"Of it was dispelled the notion that when it came to asia that economically everybody was aware by the nineteen nineties. That china was taking off. Southeast asia was taking off. India was even beginning to take off after the nineteen ninety-one liberation of economy and yet when it came to culture that somehow it was only ancient that there was no innovated of quality to asia at all and for me it was kind of a philosophical question and that is that why do we say that is if there's no creativity in india or in other parts of visual and then we have to their for begin to look at it examine it gear fully get the white curator rights collars and begin to present it and it was from that idea that i'm very proud that we had a role to play. I don't want to say single handedly. I've had wonderful colleagues and curator's many of them based in asia. Why was able to work. With and to develop major major exhibitions that then travel all over oliver maratha all over the world. So it's kind of something. I feel that. I had of an opportunity and i feel blessed to have had that opportunity to make a difference in that arena. There is no doubt about thought an as we close out your book. Aptly points out that we have seven point. Seven billion humans on this planet and the novell corona virus is a perfect metaphor for the necessity and challenges. That face us as a planet at global vaccine equity is something we have to accomplish we have to in order to survive. You know as a planet and like i said you did not have a crystal ball and yet your book is so timely as we close out. What would you like to leave for our listeners. To think about when. I say that the bottom line is thought be better seek about our place in on this planet. In relation to the seven point seven billion people who inhabit this planet. So we have to think about our sense of interdependence. We doubt losing our sense of independence. The have to think about ourselves in the global arena. We doubt losing our local rudeness. This means what brett old president johnson used to say that you have to chew gum and walk at the same time you have to and it's not an easy thing but remind yourself whatever you do in your life. How does it's a fact other people. How does it affect people were not part of your your Milia how can we make a difference in our local way that would affect the planet in a global way so all of the royal religions in the in the world has decided idea that the world is one. Fox's Chris Wallace Confronts Biden Advisor Over Claim That Reconciliation Bill Cost $0
"Senior adviser to joe biden. He's a guy named cedric. Richmond you may remember him because biden couldn't remember his name and you know in a very cringe-worthy moment referred to his black senior adviser as my boy or said the boy or my boy cedric richmond. Not a good look. So here's the same cedric richmond. Making this specious. This dishonest this unethical this outright outrageous lie that three point five trillion dollars isn't gonna cost anything. Listen to chris. Wallace has pushed back but at the end of the day chris. I think what's important for people to understand. Is that this piece of legislation zero. We're gonna pay for it all by raising taxes on the very wealthy embiid corporations versus seven. I gotta stop you there. It doesn't cause there whether it's three and a half trillion or two trillion it or one and a half trillion. Whatever it costs that amount of money now you can pay for it either by borrowing or you can pay for it by raising taxes on corporations and the wealthy but it doesn't cost era. Even chris wallace is say. Wait a minute what are you talking about. It cost zero later in the interview. He pushed back again again. I just wanna to press down on this. Because i can understand the argument. A lot of people say that your math is wrong and even that it won't add zero to the debt. You could make the argument if you pay for it. You add zero to the debt. But that doesn't mean that caused zero. I mean the fact that you're raising people's taxes is a cost. We're also reducing taxes in this piece of legislation. it's a fifty million. Americans are going to get a tax cut in this piece of legislation that matt pay for working families but net if it's a two trillion dollar spending plan net net cost two trillion dollars. Well not necessarily sure. And that's why we will make sure that all of the democrats are involved in how we shape it. But everyone's worried about not necessarily about. How are you not necessarily sure about two trillion dollars not costing two trillion dollars. He's the senior adviser to the president of the united states of america. God help
Joe Biden Pledges Aid to Help States Recover From Hurricane Ida
"We're going to cover it all this morning beginning at the white house senior adviser cedric richmond richmond. Thank you for joining us this morning. Let's begin with the devastation. Left by i'd i know you're coming to us from new orleans this morning. You were with president biden on friday. What's the latest on the situation down in your state and what kind of federal emergency assistance will president biden be authorizing. Well we have all hands on deck down here. We issued a priest storm disaster declaration and then in the middle of the night after the storm hit. The president signed a disaster declaration so that freed up individual assistance for families and individuals and we still encourage people to go to disaster assistance dot gov and apply for benefits and especially those critical needs assistance. So that we can get money in the hands of people To do it and one of the reasons why the president wanted to come down and come down so early because he wanted to see things on the ground and we know what the problems on. we're actually Helping to resolve them and that is getting power back on in homes. That's getting gas too. Few stations desk getting tarps out there. So people can start to mitigate their damage. and then it's to to create and provide that assistant so people that do come home after a week of not having electricity to have to replenish refrigerator. And you know most people. Don't think of it in that sense but part of why we're here is we want to know what real people deal with. And that's a four hundred dollar expense. A five hundred dollar expense to replenish a refrigerator. So we wanna make sure that's just a small example of what we're doing but we wanna make sure we're meeting. The needs of people encounter them and let them know. We're going to be here for the long haul
Biden Gets Support From the Koch Political Network
"Of the cook left. And the Cook, right? I think libertarians But not all libertarians are cooks, of course. But there are kooks. Coke world believes in open borders at the same time, it believes in diminishing our defenses. In other words, it's suicidal in my humble opinion. Suicidal. They weren't always this way. But they're this way now. Coke world comes to Biden's defense on Afghanistan. This is Axios, which is a left wing side. President Biden is getting some unlikely backing for his Afghanistan troop withdraw from a long time nemesis, the Coke political network. They haven't been a longtime nemesis for a long time now. Concerned Voters for America, a foreign policy focus arm of Charles Cox stand together political and policy apparatus is coming to Joe Biden's defense after the U. There should be a thorough review of how the withdrawal was undertaken. 'The Socialists Are Coming! The Socialists Are Coming!'
