"I really admire how you've handled yourself and the job you've done. You really have done a just a lovely job. And i do have a sentimental streak in me for that old late night show and it's really meaningful to me that someone classy and smart is hosting that show. You know it's it makes me feel good. I'll sleep better tonight. Well it means a ton coming from you and very it feels very full circle. The first talk show. I ever did. Was you when. I'm sure someone dropped out. And you guys just called up to seventeen we. Actually i remember. We did not invite you you. Stu came during rehearsals and we felt so bad. We just kept rolling definitely didn't air. You talked me. God knows it was too short. No it was only like two minutes. You said a lot of really enact you said a lot of really controversial stuff. You had very right off the bat. I jumped right into it. You had a lot of theories. Let's just say that very strong. You had a weird religion you had built. And i wanna this was thousand and one and everything i was saying was also not okay then. This isn't a case. I'm not saying it was a different stuff. You were saying. No no no. This is not one of those. Let's look at the tape. And now in retrospect in two thousand and one that stuff you saying was hate-filled was completely off the rails. The crowd is furious. And i don't know why there was a crowded rehearsal just to find my own bad improv. Now i lost. I lost everybody right away. Thank you i. It is really you know again. Everybody who was part of the legacy of keeping this show alive. I oh great. Debt to Particularly how much watched yours. Yours was the one i watched the most. And so this is. This is great to. I'm getting i'm telling letterman that And that's a powerful guy. Can he can fuck you up. You're going to be beaten tomorrow. Listen and let's what i'd like to do. Is i'd like to follow this up with at a time when we are allowed to dine together I leave come in at a new york. It would be really fun to download so I will reach out. When i'm in new york. "You find like for example. The lorne michaels of at all lawrence got saturday night live. He was the whole reason. I got the late night show. And i'm forever indebted to him for that. Obviously i mean he gave me my career but it is interesting when you're in the peculiar situation of producing saturday night live but he's also producing the late night show and it was always clear to me and obviously could never blame him for a second for this but it's so funny because many of us. I don't know if you're one but we kind of turn into a dad. You know we we will have our own dads and yes. Of course you seem to love your. He's a father figure. One hundred percent Yeah he's a father figure and then you realize that he's got this child called sunnat live and then he's got this other child called the late night show now now of course he has the tonight show and i think wheel of fortune fortune and all these other shows that but back in my day it was. You know he did start live and he did late night and that was Other than the occasional movie that was that was it but they're iraq fro center. Those are the two things and it was so clear to me. That senate lives his real son. You know and i'm it's not. It's not clear that i'm his real son you know. We haven't had a dna test. And i'm sort of this. His other son is this amazing athlete. And i'm kind of a stoner. I don't know. I guess. I think of it to feel good about it that i s. and l.'s is farm and i worked there really longtime until he said to me. You should go start your own farm right because it is. You're taking the skills you learned there and ultimately and i'm sure he felt the same way about you or else you never would've given you the job. He has more confidence in you and your ability to make decisions than he does. Maybe for a lot of the people. He spends a lot of attention on At snl on any given week and also should be noted. you know. I do this. Show with mike shoemaker. Who you know really well. And and he was. You know worked so closely with lauren. All those years of so. We as a team i think lauren looks at us and or at least the way we sort of justify the fact that we. He's never hear literally we see him. I'll take us out to dinner and tell us we're doing a good job but it's not like he ever comes down and says i feel like the lights are a little hot. Who's who's doing props now. Lack of realism. Yeah so i remember. When i was head writer and doing update that he called me because he was upset with the way the shows had gone. Maybe for just three or four episodes a season dip or anything. And i remember saying well i think with update and he's snapped at me. Updates the last thing. I'm worried about and i realized that was the praise i was going to get for update and i just i like i was in a tennessee williams. Play the last thing. Miss the michael. I would so flattered. And i was like. Oh that's what you get yup from. And then you have to take and realize he meant it like he did. He wasn't worried about dating thought. Update was in a good place. And then we got onto all the things that i could be doing better with the rest of the show. But i think that yeah. He's not and the other thing is you think. Because he's lorne michaels he's going to be really good at at telling you exactly what he needs it exactly how to do it and trust me kid. I've