And make some businesses think they have to leave. There's a lot of businesses are concerned. A lot of citizens are concerned. A lot of people are leaving. But I have real both optimist. Run. I believe that next 60 90 days, things will turn around and they'll be money coming into New York and the covert vaccine will be fully available, All right. I'm not going to disagree with that because I can see the path. I just puzzled about the governor's rhetoric. There. One other concern I have right now is that New York is in winter time. It's a mild winter so far, and it's not been severe, honest. But the schools are closed. John the schools, the school Children rode home in kids or suffered. They can't go outside. There's no place for them to Rome there. Their home with their moms and their moms. You know, in England, they're running stories about mental health of young mothers because they're locked into a house all day with three small Children and their husband working in the other room as best you can. I'm sure that's happening on the kid's suffering. He the kids, and it's gonna question a year of their lives just to catch up. So every kid every child is suffering a year of their life, and that The hope here is that the schools can reopen sooner than next year. Do you have expectation for that job? "Thank you very much. I wanted to talk about the recent court cases and especially the Supreme Court case with Texas and the kinds of precedent setting for election lawsuits. Basically, I'm of the opinion. I've been following these things a lot, and it seems that no one's really willing to hear the case on the merits. They basically kind of suggest that while we don't have jurisdiction, or we don't have a acceptable remedy, or the case is moved, or the person doesn't have standing. I'm kind of wondering Are they basically all saying that it's impossible full to bring an election lawsuit because it's just impossible to bring an election lawsuit on the barracks? Um, no, I don't think that's what they're saying, because if it's a case they wanted to take they would take it. I think Uh, you know, a friend of mine sent me a note after the Texas After the Supreme Court refused to hear the Texas case, and the note is Supreme Court just said that a state that cheats in a national election which screws everybody in the nation Is the only enemy that's allowed to do anything of mounted. What's acid nine? It's like saying the only person who can prosecute a murder is the murderer. His point is, the Supreme Court said. We cannot allow one state to start suing other states. "Speech days after the election, Joe Biden think black voters for helping him win the White House. The African American community stood up again. For many with always having my back on, I'll have yours. Now. There's some concern that Biden isn't making good on that promise. At least seven civil rights groups are pressing to meet with the president elect, including the end of the P and the National Urban League. They want Biden to name or black leaders to top jobs in his administration. Marc Morial leads the Urban League mark. Welcome. Hey, it's great to be with you. Thank you for having me. My pleasure. And if and when you get a meeting with the President elect, what will you tell him? So importantly way look forward to a direct communication with the president elect, and we're gonna reaffirm our interest on behalf of the community that the number of Diverse cabinet members, particularly African Americans. Prominent and every level of the body Administration Cabinet sub cabinet. As well as at the White House. You know, we want to give the president elect due credit. He chose an excellent running mate, Senator Harris. He's made an important appointment of Cecilia Rouse, his chair of the president's Council of Economic Advisors, and Linda Thomas Greenfield as U. N ambassador. But we're heavily focused. What's known as a statutory Cabinet, defense and justice and transportation and commerce and labor and hot and education and HHS, For example, that is where The important levers of power are We're going to communicate that to him, and the second thing will be communicating. Eyes our interest in the public policy arena. We need aggressive enforcement of civil rights laws. We need strong investments through both stimulus. And infrastructure plans, and we need Focus on long term issues of racial justice, criminal justice reform, police justice reform just to name a few high priorities and finally With respect to cove it we need to ensure That the vaccine is safe and effective for all people and that there is a community based distribution system. To ensure that people in our community have access to the vaccine. I guess What I'm trying to understand is if you are actually concerned with what you've seen so far, or if you're just trying to get ahead of the process, As you point out, there have been many black officials appointed to keep jobs in the Biden administration says they're not done yet. Yeah, I think it's both. And I think it's uh they've been to statutory Cabinet nominees thus far. Treasury Three rather Treasury homeland security as well as the State Department, and that's important and we do have a concern and we do want to get ahead of the process and We want to be clear that we're looking for a cabinet. When it comes to African Americans and meets but really exceeds the high water marks of the Clinton and Obama cabinets. This is a different time. And the president elect is made of important public commitment to racial justice, and I believe he's serious about that, but toe execute that He's got to have people who have lived experiences. As well as professional qualifications, along with connections to the communities that have borne the brunt of the country's systemic racial injustice. Look, there's no doubt having a diversity of opinions from all walks of life is critical in any leadership role, but make the case why Race matters so much here. Ben Carson. I'm thinking of Ben Carson, a black housing secretary. I assume you don't agree at all with his policies on many black leaders At the same time, we're saying that outgoing Senator Doug Jones, a white man would make a great attorney general because of his record fighting for civil rights. So let me say this. Van Carson is a great doctor. I never thought Ben Carson was qualified. To be secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. I thought he would have made made a great surgeon general. You made a great secretary of health. Human services. I think it was an example of picking a quote unquote black person and putting him in what some perceive to be a black position at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. And I think it was It was a mistake, and I think it was a disservice to Ben Carson. So I mean, it's important. Understand this is not just about a black face in a certain place.

