Election 2020: Arizona's impact
"Of election 2020 continues our race. Our state will the side the direction of the country for the White House and the Senate majority. That was Republican Senator Martha McSally on with Arizona's Morning news Friday, and this morning, we caught up with her Democratic challenger on Election Day Eve. There's Jeremy Foster joins us live with more on what Mark Kelly had to say. One of the first things we asked Mark Kelly Jamie in a race where polls have consistently showed him in the lead there now tightening, in fact, a brand new Data orbital poll of 550 likely Arizona voters out this morning show Kelly just 1% point ahead of MK Sally Now. Two weeks ago, the same polls showed him up over six points. But Kelly told us he's still confident. Think the only Poles that really matters when folks go to the polls tomorrow, and when they count the votes, and that might take might be done tomorrow might take a couple days. I feel pretty good. Something else. Kelly and other Democrats may be keeping an eye on Republicans of return nearly 45,000 more ballots in Maricopa County than Democrats so far on the early voting side and about 90,000 Mohr than those who are not registered with either party. But Kelly points out that a lot of support from Republicans, including former elected officials, I have the Republicans for you know Mark Kelly for Senate Group. He also words folks to be patient. If we don't see the final results on Election day, and you can tune in all day for special election team coverage right here on our and we'll begin it tomorrow at five. AM I tell you, this is going to be one watch because the Republicans have come from behind to now lead with the number of ballots already returned and their also expected to turn out Maur enforce the Democrats at the actual voting booth tomorrow, so this is really going to be one to watch it is and we we heard from the Steve Cortes with the Trump campaign today. He's in there feeling increasingly confident about taking Arizona. All right. Thank you so much. Kate. There's Jeremy Foster.

"Circus. I am your ring Master James T. Harris. It is important that we get the Senator Martha McSally in office is important that we get President Trump. A reelected in all hands are on deck. In the center ring of the Conservatives because we have Senator Marsha Blackburn and Senator Blackbird this week at the Senate Committee Commerce Committee hearing you pushed a big tech CEO Mark Zuckerberg off Facebook, Jack Dorsey of Twitter and the CEO of Google to provide more transparency to their content. Moderation practices. What did you think of their answers? Well, I was surprised that that I couldn't get a straight answer from Mark Zuckerberg about the first Amendment. You know, we had said that when you're looking at speech online, they're all these competing equities. So I can hang in the First Amendment. A competing equity and he couldn't give me a straight answer. And then Jack Dorsey, we were talking about how he has censored job by zero time. And President Trump 65 times. So I asked him if he considered President Trump a world later. Because any answer yes. But he had also said he thought world leaders needed access to his platform. Thinking of people like the Ayatollah. And ah, from Russia, But then he has not censored them at all. But he has censored our president. 65 times. It just shows you how biased he is and how they selectively sensor conservatives in the virtual space. I appreciated your questions, because, yes, it did Highlight what conservatives have been dealing with for the last four years. But the last two years intensely, and we have a lot of manipulation on the social media platforms and in our news right here, you know, in the valley right now we got Senator Martha McSally. She's the target of a lot of fake news. So you know, straighten this whole thing out with this. What do you think of Martha McSally? Senator McCallie. Is she a team player? Is she on the side of Conservative Senator Marsha Blackburn. Yes, she is. She is a great member of the Senate. I had the opportunity to also served with Martha and the house and I have to tell you she thinks about Arizona first, and she is so passionate about public service. And about Doing a good job for Arizona, attending to the problems that they have when they need tapes work help when they need help with the federal agency. When they need help getting their benefits. Martha is right there working every single day. She is one of the hardest working members of the Senate, and she has really stepped to the forefront. And is leading in this effort to hold the U. S. Senate accountable the whole China accountable Have the U. S. Senate holds accountable. She's doing a great job on that. We have the senator Marsha Blackburn in the center ring of the conservative Circus and Senator you said our yesterday Mitch McConnell, Mitch McConnell said that there is a 50 50 chance of holding onto the Senate. What odds do you give the Republicans for pulling this off? Oh, I give us a little better average has been that. I think our odds are pretty good. We're working hard. We just need that They sure people go bug. I need all your listeners to go Vote for Martha and go vote for President Trump. Those are things that are going to be vitally important and they are going to make a difference for us and you know, if people show up and vote, we're going to win. We're going to hold the Senate President Trump is going to win. After four years of dealing with the type of consternation you have in the Senate. All of the crazy predictions by Chuck Schumer. All of the I should say, I want to say demented efforts to overthrow President Trump and his administration. What would it be like? If we were able to give the president another four years We were able to at least maintain the Senate? Are guy willing? Even get the house? How would the country change? Well, look