Senator Schumer Sets Up Showdown on Voting Rights

"Asked the founding fathers are weeping because Republicans are squeezing the heart of a beating democracy because we don't like COVID inspired dropboxes in ballot harvesting. Call us crazy. But we just don't think that's such a good idea. Schumer is going to take a vote today. I don't think they have the vote. I'm not sure they do. I don't believe they do, but who knows? I don't trust these guys. As far as I can throw them, you never know. I'm hoping that this is going to play out the way we think it's going to play out. The Democrats' False Narative of Voter Suppression

"Former president Trump was often accused endlessly accused, actually, on some legacy networks of using harsh language, which he did. I've never heard anything as harsh as calling someone bull Connor. And every one in the country who believes in voter security and amending laws to require ID and do away with ballot drop boxes and things like that minor, but important changes is now bull Connor, who is really a despicable figure. And what makes it worse you is this is in service of a false narrative as you point out. Senator Schumer was holding a chart that I used on the Senate floor, which was a result of a pew poll taken November the 20th of 2020 were 94% of the respondents said they found it easy or very easy to vote. And then I challenged them to say what changes that have been made by this various states. Is he complaining about? And he mentioned the prohibition against ballot harvesting, which as you know is a system where some states allow people to go into nursing homes and among other vulnerable populations, help them fill out their ballot, and then that's political operative drops them in some Dropbox and obviously many states feel like that's a recipe for mischief. But things like eliminating voter ID and forcing people like you and me to finance through our tax dollars, candidates that we vehemently disagree with. I mean, this was a false narrative in service of a really trying to sell something that is completely at odds with what they are talking about and what the president talked about in Atlanta.

Republicans Plan to Block Infrastructure Bill

"Senator. You're on finance. So i wanted to bring up three things. The debt limit is coming. The reconciliation bill is coming and the infrastructure. Bill may or may not be coming. Let's take him in reverse order as of wednesday morning. July twenty first. What do you expect today when chuck schumer moves vote on the infrastructure so-called compromise bill so he will move to a bill with no text in fact texas not even written yet and say i want to start debate on it today and it will go down It should be pretty basic statement to say. We're not going to debate something if no one is literally not read it because it's literally not been written yet so that that's a whole new level of we've got a pass it before we know what's in it It's a point to say. Let's vote on it before we even have it written yet so that will fail. Today that allows by the way procedurally. Schumer will still be able to bring it back up whenever he wants to. Just because it fails today doesn't end it It puts it in this pause that he can bring up at any moment in the days ahead. Now expect you would try to do that again. Depending on what happens senator lankford. I have been amazed by the left right center agreement that this makes no sense for senator schumer to do. Have you discerned some master plan at work in the majority. Leader's mind that is somehow loading every reporter in dc. No the only thing i can think of is he's trying to just push it into say if this is gonna happen. Let's have it happened right now because if it's not going to happen then i wanna just cram all this same information into this giant taksin spending spree bill that they're pulling together to come up next and i think he's saying even if we're not going to get a bipartisan. Bill done Then i'm just gonna make the bill even larger and it'd be able to keep going from there so i think he's just trying to discern. Is this going to happen or not. The best i can tell quite frankly. It's a terrible way to actually legislate When you know we're working towards sixty he keeps trying to say well. We can't get to sixty. We can't get to sixty. So republicans are so recalcitrance and then he continues to do stuff like this. Were even people on the left. Say wh- what in the world. Why would you do it this way. But he'll turn around and blame republicans when it's over in the willing media will just take it up and just say yes. Republicans blocked this

Cuomo refuses to resign despite calls from top New York Democrats

"York's democratic governor. Andrew cuomo is in water that appears to be getting deeper and hotter all the time after the publication of along investigative piece by rebecca traced her a new york magazine today. Basically a long form review of the work culture in cuomo's office and his administration and reporting on a litany of women who have worked for him who say he has behaved inappropriately toward them in the workplace tonight both. Us senators from new york. Democratic senate leader chuck schumer and democratic. Senator kirsten gillibrand kirsten gillibrand. Both have called for governor cuomo to resign from the governorship senator schumer gillibrand join a majority of the overall congressional delegation from new york in now calling for cuomo to step down. This is the front page huffington post tonight quote. It's over schumer and jill brand coal for cuomo's head now the photo. There is one of an odd series of reuters photographs. Taken today at the governor's mansion apparently from quite a distance in these photos. The governor is seen walking around talking on a cell phone while wearing a blanket. Also his it should be noted. He's in the company of a really quite amazing looking. Good dog but why. The governor's wearing a blanket. Nobody knows the news of senator. Schumer and senator gillibrand joining the pile on now demanding. Cuomo's resignation is front page news all over the country tonight so far cuomo himself is showing no signs of heating these demands for his resignation if he refuses to resign ultimately the only way he can be removed from office against his will before the next election of course is by impeachment as we reported here last night. Democrats in the state legislature in new york have announced the opening of an impeachment inquiry targeting cuomo acid yesterday. If they do impeach him in the assembly he will then go on trial in the new york senate where a majority of new york senators have already called on him to resign thus making it seem more than just likely that he would be convicted in the senate and removed from office if the assembly goes ahead and impeach him but again that process has just starting and again. Lots of calls tonight. That this news. About senator. Schumer and senator gillibrand means. It is over for governor. Cuomo seems disagree. We will let you know if the story develops further over the course of the night. It's a fair bet that it will. We will let you know

