"Good Morning America. This is the cats roundtable drunk cats Matisse here, Sunday morning. We are now going to the state of Pennsylvania. We assist morning as Senator Bob. Casey, Mr. Casey has dad was governor for many, many years in Pennsylvania, he became a US Senator, and I believe two thousand and six and since then he's been going to Washington. Good morning, Senator. Casey. How are you, John? Great Chevy went there. Good morning. Now, there's so many issues going on within the state. There's so many issues going on with in our country. We didn't state first of all, I understand you and Senator Toomey took on challenge where there was a report that four hundred nursing homes nationwide were delivering sub standard care, and it took a democrat. An-. A Republican working together to bring this everybody's attention. You wanna tell us about it. John. Here's what the origin is in. It's good to be working with nine colleague, Pat Toomey, we, we don't have enough of that kind of working across the island Washington, but the origin of this is a program called the special focus facility program, that's a long were long named for program that focuses on nursing homes at its you indicated are delivering sub-standard care. It was started years ago, Goss thirty, but thirty years ago to focus attention just to be a center that across the country, we got about fifteen thousand seven hundred nursing this program of more more, frequent inspections, more frequent surveys, as they call them comprises about three percent of those fifteen thousand seven hundred so a small fraction of nursing are causing a lot of problems both nursing job. But here's the problem when the program didn't have enough money. They decided. To focus only on some nursing homes, on that sub-standard list, but not all of them. Unfortunately, the, the, the, the or these a group of nursing homes were. So both candidates, that's kind of a term that the program is in other words, their delivering sub standard care. They're kind of on the list and offense but they were keeping that list secret. They're only focused on little more than eighty homes and instead of adding another four hundred so they were not making public the list of four hundred some so if you were in a. On the list, if you, you had a loved one in nursing on the list of eighty or so you would get information about how their sub-standard here, and you would want that information on these. But if you're in another family, and zero on the list of four hundred also delivering sub-standard care, you would not be told that because it wasn't made public only the fence knew about the state knew about it in the facility. Knew about so Senator Toomey, and I kind of blew the whistle on that, and we forced the center on Medicaid, and Medicaid services. So C m s we asked CMS to make the April list public. So we got that done. But then we said, well, that's not good. Now what about the upcoming lists? The list for the month of June, July of going forward, CMS announced just yesterday, or I should say a few days ago that they agreed at this moment to release the list every month. Which is good news. So they're going to release, but beyond this list. There are problems with this program special focus facility program, as I said, a federal program that focuses on sub-standard nursing homes. We gotta fix those, those problems with the program, so the program works, well, so that more families can get basic information about nursing home that their loved one, is it? So even though we're always charter about three percent of nursing homes, one that silly caught a lot of damage to a family or many games you. Listen news, another issue on child here. Chris in Pennsylvania. You wouldn't tell them already Mike that John one thing I've done a lot of work on the last couple of weeks, especially if it's an issue of workout so awhile, but the last couple of weeks, I've been traveling the state sitting down with the parents, usually, the mom and sometimes the mom and dad, but also childcare, workers people. That work in, in childcare centers, across state, and the same is true in New York state, a lot of other states, and there are a couple of prompts, our number one is the parents often have trouble affording, the cost of childcare, sometimes childcare could crossed fifteen percent of your budget twenty percent twenty five percent that, that cost keeps going way up every year. And it's like it's like many costs that middleclass family face, or people that are trying to get to the middle. But they have high healthcare costs, high tout their cost high costs for prescription drugs, high cost for college name. So their wages haven't grown much in the cost way, one of the biggest costs is child care and what we don't wanna have happened in unfortunate is happening now is, we don't want families, choosing childcare facility based solely upon the price and other words, only deciding on the kind of civility or or placement for their child. So they'd get to work every day. Based on. On the cost. Because guess what? Sometimes the lowest cost place has the lower quality. We wanna make sure that more and more children across the country. Get high quality childcare because if that happens they're gonna learn more now than earn more lay that they're going to be better -ployees. They're going to be more productive citizens. They're gonna help everybody. So when we have parents, choosing low cost, but also low quality child care. We're all so it's, it's bad for our economic growth because that that child, when not have the care learning needed a very young age. So what we're trying to do is push legislation to do two things. One is to introduce a Bill, which is been already introduced to cap the cost of child care for families that are that are not only