"Night i was talking with the former national figure a senior advisor to president trump a longtime fixture in republican party circles. Who for twenty years is wage. The good fighting afghanistan and as the american dream for that country dies. And there's no other way to put it. I'm gonna talk with representative. Lose cheney about it later today. On top of the collapse of the commitment to free enterprise represented by the democratic party. Full embrace of socialism and the passage of a full on socialist budget by bernie sanders in the senate after already four trillion dollars of spending over two years. It will mean eight trillion dollars a printed money. After all of that i was i was feeling pretty low last night. Saying my gosh. What have we done for twenty years. What what have we been fighting for forty years if we're just going to be a socialist backwaters country. That can't can't keep our commitments to fight for. We pull it. Because i began my wife with the fall of southern vietnam helicopters on the on the embassy in saigon. I went to college. I was a sophomore in college when that happened. Nineteen seventy five and here. We are kaba will look that way within thirty days. They're saying ninety days now. I'm not giving them ninety days unless the taliban decide well we don't need it we'll take it next next fighting season let's let's just go live in kandahar and konduz for the rest of the year and we'll get cobble next year then it might not fall but otherwise we're gone we're just getting our people out and god bless our marines for doing that but then i thought fight my man said sir andrew barton i am hurt but i am not slain. All lay me down. Bleed awhile and rise and fight again. It's my motto. Wiped out two thousand and eight. You get wiped out in two thousand and six you got wiped out at the polls in in two thousand. Eighteen is just realize the nineteen ninety-four out there somewhere. There's a nineteen eighty out there somewhere. Indeed i think we're going to wipe out. The democrats goes country does not wanna be socialist country and the democrats are socialist.
Biden's Senior Advisor Admits Latest Eviction Ban Is Unconstitutional
"Gene sperling is joe biden's senior adviser. Here's a senior adviser at admitting that extending the ban on evictions for people who won't pay rent is unconstitutional to date. The director and her team have been unable to find legal authority even for a more targeted eviction moratorium that would focus just on counties with higher rates of of kovic. This is a president who really understands the heartbreak of the fiction. He is the reason why he is pressing and pressing. Even when legal authority look slim is because he wants to make sure we have word. Every potential authority. Can you believe this. Jr here's the legal authority. Looks slim but he knows the heartbreak of addiction. Does he know the heartbreak of people losing their livelihood when they can't get rent when they're not receiving the rent payment. That's do what about the heartbreak of people who know that wells fargo needs the mortgage payment. They're not gonna they're not waving it away. I got to pay the bank. I gotta pay. What about that

And that has made things very hard on people trying to pay their rent. Last september the cdc issued a moratorium on evictions to protect these people. It was recently extended until the end of july and yesterday the supreme court kept it in place but come august. It is over today. The white house is hosting a summit to highlight available assistance for both renters and landlords. Gene sperling is a senior advisor to the president and the coordinator of the american rescue plan and he joins us now. Thanks for being with us. Thank you rachel. thanks for having me. So people who haven't been able to pay their rent during the pandemic have gotten this month's many month-long reprieve. what happens to them after the eviction. Moratoriums well rachel. We're doing a fact that our nation even before the pandemic has never had a national infrastructure policy to prevent unnecessary evictions week before the pandemic we have three point six million addictions year many unnecessary many. Where people just owed five or six hundred dollars so the eviction moratorium really stepped in its estimates per head to prevent about two point two million addictions now what we really need eviction. Moratorium comes to an end is that congress gave significant money through the emergency rental assistance but most states and localities don't have white programs. We're now in the race and

"It's one of the things that i love being able to do for half for owners. Voyeurs businesses is be that external third party it definitely there is no way to get that Objective perspective and that objective perspective brought to the conversation. I do a certified mediator. And i can see i've seen first hand. How having somebody else who is viewed by both parties at being external and more objective it creates more of a more powerful bunyamin role for the organization. And it you can. You can sidestep so many issues by somebody just feeling like they have this. Just just the thought that there is somebody else that they could call and talk to you. It's it's like having this security blanket in the back pocket and it may never come to anything it when you don't feel like you had that safety blanket. That's when employees turned to other external. Go talk to a friend of a friend who has a lawyer and they say oh you. Should you look into that right. No i talk to me. I solve things and i also appreciate that. Sometimes there's hard news to be delivered and it's difficult for some people given the relationship that's necessary to be supportive and positive With your employees. You want that kind of a culture and so when there's some tough stuff that needs to be deliver being able to rely on an outside person to assist with that kind of be a little bit of bad really is a helpful dynamic in some situations as well crew to cookham or questions left but those up and coming companies. You know maybe go. Ten twenty thirty employees of you know being fly by the seat their hands up until this point now they realize they're on a good thing and they start to buckle down and bring some resources. I mean what what stage are what. What would you recommend for those companies and being that for stage in ho to transition to be more compliant especially around the each our site. Yeah well actually for those organizations sometimes. It's not that's really where not so much. The compliance piece the capacity building piece is critical and so making sure you got the proper infrastructure in place to allow smooth road. I've seen so many organizations where they've tried to take that leap without the infrastructure in place and particularly when you hit different threshold so there are different laws that hit when you are five. Ten twenty five a fifty one hundred. And if you don't look ahead to where you're going strategically what you think your head count's gonna be. What is your workforce gonna look like what is your management structure going to need to be. How are you going to have a employee. Communications in place tip assila tate. All of