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo again refuses to resign

"Have been moving fast. In governor cuomo's ever expanding set of scandals of the past forty eight hours from the news that his office apparently reached out to a number of different former employees to see if they'd spoken to The first accuser which seems weird an intimidating and it turns out that a former aide says that it was in fact intimidating and she felt bewildered by it to yesterday during an emergency meeting and state assembly announcing is going to be Starting an impeachment inquiry involving both the allegations of sexual harassment and assault as well as the nursing death scandal to about forty percent of his entire parties members in the assembly in the senate signing on asking for him to immediately resign and then there was this morning when representative alexandria ocasio. Cortez tweeted that after two accounts of sexual assault four counts of harassment. The attorney general's investigation. Finding the governor's admitted nursing home data from the legislature in public saying we agree with the fifty five plus members of new york state legislature. That the governor must resign. There was a letter that she put out with congressman bowman then at least eleven of the democratic house representatives from new york called for him to resign and just including jerry nadler button adler by the way and then just as we were going live. Senators schumer and gillibrand both also said that. His time for the governor to resign. As of this afternoon he said that he would would not which is what they always say until they do but he seems like a fighter jank for. What do you think is he. Is he gonna stick around no matter how many people tell them if biden gets involved yeah. I'm really curious what you think. Francesca there's one part of this tournament so that's already interesting of they. There's nothing that i'm talking about. In regards to andrew cuomo he's establishment democrat extraordinary. and he. he's been wrong on so many issues. and he's attacked progressives and good meaning people in behind the scenes a thousand different ways and a he's a political apparatchik extraordinarily now he's claiming like oh i'm just a regular joe. Your name is cuomo governor governor. Don't pretend you're one of us okay. You're an ultimate insider. Any use insider system to attack all of your opponents. You've done it for decades and and as anna keeps pointing out rightfully so the guy caught four hundred million dollars for medicaid actually overall customer is slated to be two and a half billion dollars to talk about of doing it in the middle of the pandemic delayed for after the pandemic but some of the cuts had already that he had done was the reason why they didn't have enough hospital beds and that's why he then took. Two people from the hospital was put in in the nursing homes and then everybody died nursing homes and so for all those reasons he already was a terrible governor from a perspective of people who i was gonna say progresses but really anybody critique of him is correct is my point sexual harassment issue. The only thing i have here is that. And that's why i'm curious. Were both of you guys. Think about it part of me thinks okay yes. Let's go through. The process like seles. Allegation is groping. If that's if that's true that's he should be gone within the minute right. So that's not an that's not a question. The question is how are these. Six six is a lot on the other hand. If you remember al franken it had piled up to be a big number but every one of them was like a fake picture. We took her picture once and put his hand around my shoulder and they were like. Oh levitin mike though. That's not eleven right. That's let's have an investigation so there is a part of me that says is you know. Do we have a. We sure that these are all true. One hundred percent. We can act on it and i get the other point. Which is they all. Have to be one hundred percent true. There's six of them. It looks like we've got an obvious pattern here. So francesca what are you. Oh yeah no. There's when this first broke weeks ago. I was like i've never been more sure that there was a giant iceberg underneath this very very tiny little tip that we're seeing sticking out of the water. You knew the goal and just it's it's his. I don't know. I'm not trying to be anti talion as someone like. Don't don't go to the mafias a brand new things but like the guy in clearly in exactly all the reason that you said in the ways it. He's bullied around his political opponents for years in the ways that he is so trump being in that he's got an gotten everything from his father and then also in the cavalier ways because some of these incidents were while he was rising to stardom. Which i gotta say man. It's been real fun to watch him fall as someone who was never on board for the rise who was look. It's a doing the absolute bare minimum the absolute bare minimum thing. You should do believing in science locking locking things down even though. I don't even think he did that. Amazing of a job. Yes i said it like. It's been nice to watch like. Oh here's the real cuomo and and like it's funny to me that there are so many cuomo's around this country there are so many sort of middling mediocre like kind legacy politicians dynastic politicians. who escaped by they. They assault a couple people. They bully their opponents but they kind of then. Then they get applauded. They come out with a book and they're fine. But i feel like the meteoric rise that he had under covert and the way that he laid into it so much just set him. He set himself up. It's like you could have just the way that trump could have been absolutely fine. Just doing cameos on home alone. Five or whatever it was and then he had to go and run for president And now we're looking at his taxes. So look here's my thing about resignation. I feel like it's a little bit of an escape hatch. And i think for when it comes to actually having investigation actually and as painful it as it is like having the people came forward to testify or discuss it absolutely like not or at least have an investigation. I don't know what it would look like. it feels. There would be more accountability. And i think that so many creeps and so many predators getaway in the workplace because there's no accountability to begin with so i'm not even sure if immediate resignation is accountability. Do do you know what i'm saying. Yeah i actually francesca. I love that point in that gets the another problem in the political system. So cuomo keep saying. I you know i wanted attorney general to do. Finish the investigation as letitia james and if we all believed that our democracy was on the level and politicians warn politicians. I'd say definitely finished investigation. Because i wanted to if he did it and we get it then that gives us closure as opposed to well. He's resigning you to deny it forever. Because then they won't bother finishing the investigation et cetera. Right but the problem is i. Don't trust politicians so is cuomo part of the reason cuomo's doing because he wants to delay it and then he thinks if i can just delayed thousand other political maneuvers to avoid it and the and then he keeps saying he wants so much that i a wonder is fisher. James doesn't look like a political ally of cuomo based on her previous experience right but one if she is something we don't and then they a bs investigation. Those women took you know suffer a second injustice so you think yeah and i just think it's important to mention though that like the investigation of sexual assault or harassment claim. Is it so hard because it is always a. He said she said type of situation. Which is why we have. Things like the slogan survivors right And believe women which because you have predators who will always deny it. I do not foresee a future in which andrew cuomo admits. Anything that i can be sure of. We might hear more about the stories from the from the staffers and the and the people who were he victimized but i do not foresee him being. I guess i remember doing that. No it's not gonna happen so again. I just want set that up that it's not a fair you're never gonna get to the truth kind of thing.

