Unfolding in Green Bay and his future or lack thereof in green bait. Last week, I popped onto the Dan Patrick Show to talk about the Anna Roger situation. And Dan asked a question asking me to trace back what happened on draft day and the process leading up to ESPN releasing the story on our Rogers. Well, that actually was the first day that I was scheduled to play golf in. Ah, year, one full year and I don't play golf very often, but a few times year it's nice to go out in front was taking me out. And so I do. Dan Patrick, a 10:25 a.m. Eastern, go to play 18 holes with my friend and we were three holes in having a nice, enjoyable day. When I got a text from my boss, Seth Markman. That my name was trending on Twitter, which is never a good sign, And initially I was confused as to why my name could or would be trending, But I guess it came to my attention. As many critics have pointed out that they felt that What their take away on that interview was it was that I intentionally held the story for draft day, which I could tell you was unequivocally 100. Percent wrong. I did not go to Cleveland thinking, boy. I got this Aaron Rodgers story in my back pocket, and I'm gonna drop it on draft day. Baloney never happened. Number one number two. The complaint was that Didn't have sources because I said during that interview that there was an accumulation of information which there was over months. Oh, let's just drop this right now and not check into it. Number three. There were sources involved that day. I'm like what other people have said. The whole thing was so surprising. So disappointing that All this could come up and become a total non issue that became an issue over what Over a story. Crazy. Let me a little journalism lesson right here. Every story has its own rhythm and peace. Some stories. You get a text and you can just report it right away. Their stories take days or weeks to flush out some stories. Take days, even weeks or months, and you never get them and you never report them. The Aaron Rodgers story kept happening, but nobody really verified that. Hey, He has given.

"I agree with you. And i think that all of a sudden this notion that he's going to be back he's going to carry the workload especially when his season kinda ended with this hip injury that he had. I i just. I have a hard time buying into that. Because the cardinals haven't shown me that that's what they intend to do with the running back position so far with cliff. Kingsbury being there. I mean they maneuvered around david johnson. They wanted to have more than one person touching the ball. How all of a sudden this chased become guy and he's talented. And i like him matthew. If this works out the way that you are suggesting that it could then. His value is huge. I agree with you. But i just don't know that he is built to carry that workload and i would be surprised if they are entirely reliant on him what happens. I mean you gotta look at teams have to look around other teams event. Forget their own situation. They go you know is there. How many teams really get through the season with one running back doing the majority of the work. not many. And a lotta times. It's injury that's the culprit. So i'd be surprised if they did that. In the draft here is divided you but my question to you is. There's no question. I'm not sitting here saying. Oh there's no way the cardinals don't do anything and they absolutely will add some depth. There's no question right so the question is whether they add some deaths. Somebody takes a take a little bit of a load off here. My point is an malcolm brown. Obviously miami but did they add a guy like malcolm brown who can take a series or to help out a little bit. They add a guy like that or they draft travis at yet. You know somebody like that where you're just like okay. You know what i mean. So that's that's my only question. Here chase edmonds. If he doesn't have to get one hundred percent touches if chase edmond gets sixty five percent of the cardinals running back touches. That's pretty interesting to me. This guy who last year was fifth in the nfl fantasy points per touch minimum one hundred touches like when he touches the ball. Good thing happens and go back and read any of the stuff. I talked about last year. We talked about this. The podcast i was. I was a big re chase edmonds and i said this multiple times last year chase edmonds the best running back on the cardinals like i don't know why they keep keep forcing in kenyan drake because that's the ball because tastes edmund. Should be the starting guy in arizona and various. It's probably a little bit of coachspeak. But he's coming into. We have full competence. Jason can carry the load so if at the end of the draft in free agency and we enter next year with chase edmonds getting. Let's call it sixty five percent of the cardinals running back touches. And he's the starter. I think he's still a top fifteen fantasy running back. Well i think. I think matthew their baby you guys are both like if he was the guy i think's devan. Yeah would be more optimistic. But i think we're all sort of assuming that there they maybe it's defying i are are are believers that it's more likely than arizona makes a running back investment during the draft. Which was that conversation again. A month and see where all net out. Let's move to aaron jones though matthew because this is a back that some thought will hit the open market instead of a year when running backs did not cash in for the most part. Aaron jones really did for year. Forty eight million dollar believe in maximum value contract to stay with the green bay packers matthew. And if you've got a good thing going you might as well keep broaden it. yeah you know. I kept chanting over the last three years free. Aaron jones and apparently what. I should have been chanting his pay. Aaron jones because i would have worked out that would have you know like we thought. Hey he's finally chance be free and now he's not free. But here's there is there's one thing That is a bright spot here for for all of us that have been part for the last three years of the