Senators Want FTC Enforcement on Autopilot

"Aren't so pretty. Nice day for tesla stock today shaking off some of the red from earlier this week. Finishing up three and a half percent to six hundred eighty dollars ninety nine cents comparatively. The nasdaq was down nine. Tenths of a percent most of that drop happening in the last hour. Two hours of trading after the fed minutes came out so the minutes from the federal reserve's meeting today indicating that they are considering tapering off their monthly asset purchases sometime in the near term but obviously those things can and often do change so the market reacting to that towards the end of trading and tesla got pulled down a bit as well so pretty strong day for automakers just across the board today so we ejected on this yesterday but will check in again today probably for the last time this week but weekday performance so far tussles down about four percent a little bit less than four percent so far and actually now doing about a half a percent to full percentage point better than gm. Ford's atlanta's volkswagen and neo so despite all the coverage of the knits investigation. If you'd just slept through the first few days of the week which is actually not a bad strategy for an investor and you just looked at automaker performances we to date. You'd have no idea that there was investigation on tesla. And you'd probably say oh tesla's having a pretty good week relative to others so markets down today tesla up and that was despite reports that two. Us senators are currently urging the federal trade commission to open a probe into whether or not tesla used deceptive marketing practices involving drivers systems features which tesla of course calls autopilots and full. "Com Back we go to rich tomorrow and Tech Tuesday rich the various platforms, particularly instagram. Facebook, made sure or what they did is stop. The craziness of the conspiracy theories, the election, all of it, and there were at least warned us that there is an issue now it's moved over to the vaccine misinformation. Let's talk about that. How aggressive are they? And can you just go on and say it's a hoax? It's a myth. If you get the vaccine, you're the government is going on plant some device and then follow you for the rest of your life. Yeah, I can get into some specifics as to what Facebook is blocking, because they say that this is kind of the next frontier. You know, we got through the election like you said, And these social media platforms are on such an uphill battle with with information because people can post whatever they want, And then it's up to these platforms to try to figure out well, how do you know what's the tone of how they're saying? Like, What if you joke right about the vaccine is that needs? Does that need to be taken down? We don't know. But Facebook is making some pretty strict rules of Now, um, vaccines, and they're basically now deleting anything that is against the vaccine. Specifically that the vaccine is man made or manufactured are sorry. Covert. 19 is man made or manufactured there, saying claims that vaccines are not as effective at preventing the disease they're meant to protect against. Will remove that It's safer to get the disease than to get the vaccine. They'll remove any posts about that. Vaccines are toxic, dangerous or cause autism. They will take down that and there's even more so they'll even take down if you try to do an event. Have you ever heard the term like a chicken Pox party back in the day? Yeah, actually, I have where he had said, Yeah. Where people got they got together to get chicken pox. I mean, crazy people, but for immunity sake Right, well, so they're all dead. By the way. I just want to let you know all those people probably. But apparently they're trying to do the same thing with covert 19 so people are actually using Facebook to coordinate events. Where the gatherings involved and encourage people who have covert 19 to join other people. And so they're also restricting any events that interfere with the administration of the vaccine. We saw that locally here it at the stadium, so that was something that happened and you know Facebook was involved in that. Let me throw something at you. You got that We talked about this. Where is the line? And so let's say I'm the director Seo one of these social platforms if a group of people want to get together and do a coat Good party. Uh, I It's not misinformation. They're not telling people that it's a conspiracy that the government caused this. Why can't they do that? Why would the platform say no to that? Well, this is a platform choice. And so Facebook wants to be a place that is, you know, known to be a good place versus a bad place. They have to make some rules. Facebook is not, you know, they're not under any sort of free speech. You know, edict from America. They are their own private platform. And so yes, if they wanted to, they could say anything goes on here. You can do anything you want. You can put up videos of people. You know, whatever you know, they take down videos of all kinds of stuff on a daily basis. The Amount of things they have to take down on Facebook. It would blow your mind and you know they have to make rules that they feel are in the best interest of their platform, and it's really tough by the way for them to do this stuff. I mean, it's it takes a team of tens of thousands of people that go through these posts, and by the way those people don't last very long. These air paid individuals. Oh, yeah, They're like third party, You know, they contract with these companies that will go through post. You know, when someone flags a post on Facebook, you know, artificial intelligence takes down some of this stuff. But then some things are just flagged by humans. And then another human has to go through and look at it. And so if it's a post of someone you know, with self harm, or you know anything that's that's happening that people are sharing pictures off. These people have to look at them and again. They don't last very long in these jobs because they can't take it and they Psychological counseling after a couple months. Wow. Yeah. All right, Rich. You're on your way to doing well, I'm not throwing you off. Well, actually, I am because coming up his handle on the news late edition, Rich on Tech got TV. We'll catch the next Tuesday. Thank you. Romney: Plan to challenge election 'egregious ploy' that 'dangerously threatens' country