Stabenow Is Among Senators Calling For Trump's Removal

"Democratic senator debbie stab of michigan called for trump to be removed from office following last week's attack on the capital and she joins me. Now senator. first. Your reaction to the news about mitch mcconnell which. I think some are surprised by well first of all. I'm not surprised that he knows that. Down trump committed impeachable acts. He knows that is a bright man. The question will be whether or not he's gonna stand with senator schumer who has asked him to use the powers that they have under two thousand four senate resolution to bring us back in an emergency to the senate to be able to act so after the house acts you know if he really means it than he will join chuck schumer. We will come back into session and we will have the trial and we will get this done. And he'll join us doing that to me. That would be the as to whether or not he means that. That's a good point. So so you believe he has under his power to bring you back and start this trial should should the president be impeached. Tomorrow's we expect under this one article that has been offered for his incitement of this mob in pursuit of this project overturning a democratic election. You think the senate should come back. Mitch mcconnell series about this. You should be back in the next few days and do it before. The president leaves office absolutely. I mean there's a two thousand four senate resolution is passed. Senator schumer has reached out to mitch mcconnell and said let's say it's -mergency powers. This certainly isn't emergency all the pictures we've been saying you've been showing tonight and we have been seeing constantly the experiences that we had this is an emergency and they could together. Bring us back into session and we could get this done. That will be the real thing that that matters. I mean is he going to actually act on this. We just seen too much of this enabling for four years. And i was thinking. Oh chris that a year ago we were actually in a trial in the senate right now. We were in a trial. And if the republicans have mitch mcconnell had joined with us then we would have not had the way that the krona virus has handled that has caused almost three hundred and eighty thousand desk. We wouldn't have what happened last week. We wouldn't have had those five deaths so that was just a year ago that they could have acted well now if he really believes that there were impeachable acts which of course there were than. He's step up. He's a step up in show some leadership. What do you think about the members of congress both houses who have supported who have given kind of even conference the president's big lie on this on this score the they've done it in this very kind of too cute by half way on seeking now josh hawley. Ted cruz of a lot of people feel this way and we're just asking questions and we should have a commission but when all said and done they voted not to seat the electors who were rightfully elected by the people as part of our democratic system. What do you think of those colleagues in both houses. I think shameful. I think in some way. They should be held accountable. I know that there are requests for ethics committee. Investigations am i i. I'm supportive of holding them accountable. In some way i mean. We can't will von and have healing without accountability in without justice. And by the way. Chris we do need to move and we have a president and a vice president being sworn in on january twentieth. We also need to be confirming a secretary of defense secretary of homeland security secretary of the treasury all of these important positions with donald trump. We actually came in the twentieth to put the secretary of defense in place immediately. I want to know if our republican colleagues of mitch mcconnell Going to join with us in that endeavor as well. That's part of the responsibility here. The put in place the responsible team the competent team. That's going to be able to make decisions to keep us safe going forward. So there's a lot at stake here and we wanna move forward and we we as democrats. No we have to work across the be by parsing gets things done but we also know that at this moment what was done here was an insurrection. There has to be accountability. There has to be justice in order for us to be able to really move on in a sincere way. Senator debbie seven out of michigan so much joining us tonight

"Compare and contrast With with Biden and and you know he's going to get that opportunity still, but he will have lost a certain percentage of voters by that time, so you've gotta wonder if the system really is. There the way it has been in the past. Now, with this massive push toward mailing body early, so with about 60,000 positive tests around the country in 1000 deaths today, coronavirus still a huge problem, especially on the economy, the health of our economy and health of the individuals. So the rescue package we pretty much agree on both sides. We need tohave one where their republic were at one trillion Nancy Pelosi and company are 3.4 trillion. They pledged to have something by the end of the week. Some inside baseball stuff. Mark Meadows, according to Senator Schumer is bored. And he's hurting the process because him and Steve were able to work stuff out in the past, but not with Mark there. What can you tell us? John? Well, I mean, obviously Meadows because he was a member of the Freedom Caucus when he was in Congress is protecting the conservative wing of the party, and he knows But this idea of if you re up to $600 enhanced unemployment insurance for anything more than a short period of time is, you know, maybe it could be something that the president would agree to. It could be something the White House would agree to. But Meadows is very much aware that he's going to get the stopping Peyton out him the president well as well by the conservative wing of the party. If they agree to that there just there is there is not much appetite among conservatives for a long term extension of the $600 unemployment insurance payment. Now, you know, Meadows. I'm sure is quite aware that while some people may be staying home, rather than going backto work because they're getting more money, there are certain people in this country. And do you know that a lot of them work in the service industry too? You know, they say that you're a bartender at a big hotel somewhere and you make a certain salary, But then you make a lot of money off of tips. Your unemployment is based on your salary. It's not based on your tips, and therefore that $600 is really helping the make up for what they had been losing in terms of the over ridge that they would get some tips. And if they lose that $600 they're not gonna be able to pay the bills. And I think that that's a case that you know he could potentially make to the conservative wing of his party. But there is there is not a lot of there's no appetite among conservatives, for I know 14 week or to the end of the year extension 2 $600 So I think the Republicans will probably come down. Maybe somewhere between the $200 extra that's been talked about and $600. I'm not sure But I think that's the reason why Meadows is there is to protect the conservative side of the equation, and I'm sure he wants a deal. But the book from the White House is that the Democrats are happy to talk, but they're not happy to make a deal. Okay, Fine. Uh, who pays the price? Politically, if there is no deal, and is the president going to fulfill his threat to do something from executive action, you know, the president is definitely looking into a lot of things that he could do from executive. Action is too. Who pays the price? It all depends on what happens with some of these. Uh, you know what? Chuck Schumer called, Um What he called him scam boats or some some terminology like sham votes, Uh, that Mitch McConnell is going to have in the Senate this week. Or they're going to take apart the Heroes Act from the house and course Democrats to vote on things that will be uncomfortable for them to vote No on No, they could game backs in traction there, But I think whoever wins politically is whoever Khun deliver eviction protection and enhanced unemployment and a couple of other things. For Americans who are still hurting because of the pandemic..