those types of things. So there is a big organizational as well as system. Prep you can do. And i see organizations. That don't do that. They don't do the poor planning that's necessary. They take leave. their systems can't handle it. The organizational structure can't handle it and that's when things start to break down and then you hit a plateau. You have to pause and so we'll come in and we'll help those organizations. Get it done. But i love it when i work with an owner an employer who has the foresight to plan ahead and we can put those things in place in advance ready to go for social. So if you want to find more people. "Before and you put it in place. Now make sense that make sense. Yes definitely he goes back to my comment at the beginning of that. Know it's definitely a little bit of a minefield that in a to keep up to date with all those law changes. Sally something that i i knew when i was in my business that it is almost impossible to to keep track o- fund so that's why i used to rely on my hr office manager by. Yeah there's definitely professionals out there like yourself able to go in and independently help him help companies. No when you typically take on a new client. Who's either unfortunately in the middle of some type of scenario and realize the need talbot what works some of the issues. You typically see when you start to pull back a layers on whether you look at the humber car whether dylan within within the company. Yeah absolutely so our approach when we work with a new client is to do an initial full assessment of their hall. Hr operations and then also become familiar with not typically. Where are they at as an organization. where are they. What are their goals in terms of them. Want wanna take for business next stages and from that. We can build a plan for you know. First level is is compliance. Making sure we've got everything. Locked them hosted the next step is. Are we doing things as efficiently as possible It may be that they need a different system for how they're managing their employees information They their they may not be in the proper. Hr a us to thumb They may not be using an effective payroll system some of the biggest pitfalls that i see That are the riskiest for employers. Is around waging our clients so we often start there. Do we have people properly classified again in california. We have another a new law that went into effect as the beginning of this year with regards to independent contractor classification. I expect numerous states will follow suit And and develop similar laws as well and what it does. Is it really restricts how you can use workers that are not paid through payroll and that is a huge liability if you have somebody misclassification and you're paying them as a contractor. You haven't been paying your employment taxes on them and the you have no records necessarily of what their hours worked for. An any claim can be made So that's a huge liability underage our so that's one of the biggest risks areas that we that we find is as problems with how how in our compliance has been handled Certainly handbooks are They constantly need to be updated. Typically i say at least every three years but these days i used to do every year. Just use to get some of the next party just to go in and review them so just cover myself. Yes and that's you know everything is fine until something goes wrong. And then that's when if you don't have your updated hamble to don't have policies that are complaint you don't have policies that meet with the way that your business needs to operate There are a lot of things that are up to employer discretion how you do vacation and sick time or did you do. Pto and that. Nobody says that you have to even offer Vacation time you're required to offer sick time It's up to you. You can set those parameters up however you want doesn't make sense for your business and those things get if you review those on a on a regular basis and update as you need to hot. That's always a very important Factor that comes into play when we when we worked with a client. And then they're just our ongoing issues so when you're dealing with employee issues of you have a sensitive separation on a toxic employees that you need that influencing your culture negative way that you need to deal with it sometimes. They're even a top warmer but the cost and impact to the rest of the organization needs to be dealt with and we look to pass practice. So we really dig into you. Don't just get the pat answer of what you could look up and google but actually look at how you handled things in the past and what makes sense for your business are individually for how you handle those situations Because past practices one of the primary things that If anything does get to the legal front will be dug out and pointed to so we make sure that there is continuity and consistency there. Forty mr non. i mean. i'm assuming that you know. Companies are are having some particular issue and then they're contacting someone like yourself. I mean all of the time is potentially to lay because it already in deep trouble whereas the preferential part is to go through some type of an ongoing updates on what your policies are on a regular basis because a lot of people say well. I need to save you know. Save money by not using some of the external then usually catches up with them. If they're if they've been doing something this noncompliant it's kind of like going to the dentist. You know you go just when you get you pay right and then maybe you have to get in hell or you can just do your regular obviously months. Go get your plan. They check it out. They see a problem. Maybe they just do a filling or something else so if you wanna do if you want to run your business in crisis management mode you know you can do that and end up with the root canal or you know you can invest in properties ongoing best practices for how you run your business and yeah does it. Take some time and energy and resources to do that. Yes but yes sleep better at night. You know you've got yourself covered. You don't have to be worried about what around corner You can feel confident. There's no guarantees. i understand But you can be reassured. That you're you've set yourself up in the best way possible situations that might come down the pike now makes sense and and along the same lines seen both sonata. Work where you've either got some internal each our office manager type person has the hambo confronted them. Also seen a scenario where there's not an external company used an external company can be as a little bit of a buffer almost like that independent point that can be you know. Prevent certain scenario is going down certain path of even suppose an example being some type of harassment case work net if you have some type of external resource than usually they could deal without pre quickly average sabs elision of houston scenarios. Like all the time. It's one of the biggest benefits. I mean even as an hr as an internal hr practitioner. I weighed oftentimes need to bring in. You know unfortunately many times it would end up having to be an employment attorney right. Because i needed to have somebody who wasn't as connected as i was being internal so.