been in this business for so long and you gotta do xyz. But he really. Isn't that i think also one of the reasons the show thrives is he kind of like you say let's everybody find their own way and then either works through. It doesn't but he doesn't have time to individually one on one give people guidance I don't have you been reading. The mike nichols book Us it's really great. Someone just gave it to me. Everybody says when you went to dinner with him or you did a play with him as director he would just tell stories about himself and famous people but you the more time you spent with him. You realize oh. I think those stories were supposed to like within. That story was a piece of advice that he wanted me to take with me but there was a bit of and i feel like lauren's like that a lot that you realize halfway through story he's telling you about some play. He did it toronto university that it's about you. What you're saying is that confucius would tell a story about a grasshopper and a frog trying to cross a stream and it'd be great magisterial beauty in it and knowledge that you can relate to yourself. Lauren does that. But it's a story. About mick jagger and paul cy and tried to cross a stream and jennifer lawrence is on the other side and the same if you think about the story it really is the same message that confucius was giving and it's in prague during the bill and we flew there with chris dodd. Someone once said when lorne gives the no. Do you know andrew steele. I don't if you know Andrew steel Said that when. Lauren gives a note to someone who then gives the note to the writer. It's like a tiger told a pyramid and now the pyramid has to tell you it's not even that it's in a different language. Different beings with different. It's hopeless. Yeah tory when you got the job because yeah absolutely. So how'd you find out. How did he tell you he didn't tell me. The network called my agent. My agent called me. And i swear to god i think i don't think lorne was celebrating me getting that job because i think a lot of people were coming up to him and saying wow you chose a complete unknown with really no on camera experience to replace david letterman. Gutsy move lorn and i think he was rightly scared. He might say now. Of course i always knew..

"Welcome to another episode of conan. O'brien needs a friend. I put a slight pause. Did you hear that. Yeah i said welcome to and i. It was the slightest pause to create a little bit of drama. Did you forget what the name of your podcast is did. I forgot what we were doing. But i'm now passing it off as this calculated micro pause because i'm a true master of the form. That's i'm gonna pass off the fact that i don't know where i am or what i'm doing. How are you guys. How you doing sonal cool. Do you need more. I don't know right now. that's great. Nothing from us sonal and nothing. But i will say there are mitigating circumstances. Sonal you are carrying to living human beings within you. Yes you've got to be exhausted. I all. I wanna do with nap in. Eat your stopping me from that right now and i just so every second people are listening to on the podcast is time that you're not announce your unborn. Children are being denied sustenance and sleep and rest and nourishment. Yeah you you owe them an apology. Jeff any idea what the names will be. We can mirko mark and mark. I know but they can't go with that. That's just that was shacks idea. And i don't know if people listened from one to the next. I hope you do in. Which case match thing will make sense. But that's what shacks idea. We're not doing it right. You don't wanna see us did in the listen to your you know you have to be like. Oh yeah that's what shack said and then you know you're right to a previous episode. The right people wanna go listen to it. I can't believe i have to tell you that you're right. I shouldn't do that. I'm too self hating so it's more like and people should here. That's my natural reaction is no one has hurt. I always assume. No one's heard any other one of these. But i i shouldn't do that. I should just assume that everyone's listen to all of them multiple times because pretty much a religion so as you know schatzer somewhere in the middle we could find for too. You shack suggested mark and marco. By the way. I'll tell you guys. I was in forget we even where i was. I was in mission hills. Yes as mission hills and a guy came running up to me with a mask and he was very excited and he said konan-konan. I just want you to know kosice clearly. A fan of the podcast. I wanna say it was like thirty thirty five years old. He said i just want you to know. I don't care what shack and charles barkley said you. You could have been in the nba seeriously. He was wounded for me and he said oh and say hi to matt and say hi to and i went. I will when he went. But you could if you could have. Don't let them put you down. Like he was looking at you while he said. Yeah i know i know and i said i'm so sorry about your glaucoma. Absolutely insane thought. I really could have made it the nba. I only i only say that to. Nba stars to get the ball rolling so that they can shit on me and we can have some fun but we have a great show. My guest today of course was a cast member on saturday night. Live for thirteen seasons where he served as head writer and host of weekend update. Now here's where things really