"Boston beer withdrew guidance. It gave in july saying it had overstated demand for its hard seltzer business. Emily is the hard siltser trend over. Please say yes i hope. It's not as hard seltzer aficionado myself. I know that my consumption of truly or white clar all the numerous other heart. Seltzer brand has not necessarily decreased over the past year. But i will say there are a lot of people that are no longer buying. Their heart seltzer in stores. They're going out with friends or the distribution for heart. Shelters tends to be much smaller so for that reason boston. Beer did withdraw that prior guidance. It's not great to see a withdrawal guidance so soon after the issued that guidance which was already much lower than the guidance that they had issued even earlier this year so the trend is certainly downward. But i will say this. Despite what happens with heart seltzer despite how fragmented the industry as. I do think that boston beer has a lot of opportunities ahead of it. They have reinvented themselves as a business. They're not afraid to move fast. They have great distribution they've made smart partnerships. And i think they're well prepared for whatever the next best thing is. Do you think there are just too many hard seltzer brands out there. And if so do some just go away. Or is there a chance to be consolidation here. Or is there really no need for consolidation. Because they're all basically the same thing as a consumer. I think there's there's never too many brands. But i do. Think your point as an investor. I don't think that will see. The number of brands sustain themselves over the long term that we see today but the big ones the ones by ab bed. The Dangers of Sugar and Children

"We all know that sugar isn't good for us but really let's take a deep dive into why we really need to limit it in our kids diets. Oh absolutely well. I think you know. Sometimes we forget that during times of rapid growth like in childhood and adolescence that you know kids bodies are really sensitive to the influence of dieting activity. Because they're growing so fast they're seltzer turning over rapidly and that makes them especially vulnerable to the effects of food of physical activity and weight and even environmental damage that can occur and so we really need to put an emphasis during this time of rapid cell growth to make sure that the genes that are being activated or turning on towards health not towards a genetic susceptibility and sugar can actually displace some of these high value. Nutrition foods that play in essential role not just in growth but an immunity but also cognition and genetic expression okay. That's something that we don't typically hear about. And so what about the things we do hear about a lot in terms of childhood obesity. Type two diabetes like these things. We should be concerned about. Oh absolutely i mean first off anytime you look at childhood obesity wolf whether you know kids are really actually normal weight or an overweight. Too much sugar again. Just places. high value nutrition and micronutrients that can increase the inflammatory process that leads to chronic disease over time. Even kids who were teenagers who are overweight and adolescents have a significantly higher risk of colon cancer later in life. I mean we're even seeing precursors in heart disease in children. I mean if you look at like obesity in preschoolers. I think it's risen from around five percent in the early seventies like nineteen seventy two up to close to fourteen percent

Ice tea for their their sunrise drinks. So it's not we're gonna be seeing a lot more of this But yeah apparently. Like i just i just had to google this quietly while doing this because i was like. I'm sitting here with this. Paps coffee thing and i was like i. I think there's caffeine in it. I've been telling myself that But then after the mountain dew stuff. So i had to google and apparently i guess the difference here in what kind of sets them apart from the controversial way of doing. This is that it's not added artificially they're not like four low going up by being like now inject the caffeine. It's just like because there's coffee in it the key. The caffeine comes from the coffee. So i guess that somehow less for logo the logo than four loko But so let's talk about. Let's talk about boston bureau truly. I'm sure this is something you know. A lot about Given your background hammer But there were some alarm bells going off in this very very hot industry and just to give folks and background here. I mean we. Most of this growth seems to trace back to around twenty fifteen twenty sixteen. I think that one year there was this number that got thrown around a lot of three thousand percent growth. Hit hard seltzer. And i'm like well when you go from two to twenty one or sometimes those numbers look impressive. But from 2016 on we've seen an average of one hundred twenty eight percent growth in this one category just in the heart shelters every year and so in two thousand sixteen and by one count it was forty one million dollar industry. It is currently. I think for twenty for this year. It was at two point. Five billion so from forty one million to two point five billion. that's that's a substantial growth. "We have to really know where we stand in this arena and we have to know what we're willing to put up with and what we're not willing to put up with. We've i think we do a really good job of having each other's backs in the in this public arena because you know like the people will pick you apart for anything and everything. And i think having her on. My team has helped me like we stand up to bullies together. We avoid criticism together. We like deal with tricky situation. And we we do everything together and i think just having her to protect and i think she will. I can't speak free. Just but i feel acted by her. So that the partnership for me works really well. I wouldn't be able to do it without her because i need her. Not only as my host but as a friend and as like a confidante to do this and be able to show up in the public eye and deal with all of the bucking bullshit that we deal with everyday not only in sobriety. But like also just internet trolls. Yeah for me if you like. The podcast has helped and a few as a. I've gotten closer to kate be. I'm not as ashamed anymore. It's kind of become a sense of pride being sober rather than shameful. Like i was drunk. I don't look anymore. It's like. I have an pablo my look at it more like i'm sober. I'm doing the right thing for myself and choosing myself And last a very important though. Is that the podcast. Honestly helps keep me accountable because i do not want to let forget about letting myself down. I don't wanna let kate down. I don't let the squad down one hundred and ten percent. The podcast holds my holds me accountable. I appreciate that you said that too. Because i never like. I didn't have the shame heart about being an alcoholic which i didn't know what strange right. I didn't realize that a lot of other people have that piece like i just fell. I felt relieved. Because i felt like once i understood what the problem was that i knew how to fix it. You know even like going to a like. I felt like i was a part of this super exclusive club that not everybody could get into like i thought i was involved in the coolest thing ever you know being over and really just getting my shit together because i was such a disaster of a human for so long in. That's what i was. Shameful about wasn't shameful about the alcohol. Part i was shameful that i felt so weak because i couldn't handle my problems in my life. You know i was always like what the fuck is wrong with me that i just can't deal with anything you know. Why am i drowning every feeling every problem everything in my life with alcoholic. What is wrong with me. So it was the not being able to cope that i felt bad about. But i guess. I kind of didn't relate it even to the alcoholism part i don't know i just always felt awesome being an alcoholic because it fixed me. I was always proud of that. I always felt like it was my superpower That's interesting i know right. That's like our whiskey break but you said that in the past that being sober sobriety is like a superpower and it it truly is though. I know it sounds silly times. But it's like it's kind of amazing and people like okay like no no no. It's awesome yeah. It is because it made me. It made me an individual with inner strength on a level that i never knew i was capable of in had i not been an alcoholic and had to get sober..