"I have the power to do it is president And I'm going to make Doc a part of it, but way put it in and we're probably going to then be taken it out. We're working out the legal complexities right now. That may sound confusing, But the president went on to say he believes he's going to be signing an immigration bill shortly as well. One of the aspects of the bill is going to be doctor. We're going to have a road to citizenship. Later, a White House spokesperson tried to clarify by issuing a statement that said President's working on an executive order to establish a merit based immigration system, but that he also wants to work with Congress on a legislative fix, addressing DACA one that could include citizenship. Along with strong border security and permanent merit based reforms. This would all not include amnesty, so Is an executive order on immigration and Daka coming or full blown immigration bill in an election year. It protects DACA recipients through the reason I'm skeptical is that as he's talking, he's talking about kind of a merit based approach to immigration. Talking about an immigration bill Ali Noorani is the president of the National Immigration Forum. You know, the track record for the administration has been, you know, even when you know the president was negotiating with Senator Schumer, Senator Schumer put $25 billion on the table for the border wall in order to get protection for dreamers. President didn't take that deal. So President. The president says the tumor and the Democrats to the do the opposite that they were not willing to put up that much. 25 billion they were only willing to put up. I think it was a little over a 1,000,000,000 in January of 2018 Senator Schumer Quite frankly, he was taking a lot of heat from his base for making that agreement to say, $25 billion for the wall for to protect dreamers. I think the president was speaking about the budget of the incident budget negotiations that came after the president walked away from that deal. S O. My point here is ah! The president could say, Let's make a fair trade here was protect dreamers. Let's increase technology and infrastructure in the border. I think Democrats they would be hard pressed not to take that deal. Even now, especially if it included a path to citizenship. Like the president wants to see you. That's what I was gonna ask you. Yeah, I was going. I want to ask, he said he said that. You know, Doc, you folks will be included in a merit based immigration bill right? That would merit. But it would include a road to citizenship. I think I think I heard some immigration hardliners, you know, fall out of their chairs when they heard the words road to citizenship come out of this president's mouth at what was Were you even more confused at that point, given the merit based immigration bill talk Because Mary based immigration is code for this administration say they're going to slash legal immigration. Ah, a Keep in mind there. Since covered, 19 hit, the U. S administration is put into place almost 50 changes to immigration policy. Now, some of them have been necessary Republicans reasons I would agree. But to suspend the age to be programmed to stand to spend ages one day program. There's no economic reason that we should be shutting off parts of our economy as we're struggling to recover from this pandemic. But what about that for a second? Because I think some folks would say You know, maybe maybe Now is the time to put the American worker ahead of, you know, giving out visas to folks too, You know, even if the economy is struggling and suffering, and we need workers Maybe let's focus on building up our own workforce. You know during this time, especially with the huge unemployment numbers rather than focusing on giving out visas to people from other countries. You know, we do think that we've got to assess in the long term. What our nation's immigration needs are given this the pandemic. But when you look a technology sector, this is the tight labor market. Folks are being you know, folks who are willing to work and are able to work. They can do that remotely now and still, these technology companies. Are trying to figure out Okay. How did they show their open positions on? Do you know the technology is not just your Silicon Valley, but it's also the backhand for your major retailers menu. Major manufacturers need their food processing meat packing. I mean these air come these air these air industries that are core to keeping the country. No, frankly moving on DH. No, I think that you know the American worker and their families under such incredible risk and stress. At this point, Do we really expect somebody to move from Michigan too? You rural Texas to, you know, work on a farm or in a meat packing plant. I mean, we've gotta have a better policy than expecting that of of the American worker. It's playing at the at the end of the day. Anything that happens with immigration, even if the president is talking about executive orders. It has to come from Congress. What realistically can we expect? Do you think in an election year either in the way of an executive order or or even legislation, which I'm highly suspicious of? You know, I think we can expect more executive orders on immigration that makes clear something. The president and his team enjoyed tuning on. Hopefully one those executive orders is to continue, Doctor protect protections for doctors. That would be wonderful. I do think that the legislative market and is Unable to bear an immigration bill. At this point, I think that it would take a pretty heavy investment capital from leader McConnell from Speaker Pelosi and others to say you know what we're going to sit down and hammer out a compromise on immigration, and that's Hard enough to do in an off year hard enough to do in a time when we were three or 4% unemployment. I guess it feels pretty near impossible right now. Now. What about that phrase pathway to citizenship? The president's had a plan for Dhaka would allow that. At least one immigration hardliner former Congressman Lieu Barletta was not fazed by that language. Well, you know, I think that the president really wants to focus on merit based immigration, you know, rather than ah lottery system and and how you know, allowing people to come into the country illegally and giving them a pathway to citizenship. How it affects. Those who have waited here legally and I want to come here legally, so the reforms the president has talked about really stands up for legal immigration. On also the importance of protecting the American worker and not allowing people to come here illegally, especially at the lower end of the economic ladder and have their their wages depressed, and that's what illegal immigration does the press of the wages of the American worker, so I think it's still going to be an important Uh, issue in the campaign compared to Joe Biden's open borders and the Democrats open borders and, you know, just allowing anyone to come into the country and then affect the working man and woman. But he did say, Doc a phone. You just referenced merit based immigration right Heat. The president did say DACA folks would be included in a merit based immigration bill..

