"So it's obviously a reality in many other sports in. I would not be surprised to see it come to baseball, right to whatever extent people worry about how noncompetitive teams might handle the draft picks. We haven't seen non-competitive teams just like shedding their draft picks now to the big spenders teams who have those competitive balance picks tend to hold onto them or use them as asset says we just saw in in the trade. So it does I don't know how high priority. It is. It's probably not a very high priority at all. But it does feel like something that it only makes sense. It's not just one of the things that writers clamor for because it would be interesting. But I also think it would be good for the game. So that's fifteen years. Okay. Yeah. One other. That occurs to me. What does this mean for Franklin burrito and his future in as infield? Because I think he was kind of the heir-apparent at that spot. Right because they've got Chapman. Obviously just cemented third base in than semi short and Olsen first, and that leaves second as for radar it seemed to but now he's blocked by far. So I don't know what you do with him. Right. So semi that would because it's the as anyone could get created at any point. But pro far is a believe in two year player Semion could get moved. But I don't know what it means. But so far so Brady was playing in Venezuela this winter, and he has mostly played second base. And he's played a few games Schwartz up. But he's also played five games in the outfield. Not enough that is because if the team is on at Agua or whether that's because of the as requesting it, but he started four games in left field. And he's started one game in center. And I wonder because he is a he's young. He's a good athlete is only twice. The two years old. I wonder if the as might be imagining that Brenna could make it as some sort of like super sub I don't want to just keep going to Marlena Gonzales. But that's like the the current Benz obits, I guess that we can Vince over still being current. But you know, different. It's also worth observing that this year in the majors. Franklin radio had twenty nine strike outs and one walk. So that's also can't be ignored very real chance. He's not ready, and he might never be ready. But because he is and he can move around. You you look at the as he could be sort of their a a guy they have around the infield who's more athletic than Chad Pender and right now in the outfield, the seeping Biscardi who was good, but they have Ramon Laureano who's, you know, a high volatility player in center field, and they have Nick MARTINI and Mark Cana in Chad hinder in left. So there are at bats likely to be available in the field and in maybe burrito will make himself available there. All right. So we should get to emails the things we haven't talked about this the Miller signing with the cardinals. That's not official as we speak. But you all know who entry Miller is obviously he was diminished by injury this past year. But it sounds like he is working on a multi year deal in Saint Louis. And then as for in about Sanchez who had quite a surprising resurgence with Atlanta in twenty eighteen he now fills the tenor Roark spot with the nationals rounds out a really really really strong rotation. Which is sherzer Corbin Strasbourg Sanchez Ross that is quite a top five. So I don't know if the nationals are currently the favourite in that division, probably, but we have seen how the national speaking the favourite in that division goes. So nothing is assured they're in it's going to be a really competitive spot that I'm looking forward to watching all year..

