Senate Judiciary Committee to Vote to Subpoena Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey

"Now on the Mike Gallagher show Moments ago, the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Lindsey Graham, announced that they will vote to subpoena Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. After the social media giant blocked a story about allegations of corruption surrounding Joe Biden. Lindsey Graham told reporters moments ago we're going to proceed Tuesday. Now, a little history here. So you're aware of what's at stake and what's happening. Twitter blocked a New York Post story about emails that were allegedly discovered on a laptop that belonged to Joe Biden, son Hunter. Among other things. The report alleges that he shut up a meeting between Joe Biden and a senior official from the Ukrainian energy firm Barysheva after the story began circulating across social media, according to the Washington Examiner, Twitter and Facebook blocked others from posting the story. Twitter block posts that link to the story and then even locked The New York Post out of its own account. Facebook reduced the distribution of the story and said that the story would be fact checked by a third party. Twitter also suspended Trump's campaign Twitter feed. After it posted a video calling Joe Biden a liar who has been ripping off the country for years as it relates to the New York Post article. Twitter also blocked Judiciary Committee member Senator Ted Cruz from circulating The New York Post story. That's a bad move Twitter. Because Senator Cruz, a powerful Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Senator Cruz said. This is election interference and were 19 days out from an election. It has no precedent in the history of democracy, he said. The Senate Judiciary Committee wants to know what the hell is going on. Official statement from Senator Ted Cruz. And of

Amy Coney Barrett Closes Out Testimony

"2. Days of extensive questioning for the president's Supreme Court nominee have ended tonight. The Senate Judiciary Committee will meet again tomorrow. But testimony from Judge Amy Cockney Barrett is over. W t. O P is Mitchell Miller reports from Capitol Hill, Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy pressed the judge on the possible impact of a president refusing to comply with the Supreme Court ruling. Could that be a threat to our constitutional former covering the Supreme Court? Can't control whether or not the president obeys. Leahy then raised another pointed question. Does the president have an absolute right to pardon himself? So far as I know that question has never been litigated. That question has never risen. Republican Senator Ted Cruz says he's confident Barrett will be confirmed and added that Democrats tried to make the hearing more about President Trump than the judge. We've seen that our Democratic colleagues have very few questions actually to raise about Judge Barrett's qualifications

"Fine. If you actually believe the stuff now judge Barrett's credentials are straordinaria she graduated first in her class from Notre Dame law school she was a law clerk to Justice Antonin. Scalia one of the greatest justices ever to have lived on the court. She spent twenty years as a professor at Notre. Dame. One of the most respected federal appellate judges in the country. But I still remember well in the Senate Judiciary Committee. The confirmation hearing for her to become a federal appellate judge where we saw Democrat after Democrat target her. For her face Dick Durbin asked her if she was a quote Orthodox Catholic which I'm not quite sure what that's supposed to mean I guess as opposed to a heretic orthodox an odd modifier there but clearly, it was bad and the moment that really characterize the entire hearing was Senator Dianne Feinstein who said about judge Barrett's faith said the dogma lives loudly in this one. And Dogma was meant to be I. Think a code word if you actually believe your face. then. You're not fit to serve in public office or as a judge whether one is a Catholic or evangelical or perhaps and Orthodox Jew but whatever your faith. The view of today's Democrats is that is a disqualifier. I think we saw real religious bigotry and bias in judge. Barrett's first confirmation hearing and sadly I expect we will see more of that. In her second hearing. And I would note. The text of the Constitution. Explicitly prohibits a religious test for public office. So the framers of the constitution anticipated that you could have this kind of religious bigotry and they wrote into the constitution you can't have a religious test for whether someone should serve. They were right then and there right now you may have been there the day that. Camera. Harris actually ask a nominee to be a federal judge about his membership in the Knights of Columbus, which is a very large Catholic benevolent parody, and then she was sort of implying that by definition if you belong to the Knights of Columbus, you couldn't be acceptable is a federal judge. And it was remarkable. I do remember that well, and you're right that there were several Senate Democrats who took the position that if you had been involved in the knights of Columbus that was a disqualifying aspect, you think back to. JFK The Democratic Party there used to be people of faith that were welcomed that were embraced. There were pro life Democrats. There were Democrats who believed in strong national defense and what we're called Scoop Jackson Democrats. This is not your father's Democratic Party today's Democratic Party. Anyone who is conservative or moderate or anything other than far left is driven out. We're seeing them primary ing from the Socialists and radical left. Anyone who doesn't agree with them the head of the DNC the Democratic National Committee said, there is no place for anyone pro-life in the Democratic Party and I can imagine an awful lot of folks particularly up and down the Mid West Observant Catholics. who were John F. Kennedy Democrats who are being told get the hell out. Of Our party, I can tell you on the Republican side. We certainly welcome them with open arms and I. Think you're seeing a lot of people who had been FDR Democrats and JFK Democrats who are becoming Republicans because the Democratic Party has been so radicalized on so many issues. Ask You the big questions very, and right now, there's been a great deal of. I think mischaracterization. Of whether or not you can nominate and confirm a justice in an election year I know you're an expert mission you've studied. Could you just comment from about the whole history of? People being nominated to the Supreme Court and what made two thousand, sixteen different in two, thousand, and twenty. But in the context of actual precedent. I'm happy to and they're very different circumstances. First of all the question of what to do with a Supreme Court vacancy during a presidential election year. Is Not a new question. It turns out that it's come up frequently in the history of our country has come up a total of twenty nine times. So twenty nine times presidents have had vacancies during presidential election years on the Supreme, court And we know what presidents do presidents have nominated someone to fill that vacancy all twenty, nine times one, hundred percent of the time. So whether one is Democrat or Republican. It is absolutely clear that presidents when faced with a vacancy in a presidential election year put forth the nominee. Now what is the Senate do with it and again here the history and precedent is clear. Nineteen of those times the president and the Senate have been of the same party. Of those nineteen the Senate has confirmed seventeen of those justice. So. The precedent is if the president and senator of the same party. The nominee is confirmed. Assuming. They're qualified. On the other hand ten of those instances, the president and the Senate have been of a different party that happened in two thousand sixteen when Barack Obama nominated Merrick Garland and the Senate was in Republican control. Of those ten times when the President and Senate have been of different parties, the Senate has confirmed two of those nominees and so the overwhelming history and precedent is that the Senate generally does not confirm a nominee to the supreme court for a vacancy that happened in the presidential election year if they are of different parties and newt that distinction. Is Far more than just a partisan. Matter. The reason that that history and precedent makes sense especially now is that the kind of judge or justice that will be nominated or confirmed. has become a central issue in elections. It was a major issue between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as to the kinds of justices. They would confirm my new book one vote away the book opens. With the day in February of two, thousand, sixteen when Justice Scalia passed away. and. I was in South Carolina was actually with my debate team. We had a debate that evening the middle of the presidential primaries and we had the South Carolina debate that eating. And I got a phone call. From the sheriff in West Texas who had found as body, and this is before the news was public the sheriff called both me and call John Cornyn the other senator from Texas to let us know Justice Scalia, was dead. So we spent a couple of hours actually brainstorming about, okay. What are we going to do and I put out a statement within minutes of the news breaking publicly. I put out a statement then saying under no circumstances. Should the Senate take up any nominee? Instead. The American people should decide why because we had a Republican majority. In the Senate that the American people elected in twenty fourteen, they went on to reelect in two thousand sixteen and grow the Republican majority in two thousand eighteen. And we had promised the voters. That, we would stop liberal judicial activists from going to the bench and that we would fight to confirm principled constitutionalists. That's what Donald Trump. Promised to do it was the biggest reason I voted for trump over Hillary, Clinton because he promised to nominate justices and the mold of Scalia and Thomas. And it was a major reason he won and so when the president nominated. Judge Barrett. He was honoring his promise to the American people he was keeping his word. And when the Senate Republicans Confirm Judge Barrett. We're likewise honoring our promise to the voters and keeping our word. Thank God puts it in. The Right Framework Listen I WANNA. Political battle ensues over RBG replacement

"As the country continues to mourn Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. There's a political battle brewing over when and how her replacement should be chosen. Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar was asked on CNN's state of the union if Democrats have the ability to block a vote to fill her seat. Whatever Mitch McConnell does right now, my Republican colleagues Understand that the voters are voting, and a number of them have already said that the next president, whoever wins should be able to pick the justice Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz explains to ABC is this week why it's important to hold hearings before the election. Unequally divided Court for four can't decide anything that could make this presidential election drag on weeks and months and well into next year. That is an intolerable situation for the country. We need a full court. On Election Day. A second Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, has joined Senator Susan Collins of Maine in opposing efforts to fill Ginsberg seat before the next president is elected President. Trump says he intends to nominate a woman to re plate Ginsberg, possibly this week. Former vice president Joe Biden spoke about the Supreme Court vacancy. During the speech in Philadelphia. Today, he blasted President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for moving within an hour of Justice Ginsburg Ginsberg's death To announce it would nominate and vote on a replacement against her dying wish is this appointment isn't about the past. It's about the future and the people of this nation. The people of this nation are choosing their future right now is they vote? Jam this nomination through the Senate. Just exercise in raw political power. I don't believe the people of this nation will stand for.

