Pat Toomey: Joe Manchin Was Taken to the Cleaners

"Joe Manchin who, as you know, last week, finally yielded to the pressure of the Democrats, he caved to Chuck Schumer, and has agreed on another massive spending bill. He made the rounds yesterday on all the Sunday talk shows. Trying to explain his position now, it's a tough one to explain. And some of them, some of his colleagues aren't buying it, for example, senator pat toomey. He's Republican for Pennsylvania, as you know. He criticized this new climate healthcare tax package that senator Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer unveiled last week after Joe Manchin decided, well, maybe I do like spending money after all. In an interview with face the nation, to me suggested that mansion was taken to the cleaners. In this inflation reduction act, now you remember that the very reason that Joe Manchin did not support the build back better program last year was because he said that he was afraid that additional federal spending would fuel inflation, which it will. We know that we've seen it. That's why we are where we are today because of the trillions of dollars in the name of COVID that Joe Biden and our federal government has spent. So you would think that Joe Manchin had learned from

The bill establishes a minimum corporate tax reduces prescription drug prices and investments in clean energy among many other things. Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer. Throughout these last few days, every senator I said, please don't offer this amendment. Don't vote on this because it could pull apart the bill even though you might need it just about every single person cooperated. All the Republicans voted against it, including South Dakota's Mike round saying it tells drug companies how much Medicare will pay. This is where the federal government literally walks on in and says, if you want to provide any prescriptions here, we will tell you how much we will pay period end of story. And if you don't like it, there's a huge, huge tax burden that we will inflict upon you. This is not healthy. Senator rounds, the bill goes to the house. How Democrats Like Schumer Incite Violence, Then Look the Other Way

"During the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln made this striking observation, he said, must I shoot the simple soldier boy who desserts? While I must leave untouched, the wily agitator who induces him to desert. So what's Abraham Lincoln talking about here. He's talking about instigation. He's talking about incitement. He's talking about, in this case, Democrats who were urging union soldiers to not participate in the Civil War. And we hear a lot these days about incitement about instigation. Of course, the January 6th committee starting well tonight is going to try to make its case. A rolling the stone up the hill, so to speak, the Trump somehow instigated January 6th. It's a little hard to show because all those people came to D.C. and Trump's speech was on that day itself so the people who were there with regard to the capital of what Trump said was completely benign, let's march peacefully and patriotically. There's no incitement there. By contrast, I want you to listen to this statement by now Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer. Listen, here we go. I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind. And you will pay the price. Now, what could be more incendiary than that? There's a kind of a double effect to watch Schumer saying number one. He's trying to strike fear into the justices themselves, essentially calling them out. Hey, Kavanaugh, hey Gorsuch. So he's threatening them directly. And then second, he's telegraphing to the extremists on his own side. The antifa types, the kind of fanatics on the left, and there are obviously plenty of those. So what you have here is a the leadership of the Democrats. Guys like Schumer are calling on the paramilitary fanatics on the left to then make good, if you will, on their

A Roadmap to 'Rescue America' with Senator Rick Scott

"This document that was composed by senator Rick Scott from Florida. I asked our team, I said, do whatever you possibly can to get him on the show. And it's really good. We went through it previously. It's an 11 step plan to rescue America. And some of it is stuff that you would expect out of kind of a Republican plan. But there's some really creative and good ideas and some strong philosophical basis for a lot of it. And the architect of that and the man that wants to get the Senate majority back is senator Rick Scott from Florida senator. Welcome back to the Charlie Kirk show. Charlie, it's great. It's great to be with you. I'm really worried for a country that woke up to just, I mean, they've taken over this whole country. I mean, they control the media, they control their culture, they control our government, the Democrat party, the entire federal apparatus. So we've got to, you know, you do it every day, but we got to fight back. And I think to do it, you got to have a plan. You got to say, hey, what am I going to do? What are my marching orders? How do I get there? What's going to change this country? And so that's why I put out a plan. There will be things people agree with, some ideas that they might have better, but I'm going to bust my butt to make sure we do something to turn this country around. Well, I love it. So let's go through it. Piece by piece. We can lead whichever one you want. But the one that really struck me is the emphasis on education on how you want to empower parents and really kind of build this parents party. Please, let's go from there. So let's start with what. So I grew up I grew up I was born to a single mom. We lived in public housing, but here's what she told me. She called me Ricky, which I didn't really like that much, but she said, she said, Ricky, you can be anything because you grew up in this country. Now, the country I grew up in, when we went to school, when school started, we said the Pledge of Allegiance. We saluted the flag, all right? We were taught that this was the greatest country ever created. I think we got to get back to that. And then we got to get back to our education system and education system that, you know, we're taught about reading and writing and arithmetic. That's what I learned. And the way to make sure