get interesting. Now he hosts a late. Night with. Seth meyers on nbc. So he and i are careers. Overlap in about thirty five different ways. And so i'm delighted to talk to this gentleman. I think this could be fascinating therapeutic. Very excited to speak with. Seth meyers seth. Welcome we're about to have our longest conversation. I mean we've met each other met. We've met a bunch of times. I will tell you the fascinating thing about this podcast. If that's even what they're called that's what they're called. Right there podcasts. Yes exactly this radio. Show this Format is that. You're not alone. So this is the longest conversations i've had with just about anybody in the business. This podcast is my excuse to talk to people that i like and i admire and i don't ever really sit down and talk to them. Thank you for doing this. I really appreciate it. I'm really genuine looking forward to it. Well we don't have about it that's all we have because we don't have much overlap. In what kind of jobs. We god no or buildings. We've worked yeah. I know it's you and i have an insane amount of overlap right. You're probably one of the few people. I can talk to in the world who has experienced many of the things i've experienced so let's get into it because you've murdered committed murder murder. I've been a part of you know how it happens when you're new at. Snl where you do a murder for someone else in hopes it will help get you know that they'll dafa your sketch. Yeah it's called crisscross. It's usually another writer who's not getting catches on and they always convince you if you murder someone. I'll laugh at your sketch and when you think about it. This crime makes no sense at all. No never barely because there's no way to you can't stand up and complain when they don't laugh at your schedule. That's what happened to me. Is joe candy. Said if you can kill this guy who has the apartment above me. That i really want murder him. I won't be linked to the crime. And then i'll laugh at your sketch. I murdered this person. Who will go unnamed a canadian guy and who was living here in manhattan and he got to move into the apartment and then never laughed at my sketches and many of my sketches were well also though in his defense if he laughed at your sketches that can be used as evidence later if they were not good. That's what he said he only alone. This is so glasses crazy. That's what he said he said. I can't laugh at your sketches now. The police snooping around. And i've already wasted your time because my are my rifts are known as real time wasters and nothing is gain except you are one of the most liked people and respected people in this crazy world of late night and i didn't realize i always assumed you were a writer who like me lawrence said here stand behind this canon because everyone else is dead and then somehow years later i was like a performer. You am i correct. You were hired at start live to be a performer. The i was hired as a cast member. I i did not know that. A lot of people don't which i think speaks to. How unmemorable performer. It was not the right fit. I mean it was very lucky. That happened way. Obviously but it was not a time where i felt as though i have my feet under me particularly well at the show. I started with people like chris. Catan will ferrell and tracy morgan. My thought well they. They're very good..

"Our first. Two guests are writers for late. Night with seth meyers and you may know them from other places. Ben warheit played an awful wall street. Guy in the joaquin. Phoenix movie joker. Jeff rate is known for making hilarious online video sketches where he plays all the characters ben. Jeff hello go Jeff you make all these amazing videos on tiktok and instagram i. I don't know how many you've made over the years. I don't know if you keep track i. I've made a lot of videos and a lot of bad videos. Only post the good stuff. Only really. there's there is a a pile a pile of all. That's the real talent. I think knowing what not to post the talent. That's a good point Better that way before you entered obviously the writing for late nine. You're you're creating tons of content still in videos that you were in school. You're majored in neuroscience. Yeah yeah that's yeah. I i did like doing the research and but i found research to be really slow ultimately in a lab. And you're like asking one very very specific question that take several years to get a possible. Answer yeah in addition to having a background in science you also act. Including what am i ve favorite films because i found it. So chilling joker. Yeah favorite experience. Why was it your favorite. I felt like working on that. I was just learning a lot very very quickly. Like for instance. I wasn't supposed to be doing the stunt where i got killed spoiler alert. There was supposed to be a stunt double who got shot and falls and like it is falling on the concrete and crawling and blah. 