free. Aaron hashtag jones movement. And that's jamaal williams isn't there and so i think that means it's going to be aired jones in aj To split some time with aj dylan but my expectations. They won't use aj dylan on the passing game. Nearly as much as they used jamaal williams. There's four games over the last two years which aaron's jones's played and jamaal williams has four games. Aaron jones averaged over twenty one touches a game. One hundred twenty eight scrimmage yards game and twenty two point eight fantasy points per game. Now it's a small sample size in one of four games. Was that crazy. Forty nine point game. He had against the cowboys. I think it was four touchdowns until you're like okay. Well let's use everything and you're like yes. It does but another hand. He had forty nine point game here. Withdrawal leaves out like that's the kind of potential that somebody like jamaal williams has and so you know Thirsty kyle look this up. Last two years when aaron jones four or more passes in a game he averages twenty one. I'm sorry twenty. Three point on fantasy points per game and without jamaal williams there. My expectation is aaron. Jones will be used for the passing game. And i think were passes. A game is not out of the realm of possibility for him so it was interesting. Where in terms of where air jones could have landed. I actually think landing back in green bay with aaron rodgers and a system that knows him in will use him and without jamaal williams is actually a pretty good place for him. He makes the loveless in terms of his fantasy value. He still going to be an easy top. Ten pick drafts come on 'em no disagreement from me. He is certainly a star player. Now paid like one nothing. The most interesting player on this running back love list me as akers. We talked about in a couple of different shows earlier. This offseason obviously finished really strong with los angeles and seems prime to break out for that. Rams backfield it. Look we've seen. What happens when sean mcvay commits to running back now. Nothing cam akers. Is todd gurley. But obviously look. He's one of the best offensive binds and football. And you think about the final six games last year including the playoff games cam akers twenty three point eight touches game five red zone trips a game when they committed to cam akers like he was freaking awesome right. I mean listening. Knock me out of the world and super super bitter about that. Like he'd done nothing about that. We yeah we not. And then seth markman throws into lineup and boom. I lose after being the number one seed all year long in the league. I'm still not over. But here's the thing cam akers like look. Look the part to the test. He was very productive once. They gave him the gig. And i think adding matthew stafford will make that offense more efficient or red zone trips for game. I think they will score more. I think one of the best things that staffer does play action. Some sure sean. Mcvay will use a lot of that too with a strong running game in acres That'll open up. Thanks for the passing game as well not scared to run when they getting close again you think about all of his success even todd gurley his last year in. La when girly wasn't todd gurley capital letters. He still was fantasy relevant because when they got close they still gave it to early..

Aaron jones jamaal williams david johnson aaron jones arizona aj dylan todd gurley Jason last year sean mcvay twenty aaron rodgers forty nine point fifth next year four Mcvay seth markman twenty two point one hundred percent

"And then Whatever you know. Lamar jackson comes back from whatever was going on back in the locker room. And you know comes in and throws a touchdown and listen. That's what mark brown can do. You get him in space. He's got incredible speed and he can do it but in terms of consistency fantasy production. You know the thought the positive was. He's the next tyreek hill right. The problem is is that he's he's honestly become the next to sean jackson which is like when he hits like with a trace mcsorley all needs is one play against the steelers won seventy yard pass for a touchdown great. But he's not somebody that you feel like you know what he's going to get you a six eighty day. It's going to be very much much very big play dependent as is not the case though for his teammate mark andrews who had five catches on seventy eight yards twelve point eight fantasy points. Good to see him back. Obviously having recently spent some time on the covid nineteen. Let's let's get right to the browns. Another great game from baker mayfield last night. Best game of the season in terms of fantasy points. Thirty in total three total touchdowns one of them of course was up the rushing variety. Three hundred forty three passing yards against an excellent ravens defense. You know something matthew. I think this is much more of a real football story than a fantasy football story. You're not starting next week. Are you probably not at the giants. Giants defense playing really really well. You know i mean. I whatever the game against arizona i honestly i put blame on daniel jones and the offense. Danny jones should have been out there. Terrible decision by the giants. Coaching staff. Happy as a washington. Fan that they did that Giving the lead back in the nfc east to my washington professional football team. But that's it would be tough. I think what baker's elevation has done though is listen. You're already starting running backs you know. But i think you feel better about jarvis landry if you're in a deeper league feel better about rashard higgins and by the way if you're in a keeper league i baker mayfield in our dynasty league where i've been taking for tat trevor. Like i feel better about him. Like feels like okay now. He feels like he's gotten kevin savannah offense and now you think about next year gets so. Bj back you know another year of you. Know having austin hooper. there who didn't have last night you know they like bryant as well you know so that they suddenly have some pieces there for this passing offense but i agree with you. I