"For the time this redistricting process is underway. The new york state senate has some of the worst gerrymandered districts Anywhere as you. Well know yet. There's a independent body. That that's crafting maps we've been covering this very closely got Of course but i'm wondering if you as a as a senate leader and having been through what you've been through seeing gerrymandering trying to keep you out of power. Are you looking at this. As an opportunity for the senate to secure and strengthen its democratic majority how are you thinking about the redistricting process. that's underway ker. And when i first ran for senate in two thousand four there was sixty two senators iran against the republican incumbent and the district that i ran for the thirty. Fifth district was a rectangle. It made sense now. Especially after the last redistricting effort that the republicans were able to do after the twenty ten election. My thirty fifth senate district lit is these smiling profile of an old man with the scraggly beard. I named him. Oscar white rock green. I share with senator shelley mayer of most of westchester. But we have three cities between us and it's become kind of laughable. What's happened. They also added a a seat again. There are now sixty three senators. So obviously you know. People have played lots of games and lots of things in order to keep power. Frankly we don't believe we need to do that again. I think if we do the right thing in the right way the right thing will happen with all of those machinations. I have a super majority of forty three members. I have no reason to think that if we just did the right thing in the right way Because of the that new york being new york because we are good at governing and because we have a statewide approach we will continue to grow our majority. So that's my prediction and we will be able to do it in a way. That is respectful of our voters. All right we will leave it there and we will indeed check back in with you in the coming weeks and months but State senate majority leader andrew cousins. Thanks very much again for the time. It's been a pleasure thank you..

"And to the extent we can legislate we do and again. We do a lot of work with the assembly. Clearly we've been able to pass more bills together on a variety of things over the past few years the mean usually between eight hundred thousand bills that we agree on. So it's not like we're not talking and we're not on the same page for a lot of things but this has always been our priority. And i think we've made a clinton continues to be especially since in so many ways. The ethics of of people in government is being questioned the challenge. We're on our last few minutes here on max politics with a state senate majority leader under stewart cousins. Thanks so much again for taking the time here. I'm just a couple more questions There's so many so many issues. I wanted to ask you about the. We'll we'll talk to you more down the lineup back. I'm glad you also just gave us speaker. Hastier reminder to come on the show in may because will will be extending that invitation again to him So be one other thing. I wanted to ask you about under that umbrella. That i just mentioned was. There's there's a number of bills related to gender based violence harassment workplace issues. There's many but one specifically is extending the the human rights law to all of the staff of elected and appointed officials and making sure that all all are covered by that law. Is that something. That's on your radar. Is that something. That's on your agenda. Had the scandals that have occurred You know put that bill which in chambre believe as senator Higher on your on your to do list at all have been any discussions around that you know Instead there's always discussions about making sure that the human rights laws and the protections wherever they way with sexual harassment toxic workplaces. That there's always the conversation about how to make sure that people are respected in the workplace and protected in the workplace. Exactly what to do and where to go so they feel that this is not happening for them and so i can assure you that we will continue to look at that any other Appropriate legislation that continues to underscore that we value people's work we value workplace that allows for you to do your best work and when you do your best work and when you were regardless of a of who you are you will be protected so yes there will be continued conversations on that and we're obviously talking just after as you mentioned very early in this conversation the devastation from hurricane ida that new york There's there's been talk for either of course about next steps on climate policy resiliency questions about following up the Landmark climate leadership and community protection. Act of twenty nineteen Is the state senate planning anything. There's obviously bills ready exists. But but anything that you can tell us about..