"President Trump has issued another list of potential Supreme Court nominees, his fourth since his 2016 presidential campaign. But as NPR's Nina Totenberg reports, this list is a bit different. Today's list of 20 is avowedly more political. While the previous three lists included just one elected politician. Today's includes three senators all fire breathing conservative Republicans. Missouri's Josh Holly, Arkansas's Tom Cotton and Texas Senator Ted Cruz. All have been highly critical of Chief Justice John Roberts for not being conservative enough. Also on the list are to current or former Trump Administration Justice Department officials who have been carrying Trump's legal banner in the courts. And Paul Clement, who served as solicitor general in the George W. Bush administration and is considered perhaps the best legal advocate among the very able lawyers who practice regularly before the Supreme Court.

Republican Jewish Coalition official makes the Jewish case for the Republican party

"As the Republican National Convention dominated the news this week I sat down with Matt Brooks the Executive Director of the Republican Jewish coalition to hear him make the Jewish case for the Republican. Party. Just a reminder AJC is a five. Oh, one C. Three, not for profit organization that neither endorses nor opposes candidates for Elective Office Matt. Thank you so much for joining US Saffy. It's great to be with you. Thanks for having me AJC held a series of virtual programs last week at the Democratic National Convention and we're doing the same this week alongside the RNC you spoke at. An Age RNC program yesterday and you guaranteed the Donald Trump will win a larger percentage of Jewish vote in two thousand twenty than he did in two thousand sixteen. What makes you so confident of that first of all, my understanding of the politics of the Jewish community I've been doing this job for thirty years. So I think I have a very good feel for the Jewish community. But then the most important reason is to look at the record of this president There is no question that he has been without a doubt, the most pro Israel president ever in history. That's not coming just from Matt Brooks, but it's coming from people like the prime, minister of Israel has said as much in the Oval Office in meeting with them. So there's a reason why fifty six percent of the Israelis who were polled in a recent poll would like to see president trump reelected and only sixteen percent. WanNa see Joe Biden reelected because they understand that this president is absolutely transformed the US's relationship beyond that Steph. Touch on domestic issues I think people in the Jewish community are deeply concerned about what's happening in our big cities whether it's Portland Seattle New, York, the lawlessness, the rioting, the efforts by the left wing progressives in the Democratic Party who want to defend the police. I. Think People in the Jewish community understand that president trump giving his incredible track record. Pre covid is the best person to revitalize our economy postcode and also recreate and bring back all the jobs that were lost as a result of this pandemic. So I think there's a wide range. Of issues that both foreign and domestic that to me give me great confidence to have my back moment point into the stands and guarantee that this president will do better among Jewish voters and twenty twenty than he did in two thousand sixteen was the Yankee Fan I. Appreciate any reference to Babe Ruth let me just follow up on that though you pivoted and spoke about domestic issues at the end, which obviously are very important. You started out with Israel though I'm curious does the RJ see any kind of polling or anything like that indicates that the? Percentage of American Jews do vote based on. Israel. My sense is generally not at top issue for American Jews. So we do have extensive polling and we're very data driven in our messaging and how we look at the races you know, I think your point is well taken but you know elections and campaigns about mosaics. It's about putting pieces of the puzzle together. It's not just one issue. There is definitely a segment of the Jewish community that does care about Israel we're going to appeal to them. There's definitely a segment of the Jewish community that appealed issues. Like school choice we're going to appeal to them. There's definitely segments of the Jewish community the care about the issue of defunding the police and having law and order in our streets in protecting us against anti-semitism. So we're GONNA have various messages targeted to various constituencies within the Jewish community. Our community as you well know is not monolithic. So to say that there is one issue that's gonNA drive the Jewish vote would be a mistake but I think we have enough experience and expertise in this arena to make sure that we're serving up the right messages. One issue that you just mentioned Matt is is Antisemitism Joe. Biden actually laid the cornerstone of his campaign on President Trump's comments after the unite the right rally in Charlottesville in his video announcing his candidacy, and then again last week when he accepted the nomination, vice president. Biden cited the president's very fine people on both sides comment at which he saw as excusing anti Semitism he cited those comments as motivating him to get into the race to beat the president. How would you want Jewish voters to think about those comments? Well, I, mean, that's going to be part of our task and we've had several events both with Nikki Haley Mark Levin with Senator Ted Cruz just this last Sunday night you know in which we've talked about that there is a mythology that has taken hold by the Democrats to try and create a false narrative that the president Or somehow tried to give support to white nationalist. If anybody takes a step back reads the entire transcript and admittedly I wish he had been clearer and less awkward in his original remarks when we put out a statement to that effect. But if you read a few sentences before and a few sentences after very fine people on both sides, it's very clear that the president strongly condemns White Nationalist Neo Nazis, and you know it is absolutely unambiguous also to some of his other speeches in actions you go back and look right after the tree of life synagogue tragedy he gave a speech that day to the future farmers of America No. President no president go back and take a look at the record, and you'll agree if you read the opening speech, no president has ever condemned anti-semitism and planted a flag about us and our strong commitment to fight anti-semitism wherever it raises its ugly head, and then obviously you look at what the president did it on his executive order to help protect students on college campuses who have been the victims of anti-semitism and I will tell you time and time. Again, this president has by action demonstrated his commitment, not only to condemn white. Nationalist Neo. Nazis. But also to stand up and take strong stands against the rising antisemitism in this country.