"I am a life coach and a recovering alcoholic. So i put out a new episode every wednesday talking about how to develop life skills coping skills how to deal with recovery all of those things. That's what we do here. Every wednesday a new episode comes out and occasionally i do some extra things live trainings. Webinars all that good kind of stuff and i do have some pretty big things coming up just in the next few weeks right. We've got a few things going on. So the best thing you can do is get in our free facebook group. The addiction unlimited facebook group. It's totally private. Nobody can see her there. doesn't pop up on your news feed or anything like that. The only people that can see you in there or the other people in there. And i'm gonna be doing a five day live training in that group. This isn't going to be like other lives that i do where they're broadcast. All over all the social media this will only be in the addiction limited group so the best thing you can do right now is jump in their joined that group and then you'll have all the information i'll be posting about it. I just posted a couple of times about it yesterday for people to start signing up and all that information is starting to go out so it is a five day live training really free and we're gonna talk about getting sober in staying sober and all the important pieces of that. I'm going to answer a lot of you guys questions. I get emailed questions. I get deemed. I get private messaged questions. And sometimes i jump in that facebook group in i ask you guys. Hey what are you struggling with right. Now what do you want me to talk about. And i did that for this training. Maybe two weeks ago and you guys gave me incredible feedback. Our facebook group is such a warm and loving kind supportive. Plays which is exactly how i always want to be in recovery especially but in life in general there are too many people out there that are judgmental and kind of tearing each other down and not being supportive and shaming you for your ideas or your passions or your goals and i know for sure i have dealt with some of that in my life right as my business and entrepreneur goals get bigger and bigger and bigger. You have people that. I can't see that vision. Same thing with quitting drinking or maybe leaving a really long relationship when you start saying that to the world people are going to kind of go against you. Even if they don't mean to not be supportive it's just how it works and it sucks so that is one of the things that always want everything i do in every group i have to be is supportive and kind and encouraging. Everybody's journey does not look the same in. It's not going to our exact details are never gonna match but we have so much to give one another so much to help each other with an teach each other with so much we can learn from each other and that's the environment that we have in all of my groups so jump in the addiction unlimited facebook group. That is the greatest thing you can do. I will link to the five day live training in the show notes. So you can sign up for it. I'll put the link in the show notes and you will definitely find the link in the addiction limited facebook group. I will put that link in the show notes as well. You guys are gonna love this episode. Today i got one of the other most popular addiction podcasts. I rounded a mop. It took me a little bit of work. But they're fabulous you guys. We have seltzer squad. Kate ingest from the seltzer squad. Podcast on addiction unlimited. And they are so lovely and delightful..

"Anyway. But you know the wire apple thing about that. Is you talk about how your life is. Lucky if i had tried to get a scholarship. The or guard westerner even florida. I wasn't even close to being good enough. But you know when you're harbor you don't have to be that good to play ball as long as you can read. It works out. So that's what the next logical question is what. What years did you play. And how many times did you be. Yeah where we be gaels twice. But i play. I got my second year. I couldn't play anymore. Also got nervous. Because i i wound up one way going to The the apart there and there was some guy throwing softball around. I not do that. And so i could throw a off pretty fast and so i played while for these guys and they paid me and i got a nervous wreck. 'cause you know at that time you you couldn't take money and play ball. But then i got i. I couldn't play ball anymore. But i i played softball for these guys in in a little square in cambridge. Always a lot of fun. And i i may not get through school. So you're you're one of these. You're one of these guys that that got to got to a place like harvard on a scholarship and then had the opportunity to go ahead and get an education at harvard and And off you went and know the funny thing about it. I think i learned a great deal. i think i got some very great advice some a lot of people that i knew there. I don't know that my education. Or what i ever did coming through anything but i think it does your way you learn about whether it's from your franjo people you know but it was. It was a great time when you when you when you got involved with the horses at that point. Ed seltzer is with us. And of course he invited anderson. And ed ed takes on know they take on different partners and i think Your daughter beverage by white now right. Yes yes i'm married beverly Why i married five years ago but we've been together fifty years. Yes and you talk about you. Know talk about the development of of starting to go to the races and and it. You've also you've also had a very good instinct. It seems to me. Ed picking trainers you've you invariably are involved with real horsemen and not necessarily mainstream names. The first time. When i when i walked up with horses and the first time i i didn't like what was going on so i went to try to find a trainer and I called a bunch of people. When i said i had one horse with everybody hung up. I wound up calling swim peers. And he told me that his son had been a jock agent and that he was going to florida for three or four weeks and He would train for me up until the time that they came back to chicago. And then i would have to find someone else and so when he called me to tell me he was coming back and he would send me a check. I said no. We'll have dinner and at that time. i was going with and then married My wife the mother of my children who passed away in nineteen eighty. Sheriff and i lost this time. Because i saw joe i went to dinner and i had a few martinis which i probably shouldn't have and anyway i talked him as a train for me. It wasn't easy and he did and we just had gentleman had an incredible ride. We really had a good time. We claim courses we bought. It was the best time. I think that i could have. During that period of time we have time and we want a lot of races and you want some big races. I mean i'm i to thank you know mid west chicago and monmouth park and Y'all gonna burst the second year. I think Nineteen sixty two. It wasn't it was about three year. I claim the horse called ghetto. Banji over ten thousand dollars. We won the arlington handicap And that was the first big big race we had Then we want accuweather. But it was really. It was just one of those times when the world was different than racing was being pa- were difference. And i was so fortunate to find joe and joe and his family moved to new jersey and i stayed in chicago. Okay because i know. I wound up getting rookie. I can't even tell you how lucky yeah. It was a strange time. I very tragic and that. That was the most incredible experience of my life. He was the most wonderful man i ever known. I mean he was like a father to me. Went by son died when my wife dies he he was the best horseman. I've ever known alec house you're going to.