think it's a unless you're in a to quarterback league a deep league. I would much prefer jalen hurts. Or you know i mean even mitchell trubisky like even some of these other guys that are out there. I think than baker mayfield but it is. It was impressive performance. He's now had multiple touchdown passes in three straight games. And you know. I mean three hundred. Forty three passing yards two touchdowns in a game and a rushing touchdown in a game in which the browns ran all over baltimore over the under the cream hunting now or no. You won't do it or now. Here's the thing i mean. We probably don't have time for this. Whatever whatever it's finally. I nearly had a miracle. I'm in the war room leak as you guys know and it is. Most importantly get is the league that i play in with field with stefania with our producer. Matt harrington with shefty with more with louis riddick with rex ryan with tedy bruschi like all the names of people that you watch on tv here and a lot of our our producers as well really smart nfl guys men and women and so. It's a highly competitive league at sixteen teams. We've talked about it all you know all year long. I was second last year. I finished second i lost. I lost a scottclark all biz at all underscore. Busy adam schefter of the war room league. This year i was first in points. I was ten and three. I basically led the league wire-to-wire. I had an amazing team. Tannahill aaron jones kareem hunt Tyrod kill decay metcalf. Alan robinson my flex hayden hearst by titan colts defense. One of the best defense is jason myers as kicker and so i played against the eighth seed. The eighth seed field. I should win. Had had michael gallup not scored a stupid touchdown last week against against the ravens played rex ryan and it would have been by seventy points. But because michael gallup scores that dumb baloney touchdown rex. Ryan ends up seventeen and i play the eighth seed and the eighth seed is is. Our is our friend. Seth markman and set of former champion. This league but seth has had an up and down year in the league. He's got a good team though. He has to great players. He has davante adams and helped. Travis kelsey so he's he's the best tight end as the best wide receiver his running backs where a work in progress. He spent a fourth round. Pick on cam akers. Who has been terrible all year. Long and bianca fourteen. He got twenty points from arizona defense. Who's been good. There's no defense has been good but you don't have any choice. They they the previous five weeks the arizona cardinals defensive scored twenty three points. But this week. They scored twenty daniel jones. The giants they play daniel jones and the giants and so right. Deebo samuel gets hurt on the first play and so brandon i- euch at sixteen targets field. But he he had seventeen fantasy points. I understand but i mean come on six targets. I is where i was in. This was last year. I led the league in points in you last year. Stuck into the playoffs and you beat me. In the first round i led the league in fantasy point so i know exactly what you're talking about right now. I know you do. But let's let's focus on me. This is about to be governor. Time for ramp was last year. Here's the about me good and use for. Do you follow the same pattern than i do. The team will be absolute garbage next year because my team has been brutal. This season so better days are ahead. Anyway the point is is that right allan round robin type. The point is is that because aaron jones isn't free and just had a brutal fantasy performance. Sure that's not just the lions defense matthew berry. I mean not trying to take away from. Yeah i'm pretty sure already sure. I run into last night so anyway going into last night i was down thirty two points to seth and who he was done and i had kareem hunt so i almost pulled off a monday night miracle but in some ways i sort of wish that he had done nothing it says. What are you going to do by thirty. I lost by three points. Unless there's some sort of crazy weird stat correction here and like i'm praying for but i don't think it's going to happen. Sure pinpointing i. I don't know. I'll take any of them. I'm trying to. I'm trying to think. Here's a question for you that i had that i was trying to wonder if kareem hunt caught that two point conversion bounce off his shoulder but they ended up converting. Is that a three point player or two point play just reception. That's what i thought. I was scoring right but yeah if i had started coal right over and hers. I would've won Well i mean other than that but by the way like everything else should warm show is is is now bad time for me to say that i won around a playoffs because of kareem hunt thrilled for you. Yes it is nice jobs. I want to know. Because if i shouldn't bring it up that i won my playoffs because a cream on but i just thought i'd know loosen does i'm in fifteen leagues. I was in the playoffs. And twelve of them. One of them my losses to find you by the way is to find. You beat me in this show league which yeah the celebrity a celebrity league that we're playing in. Yeah yes so defined you in the playoffs there. It's a deadly tabs right exactly. It's not a big deal. This is the league i care about. I'm just being honest. I'm letting you into my pain. I'm letting you in to my soul. That was crushed last night because the whole thing is i'm watching the game. I'm watching the game and and my wife is like. Oh maybe you can get there. Oh maybe and like no. You don't understand thirty five points. i love it. It's anything right. Seth marksman's texting me like you know middle finger emojis. He's he's trolling me. More it's texted me being like. Nah i think you can do this anyway. It was just a roller coaster a roller coaster of emotions field. Yates and it's very upsetting. Because i had the best team in this league. And i'm not gonna win and so people out there that are in my boat you feel me. I'm here for you. it happens. This is the life we've chosen. This is the game we play hashtag fantasy life. It is what it is. What are you going to do. I've got a question for you math..

