To those who engaged in the acts of violence and destruction. You do not represent our country and to those who broke the law you will pay it came is Democrats called on vice President Pence to invoke the 25th amendment to remove the president by a vote of his Cabinet because he is mentally unfit and by inciting sedition, as he did yesterday. He must be removed from office. While it's only 13 days left. Any day could be a horror show for a miracle That doesn't happen. Democrats say he should be impeached and option Some Republicans in Congress are privately discussing as well, according to multiple Republican sources. WNBA players celebrate Warnock's projected win over Loeffler
"Right. Before the insurrection at the capital there was two senate runoff elections that the country had their is on in one of them. The reverend raphael warnock defeated the incumbent. Appointed senator kelly leffler in georgia. Kelly leffler for about ten years has been a partial owner of the atlanta dream of the wnba. She's now the majority owner but she's been around the team for now ten or eleven years and you may have heard her own players and much of the wnba is diametrically opposed to everything that leffler stands force. It was a very interesting situation to see everything develop earlier this week. And then how it works in the team dynamic for more on that. Let's welcome and renee. Montgomery actually a guard for the atlanta dream. She joins us this morning. She's actually rejoining us this morning a second time. She's been on with this. Good morning to you so i guess the first thing i gotta ask you is being a member of the team and understanding everything. That's going on on the floor in off the floor. What's the reaction of you and your teammates to misled losing this election. So i'm just gonna speak for myself and the reaction is. It's not even just her losing. Its rafael worn off. One and i wanna make sure that the messaging stays clear because there's some things that happened on january six is trying to take away from the fact that a black man is going to send it a jewish man from georgia's going to send it and we won the presidential race so i would say for me. It's a sweep. it's a three no sleep. So the the the feeling is happy. Rene speaking of january six. What are your thoughts on everything that occurred that day. Yeah you know. It's kinda like we all felt something was gonna happen. I was worried after november. Third ominously like when when the number started tied and we could see that joe biden. Really my win this thing you know. We all started to get a little nervous even here in georgia the aquarium shutdown coach color. They all boarded up their their buildings because we were all expecting some type of reaction and not a good one so then to see what happened on january six and see the lack of policing that was there it was it was disappointing and most call a spade a spade. It was terrorism. Domestic terrorism is the term that we should use for that renee montgomery innately. Sorry thanksgiving i was going to say what is say about the platform that the wnba has like you guys like even a month before. Colin kaepernick took a knee in two thousand sixteen. The wnba pre-game conference about police brutality. You guys were black. Lives matters t shirts before it was even a thing. Guys always been the leader at the forefront say about the platform that you guys have in the work that you guys have been doing you know. I hope people start to licking because a lot of brands. A lot of sponsors. They don't see the value in in women would say 'cause you know. I think i saw a tweet. From china robinson that said of sponsorship for women athletics how chow especially now knowing the impact that a women's league not just so a player but a whole week and have i don't understand why there's no interest but i do hope that just seeing how things transpired and how everyone to see what's going on. I hope that there is some value added to women now. Renee montgomery of the atlanta dream is joining us. This morning on keyshawn jay williams zubin were presented by progressive. Insurance and rene is with us on the goodyear hotline to robinson by the way. Espn women's college basketball analyst shaina. Yes shoutout. I want to ask you this because people may not want to go back to leffler because i think this is just so fascinating with how clear she's been in how clear you guys have been She used to be for people. That aren't aware that maybe don't follow the dream on everyday basis. She used to be a constant present. at games. a practice you'd be a team functions. He was always