at the jobs numbers and the GDP numbers we got yesterday 33.1% growth. In the first quarter and then go back and look at what he did. After we pass the tax cuts and job Zack and 2017 and then 2019. We had Average household income growth of $4400 per household. We had the lowest poverty levels across the board that we've ever had his story closed. So if you are voting for freedom if you are voting for a good, robust economy if you're voting to be able to keep your health insurance And not be thrown into a government run system. Then you are going to be voting for Martha, make Sally and President Trump send their black but I want to thank you very much for your time of thinking for just on the trail, stopping for Martha McSally, Senator McSally and for the president, I I've got to tell you, I believe it. If if we just didn't have this whole Cove it interruption. Can you imagine what would be going on with the American economy and the world economy? It's It's amazing and the fact that we've already had this incredible historic I could say it officially historic bounce back. Even with us A couple of key states still locked up, I think is amazing. So if you want to see more of this, Yes, we need to get out there. We need to get to the polls. We need to make sure that our votes are counted. Not tell you just you'll save yourself a whole lot of headaches. Vote are straight are down the ticket will sort it out later. We've got to conservative Circus clown of the week at 7 48. Supreme Court, replacing Ruth Bader Ginsburg. U S Senate is expected to vote to confirm Judge Amy Cockney Barrett to the U. S. Supreme Court shortly. Senate Republicans leading the charge to get her confirmation completed ahead of the election. I have faith Judge Parentsability to fairly interpret the law. And apply it cases before her. Nothing less senators, including Texas Republican John Cornyn, taking to the floor before the vote, toe outline their support or opposition Delaware Democrat Chris Coons critical of the way Republicans went about the nomination process they are ramming through. For a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court. President Trump's nominee In a rush and partisan process in the midst of an ongoing presidential election. A senior White House official says. Judge Barrett will be sworn in tonight shortly after the Senate vote face coverings will be required at that event. Resident Trump is on his way back to Washington following campaign events in Pennsylvania today. "He's flirted with white supremacists. That's easy for sass to say he's cruising to re election and Ruby Red Nebraska. But Republican Senate incumbents in tough races can't do that for them, says Alex Conant, Breaking with the president is the political equivalent of a murder suicide pact. You know you need your base, plus some independence to win an election these days. If you attack Trump Ardizzone Trump and you're a Republican. You're going to lose your base. So Republican candidates like Senator Martha McSally of Arizona end up squirming like this in a debate on Arizona P B s. Are you proud of your support? For President Trump. I'm proud to be fighting for Arizona every single day. Is that a yes or a no for president legislation on President Trump's desk, So you're proud of your support? As you look at the legislation we put on his desk is to cut Arizona tax. It sounds like she is proud of her support. It's clear that Senate Republican candidates don't want to be talking about Donald Trump. They want to talk about their own records, local issues Joe Biden's faults, their opponents faults because every time a Republican Senate candidates talking about Donald Trump He risks one of two things, hurting himself with the Republican base or hurting himself with independence. But there is no upside. Republican Senator Tom Tillis in a tight race in North Carolina has gone even further. He made the kind of argument candidates make when they're convinced the top of their tickets is losing when he told Politico that quote the best check on a Biden presidency is for Republicans to have a majority in the Senate. I think you're going to Seymour Senate candidates, arguing that we really need to make sure that we re elect Republican senators in case Joe Biden is elected president. And every voter can read the polls as well and knows that that's a likely scenario. So I expect you'll hear more of that sort of language. The closer we get to the election, but and this is a very big but few Republicans, and for that matter, few Democrats are ready just yet to write off Donald Trump in 2016. Lots of Republicans and Democrats thought he would lose and he didn't And there are signs that Trump still has advantages. In the past year, Republicans have registered more new voters than Democrats in the crucial swing states of Pennsylvania, Florida and North Carolina. In Michigan and Wisconsin. There are lots of white, non college voters who didn't turn out in 2016, but could join Trump's base this year, and there are other bright spots for Republicans, says political scientist Michael McDonald, who directs the U. S elections project. We are seeing some signs that a normal democratic advantage in person early voting Has turned. Teo may be a slight Republican advantage. New Mexico and Nevada, which have started there in person, early voting periods, both party registration states. You can see that Republicans were slightly leading the in person early voting. That may not be enough to offset the Democrats lopsided advantage with mail in ballots or the overall blue tilt of the electorate this year, But those are the kinds of things that keep Democrats up at night and Republicans from despairing altogether. Mara Liasson NPR news Candidates and politicians are always looking for new ways to reach voters. Well. Last night, two House members went looking on a dark, faraway spaceship, not in really life..