low income families, but a lot of middle tests. It's well, we also want to make more investments in early learning as well as paying the childcare worker more. Because they're often highly trained alley educated teachers in a sense, but they're in a childcare setting. But they're providing not just care. We know the good. Childcare is the old bottle, which was, which was kind of just taking care of young children and babies. Now there's a lot of learning. So we wanna make sure they can they can make a wage. So we get the best workers possible lesson. We're doing is pushing my legislation to provide a more much more generous child independent care tax credit. That's an existing tax credit and around for a while. So, but a lot of middle class family, your aren't getting the benefit of it, and it's not really helping as it should. So we're trying to enhance that, that more generous so middle class families have the benefit of that. Childcare extra Lynn? Senator, let's move onto Washington. I hope the in the US Senate that the rest of the centers are working as well as you and, and send it to me, as of os to be working together with how is Washington going? Well, John, not as it should I, I will say that this probably a general rule, and some people may doubt this. But I think it's, it's generally true. There's more bipartisanship, then gets reported or meets the eye, so to speak. But there's not nearly enough of it so on the so I won't dwell on the good news here because because there's a there's a lot we talk about. But every day of the week there are bills, that are by partisan in initiatives to get past and move forward that are by part of some good examples of that the last year where it was a spending Bill about a year ago now little more than a year ago where the defense folks came a general then. Secretary Mattis, former marine General Mattis, that do we need an increase in defense, and both parties kind of their heads said we want to work for down that. But the democratic side we said, well, let's try to make some investment in, in boost spending, and some others like national institutes of health for medical research, like childcare, the issue we just talked about so issues like that. The good news is both sides. Once we got some great new investments in education and care. Childcare as well as medical research, but we also got a huge increase in defense spending that was needed to be country safe. But that kind of bipartisanship doesn't happen. And I'm hoping that it can for example, John one issue that I know your listeners worry about a lot of ask about healthcare, and we've had some, you know, big battles about that. But if we could set aside this big battle, that's where someone get rid of the, the existing law. Affordable care. They want to undermine the Medicaid program and things like that, or, or niche or steps like that if they if we could set that fight asides, we're not gonna do that, now we're going to work together to lower the cost of healthcare, low, the cost of prescription drugs and focus on what we can do invite part fashion, 'cause I don't know about you, but I bet you hear the same thing that I hear people, whether they're Democrats or Republicans, whether they're liberal conservative, no matter where they're from. They talked to me all the time about why can't you guys work together to get healthcare cost. So that's what we should be doing instead of fighting every day of the week on health care. But I don't I I try really hard when the other side, tried to try to have the Medicaid program, which is helping a lot of kids with disabilities, and helping our seniors get nursing homes. But if they if they if they propose something positive, I'll certainly I agree. It's been the flu. Mm soon scene. I guess, once the highest prices that they can get has been the biggest lobbyists in Washington. I think that close to the top. How do we get oh, you know, round will this where the lobbyists are acted just giving money up? Well, John Petre finger at a major problem, I hear about this almost as a probably been more frequently that I hear about healthcare across, but they're, they're, they're very close in terms of the numbers of people talk about the cost of prescription drugs, way, too high, these big pharmaceutical companies have to do more to get the costs down. I do think though, I don't want to be too optimistic here because we're still talking about Washington, but this year, especially you've got the Senate finance committee on November the finance committee, where you have the, the Republican Chuck Grassley and the democrat. Run, why the two of them have have had a number of hearings prescription drug, plus the other committee, the health education committee, that I'm remember, we've had hearing on this issue as well as the as in committee. Tim also member of so this is a big issue. It's a bipartisan concern. Republicans worry about care about it and Democrats do as well. And the administration has made proposals the secretary of health and human services. Mr. as our has made proposals and these, he's made some that, that we may not agree with. But at least he's making proposals at least he's coming to the table with ideas. So I'm up to mythic that this, this issue is going to get a good airy, and I would warn the, the big companies out there that people want to crossed of their prescription drugs to go down at the counter, and they're not gonna wait any longer. They're not gonna wait another five years for. Solution. So I think the, the committees and members of the Senate on both sides are going to be working on this. We may get a Bill that is comes out of the committees are retained committee in the month this month of June. I sent to believe Casey, thank you so much for coming on show this Sunday morning..