"First Time shooters can go to drink a favor dot com. The hope is that it will be back there at some point. I think the NFL is pretty committed to that. And we'll be back because the plan was so good and the environment would have been so great In the city was was ready for it. You know you know there's an forever This is unique. They understand it But Yeah like Vegas would've been amazing and we'll be again that was ESPN. Seth Markman. Who was talking about? How talent is feeling a little left out that we weren't going to get the extravaganza in Las Vegas. We know the city of Las Vegas. And probably the Las Vegas raiders as well or feeling some of that and we can't wait till we can find out when we do get. Nfl draft back here in the city. So it'll happen at some point. We know. But his quickest everybody would like Ma- maybe maybe not. Maybe we're looking at the believe we had said. Twenty twenty two would be Probability but we still don't have anything new on that but what we do have for you. Here is a mock draft that we're going to get through with picks one through sixteen. We have a lot of names that I think. A lot of people are waiting at the top and so we already know the Bengals redskins. Lions are one two three. I think a lot of people are looking at Joe Borough Chase young and then the three is where it gets interesting for me. Because I we've heard that the lions are maybe looking out to seek out a trade maybe business. Where is like a Simmons goes may be? This were quarterback goes. I Know Adam. This is something on your Nfl MOCK draft. Where you have put on your third version of the chase. Young is actually going third that the redskins are jumping onto at number two. So for me I have gone job roads and then to chase young is they assume ends with a possible question. Mark on trade there for number three. Adam what have you done with your mock draft here on the Review Journal site and What why why do you have to go to your mentioned The third one the fourth one will be coming out later this week in two will no longer be in that to spot even though he should be. I mean I think part of my thinking there was what they should do. The redskins have like nine quarterbacks on the roster actually none that can probably play so. It's a difficult spot to be. But they have acquired tile Allen. I don't really look at him as the answer. I certainly would not look at Wayne. Haskins as the answer. There's also weird rumblings out there about Alex Smith. I think that there's a lot of question marks there for the quarterback and I just feel like you. If you've got a guy like to a WHO could be a generational talent and you feel good about his medicals. You should take up now. The problem is nobody can really get a look at them. The can't really be sure about medicals and I just feel like teams are going to be a little hesitant especially when you have the best player in the draft who has not joe but is chase. Yang a sitting at number two I. I do think they're going to end up taking him Especially with some of the stuff. That's coming out of there. Even though you have smokescreens I just think it's going to be really tough to Patricia. And then three becomes interesting because the best fit. There is the second best player in the draft. Jeff Ikuta but I. I think that they feel they could trade down and still get it so do. The chargers make a move to get the quarterback that they want does another team trying to jump up to. The dolphins gets scared that somebody trades into three or four into they try to move up from five using some of their draft capital to move into that spot. We don't know but if somebody moves up to three. I'd imagine it'll be for a quarterback and then the lions will do what they can to try to get Jessica And we'll see how that works out but there is a lot of questions I think beginning at number three all right Benny to add to that. I mean do you think there's a trade? That happens here Eddie. Think.

"Thought he was older than I thought he was older than that. So he's a real baby was a baby. Yeah he is in the movie. His character is the chancery character. The idol maker. I have talked about this movie for years and years and years. I don't know if anybody can even find this movie anymore. You seen at the. It's really really good and really liked it. So that's Fabian Forte. That was this was doing. What now That's a good question. I thought at one point. He toured with Bobby Rydell gene. And I know well we saw yes. We did Bobby Rydell and Frankie Avalon and Fabian. I thought had soared some sort of a reunion tour as recently as five six years ago. it doesn't say what he's doing. Okay I'm not sure touring anymore. But this was his first big hit reached number one the talks in nineteen nineteen nineteen fifty nine written by. I don't know this dude duck poems and mort Shuman Y- dot Com is apparently Fabian manager said how needed write me a song own and so the manager was a guy named Bob. Marcucci this is the story of Bob Marcucci and it than the actor who played him passed away sometime. Back I've forgotten his name. It's not Roy Scheider but it's something sort of like my Scheider in any case in any case Let me talk for while I. I've got to tell you the hotel story so I went to. I went to the Super Bowl I went to the Super Bowl because it was in south Florida I have friends in south Florida. I have some relatives in south Florida and and I saw them saw them took them to dinner one night and what I thought was a very bad ed restaurant but I took the most recommended to me was close to the hotel And I went because I knew that I could play some golf and I wanted to play golf because it's the middle of the winter and I just thought that would that would be refund. Do I had an invitation from the Great Jack Vardaman to play. Its seminal ended up playing not only would the Greg Jack Vardaman but with the Great Jimmy Dunn and when we were done John on the range on the putting green the Great Sam rees was there so all of the three and Michael knows this. Well Michael knows that. I Adore these three people which is why calm the grates and I saw them all. And it made me extremely happy. It made me happy the night before. We played seminal to go to the reef grill which is A fresh fish fish restaurant In Juno Beach where if you are wearing an actual shirt that you're overdressed. I mean the t shirt you can wear. And but it's the food is great and and Vitamin knows the owner. So well and he'd Sorolla time so he was able to get us a table for seven and we could walk in and as Michael knows does you don't walk in like you put you in another restaurant at the other side of the mall to Small Little Mall and you wait there for hours before you get into the Reef Brillon because Jack Vardaman we got in and had a wonderful and a place he might run into. PJ Tour player as readily as a CEO. I ran into Rob Rob Manfred and talked to him for a little little bit. You know the President the Commissioner Baseball. Yeah was yes. It's that it's that kind of place so I wanted to go. I wanted to play Indian Creek. I got to play Indian creek with Tom. Baltimore or WHO's a member. I was very very thrilled to that will be an I well. We'll von Yes. Mike did not play that that day or did eighty play that day. I remember Tom Baltimore Al.. I know Mike didn't play because his foot hurt. But we played seminole with Mike with Jimmy. Dan Would Jack Vardaman with Matt Kelleher and me. When around five and and played really the only rule at seminole is play fast? There's a sign that says if you're good play quickly if you're not good play more quickly the minute Mister Dunne will run you off the court well so so this was great. It was absolutely great and I played Emerald Dunes twice With socialite and I really had a good time and that was really why went and the rest of it working at the Super Bowl. I know what that is. I've done that a number of times. I also wanted to go to dinner with Levitan. I took laboratory Kelleher and Lebatardshow Valerie. Dinner so that very early in the week. Monday's that was really really nice to do all these things the rest of it. I'm familiar with I know how it works folks Miami beach was extraordinarily crowded. As you knew it would be And so it's hard to get to the places where we were actually filming the show but they weren't that far away and that is warrant that far away so the only question then becomes. Where am I gonNA stay? What is the hotel? Where am I going to stay? Well the hotel is called all the National Hotel it was built in nineteen thirty nine it it. It's logo has nineteen thirty nine so that makes it eighty years old at some point point My Wife said to me. I think I came to this hotel when I was a kid with my parents I said are you sure she said I think so. I don't know him said okay. And yet the two great hotels in Miami Beach of my youth and these are the hotels of the youth of a child child of Jewish parentage in New York City the hotels are the fountain blue in the Eden. Roc You went to the fountain blue the you made it. Okay Okay the Fountain Blue and the Eden Roc the executives of ESPN state at the Eden. Roc I asked to stay at the Rock and I was told there was no room. No you go go over there. Go to the national. I get to the national and I had heard I hadn't heard great things about the Nash. I'd heard what Dan Le Batard says. You're not going to like it. You're just you. You're not going to like it. Was this after. You forced him to take pictures of the lobby where he volunteered. He said I'm walk away. I will take pictures for you. I'll go into a room and he did all these things. I still have them on my phone and he said I just he said it's okay but I don't think you're going to like it so I did what I do. which is I endeavoured to get out before I even got there at all? I endeavored to get out of the hotel and I got a list of a whole bunch of hotels and I was told in no uncertain terms. No you can't stay at any of those hotels because super bowl week they are. You know they're four times what they normally are. This is of course. This is the same story story as yes. You can have a car service. But it's two thousand eight hundred so I get I get to the hotel and and I check into the hotel and they say we have a room with an ocean view now laboratory told me the rooms with the ocean views. They don't have any balconies Kinney's Salt Lake a cruise ship. They don't have anything like that. You just get to look at the ocean so they send me. They give me a room on the third floor and it has an ocean view. I I go into the room. The room has two beds. There is if you want to turn around in the bathroom you need to lose about fifteen thousand walk straight in you can walk straight out which in turn around in the bathroom and there's no place on the floor for me to do anything from my back I cannot. There's not enough room with two beds. There's not enough room to get on the ground. I can't get on the ground and I don't really have an ocean view because because it's blocked by another wing of the hotel it's blocked. I have a theoretical ocean view. That's the county. I don't have a practical. Should you so go go downstairs. Say you know Gee I don't have an ocean view. Could you change my room. Nee move me from the third floor two I think the ninth floor. It's the exact same room on the ninth floor. I have ocean view but I can't get on the ground. That's got two beds. I don't need to bed some one personal need to bet So I make a call to someone at ESPN. All it's you know can i. Is there any chance I can get something else and they say stay right there. Don't worry about a thing within. I Dunno five minutes people. Come to my room. Start loading my stuff. They're gonNA move me. They're gonNA move me. They moved me one door left. One door left now. This has now this has one. It's small again. It has an ocean in view. It has One dead and I can get down on the ground at Camp Roll around. That can't really. I can just lay down as if if I'm in a coffin. It's you know I say to myself. You know what this is the way it's going to be. This is the way it's going to be so don't worry about it I stay. Hey there one night and then I tried to jump out the window cranks A guy who works for ESPN named Seth Markman who who was in charge of their football He says you know. I think I can get you into the Cabana Wing. Now that is the wing that the first room was was was blocked by and these things looked pretty nice. Mean they have Little terraces you can't see the ocean. They face the pool. It's the oddest pool. Oh it's like a hundred and twenty feet long and ten feet wide and it's completely shaded by big palm trees. I didn't NC. I saw one person there a week. I saw one person in the pool. One person and there was another pool. 