"809 47 Auto This is here and now Joe Biden and Mike Pence are both campaigning today in Arizona, the state that could be critical for the outcome of the presidential election. Arizona also might decide which party controls the U. S. Senate. The incumbent Republican Senator Martha McSally, is trailing her Democratic opponent, Mark Kelly, in the polls and in fund raising that Kamina difficult road ahead for President Trump and the Republican Party. In a traditionally conservative state here in house. Peter O'Dowd is based in Phoenix, Arizona, and that's where he joins us from for the latest in our Senate track or serious. Hi, Peter. Hey, Jimmy. And let's talk about the candidates here, starting with the Republican Martha McSally, who was appointed To the Senate after John McCain died in 2018 Tell us more about Senator MK Sally and her record. Well before she was a senator, Martha McSally was a Congress woman who represented a district in southern Arizona. And I think for years you could say that she was actually a pretty moderate voice, especially on issues like immigration. And, you know, even now, she'll point out that she's bringing to the sixth most bipartisan lawmaker in the Senate, but no doubt over the last few years in the Trump era, she's taken a hard turn to the right. She even sounds like President Trump of these days on the campaign trail. In a recent debate this week, she started calling Mark Kelly counterfeit Kelly, very Trumpian nickname. And she's trying really hard to make. Kelly appeared to be tied to the radical left just like the Trump campaign is doing with Joe Biden. That said, I think it's also important to point out her personal story, which is a key to her image in this campaign. Martha McSally served in Iraq and Afghanistan. She was the first woman in U. S history to fly a fighter jet in combat and to command a fighter squadron. And Jeremy. I don't know if you remember this. She took a very courageous step in a committee hearing. Admitting that she was raped by a superior officer in the war. So Martha McSally says that she's a fighter, and I think it's pretty hard to disagree with that. Well, and her opponent has quite the personal story as well. Mark Kelly is a former NASA astronaut married to Gabrielle Giffords, who of course, has been recovering for years from being shot. In Arizona. Mark Kelly has never held public office and at the candidates first and only debate this week, he criticized the Trump administration's handling of the pandemic. We've got a serious crisis on our hands. We've got a public health crisis which spurred an economic crisis, and both of these things have been made worse by a crisis of leadership. Over and over again. We have been a step behind. Tell us more about Mark Kelly and what his campaign strategy is all about. Yeah. In some ways you have to feel kind of bad for Martha McSally because it's hard to stand out as a fighter pilot politician when you're running against another person who flew combat missions for the Navy but who also was a NASA pilot for the shuttle missions to space. But that's really not even why he's famous. Here is you said hey, is best known as husband to Gabby Giffords. After she was shot the couple form this group that called for tighter gun control measures things like universal background checks, and I think this is really where you get the sense of Mark Kelly is the politician. He's got to do what other Democrats like Senator Kirsten Cinema have had to do in the state to get elected, which is to tow a very moderate line, so he may be famous for his work on gun measures. But he's also got to say to voters that he's a proud gun owner and that he has no intentions of taking anyone's guns away. So if he is to win in Arizona, he can't get dragged down into debates that make him look like he's a deep blue Democrat. The issue of health care also came up at that debate. Here's what Muk Sally had to say. Republicans and Democrats can agree on a couple things related to health care. First is we will always protect praises in conditions. There's nobody who disagrees with that. The second is that Obamacare is failing. It's not working, and so what I'm doing is fighting for more options for people. McSally has voted to repeal the Affordable Care act, which, of course, protects preexisting conditions. What is each candidate offering on health care in this race? Yeah, You know, Jeremy, I've spoken with both Democrats and Republicans in this state who say this race has been very, very low on policy, Generally speaking, but if there is one issue that comes up a lot, it's health care. Especially in Arizona, because, of course, the state had one of the worst covert outbreaks in the world just a few months ago. So as you heard Martha McSally promises to protect preexisting conditions, despite her votes to undermine or repeal the affordable care act. She says that Mark Kelly in the Senate will mean the end of private insurance, the end of Medicare as we know it. On the other hand, Mark Kelly, again trying to tow a moderate line here, says he supports a public option to compete with private insurance. It says he has no intention of taking away private plans if you want them. So when you look at all the Senate races that are kind of up for grabs this time around, it seems like this is the one that the Democrats are most confident about. Why is that? Why is MK Sally trailing and pretty much all the polls? It's not even that she's trailing. It's that she's trailing by a lot in some