And the fact that he's pretending like he's not going to take corporate. Donations is ridiculous. But moving. Moving aside or moving to the other part that i wanted to bring up you know. He angrily writes about how these corporations are speaking out against georgia's voter suppression law. And he believes that that qualifies as engaging in whoa culture. Don't to be clear. I do think that the democratic party has a problem with quote unquote woke movies. And get to that in a minute. And i want people to understand that. It's actually a very nuanced issue. That is hurting the democratic party when it comes to local elections when it comes to the federal elections and we'll discuss it but crews argues that had these watch me woke it up. Ceo's actually read the bill. Instead of parenting the radical left talking points. They have discovered. They have no idea what they were talking about. A clutch of businesses or business leaders tried to win woke twitter points and clown themselves instead now. Obviously none of this is true. Corporations after being pressured to speak out actually did say that the voter suppression law. Georgia is a problem and it is a problem.

Yes, on and it works. You know, it's worked for 2000 years. No to keep out the marauders, and they're terrible fashions. Did you ever have to? As you were growing up in this island? Serve in the castle to defend from marauders? Or does that only happened once you move to America? Yeah, It's funny, isn't it? A lot of people are like this is not America I'm like, but I've only ever seen this in America. But on. I should also say that, like the castle in Cole's now they just project the big Santa falls onto it at Christmas time. It's not the murder hole is no longer in use may well, not yet. Now we should say that the people who tried to overthrow democracy did not, at least for the moment when they did not stop the certification of Joe Biden's victory. There's the Senate reconvene later in the trash capital, and Mitch McConnell gave up heartfelt speech about democracy after which he had to give the heart back to the cadaver. He stole it from. "Senator Ted Cruz got his hair cut by the salon owner who was sent to jail and right afterwards we talked to somebody on the Michael berry's stations across the lane Joe pags dot com Facebook Twitter Instagram email it's all right there plus the live video feeds the Joe pags show glad to have you here we're going to have this guy and he's the former acting Attorney General Matt would occur Matt how are you I'm doing great how are you John it's a pleasure to have you on I'm doing great as well thanks a lot for taking the time to get a new book out it's called above the law the inside story of the justice department try to subvert president trump and then this is a great read this is what people have to go and check out right now to get the real scoop on what's been happening but let me start from when I first even knew who you were it was announced that you would be at the date that the acting Attorney General and immediately I was told what a piece of garbage your good selectivity Lee Twitter immediately Facebook immediately this guy is the worst man on planet earth I'm guessing you probably thought some of that would come but how does that hit you when you're a guy who's given his entire life you know to the to the the U. S. way of life to are a great America suddenly you're the worst guy on earth when when it's announced well that was that I didn't want to go back to that moment but it was noted that there was it was a tough couple days ago and I you know I I knew the mission of the department justice I've been chief of staff to general sessions for thirteen months ago I've previously been a U. S. attorney in the one I always you know and obviously I had done a lot of different things in the practice of law and I would say yeah I do have I've done whatever you do a law degree yeah but you know I really it was I knew that based on my experience in my relationships that I was the right person to do that for that period of time to bridge the gap between sessions and bark and so I just knew that you know fundamentally you know still saying sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me and I just said about doing the mission put my head down and grinding every day to restore the department of justice to where it should be in the American people's minds it's Matt would occur is book is called above the law the inside story of the justice department try to subvert president trump he's a former acting Attorney General what I liked is that you didn't take any garbage or your humans so it's going to bother you I get done emails every once in awhile the my show sucks but ninety nine percent think it's okay so you're going to get the naysayers this week you will always has heard the media always highlights those people but I love that you came out and you kept your nose to the grindstone you said here's the job and we're gonna fix this now did you realize before taking the job before being in that role that the so called deep state had become so politicized they were supposed to match they're supposed to be unbiased and really just do the job of the department of justice of discovering right from wrong and then exposing the wrong in highlighting the right to be did you realize it was so politicized I didn't and I was disappointed when I got there to realize the sort of the wearing a white hat and doing justice no matter what was sort of tried and gone out of the way side and and I I really you know talk about this in the book just wow the culture has changed really since