"And so i am looking at the the j. cole and and whether or not it should remain and and you know how how it agency quote unquote like or how a body like. That should really work in. Serve the public in the best possible way. Is i on our list of priorities. So yes sir. That has has really continued to be something that we are focused on. And i think you're going to see changes. I mean you've already seen changes in terms of j. cole roof alarm and and you know member appointments. And we're we're we're really really very very much interested in making sure that people trust government man. I believe our behavior around these issues will make a difference and as the result of these these other investigations. As you said. There's the book deal there. The the bridge deal is the priorities in terms of testing. There's all these other things that are out there now. Of course the attorney general is looking into his still other jay talking so we will continue to monitor these findings. And to the extent that legislatively we can put forward some solutions and some safeguards and and and guardrails. We will continue to do that. I think people have come to to find the senate. Is that body that that does it and we do earrings along the way right you. Just a hearing jacob the joint commission on public ethics that you mention and what you just said actually ties into my next question on the subject which is state senate majority did pass. Major jacob performs this past session. The assembly did not. There was no Legislative you know agreement on that and then there was obviously no three way agreement with the executive branch. What are you know. And this seems to be a pattern where the state senate is a little ahead or a a lot of head of the assembly on on ethics and other reform issues. How do you get the assembly You know sort of up to speed more on on some of these issues. Well you know. I mean i have enough to get the Work that we have to get done done. I believe that the speaker is You know working with the assembly in order to get what what they feel our priorities. I really suspect band that you be having this conversation with the speaker you can so that if you wanted an answer to that question you would be able to get that but for me again. We were well together Our our senate even when we were in the minority remember have always certain things that we that really is our brand and these kind of transparency issues the ethics reform me when you talk about hearings and sexual harassment. I mean when we looked at the fact that nobody even done any earrings like learning decades. Mean that's what we do so we're very very proud of our brand and and we're proud of the fact that we don't say one thing and do something else because that's of a brand as well that we we say we mean we mean what we say..

"A time that you in your district listening to your constituents going to events responding to their emergencies on the ground where you continue to have hearings and by the way our senate majority has had more hearings in the time that we have been in are probably The previous senate majority had in its history. I mean we are well over on your hearings. we're having hearings continually on the things that are most important to new yorker. It's all over the state. So i don't think anyone should think that because we are not in albany. We're not working. And i do believe it's important. That we do have a protracted amount of time in our district in order to really be connected to the people that we are representing any issue with governor. Hoke not getting to have senate confirmation of of the nominations that she needs for you know for her administration and you know certain boards in such to move forward until january. She's going to be putting some names forward of course She's already announced to. She'll be nominating for the department of financial services. There had been some some criticism on the left foot about her nominee there but Any issue in your mind about about that lag on the confirmation process for certain appointees lets you see. We were able to move to confirm the the nominations to the cannabis control board. We knew how important that was because we waited a long time. The previous governor had an opportunity to make those nominations did not make them and this is a brand new industry that really requires the positioning of the leadership so that we could get the industry underway so as you can see we were able to to make those confirmations and get it done for the remaining Appointments that she will we have. I think she herself said that. She wanted about a forty five day period because she wanted to assess the talent that is currently in place. She's got to figure out whether or not the the way things are running are are running the way she would have them ron. She's gotta figure out who she would want in these positions so she herself is. I'm i'm very clear about needing an appropriate amount of time in order to make these assessments in the intervening days weeks months. Go she has the ability to make people acting they can act in many cases were months at a time and we certainly will be able to Pick up the nominations when we come back. But i think for her. It gives her an opportunity to take a look at at what she needs. Who has Make sure she's fielding of the appropriate candidates for the appropriate jobs. Have nothing lost. I said in the case of marijuana because of the whole new industry all new department. It's not like all these other agencies and frankly have been running and and will continue to run while the leadership is being assembled right right..