cases. The New York Times CNN poll this week showed her down by 11 points, so she's been looking up Kelly the entire time and I think a big reason is demographics. The same demographic transit are threatening to turn Arizona blew in the presidential race. Are also affecting the Senate race. People are moving from or liberal, expensive states like California the number of young Latinos and immigrants voting for the first time in Arizona is growing really, really fast. But at the same time make Sally is actually doing worse than trump in a lot of the poles, and one theory is that she was never elected, You know, just a few weeks after she lost that race to Kiersten cinema in 2018. She was appointed to this Senate seat. And so she started the job with a lot of people thinking like that she had been rewarded for losing an election. And then one of the thing, I'll say is that John McCain is really still a beloved figure in Arizona, Jeremy and and while she's spoken well of him in the past, you've got a lot of heat for not defending John McCain Mohr when President Trump was railing Against him and McCain's widow, Cindy McCain. It has endorsed Joe Biden and at the same time, has said she has no interest in supporting Martha McSally. Here now is Peter O'Dowd in Phoenix. As we continue our Senate tracker. Siri's looking at Senate races around the country love another one for you next week, Peter. Thank you. Arizona Senators mcSally, Sinema don't expect coronavirus relief before November election
"Arizona's congressional leaders participated in a luncheon today hosted by the Arizona Chamber of Commerce. There, they talked about the possibility of another Covad relief Bill Gabriel Gamino is live in the new center with Mohr. It's looking good. It's very unlikely that we have a relief package before the election. Arizona's Democratic Senator Kirsten Cinemas, says a bill is unlikely to pass both chambers due to the inability of congressional leaders and the White House to work together on the other side of the aisle. However, Arizona's Republican senator Martha McSally says, Unfortunately, there's a lot of politics being played in all this and where we were able to come together. Previously in a unanimous way, it seems like there's some people here that would prefer to do nothing. If you guys are willing to join in and help because you want to save our country, I would be honored. Hey, Senator, Just just out of the blue. I want to ask you what what has made socialism so seemingly attractive to so many Americans? Not to me, And I'm sure not to you, but But what makes this so attractive? When so many failed states around the world states that you might have had to fly in a one on one time our representative of that kind of socialism, and yet it seems to have a residence here with some people. I don't understand it. Large eyes your We've many women like myself in uniform. We have been fighting against these types of radical shift. Uh, that are fundamentally out of touch with American values and our way of life. I don't understand it, and I think some of it and maybe, you know, education. People need to understand what that actually means. I think there's challenges. You do have a generation whose parents really struggled under the Obama Biden economy, And so they just see the results of it on DH there looking for different options, but we've gotta engage with each of them so that they understand that America is about opportunity about freedom. It's about equality, but it's not about socialism. It will be destructive for our country's direction and our way of life. And that takes engaging with every vote because I don't understand. I just don't understand why that's getting on in America fundamentally out of touch with who we are well and because you didn't get to be a colonel in the United States Air Force has a participation trophy. You had to earn it by merit, and you certainly didn't become a senator. Because it was a participation trophy. You had to earn it. And Americans have always been proud. In fact, most of the successful people in this country will tell you, why about all the hard stuff they had to do to get to Where they are. And now to say, Well, instead, I'd like you to just hand it to me. I would like a check every month. I'd like my housing and medical care paid for. Why can't you just pay for all of my basic necessities so that I don't have to earn it? I don't understand that. You know, my dad came from humble circumstances and his dad passed away before he was born and mom when he's a teenager, and he started working at the age of eight and through hard work and people believing in and serving the military and using the G I bill he has to live the American dream and make a better life for us kids, and he passed away when I was 12 years old. Very suddenly before he passed, he told me, among other things we talked about. You told me to make him proud. And this is what America is all about. That propelled me on a path to carry on his legacy and to meet my potential to break through barriers. This is what America is about. We have a social safety net. We've gotta support those who are in need, and we gotta have a hand up. For people to be propelled to meet their full God given potential that's what we believe that's what are what make America the greatest country on Earth. That's what others who have come here legally toe, please. Socialism and communism have come and been ableto pursue the American dream on that look on the ballot in 68 