"Aunt. Sonia from up to DC. And I interviewed her. Because my Tia Sonya what was imprisoned and she was tortured by Castro's goons she was there when the revolution happened. She thought the Counter Revolution Against Castro. She saw the misery and poverty. And so the podcast. It's become one of our most downloaded podcast because it's a chance to to really listen to a firsthand story. And what Bernie is saying of of Cuba as the Socialist. Paradise is just utterly false. As anyone who's lived through it could tell you unless you like. Those cars are pretty cold. fifty-six Four or but. So what did you say? Did you say you'd rather have the president faced Bernie or you'd rather have a face. President vice-president by burning scares me and the reason Bernie scares me. I know a lot of Republicans that are that are celebrating. Every time Bernie wins. Let us run against Bernie. He so extreme that that that trump gets reelected the thing that scares me about about Bernie's we're divided country. There is a chance. This country could elect a wild eyed socialist. And you want to see something that we do devastation to our economy to people's lives that worries me a great deal. I'd rather not even roll the dice so personally. I'd rather biden because he's at least in terms of the overton window. He's at least slightly closer to rational. He's still very liberal. I mean I mean what qualifies as moderate in. Today's Democratic field is it has moved dramatically. That's only right there. That's exactly right. All right Anyway Santa Cruz. Thank you listen to a Tom Cruise. That might have cost millennials. A lot of money its most regular users. It's a mess. Welcome back I'm Katie Kramer. And you're listening to squawk three two one. Good Morning Welcome X. Box right here on CNBC. I'm Andrew Ross. Sorkin along with becky quick and Joe Kernan our guest host this morning contributor throughout Steffi of Douglas Lane trading robinhood suffered a second outage yesterday. That apple is down throughout Monday. Leaving users unable to take advantage of the largest ever point gain in the Dow and was fully operational by noon yesterday as stocks fell after the Fed surprise rate cut reports. Say THAT THE TRADING APP. Now faces regulator scrutiny. Joining us right now for a look at how this will impact Robin Hoods reputation. Is Dan primack? He is business editor at Axios and Dan. Robin Hood has been the darling for a long long time. They set the standard of zero cost trades. Now you see this happen. What does this tell you well? It's a disaster. Obviously for Robin Hood and particularly kind of for its high volume users. Now remember lots and lots of robinhood users didn't really experienced an outage but they probably didn't notice right because they weren't necessarily trading over the last two days before its most regular users. It's a mess and the thing about Robin Hood is while it's got a really clean interface and people loved that there's a cash management feature a big piece of it. That zero dollar trades everybody else's followed suit on that starting last fall so that's no longer really differentiator for them. So if you're somebody who feels you got screwed over you can go to another service and get the same benefits that you used to only be able to get from Robin Hood. What what was the problem too much. Trading activity who were the systems? Just not ready for it We don't exactly know They provide the they originally said. Oh our systems. We're having problems communicating with each other. They then took about twenty four hours to come out with a statement apology but a statement last night. Yeah which says basically they're DNS didn't work. They got overloaded by too much activity. there's a bunch of engineers on twitter who are questioning pieces of that. Don't quite understand it. There's going to have to be a serious audit of this. A third party audit to figure out what really happened. Do you see kind of moving now. Toward the Schwab's Fidelity's I mean we saw Schwab is buying td Traded is now going to be part of Morgan Stanley. All this was caused with zero trading days a year from now do you think Robinson's still exist because individual investments can do all this themselves. Well I think it will still exist. I think one of the questions is is someone GonNa Buy Robin Hood and if if somebody was thinking about it particularly when Morgan Stanley announced a trade deal a lot of people jump and said Oh. Someone's now going to try at least to buy robinhood. Why wouldn't you? It's very popular. You know one of the things about Robin Hood is even after. Everyone went to the zero trades. Last October Robin Hoods user. Base grew in fact it grew faster in Q. Four then it grew in Q. Three grew faster. I am told in January and February. Then it didn't Q. Four so it was still expanding. Robin Hood was wonderful acquisition. Target for somebody else. Who wants to rival with Morgan? Stanley did what happened over the last two days though clearly but that question. And what do you think regulators are going to do? Well I think they're going to look you know it's interesting There is a law on the books here. The Congress could actually theoretically take a look at this although it's supposed to be based more on bigger systemic issues for example like the flash crash what happened robinhood affected robinhood users. It didn't affect the markets as a whole but look regulators are going to have to take a look at this and as I said there is going to have to be a serious audit. What Robin Hood has said? So far just doesn't cut it. How many customers do they have? I honestly don't know the exact answer except to say a lot and definitely skews younger. They are they are known as a millennial focused company so you think they still would be an acquisition target just at a lower price. I think so and look. Obviously we'd be talking longer term. Anybody and I don't have any information that somebody was in talks to buy them tomorrow but anybody who was clearly is going to understand what happened and why the outage happen but yeah they could definitely still be an acquisition target. There's still a very popular company. They still run a lot of trades. There is though probably a new litigation risk. Now I mean you have to be able to prove. I don't know how you would prove that you were going to make trades but if you were Robin Hood user if your money was sitting inside a Robin Hood and you didn't get to play on the biggest gain points day ever for the Dow you've got to think there's GonNa be a class. I think anybody not tried to log in day. Who couldn't actually has what you don't even have to do. But if you were trying to log in on that day I think you have a claim by the way just to answer your question? It's a little over ten million users right now substantial. What's worse than not being able to get in that day or what's down to try and back in eighty seven New Orleans picking up the phones. We'll look I mean Robert Robert Unfortunately I mean it it. It came back online after a couple of trading hours yesterday in theory. Maybe you could. Have you know if you couldn't get in on the upside? You also couldn't get in on the downside but you missed on both say you've missed the whole turn up and down Dan. Thanks good to see you. Thanks for listening. Squawk box is hosted by Joe. "Policy tax policy. I know that I actually believe that. One of the reasons why stocks are up today is not just as a reaction to yesterday's market conditions. I think that investors are looking at the possibility now of Joe Biden winning the nomination. And he's going to be very good for stocks by is more centrist. He understands Wall Street better than Sanders. And he's less likely quite frankly to put forward confiscatory economic policy investors want by and they don't want sanders. I just think I don't know if I describe as much to the debates as to the you know in a philosophical sense some of the stuff Bernie says is good but when when en masse the democratic population suddenly sees the real possibility on the predicted markets at sixty five percent that it's GonNa be Bernie Sanders and it starts actually becoming the reality. I think that's what they saw last week. And it's like if you're not if you're over thirty five or thirty. At least that is a horrifying prospect. I mean someone like me. It's a it's a it's just unthinkable and I don't know why you nominate someone who can't win in the general election. I think a lot of Democrats finally realized we're going to nominate a guy who is going to be McGovern from from day one he's going to be McGovern so it had nothing to do with the debate like we came back. They came back and decided the joe out of all the other candidates. That Vice President Biden is the best one for lack of of of an alternative Bloomberg. A billionaire I was GONNA ask you frank. I can't remember exactly what I thought. You were kind of positive about Bloomberg. What is your most in the last ten appearances on Squawk box? What's the most prescient point that you gave us over the last ten where you are absolutely right about that? Democrats and I've said this again and again. Democrats will not vote for billionaires. They did not vote toddstarnes. I thought you said don't underestimate him. Money can go a long way not advertising. You have to perform well and debates and my Bloomberg performed horribly and he agitated people focus of building their hold on this focus groups that we've been doing these are Democratic voters not pundits those focus groups for showing us that people will lead leaving. Mike Bloomberg in droves for Joe Biden. They've found Biden particularly over the last week. South Carolina debate performance performance speech. He gave in South Carolina. We saw last night. Joe Biden is hitting his stride. This was not the same Joe Biden that began the debates six seven months ago but he is just as likely to have the same type of gaps that he's had over in terms of public speaking gaffes. That's not going away right well. That's that's why I'm telling viewers to watch the debate in Arizona. I think it's going to matter. Tremendously and Biden is is gaffe prone but at his best. He is a very strong candidate. He delivers a very powerful passionate speech. And in looking at the polling data looking at the voter response Biden is on his way up and Sanders might. Well have hit his peak. Frank really really quickly What does this say about? Not just Michael Bloomberg but the idea of spending lots of money. I'm thinking of Tom. Style and everybody else is there. Is there a walkaway lesson from this? That this is not going to happen again. They may still try. Republicans donate money. Republicans donate Billionaires Democrats. Do and the fact is if you're wealthy unsuccessful. The Democrats are not going to vote for you. It's just a fact highlight the media's performance Let's see we went from maybe warn to Kamla Harris to Mayor Pete. Then clothes are had a short little time in the Senate. They couldn't hit if fell out of a boat. They couldn't hit water franken terms of what was going to happen here. They mix up what they want as as completely compromise media saying they're non biased. They go from from what's actually going to happen. They have no idea what this may be the first time in the six months. I've been doing this show that you and I agree. The worst pundits. I'm glad we haven't agreed at one point over the last six months. I want you to tell us what it was because I put my money on a bunch of different things based on what you said and none of it ever came true right. I told you billionaires. We're not going to win. Democratic primary. We agreed then too so we were actually in agreement on that one. I think you grow that. We grew that beard so people would remember you at the same guy and six months ago. Tough-guy thank you frank a stock to watch today Campbell Soup. Shares are rising Right now after earning sales beat the street and the company raised its full year profit outlook in a bet. You lots of people you go to the shelves in the supermarket and Souso anything can right about now. They were trying to get away from soup and get into all sorts of fresh fresh foods and things but Designer soup to soup is a soup is good. She can noodle for if you're not feeling great. Well that's a separate. Oprah CEO's of major airlines are scheduled to huddle this morning at the White House to talk about the corona virus crisis as the disease spreads airlines are starting to feel a bigger and bigger revenue head. Philippine joins US right now. He's got more on that story. I felt hey becky. This is the corona virus Gut Punch to the revenue stream for the airlines. How much will the airlines be? Hurting as the cancellations mount. Well it depends on how accurately we get this data and the most recent data from a couple of weeks ago from the International Air Transport Association. Known as I- ATTA. They said that global traffic would drop four point seven percent in twenty twenty and it would cost the airlines about twenty nine point. Three billion dollars in lost revenue. But if you take a look the airline index keep in mind that that estimate for my Atta. That was two weeks ago. And we've seen the cancellations pickup since then this is why analysts are saying for the airlines. It's all about managing cash flow right now as you take a look at the four largest. Us Carriers Delta American united and southwest over the last month American basically since February Twelfth. The stock has lost forty two percent of its value. The CEOS of those companies will be here at the White House today. They're supposed to meet with at least vice president. Mike Pence we could see them also meet with the president if he decides to join that meeting but guys at the end of the day. I'm not sure what the White House can say to. The short of. We'll do something to help you out financially. Which I don't think is going to happen because if you help out the airlines do you also help out the hotel industry. Do you help out other industries that are suffering because people are simply canceling their trips. Right now they're just going to have to work their way through basically the fact that they've got too much supply and the seats are just not being filled on these planes to the degree that they expected just a few weeks ago. I guess what's unique about the airline industry is they collect fees upfront for the tickets that you're selling you so In a certain sense it's kind of like the float that the insurance industry is to an extent to an extent but you also have a lot of people who will say we'll pay the two hundred dollars to cancel the ticket now a lot of airlines and you heard from United yesterday that joined American and Alaska as well as jet blue in terms of cancelling change or the fees that goes with changing ticket or canceling a ticket but those are in certain areas in terms of tickets that are bought now between later in March. What's interesting here? Becky is that their costs. Don't drop they still have to. Let's say a you're you're leasing narrow body aircraft and it costs you three hundred thousand.