The White House said, don't go. That's the cover up. It's not a cover up the president. He's come out to say soon afterwards. He that oppressor. And he said, well, we'll we'll, we'll cover-ups cover-ups the time all the bills paid this is what happened. No collusion. No obstruction. No, nothing. They issued fifty orders authorizing use of pen registers. Think of that the five hundred witnesses and then I have Nancy Pelosi go out and say that the president of the United States engaged in a cover-up. Now, we've had a house investigation. We have Senate investigation. We have investigations like nobody's ever had before. And there's nothing we did nothing wrong. They would have loved to have said, we colluded. They would've loved it. These people were out. To get us the that there is no doubt, so Nancy Pelosi before going to meet with the president's talk about infrastructure at the White House says he's guilty of a cover up. The president enters the meeting three minutes. He's gone. He's not going to work with them. Goes to the rose garden to have a press conference. To say exactly that. This is madness. When do we actually start working on things? And as he said it, we have two tracks here that we can do that. You probably can't go down two tracks. You can go down v investigation track, and you can go down the investment track, or the track of let's get things done for the American people. I love the American people. Drug prices are coming down first time in fifty one years, because of my administration, but we can get down way, lower working with the Democrats, we can solve the problem of the border in fifteen minutes. If the Democrats would give us a few votes. So I just wanted to let you know that I walked into the room and I told. Senator Schumer speaker Pelosi, I wanna do infrastructure. I want to do it more than you wanna do it. I'd be really good at that. That's what I do. But you know what? You can't do it under these circumstances. So he's done with the press conference. He goes inside then Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer's to the speaker of the house, and the Senate minority leader surrounded by a bunch of other Democrats have themselves a press conference and ANSI Pelosi says, I, I call it a cover up. Now, let's go the emasculation in prayer route, we ranked in the spirit of bipartisanship to find common ground with the president on this, this, he came into the room made it statement that he made was, I won't even characterize it for some reason, maybe it was lack of confidence on his part that he really couldn't come match the greatness of the challenge that we have didn't wasn't really respectful of. Of the congress and the White House working together. He just. Took a pass, and it just makes me wonder why why he did that in any event, I pray for the president of the United States. That's nice me. I'm Tony cats. Tony cats today. Eight three three got Tony eight three three four six eight eight six six nine. We might still hear more from a speaker Pelosi today. I just wanted to get everybody up to speed on some of this insanity. I spoke with Ed Henry, a Fox News correspondent about that. I'll share more of that in a little bit. I wanna take to New York, there is a fascinating story from the New York Post about racism in the schools. This is really just really ugly. Four top department of education executives, demoted or stripped of duties under chancellor, Richard car Carranza. See. A. R. A. N. Z. A. C. A. R A, N Z ridge of Karonga. They've stripped to their duties under his reorganization. They're suing the city. They're suing the city because Richard Caramba is creating an environment which is hostile towards whites. Hold on. Wait a second. I'm sorry. What an environment which is hostile towards whites. The women fill women who have been demoted all white veteran administrators say they were pushed aside, for less qualified persons of color. This has gone up amazing. The decisions made because department of education leadership believes that skin color plays, a role in how to get equity that white, people can't convey the message that according to a source familiar with the complaints now speaker Pelosi take into the podium there on Capitol Hill to talk about the cover up comments and other things with President Trump. Let's take her as we go into Memorial Day weekend, which is such a beautiful time for us to remember respect and honor, we honor the service and sacrifice our heroes in uniform and reaffirm, our sacred duty to never forget that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The service ever veterans reminds of our mission to build a future, where they of their sacrifice and reduce so armee oaths, we take to support and defend the constitution and to protect the America. People honoring that oath, this week, the half past nine bills to support veterans protecting their health benefits the national security, and taking actions to end the prices of in suicide. We also passing urgently-needed fix for military families facing tax hikes, under the GOP tax scam with the kiddie tax Republicans took half a billion dollars from working class families and gave it to big corporations, and the wealthy a half a billion the kitty tech, it is unacceptable that five children of our fallen heroes who have suffered so much are now forced to pay thousands of additional dollars in taxes. Well, she's going to go through a laundry list of what she's going to claim as accomplishments in some very well could be. She's not going to get to the good stuff for a little bit. We will take the break. We'll see if Nancy Pelosi is still talking will continue the story in New York people being fired for being white, because they can't deliver the message of education to non white students, this self segregation, doesn't it up in a good spot, and the national popular vote that doesn't end up. "So was this, a stage tantrum? That's the question that I walked into the room and I told. Senator Schumer speaker Pelosi, I wanna do infrastructure. I wanna do it more than you want to do it. I'd be really good at that. That's what I do. But you know what? You can't do it under these circumstances. So get these phony investigations over with the thing, that's amazing about that statement. Is that he says, I want to do it more than you want to do it? He's the one who wants infrastructure more than them. I thought he supposed to take something hostage that the other side wants more anyway, is this. I think he's just can't get his messaging, right. But this is something he's been saying for a long time ever since the November elections that if the Democrats investigated him he would not work with them on any legislation. Now who does that hurt? More politically, we'll have to see, you know, after that Schumer came back to the capital and held up a thirty five page plan that he said he was prepared to hand to the president and I'm out infrastructure around him. Not impeachment about infrastructure, and how to pay for it is what he said, we have actually seen that plan, you know, and Democrats from people who were. Familiar, what with what happened in the room are telling us that the president walked into the cabinet room and didn't shake anybody's hand or sitting his seat? And then he just said he wanted to do infrastructure and trade, but then he said something about Pelosi saying something terrible, about cover up and things went south. So here's another question, though. Why would Nancy Pelosi say something that she had to have known would get under the president's skin right before this meeting? And then that phrase shows up on all the chirons on all the cable channels. First of all, I don't know what was in Nancy Pelosi's head when she says that coupled theories number one at the same time, she's trying to keep your finger in the dike of impeachment and stave off a kind of rebellion among our own members to go forward with that. She also has to acknowledge their incredible frustration with the president. So she aknowledges she agrees with them. He's stonewalling us. He's engaged in a cover up on the other hand, if an I. I think this is maybe over thinking it did she want to get in his head. She seemed to have wanted to in that first meeting, where he ended up taking responsibility for the government shutdown. Did she want to rattle him today or not? I, I don't I don't know yet. It's hard to tell exactly why she would do that. But there are some Democrats who are already complaining that she's talking out of both sides of her mouth, and she has to choose. Is it a cover up, if so impeachments or is it something else? And then if that's the case, a slower process makes more sense, but they want her to pick a side yet. So he then comes out to the rose garden, where I was at the White House and keeps talking about a cover up came here to do a meeting on infrastructure with Democrats, not really thinking they wanted to do infrastructure or anything else other than investigate, and I just saw that Nancy Pelosi just before meeting made a statement that we believe that the president of the United States is engaged in a cover up. Well, it turns out on the most, I think most of you would agree to this. I'm the most transparent president probably in the history of this country and then goes on, and on and on through things that we've heard a lot about, you know, the witch hunt so much money spent on the witch hunt. The Muller investigation saying he's the most transparent ever. But the thing that really stands out and, and Mara already kind of touched on this is the president saying, you know, I'm just not going to work on policy with Democrats until they finish investigating me. This is such a head scratcher because we know that voters don't care about the Muller investigation. They want congress in the White House to work together on things. They care about infrastructure is a bipartisan initiative with support from both parties..