days. Senator. It is a real pleasure. Thank you very, very much. I know where time has grown tight, but thank you for your service in uniform. Thank you for your service in the Senate, and I look forward to seeing you in the Senate come January. All right. Thank God like you about you as well. That is Senator Martha McSally. She is now retired from the United States Air Force, But you should know this is a woman who II was not holding back when I said that. The Democrats did sing her praises when they saw her doing things that they thought they liked like fighting against the Pentagon because of requirements that were imposed on American women in uniforms, even though they weren't imposed on men and they were really imposed by foreign nations, Middle Eastern nations that said, If you want to send women to our country, you must have them dressed in a burka. That was absolutely unacceptable. The United States government should have done it on their own. But it took a lawsuit by now. Senator make Sally then Colonel McSally, and she said it wrecked her military career. The fact is, this woman earned her way to the top first woman in combat First woman to command an Air Force squadron and then to become the senator from Arizona. It is an admirable career, and if she were a Democrat, they would be talking about her all day long and twice on Sunday instead. Instead, they go after and they wanted to be replaced by Mark Kelly. Now you might recognize his name. He's been an activist on gun issues. He's a guy who and I remind you of this because we've talked about Mark Kelly's background before. Astronaut and the like. But he didn't even respect the gun laws of his own state. And there were times where he cheated under the laws because he wanted to own guns, But he comes from a side of the aisle that says I want the elites to be able own guns, But I don't necessarily want ordinary citizens to own guns. And I'm gonna be reminding people of that kind of background for Mark Kelly because it's shameful. It is shameful when a lead say I wanna have personal protection provided by armed men and women and the the elites and government enjoy that virtually every day that they're in office. But when they say from that elite position, we don't want to let ordinary citizens have those same kinds of protections. That should outrage just about anybody. So I'm an unabashed supporter of Senator Martha McSally from Arizona. I'm glad to see her in office. I want to see her re elected and I want to see her holding up the important You know, votes that are going to come up. We're gonna have votes on treaties, perhaps in the second Donald Trump term, We're going to see votes on whether or not to confirm federal judges, and we're probably going to see a TTE leased a Supreme Court justice, perhaps, too, and that will have to be confirmed by the U. S senate. And you've seen the way the Democrats have behaved with with a number of the confirmation hearings where they behaved absolutely shamefully, they think nothing of throwing a bucket of mud. At any nominee that comes from Donald Trump. And yet what we're getting in America is something in the courts on Capitol Hill in our laws that is going to last for the rest of our lives and into your Children's lifetimes. It is really.

Arizona is doing its part, the federal government has to do their part. Without the federal boost unemployed Arizonans received $240 a week. It's one of the lowest weekly payouts in the country. The Dissonance Between Sanders and His Supporters
"Vermont senator Bernie Sanders seems to be cruising through the first few primary states and as he scoops of delegates for the nomination some Democrats are wondering how the democratic socialist at the top of the ticket might affect down ballot races could a nominee who is so far to the left hurt those running for Congress were more centrist especially when we're talking about congressional seats Democrats flipped in twenty eighteen to take back control of the house to talk about all this we're joined now by Dave Wasserman from the cook political report welcome thanks for having me so just describe for us the argument that moderate Democrats are making why do they say that they're worried about Sanders becoming the nominee in terms of how it could affect other races in November we're hearing pushback from variety of fronts on the democratic side there are members from South Florida who are uncomfortable with Sanders's comments on the Cuban regime there are more moderate pro business Democrats from upscale suburbs who believe that his argument for revolution just will not sell at a time when the economy is pretty good for the professional work force in this country and there are Democrats who believe that a seventy eight year old Vermont democratic socialist will just lose badly to trump and take the ticket nationwide I'm skeptical that he's going to have the dramatic down ballot implications for Democrats that Republicans say he will what kind of districts would you say are most at risk in twenty twenty and how might a Sanders nomination play in those districts so right now Republicans need to gain eighteen seats to win back the house majority the Democrats won in twenty eighteen and Democrats want a variety of of different kinds of districts in the mid terms they won some seats that were more blue collar and had voted for Obama in the path Austin voted for trump in twenty sixteen those included seats in Michigan and Iowa in northern Maine there are also the seats in