And unfortunately now we get a crash to add to the mass, it's in London four or five southbound four Redondo beach boulevard, taken the car pool lane. Traffic just crawling now starting before the one oh five. So watch out for delays there. Opting for the one oh five freeway eastbound got a problem in Hawthorne Crenshaw crash cleared to the center divider. That's got you crawling off of the four zero five. "It turns out that the Eric Garcetti has opened another one of his homeless shelters. We were just talking to Mark Rybeck out in Venice where they're trying to block one from going up there. And he mentioned the one that was beaten down in Koreatown up in the valley in Sherman oaks they've had to work on a new idea. But that probably wasn't a lot of opposition in wonderful Hollywood. I'm talking right between sunset and Hollywood boulevards. They've opened a three million dollar homeless encampment called the Schrader shelter three million dollars seventy two people. I mean, they're applauding themselves going to get seventy two vagrants off the sidewalks. If you've been there at all in the last couple of years, it is ten city. It's not like skid row, but it's amazing some side streets have tents plumped up everywhere along the sidewalk. So they put this one I'll list it's second only to skid row. Thirteen hundred people live on the streets of Hollywood, seventy two of them are right side may. Not during the day. They'll be walking around. So there's twelve. Yeah. Right. So at night they're down to about twelve hundred and twenty. People instead of thirteen hundred that'll change it a week. But daytime it's the same group. Now, here's my question. The story that came out about this wasn't so much about the opening of the shelter. It's about the people that are not in the shelter who are still camped out on the streets of Hollywood allegedly. There'll be a crackdown because now they've opened up a homeless shelter. But John if there's that many people thirteen hundred they still don't have a place for them. So can they really crack down on them because they've only got room for seventy two people in their new shelter. I mean, I'd like to crack down and say, no more camping on the sidewalks found shelter. But I thought you have to have space for everybody. I mean, I don't know what other facilities they have in that area. But I, you know, the police the police don't even try. I don't know why you can't set up emergency warehouse shelters on on. There's there's got to be all kinds of God. Owned land and government old buildings that aren't being used. And the government owns tons and tons of sites and buildings. And I I don't understand what the haven't been used. I mean, this is one of these full blown. We're going to give intensive counseling to everyone and he an air conditioning private cubicles in has intensive counseling, supposedly resembles a circus. Big top at seventy two hundred square feet. It's even got a pocket dog park. In case. You have a small animal it's with the dog park. Belly heck was talking about. Now, you're living next door to a twenty four hour open air dog shelter. All that's that's gonna be a racket dogs. Bark all night long. Milan in this. But this neighborhoods disgusting. So that there wasn't any opposition. The only opposition would be from other homeless people. We need to send one of our reporters back because Garcetti's bragging about that other homeless encampment opened up downtown in El Pueblo, and again, the opposition was mostly business owners. He claims that the number of homeless camps in that district has dropped from one hundred thirty seven and there's been a big drop in crime. The last time in mollenbeck went there. He said, well, there's still problems here and businesses down that shelter that they built downtown only housed forty five people. So how do you get from one hundred thirty seven that's the the the camps. I I don't know. I don't. Can't mean there's another story here that in the sepulveda's basin. They're claiming there's only thirty one people living in the weeds and the sepulveda's basin, and and Seino story and everybody says oh my God. No, it's way more than them doing their own counter. They don't believe the count. They say the official counts that the city does is just a big fat lie because then they give the talking point to the reporter. And then the, you know, the dumb ass LA times reporter just repeats the talking point. And there you go. That's the fact that's the reality while it's not city lies. When we come back another peek at the college admission scandal, Laurie Lachlan one of these celebrities caught up in it, of course, is not guilty. So sick, I her her husband Maasim. Oh, what a story he allegedly went to USC. I say allegedly we'll talk about it. John and Ken show. KFI tests.