"With standing out. As opposed to like staying true to ourselves. You know like just falling our instincts and doing what we're interested in. We try to create miracle or exist as a platform for our creative peers are like friends and our networks. And you know we have like so many artists friends that we want to give a platform to and ideally if we do that right if we like kind of stay true shoot ourselves. We won't even have to worry about sending out we. Will you know that's up. That's such an awesome way of of looking at it right like not not trying to stand out but being being true to yourself. As such an important thing. I think Four companies to to admire into a us to to to strive to. Because you know. It's i i think it's it's easy to i say it's easy not not that i'm a successful e kind of company But i think it's probably easier to To look for Avenues in which to expand that kind of take you away from your initial vision or your initial statement of who yours. Is you know the the mind body and spirit and i. I think it's really cool. As far as the mind body. Spirit in assigning you know aspects of your art in the art of your your friends and the folks that you know to fit within those categories and in broaden it out. I want to say i. I mentioned that transfer the seltzer fan. I'm i wasn't at first but i started. I started to make the shift. What would you say to the to. The company is from miracle seltzer right and they have a pickle. Rick themed seltzer a which is pickle flavored and they partnered with with pickle juice. In order to create a pickle seltzer flavor and My my very first thought was oh. I don't know. Wine and Beer Makers Wait for Recovery

"The pandemic started in March. I'd like the two of you to rate your alcohol consumption in one of the high Okay, uh, given on a percentage basis, Tucker, if you look at it, on average weekly basis, alcohol consumption in your household. It's a yes today today. Or like marks throughout the pandemic, So like when this first broke, I was having a glass or two every day just to use my nerves. But now I was that was that during the show or after Foa after you know, after I don't drink during the work of anything, Not yet, at least, um, but, you know, as of today, like, you know, I'm Once in a while during the week. I'll have a glass of wine randomly, but then on weekend, I'll just you know. I've been a glass of wine or a beer a night throughout all of this, which is definitely higher than my previous alcohol consumption. But there is no You know, weekend where? On drinking a bottle of wine with my wife on having two or three glasses. Journalist making is just that consistent glass tonight, right? Yes. So in terms of my consumption down for most the pandemic just when when your wife is pregnant, and you can't go anywhere like you just feel kind of weird about drinking alone Plus that look that you get Yeah. Have you gotten that? Look, you're drinking a nice glass of wine, and she's pregnant. Sit on the couch and just glaring at you. I've got you Just hold it up. And you're like. Oh, this is so wonderful, isn't it? You know, like you said, you didn't mind. Yeah, I would. I didn't need much sushi or drink much wine during the two different nine months that my wife is pregnant. But I would say, post baby, I think we're actually just about back to normal, like well, normally do like a bottle of wine on like a Friday or something like that. Maybe another one on a Saturday but generally don't really do much during the week. So we're about the same. But what wine and beer makers are saying is that even though consumers are buying Mohr stuff for home consumption, it still isn't enough to offset the fact that they're not going out. And drinking in the same volumes, which you could make a case right now be such a bad thing for our livers. But for these companies, you know they're looking at this saying, Hey, what's the deal here? I also do wonder for companies that don't have a hard seltzer brand. If that's eating into it as well. I mean, you know, we're in slightly different positions that maybe we were 10 years ago, Chuck, but I mean, we're I n the pandemic. And I were a 22 year old. I would imagine my alcohol consumption would be down very significantly, compared Tio what I was drinking at that stage in my life. I think mine would be higher. 22 years. I don't think so. The only thing constraining my alcohol consumption of 22 was the price. Yeah, Way cheaper to drink at home. It's fair. Oh, yeah. See for me. It was just I I didn't really drink unless I was at a bar. Oh, like hell up 22 year old tuck. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, clearly struggling with with the restaurants and bars closed. There is just not nearly as much profit for any of these companies.

"I mean, I think that I mean I'm not going to get here if you want to fucking put it in a can and try and tell them it's not going to happen. But I mean if you want to if you want to sell it and you're on Tap Room, I think that's I mean I used to agree with that at the same time though. If you put me in a tap room right now put me off obviously with a driver you put me a few beers in I'm getting a little bit chatty and you hand me a glass of like this Vibe Pumpkin Spice Girls. Or something like this something that's just different that makes me want to try it like hell. Yeah, I'll try it. Like I I'm a drinker like I I like to try things are new when they're exciting and that are different than what other people are doing and right I don't care if that is a Seltzer. But if you put me in that same tap room and say have you tried our lime Seltzer like no. No, thanks. Like I'll I'll try whatever that next beer is that I'm yeah, but something like this or like a pumpkin spice or whatever it is that these people are doing that are different. Like I'm I'm okay with that wage, you know, you can still be creative with a Seltzer. Yeah. I think that's definitely the case especially if you're able to get you know, the quality of fruit ingredients and brought to you know, the kind of if you're if you're if you're able to make you know stuff that is rated very highly on untappd with when it's a fruit beer. I think you can probably do the same thing cranky. A bit easier, you know to kind of dad that fruit to a little bit simpler base. You know, this this smells great. Yeah, and they're also may I mean it does it does have incredibly high ratings on on that wonderful website, you know that one still use that we should drink this last one as we wrap up. Let's do age another Halloween themed beer. Our Johnny has joined us. You guys can't see unless you're watching the the secret video feed that we have but this is one of his favorite birthday and it's actually in a bottle which is at ease and we'll talk about that in a second. I think we might of teased that a little now. Nope. That was the show we lost track. So I did recently a showdown at Darkness with Eric and we talked about a lot of stuff. It was a really fun show and then lost the show because I'm an idiot off. And had to try to recreate the excitement of that show the next day on the phone and I think live we talked about this beer and it being in bottles a lot. And then the next day we didn't even mention. I just thought so, this is Mayan Sacrifice from Darkness Brewing not made with actual mine's not made with actual Minds. It is an imperial golden milk stout with caramel coffee cake Co in pasilla, Chile Peppers and Maverick chocolate. It is golden and color. It does taste like ass down..