the suburbs that traditionally were very Republican in the past and voted for Mitt Romney that have been trending blue Orange County California where Democrats picked up four districts you have north Jersey where there's no longer a single Republican in the house those are the kinds of places where Sanders might run weakest relative to Hillary Clinton and we're Democrats will need to spend money to make the case that there are different kind of Democrat that said tell me why you're skeptical about if it were a Sanders nomination that having a palpable effect down ballot Republicans are Getty right now because they believe the Sanders nomination could give them a chance to win back house control but there are a couple of reasons I would push back on that and be more cautious the first is that voters are likely to view Bernie Sanders as an independent political entity in twenty sixteen we noticed that voters distinguish Donald Trump from the Republican Party someone and so Republicans in districts where trump was unpopular actually performed okay Republicans held on to control of the house in twenty sixteen when trump was elected in part because a lot of voters went to the polls believing that Hillary Clinton was going to win the election and they wanted a check on president Clinton or so they thought if Bernie Sanders as the democratic nominee then there's a possibility that a lot of voters who are displeased with their choices between Sanders and trump would vote for a Democrat to continue having a check on president trump well at any rate it seems that some Republican candidates now are using a possible Sanders nomination in their ads I mean you know Democrats they want to take back the Senate in Arizona Republican senator Martha McSally has already released ads tying her democratic opponent the astronaut mark Kelly to Bernie Sanders before Sanders has even won the democratic

"Military sex assault. Arizona freshman Senator Martha mcsally revealed, a superior air force officer had raped her preyed upon and then raped by a superior officer more on her story. And why she decided to come forward now with ABC Sherry Preston on the live line, Sherry what a story and this from a twenty six year military veteran who was also the first woman to be a fighter pilot to fly in combat right, exactly. First woman air force fighter pilot pilot to flying combat ninth in the ninth class at the air force academy that allowed women. She's been deployed six times she won the bronze star. But she said when she was going through the air force academy sex, assault and harassment were prevalent. And yes when she started speaking yesterday during this Senate hearing on sex assault in the military. It was very quiet. You could hear a pin drop. Her aides say that it took her days to write this because she was really hesitant over weather's not. She was going to say something, and she did say that she applauded the women who came forward to that hearing because yes, she had been assaulted multiple times. And then went to say she was preyed upon and raped by a superior officer. She says she didn't come forward at the time because she did not trust the system, and she was so afraid of retaliation. Because she saw it happened to so many other women that she felt like the system was raping her all over again. What is the reaction been since from the air force? I mean, two things come to mind. One extremely brave and to trying to hold up a code of honor for people that didn't honor her. Yeah. Exactly. The air force has has responded by saying that they are appalled. And deeply sorry for what she experienced. They say they stand behind her and all victims of sex assault, and one of the things that it should be noted Kirsten gillibrand was in the she actually brought this up. She's a Senator from New York, and she has made sex assaults in the military, one of her main issues, she has tried to offer measures that would take sexual assault cases outside of the military chain of command and give them not to civilian prosecutors. But to military prosecutors rather than to the accusers commanders. I mean, if your commander is the one who commits the sexual assault going to your commander because that's a chain of command, obviously presents a problem that did not pass. But Senator gillibrand is saying since other things have passed they have gotten rid of the statute of limitations on sex assault in the military. They've also made it a crime to retaliate against victims who report sex assaults in the military. And that's one of the main reason that women don't come forward. And report these things in the military. So it sounds like she gave us some hope that the military is changing if you know, albeit maybe slowly and now trying to dress the problem. She said that she almost stopped and gave up our eighteen year career in the military, but she remained with it. She was with the military for more than twenty years. And yeah, it did open up a lot of not only in the military, but other survivors as well. Joni Ernst, the Senator the Republican from Iowa who has recently come forward saying, she is a victim of domestic assault reached out to Senator mcsally saying, you know, we're in this together and the response has been pretty phenomenal. I mean, a lot of people coming forward saying, yes, it took a lot of bravery to come forward and say this. But now, let's move forward from here. ABC Sherry Preston. Thank you for reporting on this story. Take care guys at five fifty five money.