"A growing number of Republican lawmakers back in President Trump's repeated efforts to overturn the 2020 election results today, Senator Ted Cruz announced the coalition of 11 senators and Senators elect who will vote against Democratic electors from states where the president has alleged widespread voter fraud. Those lawmakers joined Missouri Senator Josh Holly, who was the first to announce his intentions to object to the state tallies during the upcoming joint session of Congress. In their statement announcing their intentions today, those 11 lawmakers said in part quote Congress should immediately appoint an electoral commission to conduct an emergency 10 Day audit of the election results in the disputed states. Senators went on to say they quote intend to vote to reject the electors from disputed states. Until that emergency 10 Day audit is completed. The announcement being met with strong pushback from Democrats, including Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal, who tweeted quote this pathetic on the pathetic, opportunistic stunt is an attack on our democracy. It is un American and unconscionable. Votes have been counted, recounted, Certified and all challenges, totally discredited time to govern and get things done. Even some Republicans expressing their disapproval with those 11 senators. Utah Senator Mitt Romney, releasing a statement that read, in part, quote the egregious ploy to reject electors, man hands the political ambitions of some but dangerously threatens our Democratic Republic. The congressional power to reject electors is reserved for the most extreme and unusual circumstances. These are far from it. Mueller report recounts 10 'episodes' involving Trump and questions of obstruction

"Special counsel Robert Muller's report into Russian interference in the two thousand sixteen presidential campaign is now in the hands of congress and the American public. But while the investigation is over the nearly four hundred fifty page report is creating more questions. Bob Costantini reports from the White House attorney general bars statement based on the molar report out that while it was quite clear. Russia's internet research agency, affiliated with the Putin government trying to influence the campaign in favor of Donald Trump. Indeed as the report states, quote, the investigation did not identify evidence that any US person knowingly or intentionally coordinated with the IRA's interference operation, unquote. Put another way the special counsel found. No collusion. The report itself suggest the June two thousand sixteen meeting at Trump Tower arranged by Donald from junior with Russians claiming to have dirt on Hillary Clinton was one of many contacts studied under what's commonly referred to as collusion. Otherwise, quote, the Russian contacts consisted of business. Actions offers of assistance to the campaign invitations for candidate Trump and Putin to meet in person invitations for campaign officials and representatives of the Russian government to meet and policy positions seeking improved US Russian relations in quote, President Trump's initial public reaction was breath during an event hosting wounded warriors here and they're having a good day. I'm having to do it was called, no collusion. No obstruction. The attorney general Robert Muller handed off the idea of whether the president or someone close to him tried to obstruct Justice in the Russia investigation after finding ten potential episodes. Although the deputy attorney general disagreed with some of the special counsels legal theories and felt that some of the episodes examined did not amount to obstruction as a matter of law. We did not realize solely on that. In making our decision. Democrats on Capitol Hill will certainly try to look at those episodes further including the firing of James Comey and some of the president's tweets urging potential witnesses to not rat on him related to the obstruction of Justice aspect of the Muller reports bar over this bit of empathy for President Trump. There is substantial evidence to show that the president was frustrated and angered by his sincere belief that the investigation was undermining his presidency propelled by his political opponents and fuelled by illegal leaks. Robert Mueller lifted up. Bar deputy attorney general rod Rosenstein to look into whether the president or someone close to him could have engaged in obstruction of Justice. They decided no among the obstruction of Justice lines of inquiry Muller mentioned in the report are the firing of James Comey attempts to influence witnesses and the president's order to White House counsel dumb again that he tell deputy AG rod Rosenstein, the fire Muller Mcgann who spoke with the team for as much as thirty hours apparently refused to do. So in an effort to save the president from an appearance of structure of Justice add to that the alleged efforts by the president ticket. Michael Cohen to stay loyal once Cohen head criminal legal problems in New York Muller ends with a hint for congress to decide if it should charge the president with obstruction on the way tomorrow Lago. President Trump tweeted from Air Force One I had the right to end the whole witch hunt. If