It's not even in that category minute. It definitely finishes a little bit lighter a little cleaner than a beer would but like that first, you know sip it's all fruit. Yeah. It's it's not that far off from home a lot of the pretty beers that you would get but then quickly changes. Yeah, and that's fun. Exactly. Right and I think that's what's been neat. Honestly. Well, that's it. I think that's also been so my confusion with it. Like if you're a brewery that does sell liquor and things like that and you've got a soda gun behind your barn wage. Got Vodka sitting right there. Like why the hell are you making a Seltzer? Like just somebody orders? Typically I can do that, you know and then know, there you go yourself there. The Obviously-Going-To-Die Stocks

"We're going to start with the stock of the day. Don't call it a comeback bed bath and beyond has been here for years. It's just all that time someone else was running the company but now that Mark Trittin has been in the Corner Office for about a year. We're seeing days like today second quarter profits came in exponentially higher than expected. Same store sales were positive for the first time in four years. The stock is up more than thirty percent this morning. I'm assuming at least part of what we're seeing with the stock is some shortsellers saying that's it. I. Think. I'm. Probably. Bed, bath, and congratulations to march written and Beth by best buy bed bath and beyond. For this quarter, March, written formerly of target, of course, and a few other places before that, I think Nordstrom's and I believe. He had a stint at Nike to could be misquoting. This bed bath and beyond is in a group of companies retailers that I like to call the obvious obviously going to die crowd. And the funny thing about companies that are obviously going to die when they get the right mix of management decision making and in some help from the environment and you know just a little bit of because no one's more aware of a company's struggles at least no one should be more aware of a company struggles then the people inside the company. And that's when you plan your strategy. What are our tools? How can we navigate our way through whatever we found ourselves in business is not easy and certainly for this group retailers that I'm Gonna I'm GONNA hold up. Bed Bath and beyond as one Chris. But you know how about Game Stop Game Stop. The seller of video game systems and Software that of course is going to be the next blockbuster. Right if they writing that headline since two thousand and nine, how `Bout Michael's the craft store everybody knows I. Y has an Amazon run over. And the granddaddy of all of these. Companies that are obviously going to fail. They're obviously going to be taken bricks and mortar is dead is best buy which just before the podcast we were talking about how? How many listeners? Realize, that best buy has been at ten bagger over the past decade they went through some struggles they brought in new management. WHO had a plan? and. I'm sure they were mocked and I'm sure people were skeptical and they executed on that plan and best buy, which was a sub twelve dollar stock in. Two Thousand Ten two thousand eleven is today roughly one hundred twenty dollars stock. And so when you see. I'm a kick myself a little bit on dust by iron best buy bed bath and beyond his too many bees. Bed Bath and beyond. I actually did a little bit of work about a year ago as I was discussing with one of our with one of our foolish coworkers. About this basket of Taylor's who are sure to die. And we had this one. We had game stop we have Michael on the docket and I went through you know what this company's history of cash flow was and what they've done with it and how they've raise capital, and this is before Mr Trenton came on but I. It laid the groundwork for someone with. A better vision to come in and knocked the ball out of the park which you've seen today and and best bed bath, and beyond is as we speak it's now a six th bagger since March of this year and so in the a roughly a year ago when I did my work because I was vigorously debating co I pointed out that in the previous six years here was bed bath and beyond had produced four point two, billion dollars in free cash flow. They had also issued one point five billion dollars in debt and debated smart about the debt because the debts. Basically staggered I think is a ten twenty and thirty years. and. They have to pay it back anytime soon, and they had gone on a massive buyback program. They've they've retired a ton of their shares. Now. Slowly melting ice cube no one's going to want to own this business what have you. But at the time the stock was about ten eleven dollars the company is training but four times enterprise value of free cash flow. that. That is rock bottom fools that is something that is going to go away. That's what the market is telling you. Flash, forward, to today and oh positive cops. Oh. We have a plant. They've they've suspended their dividend they've they've halted their. They've halted their. They suspended the dividend halted their share buyback plan I believe in. April. But with this. With this. report, they have generated a ton of cash flow. They've deployed it smartly they took down some temporary which they had out as part of the PARCO vid. They have bought back twenty percent of that long dated not in any danger to come calling debt they bought that back at a discount. Which is brilliant. They. So they're down to their down net debt down by about thirty percent from where they started the year. They have a store optimization program, which is something that a lot of these retailers the slowly melting ice cube crowd will call them. They are reducing their store count 'cause they don't need it because they can move to ECOMMERCE, which they've done a little bit they can move to. The geography is able he served by less stores and you see a lot of. Traffic that previously went through one store transitions to another and. They are steal a Ron grosses them here they are firing on all cylinders and I'm not sure. Anyone. Thought is coming. I am I am both thrilled that they are doing this they're having success because everyone loves a comeback. I'm less thrilled that you own it and I don't. But. That's mainly because I had this in my hand a year ago Chris and I'm holding it up. The skull of York. And and I'm looking at it and I didn't at least put a little field position because as I said, at the time training for four times free cash flow that is close to no-brainer territory for me. So two other quick data points before we go to our next story. Not. Surprisingly digital sales of big driver this quarter. That goes hand in hand with the store closures so Another smart move by Trittin and his team. And also Happy to see that they're you know suspending the dividend that they're. Suspending the sticking with the we're not going to buy back shares. I'm also happy to see they're not offering guidance. Their New Orleans. No need to at this point. Let's move on the third quarter sales, for Pepsi, grew five percent and. Kind of like we saw three months ago snacks and some of the beverages particularly the Seltzer. Part of their portfolio helping to make up for the fact that somebody restaurants are closed. So many sports and entertainment venues are closed and. That's that's the stock is basically flat and this kind of flat for all of twenty twenty but. Nice to see that the the salty snack part of the business is making up for the sort of the tried and true Pepsi part of the business. Gilead household particularly the soon to be sixteen year. Old Member of the Gillies household has been doing his part to. To to help with the salty snacks portion and shareholders. Thank him. Yeah I was GONNA? Say. You know dude. There are other food groups other than Doritos. Look it was a perfectly acceptable boring quarter from a perfectly acceptable boring company and and I think you know Chris but maybe some of the listeners not know. For, me to call a company perfectly boring from for me. That's a compliment because I like businesses that are boring. Not Terribly exciting person myself I enjoy. Investments in companies that just actually do what we expect them to do, and essentially just get it done quarter after quarter. Pepsi is not GonNa. You know if you'RE LOOKING FOR PEPSI TO BE A. Ten bagger. You know anytime soon like the aforementioned by we mentioned earlier. That's not gonNA happen. They are just a steady bedrock performer for your portfolio and we all need a few of those. So we can go after the