"Your son. Rented a car and they found the drug stuff in it. Would you be contacted? Would they be contacting him with the police have been contacted? I, I don't know. You'll have to ask, blue-collar Joe who's never worked outside of the public sector. So those are two things we're going to you might have been hearing that for the first time, but understand this is the Rush Limbaugh show. So the Rush Limbaugh show sets the tone. There's also a video game that came out. It's a horribly violent video game. And what jumped out at me? Is the news media? Picked up on it. Because first of all, this is wrong. I don't like any of those games that kill innocent people. So before anybody emails me or messages me, I'm on Facebook at Ken Matthews. Okay. Belief you're talking about those games. Please don't. Because I think some of those video games are too brutal. There's the grand theft auto thing where you're running around, and you just shoot anybody. It's I don't like that stuff. But if you wanted to get the news media's attention now you have it because there's a new video game out. It's called sniper three D assassin. And it urges players to kill journalist. So now the journalist are upset. Now, people were shooting at baby carriages in grand theft, auto and breaking into jewelry stores in another tactical game. And I forget the name and killing everybody there, the news. The news media was busy on what Trump was having for dessert. But now a video game is driving to media locations in the video game attempting to harm journalists. And they're like this is an outrage. I can't believe people are attempting to harm us. First of all, don't do that. It's wrong see, I have to say this because we have a news media, that still thinks when President Trump in the debates was joking about the emails with Russia, it was legitimate. So please. Nobody should be violent toward anybody. There's no reason for that. And there's too many violent video games, but it is interesting that it takes a video game that targets journalists for journalists to get interest interested in it. Eight hundred two eight to twenty eight eighty two so we're gonna go a little deeper with Biden and Biden was in Pennsylvania yesterday. And as you know, Biden was born in Scranton, and the last time he lived there was six decades ago. So he's an expert he's going to be playing the Scranton card, and there was a big crowd last night. And President Trump never fails. To outdo the last speech. And that's why he's so addicted to listen to whether you love them, or you hate them every time he does a speech. Somebody says, well, you're never gonna top that is too. You're never gonna top that the, the audacity the truth, the targeting the made up names. Maybe you heard month ago, Senator Bob Casey now in Pennsylvania, and I'm from Pennsylvania wasn't born there. I want to be clear about that and I'm not running for anything but I did spend over half my life. There. Almost thirty years in PA Senator, Bob Casey in central PA. We call Senator Bob Casey Pennsylvania's sleepy. And we call Joe Biden groping so a month ago, sleepy endorsed groping and the reason I wanted to go in that direction, I wanted to make kid-friendly because sleepy endorses groping you see that I don't have to tell you, my real feelings about Joe Biden, or Bob,.

"Five fifty KFI. You are listening to the conservative circus. I your rig Bassett James t Harris, the border battle is is raging on. But you know, I gotta tell you. And I believe I've been consistent with this is only Tuesday. So I came back on Monday with this after reflecting on it over the weekend. But the president has been talking about border security for three years. It is part of the reason why he was elected to be president of the United States. And the reality is that if he were not president of the United States, we would not be talking about border security or anything that was said would not be taken seriously. We had George W Bush who was actually trying to put up a fencing. When Obama was elected they stopped erecting fencing. It's not that expensive. So you have to ask what is why are the Democrats so dead set against having a strong border? And why are so many Republicans establishment Republicans because let's be serious. If Paul Ryan was for real. We would have the funding for the wall. The president would have twenty five billion dollars to build America's security fence wall. Whatever. There are factions among us that believe in open borders. It's as simple as that. I think of open borders is national suicide. That's where the battle is. There would be nothing said about this. If Hillary Clinton would have won the election, but she lost. So President Trump has been genius in keeping this front and center for years now with this government shutdown. I do believe that we're going to get something. Are we going to get everything that the president wanted? No. But we're going to get something and to to to to to to support this to kind of bolster this view. Here is Senator Bob, Casey, democrat, Pennsylvania. What do you think about this comment? If a deal comes to you that includes some money for a physical barrier offense, not a wall, would you vote? Yes. And what's your what's your colleagues? Yes. Jim have already voted that way. From the record.