"One points at twenty four thousand nine hundred fifteen point ninety one points John twenty four nine so we're up two hundred on the year as we get closer. They always say, well, how did the Dow do that year? And it's been pretty good this year until October happened and November is not getting any better. So we're two hundred points up for the year. It's one twenty four on WGN. We've been talking about this Nazareth Simeon game earlier in the month in the state high school playoff seven a big schools. The Roadrunners Nazareth one thirty four twenty seven but Simeon's upset with the call or two and the fact that a guy had his officials uniform on on the sideline, but he was a parent of one of the Nazereth kids, and he was talking to the rest, drain. The game are brand was there. Joe you're on WGN. Hi, joe. Hi, john. How's it going? What were you doing? There were you covering it for us. I know you've been covering the high school football beat. Not regina. I was actually working for CNN one hundred we shoot the highlights for for multiple games during the playoffs scene. And that's the one I got assigned to ironically. What happened did you notice this? What do you think about this story? I did not notice a referee on the sidelines shouldn't have been there. I really don't think anyone did. I mean, the story just of coming up over the past twenty four hours. So I mean you see a rap on the sidelines. I don't think you assume that it's somebody's father and not somebody who supposed to be there. What I saw was a was a great game. It really was there were a couple of controversial calls though, the one that sticks out. Most in my mind was late in the third quarter. Simion was trailing Nazereth after Nazran made this huge comeback in the second quarter and Simion had a big sack which looked to have been a fumble on Nazareth's quarterback j McCarthy and the rest called the the play dead that it was just a straight sack. Would have been an easy touchdown source. Semion defense that would have been a huge swing in the game. That was one thing that Simion sideline and coaching staff was upset with later on in the game. There was an extra point that the referees called no good. It was just too high for our vantage point where we're where we were at the press box. It looked good. But again, we can't make total. Here belief that it was great were you there at the very end of the game. Joe I was and and that's got pretty tense March down the field credit to their offense. They had two minutes to work with all the way down the field. It gets to the end zone. Here's the thing. John they were on second and goal with time ticking down and they chose to run the ball. They went for a dive of the middle. They got stuff. They only had a little bit of time to work a play. They could have like some of what you said earlier. And some of the reports that's what I saw was some tumbling going around. But I also saw some Semion players somewhat leaving the line because I think that they thought the time had expired already knows was going crazy both sides were bantering. But if I if I may though the allegation was that the officials did not work as expeditiously as they should have to get the ball down to give Simeon one more chance. And if there's this cloud over the relationship between the father on the sideline in the. Officials in the game than it just looks bad. But John if I can Joe sounds like the controversial calls you're talking about though, we're all instant calls on the field. Not after there'd be this consultation with the nefarious quasi referee or anything like that. Yeah. That's the thing. I I'm having an issue with. I mean, if they if they tackle the quarterback in it's they call it a sack in a straight sack on the ground dead ball, not allied ball. That's not the official on the sideline making any help or any aid to the officiating crew same thing with the extra point. So that's where I got a little bit confused, but I would have to say that that last play it just looks odd. I mean, all all ends involved. Semion looser walk off naturally was starting to celebrate the clock was picking the ball was being bounced around at everyone said snap the ball snapped the ball. All right, Paul Ellison. My we gotta take a break we might come back to this later on. And I'm on Facebook about a two so feel free to comment there. Joe? It'd be interesting to see what you have to say. I'm WGN king. John on Facebook. And we'll come back to this topic. A little later on really helpful jokes. Actually, hear your voice. Thanks for chiming in. Likewise, good to talk to you on a Monday. Yeah. It has been damp still a little bit drizzly out there for our Wednesday night, a beautiful view over the city by the sound. We wear a rain pretty well around here, overcast skies and just a little bit of light rain falling at this point. It's still fifty two degrees. So it's mild out there. Windsor southerly and the barometer at this point is starting to rise a sign that we're in between storms. You can see that's true on the satellite and radar picture as well. Just a couple of pockets of drizzle left mainly over the Olympic peninsula, and then some scattered very light showers here on the east side back into the cascade foothills passes still looking just fine. Mostly just seeing some rain at times today rather than snow, and again, that's because it's been running a little bit on the