"An excellent speakers magazine is everything. The brand is everything. I am here in detroit. Michigan as a part of sean fares. The leadership experience tore and in there practicing and getting ready. He is basically teaching new emerge during emerging an aspiring speakers. Really how to get ready for the stages that they're going to be taking and so he's given them that real live firsthand experience in doing that knowing what it feels like to be called the front of the room with hundreds of people watching virtually and in person and giving them that necessary experience because all of us know we've gotta have experienced and exposure be helping them to do both and so i've kinda snuck in a little britain. Listen to some of the little presentations them practicing and getting ready. And everybody's nervous and excited and it just energize me because of course. That's the work that i do. As a master speaker development coaches. I helped to develop primarily women's speakers helping them to develop the framework around what their keynote speech is helping them to develop and craft their story And then also to have a really powerful stage presence so just to be in this space to support the ladies and gentlemen is fano optional. Put down. I'm trying to do this while you are speaking. And i'm live like so. I put sherline powers dot com sdn speakers magazine dot net and then hashtag speaker com. Now there's nudity topic which we've come back to a few times on this podcast. That actually made it to primetime news this weekend when g seven finance ministers agreed on a deal to charge global minimum tax on the profits of big companies. So i think it's sunny fan. We get the low down on this from bloomberg's fronts economy reporter william horibin. Who's been dutifully following this story from the beginning. Will we have. We have other things to talk about today. But let me ask you about the the headlines that we saw the weekend fifteen percent tax on on the these big global companies. Does that mean that companies. Like google out going to be able to do all these fancy avoidance operations anymore and end up paying new tax. Anyway i just the short answer is is yes not going then. They're not going to do those things anymore. But what was really significant about what happened to the g. Seven was in some ways more political than technical. There is some detail in in the final communicated. They've put down on paper But what actually happened is that they've resolved major divide between europe and the us on who gets tax the multinationals how sharing out the spoils of globalization if you like And if you remember that trump was used to say his stunts was america. America taxes companies. Not anyone else. And europe serreze was like how on a second these huge. They have a huge operations in our country rely on infrastructure people but they're not paying any tax and we want a slice of that pie so comes at the g seven this weekend. Is that everyone sort of recognizes. Okay these multinationals. They need to pay more in the places where more of the tax that they do already pay in the places where they're not doing business so the home countries have safe google. Us need to share out some of the rights to tax. The profits of google is worth pausing for a second there because what the essentially agreed to let other governments tax back companies instead of them. Think conceptually even even material. This may not be huge but conceptually. That's a that's a huge breakthrough and for the purposes. These years long negotiations that have been having the ocd is also key people at the oecd. Always said we all these erkan lots of the nitty gritty of how to rewrite tax legislation around the world. But what really really has blocked us. Is this agreement on this. Willingness to share out rights to tax companies. I'm one stats resolve. They've always said the rest will just flow from that on the face of it seems surprising that the us would be willing to give up that right. They produce this big big successful global companies. Surely you want if you're the. Us you wanna keep as many of those tax.

"If you don't exercise intentional care for yourself you will be absolutely no good to anyone else on this show jamie and i are interested in the details of self care both and tangibly. What exactly can you do on a regular basis to build your own emotional bank account so that you have plenty leftover to give to others with that on with the show Jaime lerner how fun to have you once again on the next chapter with charlie. Welcome to be here. Thank you for inviting me again again. You know jamie the last time we did a podcast together. It was show number sixty and today we are recording. Show number one. Eighty three now was just over three years ago in january two thousand eighteen. How my goodness it's great to be back. Well it's great to have you back. I had such a fun time last time. And so i'm i'm looking forward to it. I've got. I have to tell you. And i and i want everybody to know that three years ago jamie. You gave me some personal advice. I don't know if he gave it to me personally. Or if it was done on the on over on the air but you told me we were talking about my difficult childhood and you told me to quit looking through the eyes of a child and look at my childhood through the eyes of an adult and you know that sticks with me today. And anytime i i think about that i think through the eyes of an adult and i think about that situation entirely differently because of you for folklore. Nice sometimes to have a different perspective. Oh well yeah and it's nice. Sometimes they have somebody that can offer you that perspective so before we immerse ourselves in our topic. Today as i was reading a bit. I would love to hear you speak on a couple of things that you that you wrote on your website and i'd like to know what you mean by two things