'cause that's technically stunt. The stunt double shows up to set and he's wearing a different suit than i am and i think technically like you know they didn't know how they would. Maybe they would have to delay day or something like that That's huge amounts of money and inconvenience like you ruin the suits work. There was like a custom sued so it wasn't like they could just like men's warehouse. I was like i can do. This can fall and you know. Do the stunt. I was a child gymnast. Like i know how to do that stuff. Okay yeah i can feel. I just tested this day. I can still do it. Yeah okay then we just try doing. I'm running away from joaquin. And he's firing a gun at me. And i'm like they decided on the day of the like maybe you've already been shot in the like but once and what does that look like. I haven't liked prepped. Running with a bullet in my. But let's try try it and then after after walking comes in like empties the gun into the back of me and runs up the stairs and jed quiet. They'll be they'd yell cut. And then i'd get up and then me and todd and joaquin would go watch playback and be like we'll how did that look that look right. I don't think that's how you'd run if you had a bullet and you're like no i do. That's exactly how it is. And i and i was just felt like i was learning so lightning vast ultimately at the end of it. I felt like it really paid off. And like after i wrapped walking pulled me aside and said some really nice things to me. That was very encouraging awesome. He said hey man. I like the way you like it. I would like to offer you ten thousand dollars to shoot you for real sometime. All right we have a couple of great games for you. Are you ready. Ready to dive into some games. Jack ass excellent so. This first game is called real or fake hallmark original movie. We'll describe the plot of a made for tv hallmark original movie. Who teaches him about the mystical traditions of ireland and also about love. I've seen that on disney channel. That's a real movie. you see it. Yeah that's a real one actually seen that movie. I don't know if i've seen that movie. But i've seen two movies. That have best guys. I got it right all right then. Here's your here's your chance. All in having trouble paying her college. Tuition beth nolan gets a part time job at the casino and befriends dealer maureen who works there to pay off her. No good ex husband earls debts. Maureen teaches beth poker and when beth enters the world of competitive poker-playing she finds herself at the state championships up against none other than earl and the stakes are all in. It sounds good to me like i. It sounds honestly. It sounds airtight. Like but but you know. I'm an airtight. Maybe i'm playing the odds here. A little bit like maybe. Maybe i think in hallmark movies. They're not gonna take time to

I'm actually out of stories and then you're like just kidding. I could keep doing this so anymore. So many more yeah. What kind of response did you get. A lot of people were like. Oh my god we had no idea it was like that and now we're looking at things in a different way. You know because. I do feel like until these protests. I think people thought that the cops were always right you know. I think it was a lot of that. Like i can remember grown men and women that i know being like well yeah. The community says that the cops were crazy but the cop said that it was the person who was in. Fact nuts bro. You know grown grown adults. And i thought oh well okay. Great okay all right jordan from an italian word meaning scratch. it's the spray painted artwork. You see on the sides buildings graffiti. Yeah that's right. I think going pretty pretty well actually only got a couple of fights which actually to me. I feel like they were just missed. Communications that led to your slightly spirited disagreements nico. You're in the middle of shooting superstore when all of this happened right. Yeah we were. We had only one episode left to film and then we had to shut down production. Yeah we went up to burbank and we cleaned out his trailer and took the toilet paper with us. We did like walk around. The superstar sent seeing if we could find toilet and mysteriously all the toilet. Paper onset disappeared really. Isn't that interesting yeah Before any of us got to it somebody else. Well i mean you could also say that you have you have some really great set designers who are concerned about accuracy and they knew store set is going to be out of toilet paper. So let's take that is that is the one great thing about working on a show set in superstore. Is that anything i wanted. I could just ask for when i moved into our apartment. This was before i was dating. Zeke i needed a lot of new stuff for my apartment. And i just sort of right around. The set was like that espresso machine asks. What about that. Trump and the GOP Campaign Against Reality
"The president and his allies decided on closing message for the final days of the campaign wine about social media pretend the pandemic is over for more on this. It's time for a closer look. There's a lot you can say about Donald Trump's inner circle and the leadership of the Modern Republican Party. But when you boil it down, it's basically just a collection of shy can't take Weirdos. Then people who collect ceramic pigs in sit by their windows writing down license plate numbers for no reason take for example House Minority Leader Kevin, McCarthy. You showed up to one of trump's rallies yesterday claimed republicans are going to take back the House McCarthy then belched up this I think English sentence about House Speaker Nancy, Pelosi a watch you watch Nancy Pelosi hand. And I promise you this. I won't thank her with it but I'll banged the into the socialism and yes to America. What No. I'll bang end to the socialism and yes to America, that sounds like a poorly translated leaflet dropped on Moscow during the Cold War why all these guys talk like rip off dollar store. Action. Figures made in. Eastern Europe. Your grandma will get you for Christmas. Oh Wow. It's a fuzz goodyear. Let me pull the string. The leaders of the hundred gop beer. Basically just a bunch of goofy old buds. I said it pods. Take a guy is still working at your hometown bowling alley thirty years after high school because he gets free disco fries blessed all the shoe sporadic and huff and that is a lot. For example Republicans held a hearing on big tech companies yesterday just to complain about supposed social media. Bias against conservatives which it's not thing. Now, there are progressives like Elizabeth Warren Tonight's guest, Bernie Sanders you really do want to break up big tech monopolies that have consolidated too much power but Republicans just WanNa. whine about mean tweets they don't like the best example of that came from Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson when he complained about an obviously satirical tweet this Dorsey. You talked about your house toward misinformation and then you will you will block misinformation if it's about against civic integrity election interference or voter suppression give you a tweet. There was put up on twitter says Senator Ron. Johnson is my neighbor in strangle our dog buttons right in front of my four year old son and three year old daughter the Keith refused to investigate. This is a complete line, but important to retreat and note that there are more my lies to come. How could that not be a violation voice oppression? Obviously, if people think I'm strangling my neighbors. They may not show the polls that would be worse oppression and another thing Mr Dorsey last night by doorbell rang late at night. So went to answer when I opened the door there was a flame in bag APU on the front step. So I tried to stamp out the fire but I got poo all over my shoes this clearly enact the voter suppression by the Neighborhood Teens because if I pooh-poohed on my shoes, I'll be too embarrassed to go vote. Peacock is live: Heres everything you need to know
"He caught. The last of the big streaming services has finally launched nationwide, but at joint a crowded room, streaming services, including busy, plus and that Blix. So how does this stack up? I'm Roger, Chang into your daily charge. Beckley I don't have to answer that question because with me. Is Our media expert, John? Salzman and software services. Reviewer Alison. Danisco, welcome both you. Thanks all right so John with you. He is live after having launched in Beta mode to caucus users a couple months ago, so so give us a land now. What is the streaming wards landscape? Look like this is basically the last of the big new services to land at least as far as we know. We had apple and Disney plus come in November than we had depending if you consider it bigger. Bigger not clubby came in April followed by Hbo Max in May, and now finally we have peacock, and it's a little bit different than the rest of those, because it not only is, it has big budget originals big back catalog, like most of those other services do, but it's also doing some other things that are digging a little bit when the others I it has. It's going to have live news. Life sports other sorts of news and sports replays highlights that kind of thing and crucially has a free tear at as a tier with advertising we can watch about two thirds of the catalog just by signing up and not paying anything there are ways you can take out the ads and unlock the full catalogue if you WanNa pay, but having that sort of on ramp that free just sign up and start watching thing. It's something that these other big services in the streets haven't tried yet. Yeah, I would just sort of generally speaking. Have we talked about the free cheering a bit but? In terms of these other players out there have any cover merged as must have service to rebel Netflix's certainly a streaming service, the new streaming service that's landed with the biggest slash by far is Disney plus. One media analyst when it launched last year there was one media analyst and widely followed one who called it one of the greatest product launches of all time. To give you a sense. Track Google search trends around these launch dates, and the Google search trends for Netflix are a good baseline. You know it's established. It's always very popular as a search gives you a good baseline of how other services stack up and people, search addressed most of these other services. They haven't crossed the level of net search interest, even on launch days, whereas Disney plus like quadrupled the amount of Netflix interests on its launch day now it's come down since then, but among these new services Disney is the one to beats, and nobody has even come close so far. Are also you've been testing out the service. How has the experience on Peacock Ben? Overall I've been having a really positive experience with peacock so far to be honest. I wasn't expecting all that much. Since we do already have Sumani streaming services, but the fact that it has this free tier is John mentioned where you can still watch. Tons of movies and TV shows with ADS does make it stand out from competitors like Netflix and Hulu it gives you something for free that similar to say a Pluto