more exciting things in our portfolio. Yes. So it was it was A. It was a boring it was a boring quarter but boring is nice because boring boring says, oh, we end up four four plus percent on. Organic revenue growth total revenue growth went up five plus percent. EPS Is up ten percent year-over-year just for the quarter. It's still down for year to date, but of course, Mindy Stan why because the previous quarter? Cova. no-one no-one was new what was going on? So we kind forgive that. They are they're pointing towards the full year. They did give guidance their point point to a full year of approximately four percent revenue growth approximately five fifty core earnings. Stocks at about one hundred, forty bucks. So it's not cheap. But it's not terribly expensive, and again, this is one of those widows and orphans stocks. You can buy put it away and we'll see you when you retire. Hugh Johnston, who's the CFO at Pepsi? Granular on CNBC this morning talking about because when you think about all of the food and beverages they have across their portfolio he got granular talking about the new cheetos macaroni and cheese saying you know they're trying to keep up with demand as a fan of both cheetahs and macaroni and cheese I haven't tried it yet but I can see why it's popular. Any. Do they give any color on the? Two. Portals that they were direct to consumer sites that they launched earlier this year snacks dot com and Pantry shop dot com. Sadly, Chris they did not at least in the conference call or the press the presser maybe in the ten Q I haven't read the ten q yet obviously but. Yeah no snacks dot com I can confirm both of those sites are open and accepting offers as of this moment. SNACKS DOT COM and Pantry shop I think is an interesting one because they are. You know you are buying your you're you're buying all of your Pepsi Slash quaker products. Simultaneously in in in the various groups. So if you want your everyday Pantry, you want to get your your oatmeal and your healthy. Your healthy Chia bars and your rice cakes do people still eat rice cakes and if so why? You can get all those delivered at the same time or your snack package your breakfast package You know it's it's interesting to to have it delivered. I I'M NOT A. I I'm one of the three people in North America is still doing own grocery shopping. So I'm probably target here but I know a lot about the people how to use it and I think probably if I let my as I mentioned a sixteen year old note that this thing existed. It might be his only source of nourishment. So yeah, don't don't. On, the first time I went to that website I kind of went crazy to the point where in the box showed up to two days later even my kids were just like. This is a lot of snacks and was like, yeah I may have ordered too many but but I regret nothing. Playboy. Enterprises is returning to the public markets after nearly a decade and because I was are out of fashion, playboy is going to be doing this through a speck. Mountain Crest acquisition is a current special purpose acquisition company that is going to be taking playboy public through a reverse merger and wants to deal is done that company where the ticker is MC. ABC? Is. The playboy name and the ticker symbol P L B Y? I guess I, I saw this story and I thought, okay I'd that's one way for playboy, which is a private company and has been since twenty eleven. I. Guess That's one way to raise money. I, I, I'm hard pressed though to think that. The second round of playboy being a public company is going to go any better for the company and for investors than it did the first time around. That was my initial take as well, and you say it's one way to raise money I'd say it's one way for insiders to cash out. Tomato Tomato. The more I think about this though. I could be spectacularly wrong and it wouldn't be the first time. This might be quite this might be interesting I can see. I can see a number of thing, and I just find this interesting from a number of re. I as you point out. Yes, playboy. Is private the SPEC the Special Purpose Acquisition Company Mountain Crest Acquisition, company. It's out there. Now it's got. It's a walking wallet got a bunch of cash their stocks over ten dollars specs go at ten bucks. There's nothing you can. You can go buy today Chris if you want. And You can just sit there and wait until the transaction is completed in q one. If. You WANNA own playboy. So, playboy today is not playboy of the past for thing, magazines have died. So, there are no issues of the iconic famous magazine. These no regularly published issues and I believe they went to quarterly publishing versus. Monthly publishing before that. So what playboy is trying to be or this new iteration trying to be a licensing company and they're calling it across four major categories they're saying sexual wellness, which I'm just going to skip to the next one, which is style and apparel which is. Apparel. and accessories for men and women globally gaming and lifestyle also digital gaming hospitality and spirits. So you can get yourself some playboy-branded Bourbon. And beauty and grooming, which is fragrance skin care grooming cosmetics for men and women. Okay. That sounds interesting. They're not a publishing company more avoiding that and I guess they have a bunch of online stuff as well which. Tell people they can go look on their spare time but. They are calling themselves a streamlined high growth business. The company has four hundred million in cash flow contract through the next eighteen years. and has products available for sale and in ten thousand major retail stores. In the US, this is a brandon company. Now, now, what you think of the brand and what you associate with the brand, the iconic a bunny ears brand, of course. Is Is. is going to be probably a nuanced and varied. I can understand why some people. Would not want to do with this brand I completely understand that is not. Bend the most shall we say progressive brand in history? It has fostered some. Attitudes, particularly women that. I think it's fair to say some would find distasteful and I I completely understand why? And for those people, they're just not going to be shareholders and that's that's fine. But what I find interesting about this if this, if the licensing deal and we have, we've already had a certain dry run of this in. Do you know the magazine Maxim? It was. So it's a men's lifestyle magazine, girly pictures, and whatever it was bought by an entity called big holdings. I'm going to say eight nine years ago. With the goal of they went into change it from the the lad magazine into more of a lifestyle brand licensing deal what playboys doing. Now. I mentioned earlier it's important to have You know leaders businesses, you respect and trust big lorry holdings is not one of those businesses but I do know that they even though they're circulation sales are down significantly there they have turned that profitable on a small scale with the licensing strategy. I suspect the playboy will do a better job. And It will depend on the valuation coming out but you know when analogy I might throw up as. As a comparison is. Franchising businesses in the in the restaurant space. So a restaurant brands international, which owns importance and Burger King. Dunkin brands, which of course owns your beloved Dunkin donuts. Those are those are check cashing businesses, they they sell the franchise to a Franchisee. And then take tax six percent of their gross sales and royalties every month plus x percent for advertising they sell you a system and so those are very asset light cash-rich capital Genita- businesses. And part of me wonders here it's obviously not the same as selling. Coffee and whatever. But part of me wonders if that is what this business will look like, and if they are truly in the growth business and the cash generation business, this might be an interesting opportunity. And you just hit on what I think is the most interesting thing to watch. Once it becomes a public entity again, the high growth aspect of this because now we're going to see Now, we're GONNA see through quarterly reports. Okay. Are you growing? Because that's one of those things where we investors and the market in general get to decide what we consider to be high growth And I again I had I had your initial take which was. Oh please. Like if it didn't work the first time. It's going to work less well this time. The more I read about like. I'M GONNA keep an eye on this. Curiosity. Jim Gillies always talking to you. With Jockstrap-Scented Candles, Babe Wine Wants to Bring the NFL Home