one. You are a pleasure junkie. I love that. And secondly you're and what you're calling your third life. You're too young for a third life. So i'm very curious would those are all about. I spent a lot of time doing things that give me pleasure. Bad is in many ways. I think that that's really looked down upon in society that if we are to indulge ourselves and do things that please However i gravitate towards things that really connect me and bring me a lot of joy and my life is about that connection with my fault also pleasure and then of course to all and it's interesting because i think that wearing. We nurture and nourish herself in the connection that were having and then recreating with ourselves that we become so filled up that we just fell over into an onto everyone around us in a really lovely way bowl. I like to think of myself as the living breathing. Example off all that is possible when we are really Other no relaxing into healthcare finding pleasure and Sharing ourselves in a way. That's bob utah. I so agree with you. And i'm i'm sort of into pleasure. I read so much of the stoic. Mark serreze in seneca the younger but i i noticed seneca coding epa occurs. And so i read epa kuras. And you know. Unfortunately his epa corey and philosophy has been bastardized into some kind of drinking. And what do you call those things so sexual thing or jeez yes. What do you call those things shows shows. You know where i live. But that is not that has a representative occurs at all epa curse was in sort of sat cloth but he was all about life is to be enjoyed. Life is is a pleasurable experience. I really resonate with that. I think you're right that when you live a pleasurable life you'll live an attractive life. I like that the way you put that so talk about attractive lives what the heck is a third life while. I'm probably on my life by now. But i had my Children very young. I had my profession very young. I have grandchildren no way. Oh yes i have. Four grandchildren four beautiful grandchildren. And the most wonderful thing that i was there and assisted in each and every one of the birth which was amazing. Like a separate flights in itself. But i think that we are in reinventing ourselves over and over and over again and especially when i think that we have the ability to just continue to evolve and fifth reinvent herself though i think i will probably have nine live by the time on dong which are wonderful certainly identify but you know what really rouses my curiosity and that is because i female leadership female wisdom is very important to me that the divine feminine is a very important aspect and so i'm just curious. Why do you think that women would have maybe more opportunity or more likelihood to reinvent themselves. 'cause i think we hassle back why i think that women The tape on so many different roles and we wear so many different hats that becomes a part of who we are. I think fat especially now. Women have much greater opportunity to do just that the continue to reinvent themselves but a lot of it is because they need to. I'm going off of chart here. What is reinventing yourself. Look like because. I wrote a book twenty five years ago. That was ahead of its time. It was called Getting the right things right personal strategies for reinventing the life you want and that was long before anything was written on reinventing so i have my ideas about reinvention. But i'm i'm curious. What are yours all what's happening now. You know women or and probably men to are out of the workplace and in their homes and there are teachers needing to become teachers and literally for children in learning every day with remote learning. I mean we. Women are masters at adapting to whatever is needed..

"Watch anything black and white. I just can't do it at a personal thing. Different strokes different folks but it is really like the way the us a black-and-white going into the color like a pass in the modern day like mirroring. The poses in the flashback to the modern day info color. That's really cool. Like i really love the way they do this. Because there's a lot of like at the end of the flashback. The comic is reaching out to his wife and then the next panel is showing the joker reaching his hand out to a laughing clown machine granted. It does something dumb. You put a penny in. I know not all this year But the thing that i got the thing creeped me out in this panel when you see her smile because he tells her a joke which i'm going to read the joke where he says. I just want money to get set up in a decent neighborhood. Derek girls on the street who earn that in a week and without having to tell a single joke and then she starts laughing but her face just that laughed just is creepy to me. Oh no it is and the line honey. Don't worry not not about any of it. I still love you. You know job or no job. You're good in the sack and it just. It's an odd any know how to make me laugh. It's just a very odd little scene. But also one thing that i should mention. The joker narrating the story to us. So it's one of those questions like miniature where Can you trust narrator. Who's telling you the story. Oh god no not this one. The joker is definitely the textbook definition of an unreliable narrator. Who yeah. And i always took it as also like by her saying that to me. It feels very much like he's putting novels words in because women will say that but somebody is taking place in this timeframe. I feel like wouldn't have said that you don't get very men are always going to be more concerned about all. I'm good in bed. Even though i'm an asshole and beat my wife but i'm good and bad luck. Same manley toxic idea. That's how i that's how i took it the narrator your mind you exactly like this. Seems the jokers origin story like catered to his personal feelings and ideals and no he is in control of the narrative in the black and white here. We