the bush administration which I was US attorney and and then eight years of Obama clearly had because the complete you know sort of lowering of the standards as to how we did justice department justice and I just you know I point to the FBI did you know really the folks at the top whether it's Cormier McCabe Strzok page Baker others that you know sort of left the administration really in a in a shameful way and then you know pop up on MSNBC and CNN as commentators and and you know there I mean it's just it's it's just it's it's gross what they have left in their wake Jocelyn is you know a recent example of of what they did with the the power that they have but remember you know the FBI have Jim call me really was above the law if you think about the title and it's it's purposeful as they they did not think that the rules apply to them they used sophisticated techniques that they learned at every stage of government you look at Jim Comey's career U. S. attorney former A. USA is also deputy Attorney General and FBI director and he use all this knowledge and skills to you know to do these things the ultimately just left pain and destruction in its wake and it's you know it's bill Barr has a monumental task he's continuing to to clean it up and make a right I saw it while I was acting Attorney General the amount of work that was gonna take to restore honor and integrity former acting Attorney General Matt would occur the book is above the law the inside story of how the justice department try to support president trump people here that title and say that come on this conspiracy theory crap nobody really try to subvert him met they legitimately tried to subvert his presidency either stop him from from winning stop him from taking office or get rid of him once he was in office all those things are true right yeah I mean look at what he had to deal with when he first came in the office it was immediately a two year Russia investigation that found no evidence of collusion right which is a new pretty much in January of twenty sixteen of twenty seventeen and so you know it was two years of that and then immediately went into impeachment you know we conclude that and now obviously he's dealing with the pandemic situation and the criticism that everybody seems to be hurtling down seven this president has accomplished so much and when I was a DOJ we come up with so much good on behalf of the American people but it's but so much gets lost because the you know headlines or or or these hyperventilating headlines about Russian collusion and all these other things that have all turned out to be fundamentally false I mean if you think about the amount of time and money that was wasted on the Muller investigation it is it's appalling quite frankly yeah it's Matt would occur for acting Attorney General grace the other great United States of America the book is above the law the inside story of how the justice department try to subvert president trump the mother report was so incredibly bad he is giving his testimony about the report that he clearly had even read was it I feel bad for the guy a little bit but again I didn't because all the money that was spent on all this wasted time but when you saw that work were you surprised that that Robert Muller actually said we could not find a way we are not exonerating him but we couldn't find evidence to prove that it happened is that ever the way a prosecutor you know or or somebody gives testimony we what was at the standard yes we have to exonerate him in this or what is it to investigate the garbage that shift in the others we're bringing up and say well there's nothing here what he said they're gonna drive you nuts it did if you remember so I took over the Mona says I've been sort of as a with general sessions had been reduced from it evil just because of sessions refusal as chief of staff and I took over on November seventh and and and was not recused and and then was briefed and learn about it and you know and learns that what we found out later was that there was no evidence of collusion and they knew that they and and and you know my goal was as long as I did the job was to land the plane to get there you know to get the report writing you know so and get get the investigation over within behind us and I am after I left in February of of twenty nineteen I couldn't understand why they wouldn't get the report because I was you know all right said publicly that that the investigation was almost over and you know that we should expect the final report and it just took a discontinued it for weeks and I was really surprised based on what I knew that will come to find out I mean they're writing part two which was the non exoneration part of you know the alleged attempts to describe trucking justice which I just again I thought that was that was just outrageous and then they said our justice system works you you're you're innocent until they prove that you're guilty there's nothing about we could not find a way to exonerate him but there's not enough here to do anything else in the stupid question about what you charge if you were a private citizen well I can see that I wouldn't what the hell was he talking about Matt right I I I I know it it's it's really we gotta make sure this never happens to another president right Democrat or Republican and in any really the problem of the special counsel statute instance one of or the regulation of the OJ is one of the chapters in my book is how it's you know it's unconstitutional it takes it takes the presumption of innocence and the in the den the anonymity of an investigation and turns it on its head