"Senator Ted Cruz is our guest Senator Bernie Sanders was on Fox News last night. Two point five five million. People watched why? Well, yeah, I imagine out of curiosity. I suspect most of those I suspect it was a combination of regular FOX viewers. And then also Bernie supporters, and listen there there are unfortunately, far too many gullible people in the world that that that that are in thrall by by the promises socialism. And and I suspect a lot of the folks turning on where we're hardcore Bernie supporters a few of them were regular, FOX viewers. So we're just curious to see what they'd say you're pulled in a lot of different directions, you working in a lot of different issues. You're traveling a lot there's some major issues before the Senate. What are you working on right now with your name on it? That is the most significant. Well, what I've been doing this week is I is actually I'm touring Texas. I'm back in Texas. This week said it's not in session and focusing in particular on the school choice legislation that I've introduced in the Senate, and it is it if passed it would be the most far reaching federal school choice legislation that's ever passed. It is operatives tax credit. So it's a federal tax credit that would give you a dollar for dollar credit on your taxes for making contributions to scholarship granting organizations in the state Senate is five billion a year or fifty billion dollars over ten years for federal tax credits for contributions to k through twelve education allowing parents to use the scholarships to go to public school or private school, appropriate schools or religious schools, and it is also five billion a year or fifty billion over ten years for contributions federal tax credits for for contributions to scholarship granting organizations focused on workforce training, technical training apprenticeships. So I spent the day traveling a construction site visiting a construction site meeting at at at Texas State technical college meeting with folks who are training to be welders work in robotics and working in cybersecurity. And those two together the potential impact. Act in terms of educating and training, the Texas workforce in the workforce, a cough across the country is enormous. The president was in Crosby few days ago, which of course in your state Crosby, Texas just outside of Houston. And he announced a couple of executive orders in line with that. How important is that? Well, I'm very glad the president was was back came to Texas. I had hoped to come with him. But actually at the same time he was down in Texas. I I was chairing a hearing in the Senate on big tech, and and their censorship of conservatives and their their their political bias. And so since I was chairing a hearing in Washington, I couldn't be here for the the events in Texas, but I was sorry to miss them. But but glad glad to say the president coming back, Texas, Senator Ted Cruz is our guest today after tax day, and this, of course, tax freedom day, as you know, all too. Well, you have proposed making the Trump tax cuts the tax cuts for working Americans making those permanent. So that they don't sunset why. Because it's the right thing to do. And and and you know, I'm reminded of right after we pass the tax cut. We look at the tax cut. It was passed in in late twenty seventeen. We've seen the economy. Take off we've seen over five million jobs created since the beginning of this administration, Texas is benefiting enormously, but under the Bill the individual tax sunset they end after ten years, and I remember just just a week or two after attack tax cut passed. Bernie Sanders was on one of the Sunday shows. And he and and all the Democrats voted no voted against cutting our taxes, and and and Jake tapper asked him said, well, why why did you vote? No. And he said, well, the problem is the individual tax cuts sunset they end. Because tapper quite rightly asked Bernie said said said look this tax cut cuts taxes on on working men and women on Americans all over the country isn't cutting taxes on middle class Americans. Isn't that a good thing? And Bernie says, of course, the problem is they're not permanent. Well, I heard that. And I immediately. Retweeted that clip Senate out and said, Bernie, I agree with you. Join with me, let's join together let's make the individual tax cuts permanent. Let's make the small business tax cuts permanent. And and and I think we ought to bring it up and vote on it Republicans would support it and Democrats it'd be very interesting because their rhetoric they claim they wanna make individual tax cuts permanent. But I'm willing to bet Bernie and the rest of his party would vote. No. But, but it would it would provide real clarity as to where they stand. I'm for cutting taxes on hardworking, Texas, the two thousand seventeen tax cuts there in December just before the end of the year. President Trump's the end of his first year in office benefited sixty six percent of all Americans by reducing the amount. They had to pay Americans. It was broad. It was the it it cut into all layers of our economy all seven tax brackets. And yet I read today that of sixty six million Americans are sixty six percent of Americans benefited direct. From that only twenty percent realized they received a tax cut change that. Well, the Democrats are very good at demagoguery and and the media parrots their attacks. And and so it's it's amazing. How many how many Democrats just said things that aren't true? If you look at the results, we cut taxes across the board. And and so I if you're a taxpayer in Texas other than for a handful of the super wealthy just about every taxpayer in Texas had their taxes cut and cut significantly by this tax cut. Not only that though the effect of the tax cut along with repealing job killing regulations. We're seeing an economic boom as I mentioned five million new jobs in the last two and a half years that that is a lot of new jobs. We're seeing in Texas and across the country. We're seeing wages going up the number one state for wage increases is the great state of Texas. And and I'll give you my favorite stat last two years which. Is in the last two years over five million people have come off of food stamps. And and Michael the powerful thing about that. That's not just a number on a pie chart, those our lives being transformed. Those are people who two and a half years ago were dependent on the federal government for their basic food needs. Who now presumably they've gotten a job. They're out working. They're coming home each night. They've got a bag of groceries in their arms. They're setting it on the kitchen table. These are moms and dads were looking at looking their kids in the eyes and who had the dignity of work have the self perspective saying I'm providing for my family that is power on. You know, what those folks are benefiting from the tax cut. Also, even if they don't know it because the economic environment, the growth of small businesses and jobs is a big part of what the naval them to come off food stamps and get those jobs and have that dignity of work. Senator Ted Cruz is our guest we're going to go to break and forty five seconds. I'm gonna record with you during the break. So we can keep you on a play that in the next segment in those forty seconds named to places when you come back to Houston that you have to eat you gotta get your fix. No matter what time of day. Well, you know, when we go out a lot Escalante is a place, we go out to quite a bit shoe as a place we go out. We do a lot of back, and then actually my girls they like sushi. So we we do sushi some to all the although my dad thinks sushi is bate as do I have a favorite. I we kind of go to Colorado, which that they they do they do awfully good sushi. And actually, my my daughter Carolina's decided she likes sage four hundred. So we've been going there lately. Right. Okay. Senator Ted Cruz, our guest, I ten. The Michael berry show continues. "And I don't think the president really wanted to back himself into this corner on this one because he was willing to sign the legislation that was proposed right before this shutdown took place. He was willing to sign the house passed Senate passed went onto him. And then without the wall funding, and then and this was before Nancy Pelosi took over and the Democrats took over in the house. This is back when Republicans think about this for a second the president rejected legislation that came to his desk that passed the Republican House and the Republican Senate, and he said no to. And he said, no because of great outcry from people who host TV talk shows and radio talk shows and write opinion columns, and he was seeing how this was all playing out in realize he's about to lose great support. He didn't want this at this point. He was willing to go along with it and fight another day. And because ultimately, I don't know that the president has really hard firm beliefs on just about anything. I genuinely don't like did you see him? Whereas he was speaking at the border earlier, and he made references to Senator Ted Cruz and how they're great friends now. And you go back to the campaign and even to an extent Hillary Clinton. You know, once he won that all of a sudden his tone went from leading chance of lock her up locker up. Now, we just said that during the campaign. He just says what he needs to say in order to get what it is that he wants. And at the time he said horrible things about Ted Cruz because he wanted the presidency. Now that's over. And then he's done. Now, if Ted Cruz decided to challenge him in two years for the Republican nomination, then all of a sudden, it's right back out with that Lyon. Ted Cruz thing all over again. And I think the same thing applies to this wall. He found the line that matter to people that resonated with people who were coming out to his campaign rallies and stuck with him. And we're willing to tolerate him. I don't know that he really bought into it. But it really is something that clearly identifies him because so often times when he talks he'll say something, and then he won't close the sentence. He'll bring up issue, and then like Mexico paying for the wall. Now his campaign. Clearly, put out a statement on how it is that Mexico is going to pay for the wall or was going to pay for the wall. Flat out details. Line-by-line all of that. How it was going to have the president himself. Never declaring it that way that way he never really commits himself to anything. He allows you to draw the conclusions that you wanna draw and for those that are fans of him. Then he saying all the right things for those that are that don't like him. View him as a strong, political adversary put it lightly. Then they draw their own conclusions and the president's content with that. After the same thing comes to this idea of the wall. And.