"It's traffic time right now. And we've got some clarifications to to talk about because I know we said the great were that the northbound side was perhaps in their their escorting cars. But it's not what you think. No, it's not for clarification. It's only in reference to the vehicles that were actually stuck inside that closure. That's the vehicles that they're letting get through to the other side. So basically, we're still talking about a closure both directions of the grapevine on the five closed at Parker road and Kostanic. We're also seeing the sepulveda's basin recreation area and Encino that shutdown due to some flooding flooding affecting the intersection of victory and Woodley and Burbank boulevard likely to be blocked between Hayvenhurst and the four zero five this is all things considered from NPR news. "How that's happening in just one second. This is the Ben Shapiro show. KABC news, live and local. It's four thirty. I'm Liz Warner the mayor of L A is urging the school district and teachers to come back to the bargaining table. And stop negotiating and to stop complaining in the media. Here's Jim Roope, Los Angeles. Mayor Eric Garcetti says good faith bargaining happens in private effective deals. Get done behind closed doors tough negotiations. Surprising, people by press conference isn't useful having things go through more rhetoric than actual results won't help. Our children's school superintendent Austin buehner has presented his proposals in recent days in the media instead of at the table and the teacher's union has been taking him to task in the media. The mayor wants them to close the door and talk to each other. He says to the top five issues are fair wages class size, the need for more, nurses and other support staff charter school growth and the structure of the district. Jim Roope, Los Angeles. Now, the district has set up a hotline that parents can call for more information about the strike that number two one three. Four four three thirteen hundred for information at seven thirty AM tomorrow morning, you tell a president Alex Caputo Pearl and American federation of teachers president, Randi Weingarten will hold a news conference and corruption probe into what was originally a single LA city councilman has now expanded and reportedly includes more than one city hall figure the LA times says an ongoing investigation into councilman Jose weezer is part of a broader corruption probe in which federal agents are seeking possible evidence involving councilman current price and a senior aide to council, president herb Wesson as well as several other city officials and business figures the warrant which was filed in federal coordinator member but reviewed by the times on Saturday said that involves an array of potential crimes, including bribery, kickbacks, extortion, and money laundering involving thirteen people Ken Jeffries, KABC news. The winter storm is bringing troubles to southern California roadways the five is closed through the grapevine north of LA do to heavy. Snowfall and a stretch of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu shut down because of mud flow across the roadway and flow and flooding. Have the sepulveda's basin area closed in Encino? Forecasters say tomorrow storm has the potential to be even stronger than today's blast seven.

"Four what's happening? The five freeway as we told you earlier completely closed in both directions. We've got snow emigrate fine. Pretty cool. I was just checking out one of their traffic cameras up right at five at Frazier mountain where the roadway itself looks bear. Because there were cars on it not too long ago, but they have shut it down. And they're going to have a hard time getting through that we have no idea how long it's going to be closed, but they say I five completely closed in the grapevine or through the grapevine snow has fallen in that area closed northbound at Parker southbound at the base of the grapevine unknown duration. They say, do you gotta go around either the fourteen up to the fifty eight or the one twenty six to the one on one you said on your way into work on lankershim that it was just a a river, and that some cars there were parked there overnight, and unfortunately, probably going to be total because of the rising waters and same thing in the sepulveda's basin and Encino bunch of stranded vehicles at Oxnard analysts say mayor near the baseball fields just south of the. Sepulveda's basin sports complex. Unfortunately, we've been watching the flood advisories in the flood warnings. The only flood warning right now to flash flood warning is in Orange County, and it'll be up for another couple of hours as the rain rolls through there. There were some areas in LA county, the burn areas specifically in hill fire burn area mature county, and then the Wolsey fire burn air in LA, and Ventura counties, and they had been under a flash flood warning that has been lifted, but we're just generally in a flash flood advisory because of the way the rain has been coming down. Or if you look at the radar screen the way it is right now there, I mean, basically from the two ten all the way down through seal beach. Everybody is getting hammered by rain right now before it moves through and starts to taper off. Well, let's take a look at the stock market, shall we? It's not as bad as it was earlier right now, the Dow down three fifty one NASDAQ down forty four s and p five hundred down thirty four this is due to the rest of a Chinese tech exec. Trade war worries continue that that truce looks tenuous at best. This is an executive that is the daughter of the founder of one of China's most important companies and the arrest serves they say is a fresh reminder that we do remain in a trade war despite that alleged ceasefire released excuse me reached last weekend. It's going to be the second day. If you remember on Tuesday, the Dow is down was it a eight hundred almost and then we took the day off of trading and yesterday for the national day of mourning so down four hundred a b twelve hundred points in two days. That's not good. The Golden State killer serial murder case is back in the news. The trial could cost taxpayers more than twenty million dollars. Among the charges the disguise facing four counts of four felony counts of kidnapping during the course of a robbery that was out of contra Costa county is also one trending story internationally, but about American military to U S war planes crashed off the coast of Japan early today. They have confirmed that one person is dead five. Others are still missing the Marine Corps said other recovered crew members were in fair condition. At least one of them was an FAA eighteen that an AK C one thirty refueling plane that collided at about two in the morning after they took off near from a base near Hiroshima. The seven crew members included two in the hornet the FAA eighteen hornet and five in that Casey one thirty they were just doing routine training, they said, which includes aerial refueling. But they're not saying exactly what happened in this accident. Again, they have recovered one crew member taken into the hospital. In fair condition, but they're still looking for five others, not good. How about some good news? Good news. We find something find something. We'll do. Good news. When we come back. We will. All right. That sounds great. Gary and Shannon will continue. Monica Rix, what's up fire? Crews have not done a fire at a liquor store in echo park that fire started shortly before ten this morning at the house of spirits on Sunset Boulevard. The store's owners were inside at the time and called nine one one when they smelled smoke. No one was hurt. The house has approved a short-term spending Bill to avoid a partial government shutdown the move postpones debates over border wall funding and some other issues until later this month the stopgap Bill.