"I am really excited. State to be joined by katrina fair rings. So thank you for joining us. Your i believe your partner with the pacific. Chris group yes indeed. I am cool. Tell me a little bit your your background for the listeners. Please donkey robert for having me join you. So i am a season by. Hr professional i have done. Hr my entire career and have held all roles from being an assistant. Get an hr department to running my own Department as the human resources officer at this point in my career. I transitioned to doing. Hr consulting uh specifically to bring kind of higher level hr expertise to small and mid sized businesses that would traditionally not be able to afford or would make sense for them to have achieved a chief. Hr officer on board and typically. It's hr that an owner or a operations director. Maybe even just an office manager is responsible for and it's not rocket science but there are a lot of different ways to apply it based on your business you're industry or size and so it can be a little bit overwhelming and that's where you come in and help make sure that works setting up companies to run smoothly efficiently and completely and it was awesome. Yeah i and i remember when. I have my company with tons of employees and i felt as it was such a minefield. Sa- go through. Because now you feel you know things but as you probably know better than me is lost. Seem to change Especially when you're dealing with multi states and all the different changes they are so yeah. I definitely appreciate what you do you. So you've probably experienced. A lot of us was interesting questions when all the business owners are being going through these challenging times over the last twelve. Thirteen months. And probably things that you haven't you never experienced before for sure working from home so talk through co you're handling the Advising companies yes absolutely. Well certainly you're right. It is constantly Particularly volatile and dynamic environment that we're operating in right now with regards to co bet so obviously. We all had to jump through hoops last year and put together Site safety plans and figure out how to shut down how to get. People set up to work remotely. How to manage workforce whether it's was layoffs or You know putting people internally on on leaves Lots of different arrangements depending on the the employer in what was needed to keep the business afloat. And now we're looking at as the vaccines are available. We're looking at. What do we do about requiring vaccines not requiring vaccines and the initial Guidance from the eoc was that you could require it a so. I've been guiding clients on how to implement a policy around that that allows them some flexibility depending on how things of all continued to of all and also based on what the nature of their business is the necessity for protecting the business by Making sure that more people are vaccinated Within their organization And then when you decide that you want to reopen how do you go back to nature our yes. So it's it's not like it's clear where we're at and every organization on their employees and the type of work that they do will dictate how that happens and then we also have to stay on top of all of the safety protocols And making sure we're doing having worker safety at as a priority and keeping people educated about what's okay and what's not how do you how do you handle all the records. From all of this period of time it's covered by rules with regards to osha as well as Medical information for the hypocr laws hustle. Stuff all of those things. Yes he dealt with seeing just before. We started recording that of even harrison challenges. Know where what was it. Some states are no beginning into all backup. There's a lot more vaccines available. You know they're starting to request that employees come back into work with you know guidelines in place but know f- either. The employees have genuine fears of coming back to work or perhaps they're used to working from home environment than having to deal with traveling and that one or not challenging position where would put did they do they for some back and guidance to the tape from for people like yourself yeah absolutely well the asthma. So many issues. The most important thing is that you have a solid policy About what your expectations are with regards to returning to work. And then from there you can deal with those individuals situations and just like we had at the beginning of the pandemic. We had infrastructure businesses. That were able to continue operation Through despite the pandemic they obviously had to have a lot of Protocols put into place in order for them to be able to continue to function But there were employees that were concerned. And and if you have a solid policy then you can look at that and determine if there is a need for an accommodation a real need is based on medical need and so you could handle that as a specific accommodation rather than. I'm doing it for this person. I'm not doing that person. And if there is not a legitimate reason than you have every you it's totally up to you. The ball is in your court should be able to make the decision of what action. You're going to take with regards to that employees and you have every right to say. Well you're choosing not to return to work just like if somebody decide they're not gonna show up for work you know. Abandonment and people have that right and they had that choice. Most date Manage dates have employment at will which is at any time somebody can decide. It's not the right job for them at that The need and it's not based on something that is protected which you already laid out your clear policy. Then it's easier to navigate how you make decisions than handle those specific situation but sugar's there's many situations we're probably most company policies. They didn't have anything like that. Saudi and their books so perhaps a them have not had a chance to go back through and review them so as soon as probably quite a few scrambling to try and figure out warrantless for those policies and is that then seem by. There was employees that are just rushing to to deal with ups Pacific scenario That may be the case but that is always the case than it's very clear in any employee hamble that you say that is all those policies are subject to change at anytime and and as the situation requires will issue that policy as needed. And you know for example. There's some there's the new relief. Bill that president by signed are but it has many hr relevant topics including the expansion of the emergency sick time and we have an overlapping law in california as well For that the governor governor gavin newsom signed. But you also Addresses emergency sick time For people having effects from getting the covid vaccine right they would have been able to use that emergency time and in california. That's down to employers that have five employees and so yes you would not have had a policy in place.
Fighting Intensifies Between Israel and Hamas
"And Hamas militants in Gaza intensified further today when Israel leveled a 12 story building that housed several media outlets, among them The Associated Press and Al Jazira. Israel gave a now hours notice before launching the Rockets that turned the high rise into rubble and the people in the building were evacuated. CBS NEWS correspondent MTs T. AP reports Israel is under increasing pressure to agree to a cease fire. We do know that Hamas said to Israel Hey, we're ready for a ceasefire in Israel said No. In fact, we spoke to Mark Regev, who's a senior adviser for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, just yesterday, and he said that's a ceasefire wasn't on the cards. But with this international pressure growing, we have a number of Arab countries really pushing for this. We have a number of European countries pushing this for this. Now the kind of concern we're hearing from Washington. There could be some sort of what's described here is the cessation of hostility, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said. On social media. We have communicated directly to the Israelis that ensuring the safety and security of journalists and independent media is a paramount responsibility. The Israeli military claims it targeted the building because Hamas intelligence agencies were using the media offices as human shields. Gas supplies. They're starting to

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Facing Impeachment Investigation