"Furiously counting ballots as the nation awaits the outcome of the presidential race and braces for Possible recounts and legal challenges. The counting of votes extends past Election Day this year. With so many ballots in close races in key states, it's expected to take more time to count every vote. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris flew with people who tested positive for Covid-19
"Three positive Corona virus test today for people close to the Biden Harris ticket. Former vice president tweeting that a crew member on his plane tested positive. They were reportedly with Biden aboard flights Monday to Ohio and Tuesday to Florida. But Biden says he was never in close contact with the person and both were wearing masks. The campaign reportedly learned of this test during contact tracing after the news earlier today that Kamala Harris is communications director and a flight crew member had tested positive. Biden says he has tested negative and per CDC guidelines He won't need to self isolate. Harris, however, has cancelled in person appearances for the next few days. Earlier this afternoon, CBS's major Garrett told us he doesn't think this will likely impact the Campaign's final weeks because the pandemic is still the main frame. "Debate now concluded the one and only matchup between Vice President Mike Pence. California Senator Kamala Harris. Welcome back. Good evening from Washington. Jared Howe friend joined by Josh Cross ours well, Want to finish a thought on the conversation we were having before that break on the conversation we had with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti about the notion of adding seats that the Supreme Court and play a little bit more. For you of that exchange between Pence and Harris When you speak about the Supreme Court, though, I think the American people really deserve an answer. Senator Harris. Are you and Joe Biden gonna pack the court if Jamie Cockney Barrett is confirmed? They've been 29 vacancies on the Supreme Court during presidential election years from George Washington to Barack Obama. Presidents have nominated in all 29 cases, but your party is actually openly advocating adding seats to the Supreme Court. Which has had nine seats for 150 years. If you don't get your way, this is a classic case of if you can't win by the rules, you're going to change the rules. Now you refuse to answer the question. Joe Biden has refused to answer the question. So I think the American people would really like to know if Judge Amy Cockney Barrett is confirmed to the Supreme Court of the United States, are you and Joe Biden? If somehow you win this election going toe Pack the Supreme Court to get your way. That was a question posed by the vice president. The Senator Harris, We've heard that back and forth, discussed it with a Biden campaign supporter in Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. Let's hear from the Trump campaign, bringing Mark Slaughter, the director of strategic communications for the Trump campaign marked good to talk to you again. That's right. So one of the questions that has gone unanswered Not just in this debate Mark, but throughout this campaign is Tthe e idea. Tied to the Supreme Court is if the court were to strike down the affordable care act and arguments that will be held one week to the day after Election Day. What would happen to preexisting conditions? Thieve Ice president tonight again? Talked about a plan that is going to come out but details, timing none of that has come out. What is the health care proposal for voters that here before November 3rd. The president's been made very clear, and he has already taken executive action to make sure that people with preexisting conditions are protected. Should the court strike down the the Obama care law, and so they're going to continue to honor that pledge? The president's been absolutely clear about it, and it's something he plans to move it to to fulfill on. But he also doesn't think that Government. Health care is the answer and more broadly what they're talking about what they have been doing and taking action on is expanding People's access to private sector health care Whether it's through association plan, lowering the cost of prescription medicine. Those are the things that they're focused on doing. They know the government's not the answer. But we can take steps to make sure that people with preexisting conditions remain protected. Just to be clear. Pre existing conditions were enshrined in law right now, so any proposal that the president would would come out to replace the affordable care act would include a preexisting condition coverage and beyond that way, would there be? Is there a plan to sort of have a backstop a bridge between legislation should the court overturn The affordable Care act. Well, the president has already said, you know that his executive action is going to protect people with preexisting conditions. Should the court strike the law down, so they will be protected in any kind of transition. And and the president has made that absolutely clear from day one, and he'll deliver on that promise. Hey, mark. It's that Josh crests are here. The first part of the debate focused on the pandemic, The back and forth between Vice President Pence and and Kamala Harris in the campaign's mind is the pandemic the most important issue of the campaign. And how do you think the debate affected the deficit that the president and the vice president currently face in terms of handling the pandemic, according to public polling and perception. Well, I mean, I think the vice president was very well prepared because he's been there from day one, and he's led the Corona virus passport. He's been in the meetings. As he reiterated tonight. The president has followed every recommendation that has made made by Dr Fauci. And even and even Dr Fauci has confirmed that the that the actions that the president has taken saved lives. And when you look at the Biden plan, it's basically just a rehash. And, as the vice president said tonight, another case of Joe Biden plagiarism of just taking what President Trump is already doing and calling it his own plan, And so I think it was very strong on that. He he obviously mourned the loss of the folks who have already perished because of this virus. He's with. We're with the people who are recovering from this virus. But we also know that once again this is not an either or choice. You No, you listen to Democrats. And they basically say, if you don't hide in the basement, you're going to die.