"Wouldn't want to spend twenty nine dollars on a candle that smells like a jockstrap well, plenty of people. But Hey, if that's your thing now you can babe wind. The official wine of the NFL has launched a line of Senate. Candles intended to bring the entire football experience including the locker room into your home. The twenty twenty NFL season kicked off last Thursday night, and with only a few exceptions, fans can't be there in person this year. So what better way to experience the joys of life football from the sweaty jock straps to the smell of overpriced eighteen dollar Nachos then to invest in Sports Senate Kennels at least. So goes the thinking of the marketing folks at bay wine babe is a can wine owned by anheuser Busch inbev parent company. Of Budweiser, when founder Josh Ostrovsky started the company back in Twenty fifteen it was his goal to make babe the bud light of the wine world know Somalia needed here guys behind the cheeky ads. Is a strategy intended to pump up online sales and the funny bones of Anheuser Busch's most coveted hard to win over market of millennials. As we've reported here before beer sales have been flat lining for some time younger drinkers in particular are increasingly turning the cocktails hard seltzer wine and wine spritzers although it's still the tiniest of all spirits, categories, sales of canned wine or bubbling over over the twelve months ending this June off premises canned wine sales grew by almost eighty percent according to Nielsen off premises. Sales are all those purchased outside bars and restaurants by the way clearly where all the action has been happening the last six months. All these stats are serious business for Babe wines huge parents searching as it is for ways to continue growing as its core product beer struggles. But let's go back to the locker room. Shall we examined the connection between Anheuser Busch's falling beer sales and candles that smell like musk and men's deodorant? Well, no one's buying the bud light of wine for the way it's grapes are grown now they're buying it 'cause babe wine is an instagram hit Ostrovsky is better known by his instagram handle the fat Jewish. He has ten million followers. The brand has one hundred, eighty thousand. So far Ostrovsky is nothing if not both funny and provocative, the brand partnered with dating out, bumble this summer to pay the moving costs to people sick of the X.'s they got stuck living with during the pandemic the two companies mocked up a bright pink truck emblazoned with the sign, your XS canceled babe and Bumbler here to help you move on literally. To enter the contest participants needed to what else tag themselves on the Instagram Post like the signature background in all of its ads, babes, stunts, or designed for instagram especially to attract younger women market anheuser-busch fervently wants to grow. If it's not obvious by now the candles themselves may makes some money. You can buy all three for sixty nine dollars, but they're primarily an attention getting device it to get you to stop scrolling in hit the buy button on a box of canned rose eh read or Pino Griego it's online marketing shrewd. You might say but it's not like babe wind has the wind can market to itself. There are at least one hundred brands of canned wine as makers scrambled to get a sip of this growing market while no single brand stands out as the most popular one that poses a challenge to babe wine is yes. Way Rosa like babe wine. Yes. Way Rosie was launched on Instagram in two thousand thirteen friends Eric Blumenthal and Nikki Hugo near started as an instagram account celebrating Rosie wine. Selling actual y came later the fashion editor and art director soon had a hit on their hands in twenty eighteen there bottled Rosa caught on at target just this year they began selling their grenache blandon Pastel pink cans. Yes Way Rosa doesn't have the NFL stamp of approval minds you but with almost no one in the stands that stadium branding is far less valuable than it would have been pre pandemic and that gives the women behind Guess Way Rosaiah a lot more runway. But they're going to have to come up with something pretty startling to steal attention back for turf, Nacho and. jockstrap scented candles.

"Today we are jumping in there's another episode that is a hall episode. So today's the Aldy Hall. GonNa make the joke, the hall yeah. I know I always make the joke it's I. Think I'm over the joke. Brought it back. I love all the all the is actually a new discovery for me, and now I describe it as like a less expensive trader Joe's. Isn't that kind of what it's like pretty much which is crazy because trader Joe's is already inexpensive. Like yeah. It's like the dollar store trader joes well, I. Mean the last time I said it was like smartandfinal meets the dollar store and some people got upset about that comparison. But like I love the dollar store and by the way, people need to know that the food that you get at the dollar store is not older expired in some cases it's a lot of big brands that are specifically making foods for the dollar store. So I don't know that but I a big fan of the dollar store. So I take that as a compliment if somebody would say that anyway, that's just me. But today we are going through a whole bunch of products I went to all the last week. I purchased don't know like nine hundred item. So. A lot of the stuff that I bought were holding off in a few more weeks. We'll do it all the hall I'm GonNa. Go back to all the fill it out. But I, I mean I literally got like fifteen things and we're going to try one, seven, eight, eight of them today. It's going to be tough for me to not eat that one thing that's in the bag that we're gonNA wait on because it just I can I look at it every day and I wanna eat it I'm guessing it's peanut butter flavored Jamie please hide this from him. It'd be having other PB item today. It's a little bit of a weird. I am I'm actually really excited with that one. So I'm excited about everything today zero. All right. So before we jump in and start eating everything in sight Mike, what you got. Are you ready for your new favourite fall drink? Viva Seltzer has just come out with a new flavor. Do you WANNA guess. So it's fall themed. So the is it the I think it's V. visit. Oh, it's. I don't know. Could. Use this Jamie what does it looks like the va I don't know. Whatever you want to her five. The new flavor is pumpkin spice. So it's a hard seltzer pumpkin spice flavors. It looks like right now it's only being sold at Kroger Stores and Kentucky Tennessee and Ohio. But I'm sure we'll go nationwide wouldn't go nationwide. By, the way I don't know if you know this but the vive or. Whatever it's called their heart seltzer drinks or one hundred calories and two grams of carbs. Yeah. That's not bad except the only bad part of that is hard. Seltzer Gross. That's my. I don't I am not a fan and the the idea of like a pumpkin spice flavor that sounds terrible to me. Might be harsh right now no I feel like the only excuse for a pumpkin spice flavored cocktail as if it's like a frozen sweet. Type of like creating. Yes. Creamy. So the article that I that I read this from, they got a taste of it and they said it's amazing like it's and they thought the same thing like it would be terrible and they loved it so. I will give it a try I'm GONNA give it the benefit of. And a our little community of Woodland Hills is in the news like big time in the news Amazon fresh. The one that we have that we've been getting our deliveries from there finally, opening it up to walk in customers. It's the first in the country like no other Amazon, fresh stores allowing customers walk inside except for ours right now. And it's by appointment only I guess you have to go on and make an appointment. And, the store does have cashiers but they they encourage you to use their dash cart our showing Jamie this the other day. So it's a cart with a screen on it and every time you pick up an item, you scan the item on the car and then charges you on your Amazon Account. So I'm imagining it to punch in your code or something when you get get the cart. And I'm not, GonNa go to any stores as of it on my comfortable yet. But I don't know might be something you might WanNa check out judgy when you say You might want to go into a store. That sounds cool. I. The thing I know about Amazon fresh is that whenever I order anything, there's like for every item, there's like eighty eight pieces of packaging. It's like they wrap everything in plastic and in cooler bag, and then in a brown bag and then box. But maybe if you go to the store, you won't get all the packaging but I'm excited actually so I will check it out