TV or a to B, but with this premium streaming. Streaming service interface, so it looks really good, and you also have the opportunity to upgrade if you want to. It's pretty easy to navigate. It has a few quirks, and there are some features that are still missing but overall. It's a solid free surface at launch. If you don't mind watching those ads in terms of that that user experience that the navigation the experience itself. How does it stack up against DISAPP- loss or Netflix's or some other more Polish premium services so in. In my mind, peacock isn't quite trying to be a Netflix or Hulu or HBO Max. It has a similar tile layout, and you can browse things by TV shows and movies and get recommendations, but it's kind of doing something different, and it's probably not going to replace any of those others for you, but it's something you can get for free to have more options. It reminds me a little bit of Amazon prime video in a way like on that one you can get. Get, a lot of shows and movies included as part of your prime subscription, but you'll find others mixed in that. You do have to pay for so on peacock. You'll find some shows with a little purple feather in the corner, which means you have to upgrade premium to watch them, but they're so plenty of free options to. And since we're in this time of economic uncertainty, you know free services a welcome option, even if you don't watch it every single day, right? Joan. Beyond this free tier is there anything else about peacock that makes stand out, or the folks should know about? Yeah, definitely, the frontier is obviously the first thing that people are going to encounter when they try to sign up and they realize they don't have to provide any sort of payment information. Start watching. But beyond that you know. Being in the pandemic, there's a lot of things that peacock wanted to have available right now for its launch that aren't a manifest really until next year or later, for example, the entire reason that it's launching right now in the middle of July is that originally peacock witches, NBC's streaming service thought they'd be able to piggyback on all the interest in the Olympics. That should be happening right now. Is the broadcasting partner for the Olympics in the United States, and so of course everyone remembers every Olympic season how there's just like blanket coverage on NBC. All of NBC's other cable channels. But because we don't have that until next year, that's a huge driver to get people interested and knowledgeable that that the service exists. That just doesn't exist right now. Also their originals. They have nine original series at launch, but just like everybody else all their production of new content. At least any live action content had to be suspended in March, and so they don't have as much in their pipeline. That's going to be ready to release win. They had hoped to release it as have if we weren't in this situation where everybody's lockdown the also could you break down the? Tiers, obviously, there's the free cheer that's at basement. What are you getting with those I? Think there's two different paid tears. He kinda run through them. And you actually get sure so in the free tear you get thirteen thousand hours of TV shows, Movies News Life Sports. Some of the biggest name shows you'll find. There are and Recreation, Thirty Rock, law and order. Order Svu but you know. Some of those are also currently on Netflix and Hulu to so there's some confusion there potentially, and you also know that the office won't be coming to peacock until January when it's calm when his contract with Netflix runs out, but in the meantime you'll also find current episodes of NBC shows one week later on that free tier. In terms of movies, you've got some big slightly older hits like Jurassic Park the Bourne identity, the Matrix and also newer kind of Oscar Z. ones like phantom thread and tally, and so for something. That's free. You'll probably find something. You WanNa Watch, but then you'll also find these two paid tears. One is five dollars a month which gives you access to the full Peacock Library which is about twenty thousand hours of TV, and movies, but you'll still see ads on that one. If you WANNA GO AD free. It costs ten dollars a month and you'll get still get that full libraries well. A few things you'll find on the premium tears, but not the free tier are all of the episodes of peacock originals, the major one launch being brave new world, and you'll also find more new movies and also next day access to new episodes of current. NBC shows one interesting thing that we haven't really seen before is that you'll get early access to some shows like late night with Seth Meyers and the tonight show. Show with Jimmy Fallon the night that they air, so you can watch them at eight PM instead of eleven thirty pm, but that would actually start until those shows are back in the studio and not running from home during the pandemic. Okay We've talked about this before, but they're just too many strips out there. They're all asking for money. Yes, peacock has a free tier, but there's clearly they want people to. Upgrade to these premium tears. How does market support so may services Comey Services? Can a household actually afford to pay for so from the experts that I've talked to and the research that they've been doing? It seems like there's a couple