"That just ran across this but only a few seconds ago that Major League Baseball according to Jeff Passan of ESPN they are going out a counter proposal to the Players Association proposal that was calling for a one hundred and fourteen game season to go along with the extra playoff teams and in the season what in late November close to December Jeff Passan is saying that Major League Baseball intends to propose a fifty or sixty games season with full pro rated salaries so we've gone from eighty games pro rated salaries agreement in March two to propose rumored leaked whatever you wanna call it fifty fifty revenue sharing split to the players saying or if in the owner's coming back with a sliding scale of pay cuts her fourteen game polls by the players now fifty sixty game season with full paraded salaries by Major League Baseball I'm surprised to see Major League Baseball come back that quickly with that number of games but the big surprise to me is the full pro rated salary part well what are they saying it's gonna be full pro rated for the fifty games for the fifty or sixty you know that's their way of getting around how to save them that's basically the way it get around having to pay them for eighty two this say okay we'll give you football pro rations but you're gonna get a thirty year salary because we're gonna play fifty games I don't but but I would think so I would think that but here's here's where the marketing is going to be this is gonna be more games so it'll be I don't know if it'll it eventually get up to eighty or eighty two whatever the number was it a great honor glory and allocated playoff to to gain generate more what what what yeah but they they've already agreed on that that that was going to because the hundred fourteen a proposal by the players included expanded playoffs and they plan on having expanded playoffs in twenty twenty one and beyond that so we're getting expanded playoffs that that's that's that's a done deal my thing is is that if it the number of games is now what has to be negotiated because IBM if the owners agreement for pro rated salaries you know they don't want to just play fifty games you know they don't want to play just fifty get just a negotiating ploy probably want to get somewhere in the mid seventies maybe even you know close to eighty to kind of give loners this idea that they want to on something but there's no way in my mind that that the owners want to only play fifty games because they want to make as much money as possible the fact that they were looking to fit with the corporate salaries like I said that's why I find it interesting because that was something that they weren't willing to get down on it considering that they wanted to go back and renegotiate that March deal so that her down for pro rated salaries just tell me how many games you want to play and let's get this thing going because you got to do it quickly I don't know let's play two yeah one again a couple has three series and a whole bunch of tiebreakers with this minimized testing your mais lost the first game were mathematically eliminated them as brutal yeah I don't know what the if you get a good look if they want full pro rated salaries and there's no way they'll get back to eighty two games because they would have without that already because the players are like that so you want to do so because I'm trying to think if it was fifty games for pro rated salaries might travel probably around twelve and a half million it's between twelve and thirteen road runner with a sliding scale he was going to get what seven million or something like that yeah right around seven so this should be more for less so more money for less getting basically knock it's it's in it's not setting a precedent right they don't want they don't want to sit and write a precedence in the negotiation that they then have to live up by going forward but you know here he would be my comment all of it three words figure it out do it privately because you're babbling over money and you're all filthy rich and there's tons of people that are hurting and just figure it out just figured out tell me wake me when you have a when you have a game plan but so far we've seen the players and the owners say eighty two games the players come back in so they want to play a hundred and fourteen game season and now you're seeing the owners going okay well how about a fifty or sixty games season so this is all going to be negotiated out I just I wish they would just take this year as a one off and agree that they're going to go back to some form of normal so they could get on the same page and not be so worried about precedent setting and just get a deal done for for twenty twenty that makes sense and maybe one for twenty twenty twenty twenty one kind of a thing like a two year deal to cap account for this pandemic something like that and then go back because the the league the the the industry is very very healthy for for the most part the revenues have been there but if they go away for eighteen months if I could be nearly as healthy and the impact of that this can be profound and it's gonna be bad for everybody so the guy to get on the same page somehow some way and get this deal done figure it out yeah because I a look AT IT we're going to have sports sports are common then I'm certain to watch you know again we watch the they can work changing our habits and we can change away from baseball very safe which I keep losing money I can't even win a game grudge match argued that we don't know we can't get his KBO of where to mail man okay I got I got up and going on to come in second which is going to work for anything and I must regret to match it to ride one day one dog and but I will say this I watch both of the soccer matches I think there on Sunday Dorman and much of blood Bach I think that's a pronounce it into different again I think it was a second team I think it's more than blood box is that right is that needed a lot by Jeff virgin blood bike yeah so but two different I I do you know is interesting so much adornment and they had the sound like we talked about it but nobody nobody in the stands no nothing Gladbach decided to the sound and they went full cardboard cutouts they did have them all over the place they only didn't have on the side but they had a behind the nats sure and add to the side of the net so they were like oh I religious and seeing it from other from known and are there right on top of each other I don't think you can get out of the I don't think the star former whatever they're using to Kerry the code nineteen but who knows and I did see I did