"The lowest calorie one we've had by a significant margin, and it's only four percent by volume ABC. gluten-free, okay, so we're back in the realm of clear Seltzer is here. WHO's going I? I'm getting some tastes now so. It's very light. The the flavors are light so again. This is my preference. I like a little bit later of right. I want something too sweet too powerful, so this nice and light I get the cranberry. We'll see other people say, but I don't get the lime as much. I definitely do get the cranberry. The carbonation seems a little low I. Don't know if we've reported in a cup, but it's got low carbonation super easy drinking light. It's gotTa Lower AB so quick aside. It's important to look at the Seltzer. ABC's because most will be five percent, but if you think about it, one percenting editor, so a four percent is considerably lower of an ABC to have for Seltzer. If you had six you, you'd have something really strong. Think about six percent. Beer market is a strong beer so I thinking about that five percent and anything below that I think you're going to have a little bit later taste. I mean this is pretty good. In my opinion, the flavor was very white, and the carbonation was very light, which seems odd because there were quite a few bubbles when I poured it. Okay, so having a little bit of this and I'm looking forward to try another flavor. I feel like this up to the promise of white clock could be in that. It's neutral and not sweet without tasting flagpole, and so that's what I like about. It is that it lives up to that promise without the metallic taste. The grand vote people so odd side better lasts. Less breakwater better less less less white claw, better better better better all right, so it stops it why claw goes into the number three spot people who's going to do the honors of putting the lake lives into the wall of order in the fistfight twenty twenty. We are now trying clear coast hospital shelter made by Perrin. WHO's based in comstock park another traditionally beer brewer. In fact, they were acquired few years back by I. Think Colorado Bass. Brewery called Oscar Blues. If my memory serves. So clear coast has one gram of sugar. Three grams of carbohydrates total..

Are Toxins Hiding in My Personal Care Products

"Melissa, thank you so much for being with us today. Hi, thank you for having me I'm so excited to be here. Loved Otehr I've been using the dough tear products for over seven years now, and it's very been very impactful family. That is incredible eleven years, so you've been around almost since the beginning. Yeah Yeah. I'm the one year anniversary. That's amazing so with this topic of detoxifying your personal care, one of the biggest questions that I think a lot of people have is what kinds of ingredients should I watch out for and my personal care products. That's a really great question and a really hard one two, and because the list is so long so as I think about that I think about what are some of the big things that when I pick up a product of the store and I look at the ingredients label what I, really not going to touch with a ten foot pole in those would be things that contain any form of parabens. Any fragrances because those synthetic fragrances are so hard on the body Rhode. Walking Down The candle I'll some people. Might, get headaches from it in some people don't I when I was younger, I didn't I didn't understand why people would get headache I thought that something was wrong with them and what I came to realize later was something was wrong with me. But it was because I had such a tactic lifestyle that my senses. My sensory like my receptors were not picking up on the I should be having a reaction to those kind of things so now that cleansed my roddy now I'm like. Oh, now see what they're saying. So I do try to stay away from synthetic fragrances in particular. some other things, too. That I look out for like the sulfates and invalidates I mean the list is so long, but and that's why the list is so long is because so many of these products or ingredients chemicals. Have different aliases that they go by, and so it's just really hard in know like. You don't even know that that's what you're putting on your skin and in your makeup. Anything that's going on. Your face is going in your mouth. Let's be honest. Is GonNa? Try there, so you are gonNA. Adjust it things that go on your hands. You touch your food. You touch your face so. We. Really don't realize the depth of how much these chemicals are actually impacting our body will, that is very helpful, I think. Like, you said those labels can be very confusing, but those are really helpful things specifically to watch out for when you're picking out those products for your home. Yet and especially for yourself your family. Your pets were all impacted by those things. Absolutely, so my next question for you is I think you touched on this a little bit in your last answer? Why is it that products are able to affect my toxic load? Yeah. That's that is a great question because. Like I said it's going to impact your liver. So things that are going into your body you're liver is part of your filtration systems of we think about the Seltzer on your furnace filter or your car filter or your water filter? They need to be cleaned out after a while because they can only bear so much load before they really functioning well, and so that's the thing that are liver in kidneys in our lungs are doing for our body. Body is they're trying to filter some of that out? But at some point it gets to be too much, and that's when we really start to see the our. Our lifestyle doesn't feel as good as it used to. Like we don't feel like our old selves, and that's really that toxic load is just building up so much on our body that we need a way to get get that out, but we also need to stop bringing so much in. Taxes. Absolutely and you mentioned before that there is just this huge list of. Ingredients that could contribute to our toxic load. which kind of makes some people start to feel overwhelmed about what might be in their house? What do you recommend if I start feeling overwhelmed by trying to clean out my personal care products? Okay that's yeah that that is an overwhelming feeling. Because the average person takes in about five hundred fifteen different chemicals just through their personal care products Lale I know I was thinking about this like. If. You think of every ingredient every chemical being like a sheet of paper you might not feel it in your hand and so light, but if you look at one personal care product that might have twenty six different chemicals in it. You'RE GONNA start to feel that, but think about just kind of think about your day. You Start Your Day off in your bed. You've slept in your bed for about maybe eight or nine hours in whatever laundry detergent maybe fabric softener that you used not only is your skin touching your face. You're smelling it long, so your receptors are taking it in. Then you get up and you take a shower and you think about what? What soap you're using the and conditioner the face wash the base scrub the tone. Are there so many steps to our routine that we just take for granted that we don't even realize how many things were introducing to our bodies? Then go brush Rt.. And then and then and that's. I mean it just as so many that each one of those is carrying a load of you know. Let's say that sheet of paper again. In each one of those has a load of maybe ten twenty six different sheets of paper, and you just loaded all those on now. You're really gonNA feel like a few rings of paper. Feeling in then you're going into the foods that you eat in the air that you breathe at when you really start like it all that it can start to feel like the world is against. Live, it's it's a remarkable thing that are the human body can even endure that much.