of interesting things going on one is that the total number of streaming services that people are subscribed to and are trying is going up now. That's partially because in the. The pandemic so many entertainment choices that we normally would that normally would keep us from streaming aren't happening right now, and we're all locked up in our homes, and so it's the primary way other than regular TV. Your needs that you would entertain yourself when you're stuck at home anyway, that's to do with it, but even before the pandemic. We were starting to see that all. This wave of new services what starting to tap higher, the amount of services people were trying and also subscribing to. But what we've found in the pandemic from the research that I've seen as that people are also much more willing to cancel subscriptions so. It's mostly price sensitivity factor as you know. Jobless numbers are soaring, and as people are reconsidering howl. They dedicate their money every month. Once they hit the point where a free trial ends or this ends. They're more willing to quit. Because they become more educated on other options that don't require payment that conserve their entertainment needs, you know. Alison, she mentioned to be There's other ones like that. That are free services that peacock sort of straddles the line with people are realizing that they have those options to if they don't WanNa, keep paying

"Rockefeller with the cast of the good place. Everybody they can't. We all just watched the series finale. You all shot in August and September. You watched it together as a group last night. How what was more emotional shooting the finale alley or watching it as a group together last night? What Ted Watching Ted watching? I don't know I don't know it was pretty the redwoods that was pretty emotional. The the Final goodbyes that was pretty emotion. Also your speech killed me. Wave wave speech. lavelle ever recover from when we shot on the bridge. It's called the artist's bridge in Paris. That was impossible treaty emotional especially especially since they sort of formulated that as the last thing that we shot was that scene where we sort of try to say goodbye to each other and then Mike our Creator. Peter kept it rolling and then we were just sobbing on the bridge and then ran out and was like we're probably probably most emotional for manny when he found out after starting to buy a home that Mike decided Dan the exactly and they filmed you realtor. You obviously this is a show. I think it's a viewer as well as is you is cast when you embarked on it. You knew that so much would be riding on how it resolved itself. So what was it like at the table. Read where you found out for the first time. How how all these shows like this end? There's a metaphorical death of these characters. That you play. You're not gonNA play him again. What was that feeling like? When you all found out how this was gonNA come to quote? Okay I was. I was Gonna say that the table read for me was probably the most emotional. Like hearing those words out loud for the first time and hearing it altogether was yeah it definitely hit the feelings snotty. It was at least naughty table very very wet at a long time because we couldn't get through it. It was perfect. It really was for all of us but I'll speak for myself. It was a perfect ending to our story. Mike's Story and whether or not this is how the universe works. I think it might and felt like this perfect goodbye. It was sad but uplifting uplifting and kind gentlemen sweet you know it's kind of an also too short. There's this beautiful thing you can do as a writer that they did on this show which is is like the show ended too soon you wanted. Maybe we did more of it. But that's just what you get. That's the amount of time you get a little too short. It's a lot like life did you. We were talking during the commercial. I hope this isn't weird for you guys in this I you guys all got to go to Europe to shoot. Shoot those because you thought it was green screen okay. They told us it was great. I should also note that we were backstage right before we came out and The six of you were standing in a circle. Sort of a cast hug Talking to each other which was a slightly route because I was the only other person did not quickly into this whole process. Did you feel that closest as a class because I assume this show would have been impossible to resonate with people the same way. If you didn't all get along. It was pretty quick wasn't it. It was oddly also like the the trajectory of our characters growing together helped us grow together as people because we I didn't mean I knew Ted but we didn't. I don't think anyone else knew each other. And the whole storyline is about these characters getting to know each other in creating bonds despite their differences princes and supporting each other and having true human connection so I certainly know that I was like learning that along the way and learning who my real good friends I also I think that for the four of us end it having Ted and Kristen Want to be a part of the group so much and not know it was a little bit no not meeting there was no You know hierarchy it was like we were an ensemble. We were a group from the beginning. You guys made that very clear that it was like a group of us that we felt that right. No I mean I feel like you know. There's there's