warm side temperatures right now so forties to low fifties. Fifty out of Shelton fifty one in Bellingham and back into the low fifties in Aberdeen in Long Beach, and you can see that's actually a little bit warmer here at eleven o'clock at night than our normal afternoon. High in November high today was fifty seven and a look at the satellite picture shows. Once again, the moisture that we are pulling up toward are part of the west coast has a subtropical route. And so that's why it's been running just a little bit warm round cherub more of the same on Thursday and Friday still gray and damp, especially into Friday morning. And then we'll Brighton right back up just in time for the weekend. Overnight tonight. Mainly cloudy, staying in the forties all night long. So that's pretty mild and then highs tomorrow back into the fifties, mainly cloudy skies and a little bit of patchy rain here and there, but nothing too significant back into the mid fifty s tomorrow ran Auburn Al gonna Pacific in the north sound just a little bit of light rain at times around Victoria and back toward Bellingham and Semion Mutu ocean beaches, mid fifties, scattered showers possible, but again, they'll be very hit and miss and then eastern Washington finally thawing out again. Good start for the Avs, especially to beat the Minnesota wild, which I think is the closest thing they have to a rival right now. Certainly from the perspective. I think Minnesota feels the same way about the avalanche. I would imagine but good opening night win for the Colorado Avalanche. I think one of the most heartening things about game one. And look it's game. One of eighty two. There's a long way to go defensively the way that they're blue line played in the way that Semion Varlamov played should also be heartening for avalanche fans because you know, that they're going to score goals. Will they get the secondary scoring that that remains to be seen? But certainly that top line with ranson and McKinnon will definitely produce. And. Whether they play well at the blue line, and whether they get the kind of goaltending that they needed last year to go on that run and get into the postseason a we'll see but one night in looks good by the way tomorrow night. "The two men say they were tourists just doing some sightseeing and sows bury England. They were speaking there in an interview with Margarita yawn. The editor in chief of the Kremlin funded Artnews. The British government says, the men are suspects in the attempted murder of a former Russian spy and his daughter, Sara gay and Yuli scrape all the Brits. Also say the two suspects are spas with Russian military intelligence. Kersee walk is a host with BBC's Newsnight programme. She spoke with him in yawn the RT editor who did that interview with the Russian suspects and things got tents, doesn't the manner this interview, you concern you and the fact it doesn't. It just reinforce the idea. The RT is a propaganda to for the rush. Shen state. You did watch the interview. Didn't you? Why washed into did? Did you see my face? Did you see the tone? You probably don't speak Russian. I, I also. Transcript that point RT Semion hung up on Kirsty work. I ask Kirsty what she wanted to get out of that interview with John. I wanted to interview because she got the story and whatever one makes the story itself. She got it. And it was interesting to us to find out what are take was on it how interrogators she woes and doggedly keeping calling while I was in the radio studio waiting, we go through to migrants, Schick reach the interview. So what was some in yawns take on her interview with these two men. Some take was the day before of Ladimir Putin had said in public that if these two men have got nothing to fear and they were being tourists as was being suggested, then they should come forward and, hey, presto, the next day they came forward, they contacted and migrate apparently by telephone. As she said in the interview, she is well known in Moscow. She's the editor in chief, and so therefore they contacted her direct and she did the interview with them. And so what I was doing the in that interview was getting she called the interview talking about high. She got intimate and talking to a high. She conducted the interview. I'll give an example in the in the told her that they'd been to Salisbury a cathedral. They love the cathedral spire was hundreds of feet tall, etc. Cetera, and they took photographs, but whether any photographs of them as cathedral new, did she see any photographs? No. Did she ask them why they didn't bring the photographs with? No, I think she genuinely got the call from them. Genuinely did the interview, but I think I wonder if she thinks they wear genuinely tourist, truly, I'm not sure. So there's this other moment in the interview that is not as dramatic as when we just heard, but I actually found more telling, let's hear that I saw with my own eyes that they do completely like the people on the video that was released by the British police. So for that matter, I do believe the are those people, but. As far as the story goes, I don't have any reasons to believe them. I don't know them. I haven't spent life with them. They're not my friends, but I have no movies to believe secret services who have been lying Beasley. Obviously, I only believe what I see with my own eyes, but I can't believe the lying British secret service. What did