Florida Governor Deploys National Guard To Force Residents Back Into Malls, Movie Theaters

"Lord is taking new measures to protect the state from the threat of Corona virus here, how Governor Ron Santa's plans to deploy national. Guard troops to force residents back into the states, malls, movie theater, and later amid growing budget cuts the United States Postal Service is looking to save some money by dumping all the mail in one big pile for everyone to go. We've got the latest on where that big pile of mail is. So you can start rummaging for your envelopes from the onion and onion public radio I'm leslie price and this is the topical. My bosses I'm not allowed to drink anymore seltzer while I'm recording because it makes too much, but I think he's full of Shit. Stay with us. Excuse me. As Corona virus cases continue to grow throughout the US. One state has decided to take drastic measures to overcome the pandemic earlier this week. Florida Governor Rhonda Santa's used his executive power to deploy the State's National Guard to force residents back into malls, movie theaters, and other businesses joining us now with more details as OPR's burke. Clint Remmy, what led to this decision by the Governor Well Leslie Florida officials say they're taking these measures. After millions of residents continued to avoid open restaurants and bars, and blatantly ignored government guidelines to get back out there and save the economy. I spoke to Jeff Pemberton A. A representative from Governor to Santa's his office. Who had this to say? No one wanted it to come to this, but the state's residents left us. No choice so the governor has signed an emergency measure that sense troops to our hardest hit areas to make sure people. There are getting out of their house and staying in stores until they buy something. HM, rummy! Aren't these actions a little extreme? They are in Pemberton acknowledged that this will unfortunately caused a huge blow to the state's population, but he insists that practicing social consumerism is the state's only option to stop this plague of economic downturn. Here's. Here's Jeff Pemberton again simply put irresponsible people are not taking the government advisory seriously by refusing to take the family to the cheesecake factory for dinner and pick up a few things at and barrel on the way home. We're putting all kinds of corporations endanger. We are at a breaking point where these rules must be enforced. The new measure also makes it illegal for the state's twenty one million residents to congregate in restaurants and food courts with fewer than ten people in the National Guard is authorized to question any individual who doesn't look like they've had a haircut in a while or whose roots? Roots are showing to make sure they've made an appointment at a local salon or barbershop. If they haven't those who are looking shaggy, are subject to a two hundred dollar fine, and will be taken to the nearest super cats well, even if they're trying to grow it out, that's right sounds so draconian. However Floridians responding to these new regulations for some residents, the governor's executive order is already taking a toll. Look. I realized that keeping the economy going is more important than everyone's health, but there has to be a balance I don't need any more scented body lotion from bath and body works. Eight games in a row. I don't know how much more my arm can take. They told me they shoot me with beanbag guns if I didn't pay to reserve the lane for the whole. Mural customized. You can't go to the hair to see honored. As the kind of Art God, I would that would make you laugh and cry, and his perfect for the whole family. Now if you do not buy your ticket to the four forty five screen, and then slowly make way. What are the confessions Dan to a large popcorn, drinks and candy of choice, we'll use force while some people could be incredibly selfish. Yes, and unfortunately there are some large groups of protesters trying to defy the orders. We have some audio of the National Guard, moving in and a crowd of people who were trying to leave a mall in Orlando without the required number of full shopping bags. So me. Shop Man. We could do this the easy way or the hard way, but you're going to go into that nail salon and you're going to Pat Yourself. The National Guard were finally able to control the crowd by using tear-gas to corner them a Sunglass Hut until they all bought ray bans. It's sad that this is what it takes to get some people to do. What's right for? For the economy, but remmy are officials worried that this could lead to an increase in corona virus cases. They're taking that into account, but Pemberton noted that those who will suffer the most will be the poor and people in nursing homes, and they don't have that much money to spend anyway well, that's not so bad. Then thank you ramming. That's OPR's Remmy Berkeley back in a

"They set us up in this empty room with a folding table, having a some fraternity PTSD here. Seltzer in little shot glasses. My gosh, fruits are off the chart. It's some sort of berry. It's like a raspberry, a like a pony is for sure. Fun. We tasted our way through six seltzer 's and put down all of our flavor, adjectives and the gas to graph app. And then we were done and together with our flavor preferences, and our demographic information. The boys formulate our very own seltzer flavor. We're operating from a fairly huge database that we've built over the years. So when you taste right we're not just modeling you. We have to model hundreds of other variables about you and people like you in order to allow the eye to make this specific prediction. In most situations, we're actually not predicting for an individual, we're predicting for population. So this is going to be an interesting variation on that a few days later, we went back to AFS to see what they had come up with. And there was actually a bit more furniture in the office before we began. I asked Jason if he thought they'd cracked my seltzer code I was serious. So we think that we have your preferences mapped pretty well. But we are also trying to develop something. That's unique and innovative in something that you've never tasted before. So there's a probability that this formulation is good for someone like you, but not specifically you. That's a risk that were willing to take back the folding table. They had Julian an eye blind taste for new flavors of seltzer. We were told that some of them would be pre existing seltzer flavors available at stores and some might be new formulations made by Jason Ryan drink one. I don't know why I think such a thing against pairs number.