be sitting in the front row. She was very active owner. Obviously things have changed when she went to the senate got other responsibilities. I just wonder what your relationship is with her. The team's relationship with her you know even before the senator race i would just fear before the games. We've been to her house. Where team function. But i mean any of the players know you're not usually best friends with owner in general you know you typically would talk more to your g Even when it comes to contracts and stuff so we did see her there and we would wait and she was you know. I know that she released herself. From you. know day to day duties as she became a senator but she was president and the wnba. I know probably the letter was her trying to distance herself. Thing is how she's republican and the wnba. Is you know highly majority. Lgbt in black and brown community. So i can understand why she's trying to distance ourselves but it wasn't the case beforehand. Rene we're kind of personal discussions if any at all have you had. We'll often about social justice nine. I'm you know this was a typical owner-player relationship. So you know. I never talked to my minnesota on her about social justice. And i know that this time is is different but by the time that all of these things try Started to unfold. You know it was already. She was already too far. gone by. then how do you feel now that everything is transpired and she still co owner of the team for me and this is gonna be unpopular to say but for me. I'm sure she's not the only owner. That probably feels the way she feels. And so i hope that the wnba and hope that you know even her you know i. I've already posed the question. I don't know why he would want to own a wnba team. If you have to write a letter to the commissioner opposing. Everything that that team is standing for you know. Our team is the atlanta dream. And i don't know if people know that's from martin. Luther king's dream speech. That's how we got our name so if you oppose everything that we fundamentally stand for. I don't see how you can build a relationship there. I don't know why you'd want to be there

"There are those that continue to stick with President Trump Banking on him remain leader in the Republican Party. Are they jockeying? Well, let's the question certainly that they would have to answer, but obviously they do see some value and having the support of president and his supporters, But we also have people. Like Senator Kelly Leffler ran and lost for Senate in Georgia. She came out after the violence yesterday and said that she is not going to oppose the certification of the electoral votes. So as more daylight is put on the reality of the danger of the actions of this president. Will. Republicans will understand that that's not where this party needs to go. And that is not being Pollyannish about it That is being actual. The people we saw are not representative of the party. We had more than 70 Million Republicans come out and vote. For the Republican ticket and their voices are we're not reflected in Washington yesterday, and I think it's important to keep that in mind that what we saw was not the Republican Party. That was a small faction of angry far right supporters, and it's not reflective of the party as a whole. Perhaps a small faction fraction. But do you think that there's a third way then we've heard quite a few people float this idea of going beyond a two party system. Is that something that we can seriously consider the idea that perhaps More moderate or pro Trump supporters actually create another party. I could see Tanya truthfully, if if Trump decides he wants to continue to be involved in politics and wants to raise money and have extra grinds against people that have stood up to him. It's not out of the question or realm of possibility for a Trump party. To form or some version of that, But I've been a Republican long enough and I have enough trust in our party that it will survive this and there have been tough times and we will have an autopsy after this election and look at action items that need to be done and learned from this and grow from this. But But as I said, this party was strong before Donald Trump came and I believe took over this party and it will be strong when he leaves. There is a lot to consider and continue to examine. And the days, weeks and months and years ahead will be talking about this moment in history for quite some time. That's Alice Stewart, CNN political commentator and former communications director for Ted Cruz is presidential campaign As always, Alice, Thank you so much. Telling.