I'd be really good at that. That's what I do. But you know what? You can't do it under these circumstances. So get these phony investigations over with nearly five hundred search warrants think of that as search warrant to give you a search warrant before needed. I this was over five hundred search warrants and of the nineteen people that were heading up this investigation, or whatever you wanna call it with. With Bob Muller. They were contributors to the democrat party, most of them into Hillary Clinton. They hated President Trump. They hated him with a passion. They went to her big party after the election that turned out to be awake, not apart. It was a week and it was very angry. These are the people that after two years, and forty million or thirty five million dollars. Linda being a lot more than that, by the time all the bills paid. This is what happened. No collusion. We have investigations like nobody's ever had before. And there's nothing we did nothing wrong. They would have loved to have said, we colluded. They would've loved it. These people were out to get us the Republican party and President Trump, they were out together. This was a one sided horrible thing. The bottom line is they said, there's no collusion. No collusion with Russia. We went and we did a rally hardly mentioned today and yet to be lost. It would have been the big. Story in the country, even bigger than this witch hunt stuff that you guys keep reading about. So here's the bottom line. It was it was obstruction. We've been doing this since I've been president and actually, the crime was committed on the other side. We'll see how that all turns out. I hope it turns out, well, but to what to my way of thinking, and I know a lot of you agree with me. The crime was committed on the other side. This whole thing was a takedown. "Pleased with the positive attitude toward recognizing the trillions of dollars of of need. According to the American society of civil engineers the deficit that we have in our infrastructure. So how do you pay for it? What's the tab? And again, where's the money coming from joining me now live CBS White House? Correspondent Steven Portnoy any answer, Stephen. No. And another question. We don't have an answer to what's actually on the list. What would get fixed? None of these details have been addressed at this point. But we do have according to top Democrats in congress and President Trump is an agreement to spend two trillion dollars on infrastructure projects. But on what exactly what would be the scope of such a package will how how would it be paid for? These are details. We simply don't have. And there were no congressional Republicans in the meeting today here at the White House the session lasted for about ninety minutes, and the Democrats call it a very good start. You heard Nancy Pelosi. Short while ago. The president put out a statement saying that it was an excellent meeting. The leaders will come back here in three weeks to hammer out some of the details. But that's the hardest part. Right. I mean, the idea that both sides agree in concept to fund infrastructure. Why the fact that there is an agreement on a two trillion dollar figure? We don't over what span of time. Typically, when you talk about numbers that big in Washington you talking about a ten year projection. That's a significant development of what's not clear is whether it would come out of the treasury and the general source of revenue that the government collects each year in income tax or whether it might be financed through the highway trust fund, which is funded by the eighteen point three cents per gallon gas tax that we all pay. No that gas tax has not been adjusted since the year nineteen Ninety-three same nominal amount eighteen point three cents per gallon that we were paying more than twenty five years ago, if it had been adjusted for inflation be something like more than thirty cents a gallon. But that hasn't happened congress hasn't let it happen. And the question is now is it time for it to happen. It would raise I think more than a billion dollars for every cent in the gasoline tax. But there's a downside effect of that. If you increase the gas tax, you have the likelihood that people will shift their behavior if gasoline becomes more expensive. They might take fewer trips in the car. They might use mass transit more often that could have spillover effects in the economy. And so these are not easy decisions to make. And that's why they haven't been made to this point the statement from Senator Schumer Schumer was telling him what was not said at that meeting..