"The best state never in the nation and will mostly look forward here of course but in terms of any reflections. You've had about Governor cuomo leaving office his tenure at obviously coincided with you being the minority leader and then becoming the majority leader there were very tense relationships between governor cuomo and members of the legislature. It wasn't always that easy to get a real feel for your relationship with him. I mean i think that's impart due to how you carry yourself and try to not let any personal issues bleed into the public policy realm but have you had any reflections on how he approached. You treated you treated your your ascension to becoming majority leader now ben. I am really appreciative. Of the fact that you know how i carry myself because i always been very clear i am the first woman leader in the history of the state. I did not take that for granted. I feel you know a made in responsibility for doing and giving of my all to this job. And as i said i don't mind being the i i certainly don't want to be the last and so very very clear that this is the humbling position and i am happy to have it and i have an amazing amazing a senate of majority now but even when we were in the minority and amazing group of people who really understand public service. So i don't have a lot of reflections on how this journey went. I am happy that at least that part of it is is over. But i always considered my you working within the framework that i was working in a exercise in character-building. Shall we say that every every time there was an interaction. You have to be extremely clear on what you wanted to accomplish who you were dealing with. And what was most important so we really wasn't exercise a character building in and it's good. It's always good to build character especially when you are charged with something as important as is helping to run the state in terms of of running state. What are the either things that have already happened in terms of changes in terms of how the executive branch and the legislative branch are working together or interacting. Are there things that have already shifted under governor local that that new yorkers should know about. That are encouraging. Are there any hiccups that concern knew. How is the transition gone or their positive signs concerns as you mentioned. It's just been a couple of weeks but you know government has had to continue functioning as you also said and there's been emergencies to deal with though you know what should new yorkers know about how the transition is gone especially of that relationship between the executive and legislative branches. It's always easier when everybody sees the same reality. I think we're looking at a national level where it seems that some people are living in one world and other people living in other worlds very hard. When you're not inhabiting the same realities to get things done. It is good to have a governor a speaker. we're all on the same planet. We're all rolling in the same direction. I think the response to the eviction moratorium was extending the eviction. Moratorium is really emblematic of how important that it's been clearly. We had a a moratorium that was set to expire on august..