A large part of who. I am is built in all of the mistakes that i made. You know you had said something to the effect of you know you feel like you are a combination of your mistakes and near learnings can you. Can you walk me through a formative experience you had when you were young. That you feel was like an aha moment for you. Yes oh what. A lot of people don't know is that i was raised in a hebrew household as hebrew. Israelites you know. We were taught that we are direct descendants from of the people israelites. in the bible So you know you have the jewish community and then you have the hebrew community. So i i like to say hebrews or simply black jews It's much deeper for us but for the sake of explaining it So we kept the holy days we didn't i didn't we didn't have like christmas or easter that stuff only the holy days we didn't even have hanukkah so because it wasn't tally a holy day. Right so i i like to say. I'm half jewish so you get it you get it Yeah def and our family was like you get one night of hannukah like yourself right so i think you know this is something is really small but i hated it when i was a child but now i understand the beauty of it where we didn't celebrate christmas and as a child that felt really lonely but as i got older it kind of prepared me to be the oddball out and it made me comfortable like so i was in malcolm. Glad while training hours ten thousand hours by the time you graduate high school exactly exactly and we didn't wear pants so i was like the girl in the skirt who never wore pants who debt. And you know. Celebrate any other holidays and It was just like training and being your own person and values based. I exactly exactly you know. We were taught that our hope is in. God are there's something greater apart in this world that has nothing to do with politics or what we see in the natural it kind of puts you in a position where you feel a boat to Be who you are. And and not me the acceptance of a lot of people in order to do it so that was a really formative time for me in my childhood and i think as am i became an adult. Something that was really really form to me is that i got married twice before having parents who were marry for now thirty eight years and they were the first each other's first boyfriend girlfriend they never dated anyone else and their parents are right so you had that ends example of a lot of laughter. Major corporations and co founded purdue partners global trading company. Senator purdue declined to participate in this debate and is represented by an empty podium. What could be more than the read off the bio of an empty podium. The other republican running and one of georgia's runoff elections next month did show up for debate on sunday. Senator kelly leffler was asked about trump's false claim that the election was somehow raked. Do you stand by his narrative that the election was rigged and you support his demand. That governor camp to call a special session to seek to overturn those results. I i want to thank the atlanta press club for hosting this important debate and look. It's vitally important that georgians trust our election process and the president has every right to every legal recourse. And that's what's taking place. Did you believe the election was rigged. Look greg it's very clear that there were issues in this election. Still with us kurt anderson. Michael steele kurt will call that a non answer from the incumbent. Senator should democrats celebrate the fact kurt. That trump plans to travel to georgia again. Because he's so hard wired to talk about his grievances. Well now we had. I think today the third a recant though. The third count certified And showing the joe biden won the state by twelve thousand bucks. I guess because of course his his line on election fraud. So-called does not change. There is not new information. It's the same. He's got the same five seventy eight minutes of material that he's simply goes through again and again and it kind of random order. I guess he'll do that again. In georgia i mean it's meaningful of course because the the the strange line that the republicans are trying to walk in georgia is to say this was a totally phony election rigged dominion blobby blobby block conspiracy theory but you got there and vote and make sure these these two senators win to keep the firewall against by the way because there might not be a donald trump president. But there's gonna be because here's here's the president who hasn't given up yet it's madness and hand and that that the shot you showed of course of of the purdue loose the debate john asa as you say is is just politics imitates comedy life imitates art. It's unbelievable but this is where we are and and again. I mean the fact that with the chili lawford debate With reverend work. I mean the fact that she had to say thirteen times rather than the answering a question about him just your liberal radical euro liberal radical and then the non answer about whether or not this debate of whether or not the election was legitimate and joe biden. One georgia again she. She used literally the same words over and over when she was asked the question and reacted the you know. So it's one thing to to deny reality. Which is the now the necessary stock in trade of the republican party under donald trump. But you think they would come up with slightly more fluent ways to restate their unwillingness to admit the plain facts and playing truth of the outcome of this election. Michael steele do you think. Mitch mcconnell is worried about georgia. Yes i think he is. I and i think he should be well over. A million votes ballots had been requested. A vote by mail ballots been requested as so far the deadline. Was i believe monday To register to vote For the special election and by all accounts The democrats are are prepared to go in a state that they won at the presidential level in a state they should not have one at the presidential level because it is georgia but it also speaks to. What is a growing trend. Line brian. That we've talked about before that is starting to sweep in areas that were once You know sacred gap ground for republicans at election time. Texas georgia north carolina. Virginia was once in that in that. Great pantheon of republican safehouses. That's no longer the case. So as mcconnell looks around the landscape the last great the gateway to republican success runs through georgia and guess what at least one of those gates are closed and the eggs trying to prevent the other one from closing on them. And that's what this election's going to be about on january fifth