2020 Vice Presidential Debate: Post Debate Analysis
"First, as always, when we have a debate, presidential, vice presidential or otherwise we bring in my friend Kpk political analyst Gary Dietrich, who joins us right now, Gary, Welcome to the show. They had good to be with you. And I look forward to a sharing with our callers. And perhaps even hear from them stopped on this. No doubt an important night, my friend. I think it probably is going to go down as one of the most. Important and watch Vice presidential debates. As you know, pad most people steer clear and find out which Channel V p debate it now. Not for me, not tonight. Well, you know for me, Gerry. Because we all know what happened in the presidential debate. Okay? But in the vice presidential debate, couple of things first thing I want to say is, I think we, um maybe learned a little bit more about about The candidates, and certainly one of the things I learned is it was a little different in the first one. It wasn't so testy, and that's college other names to do that, But But when, course, the moderator time, Susan Page us said to the University of Utah, where they held it, But she would say Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, And they would just keep talking as if she was not even ending it in. Both of them were guilty of that tonight. They just don't seem to follow the protocol. Anyone? Yeah, They certainly do a lot better tonight than last week. I mean, but that debt debt to me got annoying as well. But at least and then cure Point Palace is very well taken. It was a far far more substantive debate. Because again last Tuesday, a good third of it. You couldn't even make out what people were saying, because they were talking over each other so much. And then when that wasn't happening. I know the third of it was nothing more than name calling and accusing each other of stuff, right, right. I thought substance substantively. Far better. I know we want to dive into that. But I just think you know a farm or just say, I think helpfully conducted debate that we saw last week. Why a very extensive notes that I took care of it. Let's go to your notebook first. Gerry, what did you take away from this other than the things you've mentioned? Where there's wasn't much name calling, and it was a bit more substantive and it was in certain areas. But I tell you one observation I haven't we continue to have When it comes to politicians. They have an absolute art of avoiding questions, Gerry. It's amazing. It is an amazing talent. You know, sometimes it's so funny because it gets so extreme that they literally launch up on something completely unrelated. To what the question everyone's right. Never even come back, even attempt to do it right. You know, there's the art of bridging, which is you start with an answer that's related question, and you'll really get it. Bridge to something that you'd rather talk about. But somebody has just said I was just like, okay. Thanks for Thanks for speaking. I'd like to say this. All right, let me let me tell you one impression, and I came away from more generally. That and part of this is the nature of being an incumbent III, The vice president, who is currently in office, and part of it is and I have to say this, I felt like in this moderators case. Not a fair and thorough job of taking to cast. Some of Harris is history in elected office, which is extensive and buy even more, so I felt like the vice president Was on the defensive for most of the debate, particularly early on And and I felt like there could have been far more balance in saying, Hey, Well, you know the questions that's been raised about, you Know, X Y Z. When Joe Biden was in the Senate, we didn't hear anything about his voting. Many, many years of voting record Senate nor, frankly, honestly, really any kind of a hardball question about the years service vice president nor really questions that even within our own party have been raised about Senator Harris to me. I had a sense in which the questions themselves. What? Adequately reflective off some of the challenges that have been raised about those who currently or seeking the office. Not holding. I'm glad to hear you say that, Gary because I'm sitting there and I'm listening, and I'm listening very carefully in the moderator moderator plays a big part in this and you're absolutely right. From my perspective. I felt the same thing. I thought the questions were slanted. Um, the through the entire time all the way up until the end when we and I remember the presidential debate, Gary, I remember how the ending they manufacture this question about if you were to lose the election, Mr President, and would there be there smooth transition of power, and then we hear this. We hear this Susan page tonight at the end, and she asked both of them, and it's a slight on the president. He never said he was not going to leave the office piece. We never said anything like that. And there she is pressing this. What I consider to be a manufactured question about what's gonna happen. How would you handle that? Mike Panzer. How would you take? What would your response be? Comma Harris, you and Joe Biden. I am in total agreement. I thought that the questions were slanted, Gary. Well, and you know me, Pat and our listeners have known me for 20. Plus years on the station. You know, I I call them like I see him. I don't care what it was all going on, or Jerry about who was it doesn't matter in the national level, the exact game