you make of that? I've got no reason to disbelieve the secret service because I imagine if there was nobody in that room, it will be traceable in the reports, and it would be highly unlikely that in such a public high profile case, the investigators would live at Nova talkin hotel room her answer. "All right. Let's check back in with regard to Shannon O'Donnell such a weird way way whether day here, but I know up north it was pouring. It was mainly drive. But when it was damp, it was very very damp. We have the heavy showers coming down with some thunder and lightning in particular. In the cascade foothills around downtown Seattle is pretty dry most of the day, including around sunset as captured by Roger Barnett tonight at al-qaeda doesn't that look like a treasure chest that has just rolled into of looks like it. I think it's probably a log, but overall a beautiful way to wrap up this afternoon here in the city by the sound. Now, we do still have the partly starry skies right over I five, but it is still raining in some locations. Temperatures currently in the upper fifties. And there's that familiar damp chill back to the air here kind of early in the game. It's not even officially fall. But it sure feels like it over the last couple of days, partly because the rain has returned. We desperately have needed it. It's been extra-dry, of course, this summer. So we'll take what we can get it can. See the showers tonight or more plentiful actually than they were during the day. But at night, they tend not to be as heavy they lose their steam. So no longer the thunder and the lightning in the works. But a little bit of light rain. They're lining the shoreline of lake Washington. Certainly as well, we're going for a closer look at highway two that's what we were rocking and rolling this afternoon with the big thunder boomers, but they're out of the picture at the moment. Still some light rain hanging out around what come county around maple falls and back towards Semion meal. And then in the south end, it was cool and damp much of the afternoon around Olympia, and it still is it looks like in parts of Thurston county. Temperatures primarily in the fifties. From the coast to the cascades so most of us on an even playing field. We were running cool around Puget Sound today with just a high of sixty seven average high is seventy two so definitely was a little bit on the cool side of normal. You can see why here's the satellite picture look at this big trough of low pressure digging deep into northern California bringing all of that cool air down on the north side of the jet stream and continuing to pump some of these scattered showers in from the ocean beaches. So bottom line still cool and unsettled the next couple of days, really, mainly dry. But when it does rain at times, the showers are going to be locally heavy. So here's a look at the overnight. We hang onto that threat for some very light rain, hopefully enough to water, your tomatoes or your lawn, which of all dried out this summer. And then as we head into tomorrow more of the same mainly dry, quite a few sunbreaks out there. But when we get the showers, especially in the cascade put hills, they have a chance for popping into some thunder and lightning cells there,.

"He's never faced reprecussions. And he assumes that in his position of president, he can act as an autocrat he can rewrite the law, but I think is anxiety about Bruce or in particular, he's now brought him to national scrutiny and there for a long with that brought the Russian mafia and Trump's ties with them to to national scrutiny. You know, we've been talking about that for a while, but it really hasn't hit the mainstream press. Much meadow is doing a show about Semion Hewlett all these things are happening. I don't know what are your thoughts on it? I think the surprise election of Donald Trump can be seen as a marriage of sorts between the Russian mafia and the west and the Russian mafia and the east. There's so many deeply woven lapping connections. And that's just a fact it's out there and this has been reported for years. It's all in the public domain. Bruce or is has been on the frontlines of investigating all of this. Bruce was somebody that knew how to stand up to the Russian mob and he knows where all the bodies are buried, which is terrible metaphor using this case. And yeah, I think that the end of the day, we have to accept the fact that we have a Russian mafia asset in the White House. It's not just a Kremlin asset. Putin's Kremlin is a mafia state. We have a Russian mafia asset in the White House, yes. And by except we don't mean sit back and take it and settle. We mean acknowledged that this is the reality we mean refuse to be gas lit. As you have been for the last few years with people constantly playing down this connection, the best way to tackle this problem is for us to discuss it openly and it is. Deeply frightening. We have had this wave of deaths and attacks on people who've been investigating this case people who are implicated in this case, and it's obviously incredibly frightening position to be in because the this mafia is a global kleptocracy is a transnational alliance. It's not the kind of thing people think of with the sopranos or the godfather or something like that. It's new. It's essentially replacing governments throughout the world. And of course this in Russia, but you also see it in Hungary