"Senator Ted Cruz is our guest. We're doing great. We're going hard and fast, as as you know, last night, we did the fiftieth rally and last six weeks all across the state, and we did it a threat neck country club, you were there, and we had an incredible enthusiasm excitement, and it's all designed to turn people out today election day, and and and everyone listening. Please. Please, please. If you haven't voted come out and vote because we we are fighting for the state of Texas when my wife was secretary of state, she got to travel to places that she'd never been in the state, and she said, this is really an amazing state as you get out and about I've been watching the size of the crowds, the energy of the crowds far flung corners of this state. It has to be exhilarating to travel state this big and see these kind of crowds showing up for you and excited to send you to the United States Senate. Well, Texas is an incredible place, and it's one of the wheel blessings every day. I wake up. Ju ju just. Represent twenty eight million texts used to go fight for twenty eight million Texans. And when you travel, you know, the last six weeks, we've had a double decker bus that that that that that has traveled all over state. We've been in east, Texas, we've been west Texas. We've been in the panhandle within the valley and every community is different. The diversity across the state is amazing. But but there's also commonality we all value and cherish freedom. There is a rugged frontier. Independence to Texas that that is unlike any other state, and it's incredible. When you get to see it firsthand, and I'll tell you Mike will the excitement which were saying, you know, we were down in the valley. Two thousand people come out in Harlingen two thousand people come out mission that same day we're over in Laredo. We had over thousand people come out Laredo all across the state people want to defend freedom. And and was thrilled for the economic boom. We're seeing Texas is booming jobs are blooming, and we want to keep that going. I've talked to several of the pollsters in the state in some of the C folks, and some of the national folks in the last few days, and one of the things that keeps coming up is how well you are doing in border counties in the valley. And my my sense of that must be that the folks who are most affected negatively by illegal immigration by border migration, or the folks who were saying here's a guy who's serious about securing our border is that what's going on. You know, Michael, I think that's right. And and and I think the national media and Democrats like beta what they get wrong about how to win the Hispanic vote in Texas is is they think that the to get Hispanic in Texas the vote for you gotta go hard left. You gotta support open, borders, and amnesty and socialism all of which is what beta rox campaigning on. But but but that that's almost like you've never actually met a real Hispanic voter in state of Texas. Look the Hispanic community. Our community is conservative. We believe in fate family, patriotism, hard work, the American dream. And and you're exactly right that that is Hispanic communities that often see many of the most direct pump sequences of illegal immigration that that that that illegal immigrants that are coming off and move into neighborhoods that are predominantly Hispanic. That means they're taking jobs from US citizens from legal immigrants, and and and when they're when they're coming in when it's MS thirteen. Eighteen when it's gang that are coming in. It is often Hispanic community that seeing the consequences of the crime of the violence of the drug abuse that that comes from it. And and what most Texans one. Is commonsense. Secure the border, stop illegal immigration. And and and welcome those who come here legally. There's a right way to come to this country, which is to to stand in line and follow the rules and come here legally that that the overwhelming majority of Texans agreement that Senator Ted Cruz is our guest, even some of the president's biggest allies, and I know on Fox News they've had several panels on the subject have said, this is a booming economy. The president should be bragging about that. At the big rally. He did for you here. Downtown he noted that in getting tax cuts. You were at the point of the spear on that you've been a leader on that. 'cause do you think that more Texans should be recognizing? Yes. The borders important. But man, we're doing better unemployment rates at record lows economic growth at record has does it frustrate you that this shouldn't even be close considering how strong the economy's been in. How policies you've championed have? Put us there. Well, I do think the people of Texas. We are seeing real results we have one big big victories for the people of Texas in the last two years, and and none more important than what's happening in the economy. My number one priority is you know, Michael is jobs jobs jobs jobs because that's the top priority of Texas. We want more jobs higher wages. We want more opportunity and the way you get jobs is cutting taxes, simplifying the tax code and reducing job killing regulations. All of that gets government out of the way. And it lets the incredible small businesses owners and entrepreneurs in Texas do what they do best wishes create jobs. I worked hand in hand with the president with with my colleagues in congress. We passed the biggest tax cut agenda in a generation we repeal job killing regulations. And what's happening in Texas. In the economy is incredible. We're right now today producing thirty three percent more oil than we did just two years ago. We right now today have the lowest unemployment forty nine years. We've got the lowest African American unemployment that has ever been recorded. We've got the lowest Hispanic unemployment that has ever been recorded and Texans. We wanna keep the second omic boom going and the way to do. So is come out and vote today and vote for the policies of low taxes and lower regulations that keep jobs growing in Texas. Just saw in my show prep this morning. I was going to get to it after you. And I finished our chat department of energy says the August numbers shows the US is now the world's largest oil producer. That is a direct result of policies. Absolutely. And and for eight years of Obama, we saw federal government hammering oil and gas opposed to the energy industry. And by the way, that is one of the big big divides. In this Texas Senate race in the last six years, I have been deed leading champion of the energy industry of oil and gas of jobs in Texas, and the reason is simple because energy producers millions of jobs in Texas, directly or indirectly. And and if you care about jobs in Texas, you want energy, thriving and Baidoa Rourke has been a left wing progressive enemy of the energy industry. He has voted in favor of a ten dollar a barrel tax and every barrel of oil produced in Texas. He's voted repeatedly in favor of carbon taxes is voted in favor of aggressive federal regulation of fracking. He's voted in favor of aggressive federal regulation of Ellen g exports liquid natural gas exports every one of those policies would cost thousands upon thousands of jobs. Jobs across the state of Texas would be bad for Texas. And and so I if you work in in energy, you'd have to be out of your mind to vote for beta a rookie, and let me encourage you come out and vote today and bring your friends, but even if you don't work in energy, if you care about jobs, if you want the economy booming in Texas, come out and vote today and not only that pick up the phone. Call five your friends, we know the hard less extreme they're energized their mobilized, they're angry, they're showing up and so if you stay home, if your friends stay home, you are seeing the future of Texas in this country to the radical unhinged last, and you don't wanna do that Senator say right there, you can you hang with us for one more break. All right. We'll.

"Him. A lot. The president nights states talking to the press before you went out to his big Texas meeting yesterday too big rally eighteen thousand plus about five thousand outside the building just to get make sure that I don't know. Senator Ted Cruz state Senator Ted Cruz after all he's got a very charismatic opponent doesn't really have the set of values and beliefs in policy that's gonna reflect Texas, but it's in a real dogfight. Lieutenant Colonel Allen west does all about Texas. He picked up roots at a Florida and went there and wrote a book called Texas, hold the nation victory or death, which is now available, and you know, Colonel west has been in the arm. It was in the army for years, and he joins us again. Colonel welcome back. Good to be with. Brian. How are you? So for those people who think that it's going to go back to LBJ days and go democrat not so fast, right? Yeah. You're absolutely right. And really I mean, we're not talking about going to, you know, conservative Democrats are, you know, blue dog Democrats, you're talking about coin California type of progressive socialist democratic here, and you know, yesterday, I was the first early voting and I went to vote early afternoon yesterday. And there are crowds that are already out there. And what I am seeing. What you're hearing about is that you do have a lot of Republicans coming out the early voter, which is normally where the Democrats, you know, establish themselves and have a little bit more. But it's a turnout advantage. I don't think that's going to happen. So how do you characterize the way the president handles competition? You know, we have a sweaty Marco Rubio little Marco, you have a lion Ted crooked Hillary. But when it's over it's over and member was not endorsing President Trump. She was very critical of him. So how do you characterize his personality because I know? Oh, you have had to deal with a lot of commanders. You maybe not have agreed within your life. Well, you know, it's kind of like in the in the southeastern conference college football right now. You know, when you're playing against another SEC team, you root wholeheartedly against them. But when it comes bowl season, and it's about the conference and the conference standings against other teams you cheer for the SEC team. Even though they may be your bitter rival, and it's just the same as in the military. You may not personally get along with fellow commander. But when you're deployed into combat you gotta be there for that. That's L A commander because one purpose one goal. So I think what President Trump realizes that. He needs to have a strong members in the Senate. So he can continue on with this policy agenda. He's not going to be successful. He has someone like, you know, Robert Francis Rourke as a Senator from Texas who has already said that he would vote to impeach him. Yeah. Interesting here. He is target about a Rourke yesterday cut for. I heard Ted say just before I went on. But to me, this is a beauty 'cause I don't know of anybody that's earned this rating. He got an F from the NRA one of the few. You know what? An F means he wants to take away your guns. Okay. That's what I never even heard of it out. So.

