. Right, right. Yeah. Part of it heads the other way it goes. It just happened to work out that way. You know, just we gotta be careful sometimes which put on there. Yeah. So I don't have to worry about it. You know, I don't deal with that at that level, but I think that's where we are. This is a generation that that stuff is important in for him as long as the money. Has it negatively affected his football though? No, I don't think it's negatively affected as because he's still a good player. You know, you see him. Doing the antics on the sideline. Those antics been going on the sidelines for years. We can go up and down football stadiums, and silence every single Saturday and Sunday in you see a player in frustrating moment display something on television. If you wanted to panic hammered away. It's the same thing that, I guess, screaming, hollering. This early speaking idea. I've seen coaches break, good boards. Yeah, I've seen it all on the side repeatedly going through what he means kicking the net and crying and just carrying on the do the crime. What about when it gets evil? He looks like the soccer people neymar and all them when he get hurt, but the divas fall on the ground in this same thing being around this burger, do being biggest drama. Queen going isn't the diva stuff, though part of the all of it. I mean, if if I'm carrying the point where on in tears on the sideline, but I don't even know. Maybe I can't question. His emotional state. I can't. I can't do that. Narcan. Allow you to do it as my new co host. I cannot allow you to question his emotional state because we don't know what's going on in his mind at that time from an emotional standpoint. So we send, it's not football. We don't know what to do by be, you know, we don't know. We have no idea, but as far as the sideline, extra curricular activities in rant. So whatever you wanna call them, it goes on every single Xilai. So Seth wicker sham was on TV talking about teams that were interested in Odell and the fact that they hired a private investigator to look into it. Check it out. Yeah, and I'm not sure it's totally been resolved even though they've signed him to this huge contract, but I think that when Odell Beckham junior was in that viral video from Paris with the aspiring model and what appeared to be legal drugs..

"You just there's a great explanation. People that think I react sec freshman year JD. We don't want that goes right. We don't want. We don't want those guys. Adults. We got kids now right on. Thanks. All right guys. See later on Saturday. He. Yes, he did. Michael Thompson? Yes. Insider now? Well, incident insider on the Thompson family? Yeah, that's for sure. Yeah. He said that he thinks Claes gonna retire a warrior. That money isn't an object for. The guys that own the team is going to go into the new building next year that everything by the way. I mean, I don't wanna get in clay's pocket plays money, but why would he leave. Max little shoe deal to. He's got to shoot. He's got the China where I mean, China clay clay would not know what that is trying to claim. He's won three chips in four years with no end in sight, right? I'm not looking to Lee if they're gonna. Pay me. I'm not going anywhere. That's crazy. That's crazy. 'cause people keep saying, but he's overlooked and he's this and I'm like, dude, no, really like that is a team over here. I always tell people sometime when you repress clippings, when you watch shows, when you listen to shows that's just people talking, you walk into these organizations, you walk into, you know, these different locker rooms. That's the furthest thing ever being talked about in those locker rooms is like, remember last year I read that Seth wicker sham article, and I literally thought that the New England Patriots building was on fire like like Bill Belichick and Tom Brady are like literally everyday about the just come to blows. At some point, they just who've they worried about this and worrying about that, and that wasn't the case. And I think it's the same thing with the Golden State Warriors like we don't know what's going on in that locker room in that dynamic winning brings a certain culture that for them, it works because it's not one person who has to be. The ringleader doesn't is not where and I'm not helping. I'm not saying it's the wrong way, but regardless of whatever happens here in Los Angeles LeBron is the Ringling. Yeah, like everything that for the Lakers to win. It evolves around twenty three, everything. A team like that with the exception of the warriors. And that's that's so to me, when you look at what's happening here in Los Angeles, it's still a moving piece like it's the Lakers team of two thousand eighteen nineteen honestly will not look the same in nineteen and twenty. That's just be honest. There's going to be some movement there be maybe another max player. There are the players. You know there could be a trade. Within the team, you know, Josh heart, Brandon Ingram, you know, possibly Lonzo this, what we're seeing now is still under construction. You know what I mean? For sure. The warriors is like, you know, if plays like, I'm happy where I'm at. I'm good. I, I played my role a make good money. I'm I'm, I'm fine it. I'm gonna make a slightly different case for the same reason. Okay. He has the best job in professional sports, would you mean as as number three options, but but here he plays in a city that he loves karate players in city that I look. I know that in southern California, we love it here and for good reason, northern California's a really great place to live this. It's gonna raise razor. It's a great place to live, but what you get down to so Cal and is hardly I understand, but it's not like he's playing in Milwaukee or Utah, or one of these places that if it's not l. a. or Miami, that's a, that's a pretty darn good place to be. He go, he's on team. That's one three and four years. He's a vital piece of what it is they're doing. There's nobody that looks at the wars and things Avoca do without Klay they know how important Klay to what it is they're doing. He gets none of the negativity when when it and not that there's a lot to go around there because there isn't much, but only when he shooting bed, but that happens and everybody knows that he's a great shooter and it's gonna come back when you're talking about the person that revolves around in Houston..