"The governor once again. The he had done anything inappropriate. He said that he had not abused anybody but he acknowledged that perhaps People took it negatively post for them with a picture. He said he's sorry for making anybody uncomfortable. But right now. He's trying to forge ahead defy despite pressure all around him. What about the reporting on his staff and the nursing homes will governor. Cuomo himself has not addressed the report about his aides and allies. Making contact with other former staffers but rich as a party. A senior adviser said that it was an effort that happened organically and regularly there are conversations with former staffers. Governor cuomo has responded to criticism over his handling of nursing home situations by saying that the state's actions were taken to preserve hospital capacity and that they were consistent with federal guidance at the time. The state is cooperating. The governor and his lawyers have said with federal inquiries into the nursing home matter and the state has said that in the instances where it held back some data from the public it did so out of concern for the accuracy of those data and a desire to not misrepresent what had happened now as you mentioned the new york state assembly including many democrats members of the governor's own party say they are launching an impeachment investigation into these allegations. How would that work. And what would the time line be going forward there. There's very little guidance on how it would work or a timeline. As the last time in new york governor was impeached was in nineteen thirteen. The state doesn't give a standard in its constitution the way the federal government has the high crimes and misdemeanors standard. So what would have to happen. Is members of the state. Assembly would have to consider a resolution of with articles of impeachment if it passed by a majority in that one hundred fifty member democrat dominated house. It would initiate a trial and if convicted by two thirds of the people present for the trial. Mr cuomo would be removed from office. Thing that it's important to note. Is that under new york law. Even upon the act of impeachment state law provides that governor cuomo would lose the executive powers that are currently afforded to his office. What we heard from the leaders of the state assembly on thursday is that the chamber's judiciary committee would move forward with an investigation that would have the ability to issue subpoenas hear testimony from witnesses. Consider documents about both the accusations of inappropriate workplace behavior as well as the concerns over covid nineteen state nursing homes which is also being looked at by federal prosecutors based in brooklyn. Jimmy governor cuomo emerged as a national leader during the pandemic and now a year later. This is a much different reality. his facing. yes that's right. What's remarkable about what's happening to governor cuomo now is that. He's arguably at his lowest of lows in his four decade long political career. And it's coming immediately. After a high. In the early days of the pandemic governor cuomo gained national prominence for daily briefings about the corona virus. He placed himself and a circle of close. Aides at the center of all aspects of new york's pandemic response and he received plaudits. He won an emmy award for the briefings point. In december. he was under consideration for appointment. "Senior advisor nothing he's a senior he's a certified senior advisor had planned retirement solutions the four four nine nine nine plan at eight four four triple nine plan I did say that wrong excitement as a certified senior advisor was going alright how you know and see what you know since it's a piece of paper yeah well you know and a lot of people like to see that'll do just behind your name you know on your business card and CFC the alphabet soup exactly and that Kennedy is one who told me about that and can he's an author and I went to the study under him for a while to this this coaching group I was working with the docking Khloe in Cleveland a couple years ago and he said it'd make a difference he says he doesn't matter how many digits are behind your name what they call yourself you know your ethics comes from your soul okay yes for Cunningham you're going to be a good guy and you can do the right thing you're not and doesn't make a doggone bit different what kind of paper you got says you can do it you know and I know you know that kind of thing so I just want to do the public's understanding of your instincts tell you right now references a good did you typically more likely you got pretty sick person working on it but he's at work or someone got out of that sit behind a name that could be a good thing or not so good things so again well the warm warm fuzzy yeah I mean I think the warm fuzzies go along way right I mean I think we have that we have an instinct for a reason and that can apply to more than just survival you know you know and I mean as we mentioned before the show we start talking about you know how how cold it is affected our business and not just mine I mean and and you know your Atlanta New York Chicago everyone online you know all over the country code was affected everybody's business and ours is not not exempt of VAT but the financial services business about building relationships and I've got clients that that won't go anywhere else but to see me and I know I know finance a friend of mine who who in the same industry have the same thing going on so what does that mean that means over time you build relations with people you work with them for this you work with your family work with our friends and you're there for them all the time in these trying times and of called it in in this market doing what it's doing you know that's the difference the big differences when people can really realize Hey you know what I can trust this guy I can this guy's gonna be there for me all the time yes I can coach Pete years ago told me that Hey you know you got to be on the radio for five months before people start listening to you and paying attention to what you're saying and I've been on the radio ten years yes it is dean I am in a Sunday I have loyal listeners out there like Linda and and John and change a few of the guys I can maybe name but the fact the matter is is when I change time from the seven shot of a twelve shot of the one time to change the time frame from time to time they can Hey mark what's going on with him anyway so I always thought it was a move to time yeah we just moved the time about that so but I you know again you know my business is no different anybody else's business it except you know we have ninety nine percent of what we're going with his face to face and it's been hard to do yeah it's hard to do exactly some people who are our age group convening the people that work with us the pre retired people are post retired people are more accustomed to the face to face than trying to do some months in camera and also being at risk makes a little more concerning here exactly all of that makes a difference so you know it I don't want people to say I don't want to go talk to him I want to call him or her whoever happens to be because of coal but I want to do use covers excuse because you know time moves on the need still there the planning has to be done if you're going to you're not getting any younger you know and then the market is changing every day so sometimes for the better sometimes not so we still need the plan and what we do here is find the transitions is income planning for retirement we're not the average Joe we're the ones who really take a good hard look at everything you're dealing with your dollars and cents and make sense of it okay and do we need to do this or do we need to do that and you have to answer the question about me okay but analyze where we're going to take you where what you've saved your whole lifetime four where that is going to take using take you five years out ten fifteen twenty thirty forty you have that money whatever ever what happens a system like some kind of a catastrophe happens now be that as it may I was talking just last week actually I was talking to my sister in law who lost her husband and everybody listen to me knows that I lost my brother not Christmas now she's alone okay right I said to her as his own attorney but I don't know since I caller since most of the time I says now you have a you know I'm in other major mouth to what you've been taking care of your your at your husband with this disease he had for so long now who's gonna take care you should you get sick your son is grown gone got a family of his own he's you know he's like you know day away you gonna want him to drop what he's doing this business since kids in his family to come take Kerry right right I mean this is these are things we all at some point in time have