we we say who the target is and then we you know it's essentially an inquisition we try to find evidence to prove somebody is has committed a crime instead of instead of doing it the way we've always done at the department of justice is it in in a game was it was in full track you know kind of for all to see how awful that process was in a we just have to ensure that that never happens again and you know and and I look at the way bill bars conducting business you know we could have easily done and I continue to believe we could have done the Muller investigation with the DOJ personnel we could have done a U. S. attorney with that said the tried and true method is to you know sort of give a matter to a U. S. attorney this experience and have them run it to ground and we just didn't need to have Bob Muller and his team of whatever you know general all Democrats and an active Democrats right you know doing an inquisition against a duly elected president to try to unseat him I could agree more about the laws of the both the inside story of the justice department try to support president trump it's a must read go get it is written by this guy Matt would occur the former acting Attorney General United States of America when it comes to general Flynn you know Comey's out there saying all the DOJ this and you guys stayed the course because we need you in this is horrible how how out of line another step ideologies become James called me is in big trouble here in the reason I say that is because James Comey is the one that said it's not protocol but I told the guy we get Flynn anyway when you've got brand out there who's speaking too much I think you probably should be quite now but when it comes to general Flynn specifically we've got a note handwritten note that said Hey let's try to get him to lie we know that somebody the FBI chief Carter page's denotation as to who he was and who he was working for I mean are there gonna be heads rolling matter not because we're getting a little frustrated as an American people kept seeing good people like you wrote for the ringer single people like bar run through the ringer and of course general Flynn what he's been through is not will there be hell to pay for these people yeah the American people as you say I mean both you and I and others many many tax paying god fearing citizens are tired of this and they want accountability and you know again I believe the bill Barr is the right person I think putting John Durham in charge of sort of investigating all of the origins of the Russian collusion theory which proved to be I have no evidence I think he brought in Jeff Jensen who's another U. S. attorney to my point and he's the one that actually fared out the Flynn information and and and has you know resolve that okay you know I think there will be I think there will be accountability you know I look at how you.

"Senator Ted Cruz is our guest Senator Bernie Sanders was on Fox News last night. Two point five five million. People watched why? Well, yeah, I imagine out of curiosity. I suspect most of those I suspect it was a combination of regular FOX viewers. And then also Bernie supporters, and listen there there are unfortunately, far too many gullible people in the world that that that that are in thrall by by the promises socialism. And and I suspect a lot of the folks turning on where we're hardcore Bernie supporters a few of them were regular, FOX viewers. So we're just curious to see what they'd say you're pulled in a lot of different directions, you working in a lot of different issues. You're traveling a lot there's some major issues before the Senate. What are you working on right now with your name on it? That is the most significant. Well, what I've been doing this week is I is actually I'm touring Texas. I'm back in Texas. This week said it's not in session and focusing in particular on the school choice legislation that I've introduced in the Senate, and it is it if passed it would be the most far reaching federal school choice legislation that's ever passed. It is operatives tax credit. So it's a federal tax credit that would give you a dollar for dollar credit on your taxes for making contributions to scholarship granting organizations in the state Senate is five billion a year or fifty billion dollars over ten years for federal tax credits for contributions to k through twelve education allowing parents to use the scholarships to go to public school or private school, appropriate schools or religious schools, and it is also five billion a year or fifty billion over ten years for contributions federal tax credits for for contributions to scholarship granting organizations focused on workforce training, technical training apprenticeships. So I spent the day traveling a construction site visiting a construction site meeting at at at Texas State technical college meeting with folks who are training to be welders work in robotics and working in cybersecurity. And those two together the potential impact. Act in terms of educating and training, the Texas workforce in the workforce, a cough across the country is enormous. The president was in Crosby few days ago, which of course in your state Crosby, Texas just outside of Houston. And he announced a couple of executive orders in line with that. How important is that? Well, I'm very glad the president was was back came to Texas. I had hoped to come with him. But actually at the same time he was down in Texas. I I was chairing a hearing in the Senate on big tech, and and their censorship of conservatives and their their their political bias. And so since I was chairing a hearing