I think Beddoe orcas highly overrated, there's the sound bite. That's the right way to go. Giancarl ABC coming back with another lion. Ted question. He's Texas, Texas dead. How he's Texas Ted now he's beautiful Ted. So forget about let's go to number four President Trump skipping over number three entirely talking about Ted Cruz at the big rally in Texas last night. Ted Cruz is my guy, and I'll tell you what nobody has helped me more with your tax cuts with your regulation. All of the things that we're doing military and vets then Senator Ted Cruz. Nobody. He defended. He defended your borders, and we are defending that border, by the way case you haven't noticed. We are defending. Now, these people are in Texas, of course, and they're on the front lines of the border invasion and people in the Upper West side of Manhattan, don't care very much. They just want, you know, Guatemalan to sleep on a dog bed down by the hot water heater and clean up when they're not around. That's how they think of on the Upper West side people coming across the border, and it is President Trump surprise the world last night by announcing a ten percent tax cut for the middle class. But apparently, no one in the administration, and no one in congress had heard about until he said it last night. Now good coming back to jobs are coming back to plants and factories coming back like never before. They're all coming back. This is for middle income people middle income people a big tax cut ten percent. We'll be putting it next. We'll be in the back next one. I think it was the next one. Everyone was taken by surprise. Apparently, the Washington Examiner of fine organization in Washington DC, Trump promises. Ten percent tax cut for middle class comma, catching allies off guard, President Trump called for a new major middle class tax cut on Monday, adding to comments made over the weekend. But backpedaled on the timing saying, they would come after the midterm elections. And this everyone in Washington said what there's a middle class tax cut coming. I think there is. Yes. Yes. There is there is a middle class tax cut coming and. You know, the president said it sometimes when the president said it, that's what it says it that's when everybody finds out about it. That's how that works. That's okay. With me. And you have big balances on your credit cards and a higher interest rate than you would like like a Jimmy Carter interest rate..