to ask ourselves so whether we say and what my referring to of course referring to the long term care issues okay she might settle on that consequently put her husband into long term care facility right before he passed but that being said she took care of him day in and day out for the year ten years okay so again I mean we all have to do the planning we all have to say Hey you know what I'm I'm alone I'm not alone what if this happens what if that happens and then we also have to address the issue of what if it doesn't happen okay I'm a big fan of taking care of things like that but you know I'm a lot of people say well I don't want to buy long term care insurance and I don't want you to buy it either but I want you to know what you're gonna do should you need it do you have enough money to self insure the difference or you have your money position right place to pay for those difficult for example what does it mean Equifax came out with the annuity contract that pays double for long term care expenses some interesting and go figure what does that mean that means if you get sick the income that pays you pay you twice as much and you don't have to qualify it's like the you know so I mean it all boils down to the individual and what they want to do with what they have and how well they want to be taken care of their own business so again you know we it's planning the simple planning in hand to me yeah you know I've been doing it for thirty years or plus twenty five let's say many feel welcome he yeah there's but call call twenty five plus you hook up twenty five but the truth this is Hey I don't care how you slice it you know there's some kind of plan is gonna be done so be that as it may I mean I've been doing for a long time work with a lot of families work with just about every scenario possible forward backward sideways upside down every which way so I and I encourage people to pick up the phone and give me a call to set up a time on the phone a phone message at a sky a facetime something so we can start talking about what you need to do and how I can help you plan for forever for what for what comes up yeah yes exactly for for all of these things that we think about not you may if you think I don't think about that that you're not telling me the truth you do think about it okay what you taught I think you're talking hindsight to really like exactly and actually that was we're gonna talk about so it's kind of funny that you kind of one on this little speech about this is it with his sister in law and all these kind of things I mean we are all guilty of of looking at hindsight and sing and man I just ha if I had just done this bubble up a block but yet why you're doing that you're still taking more time to take action you're not moving it out to you so your next thing you know you're gonna be hind sighting yet again instead of moving forward exactly exactly and the repercussions from matter traumatic it really really ten tremendous yeah exactly and you know in the end I'm not suggesting people buy something then I can suggest at all if I can educate you in activity is is tremendously dangerous right exactly you talk about a product or anything just about just simple simple action yeah just taking action doing something like the little you know having the long term care conversation as you said to your sister what are you going to do what is your plan to take care of yourself that's actually I get it yeah yeah absolutely yeah well you know I just I just want the best for everybody possible you know and I I worked my tail off to to do that all I can do for these folks and and I love them I mean what can I say I mean I I've seen too much sadness and now in in how people haven't really prepared and and I don't see anymore I want to see you know I I the sadness is the only this is that the comp overcome people in in this kind of stuff but and in the in the financial devastation it causes I just want people to be prepared yeah I think well I tell you what you know it was actually as a group great opening monologues to have a conversation about that so what we'll do is we'll we'll just jump out here love couple minutes early into a break we'll come back and we'll talk some more about hindsight in some things to to think about and how to hopefully get ourselves motivated to take a little bit action so reach out tomorrow give him a call eight four four triple nine plan to take the action now eight four four eight nine eight nine nine seven five two six have a phone conversation with them for a few.

I've had lots of coffee with extra expresso so since I've been here so tell us a little bit y you know what are you doing. What's the trip like for you here So today I am chatting with lots of great reporters like yourselves elves and then we are doing a young professionals happy hour this evening also doing some engagement with the urban league young professionals and some of the young professionals in the area and then tomorrow I'm doing a bunch of political meetings of May phone calls Hyping up our our organizers in our volunteers so I'm just super excited sided to be here. We are very very very much looking forward to the Nevada caucuses and was there trivia. It's you heard about the ninety. I do a lot of I try. I have the opportunity to travel for the campaign. I do a Lotta round tables and I appreciate the team here in Nevada because they said I'm sure you're tired of round table so we're going to trivia instead of a round table so I bought all my good Joe Biden. Facts I was GONNA say is Joe Biden Trivia it it is it is political slant only for Joe and obvious. Plant okay cool. Well I guess just to get started. Then you know what. There's there's a lot of Democrats running you know what drew to Joe Biden. There are a lot of Democrats running I think it's unprecedented actually for Democrats. Have this many folks folks in the race As early as it was I mean at one point in time there was upwards of twenty five different candidates so Jimmy to Vice President Biden his really his message The first I conversation I sat down and I had with him. We talked about a lot. I was only supposed to be there for thirty minutes. Ended up staying for two hours Joe Biden I'd like to say his greatest retail politician in America. Can he can chat. And I'm also a chatty cathy so you can imagine that we had a good time but there were two things in the conversation that struck me one. He talked about the first time he was elected to national office. Federal Office and it was when he ran obviously for United States Senate but he said he was twenty nine years old and at the time I was twenty nine I just turned thirty. And he said he was running against an incumbent and so many people questioned if he was ready could he do it. Did he have the maturity or the stamina or the experience because he was just a county councilman before but he won against the incumbent He ran against him and he won and he served the United States. Senators folks know up until he was tapped to be the vice president who former President Obama and so he talked about how he knows what. It's like to be a young person that wants to have their voice heard one to want to affect the a political conversation and people saying you know. Maybe it's natural time and that really resonated with me. The second thing you talked about was going to be so power and vice versa by it says that people think he authored the violence against Women Act because he knew someone who had a personal brush he personally knew someone who had a brush with domestic violence and while that's probably true for all of us his reason for authoring the act was because he said his father always told him that an abuse of power is the most egregious and grotesque Thing that could go on and you if you see an abuse of power if you witness it you cannot sit by and watch it happen you have to do something about it and if you think about domestic violence it is it is it is a grotesque exercise Sir size of an abuse of power. And that's what he did. Act he said concurrently. What I'm seeing from the White House In the trump administration throughout is an abuse of power he said and I didn't you want to sit on the sidelines and think about what if I would have ran for president he said so. That is why I am in this race. And he said if if Donald Trump wasn't running was not the president he probably would not be in this. You know he didn't plan to run for president again but Charlottesville was an inflection point for him. What we are seeing is is not only normal what it is is not only not normal but it is an abuse of power and we have to do something about it and I was like? I'm with it sir. Okay I'm with