don't know exactly what's happening all knows what's being told to us in amick and you're right. It absolutely does seem like this is jokers words jokers tone and intonations in this story like he's trying to tell us what happened and wants us to believe and but it does seem a bit off and then jumped back. You're talking with the client on your back at the carnival and you have this weird guy who's trying to sell them the carnival and he gets a little rock like oil writing thing to show that it's still works for something. And then when he shakes his hand. He's like you need to worry. I'm not going to pay you a cent. We already persuaded your partner decide and then you see a couple panels as he walks away and you see that he drugged the guy. Some kind of chemical and the guy looks like the joke. Yep just give them the good old dose of joker toxin. It is a. It's a cre- pan over where they drew his face with a big smile. He's bleeding out of his mouth and everything just white new. Just it is creepy. Yup and it's great and he shows up later in the book the book just sitting there they never he never left him there and the nice thing is like i don't know which version you read. I read the one where. Brian oland to the coloring. The reds version are the authors The extra story at the end it will talk about and you can see that. As time progresses starts to look a little worse like you so why be can tell starting to get a little roddy. Oh i didn't look at that why we're talking. That's the color color changes subtly like to show. Yeah he's he's definitely dead. Man just left him out there to start going the way that about it would go. It is another story jumped back to batman because he has a choker card in the backing. Put the joker card down next to a portrait. Which to me is kind of odd. Because it has batman bat mite dick grayson robin back girl in her ridge original costume fat dog and then bat woman but not the woman that is in the comics later thrill i note silver age golden age. But just weird to me. I thought it was fun in a nice way to kind of honor. The history of what's come then you pull back after he puts a car down any see that okay. There's big taran serreze. There's two faces big old coin and he's at the computer and just the screen is filled with joker in the nation's science jokes throughout the years which is cool yet. I mean this story is really weirdly meta like it. Acknowledges that joker has had many different looks throughout the years of different artists have done them as personality changes he gets more manic and they've they kind kinda acknowledged all of that. Yeah interest in the little in the background and then department. Alfred brings his tea or his refreshments. And he's like an even says. How can people hate hate. How can people hate so much without knowing each other because they don't know anything about the joker gets it's also interesting center does it. No you know that any either. And i think it's funny that they show the coin there because when you stop and think about it joker really kinda are two sides of the same coin hundred like i feel like. That's the story does immensely. It shows how similar the two are. I do like it. And then when it cuts back to gordon cutting out newspaper clippings this part you know. I should say spoilers for killing joke. Nineteen eighty eight and we're going to get a little talking about sexual abuse and things. I'm assuming we're may go there so this can give a quick warning out that i forgot to mention at the top of this episode so because we might go there just in case it gets. It's this is really this. This is a tough scene. Where he's cutting out the clippings he's talking with barbara. She's you know librarian. I guess they re. They mentioned that and she the door. The doorbell rings so she goes to the door and when the clip an issue going door shortly clipping cut putting the viner and it has the bat. It's a scene from batman one when they first ran into each other as as joker there and i thought that was cool. Got what what would they. How many years ago was that like because again. They're not to mention how long it's been. But i thought that was cool. But when he shows up at the door he pulls out of his that are magnum revolver a revolver of some kind of not a guy. I'm not either but he and again his costume. He's wearing a hawaiian shirt with a camera around his neck. Just like they were they were. They draw her face and she sees joker. You can see the tear in the drawing before he shoots her right in like what the torso area support teluk area. Okay you're right more pelvic. Yeah like low on the spine shot. Basically and it's just four panels her getting shot falling back into the coffee table crashing through the table leading out on the floor grimacing in pain. It's fucking it's harder read. There's just so much that you see happen here. And an union. Gordon does he rushes to his daughter not to try to deal with. You know the people in the room like you need to deal with before but again the fatherhood kicks in in. That is also that is also powerful on jokers line. Please don't worry. It's a psychological complaints common amongst ex librarians. You see she thinks she's a coffee table edition like this fucked up keeps talking about about how no the spine appears speed janisch hole in the jack in any has the guy the two other henchmen with them to beat should have gordon while he just drinking liquor could just very calm enjoying himself and then the goons take gorden and bringing somewhere. They know where to take them. We don't all we know is that he's going somewhere and he is going to be topping. The bill so jokers on the plan for gordon and.

Alfred Gordon two hawaiian Brian oland two faces two sides first two other henchmen four panels one thing a batman years single joke barbara gordon Nineteen eighty eight a week one of those questions