'cause the need to understand that when you walk out the back you're you're you're on the beach. I mean that that's what you're selling in Miami beach access to the beach so a lot of I'd never went out there. But what was the point in that but you know others others did that but so anyway so says I think I can get you in the Po- Oh I forgot one thing There was a suite in the hotel and I was told the sweet you you can have the sweet But it's an extra thousand dollars a day. Would you like to pay that. And I said No. I'm GonNA pass on that. No no thank you. But Seth Markman got me into the Cabana area for the exact same price. You know that that my room was and it was larger and nicer. It was very nice I did find out that a lot of people who were allegedly talent. Were already in there but I got there but I got there through the wonder of Seth Markman the only thing wrong and I stayed there and was fine. It was fine so I that's my fourth room in less than twenty four hours and I'm grateful to to to Seth To get this the only thing wrong with the room and I've never seen this before all the floors were tile. ooh there was was no carpet on the floor so now while I can get down on the floor. It's tile. It's so hard you know it's really so oh and this was great. They brought up though the director of PR brought up a yoga mat out greatest. So I was able to get on a mat and do all these. These things and I was wonderfully happy for all of all of that but I was dead. You know at the beginning I was bad and then I got you know I got this and I was very grateful and I love the hotel itself. The staff on the hotel tremendous Indus. They were great the bartenders the servers. The if you needed something I had a guy. Walk me across the street to a restaurant to get me into to the restaurant. One of the Bellman. That's great and by the way the restaurants pretty good Italian restaurant called doce was pretty good and he. He walked across the street to get me me. A you know a room at the restaurant they were. I have no complaints whatsoever except for the fact that when I got there I just I I felt like I was in a cage. Okay practical question because when I get year old hotel and and and so I asked about this. I asked about how smaller was and they said it's an art deco hotel to keep. Apparently I was told this by workers at the hotel to keep the designation as an Art Deco Hotel which is important portent in Miami beach while you can improve the outsides. You cannot change the room totally believe that you cannot build the rooms out in other words two rooms into one really think just the opposite. I would think you'd have to preserve the outset could reconfigure the inside. That's exactly what I thought and yet I was told the opposite which make no sense to me. And that's an art deco mean some. It means something my but that has something to do with the pool to Michael. Now we're looking at pictures of it. That Art Deco Looking Young But it's also there's no sun like they've got you know giant ferns all around and I mean I. I'm what I'm saying is I enjoyed it thoroughly. I took me took. God took a couple of changes to get there but I the staff was great. They would disgrace no matter what you asked for. They endeavored to do it. Like for example. The the first morning I was there I get up early first morning. I was here. There was no coffee. There's no coffee lobby and they said well we don't open until seven. Oh the thirty. We don't open until seven and I look and I go. I'm like what my hat. And so they say. Well what would you like and they got it and got it every every morning by the third morning here he adds a third morning. Could little things changed third or fourth morning. Two things changed exit. One is they got up. You know they were ready early for anybody who wanted something early..

"I'm having dinner without them and that, that to me is what Memorial Day means will allow me to thank you, and Chris Mortensen, and every other person, I know and a real person I don't know who has served for our country and given up their time and made sacrifices for their family as you did as more did as so many others have done, and we all all you a tremendous debt of gratitude. So I would ask you sell so then how do you go from doing what you did drive in that ship, as well as you did to driving those live shots, as well as you have for twenty four years freeze over twenty four years? Right. Like we are closing in on twenty five years free, his nobody's done it longer. And at a higher level than you. Well, you know. Longevity in his businesses tough, and, you know what I tell aspiring broadcasters or journalists, is you gotta have proper prior preparation to prevent poor performance is something I learned in the navy. It's the six Ps, proper prior preparation prevents poor performance, and I still rehearse and I still make sure that I know exactly what I'm talking about at all times, and I still try to bring it. I try to bring, you know that whole Joe DiMaggio thing you know, no matter what you're doing in your craft try to do it to the best of your ability with that with that extra pep in your step at all times. Because you never know if the person watching is watching for the first time you ever imagine leaving the navy that you would work the way you have for one company doing what you have for this long period of time. I've been super lucky the answer to that is definitely no super lucky. I've had great people in my life at ESPN Jim Cohen who hired me Seth Markman, who is the godfather of all things NFL at ESPN has been such a promoter of my career when I wrote Phillies special, he was the first person that ESPN that I think meek knowledge moments. Stephanie, Julie norby Williamson. I mean, the list goes on and on and on, of people that I've had close to me, who have been make people came out and newspapers like Chuck, solid, pseudo. You know, guys people who understood how to do the job at understood that I had something to contribute. And I always like to say, again, to my students, sometimes ESPN you get to play quarterback. Like I do on Sunday mornings at Lincoln financial field. But when I go to the Super Bowl, I'm the right guard. And that's the key to understanding the culture at ESPN. Sometimes you get to play quarterback, but you'd be better be ready to play special teams when they ask you where do you teach students sell. You a class that you teach I teach all over the country out of mental I taught as an adjunct at Saint Jones for six years, I take teach young broadcasters and something called the scholastic broadcast camp every summer that it's done. It's based at affiliate, but it's based, it has camps all over the country. And then I'm asked to to go and teach classes at different universities and colleges all the time. And whenever I can I try to talk to them because it's tough now to get a job. And it's really hard to keep them, you know, twenty five years at Disney, you know what they give you for that cell, which is the statue for twenty five. I checked it out before I came on tinker. Bell is twenty five years. You tinker bell. L statue coming and I believe, if my fact checking is accurate that you get a similar statue at twenty. Do you have a simple statute from twenty I have Mustafa said, twenty I believe, yes, I have still I gave it to my granddaughter Kira? I wanted her to have it. She loves The Lion King. And she can't believe that I have that statue. Simba mustafa. That's a lot of styling of a single statue from Disney yet. Don't worry you're gonna own the company. I don't ever single stats show in your role as news gatherer Sunday sideline reporter who is the best interview that you've ever done. You know..