and Turkey, and you see other countries participating like Saudi Arabia and Israel, and it's frightening. But yeah, that is absolutely how Trump should be seen and it's how Trump should be handled by our own government and by the intelligence services. And if our government was doing its job, if congress is doing its job, Trump would be out because he's committed so many crimes in plain sight just during his tenure. And then of course, add to that. The previous forty years of crimes, he should absolutely be out. And so people need to be asking the very tough questions about why there is so much hesitancy so much fear. You know, obviously, there are Democrats speaking out in there is a limited ability of the Democrats to do anything with GOP dominated congress. But this road ends in hell for everyone. This path is unsustainable. And so I think as we move to the mid terms, I think would benefit everyone if these problems were discussed in a more forthright way, instead of being played down either to make people feel better or to to keep people in denial. Because if the last two years of Todd us anything, it's that that does no good. Exactly. I wanna say it's insane that we're just all tiptoeing around this issue and just living with the fact that Trump is in the White House. H is that you have Russia mop in the White House. I don't understand how we can just go on accepting that and allowing him to push through supreme court justices and. I just don't. It's just a surreal. You live with this this pit in your stomach constantly. Just is anyone going to do anything? Yes, exactly. When are we going to just stop being in denial as a country and come together and accept the facts that are that have been out there in the public domain for years as anyone going to do anything, that's that's the question. The show is going to ask every episode until someone finally does something. Yeah. And one of the terrifying things you just threes is that the type of people who could do something, for example, the supreme court, if certain rulings come, their way Trump is now picking those people. He's packing those courts..

"Hey we're back and we wanna. Thank you for our sponsors, and we'd like to say if you know anybody, that would like to sponsor I show cinnamon Email and we'll see if it's a fit because your mom listen to our show that would love. To learn about your product now as I'm sitting here today because we're all tapped. In sort of a, family. I'm thinking to myself Amanda I'm hearing in my head that dynamite has. Sent you some? Sand. Recently is. That. True yes that's true okay for those of you who haven't heard and, this is our first show I have a book call, after death signs for pets and we got a really active little dynamite on the other side that's Amandas firm baby and tell us what has data Mike done recently to let you know. That. They're, alive and well okay well actually it was actually the day of my reading with you and with dynamite I, walked outside after the reading it was. Time to take my dogs my other two boys out and I look up in the tree and there was a cardinal red bird just perched only I really saw outside and some, just told me the look in that direction and I saw it just in time for it to kind of flutter away well that's because that's a sign that comes out of the side. Of. Your, and you'll see that we have had questions last week and our show about our cardinal sans from the other, side and yes and we talked about. Julie who sent a carnal to a lady that had not seen a cardinal in a year and she had asked Julie Semion and she, walked outside and there was this big old car no sitting right there and there hasn't been one around our house. For years. So a cardinal is a realty definitive San really also because they stand out I mean yoed there's a big red, bird you're gonna pay attention That's wonderful now what were the other, side and she. Said especially with that cardinal it, really stood out because we just had quite a bit of snow so was really beautiful you know just to see it against the white backdrop but. Additionally she loves, we've? Established, that dynamite likes to use nature that's probably preferred way descendant signs. And, ios after our reading in my house I hadn't. Seen any for a while and all of a sudden, some ladybugs show up cool bugs is also a sense, ladybugs are, for change there a. Good son right yeah. I believe they're referenced in your, your, new book about the. Signs yeah we have a whole section on what they mean, so if you've got some bug burder critter out there you can look it up, under for Goldberg's or deer or goose, or dubs or whatever. And there it is you look it up and go. Oh that's what that means so I think it's interesting Mike used to send. A FOX, and he also sent mallards on. My pile because maller Words mate for life and he would send geese. And geese mate, for? Life, and he would send a pair every anniversary and on Valentine's he. Sent, a pair of mallards to let me know that. There's an eternal payer forever and always and there was, and I just cried and say thank you Mike from, Valentine's appreciate, but remember always be. Open to the signs. And don't out your pet you, doubt, yourself but let your. Pet come on down what's our next one what do we, have I got this whole thing's just ringing over here Our next question I've often heard people, say that a soul may need help crossing over is..