in Washington, I couldn't be here for the the events in Texas, but I was sorry to miss them. But but glad glad to say the president coming back, Texas, Senator Ted Cruz is our guest today after tax day, and this, of course, tax freedom day, as you know, all too. Well, you have proposed making the Trump tax cuts the tax cuts for working Americans making those permanent. So that they don't sunset why. Because it's the right thing to do. And and and you know, I'm reminded of right after we pass the tax cut. We look at the tax cut. It was passed in in late twenty seventeen. We've seen the economy. Take off we've seen over five million jobs created since the beginning of this administration, Texas is benefiting enormously, but under the Bill the individual tax sunset they end after ten years, and I remember just just a week or two after attack tax cut passed. Bernie Sanders was on one of the Sunday shows. And he and and all the Democrats voted no voted against cutting our taxes, and and and Jake tapper asked him said, well, why why did you vote? No. And he said, well, the problem is the individual tax cuts sunset they end. Because tapper quite rightly asked Bernie said said said look this tax cut cuts taxes on on working men and women on Americans all over the country isn't cutting taxes on middle class Americans. Isn't that a good thing? And Bernie says, of course, the problem is they're not permanent. Well, I heard that. And I immediately. Retweeted that clip Senate out and said, Bernie, I agree with you. Join with me, let's join together let's make the individual tax cuts permanent. Let's make the small business tax cuts permanent. And and and I think we ought to bring it up and vote on it Republicans would support it and Democrats it'd be very interesting because their rhetoric they claim they wanna make individual tax cuts permanent. But I'm willing to bet Bernie and the rest of his party would vote. No. But, but it would it would provide real clarity as to where they stand. I'm for cutting taxes on hardworking, Texas, the two thousand seventeen tax cuts there in December just before the end of the year. President Trump's the end of his first year in office benefited sixty six percent of all Americans by reducing the amount. They had to pay Americans. It was broad. It was the it it cut into all layers of our economy all seven tax brackets. And yet I read today that of sixty six million Americans are sixty six percent of Americans benefited direct. From that only twenty percent realized they received a tax cut change that. Well, the Democrats are very good at demagoguery and and the media parrots their attacks. And and so it's it's amazing. How many how many Democrats just said things that aren't true? If you look at the results, we cut taxes across the board. And and so I if you're a taxpayer in Texas other than for a handful of the super wealthy just about every taxpayer in Texas had their taxes cut and cut significantly by this tax cut. Not only that though the effect of the tax cut along with repealing job killing regulations. We're seeing an economic boom as I mentioned five million new jobs in the last two and a half years that that is a lot of new jobs. We're seeing in Texas and across the country. We're seeing wages going up the number one state for wage increases is the great state of Texas. And and I'll give you my favorite stat last two years which. Is in the last two years over five million people have come off of food stamps. And and Michael the powerful thing about that. That's not just a number on a pie chart, those our lives being transformed. Those are people who two and a half years ago were dependent on the federal government for their basic food needs. Who now presumably they've gotten a job. They're out working. They're coming home each night. They've got a bag of groceries in their arms. They're setting it on the kitchen table. These are moms and dads were looking at looking their kids in the eyes and who had the dignity of work have the self perspective saying I'm providing for my family that is power on. You know, what those folks are benefiting from the tax cut. Also, even if they don't know it because the economic environment, the growth of small businesses and jobs is a big part of what the naval them to come off food stamps and get those jobs and have that dignity of work. Senator Ted Cruz is our guest we're going to go to break and forty five seconds. I'm gonna record with you during the break. So we can keep you on a play that in the next segment in those forty seconds named to places when you come back to Houston that you have to eat you gotta get your fix. No matter what time of day. Well, you know, when we go out a lot Escalante is a place, we go out to quite a bit shoe as a place we go out. We do a lot of back, and then actually my girls they like sushi. "For a vote today. Democrats want it. Then vote for it. That of course, also forced a discussion of what exactly is in it. Which was a bit embarrassing for Alexandria, Cossio Cortez. Because she was touting the green new deal. We only have twelve years left. We'd better. Hurry. We're all gonna die. Well, Senator Ted Cruz was chairing the meeting when he called upon Senator Mike Lee. To make remarks about the green new deal. Now, folks, we should never lose to the party that proposes ideas like this. This was Senator Mike Lees moment. So lengthy clip Ramona, you're gonna play it. I'm gonna take the rest of this segment. And much of the next one. I know it's boring. Senatorial words on the floor of the Senate. But it's worth knowing what's in that. Crazy Bill take it away. Senator Mike