it so now I'm here. We've been doing a lot of great things and I feel like we've been on this campaign trail for well over a year and we have not. It hasn't even been a year yet. Our campaign launched in April of twenty nine thousand nine but we are very much so looking forward to The the voting starting in February and we roll on. Through to super to Zambia. You were with Bernie Sanders in the two thousand sixteen campaign pain and Joe Biden's a very different candidate very different politician very different kind of leader than Bernie. Sanders is I imagine that there's going to be a lot the focus the campaign on converting People who are Bernie Sanders. Supporters Were Lisbeth Warren supporters to be Joe Biden support. So you made that journey so so tell us how you how you were going to convince people to join you. How am I going to convince people to vote for Joe Biden? Look Yeah I'm very proud of the work that I did. In Two thousand sixteen and have respect for Senator Senator Sanders and the operation that he built are it is still very early. And I know we've all been saying that since January twenty nineteen but it it is still very early there are people. You know we do this every day. We're what I like to call professional politicos but most people like my mom or my sister They are not. I plugged in there. Like what is there a debate today. There's another debate. Yes another debate three debates in February actually. Now be here today so I really think what it's about is his understanding that most voters are not actually plugged into what's happening every single day. Potential voters are not plugged in but come. After the holidays. People will be turning their attention and tuning in more into what's happening in these various campaigns. It'll be our job to make sure that we have built an operation and that we have a message that speaks the folks and operation that can go Getting reach those people and we've absolutely done that here in Nevada and places where we don't have we're we're getting more brick and mortar offices. That will be up and running post holiday but in places where we do not have offices particularly places like role Nevada. We've had organizers there for weeks and that is what will make the difference making phone calls knocking on doors getting volunteers. The offices caucuses are as you all know a very unique exercise. And you you need folks who are enthused but you also need people who are feel like they are. Yeah well read about their candidate and we are building an operation that makes people feel comfortable about going in the caucus that breaks down the mystery behind the process S. but to Communicating the message and look Joe Biden is is the most electable candidate is the best to be Donald Trump. Not because is gonNA take Another old white man white man. He's the most electable because of his message because of his character in every single way. Joe Biden is the is the is the Anti I. Trump is the opposite of trump. He is the answer and that is the message that we're taking out so to your question about the voters and I think right now. The voter support quart. There's no consequence for your support. Right now you know we can. I can support this chair for the Democratic nominee for president. There's no consequence to my support is not real yet but post holidays as come January February Your support your vote becomes very real in their consequences for your vote in this election. My My my question actually was more attuned. Do not just persuading voters in general and I agree. You're probably right. They're not paying attention. My question was specifically progressive voters. Are you going to convince people who are fans of Bernie Sanders because he has progressive agenda to support Joe Biden whose agenda is not as progressive. We could all agree is is not as progressive as not as far to the left is not as progressive. I think it comes down to really who gets defined. What progressive is in two thousand nineteen? Twenty twenty you know. I remember. I worked governor's race in two thousand fourteen post the passage of the affordable care act. And when you couldn't utter the words healthcare nor President Obama and Dan the fight to get the affordable care act passed a hard fought fight and I remember that in the in the chorus of litigating that before the legislation was was done they were talking about a public option. People said that was to progressive. Now all of a sudden vice-president Biden his healthcare plan that builds on the success of obamacare talks about a public option. Somehow that's no longer progressive so I reject the notion that we don't have progressive policies. I think the difference between What Senator Sanders or even Senator Warren is proposing it? What Vice President Biden is proposing? Is that we attach a dollar amount to what we are proposing and we can tell you how we're going to get it done and so what I would say to supporters of Senator Sanders supporters of A Senator Warren if we were to be the Democratic nominee which I I think we will be as a look. We have to come together to get this thing done. Democratic voters across the board whether they're the most progressive or slightly Progressive Democrats at the end of the day they wanna be Donald Trump. And that's really the heart of it listener and that's the most important all the voters and I just told you we can add. You don't even have to look at me. Look at the polls poll tell you that Joe Biden is the Best S. POSITION TO BE DONALD TRUMP. But again we're the most electable. Because at the types of policies that we're proposing and Joe Biden has a proven track record to get it done here for orval cats. He was there for the recovery. So you don't think that people who are more left than than Vice President Biden is we'll have to give up anything thing. They won't have to put aside some of their beliefs in say I really would like this but vice president Biden is the one to be Donald Trump. They're not going to have to surrender under something to come over to your no look. I think I know I don't think I'll have to quote unquote surrender anything to support Vice President Biden whether whether we're talking about campaign finance reform now. That's that's a topic a lot of folks in his waist. WanNa talk about now. Joe Biden was the original sponsor of legislation for campaign finance reform. Back Act before was popular. You want to talk about climate change Effect that the vice president regularly likes a site that I will now side is a political act Way Back when before everybody else was talking about. Climate change and saving the planet cited. Joe Biden as I'm paraphrasing but something like the climate crusader so he has been at the forefront of all of these control. Don't forget gun control. Okay you WanNa talk about the assault weapons ban. The only the last time I thought weapons were banned in this country for ten years. It was because because of legislation that Joe Biden fought for and wrote the violence against women. We can go down the recovery. ACT The formal care. You WanNa go most recently The cures act so which was passed in at the end of the Obama Biden Administration after the two thousand sixteen election action. So I would remind Voters they want. You can't believe everything you read on twitter But also to that there are there are real consequences for what we do at the ballot box this election and what we do in this election what we decide over the next couple of months. We'll have longstanding implications for generation to calm and we are campaign that is putting forth what we believe is a bold progressive vision for for America But also the world because you know Joe Biden is uniquely positioned to be able to walk into the Oval Office on Day One to pick up the phone and call these world leaders. We have to reassert. Assault started ourselves on the world stage and I think that he is the only candidate in this race. That has the unique foreign policy skill set because foreign policy is now domestic policy. Do you WanNa talk about climate change. You know we are America's what only fifteen percent of the world's emissions and so. We can do what we need to do here in America if we you don't get the rest of the world on board we will not save our planet and I just think that is A message that resonates across the board whether someone is a moderate it's a Democrat or extra super lefty Progressive Democrat. So I guess we'll it remains to be seen. You know ballots have mccafe's yet but we're confident in the message that we've put forward so having worked in both primary seasons in sixteen and now what are some of the differences. We've heard covering it..