"Hundred fifty four passing yards six touchdowns plus fifty three rushing I wanna say like five of those touchdowns came in the first half. So just one person me, but if a car Rudolph, so let me explain the reason why I made the case for off before we get to the others and also received votes when I think about a player that seemingly came out of nowhere. Like, I wouldn't vote for someone that wasn't being you. Allies in lineups at all not a single person. Playing in the championship was like. Yep. Can't wait to insert Blake jar win in week seventeen. Howard up as a player that you had stood by throughout the season. Not because he had been good. But because no tight ends are good. There's literally like three good tight ends. So without a reasonable option to replace Colorado with you probably just tried to figure it out at other business you set out. Hopefully, my running backs are good enough to win this week. He went eleven straight games without a touchdown. He had five catches for thirty yards over the two weeks prior to this game. And on that game. He came out with thirty three point two fantasy points of close. Of course, the hail Mary at the end of the first half of monster monster game, like I would not be surprised if covered off with started in like, I don't know like a reasonable amount of leagues that were still playing in week seventeen wouldn't stunned me. Whereas I think some of the other guys in this list, Nomo planum, hence, my reasoning. Well, we all play in the war room league writer at at ESPN and the the champion of the league. Seth Markman our fearless leader who oversees all the NFL coverage for ESPN who plays league won the league this year. And he did it in part because of Derrick Henry who was my vote. So I really looked at the the description here the best performance that seemingly came out of nowhere. That's the first sentence of the description here, and you think about Derrick Henry who has certainly rostered and tunnel leagues. And in fact, he was started the reason I bring up Seth is because Derrick Henry is one of the reasons he won the championship. He started him in this week fourteen. We certainly heard from a number of people on Twitter that lost because they were facing Derrick Henry or manage to survive in advance because of Derrick Henry you think about Jacksonville entering week fourteen second he was running back points allowed six running back rushing yards allowed seven fewest running back yards per game. So it was a very good run defense for Jacksonville. And then Derrick Henry if you think back to that week three game when the titans and the Jaguars played the first time of the season. Derrick Henry got. More carries in week three at Jacksonville eighteen than he did in this game. He managed a sixty seven yards. So he'd already failed basically against Jacksonville. They were red hot Dion Lewis had been been more of the primary guy. However he had been scoring touchdowns coming into that game. And so people I think reluctantly started him hoping he would fall into the into the end zone. Seventeen carries two hundred thirty eight yards. Four touchdowns. Forty seven point eight fantasy points came out of nowhere to me. He's the winner. You got the vote as well. Yeah. Pretty much the same stats that. I was looking at. And it was the, you know, if you follow this podcast for a while we and we're talking about this before show. You've heard us use the term fantasies on being the way. This is a player. We are trying to side if you really qualified as that because he wasn't really good to start the season and then disappeared, but I think the expectation was Derrick Henry was gonna have so much more opportunity with DeMarco Murray being gone, you thought he was going to be a solid performer. It didn't happen you probably gave up on him. And then these these few weeks at the end of the season came out of nowhere. Congratulations. Derrick Henry who wins award one warned to goes to the show. That is not what we practiced at all..

"In to the Friday edition of the fantasy focus football podcast. What I should have said is Aloha to the Friday dish. Because this is a low ha Friday, let you do you do you in shape and have some sort of not ical plans this weekend. Now, we're going to we're going to her holiday party tonight. We started off with not I was a little nervous. Oh, sure. Fair fair. But now that we're live on Twitter. I have to clean it a lot. So actually the backstory is my dad for those. I think many of the people in this podcast audience know, my dad's from Hawaii and one of the great harbor in Hawaii. I don't. You started school sorta high school at punahou. Which is where Barack Obama went as well finished high school in DC with the boarding school. At that point. He became a stateside, man. He's now lived in Boston for the entirety of his his adult life after go into Haverford college in Philadelphia, but grew up in Hawaii until has deep roots, and certainly like born there you have a special bond with with people his favorite football players. Marcus mariota like his favorite athletes. Have always been players at hail from Hawaii and raise them, nothing, but Donohoe music. Yes, lele. Of course, got it. Right. Understood. Yep. Say you actually knew that rain Spooner is every year. My dad like growing up every year. My my dad for Christmas would always get me rain, Spooner Hawaiian shirt. So it's Christmas season at his time of the year to buy it. And so rain Spooner twenty eighteen addition ear so they are so low how Friday all the way through shout out to pop up. Bill Gates, so yeah, just a just a simple humble man who loves us. Aloha friday. So, you know. Well, show simple. Humble, man. You dare. Henry shadow tall. You guys that managed to start Derrick Henry or all the first place teams that played the the crappy team that just snuck into the playoffs like six and seven and got in like on some sort of like tiebreaker and his all beat up and just had to throw in Derrick Henry because they had no one else in your wake up this morning going like I crushed all season long. And then this like what what what that happened in the league? It's the happen to me. But yeah, I've I've a buddy that that happened to that has the first place team crushed all year long, and is gonna lose. I can't tell you. How many people tweeted the meat last night? And they're like Matthew must be playing again tonight. That's the only explanation for four touchdowns I managed to avoid Derrick Henry, thankfully, and all my playoff. But you know, who did not have that. Yeah. Yeah. You know, who no in all seriousness? You know, who did not avoid scottclark about our friends. Scottclark at all biz. So do we have to redefine what it means to get scottclark? Like, I think God's got Clark. Our our our boss here Seth Markman at Tunas weasel on the Twitter. Started Henry of the league of the war room league him against scottclark in the playoffs. Like the next time set comes down for performance review. And you'd be like field here all the things you need to do better. Just let me set your lineup this day. He apparently is the goat when it comes to fantasy football gave me a lot of games in total. Of course that really quickly just because I want to say this. We did hear back yesterday about ZipRecruiter smarter span the week, we left that open. I just want to solve that right now Andrew ball. That was our former marine that was the we put him up for the week if he wanted it. He said he would take a man's league entry. Instead, it's hip recruiter smarts fan of the week so Joshua. Buck will be this week's ZipRecruiter. Smartest fan of the week. And Andrew Baalbek will be in the man's league. In twenty thousand nineteen okay? Cliff notes version Matthew is we had two awesome entries one which Larry and funny and one which was about how someone would take you to war with him because you would be a great. Outlet for those that are in war. Basically every platoon has a guy that brings intentional and unintentional comedy. And it was like eraser comedies intentional and fairness..