so I think they're wearing masks so they were at least be in safe even though they were not being made due to where humans but it it made a whole world of difference for me like watching it again it's not like you're looking at a pick him out you just noticed something there it's not a negative space it is it's it's that's what I'm not that's what I normally see and I thought it was super cool like I I really like that there is somebody controlling the sound so it was a shot and somebody missed the you did all you guys save some like that so I think that's what it was in stadium sound that wasn't just coming through on the broadcast that I can't guarantee you I think it was in stadium but I who knows I mean it would do with that thing goes on Fox Sports to watching those but I just I just saw the cardboard cutout to whatever they're using wood cutouts was was cool and then something happened that I A. give me an idea which could even make baseball even more interesting to watch today one of the guys just hit a laser and the hit about a thousand feet over the net I'm like dude you serious Amelie's he leads her to get in the same zip code but he missed it and apparently I don't get to see it but the announcer said it just tore some poor cardboard dude's head off just excuse not to so I thought all we can and it's really insane what if what if what if baseball had all like be cardboard or wood or whatever you want to use cut outs and they put him behind home plate maybe a little bit down the line you're going to be a whole lot down the line twenty minutes in the drop the net share buddy and then drop the net so this all because some dude collecting payment the fair where you're trying to knock those things down one member of the Senate Major League or Charlie Sheen takes a guy's head off yeah that's I was sick at all it'd be pretty cool you think it is watching I am naked Goddard you should be rewarded for making good contact even if it is allowed to strike this is a subset inspection Hey Tom it's a great idea to it could be a code nineteen or fundraiser people could have their own faces in there and see if they get picked off you pay for a seat you get you pay for your your face to get beyond the third seat if you get drilled one hundred Bucks yeah exactly or your your you where you don't want a hundred Bucks goes to covert nineteen releases are in your name I used this is what I'm devastated all those consoles ridiculous ideas it known all over you but her parents took my head off yeah you could do with that drop the net in a hockey dude ricochets on our slapper images of little rock the network cut out does Tommy the glass is gone could take less out here all the glass glass out here thing yeah everything that was doing habits of the deal limited the glass in the NHL I'm totally totally in th drop the net we have been inside for too long we're going to give you a chance to win a fifty dollar gift certificate to Ike's love and sandwiches this week's KNBR Greven giveaway partner that's coming up Tampa Bay and Jack Aaron and Natalie and Katie and Dave Loretta just walked in here we can't have a morning start without him let me find something here Dave let's see what did the blonde tiptoe past the medicine cabinet not she didn't want to wake up the sleeping pills that makes my day but we got it taken care of there then I'm sure that'll be something that Ronnie lane one stay here too WDAZ host to again is broadcasting from home now and Ronnie we got the NFL draft coming up but I think the Buccaneers have pretty well done everything they wanted to do we got rowdy on here yeah sure good morning Hey good morning I was gonna say the Buccaneers have already made their major moves now I thank and all they have to do is get a couple or a few people to go along with them well yeah that's what we want to do tonight in the draft they want to get themselves on offense of linemen that can help out on the right side that's where they have some issues last season really all up and down the options of white but you know that guy Tom Brady usually picks up a level of players around him so I have a feeling they're going to be better than they wore last season but still they need more depth on that side the mark Dobson don't know if he's coming back or not because this will be S. twelfth season so he's getting a little long in the tooth but you say about me you got a quarterback who's been playing twenty years but not everybody takes care of themselves away the great Tom Brady does all look for the box to grab an offense of linemen in this draft a running back maybe fortify the defensive line with some inside help as well all right you know Margareta cornerback who knows their quarters are really young right now and you could use all the data that you can get because you know it's football it's a very aggressive and it's very physical and you might not be able to keep players throughout the entire year radi what difficulties do you see happening tonight because this is the first time ever this draft will be held completely virtually everyone's gonna be separate Roger Goodell the commissioner is going to be in his basement how do you think it's going to go are you gonna go pretty well they they are run through the other day at once but we battled glitch at the beginning of it but that's why they have the run crews so they can make sure they don't have this you realize this is probably going to be the most watched ever NFL draft because this is the only live sporting event albeit without fans this time around that has happened in over a month the country's been shut down the sporting events and this is a huge event anyway so I think the TV ratings are going to be through the roof to carrying on not one not two but three networks ABC and ESPN of course owned by Disney but the NFL network is also doing a version of the draft will have our draft show on WDET gonna tonight with the Buccaneers radio network at seven o'clock TJ resent your body there Pat Donovan will be hosting the coverage there that's right that's good to hear and get tonight awful well you probably will be taking the night off you'll be paying attention all you know what it's also going to be one of the most bet on NFL draft ever because there's nothing else going on in these you know sports bettors are going crazy they're dying for stuff like that on so Erin how bout that yeah W. may I've been looking up and down season will pick second go with all the weird ones as well the weird prop bets now you your what do you think about going to do with that first pick I think it's no doubt or they're going to