"Hundred seventy two telephone number a seth wicker sham writing about bill belichick again today i just tweet zip malcolm butler i told you they happen to we're never going to know if anybody has it it'd be worker sham seth worker sham tweeted out a few minutes ago according to sources in the room i love these that's a good source bill belichick was among most coaches who spoke out against in game usa video and was among a few coaches who spoke out against the so called josh mcdaniels rule on legal and competitive grounds well both those things make sense you don't need somebody in the room to tell you that probably guessed hate that damn tablet hates it like he was spiking it yet okay the microsoft surface that they have to use in the nfl sideline he's always complaining about that plus when you're the best coach in the league you don't need all that extra technology like if anything that might help even the playing field a little bit so he's saying i don't need that i'll i'll cold school coach i don't need these guys being able to get all the replays and see all this stuff so quickly on their tablets and the other one maybe defending josh mcdaniels a little bit or the idea that you know his teams always advanced deep into the playoffs and he doesn't want gaza and his team to maybe distracted or officially signed somewhere else and not have the ability like mcdaniels to change his mind and come back he's going to have to deal with with that one more than teams that missed the playoffs and who cares if they're coordinators aren't up for head coaching jobs anyway so they did pass the change of rule on on the catch thing and i'm convinced that you're going to have just as much confusion with the new rule as you had under the old rule of course it doesn't really matter what the rule is because they didn't get it right one hundred percent of the time anyway so let's say they screw this went up fifty percent or thirty percent of the time this screw this went up compared to last time you're still going to have people complaining about what's the catch and what is an account it's i mean like you said they've gotten it wrong the new rule to.

"And jerry's gotta decide now does he accept his diminish power does he accept his diminished standing and as they move on or does he fight like hell bike he told roger goodell was my friend seth wicker sham explain with his colleague don vannetta junior over espn that he comes adam of everything that he has the longer the jerry hillock he's entitled and i think jerry's making a huge mistake i think he's been hypocrite i think you can't live by the code protect the shield and then have it turned out that doesn't apply to you can't do it it's not right it's a boxy by definition but people won't want what people want rich people want especially what they want and billionaires in particular the irony here is that jerry jones isn't just damaging himself and his standing and his power in his influence in the national football league a place a short time ago where he really reign supreme there is a real chance and this isn't like some psychological mumbo jumbo i'm telling you this is a guy who's been around nfl teams that gop themselves to a state of paranoia and fear and anger and frustration it affects the team i've seen the first hand jerry jones go into this dark place against the league has real potential to make its way to that locker room and that football team when they need stability mouths and let's go further jason garrett is a lot of things but a firm hand he is not a guy like man i really want that guy in the trenches with me i don't think so zeeks gone are losing football games dakhil overwhelmed jerry jones and made his fight the right fight maybe he's not is still going to lose both off the field his influence with the owners and potentially on the field any chance his team has to keep its head above water until zeke comes back jerry jones might be a very good businessmen but he is finding new and remarkable ways to be a really really terrible owner of the national football league and i i'm going to get will brenson's perspective on this he he covers the league for cbs sports at com national rider does a great podcast the picks six and.