"Is Red Eye Radio all across America. Eight six six ninety redeye he is Eric Harley and I'm Gary McNamara. Welcome hand. Good morning. Well, the president had is eight minute address to the nation last night. This barrier is absolutely critical to border security. It's also what professionals at the border want and need. This is just common sense. Here's Chuck Schumer responding. There is no challenge. So great that our nation cannot rise to meet it we can reopen the government and continue to work through disagreements over policy. What policy would that be Senator Schumer specifically, what do you believe on border security that policy is border security draw him out? So we'll get to more of your calls and comments on that we've been analyzed at analyzing that the first few hours of the show three hours while it's flying. I want to get to the this is off the topic a little bit, but we always like to identify. Why why when the president says fake news there is a lot of legitimacy to that? Yeah. And this is another example here, and it's it's off the topic. But whenever we find one where an example, we want to bring it to you. And this is actually a pretty big one where where did you see this now from Newsweek and this was posted yesterday afternoon by Jason lemon and at Newsweek dot com. Here's the headline. Another four star general just resigned from the Trump administration says he couldn't complete his mission. Sounds like part of the mass exodus that they want you to believe what's going on. Right. That's not a small deal that your secretary of defense leaves. So. Let's add to that shall we? Yes. Another general is leaving. Well, here's the quote. By the way, this is Anthony Zinni, and he's a retired four-star marine general who resigned from the administration. And he was a special envoy. And he was there essentially to he was sent to try and solve what's going on with Qatar. Right. So here's his quote. Here's the quote from Zini himself. I resigned because I do not feel I successfully helped or could successfully help resolve the cutter dispute because the unwillingness of the regional leaders to agree to a viable mediation effort that we offered to conduct or assist an implementing. So in essence, he wasn't a four star general who retired. He was a retired four-star general who was a special on voi- this particular mission and felt he could not get the job done not because of anything in the Trump administration. But because the regional leaders of those countries in the Middle East he could not get in in line or to cooperate with each other. So he quit because of what was going on on the ground if t to use that term over there which had nothing to do with the Trump administration, and he was not acting as a four star general. He was a retired general and a special envoy. Yeah. And he goes on to to explain, and and in fact, in in a different interview, he said, quote, I just could not get the parties out there to engage in some of the mediation process that we offered and I felt that I couldn't. Do it much further. Right. There has been a stalemate there with what's going on between Saudi and Qatar and and everything else, and you have something that likely won't be helped along by the us much unless we could gain some leverage from Saudi. I I really don't know. Honestly, I don't pretend to have the answers the point was to. Show demonstrate once again. At the media takes this is this is your your reshaping the narrative. Because the headline should read on void to cutter steps down to lack of a response by leaders in that region. Right. Nope. Now, they're four star general just resigned from the Trump administration says he couldn't complete his mission. Doesn't tell you. Why doesn't need to tell you? Why not because they know they're sharing reshaping the right? You're you are you are not telling the truth. The that headline is fake news. Because it does not get you to the actual truth of the matter, and you can do that in the headline, and we believe that the writer of that story or the editor whoever put that headline together is smart enough to understand that that headline does not do Justice to the actual store. Well, and it goes on later in the article two to read quoting from the article zanies decision makes him the latest four star general to depart from the Trump administration following close behind the December announcement of General James Mattis who served as secretary of defense. What you're saying that zinnias a retired four-star general is, but so he's but he's not serving in that. No. What you're you're. Right. You're you're making it sound like the headline makes it sound like an in that story makes it sound like he is currently a four star general the military and his lane because he cannot accomplish his military mission in the Trump administration. That that somehow relates to the the the Mattis Trump dispute, which it has nothing to do with it because he's a retired four-star general acting as a special envoy to help to other countries or a number of countries come together in an agreement and he realizes that. He can't get them to agree. And it's no longer worth his time to be over there because they just won't do anything. They can do anything. They won't come to the table. So he's a special envoy just for that his jobs over he's leaving the administration. Right. It's not that he's a four star general who's disagreeing with Trump on policy because that's what makes it sound. Like, yes. Now, he served at one time not in this case, not in this as head of the US central command. In fact, they point that out before they point out that he was an onboard. And no longer, you know, that's that's the whole idea is that. The implication is that you've got four star generals leaders of the military just fleeing the administration first of all it don't work that way. And be don't correct. My english. It's just it's it's it's beyond ridiculous. But. In a nation where the majority of people can't name the three branches of government. It's like I would say pounding my head in the wall. It's more like pounding my head in the sand. And I want to bring up destroyed. I believe Brian you found this the force because this is really this is really important because remember with Uber and lifting and all that and the Democrats remember how they were talking about the fact that we're going to a gig economy. Yeah. Right that that people won't have jobs anymore where they work for their employer and they're not protected with benefits. And and all of that in for a good couple of years. The Democrats were harping on that we're going to the gig economy. It's horrible. It's horrible. It's horrible. The where this would nation is going with jobs is just ridiculous. They don't they're not protected. They don't have benefits. They don't have. And they're going to be working twenty-seven different part time jobs just to be able to survive. We can't be going to the gig economy. Remember that? Yep. Everybody. Yep. From fortune magazine. The gig economy was supposed to be the future of work. All generations wanted the freedom and short term contract work that was the new norm. At least that's what the experts said. But two of the most well-known economist Alan Krueger of Princeton and Lawrence Katz of Harvard now say that they're influential two thousand fifteen study we've got this whole thing going, especially from the left was wrong. As a Wall Street Journal reported. What threw them off was inadequate data and the recession Bank, then Krueger and cats asserted that the nature of work was changing people were creating a living out of odd jobs through smartphone platform, apps such as Uber and task rabbit. But over time the expected changes did not come the bureau of labor statistics found that between two thousand five and two thousand seventeen virtually nothing has changed in the world of work. In fact, people in alternative work arrangements made up ten percent of the total workforce in two thousand five. It was eleven percent of the workforce mongo's to eleven. It's and you see this all the time that that we're gonna change. We're going to go to a four day workweek. We're going to everybody will be working from home. I think it was. And then Richard Branson said something to the effect of say goodbye to the five day workweek, and he was going the other way. Sorry. People aren't going to pay you enough because he was supporting, of course, an agenda political agenda to pay people more in government handouts and everything else the whole guilty billionaire syndrome, and that the government should be paying people. In other words, because they're not making enough money working forty hours a week. I think it was not the five day workweek with a forty hours a say goodbye to the four forty hour workweek because you're going to be working, you know, what Mr. Branson and all of you. My dad worked two jobs. Most of his military career when he wasn't serving overseas. I remember as a kid another quote from John we hear about the good old days. Please tell me when they were right. He worked two jobs and at one time for period of about a year, year and a half. We actually had the discussion last time I saw him, and he was actually worked three jobs. Right. He worked a full-time job. And then he was working two part time jobs, and he did work two fulltime jobs. But at times he had three jobs, and this was in the nineteen fifties. When it's supposedly everything was just tremendous in the fifties and early sixties he was doing that in order to ensure and this was at the same time while helping to build a builder built most of the house, but my father helped build the foundation in the basement of his own house. Yeah. Right. So right. My father's still says when were these good old days? I'm everybody's talking about them. And you only had one job. He goes, I don't know that may have existed for a few people. It wasn't the majority of people is sometimes we tend to romanticize the past. Well, I mean, you know, this is what it comes down to if you look at the wages going up. And if you look at where we are and the amount of wealth, the amount of people that have been lifted out of poverty over the last several decades, it's pretty amazing to see. You know, we we are clearly doomed, and you know, I believe that. For other reasons, the expansion of wealth has lifted people out of poverty, and it continues. And Mr. Branson knows this probably better than most people when I graduated when I was in high school in the in the seventies. We were told even probably in grammer school. We were told that by the time we got to the year two thousand nobody would be working five day workweeks member would be three to four day workweeks because there would be technology would be taking over everything. Right. And even that talk came out about three or four years ago. Remember, everybody's going to be out of a job. It's going to be horrible. And and because technology is going to take over everything we've been we've been told that by the sociologist and Futurists since the industrial revolution. When we went from a what ninety nine percent farm economy and made that evolution and into an industrial economy. And as we make that shift from an industrial economy. Well, industrial industrial service, high tech, whatever you wanna call it and moved from an industrial to a combination of industrial of a high tech and service. We've been told the same thing's going to happen again where we're going to have water some of the figures that were thrown out just a couple of years ago. Twenty thirty percent unemployment right? Well, the exact opposite is happening. Again. We don't have enough. We don't have enough people for the jobs that we actually have that seems to be the problem today and were told this mistake has been made over and over again, we've been told because of technology there will be fewer jobs. Well, actually, the jobs will be different and you're going to need an education and the best jobs are if you have technical if you've got good technical knowledge and are willing to get your hands dirty. Thirty. There's still going to be that kind of you might be viewed as blue collar job was were you have to get your hands dirty because you've got your rep you'll actually have to go out and repair things humans will still be necessary to do that robots won't be able to do anything. So you have to have the technical knowledge, and the willingness to get your hands dirty, and that seems to be for the next generation or two where the great jobs are going to be the only difference is you're not gonna you're gonna you're going to have to have a more of an education. You're not gonna be able to make that money as labor in a union shop anymore, right where they can train you to do the job on an assembly line in a couple of days or a week or so that you will have to especially if you're into still get your hands dirty, but you're gonna have to continually update and continuing to go back to school and know, how technology is changing. That's what diesel tax are going through right now because the technology on on diesel. Lynch, especially class classmates have changed drastically over the years. And so now, there's I mean, you pretty much have to stay with it. But that but then what does that what has happened right now? The diesel tech shortage you, and I talked to people from the truckstop industry and repair industry, and they tell me all the time we need people. They need people that can do oil changes and some of the not so technical jobs right now. There's a big demand for that. And the pay is a lot better than it used to be eight six six ninety redeye wintertime.