"So that energy, especially if you multiply it times the entire nation allows for Texas to essentially keep some of that political money here, which has been a real problem for Democrats. It's truly indicates that it's Texas has been like an ATM for the rest of the country. They've come to take the money and then has spread it to West Virginia in California never else well or works candidacy and his visibility has really allowed the money to stay here and be used to build the Democratic Party. But Abby ebbing Livingston on the other hand, Senator Ted Cruz. He's he's getting some support from the national GOP. I mean, the president himself is going to campaign for for the Senator that brings a energy and and money as well to to his campaign to an extent. I mean, Trump could do just as much to energize the democratic basis, the Republican base, but on the reverse. That resources coming to Texas to defend Ted Cruz extraordinary things. So there's a group called the club for growth that is spending for groups. And generally, I promise you, they would probably rather be spending somewhere else. They invest in house races and Senate races, and so this Texas is becoming a money pit for the Republican party. And I think there's a scenario where we could wake up the day after the election in a roar has lost several of these competitive US house races that have never been competitive before stay in the GOP column, and people in Texas may say will, well, that was a failure. But if you take a step back this, the to save these people resources have been diverted from other places and incumbents in those places could go down because of the money being spent in Texas. So Democrats could win in Texas by losing. Let's get a couple more callers in here. Dana is calling from curvier, Texas. You're on the air, Dana. By we bien. That's that's the extent of my Spanish. I'm afraid though. Me, I'm Caucasian, but was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. What do you want to share with us today? So I wanted to share. I'm kind of like down the middle differently. "Eight hundred five zero one seven zero eight zero caught up with Senator Ted Cruz, Republican the great state of Texas. He is in a reelection campaign right now, he's up against the guy. Robert francis. Aurore calling himself beta for some reason and they had their first debate last night. I talked to Ted on Thursday. However this before the debate and we cover the gamut of issues that are going on the race. It's happening in Texas is interesting one because it really is the culture personality versus a guy who's actually doing the job protections. We get into that in this interview as well. Ted. I always appreciate you. How are you my friend great to be with you? It's always an absolute pleasure. I just come out of the box. I I can't go here. We have to talk very quickly about the confirmation hearings that are going on in Washington. This this clown show that's going to kabuki theatre that's going on some thirty six year old allegation that of course, we should listen to. But, but this is obviously the tempt in my opinion to derail this this guy. Who's ultimately qualified this guy, you know, of and that, you know, and you feel like I do that. He's the right guy. Right. He is clearly qualified for the court. He has a strong record on the federal court of appeals the entire confirmation hearing, the Democrats were not able to go on love on them use use the phrase kabuki theatre that's much of what they did that they apparently coordinated with protesters tried to disrupt the hearing, but we're not able to raise any substantive criticisms of his judicial record that we have these allegations that that that the Democrats have had for months, and they did nothing with Dianne Feinstein. And then they loved him in at the last minute. It's clear that the Democrats are playing games with them. But but that being said pag the allegations on their face or serious, and I think they need to be treated with respect. And so I am glad that the judiciary committee. I urge my colleagues that we should give Dr Ford a full and fair opportunity to present her story to tell her story to the committee and the American people, and then we should give judge cabin on a full and fair opportunity to defend himself. And and and and and tell his story. By the way, I'm not indicting her more indicting Dianne Feinstein. How do you sit on this? If you took it seriously, or do you think that maybe she didn't take it seriously at first? You know, it's not clear why Feinstein and the democrat did nothing with it. They had it for months. Three days of hearings the judge cabin on them. They certainly could have asked about this. They did nothing. They just sat there. And at look, it's obvious from the Democrats perspective. They're interested just delay delay delay. They want to delay the vote until after the election. That's not going to happen that that's just partisan gamesmanship. But, but thankfully, the majority of the judiciary committee is doing the right thing, which is presenting a fair opportunity for Dr Ford to to to tell her story. And indeed the committee invited dot your Ford said she could testify in a public hearing, or if she prefers she could testify in a closed hearing without TV cameras, right? If that if she was more comfortable with that. So we gave her the choice at this point. At least she has not yet accepted. I hope that she does. I hope she comes next week. And and we can hear hear her story. And then here judge Kavanagh's defense. It is Senator Ted Cruz Republican the great state of Texas, Ted, as you know, you've got a great national footprint. That's why it's so important for my Nash. To here. But also, I've got fifteen radio stations in in Texas now and they're confused head. Quinnipiac says you're up by nine. Reuters says you're down by two what is the candidate? What if somebody like you a guy who's got the seat, and you're fighting to keep it? What do you think when you hear that stuff? Well, there have been polls all over the place up and down and all over the place at the end of the day. Several things are clear number one. We've got a real race in Texas. My opponent. Baidoa Rourke is running hard hard last reported open, borders and aggressive gun control and impeaching President Trump, and he's the number one democratic fundraiser in the country. He is outracing us three to one. He's outspending us three to one. And so that means this is this is a dangerous fight. I believe we're gonna win. But, but but it is because that we're saying commonsense conservatives across Texas getting energized rising up to defend our freedoms. And we're saying patriots across the country who are going to our website, Ted, Cruz dot ORG, Ted Cruz dot org. Ted Cruz dot org. They're ordering yard signed. They're contributing money. They're volunteering. They're speaking out. It's the grass roots. And and the common sense conservative principles of Texas that that will deliver the victory in November as any get his Ted Cruz dot org. It's Senator Ted Cruz Republican the great state of Texas essay watch these ads and listen to them that he's put out there teddy. They sent an awful lot to me like what the ads that. Obama ran never ever on policy never ever on what he's really gonna do. It's all a bunch of platitudes, and we in Texas can join together for everybody, and we unite in the unity, and they'll the diversity. He's not saying anything is that is that his tactic. Because if he says anything Texans will reject him. Well, it certainly appears to be and you're right. It is very much the strategy that Barack Obama took in two thousand eight hiding is radical policy views if you look at Baidoa rooks commercials. You look at what he says he doesn't get into substance. Now, if you look at the these glowing press profiles national reporters are in love with the idea of having an Elizabeth Warren type liberal represent Texas. Right. So so every two or three days, they write these just glowing profiles. That includes no substance. They're all rainbows and puppies. And they don't say a word about his radical views on immigration. Saying for example, he is quote open to abolishing ice abolishing, the immigration and customs enforcement is nuts. It's not supporting sanctuary city, which he does bigger Asli. They don't say anything that. He is the only Democratic Senate nominee in the country. The only one who is explicitly come out for impeaching President Trump. He has said he would vote. Yes. To impeach Donald Trump today right now, it is it's a Senator Ted Cruz Republican the great state of Texas. I ask you about this. And I don't know if you've seen this. But Breitbart posted a YouTube video of a black audience members standing up and asking Robert Francis. Beta Aurora a question and the question was about the fourteenth amendment. And it was about those who are here illegally coming here illegally, and whether or not he would give them amnesty and the the questioner said, I just need a yes or no. Are you here to say, you're going to get people who broke the law amnesty, and he wouldn't say, yes or no? But a Roxanne's it's in context. But I'll paraphrase was we need these workers to come here and pick cotton or work the cotton gin. It was very strange to say that first of all a black guy, which I don't know why he would go there. But but he said that Americans simply won't do the work. So we need people from Guatemala Honduras, and El Salvador, which your response to that. Well, I think some of the extreme rhetoric that were saying from Baidoa raucous campaign. I think that's not helpful. I think it's it's racially divisive. I think it inflames the divisions in our society. And and and I think he was trying to avoid answering the question there in that instance, that you described look he is unequivocally in support of amnesty. He has said repeatedly that those here illegally should be made citizens and made he made citizens right now today. He is so extreme on immigration. Not only does he oppose a wall. Here said that we should tear down the border walls and fences that we already had that we already have right now. He's so extreme on immigration that he is argued that crossing the border illegally should no longer be a crime that we should make it legal. That's the very definition of open borders, and and those views there's a reason he's raising tens of millions of dollars from liberals all over the country. Why Hollywood liberals like Ellen Degeneres and Stephen Colbert cooing all over it. But that's not Texas. No, it's granting amnesty and citizenship to eat to eat legal aliens voting against cakewalk. Hey, you know, I'm the author of takes awhile Dettori minimum prison sentences for violent aggravated felony to enter the country illegally button voted. No. And and he is every day. Fighting against securing the border fighting for amnesty, and and and welfare for illegal aliens that that is not the common sense views of both Texans or most Americans Ted Cruz dot org. Go to his website at Senator Ted Cruz. Ted. I'll just make a quick state of the next the next question Bidault arose from El Paso, just needs to look at the crime rate in El Paso compared to the crime rate in in in Juarez, which is right across the bridge. And for him to say, he wants to tear down Andy Waller bridge or anything else is ridiculous knowing that he's from there having said that Fort Bliss is in El Paso. I know that you've got big news on that. I'm sitting a military city USA. You are pro military. You always have been what's happening in El Paso. Well, wait, we have good news, which which is that Fort Bliss has been chosen by the army as the home for a new armored brigade. That that is a big deal. That is gonna mean increase military construction funding for Fort Bliss. And and it it it's something that I engaged very directly John Cornyn. I together both made the case to the secretary of the army marquess for I know that fort Fort Bliss was the right place for this new armored brigade, and and the army just announced it we've been saying, you know, we're in the midst of the biggest rebuilding our military since Ronald Reagan and Texas in particular has been benefiting enormously both with Fort Bliss and this announcement, but also with last month. The army's announcement that the army futures command the four star command that is charged with modernizing. Our army is now being headquartered in Austin, Texas, again, I took a very active role making the case leading the fight for four Texas was there at the at the opening of the command that that is gonna mean in time tens of thousands of jobs right for the state of Texas and the future and and modernization of our fighting forces. "Are you voting for people because you actually agree with what it is? They're saying they'll do did interesting quandary, we examined that and much more. And also we examined a very tight race for US Senate the state of Texas with this Senator for the great state of Texas a Republican from from Houston. It is Senator Ted Cruz. How are you? I'm doing fantastic. Joe? How're you doing David? I'm living the dream where we're reflecting on. Obviously this being the anniversary of nine eleven two thousand one also the anniversary of nine eleven two thousand twelve we can't forget about Benghazi and the ridiculous lies that were told then reflecting on what happened seventeen years ago. Your thoughts today? September eleventh changed this country. Every one of us remembers where we were when that happened for me Heidi. And I we were both living in DC. We're both serving in the George W Bush administration. Heidi was working in the White House that day and when the planes when the first plane hit one of the twin towers, the secret service came through the White House. And and and told everyone stay where you are. I was at the time walking out of our apartment. We had an apartment in in northern Virginia right by the Pentagon, and Heidi called home and said, turn all the TV look what's happening. Then when the second plane watch we all watched in horror realizing that that, you know, the first plane a lot of us thought, it might have been some horrible accident, maybe the pilot at a heart attack. Right. But when the second plane hit we knew in an instant that