Lee Senator from Utah. President fear has become an all too prevalent quality in American political discourse. And unfortunately fear is unavoidable. When debating the substance of the resolution before this body today. That is climate change socialism and the green new deal. On entering this debate. I have a little fear in my heart as well. But Mr President my fear at this moment, maybe just a little different than that of some of my colleagues. Unlike some of my colleagues, I'm not immediately afraid of what carbon emissions unaddressed might do tour environment in the near term future or civilization or our planet in the next few years. Unlike others, I'm not immediately afraid of what the green new deal or do to our economy, and our government after all this isn't going to pass not today. Not anytime soon, certainly. Rather? After reading the green new deal, I mostly afraid of not being able to get through this speech with a straight face for Mr President. I rise today to consider the green new deal with the seriousness. It deserves. This is of course, a picture a former president Ronald Reagan. Naturally firing a machine gun while riding on the back of a dinosaur. You'll notice a couple of important features here. First of all, they rocket launcher strapped, the President Reagan's back, and then the stirring unmistakable patriotism of the velociraptor holding up a tattered American flag. A symbol of all means to be an American critics might quibble with this depiction of the climactic battle of the Cold War because while awesome. In real life. There was no climactic battle. There was no battle with or without philosopher raptors the Cold War as we all know was one without firing a shot. But that quibble actually serve our purposes here today, Mr President because this image has as much to do with overcoming communism in the twentieth century as the green new deal has to do with overcoming climate change in the twenty first. The expiration of the proposal have been called radical. They've been called extreme. But mostly they're ridiculous. There isn't a single serious idea here not one to illustrate let me highlight two of the most prominent goals produced by the plan's authors goal number one. The green new deal calls essentially for the elimination of airplanes. This might seem merely ambitious for politicians who represent the densely populated northeastern United States. But how's it supposed to work for fellow citizens who don't live somewhere between Washington DC in Boston? In a future without air travel. How are we supposed to get around the vast expanses of say Alaska during the winter? Well, I'll tell you how. Tontons Mr President. Beloved species of reptiles mammals native to the ice planet of off. Now. While perhaps not as efficient in some ways as airplanes or a snowmobiles these hairy bipedal species of space lizards offer their own unique benefits, not only are Tontons carbon-neutral. But according to a report a long time ago and issued far far away. They may even be fully recyclable and usable for their warpath, especially on a cold night. What about Hawaii isolated two thousand miles out into the Pacific Ocean under the green new deals effective airplane prohibition? How people they're supposed to get to and from the mainland, and how are they supposed to maintain that significant portion of their economy based on tourism? At that distance swimming, would of course, be out of the question and jet skis are notorious gas guzzlers, no all residents of Hawaii would be left with is this. This is a picture of aquaman a superhero from the undersea kingdom of Atlantis and notably here a founding member of the super friends, I draw your attention, Mr President to the twenty foot. Impressive seahorse. He's writing. Under the green new deal. This is probably Hawaii's best bet now on the first to admit that a massive fleet of giant highly trained seahorses would be cool. It would be really really awesome. But we have to consider a few things we have no idea about scale ability or domestic capacity in this sector. The last thing we want is to ban all airplanes. And only then find out that China or Russia may have already established strategic hippo campus programs designed to cut the United States out of the global market. Mr president. We must not allow and cannot tolerate a giant seahorse gap. Goal. Number two. The green new deal anticipates the elimination of all cows. Talking points released by the sponsors of the resolution today. It was introduced cited the goal of quote fully getting rid of and I'll paraphrase a little bit here. Flagellating cows. Now, Mr President I share their concern. But honestly, I think you've got to remember that if they think the house smell bad just wait till they get a whiff of the seahorses, what starts as save the environment. We're all gonna die ends up in legislation. Real. I'm super cereal. We'll hear more from Mike Lee coming up. Laugh. The Michael berry show, I need to be aware of the world around. You is important. The only thing that kind of disappointed me is when he when Donald Trump started talking about tariffs and taxes. I'm sorry tariffs that essentially our taxes, and you had a conservative. What what I used to consider conservative giants like like Senator Ted Cruz are standing up there applauding that sort of thing. And and my question is are we still for free trade or? You know, Paul. It's funny. You should say this. This is one of my moments of criticism in the speeches. Well is the doubling down on tariffs? And I appreciate the president wanting to get concessions from China and restructure deals there.