no better seasoned In undeserving people of their status than than these two right here. And it's like Ted love you mcadoo trash but like it's It's it's like you're just invited in you know in those for for I think for the four of us. This is like the biggest thing in our careers at this point. And so it's like you need someone there to sort of like give you hugs and walk you through. And that's what these do we're GONNA come right back with more from the cast of the good place right after this. I WANNA clear here with the past of the good place and we're going to borrow it tradition action from our friend. Amy Poehler the way. This works is Someone's going to give a toast to someone else this group in this group and then the next person will give to someone else and ultimately we'll move around and the last person has to toast to the first person he goes. Who's going to be Chris? Please choose someone to toast to me your name. Well yeah well. "News about yet another new TV streaming service this one is called peacock from NBC Universal. Its debut in later later in the year. Two good news it's free. The bad news is if you don't like the ads you'll have to pay. The question is will you pay will. Oh you watch probably sure but will you pay. That's a question mark. Let me tell you more about it on. Today's episode talking Tech Peacock launches in April but only for comcast customers comcast is owned by NBC Universal. And then the general public will get it on July fifteenth free version reruns of of NBC. Primetime shows the day after they originally Air Plus News and Sports. That's all free four ninety nine a month and you get some original original programming like a remake of punky brewster and saved by the bell. Nine ninety nine gives you the reruns on the originals without ads. Now one of the he really interesting things is. There's a service called Hulu. Hulu Runs Network Primetime Fair from NBC ABC and Fox Now Disney which owns owns Fox is the majority owner of Hulu and only has the NBC programming for a limited period of time so clearly all that NBC stuff is going to go over over to peacock. One of the things I like about. It is if you're willing to pay. You can get to see the tonight show. And late night with Seth Meyers earlier and not have to stay up to twelve thirty in the morning to catch it. That's pretty cool and I think there's probably a lot of people who would like to do that whether they wanna see reruns of shows like the office. I don't know I mean. They watch it on Netflix now. But it's just another streaming service that you're gonNA have to take care of and deal with N.. Remember to unsubscribe if you don't want to pay for it anymore. We'll see again launches for comcast customers in April and then the rest of us in July.

She's a thirty year old comedian. She's also known as superwoman and. When when you think of YouTube celebrity, Colleen, maybe you're thinking about viral sensation your. And I'm not saying that there aren't successful YouTube. Celebrities. That's not what I'm saying. There are success people who have earned a lot of money and fame being on YouTube from from what I know she's been the kind of the main one that they've put a blueprint on when they talk about YouTube success. Yeah. Yeah. One of the earlier earlier personalities that took advantage of this. And I just like everything about her because she's just nothing about her is typical. Okay, absolutely nothing about it. And that is exactly why I think we celebrate that she's found herself in the place where she is at the time. She is here. I'm in her own announcement. She said, I can't even believe I'm writing this caption. This is so surreal. What is happening? I need to sit down. Okay. Breathe I'm thrilled. And crying to announce that your girl is getting her own NBC late show. And she this was a total dream come true. She was able to announce it on Kimmy Fallon's show. And then Seth Meyers came out. Documentary Now! Season 3 is a Must Watch
"I wanna recommend documentary now on IFC look for those who don't know says Myers along with Bill, Hader, and Fred arm. Ascend created the show which is really to make fun of the documentary style. Because if you're a documentary family me, you know, that there are a lot of tropes that happen in the genera documentaries. And so they just launched season three. Three. Seth Meyers wrote the first two part episode, which is called bat S word valley, which by the way is a take on wild country documentary that I loved and Greenland here on the show. It's fantastic Owen Wilson, Michael Keaton, Connie Chung as Connie Chung is in it. And then they just had an episode that John lenience Myers wrote which was about the about a nineteen seventy Broadway musical comedy. And it started tearing Callum, and it was so very good. So it's a fantastic third season.

I wasn't surprised by that. And I wasn't surprised that it was as great as it was. I feel like a room Hollywood people can be a little bit jaded impressed. And yet she had them on the Palmer hand. And I think that just speaks to the power of Oprah because not a lot of people do that. Is that a hard room to do comedy in in the end it wasn't? But it's very timid and walk out on stage and look out and have Oprah and Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks in the front row, right? Yeah. Because you know, exactly who they are..