this was an act of war, and and for Heidi the secret service began running running down the hallway with the White House saying get out now don't walk run. She ran out. She couldn't get her car. It was an underground parking garage. So she pulled off her high heels, and then she walked home barefoot across memorial bridge when the next plane hit the Pentagon, as I said, we were just about a mile away from the Pentagon, and you could smell the soot mash, and it was a moment that it was the worst attack on US soil since Pearl Harbor at it galvanize the nation at brought us together brought to resolve all then that resolve has resulted in some incredible victories, including toppling, the Taliban. Afghanistan and defeating and killing Osama bin Laden, and including the last two years utterly routing ISIS, and and and taking virtually every square inch of territory they had seized denying them their caliphate. And and and at the sobering reminder of of the radical Islamic terrorists who kill us. But but also, the incredible courage, and bravery and resolve of Americans, especially the soldiers and sailors, airmen, marines who risked everything defending this nation. And and and and fighting our enemies, it's Senator Ted Cruz Republican the great state of Texas. He's up for reelection in November, Ted if I would've told you in two thousand one that and it didn't take seventeen years. I mean, it probably happened in in ten years that we would hate the police some communities would we would we would hate our neighbors. We would be on social media absolutely hating each other that that people who call themselves democratic socialists would be winning primaries. Would you believe? That. You know, I don't think anyone would have been big in how bad it is. I don't think anyone would have envisioned the political correctness gone amok that that you would have. Avowed socialist as as as the mainstream of the Democratic Party that you would have Washington democrat like Vado Aurora campaigning thing he's open to abolishing ice to abolishing immigration and customs enforcement agency. Know, I don't think anyone imagined ninety two ten years ago years ago that we would be actively debate debating people protesting during the national anthem national anthem used to be something that brought us together gratified, whatever your politics, whatever your views, you know, in Texas. We stand up we stand for the national anthem. We put our hearts, go ahead over our heart. Or if you're in uniform you salute and that's something that ties us together. And it's this this better division that I think is really bad for the country. You know, where saying it in Texas, the state board of education tomorrow is voting on a recommendation from their advisory committee to delete the word her roic from the description of the defenders of the Alamo. That's just crazy that they a revisionist history that the that you've got those on the progressive far left that they're embarrassed being American. They're embarrassed to being Texans. If it's like this new movie about the alarm. Landing on the moon. We're Hollywood edited out planning the American flag. I mean, this should be bringing us together. And and and the radical left I think doing a lot of damages by by their assaults on on on who we are as a people and interestingly, the the actor in that movie said, well, it was a human thing. It wasn't an American thing. Of course, he's Canadian. So he probably doesn't know better. Chuck Yeager called him on the carpeting said, yeah, that's not the Neil Armstrong. I knew it Senator Ted Cruz, Ted Cruz dot org. Ted Cruz dot org. You've got a guy who's not bad looking in. Robert francis. Beta O'Rourke, he he's been called the Hispanic Bobby Kennedy, which I don't get he doesn't have a drop of Hispanic blood in him. But having said that the guy is running to abolish I so abolish the organization that stopped sex trafficking of little girls abolish organization that stops the smuggling of drugs in humans wants to abolish organization that stops the flow of weapons across the border. He also wants to impeach the president wants to take away your tax cut. Wants to raise the taxes on the on the guy that employs you how on earth is he within forty points of view. I don't get it. Well, what we're seeing right now, this is an unusual time in politics, the extreme left. They're angry. They're energized, their they're flooding the state of Texas with tens of billions of dollars, and you know, every time Baidoa work in braces, this far left position when he comes out for impeaching Donald Trump is he has and by the way, he's the only Democratic Senate nominee in the country to do that. Elizabeth Warren hasn't done that. Let that sink in. I'm sorry. Elizabeth Warren, he calls her polka hana's. She doesn't want to impeach him. Or doesn't say. So this guy has go ahead. Bernie Sanders hasn't called for impeaching. The president Nancy Pelosi has called for impeaching the president veto roar cast, and when he goes hard left. What happens is Hollywood liberals liberals all over the country flood, the state was cashier raises millions of dollars from that, you know, as you know, he and I had been having a big dispute over his strong support for the NFL. Protestors protestors who are taking a knee and refusing to stand during the national anthem. I, you know, I gotta tell you. I think that's disrespectful that's disrespectful to our servicemen and women to the to the heroes who fought for this country. And and listen, of course, everyone has a first amendment right out and say what you believe, but you can do it in a way that isn't disrespectful to the flag into the anthem, and and and to our veterans, and and when he did that. Pack. He once again, raise millions and millions of dollars. So his campaign is out raising three to one because national liberals are angry. And and everyone in Texas should understand that is very dangerous. Now, the good news is in Texas. They're still a lot more a lot more conservatives than liberals. But we gotta make sure commonsense. Conservative show after vote they have to go and vote. It's it's Senator Ted Cruz Republican the great state of Texas. He is the office holder now and has done every single thing. He promised to me when he ran the first time that he would do and not promise me as joepags me Texan, and we've got fifteen radio stations now in Texas, and they need to hear the message that he might look good. You look good too. I'm not taking that away from you. But you might be the shiny new thing that Ellen likes or something. But the man's politics are far left wing progressive. Nothing more nothing less. The he tells me if I got. Right. The other day. He was actually speaking on behalf of political action committee getting the help of political action committee saying he was rejecting political action committees. Am I getting that right? You are right. And he's done that more than once he likes to hold himself out as rejecting packs, and and yet he penned a DC fundraiser for a big pack there. You know, he's got another pack called, the Jay street pack, which is a virulent anti Israel packages. It's one of the most notorious anti Israel packs. They've they've raised over one hundred eighty thousand dollars for him because beta Aurore caz, the most anti Israel record of any member any democratic nominee for Senate. And let me give you the facts behind it because it's important. It's talking about substance. And and not just what the media profile talk about. Which is how much they love his hair. And and and and his his big, right? In twenty fourteen HAMAs raining rockets down on Israel, right? Beethoven Rourke was one of eight only eight members of the house of representatives to vote against funding. Israel's iron dome missile defense system, virtually every Republican voted. Yes. Virtually every democrat voted, yes. Nancy Pelosi voted. Yes. Maxine Waters voted. Yes. They voted out. He wouldn't stand with Israel. So, of course, the big gay street pack there enthusiastically supporting him while beta campaign saying he's against all packs. I if. It's something we've gotten used to saying our last Liberal Democrats where where their language back home doesn't match their conduct in Washington. And at the same time. He also at the same time. It was a few years later last year. He said no to the hurricane Harvey relief. What was the excuse given for that? How does it Texan ever say note about I don't get it? Well, you know, it really wasn't stunning thing. I mean Harvey with just over a year ago, it devastated, Texas, a devastated. My hometown of Houston, and I helped lead the effort for three major disaster relief bills that went through congress passed provided billions of dollars a relief, and I authored emergency tax relief for victims of the hurricane over five billion dollars in emergency tax relief that passed both houses of congress. President Trump signed the law only four Texas Democrats voted, no. So virtually all of the Democrats in Texas voted, right, but four voted no one of them was Dato Aurora. And it was a simple example of. His trying to please. Liberal activists nationally. Rather than focusing on Texas. It's the same as supporting the flag dealers. It's the same as impeaching the president. He's concerned with its Hollywood donors and the national liberals. And so the reason by the way, he voted no to tax relief for Harvey is that he wanted to hold that hostage for other programs. He wanted to expand the chip program he wanted to ban amnesty. And so he said he was going to vote no on tax relief for Harvey or totally unrelated programs. Most of the Texas Democrats said we're not gonna do that. We're actually going to stand with Texas. But but that's not what bad or Roxanne. We'll be items were all disconnected from the actual relief that was necessary to rebuild that town and other cities that were horribly affected by hurricane Harvey Senator Ted Cruz, Republican the great state of Texas ten last question. You guys were set to do a debate in Dallas. He ducked you on the debate. He just said that's not going to happen. Why haven't you guys debated yet? What's the problem? I've actually talked to beta O'Rourke. He's a nice enough guy. It seems. But it seems like he's trying to direct. Exactly how this is going to go and the voters don't want that the voters want to see you to mix it up a little bit. I think that's exactly right. As you know, I invited him to do five debates the most in US Senate history in Texas. The first one was supposed to be a couple of weeks ago. It was going to be hosted by NBC news and the Dallas Morning News. Not exactly right wing or definitely not accepted. I said yes, betas skipped and he refused to attend. And and I think what's happening is that I think his his political consultants and handlers are telling him the media's protecting your right now. They have you in this warm embrace of Coon where every profile talks about you talks about you in terms of puppy dogs and rainbows and doesn't mention anything about your radical voting record about you're talking about abolishing ice that you're wanting to impeach the president. And if you have a debate it's gonna become evident just how out of step your views are with the people of tech. Exactly, right. I think it exposes him. And he doesn't he's getting exposure. That he wants a needs. And he's gonna ruin that. If he actually has to answer to real topics and religious now, I do think we will end up having some debates. I think he's not gonna be able to run the whole time. But let me tell you final point just doing courage you on the last two weeks. I've done nineteen town halls all over the state of Texas. Great just about every single townhall people come up to me afterwards and say, I'm a democrat. I've always been a democrat. I'm with you now and Greg because the National Democratic Party getting so extreme when you had people like Baidoa Rourke saying impeach the president. Let's talk about abolishing ice their millions of moderate Democrats have conservative Democrats in Texas who are suddenly saying, they don't have a home in the National Democratic Party. That's just consumed with Donald Trump, right Senator Ted Cruz. We always appreciate the time. I actually spoke with them on September eleventh. And that's why the reference to to the commemoration of that anniversary. It's it's a tighter race in Texas that you would expect I look forward to them. Baiting. They did announce three debates yesterday one in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio. And we'll certainly stay on top of that race your thoughts. One eight hundred five zero one seventy eighty joepags dot com. Stay here..

"That that is not part of his investigation that has nothing to do with russian collusion i don't think anyone thinks that the russian secret service had recruited i almost said porrini daniels stormy daniels for their purposes this is a separate issue and muller apparently treated that way by making a referral to federal prosecutors in new york rather than having his own deputies investigating michael cohen's office michael cohen even though i believe michael cohen is married to a ukrainian national he seems to have very little to do with the chargers of collusion or coordination or even consultation with russian sources he's much more involved with trump's personal business meanwhile the the the the use of the issue of impeachment by republicans was fairly cleverly illustrated by senator ted cruz now ted cruz will almost surely cruise to reelection he deserves to win reelection i certainly strongly urge any listeners that we have in the state of texas to make sure you go out and vote for senator cruz for reelection because he is an important voice for conservative ideas and conservative principles he works hard and i think he's a much much more effective senator after the presidential race than he was before he's doing a good job and he deserves reelection and he's running against a a real favorite of liberal media beto rourke who basically has broken every fundraising record imaginable because people are so eager this point to knock off ted cruz and to strike at president trump but the in terms of raising money for his own campaign ted cruz did something very clever.