"Mean, it's it's kind of like. You're sitting there today. Conversation. Twice the greatest team supposes series. I I feel so. The thing that I didn't realize the kind of education. I was getting from Bill when I was getting. Kind of like. Demanding and so hard on you and keeps his thumb so much trying to survive sometimes when you're playing it. It survived the mental grind physical grind. He puts through. You don't realize until when the game starts and you're playing the game in real time. That's exactly what's going to happen. He didn't have permission shock, but they're gonna do you said if I got eighteen yards in my drop and cover to I would give everything in brick the way I need to when I get that. Then I it's funny how this works. He was a head of his time. He's ahead of the game. Now. Wherever you give him as long as his competence at the critical position. He's going to win more than any other coach if they were given the same group of people he's just ahead of his time. He just does somebody has to be the best. That's why there's a war cold the best word called the best friend. Yeah. He is. Phone witnesses to it right now. Which is just enjoy it. Yeah. Guys that good Louis real quick because we're short on time. But I got quick question on that on that front. Let's say the patriots win the AFC's which they should. But they get bounced in the first round and some of the rawness kind of even becomes more raw between the coach and the quarterback any chance at all that you would see Tom Brady playing for another organization next year or year, or so from now, I hardly doubt it only because the ownership issue. It's not even even Bill. I would I would think based upon how this craft has talked about Tom talks about Mr. Kraft's. Yeah. I think we'll never play for another team. Okay. I think in the end, and I can't speak to this personally. But I think in the end the owner loved that quarterback so much that nobody nobody would come before at quarterback. Okay. Good. That's two bucks in the swear jar, by the way. Last. I'm sorry. I apologize people. Tell Seth Markman. You got it out of your system, and it won't happen on television. I will I will. Thanks. That's why I love him. I mean, he's passionate. He's informed and he's nuance. There's so much to like about our heads with Louis Riddick who you can catch.

"Titans chargers. Texans Jaguars Cowboys, Redskins Bengals chiefs. These are the games that two months from now we're gonna be talking about who won this game as tiebreaking scenarios. Well, so as you start to project and we're now in the middle of the season years, we started project towards the playoffs. These are games that when you're talking about wild card for the divisional. You're talking about the visual races who the team that wins game. They're going to have a big leg up as as we get towards the high unusual how that happens. There are some weeks in the NFL where some of the matchup lack some sizzle, right? And then you get a weekend like this one in week seven, where there is a ton of sizzle. There's a ton of storylines a ton of games to talk about, and that doesn't even those five that I mentioned that doesn't even include some of the AFC NFC matchups bears patriots, saints ravens that that are really good games. You bring up the saints ravens. So we get a top offense versus a top defense and the saints offense has been tremendous and the ravens defense has been commended, what do you make of this match? It really has and all the talk about how great the chiefs and the Rams offense they have, they, I'm not downplaying that at all, but the saints lead the NFL in scoring offense right now. And this will be the eighth time in the last fifteen seasons. We've got top scoring offense against top scoring defense week, five or later we actually saw it. Just a few weeks ago at the Jaguars and the chiefs. Now the offense has won six of the previous seven games. So as you're looking ahead to Saint ravens, the offense, at least historically in these examples has had the advantage. Obviously, we saw the chiefs beat the Jaguars through two fourteen that defense ad was number one score divas at the time. Obviously, we've seen since then, Jacksonville defense certainly struggling over the last few games, but the ravens with their performance against the titans of week. Six now have a whole different animal deal with drew Brees and it's going to be an historic day for drew. 'cause I could agree that he's gonna throw that one past one touchdown for five hundred. It could be historic in another way. Interesting. Note that that I've been talking about with some of the the crew on Sunday countdown. The ravens are the only one of the thirty two current NFL franchises that drew Brees has never beaten in his career so he could beat the rabies and throw five touchdown pass all in the my favorite game in week seven. I think it's ravens couldn't agree more. You know, it's funny. Every Sunday in the war room, Seth Markman. Who is the NFL coordinating producer or now vice president, right? Yes, absolute. We look at the games the matchups 'cause he assigns the reporter. He always sends it over to me. What do you think of these games? And when he showed me the schedule for this week, the first game that I looked at was the ravens Sanchez said that to me is the best game of the week. And even though I know we're gonna have reporters at Cowboys and Redskins and Bengals chiefs in answers eagles and all these other matchups the Rams or the last unbeaten team at six? No. What does this mean historically?.