offensive tackle at number fourteen or the trade up to get the offense of tackle yeah I'm not I'm going to all right well I hope they do the guy I'm hoping they get a big kick out a loyal Makai back then I know you had a failed drug test not too long ago about snow that's not good these days this kid's incredible you know is like six eight three hundred and sixty pounds Jackie Garon he's they use he's a guy the Bucks and he's got a nasty attitude out there always walking so that will help with our run blocking I like the guy back in of loyal and the fact that he failed a drug test the spots go pretty high in the draft it may push it out of the box reporting that is good this is a great thing so we got to congratulate him on a failed drug test but rather right do you have fun at home we'll be looking forward to seeing you get back here are you guys they say all right Ronnie lane news a host on ninety three five W. "A hard time shutting it off in a personal life that used to hitting being aggressive and Mace. I could I could go to toe with you with baseball players baseball players to what's weird is how about what about in the NBA the it's happened. But it's it's it's nothing. It's nothing like what? Well, you know, it's interesting. There's the answer to this question is surprising yet. Most people miss it authority, you guys of the four major sports once you reach the professional level, which sport is the least educated which sport is the least it has has the lowest level of education baseball because go to college, right? Yeah. It's overwhelming baseball. You know, people assume that it might be the NFL or the NBA or, you know, but it's baseball because almost all the baseball players go right out of high school a few of them go to college. No. I'd say probably half of them go to college. Oh, no, Michael, Detroit and traces teammates. How many I would say maybe one out of every five right here with the when he when he's with the dodgers MS Walker Bieler went to college. Who else I'd say one other guys go right to the miners base? Justin Turner, went to college, Jack Petersen didn't most of them. Yeah. You know, if you're good enough coming out of high school, I read an article that said six percent of major leaguers have a college education six. Money at eighteen. Yeah. You know, you go you go to where the money is. Yeah. A lot very few finish. I'll say that. If you finish. NBA? I mean, very few traits ever consider going to college. He was going to go to UCLA. Then it got drafted in the second house. I said I'm out of here which most kids do right? If they can get a check you remember what he got six hundred thousand dollars, son. You can't turn that down. I mean, that's where you did you try and talk them out of it. Or did you try to take it? As a who? From my cold, by the way, Michael L? Let you go. And then we got to go into fest. Right. But I want to ask you this the quarterback for Oklahoma Tyler Murray point, it's okay. So he got a four million dollar signing bonus to play baseball for the as, but he could be the number one pick in the NFL. They said third round at Bessie to live. But if he if let's say Russell Wilson was the third round. Well, okay. Tom Brady was the fifth or sixth pay if you were advising him telling him what you do you have one son in the NBA and one Senate major league baseball. What would you tell him to easy? As Mace would agree in anybody listening to me would agree. Yes. Following your passion. Whatever sport you have the most passionate for that's the one you play not the money not the money because he's going to be. He's a heck of a baseball player. He's going to be successful. But if he has more passion for baseball than pursue that. Even if he has to stay in the minors for awhile, you'll only be there for us in the NFL. It could be a starting quarterback in the first twenty one. Now, he's going to be in the mix. You gotta you gotta go where your heart. You got anything you do in life famous thing. Follow your bliss, the if it's not gonna make you happy. What's the point? Exactly. You'll you'll fall away quickly. Yep. I mean, you if your heart's not in it. It's not gonna work said by gave every young person. I talked to say you got a passion what you do and your future career for. So so Bo Jackson, obviously, he's probably the most faint Indiana to most famous people to play football and baseball has there ever been a quarterback. "Live at our show with this to God's only SPN. Radio was Steve. Hold on a second. I'm gonna tell you what just happened. I was about to say, was Stephen as. Number seven. Listen to me, I was about to say that was Stephen as top five list of rookies in the NFL really just the order. They were drafted it. I was about to ask that because when people are writing that in and I don't know whether that's true or not, but I want it to be true. But as I was beginning that thought Mike Ryan, for some reason decided to not only deliver this in my ear, but to whisper it, which made it all the funnier, which is, yes. Well, you go ahead Mike, do it again as I just experienced it to start this segment. So people can hear what it's like sometimes to live inside my head. This is what was actually happening inside my headphones. As I began the thought Stephen as top five list and Tom ventures, we may have to find a substitute. A substitute. And then he was so amused with himself. He was so pleased with himself that he just ran away from the microphone, a substitute. It's worthy of the came Knicks laugh. So's this person's written in what I believe to be the hardest question. The history of our polling. What is more likely to God's talking himself out of a hostage situation or stugatz talking himself into one. Tom Barringer with us new film, American dresser, Josh Allen number seven is in theaters and on demand. Temer twenty I, this is the height of entertainment for this Hollywood star. Here he's getting AM radio and and that sound effects here. He is without further ado, Tom Barringer, ladies and gentlemen. Morning. Good morning. We're very excited to have you on, and we want to just ask you questions about major league, but I'm curious, Tom, what is the thing that your most asked about? Like when people are peppering you and bothering you? What is it major league, the substitute? Is that something else. Usually it's either major league or sniper, maybe put you in that one. History case on necessarily in that order. But those three, I know our audience. I mean, did you guys know when you were making major league that you making a what was going to be a cult classic and just something that was icon it?