"The show, her monthly exclusive interview tomorrow, Senator Martha mcsally with her monthly interview, MAC and Gaydos. That's going to be five fifteen. I'm sure we're going to talk a lot about the border wall. The great wall and President Trump's end around it gets more money for the wall is Mick Sally behind the president cinema. Not so much thought that hey, we gave them money before we gave them money for the deal right wing three billion price. And that's it. And you really shouldn't do an end around to try and find more money, right? We'll see what he says tomorrow or you should just ask congress for more money instead of pulling this stuff, but like don't it out. Right. Maybe he'll go back and try to ask for more money and say he should have given me the money. I wanted to begin with. I who knows I told you, you know, they told you. I know you you you put it out in the universe. Let's see. Okay. Hey. Do you know that at this time yesterday? There was actually a plan. For teachers to have to give DNA. In order to teach in Arizona. You would have to give a DNA sample. Yeah. As of yesterday, and they had to pay for it. So so not only would I have to swap. But then I'd have to hand over money two hundred and fifty bucks. I'm not teaching forget. There. Something named David Livingston. He's a Senator Republican Bill sponsor. All right. So he's in the legislature would nothing gets done. They're the guys that said, hey, you know, that immunity that legislative immunity. Yeah. That Bill that was going to get rid of it. Yeah. It's not even getting out of. No, they never even they never. So. So something named David. Listen, basically said let let me put this out there. Let's get parent school volunteers. Let's get teachers. Let's get real estate agents and foster parents and force them to give up their DNA and also pay two hundred and fifty dollars for the pleasure. Let's treat them like a convicted criminal state of Arizona. That's exactly why I didn't like it. I'm glad you said that you are presuming that I'm going to do something immoral illicit illegal so on and so forth. I didn't like it. No. I didn't like it either. It's ridiculous. Some of the stuff that these guys come up with it. Really? It really is the. Boggles the mind. So now you said this was yesterday though. Yes. So today something named David Livingston said, I know this is hot garbage. And everyone hates me for it. And I'm getting all this crap public outcry put together a this build. It's hot garbage. Let me change it. I gave him some of my DNA, but I didn't pay fifty dollars. No, I threw it on his front door. So good for your blood. That's awesome. Now wasn't Blairite. So basically. What happened is now? He is changed his tune. Okay. So he's changing the Bill to include what okay, you need to cut off a digit or something would be better. That would be probably be better. Now it's for bay. It's it's it's for people in the healthcare industry. So he's changed it from you know, if you're a teacher a real estate agent or foster parent to give up your DNA. Let's just do it for the people who work at hacienda. I mean, it's it's it's gone down that road, okay now because of the news, I mean, we've seen this before with many other bills right texting and driving that became a big issue because the death of the Salt River police officer who killed by a texture and driver, right? So hacienda healthcare. You're going to see bills about this. We don't need the Bill. No, I'm sorry. We don't need the Bill. They did not catch this man because well, we don't have the technology, and we didn't get they got a court order. They made him submit and we call. We don't need a Bill where you have to pay because you're gonna work in healthcare. That's ridiculous. If they had the monsters DNA who rate the woman at hacienda if they had his DNA would data on file without stop the rape. Absolutely. Not. Absolutely not. I mean, they they would it would it be a deterrent? Would it make no because you know, these criminals, so yeah, you know, they don't care. They're sick backed. He could have worn a condom he could've shot. He could. Absolutely. So no, it's not a deterrent. This guy was still working at hacienda after he raped that woman. Okay. So that's what you get with these criminals. So I just don't get these legislators. I just not bright there. We really don't have bright legislators at the Zona. Let's hope this doesn't get out of committee. Let's hope this is like the meal. But I mean, you go from hey, let's make sure we got DNA from every teacher from every real estate agent from every foster parent for every pair school volunteers. Okay. Now that everybody hates me. Let's just change the Bill only if you work in healthcare because now I want to just go onto the hacienda healthcare, right? This guy is just ridiculous. Why not change the Bill again? Anyway, take it from every newborn infant from twenty twenty on. And that way about ten years you'll have more than enough DNA forever. How about coming up with a Bill that takes away your legislative immunity, your get out of jail free card. They tried that didn't even get out of. I know, but I'm just saying that would be a lot better. Yeah. All right. This probably won't pass. Let's hope. Okay. Not coming up next. Becky Lynn is around. She's going to give you some news. Hey when we come back. We want to open up the phones right now..