"Can And look, I mean way, always say this, but it bears repeating. I mean, if this mean for Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell to get the Democrats to go from $2.4 trillion down to $908 billion, and let's not forget they started above three trillion is remarkable. And now he's saying Okay, so the Democrats have moved their goal post into less than a trillion dollars, which Republicans like we've seen Senator John Thune. Legs come out in favor of it. And now what leader McConnell is doing is saying, Let's see if I can get them to go lower. See what five Kevin Great to catch up, as always, Kevin. So really Bloomberg chief Washington correspondent, no stimulus checks and either plans the plans lined up as follows 5 10 from leader McConnell. 90 weight from the bipartisan proposal, but the key difference is the difference. This really dominated the division in these talks over the last several months, Tom Governor all the way back to July. It's stay 81 16, the bipartisan Nothing can leader McConnell. I believe the working numbers 160 billion for state aid or whatever they empty A in New York City alone needs. I believe 12 billion is a working number that you know it's Guess it just get something done. That's the way it's gonna be. That's what this conversation is, Over the least, I think it's absolutely key to be clear about it. The rest of the bill. There were differences house where I could go through it Line by line, but the top line is this disagreement. Over state aid Speaker Pelosi's blinked Come in compromise, whatever you want to call it, but the key difference is still over that wanna shoot, and that's really the reason why people believe President Trump has not signed off on this, And it's sort of support behind the McConnell bill because it's politically perilous for him to come out and allow money to go to a state and local governments that he's maligned. As being all blue states and not handling the virus and other and fiscal issues correctly. "National Guard to staff polling places on their primary day in April, a CZ you mentioned there are new concerns about the post office and whether or not it can handle this surge in volume, whether it's male coming from an elections office to a voter or from the voter. Back to the elections office. People are suggesting that you've got to get your absentee ballot in a week, if not two weeks before an election just to make sure it shows up at the ballot box. President Trump has raised a lot of concerns about mail in voting. It was notable that yesterday he tweeted that mail in voting is fine in Florida, where a lot of older people and Republicans specifically tend to cast ballots. But now the Trump campaign is suing Nevada, which just voted to hold their November election entirely by mail over that decision, For some reason, he thinks that the Florida system is better than the Nevada system. Despite the fact that the vast majority of Nevada voters already vote by mail, and it works just fine. The notion of sort of voter fraud in male is Fanciful at best and outright lie at worst of the number of voter fraud cases that have cropped up across the country, and there have only been a few dozen in the last decade or so. Almost none of them deal with mail in voting. So President Trump is raising these questions about mail in voting. In an effort to essentially forced people to the polls. Now the scary part for Republicans at least, is that they rely on mail in voting for a lot of their voters in a lot of key states and as president Trump raises these these worries these unfounded concerns there. Those Republican strategists are worried that their own voters may not vote by mail and therefore will make it harder for them to drive those voters to the polls on election Day. If you want to learn more about Mail in voting for the upcoming election. We did a great conversation about it. On one day, you can find it on our website the one a dot or GQ or read really quickly. First. Elemental the pandemic. What's the status of Corona virus relief on Capitol Hill? Are we seeing any loosening of the gridlock? It appears that Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell is willing to give a little on the $600 a week and extra unemployment benefits. But there's still a big difference between the Republican package that stands at $1 trillion that has not passed the Senate and the Democratic package that stands at about $3 trillion that has already passed the house. The White House is sort of tangentially involved in these negotiations. But it's at the end of the day. It looks like this is once again going to fall on an agreement between Nancy Pelosi, the House speaker, and Mitch McConnell, the Senate leader on DH, we'll see how quickly they do it. But AH, lot of people now are entering their second week without that extra $600 that is raising concerns that a bad economic recession Might get a lot lot worse. Well, before we go, What are you watching over the next couple of weeks, Well, weird watching Corona virus cases and hoping that these positive trends in states like Arizona, Florida even here in Washington continue to trend downward, hoping that the states that are of concern the places where the case is air rising can really turn that corner. We need this sort of concerted effort to stop this virus. And, you know, we just have to hope that we haven't loosened up too much. Let's read Wilson. "About Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's comments about states potentially going bankrupt is incredibly dangeresque and I don't think that the vast majority of governors in this country Republican and democratic would agree with him on ABC's this week the first term democratic governors said the Kentucky Republican's comments were outrageous Whitmer also called for the federal government to step up aid to state and local governments didn't make its way into the latest economic relief package passed by Congress and signed by president trump the British prime minister says he's ready to get back to work after recovering from covert nineteen the fifty five year old Boris Johnson returned to number ten Downing Street on Sunday evening after spending two weeks at his country residence the White House says president trump spoke with Johnson by phone last week and the two agreed to work together to combat the global corona virus pandemic fake news that's what president trump is calling reports saying that health security Alex A.'s are is on his way out on Twitter trump said the media is desperate to create chaos and havoc in the minds of Americans reports claim that the White House was considering replacing ETS are because of criticism of the early response to the corona virus outbreak another victim of the mass shooting at an el Paso Walmart last August has died kill Meryl memo Garcia had been in the icy use since being shot multiple times in the Walmart parking lot on August third his passing brings the death toll from the shooting to twenty three officials at del sol Medical Center say Garcia was the last victim of the shooting still being treated there Dr Anthony Fauci has said that if any actor portrays him on Saturday Night Live he would want to be Brad Pitt last night the doctor got his wish as the Oscar winner portrayed him on the home edition of SNL you're listening to the latest from NBC news radio you are listening to Sunday night Cassius featuring one of the biggest podcasts of the week on a free I heart radio app now number one for podcasting warmer if you are outnumbered by your children or if they are talking your ear off or if they need you know constant supervision or you know need help with school I'd home schooling is like a whole other thing yeah this is going to be cool this is going to be a challenge so I just want to like bring the pressure down we don't expect every single person to emerge from this we don't expect to literally anyone to emerge from this with the next king layer okay yeah all the table up salute Lee say that and I I think it's a really good time to say like if we mention something that you find is like a helpful point of view