way, But I really came away feeling that And then there was and I do agree with you about that last question. Frankly, it's the only one she was able to oppose the moderate, she said. She had time for related to election integrity, and I really expected her to go to the integrity of the mail in ballots and these other questions. You know, our How long is the process could be could be drawn out. Could there be expensive court challenges. So take the time to go about whether the president's going to leave or not just seemed odd to me, particularly when everybody from Mitch McConnell on down it made utterly clear. That the president will be leaving if he gets voted out. Anyone if he isn't saying another thing about a question that I really found and I don't know how to use a word except disingenuous. It was the question about When Amy Cola coming back, so just highlighted? Yes, taking up picking up next week and it was about it was about what would you do? And it was a long and convoluted way to get to the Abortion question. What would you do that Mr Vice President in your home state of Indiana, if you'd get if you get approved, and if they throw out will be weighed. And if it goes back to the states, then what would you say Indiana should do what I said. He's not the governor of Indiana anymore. He's going to have absolutely no say in that policy making decision. It was so convoluted odd to me. I felt why don't you just ask you a few pro life or pro choice? Because that's really what the heart of your question is? Absolutely it is. And I believe the American people can see through that, Gary. I really do. Even if your vote he made up your mind. I mean, it's pretty obvious that you can see what's happening, and there was another point there. Where they were talking about late term abortions up until the last day and and pants and asked, you know about that. And there was no answer from Kamala Harris. There was no it was a redirection. It was abridging as you say, Hey, also asked if Judge Amy Kona bear it was going to be appointed. Would you be filling the Supreme Court room? She never answered it. He says to her. I want to make it very clear to the American people. I want them to note that she never answered the question that she says. Well, I'm gonna answer the question right now. Now I'm going to answer. The question can never answer the question. Never, and I listened. I was waiting for that. You know, I was waiting for the answer. It never happened. Yeah, that that and that is a very important issue. I mean, if there's three issues that people are very concerned about it last night, I happened to moderate a debate on I was in debate was a candidate forum of a number of different off was honored of moderate and you know, Congressman Tom McClintock. Well, Yeah, he he was headlining that candidate for him and added, he laid out very eloquently is senator as Congress. McClintock often does what he perceived to be the three major issues going report and it wasn't anything about specific foreign policy or even economic policy was packing the Supreme Court. It was about whether the filibuster is going to be thrown out in the Senate so that whoever has the majority will have complete and utter control. And and thirdly, whether state who is going to be granted to particular selected entities like Puerto Rico like Washington, D. C. That would then begin to quote unquote packed the Congress. And these are very, very significant issues for the future of the United States and our governmental process. None of that was raised tonight and to your point pat, which I think is well taken. Senator Harris refused, and there's no way to get around that refused to answer that question. And I thought that was very telling that you know that issue, which is a very central one right now and could have ramifications for many, many decades become was not answered.

So that's something that we have to continue to do is ask for change and you saw that in in Joe Biden's statement saying what what is it? What does police perform look like what his RIA manage reimagining police perform, and that is banning Chuck Coles really addressing Excessive Force and and talking about no knock warrants in a way that we can change that. So that is we have to meet the moment that were in and what Comal Harris was laying out is the contrast the contrast between Joe Biden Comma Hairs Donald Trump look look lawrence. We when the sun rises tomorrow, we will be forty days away from this election. And I know this sounds cliche and I know this is why people may think it's hyperbole but this is truly truly the most consequential election of our lifetime really generations because yes, we are in this pandemic of of of health care and this economic crisis. But also as we were just starting as as you started your show, the civil rights movement really in. This moment the largest civil rights movement in generations and you see a president that just continues to divide us and also justified us with hate and so that is what is at stake. Everything is at stake on this election. So yes, we have to continue to ask for justice but we also have to have change and that is something Joe Biden talking. About, from the beginning of this of this uprising that we are seeing the street that has been put mostly peaceful because we need to hear that message, which is we have to uproot systemic racism that is incredibly key in trying to change what is happening, and so you have to start doing that.