"Who Biden senior adviser is lady by the name of the needed done and she's the one who's trying to get Julie on a shut down she's won the set all the letters to you know ABC NBC and fox news. she was a bomb is communication director back in the day she played a role in Obama's fox news boycott. when she was in that a Medicare insurance thing see what did you know about all of the Democrats the boycott fox news now she sent out letters to fox news asking them to boycott Giuliani are Democrats hate free speech and they really do good luck if your conservative speaker trying to go to a college campus because there's gonna be some numb nuts there the doesn't want you to speak and it's not just college kids as this proves right here its campaigns of major. presidential candidates trying to do the same thing so this philosophy of not being all in on freedom of speech starts at the top and goes all the way down. all I'm speaking of Rudy Giuliani he has been served his subpoena by the house Intel committee so that makes our two people that we know of right now that have been served their subpoena still bar and and Rudy right and this is going to be just the tip of the iceberg here you're gonna see a lot of people getting the subpoenas before it's all said and done Mike Pompeii L.. Hey I got his but bill Barr will get his before it's all said and done but Giuliani the second one to receive second major player to receive his subpoena now remember when the Democrats came out nine agents said this whole impeachment thing this isn't about politics this is about right and wrong this is to show everybody that nobody is above the law remember that little spiel we heard well representative sherry boost those told the house Democrats that they were going to begin polling voters in key swing states about the impeachment and three Democrats were on this call the Democrats claim that I miss boost those did not outline the specific time line but you're going to be polling key people key Democrats in swing states to see what they think about the impeachment trial if impeachment is not political then why bother with the poll this is morally right doesn't.

"Was the senior advisor to President Barack Obama for most of the eight years he was in office not long after leaving office. She became the subject of a racist tweet from Roseanne Barr now she's out with a memoir. I talked to her about that memoir. She opened up about her views on the current political climate at present tweet and advice for democratic candidates running for president. So let's talk a little bit. First of all about what happened in Chicago. I mean, I African American woman I know that you were supporting Lori Lightfoot opponent Toni preckwinkle who's, you know, for her teacher, and she's very big in the Democratic Party there. But what do you think of Laurie life? I think she's terrific. She is a strong candidate. I know she's committed to Chicago. She loves our city did support Toni preckwinkle I've known Tony for thirty years. She was my alderman back when she was an alderman, and I've been very impressed with the work. She's done at the county board. And so the good news is we have the chairman of the Cook County board, and we have the mayor of the city Chicago who I know we're going to work together and move the city forward have you ever given any thought to running for mayor sky have given thought to it in years gone by and now, I'm really? Interested in helping other people run for office and delighted to see not just in Chicago. But around the country, so many women who are jumping in and being willing to put themselves in the Rena and running for office. I think that's good for our city and for the country. And let's talk about that. I mean, so many women running for president by women five out of which you know, we're moving up there a little bit. What do you think of that huge field of Kratz? I think I call it an embarrassment of riches, and I'm delighted to see so many committed folks who want to serve our country, and who are willing to put themselves on the line and take their case directly to the American people. So I'm very enthusiastic about the field about Joe Biden. I mean, the things that have come out over the past couple of weeks like your thoughts on that. Because it's really I mean, that's Joe Biden. Well, and I think he got it. Right. When he said, it's a new day, and it's time for men to listen and that he intends to listen, I think modeling that kind of behavior is really important. My book is called finding my voice. And so I'm incur. Courage to see women beginning with the metoo movement where some very brave women we're willing to step forward. And and talk about what had happened to them, which was quite traumatic. And obviously there's a whole spectrum. But it's important that women know that their voices are going to be heard. And I thought that vice president Biden acknowledged that. And I was impressed that he did I have a theory that the metoo movement in the time's up movement wouldn't have happened. It maybe not at all. But certainly not as quickly without the election of Donald Trump. And by that, I say that things were percolating and maybe with the election of Hillary Clinton. It was well, we're okay, we'll be fine. And a lot of women after the election of Donald Trump said, no, no, no, no. It's my own personal theory. I, you know, and and, but that's I think that it sort of sort of bubbled over the top. And they said we're speaking up now, we're as a title of your book is finding my voice, I'm finding my voice, I'm saying something about it. Well, the day after the inauguration, we saw record crowds of women come out for the women's. Smart. And I think that the activism among women around the country has been tremendous over the last couple of years women running for congress record number of women who are elected to congress as well. And so I think I activism is great. I'm not sure exactly what triggered it. But if the election of Donald Trump, did then I think that's terrific. Because I I love to see the people who represent our country representing the great diversity of our country when you look at the Trump presidency. What are your thoughts? Well, it's profoundly disappointing to me. Obviously, I was a supporter of Hillary Clinton. I thought that she would continue to move our country forward in a positive direction. I thought that her message was similar to rock Obama's message. Which is that we are stronger when we recognize that being inclusive and finding what we have in common and not polarizing ourselves. And speaking in a way that our young people will look up to us and feel optimism about our future. And that's the vision for our country that I support, and that's actually not the one that I've seen over the last couple of years and looking forward if you were to guess two years from now where we would be I know that that's difficult, and we don't not in the guessing game. But, you know, going forward the Democrats message it has to be more than we're not Donald Trump because there's a lot of people across the country, including many, Illinois downstate, Illinois who who like Donald Trump. They like his month's style. They, you know, they don't like who you know, some of the things he does. But I I love what he's done for the. Economy, fill in the blanks. Well, this is what I've said to several of the candidates who are running for president is is that I think they are at their strongest when they're talking about what they stand for. But their track record is what their vision for America is what they're gonna do to help working families around our country. Not just get by but thrive, and if they have that optimistic clear message about their values and their vision and their track record. I think that resonates with the American people how difficult was it for you,.