"And and from this point on you call on Schumer to submit his plans for his fence. Senator Schumer has long supported having a barrier on the border folks, we have found common ground. So we're calling on Senator Schumer to submit his plans. They don't have to have all the details. But a basic outline they have all said they're for border security. We know we have weak spots in the border. What we know that Schumer supported? A barrier before in two thousand six years ABC news, and the fact check yesterday stating that I am correct on this and Schumer has supported a wall. That's basically the quote from from ABC if he was just to call it a barrier fine. Let's take a look at Chuck's barrier. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer had both said they support border security, by the way, the American public knows precisely what I want anybody. Tell me what type of border security Schumer or Pelosi wants. No, they hadn't been forced to explain to the American public. What they believe this is an hard. It's not rockets night. It is not difficult. And I know you say, well, we just need to go forward, and and build it and get it done doesn't work that way. It does. We we understand the fact that it really is simple to understand for most people. And it's ridiculous that that this is even that this is even going on that it really shouldn't be a question. This wall should be built the border patrol says they need it. That's all I need to hear right? That's all I need to hear. It's and to me at this point. Look the eventual goal is to tighten up border security. Right. And there's a number of ways to do it, including whatever you wish to call. It a fence a barrier. A slat a concrete wall double triple fencing. Whoa. Right. Then as we talked about sanctuary cities, the the concept of that than we talked about e verify than we talked about people overstaying visas, and what we do with that particular point. There's a number of issues to be discussed, and there's a number of challenges that we face that we actually as a nation Consol, but. What you have to do before you can even approach doing those things is led American that the opposition is against all of those and in favor of open borders, right? And that you have not yet done successfully the Republicans and the administration have not done that. You know, we stated when Trump was with Pelosi and Schumer he said, oh, we're all for border security got to respond saying, well, he was just being sarcastic. Was it? No, he's trying to be accommodating at that point. There was no sorry. I didn't sense any sarcasm. And now he might not have meant it. But it how it came across to the average person was okay, we're all in agreement. We all want border security, right? You might have viewed it as sarcasm from the president. I didn't. Now might have been him at that moment saying, okay, let's maybe I need to tone this download a bit. So I'll say raw for border security, but it certainly did not come across the sarcastic though. It did not I'm looking at a picture of..