our resource awesome if we mentioned something that's like hi that's also awesome the thing is everyone's circumstances are so so different so yes we don't say the effort on her show but like screw king as they say on the good place fork that for her that yeah and I think you know to your point Christina to like on the topic of a working from home any advice that I could give is going to be like really small basic again I want to what do they say instead of the S. H. word for short we're just talking I honestly find that there is this like inverse proportion of like when things are really hard it's sometimes the tiniest ship they can help great lake for example Patty Kim who's as natural path who who I follow who's based in LA like she had this post it was like put socks on and I was like he's like it's actually like from an eastern medicine standpoint like it actually boosts immunity but it's also like yeah keep your feet warm the N. LOC yeah and while that seems so small those little things like her my mom used to say this thing to me and when I was spiraling down an anxiety spiral where she would go like Hey Kate just like go outside and notice what color is the sky if you ask me like what color is the sky and I'm like I don't I don't care like my life is in shambles he knows you like just got a notice maybe like once it's below she like wow is an interesting that little thing I can certainly speak to working from home as an individual realizing that it's not including working from home with children I mean what's your insights on that so far yet so so far is just years setting the expectation with everyone in your life that like this is going to be messy so I was on a facetime or zoom work call yesterday with a bunch of writers in LA and in the middle of it My Baby had a meltdown and so I had to pick her up and take her back and the holder with one arm and keeper crossfire in with the the other hand and rocker back and forth while talking about cash flow statements I think that polluted in mortifying in a previous life would be like oh my god it feels so unprofessional I know I don't care you know and and I'm doing this while wearing like a crop top and my pajama pants and I don't care I know some people say like get up put on real clothes shower put on a bra like that's not reality for me right now it might be in two weeks when I can't tell morning from night but right now reality is like is my hair pulled back do I have a shirt on before I get on my zoom call because I'm still breastfeeding and sometimes I'm not worries her the way so as a matter for the same call so you're good there doesn't unless you're getting up and moving during the call no that's not enough I did do that yesterday yeah that's it and then I would see you as someone who doesn't have a backyard keep your windows open get fresh air yeah much as you can even if it makes your apartment a little chilly right now put on extra layers put on those socks but get fresh air and then you know in the moments when you can sneak outside go for a walk through what you need to try to do it every little bit feels like it makes a difference and the same sort of physical activity like I'm planking in the middle of my living room and doing wall sits and like trying to find ways to stay somewhere active because like we were never designed to set sixteen eighteen hours a day yeah yeah no it's it's true you know will willing to a couple of articles with different resources and and tips for working from home what I would say is for me trying to keep some little tiny routine things like even and that's very different from like needing things to be orderly those are two different things and I wanna make that clear because I think the most important message is just taking the pressure off he may start to hear Rosie makes sounds right now because by me hold up but just like take pressure off for to look any certain way other than what is manageable for you at this point but certainly like tiny things like for me if I know that like when I went to the store I was able to get coffee and I got it because I know that for me just making that Cup of coffee makes me feel like okay there's some routine in my day I have a friend who is working from home and she's just trying to close her laptop to eat lunch even if that's five minutes it won't be longer to give that a try great yeah like do things like take a real lunch if you can take regular screen breaks even if you have to set an alarm on your phone to go okay chest and you know fifty five on the hour if I can I'm gonna just take a screen break setting something like a bad time alarm which if you have kids that piece of advice may not be helpful but you know trying to set yourself up for success like I know for me even before I go to bed now some nights I'm just like collapsing into bed whatever right I don't get this right every time but sometimes like if I can clean my work space so that when I wake up in the morning it's in some semblance of order my favorite tip right now if anyone has zoom if they're doing yeah call specifically in zoom platform yes you can go into your settings and there is a check box that applies basically a it's a beauty filter it's like an Instagram filter so you can check and then instead of you having to put on make up I'm not joking I've done a I will do you putting on make up technology applies it for you you're welcome that is a huge the hero whoever whoever designed that you know I think that yeah the point is do what works for you yeah for me I realize that I did want to start putting jeans and a broad line just because it was like helping my emotional state to do but for you you may be like oh I'm going full like comfy it all right here I mean right now right now that's where I am so as much as it's important to figure out how to work from home I also want to talk about what to do when you're not working because this is the one yes I do know this is the hardest thing for people who are from home period is like there are no boundaries in your day or there can I feel like there are no boundaries right and I think in the middle of this right now we're even more prone to that because certainly when I'm working I'm not thinking about this and that so I don't want this to suddenly become the thing that you're working all the time to avoid scrolling Twitter yeah so my favorite thing to do in the last few days is face time at least one person and I've been doing lots of people every single day I need to talk to a human who is not my husband or my daughter everyday yeah and in particular doing it like group happy hour yes with some of the women in my professional network where we all just get on and we're drinking or drink of choice which could be water and I'm just checking in you know each other and keeping those social connections strong even when we're having to keep our physical connections quite distant yes yes such an important point you know connecting with others is just it's so ascential for mental health and knowing that even if you are isolated which so many of us are you're not alone and you know it's not easy to reach out for everybody like it's not on both sides of that it can be difficult to reach out to offer help to know what to say that's even going to be helpful and it can be difficult to ask for help and what sort of help me with that is to just take a pause and go like what would be helpful if someone could offer it to me right now or why it might bring me comfort and how can I kind of pass it on to somebody else and I think I've just been so grateful for even just a little quick emoji taxed or a hello from people that I haven't heard from for quite some time and then other friends have gotten more creative like I have set up facetime drink dates and a friend invited me to escape book club a friend of mine last night just did her own Instagram life of I just have like a coffee throat of reading out of her diary and like just honestly being in my kitchen by myself at ten o'clock at night and listening to any like read about her hopes and dreams in her twenties just gave me a lot of comfort.