I wanted I have fired everyone, including Muller if I wanted I chose not to I had the right to use executive privilege. I didn't however the report makes a point of comment regarding obstruction. The president's to influence the investigation were mostly unsuccessful. But that is largely because the persons who surrounded the president declined to carry out orders or accede to his requests. And now it's up to congress to take the next step. Linda Kenyon, has the view from Capitol Hill. Michael if you thought it was over thank again special counsel made clear that he did not exonerate the president, and the responsibility now falls to congress told the president accountable for his actions. That's Representative Jerrold Nadler, the powerful chairman of the House Judiciary committee. He's leading one of the many investigations that will continue in the wake of the mullahs report. A report that found no collusion, but did not absolve President Trump of obstruction of Justice attorney general William bar who presented the report at a news conference was roundly criticized by many Democrats, including Nadler who said bar was far from Jek give bars words and actions suggest he has been disingenuous and misleading in saying the president is clear of wrongdoing. Nadler says the redacted Muller report is clear the President Trump. Committed multiple misdeeds report outlines disturbing evidence that President Trump engaged in obstruction of Justice and other misconduct. Senator Richard Blumenthal. A member of the Senate Judiciary committee says the misconduct on the part of the president is stunning. But that's only part of the story. Details in this report about the Russian attack on our democracy are truly chilling also calls into question, the objectivity of the attorney general Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell, one of the only Republicans to make any public comment on the release of the mullahs report depicted, the attorney general the special counsel, and the deputy attorney general as beyond reproach all three of them about as close to a-political as you can imagine strong disagreement from Adam Schiff, the chairman of the house intelligence committee. Attorney general did a grave disservice to the country by misrepresenting significant parts of the mullahs report and shift says the attorney general also blast over the actions of the president of the United States there. Unquestionably

"One of the all-time great lines in congress, one of the all-time great lines in the modern history of Washington is the fake humble brag. I'm just a country lawyer. It was Senator Sam Ervin. The guy who led the investigative committee in the US Senate that looked into Watergate he was an experienced Senator. He was a Harvard trained lawyer. There was nothing simple about him at all. But he would do this thing he would turn on this folksy country lawyer humble thing as a prologue to his most devastating to the point questions. Now, I'm just a country lawyer, but like walk me through this. Sam Ervin is the one who started that during Watergate, and you hear members of congress now use it all the time. It is Sam Ervin that they're referencing. But usually it means they're about to say something pretty good today. It was Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal. Turn with. The whole I'm just a country lawyer trip. Now, we have gotten from the attorney general of the United States. We have been so fortunate to receive. A summary of the report, you know, who's beginning to say that report is inaccurate and unfair. The Muller came is beginning to say, you didn't do Justice to our report you can provide the findings and evidence. Now, I'm I'm just a country lawyer from Connecticut. But I can tell you the law is pretty clear there is no executive privilege. Congress deserves that full report. And so do the American people you pay for it, you deserve it. The full Muller report released the full Muller report, Richard Blumenthal. Speaking in washing today at one of the several hundred protests that happens around the country today this afternoon and the evening protests calling for the release of the Muller reports thirteen days now since it was completed by Robert Muller and handed in to the office of Trump's newly appointed attorney general, and it hasn't been seen since there were protests today in Washington DC there were protests in New York City, good size protests in New York City. There were protests in Chicago and Philadelphia and Raleigh North Carolina and Albuquerque New Mexico protests from Denver to Boston to. Saint Paul Minnesota to Langhorne, Pennsylvania. And it's interesting these are not policy protests. This is not an interest group that is fighting for more attention to its cause. Which is sometimes what you see in coordinated nationwide protests where people protested hundreds of different sites. What these protests were about today is a real live active fight right now that is underway. And we really don't know how it's going to end at the DC protests this afternoon, the one where Blumenthal spoke House Judiciary chairman, Jerry, Nadler, also spoke, and he said, although we are in the midst of this fight right now. And in fact, of course, he's the one who's really leading it for the democratic controlled congress. Now, they're turned on a little bit of the history. Professor thing today. Blumenthal was the I'm just a country lawyer now they're turned on professor now, they're who was your favorite guy from US history right junior year. He told this crowd outside the White House today that we have as a country have have had this kind of a fight before that presidents in trouble. Do this kind of thing that President Trump is trying right now with the Muller report, we should expect that they will try to get get away with the sort of stuff.
